A
Today in the nerdy news, you need to know about another clair obscure game is coming. Bethesda teases a new story dlc.
B
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Slap nuts. This ain't your show anymore. This is the last outlaw double. Jeff, Jared here, and we're here to talk about Acclaim, my friend. No, no, shut up, Greg. Barrett gave me. He pulled all the strings. This is my show, not yours, pal.
A
Barrett, I specifically wasn't on yesterday's show because I didn't want to talk about.
C
He requested today. And you know Jarrett rhymes with Barrett.
A
Stop saying that. That's a terrible reason to be on his side.
B
It's a beautiful. Look, Barrett knows what's coming September 10th, so choke on that slappy.
A
We talked about it yesterday. They talked about in the show. There's not even news. You put up another teaser saying there's an Acclaim showcase or whatever on September 10th. We get it. We'll cover it then. Jeff, there's no news.
B
Now, listen, Greg. Listen, Greg, you've got the whole hour to spend with me. You're gonna.
A
No, no, we don't. Yes.
B
This is gonna be the best hour you've ever.
A
Here's your problem, Jeff, is that you did the classic heel move. You telegraphed that you're gonna come for me today. So I'd like to remind you who you're dealing with, all right? I'm a game award winner. All right? I'm the Nick Scarpino game showdown winner. I'm a kind of feudy champion. I'm the fantasy critic champion. And I am your current reigning and sexiest world champion. Have you ever seen a real title, Jeff? Have you ever seen one you had to earn that wasn't just handed to you?
B
No, no, no, my friend, you left one thing out. All you are is a gift. That's gif a gif a gift. In my world, that's all you are is just another guitar smash along the lines of Beetlejuice, Gary Coleman, and a lot of other little people.
A
Jeff Jarrett. Yeah.
D
You're speechless.
B
You're speechless. Garrett Barrett just cut his feed.
A
No, don't cut mine. Don't cut mine.
C
I've cut his mic. I've got it for you, Jeff.
B
Folks, welcome to Kind of Funny Games. We're here, and we're going to talk about all kinds of things.
A
We're not. He's not hosting. He's not hosting the show. This is not. He's not even a man. He didn't come here. He didn't come to the studio. Someone go collect this man. Karen, come give your husband his pills. He needs to go back to bed. All right. Get him out of here. Looking in the chat.
B
These people hate you, pal.
A
No, no, they don't. They love me. They hate you. Wow. We're gonna return to Silent Hill's first trailer because that's dropped. And we'll have all this and more because this is kinda fun. Of Games Daily. What's up, everybody? Welcome to Kinda Funny Games daily for Wednesday, August 27, 2025. I'm one of your hosts, Greg Miller, alongside the master of Hype Snow Bike, Mike.
D
Good morning, Greg. Great to see you.
A
It's great to see you, Mike. How you been?
D
You know it's Wednesday. We're halfway through the work week, smiling.
A
It's getting sad now. We're almost over.
D
I thought today was Thursday and I got real uptight.
A
Yeah. I woke up this morning. I woke up in the middle of the night thinking it might be Sunday.
D
Yeah.
A
So I'm like, whoa, I'm real off. I'm real off.
D
I'm welcome into work. It's Wednesday. We're feeling good, looking good. I got some fun news stories for you today. Some Starfield news in there.
A
I can't.
D
I know you love that.
A
I was stuck on the road coming here real quick. Liar goes. That was pre recorded, huh? No, I'm just that good that I swept all my shit onto the floor.
D
Very good.
A
It's all right here.
D
Don't worry about it.
A
This is how good we are. Kind of funny about keeping you on your toes, Mike. What are you playing, Greg?
D
A lot of Pokemon. I know you have Pokemon. I'm sure you've been deep into Pokemon as well.
A
That was my big summer vacation. Now I'm on redacted. Yeah, we're doing our Pokemon breakdown next week for me on kind of funny Gamescast, which I'm very excited about. But yeah, yeah.
D
A lot of Pokemon for you.
A
Well, no, no, I saw the chat popping off earlier. Did you finish the fourth gym? Did you do it?
D
Wow. I did. Lot of grinding.
A
Farthest you've ever been in your Nuzlock?
D
Farthest I've ever been. We're going into uncharted territory now, but Greg, it was a lot of fun. Took a lot of grinding, Right. There's a lot of momentum, a lot of building. And then guess what? One Pokemon took out the whole entire gym.
A
That's what you love to see.
D
And so, yeah, I'm doing a lot of tight battles I'm working on, like what is good against what Outside the game, what kind of stab bonuses am I looking for? Things like that. So I'm having fun with Pokemon. Having a lot of fun with the king is watching.
A
Oh yeah.
D
Talking a lot about that. I love a good tower defense game so it's a nice little blend of it. I'm still in rookie hours on it. Sure you will clearly get better and get a lot more going on, but I'm in rookie hours having some fun with that. Anything you can play without redacted. Anything else you're playing?
A
No. Well, yeah, here's the thing. As you know, I've done this a long, long time.
D
Tell me.
A
I still get scared about like you know, I say on Greg way, I was like in today's content is going to be expensive. And I was like, you know what, I just want to double check.
D
Yeah, yeah.
A
So I can talk about Outer Worlds too. Today we're talking about that on Gamescast. So of course the one, the only best voice in the business, Paris Lilly joining us to talk about Outer Worlds. To have a whole star studded cast there as well as Tim Gettys talking about Kirby. So that's exciting stuff.
D
That's great. Yes. Greg, just really quick. My world's kind of on hold.
A
Don't say My World.
D
September don't say my world 16th.
A
Jeff Jarrett's podcast is called My World.
D
Really?
A
There's this guy named Conrad that carries Jeff's dumb dead ass the entire show.
D
Yeah, my world's kind of on hold until September 16th. Greg skate early Access.
A
That's. Wow, Mike, there's so many good games.
D
I know but all I can think about is skates.
A
What about Borderlands? You're not a Borderlands. You know, I'm excited for the Borderlands.
D
I'm hoping you know what I mean. I burned the boys out on three. We didn't have the great greatest time with Tiny Tina. So like I'm hoping that we can get the Borderlands love going again. But no, all eyes are on skates right now. For me, that's where I want to be.
C
We lost your mic, Craig. Hold on. Yell into Mike's mic.
A
No, no, hold on. It just came unplugged. It came unplugged. Am I back now? Yeah, sorry about that. Jeff gets me all hot and bothered. I move around a lot. I never watched the Skater Early Access trailer hit in an inopportune time. Should we watch that? Could we watch that? Are we gonna get claimed? Did we already watch that on a show? Where we at with all that content?
D
We Talked about it yesterday. It's the celebration of skate Early Access. Me and.
A
Did you watch the trailer?
D
We did not watch the trailer.
A
There's a trailer? I haven't seen the trailer. Does it have like a. Does it have like Paradise City? Are we gonna get in trouble?
D
Oh yeah, they'll have something.
A
Ah, forget it. We won't do it. Don't worry about it. Very excited for skate.
D
You know that can't wait. Greg, I think it's a good moment for you, me and Bless to team up together and go have some fun. But this is.
A
This is it silent?
D
Yes.
A
Love it.
D
This is San Vansterdam.
A
Yeah.
D
San Francisco, Amsterdam, Vancouver mixed into one.
A
Yes, I picked up on that. Yeah, I liked. I got this today or you and me got it 30 minutes ago. I assume this is all out yesterday, but again, I haven't had the chance to really dive in. Everyone knows I'm a big skate guy, so I'm excited for this. What got me hot and bothered about what to expect here on this press release. They put out seasonal content. Regular updates bring fresh content and seasonal events. Season one throws it back to skateboarding's golden era, the 90s. Featuring new skateable areas, challenges, cosmetics, music tracks and so on. Then it goes seasonal themed events kick off season one with themed events like Skate O Ween and seven Ply Maple. Yes, I love seasonal events and I love Halloween and I love fall.
D
You should.
A
So right there, I'm immediately all set.
D
You're the king of Halloween.
A
King of Halloween. You should be tweeting the shark.
D
Hey, put some Ghostbusters merch in here. Give me the jumpsuits. You want to see me get the chat? Really mad too, Greg.
A
Sure.
D
Another thing I'm excited about.
A
Yeah.
D
NBA 2K drops this week on early access.
A
How much money you spend?
D
How much money are you giving them? A hundred dollars. Greg, off the rip. Okay. I have to do it, Greg.
A
Unfortunately, somebody's got to support these small developers. I can't put the money back into the system you hate because then they'll stop making the system you hate. You're right. This won't fuck up my WWE games. Nice.
D
I can't go into. I mean, you weren't in the island like I was. Remember? I committed to the.
A
I know you did.
D
The island. I can't walk into the neighborhood, the park, the pro am, the wreck. As a just 67 overall, looking like I'm working for UPS and my all around track.
A
You can't do it, y'. All.
D
I gotta give him 100. I gotta get to 87 overall. I gotta work on my build. I gotta trash that build. Gotta give him another hundred for a second build and hope that that build is the meta. Okay. I'm going to be looking up a lot of YouTubers. They're going to be like this seven two demigod is the new build. I'm on it, man. I can't wait. Greg.
A
God exciting now while you're doing your jabroni work over there. Yeah, I'm doing God's work. And I've just text messaged Mr. Skate to say put Ghostbusters in skate. Thank you. This was written on Kind Of Funny Games Daily Live.
D
Great call.
A
We're changing the games industry right now. You're making it worse. I'm making it better.
D
That's what it's all about.
A

Today we're brought to you by X Real, but we'll tell you about that later. For now, let's begin the show with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. Time for some news. Six items on the roof report.
D
Baker's dozen.
A
Can you believe Barrett once told me he loved me more than his wife and I was more important to his life than his wife. But he sells me out to Jeff Jarrett because Barrett rhymes with Jared.
C
When did I ever say this?
A
That one time at the bar.
D
That's beautiful.
C
When we were playing.
A
We had to find another co op game to go to a bar. Number one on the rope. Report. Another Claire Obscure game is coming. This is Vicky Blake over at IGN. Good news, Claire obscure Expedition 33 fans. Claire obscure is not just the shortened name for developer Sandfall Interactive's blockbuster rpg. It's also the name of an entire franchise. Quote Claire Obscure is the franchise name. Expedition 33 is one of the stories that we want to tell in this franchise. Director Guillaume Broche told Mr. Matty plays as reported by the gamer. I put way too much R in that. Broche. That's not how you say it exactly, quote, so exactly what it will look like and what the concept will be is still too soon to announce. But what is sure is that this is not the end of the Clair Obscure franchise. End quote. And if that wasn't quite obvious enough for you, he also specifically talked about his process for when he, quote, write sequels too, leaving us with little doubt that a follow up game is on the way. Michael?
D
Yes?
A
Are you surprised? Are you shocked? Are you blown away?
D
No, I'm not surprised. I'm more happy. Congratulations to that team. Of course that's a big deal, right? Coming out as a indie developer, putting out your game and finding great success. Right. I mean this is a big deal to be able to say, hey, we're going to be able to come out with another game and in fact, hey, we're going to build a franchise off of this.
A
Sure.
D
We kind of talked about franchises yesterday, me and Andy with Herman Holston, the PlayStation team and like building off of that. Now, of course you have a name that is recognizable like Claire Obscure and of course Expedition 33 you got to build off of that momentum in my mind. So. Yeah, it's going to be big.
A
Do you think? And Barrett, I know you're a big fan, so please come on in. Do you think. Is this like a dark pictures anthology kind of thing or. Because, like, I know the story of Expedition 33. We're getting out of that world, I would assume. No, no spoilers.
D
I'll let Bear go on that.
C
There are implications of bigger stuff outside of. It's weird to talk about this with, like, while trying to be spoiler.
A
Yeah, I know, I know. Frankly, you've all had enough time.
C
Yeah, I'll still try my best, though.
A
No, no, I'm still saying we. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
C
There are bigger implications of the world at large. I will say.
A
Okay.
C
That are kind of teased throughout Expedition 33. That felt like clear kind of setup of like they. They definitely want to do more in this. In this world.
A
Okay.
C
If that makes sense.
A
That makes sense. That makes sense. I'll take that. I appreciate that. I appreciate that. Interesting. Because of course we want more from that team. I would have never thought that Claire Obscure was an IP brand. You want to go. I saw someone. It's way gone. The chats very active today. Hello, everybody. Please. If you have Amazon prime, you have Twitch from talking about. Oh, maybe it's like Final Fantasy where we're using the Final Fantasy moniker, but they're not necessarily. They could be linked, but they're not.
C
Necessarily linked because I could see, like, I don't expect this to be a direct sequel to Expedition 33, but like a different story in this world, which I think could be cool.
D
Do we. Do we get an Expedition 45, Barrett, where we go to the teams that didn't make it as like a spin off.
C
Like, I don't think that's the sequel.
A
You do as a mobile game, but.
C
I could see like a fun, like. Like spin off or DLC maybe one day. I think that could be really fun.
D
Yeah, I think there's a lot of room to play here. Like Baird says, you can go directly off of what you just built. You can have a side story. They have an incredible world going on over here, so I think there's a lot of strings to pull from. The question is, like, how long does this take Greg?
A
Right.
D
Is the momentum still there? I think you have such a high right now going on in this. In this year that everyone will remember the name. They're going to look forward to what you have next. They were praised for the combat. What they did with turn based combat and making it a little more engaging and fun with their twist. So yeah, I think you got a good opportunity here and this is a team we'll root for for sure.
A
So then my question would become this, Barrett, Mike and of course you, the super chats on YouTube.com kind of funny games for you for the next Claire Obscure. What makes a Claire Obscure game a Claire Obscure game? Does it have to be turn based? Does it have to be French as fuck? Banger soundtrack? Gotta have that, Gotta have that.
C
Yeah. I, I would say to, you know, if there's any way that they want to evolve their combat system and the mechanics around that, I think that would be great. Like I don't see them changing this fully to like an action game or yeah, even like an action RPG fully. I think they've found like a really cool meld between kind of something that feels actually, but also turn based. And I think that's why a lot of people like did kind of click with it of like, oh, turn based games can actually be really cool and fun and engaging. I think the things I would want to see is kind of like the, the Pictos and Luminous system like already really cool and fun to play around with. But I'd be interested to see how they could iterate upon that in sequels. And then yeah, and again with the world, the bigger, the world at large of Claire Obscure, I think it would have to be French as fuck. But and again, the thing I would like to see in a sequel like again, it's hard to really explain, I'll say is like, you know, a lot of the themes of Expedition 33 has to do a lot with painting. You know, you have the painters and all this stuff, right. I, I, it would be cool to see other art forms depicted and represented represented in a cool and similar fashion.
A
Podcasting.
C
Podcasting, you know what I mean? For sure. Or like writing podcast.
A
We gotta stop her.
D
She's in her studio.
A
Whenever she says what's up everybody? A new generation dies. We could ride this game easy. We're right there. Okay. I like that.
D
I'm with Barrett. I think you build off of the turn based combat that wowed everybody right now you, I, I think you have to do that. I think if you took a step to the side, you'd still get the excitement. But I think what, what you just built off of, you have to go with that one for sure.
A
And then the next question I think would be how long until you see it? We've talked a lot before, right? This is a small developer. I'm doing a quick Google search. Right. I don't know this off the top of my head, but they're talking about initial concepts for the Original started in 2016. Main development started in late 2020. When do you think you'd actually get your hands on this? Because this is another push and pull of. Well, do you ramp up the team and I know they used a lot of contractors. This has been a conversation. But do you ramp up the main team and to make this faster and then do you lose some of the charm of what it was to be a small studio? Or do you. Is this. Are we into a situation like Hollow Knight where this is successful enough that they can just take their time, they can do what they want, they can make another clear obscure game?
D
That's a great question, Greg.
A
I see wieners this three years. I think you're crazy. Kobe says five to seven. I agree with that.
D
Yeah, I was going to nestle in that 2029. But then when you break that down, that's about three years here because we're almost at the end. That's almost too close. Right. To really put the effort and the time in. Like you said you could ramp up this team real quick off of the sales that you had and try to grab that. But yeah, I would say we probably get a tease. 2029 at the Game Awards. I bet you we start seeing this really ramp up. 2030, 2031 for the summer showcases and release.
A
2031. Can you imagine? I. And it's real. And that's not. I'm not. You're not wrong. That's the first time I've ever heard someone say 2031.
D
Pretty wild, right?
A
Jesus. We're there. We'll either have flying cars or all out civil war by then. Bar, what do you have to say?
C
I chat. Let me know if I'm wrong. It was Unreal Engine 5. Right. For Clar Obscure. I do wonder with a lot of the groundwork that they've done with building this first game in terms of playing around with that engine and kind of knowing what they want that world visually to look like, I could see that game coming. 2029.
A
Okay. Okay.
C
It's just a matter of how much do they want to make different for a sequel and then in terms of what is it like writing and, you know, all that, all that jazz, how long that takes them.
A
Okay.
D
And you're not going back to this. Where did you fall on this?
A
No, this is the one that we had a whole. We did the games cast on where it was just like we need. I just need to admit to myself I can't do turn based games. And with the rare exception which Pokemon is an exception. But Pokemon, you know, baby's turn based game. But I. And then it's. Now it's the. You know, I love Octopaths. Well, this next Octopath I know is the mobile spin off or whatever. But will it be enough for me? There's the one that I talk about all the time. It was on my Steam Wishlist games. The. In the time traveling one. That looks awesome. That's an indie rpg. I still will try.
D
Okay.
A
I just can't. I can't. So yeah, when I. I played a lot of this and I get it. I see it. I know objectively as video game guru, whatever talking head Greg. But as a player, I'm like, I want to go play something else. So I did what a respectable person did is and went to Wikipedia and read the story. Oh. And I was like, okay. Wow. Okay. I was like this. No, this. I don't think this would work for me the same way. But you know how it is. Sorry Barrett. Gotta do it.
C
Listen to our spoiler cast instead.
A
I still will. Ash wrote in and said no. And this is a super chat. No spoilers. But there's no spoilers. But they clearly established by the end that there is more to learn. Any sequel would have the same bones but expand the lore.
D
That's exactly right.
A
Okay. And then Roman writes in. Yeah, I don't. I don't. He's. I think he even says he ends this for those who haven't played the game. I don't want to elaborate, even knowing what I know. I wouldn't want to read this to elaborate on it, but I appreciate you super chatting Rowan to have some thoughts on this idea. Well, Michael, everyone knows that Claire Obscure Expedition 33 is in the running for game of the year this year. Let's move on to story number two, which is about a two time game of the year winner, Starfield. STARFIELD DEVELOPER TEASES Story DLC Space Gameplay Changes and New System Systems this is Alessio palomba over at WCCFtech. Bethesda Game Studios has released a new Developer Spotlight video that also includes a few tidbits about upcoming content and features for Starfield. The video is dedicated to lead creative producer Tim Lamb. Lamb. Yeah. Okay. As somebody who hasn't seen the trailer yet, that sentence makes it sound like Tim is dead. This is dedicated to this guy who died. Nope. He's talking.
D
Got it. I watched it. It's all about Tim. Yeah, it's about Tim's journey.
A
Lamb teased a new story DLC as well as some space gameplay change and other new gameplay systems. Quote Starfield is sort of the culmination. It does so many of the things that those other games do, but like four times as much. Everything is what we did before, plus more fidelity, more complexity. To me, Starfield is like making four games. None of them were great. You have. You're running around, you know, I love the game, so I'm just joking. You have your running around shooting aliens and space guys. You have your flying around in a spaceship, shooting other spaceships. You have the space. You have the ship builder game, you have the outpost game. I think as it comes to Starfield, I'm really excited for players to see what the team has been working on. We have some cool stuff coming, including free updates and features the players have been asking for, as well as a new DLC story. I can't go into all the details yet, but I will say part of the team has been focused on space gameplay to make travels there more rewarding. We're also adding some new game systems and a few other similar delights. There's also some really interesting stuff coming down the pipe from our verified creators. We can't wait to get it all into the hands of our players. Data miners recently discovered hints that an interplanetary travel mechanic, which is notoriously missing in the base game. That could be what Lamb is referring to, though it's always better to wait until we get the concrete details before getting truly excited. I need to watch this as Starfield's number one fan.
D
Yeah, shout out to my guy, Tim. He's got a cool vibe about him. He wears a visor and I like visors.
A
He's the Gruden. The Gruden of Bethesda.
D
Yeah, he. He's got an awesome journey. Starting out playing qa, testing Spyro, and then all of a sudden working with Bethesda after Mara went into oblivion. Then he talks about building off of each one of those games and what we see with Starfield now. But yeah, Greg, if we were to go off of what we heard there at the end from Tim here when he teases all that stuff. Right?
A
Yeah.
D
Getting really ready to pack in the perfect game of the year. The completed.
A
They are ready to complete Starfield, to put it on the PlayStation 5 and put it on the switch and move on to Elder Scroll 6.
D
You see what we're doing? Here Greg is right.
A
We are making this. We can possibly be so you can move on and we can move on and every can play something else. I'm excited again, I love Starfield for all of its flaws. I'm not at all trying to say when I, you know, if you're new around here, when I say I love Starfield, I'm not saying it's a 10 out of 10 game, but I really enjoy it and I think the creators have been doing so much cool shit with it to see for that to be supported and continuing. Awesome. You know, I do think it's interesting to hear this comment from Tim right where he's. To me, Starfield is like making four games and I made a joke there, whatever. But I do think there's truth in that of like. And I think that's the problem with Starfield is that it is four games and none of them are nine out of ten. None of them are 9.5. All of those four games, depending on who you are, it might grab you. It might not buy like Outpost. I've never fucking touched Starship Builder. I've never fucking touched. I just want a Bethesda rpg. Which is why for all the problems people had with it, I still like the House of Arun DLC expansion we got for Shattered Space. Yup. Give me a new planet, give me new people, give me new enemies. What am I doing? What are the choices, Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
D
Yeah. I mean this is a team that has been built on over decades now and have added things to their games like you've seen with. Of course he brings it all the way back to oblivion. The first one tomorrow, wind of you're just a dude walking around and then you fighting some monsters. Then all of a sudden we added shooting and Fallout. Right. And then we added base building and Fallout 76. And we just kept building upon that to now here's Starfield, the amalgamation of all four of those titles that we've just jammed together to hopefully be good enough, but as you say, didn't quite land with everything being perfect. Greg.
A
Yeah. And so it'll be interesting to see what these additions are. What the changes are. Story DLC again is what spikes for me. Them talking about getting in there and changing space or making it better to fly in space or make it better to shoot in space. However he phrased it here. Okay. Space gameplay again, like, I think one of my least interesting things in Starfield, I love the emergent. I warp out, I come out, somebody hails Me, it's grandma. It's. People are attacking me. Like, that idea is cool. Then you get into the dog fighting in Starfield, which I think is so clunky and boring, like so poorly done of just like, well, this isn't even enjoyable, right? So if they can make that better, great. But it's still not what's going to pull me into it.
D
They tweak everything. They put it all together in one package. 2026, whatever year it is, it'll be 2026 on PlayStation 5. Sell big, no. Top 10 for the month.
A
Yeah, yeah, for the month, sure. Because I think, you know, well, I mean, you're all, well, this is GTA month or whatever, right? But you put a new game out, like you're going to get people. But like, I don't know, I'll be interested to see.
D
Yeah.
A
And here's the other thing we're talking with, is we're still talking with all the baggage of Starfield. What if the new DLC is amazing and it's the best DLC we've ever seen? What if this space thing makes everything better? And yada, maybe that is enough to make people go, okay, blah, blah. But Starfield has been the punching bag forever since launch because as you said, I. You were. I think people read it as a. I give you a hard time about it as a fanboy comment when it was the reality of, like you said, this need to be game of the generation for what they were doing here and what they spent on the studio and what Xbox reputation was. And it clearly wasn't. And it clearly never was going to be. It had that level of expectation on it. It fell under those conditions. And as somebody who has played the DLC plays the create the Verified creator updates, has done the quality of life updates, yada dada. They're not changing the bones of Starfield in a way that I know. We have new no Man Newman, no Man's Sky News coming up, right? I know we talk all the time about, hey, Fallout 76 really turned it around. Starfield's never going to have that story as is, especially as it seems like what we're. The signposting they're giving us, they're getting to, we're going to make space travel better. We're going to give you another dlc. There'll be a few quality of life things. There'll be cool creations. I don't think we're ever going to have that moment where somebody like, you know, if you, if you hated Starfield, if you were if you were let down by Starfield, I don't think you're going to have that moment of like, man, Starfield really came around. It had a cyberpunk moment. Starfield is Starfield because it's a Bethesda game. Starfield is Starfield. Bethesda's Bethesda. You know what you're getting. And again, I think they tried to lift a bit too much to satisfy everybody here rather than do what we've talked so much about. When we talk about Hollow Knight, when we talk about Claire Obscure, when we talk about all these games that resonate with people and audiences and fans. You're talking about a game that people came in and said, this is our vision. We have a vision for this game and we are going to scope it to this section and we are going to make a 10 out of 10. We're going to make. We're going to. We're going to crush on this and make our vision perfect. And I think Bethesda came in with we're making four games. And I don't think I even as a Fallout fan, I don't like base building. Like I'm not happy they put that into my Fallout game. So it's like to then go, all right, we're going to put in two other systems that are not the most, you know, they're kind of clunky, they're kind of like, I know so many audience members. Andy, who spent so much time in the shipbuilder. Right. Not me. I got my Razor Leaf. Great. I went through the Unity. I got this awesome ship. Great. I do not want to go create. So like for me personally, that's a system and time that was wasted on a game that I would have rather seen been written for dialogue, make camera angles better. Yeah. But again, it's still a Bethesda game which I fucking love. So of course I can see through it and go whatever. I get why so many people let down. I don't think Starfield ever has that moment. So to answer your question with a long winded Greg answer, by the time we get to the PlayStation 5 and apparently the rumor in the recent month switch two versions of Starfield, I think you have the looky loose who are like, all right, yeah, I've like Fallout before and I want to try it. But I think more than anything you have the baggage of this game that never lived up to the hype.
D
Okay.
A
Do you think I'm wrong?
D
No, I think I agree with you completely on everything you just said. There but yeah, just the new game, the Bethesda RPG that you didn't get is finally here. But it's been years past, it's tough to jump in. But we're seeing Xbox games sell so well there. But yeah, what's the whole year look like compared to a month? It'll get its pop for a month, you'll get its excitement for one to two months on the top 10 and then it will die off.
A
Yeah, yeah. I just don't see it setting the world on fire. And I think again it's you know, an RPG that again, what do you want out of a Bethesda game? Right. Oblivion remaster drops. And everyone's so happy with it because it's just I'm making the choices. I'm with this faction, I did this thing da da da da. And like that's in this game. But so is the three other systems we're talking about that aren't that great necessarily or what you want. And again we're talking about it in 30 minutes Outer Worlds 2 is about to be here. And Outer Worlds 2 I think is still on, on track to be a fucking kick ass open world space RPG where you are making choices and having great gunplay. And I think that's what a lot of people want out of these. Now of course that releasing October, does that hurt Starfield in March, January? No, but it's yet another game. We were Talking about the PlayStation audience of being like well this one, two years ago people didn't think lived up to expectations and now this one's being over here like what are we doing?
D
Interesting stuff there Greg. A lot. It will be interesting to see how they reform, repackage and put it all together at the end of the day and what players think about it.
A
We have a couple super chats about this. Thank you so much. Ed Reed Fan 20 super chats it says. Greg, have you seen the Star wars full conversion mod of Starfield? Really impressive stuff. Yes, I've seen all the Starfield stuff that mods and whatnot. Oh there's they. I mean there's the simple stuff of put the Mandalorian and do this kind of thing. But then there's ones that have like reskinned the game to be Star wars and do this kind of stuff. Awesome. Great for them. I like that a lot. Machine XP says Greg is Starfield similar to our beloved Batman v Superman. I love both but in a lot of ways can be seen as bad games and movies I guess. Like I think again, remember my Batman vs Superman is a good movie line comes from everyone when they were like this is as bad as Batman and Robin where I was like you're fucking crazy and don't remember Batman and Robin. Like this is not a great movie but it's not a bad movie like that. I I I still think Starfield is a good game. I think what I'm the last time we reviewed it I put an 8 on it. Like I still think I again obviously love Starfield and have gone through the unity a bunch of times and think about it and the DLC and that the other I'm to the point where I'm satiated with it where I'm not as drawn to go get it. But I did get a razor laptop yesterday and you bet your ass I downloaded Starfield again so it's ready that when I'm ready to go it's there. But I digress and the final one says Flying Penguins. Starfield is going to run at 5 frames per second on switch to probably.
D
Probably.
A

And we're back. Number three on the rope report return to Silent Hill's first cinematic trailer has completely divided the community. I can't believe it. Silent Hill fans divided. This is Vicki Blake over@ign.com the first cinematic teaser for the upcoming Silent Hill 2 adaptation. I said that weird adaptation Return Return to Silent Hill dropped yesterday, and once again the community is divided by what they've seen. While we've previously been treated to some BTS screenshots, this is the first time we've had a proper look at Christopher Ganz. Did I say that right? I think Ganz Second Silent Hill Movie the film's plot will feel familiar to anyone who played the original Silent Hill 2 or the 2024 Bloober remake. It follows James Jeremy Irvine, a man broken after being separated from his one true love, Hannah Emily Anderson. When a mysterious letter calls him back to Silent Hill to search for her, he finds a once recognizable town transformed by an unknown evil. Quote don't forget that it's an adaptation, suggests one fan on Reddit. First off, as someone who really likes the first Silent Hill movie, despite the obvious plot issues and departure of the game I think it's important to remember that Return to Silent Hill is an adaptation, not a direct copy. And really, who actually wants a one to one copy of the game? Well, some people want that carbon copy of the game, it seems. Quoting another user. I would love a good director to do a carbon copy of the game.
D
Yes, that's what they said. That's what they wrote.
A
Oh my God.
D
Everybody, we're split right down the middle.
A
Greg, we're watching the teaser. So why are people. Can I see it from the top? Bear? Sorry, I haven't. I have not had the chance to actually see the entire teaser. We're mad that it's not like it's. We're mad that it's not one to one. Can we just get a good movie? Was the first Silent Hill movie good? It could have been good. I never heard about it.
D
Little B Horror movie.
A
Yeah, exactly.
D
Scared me. That's for sure.
A
That's all you need. Just need a scary thing.
C
It just, it just doesn't like this.
D
Looks like Silent Hill to me.
A
It's got the nurses, right?
D
Yeah.
A
It's got the fog.
D
It's got the sign, he's there.
C
Doesn't look like good fog, but it's fog.
A
Okay. Jumps004, who I always trust for a movie review, says it's good. 6.5 out of 10. And there's pyramid Head. What are you talking about? What are you talking about? Fans.
D
Let's just get a good movie is what we should.
A
We just get a good.
D
That's the first thing we say. Can we just get a good movie? And then we can figure out the rest after that. Let's just nail that first. Does this do anything for you, the Silent Hill at all?
A
No, I'm just. It's not Silent Hill, as much as I love horror, has never been a game IP that's connected with me. And so then that movie trailer. Yeah, it doesn't look great, but it doesn't. It. I, I understand being bent out of shape looking at it because it doesn't look like the last of us. It doesn't look like quality wise, the Mario move, you know what I mean? Like video game adaptations have come so far, but with all due respect, I never expect a Konami one to be the one. Like they're crushing it. They're right on the money, you know, I mean for all the fucking movies I've seen, I'm never like, yeah, Konami, they're gonna figure this one out. They're gonna have the perfect ones for. I Would I can even tell you a Silent Hill movie had already come out. How long ago was the Silent Hill movie?
D
2006.
A
Okay, that's fair. I thought this is a recent thing they were making a sequel to.
D
Okay, yeah. I mean, as the newbie Silent Hill fan who got on with the Silent Hill remake and is excited for Silent Hill F, who has seen the movie way back in the day. Yeah. At this point in 2025, I'm just looking for good. So let's just try to nail good first before we pick a side on, you know, does this have to be great or not adaptation or.1 to 1 carbon copy on that one for me, Bear.
A
Can I watch the trailer for the original versus Island Hill 2006?
D
It's wild. The wild movie.
A
What is it? This girl has no mouth.
D
Yeah, it's a whole thing.
A
What the. And it was the same guy. Kristoff Gans. And now they're making another. He's coming back. Yeah. Huh? Huh? Okay. Is it the same actor, too? Was the actor in it before? Here's the trailer. Oh, that girl. Remember when she was in a lot of stuff? Yeah. Oh, wow. They didn't want to do the sign practical. Wow, wow, wow. Oh, hey. No. Yeah, Sean Bean was in this.
D
Yeah.
A
What was once an ordinary town.
C
I wonder what happens to him in this movie.
A
Has been transformed by evil. Girl, come here.
C
I got the. They had the. The Terminator.
A
What the. Oh, she's doing the. The video game run too. That was nice. See, they put the illusions to the game in here. Sean Bean was in this secrets without explanation. And this trailer keeps going.
D
Oh, it's gonna go.
C
It's like another minute.
A
Nothing. Nothing interesting's happening in it.
D
Yeah, we're gonna save the really scary parts for the very end.
C
Like every in, like the mid-2000s.
A
This thing's melting. They did do that too, didn't they? They did do that. Here you go. Here you go. Here you go. This spring. Man, they really did the video game run. Gotta give him credit for that. Yeah. Once you enter this world, there you go. Stay away from them. Stay away from them. There is no turning back. Did Sean Bean ever make it to Silent Hill, or did they film him on one day? And it's like you're in this office, you gotta yell on the phone. Then you gotta go talk to a cop out here.
C
Then you'll be killed silent.
A
Exactly. Right.
D
You know what?
A
Run.
D
The other trailer. They look the same.
A
Huh? Yeah, I forgot about that movie. I didn't remember that movie whatsoever.
C
The, the CG effects look better in this movie though than the modern one.
A
I'm more fascinated. So like 20 years later, the director's back. Yeah. Had he been gestating on this project.
D
Was going to bed every night thinking about it. How can I do those better?
A
That's just insane.
D
What could I have done?
A
Like, you know, why? I have so many questions, like what jump started it to do this? Why, why now?
C
Well, because Silent Hills back, you know.
D
Silent Hill is hot right now.
C
Silent Hill.
A
But it's definitely one of those things.
C
Of like Silent Hill friendship.
A
Wouldn't you have come? I don't know. I don't know. I got no answers for you on this one. Huh. I'm not mad about the trailer for Return to Silent Hill. I'm actually kind of impressed they're returning to Silent Hill 20 years later. That's. That's impressive. I can't believe they're doing it. Yeah. I'll only watch it if I have to do Silent Hill in review, I guess.
D
There you go. Yeah, you probably will. Tim will write that one down.
A
Yeah. He's always threatening video game movies in a review, but he never does it. It's like all the threats I give to Ben to make him behave. Like when I start getting out of line, that's what he want to do. Video game movies. I'll be good. I'll be good. I'll stop. Number four on the roper. Number four on the Roper report. I need more coffee. Nintendo Stars is the name of Nintendo's freshly resurrected division now dedicated to movies. This is Tom Phillips at ign. Nintendo has resurrected and rebranded a division that is now dedicated to developing films featuring the company's characters such as Mario and Zelda. Now titled Nintendo Stars, the subsidiary is tasked with, quote, implementing and licensing various ancillary uses in films, end quote of Nintendo and intellectual properties the company announced today in order to, quote, familiarize people around the world with Nintendo IP and provide new ways to experience and end quote. Nintendo Stars was previously known as Warp Star and was originally a joint vent. It was originally a joint venture between Nintendo and Kirby developer HAL Laboratory, the former home of Super Smash Brothers series boss Sakurai. Founded in 2001. Its initial purpose was to manage the Kirby franchise as it expanded beyond games into anime, beginning with the Kirby Right Back at you series that ran for 100 episodes. Now with the successful release of Super Mario Bros. Movie under its belt, Nintendo is keen to build on its big screen output. Nintendo brought out HAL Laboratories half of Nintendo Stars earlier. Oh, bought out their half earlier this year, making it a wholly owned subsidiary. And it looks to have bigger plans for the division going forward.
D
Of course. Yes.
A
Yeah, yeah, sure.
D
We're gonna see a lot of this. I think the more fun one for me, Greg, is, let's say 20 years from now. I know that's a long time. How many Nintendo products do we see tv movie wise?
A
I mean, a lot of hand. I mean, like what you figure what Mario is. Do you count Mario? Eventually in 20 years, you're gonna have a Mario show. There'll be another Mario show somewhere. Yeah, sure, but I'm just. Mario will be going. Zelda be going.
D
Yeah.
A
Kirby already is going. I guess. I guess. I don't know. Fucking. Somebody likes this guy. Pokemon, of course. Tossing on that. If you count them, but I'm counting them. Toss them in there. Okay. You want to say Metro. They're gonna try with Metroid. It won't work. It won't work.
D
For sure.
A
It won't work.
D
Star Fox. Do they try one?
A
No, no.
C
They could.
A
They could. They won't.
D
I think they gotta try Animal Crossing. Animal Crossing.
A
You have some island.
C
I feel like you. You get more juice with Star Fox than Animal Crossing.
A
No way.
C
How do you adapt to Animal Crossing into a story?
A
I mean, what. You know, what they would just do with Pokemon. Concierge do that shit. There you go.
D
Little town folks. Have fun adventures.
A
Make it dark in horror, you know? I mean, some kid washes up on the shore. Now you gotta pay off this goddamn tanooki. He's got you over a barrel. You want to get off this island, Pay me in bells. You paid off your bells and pay more. It becomes a legitimate depiction of capitalism. Yeah, exactly.
D
Right? Yeah. I mean, this just seems par for the course, right? We've seen great success. We've seen a lot of video games looking to get on the adaptation train over to movies and tv. And we're seeing a lot of good. We're seeing some bad. But right now there's a little more good than bad. So that's a positive.
A
Unless you're a Silent Hill fan. Yeah. So you see it turning to Silent Hill or Matt. They needed Silent Hill stars. That's what they needed. Somebody out there watching that, you know, Konami stars. Remember when there was going to be a Metal Gear movie? Jordan Vogt, Roberts Oscar Isaac, Remember that? They were like all gung ho on that. There was a lot of time. You can make your faces. That's how Hollywood works. But I mean, like, they had Oscar. He's talking about it. They're talking, they're doing things.
C
A lot of talking in Hollywood, you.
A
Know, a lot of talking in Hollywood.
C
This is the equivalent of vaporware of Hollywood.
D
A lot of wheeling and dealing in Hollywood. A lot of names, a lot of IPS being thrown around.
A
Sure, number five. Speaking of ips, Atari has acquired five Ubisoft games, including Child of Eden and Grow Home, and will re release and evolve them. This is Chris Sculling, the vgc. Atari has announced that it has acquired the IP rights to five previously released Ubisoft games. The publisher aims to re release the games on modern platforms and look at ways to expand each IP with new content. The five games that are now owned by Atari are. And the years they came out cold fear from 2005 child of Eden 2011 I am alive. Holy shit. From 2012. Bear, bring in my I am alive IGN review. Grow home from 2015. Grow up from 2016. According to a statement, Atari plans to, quote, re release these titles under their publishing label and explore opportunities to expand their reach through updated formats, new content and extended distribution channels. Atari CEO and chairman Wade Rosen said, quote, ubisoft and Atari both have a legacy of crafting worlds that players can fall in love with. Games that resonate with generations of players and I'm sorry not just for how they played, but how they made us feel. We're excited to reintroduce these titles while also exploring ways to expand and evolve these franchises. End quote. This is I Am Alive, the video review. Holy shit.
C
That's not real.
D
No, come on.
A
This is what we did. This is what we did. Here's the story about I Am Alive. Whatever.
D
Take me on a joke.
A
You're buying a bunch of weird ass IP. Great. I am alive is 2012. Remember, I start my career at IG in 2007. I am alive is, I would say the most jarring I had ever been with a review. And this is saying something because I gave Lair, you know, a 4.9 or 4.5 factor. 4.5, right? Yeah. That was a joke. Anyways. Most jarring I had ever been in terms of being outside of the consensus. And it's because I Am Alive. The review. I. What I. At the end, I give it like a 4 or something. I don't remember. What's the say? 4.5, 4.5. And it was. I'll never forget it, Mike. I was going into the muni tunnel as the embargo lifted and it went live. And I was like, all right, cool. It's Live. And we came out of the Muni tunnel. You know, Muni. It takes like 15 minutes, 20 minutes, depending on how bad traffic is or, you know, everything else. We came out and then I could open it up and look at other. And other people were giving it, like, an eight, like game. And I'm speaking out of school, but like, GameSpot, like, big sites, like, we're giving it, like, great scores. And I was this, like, super far outlier at the world's biggest website. And so the comments were all like, you know, the fuck you talking about? And I was like, yo, this game fucking sucks. I have no idea what people are. See, though, you can look at it right now. Granted, it's, you know what, 20 years later we're talking about it. But, like, no, that's all right. Ten years later we're talking about it. Yeah, but like, I remember being so bewildered that I was like, how am I this far out of the. What are these people seeing in this game that I am not seeing? Because this game sucks ass. Oh, and this game sucked ass. I urge you, Atari, re release this shit. Rerelease this dog shit. So everyone can say Greg was right about it.
D
Greg, that's an amazing story. It's wild to hear. Of course, everyone in the games industry has that moment where you're like, am I just lost or is everybody else wrong here?
A
They were fun one. They were definitely wrong.
D
Atari. I don't know about this. I look at this list. I had to look them all up.
A
Child of either a beloved game.
D
Okay, I saw that on my Xbox. 360 back in the day. Never played it. Grow home. Grow up. I guess you double down on Bud, the little mascot, you know what I mean? Would be my move. But Cold Fear and I am alive. I've never heard of these two games ever in my entire life. But I'll tell you what, I'll try Cold Fear. It looks pretty dope.
A
It's like, I don't. I don't know, man. Like, we don't understand. I shouldn't even say that. We understand the video game industry. We actually understand the video game industry. So when you see stuff like this happen, it's always so, like, scratch your head. We're coming back and we're naming our company thq. What? They went out of business. Nobody liked the usual tablet killed them. And then here it is. Like, I don't even know what. How does a conversation like this. Where does. Are we at Atari? And we're like, yo, we need games. We need more properties. We have the Atari library, but, like, people are over them. We want. So we should look at other classic games to bring back and do it. And then you're like, well, Ubisoft is on the ropes. Yeah, I. I hear the Gimal family's having a garage sale down there. Let's see what you pick up out of the dollar bill.
C
I wonder if it's the opposite. Like, less of Atari looking for shit from Ubisoft and Ubisoft, you know, like, you know, they. They need to pay legal funds and.
A
Figure out, like, they're knocking on people's doors.
C
Yeah.
A
And they're.
C
They, like, did like a 10 out of 10 pitch for all five of these games to be sold, you know, Like.
A
You know what this reminds me of, too? This is probably some kind of weird bundle deal.
D
See, that's what my mind went.
A
Yeah, we. We'd love to get Charlie beaten and grow home. Well, you gotta take. I'm alive and cold. All right, well, whatever.
D
I looked at it as. You buy these five games and when we go under. Under, you get first bid on the. Oh, yeah, you know, I'll give you first bit.
C
First rider refusal, doing anything to, you.
D
Know, stay afloat, you know, but Wild Greg, what. What is going on in this room? Who is nodding their head going, let's make a move on this. This is our. This is our moment. Yeah, that's crazy.
A
I don't know, man.
D
Make up your own stuff.
A
Alex J. Sandoval has the joke of. It's like, why would anyone bring back a claim? And it's like, yeah, we're. You know, Jeff is at the top of the show here again. Like, a claim's gonna be interesting and like, for the record, and I'm sure you've all picked up on it, you know, kayfabe break. Of course, Like, I hate Jeff and he hates me, but, like, I just like Jeff and hanging out and doing stupid stuff with Jeff. Like, this isn't a sponsorship thing or anything like that. Well, I'm not hosting the Acclaim. It's just Jeff's like, can I come fuck around? Like, yeah, come fuck around. So it's like for them to come back in September and they talk about, you know, OMG says Acclaim had some classic games. Like, yeah, so what are they doing with that on September 10th, is it. Here's what's old is new again and new versions reclaims. Here's the people we were publishing games of from. I'm always more excited if it was going to be, hey, we are. We're bringing back this old label that, you know, whatever we think there's juice in and what we're going to do with it is sure have. We're going to go to your biffles of the world, your mic biffles. We're going to go to other people, have them reinvent our old ip while also using the money we're making to publish new games.
D
I love that.
A
And again, let's do it the right way of hey, we're going to start small. You're going to get a bunch of indie quality indie games that are under our label that we're doing until we get enough money to make a double A game that we would want to meet. Like, let's just not rush out and try to make something happen. Whereas I am looking at you, Atari, and I am saying, are you motherfuckers trying to say, here's I am alive again. Pay for it. And then you're going to make an I am alive TV show. And then you're going to make an I am alive 2027. Nah, come on now. Come on now.
D
I had to look it up. Will we get the cool Iguana back? Can we get the acclaimed studios Igu Iguana from Iguana Entertainment?
A
Well, that was the. Yeah, I was gonna say that was when they were doing the Iguana Entertainment games. It wasn't always the acclaim.
D
I just remember seeing the Iguanas. Like, we gonna bring that guy back.
A
Too Here, I can call Jeff and you can ask. He won't. He won't. He won't talk. He won't be nice if he talks to me. Hold on. You got to make this thing.
D
Hey, Jeff, they got this cool iguana that's spinning a basketball on its finger. Can we bring that back for the present?
A
I'm gonna leave it all to you to explain.
D
Okay?
A
Why is he not popping up? There he is. Remind him immediately he's on the air. Remember how that works.
D
Hey, Double J. Double J. I told Slap Nuts to get lost. It's just you and I. Snowbike Mike, your boy. You're live on the air. How are you, Double J?
A
Good.
B
How we doing, guys?
D
You know what? I'm so good. I miss you all the time. I've been working on my strut. You know that, Jeff Jarrett, you taught me well. And I've been strutting all around the office. Okay, I got a question for you. We're really excited for the 10th big time return. A big time presentation, right?
B
Huge. Huge. It's Gonna be bigger than the day that I lay Greg's ass out in studios.
D
I still think about it. I. I can still feel the wind coming off of his forehead as the guitar smashed through his head. It was a special moment. So cool. So cool, Double J. I have a question for you, though. I don't know if you can te out or we can, you know, break some rules, but all I want to know is, Jeff, is there an iguana on. On September 10th when we get to this? Is there an iguana somewhere in this presentation?
B
Well, just between me and you and a couple of friends, there's several reptiles.
D
That will be revealed.
A
He got some news out of them.
D
Thanks, Double J. That's my man, right? You guys are the best. You're the best, Double J. Hey, good health. Keep kicking ass. Thanks for the love. We're gonna see you on the 10th. That's my guy. You got it, guys. You got it.
B
Look, Karen's in the background. Now she's getting mad at me. All of a sudden, she's taking Craig's side.
A
Karen, Karen, chew through your ropes. Get out of the house. You can still run for help. Call 91 1. What a nice man.
D
The iguana lives. Got him.
A
Well, several reptiles live. We don't know what we're getting.
D
Ridiculous.
A
Mike, several reptiles being part of a claimed showcase on September 10th is huge news. But if I wanted something smaller, say what? Came to the Mama Drop shops. Where do I go?
D
Let's get small. Let's take you to the. Our last story, the WE News Channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
A
WE News number six from ign. No Man's Sky Voyagers update ads, Corvette ship class multiplayer crew and tech that will be shared with hello Games's Light no Fire. Also, I saw. Yeah, yeah. I think the Corvette Ship class is like a giant starliner. I was looking at the PlayStation Pro for a moment. Roxy and Lucas Lee revealed as playable characters in Scott Pilgrim Ex.
D
Nice.
C
Stoked for this one. This is the same team that's doing Marvel Cosmic Invasion and did tmnt and it's like a spiritual successor to the other Scott Pilgrim game.
A
Yeah.
C
Fucking stoked.
A
This is an interesting one for me. Xbox Cloud Gaming is coming to Xbox Game Pass Core and Standard for insiders today.
D
Testing it out a little bit. I like that.
A
Yeah, let's get that to everybody. That's awesome. From vgc, the composer of Deus Mankind Divided soundtrack has released a collection of unused music from the game. That's cool. Cool. Wario64 says Square Enix confirms that Final Fantasy 7 Remake integrates Switch 2 runs at a stable. I'm sorry, at a quote. Stable. 30 frames per second, offering smooth performance and crisp visuals.
D
Let's get it. Believe it when I see it.
A
Yeah, exactly. Exactly.
D
One of those.
A
The PlayStation plus essential games for September 2025 have been announced. There's Psychonauts 2. I thought Barrett would pop for that one. Stardew Valley and Viewfinder. An Infinity. Nikki Cross. Stardew Valley collaboration has been announced. And then train Sim World 6 launches September 30th on Xbox One Series. Xbox One Series X, PlayStation 4, 5 and PC. You ever get in the train sim world, Mike?
D
No. But we're definitely getting down with that truck sim. Can't wait the long road.
A
I gotta figure out the overall plot.
D
Of the corporate entities that's doing it deep into that.
A
Let us jump to the one, the only Super Super Chats where of course you can write in to be part of the show. We start with Kebabs who says loving the Starfield ship update to no Man's sky again. That's what I was talking about. These big ass ships. Alex G3B says Greg and Mike the Poke Bros. We do here.
D
That's us.
A
Yep. Who's your favorite Pokemon?
D
My favorite Pokemon right now is Wingull.
A
Oh, okay.
D
Seagull. Yeah. He's just kind of my dude right now in this place.
A
Sure, sure.
D
I'm really. I'm running with him.
A
Is he a Pokemon that you like fell in love with? He came to help you. That's with me and Altaria. Altaria? Altaria from the game where I need. I needed whatever flying or type and he came in. Yeah. Yeah.
D
That's how life goes. That's how it goes.
A
JB super chats and says Greg, have you tried the Luminesce demo? Demo? It's such a vibe. He didn't. He. I'm. I'm not mad at you. I'm mad at me not being able pronounce anything today. I did not. The demo is out obviously for the new Luminous game. I highly recommend you all do it. I had done the demo right before Gamescom and talked about on one of the shows real briefly. So I am just ready for the full release. November. Right.
D
Can we talk about this really quick?
A
Sure.
D
87 above 90.
A
Oh for luminous.
D
Yeah. I need to know like it's a big deal. Greg.
A
Did anybody pick it up? Did you pick it up?
D
I don't think anyone's picked it up. I Think it's open.
C
Blessing has that.
A
That's a really good pickup. I feel my team and kind of was like forgot all about.
D
Yeah, I'm still playing the game.
A
Yeah.
D
And I'm playing it. Okay. I got one spot open. I'm looking to secure the bag. I need 87 or above.
A
I think you get 87 or above on that. For sure.
D
You would get it on that. Damn it.
A
That was a great pickup. I was good for.
D
Bless. Good for.
A
Good for him. Good for him. I like that a lot.
D
Still playing the game, y'. All.
A
Zeke speak super chats and says yesterday's interview with Erica was fire. Would love to see y' all collab more with gamer dropout regulars like Iffy Erica, bdg Brennan for a kind of funny slash dropout gaming stream that would do numbers. It's a great idea. We're always open to that. Zeke speak. I know nothing about dropout, but I like them from who I know, which is a few of them.
D
Oh, you might like Game Changers. I fell in love with Game Changers.
A
Okay.
D
Blessing put me on. I gave.
A
I was a butterfinger game changer. Remember when they gave us those things?
D
You were.
A
Yeah.
D
God, that was awesome.
A
Yeah.
D
More candy, please.
A
Langley in the chat still bent out of shape. Of course. And that's hard for him to be on a shape because he's so goddamn big. He's always bent out of shape when he' hiding in the kids closet. Should defy. It was great. Mine is Greg skipping my super chat. Langley. We had already done enough references and this was. That was a reference too deep in the bag for me to be able to help you with.
D
Too deep.
A
It was one of those you're combining kind of funny references I don't think Erica's going to get. And you're combining references from worlds beyond that I don't know the general audience is going to get. And they weren't direct enough like the other ones. So Langley, that's on you. All right. Go terrify a child. Leave me alone. The Portland Kevin super chats. It says kind of funny meetup at PAX west in Seattle. Saturday, August 30, 3pm at Elephant & Castle. If you're at PAX, come meet some fellow kind of funny best friends and say hi.
D
Yesterday, during the kind of funny hangout, Portland Kevin came in.
A
Yeah.
D
Blessing busy, but got Andy interested. He's a little busy during that time. He might show up late. You never know. You never know. If you see him, though, remind Andy that he has to Buy me merch.
A
Fair enough. What's he trying to buy you?
D
Not just anything I told him.
A
Okay, that's a good way to do it because you know, when you request something specific, they buy something else.
D
Exactly.
A
Yeah.
D
Well, we learned the hard ways.
A
Kebab super chats. This is. What do we want for a follow up to Claire? Obscure Kebab says in N64, Jackson Pollock themed expedition game. I like that. Morris chatted with a super chat, but no message. Thank you so much for your support. Alex Frazier super chats and says theories, theory. Spoilers for bad movies. The OG Silent Hill movie was terrible because it's the only Sean Bean movie I'll ever see I've ever seen where he doesn't die. So there you go. Oh, Danny in the middle super chats and says, off topic, but I had an itch to play the Evil within, only to find out that it was delisted from the PlayStation Store about a year ago. Sup with that? Well, that was a Tango gameworks game. Right? So I bet when they got sold and then closed and all that jazz and then who just bought them or whatever. Or they craft in craft and they buy them. Or they just buy the rights to what's Its Face? Yeah, I can't remember.
D
No, I thought they got Tangled Game.
A
Okay, then it's probably somewhere tied up in that kind of license licensing thing. It'll be back probably at $80 in some kind of bundle.
C
The Evil within and Ghostwire Tokyo writes remained at Microsoft.
A
There you go. Oh, yeah. Then who knows? Maybe they're. I don't know. We'll figure it out. We won't, actually. You will. Calvin Perez says, I wrote a detective noir based on Animal Crossing as a bit detective Tom Nook investigating missing children and a dream invader named Isabel. Whoa, sounds cool. People are creating. Yeah. DJ Kinto says, greg, where is the Meg? Why isn't it in every shot? If we want to go to the far away shot over there, you can see the Meg is on and lit. Always ready, always waiting. Yeah, I like bringing the Meg on to interrupt other people's shows. Okay, so I'm bringing it down. And then when Kevin got the lights working and plugged in, I was like, it looks so good lit up. I kind of just like it's in there.
D
I just will remind you, you're the king of Halloween.
A
Thank you very much. I appreciate that. That's why Home Depot sent that to us. DJ Kento then came back with another super Chat. Do you all remember that modular retro Console, the Polymega. Atari has partnered with them and they're doing great work in retrogramming and preservation. I don't remember the Poly Mega at all. And that's good to hear. I appreciate that. And then Anel Werpel says, hi, how can I take part in the Game Showdown questions? If you follow Kind of Funny on the social media platforms they usually put up a hey, here's a new thing for Game showdown. Come and do the survey. And then you can answer the survey and usually answer questions incorrectly that then screw me over in the end. And everybody, those are all your super chats. Of course, if you are watching live on YouTube.com kindafunnygames, Twitch TV, kind of funny games, podcast services around the globe, you have a special job of keeping us honest by going to Kind of funny dot com. You're wrong to tell us what we screwed up from when we screwed it up so we can go through and try to fix this. Dakin's back to say it's been 12 days now. The games cast from August 15th. Still isn't posted on Patreon.
D
No, this is all from yesterday, Greg. I read through this. I. I'm not seeing anything updated. This is all yesterday.
A
A perfect game. A perfect game for Mike and Greg. You love to see it. You love to have it. That's it, everybody. Another Kind of Funny Games Daily is done. I'm sorry you had to listen to Jeff Jarrett twice. Of course from here we go to the kind of funny Gamescast talk about the new Kirby game for Switch 2 and of course to talk about the Outer Worlds 2 and our hands on impressions. After that is some streaming of Rainbow six. And then after that, everybody take a nap.
D
Okay?
A
You know what I mean? Go back and watch the Mario Party Stream. What a great stream.
D
You're not taking afternoon naps, right?
A
I have so much to play. Yeah, so much to play.
D
No afternoon last night.
A
I was so tired. He was. Jen's like, all right, time for bed. I'm like, I gotta play. I'm like, I'll like, I'll lay next year playing the Portal, which is always dangerous because I don't get as much time. You start getting tired when you're laying down or feet up. Kick back. Any alien Earth? No. Why? Episode one, I liked it a lot. But come on now. I gotta. I gotta. I gotta go home, watch fucking pray tonight. Great movie, but I've seen it. But I gotta recap it because Nick's gone. Like, you know what I mean?
D
Yeah, Nick's gone. You got a lot going on. You got a lot on your shoulders. I do what it's like to be the number one in the company.
A

In this raucous and news-packed episode, the Kinda Funny crew (Greg Miller, SnowBikeMike, and Barrett) break down the latest in gaming news, braving impromptu wrestling invasions, community debates, and a packed news day with stories on the future of Clair Obscur, Bethesda’s Starfield, the divisive Return to Silent Hill trailer, Nintendo’s expansion into movies, Atari’s retro IP purchases, and a rapid-fire rundown of quick gaming headlines. There’s much humor, wrestling promos, and in-depth discussion typical of the Kinda Funny Games Daily tone.
"I'd like to remind you who you're dealing with, all right? I'm a game award winner. ... I'm your current reigning and sexiest world champion. Have you ever seen a real title, Jeff?" (01:05 – Greg)
“All eyes are on Skate... That’s where I want to be.” (05:23 – Mike)
“How much money are you giving them?”
“A hundred dollars. Off the rip, Greg.” (07:35 – Greg & Mike)
Mike talks about needing to spend early to compete, owning the “My Park” grind.
“This is a big deal, to be able to say…hey, we’re going to build a franchise off this."
“Three years? You’re crazy. Kobe says five to seven. I agree.” (18:05 – Greg)
"I would never have thought that Clair Obscur was an IP brand you want to go [with]... It’s maybe like Final Fantasy where we’re using the moniker but they're not necessarily linked." (13:39 – Greg)
"Starfield is like making four games, and none of them are nine out of ten... none are 9.5." (24:03 – Greg)
"If you hated Starfield... you’re not going to have that ‘man, Starfield really came around’ moment." (28:38 – Greg)
"We’re making four games and... even as a Fallout fan, I don’t like base-building... for me personally, that’s a system and time wasted I’d rather have seen on making camera angles better, or dialogue." (27:48 – Greg)
“Can we just get a good movie?... Was the first Silent Hill movie good?” (37:07)
"The CG effects look better in this [2006] movie than the modern one." (41:18)
"Some kid washes up on the shore, now you gotta pay off this goddamn tanooki..." (44:47)
"I was so bewildered... this game sucks ass. I urge you, Atari, re-release this shit. So everyone can say Greg was right about it." (48:57)
A rapid-fire rundown of smaller news:
