Well, I worried about that. I don't. I don't want. I don't want to turn you into an Apple junkie. I don't think this is necessarily a gateway drug. It's just a really good little box. I think you'll enjoy having that connected.

To your tv, because I do. Like, I have. The only thing I have right now is my Amazon Fire Stick, and I like it. But there are things every now and then where I'm like, man, the connectivity between my Fire Stick and my Alexa app isn't as strong as I'd like it to be. Like, it doesn't. Listen.

This is such a big step up from a Fire Stick, it's not even funny.

Dual sensor and Xbox controller that. And play your. Play the Apple Arcade games on it. Or you can get the Steam Link app and you can run. You can Steam Link games from your PC and you can also run emulators on. You can put retro arc on it and run emulated games. You can do all kinds of stuff.

Will do. Now, I want to talk about these handhelds, because I'm looking at them, and I love the aesthetic of these. That one on the left right there is just straight up a Game Boy.

So, yeah, we were talking about retro emulation and how it's been a hobby of mine recently. And I've got a couple of these. There's more, but these are just a couple of the cheapest ones. This is from a company called Anbernic, and you can just buy these on Amazon. This one is very much like a. I mean, if you look at. That is almost exactly the form factor of a Game Boy. Right. Sells everything, but with a bigger screen.

Yeah. It knows what it is.

And in fact, they sell one that is exactly the Game Boy colors. Like, you'd have to look closely to know it's not a Game Boy.

Yeah.

And then this one is more the kind of horizontal format where the controls are on either side. Do you prefer handhelds with the controls on the bottom of the screen or on either side of the screen?

I'll say, like, probably on the sides. I think that's where we kind of evolved.

Okay, so we'll stick with this one for right now. This one also has thumbsticks. Yeah, this will emulate.

It looks like a mini switch.

Yeah, this will emulate up to like a PS1. I think some of the. Some of the fancier, more expensive handhelds will go all the way up to like a switch, basically and emulate everything. But let's hold it. Yeah, absolutely. What he was going to say, like, pick a game, like. Like a classic arcade game or an old Genesis game or something. We'll see if it's on here.

Happy Friday. I was gonna start. I'll start this off by talking about how, like, my Friday's going really well. Okay. The Wicked soundtrack came out this morning for the movie.

Oh, are you a wicked person? Excited about that, Gary?

I am, like the biggest wicked person. I watched the movie already. I watched it a couple nights ago. It's so good. Probably one of my favorite movies ever. And I don't want to, like, overhype it for people that aren't wicked pilled as I am. It's. It's a musical. It's a great, great musical movie. But I am so into the music of Wicked. And I recently saw the. The, like, the stage play live for the first time. I hear the music.

The movie is very good.

Oh, it's incredible.

Although I found out that they've done another one of these bait and switches where it's like. It's only half the story, right?

It is only half the story. It is a part one. But I think. Honestly, I think it works out for what they're doing with it. Because Wicked, if you've watched the musical, it is like a. There's a clear cutting off point of, like, the first half and the second half. Right, Right. Like, when you hit interment. Intermission, you get into that second act, and it really is like. It almost already feels like a part two to the story. Yeah. So I think it's true to what the. Like, I think the movie is true to what the musical is.

And honestly, if you're just gonna keep the good parts of Wicked into one movie.

And I wrote. I read a review that said it still feels like a complete.

Like, my big project right now is I bought a Mac mini. And I've got. I'm using that as, like, a really powerful emulation station. So that runs everything from like, Atari 6, 20, 600, to, like, I've got Super Mario Galaxy.

So it will run pretty much. These emulators will run pretty much everything. It's just. It's. It's a lot of digging around and hassle. Like, get everything set up and working the way that you want it, but.

I mean, basically what's happened is technology has advanced over the last couple of Decades so quickly that these major car and even arcade even like you know, arcade machines that were once deemed like beyond our reach. You know, remember how like the home like the NES port of like an arcade game wouldn't be as good, right. Because the hardware wasn't as good. Now it's better. Arcades are basically extinct now because you can. Everything they could do you can now do on a machine.

That is crazy to think about the fact that we had to have these boxes in our living rooms or like right next to our TV to run these eight bit games. And now like straight up, it's just on this little pad.

Because I was going to talk a little bit more about Wicked. Just the fact that soundtracks up been listening to it this morning and was loving it. Right. Like I think it's a fantastic movie, fantastic musical. One of my favorites. My favorite musical but like one of my favorite movies at this point. As I was listening to it this morning, I got a notification on my phone that Kendrick Lamar had dropped like a new video on YouTube and I watched it. Turns out he surprise dropped a new album this morning. Oh wow. I've been listening to the new album like Shadow Drop the hour before this episode before kfc been listening to it and it was to the point where like I'm halfway through, it's like 9:30 or whatever and like somebody's knocking on the door to deliver mail and Barrett has like run through and get the. Get the package because I don't hear it because I have this music just turned up all the way in my ears. Right.

Chat. Let me tell you something. It was like we've. We've assumed for the last couple of months because Blessing is usually the first one here in the office that the person who comes and knocks on the door to deliver packages is just like the softest knocker. You know, just like doesn't really knock that hard because Blessing always misses these packages. And Blessing is really close to the front door.

I'm the closest to the door like right, right next to cool rig.

And let me tell you, kind of actually being more on time some days this week where I've actually heard the knock that happens when packages are delivered. It's a really fucking loud knock which. And I can hear it across like the building and Blessing is right there, and he cannot hear this man knock, knocking his heart out. And I'm concerned about Blessing's hearing within the next five years.

Oh, no. It's going downhill. But I've also been listening to very loud music since I was.

I'm gonna say you murdering. You should do the, the Apple hearing test with the AirPods because it will test your hearing now and tell you if your hearing.

Like, whenever I'm at a party, whenever I'm at like a club or any, any place with loud music and people are like yelling over each other or whatever to talk to each other, there would be certain moments where I'm like, oh, certainly they can't hear. People can't hear each other. But yeah, they can. And I'm like, right standing right there, and I cannot hear a word anybody saying. So I know my hearing is going bad, but it is what it is. Like, you know, I'll do what I can to listen to Kendall Kumar at max volume. If it means I don't hear in 10 years, so be it. I got to listen to.

This is the thing I wanted to show you. This is one of my all time favorite arcade games. This is Outrun. This is the arcade version. Oh, that's the fucking arcade game.

I used to put quarters in when I was 20, you know, 10p pieces or 50p pieces when I was a kid or what you could call it quarters here, I guess. And like, all these arcade games, I was like, oh, man, I wish I could have them in my home.

Like, I'd want to reach back in time to like the 12 year old me and say, one, one day, my son Padawan, you will walk around with all of these games in your fucking pocket.

You're gonna like, look, I'll be like, what? That's nutty. Like, your child's gonna be, how can that be real? And yet your kids will be playing the PlayStation 6. And you're going to look at them and be like, yo, this, in 30 years, you're going to be playing this on the smallest handheld God of war.

Imagine what we're going to be doing in another 20 years. I do think that, like, oh, we're.

Going to be losing all our jobs.

Flat screen panels will be. Will go away. There'll be some kind of, you know, like the headsets that we have now. I'm a big believer in VR, but the technology is not really there. Yet it's still too clunky and heavy and annoying in many ways. But it will eventually come down to, like, a pair of glasses like this or even contact lenses, where you're just like, holodeck time. We'll get there.

I mean, I do.

I believe it.

I believe the technology will be there, but I think the technology has to fit within, like, social circumstances. That's why I think, like, the flat screen television is ever going away, because, like, you need something to sit, like, you know, to have in front of you while you're sitting next to somebody else.

I feel like people aren't. I don't know when or if people can be at a place where you're just sitting next to each other, both with, like, AR glasses on and watching the same thing, like, just put up a tv.

Well, I think we'll get there. I mean, a lot. Again, a lot of things that seem very quaint to us now from, like, the 80s and 90s are going to the things that we now consider cutting edge are going to seem very quaint to the next generation.

But, like. So when we bought a PS5 Pro recently, so the original launch, fatty disc drive model, which is the. I didn't want the disk drive model, but it's the only one I could get at the time. Can you remember, they were hard to find for a long time. PlayStation fives, we finally took that and I moved it into the bedroom so we can have a, you know, a console back there. But Leah, my wife, she hates the look of it so much. When we first got it, she was like, look, if you want to have that in the room and fine, but we're going to. We're going to get like a new AV cabinet where you can, like, hide it behind something. Because that thing is, like, so offensive to my aesthetic sensibilities. And so we, like. We hid it away and now that it's in the bedroom, I went out and bought some of those replacement plates. I got just, like the black plates for it because we have like a black, like, TV cabinet thing in the. In the bedroom.

And I just made it, like, super. Like now it just, like, kind of disappears and it's less offensive. But looking at it now, having seen, and I guess it's true with a lot of consoles, when they do, like, the Slimmer version. You go back, look at the original go man.

I mean the Xbox series X is chonky, but it doesn't bother me because it's like. It's just very inoffensive in its design. It's just a cuboid. Right. That's all it is.

Honestly, I think I prefer that to the try hard. You know, Finn, we're going to over design everything. I mean really what was interesting about the aesthetic is that they went in like completely diametrically opposite directions. Right. Xbox was like as simple as possible.

Xbox. I look at it and I'm like I could use this as a weapon. Whereas like the PlayStation 5. I look at this and I'm like this is going to become sentient and take over the world.

Black Myth Wukong grabs a surprise Game of the year win at the Golden Joysticks. This is Oli Welsh at Polygon. Black Myth Wukong, the debut game from Chinese developer Game Science, has swept past the likes of astrobot, Final Fantasy 7, Rebirth and Helldivers 2 to claim the title of ultimate game of the year at the UK's Golden Joystick Awards. Final Fantasy 7, Rebirth and Helldivers 2 were the biggest winners of the night, taking home four trophies apiece. Helldivers 2 won both critics choice award and console game of the year. PC game of the year was satisfactory and best game expansion was Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree Game of the year front runner Astrobot had to make do with best audio design and studio of the year for its developer team Asoby, while critical darling Metaphor e Fantasio went home empty handed. Boom.

Too many good games. Something. You know, it's one of those things that like, well, that shouldn't have been nominated. This should have been nominated. But then you're like, okay, but what do you take out to make room for it? You know, it's like everything's so good.

Yeah. And like I think this is an interesting tone setter, I think for the future award shows. Right. Like the game awards and other stuff that's coming up. Because I predicted, I think Barrett, Barrett or maybe maybe Andy for like the game awards predictions predicted that Metaphori Fantasia was going to take the whole thing. Take Game of the Year. Barrett shrugging I think it was maybe me and Andy. Yeah.

And the game awards is different and I know a lot of people don't really know how that all works. But there is a fan vote for the game awards which carries a 10% weight of the full vote. Most of the Vote is weighted towards the games, media industry, the elites, the 1%, which includes people from. Which includes outlets from all around the globe.

And I know it's very capitalist when you think about it, isn't it? It's like, you know, the elite 1% making accounting for 90% of the decision making.

Yeah, but like that's award shows, right?

We're going to talk about this with this because Black Myth winning game of the year, right? Like, I feel like we're talking about what ends up being a popularity contest at some point.

I said to you before the show, as we were talking about, I said, I said, what won overall game of the year? And you said, black Myth Wukong. I was like, oh, is it really that good? And you without hesitation just said, no.

Yeah, I think it's good. I don't think it's good enough for a game of the year in the year that we've had.

Good enough to be nominated, but not to win.

I think good enough to where, I understand a nomination, but I think winning over things like Astrobot, over things like Metaphor, Refantasio over Final Fantasy 7, Rebirth.

And Helldivers don't give it its flowers.

And Balatro, for that matter. Right?

But I could, I could see it being nominated. I wouldn't nominate myself, but I like a nomination. I totally get a win. That's where I'm like, all right, I guess. But I think when you're talking about something that is fan voted, I understand. Because this was one of, if not the most popular game of the year.

What. Okay, I'm not going to ask you what I, what you think is the best game of the year or what should win of the, of the, of the games that are in the mix. And it's always, it always ends up being like the same five, six, seven games with minor deviation between one award ceremony and another. Which, which overall winner do you think would cause the least controversy? Where people would just go, yeah, fair enough.

It's great. You can't argue against it. And like, here's the thing, right? It's been fun following game awards reactions because there's been a particular reaction with Balatro where it was announced as a game award nominee and a lot of people were like, oh, fucking card game. Oh, why Would you. Why would this be nominated over xyz? And then like, it's the same bullshit.

But then days later, like, the same people will then come out and be like, hey, guys, I played Bellachio.

Now we're right. I've seen the light.

It takes. Give somebody Bellacho and be like, hey, just play it. I'll give you an hour. Just play for an hour. Guess what? They're going to play for five hours. They're going to come out of the cave and be like, oh, I get it. This is.

This is why I generally keep my mouth shut around awards season. Because I very rarely. I've only played like, of the five or six games that are nominated, I've only played a couple. So, like, I can't say this or doesn't this does or doesn't deserve it because I haven't played the game. Yeah, it's the same. It's the same with everyone. Like, play before you have an opinion. Play the fucking game.

And. Well, here's where I come down on Astrobot being the least offensive is. I think it both hits. As far as it being a game that people recognize for the kind of game it is. It's a third person platformer or. Yeah, it's a third. It's a third person platform 3D platformers. Why?

What I mean, it's a story genre, right?

Story genre is coming from PlayStation first party. It's very polished. It is technically a fantastic game and then also creatively a fantastic game.

It's suitable for everyone, right? Every.

It's just an easy game to like. Like, what's not to like?

It checks.

But I look at something like, if I'm taking that right, and I'm looking at Black Myth, which I will put on the side of it is a game that presents really well. Gorgeous cutscenes, gorgeous visuals, has combat that like. Yeah, it's all about. As far as, like, it being the more difficult souls, like, you know, leaning type of thing. Black Myth, Wukong has all the characteristics of game of the year as far as the type of game it is. Balatro has the fucking quality. And that's where I. I think that's where, you know, we come down on Astrobot being the least offensive. Is that like, it's the best of both worlds. You look at it and you're like, oh, that's something that could be game of the year, but yeah, I think Bellacho has the stuff. It backs it up. Black Myth Wukong, I think has places where I can ding it here and there. Right. I'm not in love with the, with the black myth Wukong combat.

What do you think would be the most controversial? Do you think it would be Balatro because of the lo fi.

No, I know what the most controversial is. What would it be at least for the game awards, what would it be? Elden Ring, Shadow of the Year.

Oh, right, because of the dlc. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just about the nomination of that. Right. Golden Joysics put it in its own category, right?

Yeah, Golden Joy. So I didn't even finish reading the article, so the article continues. Indie favorite Balatro won two awards. The result is something of a shock in the game of the year race. Though popular with gamers, Black Myth didn't review as well as some of his competition. While the majority of its huge sales success comes from the Chinese market, unlike other gaming awards, most categories in the golden joysticks are 100% determined by public vote. So Black Myth's win indicates just how activated its fanbase is. The game's solid action gameplay and cutting edge spectacular visuals have clearly won it broad support. The Golden Joystick Awards is a venerable British institution that has been around in one form or another since 1983. The first game of the year winner was Jetpack by Ultimate Play of the Game, the studio that would later become Rare.

We don't. We don't because a lot of people don't know their history. I think it's only when like the Rare Classics Arcade compilation came out and I was very glad to see they did include all of the old Ultimate 60. All the Ultimate Play the game Saberwolf, Night Law, the World, Jetpack, Attic Attack, Lunar Jetman.

Like they've been around forever and yeah, they're putting out classics.

They've been for so long.

They went into the Super Nintendo era and made the Donkey K Country games and like they made Killer Instinct and more. You then hop into the MC4 era and they were like, they're the one developer that I think kept up with Nintendo themselves as far as quality releases.

Yeah, I mean they were like, they were like the insomniac of, of to the Nintendo for that era. Right. Or Naughty Dog. They were like the, the biggest third.

Party is carried by Nintendo games and Rare games. Like you remove rare from the equation, the NCD4 gets a lot more boring. Right. Like yeah, you, you miss out on. Yeah, like Banjo, Golden Eyed, Perfect Dark.

I should do it on stream just for fun. I haven't streamed in ages. So I put my stream back together and last night I was playing off stream and I was like. So I was. I'm a level 149 right now and I can tell like there's a little sliver of XP left.

So, yeah, Black myth Wukong wins. I think I titled this episode the first game of the year mainly because the golden joysticks is like, I think the first like major. Oh, this is, this is one of consequence here. And like to go back to the earlier point, right. Barrett made the good point that like, this is fan voted and so like, you know, that is a very big determining factor on how this wins this game of the year. But I do still think Black myth.

Wukong, I will say, no matter how you feel about it, I think the one thing that we can all agree upon, it has a very big and active fan base on the Internet that pays attention. But here's the thing, whenever it is mentioned, here's the thing that is all I mean is say about it.

I mean, it's not dangerous territory, like, fuck them. But also, I think it's more so.

And you see that with the Star wars fandom. You see it with all over. A few rotten apples in the barrel can, like, really stink up.

Oh, you see that with, like, even Rick and Morty, right? Yeah. Like, there's so many IPS out there that, like, might be good IPs that might have great stuff. Great stuff to it. I'm somebody who. I like Stellar Blade a lot, but the same exact fan base that latch themselves on to Black myth to fight against the woke. Guess what? They did the same thing with Stellar Blade. But most people who like Stellar Blade probably don't give a fuck about, like, what those people are talking about. They just want to play in action.

My point, even in the chat right now, I can see that some people are throwing their toys out of the pram already. They've been triggered because we've dared say this, like, oh, you've proven my point right now.

I. It's just, I feel like there's a very, very online section of people who are paying attention to, you know, what. Whatever they can do to support Black myth in certain ways. And it's going to be this. To the point where I think, like, that 10 weight of the Game awards, I'm gonna say, like, I know it's like, the math isn't, like, fully correct here, but, like, I'm gonna say roughly 8% of that 10% is gonna be voting for black.

I. Yeah, I don't know. That's one of those ones where I don't know if I necessarily agree with, like, I think you're right as far as that. Those people are gonna be pushing for it. I think we're overestimating the power that those people have. I think blackmith is gonna get that push, but I think that's also because it sold 10 million sales in its first, like, three days.

These are people who are more, like, politically engaged. Right. It's like, a lot of the mainstream people aren't voting in the, like, games that they're not, like, I must support this game. I must go out on a limb to do everything to tell people how great this game is, but the people that love like Black Myth or you know, Stellar Blade or like games like this where there's like a very, very die hard fan base. Those guys go out and they go out and vote. Right? They're like, sure, yeah, I almost made a MAGA comparison. But like, I mean you definitely don't want to open that fucking door. But there's another.

I think the crowd that you're talking about. Yeah, like, I think that's an apt comparison. Right. Like I. Here's the thing, Gary. I guarantee you that the people that are, the people that are online that are like, I like Black Myth because it does. It's not woke and it doesn't, you know, give in to the woke media and all this stuff. Those are the same people that are, that are like far right. That are voting for Trump. Yeah, like that's.

To be clear, that's the point I'm trying to make is that I do think that this comes down to one, a gigantic audience in China and also a gigantic audience around the world who doesn't just live in China. Right. Like, like the game has a lot of players and a lot of people love this game. And the point I make to it is the fact that a lot of times it's a popularity contest more so than even just a quality contest. I think you need a bit of both for like Game of the Year and shit like that.

But like I think Black Myth, when you, when you're talking about popularity has it and yeah, there is a group of people that are toxic that are like, you know, using this as the flagship title for anti woke and fuck those people. Yeah. But I do think that it comes down to popularity.

I do think there's another great point here and I don't know if they're making it for or against me, but I'm going to use it for big in the YouTube chat says. I mean look at Harry Potter last year most of the people that bought it didn't go online. And watch reviews either way. And that's the thing is that like just because blackmith had a lot of concurrence and a lot of sales in China doesn't mean all of those people are online and care about award shows that are happening in England and in America and stuff. So that's just like why I think about these other factors.

And also I don't want to. I'm not trying to take anything away from Black Myth. It is by all accounts what you said. No, but like it is a supposedly a very good game if you're into like soulsborne games. It's a good example of that the.

I said I said it One game of the year I was like is it really that good? And you said no when and you. And so not good enough to be game of the year.

That's the thing is I'm answering to the fact that is it that is it the best game of the year? And I'll say confidently no right. Like that's a game that if I for me who played I guess maybe half right. I think I got like halfway through chapter three people who people watch me on stream play it. So like whatever the last stream was that I did with Andy that was the DLSS thing that's like where I dropped off. So I think that's probably around maybe 40% of the game for what I played. If I was going to put a number on it I'd be like oh this is an 8 out of 10, maybe 7.5 like somewhere around that it's a good to great video game. I don't think it's a one of the best action games I've ever played. Which for me is what I reserve to a 10 out of 10 experience eldering like you know Sekiro Shadows Die Twice I guess games made by FromSoftware. Like there's a tier of action game that I'm like oh this is a 10 out of 10 and Black Wukong just wasn't that for me. But it does do really cool things.

The backlash to Erdtree has been interesting to me as a neutral observer because I never really got into Elden Ring but like the year that it won it pretty much ran the table right. Like it was unopposed pretty much. It just absolutely destroyed and pretty. It was like there was no controversy about Elden Ring like winning all these awards. Everyone agreed that it was one of the best games.

I mean except for the God of War Audience, you know what I mean?

Well, yeah, then that was. Because that was the other one at the time. But, like. And yet to go from that, where there was so much goodwill and so much overwhelming consensus, to now, the dlc, which I get, I understand, is very, very, very, very good as well. Right.

Now. But to see that get nominated, everyone goes swings hard the other way. Oh, that's outrageous. How dare you nominate that? It's just because it's dlc. I don't know where I stand on this. It just interested to see the pendulum swing back so hard the other way.

I'm somebody who. I think before this whole conversation, I was very. I've always been very much in the mind of, like, yeah, DLC should be nominated for Game of the Year. And it's, you know, especially if it's substantial, if it's impactful, if it's legitimately best.

Now, I'm. I've also read a lot of the Internet in the last week as far as people's reaction to this, and I think I've swung into the gray area of, man. A lot of people who I respect and see as agreeable people feel very strongly about this thing.

I think of the scenario where Elden Ring keeps getting dlc, and guess what? Elden Ring keeps being Game of the Year. Now I'm somebody who's like, I don't think it matters that much Right. At the end of the year. At the end of the year, at the end of the day, Game of the Year, it's a subjective thing. It's voted on by who is voted on, and somebody establishes the rules. So if Geoff Keighley is, like, dlc is eligible. Guess what? DLC is eligible. And, like, that should just be it. If another outlet is like, and then.

And then may the best game win.

And this is where I think this might be a disagreeing argument. Right. With us. I think that when you're putting on a show, when you're putting on a thing, right. When you're making content, to some extent, you have to appeal to the people that are watching and consuming that thing. So if there's like half the people that are watching the game awards and they're mad that DLC is being nominated for Game of the Year, maybe you have to change it and be like, all right, cool. DLC doesn't get nominated. Right. Like, part of it is you have to appeal to your face, to your audience base, even if they're wrong to some extent, even if you disagree, if it makes everybody mad, guess what? Like, we had to change something. We can't just keep doing it this way.

Let me. Let me go into Jeff Goldblum in Jurassic park mode, if I may. I'll tell you the problem with the system that you have here. It tried and all get in all awards have this. And I think games for some reason particularly like. It's particularly thorny. But film, television, you name it, all kind of awards can have this issue. It forces you to categorize games into boxes in an art form in which many games defy that kind of easy characterization. Right. And it's also true of film intelligence. Remember the Golden Globes when the Martian won for best musical or comedy?

But like, you know, we are in this position now where like, again, we're arguing over the fact had Tears of the Kingdom been or God of War Ragnarok been released as is, but as DLC where you needed the original game to play, or if Erdtree had been released, released as Elden Ring 2 or Elden Ring 1.5 or whatever. It's a standalone release.

That somehow means we have to view it differently. I don't understand how the manner of delivery, like if you fix our critical appraisal of it.

And I would straight up tell you that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree is like a newer. Not newer is not the right term, but I guess like Shadow of the Air Tree feels more like a new substantial. It's a more substantial. Here's a content drop the Miles. And that's not me trying to take away from Miles or hit on Miles.

If Ragnarok had won and someone wanted to play Ragnarok because it won Game of the Year, it's like, all right, well, you do have to go play God of War 2018 first to then play Ragnarok again. But then the Xbox version didn't come and then people were.

There were rumors that Sony did, but.

Like, I think it's one of those scenarios where they just couldn't get it running on Xbox yet and so they wanted to wait for it. I assume maybe that's what they're talking about here. Unless there is a tinfoil hat Sony thing, then we might see it.

I mean, I mean Sony are very protective with their exclusives. Much Xbox seems to be adopting a very kumbaya like well, you know, we're not even ruling out, you know, Halo and Forza on PlayStation like and it's all up for grabs and they are bringing some of their big games that they Own and could make exclusive if they want to to PlayStation.

But PlayStation seemed to be much more like, no, these are my toys and no one else gets to play with.

In a statement given to me by a Microso representative, the company has confirmed that the delay of Black Myth Wukong is not due to technical issues with Xbox platforms and instead, similar to its original statement, points to outside platform slash developer deals.

Yeah. So I do think you can make it run on the series X, right? There isn't. There isn't anything.

Yeah, yeah. I was gonna say worst case scenario, series S might be the thing holding them back. And Xbox wants things to be parody between S and X. And like, they're not gonna ever let you just release the game on X and not release it on S. I.

I think this came up with Baldur's Gate as well, when this was an issue. And I asked the same question at the time. Do you think if. So you can have it, but it's going to have to be the first game you've ever released where it says like, X only. No, you think they would rather not have Black Myth Wukong on their platform if it meant drawing that line in the sand.

I think they would. I think Phil or whoever high up there would sit down with game science and they would go, what is. What are the features that we need to take out to make this work on S? Right. I think you get like a pared down version because that's what happened with Baldur's Gate 3.

But that's not A great look either. Is it like, one of the. One of the nice things about the S is because I watch all these digital foundry breakdowns and they're really interesting. Is like the S usually isn't that big a step down. Like, it's a step down, but it's not like, oh, it's not like the Switch version of Mortal Kombat or something. It's like, this is just shit. Like they generally not as good, but they're still viable.

And I just wonder if there's like, it's not a good look for the series S if a game would have come out. And it's like, they shouldn't have released this.
