And now, here we go. A little bit of my conversation with Kat Timf. One of the positives, what you have been through, being diagnosed with cancer, literally the, the day you had a baby, going public about it, talking about and the incoming, the, the criticism that you received. And it's like I'm used to people who work at Fox News being a target.
Kat Timf
Yeah.
Kennedy
But the, the personal, vindictive, vitriolic, angry criticism that you received when you disclosed your treatment was unlike anything I had ever seen.
Kat Timf
I know. And everyone had opinions about it and I get it. But it's like people like why double mastectomy?
Kennedy
And I, I, I had the same thing.
Kat Timf
No, you didn't.
Kennedy
I just had a shot of adrenaline and I'm fine.
Kat Timf
But it didn't. If you're 85, you did not have the same thing as a 36 year old pregnant woman being diagnosed with breast cancer. It's not the same. There's a lot of different reasons why it's different. And I tried to put myself in the place of these people just care about me. I did lose it on one lady, like the 30th comment that I was like, why double mastectomy? I replied and I was like, just for fun. Just for fun. I thought like I'd never have going on with a newborn like a literal fresh baby that I just decided why don't I cut my off. You don't also, you don't need those for a newborn. There'd be nothing that I wanted to do with a newborn with those. So it's like obviously I consider this, Obviously I took this very seriously.
Kennedy
I mean you're in New York City.
Kat Timf
Yeah.
Kennedy
You went to a number of doctors, a number of hospitals.
Kat Timf
Go to three.
Kennedy
Yes. And you got advice from world class surgeons and oncologists and came to a very well informed decision. Yeah.
Kat Timf
And I would have had the choice. I could have done a lumpectomy. But then my nip, it was in my nipple anyway, so, and I don't really, I didn't have big boobs. So, like, my Was like, all nipple. Anyway, so I'm basically removing one, and then I would need radiation and hormone blockers, and then I would need to continually be doing these scans over and over again to see if it came back. And those six weeks, which you obviously knew about, I was talking to you throughout this. I wasn't really talking to a lot of people about this, about how I didn't really know if it had spread or not until a couple weeks after I mastectomy and I got the pathology back. That was a really hard time. Obviously, for me. Very stressful for me, for anybody, it would be. I didn't want to put myself through that every couple months. So it was.
Kennedy
Yeah. Like, every time you have a lump.
Kat Timf
Yeah.
Kennedy
Every time there is, you know, a microscopic development in a scan, you have to live in that limbo.
Kat Timf
Absolutely. And I couldn't live like that. So it was. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. But it was. It was an easy choice. I, I, it was definitely an easy choice, so.
Kennedy
And walk me through, because, you know, there may be people watching who know that you had a mastectomy and reconstruction, but they're like, what's the thing with the nipples? Yeah. Like, you know, I don't want to be rude and ask.
Kat Timf
It's okay. Yeah. So the thing with the nipples.
Kennedy
And I think this is very good for women who are going through the same thing.
Kat Timf
Yeah.
Kennedy
Because they're terrified.
Kat Timf
Yeah.
Kennedy
They feel like they have to hide it and that they should be ashamed. And, you know, as I was saying, one of the positives to come out of this, you being so open about everything you've gone through. And I know other women have reached out to you and said. They have. Thank you. Because I haven't been able to talk about this with anyone.
Kat Timf
And that has made it all worth it to hear from those women. Hear from women who I've helped them or people who have went and gotten checked out when they wouldn't have before, but. So the nipple reconstruction is. They make a nipple out of your skin. They actually make a nipple, an actual protrusion out of your skin.
Kennedy
And that's the surgery.
Kat Timf
And that's. Yes. And it's easy. I only need to take a day off work, so it's. Yeah, it's easy. And then I have to wait six more months, and then I get them tattooed. Some women just get the 3D tattoos, and the 3D tattoos look really, really good. They actually. I mean, I've seen so many of these at this point, they actually do look like there's a protrusion there. The problem is, in nipple season, you can't participate because. Which some people is a positive. Like, you don't have to wear a.
Kennedy
Unless you're wearing, like, a sheer tank top.
Kat Timf
Yeah, exactly. So you can't. You can't. You don't. I want to have that little protrusion there. So I'm gonna. I'm going for it all. I'm going for everything that's available to me. But it is so nuts because I'm obviously somebody who just. I just, like, put it all out there. That's who I am. I had a tough time for a little bit deciding, like, do I tell people I don't have nipples? Because a lot of people I know have gone public with their own mastectomies, have said, oh, I have a nipple sparing mastectomy. I had a nipple sparing mastectomy. And that's great for them. It was not an option for me. So I was like, is everybody gonna think I'm a gross, disgusting freak if I don't have nipples? And then I was like, man, if I'm feeling this way, there's a lot of other women out there who probably feel this way. So I really want to show. Put my. Put this all out there. Put it out there that I feel this way, and then put out there the fact that I don't always feel this way. Like, I saw my picture in the New York Times style section. I was like, damn, I look so hot.
Kennedy
You looked amazing.
Kat Timf
And it felt like such a win over so many things that it tried to take me down to actually look at myself and be like, I look hot.
Kennedy
Yeah.
Kat Timf
Like, to objectify myself. Not just like, I'm so proud of you. You're so strong, but, like, you look hot.
Kennedy
Yes.
Kat Timf
You know, I could not have imagined that in March, when I was hobbling around my apartment with drains dangling on my side, you know?
Kennedy
Yes. With the newborn baby.
Kat Timf
With the literal newborn baby.
Kennedy
I know. And that was tough because there were times where you couldn't. You know, you could snuggle with your baby. You were side by side with your baby. You touched and kissed and nuzzled him constantly, but you couldn't, like, pick him up for a while.
Kat Timf
And it was such an insane scene in my apartment that I don't know how we got through it. So it's me, the dog, the geriatric cat, my husband Cam, my father, because my mom's dead. So I got my dad there, and A baby boy. So I'm surrounded by all these dudes.
Kennedy
And literally, it's all men. It's all males.
Kat Timf
There's a lot of penises in this apartment. And then me going through two things that are just so feminine. I mean, that are. That are just. That only a woman could even hope to understand, which is obviously being postpartum, having given birth, breastfeeding for a month, and then having your breasts removed, which, like, my husband can't. He's like, well, they're just fat. Like, he's like, your boo. They look way better now. Like, who care? And it's like, you don't get it. And he never will get it. And he can't get it because he's a dude.
Kennedy
Yeah.
Kat Timf
So I was going through that with all these men. It's like when I would hear my son cry, and I had just been. You know, just remove my boobs. And that was obviously hard enough because I love breastfeeding. I was really good at. I would have done it forever.
Kennedy
I could not believe how.
Kat Timf
So much milk. So much.
Kennedy
I've never seen anything like it. I know.
Kat Timf
It's. I was able to freeze enough to feed him for another month after that. There was so much insane.
Kennedy
Yes.
Kat Timf
So. But I just, you know, had that amazing experience. He's crying after I, you know, have had my mastectomy, and I have to go get a man to pick him up. Like, it just made me feel like a bad mom, even though I logically knew that wasn't the case. And what I did, I did because I want to be around for him for a long time, but to be like, all right, my son's crying. Everything. My body's screaming to go pick him up, but I can't do that, or I could really hurt myself, so let me go get one of these dudes. Like, it was just so, so hard. I don't know how all of us got through that. I really don't know how we did. People like, how'd you do that? I'm like, I don't know, but I must have, because I'm still here today. I literally don't know.
Kennedy
Other than your dad, who doesn't live in New York.
Narrator/Advertiser
No.
Kat Timf
Doesn't live in New York.
Kennedy
Yeah. No help. Like, it was amazing, like, beholding that as a friend. Like, it was absolutely incredible to see the two of you balancing this and then when you went back to work. But I have to know how. What is the process for picking out nipples? Like, do they have no menu?
Kat Timf
That's. I Don't know.
Kennedy
Are there pictures? Do you look at porn? Like, how do you decide? Is it something, like, aspirational? Like, you know, I've always wanted pink nipples the size of a saucer.
Kat Timf
I know I'm going to go see my plastic surgeon at the end of the month, so I wonder if that's when I'm going to start picking them out.
Kennedy
Yes. So.
Kat Timf
So I'm sure that's probably when I am gonna start picking them out.
Kennedy
I mean, do you pick size? Do you pick.
Kat Timf
Yeah, you pick everything. You get to pick everything.
Narrator/Advertiser
Are you.
Kennedy
Are you sticking with the original model?
Kat Timf
I think I'm gonna stick with the original model. With. Yeah, I think I'm gonna stick with the original model. But it's, like, such a weird thing to do to be like, what nipples would I like for myself? It was weird picking out my own boobs. It was very weird picking out my own boobs.
Kennedy
How do you do that? Are there shapes, like. Cause I've seen, like, teardrops.
Kat Timf
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's especially weird when you have no idea what your natural boobs would look like because your whole body from having just given birth. Because I have kept weight from my pregnancy, thank God, on my body, which looks great on me, and I love it. But, like.
Kennedy
And you look really strong.
Kat Timf
I've been working. I was so skinny before. I was so skinny. Way too skinny before. And then I gained weight with pregnancy. I've kept some of it, but I'm like. So my boobs from before pregnancy wouldn't fit. And then I'm like, okay, I was breastfeeding at the time. That's way too big. Those are gigantic. Gigantic. Gigantic. Especially. Cause I was overproducing. No way. So I didn't know what size to go with. So my doctor really kind of helped me. And there were certain things that you had to take into account. Like if I went a little smaller than they would have been too far apart. So, like, they kind of help you decide with that. But with my surgery, when I got my boobs fully removed, they put expanders and they put tissue expanders in, which.
Kennedy
Is that pretty typical?
Kat Timf
Yeah, it's. It's. Everyone's different. Some people go direct to implant. That wasn't an option for me. It's. It's. It's depends. Some women need radiation. Some people need to get treatment first. But for me, they put expanders in. And then after some healing time, I would go in every week and get them filled a little bit.
Kennedy
Interesting.
Kat Timf
So then I kind of got to try on different sizes. Now, it wasn't perfect because the expanders were way further apart than mine are now. Okay, so.
Kennedy
But you got a sense.
Kat Timf
I got a sense for what a different. All these different sizes would look like on my body. But it was such a weird thing. And I remember being. Feeling like I was embarrassed to, like, go out in public after with my implants because everyone's gonna be like, look what she picked. Those are the boobs you want. And, like, I just.
Kennedy
It just.
Kat Timf
It's just such a weird thing. It's so strange because it's like, you know, I don't know if you've ever heard of this before, but sometimes women have, you know, a tough time getting used to their postpartum body. Like, that's enough of a thing in its own. I also had to cut my off at the exact same time and get new ones.
Kennedy
You have, like, your. Your hormones are shifting, like, and, you know, it's like, you can be postpartum by a few months and think that you're good, and then all of a sudden, you get a curveball and an emotional curveball, and you're like, I did not. I was not told this totally. There's no book that talks about this. On top of navigating, you know, two surgeries, two major surgeries, healing and trying to figure out the system for caring for your baby and then coming back to work where everyone, on a good day when you look fantastic wants to pick you apart.
Kat Timf
Absolutely. Everyone's looking. But one thing that it kind of taught me, I guess, is just how. I mean, Buddhism talks all the time about attachment being the root of all this suffering. And I can kind of really had to live that because it's like, so much was changing about my body so fast that I didn't really have the time to. To pick apart any one thing. And I almost got kind of a crash course and like, boom. This is what. This is what you thought your body was. Look how fast that can change. Look how fast. So many things can change that I, in many ways, am more confident in my body now. Now, of course, the nipple thing, still really tough. Like, that's still really tough. Scars, still really tough. Going to be tough. But overall, I've had this sort of perspective shift of, like, how foolish to get attached to any of this. Look at how fast things can change. And I wonder if I hadn't gone through this trauma, if I would have been more critical of my body postpartum than I have been.
Kennedy
I think you would have, because I.
Kat Timf
Haven'T at all been. I haven't at all been. I'm like, wow, look what my body was able to do.
Kennedy
No, but it's like, the best thing. One of the best things, in addition to the fact that you're healthy and cancer free and have an absolutely beautiful baby.
Kat Timf
Yeah, he's really cute.
Kennedy
Sleeps when you put him down.
Kat Timf
Yes, he does.
Kennedy
I've never seen anything like that.
Kat Timf
Yeah.
Kennedy
And now I'm really excited for you to have a second baby, because I see if the second baby does it.
Kat Timf
The second baby's gonna be a nightmare. I just know it.
Kennedy
But you go like, the first baby, you're like, okay, I'm putting you in your crib. And then he puts his butt in the air and flips over.
Kat Timf
Puts his butt in the air and sleeps.
Snooki
Yeah.
Kat Timf
And he's just like.
Kennedy
And he's good with it. He's like, nope, we're good.
Kat Timf
And I'll see him in 11, 12 hours.
Narrator/Advertiser
Yeah.
Kennedy
Unbelievable. Never seen anything like it. I know. There are babies who sleep. My older one slept. Not like that, though. Like, it is. It is unbelievable. So I hope there's a system that. That, you know, you can replicate and show the rest of the world.
Kat Timf
It's just. It makes me really happy because, like. Sorry. Emotional. I wanted so badly for him to not know that this happened. Like, you know, I don't want him to, like, because babies can sense things. And I tried to not, like, melt down in front of him. I would try to, like, leave the room if I was going to freak out, because I just. I don't. He's just this sweet, innocent little boy. And I will. I will. It's like. I just want to be like, I'll tell you someday what an absolute show you were born into. But I don't want you to know right now that this is a show. I want you to know how much everyone loves you. And, man, did a lot of people come together for this little guy. I mean, Cam, my dad, and then you obviously were helping your daughter.
Kennedy
I know. That was the sweetest.
Kat Timf
It was really all hands on deck because we didn't have, like, a night nurse or a nanny or any. Any of that.
Kennedy
You really. I mean, you didn't.
Kat Timf
Because we were like, we'll be fine. Like, we'll be fine. We'll figure it out. But we were not. We didn't have a double mastectomy in planning, you know, in the cards. We didn't account that little, tiny little factor into our plan.
Kennedy
As the calendar flipped to 20. 25. Yeah. You know, what were you imagining going into the new year? Because you were, what, about eight months pregnant when we went into 20? 25?
Narrator/Advertiser
Yeah.
Kat Timf
Or so. Yeah. Yeah. About eight months. Yeah. I was like, wow, you know, I mean, I have this baby, and, like, I was so concerned because I had a lot of, like, swelling. So like, towards the end, I. My thighs were, like, freakishly gigantic. And I was like, I didn't know. I thought I was like. I thought I was just fat. I was like, I'm gonna be fat. I'm never gonna lose all this weight. And I was like, you know, putting oil on. So I didn't get stretch marks. Happy to report. Didn't get any stretch marks. Like, that was, like, the worst thing I could imagine was, like, that I would get stretch marks. And it's like, I don't have. Like, if I ever get them, I have, like, all these scar. Like, nobody. Like, I have so many scars now between the bag and that. It's like, whatever. I'm just. I'm just a scar lady.
Kennedy
But the shit bag was good preparation, wasn't it?
Kat Timf
Yes. Well, that's the thing. Like. Cause I had the bag. Like, the recovery from mastectomy was, like, a lot easier because I was like, I could still. And honestly, like, the postpartum poop that is, like, you know, scary. Like, was less scary when you've already, like, you know, pooped out your stomach. Sorry. This is disgusting. I imagine living it if you read your book. Yeah, but. But, yeah, like, I was like, oh, and, you know, I'm gonna spend all this time just, like, with my husband at home with our new little baby, and just, like, focus on that. Maybe, like, I'll get a little bit of stuff done. And I was so excited. I was so excited to breastfeed. I was, like, so into that. I also was, like, planning to give birth on epidural, and then I ended up needing one because I needed to relax my pelvis because he was facing the wrong way.
Kennedy
They also wanted to give you a.
Kat Timf
C section, and they did. And I made it to 7 centimeters without an epidural. I wanted to go the whole way, but, like, if there was no way.
Kennedy
The way he was, the way he.
Kat Timf
Was positioned, if I didn't have an epidural, then, like, he definitely would have been a C section because he was sunny side up. And they were really pressuring me to get a C section. They were telling me I needed one. And I was like, you don't get. You don't get it, like, I have to have a double mastectomy so I can't recover from all this. Like, I need to push this baby out. And I did, but it was very difficult. And I, like, busted a blood vessel in my eye, and I couldn't move my arm for, like, a while because I was, like, pulling.
Kennedy
Yeah.
Kat Timf
But, yeah, nothing. Basically all this to say literally nothing went according to plan. Literally nothing went according to plan.
Kennedy
And did you hear my interview with Adam Carolla? He's a genius. Do you love Katie Porter as much as I do?
Guest Commentator
I am so in love with Katie Porter.
Kennedy
Isn't she amazing?
Guest Commentator
She's great. But I, you know, I was making fun of her until she yelled at her staff, and then I was like, there's my kind. You single? My kind of lady. Yeah.
Kennedy
Get out of my shot.
Guest Commentator
I would never. I love. I never blame anyone for yelling at their staff. I'll tell you the two things I don't blame anyone for. Like the Bill O'Reilly, you know, just do it. Live.
Kennedy
Just do it. Live.
Guest Commentator
Right? It.
Kennedy
I'll write it myself.
Guest Commentator
You could put together 2000 hours of me doing that. Because it's like, you go, I don't do this. I don't. And then at some point, it happens, and you just snap.
Kennedy
Yeah.
Guest Commentator
And I get that. My beef with Katie Porter was. Is years old. There was a thing that I stumbled onto, and it was an advertisement from. It was either Washington Mutual or B of A or something, some big banking company. And I'll paraphrase it, but it's what made me hate her, probably going back about six years, because I didn't know who she was. And so there was a kerfuffle because a large banking institution, and I don't know which one, but one of them, they did this ad campaign. And the ad campaign was basically you talking to your savings account, right? And it's like you say to the savings account, how come there's no money in it? And then your savings account says, instead of paying $7 for a cup of coffee, why don't you make coffee at home? You know? And then you go, savings account. I have no money. And then the savings account goes, instead of hiring an Uber, why don't you just walk to the restaurant and get some exercise, you know? And it's a lot of like, why are you eating out every night? Make meals at home and save money. And it was basically a cute little thing that Washing Mutual was doing. Like, hey, save. You know, make your.
Snooki
Make.
Guest Commentator
Make. Make food at home and save money. And get some exercise and don't buy $7 coffee. Oh, I'm sorry. And then Katie Porter, along with Liz Warren, had to light into that. Of course, it was like, hey, B of A, why don't you pay your, you know, Washington Mutual? Why don't you pay your employees a living way?
Kennedy
No.
Guest Commentator
Instead of beating up on the unfortunate. And it's like, I was like, first off, you insane cow, lady, this is what your grandfather would have told you if you said, grandpa, I don't have any money. He'd say, you have enough to pay $7 for Starbucks every day, but you don't have enough for your car insurance. How about you make a pot of coffee at home? You know, this is all just sort of frontier wisdom. Basic stuff. Stuff you would tell your child if your child was off at college, didn't have any money. You'd say, well, I'm getting the receipts for your credit card. You're eating out. You eat sushi two nights. Make. Make some food at home. It was like, homespun, kind of cute. Basic. What this country used to be about advice. And Katie Porter and of course, Liz were. They just dug into the bank about paying a living wage to their employees. It's just a bunch of sort of. Yes, yes. Grandstanding. And so I, at the time, I was like, I don't know who Katie Porter is, but she's a dumb cow.
Kennedy
Do you think she's gonna be governor of California?
Guest Commentator
Oh, my God. It's weird. Cause you, like, you put nothing past California because their voters are so stupid or so ideological or willing to cut off their nose despite their face, they don't care. But that would be really unfortunate. But that would be a. That would be. Let's see, who's Chicago? Brandon Marshall.
Kennedy
Brandon Johnson is the mayor of Chicago. J.B. pritzker is the right.
Guest Commentator
Right. But they go from Lori Lightfoot to Brandon Johnson. Right? And so it's like, oh, you idiots didn't learn your lesson from this dope named Lori Lightfoot? And you decide to go further in the. You want to go further down that road. And so this would be a newsome. Lightfoot, Brandon Johnson, Lori. That Katie Porter would be like, can always get worse.
Kennedy
That's what people don't realize.
Guest Commentator
Like, yes, California. You don't think Newsom has ruined the state? Because we can. We only burn parts of it. We could burn it all down.
Kennedy
I was at my house on Tuesday. It's tragic, I know. And then hearing, what did you make of the guy they arrested, who set the fire? Did he seem like an antifa guy? Like, it's really difficult to wrap your head around someone that angry and ordinary who caused $150 billion in damage and burned the place that I love to the ground. Like, I. I have such a hard time even processing that.
Guest Commentator
I saw a great meme, because, of course, Newsom blamed man made climate change. You know, and they just showed a picture of him and they said, here's your man made climate change, idiot. Oh, God, it's so bad. I don't know. I mean, look, these guys are out there. They're gonna be out there, and there's nothing we can do about it other than get the part of it that we can control together, which is reservoirs and police stations.
Kennedy
The reservoir is still not full.
Guest Commentator
Yeah, don't make all the DEI hires over there either, when it comes to the fire department. Fix some of the fire trucks or any of that. Why don't we just do all that? Yes and yes.
Kennedy
They have enough tax money.
Guest Commentator
It seems like they do.
Kennedy
Like they're. They're not. I mean, trust me, that they've got the highest taxation rates in the country.
Guest Commentator
Well, I mean, they. The gas is the most expensive and the roads are the worst. So you tell me how that. If there's some sort of correlation, it's always like, I would like you to run for governor.
Kennedy
If nothing else, it would be very entertaining to see you on the debate stage.
Guest Commentator
Yeah, that would be fun. Me and Katie Porter, we'd flirt with.
Kennedy
Her the whole time.
Guest Commentator
First off, she just sounds like a horrible person. But again, yelling at her staff, that's really the only.
Kennedy
What about her husband? What about dumping the hot mashed potatoes on his head and burning his scalp? And then he had. He had to file a restraining order against her.
Guest Commentator
Well, you know, it's a. It's a. It's an interesting thing, which is I had a kind of hippie, progressive, you know, free to be, you and me, kind of mom. And I always said to everybody, although they didn't really listen, but I feel like they're listening now. The image of the progressive is taking a flower and putting it into the barrel of the National Guardsmen. Right? So that's like their image is, you know, you're the guy with the gun, but we're gonna give you a daisy and solve this problem. And I would tell everyone, oh, no, no. I was raised by one of these people. They're angry and they're rageful.
Kennedy
Oh, yeah.
Guest Commentator
And you think it's all peace and love and good vibes. And that is a veneer. Remember Ellen? She used to love to dance.
Kennedy
Same with Rosie. She's a fun one. What a great talk job.
Guest Commentator
Right? They're evil shrews. Why are they dancing, by the way? The two people dance on tv. Bill Cosby, when you. Everyone watch the beginning of the Bill Cosby show. And here's your challenge. If someone just put a camera on you and said, I'm gonna put a camera on you for 20 seconds, there's no sound, there's no microphone. You just do anything you want to do to convince America you're not a rapist. Go. You would do. That's what you do, right? You do his dance. Yeah, that's the dance you would do. If someone just said, you got 20 seconds, not rapists. I would just go, but you look.
Kennedy
Like a rapist when you do that. Like, I think, yeah, that's my problem.
Guest Commentator
That's why it wouldn't work.
Kennedy
Don't go anywhere more. Kennedy saves the world right after this.

One of my favorite MTV alums. Here's Snooki. So I promoted our podcast the other day on Fox News. And of all the people that I interview, my phone blew up from people like, oh, my God, you're interviewing Snooki. Like they were losing their minds. Because you're so deeply associated with people at that time in their life. And were you living other people's fantasy on the Jersey Shore?
Snooki
What do you mean? Like having, like, no care in the world and just like going and drinking. Yes. Yeah.
Kennedy
And what was, what was the difference between. So season one, obviously, like, you know, you had camera crews following you, but people didn't know who you guys were. A season two and beyond that totally changed. So what was, what was the difference in how you felt, were you as spontaneous in the following seasons after that initial time when you are completely uninhibited?
Snooki
Yeah. Cause I feel like I just got worse as seasons went on. I mean, season three, that's when I got arrested on the beach. So I would say, like, personally, for us and, like, how we acted, I think it just, like, made us more crazy and excited because, like, we knew we had fans, and it was just like, you know, they were buying a shot, so it was just like, more chaotic. But I would say, production wise, it was definitely harder to film the show because season one, you know, you didn't have crowds around you, and you could just, like, run and do whatever. And then, you know, once the show got popular, it's just like, it's hard to mingle with other people now because it's like, oh, my God, can I get a picture? You know what I mean? And, like, walking around, there were crowds. So it was definitely harder to shoot the show. But for us and, like, the attention that we got, we loved it, of course. Like, we were. We were a pagan. And swear on here. Sorry.
Kennedy
Yeah, you can. You can swear.
Snooki
Okay.
Kennedy
You can say whatever you want. If it's bad, they'll bleep it, but they won't edit it. They're not gonna cut anything out, but they. They might bleep a thing or two. But it must have been, like, just a gold mine for. I think Josh was the guy who discovered you, and the New York Times said that you were the breakout star of the show. But when they realized what they had, there was nothing like. And believe me, I was on MTV at a time where grunge and R B were exploding and hip hop exploding all at the same time. And it was all about the music. But Jersey Shore made MTV something other than the music.
Snooki
Yeah. Which, honestly, like, I wish they kept the music. Like, I'm sad that maybe we ruined it because we turned it all into reality. Because growing up, like, I loved the music. I love TRL so, like, watching MTV now, it's like, we need to bring back those moments because I just loved growing up to that, you know?
Kennedy
Did you feel guilty about that? Because I saw that as an evolution. And I remember being there, and I got to MTV the year the Real world debuted in 1992. And that changed. That changed everything. Because before that, they just. They had to try and program it so kids would stay through the next video like they. They. And that's why they would show the same videos over and over again, because you Know, if you showed the right Madonna video, people would tune in. But with the Real World, they realize, like, oh, my God, like, we can get people to stay a half hour at a time. And, you know, it's like there was nothing else. And if you could get that many people transfixed. And the. The reason your guys show worked so well is it was so authentic. It is what people try to create, and you can't manufacture something like that.
Snooki
Yeah, throw crazy. We're not jobs. We were not jobs. I think we're still not jobs. But Real World is what made me fall in love with reality. I literally, I think I tried out for Real World, like three times. I sent my things and I didn't hear anything. So I was like, oh, there's got to be a show that's, like, perfect for me. And then as I was, like, just forgetting about it and just, like, moving on because I was going to school to be a vet tech, like, I just wanted to, like, work with animals and save them. I was right when I gave up and I was like, it's just not gonna happen. That's when I saw the application and it said calling all guidos and guidance. And I'm like, oh. I was like, that's. That's my lifestyle. I like that. So, yeah, it's crazy. It feel. It feels like it was, like, all meant to be.
Kennedy
Who were you friends with before the show started?
Snooki
No one. Well, I knew. So I knew Dina during that time. Like, MySpace was like a huge thing that MySpace was like TikTok. So MySpace, that's where I met Dina, and we had, like, same mutual friends and stuff like that. So Dina, I was like, this girl is just like, me, like, love her lover vibe. So I only knew Dina, so walking into the house, everybody was a stranger to me.
Kennedy
Okay. But then you guys, you know, it seemed it wasn't long before you all coalesced and you were drinking and laughing and fighting. Yeah, it just.
Snooki
You.
Kennedy
You. And it just exploded.
Snooki
Yeah, I feel like it's because it's something nobody really saw before because, like, you know, the lifestyle of, like, Jersey and going down the shore and just, like, our mannerisms and how we talked and, like, how we dress. I feel like it was so foreign to, like, people that aren't on the east coast that they were like, what? Who are these creatures? Why are they like that? And then, you know, obviously all the fighting and everything and all the hookups, me getting punched in the face by a guy. I mean, you don't really see. You haven't seen that on reality TV yet.
Kennedy
No.
Snooki
So I feel like it was just a lot of things that people crap. Did I sue him?
Kennedy
Yeah. No.
Snooki
No. I kind of just wanted to forget about it. Like, I just wanted to move on and pretend it never happened. But then, like, obviously, like, it keeps playing over and over and everyone talks about it all the time, which I'm, like, fine with now. Like, you know, obviously in the beginning it was like, oh, my God, I can't believe that happened. But then, like, recently I saw there was a news article in, like, the newspaper. His father was talking about how it's my fault that he lost his job and he couldn't get a job anywhere, so he had to join the military or something. And I'm just like, I didn't tell.
Kennedy
Maybe don't hit women. Yeah, maybe don't hit women.
Snooki
So the dad was blaming me for his son's career being over. So that was the last I heard of him.
Kennedy
How tall was that guy?
Snooki
I don't remember well, because I thought he was. Okay, so he was probably, I don't know, five, six, five seven. And I was standing on the bar, so. Well, not on the bar, but you know, like, how there's like a little. There's a little pole, like, on the bottom. I was standing on there because I'm too short to see over the bar.
Kennedy
Yeah.
Snooki
So, I mean, we were almost like he was still taller than me. Whatever.
Kennedy
I don't know. It's still. It's still a move. So when the Jersey Shore, as it existed, ended, were you. Did you still want to be on tv or were you like, I gotta envision a different life for myself?
Snooki
Well, no, at that point, it was a career. Like, I made a career out of it. I was. I employed my parents. I was like, they were. My parents were working for me. They quit their jobs. I mean, it was act. It was a career at that point. So once season six ended, I was pregnant with my first son, Lorenzo. And that's when they gave us a spin off for Snooki and jwoww, which we did four seasons of. So I never really had a break from filming because I always did spin offs and I did, like, hosting shows here and there. So I never wanted to take a break. I just wanted to keep it going because I did love, and I still love doing reality and, you know, working in tv.
Kennedy
Do you ever want your life to be your own? Do you ever feel like it's invasive or have you gotten to the point where you're Such a businesswoman. And you're so aware of what you need to do for you to keep your. Your brand growing that you know how to carve everything out.
Snooki
No. Yeah. I feel like my life is my own. Like, my private life, my personal life. I feel like I. I'm not in the public eye. Like, that's how comfortable my life is because me and my husband keep things private. My kids do normal things. I go to cheer comps with my daughter, wrestling baseball. I feel like a normal mom and a normal wife. And then, so Gianni always Sundays, I have two lives. So one life is like, me at home, like, no makeup, looking like Adam Sandler, being a mom and a wife. And then I go to work and I just. I. That's when I get dolled up and I go on TV and I'm Snooki. So my life is definitely. I have a good balance. And where I live, it's all, like, friends and family and community. And they don't treat me like. They treat me normal, which I love. And I don't want to be treated anything different. So I feel like I have a good balance.
Kennedy
Do you volunteer at school?
Snooki
I do do some PTA stuff, only because my kids beg me to. It's not because I want to, because I'm not.
Kennedy
That's really sweet. And do that as long as you can, because.
Snooki
Yeah.
Kennedy
My 16 year old, her. Her class had a trip to the UN and they wanted parent chaperones. And I told her, like, I'm gonna volunteer to be a chaperone. And she was like, mom, no.
Snooki
Yeah.
Kennedy
And I'm like, what do you think I'm gonna do? Do you think I'm gonna, like, wear a Fox News vest?
Kat Timf
Like, hi, everyone.
Kennedy
I'm Lotus.
Snooki
Look at me.
Kennedy
Yeah. Hey, guys.
Snooki
No, I know.
Kennedy
Breaking news.
Snooki
Yeah. So my two oldest. Well, my oldest definitely wants nothing to do with me. And he's in sixth grade. He'll be 13. But my. My daughter, she's 10. She's in fourth grade. She's starting to do that. But, like, she still, like, wants me around. And then obviously my little one, he always wants me around.
Kennedy
So even, like, even when they seem like they don't want you around, they still want you around.
Snooki
Yeah.
Kennedy
That is one of the most important things I've learned through adolescence is they need you now more than ever, but they don't know how to ask you, and they actually feel really guilty. And you probably remember being a teenager and getting in fights with your parents and you feel so bad.
Snooki
Oh, yeah. It was terrible.
Kennedy
But now you're probably really close with your family.
Snooki
Oh, my mom's my best friend. I love my dad so much. I'm just like, I'm so sorry I put you through all that. Guys, like, horrible.
Kennedy
And what did they. So after they watched season one of Jersey Shore, what did they think? Were you like, no, this is a character. I'm still Nicole. I'm sweet and innocent.
Kat Timf
This is just.
Kennedy
It's just something fun we do that's not real life. Or were they like, we have to get you to rehab?
Snooki
Oh, no. Because they knew. They knew growing up, like, me and my friends would sneak Smirnoff Ices. We like to go out. We like to have a good time. So my dad was like, just be careful what you do. And my mom was like, don't drink too much. So they knew, like, I like to have a good time and whatever. And I was 21. So literally right when the show started, that's when I was. That's when I like turned 21. I was ready to go. So I was like, legally okay to like going to bars and stuff. So I had a blast. Now they never mentioned rehab because I didn't drink like that every day. You know what I mean?
Kennedy
Yeah, according to Vinnie, you did.
Snooki
Vinnie was like, grub.
Kennedy
She's drunk all day long. She drinks morning until four. Four in the morning. This has been Kennedy saves the world. I'm Kennedy. Listen. Ad free with the Fox News podcast plus subscription on Apple podcast and Amazon Prime. Members can listen to this show ad free on the Amazon music Apple.

Both Kennedy and Snooki share stories about being involved parents and the universality of adolescent pushback:
Snooki recounts her parents’ reactions to Jersey Shore; they were more concerned about her drinking and fun but accepted it as part of her youthful phase.
