Hello, and welcome to this episode of Kennedy Saves the World. I'm. I'm happy Jimmy Fail is here. That means that I'm back in New York and I survived Freedom Fest in Vegas.
Jimmy Failla
Did you ever. I am. I'm here. And I have a real appreciation of what you went through, because I've watched the movie Rain man, and Kennedy has
Kennedy
multiply that times 2000.
Jimmy Failla
She has all. And they can in under a second. Kennedy has all kinds of fans. I want to be clear. She has fans from all over the spectrum, to be clear. But no, no.
Kennedy
I've got fans who are autistic and neurodivergent.
Jimmy Failla
She has fans specifically at Freedom Fest that if you remember when Trump was being like, I don't know, just don't take Tylenol when you're pregnant. Like, if he would have cut to some of the people you were talking to, you'd be like, maybe, I don't know. We got to try something. That's all I'm trying to say. But they're wonderful people. Yeah, but I. I am so fascinated by their obsession with the specificity of certain things.
Kennedy
Yes.
Jimmy Failla
And I don't have the retention, so I'm not mocking it. I'm almost envious of it, because I've done meet and greets with you where someone walks up with the energy of what would probably be a school attacker in another. And, like, on September 9, 1994, you were introducing a Nirvana video, and you said. And I'm like, oh, my. This is magic.
Kennedy
Yeah, this is magic. A guy snuck backstage and had 200 trading cards with my face on all of them from the last 30 years, and I've never seen anything like it. It was like the guy who showed up with all of you and your family, Social Security numbers and birth certificates.
Jimmy Failla
Yo, I met that guy again.
Kennedy
But it was like, I'd never seen anything like it. I was like, oh, I remember I did my own makeup for that event. Oh, that was fun. And I was like, oh, that's the night. Made out with Dennis Rodman. Oh, that was wild. I almost got fired that night again. And he was. He was very kind. He Was very respectful and very, like, decades of enthusiasm.
Jimmy Failla
Oh, I love that for you.
Kennedy
If only I could monetize that.
Jimmy Failla
Well, I got to tell you something. One of them would probably know how you could. You know, they're the original AI.
Kennedy
Yeah. I saw a guy with an uninsured T shirt on. I'm like, are you uninsured? He's like, yes, proudly. And then he. He ran me through, like, his crowdfunding for people to get medical care, but you have to donate to other people in order for people to donate to you when you need some sort of surgery or treatment. It was very pro freedom, but also a little nebulous for, you know, it's like, I'm not. And I made this point on stage at Freedom Fest. I don't know anyone who's walking around going, I love my insurance. It's the best. Insurance is amazing.
Jimmy Failla
Ain't it great?
Kennedy
Everyone's like, nah, this sucks.
Jimmy Failla
Yeah, I don't know, but that makes me. That sounds a little Ponzi scheme it to me.
Kennedy
Bur in the lead, come on. Land at JFK yesterday. Got on the 7:00am flight. This. Okay, first of all, got on the 7:00am flight from Vegas to JFK, which is hysterical because half the people on that plane have either spent the last hour barfing or they're completely dejected and broke.
Jimmy Failla
Yeah, they lost.
Kennedy
Sometimes it's. That's not mutually exclusive. It's a combination of both. Walking through the lobby at 4:55 in the morning was. It was such a gift. Like, I had never. I had never thought to myself, and now I don't think I'll ever go to Vegas again without at least one morning getting up very, very early. Just the people watching the lobby between like 4 and 6. So it's like stumbling girls on bachelorette parties. Like, they already have like a platform wedge that's broken and hot pants, like hiked up their ass. And then there was a guy there that was surrounded by security, and he was like, hey, man, we've already told you, you can't have the girls in your room. Oh, I didn't know that. And they're like, yeah, you know that you cannot have the girls up to your room. And we were crying, laughing, because it's like just a dude trying to get a bunch of hookers in the building.
Jimmy Failla
Yeah. What kind of country is this when the guy can't have a couple of hookers?
Kennedy
Yeah, Freedom Fest.
Jimmy Failla
Yeah, it doesn't sound like Freedom Fest to me. Holy hell. Sounds like fascism fest. Guy can't order a hooker in veg.
Kennedy
Don't go anywhere more. Kennedy saves the world right after this.
Jimmy Failla

And then we land yesterday and, you know, land at the. At the gate, everyone is standing up, ready to get off. And then the captain comes on and goes, we have a little bit of a technical issue. It's just gonna be a couple minutes, folks. Sorry about that. And so people start getting a little agitated, and then they. The flight attendant comes on, is like, I need everyone seated now. We need the aisle clear. And I'm like, either someone died or someone's getting arrested. There is a morbidly obese woman sitting across the aisle from me, by the way. A lot of circus fat people.
Jimmy Failla
I was gonna say circus fat.
Kennedy
Yeah, there were. There were two circus fat.
Jimmy Failla
I love a circus fat.
Kennedy
Sitting across the aisle from each other. They were both asleep and so corpulent. They had both poured into the aisle. And so getting between them to go to the bathroom took an act of Congress, but. So this woman's like, I need to know why we're stopped. I need to know why we're not getting off the plane. No one's telling us. And I'm like, ladies, because something's obviously going on here. They're not recatering it.
Jimmy Failla
Yeah.
Kennedy
And so two cops come on, they grab two women from the back of the plane and they take them off. And I'm like, this is amazing. And so, of course, we get off, and I stop to conveniently check my phone where the police officer is interviewing one of the women. And she was like, I just wanted to get up from my seat, and she wouldn't let me. And she was giving me attitude the whole flight, and I just had enough of it. I had enough of it. I wanted to get out. I wanted to use the bathroom, and she wouldn't let me. She wouldn't get out of her seat.
Jimmy Failla
So somebody got punched in the face on the plane.
Kennedy
Yeah. So there was obviously like a physical altercation, and I'm like, I never get to see the altercation, only the aftermath.
Jimmy Failla
Yes.
Kennedy
But it was really fun because I. I haven't really seen any Spirit Airlines passengers since they got her.
Jimmy Failla
They still got it. We were wondering, would they switch to bus? What would they do? Yeah, I love that they're.
Kennedy
They're on the planes and they're fighting like crazy.
Jimmy Failla
Oh, man.
Kennedy
Yeah, I bet there was some hair pulling and some slapping.
Jimmy Failla
Somebody lost a weave because that's like, listen, that's why I never got into ufc, because I was raised as a comic. I didn't have a lot of money. So, again, if I wanted to see women fight, you know, you had Spirit Airlines and what else do we have? Waffle House.
Kennedy
Yeah.
Jimmy Failla
You do a comedy show and then go to Waffle House at 2am you're going to see a fight. And it's always better than UFC because there is no tap out. There's no ring girl, there's no nothing. I mean, there's onion ring girl. She's throwing them and being like, y' all ain't. You know what I mean? She's there, the ring girl. I love that for you because when you go to Vegas and this is very important that you did this because you got the Freedom Fest element of it, but Vegas is legitimately. Not to make a pun about the spectrum again, but it is the full spectrum of the human experience.
Kennedy
Oh, yes.
Jimmy Failla
And I always say they should have two different radio stations for going and coming back, because the one going is like, ain't no stopping us now. And the way back is like the Crying Game. The way back is.
Kennedy
Yeah, the way back is just Adele.
Jimmy Failla
Yeah, yeah.
Kennedy
It's just sad. Everyone's crying. It's mascara stained face aces.
Jimmy Failla
Baby come back Baby come back Any
Kennedy
kind of food Just singing that to your wad hundreds. Baby come back.
Jimmy Failla
Oh, sad.
Kennedy
But we're. We're back. We're here, Jim. We're queer and we're not going anywhere.
Jimmy Failla
Damn right.

Host: Kennedy
Guest: Jimmy Failla
In this lively episode, Kennedy and comedian Jimmy Failla share hilarious and insightful stories from Kennedy’s recent trip to Freedom Fest in Las Vegas. They dive into everything from the uniqueness of Vegas people-watching at dawn, wild fan encounters, the absurdities of air travel, and a candid critique of health insurance and American “freedom.” The tone is irreverent, witty, and full of sharp banter, mixing personal anecdotes with cultural commentary.
Kennedy’s Recap of Freedom Fest: Kennedy opens with gratitude for surviving the eccentric Freedom Fest and jokes about the spectrum of her fans, noting their neurodiversity and intense enthusiasm.
Jimmy on Fan Specificity: Jimmy mentions attending meet-and-greets with Kennedy, amazed by fans’ encyclopedic memory of her MTV days.
“I’ve done meet and greets with you where someone walks up with the energy of what would probably be a school attacker in another. And, like, on September 9, 1994, you were introducing a Nirvana video, and you said... This is magic.” — Jimmy Failla [01:40]
A Fan with Kennedy Trading Cards: Kennedy describes a superfan who had 200 trading cards of her from the past 30 years, joking, “If only I could monetize that” [02:44].
Alternative Health Insurance Approaches: A quirky Vegas attendee proudly sports an "uninsured" T-shirt, explaining a crowdfunding scheme for medical bills that prompts skepticism from Kennedy and Jimmy:
“I made this point on stage at Freedom Fest. I don’t know anyone who’s walking around going, 'I love my insurance. It’s the best.' Insurance is amazing.”
— Kennedy [03:17]
Unique Vegas Experiences: Kennedy revels in Vegas hotel lobbies at dawn, describing unforgettable scenes: bachelorette parties falling apart, and a man persistently trying to sneak escorts into his room despite security warnings.
“Walking through the lobby at 4:55 in the morning was… such a gift… just the people watching… between like 4 and 6.”
— Kennedy [03:53]
“There was a guy there that was surrounded by security... just a dude trying to get a bunch of hookers in the building.”
— Kennedy [04:23]
Freedom, or Not?: Jimmy lampoons the contradiction of being denied this “freedom” at Freedom Fest.
“What kind of country is this when the guy can’t have a couple of hookers? …it doesn’t sound like Freedom Fest to me. Holy hell. Sounds like fascism fest.”
— Jimmy Failla [04:49]
Disastrous Return Flight: Kennedy recounts the early morning flight back to New York, filled with hungover or broke passengers.
“Half the people on that plane have either spent the last hour barfing or they're completely dejected and broke… Sometimes… it's a combination of both.”
— Kennedy [03:52]
In-flight Confrontation: The plane is delayed by a "technical issue," which turns out to be due to a physical altercation between two women. Kennedy notes, “I never get to see the altercation, only the aftermath.” [07:16]
Observations on Fellow Passengers: Kennedy and Jimmy jokingly describe two very obese ("circus fat") women blocking the aisle and the ordeal of navigating around them.
“There were two circus fat [people] sitting across the aisle from each other. They were both asleep and so corpulent. They had both poured into the aisle.”
— Kennedy [06:20]
Vegas as the Human Experience: Jimmy muses that Vegas, especially at dawn, encapsulates “the full spectrum of the human experience.”
“Vegas is legitimately… the full spectrum of the human experience.”
— Jimmy Failla [08:16]
Travel Vibes: Inbound vs. Outbound: They joke about needing different radio stations for flights to and from Vegas: the excitement and optimism going there, and despair/shame on the way home.
“Going is like, ‘Ain’t no stopping us now,’ and the way back is like 'The Crying Game.'”
— Jimmy Failla [08:23]
“Yeah, the way back is just Adele. It’s just sad. Everyone’s crying. It’s mascara-stained faces.”
— Kennedy [08:37]
Waffle House Fights & Raw Humanity: Jimmy likens plane fights to those at Waffle House post-comedy shows: “Always better than UFC because there is no tap out… just onion ring girl… she’s there, the ring girl.”
This episode is a whirlwind of acerbic humor and candid storytelling. Kennedy and Jimmy blend observational comedy with social critique, painting an unforgettable (and unapologetically honest) portrait of Vegas at its weirdest, the quirks of fandom, and the reality of modern travel.
Best suited for listeners who enjoy sharp banter, cultural commentary, and a peek into the absurdities of American life.
