NFL drafts around the corner, got spring games happening all over the place. We're jam packed high atop what can only be described as a glistening downtown Nashville, Tennessee on the Sunday night, April 19th, the year of our Lord 2026. I well, I don't have the bucket on set with me per se, but just imagine a bucket sitting. It's not real, it's figurative. But the bucket is full of spring game intel. Spring wrapped up at Georgia and Texas and Ohio State, Michigan. All these places have spring games yesterday to varying degrees. So I'm going to react to those. But not just the spring games themselves. We're kind of just unloading what we've heard and what we're feeling coming out of spring and there's a lot to talk about. Bryant Haynes, defensive coordinator at Indiana, has just chosen to take on the entire state of Alabama. Really, really good budding rivalry here as of late. Haynes versus Bama. Good stuff. We're going to have the first ever Pate State mock draft on the back end of tonight's show. Many of you asked for it last year, but we were already too deep into the process and I said, jesse, we can't. I don't think we can do it this year. But we put it off until next year. Well, next year is this year. So we're doing it. We're actually doing it tonight. All 32 first round picks and somehow we're going to do it in like 30 minutes. Challenge me on it. We already recorded it, so I know we can do it. Yeah, they're watching us in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, Camilla, Georgia, Monroe, Louisiana, Seattle, Washington. Thank you guys so much. Subscribe wherever you are to the channel and check and make sure if you think you're subscribed because some of you think you are and you are not. And that's a sad, sad state of affairs, especially for us because it really matters to us. I've got another speaker series trip coming up. We're going to be there Tuesday. We're going to go out a little early tomorrow. Got some friends of that program that we want to catch up with. So follow on the socials oshpate, cfb. That's how you know where we are. We got some big ones coming up, by the way, this week. We're going to see someone who has been on the Speaker Series several times. But and I want you to listen to me closely. We got some big ones coming up that we have never had on the Show I cannot be. I could be more specific than that, but I'm not going to be more specific than that. But it's going to be a very, very fun filled month of May around here. Okay? We had spring games all over the place yesterday. There were a bunch of them in the sec. Georgia G day happened and you know what my biggest takeaway was? It was not even a position group. It was just overall depth. You know, you're told that no one has depth anymore and it is true. No one has the kind of depth Georgia had four or five years ago. No one has the kind of depth Bama had 10 years ago. They got really good depth there. So they were down a couple of corners. Their top running back went down. First play of the day. They were down two receivers, a defensive lineman, a linebacker. So you know that sounds like the entire starting rotation is gutted and yet you turn on the game. This is a really good looking football team. It's spring so it doesn't look like a game would in the fall. But it was a tight end show. That's what it was. Jayden Riddell specifically is a guy that I have listened to Jake Rowe and Rusty Manziel talk about a whole lot and there he is. Voila. Kirby Smart's been pretty effusive in his praise about that kid as well. They got everyone involved though. So Georgia's. He's been a tight end factory for a long time. That looks to continue. I'll trust them at offensive line, I'll trust them at defensive line. Running back looks really good. They've replenished that thing totally from just a couple of years ago. Tight end, as I just mentioned, it really comes back down to the same question. How dynamic is the receiver group going to be? Net a couple of them out yesterday. It just. That's what it comes down to with them. It doesn't come down to that in the form of oh, can they win nine games? But it does come down to that. If they can win big games and leverage pressure situations in the playoffs, they got to have difference makers out there and then they got to have a guy who can get him the ball. So, you know, you go part B of that is, well, how much can Gunner Stockton improve? But he's got to have guys throw the ball too outside. Just the tight end position, I think. I don't know, maybe they may be deep enough there. Auburn had their spring game yesterday. Byron Brown didn't look good at all. That's the bad news. The good news is this really Wasn't a football game, especially when it comes to his skill set because they didn't use his legs and you weren't allowed to hit him. And so when you rip away that part of Byron Brown's game, I, I don't think there was any scenario where he looked good yesterday. So that's the good news. He will give them the best chance to win at quarterback this fall. Now the reason I am saying that is because Tristan Tia played yesterday and looked really good and he's a guy to circle. It really makes you feel good about the quarterback position in the future at Auburn. But I started to get the text yesterday before I've seen the game, I start to get the text from some Auburn buddies, hey, do we have a quarterback controversy here? No, you do not. No, you do not. If you're going to have one, it didn't happen yesterday at a day. At least let me say that they used a whole lot of tempo. That's really what stood out the most. If you go back and you're watching this, they're going to use that heavily. You kind of know what you're getting because they got a bunch of South Florida imports on the offensive side. So it's not like a bunch of guys learning a new system there. But the overall talent roster there, there's some mixed feelings on this. When I asked around the league, I feel like it's a second tier talent roster. That means it's not Georgia, it's not Texas, it's not that. But it's also, it's within puncher's reach where if they win on the margins they can have themselves in games and they can challenge for a pretty good to really good season. That's on the high end. The low end is they don't win on the margins and they're a mistake riddled team. And year one's really tough for Alex Gollish. That's my feel on them as we exit spring. But I know Byron Brown looked terrible yesterday. I know that he is not going to look terrible this year. I mean he may not be all sec, but he's not going to look terrible this year. Neither is Texas. So Texas, yesterday they had. Did they call it a spring game or an open practice? Whatever it was. The one thing I wanted to see more from Texas was the one thing I really couldn't see and that is offensive line because they had three guys out yesterday. Now I know like Eric Nolan over at Inside Texas, he wrote about this, he said and continues to say their staff feels good about the O line. If their staff is right, this will be the best team in the country. If their staff is right, this is the team that has the potential to be like the heads up favorite, you know, sort of like a clear favorite. But that's if offensive line pans out. Because pretty much everywhere else on this team they're either equal to or upgraded from what they had been. And that extends beyond personnel, like staffing moves specifically. I'm thinking on defense, they made really, really good moves. But that unit, that offensive line unit, that's the key that will decide whether this is a special team that could win a national championship or it's a team that had a ton of potential but it was never able to be realized because the offensive line wouldn't allow it to be realized. Now, you've heard a lot about Cam Coleman all throughout this spring. He's the wide receiver transfer from Auburn with good reason. Cam Coleman's a monster. Cam Coleman was in a place last year where it was impossible for him to realize his full potential. He is in a place this year where he can realize his full potential. But I don't want to talk to you about Cam Coleman. Rasheem Biles has the chance to be every bit the impact player on the defensive side that they rightfully expect Cam Coleman to be on the offensive side. It's just the nation's not talking about Rasheem Biles as much Texas fans are. He's a linebacker transfer from Pitt. And there's a very real scenario where the best player for Texas on either side of the ball this year is a transfer. Now, I know Colin Simmons exists. I know Arch Manning exists. There are a lot of options for really, really good players on this team. So let's just say one of, I think one of the very best players on either side of the ball here will be Cam Coleman and Rasheed Biles. Running back's going to be good, man. Running back is going to be really good. This team's going to be really good. The floor for this team is extremely high and it's just all about offensive line. Texas A and M also had their spring game yesterday. This is a very different vibe. Texas A and M had a really big injury in the spring game yesterday. They lost Damian Sanford. He got carted off the field. That is their best linebacker, that is a team captain. And behind him there's a lot of unknown at linebacker for Texas A and M. And it happened fairly early in the day to where it kind of zapped the mood. And like, you know, I Was talking to a lot of people who were there. And it was almost like, at that point, we want to. We want to just get it done and get it over with. Good news Is they were 5 of 5 on field goals. So that was a problem for them at times last year. But I don't know, I didn't take a ton away From A&M's like I did these others. I think when you have that stuff happen in the spring game, it just kind of shifts everyone's mentality into, man, let's make sure we just tiptoe around and get out of here healthy. We don't want a repeat of what we just saw happen. And we don't have an update on him today. There's no rush on it, obviously, because you got the rest of April and then June, July and August before we play football. But yeah, I hated to see that. Oklahoma, this time last year, I was touting John Mattier to win the Heisman. And in my book, the only thing that stopped it was the injury. That's how I remember history. John Mattier was a runaway favorite to win the Heisman until he got hurt. That's how I remember it. Most of you don't remember it that way because that's not actually the way that history played out. But I know my truth. As Vince Vaughn said in four. What was that? Was it four Christmases? Yes, four Christmases. I know my truth. It was a scene about John Matiere. Yeah, John Matiere looks like a better quarterback. To the semi trained eye, he looks like a better quarterback. It just feels right. And I think a lot of that has to do with. With the idea that they can't possibly be worse running the ball. And I think not only will they be improved there, I think Oklahoma will be pretty significantly improved running the ball. They had a couple of guys out yesterday and still looked really good. All right, now bookmark what I just said because we know wide receiver will be good there. So bookmark that. Check at receiver. Tentative check. Write it in pencil. But tentative check at running back. We've got John Mateer back. George Stoa over at Sooner. Scoop had the following to say. Offensive line has the highest potential of the Brent Venables era. Pending they stay healthy because maybe the depth situation is not the greatest in the world. So is that what we're looking at? Are we looking at a dual red river hypothetical of offensive line being the key to unlocking SEC championship potential? I don't know what the acronym would be for that, but I feel like that's how we exit spring. Now I feel like there may be more questions at Oklahoma than at Texas. Maybe, but feel good about quarterback at Oklahoma. Feel much better about the run game at Oklahoma. Feel good Jesse. Feel good right now. Tough schedule, but feel good.

More spring reaction here. That was just we built a little fence around all the SEC teams so that we could group them together. Many, many more spring games happened yesterday. Michigan had their spring game yesterday, so the Kyle Whittingham era has kicked off. To me, I didn't see this game the same way a lot of you did. To me, this was a best case scenario situation for Michigan. If I'm a Michigan fan, hear me out here. Bryce Underwood didn't look good, so that doesn't sound like best case scenario. But here's the thing. Yesterday's game doesn't count, so it doesn't really matter whether you looked good or bad yesterday. Here's what I want. I want a climate this summer that gets the absolute most out of Bryce Underwood. I want him to be as driven, motivated, worried if he needs to be, whatever gets the most out of him. I want that to exist over the next three or four months up there. And him not playing well on at least the biggest stage the spring has to offer at the very end of spring. It's the kind of taste that lingers in people's mouths and there's a lot of yeah, but. And there's a lot of questions and skepticism. That's not the worst thing in the world, especially when Tommy Carr, who is the backup there, did look good. Now realistically, you and I both know who's starting week one for them, but that doesn't matter as long as people whisper. As long as I've just got a little whisper campaign up there, that's all I need. And I think it could create the ecosystem that is perfectly conducive to Bryce Underwood developing at whatever his maximum potential would have been this spring and summer. So I think that's perfect recipe for them. Savion hitter looks really, really good at running back. We had heard some folks talk about him up there and he didn't break like a 50 yard run yesterday, but there were multiple times where he broke tackles and he looks like he was close to it. So he feels like an impact player at running back. It feels like wide receiver still has to work itself out. But outside of that, I mean, defensive line, it'll probably end up being, wouldn't you say, their best position, Jesse? I think defensive line probably ends up being that progress. That's what, that's what we want to see here. Not a finished product. Progress being made. And I think we saw that. And I would just remember it's April 19th. I would just remember. Let's just keep that in mind. What I said about the quarterback situation, Ohio State. Oh, I cited the wrong movie earlier. I've been corrected live. Ohio State. Yeah. This is going to shock you. They feel set at quarterback beyond Julian saying, I mean they feel set at quarterback. So Tavian St. Clair looks really good, man. I don't know how many places this year he would start. And I know Ryan Day does not want us playing that game on air with his backup quarterback. I know that, but he'd start at a lot of places. Yeah. Now, if you listen to the Ohio State beat, they would tell you that maybe Tavian St. Clair had not the best of practices the latter portion of last week, the practices leading up to the spring game. Now, this is a young guy, by the way. He's not a veteran. So Tavian St. Clair, backup quarterback, they're riding him hard because they want to get him ready to play as soon as possible because you never know. I mean, we could be one snap away from him having to go into the game at Texas in week two or week three. So they're riding him hard. He has a bad day and you find out is a guy going to go into a shell mentally or is he going to shine? Well, he has his best practice of the spring. Saturday, it was just so happened to be the practice that the public gets to see. And so that's a good sign because he's 6 4, he's 230. According to Rivals, he was the number four overall prospect in the 2025 class. He was in one game last year. And when it comes time for him to be the man, I got no doubt he will be the man. Chris Henry Jr. Three catches for 91 yards in this game. It's the kind of guy where he comes in and it really doesn't matter who else is in his position room. He's going to be one of the best in that position room. He was a five star according to rivals. We've discussed him a lot this spring. He's been an instant or he's had instant impact player written all over him and 65195 walking in that room at Ohio State can be intimidating. It doesn't feel like he was intimidated by that offensive line is a wreck right now. That but they don't play right now so they got a few months to get healthy and probably will end up being a really good offensive line. The other guy that really stood out for Ohio State is Devin Sanchez. I think he's set to break out man. And he's coming in right behind some guys departing from or for the draft. 62200 pound corner. Just looks like he was created more. More so created like on a video game in a lab. Ohio State tends to have those kind of players walking around. So Ohio State's going to be in the mix here. But quarterback, man, they got to feel good right now. Miami, as it turns out Miami not going to be able to keep that receiver room a secret. Miami, I think they're kind of hoping on or banking on the country knowing it's Malachi Tony. But who else do they have? A lot. Cooper Barkate was the transfer from Duke. The other transfer who came along with Darian Mensah who by the way is flat out a better fit for this offense than Carson Beck was. I'm not saying Carson Beck was a bad player. We're not trying to dunk on him or anything. But when you. When you think in accordance to what Shannon Dawson wants to do, when he has every bit of his offense at his disposal, Darian Mentz is just a better player to unlock that point blank. There's a reason Miami was really, really aggressive trying to go get him. But they didn't just get him. They got Cooper Barkate. His number one receiver. Josh Moore we've already circled as our breakout player of the year at receiver from Miami. Dalen Upshaw is there. So this offense, that running back room is really good. If your biggest question about Miami is offensive line, you can circle tight end too. But offensively I think most people look at offensive line. Look, I'll grant you it may start the season as a work in progress. Maybe by the end of the year that has the potential to be one of the best offensive lines in college football. That is the high end potential. That group. And I know you don't know a lot of them. I'VE been down there to watch them practice. Those are names you'll learn pretty quickly. Or if you don't know their names, it'll be one of those things where you're watching a Miami game and you go, who is that? Oh, that's a 6, 8 freshman left tackle. That's all that is. I'm excited about their secondary, by the way. When we were down there, that's kind of my other takeaway was they're going to be better in the secondary and that's not a small deal, but their depth and talent back there is really, really good. So Miami played for a national championship last year. Miami was at midfield less than a minute to go with a chance to win the national title. So you think, wow, it's hard to improve on that. I think Miami's going to have a better team this year than they did last year by the midpoint of the season and moving forward, I think they will. And all the hunger in the world still built in because they got close, but they weren't able to grab the belt last year. Spring ball, man. Spring ball. Wrapping up everywhere. We got drama, big time drama. And you're thinking, wow, it's April. What do you mean, drama? This is what I mean. Johnny hit us up from Nashville. He said, did you see Bryant Haynes go after Ty Simpson? Now, many of you may have been living your lives over the weekend, and you're saying, what is this all about? Well, I'll tell you what it was all about in a second. Now, I saw the reaction to this before I saw the incident itself. And if you saw the reaction on Twitter, I thought Brian Haynes had killed a guy like I thought he had. I thought he had homicided someone. There was a significant outrage over this, and I'm thinking, what must Brian Haynes have done? He just won a national championship. This is the defensive coordinator at Indiana, by the way. And it turns out Bryant Haynes did not kill the guy. What he actually did is far worse. He messed with Alabama fans on Twitter. Far worse. So what is all this in reaction to Caleb? Fellow podcaster Caleb Downs had Ty Simpson on his show, and they were talking about the playoff. You know, Downs plays for Ohio State. So they faced Indiana, Alabama faced Indiana. Everybody got beat by Indiana. If you don't believe it, ask Brian Haynes. He'll tell you anyway. I'll get to that in a second. This was an exchange that seemed innocent enough between Caleb Downs and Ty Simpson. And you listen to this and you react how you think you should, and then I'll show you how Brian Haynes reacted. Was it surprising what they did, or were they as, like, good of a team as advertised? I mean, they won, so I wasn't surprised when they won. After they beat us, we lost to both teams that were in the Natty. So I thought they were going to win that game against Miami. I didn't know how it was going to go against y' all
Ty Simpson
from my point of view, right? Like, I was like, they don't do much. Like, I was like, they do the same thing for every down. And so when I got the ball, I knew exactly what was going to happen. They just didn't mess up, bro. They were in the exact same spot they were supposed to be. And they were so well coached. It was so much different than the SEC SCP you got. You know, they'll play, man. They'll do these unorthodox coverages, you know, because it's just like. I don't know how it is. That game was. Was crazy to me. Of course I got hurt, so it was a. That was a bummer. But I just. I knew what they were going to do, and, you know, we couldn't really run the ball. We didn't really, you know, throw them. It just was a. It was so crazy to me how it happened.
Josh Pate
Spicy, huh? Well, Brian Haynes thought, so here's what he had to say. Quote, adorable. We also, there's some inexplicable commas here, but I think Brian Haynes is typing how he thinks, and some people think a little different. If I typed the way my mind thought, it would be a disaster. Brian Haynes doesn't care. He has no filter that he runs this through. So Brian Haynes says, that was adorable. We also saw everything they were doing on every single snap. It's just that we exploited those cues and didn't get frozen and crushed by them. Ty Simpson has not said a word about this that I know of, but every other Bama fan has, and some members of the esteemed college football media establishment have as well. Now, there are a lot of folks out there who you could just blindly be taking a shot at Alabama and they would back you because a lot of folks hate Alabama. There were other people who looked and said, what is wrong with you? Brian Haynes. And then there were the Alabama folks who grabbed the torches and the pitchforks, and they just. They took off for Bloomington. And here's the beautiful part about it. To me, this is where I interject my opinion. 99 times out of 100, if a coach were in this position and he shared what he actually thought, that's obviously an authentic, unfiltered reaction to what he watched. It doesn't even matter whether you think it makes sense. It doesn't matter whether you agree with it. It doesn't matter whether you think it's appropriate or respectful. Table all that, because that's how you feel. I'm telling you, it's obvious. This is how Bryant Haynes feels. That's my only point. Okay? 99% of the time, if a coach were to share his raw, unfiltered opinion and it got a lot of blowback, what would happen? What would happen is someone would type an apology for Bryant Haynes from The SIDS office or from the comms office, or maybe some of these bigger universities have actual crisis management firms. And he would copy it, he'd paste it, maybe even go full notes app on us. Bryant Haynes did none of these things. He saw all the reaction and then he had a follow up. That's all it took to break your entire fan base. Wow. Maybe I should have just said boo. No apologies, no compliments. Grow up, folks. He had a bad take and I said the painful truth. Bounce back better goiu Hashtag no compliments. Give me a thousand, Brian Hanes, whatever the plural form of Brian Haines is, give me a thousand of them. I don't even care that. I don't care how I feel about it. I don't care if I agree with it. I don't care about any of that. I think people walk around in public facing roles, way too worried about being liked. One of the things that I do not like about modern sports, pro sports and high level college sports is everyone wants to be friends with each other. And if you want, if you go back and watch your dad's era or your granddad's era, people genuinely hated each other, or at least they played like that. And I don't know, man, if you grew up in this era, it may be a shock to the senses, but you ought to go watch like a Pittsburgh Steelers game from 1984 or something like that. There's genuine hatred in the hearts of those players. Look, if you're at Ohio State, it doesn't even enter your mind that you could ever say the word Michigan, much less transfer there, and play coaches, players, whatever. And now these days, not only does it happen, it's like everybody, as soon as the game ends, you want to rush to make sure you interact on social media and you exchange jerseys on the field. And I've always hated it, Always hated it. I really want people to dislike each other, at least competitively. I want people to dislike each other and more so than that. And I'm speaking in sport strictly here. More than that, I want people to speak their mind and not worry about blowback and Brian Haynes not worried about it. And he's in a pretty high profile position now because he's at Indiana. They just won the national championship. He probably could have gone elsewhere. He didn't. He went out to Hot Springs, Arkansas. He won himself the Broyles Award and then went right back to Bloomington. And they're getting ready to not defend the title because no one can take it from them, but they're ready to try and repeat this year, but he just doesn't care. And inevitably when you have people who act like that, they're going to say some stuff that rubs you the wrong way. But if that's the trade off for me, getting that kind of ecosystem in college football, I'm all for it. I'm all for it. That's kind of like I had to think once upon a time, if I want a smaller playoff, well, that comes with the trade off of maybe a team that you like not making the playoff one year, being left just on the outside looking in. If that's the trade off, I'm okay with it. If the trade off here is Bryant Haynes or anyone else says stuff I occasionally disagree with, but they say it cause they really feel it, give it to me. Just as long as you're real, as long as you don't blink when you get pushback, which is even worse than being real, and then backtracking on it, you can be petty all you want to. Just please don't make it your life's mission to just get along with everybody and don't offend anybody. So I love it. I hope we get a lot more of it. And I don't know how Kurt Signetti responds to this. I don't even know if Sig knows it happened. But I really hope somewhere there is at least enough psychopath in his mind that he looks at this kind of like he looks at a first down marker and says, I'm gonna allow it. I'm okay with it. Bryant Haynes is his own man. I'm good with it. So I'm all for this. A lot of people thought I was gonna. I don't know why a lot of people thought I was gonna push back on this. Brian Haynes is a friend of the program, by the way. And who knows, maybe he'll dunk on us one day. Maybe we'll dunk on him one day. Maybe that is the off season beef that we need around here. We people call us clickbait paid already, despite the fact that you can't click on a tweet. Maybe that's what we need. Maybe U.S. versus Bryant Haynes. That's how we pass the time. You can't bet on that at Fanduel, but several other things you can. For instance, Indiana to win the national championship this year, those odds are available. Indiana to win the Big Ten this year, those odds are available. Why? Because Fanduel is the exclusive odds provider of this show and there are several markets already available over there. Remember, right now got NBA playoffs going on. You got a lot of stuff going on. You bet $5 and you win. As a new sign up, you get 250 in bonus bets. And with that, we make history. The first ever pate state full first round mock draft. And this leads into, by the way, Thursday night, Friday night, a full live NFL draft casting. But it won't be on the YouTube channel. It'll be over on buzzer b z z r dot com. We're over there. We've been doing NFL draft preview coverage for like two or three weeks at this point. And if you're not already over there, get over there. And I'm talking about viewers, I'm talking about fans. I'm also talking about creators. We're over there. Our boy Brett Colloman's been just pumping stuff out ahead of the NFL draft. I'm telling you, if you are a creator, if you're in the content creation business, you always tell yourself, man, I wish I would have gotten into podcasting when podcasting was a new thing. I wish I would have gotten on YouTube when YouTube was a new thing. You think that because there's a ton of value in being first to market. So when I tell you there's a new platform that you can do this on buzzer b z z r.com I would just highly advise you guys, you're already in the content game. Get somewhere where you can be first to market there. All sports, no noise. We'll be over there. Thursday night live, Friday night Live but tonight I wanted to put out our mock draft and I'm not going to waste a whole lot of time. We're not going to add breaks between this. We're not throwing to interviews in the back. No. We're rapid fire through this thing and ironically we don't have to spend a whole lot of time on number one. So let's roll through this. First overall pick in the NFL draft. 2026 got the Raiders taken Fernando Mendoza. I think the whole world does. They need a quarterback. They traded Geno Smith, QB1 comes off the board here, pretty much a no brainer. The experience that he has and him getting put in a starting role from day one, I think it pays dividends. I also think that they may not have taken him first overall at quarterback in other drafts, but this is the draft we're living in. Fernando Mendoza goes off the board at number one to the Raiders. Then we get to number two. To me, this is kind of where the fun begins because there's already a lot of debate about what the jets are going to do. But at the number two overall pick, I'll send Arvl Reese to the New York Jets. They've loaded up on defense and free agency. I don't think Aaron Glenn is going to stop there. And Arvell Reese is a stud, but he's still coming into his own and he's got the ability at linebacker to rush off the edge. And look, I mean, I don't want to be disrespectful here, but the jets trail in a lot of games so they need an edge that can also play the run. It's really, it's a really big focal point to me for them in this pick, especially if they're taking Arvl Reese. They still have 16, they've got 33, they've got 44. They can address the offensive woes. But I think you take Arvl Reese here from Ohio State at number two. Arizona Cardinals next up. Now the Cardinals likewise. There's a lot of noise about what they're going to do later in the draft. But at the number three overall pick, I think it's Francis Malanoa, the offensive tackle out of Miami. I don't think they address quarterback here and their next biggest need is right tackle. And he is a beast in a run game. Above average by NFL standards in pass pro. But he's got the upside to becoming an elite right tackle. And I think that you grab a starting offensive tackle, you can pair him with Paris Johnson and whoever my quarterback is here in 2026, at least they'll have the protection they need. I also, speaking of later in the first round, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cardinals jump back up into the first round. Maybe if Ty Simpson's there and they're sold on him. A lot of reports out about that and there will be more so as the draft approaches. But I'm sending Francis Malanoa to Arizona with the number three overall pick. And then we come right here to our backyard in Nashville, Tennessee for the number four overall pick. Jesse, can you imagine if the draft really went this fast? Wow. It's like watching the draft in 3x speed. Some of us dream in 3x speed. We just do the draft in 3x speed. Very, very inside baseball. There I am sending David Bailey to the Tennessee Titans with the number four overall pick. Now, they went free agent shopping. They addressed defensive tackle, defensive end, wide receiver, corner. I think they got to upgrade the other edge position here. It could be Reuben Bain, it could be David Bailey. I'm going with Bailey out of Texas Tech. He just, I think he profiles maybe with higher upside due to his size, due to his length, pass rush ability. Look, Jeremiah Love's name is being thrown around a little bit. This is probably Jeremiah Love ceiling. It's the highest potential spot for him to go. But I'm bringing David Bailey to Nashville because I think they need a lot more than just what Jeremiah Love, who I think look pound for pound could be the best player over on the draft. But I don't think the fit is right here for Tennessee, number five overall pick, the New York Giants select Sonny Stiles. It's going to be a great night for Ohio State, in case you haven't already picked up on that. So give me Sonny Stiles from Ohio State headed to the New York Giants. You could look at wide receiver and offensive line here. I just think for the Giants, it's kind of hard to find an exact fit in terms of big board right here. And so they've got another need for a wide receiver and there's no consensus number one wide receiver in the draft. So I think it comes down to specific needs by team. And the Giants, they can get better wide receivers with their next pick. So ultimately, I mean, they've loaded up at defensive line, but per our friends at pff, they had one of the worst graded linebacker units in the country last year. And so Sonny Styles, there are a few truths in an uncertain world, but I know he can help them in that department. So give me Sonny Styles to the New York Giants, number six, Cleveland Browns on the clock and their pick is already in state. I'm sending Carnell Tate from Ohio State right up the road to Cleveland. They could head in a multitude of different directions here. Like almost nothing would surprise me. But there's no clear offensive lineman to take, I think this high if Malanoa is already off the board. And so Carnell Tate provides a wide receiver option to pair with Harold Fannin at tight end. And you give whoever Cleveland's quarterback is a True wide receiver 1. Jerry Judy's really failed to live up to that so far. I wouldn't hate Ruben Bane with this pick, but look, wide receivers, maybe there's some available later in the draft. Nevertheless, I'm sending Carnell Tate to the Cleveland Browns, number seven. The Washington Commanders are on the clock. This right here is where I see Jeremiah Love come off the board. Prior to free agency, it was kind of widely thought that Washington was hoping one of those three edges, maybe Reese or Bailey or Bain, would drop to him here. But they made a pretty big splash in free agency there. So I think Jeremiah Love is the spark in the backfield that has been unspectacular for like a decade. This is a stat that sounds like a college football stat here, but it's an NFL stat. It's a rare paper popper of a mock draft stat. Washington, no thousand yard rusher since 2014, which is utterly insane. That was Alfred Morris, by the way. So he's a game breaker. Jeremiah loves a game breaker. Sub 44 speed. He can break tackles. He's really good out of the backfield catching the ball. And you pair him with Jaden Daniels and you think about the strain it puts on front sevens. If they hit on this draft, they're right back in that picture. Right back in the thick of things in the nfc. Number eight, New Orleans Saints. This is where I'm sending Reuben Bain. So some would even call this dropping for him. If you're dropping to number eight, you're in a pretty good position. So I'm sending Ruben Bane out of Miami to New Orleans. They made some moves on the offensive line and running back in the draft, but they lost to Mario Davis. Alante Taylor's gone. They'll probably lose Cam Jordan. So everyone's talking about Reuben Bain's arm length except me. I haven't brought it up all that much actually, other than to just mention that everyone else is talking about it. Every draft America collectively decides to overthink the room on one or two particular things. And that one or two particular things this year I think includes Reuben Bane's arm length. It'd be one thing if he played his football behind a curtain and we didn't have the tape. We've got the tape, so just put on the tape. It's a rare occasion where you watch the tape and I'm not saying ignore the measurements. I'm saying let the tape do more talking than the measurements. So Reuben Bain to New Orleans and then just preemptive congratulations to Saints fans if that happens. Kansas City is next up. All right, Kansas City lost their top two corners. I am sending them a corner and a really good one. One of the great names of the draft, by the way, Mansoor Delane out of Virginia Tech and then lsu. He's pretty commonly picked here in a lot of mock drafts. Ton of experience, played at a high level at Virginia Tech, played at a high level at lsu. He's really physical, good in man, good in zone. Very, very NFL ready player in Mansoor. Delinquent, actually. Don't have a ton to say about him. His tape speaks for itself. And then there were some questions, you know, about his 40 time and then LSU Pro Day comes around and he just destroys it down there. So I'm going to feel very confident and comfortable sending Mansour Delane to Kansas City Giants back on the clock. Maybe we'll get some pushback on this one, but who cares? I'm going to send Jordan Tyson, wide receiver out of Arizona State to the New York Giants. So since he and the Giants pulled off a trade and that sent Dexter Lawrence just straight up to the Bengals for this number 10 pick. That's why the Giants are here. So they bolster defense with the number five pick, which we just told you about a second ago. So I think it makes sense if they do that for them to then turn around and look offensively here, outside of Malik Neighbors, they really don't have that much going on and Neighbors is coming off an ACL injury. So I think Tyson rightfully is flying up boards after a healthy workout. The only real question about him, or at least the main question about him is health related. Like we said the other day in our wide receiver draft preview, if you were to do nothing more than guarantee me 15 plus healthy games from him, he may be wide receiver one actually in the draft. He's that good. He has that good a high end potential. Miami, Miami doesn't need a whole lot of prayers at the college level, but in the pro level absolutely they do. I am sending Georgia tackle Monroe Freeling to the Miami Dolphins. The roster is terrible, but they have 11 draft picks. You got to start from the inside out if you're looking to rebuild and it's a multi draft rebuild here. Monroe Freeling has all the makings of a franchise left tackle, 6, 7, 3, 15. The one thing that he lacks is a ton of experience. He only started one year. It was a really, really good campaign. It's obvious that they've got to use the draft to start putting building blocks together and Monroe Freeling I think readily fits that description. So I'd send him to Miami and that brings Dallas onto the clock. Next I will send Caleb Downs to the Dallas Cowboys. I think a lot of people are going to look at this and say Caleb Downs is not going to be still available at 12. You may be right because we struggle with this too. 12 is probably the absolute floor. This is probably the lowest that you would see Caleb Downs fall in the draft. But they, the Cowboys being they need to upgrade past defense. They allowed the most pass yards last season and it'd be somewhat of a mild surprise but like a huge blessing for Dallas, I'll grant you if Caleb Downs were to still be on the board here. So if he falls all the way to his floor, it's no further than 12 and Dallas is a beneficiary of it. A lot of people out there like Peter Schrager's readily talked about how he doesn't think Caleb Downs will be available here. He may be right, but if he is, wherever he goes, he comes in and immediately bolsters not only a secondary but a franchise in the process. Rams up next, Los Angeles Rams, 13th overall. I am sending them Makai Lemon, wide receiver out of usc. It is a luxury pick for them. I think they maximize the pick and taking Makai Lemon does just that. It also clears a needle and I think he profiles early on as a high level slot receiver. But if they choose, if the Rams choose to move on from Devonte Adams, he can form a really, really good duo with Nakua for the foreseeable future for next year and years to come. I know a lot of people are mocking Kenyon Siddiq here, the tight end from Oregon. I think that LA may look at another Oregon tight end, James Ferguson, to maybe take a leap and so not necessarily circle tight end as the position of need here. Maybe like some mock dress that I've seen have them. So I wouldn't be shocked by it, but we're sending Makai Lemon to LA or we're Keeping him in la. Baltimore next up. Okay, so you got wide receiver, inside offensive line, db. Those are kind of the positions of need here. We're going to send Vega Ione to Baltimore from Penn State. The guard there in pass pro gave up zero sacks and one QB hit in three years as a starter. It's the kind of stat I should read again, but I don't want to because we have 32 picks to get. Yeah, I'll do it. Whatever. He gave up zero sacks and one QB hit across three years as a starter, so he's the picker. Wide receiver would not be a shot, but they lost their starting center to free agency and they can go get the number one inside offensive lineman in the draft. I think they do it here with Ione. Next up, Tampa on the clock. Give me Keldrick Falk. Auburn edge to Tampa. They got a clear need there. Todd Bowles, you watched them last year. If you did kind of had to get aggressive, not much pressure with the front four. Had to accomplish that via blitz packages. Keldrick Faulk does a lot in the way of allowing them to play a lot more how they want to. I think that you could look at Mazidor here. The thing is, I'm going to opt for the player that's five years younger and maybe has the higher ceiling. That was my thinking, by the way, in Keldrick Falkir over a guy like Hakeem Mazidor. World class strength, good length and athleticism, uses the arms very well, uses his hands very well. He's a good player. He was overlooked a little bit in the SEC last year because Auburn had a down year, but he did not. So I think Keldrick fought to Tampa. Jets are up again. Acquired this pick from the Colts. Jermad McCoy, cornerback. Tennessee is headed to New York. They could look wide receiver there as the cupboard is admittedly pretty bare behind Garrett Wilson. But there's an argument to be made that McCoy is the best corner in this draft and jets got two other picks in the second round so they can find another playmaker there I think if they need to. But they will not find a lockdown corner at that point in the draft. So that's why I have him taking Jermad McCoy here. Spencer Fano, Kaden Proctor, Avion, Terrell. Like Terrell, if you want to go corner, you could go him. I just think Jermod McCoy when healthy is he's got the chance to be immediate plug and play but also he's the guy I think with the Highest point potential, highest Sunday potential. Next up, Detroit. Let's send Spencer Fano to Detroit. They need offensive line help. They made the NFC championship game three years ago and they were built through their offensive line there. Offensive line should be the pick here. The decision is probably between Spencer Fano or Caden Proctor. And I think that, you know, if you take either one here, we're sending them Spencer Fano. You can bump Penne Sewell to left tackle. You could play Fano at right tackle if need be. But if all the offensive tackles are off the board, if there's a run, if Freeling's gone, Mawagoa is gone, Proctor's gone, Fano's gone. It may make a lot of sense to look at Akeem Mazador here and maybe pair him with Aiden Hutchinson. But we still have Fano on the board and Proctor on the board. So we'll send one of those and by one of those, I mean Spencer Fano to Detroit. That brings us to Minnesota at pick number 18. And with the 18th overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, we're sending Dylan Thinnerman, Oregon safety, to Minnesota. There's laughter because all throughout his career, anytime we were talking about him last year and all throughout our NFL draft preview coverage and right now I said his last name really quickly because I've never had it roll off the tongue theanimon but I always say thinnamon. It's how I've always. The ie I'm not a big fan of. That's why I say chiffs instead of Chiefs. Just not a fan of it. I really think we could have done better in the English language. Okay. You could go a number of different directions here. The Vikings kind of feel like they're in this, this like nebulous, sort of sort of weird in between world. They had to let multiple high level defensive players go. And yet on offense they're kind of already looking past JJ McCarthy. So I think this pick ends up being defensive focused. All indicators maybe that Harrison Smith's retiring. So looks like either Emmanuel McNeil, Warren or Dylan Theeneman. We're going to go thienaman and this just really. I put, I put a lot of stock in the tape and his tapes there. He was a really, really good player for them last year. He's got eight career picks. He can jump lanes, he's really, really good at the point of attack. Either pick would be fine. But we went Thienaman. 19th overall pick, Carolina on the clock. We're sending Caden Proctor to Carolina. He pairs back up with Bryce Young. This is the left tackle out of Alabama. They locked up their two biggest needs at edge and linebacker with free agent signings. And so the other need is offensive line and we're addressing it here. It could be Spencer Fano if Proctor goes before him, but either or would be a fit here and you need consistent run game help. Bryce Young needs it and that is Caden Proctor's M.O. a team picking him, they're going to have to factor in the conditioning. They're going to have to trust in the plan they have for him. He's got to be on board with it. All the concerns I've seen with Kaden Proctor are well within his control because from the God given ability standpoint, he's got it all. So I mean you've watched him 67350 shouldn't really move like he does, but yet it does and you can make the argument his best ball is still ahead of him. Dallas back on the clock. Next number 20 overall. Dallas acquired this pick via Green Bay. How about San Diego State's Chris Johnson, cornerback? I think the Cowboys go defense with both picks as you've heard, so Mazador is a high floor option. It'd fit the window that Cowboys are looking to squeeze into this year. But I think maybe some concerns there lengthwise push him inside and Cowboys are loaded there. So absent that, if they don't go that route, I think it's too early to take a swing on C.J. allen. I think maybe there are some people who would think C.J. allen here, I'm going, Chris Johnson, the tape is flawless. Really. It comes down to how much do you question whether that level of play or maybe that caliber of competition translates to the NFL. And if that's not a concern for you, then Chris Johnson is a slam dunk pick here at 20. Let's go Pittsburgh next because this is going to be another one of those picks that has the same theme to it as Chris Johnson. Emmanuel McNeil, Warren is a safety out of Toledo and likewise people are going to look and if we want to pick him apart, we're going to say, boy, what about the, what about the caliber of competition? Now you used to not think that way because it used to be that high level draft picks all the time came from the G5 ranks. But nowadays the thinking, and this is somewhat lazy, but this is the thinking is that, well, anyone who's worth a first round draft pick at the college level has long since transferred to one of the major programs by the time they're Draft eligible. So if so again, I didn't say this is my thinking. I said this is a way of thinking. If a guy's still at Toledo, if a guy's still at San Diego State instead of Texas or Oregon or something like that, is he really worth the first round pick? Well, yes is our answer because we got both of them coming off the board back to back here. Prior to free agency. Wide receiver would have been my pick here, but they traded for Michael Pittman. That's less of a need. Keeping an eye on Ty Simpson here. But I think yeah, there's also a needed inside offensive line. But I think the biggest need is safety and this is the most intriguing pick. This is the pick I'd go with. 64201. He fits the Steelers sort of defensive identities. Rangy, athletic, ball hawk type guy, really good at forcing turnovers, fills an immediate need. Chargers up next. All right, this is where Akeem Mezador comes off the board out of Miami. He goes to the Chargers. He could go as high as the teens. This would be considered maybe a little bit of a slide for him. There's a need for another impact player at edge and he can eat up some defensive tackle reps too. But this fills two needs for a team that believes it's ready to compete. He's a ready made product. He's 25 years old. You know what you're getting with him. High motor, high physicality level. He's a plug and play guy. Really good match for a Jim Harbaugh team. And then I think they can turn their focus to inside offensive line on day two. Philadelphia next on the clock, number 23 overall pick. This is where I think Oregon tight end Kenyan Sadiq comes off the board because they got three major needs in Philadelphia. Right tackle is a need, Pass rush is a need. Tight end is a need. And I think Sadiq is the most intriguing prospect here. I think Blake Miller or Caleb Lomu make a lot of sense here too. Eagles, if you've just watched them over their franchise history, they got a penchant for drafting premium positions like a year or two ahead and this really fits sort of the movie what they would do. Ken Yan Sidi is a really good player. There are elements of his game still developing. I mean probably out of all the guys that we're sending first round here, probably guy I'm most excited to see develop over the next two or three years at the NFL level. Cleveland yet again on the clock. This pick acquired via Jacksonville. This is where we think Caleb Lomu comes off the board. The offensive tackle out of Utah. One of them at least. Browns have a little flexibility here and they still need help on offensive line. Edge, corner. Don't think quarterback is an option here. And the feeling at least is that if Cleveland doesn't go o line with the number six pick, then that's what they'll do here. So could be a cornerstone. Left tackle, really good player. 66313 is, as you see, first team all big 12 in 2025. Really good player. Chicago. Up next, number 25 overall pick. I think this may be where Kaden McDonald comes off the board. The defensive tackle out of Ohio State. Finding a safety should be a key to play alongside Kobe Bryant, but this is not a place to. It's not a place in this draft, at least to get one. And neither is finding wide receiver. Three, neither is finding an inside offensive lineman if the draft is shaken out this way. So I think safety drops off after the top three. And that's why by default, we're going Caden McDonald here. We're going defensive tackle here. Now it could be Peter woods as well. Peter Woods, Cade McDonald, I think one of those would come off the board here. The Bears were 27th in overall run D last year. NFC has no shortage of top end rushing attacks. So I've got to plug my middle. So I got to take a defensive tackle here. I think it's Kaden McDonald's 26th overall pick. Okay, this is where I got Georgia's linebacker coming off the board. C.J. allen. Because Buffalo lacks any star power at linebacker. Well, the draft lacks it, but this is a really good player and he's a Georgia defensive captain. He became a plug and play starter. I think he fits the more prototypical linebacker role than maybe Anthony Hill. It's a clear need for Buffalo. He's a do everything sort of linebacker. I definitely think this pick should focus on the defensive side of the ball. I mean, Buffalo allowed 30 plus to the Broncos offense in the playoffs. They got to put Josh Allen in a position and not have to go out and win every game. And this is taking a step in that direction. San Francisco's up next. That is the 27th overall pick. I'll send Clemson's Peter woods here to San Francisco. They signed Mike Evans at wide receiver. That helps. But I think the most obvious need after that is defensive line. Mike clay over at ESPN has the 49ers tied with the Raiders for the worst interior defensive line. Right now. We got to address it. And Peter woods, he can play across the interior of the defensive line. He can eat up double teams especially. You go watch his first and second years at Clemson and even if there was a little bit of a drop off in production last year, you know what's there. You know what he's capable of. He's six' three, nearly £300. He's a first team all ACC guy. He'll be a good player. Should be a good player for a long time for San Francisco if they so choose to take him there. Houston is next on the clock. I'm sending Blake Miller, the other offensive tackle out of Utah, to Houston, Clemson. My bad. I was looking at somebody else. Hold on, hold on, hold on. We have to correct these notes for the draft cast. There we go. Texans elite defense, offense, train wreck. We love trains. We hate train wrecks. They could not protect CJ Stroud. It was really sort of a little bit depressing to watch the playoff game. Fun to watch it in the snow. Depressing to watch the overall output couldn't run the ball either. Entire unit just collapsed. So it feels like a high floor option to join a team that can compete in the afc. He's a four year starter, steady, very good athletic scoring. Texans just need to add quality here. It's not a franchise that is in desperation mode. So Blake Miller, allegedly out of Utah, but realistically out of Clemson. Next up here. Kansas City's on the board at 29. All right, Omar Cooper Jr. Wide receiver out of Indiana. That's my selection here. Wide receiver. Cupboards little bit bare again in Kansas City. You got Mahomes coming off the ACL injury, Travis Kelsey back for one more year. I got to give him a weapon that can play inside or outside. Need him a weapon that can be explosive after the catch. Omar Cooper Jr. If you watched him last year, good at all those things, he's versatile, but he's also a yards after catch monster and that's particularly what I love for Kansas City and for them to get in this situation. Miami is on the board again at number 30. And at number 30, I'm staying at receiver and I'm taking Casey Concepcion out of Texas A and M. They are clearly at Miami looking to bottom out and reload through a couple of drafts here. And we already sent him Monroe Freeling. Let's get him help at wide receiver here. It's honestly a spot where you just look at the best available and the best player on our board at this spot is a huge position of need for them. Most positions down there are at this point wide Receiver course scary bad. Concepcion is one of the best after catch players in this draft and so it's not going to turn the franchise around overnight but it at least gets us started down there. New England is at 31. Let's stick it Wide receiver again. Little run at wide receiver happening towards the end of the first round. Denzel Boston out of Washington. I think if the draft falls this way, I think they take wide receiver here New England and there's plenty of edge and tight end depth the rest of the draft if they need to attack those needs. But Denzel Boston, he's a big kid. He's 6, 4, 2, 10, 215 in that range. Third team all Big Ten last year but he wins downfield and that's where Drake may likes to throw the ball and he gives the Patriots another option in the pass game after Diggs left via free agency. So three wide receivers in a row here and then to round out the first round Seattle on the clock. Super bowl champs. Let's head to South Carolina. Brandon CC the corner. Seattle lost Woolen free agency. So if they stick here then they draft his replacement. It's pretty simple. Csay is a physical corner. It fits what Mike McDonnell likes to do. They add a corner looks to be the biggest need next to running back but it's thin running back class so we didn't really think anyone made sense here. At his best, his tape really pops. He's still developing feel for the game so he's look, if you're trying to get developed at that position, you're going to the right place. So Brandon C. Say from South Carolina goes and who does that leave us as we wrap up round one? Who would that leave us? That would leave us Guys like Jadarian Price at running back still got Antonio Williams and Jeremy Bernard at wide receiver. Eli Stowers really a tight end out of Vandy. Caleb Banks first round potential at defensive tackle, injury concerns with the foot Anthony Hill out of Texas still on the board. Colton Hood. So a lot of really, really good players and I don't see any reason why we don't hit at least 28 out of 32 here. I don't see any reason why we don't but it's going to be a fun one.
