What's up, y'all? It's Tim Geddes from Kinda Funny. Here's the deal. We have been celebrating 10amazing years of Kinda Funny and it's been going great. We added the Kind of Funny membership to Apple Podcast and to Spotify. We added video on Spotify. We made a whole bunch of different changes to our content lineup. And with that, there's always going to be some hiccups and some hurdles. We are trying our best the last couple weeks to figure out how to get all that content to you as fast as possible in as high qual as possible with as few mistakes as possible. And we're, we're learning how to best do that. There's been a lot of patience we've had to ask from you for us to have the time to kind of figure all that stuff out. As we're doing that, I wanted to keep y'all updated on where we're at just so there's as few questions as possible. I know there's a lot of questions and I want you all to know we're working very hard here to try to figure this all out. It's just difficult with the amount of shows we do on the amount of platforms that we have. And I'm not even talking about the KF membership side. I'm even just talking about delivering things when they're live. Video, podcast, all of those things. With that being said, one of the things I wanted to update everybody on because we do know the source of what's happening is the different podcast feeds. You might have noticed that a couple shows are coming up multiple times if you've subscribed to different Kind of funny shows over the years. The only podcast feeds that we are using going forward are Kind of Funny Games Daily, Kind of Funny Games Cast, Kind of Funny in Review, and Kind of Funny Podcast if you previously subscribed to PS I love U. Xoxo, xcast, Screencast, kfaf. We have cool friends. Any of the shows that somebody killed those feeds have now been replaced with the feeds of four shows. I said so. Gamescast, Games Daily KF Podcast in review. You do not need to subscribe to multiple instances of each show. So if you are, you can unsubscribe and just make sure you're subscribed to one of each of those four and you should not be getting duplicate uploads going forward and everything will be great. If you are trying to get any of that older content you can find it on YouTube or of course if you're on Patreon. The entire history of Kind of Funny is there. You can get that but for free can get all of it on YouTube. Unfortunately this was a merge that was out of our hands. We were not prepared or planning to have it happen this way and it is now irreversible. So this is just something that we are dealing with and I'm g let you know right now I'm not that happy about but that's more the past than the future. I'm very happy with where we're at now. This is going to be better for Kind of Funny going forward. So thank you for your patience. I'm so sorry that this is confusing and and weird but sometimes the best things in life are so moral of the story is make sure you're subscribed to Kind of Funny Games daily Kind of Funny Games cast Kind of Funny in review Kind of Funny Podcast just once each on podcast feeds on the podcast service of your choice. Do not subscribe to multiple instances or else you're just going to get so much, so much content. There you go. One other thing now moving to the KF membership side of things. We are trying our best to figure out the best workflow to record shows, edit shows, get them uploaded and get them to you as fast and in high as high quality as possible in video and audio forms where applicable. And we are realizing there was a lot of issues with how Spotify handles things, how Apple handles things, how Patreon handles things, how YouTube handles things. And we're trying to find the best path forward to get it to everyone as fast as possible. One major issue, not issue, one major thing we have noticed is the Spotify.
C
Ad free version for Kind of Funny members. The audio only version is the first thing to post then the public for everyone. But with ads, video and audio post at the same time and then the video ad free post on Spotify that is out of our control and it all has to do with processing. We upload, then it's on their end to process and it is just in order of when that thing is done processing and then it gets to everybody. We're trying our best to find ways to record in different codecs and formats and a whole bunch of production tricks and tips that we're trying out here to make that process as fast and again, high quality as possible. But just letting y'all know we're doing everything we can to make this an optimal experience. It is just very difficult when we're working with other people in their systems. But you might notice if you are, this really mainly affects Spotify non kind of funny membership people. So if you're trying to get the show free on Spotify, you might notice that it's there's a lock on it that is just because the ad, the version with ads that's free for everybody has not yet processed but it is processing. So keep coming back, keep refreshing and will eventually be there or get the kind of funny membership and it should be a little faster there that's on Spotify. I don't want to get too much in the details here that the most important thing for you to know is we're on it, we're trying our best and there's always going to be uploading and processing and time and I wish it was all instant. Maybe one day it is. But for now I appreciate your patience. Thank you so much. And I want you to know that you are Greg just ran in with the stars in the bank. This is the life that I have to live. Until next time. It's been our pleasure.
Episode: An Update on Kinda Funny Podcast Feeds
Release Date: January 23, 2025
Hosts: Greg “GameOverGreggy” Miller, Tim Gettys, Blessing Adeoye Jr., and guests
Tim Gettys opens the episode by reflecting on the milestone of celebrating 10 amazing years of Kinda Funny. He expresses gratitude towards the community for their unwavering support and patience during a period of significant changes and growth.
Tim Gettys (00:31): "We have been celebrating 10 amazing years of Kinda Funny and it's been going great."
The team has expanded their offerings by integrating the Kinda Funny membership across major platforms like Apple Podcasts and Spotify, as well as introducing video content on Spotify. These enhancements aim to provide a richer and more accessible experience for their audience.
Tim Gettys (00:31): "We added the Kind of Funny membership to Apple Podcast and to Spotify. We added video on Spotify."
A significant portion of the update focuses on optimizing podcast feeds to eliminate duplicate episodes and enhance user experience. The team has consolidated their various podcast feeds into four primary streams:
Tim advises listeners to unsubscribe from older or redundant feeds to avoid receiving the same content multiple times. Legacy feeds such as PS I Love U, Xoxo, Xcast, Screencast, and KFaf have been discontinued and replaced with the new consolidated feeds.
Tim Gettys (01:30): "You do not need to subscribe to multiple instances of each show. So if you can unsubscribe and just make sure you're subscribed to one of each of those four and you should not be getting duplicate uploads going forward."
For listeners seeking access to older content, Tim points them towards YouTube or Patreon, where the entire history of Kinda Funny is available.
Tim Gettys (02:10): "If you are trying to get any of that older content you can find it on YouTube or of course if you're on Patreon. The entire history of Kind of Funny is there."
The team is diligently working to improve the workflow for recording, editing, and uploading shows to ensure high-quality and timely delivery across all platforms. However, they acknowledge challenges stemming from the varied handling of content by platforms like Spotify, Apple, Patreon, and YouTube.
Tim Gettys (03:00): "We are trying our best to figure out the best workflow to record shows, edit shows, get them uploaded and get them to you as fast as possible in as high as high quality as possible."
A notable issue discussed is the delay in content processing on Spotify, which affects both ad-supported and ad-free (KF membership) streams. For non-members accessing free content on Spotify, there may be a lag before episodes become available without ads.
Tim Gettys (04:16): "You might notice that there's a lock on it that is just because the ad, the version with ads that's free for everybody has not yet processed but it is processing."
To mitigate this, Kinda Funny is exploring different codecs and production techniques to expedite the processing time, ensuring a smoother experience for their listeners.
Tim Gettys (04:50): "We're trying our best to find ways to record in different codecs and formats and a whole bunch of production tricks and tips that we're trying out here to make that process as fast and again, high quality as possible."
Tim concludes the update by reiterating the team's commitment to delivering quality content and expressing optimism for the future. He acknowledges the current challenges but assures listeners that improvements are underway to enhance the overall experience.
Tim Gettys (04:55): "The most important thing for you to know is we're on it, we're trying our best and there's always going to be uploading and processing and time and I wish it was all instant. Maybe one day it is."
He extends his gratitude once more for the community's patience and support, promising continued efforts to optimize their services.
Tim Gettys (05:10): "Thank you so much. And I want you to know that you are appreciated. Until next time. It's been our pleasure."
In this episode of Kinda Funny Games Daily, the team provides a comprehensive update on the restructuring of their podcast feeds and the challenges associated with multi-platform content delivery. By consolidating their feeds and enhancing membership services, Kinda Funny aims to streamline the listener experience and maintain the high-quality standards their audience expects.
