Nzinga

Deval
Stand up.
Crystal Renee
Make some noise one more time for the beautiful Crystal Renee.
Zaniel
All right, now, y'all know I done went to Fashion Week. Who is she? Are y'all ready? I don't know if y'all ready. All right, now, listen, I'm so excited about this next segment. You know, that's what I do for y'all.
Crystal Renee
You.
Zaniel
That's. I show out for y'all. I'm gonna do my big one for y'all every time now. So we are bringing the cast of your favorite series. Am I? To the kip stage. You know them and you love them. And if you like me, you done yelled at them. They are the topic of your relationships and your group chat. I'm talking about none other than my girls. Nzinga, Zaniel, Come on out here. Hey, hey. All right, y'all, we'll arrive. Hey, gotta be smart about it. Singing singer, sing girl. Got this ponytail.
Crystal Renee
Yo, yo, yo, yo, yo. I know for a fact they not gonna have me on the show. Have they lost their.
Zaniel
What are you doing?
Crystal Renee
How you not gonna invite Zach to Kiss? What's happening?
Zaniel
Yeah, what's up?
Deval
Excuse me.
Crystal Renee
Excuse me.
Deval
Excuse me.
Zaniel
Well, all right. See how the tables have turned?
Crystal Renee
What's up, Kiss family? Can I. Can I get a little comfortable? Can I get a little. Can I get a little comfortable?
Zaniel
Go ahead. Okay.
Crystal Renee
Oh. Oh, she's doing booty shorts. He taking his comfortable.
Zaniel
What is going on? This ain't a strip.
Crystal Renee
I. I could strip. Okay.
Zaniel
What?
Crystal Renee
Hey. My mother. My mother didn't say. Got it.
Zaniel
All right, all right.
Crystal Renee
My mother's in here. Mom.
Zaniel
Mister, this. He said, my mother's in here.
Crystal Renee
I'm doing an interview like this now. Wow. It's a Sunday. Come on. All right, all right. Can we please give it up for the ladies of. Of Zatima? So I'm going to be professional. Crystal. Crystal. I love y'all, too. I appreciate y'all. Crystal said, I want you to do this. Deval, do you have questions for us? I said, of course I do. She said, I'll write you some. I said, all right. So I have these cards.
Zaniel
He ain't about to listen. He was not about to read none of them cards.
Crystal Renee
I'm gonna be professional.
Zaniel
It's the crossing of the line.
Crystal Renee
You can call me Devopra Winfrey. You get a call, you get a car. No, you don't get no cards. You don't get no cards. Nothing. All right? No. First and foremost, ladies, look at where you are. Look at where you are. Can we give another round of applause for these women, please? Has. Has this moment been everything you guys thought it was going to be?
Danielle
No. God keeps blowing my mind. Like, God continues to blow my mind with this journey. Like, every time I think that I've reached. Oh, I get it. I don't get it. I'm constantly learning. And people love our show like, they. Y'all love Sativa. We love y'all.
Zaniel
Yes, they do.
Crystal Renee
So, Crystal, do got some questions on here. I'm not about to ask none of these questions. Crystal.
Zaniel
Yes.
Crystal Renee
You know you one of my best friends, yo.
Zaniel
Yeah, that's my dog, y'all.
Crystal Renee
You from a small town, Martin, Tennessee. Now, look, all of these people from celebrities, people who bought tickets, DJs, they all here for you. What does it feel like to build your own empire?
Zaniel
First giving honor to God? Nothing without him is possible. I'm blown away. And I had to thank you, Dee, because you set the foundation for the podcasting for me. I saw you doing it. I saw you and Kadeem killing it. And I remember when I first booked Sisters, and you and I became love interests on the show, and once you got to know me, you were like, yo, like, you need to start speaking more on your Instagram. Like, nobody really knows who you are, and you're really dope. And I was like, I am.
Crystal Renee
You're welcome. You're welcome, you're welcome.
Zaniel
And I remember you pushing me to put myself more out there, and I was trying to find that balance because we had so many conversations about social media and me taking the comments to heart and feelings being hurt, you know, and wanting to know how much can I open up to people. I love y'all, too, but thank you. Thank you for that. But to see where I am now and to have all these amazing people, and this is just a fraction of the people that really ride for all of us, you know? So it was so special for me and important for me to make sure that I share this moment with you guys as well. And I just. I'm.
Crystal Renee
I know you gonna cry. I see it. I see.
Zaniel
They get a glisty. They get a glisten. I'm not gonna cry. But to be, like, from a small town where people get stuck because that's all they know. And for God to have put this vision inside me at a very young age, for me to see that there's more to this world than Martin, Tennessee, and where I'm from is a beautiful town, but there's so much more.
Crystal Renee
Yes.
Zaniel
So I'm just I'm just grateful, man.
Crystal Renee
We love you, Chris.
Zaniel
I love y'all too.
Crystal Renee
We love you.
Zaniel
I love you too, man. Thank you.
Crystal Renee
And Zanga Zing a Linger Ling. Now, I have. I have a question, because, like I said, like, these are questions I really want to ask y'all as being like a homie to y'all. You've been a part of the fashion industry for way before people knew you, right? But we live in a very vain world where beauty is supposed to look one way. How do you continue to persevere?
Nzinga
I keep showing up and showing out, period. No, but truly, I mean, that's one way. But also, I have to say, like, Crystal continues to be an example in so many different ways, because there's a lot of times where people comment things and I'm ready to say something back, and then I just gotta be like, keep it positive, sweetie. You are better than this. You are better than. So you're constantly inspiration, even just how to deal with those situations. But both of you have set great examples of how to lead this cast in humility and grace. And I am so grateful that we got you guys as an example coming into this, because it was a learning experience, you know, it was.
Zaniel
It was definitely.
Nzinga
And we came in with so much preparation because you guys made sure that we were. So shout out to y'all.
Crystal Renee
Thank you. So, Jazzy. Hey, Deja. Damn it, Deja. How many times y'all done heard that?
Zaniel
Damn.
Crystal Renee
There you go.
Nzinga
Hi, Zacky.
Zaniel
All right, now, so calm down.
Danielle
Your mama is here.
Zaniel
Listen. And you, too.
Crystal Renee
Look, I ain't even gonna look at her when I ask this question. I don't see nothing. I just. But no, seriously. We met originally back in 2018. And here's a funny story. We were putting together this whole Zatima cast, and Crystal and I were just talking about people that we knew, and the role of Deja came up, and I said, crystal, what do you think about Watch Jazzy? And Crystal said, she's perfect.
Zaniel
Yes. That was the conversation, literally.
Crystal Renee
And this is the crazy part. We thought you were perfect because of Toya Turnup. Now, this is my question. Shout out to Toya Turnup. I know a lot of you know Toya Turnup.
Nzinga
Should I bring her back?
Zaniel
Yes.
Nzinga
She been down for a minute.
Crystal Renee
Okay, bring her back, and I'm gonna tell you. I'm gonna tell you why I think you should bring her back. But my question is, you've gone through so many transitions from 2018 to now. Now you're a mom. What is it? Like, to show so many different sides of yourself on social media.
Nzinga
Oh, my gosh. You know what? First of all, hey, besties. It's hard. It's hard because it's like, you get on one way and people love you for that thing. And then you grow and you're like, I'm not that no more. I'm not experiencing that anymore. But some people still are, but they still want you to be there. And you're like, okay, well, I'm actually doing this now. And it's hard because not everybody comes with you on your journey and on your ride. And, you know, a lot of times people like, oh, you used to do this. You used to. I remember when you used to. Used to. And I'm just like, gosh, like, I'm a mom now. My daughter is my life. I wake up and I'm immediately a slave. Like, literally, you know. You know, you wake up and instantly you're serving.
Crystal Renee
Yeah, I got four of them. I don't. I don't own my life no more.
Nzinga
I'm so. I'm blessed to have gone through so many different.
Crystal Renee
No. Because you made me think I got shit to do when I get home, guys.
Zaniel
Right?
Crystal Renee
Yeah, we gotta hurry up. I just. No, that's fine.
Nzinga
I'm blessed to have. You know, to have gone through so many different things, and I've showed so much of my life on social media, and now I feel like I'm really enjoying just the privacy that I'm creating for myself and for my daughter, you know? You know, just with nobody knowing what she looks like or just anything. Just protecting her. Protecting us. Because people are very weird and mean. And let me tell you something. If anybody say anything about my child, if I ever post my child, anything you have to say, you already know what it. It's like straight up.
Crystal Renee
Keep it positive, but keep it purposeful, because I will purposely kick somebody ass. They talk about my kids. Straight up. My mother ain't here too. Ma. Where you at? You my mother. Listen, my mother told me this is a true story. Sorry to cut you off.
Zaniel
No, you're good.
Crystal Renee
My mother. My mother told me one time I came over, I had a scratch on my face. It was a little girl. Little girl scratching my face, right? My mother said, come here.
Zaniel
Oh, my God. This is like a house. You saw.
Crystal Renee
What's this on your face? I was like, no, this little girl hit me. Her name was Tabitha, but it's okay. My mother said, no, it's not okay. It's not. Tabitha's not outside of an ass whooping. I said, ma, she's a girl. She said, I'm a girl, too, Mama. We going to see Tabitha right now.
Zaniel
Exactly. Exactly. Shout out, Mom.
Crystal Renee
Shout out my mom. I love you, Mom. My bad chat.
Nzinga
But, yeah, just, you know, protecting her privacy and just really enjoying being a mom and not trying to post everything. Because sometimes, like, you can post things and you're like, wow, I'm really not being present. I'm just trying to get this content. But when you put your phone down real quick and you're able to really just be in that moment, you create so many memories that you might not have on your phone, but you have them in here.
Crystal Renee
So that's good.
Nzinga
Right now. That's what I'm really focusing on.
Crystal Renee
I'm glad you said that, because to your right is another young. Another young woman who irks my nerves on tv. She irked my nerves. But what y'all don't know, though, is I love her in real life.
Zaniel
I do, too, Danielle.
Danielle
Thank you, Deval.
Crystal Renee
Danielle. Yeah, that's my girl. Like, me and her father share a birthday. So if y'all see her on the street, please be kind to Danielle.
Zaniel
All right?
Crystal Renee
Fuck, Belinda. Be kind to Danielle. Sorry, Ma, I gotta wash my mouth.
Danielle
You can get your ass whooped like Tabitha.
Crystal Renee
I know, I'm sorry. But go ahead, though. Danielle, what has it been like for you being a mom now and being in your active space? I know. Somebody is a lead now in a movie.
Zaniel
Come on. Come on, Darwin. Say name. I want to say that. Thanks, guys.
Danielle
Yes. It's crazy. Have a new movie coming out. Darwin comes out to AMC Networks and all black March 28th.
Crystal Renee
Clap that up. Clap that up.
Danielle
And I was leading that movie and breastfeeding in between. I mean, pumping milk and doing these 50. And I literally had someone come up to me, you know, one of the PAs, and she was like, are you documenting this? And I'm like, document what? I gotta get this milk. Then I gotta go to lunch and I gotta do a rehearsal. And she's like, you inspire so many people just by sharing. And sometimes I don't share enough because I know how much people. People are struggling. You know, I'll book a role. And I don't share it immediately on social media because I'm thinking about somebody who didn't get a call back this week. And it's like, actually, you're supposed to share and inspire and be a blessing, you know? Guilty. Yeah. For favor on your life that can't nobody do nothing about that. But what I'm saying is how I feel. I. I just. I feel like I just keep trying to prove to God that I can handle more. You know, every time he gives me something, I feel like I'm like, Because I was a teacher's pet and that's how I treat the Lord. I be like, God, you see me? You see me. I did it with a good attitude, like, you know what I'm saying? So I'm just constantly pushing to be able to handle more. And I feel like being a mother has just completely stretched my capacity. I had to learn to have faith for this kid. That was crazy, because it's like, me, I don't care. I've got all the faith I need. But it was like, wait a minute. There's a thing outside of you that you love more than anything in this world, and you have to learn how to have faith for him, right? So that's what really stretched me because I like to think about being in the gym, building muscles and faith when it comes to God. So, baby, I was on the bench press like, it was heavy. But when I went through childbirth, I realized that the enemy ain't never really threw his best shot at me.
Crystal Renee
Oh, talk about that.
Danielle
Because, baby, after you drop that baby.
Crystal Renee
And you get up back, go to.
Danielle
Work, baby, you done did something.
Zaniel
Let me tell you.
Danielle
You done did something. Don't let nobody tell you otherwise. So I just. I feel so full of gratitude. And, you know, even I'm doing lead roles in films now, and that's all because of you guys. Support and supporting Belinda and supporting our show and just really allowing, you know, black talent to shine the way that we do. I feel like we have the ultimate black job.
Zaniel
Yeah. And I want to say this, Danielle, working alongside you, you are so incredible. You know, like, I was talking. Yeah. So talented, and I'm so proud of you.
Danielle
Thank you. It means so much. Y'all don't understand. This woman will give you your flowers. She is not.
Crystal Renee
Yeah.
Danielle
She will introduce you to the right people. She's a connect people, and I just. I feel like I wish everybody could get a little peek into your heart, because it is so beautiful when I talk about.
Crystal Renee
No, to be honest, I think a lot of people don't really know that. Like, I haven't. Everyone I meet in Atlanta, they be like, I know Crystal. I'm like, how do you. How could you possibly know Crystal? Everybody, the highest person in the. In the freaking studio or at a network, to the lowest person that works at the lowest place you can think, know Crystal and have a story of how Crystal has done something to help push their life forward. That is just a fact. That's. That's how we got close.
Zaniel
That's how we got close.
Danielle
That's why you're so blessed.
Crystal Renee
I mean, shoot me and da Vinci in the back talking about stuff, legacy, to be honest, this is how things happen in our community. When good people create a space like this where we can all get together and meet and learn from each other. That's how we continue to grow as people. I know that there's so many people that I've met in the back recently, just now, that I'm like, oh, you do this, you do that. How come we can't do this together?
Zaniel
Yeah.
Crystal Renee
And even in the audience, you should look to the person to your left or to your right, find out what they're doing and say, hello.
Deval
I can't.
Crystal Renee
What you say? I couldn't hear. There's a lot of entrepreneurs. This is Atlanta. Just make sure if you have a business, customer service.
Zaniel
Come on now.
Crystal Renee
It's of paramount importance.
Zaniel
Yes.
Crystal Renee
Because I'd been to some places in Atlanta. I had some crab legs. Some places.
Zaniel
Okay.
Tahira Watson
Devout.
Crystal Renee
How you run a crab leg shop? You run out of crab legs?
Danielle
I bet they had that green wall.
Crystal Renee
Listen, chicken wing spot. We don't got no more lemon pepper. What? This is Atlanta. Look, you know too, right? But no, but seriously, Crystal, we all appreciate you, yo. Like, we love you, y'all.
Danielle
We love you.
Crystal Renee
Like, you stuck with all of us.
Zaniel
No, because there was supposed to be.
Crystal Renee
About five people back there. There's 57 people back there that ain't supposed to be back there. We all here just for Crystal. So. Yo, I want to do this publicly, but I know the cast. We love you, yo, I love y'all, too.
Zaniel
Thank you so much.
Crystal Renee
Hey, congrats, baby.
Zaniel
You.
Crystal Renee
So.
Zaniel
Thank you. Thank you guys so much. I love you guys.
Crystal Renee
Thank you. And I love. I'mma do this. I appreciate you.
Deval
I'mma do this.
Zaniel
No, you gonna get at my seat.
Crystal Renee
No, no, I'm.
Zaniel
I'm.
Crystal Renee
I'm getting out. But I'mma do this one time, right? Do this one time. Cause y'all see me do it. Yeah.
Zaniel
What'd you say?
Danielle
I don't know.
Crystal Renee
I was just gonna say, okay, legs. Because, you know, I always comment on all her stuff on social media. But y'all see the legs. Okay. Okay, legs. I love y'all. I'm out of here.
Zaniel
Thank you so much.
Nzinga
Yes.
Zaniel
Thank you so much. I love you, lady.
Crystal Renee
They tried to not invite Zach.
Deval
Hell, no.
Crystal Renee
Zach.
Zaniel
I love y'all. Love y'all. All right, we are to the end. And my favorite part of the show. Are y'all ready for this? Thank you. So I asked you all to write in to our Positive outcomes listener letter so that you could come on stage with me. So please welcome Tahira Watson and Jamana Turner. Ladies, you guys are here. Thank you so much for coming, seriously. And thank you for writing in. I love you guys for your support, and I want to pour into you. So you have a question for me, and I'll let you go first.
Tahira Watson
So my question was, how do you deal with wanting to step out onto your own independence when you feel like your family depends on you for whatever it may be as stability, in a sense, with my family, per se. So the household I grew up in, it's normal to stay at home till you get married and then just venture out on your own after that. But I feel like now it's at the point where a lot of it is because more so instead of just being there to support me, but more so trying to shelter me from things that are in the outside world.
Zaniel
Yeah. Wow. So you want advice on what you should do? All right. Tahira, I would say. And I've dealt with this, you know, even being where I am now. And I've always been the risk taker of the family, you know, and my family, I love them, but my parents played it very safe. They were always at get an education, get a degree, and get a good job with a 401k and start a family. So when I was in college, I knew by 25, I'd be married, having kids, and that was what was laid out for me. But I had so much more that I wanted to do. And often my parents did not understand that, you know, and if I had have listened, because at that point, you're an adult, you know, so it's not like we're telling children to not obey and listen to their parents. When you get to an age where you can make your decisions on your own, I feel like you should take a stance and do what's best for you and let your family know that you love them and that you're always going to be for them, because you can't choose your family. They're stuck with them for life, you know? But there is. There comes a time where you have to really ask yourself, what do I want? What does Tahira want? And go for that, because you never want to look back on your life and bay like. And be like, what would it have been like if I had stepped out on faith? You know, I never want to live my life with regret. And I'm gonna tell you guys a story. This was President Obama's first campaign. I did everything my parents told me to do. I got an education. I got the great job on Capitol Hill. Got a great job, 401k, all the things. And President Obama's. Well, at that point, he was Senator Obama, his assistant came and said, hey, we got some paid jobs for the campaign. Do you want to come do it? Me being the risk taker, I'm ready to quit this job and go work for this black man. I'm like, hell, yeah. Sign me up. My parents are like, no. Like, why would you do that? He's not going to win. In my mind, because we're coming from a small town. Remember where I'm from, we don't see that. I think a lot of black people was like, ain't no way. If we're honest with ourselves. They're like, why are you going to quit this job and go do this? For them, it was more about loyalty, making sure that you stay with the people that gave you a shot. Senator Lamar Alexander from my state gave me a shot, but I really wanted to go work on that campaign. Two years later, we had President Obama. And my parents at that moment said, we will never tell you what not to do because you could be working in the White House right now. So. So I say to you, Tahira, go for what you want. Love your family, Respect your family, but don't live your life with regrets. Okay? All right. You're welcome. All right, is it jamana or Jamuna? Jamona. Jamona. What is your question for me?
Tahira Watson
So I'm 31. I just turned 31 in February, and I'm a virgin. I'm saving myself for marriage.
Zaniel
That's amazing.
Crystal Renee
Yes.
Zaniel
Give it up for Jamana. Wow.
Tahira Watson
But when it comes to dating, that always throws the guys off. I was actually just talking to a guy, and he's like, you're great. Like, you have your own. But I can't save myself from marriage. And I always run into this issue, and I'm, like, trying to put myself out there, and I'm kind of getting a little discouraged because every guy that I meet is like, that's a no. No. And so if you were my big sister, what advice would you give me?
Zaniel
Well, I am your big sister. And what I would tell you, I made the mistake of not doing what God told us to do. You know? And I'm finally coming to an understanding of why God put certain principles in place, and that's to protect us. You know, you think about it when you're dating someone out of wedlock and you're having sex, and the first thing you think about is when they cheat on you. It's like, you could have brought me a disease back. That's the first thing you think. Like, you put my life in jeopardy. But if you wasn't having sex, you wouldn't have to worry about that. Okay? You know what I'm saying? But I think about, like that. You think about that getting pregnant before you're ready. You think about the different stipulations. And even when you think about relationships and you have sex, I don't know if you guys can attest to this, where I'm the only one in the room, but as soon as you give yourself away, things change. It's like the scales fall from your eyes. You like, oh, he ain't even as cute as I thought he was. You'd be like, oh, you know, it's like you. All these things come up, and it's like the whole honeymoon phase is over. But if we do things the way God intended, I feel like there is something beautiful on the other side of that. So I would tell you to stand firm on what you believe. Listen, the right man will come along. I know when I read the letter, you said that even Christian men, quote, unquote, Christian men, they be. Honey, them ones in the church, be something else. Honey, listen, they have something else. So you have to stand firm on that. And the Bible also says instead of doing those things, it's also okay to be single. Honestly, it says that. So a lot of times you have to wait until the right man finds you. And you're 31. You're not in a rush. You still have your whole life ahead of you. I would focus on your career, your passions, and things that make you happy and save yourself for the right one. Because I'm telling you, if you don't, you're going to be picking yourself up off the floor, crying, heartbroken, and it's just not worth it, y'all. It's really not. So that's what I would tell you to do. Thank you so much. You're welcome. Thank you, ladies. Y'all give it up for these beautiful women. Give me a hug. Thank you so much. I appreciate y'all. We belong together. And you know that. I'm right, am I singing the right song all the week up till the end of the road. Still I can't let go. It's so natural. I belong to you. I love you guys so much. Before we get out of here, I wanna give some thank yous. And first and foremost, let's give a big shout out to God for getting us all here safely. Cause y'all came from everywhere. I wanna give a shout out to my sweeties and my Kip family. Now I want y'all to yell real loud for our sponsor, Bet. Y'all better tune in every week to Sistas. And now Zatima is on linear. So y'all make sure y'all check us out on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Give it up for my girls, Pretty Vee Be Simone. Jazzy Shamia, my favorite new R and B artist. Did y'all enjoy Lee Vasi? Oh, she's so good. Christian R and B. She's amazing. Da Vinci, Deval, who just took over the show. And y'all know we cannot end this without a prayer. So I'm gonna bring out one of my favorite men of God. He hates when I call him this. Pastor Todd Galbraith.
Deval
Kim family, can we make some noise for our amazing visionary, the best podcast you can watch anywhere. Make some noise for yourselves one more time. I want you to know that I literally, I pulled up and I saw the billboard and I saw sold out. And literally, I want you to understand that this room is not sold out because of the character you play on television, but it's. It's sold out because of the character of your heart. And these women and men and whoever are watching week to week and who are in this room, like, they're not connected to a character. Like, who you are, it just explodes out. Like your heart is what makes you this incredible person. And, like, I've just kind of watched God from the vantage point that I have. Just keep elevating you and elevating you. And the thing that's so dope is you remain this amazing person that you have this stuff, but this stuff doesn't have you. And that's why we love you. That's why I did all these services and came straight here.
Zaniel
Four services today, and it came here. Thank you.
Deval
I just want to speak this over you. Eyes haven't seen, ears haven't heard. Neither has it entered into the heart of man.
Zaniel
You want to sing that.
Crystal Renee
All that.
Deval
God has prepared for you, you have not scratched the surface. And I'm so proud. I tell you this all the time. I'm so proud of you.
Zaniel
Thank you.
Deval
And I can't wait to see what God does next. Can I pray, my friend? I'mma pray. Can we stand? Is that cool? We're getting ready to go home. You've been sitting down for a long time. Outside of those of you who were twerking with the dj.
Crystal Renee
I saw you.
Deval
But let's pray. Lord, I thank you. I thank you for this amazing visionary. Thank you for my friend. I thank you for what you're doing through her, that she has not sacrificed you for an opportunity, that she tells everybody that if it had not been for the Lord, I wouldn't be where I am. And I pray that you continue to protect her, keep her open doors that no devil can shut. I thank you that, Lord, because of how she serves you, that she takes you with you on every elevation. So God, as you promote her, that you promote the kingdom of God as well. And I thank you, Lord, for every person in this room and for every person that's going to watch this podcast. Lord, let us all leave better and inspired to grow and become all that you have called us to be. Keep us safe until we meet again in Jesus name. Amen.
