Today's stories include there's a chance we see Insomniac's Wolverine this month. Hollow Knight Silksong crashed all of the digital storefronts this morning and we're revealing four Spider Man Magic the Gathering cards exclusively here at Kind of Funny. We'll have all this and more because this is Kinda Funny Games Daily. What's up and welcome to Kinda Funny Games daily for Thursday, September 4, 2025. I'm your host, Tim Gettys. The jokes on me, everybody. I'm joined today by the master of hype, Snow Bike Mike.
B
What up, Doe? Tim, as you heard, Roger outside currently laughing, cackling. Yeah, you know what, Tim, I will say you're a man of your word. You stuck to it and you have dressed up for the bay and you look good.
A
I honor predictions. Episode of the Gamescom Opening Night Live with all that Jeff Keighley was teasing about Hollow Knights and him, you know, putting on the clown nose, signaling the Hollow Knight clown meme. I said that I was so sure that Hollow Knight Silk songs release date was going to be announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live. And if it wasn't that, it wouldn't be until the next Nintendo Direct. And Jeff really, really screwed me over by opening that show saying, hey, in a couple days you're gonna want to tune in because Hollow Head Silk songs doing something. And what they do, announce the release date. So guess what? That release date is today. So I'm a man of my word. I am honoring the bets and Andy Cortez right now playing the game he's been playing since 7am that's not entirely accurate though, because of one of the stories we're going to talk about. But he is still playing right now. He's over on Twitch. We are on YouTube doing this show. Andy will be streaming all day long. All night long.
B
Yeah.
A
Full marathon stream. He might beat the entire game in one sitting. He probably won.
B
Nine hours left on this marathon stream and it's only adding you are a man of your word wearing your outfit. Of course. Andy is celebrating Hollow Knight Silk song today over on Twitch exclusively having a big subathon marathon stream. It is going very well. The excitement is. You can feel it in the building. Everybody's pumped up to watch Andy play this game. The audience is there and of course we're doing it live here on YouTube so encourage all of our audience and the best friends out there. If you're watching right now live or if you watch after or listen after, go back over to Twitch, drop a Sub add some time onto Andy's timer, hang out, celebrate the big release and have some fun with us.
A
Yeah, what a release it's been. I'm sure we're going to talk a lot about it, Mike, but like, God, there's an energy today. I love it. This is one of those special video game days. You know, we live for moments like these.
B
Oh my gosh.
A
Especially it being a indie game. Like it's so wild that an indie game has so much hype and attention for it. Getting this kind of worldwide release in the sense of all gamers are playing it at the exact same time. Right. We never get this. This is like such a rare moment in time where it's not like, oh, the media gets it earlier. Like there's this early access. It's like, no, man. You can buy the game now. Go play it adventure together.
B
You know, we've had a couple of really good moments. When you think about the past couple of years, Tim, there's been some great gamer moments of the community coming and rallying behind a great game. And today we're. We get to do that with Hollow Knight Silk Song. I think of hell divers taking over the world a couple years ago and how much fun that was. Just that fervor around the world and seeing tiktoks of girlfriends and their guys just so much fun. What a blast.
A
Amazing stuff. But hey, we're going to talk about all of that and more because this is kind of Funny Games Daily and I had to have Kevin cut off my fingertip so that my trackpad could work. It's important work that we do here at Kind of Funny. Welcome to Kind of Funny Games daily for Thursday, September 4, 2024. 5. There's a lot of housekeeping and before we get to it, I want to reveal some magic cards. You ready for that, Mike? You're Mr. Magic yourself.
B
Yes. Blessing is very upset that he's not in office today because I get to fill in for him and talk all things magic with you. And we got a. A really cool set coming out here in September. Magic is bringing out another big one. Spidey's here.
A
Spidey, man, that's so cool.
B
So cool.
A
So look, here's the thing. Obviously I'm the clown, you're the magician. Do they call magic players magicians? Can we start that if someone has it already?
B
No, but we could try. Let's see.
A
You know what I mean?
B
I don't think they're vibing on that.
A
But we'll go for it. So remember the magic. The gathering obsession in this office started with us revealing Ghostbusters magic of the Gathering cards, which followed up with Final Fantasy cards. Today, our friends at Magic Gathering are putting out their newest set, Marvel's spider man, on September 26th. And they sent us four cards to reveal the. Let's take a look. First off, we have Urban Retreat. All right. I mean, nice. Thank you.
B
So the fun part about this reveal. Well, you and I will be mainly talking about the art and the collab with Spidey. We'll jump into the card itself. But I think for our audience, for you, it's really about, like, whoa. Bringing Spider man to life through magic, looking at the art that they have and how the art and the. The story and the world combined with the magic card. But, Tim, I mean, that's an iconic shot.
A
Oh, it's great. I mean, yeah. What a story being told. I love the little blurb here. For Peter, apartment hunting was about location, location, cost and location.
B
Oh, that's good.
A
Nailing the vibes. They understand Spider man, baby. Let's get to the next one. Quite the turn into the death of Gwen Stacy. Wow. That's how you're gonna show it. I kind of love it. I don't like the magic cards with too much text. I get that. That's how you have to play the game.
B
Yes.
A
I get that. That's the point. But, like, look at that art. It's beautiful.
B
Yeah. That's a saga right there. And I think it goes really well with how the saga is designed, with the side of the card being the detailed story of what. What this card does, but with Gwen Stacy in particular. Right. Having that fall, having that look. I think that looks really dope.
A
Really good stuff. I love how she's stylized. That's very cool. Next up, we have Superior Foes of Spider man, which is a fun one. This is a comic series that I actually really enjoyed myself back in the day. This is a really good. Right after the. The Spider Verse comics were happening in, like, early 2013 14, I want to say. And there was the Superior Spider Man. Excellent story.
B
Okay.
A
That. The idea of it is Doc Ock was dying, and in his dying breaths, he transferred consciousness with Peter Parker. So for, like, a whole year, Doc Ock was Spider Man. Okay. Superior Spider Man. And then the superior foes kind of started around that same time. And great stuff. Love this art. Very, very cool.
B
Yeah. I mean, the exciting part about Spider man, for me, Tim, is the villains, and I'm loving the idea of, like, what magic Card villains will I see? What will I rally behind? What will I love? And yeah, anytime I get in the world of Spider man and those villains always makes me smile.
A
Yeah. And I love the. The writing here. Boomerang managed to assemble a squad that really wasn't all that sinister and certainly wasn't all that six good for them. And then the final one for the exclusive reveals here. Sun Spider, a nimble Weber breaking expectations and enjoying it. I am unfamiliar with Sunspider.
B
I was gonna say, Tim, this is when you would have to fill me in on if you knew, but no, I don't know. Sunspider. That's the fun part of knowing you and Chris Anka and now having the spider verse, you start to be, you know, welcomed and get the knowledge of, oh, there are a bunch of other spiders out there that I never have heard of in my life.
A
Yeah, cool.
B
There's a spider cat. You know that?
A
Oh, yeah. Know he's in the movie. Didn't know that he's in the movie.
B
Oh, the cute cat. Oh, shucks.
A
Did Chris design the cat? I don't know if he designed the cat.
B
Okay, good call.
A
Yeah. Can you text him right now?
B
I'll ask.
A
Text you design that?
B
I have my phone.
A
Okay.
B
It's fine.
A
It's fine. This is kind of. Oh, that's it.
B
Yeah. Just some fun ones for you, me and bless. We'll have more coverage on this, I'm sure. We'll play and we'll dive deeper into the cards if you want to know all about what they do and the fun new stuff that they're adding to the game. But yeah, for me and Tim, we wanted to show you the look. We wanted to show you what cool stuff is coming your way. September 26th.
A
I love that. Shout out to your relative magicians.
B
Shout out to the magicians out there.
A
By the way, everybody, tonight I am going to Davies Symphony hall in San Francisco to see a symphony orchestra perform. I just want to let you know that, like, this is how my day is starting and that's how my day is ending.
B
Yeah, you can go both ways. He can do anything.
A
Am I going to wear this?
B
Exactly.
A
We'll see. Probably not. Also, one size fits all, fit all. You know what I mean? It fits some, does not fit all. This is kind of funny. Games daily. Each and every weekday, we run you through the video game news you need to know about live on YouTube, Twitch and podcast services around this darn globe. If you love what we do, support us with the kind of funny membership on Patreon, YouTube and now Spotify and Apple podcast to get all of our shows ad free. And you get to watch those. You get a daily exclusive show for a chance to be part of the show. Submit your thoughts and super chats as we go. We already got a couple in here. I see. Wiener says $5 as a token of appreciation for being a man of your word. I appreciate that. Of course. Bander senses weird not seeing Tim with blonde hair. I hate you. Okay? I hate you. I hope that this is in your nightmares. Rafael Garcia says, I'm horrified of clowns and I don't know what to do with this episode. I'm so sorry. I had to do it. I had no options.
B
Yeah, you got it. You got to watch this one.
A
And I did my own makeup, everybody. You know, people were asking, who's going to do it? Is it going to be Joey? Is it going to be Greg? Both of them bailed on me, so I had to do it myself.
B
Yeah, I was hoping that Gia did it and you had to drive to work.
A
Like, yeah, that would have been pretty good.
B
That was my really big hope right there.
A
Melodic quest says clown Tim versus Joker Greg. I do not want that smoke. You know what I mean? I might have the look down right now, but Greg has the mental down in a way that I don't ever want to get close to. Ken G says this is a super chat for Tim. And that's it for now. That's it for now. Let's get into the housekeeping. We're an 11 person business. All about live talk shows today. There's only Silk song, baby. Why? Why are we trying to get in the way of the song since it's finally out? Andy is playing it for as long as you want him to right now on Twitch. And he's playing it for the first time. The more you support, the longer stream. Will he go till midnight? 24 hours? A thousand hours? I don't know. It's up to y'. All. Let us know how how you feel on Twitch tv. Slash kind of funny games if you're a kind of funny member. Today's Greg Way is all about the hunt for Greg's next white whale. But it'll be late because Greg's taking care of a sick Ben. Speaking of Ben and speaking of Andy Stream, Ben was watching Andy Stream this morning and he sent him an inspiring message. Kevin, can we play this? What? He not even play it. He did it. He beat him. You say congratulations.
B
Congratulations to you, Andy.
A
Tell them how good he is.
B
You're just so good at this one.
A
I can't even believe my eyes. The cutest kid.
B
Yeah.
A
On the goddamn planet. Say that Andy's so to. Andy is so good, he can't believe his eyes.
B
He's just like me. Because every time I watch Andy, I'm like, he's not actually playing that. And then I go, oh, wait, he's just that good.
A
He's just that good. Everybody. Thank you to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney the Psalm Twining Today. We're brought to you by Exrael, but we'll talk about that later. Let's get into it. The Rope Report I'm all. I'm all messed up, man.
B
You're doing great, Tim.
A
I think you're tired out there. We have six stories today. A baker's dozen.
B
That feels like a fry.
A
Oh God, you're right. That's crazy. Yeah, that's crazy for me. Story number one we're seeing Wolverine next month. Question mark. This comes from Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming Super Chat. Do you believe it? What are your hype levels for Wolverine? What would you want to see more of at a PlayStation State of Play? Let us know Insider Gaming sources have revealed that Insomniac Games Wolverine's ready to be shown off for the first time officially since the 2021 PlayStation showcase. According to sources who wish to remain anonymous as they couldn't talk about company plans, PlayStation is currently planning its next State of Play event towards the end of September. Other sources revealed that Insomniac Games Wolverine is almost certainly going to be at the event as the production of its next trailer has now been completed. If the game doesn't appear at State of Play, then the trailer will undoubtedly be released in the next few months, with the game wards being the next likely candidate. Insomniac Games Wolverine faced some issues in development following a ransomware attack in December 2023, during which employee information and a substantial amount of game footage leaked online. The hack resulted in some changes to the game's plans, but the extent of those changes is currently unknown at the time of writing. Neither PlayStation nor Insomniac Games has revealed when Wolverine is set to be released, but fingers crossed, an answer awaits us in the coming weeks. The game is currently slated to release exclusively on the PlayStation 5. As for what else the next Day to Play event could feature, remains to be seen, but it' likely to feature Bungie's upcoming Marathon, a new Metroidvania God of war. Insider Gaming has it on good authority A mainline title is also in the works. Phantom Blade Zero and possibly even Naughty Dog's Intergalactic the Heretic Prophet. If the state of plays at the end of September as intended, then we'll likely see a deeper dive into Ghost of Yote 2, which releases on October 2, 2025. What do you think, Mike?
B
Tim, I want to believe. Tim, I want to get extremely hype for the idea of us getting to see Wolverine at the end of the month. Yeah, that's all I can think about. That gets me so pumped up because I want to see more. I want to see everything about this game, Tim. I want the cinematics, I want the story, I want the gameplay, I want to see the size and scope. I'm coming off of Spider man, which is just so good. And you know, Spider man, you can close your eyes and imagine what that game is. Wolverine, you can close your eyes and imagine a lot of different routes. And I don't know which route they'll take, especially coming off of a giant open world with Spider Man. So it's like, I don't think we're doing that with Wolverine unless he's riding a sick motorcycle around town, hopping off and just punching people, you know? So I don't think they'll do that. So it's like, yeah, I just want to see this become reality. Right? We saw that awesome little teaser trailer a long time ago. We've seen things out there, but like, there's no, hey, this is official, this is real and that's where I want to be.
A
Yeah, dude. Exciting times. Obviously. Could not be more excited for any insomniac project. Like, they have proven to be one of my favorite developers, developers, Hard stop of all time. And anytime they put out a project, I am going to want to platinum it. Like they. I want to do everything that that game has to offer. And they've proven that for the last four titles or so for me and Wolverine. Wow. Like, what a unbelievable dream after the Spider man games. Like, like you're saying Spider man insomniac, what a dream combination there, right? Wolverine, a little harder to potentially imagine, but you trust them because they did such a damn good job. So I can't wait to see what exactly it is. Will it be at the state of play? Will there be a state of play in September? All that adds up, right? I have no reason to doubt any of that information. Just thinking about where PlayStation is at, where the different studios are at, when the last time we saw this game was like a state of play in September. Sounds right. And if there is one, we're at that point now. Everybody be clear. Hollow Knight is out. What are we going to ask every time a showcase comes up, if it's going to be there? It's Wolverine.
B
Wolverine. Yeah.
A
Yeah.
B
I mean, there's one of the big questions left out there. Right. And so that's the fun one, you know, about ghosts coming out right around the corner. We're all excited for that one. You talk about the Heretic Profit, which is a Naughty Dog one. That's going to be cool. Right? But what is after that? And it is Wolverine is the next big one. Soros, of course we have. That's gonna be question marks for 2026. Yeah, very excited about that. So, yeah, they kind of have to start showing the lineup of what is Next for your PlayStation. But this, when we talk about Wolverine, that is a huge PlayStation 5 title. This will be one of those kind of generations defining. Oh, yeah, this is the one you remember. And I'm really excited about that. If we stick for Wolverine a little bit longer. X Men, more of a Logan, just Logan off on his own type of style. I can't wait to see.
A
Yeah, no, it is really.
B
That's the fun stuff too.
A
And that's the thing too is they already have a Marvel universe being built with the Spider man, right to the three Spider man games that we got and the hints of a broader Marvel universe around that. So we'll see how far they take all that stuff. But you bring it up. The Heretic Profit, Intergalactic, that's another one where I feel like we're not going to see that. Like them talking about it here at Insider gaming of like, this data play is likely to feature Marathon, Metroidvania, God of War, Fantasy Blade Zero and Intergalactic. It's like, that sounds crazy to me, you know, like that's like. Like that's too banger. But also that reminds me of how the. The last event that the Wolverine was announced at. That's how that felt. They announced Spider Man 2 and Wolverine in the same goddamn show. Mike.
B
That was crazy. That was crazy.
A
And it wasn't just those. There was like almost every studio had something dope to drop.
B
So yeah, let's swing over to that really quick because, yeah, you're right. Right. You think about Naughty Dog and what they would they show. Where is that? Does that become the next Wolverine? Where we see Wolverine now and then, we just constantly are asking, hey, where's Naughty Dog? When is that coming back out? It would be pretty Wild to see that here with a. What is it? Metroidvania? God of War. That would be wild too. There's a lot of titles that I'm excited for, especially from Sony.
A
Yeah, man. And that's the thing is like, it's been a little bit dry in terms of the quantity of the quality PlayStation Studios releases the last couple years we've gotten some bangers. I'm definitely on the side of like I am incredibly happy with my PlayStation 5 and the output that's happened there. But undeniably, factually you look at it and it's like, well, it's not as holy shit as the first couple, the last couple of years. The PS4 and first couple of years of PS5 were. Now we're kind of like lucky if we get that one big title a year. We're getting a bunch of small stuff. We got a game of the year in the form of Astro Bot last year.
B
Right.
A
Like we're getting bangers. But the idea of the follow up projects from Naughty Dog, Insomniac and Housemark after Housemark has leveled up with Returnal. Right. Like that is a huge step up for that studio in the same way we saw Horizon be the step up for Gorilla. Right. So Soros, I think has a lot more eyes on it and higher expectations and I think that they're going to deliver. So yeah, we're gonna have to start hearing about these games soon. This God of War game, I love that we're talking about a game as if it's real. It's not official yet, but it excites me, you know. And then also here saying that they have it on good authority there's also a mainline God of War in the works. Like seems a little early to, to hear about that. But again, you've got to hear about it sometime. Right? Like, so September might be it. I'm not fully convinced, but okay, yeah.
B
Let'S, let's talk about that.
A
Yeah.
B
Where, where do you really think that is? What's, what's your 1 out of 10 this is going to happen? 10. This isn't probably going to happen.
A
1. Just saying this without looking into it. I feel like PlayStation likes to do events in September.
B
Okay.
A
They did. We did just yesterday react to a state of play for James Bond. First Light. Is that what it's called? But that to me was very different. That's clearly a marketing agreement. That's clearly a collaboration with IO like focusing on just that one game. I don't think that that gets in the way of them doing another state of play this month at all. So I do think that it is entirely possible that it happens. And I also feel like the big game announcements kind of come in waves. And I think PlayStation and Nintendo specifically have for a while been kind of lined up in terms of their big beats of announcements and their big directs and their big showcases. And I think that clearly we are due for a big PlayStation showcase and a big Nintendo showcase. Right. And I think that September is more than appropriate time for both of those things. Lots of rumors about a direct next week. I'm leaning to believe it. Right. Like why wouldn't I? Especially with it being Mario's 40th anniversary. So there's that. And then on the PlayStation side again, we just. We need to know what's coming next. Like for both the Switch 2 and PlayStation from their first party sides. We don't know what 2026 looks like. And that's kind of insane when you look at Xbox, it's like, we got it. We got a fucking roadmap that's never ending. Right. And that's. It's different at this point. But like, I feel like we don't need, we don't have open questions for Xbox that are like, fuck, we need to have these answered. There are so many questions for Nintendo and Sony.
B
Okay, I like the console. Prices are going up. You'd like to instill some confidence in the audience out there to encourage them to jump to that next console if they haven't already. And yes, show me the goods. So you want me to get me up there is right.
A
Let's see if we got any super chats about this. It's so hard to navigate my computer with these stupid ass gloves, Kevin. I might, I might need another clip. Get the scissors for the middle finger. There. Didn't realize how necessary the two finger flick was. You know, Mike, that the old maneuver, the two finger flick. Yang fam says I can't take anything. Oh God, I can't even see this. What a disaster. I can't take anything the clown is saying. Seriously, even if I didn't have this on, you still shouldn't take any.
B
Usually it's me. That's nice. You know, usually they say that about me.
A
All right, let's see. Thank you very much, Kevin. Oh, so much better.
B
That's better.
A
So much better There. Street Shadow says September is also the 30th anniversary of the US launch of the PlayStation 1 last year with the Japanese release. Not saying this matters to the state of play stuff. Yeah, if I remember correctly. I don't think Sony really celebrates the American anniversaries as much. You're wrong me if I'm wrong about that. But that is an interesting poll there nonetheless. Let's move on though, to story number Dose. Where we at with that? It is Silk Song. Baby, you need some help? Almost.
B
Almost.
A
There we go. I apologize. It's been a nightmare to try and download Silk Song today. This comes from Ethan Gatch at Kotaku. After eight long years, Hollow Knight Silk Songs finally arrived. There's just one very small problem. The biggest game release of 2025 is causing all sorts of issues for the Nintendo Switch 2, eShop and Steam store pages. Fans are racing to download the highly anticipated Metroidvania sequel, and they're stuck looking at error screens instead. I've been trying to download the game on my Switch 2 and I keep getting kicked out of the eShop. On my most recent attempt, I was finally able to load the actual silksong Store listing and hear the music from the autoplaying trailer. Nothing else on the page actually populated. After about 20 seconds, the store crashed on me again and kicked me back out to the main Switch to menu. There's no word yet on whether this is just a momentary issue caused by the sudden surge in traffic, or something else is going on with silksong's launch that could delay it further from its original planned 10am Eastern debut. Some players do appear to be having success getting the game downloaded, at least on Steam. It's also available through Game Pass for free for paying members. The game's arrival has been unique among modern releases, with no advanced code provided to reviewers and everyone getting the chance to jump into the game and play it at the same time. Or at least whenever the eShop, Steam and other store pages start working again.
B
Wild Mike I'm happily surprised at this one. Tim. Yeah, you know we talked about it and it. It is like it's this weird give and pull for me of like there is so much excitement. There's always, hey, this has to be shown. I'm dying to see silksong. I'm excited about this, but it's been some time, right? And it's an indie team and sometimes you're like, I don't know if that indie game has this stuff like we're talking about it. And then I'm happily blown away this morning to see just mayhem for everyone rushing to their console at 7am to celebrate this release, to jump on a play and to see servers crashing just for us to buy the game and jump in. That's awesome.
A
I mean it's insane. Blown away because this is not Grand Theft Auto 6. This is not. I mean I can't even come up with another example right. Like this is a indie Metroidvania. Holy shit, man. Crashing every storefront. Like that's absolutely wild that there's that much interest at. Again, 10am Eastern. That means 7am Pacific. I would even say like Andy Cortez was here at 6:30. Andy.
B
That's. That's insane. It is fully insane. And the cool part about this, Tim, is it's taken all that time we saw the report come out that the team was so happy with how they led up to this. Being relaxed, taking their time, having fun, just making this. And it's selling for $20. Tim.
A
Yeah.
B
I think everyone in this room outside would have believed in the road to this. $40.
A
I was team 20, man.
B
Everybody was.
A
I'm not so surprised. I. This to me felt like the obvious road ahead for Team Cherry. Ye happy they did it.
B
Yeah.
A
And I also. I think they could have charged 40. I think they could have done a lot of things. I just like based on patterns. I just saw this as. As 20 and I, I love that they stuck to that.
B
I love that. I think that's a huge win. The whole story of this game and this team is just a massive win. And goes to show you that like good things can happen and video games can be celebrated and this can happen.
A
That's awesome. It's cool.
B
And we don't get many of those stories.
A
It's funny because here we are celebrating the fact that something's not working right. But it's like that's it's going to work. This is. This is going to iron itself out. It is not all the games being delayed or something. And he's playing it right now on Twitch tv. Slash kind of funny games. So I do think that if you're having problems getting this game, just keep at it. I'm sure you'll be playing this weekend. You know, if not already. Chat. Let me know if. Are you having any, any problems with this or are you playing. Do you have it downloaded? Where are you playing it? Mike, are you planning on giving this one a shot at all?
B
100 Tim. I did not play the first one. I will not go back to play it unless I have a really great time with this. But I'm going to give this a solid night and see how I do. I told you before, but I get lost easily in these games. And that is like the moment that I just lose all confidence and kind of give up is getting lost in these Metroidvanias. And so I'm hoping that I can have a good time. I would love to see more of it, but I bet you I give this a night and then probably don't play it.
A
I'm out there with you as well. Again, all about celebrating this. I think that this is such a wonderful moment. And on top of we were just giving them props for, for $20.
B
Yeah.
A
The way that they've handled this. So cool. It's also on Game Pass. Like for all of that to be true is just such a insane moment in video games when the world is falling apart around us, right? And like we've had so many misses, so many canceled games, so many like failed situations happening. Like so much bad stuff. And this year we got Expedition 33 coming out, not at full price and being as goddamn good as it was. We have Hollow Night, Silk Song. We have big surprises like blueprints like this is cool, man. Like there, there is a light in the darkness every once in a while when it comes to video games. And I love that we're having one of those moments right now.
B
Video games are cool.

Video games are cool, everybody. And we're gonna keep talking about them and all the news of the day right after a quick word from our sponsors. This episode's brought to you by Xreal. As of August 25th, Xreal One Pro is finally available on Amazon and BestBuy.com plus it's back in stock now on Xreal.com a few months ago, my life changed forever when I brought a pair of xreal One Pro AR glasses on a incredibly long flight to New York City. I legit could not believe how easy it was to use and how high quality my experience was. Playing games with my Steam deck and watching movies with my phone on the plane on a theater sized OLED screen right in front of my eyes without too much extra space stuff or a giant goofy headset involved. No joke. This is my favorite new piece of tech in years and it has earned a permanent spot in my travel bag. It's only hard to believe it works as well as I'm saying until you try xreal AR glasses for yourself and then you will see that the tech is here. Connect xreal One Pro glasses to whatever you're playing like a handheld console, PC phone or home console and get a massive 150 inch virtual screen anywhere, anytime for any game gaming on the go. Like a Long flight, you need Xrail 1 next starting to hurt from staring down at your handheld, you need xreal One. It's plug and play with all your devices via USB C built in audio with sound by Bose anchoring your screen literally anywhere in space. 1080p full HD and you can make it bigger, smaller, farther, closer, ultra wide or regular widescreen, horizontal, vertical, even 3D if you have a 3D movie. It's all built in and can be controlled by pressing a few buttons on the glasses. These are what make Xreal One Pro a must have. Xreal One Pro is now available on Amazon and BestBuy.com and from August 25th through September 1st you can get $50 off if you bundled Xreal One Pro with the Xreal Beam Pro AR mobile device on Amazon or Xreal.com there is nothing better than when a sponsor of Kinda Funny is something we are legitimately obsessed with. So get yours today at kind of funny.com/x real. That's kind of funny.com/x Real and we're back. Shout out to Matt Piscatella in the chat. You love to see it. Very, very cool stuff. And what a day to tune in to Kind of Funny Games Daily.
B
Hi Matt, nice to see you. Thanks for tuning in. Tim. During our break I wanted to see kind of like the Steam charts. What's how many people are playing this right now. So I went over to Steam DB to look up Hollow Night Silk Song. So currently 478,000 in game right now, almost half a million players for the all time peak almost 10 minutes ago. I'm sure that number will be rising throughout the day into Friday throughout the weekend. Of course there's Xbox, there's Switch, there's PlayStation 2. Congratulations team champion Insane.
A
These are crazy numbers. Keeping the numbers going. I want to talk about y' all because y' all are amazing. Right now we have over a thousand people watching Andy play Hollow Night Silksong on Twitch. While we're here with 1.8000 people watching funny games daily, y' all are the best. All right, after this, go support Andy. Hang out on the stream. It's going to be a great time for everyone. But before we get to everything else, let's get to story number three. Valve Trademarks Steam Frame this comes via Wario 64 and a gaming leaks and rumors Reddit post Super chat let me know what would you want out of a Valve console Slash Tower Wario tweets Valve™ Steam frame intended to cover the categories of computer game Consoles for recreational game playing, video game consoles, video game accessories, namely controllers for video games, one for computer hardware as well. Post notes that these were filed on September 2, 2025, two days ago. The Steam Frame trademark registrations intended to cover the categories of computer hardware, computer networking hardware, computer peripherals, hardware and computer software for the reproduction, processing and streaming of audio, video, data, text and multimedia content. The registrations intended to cover the categories of computer game consoles for recreational game playing, video game consoles, accessories, namely controllers for video games. So a lot of stuff just kind of like going through a bunch of the different categories of video game hardware, right? So I feel like this is them kind of continuing to make advancements in the space. Obviously we had the Steam machines back in the day that didn't really work so well. The world is ready for it now and I feel like they have proven that with the Steam deck. How popular that is starting to be. How popular having that docked with your TV is, all the different options you have to play games via the cloud and all that stuff. And they have their. They're moving to VR, right? That's their. They have their controllers. And the likelihood of them coming out with a Steam console of some sort, a Steam box of some sort that you could have on your home entertainment system is incredibly likely given their push into SteamOS, their push into how their ecosystem has evolved way beyond just being a storefront and game developer, publisher, studio. Right?
B
Yeah, of course, Tim. I mean, when we talk about Steam, you talk about the big storefront that is, you also talk about just kind of this big cultural push towards PC gaming. I always yell at you that the. The kids scream for a PC now over the console. And I know we're a little divided on that. But like, there is this moment right now in 2025 of like, Steam is kind of the dog right now. Steam is the big dog that everybody wants to be a part of and to see them, you know, it's a trademark. We'll see where that goes. But if you and I can fantasize, right, it is. How do you now take that PC and put it at the, you know, home. Big television in your sofa in your living room and say, hey, Steam is right here. All of those games that your kid buys over there, you can play right here. All the functionality of a PC could be right there. And TVs are already very close, that home consoles are very close to that. But there's something that's missing we all know it of. Like when you're on your PC, there's Something that's missing from that experience. And like, when you think of 2025 gaming, people want to have everything at their fingertips. And if Steam can somehow figure that out, if Xbox can figure that out, people want that in their living room.
A
Absolutely, yeah. And yeah, I think it's a very interesting time, obviously, as we see Xbox make their moves from kind of the other direction. Right. A console towards PC focus. Obviously, Microsoft's been on PC forever, but really taking it more seriously. Like, it's been a slow build, but it's been steady and consistent as well. And we're at the point now that clearly they are. Their future is the PC side, not the console side. Yes, that is incredibly clear that they're straight up saying that and all of the choices and decisions and the way that they're marketing, even like the Xbox ally acts like that is the direction they're going. Steam going the other direction is interesting because what does it even mean to be a console these days? And I think that they have the benefit of obviously everything I was saying before, of the install base of people that just use Steam as their storefront of choice and the flexibility and like, you know, it goes back to the iPhone versus Android. Like, obviously iPhones are incredibly popular, but so are Androids because of the flexibility and because they offer more tinkering and speak to a different audience. That's been PC gaming versus console gaming since its inception. We're at a point now that I think everything's leveling out, where more people are technically able to be interested in what used to be tinkering stuff, but is now just kind of so accessible and so easy to wrap your head around and the technology's there that everything's kind of level in a way that I imagine that all Steam needs to do is just put out a box that plays Steam games. It just works. Because that's been the thing about consoles. They just work. You plug them in and they just work. And PC gaming, that's not the case. And I feel like they're. They're there. I think that it's like if they were to do this, this will not be a Steam machine situation whatsoever. It will be a hit. But on top of that, we got on top of the VR thing because I feel like this, what they're talking about here, of all the controllers and accessories and stuff, like they're not giving up on VR either.
B
Interesting. Tim? Yeah, I. I didn't think of VR. I was going to ask you about VR. My mind kind of went even further in the Future of like when will I see Steam start to creep into my phone or my mobile devices? Right? You see Xbox making a push towards mobile. Steam is just so big. That storefront is so big that I do see in 20 years, you know, 30 years, steam is going to be everywhere. You'll be able to play it on any device. Right? My storefront will come with me.
A
But yeah, real quick, real quick. Because I want to say Zach Johnson saying I'm sorry, but people don't know how to tinker. To be clear. I feel like tinkering like the things that people would have to do before and is just part of the experience now because even the console sides become more PC. Like the every. The amount of menu options in a console game of even having to choose different graphics presets and all that stuff, it's there. It's rare that we play a game and you just don't get to do that booting up Astro unless it's a Nintendo game. But playing Astro Bot and I'm just not even giving you performance versus quality options and stuff. That is a rarity. I feel like more and more games have equalized to this point of like giving players options.
B
It feels like there's endless options and every time I boot up a new game, it is endless options. And it is Greg asking Andy to come to his desk every time, tinker with it and change it. Mike looking at Roger going, what are all these settings? What do I really need to change? What is X, Y and Z there? We went from five different video settings to there's a basic and an advanced video setting. That's how deep we are in to tinkering on just a basic level. Right. Not even into the computer side of messing around as well on that side. There's a lot going on there for sure.
A
Yeah. When's the last time you turned on a video game and didn't have to mess with sliders? You know what I mean?
B
Your boy Mike is messing with everything. Every day now is right. And I, I want to be the guy that's just a simple plug in and play. Dude is right, Tim. I see that. So we'll just keep going. But like I like to imagine, I. I am the however. Just give it to me however it is. I want to be that guy. That's not the world we live in anymore. It is. Hey, Mike, you got, you got Nvidia DLSS on right now. Oh no. They got four other options. You got to figure out what works best with that. Oh, you want Motion Blur. You Want all this on. It's like you have to spend 10 minutes and tinker away to get the best out of your performance.
A
Totally. And is it the best or is it just what you think might be. Hopefully maybe we'll see what's the best.
B
To your eyes compared to my eye. Yeah, exactly. I don't know what's happening but VR, Tim, since we're just going to keep going, because I assume we're just going to keep going.
A
I think, I think.
B
Tell me about VR.
A
Yeah.
B
What are you seeing that you really think Steam, they haven't given up with that?
A
I don't think so. And I also don't. I, I don't like talking about VR just because like VR to me is a thing that I feel was not adopted by enough people in both consumers and in terms of experiences that developers were creating that made it worthwhile and made it a must need thing that personally I'm way more interested in the AR XR side of things and the, the VR to me I'd like. All right, cool. I'm really into the novelty of it, but it is just a novelty. But I do think that there are, there's a lot of potential with it and when it does get downsized enough like I feel like there is a lot of room for major wins there but I never think it's going to be like, oh, this is the new way people play games or anything. But I also just don't see Steam giving up on it because I just see Steam getting, gaining more and more traction and power in every tech space, period. And so when they do have again I keep saying this, but the ecosystem of the store and their studios and just all the power that they already have, it's like, why not be market leaders or at least but sharing the market dominantly with in every form of tech that has anything to do with video games. Right.
B
I totally agree, Tim. And when I think of VR, there are two options. It is finding a headset that will work with Steam to play the VR titles that they offer or of course Meta and that headset over there. Right. And so it's like you only really have two kind of viable routes that you're going to take. I prefer the Meta because there is no chords. That's where I want to be. But you get a certain power and you get a lot more options from the Steam storefront. And yeah, I agree. I don't think they're leaving VR behind. It will be interesting of do they continue to iterate on their own headset Right. We talk about the Valve Index VR kit five years from now, ten years from now. Is there a second headset? Are they going to continue that?
A
I don't know. But I mean they're also talking about accessories and controllers. Right. I feel like that's the other thing too is like method of input and just Steam kind of overall owning the concept of the video game space that can be applied to the VR side, a home console side, the Steam deck side. Like it's going to be very interesting. But again I also think we're at this like precipice of Xbox coming the other way. And just mobile gaming, all types of gaming are converging where gamers are going to more and more expect that things just work the way you expect them to. And that means no proprietary bullshit and no. Well it works this way here and that way there. We're still there. And I think that will always be there to an extent and there's always going to be outliers. Nintendo is going to Nintendo and that sucks. I wish that they wouldn't do that. It's also why they work because they do just do their own bullshit. But I am very interested in a world where you can just play a PlayStation controller on a Steam machine, playing an Xbox game and it's like we're already there, but just it working even easier. I think is, is what I'm hoping.
B
For at that convergence point is gamers and gamers just want a game. They want frictionless gaming. They want to be able to look at something, pick up something and just play. And that's a lot of these companies, companies new vision and mantra is like well we have to meet the gamer where they are and we have to give them the very best. And yes, Steam could do anything they want and they're going to see that and they're going to say well we want to continue to produce massive buku dollar bucks. Right. And so we got to continue to give all of our players that. So yeah, great call Tim. There's a lot of cool stuff there.
A
Yep. Let's move on to story number four, something that you marked out for earlier today when you read this. Tomb Raider live action series to begin filming in 2026. Sophie Turner confirmed as Lara Croft. This comes from Joe Otterson at Variety. The Tomb Raider live action series and Amazon Prime Video is getting ready to shoot. The series adaptation of the video game franchise is set to begin production on January 19, 2026. In addition, Amazon, MGM Studios has confirmed for the first time that Sophie Turner will star as Lara Croft. The show was originally greenlit at prime video in May 2024 when Turner's involvement first reported in November that year. The show was first reported being in development at in January 2023. As previously reported, Phoebe Waller Bridge will serve as creator, writer and executive producer. But now Chad Hodge has boarded the show as executive producer. And yeah, a whole bunch of stuff here. Quote we got is I'm so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative teams. Walter Bridge said it's not very often you get to make a show of the scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are are all as outrageous, brave and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out. Croft is coming. Turner's latest high profile access to take on the role of Croft. The globe trotting adventurer was previously portrayed on screen in two films by the Goat. The Goat, Angelina Jolie and another by Alicia Viander. I'm thrilled beyond measure to be playing Lara Croft, Turner said. She's such an iconic character who means so much to so many and I'm giving everything I got. They're massive shoes to fill.
B
Massive.
A
Kevin, can we show the shoes wearing the whole outfit, everybody. They're massive shoes to fill. Following the steps. Evangeline and Alicia with their powerhouse performances. But with Phoebe at the helm, we are all in very safe hands and I can't wait for you all to see what we have cooking. And then Greg says if this news catches you off guard, remember that it kind of leaked when Sophie showed up jacked on Instagram a few months ago. And yeah, we've been seeing that she's been getting into absolutely insane. Yeah.
B
Right. So Mike, you popped off Tim, stunned by this news. Shocked, excited. Because like when I think Sophie Turner.
A
Yeah.
B
I think of a great time. Do you Game of Thrones.
A
Okay.
B
Sansa Stark, you know.
A
Yeah.
B
She was the Queen of the North. She was taken over and it just brought me so much joy.
A
Yeah.
B
I don't know if that's Tomb Raider though, Tim. See, there's a piece of me that loves Sophie Turner. For the working game of Thrones and the memories that I have and just thinking about her and that cast and that crew.
A
Yeah.
B
When I think of Tomb Raider, the issue is, is we have an American Idol, Kelly Clarkson situation. The first time was so good that it's hard to replicate and follow it up because Angelina Jolie was two Manor. She is two Manor. She was so good that it's just like I Just can't picture anyone else.
A
Yeah, it is interesting because I to your point, Angelina Jolie in many ways nailed it, nailed it for what that era of video game movies was and what that era of Tomb Raider was. I do think that there's something special. She does deserve the shout out. And then Alicia Vikander as well, I think really nailed the Lara Croft Tomb Raider reboot vibes. Right. That movie, I think his biggest fault was its time of release and that it literally was a one to one just remake of the game. And it's not like that game is as revered as Last of Us. That was, you know, people, Last of Us, season one specifically. People are just like, oh man, why do this? It's just the same thing. And so with Tomb Raider I feel like, you know, part of the novelty of playing these big blockbuster games, like an Uncharted or a Tomb Raider and all that stuff is that you're playing the blockbuster movie when the blockbuster movie is just based on the game that had set. It just gets a little bit meta in a way that I think kind of takes away some of the magic. Good movie, totally fine. It's what, what a plane movie. You watch that in the plane, you're gonna have a good time.
B
As Greg normally says, this is a video game that deserved a sequel. That movie I think would have been better if we got a sequel and we would have iterated on that and worked on that. But we are in a different age of taking video games to the screen now. We're in a better age now, the better time.
A
It's incredible, man. I, I think I keep saying this, but we are at a point that it is more likely that video game adaptation will be good than bad. And I'm not saying amazing, but I'm saying good. And we've seen a lot of cases of that at this point. There's been some duds. Borderlands comes to mind. But in terms of Tomb Raider, I. It's always a weird one for me. I don't know where Tomb Raiders place is in the world as an ip, both movie, TV wise and gaming wise. Like it's tough. They have reinvented themselves and the last run of games I think was a major success for the franchise. What are they going to do now? I don't know. Like I'm not personally excited for this one. Like all the things they're saying, I'm like, I'm not into it. And the biggest thing is Sophie Turner herself. I am not against her, but I'm definitely not for her as an actress and as Lara Croft specifically. She's jacked. That's awesome, right? I really liked her in Game of Thrones. Nothing bad to say about her there. I despised her in the X Men movies. Her Jean Grey was not good. Was that her fault? I don't know. I'm sure there was a lot of things at fault, but she was not good. And every other thing I've seen her, including this movie, do Revenge. Not the biggest fan. So I'm here like, hey, this news, not for me. I'm not hyped about it, but I'm also not hating on it. Like I don't. I think that she can do a fine job. My big question is, what is this Lara Crow? What is this show? It's not a movie. It's the first time we're getting a live action Tomb Raider show.
B
Yeah, that's a little bit different now, huh? Is right. You gotta think of that young star, an opportunity to grow and probably get better. Maybe can really nail it. The tough part is, Tim, is I can't name you five other people that I would cast in this role. That's why I would have to turn to you, Nick. I'd have to turn to the audience and say, well, give me five other names that when you close your eyes, you can imagine as Tomb Raider. Because I just don't got it like that.
A
I mean, let me, let me take back what I just said and say like how I feel about this. She's perfect for this. Because we don't know what this is. Like, this is a new Tomb Raider. We, we. There's a new Tomb Raider game coming out maybe, you know, unless it gets crossing our fingers, unless it gets Wonder Woman or whatever right there. In theory. There is a new Tomb Raider reboot coming out. We don't know the tone of that. We don't know that character. We. And I guarantee it's not going to be the same as the old games or the reboot games. It's just not. So whatever this is going to be, it is going to be different. So it could be anybody. And we don't know if it's gonna be good or bad till it comes out. So we'll see.
B
Yeah, TV show's an interesting one as well. Right. But like you got shows like Reacher out there that are just fun to watch, right? Like there's some fun action adventure shows that you get behind and it's like consumer, can Tomb Raider feel that? Or is more Tomb Raider a movie to me, Right. Where is Tomb Raider in 2025 and beyond is right. Tim, great question, man. If you listen to me on the X Cast, I always question the return of Perfect Dark. I even questioned Indy of, like, are people screaming for Indiana Jones? And you know what? They did show up for Indiana Jones. And it's. These are some old titles that are like, is that still relevant in today? I don't know. Yeah.
A
Interesting stuff, everybody. Alex Frazier says, why are we talking about the old Tomb Raider movies? Like, they're good. I thought only Mike liked them. I. I mean, I think, yeah.
B
Yeah, two. You have to celebrate that. That was one of the few times we were getting video games on the silver screen with a megastar that was Angelina Jolie and Good, Bad, Ugly. We just weren't getting video game movies. That's why we kind of hold those kind of on a different level of like, man, back in the day and back in my day, we got bad video game movies, but we celebrated those. Okay. But then we also had Doom with the Rock. So, like, remember what dude with the Rock was compared to Angelina Jolie and two minutes, like, remember that?
A
I'm not sure I fully can follow you down that alley, Mike, but, like, I'm at least starting to. You know what I mean? Like, I'm here for the reference. I'm here for the nostalgia of it all. But, like, and then, yeah, like, to your point of like, celebrating, like, we were stoked to see those movies in theaters, but also, again, I think for me, the going to the super chat from Alex Frazier, it's just like the Tomb Raider games weren't that amazing either. And like, I. People might disagree with me there, but, like, I'm going to be real. The PS1 trilogy of Tomb Raider games, which is what we had before those movies, they were for the time, good, but like, I don't know, I never really liked them as video games. Story number five. Nintendo Cease and Desist letter is now a playable character in a Super Smash Brothers mod. This comes from Blair Marnell at Gamespot. Nintendo once shut down a Smash Brothers Melee tournament with a cease and desist order. Now a Smash Brothers Melee modders turning the tables on Nintendo by turning its Cease and Desist letter into a playable character. Cease and Desist was created by a modder who goes by Mooshiz, and the skin replaces Kirby's usual appearance. Mushi's apparently has a very fun sense of humor because a closer look at Cease and Desist reveals lines that would never appear in an actual legal document from Nintendo. Low key. That mod do Be sick though and your mod too tough your game and watch too different.
B
Low key. Low key. This is. This is dope.
A
Mushi's was also behind the recent Jimbo the Clown from Balatro mod which put that Character skin over Mr. Game and Watch. That mod was initially paywalled behind Mushi's Patreon account before it was subsequently released for free. It's unclear if Mushi's actually received any legal notification from Nintendo before releasing the new season desist mod. Mushi's joked that the cease and desist skin is available for 10 quote for 10 more billion dollars. A direct yet humorous retaliation to the backlash the modder face for locking Jimbo the Clown Balatro skin behind a pay wall. Do you see all this happened?
B
No.
A
Oh this is my side of the Internet. It was hilarious. Like God people be doing earlier this year, former Nintendo employees Christy Gang and Kit Ellis suggest the homies suggested that the publisher will never make Smash Brothers Melee hd, in part because of the game's history of piracy and mods. They also argued that it would be extremely difficult to please fans of the original tire title. I disagree entirely. We will 100% get a smash Brothers at some Melee at some point. And on top of that, if I'm wrong, I will once again don this outfit.
B
A remake remaster of Melee.
A
Yes.
B
I mean the NSO shop, that's the thing.
A
At the very least it'll come to NSO at some point with, you know, just the enhancements that come with just the emulation there. But I would not be surprised if we actually get a HD Melee HD to some extent.
B
Have they ever done that for the. Yeah, really some good history with those games. But I guess you iterate and you like they only get better and better. They add more cast and crew. Right. So it's like from the general public's eyes, you're really just playing a better game every time.
A
Yeah, but that's the thing. It's for the Die Hards, right? And Melee specifically has such a specific use case difference than ultimate for how hardcore it is. Fans recently predicted that the original Smash Bros. And four other N64 titles may become a Switch Online. As for Melee, it isn't currently among the handful of GameCube titles available to players through Switch Online. There we go.
B
Why are they holding out on us?
A
Nintendo's weird smashing Pokemon, man.
B
Let's just roll out, Tim. Give me. Give it to me. I why are you holding them back from me?
A
I like the roll out.
B
Okay?
A
Because I as a Nintendo fan that has been a Nintendo fan my entire life. And I have bought so many games so many goddamn times on these E shops. Right. The fact that NSO now, specifically now in 2025, has almost all of the consoles, right? Any s. And yes, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Sega Genesis, like so many different consoles there, Game Boy Game. I already said those. 90% of the games you care about on any of those systems are available to you now. There are the Donkey Kong 64, there's all the Pokemons. There are exceptions, but so many of the games are there. I love that. Now that they've added GameCube, we're gonna get the strip feed. It's not always gonna be exciting, but them making a big deal out of Chibi Robo means that Roger played Chibi Robo and fucking loves Chibi Robo.
B
He's telling me to play it.
A
And guess what? If they just dropped all the games at once. No one's playing Chibi Robo.
B
That's true.
A
So I think that it's the. Right.
B
The rollout. I guess I'm more of like the title selection of like. Why are you holding up Pokemon from me?
A
Well, Pokemon is different though. Of course Pokemon and Smash are different for different reasons. But talking about Pokemon, I feel like it is more likely than ever that Pokemon Day in four or five months, whatever it is, February 27, 2026, we will get information about how we're going to be able to play the classic Pokemon games. My bet is it is a full price paid collection of the games.
B
That's fine. I will do that. I want these playable now with me where I go. The Nintendo Switch is just such a perfect console and I want these games with me, Tim. But here's some questions for you.
A
Hit me.
B
They got Ken Griffey Jr. Baseball for the N64.
A
Yeah, that'll get there eventually. They got Rampagendo published, right?
B
Yeah, they got Rampage World Tour Prob.
A
Maybe. I don't know about the Legends. Who.
B
I'm just pulling out my Legends.
A
Yeah, yeah, maybe, maybe. Oh, man, if they had Gauntlet Legends to nsl, Mike, that'd be big news.
B
Huge news.
A
But if I want to know something smaller, the tiniest news I could possibly find, where would I go?
B
Tim, I take you to our last news story, the WE News Channel, where we cover all the small news items.
A
You need to know about. WE News, baby. Hollow Knight Silk songs out today. Let's celebrate. Friend of the show, Dave for Noise been announced as the main villain in borderlands 4. The timekeeper shout out to Dave.
B
That's cool.
A
What a human being. We do not talk enough about Dave Fenoy.
B
I know his name and I love his work because of kind of funny.
A
Absolutely.
B
It is a cool little partnership right there of just friendship that me as a audience member now loves Dave Fenoy after 10 years.
A
Because Dave Fenoy is the definition of a best friend. A kind of funny best friend. Like such an amazing talent, amazing person and so congrats. Love that. Monster Hunter now Season seven Advent of the advent of the exploration base launches on September 18th. Game developer reports that dozens have been laid off at XCOM and Civilization Dev Paraxis. In a statement, a 2K Sports spokesperson told game developer that there was a staff reduction today at Firaxis Games as the studio restructures and optimizes its development process for adaptability, collaboration and creativity on LinkedIn. Multiple developers have mentioned being laid off throughout the course of the day. This includes writer Emma Kidwell, Kidwell senior quality assurance tester Logan Blackwood, lead character artist Matthew Davis and producer Maya H. Obviously this sucks. Obviously I'm in a clown outfit and I apologize for how tasteless this all is. Hate this news. Hate that we have to cover this stuff all the time. These are names that we know.
B
Yeah, this one sucks.
A
Yeah.
B
Cuz I like that team.
A
Yeah.
B
And I that that one hurts. I mean all of them hurts. And so yeah, the hearts, our hearts go out to you. That sucks.
A
Yeah. GameSpot reports Ubisoft is releasing another Discovery Tour. It's series of mostly educational tours of historical locations featured in Assassin's Creed games, but this time it's a free mobile app. Discovery Tour Medieval Baghdad is based on Assassin's Creed Mirage's depiction of 9th century Baghdad and is available for free on iOS and Android. This is an amazing thing that I don't know most people know about, but this is a, a teaching option that I know multiple teachers have implemented in their actual school studies of having kids be able to learn about places via Assassin's Creed. And because Assassin's Creed, you know, cares so much about getting the details right of the worlds and times and locations that they're in. It's a very, very special opportunity for them and I love that they take the time to, you know, make the most out of the work that they put into these games.
B
I think it's rad, Tim. Edutainment, as I love to yell about, but I think it is rad. And there's a couple of teams out there that do it right. This team with Ubisoft does it, Right? Of course you talk about mlb the show if you have not if you have any interest in baseball. If you love sports, you just want to know about sports history and of course, culture, right? Like go check out storylines. That is a very special moment. Age of Empires with their hands on history stuff. Like, it's very cool to have these moments of tie in where you're like, man, if I was a kid and you could teach, there was a teacher out there that was fun enough to be like, yo, we're going to learn this way, I'd be freaking out.
A
Oh yes, absolutely. Hordes of Hell Norse God is out today on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. This is one Greg wish listed on last Friday's gamescast, so check that out. Pretty cool. Sandfall Interactive says on Twitter following the release of CLAR obscure Expedition 33 and its original soundtrack, we are thrilled to announce an unprecedented co production for the launch of an official concert tour.
B
Let's snap. Go.
A
This is the Tim Getty's dream. This project brings together Blue Citron, independent producer of live performances Sandfall Interactive, the development studio Behind Claire obscure expedition 33, Laurie and to start and Elise Dupor Percier, the composers of the composer of the OST and the singer and Les Sudane's artistic production structure and technical direction. We can't wait to reveal the first French dates very soon with the prospect of an international expansion starting in 2026. I will be there for fucking sure. Probably not the one in France, but definitely whenever it comes to America, even if I have to travel, if I have to go to like New York or something, I'm fucking doing it.
B
You're right or die too.
A
I have to do this.
B
Tell them to bring the merch too. Because you want to dope.
A
I need. I need it. I need it all, man.
B
Get. Get everything.
A
So exciting. And that's it for WE news. Let's go to you're wrong to see what we got wrong today. We only got one thing. Let's see. It says no one's wrong. Silky Bay says no one's wrong specifically. But since Tim said this is Silksong, not GTA 6 in regards to the crazy store crashes, it's worth noting that Silksong had no pre orders or preload. Considering how Take 2 is operated with past releases, GTA 6 will likely have pre orders and preload and not face the Silksong issue of everyone trying to buy and download at the same time. Yeah, that is interesting. Yeah. And I wonder why? You know, I was thinking about that of like, what the reasoning was for them not having preload.
B
It was odd. Yeah, of like not even. Even preload. Pre or not preload? Even the pre order. Right. It was just an odd one. Of like yesterday when we were prepping for Andy's thing and going to Steam and it's still saying wish list. Right. It wasn't even out there for $20 at 5 o'.
A
Clock.
B
Last night was an odd one.
A
Yeah, it is weird. I wonder if somebody knows the reason why. Please let me know because that, that would be interesting. I'm sure it has something to do with the fact that they're indie, you know, but it's fucking Hollow Knight Silk songs like, they got the connects to figure this out. Right. All right, let's go through all the super chats before we close out the day here. Kebab says, can't wait for clown Tim to read the Firaxis news. Oh, man. We got Joey Rod says Ronald McDonald, Greg and clown Tim should review it.
B
That's good. That's good.
A
Playing Penguin says, let's talk about how the Escapist YouTube channel is uploading online gambling hype videos now. Total biscuits rolling in his grave. I don't know about all that, but God damn, there's nothing worse than when a once dominant Internet site or YouTube channel or whatever gets like purchased by someone else and just turns it into. We saw it with SourceFed. We've seen it with so many. We've seen so many other groups. But that sucks that it's happening to Escapist. According to this super chat. Nightlife says, I thought Tim was hosting today, not Greg the video game journalist clown. That's good, Mike. You've been doing awesome. And Tim, I hope you host again soon.
B
Thank you, homie.
A
Thank you for the kind words.
B
Thanks for having fun with us today.
A
Oscar B says, birthday tax. Happy Silk Song day, everybody. Happy birthday, Oscar. The stoner Sensei says, I appreciate the commitment, Tim. Thank you. Thank you very much. Matthew Lewis says maybe a trailer in September in gameplay at Game Awards.
B
Yeah, I was going to ask you about Sony and Game Awards as well. When we talk about the cycle that everyone's in. But also you brought up Nintendo and PlayStation kind of being in a similar cycle. How much? Sony with Jeff. Game Awards. What kind of love can we see there? You know, Another good beat.
A
Yeah, you know, I think that it's. It's interesting to be where we're at now with the Game Awards. This being the 11th game awards coming up last year being the 10th. Obviously the anniversary. A bigger deal in theory at least. Right. They did a whole orchestra concert to celebrate it. Like they went hard. I feel like we're starting to lose a lot of the patterns that we used to look at before. Of like, all right. Microsoft usually does this type of announcement in game awards. Nintendo will show up with this dumb bullshit and PlayStation will have one thing here. Whatever. It's been so inconsistent the last couple years that I think we've lost the pattern. So we got Naughty Dog's debut of Inter Galactic last year. That doesn't mean we're going to get a PlayStation game this year. It also doesn't mean we're not. So we'll see.
B
It's just a big beat, you know. It's a big beat.
A
Huge beat. Every year bigger than ever. So I expect that it is not crazy to say that this year's Game Awards will have more eyes than last year's. Ash says due to an error in the Microsoft Argentine store. Silksong's just $2. I think they're saying.
B
Whoa.
A
Also $7 on steam in several countries. Whose fault is this? How does this affect Team Cherry? Love you all. I don't know.
B
I'm sure that was probably handled very quickly.
A
I bet. I'd imagine so.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. Matthew Roko says. Tim, I just got lock on 006 in the mail after two years of waiting. Excited to read your section on Final Fantasy 10. That's awesome. Many years ago, the lock on incredible video game magazine. But I'd also almost call it like book. Like it's like a hardcover. Like museum style. Like very, very cool series that they do over there. Very prestige video game coverage. Right. Like more retrospective looking things. There was a whole Final Fantasy issue coming out and they reached out to a ton of people to write about their favorite Final Fantasy games or moments or whatever. And they asked me to do it for 10, which is awesome. So I. I wrote something which is very rare for me. And now I'm in a book, which is cool. Tim. That star wrote about eights.
B
That's rad.
A
Yeah. Custom art by the Final Fantasy artist. Like very, very.
B
That's very cool.
A
But I've been waiting for it for years too. So I'm to see it.
B
Do you know what journal it is?
A
I'm on IM8 bit.
B
They're selling lock on gaming journal volume one.
A
It's volume six. You're volume six. Volume six. So we.
B
We can look that up. That's so rad, Tim.
A
Yeah.
B
There Was last night.
A
Can we talk about just a quick moment?
B
There was last night in my Pokemon journey, right? And I can just rattle off Final Fantasy 10 stuff like that game. That game has an impact on me, Tim. Yeah, dude, I get a little teary.
A
Eyed thinking about it. I love it.
B
I could just rattle stuff off.
A
I love it, man.
B
Xanark in my man.
A
I'm gonna tell you ballers bro, one of gaming moments of the year is not me playing video games. It's you talking to me about Final Fantasy 10. Good.
B
Tim, really quick before you leave the next one, I just do want to hype up. We have 1800 kind of funny best friends currently watching us. We are wrapping down the show but I want to encourage you, please come on over to Twitch, maybe stop by encourage Andy, drop a sub if you can. That timer's only growing and we would love for all of you if you can resubmit gift a sub. Let's keep Andy here all weekend long and let's celebrate the release of Hollow Knight Silk Song. So don't forget, the fun doesn't stop. And with 1800 of you, as we always say, if each and every one of you resubscribed or just gifted one sub that would change the timer so quickly and he would be here all day long. So please, I just want to give you a quick shout out on that one.
A
Hell yes. Motor World Hype says. I'm so sorry, Tim. I'm so very, very sorry. It's okay. Man of my word. Oscar Navaro says. I know Tim's a fan of Sweet Tooth, but this is crazy. Oh yeah, Metal now. Peacock Joe, Check it out. Alex Fraser said managed to beat the first one in time for Silk Song to drop. Playing it on my Switch 2 and loving it so far. The movement and art are impeccable. Hell yeah, man. I. I think I'm going PC for this one. I'm going Steam.
B
Okay.
A
Because I want. I need OLED for a game like this. I like there's so much blacks in it. I. I need it to look so crisp and good. So yeah, Steam Deck oled, baby. Jay Kennedy says I was able to get Silksong from the Nintendo Eshop, but the file took ages to download. It plays like a dream. Thanks to Team Cherry. Roberto says does anyone in the office have a fear of clowns?
B
I'm going to find out today.
A
Yeah.
B
No. Greg has been dressed up as a clown. I know someone would have raised their hand.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Passel of Hog says, Mike, I love the trail Stream Yesterday. Do you think you're going to finish the demo or possibly play the full game?
B
Yeah, Tim, last night, yesterday, I took a chance, right? We've been talking about it all year long. I took a chance on a super nerdy game that I've stepped out of my comfort zone with a lot of games this year and I took a chance on this one. Played the demo, Tim, me and Kevin had a really good time. The music, 10 out of 10, the world, the story, the fun. I'm ready to explore more. I'm hoping It's a 10 out of 10. And the gameplay, surprisingly really cool for a game. I believe that is an older game that's being kind of remastered in this. The idea of like having active combat to draw in like a general generic audience like me and then be like, well, watch this. You can turn it into turn based right now and get even deeper was a lot of fun. So there I was. I'd start off the combat, I'd be hacking and slashing like I want to do. And then I was like, you know, oh, hold up, let me cast some spells, let me go. And it was a lot of fun.
A
Hell yeah.
B
So yeah, I'll probably play more the demo. I don't know if I can play the whole game, but I will probably finish this demo, see where it goes.
A
Freaking awesome. Mem says, Tim, what's your clown name? Do clowns have names? Yeah. Yeah, I don't think you get to choose your name. It has to be bestowed upon you. You know what I mean?
B
After clown college.
A
Yeah, exactly. Hey, I'm just cosplaying a clown right now.
B
Interesting.
A
Interesting. If there's someone out there that like, has the power to, to like knight a clown, let me know what my name is. Terrifier. Yeah. Jesus Christ. Resolute says, welcome back to kf. Ben Star. That's good. Nice. Alex Fraser says, why are we talking about the old Tomb Raider movies? Like they were good. Already talked about that. Andrew Brown says, I think you guys should watch Fleabagger, the first season of Killing Eve, to understand Phoebe Waller Bridge. Yeah, dude. Oh, I, I have faith for sure, but her doing Tomb Raider, I. I don't know. Hey, jury's still out again. I feel like we just need to know what this Tomb Raider is. Volk Dasher says, for end of show, I think we see a double whammy from Insomniac Wolverine get shown with 2027 and then a smaller game, maybe Venom to soften the blow for 2020 26.
B
Yeah. So what's up with Spider Man? I mean, we go to Wolverine Spider man eventually. Are we done with Spider Man?
A
We're not done. We'll get. We're getting another Spider Man. Absolutely.
B
I like it.
A
I mean, we have to like it. They teed it up. The game does super well. Like, yeah, we're getting a Spider Man 3.
B
Okay.
A
Will we get a Venom? That I'm a little more unsure of. Okay. But we'll see. Anything is possible. Alex says, happy Silk Song day, y'. All. Tim, what's Gia's reaction to Clown Tim? She hasn't seen me. And when I told her I was doing. Doing this, she literally was like, I don't want to see it. Like, I really don't want to see it. Please don't send me pictures. Don't. Don't send me videos. Do not tweet at Gia Gettys sending me any pictures of him. Just let me live. So, yeah, I will not be doing that. I will not send her anything. But I can't stop, you know, the world. The world. Yeah, I'm sending her things.
B
Great call.
A
EJRPG says, Mike, thank you for playing Trails in the Sky. It's my favorite. Always needs more love. And then Aaron Ambrose with the final one for now saying, Mike, is YouTube getting attempt seven part two soon?
B
Yeah, well, I have to beat it. So, Tim, on this one, I had done so many streams that I failed a lot. Of course one through five. We don't talk about six. And so I was just putting out so many Pokemon videos at a rapid pace and my thumbnails were like kind of declining. I was. It was tough getting the Pokemon emerald logo plus me and you know how I like to title things. I wanted to make them like the Pokemon anime titles where it's like a long ass title. Roger was like, you can't do this. I need to. And so, yeah, I just took everything from part one, jammed it together 16 hours. I'll do the same for part two of like, this will be everything. So I still got to beat 678 elite four. So, yeah, you got some time. You got some time, unfortunately.
A
And you have time to go watch Andy Cortez Twitch tv kind of funny games. He's playing Hollow Night Silk Song right now. He's going to be playing all day, all night, maybe for the next rest of his life if you keep supporting with all of your Twitch subs. Go check that out. Thank you for hanging out with us today. There will be no Gamescast today. There'll be two in reviews next week for the Conjuring and for alien Romulus. Because we just. Hollow Knight's getting in the way. You know what I mean? We got to give it a space. We got to give it its face. Thank you so much, Kev. Thank you, Mike. It's been kind of funny.
B
Games Daily.
A
