If you haven't signed up, you can use this promo flash sale right now. Join for $1 then 50 off your first year. The link to do so is in the description below. Just click it and head on over. This is the hot topic in recruiting. I'm sure you've been asked this 500 different ways. Here's another way to ask it. Call your shot on Manchin Sales and Easton Royal committing as of today. Even though Royal is committed, but whatever. But call your shot on both of those wide receivers.

Five stars. That was the very first question out of the gates and I saw, you know, you could see who it is and it's an anonymous name. Yeah, 99 of anonymous comments are not great. They put you on the spot. They're, you know, they're combative a lot. They don't have a real username and so I was dreading, I was shivering when I saw that. It was anonymous question right out of the gates and of course it was a tough one. I'm not going to fall into a trap, you know, I we've been covering this as well as we can with a lot of in depth analysis. Not even just the Texas take on it, but what's going, what's out there. What what does Florida think about Eastern Royal? We know what LSU thinks about Eastern Royal, Indiana's take on sales. There's a lot going on on both those recruitments. Sales is very convoluted because it is a head versus heart recruitment. You know his family moved up to Alabama after tragic circumstances and he's created very, very strong bonds in that area in that region and Also Indiana, right? Yeah. What did I say? Sorry, Alabama. Well, he moved from Alabama to Indiana and he's created really strong bonds, you know, in his personal life and within football, of course, with Indiana being right down the street. A major heater after hiring Signetti. And then I think Texas just kind of. It lines up to a fresh start, maybe makes the most financial sense long term. I know everybody's talking about Indiana's setting a record for what they're going to offer in Nil. Well, they have to do that. You know, that's the only way they can actually compete in the actual real nil realm that Texas has, you know, Cam Coleman. Texas didn't need the biggest financial offer for Cam Coleman to get. Cam Coleman, you know, day after he signed, I think he already had a deal with like, Crocs, something that actually would have sold at A M or Texas Tech. But so the, just the financial upside is on the UT's favor almost no matter what Indiana offers. And then Royal, it's, you know, his birthday is coming up July 29th. I'm watching that for any sort of disruption in his recruitment. I don't know how it's going to end up. I lose confidence the longer he goes without firming it up. When he didn't firm up after his official visit, obviously I dropped the probability of him being in the class a little bit. But Texas has a very strong relationship. Texas feels pretty good about, about both situations. I would say if Royal flips to lsu, they're not going to get him back. I don't. I don't see that happening. And then. But if Sales does pick Indiana on Friday, that one's not over.
B
All right. Are you hearing anything on changes Sark is making to address the penalty situation? Getting the penalties down to a manageable
C
number would be huge. Well, I agree with that, man. It's one of the most frustrating points of Texas football. It often happens in their own end of the field. First down, you know, you gotta need a big drive, length of the field, and boom. You know, false start or coming out of a timeout or something crazy. You know, they've. They've made some tweaks. A lot of the offensive drills, offensive line drills don't start until there is a snap count. It's not just a whistle that they can, you know, that becomes repetitive and you can, you can respond to just based on muscle memory. They actually have to think and they've employed that a lot, especially when they're tired, which obviously in the fourth quarter you're fatigued when you're fatigued, you start to make more mental mistakes. So they have tried to do that at the, you know, at the end of the day, not to borrow a phrase from my friend Drew here. Yeah, I think a lot of it is mental overload, mental taxation with the shifts and the different formations, the motions and all that. And if that's the case, you know, that's just not going to go away due to practice. Yep.
B
There's something in the system that incentivizes this with all the stuff going on in the backfield.
C
Next up, it was a clarifying moment when that veteran offensive line two years ago had the same issues that we saw the year before when they were younger. You know, these things should iron out with more veteran play, and they haven't yet. And again, it's not just offensive line. It's. It was a heavily penalized team elsewhere as well.
B
How much will Derek Cooper weigh to start the season?
C
You know, I wouldn't look them up and they have them at 210. That sounds about right. You know, where they weigh you in the year matters. You know, earlier. You know, if it's off season, winter off season, you're going to weigh a little bit more as opposed to September 5th when it's hot. You've. You've been working out on the field in the, in the August heat, probably, you know, 205, 210, it's it.
A
He's.
C
He's a pretty lean guy, but he's muscled up. It's gonna, he'll be a gradual gainer by the time he leaves campus. He'll be, you know, north of 215,
B
220. Who is the most impactful GA or analyst you hear about behind the scenes?
C
Well, you know, funny enough, I answered that question. Michael Monte works with the quarterbacks and then Texas actually had a tweet about him, you know, assistant of the month or something, I don't know. But Sark has worked to keep him off of coaching staffs. You know, I think he's had some real job offers on the field, like quarterback coach and that sort of thing, but Texas has worked to keep him. He's been in Austin for a long time. I've also heard really good things about Malik Antoine, who has worked with the defensive backs, I think with a bias towards safety. He's from Louisiana, which I think does help some with, with, you know, having Derrick Williams and even some recruits when they're on campus. He's a younger guy. He played at Stanford, so clearly he's smart and he's a good coach. I heard he played a pretty big role last year when you know that Dwayne Aquina hire probably wasn't going as great as everybody had hoped. So I think he's probably a guy that you'll see know get a real job down the line and start really
B
building his name with the additions to the staff. Must Champ Gideon running back coach do you think the UT program is getting to the point where they can be mentioned with Georgia year in and year out and a playoff contender for most seasons?
C
I hate that they mentioned Georgia. Why did you say Georgia? Yeah, why couldn't they have said any other school? Yeah, the Georgia thing is a hiccup, but so I had to say that they're in the same tier as Georgia because they already are in the perennial conversation. They're, you know, preseason number one last year. Not just based on what they had going into the season, but you know, they were on the heels of back to back playoff trips two years ago when they're in the semifinals or two years ago at the time when they're in the semifinals and only four teams made the playoffs. You know, they made back to back semifinals. They're putting guys in the NFL one after another. So they're in that tier. It's just that you put Georgia in there and I can't say that they're equal with Georgia because they can't beat Georgia. Well, Georgia, you know, Georgia lost to a pretty, you know, so, so Alabama team last year earlier in the season before exacting revenge, lost to Ole Miss. Ole Miss gone on a bit of a heater, but I don't think Ole Miss should have beat Georgia. So they're human. They're human against everybody except for Texas it seems. So the Georgia thing there is a stick in the spokes, but Texas is in that same tier. They're, you know, they're probably gonna be preseason number one or two this year.

Well, obviously this all starts with the offensive line. We're going to be looking for cohesion, probably not going to get a great sense of that in game. But when we break it down, all 22, that's going to be the most anticipated all 22. Not just because of the long off season, but because we want to know, we know what it looked like against UTEP last year and we know what that foreshadowed. So we want to see all 22 of these guys playing with cohesion and I want to see them playing with strength at the play point of attack. Now this is not going to be a big burly offensive line that blows people off the line. It's not, you know, 1990s Nebraska. We, we're not caring about that, but it should look that way against Texas State. You know, Texas State has some good players over there and I, I, I'm familiar with a guy that went to my high school that went there at 212. He's up to 257 right now. I'm like thinking, okay, that's, that's, that's impressive. So they do have some guys over there, but they need to be pushed around by Texas. Even though Texas offensive line is probably not going to be known for bully ball. So I'm looking for that cohesion and improve strength. If we see improved strength on the offensive line, it's probably going to be across the entire team too. And we wrote last week that there is extra emphasis on the O line getting stronger, there's extra eyes on him, on them. Whether it's, you know, nutrition, whether it's strength and conditioning, just pretty much non stop, they've get, they're getting a ton of focus this offseason. We want to see that manifest on the field. Playing a clean game is important to me. I mean, you know, we've seen them play sloppy at times. You know, fewer penalties, fewer turnovers, you expect some sloppiness. There's going to be an assignment bus or two. There's no doubt about that. Their coach schemes very well on the offensive side of the ball. So there's going to be, he's going to test them mentally. There are going to be some mistakes. We just don't want it to look like, wow, they've got a long way to go in a short, short amount of time with Ohio State. Now, a reader did bring up in 2023, they didn't look all that great against Rice before going on the road to Alabama. That Rice game didn't bother me all that much. I saw, you know, I saw a lot of positive signs in that one. Notably, the defense looked really good in that heat. And you remember Tandre Sweat playing with his hair on fire and, you know, very hot weather and he's 340, 350 pounds. I was actually pretty excited about them, picked them to win the next week. But we do want to see signs that, hey, this team can look like it's realistic to play a good game against Ohio State. On offense, I want to see, in addition to the offensive line, I want to see more explosives. You know, if they're schemed up by because they're 11 was better than Texas State's 11, that's great. But obviously I want to see some individual playmaking where they just can't hang with Guy because he's Cam Coleman or, or Ryan Wingo or really Brown just got a crease and exploited it. Defense for some turnovers. And then of course, in addition, the offensive line, the most anticipated factor that first game is going to be how does Arch look on the shorter intermediate accuracy? You know, can he get in the rhythm? If he gets in a rhythm, I'll be pretty excited about the following week.
B
Yeah, I'm excited to have Texas State Week 1. Even though I have respect for them. That opening week game against a top opponent is tricky. I like that leeway there.
C
I agree.
B
And then finally, when does our linebacker hot board start to look to add some heavy low three star guys named Jet Zane, Chad Jackson or Brody?
C
I said, well, my response to that was I'm sure they're already looking at assembling a list of names that they need to watch early off season tape. You know, they're always, you know, they got guys gardening film in the back rooms and they'll assemble a list, hey, we need to watch this guy week one and see how they look. But as far as those names, you know, hopefully they can find another Rocky. You know, they found a Rocky last year, that perfect linebacker name. Yeah, I'm not too worried about linebacker recruiting. You know, like I wrote this week, you know, I don't think Johnny Nansen doesn't have the same gas pedal as say look, Kenny Baker got Kasiah Curry, Mark Orfe got, got John Meredith, Chris, Chris Jackson could get two five star wide receivers. I mean it's, it's, it's probably, it's probably not going to happen. But I'm saying the gas pedal is there to try to get them both. Obviously they, they got Ishmael Kamara, Brian Swanson. They had to be very aggressive for him. You know, you haven't, we haven't heard of them, of him having the gas pedal to get one of those guys. So that's a major factor. You know they got that guy last year and Tyler Atkinson and then, you know, they got the guy in the portal too with Biles. So he's up against the eight ball a bit there, but his like I detailed in there while I gave him a D on his grade and I know everybody would knee jerk and give him an F, but his big board is what disappoints me the most. We should, there should be a bunch of names there that we already know about and they just don't exist.
B
Everyone head over to the board. You can ask questions to Eric directly and you can join for $1 and then get half off your first year. Link in the description down below. Everyone have a great day.
