NPR correspondent Nina Totenberg wrote a formal apology to Justice Samuel Alito for publishing a report about his retirement, saying she was “so, so sorry.” It was a shocking headline that was up for only a few minutes before it was replaced with a note from the editor saying the article was “published in error.” NPR explained Totenberg misheard an announcement at the Supreme Court, Totenberg saying “it was the worst professional mistake of my more than 50 years in journalism.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It was a remarkable spectacle here in New York City this afternoon! A well known daredevil duo scaled the needle of the Empire State Building from the Observation Deck to first unfurl a banner about love…. And then, he put a ring on it. 32-year-old Ivan Beerkus proposed to his girlfriend 33-year-old Angela Nikolau as police and news helicopters surrounded the couple celebrating 1454 feet above Manhattan. They were both promptly arrested after they climbed down to a safe enough level for police to take them into custody.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

It was an emotionally charged day and night at the Villa. Episode 25 begins with Dylan inexplicably incapable of controlling his emotions after learning Kenzie kissed Gal. It’s been less than a week and he’s crying? A LOT of folks aren’t buying it, including T.J. but that was just the beginning of the drama, as movie night part one played out and things quickly unraveled as K.C., Sincere and Zach all went into defense mode and the girls went on the attack. A truly heartbreaking story out of Plantation Florida. A dad goes to pick his toddler son up from daycare only to realize he never dropped him off that morning. He ran back to his vehicle to make the grim discovery that his son had been there the entire day as temperatures soared into the 90s. Every year dozens of families experience this horror and the majority of parents are prosecuted for the death of their child. This latest tragedy is a brutal reminder to parents and caregivers how easily accidents like this can happen, as 2/3 of the country deals with a massive heat wave.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

A shocking story is breaking out of Southern Ohio: Authorities are calling the conditions 16 children were living in, unimaginable. The children, ranging in age from 18 months to 18-years-old, are all currently being medically evaluated, after two were in such critical condition, they had to be airlifted to level one trauma units. Several of the other kids are being described as in serious condition. Four adults are expected in court today to face 17 charges of child endangerment for what prosecutors are calling “pure evil.”See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

An unthinkable story out of Missouri as police charge a 10-year-old boy with murder after they say he shot and killed his 7-month-old niece. The boy is the youngest person in that state’s history to be charged with murder. The baby’s 19-year-old father is also being held accountable for the shooting. Ca'Marion Pawnell has been charged with second degree murder because it was his gun, stored under his mattress, that police say his 10-year-old used to shoot baby Kiyomi Parker. Just four days after the last day of classes, an exterminator investigating a “foul odor” found the shocking source of the smell inside a New York City school’s chimney: a decomposing body. Investigators are now trying to determine if any construction workers in the area are missing, as the school was under renovations. Police are also looking into whether foul play may be involved. While there were no students or teachers inside the building at the time of the macabre discovery, several students have told reporters they’d been complaining of a bad smell for weeks leading up to the last day of school. As promised, New Jersey Congressman Tom Kean Jr. delivered a speech on the House floor to explain missing 140 votes and 4 months of work. Kean said he was diagnosed with depression and upon advice of his doctors, he remained in the hospital for treatment to battle the disease. And while most were sympathetic and wished him well, many also took issue with his message which they say was tone-deaf and wreaked of privilege.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
