Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games daily for Tuesday, April 28, 2026. I'm one of your host, Blessing Addie Oyea Jr. Joining me is the nitro rifle here, Andy Cortez.
Andy Cortez
Good morning, blessing ad oa Jr. I really enjoyed the only two text messages you sent me during your Return of the King.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Cuz I don't want to annoy you. I don't know if I'm annoying you or not when I'm texting you during the movie.
Andy Cortez
Well, first off, it's great content cuz it, you know, I ended the g. The podcast, the kind of funny podcast yesterday with I just received a text message from Blessing and he told me, holy, it's Gollum, dude.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I wish somebody else was there at the moment where I'm like starting the movie and I'm like, who the. Oh, it's Gollum. Like I, I feel like somebody needed to be there to document just how surprised I was. I was like, it's Smeagol.
Andy Cortez
And. And now I have confirmation that you're. You're done with Return of the King because you returned the 4K box set. I'm like, holy, the journey is over.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I can't believe it. I can't believe I watched all three Lord of the Rings movies. Yeah, that's like nine hours of movie right there.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I watched it all.
Andy Cortez
Don't tell me anything about it. I don't want to know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'll keep it.
Andy Cortez
I don't want to know. Keep it to your. Keep it safe.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I can't wait for you to now watch the extended edition and be like, wow, there's more. Here's the thing, though. Not soon. You wait till. That's the thing is I might. I might wait a decade.
Andy Cortez
Give it a couple years.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I might wait a while. No rush. Ain't no rush. But I have to wait until. I'm like, oh, man. Okay. I want to go back and watch Lord of the Rings again. And that's where I do the extended version. Here's the thing, here's the problem with doing that. You're going to watch the extended version. Be like, I think I saw this. Yeah, I think I saw this. And then you're going to watch the originals again afterwards to be like, oh, what did it?
Andy Cortez
And it's like, oh, yeah. Wow, they added that part. Oh, that part is in there.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, wow.
Andy Cortez
I get more backstory here. Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, the only it's the.
Andy Cortez
It's not the Unexpected Journey for most viewers. It is the expected journey.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Here's the thing, right? I. Because I enjoyed all three movies, if I was to choose one right now that I would watch the extended version of, it would be Return of the King. Because I want to know what, like what. What didn't make the cut. I feel like everything is here that I would want to ask for. What was on. What was left on the cutting room floor.
Andy Cortez
The fl.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The. That was all action.
Andy Cortez
The first thing Bless asked me was who. Who's Smog?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, yeah. I. Right before the show, I sit down, I'm like, yo, what's up with Smog? Cuz I thought I was going to see a smog dragon.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And turns out that's from the Hobbit. That's not from these movies. I've heard all about this small guy and you told me that he's played
Andy Cortez
by Benedict Cumberbatch and he puts on a hell of a show.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's crazy.
Andy Cortez
This guy put. This guy is in full character in the making of crawling around on all fours in his gray mo cap suit doing. He's just doing it all.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Is. Is Smog in the first Hobbit movie?
Andy Cortez
I don't know but he's. He's. Yeah. I don't remember.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't think so. I just. Imagine a dragon.
Andy Cortez
Imagine a dragon doing. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Looking at all the timelines, doing the Doctor Strange, looking at the different universes. But also. Yeah. Imagine Dragons. That. That wasn't on purpose.
Andy Cortez
Imagine the dragon radioactive.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I love magic dragons, man. I miss them. Remember, if you're watching live, you can be a part of the show by super chatting in over on YouTube.com kind of funny games. Andy Cortez
Thank you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
If you had to choose between Imagine Dragons and Owl City, who you rolling with?
Andy Cortez
You would not believe your eyes. One million fire flies. I would probably go with Imagine Dragons because they made that last flag capture the flag game and one day I want to try it out. There it is. There's been a December batch.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wow.
Andy Cortez
On all fours. Look at him. Look at him.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I loved him in Imitation Game.
Andy Cortez
Put on a hell of a show. Bless.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wow.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. He's all the way being doing it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Owl City I feel like came and went too fast because they had of course Fireflies was the big hit but then they had a song called Vanilla Twilight.
Andy Cortez
No, they didn't.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, you'd recognize Vanilla Twilight if I
Andy Cortez
played it for you in my. In my head. Canon Owl City put out one song and said that's enough.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, they had at least three.
Andy Cortez
Really?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think I.
Andy Cortez
No, I don't know if I can
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
name the one after Vanilla Twilight, though. But I feel like they had like three, maybe two. I guess they were like Mims. Mims had two songs.
Andy Cortez
Vanilla Twilight is like the. Like, that's in the Owl City word randomizer. A collection of words like. Of course it's called. They made a song called Vanilla Twilight
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
and it sounds exactly like.
Andy Cortez
He looks like Glenn Powell a little bit.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Really? This guy?
Andy Cortez
Oh, look at like the second. The second photo. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What if he learned that that was
Andy Cortez
a storied history.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Crazy career shift for now. Let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have seven stories today. Oh, Baker's dozer. Can you say the Roper Report? But like, how Owl City would say it?
Andy Cortez
Only if you do it the way Obama would do it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Roper. That was good.
Andy Cortez
Thank you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's getting better. I've been practicing my Obama.
Andy Cortez
Time for the Roper port.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There we go. Oh, yeah. This guy's talent. Everybody. Story number one. PlayStation users report new online license checks for digital games. This is Gabe Gerwin at Gamespot. There's a lot of GS.
Andy Cortez
Everything's making you giggles.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't know, man. Yesterday I was hungover and today I'm so refreshed. I got such good sleep last night.
Andy Cortez
That's something you say when you are like just insanely stoned. It's not a. Jeez There.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wait. When you say it out loud though. Digital Games is Gabe Gerwin at Gamespot.
Andy Cortez
Oh, yeah, okay, I see that. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
A new quirk. Whether it's a bug or a feature remains unclear. Has begun affecting PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners with digital game purchases. It appears the system's latest updates have introduced a 30 day online license check for digital games, leaving those who have extended Internet outages without access to certain games. Several users, including the game accessibility Twitter account Does it play? Have reported that all new PlayStation Store purchases, those made before March 2026 appear to be unaffected. Feature a 30 day timer that shows when you will need to connect to the Internet again before losing access. This timer doesn't appear to be visible on the PS5, but according to does it play? It is still being tracked in the background while Unlikely to be a tangible issue for most players. There are definitely use cases that could see a PS4 or PS5 disconnected from the Internet for extended periods of time. It's unclear as of now if this was rolled out as an intentional feature or was a bug included with the recent firmware updates. The online support bot on the official PlayStation website implies it was done on purpose, but. But AI has certainly given us false information in the past. According to a statement. Does it play gave to Kotaku? The license checks may have been introduced to combat refund scams, but were designed to convert into unlimited licenses afterwards. Andy, this seems like a big issue that I hope is an accident.
Andy Cortez
You know what? I would put my money that it's not an accident. I think that if I look at what the. What PlayStation's trying to currently do, I would say that maybe these are preventative measures for future hardware and maybe just kind of getting these measures in right now so that maybe the conversation doesn't surround, you know, they don't wait for the next console drop or whatever. I feel like now is their time to want to do this before this could muddy any sort of press stuff for their upcoming console. I also also see a lot of people talking about is this. Does this maybe have anything to do with a possibly rumored handheld or anything like that? And. And you know, the way that that would kind of mess with licenses and the way people may try to skirt those, you know. Yeah. Laws. Not really laws, but you know what I mean. Regulations, I guess.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I.
Andy Cortez
It's obviously not good. This isn't great.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
The fact that your console would have to connect every 30 days in order to verify that it owns this video game, these games really, really bad. That's something you don't really want to do right now. Especially at a time when people are less incentivized to buy your console now more than ever. Yeah. It's just a string of bad news following a string of bad news.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Here's my thing, right? I have a console for the people that don't like this. It's called the PS3.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That harkens back to a quote from 2013 when Xbox is trying to do essentially the same thing. I don't think they did in the same exact sort of way, but it was the same idea of you got to log online in order to play your games. That was the thing that I think we cared about so much back then. And maybe as less of an issue as time goes as we're all more and more and more connected. But I Still think is very much an issue when we're talking about games preservation. Of course. Right. Like I look at a. And I know this is a weird case but I look at something like PT where I still have my PS4 that has PT on it in the idea that because of this like, or because of any sort of regulation, oh shit, that might be, that might become unplayable because whoever doesn't want me to play that anymore, I think that's scary. I think there is, there's power in ownership and also I think people have desire to actually own their games. You know, I think digital games are becoming more and more of a piece of a pie that should benefit everyone. But it's things like this that make you go, oh, okay, maybe I should be collecting physical games.
Andy Cortez
Maybe, maybe I'm just leasing these things, you know, like I. You start, yeah, you start to lose any sense of ownership when that power is still kind of held over you. I think that, I think that this is nothing but bad news and this will likely not. This will likely continue. We'll discover more and more bad things about it. There's been a lot of people on Reset Era kind of discovering and trying to explore how the actual feature works. And there are people who have been testing out this game bot on this date does this, this game bot on this state does this. And it does seem like that little ping will happen and tell you, hey, sorry, you need to connect to the Internet to verify that you own this. I. It does seem like there are people like this is Sony's way of trying to combat this 15 day return policy. Yeah, that's a lot of what the discussion that I'm seeing. A lot of people assuming that this is Sony's way of saying we don't want you to verify that you own this thing to get the unlimited license and then return it and then be able to like have the unlimited license for this game even though you return it within the 14 day period. I guess there's like a way that the DRM will address or not address but like give out either the temporary license or the permanent one. Not exactly sure how a lot of that works. I think there still needs to be a little bit more investigation there, but it's not good, you know, especially in a day and age where more and more people are, you know, I would say like PC gaming is still probably the best way to not deal with this sort of stuff and even there are some issues on that side as well. But either way, man, it's like it's like you wake up and there's constantly going to be a new bad news thing happening. But like I mentioned earlier dude, less and less people are incentivized to buy a PlayStation now with with the rising costs this is just another reason to go damn, you're really trying to just push me away from your ecosystem.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh for sure. Want to bring in some super chats because a lot of people have a lot to say. Alvaro CN says important games for me I always buy physical. Too many stores closed already and we don't have any guarantees buying digital only get cheap sales. Street Shadow also writes in it says just to combat reactionary takes. The biggest indication that this is likely a bug is that it is not widespread and PS5 doesn't seem to be impacted. I feel like is PS5 not impacted? I read that as PS5 is impacted by this or at least some people are reporting this on PS5. But correct me if if I'm wrong, I'm trying to click this thing and the menu keeps blocking the comments that are replied to it. Immersion Fragrances writes and says did we flip timelines now PlayStation is putting up Ls while Xbox wins. Here's the thing, whoever's in the lead is always the most likely to fuck up. I feel like that's always been the history of hey, we just sold millions and millions and millions of our last console. Now we're in the lead. We can get away with or we're going to, we're going to at least try to get away with that the other guys might not do because guess what? When Xbox is in second or third place they are in are in the position to go fuck, we need, we need to get people back on our side. Let's create features. Let's, you know, let's do better on our games or whatever XYZ thing to try and get people back. Not that Xbox is doing all those things, but usually it's how it goes and then the first place is the one that kind of, you know, rests on the lore laurels a bit. So that part doesn't surprise me. If PlayStation is actually doing this, if this isn't a bug, if this is a feature, I kind of look at that and I go, yeah, that's par for the course.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, that's what I do whenever we're like, whenever I see our numbers dip in bless. I start sending people pieces of my clothing. You know, try to win them back. You know, try to win back the bad base.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Also I don't know if I would say Xbox is winning. Even though Xbox in the last few weeks have been making and saying good things, I. I feel like the only winner I got in my heart right now is my Steam deck. You know what I mean?
Andy Cortez
Nintendo's doing all right, even though they don't have the craziest lineup, but they are the ones that, you know, are still putting up numbers. They don't have a lineup that makes you say, I need to get a switch to right now. But it's still selling pretty well. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Dexter Schwarzer says, I can't tell you how proud I am of you. Bless for watching Lord of the Rings. Need you and Andy to run KFD and D. Much love to y'.
Andy Cortez
All.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I. I want to do KFD and D so bad. And here's the thing. For us to do KFD and D, we need somebody to be the dm, and I think that would likely either be Nick or me. And I've been playing D and D in my free time to try and, like, learn how to DM a little bit, manage that shit hard. Like, I underrated the amount of knowledge and the amount of skill it takes to dm.
Andy Cortez
You ever get asked a question? You're just like, man, I don't know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. And like, I'm asking our DM's name is R. I'm asking Riley all these questions, and she's got something for everything. Like, she's up there freestyling. She's up there, like, improving, doing the voices, creating the story. And I'm like, damn, that's a skill. I don't know if I have it in me, too. I know I have it in me to do that. I just know that'll take a lot of preparation and a lot of studying up on the world of D and D to do that.
Andy Cortez
I. I'm right there with you. It is such an underrated skill that until you kind of listen to it, you don't really fully have an appreciation for it. I. We. We all had the. The privilege of. Of being in our friends from formerly Rooster Teeth, Tales of Stinky Dragon. We got to voice some characters in their rp, in their shore, in their show that they've kind of got running right now, their campaign. And so I voiced two characters in February, and then I voiced one recently for one of their side shows. That's more of a, like, X Men superhero type deal. It's. It's less like medieval fantasy. And as I'm trying to get clips of myself to, like, get, like, put in a reel or whatever. I am just listening to what the DM is doing and saying and we'll get asked a question. So what am I looking at around here? Well, you're looking at it. You see a window there and you see a bed. Okay, well, there's. There's two beds, but the person, the other person in the room took both mattresses and put some against the wall. It's like, how do.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How do you know this?
Andy Cortez
Why?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, you pull that out of thin air.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like it's so.
Andy Cortez
So you can just make the rules like that. That was one thing that always confused me with D. And D until I kind of started would. I would start listening to other big podcasts or when we had our Fast and Furious Dungeons and Dragons run the other couple years ago now with Nick. But yeah, it's. It's quite the skill for sure.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I'm at the point where I'm like, I think Nick would be the person to do it. I think Nick has the creativity and, and already has the skills from the Fast and Furious thing and he has the interest. Like, I brought up D and D in the past, and I can see Nick's face light up a little bit when I mention it.
Andy Cortez
So no, he. He gets excited. Yeah, we got to juice him up.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want to bring in another super chat from Volk Dasher who says, this DRM way this DRM was probably the quickest defense until a alt since PS5 and PS5 Pro root keys were leaked. I'm reading this verbatim. You can go any torrent site and download a large amount of PS5 games and Jailbreaker console. PS Andy and Bless Tacks. Thank you so much, Volkdasher.
Andy Cortez
Thank you, Volkdasher.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And yeah, I'm sure again, I'm not in a place with this where I'm leaning one way or the other as far as is this a bug? Is this a feature? If this is a feature, then for sure, yeah. I believe this is probably their way to get around anybody who's trying to either pirate shit or game. The system of the game returns and all this shit. Right? Like, I think that's where what they're doing, but also then stepping on everybody else's fun in the process when it comes to how much people like us care about game ownership. And like, I know it's. It's becoming more and more of a very rare case where your PlayStation is not connected to the Internet every 30 days, but even still, I don't care. I want the option.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, I Want to have the freedom to be like, hey, I don't need the connectivity in order to play these games that I own.
Andy Cortez
And if you're trying to bypass or deal with piracy, I feel like whenever a company tries to do something as drastic as this, that, that only ignites the fires of the pirates more and say, like, no, we're going to. Now we're going to pirate everything. I was planning on buying that one. But no, like we're going to try to do everything even harder now. And I don't, to me, like the casual audience will still buy the thing, but anybody who was maybe on the fence of going down that path of, of piracy, they are going to do it for sure now. Because now it's like, well, you, now you're trying to take away ownership. Now you're trying to say that this thing has to be connected to the Internet for, you know, after 30 days in order to work, you know, I'm gonna do this harder now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
For me, it's just another reason to go play games somewhere else. Yeah, you know, I'll just play games on PC or Xbox or somewhere else that doesn't do this. The same exact thing. Let's move on to story number two. A third Nintendo Illumination movie is set for 2028. That's according to the Universal schedule. I'm reading from Andy Robinson at Video Games Chronicle. A new Nintendo and Illumination animated movie is scheduled for release in April 2028. That's according to the newly updated release schedule on the Movie Studios Spanish website, which was updated on April 23 to add, among other things, a new Nintendo collaboration according to the schedule. And an untitled Illumination slash Nintendo event film will release on April 12, 2028. Unsurprisingly, the movie is listed as an animation project.
Andy Cortez
Event film.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Event film.
Andy Cortez
That's the big takeaway here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What do you mean expound?
Andy Cortez
I mean, we already saw a Mario movie that brought in Star Fox. We saw Pikmin in there. We saw characters from all the different Mario movies, which is like still within the ip, but it's still interesting that they would do that. I don't think you call it an event film. I don't think you use that term unless it's like, you know, don't. Don't make me dream unless we're doing shit.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Don't make me dream unless we're doing shit. I just viewed his placeholder text of like. I think any, I think for Illumination, any Nintendo collab film is an event film in the sense of like, it's gonna be One of the. It's gonna be the highest grossing movie of theirs in the like.
Andy Cortez
You think they're calling Monsters and Minions and Monsters an event film?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, but I think they're called Mario an event film.
Andy Cortez
I. To me, that's just like a collab. They've already done that. Can you have that many events? You know what I mean?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wait, what's Minions and Monsters?
Andy Cortez
It's a new thing coming up. You've seen a lot of commercials about it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Bless Minions and Monsters.
Andy Cortez
Minions and Monsters. The Minions are like, creating monsters. They have access to technology that, you know, dark lords and. And, you know, you know, sorcerers have access to. And they are creating Frankenstein type creatures.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Why do you know this?
Andy Cortez
NBA playoffs commercials.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay.
Andy Cortez
They're all over the place.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know too much about the Minions.
Andy Cortez
These little are all over the place now. What I did see the logo several months ago. I'm like, man, there's still illumination. Just. Just putting mid after mid out there. You know, like, they. It does seem like general consensus that after the first Despicable Me that there was just a nosedive of actual comedic quality in these movies.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What about Despicable Me Too? I never watched that one, but I
Andy Cortez
feel like the streets fucked in review.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We. Did we do that in review?
Andy Cortez
I don't know. I'm going to put it on. I want to put it on a YouTube poll and ask, do the streets fuck with Despicable Me too. Let me do that. I'll get back to you here in
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
a second while you're doing that. Yeah, like, I view Event is like, in somebody. Maybe somebody else has the language for what they call their movies in general. Because I wonder if that's just a placeholder for. We don't have a title here, so we'll just call this like an event film. But I don't know. Either way, my thought was actually Donkey Kong.
Andy Cortez
Oh.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because Donkey Kong's been rumored for a while starring Seth Rogen.
Andy Cortez
And it makes perfect sense because as we're watching the Mario movie, we're going, where the heck is this?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, where's dk?
Andy Cortez
Where is he?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, we got Fox in here, but, like, where's. Man, What? I love a movie that's just dk, Mario and Fox hanging out.
Andy Cortez
Just a buddy cop.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, at that point, that's a smash trio.
Andy Cortez
Well, I mean, yeah, you are kind of.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Right.
Andy Cortez
I think that Samus really kind of makes it go full circle. I think the inclusion of Samus really makes me think of Smash, bro.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You need somebody who's Like a realistic person. You need somebody with a regular human ass.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, these three are cartoons. They all fit in the same world. We need somebody.
Andy Cortez
I need a Mr. Rod. Mr. Or no. What was I saying? Roger Rabbit. I was gonna say Mr. Rogers Rabbit is what I almost said. I need a human in there or just an animated version. Like when I think. When I think back to that one leaked animated film or not leaked animated film, but it was like this really awesome artist did tests of how Samus would look. And like in a sort of DreamWorks animated thing, it's like, oh, I want that. I want that movie. You need someone illumination.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You need somebody for, like, when they stand next to Mario, they're like, what are you like, because our proportions are not the same.
Andy Cortez
We're both human.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We're not. I'm not. You like Captain Falcon and SA to each other. It's like, okay, what's up? Oh, yeah, Big dap up or whatever. But then they see Mario walk up and they're like, what the.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Who's this little creature?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Mushroom grows. In a weird way. Yeah. No, I. I look at this as. As Donkey. Either Donkey Kong or Mario 3. But I'm. I feel like we. It's time to get. Start getting these spin offs. I think it's about time. I think you got to diversify a little bit.
Andy Cortez
When do we see Kirby make an appearance?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay, you want my hall H? Is it hall homicide? My hall H pitch. We go.
Andy Cortez
We got to get this on the wall behind you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Like in the future, we go Donkey
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Kong as the next movie.

2028.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
2028.
Andy Cortez
Which makes sense because of the theme parks that, you know, like, all DK
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
has been making a big splash. You got Bonanza last year. Like, Nintendo is obviously trying to push DK right now. So have that be next up on your movie slate. There's also really good stuff there you can do with dk. You get in the diddy, all this. Kong, Diddy, Kong, Diddy, Kong Diddy, Kong. Do all that. It'll be great. 2029, there's two places you go. You either go Star Fox or you go Mario.
Andy Cortez
You think they're doing a year after.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Damn.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think it's time to start ramping this up.
Andy Cortez
Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think it's time to start.
Andy Cortez
We see how much money they make. Yeah, let's. Let's hire on another 200 employees or whatever.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And then, honestly, maybe you do two in one year. Maybe you do Star Fox and Mario in 2029.
Andy Cortez
I would love. I would Love a smaller scale star Fox thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think it'd be fun. Maybe it's. Maybe it's a TV show.
Andy Cortez
I'm just so, like, I'm just so sad about the illumination of it all, though. I know, I know. I'm like, I'm beating a dead horse. And like, whenever I bring up my points, Tim already responds to me as if, like, Andy, you're beating the dead horse because you just want to Bill Lord and. And Chris Miller to work on this. You just want the Spider verse team. But it's like, I also would love the Ninja Turtles mutant mayhem team. I would love the any of any quality movie that gives you really funny, quirky, good writing. Just give it to some. It just makes me so sad visually. Like you can't even.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's so.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, they're so, so well made. Yeah, they're so well animated. You're watching that thing in theaters.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, this is fucking incredible take on that, right? But to continue to finish off off my hall, H 2030 is smash. And Smash introduces us to Kirby. And then after that, we get the Kirby movie.
Andy Cortez
Bam.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, what is that Kirby doing? What is Kirby doing?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, is he talking?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's. Was he. He wasn't talking to Kirby. Right back at you. Right. What the is that Fox kids? You don't remember? Kirby right back at you. Oh, dude. Oh, dude. Kirby right back at you was awesome. It was a Saturday morning cartoon on.
Andy Cortez
Was this after Martin or what is it called? Right back at you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't know. It's funny because. Yeah, that was. It's funny because that was my first time watching Kirby show. So why is he. Right back at you? Yeah, I feel like that should be Kirby's first time, actually. If anything, it's like when I first
Andy Cortez
heard Backstreet's back, I was like, what do you mean you're back?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You just got here. Yeah, exactly. But no, he wasn't. I don't think Kirby wasn't talking there. I don't think Kirby talks.
Andy Cortez
52% say that. Yes, the streets do fuck with this despicable me.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
See, that's what I. Despicable me too.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay, that's what I thought. Now here's my thing about illumination, because I think you're absolutely right. However, in a weird way, doesn't that fit perfectly with Mario? Because Mario was. Mario doesn't have a story really. Like Mario in a weird way is just about the charming characters and the gameplay, which you can't. You can't depict in a movie really.
Andy Cortez
I I disagree only from the standpoint that my, my take is still that I don't need the story to be good. I just need better moment to moment comedic writing. Okay. I, I, I don't need this overarching story with the crazy amazing twist or like a revelation and then you go, holy all. What a callback. And all this all comes together and like, holy, they were planting the seeds of the story. No, I don't need any, Just give me good comedic moment to moment writing and like when you can't even do that. I think, I think Justin McElroy from the Besties put it perfectly in one of their episodes recently about the Mario movie. Mario cannot undergo change ever. Because Mario is always just Mario. He's never going to learn or grow. He cannot change into this character that has seen a lot of shit, been through a lot of trauma, is now like a different person. He's the mascot. He has to be at the origin point. He is 00 on yeah. Of, of all, all things Nintendo. So he can never really change as a character and undergo shit. He's always going to be himself. And that's why you don't really have a whole lot that happens to him. He might love his brother a little bit more, you know, he might enjoy relationships a more, but he's never going to like, holy, I'm a different man now. Like, whoa, Mario, remember where he wasn't. You know, when you ever, you see comparisons of like, man, look at this character from Game of Thrones in season one versus Season four. They've been through some that's never gonna be Mario. And I think that was like the perfect, most salient point I'd heard on Mario. And that's okay. I don't need story shit. I just need like better writing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I just need to laugh more.
Andy Cortez
And this is me like getting on my like my own high horse. Like I would love to have just been in the room and been like, let's make this joke. This, let's do this here. Yeah, I think this would be funnier.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
My thing is like I, I think in a weird way, I, for me, it's not illumination and it's not illumination's style of Mario that's the problem. But I think it is the, it is just the way they're making it. Right. It is the pacing. It is Mario Galaxy feels like it's being paced like a YouTube video.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know what I mean? Like, it is very like, it's a
Andy Cortez
moment, it's a bunch of scenes that like don't connect. And that's okay if I'm in. If I'm really enjoying what's happening.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
But I'm not really enjoying what's happening a lot of the time. And I'm just like, colors are pretty, animation's amazing, fight scenes are awesome.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Choreography every now and then is like. Is my thing with those movies. Cuz you're right. I think all those things you said are true. But yeah, like there's something lacking as far as how the story all connects together in a way that, you know, in a way that makes you care about the character development. And like, I know you just said Mario doesn't really have character development and I agree. But Bowser should, you know, Luigi should peach like the characters that are around.
Andy Cortez
Mario, give me the Puss and Boots. Give it a DreamWorks.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh my God.
Andy Cortez
Like, oh man.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh my God.
Andy Cortez
Oh my goodness. Blessing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We could talk about this all day, but also you got to make a Luigi's Mansion movie as well. That should fit somewhere in there.
Andy Cortez
And honestly could be a Halloween time thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm saying all this like a special.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like what was the. What was the Marvel Nightmare Something Werewolf.
Andy Cortez
Werewolf by Night.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Werewolf by Night. Where Luigi by Mansion.
Andy Cortez
What are does I'm trying. Look, there's been just a mess of the last several years of companies buying out companies and ownership and rights and all that. Who has like the Mario streaming rights? Is that Netflix?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The Mario streaming? It might be neff. It was at. It was on Netflix at some point.
Andy Cortez
Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't know if it still is
Andy Cortez
because we haven't had a whole lot of mentions of anything television wise or anything. Just direct to streaming.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
For Nintendo, Right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Correct.
Andy Cortez
Okay. I feel like we're going to get there soon. Smaller scale things, smaller projects.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It makes sense.
Andy Cortez
You know, I think that's the way
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
to do it because the thing is, I'm listing all these different movies. Illumination can't do all that.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Illumination can probably put out one movie every two to three years from Nintendo.
Andy Cortez
So like it's still on Netflix as Shinobis. Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How are we gonna do it? A few people are saying it's Peacock in chat. Movies are Peacock and Universal. It rotates. Peacock had it first.
Andy Cortez
Snowbike Mike in the YouTube chat says gots got so many movies they're about to become directed DVD sequels and move they're about to become to to DVD sequels and movies.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I get what he's saying.
Andy Cortez
Luigi's Mansion sounds like a direct to DVD movie. Yeah, like that sounds like a special. That would be 38 minutes long on just the streaming service. You know what I mean?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I just think it deserves better. I think Luigi's Mansion should be a theatrical. Like, think about it.
Andy Cortez
You want Blumhouse.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We're talking about the Mario movie, which Mario Galaxy got a negative 10 on rotten tomatoes, and it's still one of the highest grossing animated movies of all time.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We can make a Luigi's Mansion movie because that's still gonna be in the top 10 highest grossing animated things.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, there's a good. There's a good chance. Well, it would also be a good chance to see how much juice Luigi's got.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, that's fair.
Andy Cortez
You know what I mean? I like that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. I honestly, same with. I'm more curious about Star Fox and dk.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Than Luigi. I think I want to see how much juice DK's got in the theatrical release. I want to see. I also want to see. Because I. Going into the movie, I mentioned to Greg on the show that I see Star Fox being in the Mario movie similar to Obafemi being called up and fighting Brock lesnar in the WrestleMania main event. Right. Basically, for people who don't have no idea what I just said, basically, in wrestling, there was a guy who was in, like, a lower division, got called up, and they had him fight one of the biggest guys in the bigger division to, like, elevate him. I want to see what that Mario bump looks like, release a Star Fox standalone thing, and let's see how it does now that he hung out with Mario for a movie.
Andy Cortez
As of Nintendo's Q3 financial report, which was February 2026, so that was about a little over two months ago, or close to two months ago, DK Bonanza had sold 4.20, 4.25 million, which is more than I thought it would be.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay.
Andy Cortez
To be honest with you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, DK has the juice.
Andy Cortez
That's a.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's.
Andy Cortez
That's a pretty heavy attach rate.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, it also was the first, like, video game on the Switch to. Not the first video game.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Mark our world. Other ones, but the first single player, like, adventure game on the Switch to. Hmm.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. I mean, interesting. As of the. As of April 22, 2026, the first 10 months of the Nintendo Switch 2, they've sold 5.4 million copies. That's an insane attach rate. Or 5.2. 5.4 million Switch twos.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Andy Cortez
That's a crazy attach rate.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, again, it came out month two. It was the first single player thing.
Andy Cortez
How many people you think bought that or beat that game?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Beat DK Bonanza.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. I have a feeling it's got to be one of the. One of the worst completion rates.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Really?
Andy Cortez
The every like aside from people are kind of funny. The amount of people that tell me that they just fell off of that game. Really? Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
See, I was gonna say like 50%. I don't know if that's high or low.
Andy Cortez
I think that's high.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think for most games that's high. But for the Nintendo audience, I don't know.
Andy Cortez
Something think about chat. Let us know what put a poll
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
if you bought dk but did you beat it? I know we have a skewed audience
Andy Cortez
here because they're all gamers.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Gamers.
Andy Cortez
We got a bunch of gamers. Yeah. They almost beat Pokemon Fire Red in the chat.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Crazy, right?
Andy Cortez
Gamers.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Gamers. We're gonna move on to story number three and talk about the Far Cry TV show. But before we do, God damn it. And we're back with story number three. Noah Holly says his Far Cry TV show won't be adapting any of the games and is instead betting on an anthology format. This is Fran Ruiz at Eurogamer. I believe you already knew about the anthology thing, but the it not being based off of any of the games seems very interesting. It hasn't been too long since we learned that a Far Cry TV series is in the works. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia's Rob Mack and Alien Earth's Noah Hawley are leading the charge, and the latter has now revealed a bit more about his approach to adapting the beloved video game franchise. Spoiler alert, he's not adapting any one game. Deadline recently had the chance to sit down and chat with Holly, who's now preparing for the Alien show's second season and writing the scripts for Far Cry. While the live action adaptation of Ubisoft's Open World FPS series is still in the early stages, he confirmed it's moving along and could be shot shortly after Alien wraps up Quote I built them both out of London at Pinewood and there is a secondary location that will serve both shows. I've tried to be smart about it, he revealed when asked about how he was planning to juggle both shows. It must be noted that while he's overseeing the two ambitious projects, he won't be directing the entire seasons. In fact, he's skipping directorial duties on alien Earth Season 2 in order to better focus on Far Cry. According to Deadline's piece, Holly is directing Far Cry's first two episodes on top of writing the scripts. After cracking the story on that front, he's reconfirmed after the announcement last year that his take on Far Cry won't adapt any of the games. Quote One thing that really attracted me to the Far Cry franchise is that it is an anthology and every time they release a new game it is a totally different story. That's how I approach Fargo and it was an exciting idea that we could build an anthology game adaptation with where each season is a different story about civilized people thrown into situations where they have to become increasingly uncivilized. End quote well, that's a pitch perfect description of what the Far Cry series has become under Ubisoft's guidance. That hasn't stopped nostalgic gamers from raising the alarm before learning anything about the show. Even Far Cry 4 creative director Alex Hutchinson said on LinkedIn. Holly's quick Holly's quick comments are pissing him off, which suggests that even the far even the franchise's key creatives would rather retread old stories than honor the franchise's format in a different medium. Quote Let me have a dialogue with this franchise because this is what I think a Far Cry story is, hawley added before claiming video games quote are built in a way that doesn't make for the best drama. End quote in most cases. A lot to chew on here. I think the big headline of the story being, of course, anthology. We knew that not based on any particular Far Cry game. I guess we kind of knew that. But also it's kind of like the lead here that we're talking about. I don't think it's bad because even though I Love Far Cry 3, I don't know if that's the perfect story to adapt. Just as far as, like, care. I think Voss is cool. I would love to see Voss in live action actually. But aside from that, it's like it's not the deepest story, it's not the most interesting. You know, like you can make it better. But I think the big premise of Far Cry. Yeah. Being about these big, big personality villains that have. Have an area under control and, like, trying to get from underneath that. Right. Like, I think that's. Those are kind of the tenants that make Far Cry what it is. And there's so many stories you can tell within that.
Andy Cortez
For me, it just kind of makes me feel like, okay, well, just make whatever TV show you want to say it was inspired by Far Cry. Like, if you're gonna use the ip, it reminds me of a Call of Duty or a battlefield movie. Like, those movies have to have touchstones in order to be a movie about that game. The. The movies have to have Call of Duty movies. You know, who do we gotta have? My main man. My number one. So McTavish. You know, it's gonna have it. There's got to be a. A character that you can recall and say, I know who that dude is. I know who that character is. In order for it to be a game based on the ip. But if you're just talking about the general concept of a character being thrown into a situation that they're uncomfortable with and they have to kind of, like, you know, I guess get more and more aggressive against the aggressor, then that's just like any. That's just a story. I don't know. It's that. It's so bizarre to me. Unless you. Unless you're going to be referencing and having those main characters in the game, then what really is this?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I. I view this all as such a byproduct of where we're at in entertainment, where everything has to be based on ip, which is why we're seeing a million video game adaptations. Because video games right now is just a sea of IP that's been mostly unused in the entertainment space. TV and movies. And so, like, oh, I want to. I have a new TV show I want to make that's about being out in the wilderness and fighting people with guns. Oh, well, let's adapt Far Cry because that's the only way we're going to get this made is if we call it something that already exists, which I think sucks.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But also, like, I think I've also just reached the place where I'm like, I guess that's the business. Like, I guess that's just how. How things are. And it depresses me. But I'm also like, I think I've. I've hit the acceptance part of mine. My depression. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
But I. I, like, I guess at that point it just, you know, I Love. I love Fargo. I think Fargo's an amazing show because of this, because of the storytelling, because of the, you know, the fact that it is this anthology, and every season it's a new adventure you're going on. Which again, like, he's, like, Holly's mentioning. Very similar to Far Cry. When a new game comes out, it's a. It's a standalone. It has nothing to do with the prior one. But if you're not adapting what makes those games, Far Cry, then you're just talking about making like, a regular old movie. It reminds me of. I've. As somebody who is. Is constantly referencing the. The Dan LeBatard show, and they're them talking about Miami Vice and how when they did the original Miami Vice reboot with Jamie Foxx, and I forget who else was in that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Know what you're talking.
Andy Cortez
Because the brand new one is going to be starring Michael B. Jordan and Homeboy, who was Elvis. I'm blanking on his name.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, really? Yeah. Is it. Is it the dude from Euphoria? No. Austin Butler.
Andy Cortez
Right. So the. The prior sort of reboot that was done maybe a decade ago or whatever with. Yes, that's the. Thank you, Kevin. The one with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx. The. The story here is that the director and writer was like, they wouldn't have let me make this crime movie unless I had to call Miami Vice, or else it's just an action movie, and they wouldn't have really let me make it unless it had an IP attached to it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
So it just feels like.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, it's.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, it just feels like Holly's like, why? I got a bunch of, like, cool action concepts and stories about, you know, whatever. A person being thrust into a really tough situation. I guess we can call it Far Cry.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, you know, I got. Well, I. I got two questions for you in that case. Right. My first question is, which Far Cry story would you adapt? Slash, would you even adapt a Far Cry story? Like, is this something that you would. You would do? Because I look at the Far Cry games and I'm like, I guess you can make something cool out of Far Cry 5 or Far Cry 3. But if I'm in the. If I'm in the boardroom and you're pitching in a Far Cry TV show, I'm kind of like, I don't know. It feels like whatever.
Andy Cortez
Far Cry 5 was always the most interesting to me because I just. I gravitate towards stories like that. And Also Far Cry 5, when that game came out, I still think to this day, it's one of my favorite openings to a video game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Sure.
Andy Cortez
And you know, sure, it fell apart here and there or whatever, but I. Far Cry 5 is still the most interesting to me because I, I love a story about a weird ass cult, a weird ass religious cult. And this is, this is on the heels of, you know, after a couple years of falling in love with True Detective and the idea of like these pockets of society that have so much power that, you know, these cult like figures and people follow them. And I always just love the idea of like this, these people went there too investigate this weird kind of cult family and as kind of goes crazy, they try to fly away and then they're, you know, airplane or a helicopter or whatever goes down and now they're stuck behind enemy lines and it's like, holy, what a cool concept. Yeah, that would probably be the most interesting one to me. But that's also coming from someone who never played Far Cry 4. I didn't play the one with you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I did play Far Cry 4. I couldn't tell you shit about it. Except for Troy Baker.
Andy Cortez
I know he was like a flat villain. That's all I remember.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Because then my follow up question is what makes Far Cry Far Cry? Because for me the most important things about Far Cry, or at least when I think of why I'm picking up a Far Cry game off a shelf, it's less so the main narrative of these games and more so like I know what I'm getting when I get a Far Cry, which is a big villain personality that is a dictatorial force that is oppressing people. And you are playing as somebody who is using guns to free and I guess liberate. Yeah, liberate these oppressed people. And so for me I'm like, if I get those bones and you call it Far Cry, that's kind of good enough. And then if you give me loose references, right. Like if you threw the character of Voss in there and told whatever story. I'm kind of down for that. If you threw in Far Cry 5 villain. Don't tell me actually something. Seed. John Seed.
Andy Cortez
John Seed.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, Seed. If you threw in him in there, right. Like.
Andy Cortez
Or Giancarlo Esposito, Part six.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Like if you start to, you know, fill filter in these characters or references to them or have a part where yeah, somebody's like, dude, this is going on over this island is fucking crazy. I think that could be fun. Give me some hunting, you know, Give me, give me a Komodo dragon. That fucks me up.
Andy Cortez
Oh, right, yeah, Yeah. I mean, I expect a lot of humor as well, I think.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Joseph Seed.
Andy Cortez
Joseph. Yeah, my bad.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
John Farcroy.
Andy Cortez
I told. I totally just, like, backed you up on that one. I thought I was right. I thought you were right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It was close enough. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. But I don't know. Yeah, it is kind of a weird one. It does. It does seem like this is an opportunity for creators to say, well, I've always had this idea for this sort of thing. What if we could attach it to an IP and just have it kind of loosely based to it. It does feel like kind of cheating, though, like. Well, then you're not really making it
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
the IP then, because I'm kind of with you. If I was to make a Far Cry movie or Far Cry TV show, I would. I would make it the loose bones of Far Cry 3 and then just make it better.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. You know, you can't, in my opinion, you cannot make a Far Cry TV show unless you have several of the characters from one of those games in this.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Write it however you want. Use the loose bones of that story and kind of build it up a bit better narratively. But if you're not using that, then it's just another ip. Yeah, it's just another thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And to your point, like in this last quote with Holly that I disagree with, but you can dig into it and have a big conversation about it, right. He says, quote, let me have a dialogue with this franchise, because this is what I think a Far Cry story is. And then it adds that video games are built in a way that doesn't make for the best drama. I disagree with that last part because I just think it depends on the type of game that you're making. I'm sure I. I hear him as far as, like, you know, I think for a lot of types of games, you have this structure of what the game mechanics are and you kind of have to like write around that to justify why you're doing this thing in the game. And, you know, maybe it's not as story led as what you might get out of another medium, but there are plenty of games that are story led that like, have such good drama.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Them. So I disagree in that sense. And maybe that's why he's like, I'm not going to adapt a specific Far Cry story. I'm going to redo it. However, I do think there are ways that you could do it. I think you could have a vase and could tell a story about young adults on that landed on an island that is ruled by crazy people. That's a cool concept.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's Far Cry 3, you know? And is this writing a 10 out of 10? No, but you take what is what, a 7 out of 10 story. 6 out of 10, it's been a while. And uplift that and make it dope.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Anyway, because Fargo rocks. Should I watch it?
Andy Cortez
Fargo's awesome.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I got a list of shows right now that I want. I want to watch beef season two because I love beef season one. IGN give season two a 10 out of 10.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, that's true.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And then I want to watch the Last Dance.
Andy Cortez
Oh, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Michael Jordan.
Andy Cortez
You definitely should. Yeah. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Those are my two. Those are the two. Two shows on my.
Andy Cortez
The Last Dance is the one is the documentary that feels the least meddled with where all the more recent documentaries, they're not getting made unless you have the creator's approval. Unless you have the person's approval for the rights and all that. And that means that they're going to be very, you know, polished. You're gonna have a version of the character that you're not going to see a whole lot of issues with. It's. It's. You know, one of the better tweets I saw recently was, you know, you can't make the Michael Jackson movie without the Michael Jackson music, and you don't get the music unless you have the rights and the permission of the Michael Jackson estate. Yeah. Meaning your movie's not gonna really be all too controversial. And so one of the best tweets I read was like, the Michael Jackson movie is like a movie about O.J. simpson, but it ended with him just winning the Heisman in college, and that's it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Andy Cortez
Where it's like, they don't get into any really controversial stuff that happened in his life. And so the Last Dance still does a bit of that, shockingly. But it's. It's largely like a documentary that was, like, approved by Michael Jordan. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There was a super chat that I was trying to find. I'm sorry, I can't find it, but somebody was asking if I can tell you about.
Andy Cortez
Oh, it was from Kinetic. $7. Super chat from Kinetic. Thank you. Oh, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Can I tell. I mean, you got to watch Invincible. Everybody should got. Everybody has to watch Invincible.
Andy Cortez
I just started The Boys Season 5.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, cool.
Andy Cortez
I finally started that, and Invincible is next.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Nice.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. See, they're.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They're cooking right now.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, I guess this season's done, so. But they cooked.
Andy Cortez
It is already yeah, right. Chad, correct me if I'm wrong about Episodes or what. That's short as hell.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want to see like eight.
Andy Cortez
Okay, never mind.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Maybe I don't know. Story number four report Steel Rising Studio Spiders is shutting down just six weeks after the launch of GreedFall 2. This is from Wesley LeBlanc at Game Informer. Paris based developer Spiders released its latest RPG, GreedFall 2, the Dying World, just six weeks ago back in March. And it might be the studio's last game. That's because according to a new report from French outlet Origami, Spiders will soon close its doors. Origami reports its sources say the studio will shut down after Spider's publisher Nacon was unable to buy to find a buyer for the game maker. Following following a filing for insolvency last month, the publication reports that the court appointed administrator overseeing Nacon's restructuring will request Spiders liquidation before the commercial court tomorrow, a move its sources say is a mere formality at the stage. According to Google Translate's transcription of the article, within the studio, developers have been updating resumes and holding quote, self study sessions in place of working on games, according to to Origami. Really sad. One of course follows up on what we talked about last month with Nacon filing for insolvency. Sad to see some of the the results of that already taking place here.
Andy Cortez
Quite the bummer. I think it also comes down to a franchise in a game that largely looks like it, you know, regressed in quality. You know, when we look at, you know, of course not everything is about Open Critic and Metacritic, but on, you know, greedfall one had a 74, you know, pretty decent for a first entry into a franchise. GreedFall 2 went down to a 65 and or a 66. Sorry. And I think if you don't capitalize on what you know, the first game did well and try to make that a better version, I think, you know, I think largely this game not being as good quality and largely seeming to be worse, not great for your whole studio. If that's like that's what you're working on.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And these days in this day and age, you don't really, you don't have three strikes, you don't have two strikes. Sometimes, you know, and that sometimes one stinker will kind of just end it for you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Andy, we just talked about a whole lot of big news, but if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I needed to know about, where would I go?
Andy Cortez
You'd go to our last story, the WE News Channel where We cover all the small news items. You need to know about stories number
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
five, six and seven. Because me and Andy been going long because we're all yappers.
Andy Cortez
Movies.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. And so some of these bigger stories are being converted into Wii news stories, starting with story number five. Resident Evil Requiem producer says players should try to beat the game next week to prepare for dlc. This sounds though, like it's the.
Andy Cortez
Was it?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They called it a challenge.
Andy Cortez
It's a mini game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It sounds like it's the mini game that might come out. Might come out in the next couple.
Andy Cortez
I don't even know what that means. What. What does minigame mean in context of Resident Evil universe?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like a horde mode. Okay, that's what I think of. You're just mowing down enemies and they keep coming at you.
Andy Cortez
Boss rush maybe or something like that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, that'd be fun. The quote that here from Kumazawa says this mini game. Oh no, hold on. Let me rewind back. When you rewind back. Regarding the additional story dlc, all I can say is that at this stage where it's currently in full production. So please look for forward to it. That's from Nakanishi. However, development on the mini game is already in its final stages. When asked whether the mini game would be single player, he confirmed. That's right. As we've mentioned, it's a min game and it's strictly based on the battles in the main game. So there you go. Even though that doesn't explain what it is, it just says it's based off the battles in the main game. So maybe they're putting you into different scenarios.
Andy Cortez
You try to talk down the enemy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Please, please let me live.
Andy Cortez
Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That said, I think players who've cleared the main game game and are thinking I still want to go wild, we'll find these exciting and fun. So please sharpen your tomahawks and stay tuned. It sounds like you're going to be
Andy Cortez
playing as Leon in that a lot of Perry challenges.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And then they said it'll be. They. They suggested that players try to beat the game during Japan's Golden Week holiday period, which is April 29 through May 6.
Andy Cortez
Golden Week? What does that mean?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Golden Week is like a big holiday. You gotta play Persona.
Andy Cortez
That's probably.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You'll learn so much about Japan. I'm like, you don't know Golden.
Andy Cortez
We got to learn about the world.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Everybody knows you got some Persona bro. Story number six. More we news for you. But also this one's kind of sad, but also kind of follows up on the story from yesterday about Assassin's Creed Hexi losing its lead. Assassin's Creed Hexi loses 50 developers as game targets a 2027 release. This is from Tom Henderson at Insider Gaming. They go on to talk about how approximately 50 developers working on Hexi have been taken off the project as as the new Assassin's Creed leadership team makes changes. Those 50 developers have been moved from Hexi to Ubisoft's Interproject team which basically a team where they are figuring out what other projects to work on is essentially the whole idea of it. Members of the Interpro team are required to secure a project at Ubisoft within a three month period or they could face redundancy.
Andy Cortez
Yeesh. Yeah, man, do they ever got good
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
news over there like Black Flag, you know, they're remaking their game from 2013.
Andy Cortez
Oh man, that's tough. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
At the time of writing, Hexi is penciled for a June 2027 release. But sources speculate that the recent division scale back by 50 devs is an attempt to stay under budget and potentially delay the game to holiday 2027.
Andy Cortez
52 of people said that they bought DK Bonanza and beat it in the audience.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay. Hey, that's what I said. But also you guys are gamers and so that means that the real answer is 10%. Getting into the proper we news here for you from ign. The Blood of Dawn Walker has finally set its release date September 3rd, 2026. That's across PC, PS5 and Xbox.
Andy Cortez
I'm excited to see this one. Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
From Witcher devs.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Former devs.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Vampire game.
Andy Cortez
Little Vampire Game. That's definitely not, you know, trying to be anything like the Witcher in terms of scale or anything like that. Supposed to be, you know, a bit more smaller of a project, but I just like the concepts of. I love the concepts of like timed missions and stuff that you know, if you don't save that. Yeah. If you don't do that mission fast enough that that little boy will die. Poison or whatever.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Just play Persona.
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah. You learn a lot about Japan. You learn a lot.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Mind's Eyes Blacklisted update is out. Now if you don't remember, this was the update where the. The head of the studio was like we're going to explain all of what happened. All of the. I think they called espionage the corporate espionage that happened in real life at the studio. They're going to tell the story in this DLC and it's out right now.
Andy Cortez
I want to play this that I Mean, I'm sure it'll be of the highest quality with as fast of a turnover, as fast as they turned around. You know, a quick turnaround there.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I got so many questions about, oh, you can see her sneaking around. Oh, cool. Do you think they're actually shooting guns in the real life version of this? The mind's eyes suit, because I'm seeing a lot of guns here.
Andy Cortez
I see a lot of, like, verbal abuse maybe, you know, threats of. Of threats of taking away your paycheck and stuff like that. I'm just thinking, like, what would have happened in the studio? You know, quite a few mental.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Quite a few people are asking for the audible. You know, we should see stream this. Greg said he was going to stream this. Unfortunately, and I'm not making this up, Greg is out of town today because when this popped in, we were like, this is perfect. This is perfect. Like, Greg really wanted to live stream this whenever they dropped this. But he's literally out of town. He's not here. So, you know, somebody play it and report back. I don't know.
Andy Cortez
I want to know all about it. Jason Shri should play it so you can give us like the background of the.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
He can tell us what's real or not. He's like, the guns did happen.
Andy Cortez
Actually, that was an AK that wasn't an M16.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Blizzard today debuted a music video for Reward the Scars, an original new song created by Corn. Oh. The song, released alongside the new Diablo 4 expansion, Lord of Hatred, is Korn's first new music in over four years.
Andy Cortez
How much did Blizzard drop the bag for this?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah, they must have dropped a bag.
Andy Cortez
You gotta be like, if you're. If you're somebody who is laid off recently, you're just like, what?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How much do you think it costs for a new Corn song?
Andy Cortez
It's crazy to look at anybody say you haven't released music in over four years. We want something for this.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, but they're no baby, Keem.
Andy Cortez
You're right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Like, I mean, why. They're dropping maybe $200,000 for a new song.
Andy Cortez
I'm thinking of baby Corn now. Like the little small ones.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, man, I love baby, but then some stew.
Andy Cortez
I always think of the Mitch Hedberg joke where he's like, people say corn on the cob, but corn's already on the cob. It's like if you. It's like if you call me Mitch Altog.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's really good. God. This comes from the Final Fantasy Twitter account or Blue Sky. No, Twitter. Start your journey in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth today on Switch 2 and Xbox with a free demo available now. Carry your progress to the full game when it launches June 3, 2026.
Andy Cortez
Cool.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Ubisoft's mobile game, the division resurgence is coming to PC.
Andy Cortez
Whoa, whoa. Now is.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Is it out for mobile?
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Really? Yeah, that came out. Why doesn't Greg talk about this non
Andy Cortez
stop on his phone? You know, he's playing. He's playing his rock Starfield. This is exciting. That's cool though. It's really cool because this is something I will try out on PC. I wouldn't have tried it out on mobile, but this is cool.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Super cool. And then finally, playism. Game show is set for May 10th. And that is it for WE News. Let's shout out a couple of super chats as we're closing out the show here. Arrow Man 5 says spiders is Spiders Closing is a shame. GreedFall is a 7 out of 10 but had a really cool part parts or had a few really cool parts. Yeah, you always hate to eat. Like no matter what level of I guess critical reception your game receives. Always sucks to see a developer possibly shut down like this.
Andy Cortez
I have a you're wrong here from a dork who says heck, the Assassin's Creed games pronounce hexa, not hexi. It's German for which really. Damn, I didn't know that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's cool.
Andy Cortez
I just thought, you know, I thought I had just had to do what hex is or whatever.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But you know, I always. I know this isn't what it was but like. Because Assassin's Creed kind of has the digital element of being in the animus.
Andy Cortez
You thought it was hexagons?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, I thought it was like. I thought you were mixing hex and exe.
Andy Cortez
Oh, okay, I see.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What else? What else? What else? Chico23 says forced myself to beat Bonanza. Traded it in for Za after as there was no reason to go back to Bonanza after completing trading Za for Soros next. What do you mean there was no reason to go back to Bonanza after beating gonna collect all the golden bananas.
Andy Cortez
Dram with the year wrong says event is a general term used throughout the universal pictures PDF. Okay, so they're all called events. Yeah, my bad.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But. No but I like what you're thinking though because you have to get to SMASH at some point and there's also
Andy Cortez
a lot of like info dumped here that could all be wrong. But this is from Fox of the Future who lists a couple of sources and these are just like leakers. But there's a lot of, like, movie stuff here that I don't know if I necessarily want to get into in the year. Wrong.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Riley21 says, who do you cast as a villain in Far Cry?
Andy Cortez
Huh? Man, it's probably me, Jason Statham.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, see?
Andy Cortez
Oh, who's the guy with.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I feel like he's a side character that you meet halfway through the season. That helps you out.
Andy Cortez
I like that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, because we need to change.
Andy Cortez
What's this British guy doing here?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
He's like, whoa, we're in South America.
Andy Cortez
Timothy Oliphant would be cool.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Was he in?
Andy Cortez
He's in. He's got. He's got good hair.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay. I mean, good hair is a. Oh, yeah. He does look like he could be a Far Cry villain. Was he hitman 2007? Hitman?
Andy Cortez
I think he was. Yeah, he was, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You need somebody who has. Oh, I'm like. I'm looking at chat because I'm trying to see what comes up. You need Cranston would be fun, man.
Andy Cortez
I was just thinking about Bryan Cranston last night about, like, I just. Just give me a crime TV show with Cranston.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm not.
Andy Cortez
I'm not telling you to remake Breaking Bad. Just put him in a pivotal dramatic role with, like, a amazing writer.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Do you know who I would love, actually? I'm not joking? Jason Bateman as a Far Cry.
Andy Cortez
Oh, yeah, I could see that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Jason Bateman. Cause, like, if you watch the bad Christmas movie that came out, like, a year and a half ago. Half a year ago. Whatever the movie was. Right? It was the one. It wasn't even a Christmas movie, I don't think, but it came out during Christmas.
Andy Cortez
Where are we right now?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It was the one where he's in an airport and he's playing a terrorist, essentially. Where. Oh, yeah, what's his face from the Tetris movie plays a TSA agent and Jason Babin's, like, basically gets all the
Andy Cortez
information trying to get a bomb into a plane.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's trying to get a bomb into a plane and up Jason when he wants to be scary. Batman can be real scary.
Andy Cortez
It's a Christmas movie. Says big bad beluga. Oh, okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Was it a Christmas movie?
Andy Cortez
Carry on.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Carry on. There we go.
Andy Cortez
Taron Edgerton was the guy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Taron Edgerton.
Andy Cortez
He was a TSA agent, right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes. And he was in Tetris. He was really good in that. I'll do one more super chat because we're having fun here. Jason Jameson. Peter says, obviously I'm anecdotal, but I beat DK Butanes and loved it. Especially the twist at the end with the villain. Oh my God. Every single time I think about DK Benanes's ending, I get a little warm inside.
Andy Cortez
I get excited.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm like, man, video games are cool. Video games are really.
Andy Cortez
They can be cool. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know what else is cool? Gamescast. What's happening right after this?
Andy Cortez
Screencast.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Screencast. That's good. Because I was like, what the is the game's cast? Screencast. Which is happening right after this. Did you already knock out the year wrongs that we needed to?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Sick. So that was kind of funny dot com. You're wrong. And that was your super chats and that was your episode of kind of funny Games Daily. If you love what we do, support us with the kind of funny membership on Patreon or YouTube to get all of our shows ad free and get a daily exclusive show. Enjoy the screencast next and everything after. But oh, and that includes Game Showdown. Oh, yes, Screencast. Then you got Game showdown. Then you got a stream. But until next time, Game Daily. Hablask.
