A
Foreign. Hello and welcome to this episode of Kennedy Saves the World. It's happy hour and I've never been more happy to have Guy Benson by my side. Cheers to you, Guy Benson.
B
Hello.
A
The host of the Guy Benson radio show on Fox News radio, weekdays from 3 to 6 Eastern. You're also a celebrated author. You host Bonus Benson the podcast. You're regularly on many Fox News shows. We were just on Gutfeld together.
B
That's correct.
A
It's exciting to be near you.
B
I would say that when you said just a moment ago that you've never been more excited to be with me. I don't think that's true.
A
It's not. But I was really trying to be efficient.
B
A week ago. You were probably slightly.
A
I was even more excited.
B
More excited to be with me because we were on vacation. 2.
A
We arrived in St. Martin about a half hour apart. Our flights landed and to watch you walk through the receiving area, that's right where we were waiting for you. And it was like cheers. And a tearful reunion. You were like one of those Marine dads who returned from combat.
B
That's a lot.
A
And well, again, like, it was a big moment.
B
You guys had started drinking clearly in that half hour.
A
We did.
B
Yeah, you absolutely did. And it was off to the races. But it was really fun. Cause we have traveled together multiple times. Yes, but I don't think we've ever done a full blown vacation together like this.
A
Well, I would say Greece was a full blown vacation together.
B
Yes, but it was a much bigger group.
A
Hawaii.
B
And it was. Yes, but that. I think those were much bigger groups. Poland, not a vacation.
A
It really wasn't.
B
The Auschwitz trip was not a vacation.
A
Yeah, that was the Holocaust memorial site. So it was very somber.
B
It was a very powerful trip. So. So as I said, we've traveled a lot together, but not. This felt a little bit more like a long period of time altogether in this house. And it was you guys, it was kat and Cam, Dr. Drew and Susan, and then us. And I was like, well, we've never had this exact combination of people together for this amount of time. Let's just see how it goes. And it was great.
A
It was amazing.
B
It was such a fun.
A
I mean, it's really hard to get that many adults together and have there be like no drama. Like everyone was easygoing, chill.
B
And then also you had the babies. So at one point I realized we had five generations of people in that house, which was pretty cool. And we all just got along and helped each other. And you were great with the kids. And it was such a fun vacation. And I was like, you know what's awesome about this trip is I don't have to do one bit of work. I've filed my column for the Washington Examiner. I'm off the radio show. I'm off tv. I've got no work at all.
A
And.
B
And, like, day one, you're like, can you do my podcast?
A
That's true.
B
And I was like, you're doing work here. And then you took me up to the very special room. Yes. And we had actually a very fun conversation with Jimmy Fox. We did. Yeah.
A
Jimmy was in studio, so he anchored the whole thing. And then you and I have this incredible backdrop.
B
The house, the green screen looking.
A
It really did look backdrop.
B
It is real. Yes, yes.
A
But. And it's so sweet because it reminds me of traveling when my girls were really little, when I think as a parent. And I'm glad you feel the same way. I think it's really important to travel with your kids from the earliest possible time. So they get used to it, because the more you travel, as they get older, they just become professional at it, and it becomes a part of them. And they have this natural sense of adventure. Yes. Truly.
B
It's just like, this is what we do as a family. I believe this was our sons. He just turned 2 a few months ago. I think this was his 18th flight.
A
Whoa.
B
Of his life. He has flown a lot.
A
That's amazing.
B
Yeah. And so he's in a tough age spot, though, for the airplane, because when they're little, really little, they're easy.
A
You don't realize that when you have a baby, but babies are actually great on planes. So easy because they sleep. They're lulled to sleep by the natural.
B
Sound of teeny tiny. And then at a certain age, you can put Moana on and they will focus on it for two hours. And he is in between these things, and he's a boy, and he's a squirmy worm, and he was squirming on the flight home.
A
That poor thing.
B
I was just thanking God that we were getting out in time to beat the snowstorm. Right. So I was happy. But we.
A
Cause we were all looking at the weather apps on our phones, trying to figure out, like, were we going to intersect.
B
But we were good. We got home about two and a half hours before the snow started. It was that close. But we did it. But we paid for it on that flight home because he did not sit still for more than three minutes for four consecutive hours. And it Was actually really funny. We just. We tried everything to preoccupy his time. And today I was on the train coming up. Was that today or yesterday? It's a blur. I was on the train coming to New York this week, and I looked down at my sneaker and I saw that there was just a stray sticker from our sticker hour where we were just putting stickers on everything. And one of them was on my shoe that I had not taken off. It was just a shark. I had a shark on my shoe. And I'm sure other adults saw this and were like, what's up with that? It was my kid on an airplane. It's forgivable.
A
Another thing. That's great. And I've told a lot of parents this. Another parent told me when my oldest was about your son's age, a roll of scotch tape. It was actually her pediatrician, I now remember. A roll of scotch tape will eat up 45 minutes on a plane.
B
What a good idea.
A
And then the other thing that I used to do is wrap small presents. And if you're good for an hour, you get a present. So for every hour of the flight, you get. And it was.
B
It's a bribe.
A
It could be. Absolutely.
B
It's a bribe. But it's a good bribe.
A
But also, like, oh, you're winning a big believer in, like, lollipops, like dum dums. And, you know, because it's actually good for their ears because they have something to suck on. But, you know, it's like if you're one of those families where you don't have a lot of sugar, then that's like a. The airplane becomes like, treat haven. And it becomes like a flying bribe.
B
Yes. No, that's great. And I've also heard from a lot of parents, you just have to throw your normal rules out on an airplane.
A
Yes, absolutely right.
B
Like sleep, food, discipline.
A
Yes.
B
Whatever it takes. And so I think that's such a good idea, the scotch tape. Cause he is fascinated by it. And if you're just willing to sacrifice a scotch tape roll and just like, go, Go at it. Go for it, bud. That's really good. We should definitely use that, by the way. Gotta give a shout out. On the flight home before we. We had just boarded and one of the United Airlines flight attendants. The friendly skies, the best in the business. She came over to our row. We were right near an exit row, but not in it. And she came right into the empty row because no one had gotten on the plane yet in front of us. And I thought she was gonna tell us something about how we couldn't sit wherever we were. And she said, I just wanna say that your son is amazing, but you are more amazing.
A
She was a Fox News fan, a.
B
Guy Benson show listener. Amazing on the daily. And then I blew her mind by saying that the trip included you and Katie. She was like, I have to text my husband right now. And she was absolutely amazing. Her name was Heather and she's a credit to the airline. And the fact that she's a fan does bias me a little bit. But she was so delightful. She also may or may not. I don't want to get anyone in trouble, but may or may not have helped my husband self medicate a bit on the flight to the point that I was wondering which one of us was going to drive home in the snow and it might have to be me.
A
Yeah.
B
Which is fine. Safety first. Safety first.
A

A
Who's the better driver between the two of you?
B
He would say him.
A
Yeah, I would say me.
B
I'm not sure.
A
I would be overruled by literally everyone else in my family.
B
I'm not sure. But he, and I say this with, if he's not driving. He is a big, judgmental backseat driver.
A
Really?
B
And so I believe there was one time where I was like, I'll pull over and you can just take the wheel rather than having the peanut gallery. Like, if you're the driver. Great. And that's how we've solved it. He generally drives because I just don't want to deal with it as the better driver.
A
Yes. I'm very, very confident I'm the better driver. But my sexy teenage fiance actually won a race at a racetrack against other very qualified drivers. So now he's like, well, you know, I've empirically, I've got hardware to prove.
B
Right.
A
He. He won a gold medal and he was, he was racing against people in like driving gloves. Like, they showed up like, ready to.
B
Go and he were these go karts.
A
No.
B
Sexy teenage fiance.
A
No. It was a BMW track. Yeah.
B
Wow. Wow.
A
And I would be too scared to do that sponsored event where you had to sign up in advance. And it was part of Freedom Fest last year.
B
That Sounds very fun in theory. I would never do that. I'd be too scared. See, I was just like, yeah, it's not your car. You have to sign every waiver in the world.
A
And he was doing donuts when he won. And they're like, please don't do that.
B
And he's like, oh, yeah, that actually checks out.
A
I remember traveling with my girls when they were small when worried that they were in imposition. But the funny thing, when you and Kat and your spouses and your families got there, Susan Pinsky and I were both delighted.
B
Oh yeah. So we had.
A
Give us the children.
B
We had four parents, a nanny, and then two bonus parents.
A
Yes.
B
You and Susan. Who were just all over these kids. And my biggest fear about this trip. So we all rented this house together.
A
Yes.
B
And there was a beautiful pool. Like a stunning pool. If people want to check out the photos. Guy P. Benson on Instagram. I put lots of full pool photos up there because it was just like.
A
Pee is for perfection.
B
It is an amazing vista. Right. But with two little guys on this journey, I was worried about the.
A
Yeah, that's something that like keeps you awake at night.
B
As a parent before the terror annoyed the entire trip. But it had that slow slope. So it wasn't really a deep end to fall into. That was helpful. And then just there were so many adults eyes on these kids at all times. That took some of the burden off.
A
Yes.
B
And I was less nervous.
A
Yeah. And it was really so much fun to watch them in the pool. But they didn't want, you know, they weren't trying to jump in and be irrational revolutionaries.
B
No. My kid gets very cautious. Like he'll learn that, oh, that was not a good feeling in the. I don't want that again. And then he'll be very sort of tepid. Although then he got into this thing where he would dip his. From the side. He would lean over and dip his hair into the pool to get it wet. Cause he knew we didn't want him to do that. I'm like, that's where you fall in and you've got a problem.
A
That's why I have a two year old.
B
He would, he would. When he's going to misbehave, he announces it.
A
Oh yeah. So he says to me, that also is the kind of confidence that I have about my driving.
B
He says, do not hit the window. And then he hits it immediately. And he looks at me, he's like, we hit da da guy. And then he hits me. I'm like, I can't even be that mad. No way. He's very cute and funny.
A
He's so smart and he's so verbal and he's so funny. And I miss him every day.
B
Yeah. You're like, can we FaceTime, please? Not you, him.
A
Yeah. And he's like, no, we're good, thanks.
B
He's like, who's that? Although he loves your sexy teenage fiance's name. He would say that a lot.
A
Yes.
B
And then also we were talking about the trip, and all of a sudden he just piped up from the other room. He goes, Dr. Drew.
A
Oh, yeah. And Dr. Drew would make those kids smile and laugh every day. It was really fun. So the only thing left to do is pick out our next country. Where are we going next?
B
That's right. And I know that you have on your bucket list a very far trip.
A
Yes.
B
And I just want to say, without.
A
Being like, I think the farthest, about.
B
As far as you can get. And I've been there. I was there in 2017, so it's been almost a decade. I cannot commit to the when, but I'm going to commit on this show at some point, God willing, in our lives. We shall go there.
A
We shall go there.
B
We shall go there.
A
To going there. We shall go there. Cheers to you and your adventurousness, Guy Benson.
B
And drink some cocktails and your beautiful family.
A
That's right.
B
On the beach, probably. It'll. It might be a few years, but it'll happen.
A
This is vitamin water. Don't judge. All right. It's still January and some of us are recovering from last week. Not Guy, though, because he is perfection. Cheers to you always, Guy Benson.
