So Bionic Bay. I have the Steam page opened up here, right. A scientist uses a unique teleportation instrument to escape an ancient biochemical world filled with imaginative technology, deadly traps and hidden secrets. That's a terrible description for this one.

Yeah, yeah. I have no idea what that is.

It's a 2D puzzle platformer. Think like limbo. Think like inside. Oh, but the art style is pixel art.

But it still maintains that same atmosphere that you that you expect from a puzzle platformer. Like a limit. One of the main gimmicks. I've only played about 30 minutes, 40 minutes of this video game because every video game is coming out at the same time, right. And so like I got it and I, I. The reason why I drafted it is because I've been looking forward to Bionic Bay like quite a few. Maybe about a month ago or so I did a stream where I was just looking forward to games coming out throughout the year and I saw Bionic Bay watch the trailer and I was.

This looks different. Like bear. I dropped a link in assets if you want to bring up the Steam page and like play some footage. Cuz like this is one where if you're a fan of the games that I mentioned, yeah, you should keep your eye on this. One of the main gimmicks that I've encountered early on, which might just be the main gimmick of the game, is that you can like tap objects within the world and change positions with that object. So like you'll see a big rock or something, right? You tap the rock and like an Effect will happen, and then you'll jump, and then, like, you click B and then all of a sudden you switch places with it. And so now it's you trying to figure out how to, like, you know, change positions at the right place so that you can either like, block a laser or you can dodge a thing or you can get across a chas them.

Oh, it's really cool.

And look at the art style. Like, this is what I'm talking about right here.

And you know, me and Andy, we love our survival crafting games. And this one dropped on me out of nowhere. Just browsing Twitch last night before I was about to go live and I saw Shroud playing and I was like, RuneScape has a survival crafting game? Since when? It literally dropped yesterday.

It dropped yesterday. It was like only announced like a couple months ago.

Crazy. So I bought it, bought a bunch of copies for my friends to force them to play with me because you know how I do, right? And I fell in love with it. It at the beginning, the opening. It's just like every other survival crafting games, but it has its hints of what it's going to do a little bit differently. And what I really enjoyed was it felt and looked like Valheim, but in just a smaller, different art style, which appealed more to my senses here. And I loved chopping wood, but I liked their use of magic that they got going on here. I like the small tweaks and elevation to combat. Of course, you know me, I love building a good little farmstead home and get lost in it. I'm going to siege a castle tomorrow or tonight. There's a dragon that I'm definitely going to take out of the skies here. Me and Madoc did one of the dungeons and I really liked the little 3D platforming puzzles they got going on here. I liked the monsters inside of. Felt like another good survival crafting game and it got me because I love Runescape and I like the idea of playing with 4 friends magic on that one, as you saw. I'm hyped about this, about Mario Kart World, and that's because they, it is a substantial step forward as far as the features and as far as the modes and as far as what they're doing. They're doing with this one. But with that, that brings in a lot of questions for me. The main couple of questions that I have are what, what is the full breadth of what you're doing with online? Okay, we're in a new generation now.

It's switched to online. Has to be better. And then also, I just expect, based on the fact that you are upping the amount of players that you have in a race for this thing, right, you have Knockout mode. You have these lobbies where you're kind of roaming in the open, open area. What does more of that look like as far as how online focused this game might be? Or not even online focused, but I guess what is your focus on, on online? What are you, what, what are you bringing to that experience that is going to make that special? My second thing then I am looking forward to seeing.

Let's talk about topic, because you seem to have a lot. Let's talk about online. What do you really want? Because, yeah, you bring up a couple other key factors here. You're going to increase the player size in those lobbies, right? Which gets me worried, right? I flash back to Super Smash Bros. And those lobbies going, oh, my God, the Internet connection is never good. I think of Mario Kart 8, and I've never loved the lobby system. I appreciate getting friends into a lobby, but it never felt like I had enough control to kind of dictate what I wanted us to play or how we wanted to play for you.

Because I view you as more of the, I guess, like, you probably played online on this game more than I did.

I played a lot.

I played a lot of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. But I feel like, I feel like online wasn't necessarily like my go to outside of, I don't know, maybe playing with some friends on Discord or whatever. But I, I, I assume you being snow like Mike, were you organizing tournaments? Were you organizing I think we did.

Do a Mario Kart tournament. Barrett might have won it, to be honest with you, because he's crazy. But, yeah, we definitely put them together. I liked the lobby system. I appreciated that it was easy to get friends into the lobby. But if you remember, and from what I remember, and I'm sure Bear can correct me, it was always just like a game of chance on how the races went. If you remember, we'd all kind of pick what race you wanted, and then it would randomize it. Right. And so I always wanted a little more control of, well, hey, if I have all my friends here, let me pick the Grand Prix. Let me pick the eight races that we're gonna play through here instead of kind of leaving it up to chance. I never loved that. And when I think of what I see here. Right. There's a couple other things now with the free roam stuff, where now it feels like, hey, I need my own dedicated room to say, hey, we're not bringing in 28 players. I just want four people. And we're going to choose hand by hand. And that has to happen, right?

Yeah, I think so. Right. Like, I think the fact that you have the online. On the online lobby being a, like, drive around sort of area, I don't think you're going to be in, like, the, like, you know how they had it as, like, you're looking at the planet, and then you had people. You're just sitting on a screen. Yes.

That's telling people you're using tilt.

I'm using tilt controls. You know, like, I don't expect that. I expect it to be more of a hey, we're hanging out kind of thing here. And with that. Yeah, I would hope that you have a bit more control as far as. Yeah, Like, I want it to be me and my friends fucking around, but then also being like, all right, this is the race that we're going to do and hopping in there and allowing you as the lobby leader or your party, to have full control over the way you want to play.

It will be interesting because now you add that knockout mode you brought up. Right. Bless. Is that where you do the four races and then, like, you're racing in between, but every time if you're on the backpack, you get eliminated, then the backpack again gets eliminated, and you keep going forward. So it'll be interesting to see those of, like, although it's just a quick time, like, I join this lobby, and I go, can I set that lobby up with me? And up to 24 kind of host that like these are things in 2025 that should be happening. I should have the power to do that. But knowing I don't get that power, right. I think of people like Barrett who are very good at the game. Is there going to be a ranking system? Will we ever see a ranked Mario Kart playlist here? Like, like I get that it's more of a party game and fun, but there are people like Barrett who are very good at this game. There should be a ranked moment.

Mike, before we even talked about talk about ranked. And like I know people have their very strong opinions on this but like I need a confirmation on 200cc before I even fucking think about a ranked mode. I would have if I was to do this. If I was Nintendo, all ranked mode gameplay would have two brackets. 200cc and 150. That's how I would do this, right?

You would level up and then they would be encouraged of like, hey, you're the top of the leaderboard to 150. You should be going up to 200.

Yeah, 200 is just too much. It's too much for me. Right? Like, but I agree with you. I agree with you. Like, yeah, you have two categories for ranked. 150, 200. I'm not touching 200. 200 is way too fast.

It's 2025. The multiplayer and online infrastructure of this game and setup needs to be like night and day different than what it was back in 2013. If they hit me with what we saw, Mario Kart 8, which very well could happen, I would be extremely disappointed.

I think if Nintendo is doing this the right way, you add a ranked mode. Not even for the thing of we want to support the try hards the people that are like in this competitively, but even for the people that are on the way more casual side. Ranked mode is good. I like this is a thing that I learned through playing fighting games is the fact that like hey, if you want to play people that are on your level, that's what ranked is for. Ranked is to appropriately put you at the place of people that are playing at your ranked. Right? And so like sure, that's gonna, that's gonna put people in the mode of oh, I gotta become the best Mario Karter in the world. But also that's cool. That's a. You want people to get good at your video game, but then at the same time you want people to be categorized with people that are their appropriate skill level so they're not getting frustrated when they're doing random match or quick match or whatever and then matching with the parents of the world. I mean, like this guy is amazing. He's the goats talking about. I guess more of the non online side. The general content going, what do you. Were you a Diddy Kong racing person growing up?

[Snowbike Mike]

I played a lot. I played a fair amount of Diddy Kong. I wasn't. That wasn't my choice. I would rather have 64 Mario Kart. 64.

You can choose either. I support you either way. When you see the open zone, open world kind of setup that we have going on in Mario Kart world, like, what do you want out of that experience?

I expect a lot less because out of that I would love. When I think about me and my friends, me and my crew teaming up on a night and just driving around this little open world, open zone that they're going to have, right. I want fun things to discover. I want interactability, right. I want to be able to see a UFO come and pick me up. I want to jump on the train and ride part of the train in the desert, right? Like I want moments inside of that open world that you go, wow, this was worth exploring, right? It would suck if it's just the just basic race map and nothing out of the ordinary is happening. Right. I want collectibles. I want us to pull behind a crazy cactus or jump up. There's some crazy jump in a cave off the boost. And I want there to be an unlockable cosmetic there to be there. Right. Like there are things here that I want to kind of chase and see and interact with that I expect from this. Because if it's just a stagnant world, it would be so boring.

Yeah. I mean 1000%. I when you say collectibles, right? Like my brain gets excited about what you can do with that because it could be all right, you're running into characters and you're unlocking Moo Moo the cow or whatever, or you're unlocking the skeleton fish that apparently can drive a cart, right? Like you're unlocking those random ass characters that we're seeing that they have in the game. I would also love to see. Yeah. Like what kind of carts can you unlock? One thing that's a dream for me, but that I think would be super dope. Would be if you could collect. If there was like a Mario Kart radio. And you can collect like classic Mario beats going on. Yeah. To like add to your radio station, if you're doing an open world driving game, you kind of have to have a radio.

Yeah.

If you don't have a radio, then that's kind of. That's a missed opportunity.

Well, they have great music already. Like you said, it would be interesting just to maybe just switch tracks and pick what track you're on. Cuz. Yeah, it'll be very interesting. Of like you're on this track.

Let's just call it Moomoo Meadows. And we're just exploring. Is it always just that song playing? Will it loop to something different? Cuz we're out there for 20 minutes driving around.

Like just something like that where it's like you kind of. There's more incentive to keep driving and there's things to do instead of just us. Like, all right, we're just kind of putzing around here.

I would like. I mean, different types of races. Obviously. We've already seen the knockout mode. Right. Which is really cool. And that's a longer mode. I to your point of. What if I pull up on. On Luigi? Like, what if it is a. Hey, you pull up on Luigi and it is a short race. It is. Hey, we're drag racing and you have a minute to like get to the other side of where this thing is. Like, I want to see them play with that format because they. Now they have the space to do it. Right. Before when it was. No, here's your. Here's your Grand Prix. It is four tracks and the four tracks. More traditional. Whatever. Like, I understand why you don't have that variation. I think in a mode that maybe I'm painting this too much to be like Forza Horizon or whatever. Yeah, the world loves Forza Horizon and this is your shot to do it. I love to see that kind of variety. I'll love to talk to characters I'd love to have it be a Diddy Kong racing.

I'm sure the Chat or Barrett can correct me, but do you know how many people are allowed in the free roam?

How many of my friends can gather with me to go and do free roam? Because I, I don't expect 24, but I would love more than four. Right. Like, well, I do think we all have these friend groups of like eight people. Would be pretty sweet to drive around in this open world kind of hangout format. See, I like to see that.

That's where I, I start to wonder how they, how they do it. Where I think when you're driving around with your friends, that's a lobby mode. I don't think you're gonna have the like collectibles and missions and stuff like that. I think you'll get.

Yeah, but I know, but I think that they save that stuff for single player. Oh, I think that's just how you lobby up and hang out. But then like the purpose there is to usher you into whatever race you want to do. I think single player is where you're running into Luigi and being like, yo, let's drag race.

I mean, I, I like the open stuff. Are there racers that I don't know about? Bless right now that we start to get into tracks and characters. Right. I really love Moomoo Meadows. I want to know more about Moomoo and like what are the, the cars and the kits and the characters now that they got costumes, can we show off those. What are all the tracks? Right. Like, did you see anything that stood out to you when you played it that was like, oh, Mike, you're gonna love this. Or was it the traditional choose the wheels, choose the cart?

Well, no, here's the thing that stood out to me is that it wasn't choose the wheels, choose the cart, choose the glider. It was just straight up choose a cartoon. Like it was. You choose your character and then they have like a bunch of different like already made carts that you're choosing or you're not.

I do like that because I, I felt like I was always behind same because I didn't know the meta or I didn't understand and I would always be choosing maybe the wrong three pack there.

I love that blast. I mean, with 24 people, you could make a fun arena battle royale type mode right there on that. So I love that idea. Bless.

You know what I really liked battle mode, I guess more maps. I want it to be something that more people want to play play. So like when we talk about the online things, have a nice tile that says battle mode and encourage me to jump into it. I think a fun 24 player battle royale, last one standing is an easy way to get people to understand battle mode and jump right in and have fun. I would like to make sure that my personal lobbies I can play up to eight or even 24 people in a battle mode. That would be dope. But yeah, more the three balloons popping one by one. Right. Cool arenas is what I need.

Microsoft has confirmed a series of Doom the Dark Ages Xbox accessories, including two controllers and a console wrap. It was previously reported that a special edition Xbox wireless controller based on the game would be released imminently. Now Microsoft has confirmed that a Doom the Dark Ages Xbox wireless controller and Series X console wrap are available now and that an Xbox Elite Series 2 controller themed after the game will be released next month.

These very much feel like, hey, the raps are like, there's a couple of them, but there's not too many where you get upset if you miss any right now, which I like.

I really loved trying to be that phone gamer that you see. Greg, I think do a lot of like redeeming codes on his laptop Then he's redeeming codes on his phone or he's downloading games on his phone. At one point I thought I was going to be that, but I've really not done that. I find that I spend a lot of my time browsing the store, buying stuff, downloading just on the console when I'm at home. Right. I rarely use the phone nowadays, but back in the day, that's what I wanted, right. I wanted more power on the phone app to be able to say, hey, this is the companion app that I can do anything that I want. Interesting stuff, the buying power, right? When you think about what we just went through with Fortnite and Apple and Xbox, holding back the cloud because you couldn't buy stuff with Apple because they wanted a piece of it. But then we had to fight them in the court of law. Now here we are buying stuff. Very interesting of, like, where we are today. I like that. Yeah.

I think I lean towards the Greg side of, like, how much I use my phone or even my computer at my desk to like, redeem codes or buy things or scroll through things, right. Like, somebody tells me about a game right now and I'm just like hanging out at a bar or whatever. I'll go. Yeah. And I love, I love where we're at with that stuff. I'm actually surprised as I saw this story. I was surprised that these weren't already functions for the Xbox Store. So I think that's really good that they got that in there because that is just ushering us to the future. And then streaming games, of course, like, let's go for the games that you own. Let's. I think that's the big jump as far as, like, what we want out of where Xbox is going.

That's that equal anywhere we talk about, right? Like, we're getting closer and closer and the ecosystem is truly live and happening right now. But the cool part is, like, we're living this new movement of their Xbox play anywhere. Everything's an Xbox ecosystem mindset where it's like, it's wild to be in the moment and seeing these small steps where you go, man, I thought that should have already been happening. Or like, it's crazy. We're here now because, yeah, it's. It's all happening now. In 10 years from now, we'll look back and go, man, that was crazy that back in the day, I. Yeah story number four Destiny 2 the Edge of Fate reveal is has been announced for next month. This is Ms. News. Yesterday I saw it and then immediately it left my brain to add this to KMT and so I made sure to get it in there today. This is from land Pitts at GameSpot. It's been quite the year for Destiny players and the game's evolution continues with the latest chapter dubbed the Edge of Fate getting revealed soon. No details were given outside of the reveal being a special live stream event on May 6th starting at 9am Pacific time quote developers will discuss the first expansion, the Edge of Fate and much more during the event, Bungie said in a statement. With the events of the Final Shape having major repercussions for your guardian as well as the vanguard, it feels like all bets are off when it comes to the story. How the story is structured is something else. Following the launch of the Final Shape last year, Bungie announced changes to how it planned to deliver content, switching from seasons to episodes, while also announcing the future of Destiny 2 as codename Frontiers. Starting with Destiny the Edge of Fate, the game will get two expansions with four major updates per year. Fans have been eager to know specifics regarding what's Next for Destiny 2, as the episodic content has now come to a close and any sort of schedule have remained a mystery. This latest expansion for Destiny 2 is expected to be what was given the codename Apollo, per the roadmap Bungie released back in September, Apollo was scheduled to release sometime in summer 2025. Apollo is planned to be a paid expansion with new stories, locations, missions and more. However, it won't be the only update coming to the game. Bungie is also planning another full expansion called behemoth for winter 2025, which will also have the two major updates leading into spring of next year. Mike as somebody from the outside looking in of Destiny 2, I haven't played much Destiny 2 outside of like I played a lot at launch. Like I played like 80 hours at launch and then like I'll peek in for expansions here and there, but then I'll drop off because like I don't know. I. It's. We're too deep in the well, you know what I mean? Like the, the game's. The game's too advanced now, the plot's too deep. I'm like, I don't know where I'm at. I don't know who these people are. I'm Scared. I thought it was done. I thought the final sheep was the.

Final thing, a blessing. As someone who is a very lapsed player, I put a lot of time into Destiny 1 and I really fell off in Destiny 2. I came back for the latest two expansions and I as well thought it was done, but I was misinformed. I believe that is the end of maybe the big story they were trying to tell.

Right. What are the new stories they'll tell? What is this new moving from episodic to maybe non seasonal. What is. The content drops. Right. Like, it's interesting to see these live service games kind of step away from seasons in their later years of like, hey, we really stuck to that rigid structure of giving you an expansion once a year, every two years. We're going to slow that down and do something different because we don't quite know where we want to go and we want to have the freedom to give it to you when it's ready. And so what is that? I think a big boost in player base is always when you drop these expansions for Destiny. So it'll get people back, it'll get people excited. Those regular players will be give them something new to play. But remember, Bless, it's never too deep. You can jump back in. It's very welcoming. You'll learn all the systems.
