Hello and welcome to this episode of Kennedy Saves the World. I cannot stop thinking about Katie Porter. That woman is such a friggin gift. She sat down with a CBS News California reporter who, who had been apparently talking to the other gubernatorial candidates and the California race and asked Porter, you know, pretty straightforward question. You are going to need some of the 40% of California voters who voted for Donald Trump. How are you going to appeal to them? And Porter, who was so full of herself and there is a lot to be full of, she is a very sturdy woman, very, very stout and sturdy woman, not mentally, apparently. And Katie Poore's like, well, why do you say I will need the ma'? Am? And it's like, okay. Donald Trump won 40% of California voters in a very Democrat state. That is not a small number. California has a jungle primary. So that means that Katie Porter, Katie Porter most likely will go up against another Democrat. And that's not because I don't want Steve Hilton to win. I absolutely do. I think this entire Katie Porter saga has been a gift to Steve Hilton and every other person that's already declared themselves to be in the race. And the field is going to get much more crowded after her shenanigans. So she gets all pissy because the reporter is not letting it go. She, she wants an answer to that. That's a very straightforward question and anyone who is running for governor of California should have answers to that and a lot more difficult questions. And she got so mad at that and there was such a protracted back and forth, she tried to rip off her microphone and end the interview. And I think she realized as she was getting huffy and defensive just how bad that looked. But she's also one of those politicians who is so incompetent she thinks these things go away, that you know, they don't exist somewhere. And she has a very high staff turnover rate. And that is because she is clearly not a nice person. Like Katie Porter is an angry and abusive person. She's also unstable. And you can see that from the exchange she has with Julie Watts. It's very obvious the interview was not going her way. So, so she gaslights and accuses Julie Watts of asking seven follow up questions when Katie Porter, the former representative from Orange county, won't answer a basic question. So to her credit, this poor reporter keeps asking her in different ways and finessing it so she can get some sort of an answer. Because that is a very important thing with Donald Trump as president. You can't just run against Donald Trump, especially when you have 40% of your state who voted for him, and you've also got an even larger percentage of people who are really upset with the state of their state, and you've got 40% of the state that voted for Donald Trump before the wildfires. Now you have tens of thousands of people and reliable, reliably liberal parts of Los Angeles who've lost their homes and lost their communities. And, you know, these were people who probably voted Democrat, donated to Gavin Newsom's campaigns. And, you know, we're planning on doing it again before they lost everything. And then the leadership in Los Angeles and in the state have done nothing for them. They don't have their backs. So they're looking to someone like Katie Porter to answer some of the difficult questions. You know, what culpability does leadership have in Los Angeles to extinguish raging fires? If you have no water coming out of the fire hydrants, why did that happen? How can we prevent that from happening again? I don't think Katie Porter could answer a question like that. I mean, if she can't answer, you know, how are you going to win over the 40% of Trump voters? That number is higher now. If the election had happened after the wildfires, Donald Trump probably would have won California. I don't know that there are a lot of Katie Porter Democrats in California. I don't know that there are a lot left because this has been an absolute pig pile since that interview. And all it did was bring more videos to light of Katie Porter being an awful person to her staff, to the people closest to her, people that she relies upon, people that she needs. In 2021, she was doing a video call with Jennifer Granholm, who at the time was the Energy secretary, talking about electric vehicles, trying to ram propaganda down everyone's throats. And she was getting her statistics wrong. So she had a staffer who knows if this is a researcher or a senior level member of her staff in a face mask because it was 2021 and it's California. So everyone's hysterical and ridiculous, kind of going in and out of the shot, trying to warn then Representative Porter, hey, you've got this wrong. And then you can see Katie realize that the person with the mask is in her shot. She's like, get out of my shot. And it's like, katie, get a hold of yourself. You know, I would say get a sandwich, but I don't think she's missed strapping on the feedback anytime soon. But she is clearly just abusive and unhinged. And the staffer who obviously hates her is, you know, going through the mask. Well, you're actually making statistic wrong and you're saying it wrong. And she's like, oh my God, don't go anywhere. More Kennedy saves the world right after this.

There are different types of chubby people. There are lovable chubby people. There are sexy chubby people. There are chubby people who are so comfortable in their own skin, those of moderate proportions aspire to be them. Katie Porter is not one of those people. She is an angry chubby person. You know, the type of, I don't have to go on and on. We all know the type. Some of us have been the type. But then, you know, you make modifications in your life. You, you take a deep look inside and you realize that that hole in that sadness is never going to be filled with ding dongs and mashed potatoes. Speaking of mashed potatoes, Katie Porter is also famous for apparently throwing scalding hot a bowl of scalding hot mashed potatoes on her ex husband's head. Matthew Hoffman. Matthew Hoffman. During their divorce proceedings, he testified that she was verbally and physically abusive, got a restraining order against her, and you know, the most famous story was that she emptied scalding mashed potatoes on his head and burned his scalp. It's like, so she's a domestic abuser as well as a professional hothead. And we know a people who ascend to political and professional heights, sometimes they have tunnel vision, sometimes they get emotional and cranky and it's part of their process. But you have to respect the artistry. Not here. You know, this is someone. Californians are in such dire straits, economically, educationally, with their health care and everything else, homelessness, crime, you name it, that they are not looking to someone who is narcissistic and delusional like Gavin Newsom. But add on top of that, miserable and unhinged. And they look at these Katie Porter videos and they're like, thank you gods of political gifts for showing us who this person really is. So of course, I'm thinking in my obsession with her, what does Katie Porter do now? The dumbest thing she can do is what she tried to do in that interview with Julie Watts where she puts that she plasters this Miserable, pained, fake smile on her face. Like, I don't want this to get negative. I just. I just want this to be positive because this, I'm such a good person, you know, I'm a leader. I'm a strong leader. I'm gonna kill you, I swear to God, as soon as this camera's off. Julie Watts, she didn't really say that. The thought bubble did. She didn't say that. But that's what she's gonna try and do. She's going to try and pass herself off. Is this nice, cool, fun, kind of tough, but really amazing person. It's like, I'm Katie Porter and I'm just amazing. So, like, that's not going to work. Don't try to gloss over this. The only thing she can do now is lean into it, you know, lean into the fact like, yeah, I'm an angry, chubby person. I'm unhinged and I'm coming for you. It's like what JD Pritzker, JB Pritzker is doing. JB Pritzker is another person who is also corpulent and undisciplined and angry and thinks that he's going to do an impression of Donald Trump and be a big tough guy and that's going to win him votes. It's not going to work for JB Pritzker. It's really not going to work for Katie Porter because I hate to say it, but there is a difference in the way men and women are perceived. Is it fair? Not necessarily, but unfortunately that's how it is. And there is a different perception of an angry woman in politics versus a guy who comes off is tough. JB Pritzker doesn't come off as tough. He comes off as a deeply insecure person who's mad at the world who will use his billions to exact his revenge. Katie Porter is the kind of angry that she probably has such a high staff turnover rate because people are terrified of her. They're terrified when what she will do in the moment that she will snap. I wouldn't be surprised if, you know, there had been complaints of physical abuse from her staffers in the past. I'm not saying I've read about them. I'm not saying I've heard that. I am not alleging that has happened. I'm just saying I would not be surprised if that happened. And that's what you get in California when you have a one party state of people, politicians who are never really challenged. You get the Katie Porters of the world. You get the Kamala Harris's of the world. You get the Nancy Pelosi's and the Adam Schiffs and the Gavin Newsoms, people who are completely full of themselves. And the only benefit to this campaign for governor is people like Katie Porter and dumb tums like Antonio Villaragosa and Javier Becerra, who's going to look so much more rational by comparison. They don't do a lot of polling in California, which is shocking, but I guarantee you she will drop like a potato in hot water in the polls. It's great news for Javier Becerra. It's great news for Steve Hilton, who right now is in third place in the race. So I think this bumps Steve Hilton up to second. And if he can capitalize on this and you know, he said he wants to run against her because she is so beatable. Unfortunately, you know, unlike her ex husband, Katie Porter has beaten herself here. She, she cannot pretend to be Mrs. Nice Guy. She's not a nice person. She's not a happy person. She's an unwell person. And the only way to win is to absolutely lean into the crazy and see if, you know, she's not going to do a 180. But if she can make a 90 degree turn into absolute bat nutty crazy Personville, she may have a chance of scoring a book deal. She will never be governor of California, God help us all and all of our Thanksgiving side dishes because Katie's gonna find out the news the hard way, she's gonna be really mad, and we're all gonna be wearing the mashed potatoes. Overall, Kennedy uses the controversy surrounding Katie Porter's interview and personal reputation to critique California's political culture and candidate quality, arguing that Porter's demeanor and history make her unelectable in the statewide race. The episode is a mix of caustic humor, political gossip, and pointed observations about media, gender, and leadership.
