Hey, podcaster. I'm Tim Wahlberg, your podcast performance coach, with another actionable tip so you can grow your podcast authority, generate leads, and convert with ease. Today's tip is you can instantly boost your podcast confidence by remembering that you're not here to perform, you're here to serve. One of the biggest hurdles we see with business owners who want to start a podcast is confidence. They've never used a microphone before. They've never hosted a show. They've never interviewed someone officially. Maybe they've never had to present ideas like this. So they look for inspiration. And where do they look at the most successful podcasters, of course. Which leads them to believe they need broadcaster level polish, a golden voice, high profile guests. All of that leads them to envisioning off the charts podcast success. We're talking thousands of listeners, like a stadium full of listeners, all tuning in and listening to and judging every word, the crack in your voice, the ums, the ahs and the stumbles. And that's when their confidence starts to slip. Perfectionism locks them into paralysis. Their podcast starts to feel like a dream that wasn't meant for them. But here's the truth. You're not stepping on stage. You're solving a problem. Your listeners didn't press play to critique your delivery. They press play because something isn't working for them. They're stuck. They're frustrated. They're looking for clarity. They are the vulnerable one in that moment, not you. They are actively seeking someone who knows more than they do about this specific issue, and that's you. You already run a business. You already have clients. You already have proof that what you know works. Even if you only know a little bit more than your listener, that still puts you in the position to help. Podcast confidence doesn't come from trying to sound impressive. It comes from remembering your role. You are in service to your listener. Just one listener. Not thousands, just one listener who puts their earbuds in and presses play. It's just you and them. So here's a practical shift that helps my clients feel a lot more confident behind the mic. Instead of imagining a giant audience, imagine one person you've already helped. Picture them sitting across from you in your office at a coffee shop, across the desk, or even on a zoom. They raise their hand and say, I'm struggling with this. You've had this conversation a hundred times before. You know where they're stuck. You know the common mistakes. You have a story that will help them feel less alone in their struggle. You know the path forward. Now talk to that one person. Explain it the way you would in real life, calmly, clearly, without theatrics. That's podcasting. You don't need punchlines. You don't need a broadcaster's voice. You don't need to be perfect. You need to be useful. And if imposter syndrome creeps in, here's something practical you can do. This one comes from my partner here at Podcast performance coach Valerie McTavish. She calls it a kudos collection. It's easy to create. It's just a folder or document either on your computer or a Google Drive. It's. It could even be a note on your notes app. Any place where you can paste every testimonial, every thank you email, every five star review, every message from someone who said your work helped them. It doesn't have to be fancy or high design. Just copy and paste those love notes in there. When your confidence dips, go read it. Read one or two, or read them all. Read until you feel your confidence bounce back. Sure, it's kind of like stroking your ego, but I like to think of it more as reviewing the evidence. Evidence that you've already made an impact. Evidence that you already know enough. Evidence that putting yourself out there is worth it. Confidence doesn't come from pretending you're better than your listener or faking it until you make it. It comes from remembering that you've walked this path before and you're simply turning around to guide someone else through it. You are not performing, you are serving. And when you approach the microphone that way, the pressure drops and the joy skyrockets. And I hope that's just the tip you need. If confidence is the thing holding you back from starting or growing your podcast, that's something we work through with our clients here all the time.
