to patreon.com kinda funny today in the nerdy news you need to know about, we were this close to a Blue point remake of Bloodborne. Sony Santa Monica is working on a new franchise with within the God of War universe. And there's a Nintendo indie world showcase tomorrow. We'll evolve this and more because this is Kinda Funny Games Daily. What's up everybody? Welcome to Kinda Funny Games daily for Monday, March 2, 2026. I'm one of your hosts, Greg Miller, alongside the man who owes me an apology, Snowbike Mike.
C
Good morning and happy Monday, Greg Miller. We will kick off today's show with an apology. Hi Greg, it's Mike. And also part partly Roger. Mainly Roger.
B
Okay.
C
He gave the green light. We apologize for breaking embargo on Friday and ruining the show.
A
What about then in the buzz, you know, editing it together so I look even worse. And then you have a half assed apology from you and Roger at the end of what about.
C
A lot of people are saying that it was your fault.
A
Actually I went into the YouTube comments on the buzz. Yeah. And everybody, if you aren't aware on YouTube now you can leave voice memos as response to comments. And I am fucking leaving voice memos all over the goddamn buzz. All right? I what? This is the thing. Y' all over here are playing checkers in the chat. Your comments. I'm playing chess. Snowbike Mike comes out here on a stream. We're doing reveal goes to. They're recording the buzz goes to reveal. Embargoed information throws it to me and in my in nanoseconds. So like flash like speed. Y' all are fucking snails. I'm the flash. I Go. Well, if I say it's embargoed or redacted right now, Lazy ass Roger and dumbass Mike aren't gonna edit into the buzz later.
C
True.
A
With actual information. So then all week long, something that would have been revealed on Saturday would be, it's embargoed. It's embargoed.
C
Tainted. It just tanked it.
A
So I powered through.
C
Yeah, you did.
A
Everybody saying I broke the embargo. You did it. You put me in an unwinnable situation.
C
Sometimes they say it's winnable.
A
Then Kevin Smith cancels.
C
Unbelievable.
A
Then the buzz goes out and everybody's like, so clearly they're joking about him canceling. No, Kevin Smith really canceled. Not because of the embargo breaking, just because of his schedule. But no, do not expect Kevin Smith on the podcast tomorrow. I'm trying to get the fuck off the podcast. It was going to be a pre reported podcast. I'm booked. Fucking just shit. Tomorrow Nick can talk to whoever Nick knows. Comedy people.
C
Yeah, he'll talk.
A
Nick, just call your brother. I don't know what's going on.
C
Big, how are you?
A
I'm great. How are you?
C
Happy Monday.

Happy Monday.
C
You're fighting through the cough again. You did well. No, you fought through that one though.
A
The cough is just that nagging beast that's around. I got the inhaler from the doctor, I got the antibiotics from the doctor. I feel way better. But I still occasionally go into this cough situation and I still got it right up here. It's not even the cough now, it's just the congestion up here. Week five of this fucking whatever. This is how we can. My weekend was great. Hung out with Ben, hung out with Jen, Got can finally say it played way. Just played more and more and more. Thank you, Barrett. Procopia review today on gamescast, myself, Joey, and the big man, VGC News is Jordan Midler. Whoa. Nice to talk about Pocopia, but yeah, I mean if I wasn't with the family, I was playing Pocopia.

Trying to get as many hours on the clock there as I could.
C
A lot of good review scores for that.
A
Will mine be one of them?
C
Very exciting.
A
One of them. We'll find out. Not on this show because this is kind of funny. Games daily, each and every weekday we run you through the nerdy news you need to know about live. Super chat, YouTube, dot com kindafunny games. You Super Chat. You can be part of the show. Just like Nightlife did when they Super Chat and said fire Roger, please. Here's the thing that would be letting him off too easy. You know, I go by the Paris Schneider method. I'll make his life a living fucking hell, you know what I mean? He will regret everything he's ever done. And that's the thing is like, when Roger came in here, I thought he was one of my guys, you know what I mean? But now he's got too big for his britches.
C
Yeah, yeah.
A
You know what I mean? Shaved the head, lost all this weight. Now he thinks he can just fucking run the shit. I don't like it. One second. Still Mike.
C
Mike taking him to a basketball game tonight.
A
Is that the one Andy want to go to?
C
Yeah. Andy, that's insane. I can't believe I'm mad.
A
Hey, our friend got us box seats for the warriors game. And Andy looks you dead in the eye, goes, well, the spurs aren't playing, so I don't want to go. What the fuck is wrong with Andy?
C
Free hot dogs, free Tony's pizza in the box, free drinks. I respect it. I'm going to be honest.
A
Yeah, Barry, you would. Of course.
C
That's crazy.
A
It'd be like saying the hot mulligans are playing, but everybody who's in the hot mulligans isn't there. Yeah, great example. Really nailed that one question. Everybody see the laugh still, cough, let it out and then. How's it going? I'm Cohen says Mike is innocent in a super chat.
C
Thank you. Thanks a lot.

C
Yeah.
A
Number one on the Rope Report is a lengthy one, but you got nowhere to be. Sony's Blue Point pitched bloodborne remake before closure. This is the one, the only Jason Schreier the Schrei guy at Bloomberg Last week, Sony announced the closure of Bluepoint Games, an Austin based subsidiary behind acclaimed remakes like Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus. Around 70 people will lose their jobs, although Sony is giving them opportunities to apply for positions at other studios within the organization. The decision came just five years after Sony purchased bluepoint, a period a period during which the studio failed to release a game of its own. How did Sony executive Herman Hulse go from writing in 2021 that blue points vast expertise in world building and character creation will be a huge plus for future PlayStation Studios properties to shutting down the studio? The answer is a little complicated. Parentheses Sony declined to comment beyond the statement it sent last week following the purchase, bluepoint continued its work helping Sony's Santa Monica studio with the development of God of Ragnarok, which released in 2022. After that, the newly acquired PlayStation Studio had ambitions to make its own game rather than co developing or remaking games made by other companies. At the time, Sony was all in on live service games, games designed for continual monetization after launch. One of those Games would be Bluepoint's first original title under PlayStation, a live service game in the God of War franchise, which the organization hoped could support several sequels and spinoffs. Like its own smaller version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bluepoint began working on a game in which the character Atreus would fall into Hades. According to people familiar with the project, Aloof's idea was for players to control different versions or aspects of Atreus as they battled through Greek Hell and to have some sort of cooperative gameplay and ongoing support. Although much of the game's design was in flux, it was an awkward fit for the studio, which hadn't released an original game since 2006 and had never tried to develop a live service game. Bluepoint was a small team that mostly had expertise in art and engineering, not design. Developing a game that hooks players for the long haul is a challenge that even the most experienced studios have struggled to conquer. Some bluepoint staffers grumbled that they should be working on another traditional action game like Demon's Souls or God of War Ragnarok, rather than a live service project that few of them seem to want to make. Even with the help from Sony Santa Monica, bluepoint struggled to make much progress and spent several years floundering. In January 2025, Sony canceled the God of War live service game. When we broke the news, a company spokesperson told me that Sony was, quote unquote, working closely with bluepoint to determine its next project. There was one idea, Mike, that seemed perfect. Bloodborne, a gothic action game released in 2015 for PlayStation 4. Developed by FromSoftware, Bloodborne is widely considered to be one of the greatest games ever made, but its original release suffered from frame rate drops and other technical issues, making it the natural fit for the bluepoint treatment. Fans had dreamed of a Bloodborne remake for years, and the idea had been strongly considered at one point, and at one point was even expected within Bluepoint, but never entered production. In early 2025, when Bluepoint again pitched the idea of Bloodborne remake, the studio was told that the numbers made sense, but FromSoftware didn't want it to happen, according to people familiar with the process. Here's where it gets really Spicy. Oh former PlayStation executive Shuhei Yoshida shared a theory last year that this might be the case, saying in an interview with Kind of Funny Games that he thought FromSoftware President and I always get this one. Miyazaki was interested in making the classic game, but too busy to do it himself and quote unquote, doesn't want anyone else to touch it. He added that he thought PlayStation would respect his wishes despite owning the franchise. Faced with the rejection of the remake that made the most sense, bluepoint had to whip something else up. The studio spent some time pitching an updated version of Shadow the colossus, the classic PlayStation 2 game that Bluepoint had previously remade in 2018 for PlayStation 4, but Sony turned it down. Still burning to make an original game, Bluepoint pitched other PlayStation studios on developing new projects in other franchises, such as a spinoff for Ghost of Tsushima, but nothing was greenlit. Some of the other studios, which have already been facing heavy financial pressure in recent years, were concerned about dedicating significant resources to another team's project, according to people familiar with their thinking. By February of this year, bluepoint had gone more than a year without securing a new project. On February 12, when Sony announced plans to remake the original God of War trilogy without bluepoint's involvement, some employees at the studio began to grow uneasy. Exactly one week later, they got news that bluepoint was shutting down. Behind the scenes, Sony no longer thought bluepoint was equipped to make its own game and couldn't find a partnership that made sense, according to people familiar with the company's thinking. It's a tragic end for a game studio that was acclaimed for its technical and artistic proficiency. Bluepoint's 2020 remake of Demon's Souls, which scored a stellar 92 on the review aggregator site Metacritic was a launch title for PlayStation 5, selling 1.4 million copies in its first year and helping move Sony's new console. In recent days, as Bluepoint's former staffers hunted for jobs and tried to figure out what was next, other companies were making phone calls to see if there might be a way to salvage the studio elsewhere. According to people familiar, the prospect may be unlikely, but Bluepoint's technical expertise remains respected across the industry. Michael, I talked a very long time there.
C
Yes, you did, Greg.
A
But again, the headline that we almost got Bloodborne remake, interesting. Going through the nuts and bolts of what happened here. Heartbreaking and possibly, you know, definitely the bigger story.
C
Yeah, I mean, very heartbreaking. It looks like they were gonna, you know, throw that Hail Mary and was just hoping for somebody to catch it. And unfortunately, it seems like Miyazaki and From software. From software don't want to do that. And it's an odd one. It's an interesting conversation to be had, right. This is one of the most requested PlayStation games to be brought back into the modern day, Right? They want. Want this game so bad. You had a team that was really dedicated and dialed in on remaking games like this. Demon Souls in particular, already worked with that team. Why Bloodborne? Why was it so special? And then to hear the news that it does seem like Miyazaki and the team probably don't want somebody else remaking that game.
A
Of course, the reasoning here is you don't want to kill the golden goose. Okay. Bloodborne, of course, the game. PlayStation owns an IP. PlayStation owns and would like to do more with. Yes, but from software, it's still the top of the game. And so is it really worth going against their wishes? A studio that is led by Miyazaki, right. That has this cred, that has this fandom. You piss him off and it's like, cool, I will then sign the next one exclusively with Xbox, Epic Games Store or whatever. And whether, you know, not Bloodborne, but the next Souls game. Right, of course. And I don't think that's what PlayStation wants to get into. They don't want to get in the way of that, especially right now as we see Xbox on the decline, the run, the rebuilding years of this franchise, like, PlayStation's got a great thing going, so don't fuck it up. When you have one of the auteurs of the video game industry.
C
I love that, Greg, and I totally agree with that. I guess the interesting conversation to go deeper on is like, why not, right? Why does Miyazaki not want this to be remade at this time. Why not help out?
A
I think probably because he wants to do it. Well, my take on it is like he's made his thing and that's his thing. And he loves that project so much. From Software. Loves that so much. They don't want to turn it over to somebody else and have them do it.
C
I mean, why not work closely with Blue Point then, right? If you don't. If you want your team to only do it. You got such a talented team with Blue Point, while you're also currently making what will probably be the next Elden Ring, Dark Souls esque. What is Duskbloods? Why not have a third game going on with a really dedicated team? We've seen Todd Howard work with Machine Games on making Indiana Jones. Yeah, it's interesting. He doesn't want to work closely with. With another talented team like that.
A
I think you kind of fall into a little bit of what we read through here. Not the financial woes of it necessarily, but like, hey, could we do a Ghost of Tsushima spinoff? And they're like, well, no, like we have to do our own thing. We don't want to have the brain drain of worrying about your project and your lore and your whatever and da da da da.
C
Of course.
A
I think that's really what it comes down to.
C
We're.
A
We're all hands on deck. Like you're talking about. Like there already is another exclusive coming from FromSoft that isn't going to PlayStation. They're working on that. They are obviously working on whatever's next for their big souls titles.
C
Yeah. I mean, a massive miss, unfortunately for PlayStation Blue Point in particular now that whole studio getting laid off right there. And it really probably was hinting a lot on like, can we get this bloodborne project going?
A
Right?
C
It seems like they pitched it early. Then they went on to the live service track and then had the one more Hail Mary was like that kind of was the game that. It seems like that studio was waiting for it. Odd. There was no other projects. We couldn't go back to an Uncharted one and remake that. Right.
A
This is poor management by PlayStation. Why. Why do you hire the guys who make chocolate cakes and then task them with making a strawberry Twinkie? What are we fucking talking about? Why would you do this? It's like buying us like, all right, cool. Don't make videos anymore. Right? Like, what are you talking about? My kids see the keyboard? He had fucking coffee all over his keyboard. What are you talking about? No, no.
C
It's unfortunate and yeah, that is highly mismanaged, Greg. And that will be a story that will be. Go down for a long time. Bloodborne then trapped on the PS4.
A
Yep.
C
With everything that. All the baggage it has, good and bad. When do you think you see a Bloodborne remake for Miyazaki then Fromsoft.
A
I mean, here's the other thing, too. What about Bloodborne 2? I think that would also be part of the reasoning here, right. Of like, hey, I don't want you to remake Bloodborne because eventually I want to bend you over that goddamn barrel PlayStation and get my goddamn paycheck for making you a Bloodborne 2. Think that's another. He wants the audience starving for it so that. What? And I'm not. That sounds very capitalistic and just that.
C
Yeah.
A
But I do think for whatever they made Bloodborne for, I'm sure they can get a lot more now. And as they continue to rock the fucking world with Souls likes I think they're gonna be, or Souls games generally, not likes you're making. Yeah, you know what I mean? That you'd be able to get out there and crush it. Kebab says, did Miyazaki know his choice would kill Blue Point? No, I doubt that. And even still, I don't think this sounds very callous. That's not his problem to worry about Blue Point and PlayStation's problem in this industry. No, no. You got to do what's best for. I think you're back to you got to do what's best for your company. Of course, like right now, kind of funny, right? If somebody was like, hey, we want to go do the kind of funny podcast without you guys, but have it like, well, no, that's one of our seven most successful shows. I can't let you have that. I'm sorry. You know what I mean? You understand the bad analogy. It's back to the hot mulligans. But you don't understand. I'm saying, like, you got to look out for your team and your people and go that way with it.
C
So as of right now, we know you have Dust Bloods. You probably have something else in the works. Then we wait.
A
Yeah.
C
Okay.
A
Until you see this.
C
Lot of great games.
A
Back to it, though. Just again, the mismanage of the PlayStation bringing them in. You're gonna make a live service game. Bringing them in and not explaining to them you're only making remakes.
C
Yeah.
A
We've never seen you guys make an original game. We don't want to take that shot. That's not what you are here to do Uncharted in Medieval and what you know, I mean all these fucking go you're making. You're redoing every game, every class go look at PlayStation All Stars battle Royale. Who do you want to make something? Who you want to make a new ape escape? Go for it.
C
The timing and the thought process was everything has to be live service. The single player games aren't making us enough money. Let's figure that out. And I mean how'd that work out? Jim Ryan bring up the list of many studios that have been closed Dead
A
Dead Dead Dead Dead Scarlet super chats and says it's frustrating to me that some people act like Bluepoint is entitled to bloodborne as an IP from software owes them nothing. Sony is entirely at fault for this. A loaded of the motion thing there. Yes. I don't know if it's that they're entitled to it, it's what they do best. And as an audience that wants to see that game remade, you'd want to go to the best studio which now no longer exists because as you say, this isn't PlayStation's fault, this is Sony's fault.
C
I mean It's a top three PlayStation franchise there that you would want brought back into the modern era.
A
Yeah.
C
You buy the team that makes the best remakes in the game.
A
Yeah.
C
That's going to be one of the most highly requested games on the on the list.
A
Yep.
C
Inside and outside the studio I'm sure.
A
100%. Michael, would you have been at all interested in Atreus going to hell?
C
Hey, no, no, not at all.
A
Ask a question.
C
We're going to talk about the next story here and I don't know how I feel about this next one.
A
Number two on the roper aboard. Sony Santa Monica Studio is quote working on a new franchise within the God of War universe. This is Andy Robinson at vgc. Barrett out there shooting his shot because he said this on the psi. Oh no, the Gamecast that was like a PS I love you where you reviewed God of War. What we wanted from God of War, you were right here.
D
I yeah, I pulled the Jason Schreier code. If it's not a new ip, it's just going to be made to feel like a new ip. I shot my shot. It's still going to be in the God of War universe just with a different character I guess the wrong character but I was 90.
C
Oh nice.
A
We move into Andy Robinson's reporting at VGC News.
C
Get it out.
A
Sony Santa Monica Studio is working on a new franchise within The God of War universe, according to LinkedIn profile of a former writer as spotted by Reset Era. The writer claims they spent five years up to last September helping, quote, shape narrative vision and creative direction at Sony Santa Monica Studio for a new franchise within the God of War universe, developing characters, storylines and original lore that expanded the acclaimed ip. End quote. The post matches with claims made by Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the shy guy who wrote in a recent story that PlayStation at one point intended to, quote, support several God of War sequels and spinoffs, like its own smaller version of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, end quote. We just read that. We love that synergy. Sony Santa Monica Studios Try again there. Sony Santa Monica Studios last major project was 2022's God of War Ragnarok Sony Santa Monica creative director Cory bar, who helmed 2018's God of War but stepped aside for the sequel, is understood to be working on an unannounced project. Notably last month, God of War actor Christopher Judge claimed that his next game would be announced this summer, fueling speculation that it could be Sony Santa Monica Studios next big title. Santa Monica is currently celebrating God of War's 20th anniversary via various initiatives, most notably a brand new 2D game that was Shadow, dropped last month during its State of Play announcement. During the same live stream, the developer also revealed that a God of War trilogy remake is in early development. Quote, we ask for your patience as it will be a while before anything else can be shared. It said, quote, when we can come back with an update, we aim to make it a big one. End quote.
C
Let's talk about it, Greg.
A
Let's talk about it.
C
So interesting. I wanted to shout out Christopher Judge. Of course we talked about it on kind of funny Games Daily. A couple of weeks ago was at a Comic Con got was talking to a guest camera angle little bit away from this. So maybe he didn't know, but he did talk about I'm going to be in the next one and they talked about new action style. So that was pretty cool that like we had that conversation and possibly this summer.
A
Do you believe it? You think it's this summer?
C
I think this summer I think we're celebrating a big mark in the God of War franchise. I believe it's a large anniversary.
A
Yeah.
C
Yeah. And so you had Sons of Sparta already. You know, God of War trilogy, that's a ways away for sure. I think this is a big hit this summer, especially for the PlayStation lineup to be like, hey, another God of War here. Could be end of the year, could be next year but that goes well with the flow of where we're at right now.
A
Do you get excited for a spinoff? I mean, so this is, you know, it's another. It's a new IP within the God of War franchise.
C
I mean. Yeah, of course. Right. The God of War franchise has built up a really cool mythos of a lot of awesome characters that I would like to get to know and see more of. It depends on what the character is. We did get some leaks and some talk about that. Some rumors of that.
A
Give it to me. I don't. I don't know what this is.
C
Faye.
A
It was Faye. Okay.
C
It would be Fay the Giant. That's Kratos's second wife.
A
Yeah.
C
And I'm just trying to give you Deborah.
A
Well, no, no. Deborah Ann Wilson. She's from Daredevil. She's True Blood.
C
And so, yeah, you'd have that character with a new action style. What is that action system? Right. Because is it God of War 2018 with just maybe less puzzles and that kind of action? Is it more of an old school God of War? A lot more action at the forefront? Is it a souls like action? What does that really mean? Does that excite you, that character?
A
It doesn't not excite me.
C
Okay.
A
When you. When you jump in with that rumor and then I want to see the gameplay. What are we doing with her? Yeah, she's a fantastic actress they made. Not a big deal, but it was big news when she joined the game. So I was expecting a lot more flashbacks than what we got.
B
Okay.
A
Ragnarok of her. And then we didn't get that many. Still got the fucking banger line about grief. But I mean, like, I would have expected more. I think it's a great. That makes sense to implant her there to then go off and give your own thing. Sky super chats and says Faye game should be her fighting her way out of hell or Valhalla after her death. Sprinkle in some prequel for good measure. Barrett, how you feeling about this?
D
Yeah, initially the character kind of like left like, all right, what do we have? What story do we have to tell with this character? But also, I give the trust in if this is the project that Corey is working on to sell us on that. And like, if the plan is reveal it this year and it comes out next year, I, like, am willing to give myself up and to see what that vision is because they. They're a great team. They know what they're doing. So. Yeah, I'm also interested of, like, how accurate that Part of the leak is, as we knew for, or as we heard for a year, right, that this Metroidvania 2D God of War game was going to be you playing as Atreus, which was not the case. And so I, I do wonder like, if there also is like some mixed, like, you know, game of telephone there. Right?
A
But we'll see from the super chat. Yeah, Nova Phoenix says stellar. Faye, count me in. Bring Deborah back. You have to have Deborah back, okay? If you don't have Deborah, what's the point? You know, what's the point? Daredevil, True Blood.
C
It's gonna happen.
A
Let's get her. Name one more. I don't know her. IMDb she's in. Two great things. What do I need? You know what I mean?
D
You could have just pulled out Ragnarok.
A
That doesn't count, you know, then you would have made fun of me for that. You're always making fun of me. Loyal freak. Says, as much as I love God of War and I will always play them, I need Sony Santa Monica to make something besides God of War. We need a new IP from them. 20 years of nothing from them. Except this franchise is wild.
C
Wow.
A
How do you feel about that, Mr. Halo? Make more Halo. Here's the video.
C
I am on the train of make more God of War. Right? So I'm on the opposite side of that. I like the God of War franchise. I really like where it's gone, what it's reinvented themselves with. And so, yeah, I would like more and more Kratos Atreus, more stories in this universe. And even if it's a spin off with another character I don't know that much about. Yeah, more is better. I'm all about it. What about you?
A
Well, I go two different ways with it, right. Where I personally would love to see something new.
C
Okay.
A
But I also understand the business. And we see every day in this fucking show what happens when you stray from God in an established ip, right? If you aren't going to fucking double down. And again, PlayStation wants to make money. Your studio then is on the chopping block if you don't fucking put out a hit. So it's like when they were talking about, oh man, Cory Barlog's next game is going to be a sci Fi whatever thing. I was like, well, that sounds really cool and exciting. I'm not, not excited for this, but I feel like to some degree, all right, known quantity, it's going to be a God of War game, but it's not going to be creative. I Kind of still get what I'm getting and how it's going to go. I feel. I'm sure they'll prove me wrong. I will be excited about it. I will play it. I will probably love it.
C
Yeah.
A
But I would always like to see people stretch. I love that we went from Uncharted to Last of Us. How much now to Intergalactic.
C
How much longer do you go with God of War before you're like, hey, it is really time for something new. Are you at that point, I mean,
A
at this point, me personally or the world?
C
The world as well.
A
I mean, me personally, like, I feel like they've made just two bangers back to back. And so I don't want them to keep trying to double down and like, I don't know. That's not even true. If you got something to say, go make your game. Period. End statement. I just am always more excited for a new thing, I feel like, than, hey, we're going back to the well on this.
C
Of course it's very tough. Like you said, in today's, Today's age, it's very tough to go out, make a new IP that no one knows about when there's characters and stories that they love and they really double down on. We've seen the push for live service games, single player games. They need to hit. We've seen that, right? With the ballooning costs, how long it takes, it's got to hit. So if it does come out in something new, fresh, and it doesn't hit, then you got a major problem on your hands.
A
We have one. You're wrong. Nerdwell says God of War came out in March 2005. The 20th anniversary is last year. Sons of Sparta was the last part of the 20th celebration. I hear you, Nerd. Well, I assure you, if they announce a new God of War game this year, they're going to be like, it's 20 years ago. They're going to still really drive that marketing drum. We are still celebrating 20 years of God of War. We got some a lot of super chats. CJ splits on says, I hope the next game is a Loki, Prince of Persia with the gameplay changes. Okay, well, you won't get that, but I understand. It doesn't sound like you're ruined that way at all. Volkdasher says so I'm sure game will be top tier as expected. But do we think Team Corey had a game quietly internally canceled, or are we saying he spent seven to eight years on a spinoff? Barrett, bring me. Remind me right when he left and said I'm not. He didn't helm Ragnarok. He still helped guide the ship in Pre Pro.
D
Yeah. And I want to say he was, you know, still involved in some ways with writing and kind of being producer level.
A
Yeah.
D
And then yeah, Eric was the director on it, but I think, I think his maybe his title was still like creative director or something like that.
A
Yeah. I don't think he was like free and clear to just sit around and not do nothing from it. So.
D
And from my understanding, like, I don't know if Sony Santa Monica had another big team secretly working on a game for like a really long time while Eric and the. The team that we know was working on Ragnarok. I think it was like early, early pre, pre. Pre production. Corey thinking of like early ideas of what this next thing was. And now that you know, we see the. The team starting to. Or we saw the team in 2021, 2022 start to close the door on Ragnarok leading into its release. Now that we're looking at a 2026 reveal into a 2027 release. To me that actually adds up of like nothing, at least seemingly from the outside looking in. Nothing dramatic like that happening.
A
You know, Fair J Dublin says you don't want God of War to have the Magic the Gathering issue where there really so many things that it devalues the brand in series.
C
I don't think they're at that point yet. Right. We still have followed Kratos all the way through. Like we haven't even gotten to the point where it is all of a sudden. Atreus.
A
Let's not act like they didn't have two PSP games and an Ascension multiplayer game, God of War. I mean, I know they're on a upswing with the new world, of course.
C
And those are, those are old. Yes. I think old heads like you know that Greg. But like there's a lot of new people into the franchise that started with 2018. Right. And that are rediscovering or learning about Kratos. That's why we're remaking that trilogy.
A
Right.
C
And so I think you have some more time before you get to Magic the Gathering levels. It's like maybe introduce more characters and make us play as those guys.
A
Let me know if this sounds like Magic the gathering levels. Delaney 20 super chat and says tinfoil hat idea. What if Kratos has to go back to Greece and fight Zagreus from Hades? It could be a neat crossover opportunity and double up on IP like the actual like not you, the one from Supergiant. Like you want that version. Like that's the crossover.
D
That'd be crazy.
A
That'd be very crazy.
C
That would be crazy.
A
Don't think that would happen. But I'd be crazy.
D
Yeah.
A
The fan art would be off the wall.
C
Yeah.
D
Start making that actually right now just for the funs of it. But I think Kratos story is done and that's why we're making an old IP feel new.
A
Cj, Switzerland says, what's the difference between this and what remedy does. I don't think you're. I want to laugh you out of the room, but I won't because I understand where you're coming from. For me personally, it's just like. And this is what's so hard about talking about a game we can't see. We were talking about, oh, it's going to be his wife and it'll be God of War combat. And so it's just. Okay, so now she's female Kratos. Because like I would argue there, of course that like, well, in Alan Wake I walk around and write and in fucking control, I fly and shoot people and fucking throw things with telekinesis, like they feel very different even though they are in the same world. But I also love a modern sci fi timeline more than I do God of War. Let's go back to the olden times. I live in a hut, I got
C
a stone wall, got some ashes on,
A
you know what I mean? Just fucking kill me, you know what I mean? I was like, ah, yeah, time travel. What would you do? I could blow my brains out or just hit myself in the head with a giant rock. If that's. You know what I mean.
C
I going back.
A
No fucking video game. I think about that all the time too. What if tomorrow you woke up and you know, you're. You're in the. You're in college again. Like, oh my God, I'd be so fucking bored. You know what I mean? Where you play all these games? I got to play these games. Like, oh man, stuck a game. Save, save. System fucking sucks. Graphics are terrible. It was like, this is cutting edge. You don't even know, man. 26 years ago. Then again. And then of course, the age old question.
C
Yeah.
A
Do you warn them about September 11th?
C
You make the call and you can't
A
because you go to jail. You go to jail as a terrorist, nobody's gonna believe you. And then it's the other problem. They'd be like, all right, cool. Prove something else that you're from the future. And I'm like, you don't understand. I got a bad memory.
C
You want to go Bitcoin?
A
I mean, you have to wait a long time.
C
Yes.
A
You know what I mean? I mean, at that point, if I. If I go back in time and it's before the iPhone put it all on Apple.
C
Apple.
A
You know what I mean?
C
Yeah, yeah.
A
Mom and dad, don't send me to college. Give me all that money.
C
You don't even make the phone call. You just put it all on Apple again.
A
What do you want me to do? Who do I call to convince people that this is happening and I didn't do it? You can't.
C
No.
A
And again. Then they go, okay, who's gonna win the super bowl this year? I'm like, I don't fucking remember. I don't know. Is this the year where the Rams lost and all my friends were disappointed? I can't remember. I think it was that on the
C
one where Tom Brady brought him back against Atlanta. That's the one you remember.
A
I don't remember that one.
C
You remember that one. That's your one. I'm helping you.
A
You're not helping me because I only remember the bad stuff. Oh, they're gonna send Tom Brokaw Anthrax. I go to jail again. You know what I mean? I don't even know if Tom Brokaw. I might be sending the wrong person. And then I get a pop up here. Roger Picone on Instagram commented, greg sucks. So that's great.
C
That's how my Roger, Roger taking him to a basketball game today.
A
We fun because Andy's a loser.
C
He breaks my heart. We're 28% mad.
A
You could have brought Ben. You could have been cool. Uncle Mike can take it. Ben.
C
Can we talk about somebody that's coming for Ben's spot really quick? Can I steal the show for just a moment?
A
No. You can't talk about another child that's coming to steal.
C
I need you to know, Greg, that my. My life for the past month has been about this baby that is just dropping bombs and throwing nothing but gas and heat in his basement with his father. These kid. This kid.
A
What the fuck are you talking about?
C
Please bring up the baby.
A
How did we have this set up
C
at this baseball baby right now? Look at the form rip through.
A
Really good form, really good form.
C
They have been tracking this kid for the past year and a half now with his father. And they are constantly in the basement just working and perfecting on this three year old's game.
D
Has Anybody signed him yet?
C
I. You know what? Somebody's going to make the call. Cuz in baseball you can do crazy things like that. You can sign them way early.
D
Middle schoolers are being signed.
A
It's insane.
C
I feel like this is it right here. This is the only thing I can think about for the past month is his baby just working on drills. Guy's got seven balls that are all different colors, throws it up, he yells, orange kid knocks it out the park. He gets a hold of the baseball, whips it, it's going 60 miles an hour.
A
Okay, okay, I see where your allegiances are.
C
Yeah, we're going to help this baby out.
A
What if I took that and I raised it and I show you? Look at there, Ben out there playing tennis with us. We bought the rackets and the balls. These kids ready to go. Look at them. Not look at bam. That's what I'm talking about.
C
That's over the net.
A
That's follow through.
C
Now tennis is a sport that I can get behind. Tennis is a sport we can double down on.
A

B
I am an alumnus, Doki Doki, Okie dokie, everybody. Thank you for having me. I didn't know you were bringing me out here today.
A
I know. Don't forget to talk to the microphone. You know what I mean? I was gonna give you this.
B
Here we are talking into the mic. We're gonna do the. Gotta do the Miller. You lean back.
A
They're popping. They're popping for. Jared. Where the hell you been? We haven't seen you on the show in a long time.
B
Well, I'm up in Canada now. I live in Princeton.
A
Bastard. You son of a.
B
And I'm not just in Canada. I'm like, in fairly remote Canada. It's kind of great. Like P.E.I. is this wonderful, beautiful Atlantic Province. It's small, people are super kind. Angie and I are having a wonderful time up there. She's working at the university. I'm making indie games now.
A
Where are you working?
B
I'm another ocean. They make Project Winter and Scrap Daddies and maybe something soon to be announced.
A
Maybe. Oh, that's interesting.
B
But yeah, I'm there. Life is good, Greg. It's been really wonderful. We've been up there about a little over half a year. But despite that, I'm really never happier than when I'm in one of these chairs with y' all at the best job I ever had.
A
Thank you very much.
C
Thank you very much.
A
Let's dust it off. You get to stay for story number three. All right? Otherwise, this episode will go to 1:30 in the afternoon.
B
I don't know what you're talking about.
A
Nintendo Announces Indie World Showcase for Tomorrow. Expect news on games coming to Switch and Switch 2. This is the one, the only wyp@ign.com Nintendo has announced a new Indie World Showcase set to take place tomorrow, March 3rd. The showcase kicks off at 6am Pacific and will provide 15 minutes of news and updates on indie games coming to Switch 2 and Switch. This is Not a Nintendo direct, so don't expect any news on upcoming Nintendo games. Parentheses. Hopefully that 3D Mario announcement isn't too far away. So what can fans Expect at the August 2025 Nintendo Indie World Showcase, which did not offer a hollow Silksong release date? We got a demo announcement for Yacht Club Games, Mina the Hollower, new looks at, well, Dweller content warning on consoles, Glacier Hurling, Cross Pit and Neverway. Nintendo held a partner showcase last month, and highlights of course included a Switch 2 upgrade for Hollow Knight, a release date, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Indie World is coming tomorrow. Michael, I haven't talked to you about this. Barrett, I haven't talked to you about this. We're doing it.
C
Schedule change.
A
I flipped a flop. All right. Gamescast moves the games Daily Spot. Games Daily moves to Gamescast spot.
C
Love that.
A
Me, Mike and Roger will live react. Barrett, hold on. Take your smelling salts, Barrett. What? Barrett's getting lost in another dimension.
B
Uh oh.
A
We will be live reacting to it on a delay. So when we wake up, we will not look at the Indie World Showcase. We will instead live react for 15 minutes with you to do a gamescast. Following up on that, talking about what we've been playing. On top of that, having a great time out there.
B
Freaking rad.
A
Jer, what do you expect from tomorrow's Indie World?
B
I have few predictions, except that Nintendo will come forward with innovative and exciting new video games to play on their platforms. Things that we love and enjoy we still don't have.
A
Mina the Hollow Ears Release date. Yes.
B
Yeah, right.
A
So that's gotta be there. That's gotta be it, right?
C
Mike just had a big demo. You would think it's gonna be there.
A
Yeah.
C
You think that would be like probably the big jewel of them all, for sure. Yeah.
A
I mean, I agree.
B
I love that right now, despite a truly challenging time for the industry, probably the most challenging time in the 21st century fair. Even now, people are scraping and clawing and digging to make little games that their hearts want to exist in the world. I don't know if there's ever been a more passionate moment for games. It is harder than ever for indie devs. You know, I'm in that now and I'm really getting a feel for it. And yet what I see from the people around me, Canada's a great place for indie development. You know, free health insurance helps, it helps.
A
Government subsidizing, government subsidies help.
B
We have that. And so watching what people are doing, looking at a space where things are Contracting saying, I am not going to allow my creativity to die here. I'm going to give up what I can and make something happen. That's why I love Nintendo's special focus on indie stuff that they really haven't let go of now.
A
Yeah, it's nice that they still do that.
B
It's consistent. Yeah, you know, PlayStation used to make a bigger deal of this stuff, for example. You see less of that now. Yeah, Xbox used to make a bigger deal, but for some reason Nintendo has stuck with it. I love that.
A
So I'm jumping into my Steam wish list and I'm looking down at games that just have 2026 dates here and trying to figure out who could fit in where. All right. Because that's where you got to be looking. 15 minutes. You can get a lot in there. You can do a whole bunch of stuff. Now, of course, when I'm looking at my Steam wish list, I don't know what's jumping, but that could be the whole thing. Not early access. You don't want that. I see Tears of Metal here. Highly anticipated one for me. The developers of Bloodroots remember that. Anybody? No? Okay.
C
Yeah.
A
Yeah, you remember Tears of Metal too? This. Have you seen? Can you throw up a trailer Baron? I know, I'm talking, I'm talking while I go. I think that would be an awesome one because that just says 2026.
C
Yes.
A
Blighted is on here as well. For me. That on my wish list. That of course. Blighted Guacamelee devs. I know them so well. Drink box. Drink Box. They are on there. Oh man. Mixtape. We have a release date now for mixtape, don't we?
B
I don't know.
A
Yeah, pretty sure we do. My Steam Wishlist doesn't have it updated. I can see that. Maybe you bring that over to Switch. I don't know if that's announced.
B
Tome 2 would make a lot of sense. Yeah, I mean that's obviously a good fit there. I forgive my ignorance because I didn't prep before coming.
A
Oh, well, I threw you. Yeah.
B
No, I just had no idea what was coming up.
A
Don't worry about that.
B
Where are we on Bollocks Pit? Because that seems like the like Switch 2 is game in the history of the world.
A
Did that not come to Switch two?
B
I don't know if it did or not. That's what I'm wondering. I played it on PC.
A
I mean they just talked about it. They talked about it on the thing where it was like. That was in last year's.
C
Right.
B
Well, I Can't remember.
A
Yeah, no, it did. It did. It did.
C
No.
B
Then it did.
A
That's all right.
B
Sorry for being ignorant, everybody.
A
No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's there. Yeah. And I. I get the free upgrade. I should do that.
B
I thought you said it earlier. That's why I got.
A
I did say it earlier in terms of. That was what it was at the direct L or the thing last.
B
Thank you very much. Sorry about that.
A
Real quick. Sorry. Vash N Pit. The X is silent. That.
D
Yeah.
A
Real quick game. Des, if you don't want us to say a letter or a word in there, don't put it in the title. Because if you put in the title, I'm going to say it. Sometimes I'll say X, sometimes I'll say cross. Will I ever not say it? No, I won't.
B
Yeah, you say cross when you're standing in Japan. You say X when you're standing here. Yeah, that's how you do it. Yeah.
D
And then for some games, you say it as times for some reason.
B
Oh, times. That's true. You can do that too, multiplied by yep, yep, yep.
D
I do wonder if we get a not as exciting but a reminder of like. Hey, Mouse, PI Fryer. That's coming out in April.
A
Is that Switch?
D
I think so.
A
Switch. Got everything now and I'm doing. I'm over here.
B
Somebody's making crossfire.
A
You get caught up in. See, I don't see mouse on my Nintendo. Search here on the store now. Is the Nintendo store the best? No, but I don't see it.
B
Yeah.
A
So can the Switch to run it. Maybe that is the announcement though, that it's coming there.
B
That'd be great.
A
That'd be great.
B
Absolutely marvelous.
A
Well, we'll be like I said, on a delay live reacting to it tomorrow, 15 minutes before the games cast. It'll be at the usual times of games day daily. Then games daily will be after it. We'll all have a lot of fun. Okay.
C
Yeah.
A
Now, Barrett, before Barrett. Jesus.
B
I could be Barrett.
C
I want.
B
What happened?
A
Well, here's. Here's what happened before we switch off stakes, says Barrett Delta root for tomorrow.
D
I could see it, but it's. I don't know. They've been weird about like just them randomly dropping the. Those episode. Toby Fox has said chapter five will come this year. So. So it's a possibility, but I wouldn't bet on it.
A
Okay.
B
And whoever the annoying guy in the chat was, it wasn't a review anyway. Fuck you.
A
Hey, that's a Good response. I like that. Before we get to Jared questions, Indie direct question or comments? Dexter says prediction Mina the Hollower. Release date for April 17th. As for Greg, the Mario announcement is in September's direct Galaxy 3. Hi, Uncle Jared.
B
Oh. Oh, thank you, everybody.
A
Put that in there. Now, Jared, are you ready for a lightning round before we get back to the game?
B
I wasn't even ready for the regular round.
A
This is easy.
B
I just made a fool of myself.
A
Samson XP says Canada's own Jarrett Petty. Much love from Vancouver.
B
Oh, thank you very much for the
C
love from all the way across.
A
Kebab says super chat for Jared Petty. Love, we love you.
B
Oh, thank you. Thank you, Kebabs. I appreciate it.
A
Big Kurt says Doki Doki. Jared, love wishing you the best.
B
Doki Doki. Right back at you.
A
Delaney20 says Jared. Doki Doki. Welcome back. How's the seafood in pei? Are the mussels really is good as everyone says?
B
Yeah, they are. The shellfish are unreal. The mussels are great. The oysters are even better. The gin made with the oysters is one of the best things on earth.
A
Mike wouldn't do it. He put the napkin on it.
B
Yeah, you mix that in a martini, it's incredible. Lobster rolls, fish and chips. But the best food in P.E.I. shout out to Claudock, the surf and turf there, which is not lobster and steak, but a bed of colcannon covered
A
in like, which is what?
B
But Cole Cannon is mashed potatoes, cream, butter. It's got some cabbage in it. This one has some beets in it. And then on top of that, huge grilled scallops and pork belly with some apricot jelly, I think on it.
A
Come on, everybody. Uncle Death says following Jared's journey to Canada has revitalized my long lost pride and love for being Canadian. So glad you felt welcomed. Love from Enby. Oh.
B
Oh, thank you. The country's been extraordinarily welcoming to Angie and I and that community especially. We've fallen in love with Charlottetown. It's a great place.
A
Live chat. Justin says pei, KF meetup. When?
B
Oh, I don't know when you are coming.
A
No, no, you can represent us. You can represent us.
B
Okay, I'm representing you. You don't want me representing you.
A
I'm used to it.
B
Oh, my God. You know, you were talking earlier, you almost called me Barrett. Like, yeah, I am kind of. What would happen if Barrett let himself go? No, if Barrett was just like, one day, like, you know, you look really
A
good for the record, by the way. I didn't say it earlier.
C
You look really good.
B
I actually feel punched right now, but,
A
I mean, there's color in your face.
B
Thanks.
A
That's the biggest thing I think I've been missing for a long time out there with you.
B
Oh, thank you very much. I feel much better. Yeah, it's. I'm getting over it. I gained some weight when I got. You know, my old man died a couple of months ago, but I'm getting it back down.
A
Pluto says, shout out to Pei. Used to go every summer. Justin says, how do you potato your potatoes?
B
How do I. Okay, so honestly, I think the best potatoes on Pei, and there's all kinds of great ones. There's like a simple grilled breakfast potato, almost like a Greek style potato. Like a little rosemary, a little thyme, little salt, nothing else. And then a nice crisp. Not burned, but nice crisp fry on the outside, but the inside's still soft like that is. That's my way. What about you?
A
My favorite potato? Yeah, I wasn't. I wasn't prepared.
B
I wasn't prepared for the Indy thing,
A
you know, Man, I do love a good mashed potatoes, you know?
C
Yeah.
B
How do you go wrong with that? Right.
A
We went to house of prime rib, me, Mike, Tim Schaefer, Andy the other day.
B
Yeah.
A
And I didn't realize that you could. Tim Schaefer is very big of a secret menu, some of which I knew, some of which I didn't. But I didn't realize you could order the mashed potatoes and then get them fully loaded, which means they take all the baked potato stuff, the giant thing of bacon, the giant thing of sour cream, the other chives, and then put them on top of your mashed potatoes, and I mix that shit up. That was amazing.
C
Okay.
B
That's fucking incredible. I think about, like. So I. The first time I met Schaefer was so embarrassing because never meet your heroes.
A
Sure.
B
I'm walking into the Alamo to watch Independence Day 2.
A
Wow. Okay.
B
And he's walking out of the Alamo from watching Independence Day 2. And two things happen. One, I'm like, oh, my God. Tim Schafer now knows that I'm going to see Independence Day 2.
A
Sure.
B
I'm so embarrassed.
A
Yeah.
B
But also, oh, my God, Tim Schaefer just watched Independence Day 2. I'm so disappointed. It was a hard day.
A
I'm sorry about that. Sorry about that.
B
What about you and potatoes, Mike?
C
You know what? I'm looking at potatoes over here.
B
You're looking at potatoes.
C
Sweet and smoky potato pieces. I'd like to try that.
B
Okay, that's.
C
Now that looks.
D
I'd like to try it. But what is your favorite? That was the question.
C
Sweet.
B
But.
C
Sweet and smoky potato pie.
B
But you've never had it.
C
I can already tell it's my favorite. It's wrapped in bacon. It looks like a pizza pie. I'm in on it.
D
I, I would bet you would take one bite and be like, I don't like that.
A
Send me the link. I want to.
C
Okay.
B
Please give your brain to the Smithsonian when you die.
A
Like, please.
B
I I as. We gotta find out final one before
A
we get you out of here. Jared.
C
All right.
A
The Portland Kevin says. Jared, your Top 100 Games podcast inspired me to start my own book club. Like podcast. The PlayStation Plus Game Club. PlayStation Plus Game Club. Thank you for being awesome.
B
Thank you for being kind. And top 100 will continue in a couple of weeks. Now, like I said, when dad died, I paused again for that.
A
He didn't want you to come back.
B
And I didn't even make an announcement, but I think he'd be like, do what the fuck you want, man.
A
Exactly. Exactly.
C
Yeah.
B
But I enjoy it. And I'll be back to it again.
A
Jared Petty. Everybody here say we love you. All right.
B
Love you.
A
Get out of here, Mike. Let's land this goddamn plane.
C
Let's get it.
A
Number four. I got a Resident Evil rock block for you. Okay. Resident Evil Requiem has been criticized for immersion breaking gore censorship in Japan. This is Verity Townsend over at ign. Resident Evil Requiem released last Friday. While players are slicing up zombies as Leon S. Kennedy and creeping around as Grace Ashcroft, players of the Japanese version have noticed something amiss. Namely, Requiem's censorship of gore in its home country is being criticized as being immersion breaking and uncreative compared to past games in the series. How's that sit with you?
C
I mean, that's snap.
A
Demi.
C
Yeah. It's unfortunate, but, like, uncreative. I like. Right. It's like if you knew that you were going to censor it and, like, it's been done before. Let's try to find a good workaround for it. Let's not just put up a giant censor bar or blur the image. Like, let's get creative with it. You've done it before. Let's. Let's. Let's knock this out.
A
Many players of the Japanese version have since voiced their dissatisfaction with the censorship in the final release. I'm skipping, obviously, ahead. As one player of the Japanese version pointed out in a not safe for work Reddit post, Capcom started to show cutting off limbs in Resident Evil 4, implementing a workaround where gore and entrails will be blacked out. With Resident Evil Requiem, Capcom has is has also opted for blacking out the gore. However, this isn't has extended to covering the whole of missing areas of the body in black to the point where it's really noticeable. For example, in one puzzle in Requiem, you have to find an artificial heart and lungs and place them inside a dead body in order to get the MacGuffin. In the Japanese version, the entire upper body and the heart and the lungs themselves are completely black. As the Redditor noted, this censorship is way more noticeable imo. To the point where it really kills the immersion. Although many longtime fans have come to expect Japanese domestic releases of Resident Evil games to be censored, many opined that Resident Evil Requiem censorship was excessive and distracting to the previous entries. Thank God we live here in America, where you can't show a titty, but you can show all the violence and blood and gore you want.
C
Damn, it's crazy when you say it like that. When you think about it, that's crazy.
A
Let me see a you know, what's the big deal? Frontal Res Evil Requiem Is Blowing up on Steam this is Levi Winslow over at GameSpot. Just one day after launch, Resi will Requiem has already surpassed the player count of both RE4 Remake and RE Village on Steam, making it the most popular entry in the series to date. As reported by games industry, Requiem's all time peak on Steam was about 345,000 on February 28, according to player tracker SteamDB, just one day after it arrived. On everything else, Eurogamer noted the peak was double that of Resident Evil 4 Remake, which was just about 168,000, and triple that of Resident Evil Village, which was just about 107,000, making Requiem the biggest launch in the franchise's history. It goes on to say of course Requiem is available on other platforms this that the other impressive numbers Mike, for an amazing game you and I love
C
game is amazing and when a game is that good it's going to get that many players on there. Awesome to see and yeah well deserved.
A
This game rocks and your final one right now. Res Evil Requiem currently has the highest user score of all time on Metacritic. This is Chris Scullion at vgc. Three days after its release, Resident Evil Requiem has become the highest rated game of all time on Metacritic. In terms of user score, the ninth entry in Capcom's survival horror series currently has the overall metascore, the average score from critics of 88. With the per platform score fluctuating from 88 to 92. I cut the article too early. I don't have the. What was the fucking one? I was in a hurry. Jared was here. Fuck.
C
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck.
A
I'm failing. I'm failing. I'm falling. I'm dying. I'm dying. There it is. Hold on. Back to VGC News, where you should get your news. However, the user score, the average score out of 10 submitted by Metacritic users currently stands at 9.5, making it the highest user score on the entire platform.
C
That's dope.
A
Crazy, but dope. We love this game.
C
Okay?
A
You think it's. It should be the highest scored game ever on Metacritic.
C
This game rocks, Greg.
A
I agree. You and I are of course doing our spoiler stream. Spoiler stream this afternoon.
C
This game rocks, Greg. This game is that good, okay? And I'm not mad at it. If the users are vibing with it and they're enjoying it, I'm giving it a big hell yeah, I'm on board.
A
I'm not trying to stop it.
C
I'm on board.
A
I'm not trying to stop anybody. I'm just saying stop trying to stop people. I'm just not sure, but just. It's a surprising stat for a game we love here. A game we love. Spoiler stream. Me and Mike this afternoon talking about everything.
C
Yeah, talk about it.
A
Number five on the Rope Report. The Just Cause creator has a bleak take on the state of gaming. This is any over at GameSpot, Christopher Sundberg, who or Sunderberg, who is known for his hot takes, has made another bold statement about the state of gaming. In an interview, Sundberg said he is observing things in the games industry today that he hasn't seen in his 30 plus years of making games. Quote, I've been making games for over three decades and I have never and never experienced such a desperate, cowardly, they'll call it risk averse and confused state of the business. Sundberg told WCCF Tech after the acquisition. Overinvesting party during 2123. We are dealing with the hangover and it's been going on for three years. Sundberg is referring to the video game boom from the pandemic and how it seemingly has not paid off the way investors imagined. Something Greg's going to jump in with, we talk about every goddamn day here. And that's why I wanted to throw it in there, because he's just saying the same things we say, which makes me feel good when I see Somebody who actually makes the games saying the same things we say. Mike?
C
Yeah, Greg.
A
The video game industry bouncing back, funding games, making great stuff again and making money. So everybody's happy. Maybe just a little bit of profit. Maybe not a big profit. You know what I mean? A little bit of profit. You know where they profit. You know, this thing back and forth.
C
No layoffs.
A
No layoffs. That would all be big news.
C
Real big.
A
But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I need to know about, where would I go?
C
Greg, I take you to our last story, the WE News channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
A
Number six on the WE News, of course. The Pokemon Pokepia reviews are up. It has a review roundup Metacritic of 89. If you haven't been listening, we are reviewing this next on the gamescast, myself, Joey, and the big man from VGC News, Jordan Midler. So that's why you can get a full review rundown. We'll talk about it there. And I'm very excited to finally open up. IGN says Pokemon Fire Red and Leaf Green remakes. Add a swear filter, limiting your ability to name your rival. Something rude I wanted to call him.
C
Ass.
A
VGC says NACON delays the game showcase after. I'm sorry. NACON delays its game showcase case after filing for insolvency. Quote. We are choosing to focus our resources.
C
You know what? That seems about right.
A
That seems like a good call.
C
You know what?
A
Maybe I would. Maybe when you announced the insolvency slash bankrupt, you would have said there as well. Yeah. Hey, that thing that was going to happen. We're not going to do that, okay? Because we wait here. It's fine. VGC also has an article. Starfield on PS5 release date confirmed by Reliable Insider. Quote, the report claimed that the PlayStation 5 version of Starfield is expected to get a physical release on April 7. We have heard April 7 kicked around for a few weeks now. Here we go. Another tiddlywink trying to push you a little bit over there.
B
Okay.
A
Trying to show you what's going on. And then if you're in Japan or on your way to Japan, I got good news from you. From Dextero. The Tokyo Metro turns the entire intern. Tokyo Metro turns entire train purple for the ditto Pokemon Pocopia.
C
Now that's fun.
A
That's awesome.
C
That's cute.
A
Look at that. The hand. The hand holds our dittos.
D
I wouldn't want to touch it.
C
Why aren't we doing that here? We got Caltran. We Got Caltrain.
A
Sure, sure. Why not?
C
Why can't we have that fun? Well, cool train.
A
We have a cool train. It's just you don't have a good return on investment there.
C
What do you mean? You don't think. You don't think San Francisco would go crazy for a ditto themed train? Maybe then go into the Nintendo store, maybe reminding them that there's a new Pokemon game.
A
Tell you real quick. Remember, you can't change where the train goes.
C
That is true.
A
Trains can't. You can't deviate it to the Nintendo.
C
I'm just saying it's like you just get them encouraged. You know what I mean? It's like, oh man.
D
And Mike, we have like bigger problems when it comes to, you know, the, the bus system and trains.
C
We gotta solve these problems. Mayor Mike just wants us to have fun. I want a ditto train on every stop right now. I want want the trolleys ditto themed.
A
What about the way mouse.
C
Mayor Mike's coming out? I'm gonna fix all these problems.
D
Mayor Mike just wants to have fun. That sounds weirdly similar to just our current mayor.
C
Hey, what up, San Francisco? I got a new EDM artist coming to town. Don't worry about nobody getting money. Teachers not getting paid. I got Diplo coming. He's the best. We're gonna have the.
A
These are some deep San Francisco cuts about Daniel Mory, but yeah, you're nailing it. You're nailing it.
C
We're gonna have the largest, largest boxing event ever inside the city of San Francisco. 120, 000 people can show up. That is gonna be lit though. We gotta go to that.
A
That's it for WE news. We jump into super chats that we missed. I'll start from the bottom and go to the top. Well, now I'm. Now I'm confused. Cause this is the latest super chat. I'm not gonna say the name.
C
Okay.
A
But I'll say the thing and then I'll come back to the name.
C
Okay?
A
Just pop it in and have Greg pronounce my gamer tag. And then he uses the LOL like emoji. My COD plays have been the funniest. Hearing people say my name, but also. Good morning, handsome fellas. I can't remember I came here if we had a conversation about this before or if I said it wrong before and they're making fun of me for that.
C
Okay.
A
Because I feel like I've had this, I've said this before. I'm pretty confident what I'm saying that Asian One. That AZN one.
C
Yeah. That Asian one. Yeah, yeah.
A
Did I say it weird before? Am I wrong?
C
We could go that Arizona one.
A
No. You want to put the N on it?
C
I'm just trying to, you know, if
A
that, if that was that, then it'd be that capital A, capital Z1.
C
Yeah.
A
Then I'd be all that Arizona one.
C
Yeah.
A
And then why aren't you hanging out with Ignacio Rojas at the Surly Winch?
C
We ask him all the time, what
A
are they saying in code. That Asian one. You need to super chat back in and tell me. You might say I'm going to chat
C
a lot of things.
A
The YouTube chat died out there and I only see the fan funded one, so you have to pay again. I'm sorry. Zeke Speak says been playing marathon all weekend and it's got the juice. It definitely isn't for everyone, but I think that part, that's part of what makes it interesting to play. Michael, did you jump in the marathon?
C
Yeah, I jumped in the marathon for one night and I was a mixed bag of emotions. There was a feeling that I was interested in it. I really liked the gunplay. I liked the world, I liked the aesthetic, I like the creative design of it all. But there was something about it where I just did not like the moment to moment gameplay. Gunfights were super fun and engaging, but they were few and far between. There was too many times where I found me and my crew, we're just an empty play space with nothing going on besides AI bots that were like too overwhelming. So it is interesting of like a lot of people coming out of this beta weekend released right around the corner. What are the thoughts gonna be? I'm. I'm a mixed bag.
B
I'm.
C
I'm. Yes and no on this.
A
Okay, fair enough. Stakes who have been abbreviating Super Chat says? To be honest, Greg never says my name right when I Super Chat. I won't lie to you. Can I get the one?
C
Yeah.
A
It's because it's bad. You got a bad username. Oh, so it's Steak Sticks animations. Now you say, oh, steak sticks, like S T I C K S no stick S T I X. All shoved together. Animations.
C
Yeah.
A
Nope.
C
Yeah. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
A
Do you ever look at your channel and go, man, I got 6.9 thousand subscribers. Maybe it's because my name's fucking stupid.
C
Got him.
A
Did you ever think about that statistics? Because I think you should maybe, you know, tonight clear the whiteboard.
C
Right?
A
Is it dumb question Mark. And I know you're too far locked in. Now here's what. I'll call out your animations. Look. Fucking dope.
C
Oh, shit.
A
Look at this fucking creepy ass. This is a Family Guy animation. This is fucking good. But you should probably just go to Stakes. That's what I would do. Just change your name to Stakes. That rolls off the tongue. People know how to find that.
C
They like that.
A
Steak stick animation. Stake sticks animation. This is why. What is the stake sticks?
C
You know what I mean? For a steak on the stick, though,
A
that's just a bee stick. I brought a whole bunch of new beef sticks in.
C
New beef sticks?
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, okay, great. That Asian one says lol. You pronounced it right. It's the chats and COD kill cam that mispronounced them. That's why you guys are awesome. Also, gamer girl here. Smiley. That's awesome. And I love that. Now I will call out this. When I said this before, one of the freeloader chats was like, I want to know why Greg says COD and not code. And I'll let you know. Because when you were suckling on your mom's fucking teeth, I was writing about video games, and we always called it COD for Call of Duty because that's an abbreviation. Then y' all came in, you went COD pieces, and now you start calling it cod and you want me to change.
C
That's on you.
A
No, because guess what? In 20 years, I'll still be here talking about COD. And you know what you'll be doing? Fucking taking care of some kid. You won't be playing video games anymore. All right? You'll be going there, ringing the big accountant machine at work every day like an idiot, going wide as Stake Sticks animation still. Yeah. 7,000 followers 20 years later. Don't get me fired up today. I'm already. I was fired up during Greg Way because I was leaving voice comments on YouTube comments. That's a bad move. Them letting me leave voice comments because I don't. People better, everybody. If you don't watch a lot, you got to get hip to the game. That when I do a voice comment, I'm usually doing a heel character because it's gonna get me in trouble.
C
Understand?
A
Even the one when I say, give me the one, that's when we're on it. We're having fun here.
C
Yeah, yeah.
A
So when Steak Sticks, his mom comes in and be like, he cried himself to sleep because he doesn't have time. He said his name. I'm Mrs. Steak Sticks.
C
You know what?
A
I mean, I don't want to fucking hear it.
C
Now you get it?
A
Katie Butler. Super Chat says birthday tax for me. Happy birthday.
C
Happy birthday.
A
Thanks for all the laughs and fun over the past six years. Hopeful to meet you at SF soon. Joey and I are still waiting for the Taylor Swift albums in review one day, Greg. I offer them all the time.
D
Wow.
A
And Tim Gettys always has some fucking excuse why we have to go do a goddamn animated movie that's gonna get 3,000 views.
D
Tim Gettys isn't here.
A
CEO Junior. Can we do it? Tim Junior can we do it?
D
I don't fucking give a shit what we do.
A
Thank you. I appreciate that. The only way that could have been better is he took a drag off his cigarette while he says, I don't
D
fucking give a shit, man.
A
Allie came in late and said had a super chat. Just let no Jared know he's a sweet lovely human being. Claw Master says. Wow, Greg. So all bald people look the same, huh? Calling Jared Barrett. Shame. Here's what I'll say, Claw Master. I've been doing this for nearly 20 years. You had to put two GS at the end of my name. That's how fucking dumb you are. Enjoy your. You're just drinking a glass of lead paint right now while you type, huh? God, the amount of fucking dumbass motherfuckers who watch this show.
C
Wow.
A
Find Familiar Games says. Hey all. I wanted to extend an invitation to all of you as guests of Honor and any KFBFs to our one year anniversary event, Familiar Con. Tickets are on our website. Magic Warhammer, Pokemon. Flesh and blood, of course. Find Familiar.
B
Wow.
A
That game shop that kind of funny best friend opened that I Indiegogo'd. Right? I gave them money for it when they were doing. Maybe it was a Patreon. I remember they sent shirts. You see Blessworth all the time. It's that cool greenish purple shirt he wears with the cat on it.
B
Oh, okay.
A
Find Familiar. As always, you didn't give us enough information. What is the website?
B
Here we go.
A
Click on it. Where's the event? Where is it again? Like Delaware. We're going to Delaware.
C
A website that you got to click into a website. You know what I mean?
A
Mike, give me some information.
C
Let me get you some information.
A
I'm bad. I'm fired up. I'm congested looking at this. Oh yeah, I think we caught it then. Pretty good.
C
Ohio.
A
Ohio.
C
Mount Vernon, Ohio.
A
Mount Vernon, Ohio.
C
Find Familiar Games.
A
And when is the event?
C
No word on the event.
A
Let me. His tickets are on the site, apparently.
C
I'm gonna buy some tickets then.
A
Well, come on, we can get some Pokemon events. When's Find Familiar Con? When's fine. Familiar.
C
You're not on the website. Find Familiar Con.
A
You know what I mean?
C
All right. You know what? I would like to take a moment though, Greg. I would like to share with you that your boy Snowbike Mike went two and one in this magic pre release for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It was technically 3 0. It is a 20 and 1. I did take a draw. But I want you to know that I played the best magic of my life on Sunday afternoon from Friday night. Getting my butt whooped from 11 to 2:30 in the morning.
A
Yeah.
C
Then followed that up by Saturday when I showed up for the 4 o' clock event and no one else showed up. And the guy said, you win canceling this. Get the out to them returning.
A
You got the window, right. They gave you the.
C
They gave me some packs. That was nice. That was nice of them to treat me like that. That and then to show up on Sunday and to lock in and see the synergies. To build off the bombs. To build a red and white deck that synergized with Raphael and Leonardo. That gave both of my. That gave all of my attacking characters a double strike and also two combat phases. And then get this, Greg, slap the first to Roni got him dominated, right. Then I go in. No, no, know first game, guys got bad breath, okay.
A
Oh, you hate it.
C
Get a breath, man. Okay, we go one one, then we go the distance in the game. Number three, time out.
A
Do you think the bad breath was like a detective? Yeah, it was a tactic. Yeah, it's a tactic. You should shoot your pants. Fight fire with fire. Yeah.
C
So we go one one, we go to game three. Now get this, Greg. They have a time limit. They give you three games in an hour essentially. And so we're going the distance. I'm up 22 to 4 on him. And they're like, you get five turns left. I'm like, I'm winning. I should get this win. We go five turns. I can't finish him. He's not going to finish me. And they go, oh, that's a draw. Oh, that's 22 to 4. That's crazy, right? So then get this. I go to game number two. Yeah, I'm playing. I'm slapping this jabroni around. Sorry, Jay. Beat him up right there. That's where I play my first card. Bear. And I sent it over to you. Broadcast Takeover. Gain Control of all artifacts your opponents control at the end of the turn. Untap them and they gain haste until end of turn. Watch out Greg, because I win again. I win against my opponent with his own stuff. So now this card's going to come back into play. Game number three, guys. 2 0, Snowbug Mike. Technically 2 0. Having the best game of my life right now. I go one, he goes one. We go to game number three, Greg. It comes down to the wire. I got him down to four health. He takes two big swings at me, gets me down to one health. Okay, I am up against it. I'm holding broadcast take over my hands. All I need is a mountain card to save me. If I don't draw this mountain I won't win and I'll lose next turn. Part of the cards said here you go, gave me the mountain. Play the card, take over all of his artifacts. Win the game. The greatest day of magic I've ever had in my entire life. I went from four events, 12 plus events each weekend. 03030303 dominating.
A
Congratulations Mike. I'm proud of you.
C
I'm a magic boy. Yes you are a magic boy hero.
