Hello and welcome to this episode of Kennedy Saves the World. It's happy hour. Zhao Ying Summers is here. Zhao Ying, welcome back to Kennedy Saves the World.
C
Thank you.
B
Cheers to you with this mocktail.
C
This is a beautiful drink.
B
Yes. It's cranberry pomegranate juice with watermelon flavored seltzer and frozen strawberries from my pregnant friend, Zhao Ying.
C
That's very good.
B
You can't even taste the vodka.
C
No. Yummy hydrating.
B
You're pregnant with your third baby.
C
Third baby?
B
Yeah.
C
I'm keeping it as a boy. Oh, my God.
B
Is it your first boy?
C
It's my second boy.
B
Oh, okay.
C
The first one I had was a boy. My daughter is the middle girl now. Yeah.
B
So she'll be the queen be.
C
She'll be the queen bee. But this is a different baby. This is a half white baby. It's different from Chinese.
B
Are you having a vision?
C
I'm having a vision and this baby is going to be different because I can't really hit him. You can't hit white kids because you leave your hand mark there. I didn't know.
B
I didn't know that that was the reason you couldn't hit white children.
C
Yeah. People see the evidence because their skin's pink.
B
A little, tiny pink baby.
C
Yeah.
B
That's exciting. So you're. You're on tour right now. So you are the host of the Tiger mom podcast. Tiger Mom MILF podcast.
C
It was milf, but the YouTube was messing with my money, so I just changed to Mommy. Tiger Mom.
B
Tiger Mommy. Are you a tiger mom?
C
I am, but there's limitations. Now I have a white husband that he's not happy about. My. My. My son was at school and got called a little. I just. I laughed and he said, you can't do this. This is a verbal abuse. I said. I didn't say anything. He's not happy about my parenting.
B
Yeah.
C
He want me to be more gentle and loving.
B
Okay.
C
And the peace and love and no violence. I'm like, but, honey, you are German. Don't tell me about peace.
B
Yeah. And Germans, by the way, very cold parents. Yeah. Known For. For not being, like, warm and loving at all.
C
Yeah.
B
And they're proud of it. Like, I'm not. I'm not throwing around insults here.
C
Yeah.
B
You don't get to be a global superpower by being a pansy. I guess. Yes.
C
You gotta be. Gotta be tough.
B
Yeah. And is your German husband sensitive to you calling him a Nazi, or does he like it?
C
He didn't like it when I call it in front of the kids.
B
Yeah.
C
He's also Slavic. German. Slavic.
B
Okay.
C
Slavic is interesting. They were occupied by Germany, I think.
B
Oh, wow. He's always fighting with himself.
C
I know. He just. Yeah. He's his own war. Yeah. He's confused.
B
Yes.
C
Confused. I'm Confucius, so it's interesting. I'm so silly. That's not funny.
B
Go together perfectly. I love it. But you are in Albany tonight and tomorrow.
C
Yes.
B
And tell me about your show. I've seen. It's amazing.
C
Oh, thank you. Where is running my new hour? So it's all brand new, about a new life, the new husband and having this baby. Touring on the road with the baby being pregnant, I was giving up. I don't think I want to have marriage anymore. I wasn't expecting it. So sometimes you meet the right person when you are not looking for it.
B
Yes, absolutely.
C
That was interesting.
B
And you didn't meet on an app. How did you meet?
C
We met in person. And my camera guy brought extra help to help with the camera. So that was the camera guy. And he's very cute. I'm like, he's cute, but I'm not gonna mess with him. I want him to have a good life with a girl who is stable, you know, who's in the region. Like, I'm gonna. I just never thought. Then he asked me out and we went out and.
B
Did you have second thoughts about saying yes?
C
Yes. I was like, yeah. I'm like, you're poor. I don't know. Like, I don't. You know, I'm like, come on, honey. I don't know. But apparently he. He was working at Tesla. Yeah. So he had. He got good income. He's. He had real jobs before. He just wanted to get into filming and the storytelling. Very responsible man. And I went out with him and I just thought. I was like, you know what? I will take you on the tour with me for a week in Canada. If you can put up with this mess, we can continue. I just.
B
But you weren't pregnant yet at that point.
C
I wasn't. I. I just wanted him to know I'm Crazy so I don't have to waste my time pretending to be someone else. And then he's like, oh, my God, you're crazy. Know. I want him to know. Oh, no, this is a disaster. So he knows about the bipolar and he knows we are going to be on the road one city a day. And after a week, he. He can handle it.
B
I'm like, so was it romantic that first week?
C
He won't have sex with me. I was furious. I'm like, we already had sex. Like, why are you holding your penis? Like, why are you doing this? But he's like, well, he's a professional. I'm like, no, I was furious at him, but he just wanted to show me that he can. He can film the show, take care of everything. He wanted to be professional about it.
B
Yeah, well, if he really wants to take care of everything, he should be taking care of everything.
C
Exactly. I was very disappointed and I felt like that was not what I expected. You know, I didn't fly you in.
B
I flew you in to be a sex slave.
C
Yeah, exactly. You're not serving me. I was furious. I was really upset.
B
Did it make. Did it make your bipolar worse?
C
Yeah, I was very angry. And also I found out I have a major problem is that I was taking lithium for bipolar for the first time. I was three months in. It keep me stable, but it really. Some side effects happen to some people. It happened to me. It make your vagina smell like hell.
B
Oh, no.
C
It's so stinky. It's so bad. I feel like I think God is fair. If he make you crazy, he make you good in bed. But if he make you sweet, give you a stinky, I mean, you can't have everything.
B
So how soon did you get off the lithium and what did your doctor say?
C
And she's like, well, it's. It happened to some people and I'm sorry. Happening to you. I'm like, I maybe crazy. Yeah, guys like, you're gonna be the crazy lady who manage your crazy with your comedy. And you just abuse your husband. You know, his wife, he's German. He can take all the abuse for the world.
B
He's asking for it. Yeah, like you told him up front.
C
Yeah, I'm crazy. I have this really unfortunate bipolar disorder and I'm very insecure and I'm controlling. Very controlling.
B
What a wonderful combo.
C
Yes. It turns out he's so sweet and he loves the kids. We started dating, so he ended up being a good guy.
B
Oh, good. Okay.
C
He's a nice guy because he don't have sex with me. I was furious. I'm used to love bombers.
B
Yes.
C
Of course in la, like, have a
B
bunch of sex with you, tell you amazing things, and then ghost you completely with no explanation.
C
Yeah. They literally. It's like, oh, it wasn't like we were not dating. Like, what they're talking about. Like, they make you.
B
Yeah.
C
Crazy. I'm already crazy. And I. I just can't.
B
You don't need to be gaslit and ghosted at the same time.
C
Yes.
B
Which I don't think you can move into LA county as a guy unless you've got both of those qualifications on your resume.
C
For sure. For sure. You have to be like that. Yeah, It's. It's insane. So why import him from Austin? But he's actually from Cleveland, Ohio.
B
Oh, wow.
C
Yeah, he's an Ohio boy. Okay. They are sweet.
B
They are sweet. My daughter is going to college in Ohio.
C
Nice.
B
Yes. And I've met a lot of her Ohio friends and they're pretty great.
C
Yes.
B
Yeah. I was excited for her to go to the Midwest, particularly Ohio, and she's. She's having a great time. I think that's very smart. So you're living in Los Angeles now?
C
Los Angeles and Austin, Texas, you're going back and forth? Yes, we moved to Austin, Texas. It's just easier to fly all over the country from Austin.
B
Yes.
C
Also the tax breaks. Pretty nice.
B
Oh, yeah. There's no state income tax.
C
Yes. So I.
B
Your kids are there.
C
We move them to school. They're a very good school in the suburb. Very nice. My mom loved the house. We have deers coming visit. I said, don't kill them, Mom. Don't kill them. I think they give deers. Probably the deers are on birth control. If you kill them, I can't have kids anymore. I just. I said, you can't kill the deers. She's like, okay. Deer means many. I keep them around. Apparently deer coming to a house means money.
B
Oh, really?
C
Deer means money. Means lu. Lu means prosperity.
B
Oh, that's amazing.
C
I won't kill them. I was like, thank God they made money.
B
Yeah. Don't go anywhere more. Kennedy Saves the World right after this.

C
So he is basically, he's my partner. He's my tour manager, my videographer. So we are like a mom and pop shop. He is on the road with me 247 and then he, that's, that's what he do. He, I'm his full time job.
B
Nice. Has he had children?
C
No, he never had a kid.
B
So he's, he's not had a newborn baby yet?
C
No.
B
This is going to adjust.
C
I, he's gonna know life is not perfect and the happiness is over and no more sleep, diapers and crying.
B
And I just, I can't wait to drop the lithium.
C
I cannot wait. Yeah. I can't wait for him to, to, to be miserable because he loves the kids. I'm like, they are already cute. Yeah. They are 7 5.
B
You've beaten the insolence out of them. So now they have to be cute. Yeah.
C
And now. Yeah. He's going to see it's going to be bad for him. I can't wait for him to not sleep.
B
Are you going to tell him that in your culture men are the ones who take care of babies in the middle of the night?
C
Yes. I'll tell him. In Chinese culture, if you don't take care of the baby, we're going to become poor.
B
The deer will disappear.
C
Yes, the deer will disappear. Will become poorer. Yeah.
B
And will you continue touring when you have your third baby?
C
I will keep. I'll be in home for three months, which I'll be mainly writing my book and writing my TV show and writing my new hour. I'll be doing a little writing, creating.
B
Tell me about your TV show. This is so exciting.
C
We are writing. We were working on a TV show and it's about my life. If I never made it in stand up, I ended up just running my comedy club.
B
Yeah.
C
Like a workplace comedy like the Office and me being a Chinese immigrant, I have to face all the very, very woke, woke culture in comedy. And how I navigate being a single mother with my kids trying to make Money and also deal with my Chinese mom because she's very disappointed.
B
I love that she lives with you and she's such a part of your life.
C
Yeah. She doesn't sing any. Does not say anything nice, but she does everything for me. That's just beyond generous. So very grateful for her.
B
Yeah. So you have to just wear headphones.
C
Yes.
B
And not listen to the insults.
C
Yes. Just the. I torn out. I just. Now I. Whatever she say, I just like, yes, Ma, you're right. She gave me chicken gins and soup.
B
How does she get along with your husband?
C
They can't talk. So that's perfect. They get along. They can't communicate, they don't speak.
B
How does she feel about your white husband?
C
She likes that he's good to the kids. And she's not happy that he pretend to be liking her food a lot. Now he's like. So she's like, oh, he lied about liking my food because he can't eat a lot of Chinese food that she makes. And she wasn't happy about that.
B
Oh, no.
C
Yeah. She's very upset.
B
Yes. That's so. You know, I have a Romanian mother and that's how they show their love.
C
Yeah. They make you things. Yeah. You don't eat it. They just.
B
Yeah. My grandmother, if you didn't eat the 17 main dishes that she made, she would take it so personally and hold it against you for all of eternity. Like, I'm convinced she's in heaven with a scorecard. Like, didn't eat the pot roast. Didn't eat the stuffed cabbage. Didn't eat the polenta.
C
Yeah. She's heartbroken.
B
Yeah. Yeah. Even. Even in perfection, in heaven, like, she's. She's still holding the grudge.
C
I know it means so much to them. The food, their food.
B
So where will we see your show? Your TV show?
C
We are talking to a few on network. We just finished the pitch and I am very excited that we're gonna go to. I mean, it's gonna be amazing.
B
You are so phenomenally talented.
C
Thank you so much.
B
I love your story. I love your honesty. Your standup is absolutely brilliant. So where can people see you between now and the baby's emergence from your now pristine anti lithium vagina?
C
Yeah, very pristine. No Lithium Europe tour is coming up. Coming next week to Europe.
B
Amazing.
C
April 4th. I mean, Dublin, Ireland. April 7th, I'm in Belfast and I go to London, Copenhagen, Oslo, Norway. I mean, all over Europe. And then I end up my trip. May. April 26th in Paris.
B
Okay. And how do people. Cities in different cities. How do they respond to your comedy?
C
I have never toured Europe and we sold out so many shows ahead of time and I was overwhelmed by how much they love me. Very excited about Europe. I think they will have a great time. They've never seen me live yet. So very happy to be there.
B
Beautiful. And will you have more children?
C
If I have a lot of money, I will. But if I am poor, I think I'm just going to keep my leg crossed. I'm like, I can't afford them. If I can afford it, I'll have more then dogs. If you already have three dogs, you can get the first one. You just more food and water is just what's the point?
B
I hope that you're phenomenally wealthy. I hope that all of your projects completely take off and you go Richter in this coming year.
C
Thank you.
B
Yeah.
C
I love that it's the fire horse year.
B
Yeah. Fire horse.
C
You are manifesting all the good things.
B
I'm manifesting it.
C
Yeah. You got red. I am so. You got red Gucci. It's perfect. Welcome. Prosperity, happiness.
B
Bring it. Bring it for Zhao Ying.
C
Yes. We love this.
B
Cheers to you. Your prosperity. The red. Prosperous drink red.
C
Yes. And it is.
B
It is a mocktail. Damn, we're smooth.
C
Ooh, that's yummy.
