Thomas Frank: The College Info Geek Today’s guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast is Mr Thomas Franks, the owner of the College Info Geek, where he puts a totally different spin on going through the college life. As he says to the students of the world “You know that just going to class, getting good grades, and graduating with a degree isn’t good enough any-more. You know that being successful in college takes a bit more work. You’ve got the drive and the ambition. So where do you go from here?” Which is a fascinating point of view, which is very different from most peoples education experience I would imagine, whereby they base this part of their life as a self contained period. Get through college, get the grades, and then set about kicking ass in the real world. But success takes time, so what better way to hit the ground running than fine tuning and developing your hustle muscle before you need them. By doing things the right way whilst in College. As he says “This blog is dedicated to helping you build a remarkable college career, which in turn will lead into an amazing life. This is not your typical college blog. You won’t find articles with 10 Tips to Win at Beer Pong or 6 Ways to Hack Your Laundry. That bite-size, regular, boring content has already been written hundreds of times on other blogs. I’m not interested in it. This blog is all about winning at college.” And now he is certainly winning in his own life, and once simply a blog, this is now a lifestyle enthused by passion. So how did he break free from the college mentality that most people buy into, with parties, hangovers, and late nights crouched over the books? And does he look at what he has created as the whole package or just the starting point to what he can now achieve? Well let’s find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Thomas Franks.

BUSINESS INTERVIEW: Mining For Gold In Business Rana Vig is todays guest joining us on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots podcast interview. Rana is a seasoned entrepreneurial professional with five successful start-ups in different verticals and a diverse 35-year business career under his belt. Having transitioned to the capital markets in 2010, Rana took two companies public, and these were the biggest Canadian venture deals of 2018. Curaleaf raised $520 million and was a near billion reverse takeover (RTO). While Harvest Health and Recreation was yet another impressive billion RTO. But our guest wasnt just going to sit back and rest on his laurels. How The Dots Joined Up For Rana Instead he started digging into the trends and started searching for a new market, which for many was seemed as old hat. Gold and mining came to the fore and Rana also took Blue Lagoon Resources, the gold-focused company of which he is the current CEO and which had one of the top-performing stocks for 2019, public in the following year. Outside of business, Rana is a well-known philanthropist and in November 2017, the Canadian Senate invited him to receive the Senate 150th Anniversary Medal for those who make their communities a better place to live through generosity and dedication. So why do so many businesses fail in the first five years of creation in his view? And looking back over his years is it obvious why he has built success, or is it simply being in the right place at the right time? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Rana Vig. Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Rana Vig such as: Why the biggest mistake all businesses make is being focused on creating income instead of looking for the biggest problem that they can solve. We reveal the truth behind the statement "Amateurs invent, whilst professionals steal" which can save you years of effort and expense. Rana shares his belief that most people spend more time trying to improve their weaknesses than simply focusing in on their strengths. and lastly…. How the most powerful computer the world has ever seen was built by something more powerful and underused.

LISTENER FEEDBACK: Clearing The Mental Stresses In this episode of Join Up Dots, listeners from around the world share how just one day of applying the principles from our last episode on decluttering the mind has already made a difference in their lives. STAGE TWO: Wealth, Health And Happiness Challenge - Controlling That Activity In Your Brain In this episode of Join Up Dots, we dive into the power of decluttering your mind to reduce mental noise and overwhelm. Worries may feel real, but they are entirely self-created—no one is forcing you to worry. Instead of letting them take over, break them down into small, actionable steps. If there’s nothing you can do, let them go and see what happens. Distractions, endless to-do lists, and information overload make it harder to focus on what truly matters. By setting mental boundaries, simplifying your environment, and prioritizing rest, you create the space needed for clarity and peace. A decluttered mind leads to a more focused, intentional life. Share your thoughts using #JoinUpDots #MindClarity #TakeControl. Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast and leave a review. Start Ups is the name of the game with Mark Grimes, todays guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast. He is a man who over the last few months has taken more action than most people, not least himself have done over the last 18 years. You see over nearly two decades our guest today created a list of businesses that he thought would be proven winners. Or at least those that were worth reviewing and developing to see if they bore fruit. Now since August 1, 2020, he is a man on fire. As he says "Since August 2020 I launched one new startup every day for 31 days in a row. Yep, 31 brand spanking new companies. No business plans drawn up. No money raised. No teams assembled. No website created—nothing done ahead of time. Zero. Zip. Zilch. Lean and mean. 100% transparent. 100% open. How The Start Ups Dots Joined Up For Mark Grimes One new idea was selected each day from 350+ business ideas scribbled down over the last 18 years, aka the Dunning Kruger Project. Is this for real? Yes. Am I joking? No. Am I nuts? We'll see. Why am I doing this? Well, there are 55 million newly unemployed people in the US alone. There is continuing economic upheaval. There are tense racial, political, and personal divisions among us. There is a global pandemic. Is this the worst possible time to launch and grow a startup? Yes Could it be the best possible time? Yes. Which of course makes him a perfect guest for a show like Join Up Dots So where can people start first with so many ideas flooding around us all everyday? And of course how does he remain organised and focused on developing every single one. Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mark Grimes
