Marvel 1943 Rise of Hydra was revealed during an Unreal Engine showcase at GDC in March. That's actually a lie. It was revealed during D23, the Disney Marvel Game showcase that I hosted. Last year it was announced that the game will be published by Play On. It's pronounced how it's spelled playon, which I always want to say Play on, of course. P, L, A, I, O, N. While the game doesn't currently have a release date, it may be coming this year, according to the actor behind one of the game's stars. When asked about the release date of the game, Black Panther actor Carrie Payton said, quote, we're still working. We're planning on 2025, end quote, quote. We're thinking like a Christmas situation, but I'm so excited, end quote.

Here's where. Here's where I'm with you. And like it's. It's the thing of. For me, I think I have to believe until they're just until they misstep or they. Until they actually delay it. I have no reason to actually doubt them. But that said, yeah, like I look at the factors involved of. All right, Skydance. We haven't seen this kind of project from Skydance yet. Right. Like, I think Marvel 1943 is the first big one. And so that's exciting as like that, you know, coming out and like making that big splash sort of game from you. But that's always tough with developers that you're not seeing as much from. Obviously Amy Hennig, we've seen stuff from her in the past. But you. Even then, when was the last time we've seen something from Amy Hennig?

Yeah, it's been generations. And so like, I think there's that factor to it. PlayOn as well. I don't look at PlayOn as a publisher where I'm like, can't wait for the next playon game. Right? Like, no. Like, I look at all the pieces involved and I look at the trailer and that's where I get on your side of this. Feels and looks too good to be true.

But what does that moment to moment gameplay look like and feel like? And like what are those previews going to look like when people actually get their hands on the game? That's the thing I'm way more curious about because I could see that part of. Part of it being a let down based on all these factors involved, as opposed to like, oh yeah, this game just disappears into the ether. Which it could. Which it very much could.

And we're back with story number three. Analysts think take two will sell Grand Theft Auto 6 at an unprecedented hundred dollar price point. This is Tom Ivan at VGC. Take Two could be planning to sell Grand Theft Auto 6 at an unprecedented price point of $100 or more per copy. That's according to Michael Pachter, the managing director of equity Research at Wedbush securities. The analyst discussed Rockstar owner Take Two's plans for the blockbuster release in a research note distributed this week. Quote we think the company has plans to sell the game at a previously unheard, unheard of price point and suspect that management can offer consumers an incentive to pay a hundred dollars or more per unit by rewarding them with a large amount of in game currency to be spent in GTA online, he wrote. Quote There is precedent for integrating an online game experience with a premium game, as Activision did so with both Call of Duty Warzone and Call of Duty mobile content prior to the release of its annual Call of Duty Premium installment pactor Continued Quote. In Activision's case, the integration led to a 40% increase in sales of Call of Duty Premium. In take two's case, we think a successful integration of GTA Online and GTA 6 can lead to $100 price point for the premium game. End quote. It's not the first time that $100 price point for Rockstar's upcoming game has been mooted. It's previously been suggested that other developers and publishers are hoping GTA 6 will be priced between $80 and $100, in a move which would allow more companies to raise their software prices too. I don't think only. I do think others will. I don't think that everyone will have that same level of success. And I think that at a certain point it will be detrimental to the profits of the companies. And at that point, they can't do it.

But I don't think it'd be financially beneficial for them to do 100. I think you miss out on a lot of sales. I think a lot of people like, well that I'm just going to play 2K23. Yeah, I'm just going to play the pre. I'm not going to pay. I think, I think $100 in the current economy is enough to make people go, oh no, I'm not, I'm just not going to buy that. GTA 6 I think is the one example where most people would, would bite the bullet and like yeah, to your point, to the, to the amount of people that don't like all the other people are going to make up for that with that 30 extra dollars to make it on per copy.

Again, I don't necessarily think that NBA 2K would, it would be a good decision but I can see them making the decision and then backing off later.

I think it could happen though. But yeah, $100 is definitely a lot of money. But I also think that video games have a lot of value and they can present themselves as that not being crazy. And I think that it's going to be pretty simple for that to get standardized that people are willing to pay a hundred dollars for games. I'm not saying I like it, I'm not saying that like it's something that I think should happen or definitely not something I want to happen. But yeah, I feel like it's very likely that GTA 6 will be $100. But if it's not, then hey cool. But probably will be.

Story number four. New PS5 rental programs emerge in some regions and it's already super popular in Japan. This is Eddie at Gamespot. Sony is now allowing users in the UK and Japan to rent PS5, PSVR2 and PS Portal devices. In the UK, Sony has partnered with leasing company Raylo for this with plans covering 12, 24 and 36 month terms. Plan started 11 pounds per month for the PS5 digital slim model with a 36 month lease and scale up from there for shorter lease durations. Leasing a PS5 Pro meanwhile starts at $19 a month for 36 months, scaling up to 27 or 27 pounds a month for a 12 month release. Sony also offers monthly Rolling leases that allow players to cancel anytime, but these are considerably more expensive. 36 pounds a month for the PS5 Pro. This doesn't appear to be a rent to own program. The leasing website states that, quote, your lease ends when you return your device after your chosen lease term, end quote. People can also rent the PSVR to starting at 1850 pounds a month for a 36 month lease, the PlayStation Portal for 650amonth or over 36 months and a DualSense Edge controller for 750amonth over 36 months. Raylo offers fair wear and tear policy that states users can return a device with obvious signs of use, including deep scratches, small dents and discoloration. However, cracks, significant cosmetic damage and functional faults are outside of the policy and could result in charges. I mean, honestly. Yeah, I mean I think, I think this could be pretty popular if you take it worldwide or at least if you take it to countries that are able to support this kind of thing. This, this I think feeds back into the previous story of $100 GTA 6 right now. Could that be the standard for other games going forward? Could that not? I think the reality of the situation that we're in right now is that our hobbies are getting more and more expensive. Especially video games is a hobby. Video games are getting more and more expensive and you need to do something to Offset that cost or at least give people the options, like lower cost options to get in the door. Otherwise you're going to cut people out. And like that is what it is. Right? But if you have an ability, if you have the ability to speak to people that would otherwise get cut out, why not? And I think allowing them to rent consoles or like things like cloud gaming, as we've talked about a million times, as far as how that lets you get in at a lower cost, you don't even have to buy a console if you want to play some of these Xbox games. Right. I think things like that are vital for where video games are going, what video games have become. Right. Like, yeah, I think this makes a lot of sense for the next five years, 10 years, however long gaming's in this place. Maybe just the future, right. Of how much video games are going to be to buy and how much they cost to make. Hey, this is an option for people who might not be able to afford to buy an Xbox or buy a Switch or buy whatever. Right. Tariffs also coming through. Gonna make things more expensive. So I think this might end up being pretty, pretty vital.
