Our family dog, Chloe, a mixed breed Chow Shepherd passed away a few years ago without a DNA test to determine her breed. Instead, a photo upload app called Dog Scanner has presented us with a quandary, the potential of 17 different breeds from 17 different countries. Through research, story-sharing, and gleaned knowledge, I'll be determining her breeds and travel to the countries of origin in 2030, the Year of the Dog.

Hello again. It's me, Carrie Apparcel. I'm still here trying to create content for Keepsake Doggotopia. I've been under the weather but am on the mend. I wish I could have released my episode on time, but this self-production seat-of-my-pants approach has to contend with time. I appreciate your patience. Now, on with the show! My mom, Christine, who is no longer with us had a life plan she jokingly told me over time that included school, job, house, elope, dog, and then kids. My life turned out to be school, job, marriage, kid, dog, another kid, more dogs, and still working towards a house. December 9th was my mommy's birthday. My mom got to know Chloe for at least 8 years. "Grandma Chris" had quite a lot to say about Chloe especially when we got her at a time that might have been too much all at once, but instead, it was the best decision and Chloe's love for our daughters will last for their lifetimes. Our youngest, Olivia, will tell you that our loved ones who have passed away have turned into sand and also are bright stars that shine in the sky forever. I'm thinking of my mom today especially and know that she'll be with me on this educational travel adventure in the future. It was a great day to think about dogs, especially on the tail end of the National Dog Show, which aired on Thanksgiving night. Those groups were judged on characteristics and function, so I will be using four of the seven, including Hound, Working, Non-Sporting, and Herding, to see if those pure breeds have some of my "Chloe girl" in their presentations. Also, I wanted to shout out to my godparents Toni and Craig, and my Aunt Alison and Uncle Barry for helping divide the cost to get Chloe's cremains back to me. I received a certificate that she was privately cremated and have her in a wooden box, a copy of her paw print in clay, a lovely sentimental card from the veterinary staff from that weekend as well as her collar, some hair, multiple videos, and photos to remember her by. We've even got a little sample video up on Instagram as we celebrated Thanksgiving back in 2019. I would have not had her at all if not for those lovely people. Hope you had a pleasant holiday and gave a pet to your pup. Keepsake Doggotopia is thinking of you fondly.Where to go in 2030, the Year of the Dog??Follow along and thanks for listening. Chloe was a nice dog to look at and reminded my husband, Justin, of a Chow Shepherd that was in his life in the early part of our marriage. Our two dogs missed each other by a couple of weeks. In homage to the family dog, Zoe, we named our dog Chloe which alluded to the meaning of young sprout. She was full of non-verbal cues and gestures that are reflected in the Husky, Arrow, which kept Chloe on her toes. Arrow is now introducing attention-seeking behaviors to our East German Shepherd named Grimm. The dogscanner app isn't declaring Chloe is of German Shepherd heritage so I'm keeping that breed as my wild card. Chloe also isn't the year of the dog, but rather the year of the rat. So the year of the dog will be for me to travel with Chloe in mind and when 2034 comes around, we'll have a party in Chloe's honor. Take a listen to this latest episode and tune in on the 29th for another release. Where to go in 2030, the Year of the Dog??Follow along and thanks for listening. It's me, Carrie Apparcel, and I'm a dog person though I also love on cats and lived with birds. My favorite land animal is the tiger and my favorite ocean animal is the sea turtle. I am grieving my girl, Chloe, a mixed-breed canine who passed away in 2021 without knowing her genetic makeup. There's an app downloadable for Android and Apple platforms called Dog Scanner. It gives educated predictions regarding breeds from photos uploaded from storage or live camera shots and divides the percentage of likelihood of breeds. Using the app and an array of pictures across her lifetime, the app has suggested 17 different breeds for Chloe's images. I'll be researching the breeds, the countries they originate from, the folklore of those breeds, any celebrations for the dog, and memorial tributes by other human companions of their four-legged friends. I'll devise travel itineraries to the narrowed-down countries and travel to spread Chloe's ashes in the year of the dog, 2030. Follow along and listen to what this sweet girl was and still could be.
