Kinda funny today in the nerdy news, you need to know about GTA 6 won't have a physical edition. Xbox is going to be more consistent with PS5 releases and Walmart is leaking Nintendo games. We'll have all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily. What's up everybody? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games daily for Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Three short months until my birthday. I hope you're all thinking about what you're gonna get me. Hope you're all the big four three.
Mike
The man that has it all. Yeah, what does he need?
Greg Miller
What do I need? You know, I mean, you know, something I kicked around. Master Hype, Snow Bike Mike, Greg Miller. I've thought about it before of asking the audience and this is because this gets. This gets. Don't do this, okay? Because this is where percolating everybody either for a sweatshirt or a T shirt to their favorite local pizzerie, a burger restaurant, it have to be on black, you know, or sweatshirts. Don't wear any color. T shirts would have to be black. But I. I feel like that would be fun of just wearing random. But then I run into the thing turns out this pizza place run by Nazis and I didn't know. You know what I mean? I gotta, I gotta.
Mike
I didn't know.
Greg Miller
I gotta dig through the local newspaper every time to find out what the owner said about whatever. You know what I mean? That's the problem. That's a problem for me.
Mike
But I do dig the idea.
Greg Miller
It's a cool idea, right?
Mike
I really love the idea actually. Man, you're going above percolating.
Greg Miller
I'm percolating.
Mike
Percolate on.
Greg Miller
Maybe I do the sweatshirt.
Mike
I do. Maybe you do this. You have them send them all in. Me and Roger will go through the boxes, bet them. Then we put them in a new box, we give them to you.
Greg Miller
Yeah, that would solve a problem. My crack team of investigators, Mike and Roger digging through the box. Google it. We're trying to figure out what's going on. Yeah, I feel like I open myself up. Mike, how was your Monday?
Mike
Great. My Monday was great. A lot of good energy, a lot of excitement. We got to Talk Resident Evil 9 yesterday, you and I, we got to talk with the sque. The screen scream queen, the queen of Screams easier to say that way. Meline Stanley about more horror games, which.
Greg Miller
Was a ton of fun.
Mike
Me, Andy, Bless playing more High Guard. It was a good start to the week. And then you opening up kind of funny games daily with some energy. Even better.
Greg Miller
That's what I do over here each and every day. Talk to me about High Guard. I want to know after the closing bell.
Mike
All right.
Greg Miller
The credits rolled on that stream. Lincoln park played. Everyone walked off to their houses.
Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Did you play more High Guard? Did you go find something else to play?
Mike
I played more High Guard last night.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Mike
I called up the hang time boys. Sean Boland, my main man, Grayson.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
To say, hey, I need some energy. I need some big chirp.
Greg Miller
Were they already streaming it?
Mike
Yeah, they played it all day just like we did and they played more with me and we absolutely brought the energy. It was a lot of fun. Here's the thing.
Greg Miller
How many hours into High Guard are you then right now?
Mike
You think, you know, I. I'm probably like six to seven window right now. Six to seven on day one. And so I'm in. Here's the catch. Greg. Let me.
Greg Miller
There's a catch, everybody. Don't worry about it. Give them the one. There's a catch.
Mike
In the shooter market, we are always asking for unique and different ideas because we are bored of the generic battle royales. We are bored of the extraction shooters. Mind you, our creators, you did a great job. We love these games and we want more of them, but we also want different games. We want you to bring something unique to this table that makes you say, oh, wow, that's fun. Fun. That's different. Right? And the catch is, is when you get these, sometimes they're not that good or sometimes they're really good. High Guard is a really good game. It plays well, it looks good. It's a fun idea. It's a cool mashup of different genres together.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
The catch is, is my worry that I'm already experiencing is is there are some really good players out there and they're getting sweaty.
Greg Miller
Greg.
Mike
And the catch is, is when there's just two teams colliding in this style of game, they. There's no getting away from them. There's no alternate way of winning the game. It is you going to collide with them. And if you get steamrolled, it is really demoralizing. It really sucks. And so I'm hoping that the game has a great launch and everybody enjoys it and has some fun. And like two weeks from now, I can still jump in without going, oh snap, there's you know, Alex 1, 2, 3, 4 and his squad who are just steamrolling me every single time.
Greg Miller
Yeah, yeah.
Mike
So I'm, I'm a little apprehensive about where we'll go. We're with the matchmaking and gameplay skill level, but as of right now, I enjoy that we're getting something different.
Greg Miller
I didn't make the Roper report because you know, gamers are mad about something stupid. Like who would even fucking care about it, right? Because IGN had high card launches to big Steam concurrence, but it's also getting destroyed by user reviews. I don't care about the user reviews. I care about this comment from WYP. That's Wesley Yen Pool at IGN. Highguard hit a peak of 97,249 concurrent users on Steam. Do you think they can maintain that? Does that go up throughout the week? Do we have a big weekend? Or is this the classic, hey, the game launches and now it trickles away.
Mike
I think this weekend we'll see one more bigger push up into the hundred thousands, maybe 150 area.
Greg Miller
Oh wow.
Mike
I think with the weekend with it free to play, you'll probably see another big wave of sponsored streams with your favorite creators over Friday, Saturday, Sunday, I think we'll see that number go up one more time.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Mike
And then we'll see it nestle into where it's going to kind of rest day to day here.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Mike
I don't expect us to have a Arc Raider situation where that number kept climbing week after week into a month later where it's like, oh, it's still breaking these numbers. I don't expect us to see that, but I do expect us to see a little bit higher than 98.
Greg Miller
Okay, well we will be watching with bated breath here on kind of Funny Games Daily because we run you through the nerdy video game news you need to know about each and every weekday. If you're watching live right now, be part of the show by super chatting with your thoughts, opinions and questions about the day's news. You can do that on YouTube.com kindafunnygames and of course, we couldn't do this without our patreon producers on patreon.com kinda funny. So thank you, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney the Psalm Twining. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. Time for some news. Eight items on the Roper Report. Baker's dozen. Thank you, Alexios. You killed it. Number one on the Roper Report no physical edition for GTA 6 say what? This is Chris Scullion at VGC News. Take two and Rockstar may hold back the release of the physical version of Grand Theft Auto VI to avoid spoilers. That's according to Polish site PPE Pl, whose insider Grax Dari previously correctly leaked information on the release date of Oblivion Remastered physical copies, the Switch 2 port of Sonic Racing, Cross Worlds and the PS5 port of Microsoft Flight Simulator. According to Graxdari, who PPE Pl says handles physical game sales in Europe, Take2 still has no plans for a physical edition of the game, at least at release. While it appears inevitable that the game will get a physical release, the report claims that it may appear on consoles digitally first, with a physical version following later. This could only be a few weeks after release or or as far back as 2027. We're hearing more and more that the physical version won't be released simultaneously with the digital version to prevent leaks, their source claims. We're getting conflicting reports. Some say the fiscal version will arrive three to four weeks after the digital release, while others say it won't happen until early 2027. More information will be available in mid February. End quote. Grand Theft Auto 6 has already been subject to numerous leaks in recent years. In September 2022, the games industry most high profile data leak saw over an hour of GTA 6 development footage published online, giving players their first look at the sequel to one of the best selling games of all time. Then in December 2023, the game's first trailer was leaked a day early by anonymous X user, albeit a low res and heavily watermarked version. Before that, back in 2021, over an hour of Grand Theft the Trilogy, the definitive edition footage leaked online ahead of the game's release. With this in mind, Rockstar and Take two will be keen to avoid further leaks and spoilers for Grand Theft Auto 6 before the game officially is out. Given that there have been numerous instances of players acquiring physical copies of games early, often through retailers who receive shipments before release and streaming them online, this could justify the claim that Take 2 may be delaying physical release of GTA 6 to avoid spoilers. Grand Theft Auto 6's current release date is November 19, 2026, following two high profile delays. The game was originally planned to release in fall 2025, but then was pushed back to May 26, 2026 before Rockstar then announced the new November date. Snow Bicycle Michael, what do you think?
Mike
That's crazy.
Greg Miller
You think this is true?
Mike
That's wild I mean, here's the catch, Greg, as I'm an all digital player now and it does not matter to me whatsoever. So, like, I don't care about this. But on the real, this is pretty wild, right? You look at the track record, they're clearly trying to avoid these spoilers, all of these early access that they don't want to happen. And so it makes a ton of sense. When you hear it out on paper, it's like, man, there's a lot of leaks going on. There's a lot of people getting your game early and you don't want that. I totally get it. But on the business side of things, how impactful will this be? Or will this be the moments where the physical players say, well, I got to make.
Greg Miller
I got to make the jump. I got to make the jump, man, it is a crazy fucking world to read this and be like, it sounds so outlandish, the headline. And then you read it and you're like, fuck, I could see it. Here's my trepidation stems from, of course, something a lot of people don't pay attention to around here. I kind of have a reputation for being finger on the pulse. Oh, the stock market, all right, Everyone wants that stock to go through the fucking roof based on Grand Theft Auto, right? And so you really get into. Is take two so bullish that they think even removing physical sales, they can come out and say, this is the biggest entertainment launch of all time. That is what they want. That is what they are chasing. They're trying to beat their own records and all these things. Like, I'm sure for the shareholders and the stock price, they want to be able to say, we crushed GTA 5, day one. This was the movies, TV, add them all up. Nothing's ever done what we just did in 24 hours. And I of course love digital, believe in digital. I'm all about digital. But I still worry that they have so many people they think would buy the box copy. Now, of course, in the grand scheme of things, the circana numbers, end of the year, you can release this two months later. I guess end of the year would be actually fiscal year end it, put it out four months later, still have it in the fiscal year, still get the juice out of it. But I do wonder what the shakeup is. I also wonder how big GTA is going to be something you and I never think about because we do digital all the time and we love it. So many people are, oh, my God, I live in the middle of nowhere. My Internet sucks. This is 200 gigabytes or whatever the hell it is. Like it takes forever to download. For them there's that wrinkle to it. But for me it's way more not worrying about the customer, it's worrying about the shareholder.
Mike
I mean, that's the correct way of looking at this, right? That will determine what they will do is they will have the big conversation of, hey, we're trying to avoid leaks. We know that they break the street date out at GameStop or local game stores and they're getting ahead of this. We, we want to avoid that. And then someone in the room's like, but just like you said, we want to go for the largest entertainment launch ever.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
Will this happen? Can they still achieve that if they go all digital?
Greg Miller
I think they can to what you just said is 100% true. I think even the most stubborn, stalwart, stubborn physical media person would be like, ah, but it's GTA and I've waited fucking forever and I will do this and I will still buy the physical additional. That's the thing. You're going to double dip then on top of it, right? Get people who want, I mean you look at fucking this moron Tim Gettys, right? Beautiful daughter, beautiful wife. But of course just a stupid moron who gets codes and still buys physical games because he wants all stupid little Nintendo game shows lined up, you know what I mean, so his daughter can walk in in 15 years ago. What's wrong with you, dad? Why did you do this? Why did you listen to Greg? He's won so many game showdown championships.
Mike
Greg, you would know best because you've been in the industry for so long. We know that games go gold now. It's kind of a different world with all with digital. But usually go going gold means we, we are ready to start putting this on disk, start the printer up. How long until that happens? When do we hear the bell to know? I mean you're going to know that GTA is being printed out. People are going to know the discs are being made, the boxes are getting cooked and people are putting them in boxes. Like you're going to know ahead of time. When do you think we hear that?
Greg Miller
I mean, what gold is usually a month, if not a month and a half before launch. So this we would know if this is actually going to happen, right? Somewhere in October, right?
Mike
September. October window.
Greg Miller
Yeah, yeah. But again, like it's interesting because again, Take two and Rockstar are so batshit crazy and they can do whatever the fuck they want because they have GTA that you go here and it's like, yeah, you're not. You don't want it from the factory floor. Here is the first box copy of gta. Here's what the disc looks like. They don't want any of that shit getting out that way. Right. They don't want the map that you hope they put in it. But I'm thinking of a, a bygone era when you have your. Yeah, you're not getting that map anymore. Here's what I think. The really interesting thing about this. Let's take this as true. Polish guy got it right.
Mike
Okay.
Greg Miller
Awesome. This is. There are no physical additions because they're that worried about leaks. You know what that means? No reviews. I think if you, I think if if take two is this serious to possibly hurt their own stock price. I I, at best it's 1012. Whatever trusted IGN get gets one. Of course. Kind of funny gets one. We would. But I don't think you have the I I if they're that serious. I don't think there's reviews. I don't think there's reviews because again inevitably now Rockstar again beat their own drummer. They've been around forever. I know the PR team there for years, so I know they know who to work with. But even still like or if they're.
Mike
This, come to us serious.
Greg Miller
If they're this. And if, if, if that's not bad.
Mike
You want to review this, you got to come to us. We'll send you phone.
Greg Miller
Put it in the lead pouch and.
Mike
You'Re going to play it for a week here inside the office and then you can leave. You will not download anything. You won't capture anything. We'll give you the B roll.
Greg Miller
Yeah. Yeah.
Mike
Then you go. That's how they would do that. If it's that crazy.
Greg Miller
But here's the other flip to it. Kebabs in the super chat says this implies GTA 6 story must this implies GTA 6's story must be very good. And I think we could read into that.
Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Of I, I, I assume that's what I expect. I don't even think it means that much is they just don't want they want to control this message so fucking hardcore. And if you want to control the message that tightly, there's that. But even then like in this day and age, you know what I mean? GTA 6 bigger than anything. Bigger than anything. I'd always said, like what I always wanted for the next GTA drop would in like this is. So let's Erase your mind. Nothing's happened for GTA 6. I wanted a commercial that was 30 seconds of a black screen and then you hear like gunfire calling for a person. This, that, the other. I'm doing what? And it's just the logo fading in and then it's boom and it's a date. Because I think GTA is that big that you could just, you could have the biggest entertainment launch of all time and show nothing. Just have it. If GTA is coming out on November, whatever, you know, nothing but that you.
Mike
Could buy it 100%. I mean, we all, we all know that they could do that, right? They. They're not going to do that because Miami is a fun thing to showcase. They did a great job with the first trailer. It was captivating. It was electric. We all wanted more of it. So, like, yeah, they could do a thousand things here and still be just fine. They can release this on digital only and I promise you it's still going to be as massive as it ever would. And you're so right. You would double dip. A lot of people would come back and buy this again. Is that a business strategy? We're just not thinking. Maybe they get a little greedy.
Greg Miller
Maybe, maybe there, maybe, maybe take two is now getting a little greedy. Maybe this NBA 2K drops $300 as soon as it comes out. It's back to the kebab's point of this implies the story must be very good. It also implies. It could imply that, yes, it could imply the story is bad. It could imply the honest to God's truth, which there's no way and I hope I'm fucking wrong and eat my words. There's no way this game can live up to the hype. It has gestated for so long. GTA has only gotten bigger since the release of GTA 5. And so here you are where you're rock star and you know you're going to set all these records and do all these things. Let's go back to the same. I don't think getting information, getting a leak out there early doesn't help somebody playing on tuition be like, oh, it kind of sucks. Well, look at this glitch. I found you. Whatever. I also then were. I don't think reviews help or hinder, really. I. They could hinder. I think reviews can only hinder because critics are going to come in and criticize and are going to come in and have a critical eye and be like this, that I don't like, blah, blah. So, like, what's the fucking point when you don't need that, you don't. They don't need the word of mouth for gta. Instead, release it to everybody. So that when I say, oh, man, I really don't like GTA story, 30,000, 30 people in the chat can be like, I fucking love it, you idiot. Like, I'm playing. I'm farther than you, and you don't even know how it goes.
Mike
Yeah, that's the crazy part about this, and that's a whole nother games cast type conversation. Because GTA is too big to fail, it doesn't matter what happens here. This game could come out and the biggest criticism could be, it's just like GTA 5. I. I don't see a big difference. Yeah, it doesn't matter. We're all buying this game. We're all going to be there. It doesn't matter what happens here. If the review. The only thing that could happen is all of a sudden it's Mind's Eye. And, like, that would be a massive step back. Somehow we don't know they made something real bad. There's no way that it's too big to fail, that whatever happens here, even if it's just the same as GTA 5, we're all going to go, good enough. We're here. It's. It's happening.
Greg Miller
Kobe writes down a super chat and says, what did Rockstar do when it came to reviews for red Dead Redemption 2? Were they super picky with. Who gets that interesting question that I don't have reference for? We got it. Jared Petty got it. Like, and I mean, Jared was doing his Red Dead podcast, right? So it was like, I'm throwing us out there. Not as. I mean, we're. What? We're not IGN as much as some people think we are. Which is great. I love that. Keep making people think about. But it's like, I don't feel like they were picky, but I also can't go down the line of, like, some person on Twitch who was complaining they didn't get it or some other site that did. I don't know who didn't get Red Dead. I know we got it, so I know it was out there. And so I. But I also think that, like, as excited as we all were for Red Dead 2, as excited as the world was, it's not comparable to how excited people are for GTA 6.
Mike
Let's get real, though, okay? Let's get really.
Greg Miller
I'm getting real.
Mike
This is going to get leaked no matter what. Like, let's get Real, real. You can do whatever you want. You've already had a track record showing that people are leaking your shit.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
We have seen so many games go out early, we've seen games get leaked. There is no way GTA 6, the biggest entity on planet Earth right now, coming in November.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
Is not getting leaked ahead of time in some way, shape or form. Some kid plays it in the office, uploads it, somebody uploads the script. So we are going to get to that point where this is going to happen.
Greg Miller
Was it GTA or was it another one where a kid at home like, filmed or did something with their dad's bird? I can't remember which game that was, if that was GTA or if it was another one. Like, that's where we're at, right? Of like, and if I'm Rockstar and if I'm Take two, that's what you're just trying to future proof against is being like, let's get, let's bring this down all the way to, like, nobody being able to do anything right. Like, let's just fucking lock this in and keep it all internal. And again, like, super chat comes from Christopher who says, worried about story leaks. Gamers just want the game. And we'll be so busy playing the game, they won't care if there's story leaks on the Internet. You're wrong. Lots of people will care. Because I've lived through so many story leaks, it won't affect sales. But again, what it will affect is Rockstar Slash Take two, not controlling the message. They want clearly to control the message all the way till it gets in your hands. And so I feel that's the bigger thing here of what they're worried about leaking. It's like, yeah, I don't. I hope I'm wrong and I hope the story is amazing and it's fucking Goodfellas of video games or whatever. You know what I mean? Like, I love a GTA story, but, like, I'm not worried about the end. It turns out they, you know, they turn on each other and has to flip to the DA or I don't know if I. You know what I mean? But it's like they just don't want that out there. They want there to be just this air of mystery of the greatest game of all time is coming. This game we've worked on for two console generations is coming.
Mike
It's so exciting. And the idea that they could go all digital with it for launch is a wild thought here.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
Well, they at least have A better collector's edition than last time.
Greg Miller
That was gta.
Mike
It was a money lock bag and a hat. Oh, I do remember that. I hated it. Yeah, give me something better.
Greg Miller
Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right. They will work on it. They will work on that. Closes out in super chat C. Barry says Mike's Mike brings up a good point. Wouldn't Rockstar have to start making plans in order cases for cover art printing around now? Well, yeah, but that doesn't get shouted out.
Mike
Debbie. Cover art they've already probably made inside the house, right? Cover art is already probably locked and loaded. They've stuck with the same format since GTA 3. It's not like they're changing it up that much. And yeah, eventually they're going to call up some warehouse and you're going to know that the printers are on and it's going down. There's no way that if they turn on and flip on all the lights for the printers that like that leak doesn't come out of like, oh yeah, we're printing this. It's going to happen.
Greg Miller
Yeah, we will. Wait and see everybody. Grand Theft Auto 6 is apparently not that far away. Just about 10 months, a little less than that. Maybe we'll find out. But you know what isn't far either? Now number two on the Rope Report Xbox says it wants to be, quote, more consistent with its PS5 release timing in the Future this is Andy Robinson again at VGC News. Xbox Studios boss has said Microsoft is going to try and be, quote, more consistent with its PlayStation 5 release strategy going forward in its continued push towards becoming a multi platform business. Xbox released six titles for PlayStation 5 in 2025, with more planned for this year. However, it's been somewhat inconsistent with its release strategy so far, with some games arriving later on PS5 like Indiana Jones and Avowed, while others release on day one like Gears of War Reloaded and the Outer Worlds 2. The inconsistency is set to continue in 2026, with last week's Xbox developer Direct confirming Halo as a day one release on PS5, whereas Forza Horizon 6 is arriving later on PS5. Speaking to GamesRadar, Xbox Game Studio boss Craig Duncan suggested that the realities of development were the reason for the later release of Forz on PS5. Quote, there's always development realities about when these projects start, how big a team is, and what plans we have at the start of development. Like you said, when a strategy changes, maybe you've got a plan that exists with a game and maybe you can adopt that, maybe you can't. So that's why, and to be clear, this is totally fair feedback. Sometimes we are inconsistent. You see some games in one place, some games in multiple places. Just know that we're going to work on that and we're going to try to be more consistent with what we do, end quote. He continued, I shouldn't have ended the quote. But you know, for our game makers, if you're on the Fable team, you just want to make as many people who love Fable. You just want as many people who love Fable to appreciate the great work that the team's doing. That's always our goal. It's rarely more complicated than that. It's like, how can we get this game to as many players as we can? Asked about the ideal scenario for its PS5 release timing going forward, Duncan stopped short of confirming its Xbox's intention to release all games on day one, like it does for PC. Quote, my number one job is to help teams be successful. If I think about my role, some of that is optionality about what we do and what we approach. You used the word port before and not to sort of pick you up on that word specifically. God, you know, when people are just casually talking, trying to read a quote is so tough.
Mike
You do so well at it.
Greg Miller
Thank you. I tried years of fucking looking like a moron. But whenever our games show up, we want them to show up and be the best they can be for the platform. So we want to take advantage of whatever features and nuances that platform has. Michael. So basically he's saying, when we started Forza, we didn't know we were gonna make put games on PlayStation. When we started Fable, we were like, oh, or Fable's been just standing so long. Super simple to put Fable on everything.
Mike
That is exactly right. Greg. There are games that were in development that weren't planned yet for PlayStation when we started this strategy, they say, and now we're adjusting to that. Right. And so it's totally cool to hear the background knowledge of this. I mean, the goal is probably day one on PlayStation to have the most sales possible. We are seeing right now the later staggered release on the PlayStation Works, giving these games new life, bringing an audience back that might have put it down after the three, six months honeymoon period, whatever it may be, to get a new audience and a little more love back on your Xbox side of things alongside PlayStation. But yeah, I think it all comes down to, hey, when we had the strategy, some games were in development, they weren't ready for this. We have to adjust that now probably from this point forward, it is inside of Xbox and Microsoft. Day one, let's aim for PlayStation. The jig is up.
Greg Miller
This is going everywhere. So buy PlayStation 5 and put it in there. So you're all set. Are you okay with that decision? You know, I mean, we can call Paris up. He can cry, he can moan about it.
Mike
I am 100% okay with that position. I think he says it so well of like, if you're on the Fable team, you want as many people who love Fable to be able to play your game and play Fable. We talk about this as gamers. There's been a lot of tribalism, there's been a lot of team green, team blue. I don't want you on this side. I don't want you to play my games or not. Nana Boo Boo, you can't play these games. But in reality, whoever you talk to, that's just a game in your life, just want you to play awesome games that they love, that maybe you love. And that is our goal here, you know? And does that work for the business strategy thing? That doesn't matter to me. I'm a gamer. I just want to play the games.
Greg Miller
There it is. Fable.
Mike
Fable.
Greg Miller
God, I can't wait. Before I switch over, Norm Chacho super chats and says, just give us Master chief collection on PS5, you cowards.
Mike
I mean, they're going to hit you with Halo Combat.
Greg Miller
No, Campaign Evolved.
Mike
Campaign Evolved, and then Halo 2. Campaign evolved. They're probably going to give you the remasters of all these games and sell them at a price point instead of just giving you Master Chief Collection, which would be great. I would love a player base on that to give some more love to that. But yeah, I think they're just going to hit you with the one through three remastered in Unreal Engine 5 as we give you Halo 7 and onward, which is great. I like that. I'm fine with that.
Greg Miller
Speaking of Xbox 3, Fable developer Playground crafted each of its 1,000 fully voiced NPCs by hand. This is Simon Carty at IGN. Fable, the upcoming open world fantasy RPG from Playground Games, has 1,000 fully voiced NPCs. And if you do things right, you can marry every single one of them. The long awaited fairy tale follow up to Lionhead's original Xbox trilogy was showcased at the January 2026 Xbox Developer Direct and finally gave us a good look at its gameplay. But there's more to learn yet, as IGN spoke to the founder of Playground Games, the studio crafting the reboot. When speaking about the characters that inhabit the world of this new version of Fable, Playground chief Ralph Fulton told us they are handcrafted and there are a lot of things about the way we have built the living population, which I think you could be forgiven for saying is just nuts. I think maybe, I think maybe once thought we could procedurally generate them. But we abandoned that idea quite a long time ago because we wanted to craft every One of these NPCs, from their name to their appearance, to their personality traits, to that normal worldview, I'm sorry, moral worldview that I talked about, to where they work and where they live and what their family unit is. Because it's important to the player that they can get to know the unique crafted NPCs. There's 1,000 of them in the game, fulton continued. You can go and speak to every single one of them in fully voiced conversations. You could marry. It'll be a bit of work, but you could marry them all. You could have kids with them, you can hire them, you can fire them. They are just great fun. And also they act as this sort of Greek chorus, if you like. Greece chorus, if you like, reflecting your choices and your morality back at you. So as you walk around, that's classic fable, isn't it? People cat calling you in the streets, telling you what they think of you. It's a brilliant thing in our. In our game as well, but it's a great way of tracking how popular your decisions have been, your choices have been. It doesn't sound like it'll be easy to just pop the question to anyone you see wandering around Albion. Then with the way you've chosen to role play as you go, your heroes dictates who may react positively to an offer of engagement. What if you're playing as a goody two shoes night of the realm, but then a local necromancer catches your eye and captures your heart Shortly thereafter? Will you be tempted to delve into the dark arts in the name of love? Search deep within yourself. Only you have the answer. Game of the fucking year. If they nail this game of the fucking year, I will lose my goddamn mind.
Mike
They're saying all the right things. If you listen to that. If you read that, you probably immediately smiled because it sounds awesome and amazing, as you like to say. That is nuts. What do you mean? You just didn't ralph.
Greg Miller
You nailed it.
Mike
That's nuts. Why are we handcrafting all these? That's epic. Okay, let's do it. I will be very excited to see it live and in person. Yeah, playing it right. To see all the characters, them being their own unique selves. It'll be fun to see how cool that is, how different they are and what really I can get into what kind of shenanigans they are. Promising a lot. And they're They're. They're saying a lot, and I'm excited to see it in action.
Greg Miller
I. I mean, I think there's a chance we talk about this a little bit in the Gamescast today when we talk about our new Witcher game. But, like, what the. I can't. They. It's going to rip my heart out of my chest when this gets delayed. Oh. When this is inevitably delayed till 2027. I'm going to cry, but I can't. I mean, what they've shown and what they're saying. They're saying all the right things.
Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
If we can have this thing, Mike, where it's going to be like, we coming together on the review or the spoiler cast or whatever, and it's just like, oh, there was a shop girl that my character fell in love with. And like, we did this whole. And we just had a life. And you. You're like, I didn't do anything. And then this happened over here. I lived over there and I did that.
Mike
It's getting ready for that. It's. It has the building blocks for that.
Greg Miller
That's.
Mike
I'm gonna try to marry every single person in this game.
Greg Miller
I like. That's a. That's a stream, right?
Mike
I want to break this game. I want to see what kind.
Greg Miller
What level of it was. Roger's not here, right? What level of interest from the kind of funny community do we need to get to? Let me do a marathon stream of this to just give me fucking fable. Send Jen and Ben somewhere and just let me play this as long as the audience has to play, because I want to let this fucking shit rip. Why is Cole back there? Cole.
Mike
Let that dog live. That dog's live.
Greg Miller
Cole Beans, come here. What are you doing? Come here. We got a dog just staring back at me. No, he's not. He's. He's sniffing around the kegerator. Come here. What are you doing, buddy? Come on, buddy. He's coming. He's a good dog. He's a good dog.
Mike
He's.
Greg Miller
He's becoming a good studio dog. You know what I mean?
Mike
This was a big studio.
Greg Miller
This was a big building thing of like, all right, cool. We got to get him ready and not scared of the studio anymore. And today was the first day where there is no bag here.
Mike
No bag.
Greg Miller
He doesn't have to be locked up his beds here. Get in your bed.
Mike
Come on. He's a good guard dog, and he.
Greg Miller
Gets in his bed, folks. Yeah, that's a good studio dog. That's what we're looking for out here.
Mike
Pets in this game. He's going, I think they said. I think McCaffrey said, no dog.
Greg Miller
Yeah, that's right. No dog. Yeah. I was gonna say, I. I of course, follow this, the subreddit for Fable, which of course is the bad idea because all it is is people mad. I'm like, how could you be mad? Well, we don't get horns. I'm like, are you? Who cares?
Mike
I do want a horn, though. No, I really want a horn. I am uptight that I don't get a horn. That was always the exciting part, was seeing yourself become more and more evil morality, though. Well, you're always with a halo. You're a goody two shoes. That's the case. I wanted the horn.
Greg Miller
We'll see. Let's move on to story number four. Oh, hold on a second. I like. I want it to. Christian says in a super chat, future tots. Topic of the show, of course. Should developers give gamers the ability to romance dozens of characters? Does that not give them unrealistic expectations of relationships? All right, Christian, you had me in the first half. I'm like, oh, that's an interesting conversation. And then the second half, if you are a fucking basement dweller gamer dork who thinks romancing someone in real life is just picking the right goddamn dialogue option.
Mike
Modeling my romance in real life off of this video game.
Greg Miller
Fucking said all the right things. She still won't fuck me. What the fuck? Again, what I like about how they're talking about in Fable is like, let's make romance. And this is me inferring into what they're talking about. Let's make romance a system. Romance isn't a goal. It isn't a thing. It isn't like, oh, Starfield. It is not organic that I fell in love with Andrea Andreja and made her marry me. You know what I mean? Like, I crafted my own fucking delusional narrative to make that make sense. But, like, for this to be a system, as in the same way leveling up is or this, you know, getting upgrading your magic is like. That makes more sense to me of like, cool, yeah, you, it's disposable. You can have a million wives. You can have no wives. You know, all the wives.
Mike
It's something that we've all been asking for. It's that level and depth that we've always wanted of, like this community focus that the Fable team is talking about. Gets you excited because there is so many games that you've played where you walk into a town and you go, man, I want to get to know this community more. I want to go in depth on this. I want to stay here and live here longer because I've done so much. It's like, how can I do that? And it looks like this team is trying to solve that and figure that out, which is exciting.
Greg Miller
Number four on the Rope Report Ubisoft Rips an Actor's Heart out this is Tom Phillips at ign. Actress Iman Ayaz has said she lost three years of work in a quote unquote life changing role just days after Ubisoft canceled its long awaited Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake. So hi, my name is Iman, I'm an actor and last week I experienced the most devastating moment of my career, she says in a YouTube video posted online. I linked it up there, I started watching it. I love seeing YouTube creators that are also doing the voice acting, acting business and stuff. Very, very cool. I'm still in her NDA so I'm going to try to give my do my best to speak as vaguely as possible about the details and I hope you understand. At no point does Iman specifically say the game she worked on was Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake, but the actress has also retweeted comments from those who have linked her to the role of Farrah in the game, seemingly making the connection clear. QUOTE 3 years ago I booked a life changing role on a life changing project. It was a rigorous audition process including a self tape audition, an in person callback and a chemistry read that I had to fly out of the city for when I got the role. I remember crying my eyes out. I spent the last three years getting to know the team which has become like a family to me. I've watched it grow through countless stages of development and I've waited and waited for it to finally be released so I could talk about it. And this week I found out through the Internet that the project was canceled. She said she was first contacted by her brother who had seen the news of the game's cancellation via online articles. Ubisoft confirmed it had canned its Prince of Persia the Sands of Time remake last week as part of a wider reorganization that featured layoffs at three development studios, the closure of two more and the shutdown of five other projects. Quote I was in total shock, she continued. Just two months ago I filmed marketing for the project. Everything had been running smoothly and that was the last I had heard. We were all looking forward to it being released this year, so it felt like an emotional whiplash to suddenly find out in such a random way. End quote. Here's where obviously this all fucking sucks.
Mike
Super sucks.
Greg Miller
All of us, from an idiot talking into a microphone on his YouTube channel to a garbage man to his CEO can understand, oh, this is, this is heartbreaking. This is something I didn't think about when you, when this project gets canceled, all right, stick with me. Iman said she turned down other job opportunities during the process and worked on on the job while recovering from an injury as she has been passionate about not missing out. A Canadian citizen, Iman said she had planned to apply for a US work visa based on having the game on her cv, something she can no longer do as she is unable to officially acknowledge her work on it. And as someone with Pakistani heritage, Iman said the cancellation had been yet another setback. After working, quote, twice as hard as non marginalized actors to find space in the industry. It's an upward battle and it's going to continue to be that way. It's like you think you had your foot on the ledge and it's crumbled and you have to start again and it's just as steep, end quote. I know video game development very, from an outsider's perspective and so I've always understood the, oh, it says you worked at this studio and it closed down or whatever and maybe of concept art, maybe you can talk in that interview about what you've been doing, blah, blah, blah. I never thought about it from, hey, I'm an actor and I was trying to do this, get my resume to prove this, to get in, to get the work like that setback right. Of like what this meant, I think of what this would have meant for her as an actress trying to launch her career, go further, what this would have been three years of work, you turn down all these other options because of it. That's an interesting angle that I just wouldn't have thought when I said, oh yeah, this sucks.
Mike
Yeah, no, this is the heartbreaking one, Greg. This is a young voice actor, young actor as well. And this is a huge piece in the resume for sure to now miss out on that you have to restart after three years of hard work there, miss out on the other opportunities that you had. Everything probably hinged on that, right? Of like this is going to be the starting point here that I'm going to lift off on and to have that all ripped away is unfortunate. That's one of those, you hear this story, you're like, man, there's nothing on the development side that can help this poor girl, right? There's no one out there that's like, hey, we recorded voice lines with her. If you need to know, we'll share them or something with you. But yeah, this is something we'll never on the public side ever get to see or hear.
Greg Miller
Yeah, it's 11 minute video. Her YouTube channel is just her name, Iman Yaz and I'm probably mispronouncing the last name. I apologize. But she said her first name in the thing so I got it. But E M a N a Y a Z go follow right now 900 subscribers on YouTube. Let's get that to a thousand. All right everybody, 100 of you go over there and subscribe to that YouTube channel right now. I left a comment in there. Go hard it and say kind of funny. Sent you. For now we'll move on to number five. Valve's Getting sued. We read the Reuters report. Video game developer and distributor Valve must face a 656 million pound aka about $898 million lawsuit in Britain which alleges it charged publishers excessive commissions for its Steam online store after a tribunal, which is fucking cool, ruled on Monday the case could continue. Valve was sued in 2024 on behalf of up to 14 million people in the United Kingdom who brought who bought games for additional content through Steam or other platforms since 2018. Lawyers representing children's Welfare advocate Vicky Shotbolt, who is bringing the case, alleged Valve prevents publishers from selling products more cheaply or earlier arrival on rival platforms of Steam by imposing conditions on them. They say Valve requires users to buy all additional content through Steam if they've bought the game through the platform, effectively, quote, unquote locking in users to make purchases on its platform. This allows Valve to charge, quote unquote unfair and excessive commissions of up to 30%, Shotbolt's lawyer said. In a hearing in October, Valve argued the case should not be certified to proceed towards a trial, an early step in the proceedings. But London's Competition Appeal Tribunal ruled the case could not continue. I hope they wear wigs. Valve did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The lawsuit is the latest mass case to get the go ahead in Britain, including separate cases against Apple over its App Store and Google over its Play Store, both of which center on commissions of up to 30%. Valve is separately facing a consumer action brought by gamers in the United States, which was filed in Seattle in August 2024. Okay, there you go. Will it change anything? I don't know. But I do know over there across the Pond. That's what got Apple to stop using that stupid lightning cable.
Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
So, okay, then. You know what I mean?
Mike
Could be.
Greg Miller
Go get them.
Mike
The tribunal could make things move for us.
Greg Miller
They're gonna say, you know what?
Mike
Change it up.
Greg Miller
The tribunal's been out. Yeah. What did they say? I forget what they say.
Mike
The tribe has spoken. Ah, yeah, I was spoken. And then he. Yeah, Yeah. I don't know what he does, but it's like.
Greg Miller
It's so fucked up that there's been that many seasons of Survivor and I can only remember Joe Schmo, ashes, you're dead to us. And they throw the plate. They had a plate with their face on it. They throw away Joe Schmo show. Good show, everybody. Okay. Go get them. You know what I mean? Like, they make. It's an interesting thing I've never thought of. Of like, yeah, you buy the game on Steam and I can't buy my DLC through the person directly from their website. I can't buy it off Epic game, which, you know, which I go, makes sense. But I'm like, well, I guess. Does it? I don't know.
Mike
Yeah. Does it? I don't. I don't know, Greg.
Greg Miller
I never thought about it.
Mike
So used to being like, when I buy it on a certain. Certain ecosystem.
Greg Miller
That's right.
Mike
That's where I'm at. That's where I'll buy the dlc. I guess on the flip side, right, if I'm a developer, publisher, and I want to maybe charge cheaper, I want it to be less money on whatever platform, it seems like, no, no, no, we still want a big cut of this. And they're dictating to me, the people who made it. What has to happen here then? Yeah, I'm probably coming out. I'm like, yo, it's pretty messed up.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
I'm trying to sell this out on whatever PC platform and everybody else is cool with it, but you're not. You're holding me back.
Greg Miller
Yeah, well, wait and see again. They shake it up all the time over there. So go get them, you know, in the. On the App store, in the Google stores. Go get them. But then they come for PlayStation, they come for Xbox. Who knows?
Mike
I'm for everybody.
Greg Miller
They come for everybody. Come for us. Why aren't we giving our. You know what I mean? I got the Patreon benefits over. I don't get the YouTube benefits. We're 11 people. I can't stop it. England. And then I got to bring Lucy into the fray, you know what I mean? She's got to go over there, talk to them. Ish.
Mike
Lucy's got to go to the tribunal.
Greg Miller
She'll defend us. Number six Walmart looks to have leaked two Nintendo Switch Online GameCube classics this is Tom Phillips at IGN. Walmart is advertising Nintendo Switch Online with a poster that includes several GameCube classics yet to be made available via the service. An image now visible on Walmart.com shows a library of Nintendo Switch Online plus expansion pack titles, including the brilliant Pikmin 2 and Metroid Prime 2 Echoes, neither of which are currently playable on Switch 2. Metroid Prime 2 is of particular interest to fans, as some had speculated its release was deliberately being held back so Nintendo could sell a full remake of the game. Instead, the company launched a full Metroid Prime 1 remake back in 2023, but has since made no comment about continuing to relaunch the rest of the classic trilogy. Now, with Metroid Prime 2 echoes seemingly being added to the Nintendo Switch Online and expansion pass catalog, some fans have said their hopes of a remake have now dimmed. Others, meanwhile, have criticized the decision to simply re release the game's original GameCube version when its Wii RE released. I'm sorry, when it's Wii. When its Wii RE release included some notable balance changes. Throw up your wnds in the chat for weird Nintendo decisions that would make sense in par for the course with them.
Mike
Also, dear Rockstar, Walmart's definitely gonna leak your.
Greg Miller
That's why. That's why we're not doing it. We're not going to give you physical copies Walmart.
Mike
They're gonna leak your man.
Greg Miller
It's the thing of like, no matter what, with Rockstar, PSN and Xbox up all the time. And put live too.
Mike
They put live. A website's gonna go live somewhere.
Greg Miller
Something's gonna happen here. Something's gonna happen. We're going to see. Mikey, does this excite you?
Mike
I mean, the idea that I can play Pikmin 2 excites me. Oh, I've fallen in love with Pikmin. I want more Pikmin in my life. And so yeah, the idea, I mean it's always been that thing with all of our consoles, right? Of like, I want my old games to come with me now. Old games are old. I rarely go back to them. But sometimes I do want to be able to go back to them. And having the power of choice to be able to say, yeah, I'm going back and I'm going to play an old game is a big deal, right? I am struggling. Your Voice, stomach. Mike purchased some things on ebay that I didn't need.
Greg Miller
But did you buy those Blizzard boxes?
Mike
I did. I. Well, I got those already. Can you believe it? 35 years of blizzard.
Greg Miller
How much it cost you?
Mike
Oh, those are expensive. Those are hundreds. Those are hundreds. But what I bought, Greg, was an OG Xbox.
Greg Miller
But you're the fucking guy who will buy a new iPhone.
Mike
Yeah, well, it's like Verizon. They take too long. You know what I mean? Like, I don't want to go into Verizon.
Greg Miller
Go to Apple store.
Mike
Why are we not snappy? Well, that's when you gotta. Because you go to Verizon. Because they transfer everything over. They get. You know, it's like, it's in there. I'm in the car plan.
Greg Miller
I walk. I. I walk. Here's my old one. Give me the new one. I'll set it up by.
Mike
And walk out this time. I don't want to give them the old one. Is that weird? No, I actually don't want to transfer all my over that time.
Greg Miller
That's weird. You want to start fresh.
Mike
I want to start fresh. And it's like I want to hold on to all those photos in that one. So it's like, just leave that one there. I don't need that. Just give me a new one. You know what I mean?
Greg Miller
Sure. That's a little weird. I mean, like, why not upload those to the cloud and then not sync?
Mike
Well, I'm like, you have 16,000 photos now. They're all in the cloud. Right. So yeah, I got to battle that.
Greg Miller
It's not the hidden drive, though, I hope.
Mike
You know what? I haven't. With the hidden drive.
Greg Miller
You got to. With the hidden drive.
Mike
Really? Oh, yeah, the hidden folder.
Greg Miller
Yeah. Okay.
Mike
Okay, okay, okay.
Greg Miller
Greg, I got things out there my nude and my nude can't leak.
Mike
Yeah. I mean, to see some of these lineups. If you're a Nintendo fan, you're probably excited about this. Yeah, there's probably some games calling your name. I think it's been fun to jump back to the old Nintendo games for just a little bit. You're not spending a long time on them.
Greg Miller
Well, I'll tell you what. And again, we're. Maybe we will, maybe we won't. So I can give you this tidbit to tease you into the games cast. I've been looking for an epic adventure lately, right. And I've been thinking about Ocarina time again. Like, I love Ocarina so much and I haven't replayed Ocarina a long time. But then I'm like, well I gotta do tears then because I never finished tears. So it's like I should boot tears on Switch to Bubble. Anyways though, I look at this and I'm like, cool. Continue to flesh out your catalog Nintendo. As somebody with very little Nintendo, nostalgia doesn't do much for me. But here's an interesting wrinkle for you. Of course you listen to Greg Wachin every day. I know it's the first thing you do when it goes live. You saw yesterday's that Ben Miller, my four year old super into Smash Bros now, right? So he's, he's meeting the characters in a different way, right? And so he noticed, oh, who's that? And of course it was Samus. And because he's seen my Samus amiibo and he saw me play a little bit of Prime 4 or whatever. And so then I got to blow his mind when I was like, well, I'm gonna be zero suit Samus. You know that that's her. And he's like, that's her. I'm like, that's her out of the suit. Oh cool. And then today he, I was editing games daily, building it, right? Because of course blessing off on assignment. And he saw me. Can we see the. The art again from Walmart.com? this kid sees it on my screen as I'm putting it in and just getting the link for the doc to put in the let's look link or whatever. And he leans in as close as he can to this perfect in points at Metroid right there. The Nintendo Entertainment pointed it out and he's like, who's that? And I'm like, that's what Samus looked like. And I'm like. And then he knew Samus next to her and next to, next to Nes Metroid. He knew Metroid Echoes. Was that Samus? And it's like crazy that he was able to look at that blocky ass BioShock Big Daddy be like, that's Samus too. Like how the fuck you know so much about Samus all of a sudden?
Mike
Good pull. That's great. I mean there's so many box arts on this. It's amazing that he looked up at those two, you know? I know you don't want to look at Star Fox down there. Look at crazy creepy Star Fox.
Greg Miller
Crazy creepy Starfox. I love crazy Starbox doesn't love crazy creepy Star Fox.
Mike
Okay.
Greg Miller
Oh, sorry.
Mike
I mean, yeah, maybe have you ever gone back that far with some of these old games?
Greg Miller
Oh, yeah.
Mike
And does he vibe with those, or did you go, yeah, give me forza.
Greg Miller
Hit or miss? Yeah, no, it's more. He's jumping into the old Marios. He's go back that. But he sticks. He's. He got hung up on 64 for a while where he wanted to keep doing 64.
Mike
Okay.
Greg Miller
He is a wonder boy. So I'm very excited for that update that's coming because they have a bunch of good parenting stuff Patrick Kleppigo is just talking about in his Crossplay newsletter. Very excited for that.
Mike
Have you thought about showing him 1080 snowboarding, though? No change here.
Greg Miller
We love skate.
Mike
That's great.
Greg Miller
I mean, you can't be changed more. This kid can't harsh the gnar more than this. I told you about the kickflip story, right?
Mike
Kick flip?
Greg Miller
No, no, no. We went to the skate park so he could roll on a scooter, but then it was. It turned out, oh, the skate park's actually packed with real skaters. Okay. And so one of the things we're working on with Ben is he wants to ask for something or go talk to the person or whatever. And so he was. To me, one of the skaters kept dropping in. He was like, 49, I think it was. And he's like, do you think he can do a kickflip? I'm like, go ask him. And so Ben walked over and looked up and he goes, can you do a kickflip? And the guy looked down. He's like, oh, it's been a few years, but yeah. And he came down and this guy kick flipped over, and he's like. He's like, I'm 49, so 10 attempts for me is one attempt for a normal person. And he got it, like, on the seventh or eighth one, he nailed it.
Mike
That's me, Ben with.
Greg Miller
That was pretty cool.
Mike
How about a longboard for you? I know that Jen does want you on a skateboard, but I got a longboard screaming your name. Just a cruiser, just a cruise. And we can even give you one of those poles with the tennis ball. They give you the extra.
Greg Miller
That's too far.
Mike
And let's just let you cruise.
Greg Miller
But can't I just cruise? What's the. Is the longboard that much more stable than a normal board?
Mike
Well, I just want to roll.
Greg Miller
I just want to roll.
Mike
Next event. If you want to roll, then that. That's why we get to the longboard.
Greg Miller
You got your phone?
Mike
No, not on me right now.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Mike
Why? What do you want?
Greg Miller
I was going to say Text my wife. Say, hey, just like Greg roll. We've been thinking he could roll probably in a skateboard pretty well.
Mike
I'll send her a photo of the longboard. Okay, I got. I got him a.
Greg Miller
That. We'll start there. We'll start. Okay, that's good, actually. That's good. Speaking of the Virtual Console, number seven, let's watch the Virtual Boy Nintendo Classics overview trailer. This popped today, of course. Launching on February 17 are a slew of virtual console games coming to the Nintendo Switch Online. Plus Expansion Pass, they say launch lineup. There's Galactic Pinball, 3D, Tetris Teleroboxer, Virtual Boy, Wario Land, the Mansion of Innsmouth Golf, and then Red Alarm. Coming later is Mario Clash, Mario Tennis, Jack Bros. And Space Invaders. Virtual Collection. When I tell you you couldn't pay me to play this stuff, I want.
Mike
To yell out, who's playing this? And I know there's some jabroni out there playing this, but, like, honest to God, who's playing this?
Greg Miller
It's that thing where you can all make fun of me for being obsessed with Ghostbusters. You know what I mean? You can all make fun of me for my weird Superman obsessions. Yada, yada, yada. The people who are so in the Nintendo tank that they're like, hey, we're releasing another. I Forget, is it 300? What is the peripheral for cost to buy the Virtual Boy. We're releasing that. You know, a joke, One of our failed things that everybody makes fun of us for. We're releasing that so you will buy it. Nintendo Fanboy. To have on your shelf, to have on your bookshelf back there. Mike Drucker, to use it once. Tim Gettys. How much did that thing cost? 99 or 99 bucks, but still. Come on.
Mike
I could buy a World of Warcraft box for that.
Greg Miller
Just one. Just one, you get?
Mike
Yeah, I just.
Greg Miller
I get it. We all got our own little things. But I look at this and I'm like, not a fucking chance.
Mike
Not a chance of putting my face up.
Greg Miller
No. No, thank you. Meta's pulling out. You should, too, for the classic variety. All right. That kind of looks good, though. That Golf looked good. Wait a second now. I'm not gonna play, Mike.
Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
All we really want on Virtual console is the N64 wrestling games. Make it happen. Pay whoever you need to pay. Get me at least WrestleMania 2000, but also, no mercy. Also WCW, NWO revenge. Then I'll stop talking. All right.
Mike
I'm okay with that.
Greg Miller
I'm all about that, but N64 wrestling games coming to Nintendo Switch Online would be big news. Some would say huge news. If I wanted something, say, the tiniest news I need to know about today, where would I go?
Mike
Greg, I'd take you to our last story, the We News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Greg Miller
Number eight, the Wii News. VGC reports the Super Mario Galaxy's movie release has been brought forward, with the film now arriving simultaneously in major markets like the US and uk. Hidden at the bottom of a news release was the announcement that the US release date for Galaxy has been brought forward by two days to April 1st. No fooling. The super quote. The Super Mario Galaxy will come out on will move from April 3 to April 1 in the US and many additional markets globally, and will be released on April 24th in Japan with select territories releasing throughout April. The announcement reads. Okay, cool.
Mike
Fantastic.
Greg Miller
I'll tell you what, that snuck up on me. I knew we had the direct and yada, yada, yada, blah, blah. I didn't know when that movie was coming out.
Mike
Okay.
Greg Miller
So, April. Oh, hey. Okay. You know what I mean?
Mike
I mean, did you watch that trailer at all? Because you and I were on kind of funny games daily the week before.
Greg Miller
Thought I did.
Mike
Okay.
Greg Miller
I caught the Instagram thing of them getting their fire flowers and Luigi's not going to be scared. And I was like, oh, cute. And I watched it and stopped. I was like, cute. And then I saw clips of Blessing reacting and seeing things and I'm like, I didn't watch everything clearly. Yeah, it was good. Yeah.
Mike
You know, on Friday, I told you, Greg, I was like, I don't need any more of this.
Greg Miller
No.
Mike
I don't know what else they could show.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
But then whatever they showed got me even more excited.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Mike
A lot of Yoshi. Yeah, he's big, which, I mean, big deal. Pretty exciting stuff. A lot of Yoshi. Nice little Mario Odyssey. Yeah. With the cool desert maps are like, yeah, okay, I'll take it.
Greg Miller
Okay, fair enough. Speaking of Nintendo, Nintendo says Tamagotchi life, living the dream. Nintendo Direct is coming on January 29th at 6:00am Pacific. No, we will not be waking up for that.
Mike
There's some. There's some conversation about this. This game. People be chirping about this game. Like, it could be fun.
Greg Miller
I think it could be fun.
Mike
Like, I don't know if I'm gonna vibe with it, but, like, people been chirping so much that I think I have to give this game a try.
Greg Miller
I Definitely am interested. I'm definitely gonna watch the direct. We're gonna talk about it. I'm just saying we're not gonna get up. It's.
Mike
We're not waiting for this.
Greg Miller
We're not 6A for this. Come on now. We got things to do out there. Don't worry about that. But Games Daily will cover it and run you through the big high points of it. Then there's a new poster for Fallout season two, and it reveals the final two episodes have been moved up. Up. That means that today at 6:00pm Pacific, you can get your new episode. Oh, before the Wednesday usual release.
Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
For episode seven. Then episode eight is in fact February 3rd, 6pm as well.
Mike
What are they moving for? Why would they move that?
Greg Miller
I think. Oh, I mean, what. It hasn't the usual drop time been? Is it 1201 or is it 6am oh, on Wednesdays. That's a terrible time. That's stupid. Stupid time. I thought it was for the longest time. I thought the show came out on Thursdays and then I was like, oh, it's coming out Wednesdays, but a weird ass time on Wednesday. I don't know what's going on with this. You know what I mean?
Mike
Final two episodes. I'm excited to talk with you and Blessing about this season.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
Because I have a lot of thoughts.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Mike
I have a lot of good, some bad. I'm not vibing. Oh, I'm liking, but I'm not.
Greg Miller
You're not love.
Mike
I'm not loving.
Greg Miller
Can they. If they land these two episodes, do you think then you're gonna.
Mike
I think they can bring me back. I think they can bring me back with exciting two episodes. But I still will remember the first six where I said, okay, you know, it wasn't. Wasn't great.
Greg Miller
I remember. We are doing our fallout review and back half spoiler cast next week. It will not move from our date. We're still going to do it Thursday the 5th because there's just too many reviews, too many interviews and embargoes happening on the other days to do it. So. Sorry, Amazon, move it all you want, but we're not helping. We're not doing it. Not my. Not on my watch. Okay, then other people like man. Yeah. And Wonder man comes out tonight.
Mike
Who the hell's Wonder Man?
Greg Miller
Thank you very much, Mike. Come on, mcu. Come on, mcu.
Mike
Oh, I saw a commercial for that. Okay, I like.
Greg Miller
What do we. I like Ben Kingsley, but not enough to where I'm gonna be like, I'm gonna sit down and watch this.
Mike
I'll still die on that hill. They. They've missed it. They gotta lock in. They didn't lock in. And they got. They kind of got loosey goosey with it. And they made me watch a bunch of. They lost it. They lost my trust.
Greg Miller
Pixelated Soul says it's been getting really good reviews. Great. I'm glad. And I want people to enjoy it. I just. Like nothing. No, that's one of those ones you're gonna have to tell me at the end or tell me throughout. Like, I. I just. I could not get. I will not be able to dedicate any time there. I will not be. I will not be interested to watch that. And I say that as somebody just. I just. As you all know, I don't value my TV watching. That's just not. You know what I mean? Like, it's got to be something Jen and I both enjoy sometimes. It's gotta be something Jen enjoys. And I play a game next door. So it's like just now. You know what I mean?
Mike
The last time y' all got all crazy, Khaleesi had an alien arm, okay? And y' all were like, you gotta watch this. Mike.
Greg Miller
You. Nobody said you gotta watch. They always. Nobody said, you gotta watch Secret Invasion.
Mike
Everybody's like, you got.
Greg Miller
No one said, you gotta watch Secret Invasion.
Mike
And all of a sudden, you got Daily.
Greg Miller
That, honestly, was my breaking point for Uriel, where it was just like, all right, cool, I'm out. Unless Tim's making me watch these for content and. Or unless they're awesome and they're great and I have to watch them just saying, it's a good show. Like, great. Cool. I'm sorry. I. I'm glad it's a good show. I went. Peacemaker Season 2 was a good show, too. I didn't watch it. I watched episode one, and I was like, ah. Didn't hit as hard as the.
Mike
No, it didn't.
Greg Miller
And I'm like, I know. It'll be like Peacemaker Season 1, where it builds and builds and builds and I care more. But I didn't. And Tick Tock showed me the people who cameoed in it. I was like, cool. That's all I really need to know about. Thanks, everybody. I'm playing video games. The true art form. Nobel over on bs. That's a blue sky. Tim says Monster Hunter Wilds has sold over 11 million units. Congratulations, Greg.
Mike
Nice little accomplishment there.
Greg Miller
Not bad.
Mike
Million. Maybe a big dlc. Boost those numbers up.
Greg Miller
I would like that. I would like.
Mike
I'd like to see that. I'd like to see that.
Greg Miller
Speaking of big DLCs, Splatoon 3 got a new update. It's or is getting a new update. 11 0.0 drops on January 29th and it's changing the meta. I started reading it and I almost went cross eyed. So I was like, you know what? I don't care. Andy can tell you what the meta is because I don't know what the fuck's happening. Got a splat Reigns. The Witcher launches next month on February 25th. And I have a preview in Gamescast right after this. So come hear about that. And then our final bullet point, we news is that Dr. Disrespect still sucks.
Mike
This guy sucks.
Greg Miller
We look over now at the end of we news to the super chats. YouTube.com kind of funny games to be part of the show with your questions, comments, concerns and everything under the daily video game sun. Joshy Frog says, I'm getting the virtual boy thing, period. I know, I'm broken again. Enjoy your money and your time however you want.
Mike
Spend it.
Greg Miller
But they have you on a dog leash. You are their pet. You're not an informed buyer like me. Greg Miller, the new voice of Pokemon Yelsing, says N64 wrestling games are allegedly on your phone. Yes, I know. And they're allegedly on my Steam deck and everything.
Mike
Allegedly.
Greg Miller
Everywhere I want it to be, boom. I turn it on and there it is. You know what I mean? I also want 2K to say, oh man, everybody really wants those games. And now why don't we just make a modern one just like that. And don't come at me with the All Stars Brawl or any of that. But no, just make it like that. Make it look like that. Make it like that. Zeke speaks. Says Samus was my first crush. Too good for him. I don't know if we're in Crush. I don't think we're in Crush phase. Yes. With Samus, if he has a crush on anybody, it's Meta Knight. You know what I mean? Yeah. Yeah.
Mike
Be holding down.
Greg Miller
Yeah. Yeah. My other favorite thing, of course, my son, four years old, incredibly innocent as you'd expect for a four year old. And so he caught my wife off guard the other day. I knew this from reading my books at bedtime with him. All right? But we're at breakfast or in the car on over the weekend and he goes, daddy, who's the black guy again? And I saw Jen start processing the question and I just went, it's Umbreon, the Pokemon. Umbreon, wow.
Mike
Yeah, I was even searching. I was, I was going deep in there.
Greg Miller
It is a Broadway question, but you have to remember who you're talking to as a four year old child. It's Umbreon. It's Umbreon, the Pokemon.
Mike
You know what it is? It's Umbreon.
Greg Miller
Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like, yep, that's the one. Thanks, dad. No problem. Grant Ramirez says GTA. And this is a super chat, of course, GTA 6. Price prediction predictions. I'm assuming $80 minimum. I think that's a super safe bet, don't you? 80 bucks minimum for GTA 6 or.
Mike
You think they don't think they're going to do 70?
Greg Miller
I think they can do 80 and get away.
Mike
I mean, of course they can do anything. We know that. We truly know that they can do any thing. And even the person that says I wouldn't do that, they're going to do that. You think they break the mold?
Greg Miller
I mean, the mold's been broken.
Mike
The mold's been broken.
Greg Miller
We've had $80 games before.
Mike
We're still, we're still settled at 70 though.
Greg Miller
Here's the thing about it. I, I, I don't put it past them to have the multiple version skew thing. And I know we always talk about collector's editions, but I mean here is basic GTA 6. No online and that's $70.
Mike
Okay.
Greg Miller
Then there's $90. That's that. And online with whatever Shark cards and you know, then There is the $120 that comes with X, Y and Z and Y.
Mike
Let's get real. Yeah, we talk about the leaks. They're going to sell you on getting it early. Right. There's going to be a version that says you play this two to five days early. Right. There's no doubt about that.
Greg Miller
The only reason not to is again, what are we talking about with leaks and entertainment Push? I think they the way again, I'm reading into what they're doing here, right. On a rumor of what this Polish site thinks gonna happen. But if you are that concerned about leaks, leaks, you're also just that concerned about expectations and conversation. And so in that world, doing early access doesn't benefit you because it is going to be, I paid extra money and I didn't like it or I played it and it hasn't panned out. And then you get to the Friday Normie release and people are like, I'll, I'll wait and see for what the stream or whoever I watch or whatever. What their final thoughts are going to coalesce as. Like, I don't think that really happened.
Mike
I like that Greg. But like I'm on the different sides. Like how many normies will then become the Super Edition owners? Because they say I can't not miss this.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
I have to be there. Oh, it's $80 normally 120 to get it five days early. I have to give them 120 or I want. Like there's no question in my mind they'll be jumping on that. They have to be all over that.
Greg Miller
I. We will wait and see. I can't wait on Ms. Prime Super Chats. I think the thing I'm most excited for with Fable going forward is implementing Forces weather and season system. Imagine Fable 2. Albion has seasons.
Mike
Yeah. It will be very interesting to see the weather. Of course. Just the world in general.
Greg Miller
Right.
Mike
What they do with Forza and all that tech of bringing the real world into your racing game. How they make these worlds look so special.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
But also so fantasy. Like.
Greg Miller
Right.
Mike
We saw a lot of cool settings in this that aren't just, hey, there's a medieval castle on some, you know, prairie over there. It's gonna be really fun to see if you.
Greg Miller
I listen. You want seasons in Fable 2, that's fine. But your PS5 version will be delayed. That's what happens. Claw Master says Greg with two GS, which I hate. Be careful about getting hyped for Fable. We've been burned before with games like cyberpunk and how every journalist typed it. Maybe didn't hear Claw Master when I said if they do this, there's a lot.
Mike
He's putting a lot of.
Greg Miller
There's a lot of. If there's a lot of asterisks, there's a lot of things going on.
Mike
We had a great conversation when we first saw it. Right. How shallow is this? How deep is this pool? Is the pool like a kitty sized pool? But it's super deep. We'll find out. Also a lot of community focus. Haven't seen much else.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
You know what I mean. So we're still waiting on the other parts of the game.
Greg Miller
The YouTube chat Dirty Daddy 84 says Greg does have two GS. Please time him out. He knows exactly what I mean. All right. Time it out. We know. Barrett. Drink your show. Barrett in the wide shot over here.
Mike
Bear. It's so cool.
Greg Miller
You know what I mean? Just hanging out over here. Getting my flow. Foxy Steve says, as a Fable sicko, I'm happy. Morality isn't tied to look. I'd rather control how I look regardless of my choices.
Mike
I like that. Yeah. I think we're in a special one where it's like ditch the horns. People are going to be commenting on you. They're going to talk about you. You don't have to have some sort of different look to it.
Greg Miller
Irk the Imp says. Is it. Is this finally the Fable game Peter Molyneux promised 20 years ago? We'll see. That's the problem. Fable has promised things for so long that I can't just believe this.
Mike
Yeah, but what was the multiplayer one?
Greg Miller
The cube.
Mike
Yeah, we're all going to tap the.
Greg Miller
Cube and when we'll get to the. There'll be an amazing prize. The fuck is wrong with us? Kebab says with the lack of a physical edition mean we don't get the classic GTA grid cover is the key art of the protagonists on the car hood. It. It's a good question. But yeah, I think you would just get your little.
Mike
Your little square game tile itself.
Greg Miller
Yeah, just the. The protagonists in a pink background in the logo probably.
Mike
Yeah. I don't know.
Greg Miller
GTA 5s right now. They changed it, don't they? They changed.
Mike
They change the game tiles quite often. I don't know what GTA 5's game tile looks like right now, but I mean, the COVID art will be the COVID art on the standard edition when it comes out. For sure they'll have that.
Greg Miller
Steffi Queen. Super Chat says. Hey all, have you seen that Markiplier made a horror movie based on the game Iron Lung. It's in theaters this week. Fans got it in 2500 theaters. I did not see that. Congratulations to Markiplier and all his fans who did that. I won't be seeing it. I was once a fan of a site and I had to go see Laser Team in theaters. So I don't trust. I don't trust Internet people making movies anymore.
Mike
I'm really excited for the Momoa Batista movie collab coming out.
Greg Miller
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mike
Pretty excited. Also bought Anaconda last night. Bad purchase, but I'm all pumped up about it, baby. And Zootopia. Excited for Zootopia too.
Greg Miller
Okay. Zootopia's gonna be streaming somewhere though, for free.
Mike
Well, they're selling it on Amazon. You'd think that they would sell it first, then put it on Disney plus a month later for streaming for free. So you can get suckers like me who want it now to buy it.
Greg Miller
Right?
Mike
So it's like I didn't Want to go to the theater? I'm bored of theaters, Greg. I don't want to go anymore. And so it's like just sell it to me for 2499. I'm going to buy it. Yeah, let me watch that. My own home is right. And then.
Greg Miller
Yeah, Benny scene Zootopia and I didn't buy it. So it was definitely streaming free somewhere on one of the services. But that's the game you play.
Mike
Really?
Greg Miller
You Google it. Deciders got an article. It's completely outdated.
Mike
Yeah, Zootopia 2.
Greg Miller
No, no, Zootopia 1. Oh you bought.
Mike
No, no. Zootopia 2.
Greg Miller
I bought that. What's the one in theaters right now?
Mike
Zootopia 2.
Greg Miller
Sorry, I'm fucking lost. Yeah, I'm lost in the sauce. So the fucking horny Zootopia movie that's still in theaters can also be bought on Amazon right now.
Mike
Right now.
Greg Miller
I love that. You know how much I love Dane dating.
Mike
Come on. I needed it. I needed it.
Greg Miller
I didn't know I could do that. I might buy that then too. You know what I mean? And that's it for the Super Chats everybody. Oh, came in the very bottom here. Verm Deck says it is okay to be cautious about new games, but Cyberpunk does not mean every new game is going to be a disaster at launch. Sure, but we've been burned before and we should pay attention. Yeah. And then Rex the Dino Pup to the sequel 823 super chats. Say first time super chatter here. Always love listening to KFGD and KF in general on the way home or on break time. It's always fun.
Mike
Thanks for listening.
Greg Miller
We're happy to be here for you. Of course we couldn't be here for you if you didn't Support us. On patreon.com kindafunny YouTube.com kind of funny games. Apple and Spotify to pick up your membership to keep the lights and mics on your wrongs. I hate it when I leave it closed. Jeppa, I just want you to know from now on when you say anything, I just delete your name. You know what I mean? So that's what you get. So I don't even know. I don't even know what you're doing.
Mike
It just deleting your name.
Greg Miller
I mean he keeps bringing up this Hecuza stuff. That's what happens to him. Some Jabroni says too big to fail refers to something that cannot be allowed to fail. Not that it is unable to fail, such as the financial system in 2008 well, we're bringing it back and using our own definitions. Don't worry. Bring it back and then Zaxon Galaxion says missed we news. Terraria's 1.4.5 bigger and bolder update is out now. First update in four years. Congratulations, Terraria fans. And that, my friends, is another episode of Kinda Funny Games Daily in the bank. Remember though, Kinda Funny is a live talk show network all about video games. So that means after this you're getting a games cast with my Witcher preview in it. Then of course, it's the Kinda Funny podcast, I believe.
Mike
Right?
Greg Miller
I got that right.
Mike
Yeah, yeah. Kind of a man.
Greg Miller
We're going inside Nick Scarlett. We're getting the inside look at Nick's colonoscopy. And then of course it's going to be a stream more High Guard with Andy and Mike.
Mike
Let's find out about High Guard Day 2. What's the vibe?
Greg Miller
We will find out. So don't go anywhere if you're listening or watching later. Catch all that on podcast services or YouTube.com kind of funny games and know that until next time, it's been our pleasure to serve you.

Hosts: Greg Miller & SnowBikeMike
This episode tackles some of the biggest stories and rumors swirling in the video game industry, with a sharp focus on the bombshell that Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) may forgo a physical edition at launch to prevent leaks. Greg and Mike guide listeners through the potential impact of Rockstar's strategy, the evolution of the all-digital landscape, Microsoft’s evolving multiplatform tactics, fresh Fable details, ongoing industry lawsuits, and persistent nostalgia in Nintendo’s online offerings. The show’s hallmark blend of news, banter, and audience engagement is present throughout.
“Is Take-Two so bullish that they think even removing physical sales, they can come out and say, this is the biggest entertainment launch of all time?”
“GTA is too big to fail, it doesn't matter what happens here. This game could come out and the biggest criticism could be, ‘it's just like GTA 5.’ It doesn't matter. We're all buying this game.”
“We are seeing right now the later staggered release on the PlayStation Works, giving these games new life... but probably from this point forward, it is inside of Xbox and Microsoft—day one, let's aim for PlayStation. The jig is up.”
Greg [32:15]:
“Game of the fucking year. If they nail this—game of the fucking year. I will lose my goddamn mind.”
Mike [36:29]:
“It's something we've all been asking for. It's that level and depth that we've always wanted—get to know this community more.”
Cautionary Note: Hosts acknowledge Fable’s troubled development history and urge caution against hype, but are optimistic (“There’s a lot of ‘if,’ a lot of asterisks”—Greg, [66:10]).
“This is the heartbreaking one, Greg. This is a huge piece in the resume for sure to now miss out on that...you have to restart after three years of hard work.”
“You can all make fun of me for being obsessed with Ghostbusters... the people who are so in the Nintendo tank that they're like, hey, we're releasing another... one of our failed things... we're releasing that so you will buy it... to use it once.”
Greg (about GTA 6 physical release):
"It sounds so outlandish, the headline. And then you read it and you're like, fuck, I could see it." [09:52]
Mike (on leaks):
"This is going to get leaked no matter what... There's no way GTA 6, the biggest entity on planet Earth right now... is not getting leaked ahead of time in some way." [19:22]
Greg (on the digital era):
“I of course love digital, believe in digital. I’m all about digital. But I still worry that they have so many people they think would buy the boxed copy... I also wonder how big GTA is going to be—something you and I never think about because we do digital all the time.” [10:43]
Mike (on Fable’s ambition):
“They're saying all the right things. If you listen to that. If you read that, you probably immediately smiled because it sounds awesome... That's epic. Okay, let's do it.” [32:28]
