Hi everyone. This is Catherine Nzucki. I'm so happy to announce that the Afropolitan is now the Youth Bloom. I wanted a new title that better reflects the focus I have on the experiences of Africa's youth, and a title that gets at the underlying questions behind this podcast. As you've heard me say repeatedly, by 2050, one in four people in the world will be African. And in the next five years, young Africans are expected to make up 42% of the world's youth. And this is what's typically described as Africa's youth boom. The two questions that this podcast will continue to explore are one, what are the issues impacting Africa's youth today? And how will these trends evolve over the coming decades? And two, what are the sets of choices we can make in the present to secure healthy and prosperous lives for current and future generations? In other words, what can we do now to secure a youth bloom for the coming decades? And so, in answering these questions, I've discussed everything from how the deity December celebrations in Lagos intersect with the cost of living in Nigeria to Africa's sovereign debt crisis and how it affects outcomes for young people. Today we'll be back on our regular schedule, and I want to thank you all for tuning in and for all the support I've received for this podcast. Thank you.

Catherine Nzucki, the host, outlines the central themes the podcast will continue to explore and frames the importance of youth-centered dialogue as Africa’s young population surges in size and influence.
Catherine states two core inquiries:

Framing the Podcast’s Mission:
