No.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kinda funny games daily for Tuesday, July 1, 2025. I'm one of your hosts, Blessing Adioa Jr. Joining me is the. The nitro rifle, Andy Cortez.
Andy Cortez
The worst news to wake up to.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It was almost here. We almost got it. Almost finished.
Andy Cortez
Like, almost finished.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
They got it. They had to export one more gun and shareholders kicked in the door and they're like, no more.
Andy Cortez
They had one more line from Jakob.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. Jakob just had to say the final line.
Andy Cortez
That's heartbreaking.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It's finished. And then he snaps.
Andy Cortez
I mean, it's. It's. It's one thing to hear, oh, this game was almost greenlit here. This game was almost finished.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It was almost done.
Andy Cortez
Give me the file.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I feel like that. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
At that point, figure it out.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
You're just waiting for it to leak, like the source code to come out.
Andy Cortez
Yes.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And for some modders to finish it and put in a playable state.
Andy Cortez
Do the right thing.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Break into the studio.
Andy Cortez
Somebody do the right thing.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Somebody do it.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Let me tell you, we did the right thing last night. We were playing some. Some of that fifu, some of that rematch.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. I'll tell you what. I'll tell you.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
That's a good game.
Andy Cortez
Now, what a big reason of me playing some rematch with you and Widow last night was because I'm hosting games daily with Widow tomorrow, and I didn't want him to be down my throat about that. So I was like, let me hop in. You know, I. I was. I gotta wake up from this nap eventually. And then you hop in, you're like, all right, man. I kind of like this video game a lot, you know, like, it's. It's a lot of fun. We got our asses whooped. But Blessing, our fearless leader, took us to victory at least twice.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
We walked in, it was the first rough few couple of matches. And I think that's just because we're getting our feet wet.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
You were hopping into the game for the first time since the beta. Gary's is not that great, you know. Adam.
Andy Cortez
Oh, he's in the YouTube channel.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Oh, he's. Oh, he is, man. Wow.
Andy Cortez
I mean, what.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
What I meant to say was Gary's fantastic.
Andy Cortez
Not that great yet. Not that great yet.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Like, we're building that. That team synergy to get to a place we were where we're dominant. And I think we just need one more person to really get into ranked mode. That's the thing, is we're playing with four people. It's me, you, Adam and Gary.
Andy Cortez
I didn't realize that only fives was ranked.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Only fives is. That's one of my complaints with the game because I like playing. I think 4 is. Is probably the best way to play, but. But my preferred way is to play 3v3. That way it's more of like a, like more of a focused game. Right. I get my hands on the ball more, but like, yeah, 5U5 is the only way to play ranked. And I just feel like it's too much. Yeah, too much.
Andy Cortez
I'm kind of worried about that.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. But, you know, we did. We grew. We grew within like the hour that we played. We were fucking. We're killing it in those last few games.
Andy Cortez
I mean, it legitimately went from one of the. Like, this could be one of the top 10 worst experiences of your gaming life right now.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Andy Cortez
And it turned quickly into the team focusing, the team getting locked in.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Me as goalkeeper calling out like, all right, this person's in the center, this person's far left. Like, you know, go with the cross.
Andy Cortez
And you're just going to have to understand that I don't fully know the lingo. So I'm still going to be telling you, you know, I'm in the key. I'm ready for a three pointer. I feel that, you know, defense is blitzing, that sort of thing.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
In my head, I was like, should I start using Overwatch terms? Should I be like, pop the old or something? What? I want you to shoot.
Andy Cortez
Pop. Yeah, you should have done that. You really should have done that. Good game.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Very good game.
Andy Cortez
Very good video.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Play some more. Enough about that good game. Remember, this is kind of funny. Andy Cortez
Oh God.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Climbing. Having a good time. If you're a kind of funny member, today's Greg Way is going to be a good one. He's bursting at the seams to talk on Gamescast. So he recorded a Tiny Greg Way part one and will come back for part two in the afternoon. I don't know what that means. I don't know what that he's just.
Andy Cortez
Making his own format.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Wait, so like did he start talking about cla Scare in the. In the Greg Way and then he's going to continue talking about it in the. In the game?
Andy Cortez
Maybe the first one was sort of a tease and then it's.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Or is he recording two Greg Ways? He says he'll come back. So he recorded a Tiny Greg way. Recorded a Tiny Greg Way part one and we'll come back for part two. So he's recording two Greg Ways but then what does the games cat. He, he's bursting at the seams to talk on Gamescast.
Andy Cortez
It's. It said him and Tim Gettys one on one.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
To talk about the state of his life and turn based games.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And Claire Obscure and Pokemon and how it all ties together.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Greg, I'm gonna need a. I need you to slack me and tell me what the deal is. I don't understand this. I don't understand what's going on.
Andy Cortez
Can you believe Roger Pokorny hits me up yesterday and it's like I didn't like that you wore the same Den of Wolves hoodie that I was wearing. You should have seen that I was wearing it on stream. You shouldn't have worn it.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I heard him talking. I heard him saying that through the door because they're very loud in that stream.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I'm.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I'm at my desk trying to work and Yeah, I hear Roger talking about you.
Andy Cortez
They're interrupting my Superman 4 time, which, by the way, they could have done so for the rest of the night if they wanted to. Yeah, like, holy, what a movie. But, you know, the reason why we were sent so much den of wolves merch. Yours truly, I believe that. Big fan of gtfo. We got to play some GTFO with the devs. They sent us a bunch of den of wolves merchant.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
They sent us a lot of den of wolves merch.
Andy Cortez
Roger, back the off is what I'm saying. You know, like, our kitchen table looks.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Like a warehouse right now just full of den of wolves merch.
Andy Cortez
A lot of it taken, though.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, I mean, I took some. Yeah, it's good merch.
Andy Cortez
I. You know, I made the mistake of saying that we were. We have a lot of big boys here. I made the mistake of saying lean more towards the larger sizes. And I wish, you know, I asked for some more mediums.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
We got. Yeah, we got to get more mediums in the office when it comes to things. Thank you to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster, and Delaney. The psalm twining. The psalm.
Andy Cortez
Beautiful.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
The S O M. What does that mean? The psalm.
Andy Cortez
Oh, I thought it was P S, A L, M. Like the Bible.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Like the Bible.
Andy Cortez
He loves poetry. I love that.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Delaney. The. So L M S O M M.
Andy Cortez
Oh, S o M M. Okay, let me look it up.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
The sum. The psalm twining. He added that to his name.
Andy Cortez
Psalm. It's a. It was a film in 2012. Somalia.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Somalia.
Andy Cortez
Oh, cool.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
So he's, like, into wine, which I think he's called into the happy hour to talk about.
Andy Cortez
Really?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yes.
Andy Cortez
That's amazing.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Oh, good for that. Today we're brought to you by Cash App and Mood. We'll tell you about that later. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have nine stories today. Baker's does it. My phone was vibrating out of control. I thought it was gonna be Greg clarifying the.
Andy Cortez
The Greg Way situation.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It's Gary Whitta. Gary Widdows texting me. He says, I can't believe you dissed me like that. Listen, now I know that Gary's watching for sure. You're. Listen, there's room for growth. I can't lie. I've established the content that I'm not a good liar. All right, listen, we can all get better together, right Is what I'm saying.
Andy Cortez
Right. Right.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
You know, we started off rough there, but we Got better as the night went, and there's still space to get even more better.
Andy Cortez
And I. And I don't want to. Here's the thing. I'm not trying to cast. I'm not trying to throw stones in glass houses, right? But, you know, I hadn't touched the game since beta, and immediately, a lot of chirping.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
A lot of chirping.
Andy Cortez
A lot of chirping about coming from who? A lot of chirping from somebody who was like, you know, I thought the kind of funny squad was going to be better. What's going on here? And I'm just like, all right, you know, I'm not that great right now. Give me a little sec to kind of figure it out. And because of all the chirping, I. I was expecting a lot more. I'll just say that there were a lot of moments where Gary Witte's character in goalie somehow does, like, a sidestep instead of a dive. He's like, I don't even know what button I hit.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
No, wait, I thought. Here's the thing. I thought Gary was gonna show up. And, yeah, I thought he was gonna be the Lionel Messi of our team.
Andy Cortez
Me, too.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I thought he was gonna, like, for as much soccer as you watch, you would expect that man to, like, have that training on the field. And, like, here's the thing. I think it was nice to have, I think a lot of us, you know, on, like, the same playing field. Andy, who hasn't picked up the game since beta, and Gary, who, I checked his hours, has, like, 50 hours in the game.
Andy Cortez
There's no way.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I'm like, where are all those hours going, Gary?
Andy Cortez
You just leave it running. Like, what's going on here?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
He just leaves. Yeah, he just left the game on.
Andy Cortez
But.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
But I want to play more.
Andy Cortez
With all, I enjoyed it. All due respect, you know, it comes from a place of love. Comes from a place of love.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It does it. I have steam open right now. I can actually check to see how many hours Gary has. Hold on. Oh, yeah. 53.4 hours played recently.
Andy Cortez
No way. In a way, I have, like, 20.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Hours in the game.
Andy Cortez
Just for the record, man, you were. Chad. Bless the special dude.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I was locked in. We didn't do some rematch.
Andy Cortez
He was special.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
We got throw or participate in a rematch tournament. I need. I need to get into the esports world in this game.
Andy Cortez
Although I already don't like the meta of the bounce off the wall into the kick. I'm already annoyed by it.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, but once you get used to it. That shit doesn't phase you anymore. You just wait for it. You know people are going to do it.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Story number one Donkey Kong Bonanza previews are here. I got a preview roundup for you. Let's start off with Christopher Cruz at Rolling Stone, who titles his preview Donkey Kong Bonanza makes Nintendo's Great Ape into a king Again Rolling Stone recently attended a preview event of Donkey Kong Bonanza, going hands on with multiple sections of the game over the course. My phone's vibrating again. I'm not checking it. I'm not checking it over the course of the two hour session. Based on our early impressions, Nintendo's latest is more than just a return to form for a classic character, it could be one of the series best entries ever. Gameplay wise, Bonanza looks to differentiate itself from other 3D Nintendo games by emphasizing DK's raw strength and speed. The character is agile on foot, able to stop on a dime and whiz in every direction using a tuck and roll mechanic. He can also barrel along at high speed or dive forward to extend jumps across chasms, but it's the symbiotic pairing of DK's power that's the real game changer. Unlike other characters that need to jump on enemies to defeat them, DK can throw an endless stream of haymaker punches in all directions and can even rip chunks of rock in the ground itself out to throw with precision. I'm going to jump out of that preview jump into another preview from Megan Farokmanesh at Wired, who titles her preview Donkey Kong. Bonanza could be the next killer game the Switch to needs. It reads like this Much of Bonanza is about smashing things. The environments are highly destructible from top to bottom, and it's therapeutic to spend your time windmilling DK's hammy arms through the floor itself. The more you destroy, the more likely you are to find treasure or more areas to explore, so it's worth treating the game's world like a rage room. Donkey Kong Bonanza is goofy, easily digestible, and enjoyable to spend time with. The game's world is beautiful and fun to destroy, while the true depths of it seem impressive. And then lastly, I want to hop into a preview from Scott Stein at cnet, who titles his preview I played Donkey Kong bonanza. It's the Switch 2's killer ape.
Andy Cortez
No, that's good.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
What I love about Bonanza is how vast and new it all feels. I got vibes and styles from all sorts of Nintendo games. It's a huge 3D platformer, but it has 2D throwback moments, just like Super Mario Odyssey did. The smash everything. Gameplay involving digging tunnels and unearthing treasure feels at times like Minecraft and at times like Zelda. Tears of the kingdom's craft. Everything. Freedom. The bright colors and bold characters remind me of Splatoon. The big multi tier levels I explored and tried to find secrets in evoked the larger levels in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Andy, do these previews make you more excited for the game?
Andy Cortez
These are kind of expected for me at least. I expected whatever previews that were going to come out to be very, very positive on it. Being this big playroom, being this big, sort of the rage room, I think is sort of the perfect way to put it. And I, I do wonder what lengths you can go with the destruction because obviously you still have to have. You have to have a game at some point. So I don't. Obviously not everything will be destructible, but it's super exciting and super positive. So far it sounds great. Sounds like something that people can easily get lost in. And I love the idea of just of not only destroying things to unlock secrets, but the like finding more secret places to explore. Sounds really damn cool.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, I'm like excited to see more of what the layered stuff is as far as like going deeper into the world and like that being how you progress because that was the part where they stopped at the preview. Like once you went beneath the first layer they are introduced to, that's when like the representative. Representative looks at you and was like, all right, put down that controller.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, right.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Else you're done or else you're out of here. Like start over that preview. So yeah, a lot of these get me excited and like, I think the words I'm reading on the preview all sound like par for the course for what I expected out of the game. I think it's the tone of the previews that has me like even more excited. Right. Like as I was reading through more of these, a lot of them had the tone of like, this is what the Switch 2 needs right now. You know, we got the Mario Kart. Like we need something that is a bit more, I guess, crunchy, a bit more maybe it has a bit more depth to it. A single player adventure that you can spend time with and like, you know, collect all the things. And so for what I want out of this game, the previews are essentially telling me that, hey, this is, this is for you. This is exactly what you need right now from Nintendo.
Andy Cortez
I'm Hoping to have a lot of those playground style moments that a lot of us had with Breath of the Wild and with Odyssey and Tears of the Kingdom and everybody coming to work the next day and saying no, no, no, dude, actually throw this rock at that thing and then see what happens. Like I think the world is sort of. It seems like it's kind of that you. You are going to benefit from your curiosity. You're going to benefit from wanting to see what it. What all is breakable and at what lengths things can be broken. It seems like they just kind of want you to exist in this world with. And have fun with the platforming, but also exploration and discoverability. Like that's the stuff that has me really pumped up about it.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Kevin, I have a link at the bottom of the previews here that Tim shared in the KHD Slack. I haven't watched this video yet, but it's a tweet from Stealth who says the Bramble Scramble Inspired Challenge level in Dong Kong Bonanza includes a new Sticker Brush Symphony remix.
Andy Cortez
Oh, get out of town.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And I kind of want to listen to this live. And so if you're like blackout on. You don't even want to hear the soundtrack. Maybe skip forward once you see the video get pulled up. But I want to, I want to like hear this because I'm a big. I mean I think everybody in the video game world loves me when it comes up in Smash and they have the remix to it. Insane.
Andy Cortez
There it is. I hear.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Also, I'm just excited for levels like this cuz for audio listeners, the they're going through a 2D bramble level here. Very much inspired by Rainbow Blast with a lot of destruction. Also they're breaking through. Hella. I'll be honest, I might need headphones cuz this sounds exactly just like.
Andy Cortez
It didn't sound like a remix so far. Yeah, I don't know how long it goes.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Kevin's turning up for us. I'm not hearing the newness it sounds. Sure. It's a new mix.
Andy Cortez
Very similar. Same sort of instruments being used. I was expecting a Super Mario Kart style.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
You know, not necessarily jazz, but you know, it's totally recreated.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
All right, that's enough. That's good here. Unless there's a. Yeah, no, there's only 10 seconds left.
Andy Cortez
I mean I'm gonna hit pause. I'm gonna turn down the sound effects to. To 2.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yes.
Andy Cortez
Look DK, you're making a little too much noise out there. Yeah, you're you and Dorothy or whatever the her name is Pauline.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
But yes, sure. Breaking all this.
Andy Cortez
Too much. Yeah, enough. I need Sticker Bus Infinity to be the main character in this level right now.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
How. How do we get me, you and Tim to become the Audio Digital Foundry?
Andy Cortez
Oh, man.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
You know what I mean? Like, we go in and listen. Do I know about audio? Not really, but I can learn.
Andy Cortez
But you can hear and I can hear. Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And I'm losing my hearing for sure because headphones are always on blast. But, like, yeah, I'm going to need to turn the all down, turn down all those sound effects and like, listen in to hear the differences here because I'm not getting the experience.
Andy Cortez
But like, I do that in so many games. I just turned down. You know, a lot of. A lot of times in Souls, games turn down sound effects to about seven music up to 10. Oh, yeah, let that. Let that orchestra just, you know, sing through my. To my soul.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Well, speaking of DK Bonanza story number two, Nintendo confirms that Donkey Kong Bonanza is being made by. By the Mario Odyssey team. This is Victoria Phillips Kendi at Eurogamer. Nintendo famously keeps its various game developers under wraps, with the team responsible for a release often only coming to light once the credits roll. However, in a change from the norm, Nintendo revealed the Donkey Kong Bonanza development team during a recent preview event attended by Eurogamer. At the event, Nintendo confirmed what we all suspected. Donkey Kong Bonanza, the upcoming platformer heading to Switch two is being helmed by. By the. By the team that brought us Super Mario Odyssey. In the words of Nintendo itself, quote, the development team of Donkey Kong Bonanza is the same as from Super Mario Odyssey, end quote. So that means that is coming from the production team of Nintendo's famed entertainment planning and development group, known for crafting the Switch's premiere 3D Mario adventure.
Andy Cortez
Okay, so that one tweet several weeks ago that we kind of read was not true because this was one that Tim was wanting to read it and said, you know, I have no. I don't know if this is. If this is true at all, but it was a tweet saying that it was a smaller team from EPD that broke off to do this and they sort of formed their own thing while the Mario Odyssey team is still sort of doing other stuff or whatever. But if this is all epd, then this sort of confirms a lot of suspicions that we had. Makes a lot of sense.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. I don't. Wouldn't be surprised if maybe, like, there is like a sectioned off part of EPD that is like they're still part of EPD proper, but they're putting in all their work on the game, even if it's like most of EPD or however. I don't listen. The inner workings of Nintendo, I have no fucking idea.
Andy Cortez
Nobody does.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
So secretive over there.
Andy Cortez
We know more about the FBI.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I mean 100%. I can tell you about the CIA right now. More than I can tell you about.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Dan Bonjino, whatever the fuck that guy's name is from Fox News.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. But like I think I. Part of me would be very surprised if they weren't also working on the next 3D Mario game. I expect to see that in the next two years. And maybe that means that maybe DK Benanes has been finished for a while and like they've just been doing polishing and adding in 3D art sculptoring and shit like that, while also getting ramped up on 3D Mario production. But I don't think. And this is going to be a prediction, right? This is going to be egg on my face by 2027. If we don't have a 3D Mario, I'll be fucking shocked from this team. I would be flabbergasted.
Andy Cortez
Okay, so okay, somewhere. Somewhere on here. Hold up, hold up, hold up. I have a. I got the list of all of the. I got the list of all the studios. Right. Okay. So we know Retros doing prime. We know EPD is working on this. But you're assuming that not full EPD is working on this.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I think it's the. It's the same way in which like trying to think of an example maybe like. Like when Naughty Dog was making last wasn't Uncharted concurrently. Insomniacs making Ratchet and Spider man concurrently.
Andy Cortez
So somewhere in the depths of Nintendo there's an An Odyssey follow up or just the next Mario thing being made right now, 1,000%. And you're putting 2027 on that?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I'm putting. If we don't see it by the end of 2027, color me. I would. Honestly, I expect to see it next year at least.
Andy Cortez
A reveal next year.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
No, I could see it being released next year.
Andy Cortez
Really?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
A 3D? Yeah. You don't go. You don't go that many years, so.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. You don't go that many years of off of releasing a new Nintendo console, especially another Switch, without having a new 3D Mario. I think this year is fine because like you have Mario Kart, which like holds down the fort as far as that. And then you have Donkey Kong, which I don't. I think it would be tough to release a 3D Donkey Kong and a 3D Mario and a Mario Kart all within the same year. That's just doing too much. Right. Like you kind of have it covered between DK Mario and then you have like more games in the slate between Metroid and Kirby Air Riders and like all the shit that you're doing. It's a busy time for Nintendo this year. They don't need the 3D Mario. I think next year you're always getting a Mario game. Every year you're always getting a Mario game. Whether it be party, whether it be a sports game, whether it be 3D, 2D, whatever it is. So no matter what, we're getting a Mario next year and the year after. It's just a matter of what is that Mario. I, I think it would make sense for it to be 3D. Yeah. Especially with the movie coming out.
Andy Cortez
I, I definitely think you're right. Especially because EPD works on so many other things as well all of the time. You know, looking back to 2022, it's, it's Switch Sports, it's Splatoon 3, it's Tears of the Kingdom and everybody. 1, 2, Switch. They're co developing that with somebody. Pikmin 4, they're co developing it with 8, 18. Oh yeah, super Mario Wonder. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is them. 2024, they got the World Championship NES Edition co developed with Indy Zero. We got Echoes of Wisdom Co developed with Grezzo. 2025, Mario Kart World Bonanza, Dragon Drive welcome Tour.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
They work over there. They work, they work over there.
Andy Cortez
Splatoon Raiders.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Granted, I wouldn't be surprised. Do we even know how many people work at epd? Because if you told me it was a thousand people, I'd be like, all right, that makes sense.
Andy Cortez
I, I, yeah, I don't know. But Splatoon Raiders is EPD as well. At least that's what Wikipedia is saying. But who knows? Who knows?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Plus who knows? I just feel like I'd be it. It just feels like it's time. It's been, I mean, Mario Odyssey was 2017. It's been eight years. We've had two God of Wars since the last 3D Mario. Think about that.
Andy Cortez
That's so true. Yeah. The Super Mario Bros. Follow up movie is also slated for 2026. April.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Dude, timing those out. I know Nintendo isn't like the type to like really purposely try to time something out like that. Especially because video game development and movie development is like, different as far as timelines. And it's really hard to make those things sync up. But if you can. If you can make the Mario movie year for like, coming off of your last very successful Mario movie, if you can make that line up with a 3D Mario. Money in the money in the bank.
Andy Cortez
They seem like they've also just kind of had a lot of games ready. They seem like they've had a lot of things cooking.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And ready to be released. And it all just sort of depends on whenever they. Whenever they want to pull the trigger on it.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Well, we'll see. Speaking of Switch, story number three. Switch 2 appears to have sold 5 million consoles worldwide in a single month. This is Adam Newell at Destructoid. The Switch 2 appears to have sold 5 million units worldwide in June, according to Nintendo's official finance site, which is quite staggering. The image showcasing the sales has since been taken down, which could allude to either a Nintendo mistake or. Or projected sales. But was caught before the update when he checked out Nintendo's official finance website and clicked quarterly. Total sales in June 2025 included 1 million Nintendo Switch consoles and a staggering 5 million Switch 2 consoles to make 6 million total console sales for that month across the board for Nintendo. For comparison, the PS5 was able to sell 3.4 million units in the first four weeks of release during the COVID 19 pandemic. The first month of sales of the Xbox Series X was not publicly revealed by Microsoft. The Switch also sold 15 million units in its first year. So the Switch 2 was able to sell a third of the Switch's first year sales in a single month.
Andy Cortez
Good lord. I mean, money in the bank. Money.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Money in the bank.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I mean, that comes back to. I think it was either Megan's article for her preview or one of these other ones that was essentially like, hey, for. Oh, actually, no, it was Megan, because Megan basically referenced Matt Piscatella who is saying that, hey, like, Switch hardware is flying off shells. Right. What's really going to, I think, establish whether this is a good launch year overall, not just on the hardware, because obviously on the hardware it is, but overall is going to be like the months following the switch 2 and seeing if those games deliver. And like Donkey Kong is going to be a big factor in that. Metro is going to be a big factor in that. Right. Like I'm so fascinated to see because we know Mario Kart World sales are off the chain. Is that going to translate to DK in a similar way? Right. Or like, is that going to translate to Metroid in the same way. I'm so fascinated to see the attachment rate for those games. You have 60% of like, the Switch 2 owners buying Don Kong, because if so, man, you're launching off that new, I guess, 3D Donkey Kong series in a fantastic way.
Andy Cortez
I think a lot of it is people. Yeah. Like, I. I don't know how easily we can make these sort of parallels. And, And I would love to see the amount of people my age, mid-30s, late-30s, early-40s, early, you know, around that sort of millennial era of the. The lack of house and vehicle purchasing. A lot of that stuff kind of goes in line with, with each other where, yeah, I can't afford all this other stuff, so I can buy this to kind of, you know, ease my sorrows for a bit. And that. I think that's why we see some of these entertainment purchases being made where, well, I'm not gonna have a, you know, 800 house payment or 500 house payment, but these little entertainment things, these little, like, you know, retail therapy sort of purchases can be made. So I, I do wonder if at any point we see the hardware slow down, if, you know, we get that first big boom. You got to assume there's also scalpers and things like that in that first sort of big boom. Not saying that that would account for a whole lot of it, but I would be really interested to see where we're at, like in October.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Know how. What's the pace looking like so far?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I also think Nintendo is just a different beast, though, when it comes to the video game market. Like, I look at them in the same way, kind of in a same but very different way. Right. That I look at a Fortnite or I look at. When we see the reports from people like Matt, there are people like, who are in more the financial side of video games coverage saying that, hey, the top 10 out of the top 10 most played games right now, six of them are old. Like, it is pubg. It is FIFA. It is Call of Duty. It is gta. Right? Like, these are the games that stick around and stay around and that like, like suck up so much of the, I guess, like, audience bandwidth that like, not as many people might be buying new things because guess what? Hey, I'm still playing Call of Duty. I'm still playing XYZ game. I think Nintendo. Not that they're immune to it, but I feel like they're kind of a part of the conversation as far as, oh, people will show up to buy Nintendo hardware. Anyway, right. Because Nintendo is just, you look at them as a different thing. Like they're like their presence in the game space is almost like, well, I have to buy the new Nintendo. Like, I have to buy the new Switch. There's a tweet or a Blue sky post that went up today at 7:30 from Matt Piscatella where he tweeted, video game spend among people who are 18 to 24 is down sharply. Quote, young grads are having a much tougher time finding jobs. Student loan payments are restarting for millions of borrowers. Credit card delinquency rates have risen to their highest points since before the pandemic. And I think that's kind of to your point of like the state of the world and how does that affect people buying video games? But like the fact that like video game spend is down that sharply among that demographic, but Switch to is fucking like, yeah, it's the best selling console ever.
Andy Cortez
Well, that's why I got to assume that the, whatever the age bracket is above the 18 to 24 is where the spending is happening, where you have people with full time jobs and you have people maybe too scared to, you know, I mean, now we're getting into like the lifestyle of people like trying to have kids and trying to buy a house and stuff like that and maybe delaying the next part of their lives where the new big purchases start to pop up. And I think those are the, you know, 18 to 24, the people having trouble getting jobs. I think the people over in the age bracket above them, the people with jobs, the people with disposable income going, yeah, I'll buy that new Nintendo Switch too. But it doesn't surprise me that 18 to 24 is plummeting.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, they're like, no, I'm gonna play a free to play game. Yeah, I'm gonna play Fortnite on my phone.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Because that's all I have.
Andy Cortez
Marvel Rival.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And I think the parent part, like I was on the phone with my sister the other day and she was like, yeah, I think I got to buy the kids a Switch too. And I was shocked to hear that come out of her mouth. Because like just maybe four years ago I remember having a conversation with her being like, yeah, I'm not going to buy my kids video games because I don't want them to get addicted. Because I remember you as a kid talking to me. She was like, I remember, like, you wouldn't stop playing your video games. And I'm like, you know what? Fair? And so what I did was that I bought a console for them. I was like, their mom's not going to buy it for them. I'm going to buy them because I bought them an Xbox One S. And then like, I think about a year later, I. I gave them my OG Switch.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And like now we're at a place where she's like, oh, yeah, I think I had to buy a Switch too. They're asking about it like they really want it. Like, I. I think, yeah, that age bracket that's right above, like, maybe the. A couple of age brackets. Like both the one right above and then right, right above that. Right. Like the people who are having kids and like, really serve them. I'm sure any parents right now with children are fucking like, God damn it, I got to fucking buy this fucking thing. We got one more nint before we move on. Story number four. Nintendo is changing the Switch price for millions of people soon. This is Eddie at Gamespot. Nintendo has strongly suggested that the original Switch is about to get more expensive for millions of people in Canada. Nintendo said it'll change price. Prices on the Switch family of consoles, including the Switch, Switch Lite and Switch oled. Physical and digital Switch games and accessories could be getting more expensive in Canada as well, along with the Nintendo Switch online subscriptions and Amiibo toys. Nintendo's announcement did not say if pricing is going up or down, only that a pricing update is coming. Very ominous. But many, many believe this will be a price increase due to the wording specifically mentioning that change. The changes are coming due to market conditions. GameSpot has contacted Nintendo in an attempt to get more information. This is one that broke, like, I think during the show yesterday, but I wanted to save it for today to make it a proper news story.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I mean, even more encouragement to get that too, you know.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, yeah. Right. How much is it? Like what. Yeah, what's the price of a Switch 2 in. Or a Switch 1 in Canada? Because, yeah, at that point, if I'm. If I'm at the Best Buy shelves or whatever they have in Canada, but I guess best by Canada. Yeah, if I'm at the Canadian. I don't know why I was thinking.
Andy Cortez
Like, well, no, it used to be called Car Phone Warehouse.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Really.
Andy Cortez
Way back in the day. Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
No way.
Andy Cortez
I went to a Best Buy training one time where they like, yeah, Best Buy mobile phone training. They told us the whole history about it. Car Phone Warehouse used to be a place.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It's like GameStop and EB Games.
Andy Cortez
Yes, yeah. Very, very similar. Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
But, yeah, If I'm going to the store and I'm like, all right, I can get a Switch 2 for 450, or I can get a Switch 1 for 400 and I see a Switch 2 for 450. It's like, all right, well, this decision is kind of made for me kind of thing. I'm sure it's not that bad, but.
Andy Cortez
Oh, it was car from warehouse in the uk. My bad.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. I think it's just called because isn't Best Buy. No, it's Walmart Canada. It's always leaking shit.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Goddamn Walmart Canada.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Like, Best Buy Canada probably also leaks ship, but they get away with it because everybody's thinking about Walmart.
Andy Cortez
This is sort of. This is the medium popcorn conundrum.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Like, you know, the small is $10, the medium is 17, and the large is 18, and it's like, oh, well, just for one more dollar, I can get the large. Like, I, you know, as a consumer being put in that position to go, oh, well, the switch one is more expensive now. Yeah, might as well get the two if it's only this much more. You know, I, I don't know if that's necessarily even the strategy. Yeah, I don't know why this. I got to assume it's manufacturing of the chipsets. You know, I have no idea.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Is this the first time that a console has. And we, we don't have confirmation, but you assume it's getting a price increase? This is the first time a console is getting a price increase. And after the sequel console has come out, could you imagine if Sony called us today and they're like, yo, we're, we're increasing the price of the PS3. I'd be like, oh, wait, wait.
Andy Cortez
And the PS4 is up 50 bucks now.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
PS4 is up 50 bucks.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, kind of odd. I mean, it's, it's gotta be. I don't, I don't recall ever. I mean, usually you just think about those consoles going down in price. Yeah, I think about my time going back and being like, oh, I'm Gonna buy the PS3 Slim because it's, you know, super cheap and it's a smaller little product or whatever. Yeah. I can't imagine any other, any other time in history where the predecessor has gone up in price. Very, very odd. Real quick, before we toss the ads, I just wanted to throw out that the 3D Mario team is EPD number 8, EPD group 8, man. Because they have like 10 to 12 business groups there. So EPD 8 makes 3D Mario EPD 3 makes Zelda. So they got a buttload of teams working on a buttload of things during a buttload of times.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
That's crazy that they do it that way. I get it because it's like, all right, we don't want people to look at our EPDs differently, but it's like, you know, just name one of them. Insomnia. Yeah, name another one. Naughty Dog. Have some fun with it. Andy. Of course, if you're in Canada and you want to get a switch one, you got to buy it now so you can get the bang for your buck. But if you want a bigger bang for your buck, go over to patreon.com kind of funny YouTube.com kind of funny games where you can get the kind of funny membership which allows you to get shows ad free. And speaking of ads, let us tell you about our sponsors.

Blessing Adioa Jr.
Andy, I want to wish you a happy Canada Day. July 1.
Andy Cortez
Can't believe Nintendo's doing this.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I know, it's so messed up.
Andy Cortez
Messed up.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And they did it yesterday, so they're alive. Do you think somebody in the Nintendo office was like, guys, we can't do it on the 1st. We got to get a day ahead so we can dodge this bullet.
Andy Cortez
It's your birthday, I'm going to break the news, I'm divorcing you or something like that.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
You know, it's like, it's like how Greg was like, I. I can't do my parade on pride. Yeah, we got to do it the day before.
Andy Cortez
Really messed up.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
We got to avoid it. We got to avoid it.
Andy Cortez
That's really, really tough.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Before we get into the next story, I want to read some super chats real quick. CJ splits and writes in and says, what's the next Nintendo IP you're hoping gets the red carpet treatment from Nintendo like DK and Kirby got. I really want a new Star Fox from this team. I mean, Star Fox is a really good call out.
Andy Cortez
Star Fox is a good call out. I just, when I think of Star Fox, I think of how I feel about vehicular combat games where I just don't know if a game based around only doing like Star Fighting and stuff like that. I don't know if. I just don't know if I, if I want a full game of that. Now granted, you know, Star Fox Adventures had him out of the ship or whatever, but yeah, I don't know.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
No, you're gonna do that. You gotta make it a banger.
Andy Cortez
Like. Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And that stuff like I, you know.
Andy Cortez
I don't know if that genre really works with me. If that's like the full time genre for the full time. If like that.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I feel like that can't be a 15 hour campaign. Like I feel like if you make a new Star Fox, it has to be like a four hour game.
Andy Cortez
Damn.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Like it has to be maybe like a two hour campaign that's like replayable in different paths and all this stuff like how Star Fox kind of is. Yeah, but that doesn't. I don't think that lends itself to something bigger and like red carpet treatment.
Andy Cortez
What IPS are you thinking of?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Here's the thing, and this is going to sound like I'm joking and I am, but a few nights ago I was playing pilot Wing 64 just because I think out of just random nostalgia because I got this when I, when I was a kid I had a VHS tape that was the promotional N64 VHS tape that like basically was like they got a bunch of like fake professional gamers to like play the roles of people who got to see the N64 before it was actually out. And so they were like we got the best gamers in the country to come out to this warehouse to check out the N64 and is them playing Mario 64 for the first time and it's the 90s so they're like whoa, rad. Wow. That's off the chain.
Andy Cortez
Where did this. How did you get this?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
They just sent it in the mail.
Andy Cortez
Who. Who sent it?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I don't know. I was like 4 years old and like this is like here's the thing. I. I got it late because I was 4 years old in like 98. And so it was must. It must have been a thing where like maybe my parents got this thing and put it in the closet. Or like maybe when he's ready we'll show. When he's old enough we'll give him the pre launch N64 he's going to learn. But like one of the games they showed off was pilotwings.
Andy Cortez
Okay.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And like on a whim a few days ago I just went on YouTube and I looked up the promotional video just to watch it again, just for like old nostalgia. And I got to the Pilot Wings part and something happened in my brain where I was like I need to play Pilot Wings right now. So I started playing Pilot Wings because it's on NC4 online, right. And I was like man, I. With this. I know we don't talk about Pilot Wings like that and I understand why. It's a bare bones flying game.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Like why the would we talk about Pilot Wings but, like, there's a part of my. My nostalgia that would love to see Pilot Wings come back.
Andy Cortez
Can you imagine Pilot Wings given that treatment?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It'd be insane.
Andy Cortez
We would all be on this. Let's be like, why are they doing this?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
But it's Nintendo, so it kind of make it. They brought back Survival Kids.
Andy Cortez
Survival Kids.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Remember Survival Kids? Is the konami like Snowboard Kids? No, it's. They announced it during the Switch 2 thing. They're like, oh, Survival Kids.
Andy Cortez
Oh, wow.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
But it's like a reboot of a Game Boy game.
Andy Cortez
The Game Boy Color game. Yeah. Okay. Man. I don't know what I would want to see given that treatment. I just want a Mario Sports game to not be. Oh, yeah, just quickly shit out.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Mario sluggers, the baseball win.
Andy Cortez
I honestly, anything. I just don't want to. I want to see the next Mario Sports game to not just be this thing that. It feels like they're having to hit a quota because the last several have felt so underwhelming.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
That was EPD 9, man. 9 was just pumping those out.
Andy Cortez
They're like, do we have any PD13? Like, I don't think so. Yeah, I just. I don't know. I was just really, really disappointed with the last several, you know, versions of that. Like, I can't believe that they came out. It's easy for us to remember how disappointing Strikers was.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
But then I also, in my mind go, maybe the next Mario Golf game can be great. I'm like, oh, my God, they did come out with Mario Garfield.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
They came up with. Came out with pretty much all the sports games except for baseball, Mario G, Mario Garf. They came out with tennis and, like, it was fun for like a week.
Andy Cortez
Tennis was like, probably the best of all of them.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I agree with.
Andy Cortez
And still not amazing.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
You know, but golf is such a missed opportunity, such a disappointment.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I. Do you think they look at the EPDs and like, the same. The same way that I look at the expeditions from Expedition 33, where it's like, you read some of the notes and you're like, damn, this expedition was kind of whack. But then you. But then you read the Expedition 60 note and you're like, Damn, Expedition 60s off the chain.
Andy Cortez
These guys are crazy.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I feel like Nintendo EPDs is somewhat thing where, like, they played Mario Odyssey and they're like, yo, what do they. What do they put over there in that epd?
Andy Cortez
Do they walk by each other? Like, the different branches in Severance where they just kind of like. Like, do they know do they interact.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Is like working with goats and what the is happening?
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And they're like, ah, don't worry, we're making an animal. We gotta, we gotta work with real life goats. Story number five, Outriders 2 was real, almost finished, and then incinerated. This is Paul Tassi. At first, Forbes, you don't got to.
Andy Cortez
Use the word incinerated, Paul Tassie. You're just, you're just.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
He's adding sauce.
Andy Cortez
Driving the steak deeper into my heart.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
The looter shooter genre has not had all that many new entries in many years. Now after a number of games tried and failed to replicate the success of titles like Borderlands, the Division, Warframe and Destiny, but one really gave its best effort. Outriders, but ultimately did not blossom into a long running series. It almost did. According to a new report from the Thumb wars, one of the two canceled games from the beleaguered People Can Fly. Project Gemini was in fact Outriders 2. Not only that, but the report says that the game was nearly finished before it was unceremoniously axed in early June, which also came with a number of layoffs. It's not the biggest surprise. This was one of the games. But if it was this late in development, what a tragedy. We.
Andy Cortez
I just, I'm just so. I'm so incensed right now.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Incensed.
Andy Cortez
I'm angry. Is intense the word. I'm pretty sure it is.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I mean, you're probably right. I just haven't heard.
Andy Cortez
Super pissed. Incense, possibly.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
No. Yeah, very angry and ranged. I'm gonna start using that.
Andy Cortez
I like Vexed because I, I like Vex. Yeah, because I just like, hey billionaires, why do you exist if not to fun, cool video games? You know what I mean? Like, if I had a lot of money, I would just throw it at them and go, finish that game. Please. I want. I'm so sad that a. A game that came out that kind of was a really, really mechanically solid video game. I'm not going to say that the story or the cutscenes were anything amazing, but this game was so fun to play. It felt great. Keyboard, mouse. It was like, man, this is a, this is a fun experience. The boss fights are great. I enjoy the sort of loop. I enjoy upgrading my weapons. I had the little acid turret with.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
That, you know, like that was a fun time, dude.
Andy Cortez
It, it was such a solid video game. And it is one of those examples that a lot of other developers can point to and a lot of people in the industry can point to and go, that game that Just came out was exactly what you all have been wanting. Not exactly. Right. Not, you know, if it was like a 10 out of 10 maybe. But it's. It wasn't filled to the brim of Michael Transactions. It wasn't this.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It was meant to be like a long like live online. Yeah. For years and years.
Andy Cortez
We're not trying to be the forever game that was that. They kept on coming out with statements like that we are not trying to be destiny. We're not trying to be a game that you are going to be here for seasons and season seasons. You will beat this game. You will maybe play the DLC and then you will have fun and move on with your life. And it was so perfect at filling that void. And it obviously didn't sell well enough to justify a sequel. I guess it justified. It sold well enough to justify developing a lot of a sequel.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
But not actually coming out. And it's just. It's such a bummer, man.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I think it's the thing where you get close enough at the time you, you. I think it's the environment where you greenlight versus the environment where they're about to release where I think I could see it coming off of Outriders one where they're like, all right, cool, we had something here. All right, let's make another one. Let's make it bigger and better. And they start getting there and they're like, all right, cool. We had more money when we greenlit this. Now that we're about to release, like shit's looking kind of grim right now and we need to start making cuts. It's about to. It's. It's almost finished. Like you can get it out by early 2020. Let's say 2026. Yeah. But like it's gonna cost a lot of money for marketing and getting it to the finish line and doing all that stuff and we really need to tighten up. So. No, that. That breaks my heart. You know, that's like. That's. People spent years on doing that. Right. And that happens all the time within the games industry and we usually don't know because things get canceled behind the scenes and. But either way, like still makes me sad because I think an Outriders 2 could have been really cool in the same way that, you know, I feel like we get these games not as frequently now. You know, I know we got Warhammer 2 well last year, last fall and that seemed to be a moment as well, like within the office, like streaming.
Andy Cortez
That fun ass game.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. A lot of people are having fun with that. I feel like we should be getting. I feel like there's, there's definitely an audience for that style of game that like should be served. Like. I, I assume the sales were probably there for Warhammer 2 or at least if you scope well enough like I feel you can hit it, but who knows.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. I mean outriders one was 2021 and they are co developing Gears of War E day with the coalition.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. Which Gears of War is going to feed people for sure.
Andy Cortez
For sure. Yeah. It's just ah, it's so.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Gears of War reloaded. Is that what it's called? That's coming out next month. I'm trying to play that.
Andy Cortez
Did they play that or, or no, sorry.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
This is just me making another like.
Andy Cortez
Excited for that third person genre come back. Yeah, yeah. Just a real big bummer. You know. I really enjoyed the progression in that game. I had a lot. Even though, you know, I always kind of made fun of the voice acting because, I don't know, just, I mean it was hilarious. It always felt very, you know, B list double A. But the gameplay was so freaking solid.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And, and it kept us in.
Andy Cortez
Love throwing that little turret out. Love throwing that special move, figuring out the boss mechanics. It's a fun ass game.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Story number six 11 bit studios acknowledges the use of AI generated text in the alters this is Lewis Packwood at Games Industry Biz. The developer behind the Altars has acknowledged that AI generated text was used in small portions of the finished game, as reported by Eurogamer and others. Players noticed that one section of the Altars featured a computer terminal that appeared to show AI generated text, including the prompt used to generate the text. In addition, some people have reported issues with portions of the translated text in some languages, such as Korean, which appear to have been AI generated. Players were quick to point out that according to Steam's rules, any game that uses AI generated assets must flag this on the game's Steam page, which the Alters did not do when it released on June 13th. Now 11 bit studios has responded, confirming that AI generated text was used in some parts of the Altars. In a statement posted on Blue sky, the company said that, quote, AI generated assets were used strictly as temporary work in progresses during the development process and in a very limited manner. Our team has always prioritized meaningful handcrafted storytelling as one of the foundations of the game, it continues. End quote. The statement goes on to explain that the placeholder computer terminal text was never intended to be a part of the final release and was left in due to an internal oversight. It adds that Following a review, 11 Bit Studios has confirmed this was an isolated case. Regarding the AI translated dialogue, the statement notes that a few licensed movies were added that quote required additional last minute translations. Quote, due to extreme time constraints, we chose not to involve our translation partners and had those videos localized using AI to have them ready on launch. The statement says it was. It was always our intention to involve our trusted translation agencies after release as part of our localization hotfix to ensure those texts would be handled with the same care and quality as the rest of the game. That process is now underway and updated translations are being implemented. In hindsight, we acknowledge this was the wrong call. End quote.
Andy Cortez
Kevin I posted on Assets exactly what they had, a little image that they had posted because they kind of showed off exactly where this segment takes place in a part of the base. And it's like it's right here and it's right here and they sort of like point out these little terminals that you can.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
How did people figure that out?
Andy Cortez
Well, because I think you click on it and then text pops up.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Oh, okay.
Andy Cortez
I'm assuming that I haven't played the game yet, but yeah, if it, I mean, if it wasn't an oversight, you know, I'm glad that they are correcting it.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Sucks that it happened in the first place, but it, it is nice to see them a lot more upfront with it. Yeah, you know, I, I think it's easy to, to be really negative and go, oh well, you're only doing this because you got caught. But I, there, there are so many moving parts to game development that I think it's really easy for something so as simple as that to slip through the cracks. And yeah, I, you know, it's, it's unfortunate but they're fixing it and I'm glad that more of the. Now if more of the game turns out to have been AI generated and they start to discover more and more.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Assets, see that's where it gets tough.
Andy Cortez
That's a bummer.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Honestly, that's a bit where the story ends. Right? Because the second half of the story talking about. Oh yeah, and for the localization stuff, like we always intended to go back and fix it, but like, you know, we didn't want to involve our translators at the last second, but we're going to fix it in an update kind of thing. That's damning. That's not good. That is like, you know, objectively, oh, y' all fudged up there. Y' all shouldn't have done that. I'm not mad at the, the first part. Talking about placeholder things. For me, that's in the same. It's in the exact same vein of like when we see a Assassin's Creed trailer and there's like a painting that turns out to be like, somebody's art that they accidentally left in there, right? Like placeholder shit. People use placeholder shit all the time in development and like, before things get official, because, hey, I just need something to stand in here while I actually make the actual thing. Like, I'm not mad at that whatsoever. Obviously, Generative AI is everywhere on the spectrum from cringe to fucking terrible, right? Like, I understand the hate for Generative AI and I have. I have the same hate for Generative AI, but like, I don't get too mad at the placeholdership and I would hope that they're being genuine and saying, oh shit, like we wanted. We did not mean for this to be in the final release. You did mean for the translated AI dialogue to be in the final release. And so that's like the part where I'm like, oh, I don't like that. Like, you. Y' all shouldn't do that if you're doing that. Like, note it in the Steam thing the way that you're supposed to.
Andy Cortez
So own it. You know, own it.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Story number seven, Dead Take casts Neil Newbin and Ben Starr in lead roles. This is from Sal Romano at Gamatsu. Psychological horror game Dead take will feature Baldur's Gate Threes, Neil Newbin and Final Fantasy 16's Ben Starr in the lead acting roles. Pocket Pair Publishing and developer Surgeon Studios announced. Here's a brief overview of the game via Pocket Pair Publishing. Set in a luxurious yet secluded Hollywood Hills mansion, Deadpake casts players as an actor searching for his friend gone missing after a lavish Hollywood party. Excuse me. As they navigate escape room style puzzles and splice together videos they find. Along the way, players will uncover the darkest secrets behind the entertainment industry's glittering facade. Dead Take will launch for PC via Steam in 2025. Hell yeah. This is of course Abu's studio who last year released Tales of Genzera Zao. This is their follow up from last year. I think that was early last year. Yeah, it was like spring last year. So that's really cool that you're able to get Neil and Ben.
Andy Cortez
Awesome.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Of course, Neil who played Astarion, Ben who plays everybody.
Andy Cortez
Also Neil Newbon is in Liza P, which is a dlc. I mean, in the DLC we do.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Even Our VIN archiver in chat and the super chats writes in and says whatever it is. Blessed and Andy on ktd. I'll donate to bully blessing to playing Overture. I this is what I'll say about Lies Be Overture. And you're bullying. I can.
Andy Cortez
You're bullying.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I can be bullied to play if this turns into a. Because, like, it's not that I don't want to play Lies Be Overture. It's just that I'm anxious about starting it because I know it's going to be a big, like, commitment. I. It's, it's another, you know, souls, like, difficult action game is going to take a lot of hours, and it's gonna, it's gonna take a lot out of me. Every time I play these games, like, I leave apart myself behind. It's always that kind of thing. And so I'm a little bit resistant to start it. But, like, if y' all bull me enough, I will play it.
Andy Cortez
It's a good 15 hours. Good. Yeah, it's a good 15.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Here's the thing, though. I'm playing a game right now. That game, Donkey Kong Tropical. Oh, I'm playing Tropical Priorities. And let me tell you, I'm not trying to spoil the review because we do have a review scheduled for next week for Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze. All right. I'm finally playing it. That game is taking a part of me, like, in the way that I'm talking about, like, Lies of P and, like, these souls games being hard and, like, frustrating and, and, like, I leave with a part of myself.
Andy Cortez
So in a negative way, it's taking a party.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Tropical Freeze. I'm getting mad. I've never been so.
Andy Cortez
I'm so mad at this goddamn gorilla.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It's been a long time since I've been this frustrated playing a video game. What the. I'm going to save the rest of the review, but Jesus goddamn cr. I, I, I understand the funky mode now. I, I used to, I used to think that was a funny thing of, like, oh, okay, they're making the game easier. They're making a funky mode or whatever. Now I'm looking at that funky mode, and I'm like, do I need to boot this up? Do I need to put this on funky mode? Because what the Nintendo?
Andy Cortez
It's justified.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, it's totally justified. Like, it was hard for no reason. Story number 8, 2K possibly teases a return to college basketball. This comes directly from NBA2K on Twitter. Somebody tweeted at them. 2K should be making the college basketball game. NBA2K Co tweeted that and said the campus has been quiet for too long. It's kind of like a cheeky emoji, you know, face is kind of like, you know, what's good was good.
Andy Cortez
Shut up.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
We talked about this about yesterday, about EA in their college basketball game. Now 2K is jumping in on the action.
Andy Cortez
I mean, with nil and with all of these college athletes getting paid out the ass to play wherever they want, you know, Makes a lot of sense with 2k being the monetization factory that they are.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And I did see another tweet that was like, oh, man. You know, if. If this. If this 2K or if this new NCAA college basketball game has a cool sort of park mode and this and that. And I saw a quote to you being like, you all just need to understand a basketball game can just be a basketball game. We don't need a my park. We don't need a my campus. We don't need whatever. And I. I'm already like shuddering, you know, inside of things like, what are they gonna do to monetize the out of this game?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Dude, college football hitting last year and it becoming like, don't quote me on this, but like, I think the fastest or best selling sports game of all time. Like, that immediately made everybody who is involved in the sports games world look at each other and go, oh, shit. Like, what do we got to do? How do we get college sports back on the map? Yeah, I could. 2K for sure, is looking at the campus right now and being like, all right, like, how do we. How do we extract the money? Yeah, yeah, yeah. How do we extract the tuition from these kids?
Andy Cortez
The VC will be tuition.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah. So 2K and EA, them being on the college basketball race, Andy, that's big news.
Andy Cortez
Huge.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It's huge. But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I needed to know about, where would I go?
Andy Cortez
You'd go to our last story, the WE News channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Shout out to Melodic Quest and Marcus in the YouTube chat. Just doing the island and putting up the island. The Roman reigns like, salute. I would love a college WWE like 2K lawyer. Like, we gotta put college and everything. All right. Make a college wrestling game. I don't know. WE News story number nine, starting from vgc. Tony Hawk says he didn't force Ban Margera back into THPS three plus four, but he's glad Activision changed his mind in the last minute. We got new Xbox Game Pass games announced on the 1st. We're getting Little Nightmares 2 and Rise of the Rise of the Tomb Raider on the third. Ultimate Chicken Horse. Nice on the eighth. Yes. Sent on the ninth. Minami Lane on the 11th. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3 plus Ford. Man, I can't wait for that game on the 15th. High on life. And then for standard Xbox Game Pass, you're getting Trials of Mana and Legend of MANA. System Shock 2. 25th Anniversary Remaster launches July 10th. And then finally WWE 2K25 is coming to switch to on July 23rd. And that is it for WE News. Before we get out of here, let's check out the super chats real quick, see what y' all are saying. Rick L. Writes in and says David Dasmalian has been cast as M. Bison in Street Fighter. Let's go. Do you know who that is?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, Dastal Makin, he plays Dot man, he plays.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
No, this guy as M. Bison. This movie is going to be weird. This is gonna be a weird ass movie. I mean, these casting decisions are crazy.
Andy Cortez
I mean, he's got the look. I think he has the look. He doesn't have the mass. They can add mass. This dude is like one of the, like, whenever he's in a movie, I'm like, if this movie is bad, it won't be because of him. No, he always puts on an amazing performance and he's great with accents. He's great at like, you know, playing different roles. I think he can play an awesome. It. For me, it's more of like, how are they gonna make him look big? You know, he's a very skinny dude.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It's, it's the cat. Like the cast is filled with stars and names that we know in ways where I'm like, I don't, I don't know, I don't see these people working together to make like something that's like critically acclaimed.
Andy Cortez
I mean, we know it won't.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It reminds me so much of like the Borderlands movie or like Minecraft or whatever where I'm like, you guys are just casting stars. You weren't cast. You aren't crafting a film. Like you're making super Smash brothers with actors.
Andy Cortez
I mean, for, for the general gaming audience, you have to say, hey, we're making a Street Fighter movie. Which it's, you know, Street Fighter is obviously known to us, but Street Fighter isn't massive amongst the youngins. Sure, but you gotta go, hey, y' all young, youngins love 50 Cent.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
The kids. The kids love the kids. 50 yeah, the demographic of 18 to 24. They with 50 Cent.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
The man hasn't released a classic album since 2004. I. I assume that was get Richard die trying.
Andy Cortez
I see the Alex Fraser super chat. Also saying Starfox feels like such a good fit for Nintendo's new play your own Way ethos 2003 for wanting to bring back IP.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I could see that. I mean, make it play with the mouse.
Andy Cortez
Landon play. You know, play your own way in terms of like, you know, you do all aerial combat. Or you could be on the ground in that little stupid car or whatever he got.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Oh, I guess. Yeah. You know, thinking about the tears of the kingdom slash. Yeah, Donkey Kong kind of idea here.
Andy Cortez
Ivan quiz saying birthday tax. Celebrating next week by taking my son Cal to see his first Superman movie next week. Keep up the great work.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Happy birthday.
Andy Cortez
Happy birthday to you. And happy early birthday to bless.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, my birthday's tomorrow. I turn guess.
Andy Cortez
Let me guess.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
You always get this wrong.
Andy Cortez
You turn 31.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I do turn 31. That's nailed it.
Andy Cortez
Nailed it. Nailed it.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
This company keeps me young though. You know what I mean? Of course, I'm around a bunch of oldie oldies, around Greg Mueller, around me about to turn 50. And then we got JB Nifasios who writes in and says, love the Ben Starr interview. Need him to play the crew chief of the high wind in Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3. Hell yeah.
Andy Cortez
I'm the crew chief. I'm looking for Joshua.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And that is it for super chats. Let's take a look at kind of funny.com you're wrong where you write in, let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong so you can correct it. For those watching later on YouTube and listening later on podcast services around the globe, Tundra boy writes in and says, other than baseball, the only Mario sports series not receive a new entry is Mario Hoops the basketball game. I don't think I knew those. Mario Hoops basketball game.
Andy Cortez
I don't even know if I would want that. I guess when I think of Mario sports games, I wasn't really a strikers kid. I just think of golf and tennis and I want them back in a better way. Give them respect.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I agree with that. You know, I'm fucking shook right now by V in you're wrong. Who writes and says. Everyone says sticker brush symphony, but it's always been called sticker bush symphony. No R. I didn't know that.
Andy Cortez
What?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
I've been calling it sticker brush symphony my entire life.
Andy Cortez
Sticker.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Are you with me?
Andy Cortez
I mean, it says brush. Oh, it is Bush.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Holy shit. That's probably, like, one of the strongest Mandela effect things I've been hit with before. Sticker. Bush symphony. Yeah, it says right there. That's a crazy Mandela.
Andy Cortez
I'm speechless right now.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Holy animation.
Andy Cortez
My world just got rocked.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, no, I guess that makes sense. Sticker bush. I don't. I don't.
Andy Cortez
But, like, a brush of, like a. Of like, I think of sticker brushes. Like, yeah, brush. A brush of, like, shrubs or shrubbery. You know, like the brushes, you know.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
But, like, I would think, like, because it's on the bramble stage. So, like, the bushes are sticky.
Andy Cortez
Okay.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
We got one more from Bander, who writes in and says the original leaks for DK was that the Odyssey team was working on it. The leaks from 2021. The leaks were from 2021. So Bonanza is very likely not the only game they're working on. As far as EPD goes, there are 10 or so EPD groups. The Odyssey team is EPD 8. So they're like the Expedition 60, right. Of Nintendo. And that is it for kind of funny Dot com. You're wrong, Chad.
Andy Cortez
Brush. Brush can be known as a foliage. Why are people acting like we're crazy?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
And I know. I know we're not the only ones who think this.
Andy Cortez
What is a foliage brush?
Blessing Adioa Jr.
People in chat like to act like they're all cool. Oh, I knew that. All you guys didn't know either. You're with us. You guys are human.
Andy Cortez
You ever hear of, like, they found a dead body near the brushes over there? You know, like, oh, here we go.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Yeah, Kevin. Kevin looked up brush plants.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Now type in sticker bush. See what comes up, because I really want to know what that is.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Where'd they get that word from? Is it because the bushes are sticky?
Andy Cortez
Well, it's. Got it. No, no, The. The spikies. The spikes are stickers.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
Okay.
Andy Cortez
Well, yeah, Pointy edges are our stickers.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
It brings up the DK level stuff. Well, I guess on the second row you have. What is that?
Andy Cortez
So where. Where I grew up, there's a lot of these things called. We call them espinas, but they're also called stickers. And sometimes you play outside as a kid, you get tackle. Tackle football, and you will land in. You know, there'd be, like, these little spiky things that would get stuck in your shoelaces, or they would stick in.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
You, and you'd be like, I got.
Andy Cortez
Spinas all over me. Dude. So like I knew of those as stickers growing up.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
That makes sense.
Andy Cortez
There's a little spikes.
Blessing Adioa Jr.
