Karmelo Anthony Trial: Jury Given Chance To Show Mercy, They Chose Otherwise

Set To Die By Gas in 2 Days, Alabama Inmate Pleads to be Shot Instead

Lee filed an appeal for a stay of execution, citing several witness accounts of suffering by at least four other inmates who died by the same method. While the court agreed the method is cruel, it sent Lee’s case to a lower court to determine whether Lee could die by firing squad instead of nitrogen gas.
