B
Oh yay, Junior I'm not realizing.
A
I just noticed you were in the X cast sweater.
B
Oh, yeah. I mean, this is kind of we're having. And I'm realizing how appropriate the Halloween intro for KHD is this week because it's just been Spooky Xbox News.
A
Spooky Xbox News.
B
Spooky Xbox News.
A
Yeah. Yeah. We were having quite the time here, looking at the live chats, reacting to the fourth. Fourth headline of bad Xbox News in a row.
B
Yeah. And it's like it's. It's the. It's the tough thing where earlier in the week we had some slower news days. And so it's like, okay, well, Sarah Bond says a thing that just ends up being story number one. Because it's the biggest thing. It's the biggest thing to talk about. Here we have one that is legitimately like, oh, all right. Fuck. This is really a story number one. Like I was telling Roger, like I was like, today's the day of. There's three different story number ones today. It's a big news day.
A
I love that.
B
But somehow Xbox has two out of the three.
A
I love that. And they're really good ones to talk about. We'll do that in a second. For now. Yes. How are you?
B
I'm doing good. How are you doing good.
A
You have a good night? What you get into? What happened?
B
What did I do? I streamed some Hades 2 last night.
A
I love that.
B
And I think that was. I watched Gen V. I had a very boring night last night.
A
Okay.
B
This is me playing games, working on out of Rules two.
A
Yeah, we say that now.
B
Yeah, I'm playing out of Worlds too. I. I'm sad because I didn't finish it.
A
Yeah, yeah, it's always a bummer when you get to the review and you didn't write.
B
Yeah. And I've been on a roll, you know what I mean? Like we did like 3, 4, 3, 4 different reviews where I was able.
A
To guide Dispatch keeper, World keeper.
B
That was. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And like. And I feel like there's one more. Maybe there's just.
A
It's review season, it's review season.
B
But yeah, I've been like keeping up with it pretty well and then. Yeah, Auto Worlds 2 is the one that broke me.
A
I got you covered.
B
We're going to have a good conversation.
A
I got lots to say and I rolled credit, so don't worry about that. That is the gamescast today. Similarly. Yeah, last night I played more Outer Worlds 2. Got some screenshots ready for stuff we're talking about here. Got some notes together since it's such a big game. But most importantly, the thing I wanna tell you and the thing I wanna tell you and this is they have sponsored us in the past. They're not sponsoring right now, so don't worry about it. Nvidia GeForce Now. I've been talking about this a lot. Me and Andy did a stream. I am not even a convert. I'm already a believer. I use it. I was using it on my Rog Ally, period, let alone now my Xbox Rog Ally. Right. Used it on my Mac. I've used it on the computer. Like I've used it right yesterday on PSI or Yesterday on our Gamescast. That was a spiritual successor to P.S. i love UXOXO. We had a long talk about convenience and where we're at and et cetera, et cetera. And I opened up Nvidia GeForce now during it, right? And was like, oh man, vampire. The Masquerade Bloodlines 2 is here and I'd rather play it with the. So I'm gonna. I am going to re. Pick up the PC save rather than the PlayStation save. Yeah, yeah. I was closing down Outer Worlds last night. I'm like, all right, I'm ready for this review. I'm also tired, but I'm like, you know what? I'm real quick. I want to get Nvidia GeForce now running on the TV. I've heard about this. I haven't done it. I, you know, I go there. My LGs like, Do you have an LG account? I'm like, I think so. It's like you don't like, ah, whatever. I finally, I get all that done. Get Nvidia GeForce in. Then I'm like, how do you. I had to Google, how do you sync a Bluetooth controller to a. To the LG TVs. Yeah. They gave me the breakdown. I went and did Super Simple. I could have figured it out, but I just want. I was too tired. I want to go to bed. Sync the controller. I'm like, well, now I just got to try it.
B
Yeah.
A
And I booted up vampire, the masquerade, bloodlines 2. This is not a promotion for that game, which I'm very excited to eventually talk about when I play more, but. Holy fucking shit. It actually worked.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
Like, I. I know it works on the handheld. I know it works on the PCs and the computers on my weird. Not my weird, but a tv. Like, no processing power or whatever. Is this. Actually, I went in there and I was like, oh, man. Kind of looks shadowy and janky. And I was like, oh, wait, it's running off my Steam Deck settings, because that's where I left off. I go in and I'm like, auto detect. It just goes ultra, ultra, ultra, ultra, ultra. Everything's ultra. And I came back and I was like, holy. Yeah, I think this is insane.
B
I mentioned it. I believe on gamescast yesterday that I'm just not a cloud streaming person. This is not the way that I like to play video games. Nvidia GeForce now is the one where I'm like, okay, this is the best experience I had out of all of them, and I've only used it a little bit. I'm not like, dovin. Diving deep into. Deep into the Nvidia GeForce now world yet.
A
Yeah.
B
But so far, the times that I've turned it on, I've been pretty impressed by how I use it on my Steam Deck. And I'm like, oh, all right. This is actually a better way for. If a game doesn't run the way I want it to on my Steam Deck, this will actually get it to run better. I mean, not run better, but you get what I mean.
A
Like, I'm right there. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. That's the conversation, if you missed gamescast yesterday, about Vampire, where it's like, I couldn't get it to run on my actual laptop because of whatever weird settings wrong. And so I was like, okay, I'll play it on the Rog. And then I was like, it doesn't look that hot. So that's when I went back to PlayStation.
B
Yeah.
A
But now that I can just do the Nvidia thing, I'm just gonna do that so I can play it on the couch and be a goof.
B
Hell yeah. Look at you. Step into the future.
A
You know how it is.
B
You're a different kind of gamer now.
A
I've been living there, man. I've been living in the future a long time. Just like when I called out that Pokemon tail stuff. Remember that? Yeah. I told Ben about how impressed you were.
B
Yeah, I was super impressed.
A
He's a different Pokemon fan. Number one Pokemon fan. But enough about me. It's time to talk about the nerdy news you need to know about. The amount of times I try to. I try to text Nick and I start texting Nick Scarpino from Portillo's and not because I put Nick into Santa so I can threaten Ben with Santa. It's a whole thing.
B
You're texting the Nick Scarpinos from Portillo's being like, yo, Ben needs a Christmas like gift. Or something like that?
A
No, no, the opposite. Oh, I did it recently where Roger, Mike and Nick went to Starbucks and I texted all three of them on the chain. I'm like, hey, pick me up a thing. And Nick Scarpino from Chicago, Illinois, who was actually the CEO of Giordano's now. I was like, hey, wrong, Nick. And I'm sorry, Nick.
B
What a career.
A
I know. Insane, right? Of course, if you have no bucks, toss away. No big deal. Like subscribe, share, ring the bell, tell your friends. And of course, if you have Amazon prime, you have Twitch Prime, a free subscription to give away each and every 30 days. Why not give it to us? B
One man's trash is another man's treasure.
A
Exactly. Exactly.
B
And listen, y' all love clicking on the Xbox headlines, apparently.
A
I mean, that's what the news is.
B
I mean, it is like. I want to be clear. It's not like we're manufacturing this shit. You know what I mean? It's not me digging into like. All right, what Xbox shit can we talk about today? They're handing it to us on a silver platter. Sarah Bond.
A
Hope they do something good tonight so that tomorrow's can be a positive Xbox headline to end the week. I digress. Of course.
B
That's her birthday party.
A
Story number one, Housekeeping for you. Of course. This Friday, Mike and Roger, two best friends, will be locked in a room and attempt to complete Silent Hill F while sharing a controller while also being handcuffed. Will they rise to the task or will they break? The longer you support, the longer they'll play. Come support the madness this Friday. That's tomorrow. Exclusively on Twitch. Right after game showdown. Of course. While we're here, I'm just gonna toss this in. Tomorrow is a interesting day because of that stream. It starts today. There is gameplay stream this afternoon because we need to get everything ready for the Roger and Mike insanity. Then tomorrow you get kind of funny games showdown or I'm sorry, kind of funny Games Daily followed by kind of funny game showdown, then into the stream. And then while the stream is live, a very special gamescast will post. Of course, today we are all about live programming. Like I said right after this is the Gamescast the Outer Worlds 2 review. I talked about it just at the top of Greg way. I am ready. So ready. So excited. I am just. The cork is in me and I'm ready for Andy to remove the cork.
B
Wow.
A
And let me blow all over his face.
B
I can't wait to talk about this because I need you already gave your preview on the social thing.
A
Very top level and very.
B
I think what I.
C
And I'll.
B
I'll spoil mine a little bit because there's so much to talk about. So, like, I don't think our like, you know, top level impressions are going to be the main thing. Right. I need you to show me like the good shit or like I need you to, I guess, help me understand more.
A
Yeah.
B
Because I'm halfway through this game. I'm 17 hours in.
A
Yeah.
B
And I'm not having a bad time by any means. But I'm also not like I got you. I'm not all the way I got you.
A
I mean I don't. For the record, it's not a 10 out of 10. So I'm not like, oh, coming out with that flag, but I got things to say to you. Yeah. So. Oh, then after that it's gonna be after games cast is Pixar's Elio interview.
B
I don't know actually, I never watched this one.
A
No, nobody did. That's the problem.
B
Yeah, sure.
A
This interview is going to do traffic. You know, you don't want to waste everybody's time. Why aren't we just reviewing more Superhero Here we go.
B
We kick the we we cancel interview. We we start up an Xbox show. There's always going to be Xbox people.

B
Out of context of me. Here's your employee here in that in the middle of a show. Oh, okay.
A
Start packing your bags. That seems like a heavy context me an offer. Of course. Let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. Time for some new six items on the Rope Report.
B
Baker's Dozer.

Number one Microsoft Pushes Xbox Division to Hit Higher Profit Margins this is Jason Schreier and Dina Base over at Bloomberg. Microsoft is asking its Xbox gaming division to produce profit margins that are well above the industry average, ratcheting up pressure on its video game maker during a difficult time in the field at large. Over the past two years, executives at the Seattle based software giant have set across the board goals of 30% quote accountability margins, a term Microsoft uses in lieu of profit margins, according to people familiar with the business. The gaming division, which includes dozens of studios, has responded by canceling products, raising prices and slashing thousands of jobs, said the people who asked not to be identified discussing non public information. The average profit margin in the video game industry in recent years has ranged between 17% and 22%, according to estimates from S and P Global Market Intelligence, while coming in between 10% and 20% over the past six years at Xbox. Court documents from 2023 revealed that Microsoft's gaming business had a 12% profit margin for the first nine months of the company's 2022 fiscal year. The new goal, which hasn't been previously reported, is at the outer range of what a gaming studio can typically reach in a boom year, said Neil Barbour, an analyst with S and P global quote. A 30% or better margin is usually reserved for a publisher that is really nailing it, he said. In the past, game makers at Xbox weren't asked to hit specific numerical targets, said the people, and were largely told to focus on making the best games possible without worrying too much about finances. The new target was implemented in fall 2023 by Microsoft chief Financial Officer Amy Hood, whose team has taken a larger role in the gaming business in recent years.
B
Fall 2023 what was going on in fall 2023?
A
Nothing. No, no. You know, nobody's buying nothing. There's no lawsuits.
B
That's interesting timing.
A
That's weird. The change has impacted strategies under Microsoft gaming chief Phil Spencer, as the division has looked for new ways to cut costs and boost profits. In 2024, Xbox announced it would begin releasing the majority of its games on consoles from rivals Nintendo Co and Sony Group Core for the first time. Earlier this year, Xbox decided to cancel a number of costly projects, including Everwild, Perfect Dark and Project Blackbird, all of which had been in development for more than seven years. Not every project is expected to hit the 30% profit threshold, said the people, but many Xbox developers and groups have been presented with the new target moving forward, games that are either cheap to make or deemed more likely to generate significant revenue windfalls may take priority over riskier bets, said the people. While Xbox's floundering hardware division may face a significant rethinking, Xbox's best hope for a blockbuster game in recent years was 2021's Halo Infinite, the latest entry in its most vital franchise. Despite some early accolades, the game was ultimately seen as a failure and led to a complete overhaul of the studio behind it. Later this week, Microsoft will announce a new Halo release in attempt to resuscitate the franchise.
B
Is that last part like a scoop or is that something that we know? Is that something that was like announced?
A
I do believe that's a scoop.
B
That's crazy, right?
A
I think there had been rumors. Chat, let me know.
B
We, well, we speculated about this, I want to say a week or two ago because there's the Halo.
A
It's been rumored.
B
Chat, what's the thing that's happening? I think tomorrow the championship thing where they, the Halo studio said stay tuned, we have news essentially, but that's what.
A
I remember it as. But Chat here is acting like it's not that big of a deal. They're just all saying it's Rumors.
B
Rumors. Okay, say Jason Stryer. Thank you. Halo. Halo World Championships. Yeah, that's happening this weekend.
A
And so when he says later this week announcement there. Okay, cool.
B
Where do we start with this? I feel like, I mean where we.
A
Start is by dropping the fucking banner. Of course that we were right. This is what we've been saying for fucking ever of everything's great until Microsoft says, what the fuck is going on? Why are you not making money? Then there's the other part that we come back to which speaks a little bit to my Greg way of like would we ever sell? Kind of funny, right? Where it's like the fucking God damn shareholders, they can't be helpy with healthy, happy with 12% profit. It's double digit profit. Just shut up and let them make games and you see what you've lost, right? As you read through the story and you get to the thing of like previously this hadn't been a thing. They were just told to make good games. What a fucking nice time that was.
B
Oh yeah.
A
What a great thing it was when people entered into a space and were like, we know this is not going to make 50% profit. Let's just make cool shit and get an audience. Like we're talking about PlayStation not having necessarily an audience audience like it used to back in the PS three days. You talk about fucking Xbox in the same boat of like what is their identity with their crew and stuff like that. And then you get here and it's like, wow, what a shock that fucking corporate overlords fucked this whole thing up. And again, maybe it wouldn't have been a success, whatever. But we're talking to the fact of like you go through and read all this and we've seen basically schizophrenia from fucking Microsoft. Oh yeah. Where they can't make up their mind on what they're going to do. But. And why not? Because somebody's fucking yanking the reins of them every time.
B
It's Microsoft, the corporation, right? It's Phil Spencer wanted to do a certain thing for a number, number of years. Satya Nadella looking at it and being like, oh what the fuck? AMY HOOD the CFO looking at it being like, no, we need 30%, not even profit margins accountability.
A
Margins, right? Like you need a margin and I like that they it's not profit margin accountability.
B
We don't want to make. We want to make sure that we're doing so well that like 30 is the thing when most of the things.
A
There's a phrase from the outer worlds too. I want to throw out here. Right. But I won't because I don't want to spoil stuff.
B
And one thing that we've talked about before, not even related to this, but just in video games in general, is when big companies come into the gaming ecosystem thinking that, oh, making video games gonna be easy. If you want to make a game console or a game platform, we can do it. Amazon, we can do it. Google, we can, we can make stadia, make it happen, all that shit. So fucking easy. It's wild to see that Microsoft, a company that's been in the video games business since the top of the century. Century, millennium, century, since 2000. A company that's been around so long doing this shit, is seemingly stepping on the same rakes as I would expect an Amazon or a Google or anybody else who might not understand what they're doing.
A
This is the problem with. I saw it go through, but it's true. Just fucking corporate greed that nothing is good enough for these fucking ships. They don't care. Nobody cares about what the product they're making. They care about the profit margin. And I know that we're so far out of the station on this and I know the entire world is fucked and I know there's way better examples of how horrible things. But it's just like you look at this erosion where again, it's what we've been saying on this show forever of like, I do believe in Phil Spencer having a good head on his shoulders and a good vision for it, but when it's fucking the corporate overlord stepping on your shoulders.
B
Yeah.
A
And being like this. And we're going to get to Sarah Bond's thing and it's like, okay, cool. Do you believe that Sarah Bond or is that what you're saying because of the pivots you've had to make to get to this point.
B
Can I bring in story number two?
A
I'd love you to bring in story number two.
B
So story number two is exclusive games are antiquated. Xbox president says this is another Sarah Bond quote from the string of Sarah Bond quotes we begin this week. This one also from Mashable, which is the one yesterday was also Mashable.
A
So it's all God's work out there. Congratulations.
B
It's from Eddie at Gamespot. The idea of exclusive games in 2025 is antiquated according to Xbox president Sarah Bond. She said in a new interview that people are beginning to evolve way past the idea that a game should exclusive to one store or device. Quote, the biggest games in the world are available everywhere. You look at Call of Duty, you look at Minecraft, you look at Fortnite, you look at Roblox. That's actually what's really driving community and gaming. That's where people gather. And the idea of locking it to one store or one device is antiquated for most people. She told Mashable, quote, you want to be able to play with your friends anywhere, regardless of what they're. They're on. And we're really leaning into that with this experience with the. With the Rog, Ally X. It just opens up another way for you to play, as does Cloud, as does PC, as do the consoles. We all, we all have in the living room, she added wider context. I imagine that all these Sarah Bond quotes are coming from the Rog.
A
We did an interview with you about the Rog.
B
Yeah, like, it was from Matchable. I think Variety was one of the other ones. I'm. They're just sending Sarah Bond around to talk to people about Rog and we're getting all these headlines from that, essentially. But. So go for it.
A
Go for it. What I'd like to call out here real quick before we all rise up with pitchforks in. In. In Torches.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
You know, is that the headline? Not clickbaity, but very like, oh, man, fuck PlayStation. And then you read the quote, like, oh, well, she's making a point here of like these kind of games. Call of Duty, Minecraft, you know, like, she's not saying, okay, okay, but it's like that's gonna be lost in the wider range of it.
B
Oh, sure, that's funny. I wasn't even thinking about, like, the PlayStation, Nintendo even.
A
Even being done with Exclusive.
B
Yeah, yeah.
A
I think I feel like the way she's presenting it is going to be applied to, yeah, Keeper and Halo and everything. But it's like. I don't know if exactly that's what she was talking about, but I mean, it is exclusives, it is zing. And they have moved away from it, so whatever.
B
Yeah, I think even more so, though, like on all platforms, to the question of, like the context of exclusives being antiquated. I think they're antiquated for Xbox. Right. Because you need to make 30% profit, Mario, whatever the fuck you're calling them accountability margins.
A
We're calling them profit margins.
B
We'll call them profit margins. You need to make 30% profit margins. So fuck. Yeah. These things are going to be antiquated for you because you can't do that on your own platform. You have to put these games on PlayStation. You got to put them on it. I know you've been putting them on PC, right? But you got to put them anywhere they might find that because you're in a place where you're having to. Fucking nickel and dime isn't the right word. But I guess, like. I guess look at your catalog and be like, fuck. All right. What even has the ability to do what they're asking for us? Soft cancel Perfect Dark, because we're pouring money into that, because we're looking at that as being the next quadruple a thing. And that's just not a good, good bet for us right now. Cancel Everwild, because that's been in. Develop in development and focus on these smaller games and put them everywhere. Because we're just trying to do whatever we can to. In order to get there, in order to get as much money as possible, which is business. I'm not, like, mad at that from the Xbox side. I think I'm more so frustrated from the schizophrenia that you talk about between Xbox and Microsoft and how it feels like people have different visions for what they want to do with this thing now, resulting in a bunch of games getting canceled and a bunch of studios being closed and a bunch of, like, what feels like just pure chaos from this.
A
Yeah, you summed it up pretty well of just where we're at with this and what's going on. And it's like, it's such a different set of circumstances, but it's going to be or could be the same folly as Xbox One, where when Xbox One came, tv, tv, dv, Call of Duty, Call of Duty, Connect in the box, and everybody's. And always online, everybody's like, we fucking hate this. Fuck you. And they're like, oh, sorry, we'll change it. I'll do it. Oh, so you have no vision for what you're doing?
B
Yeah.
A
And so here we are where it's like, Xbox is saying these things, but it's so hard to get people behind that message when they see things changing, when they hear this, like, okay, cool. So, like, ever Wild. Was that not a good game or was it just not? What, it's canceled because it spent so much money. Like, Perfect Dark. Okay, but was it off track or was it this and that? Or was it just this 30% thing? Where it is you got to make these hard choices to do that just to get like, you know, you dump these studios and immediately the line goes up and that's what you need. And you.
B
I mean, I'm taking that just from the Article, Right. Like every.
A
Oh, no, I'm not questioning you. Yeah. As much as like questioning where we're going with this and what we're pulling from it.
B
I guess what I then wonder is what does this mean as far as the future of software development at Xbox? Right. Do we consider. Do we. Because I think this year has actually been a great year. I mean, I was going to say a good example of the small game thing. Right. Because I've had this feeling with Xbox this year. Not that it. Like I would never say this year is a bad year for Xbox software.
A
No.
B
But also I'm not looking at any of these games as like a. Oh, damn. This is system seller. System seller. This is a contender, like keeper for me is like a personal contender. But I don't think that's going to be nominated for game of the year at the game awards. But I love that game. But I think that speaks to the type of games that they're making. It is the keepers. It is the south of midnights. It is. I mean, even publishing a Ninja Gaian 4 that's coming out. Right. Like Outer Worlds 2, we're going to talk about. That's another one that's like, that's not the biggest game, but that's something that. That's going to feed that sect of the audience. I think this year has been sort of an example of maybe what the Xbox ethos evolves into because of this and what the article is kind of talking about as far as focusing in on things that might not have. Have as high of a budget and be able to kind of meet that margin because we're able to come in at a lower cost for it. What does that do for the games that we're expecting? Like, are you able to make a halo? That is.
A
That's where I think you jump into. And I'm trying to find the quote, but there's so many great reporting from Jason and Dina here and of course there's more to read on Bloomberg. I read the whole thing this morning brushing my teeth. I know in here somewhere they're talking about basically going for big games that'll have big returns or smaller experiences that'll do the thing, right? Yeah. Let me tell you how that's going to net out, right? It's going to net out with double fine closing and them going away from these smaller experiences, period. Straight up. Like, this is not. When you go into this situation, they are saying through this messaging with, you know, not code. This is, you know, being people talking off the record. Or whatever, you know, on background you're having this conversation and when you read between the lines it's everything we've heard from everybody else of like we're going to go to these tent pole things. We are going what was it from the one. We're going to not abuse these known IPs.
B
But we're Lord of the Rings. We're going to exploit Lord of the.
A
We're going to exploit this known ip. Right. So it's the whole idea here is imagine. I would imagine that right now the idea goes okay, cool, stop. Make a small thing. You can get out really quickly. And I don't know if that means like something like avowed to. If we're going to. You know what I mean? If we're going to go that way. I don't know how that did. Or like south of Midnight Ground to. Yeah like those games like that are like not the. Hey, this is a system seller. Even though that doesn't exist anymore, I don't think. And then also then yeah. Gears, Halo, Call of Duty, Fallout. Like I think that's where you are all of a sudden. Where it's like if you aren't those brands, you are fucked. I would imagine or. And maybe I'm immediately those brains even.
B
Not counting Call of Duty because I don't know Call. Because Call of Duty is like the best selling thing ever. Do those brains that we're talking about hit the 30% margin that we're talking about? Like we're talking next year.
A
Fallout.
B
Yeah, next year you think Fallout does.
A
Yeah, especially off and I mean right now, by the way they are doing the Fallout Day live. Stre hoping after the break to have a report on that and tell you what exactly is being I've seen stuff go through. Apparently there's a new Vegas 15 year edition or 15th anniversary edition. Updates to 76. The stuff you'd imagine or whatever. I think. Yeah. Especially with the show.
B
Yeah.
A
And I think that's when you would lean into let's exploit Fallout. Bethesda. We're glad you're here. We're glad you're working on the next Elder Scrolls. We're glad you're working on Fallout 6 while you do that. Obsidian, you are done with your stuff. You are now making New Vegas 2. Go make a New Vegas 2 and get it quick. Right? Like I feel like that's where you turn and you go okay, let's turn and burn. And that's both good for us who want these kind of RPGs. But then maybe bad in terms of what they'd be. But, you know, I mean, jumping off, like, it could be good, it could be bad, it could be whatever. Who the fuck knows what's going on? It's just this idea of like, I think I get scared if you aren't those big things. If I'm compulsion, I'm scared. If I'm double, fine, I'm scared.
B
What's interesting is I get the reverse. I'm scared if you are the big things. Because I think the big things need to be the biggest things now. Like, I. Obviously profit margin is a hard thing to kind of speculate on because a lot of video game budgets are kept secret. And so, like, to look at that versus profit for a lot of us, we just don't know. But, like, I look at next year. Next year, I think for Xbox is the antithesis to this year, where this year I'm talking about the South Midnights and all that stuff, right? Next year they're talking about Fable, Gears, they're talking about Forza in Tokyo, they're talking about Halo. That's. That's announced this weekend, right? And ends up being next year. Those are the big dogs from Xbox. How many of those big dogs are going to hit the profit margins that they're talking about here? I think even a Fallout, like, I wonder if that's hitting that profit margin, mainly because Fallout's so expensive to make. Like, when you. When you. When you end up being that expensive to make, does that. Does Xbox look at that.
A
Under these new things, I think you get to. For a Fallout, I think you hit the profit margin, especially on the heels of the show where you have this audience now that's more than ever excited about Fallout. And I think you look at it that way too, where it's a transmedia property. Like, it's not just the game we're worried about anymore. I think we'll see. I just worry about, like, I look at a Keeper and like, keeper is now that we're closed with the outer worlds too. I have like a choose your own adventure for I think a week and a half before the next review comes in. And it's like, what do I want to try to invest my time in? And you guys talking the way you talked about keepers pushed it way up my list of I have to get in there. But I think I look at Keeper and I'm like, I saw fuck Steam, DB No. Well, yeah, but it was. Maybe it was one of the newsletters I subscribed to yesterday talking about, oh, the Wishlist thing you put out is that in here the new Steam Wishlist.
B
Thing with some WE news.
A
The, the insert of that paragraph that that article was talking about. Like hey, like there's this new thing from Steam that's a calendar to make your wish list more manageable. And it was like. But the lead in was like hey, Keeper came out and it seems like nobody fucking knows about it based on Steam D numbers. And it's like you hear that and you think about it and that's where I'm like, I can't imagine that game's making 30% accountability margins.
B
That's the thing. That's the thing. Like I think that's almost a separate conversation of just Double Fine and it's the same conversation that we have about Media molecule on the PlayStation side of.
A
Yes.
B
Double Fine isn't a studio you own because you want them to make you money. Like you own that studio because you're like make art. Like go and do your thing. Be free. I think if my wish for Double Fine would be for them to go independent and like find something there.
A
But here's my point. You just nailed it. This is a studio you buy that you don't expect to make money. And that's why they bought it on June 9, 2019. Yeah, 2019. Four years before. Apparently Microsoft's like yo, stop fucking around. And so I think again Phil and that team bought this studio when they were. We are going to be Xbox and we are going to use our double digit profits to fund amazing games and have this awesome lineup for Game Pass. And this is the future and we're going to outdo Sony at having these first party studios.
B
Yeah.
A
And I think Microsoft looked at them and let them buy Activision and is like cool. You have the golden goose now. All these other ducklings, I don't care about them.
B
Yeah. I think the thing that gives me a bit of faith into the protection of Double Fine is just the fact that I don't think obviously again, we don't know budgets. I don't get the vibe that Keeper cost an arm and a leg to make. Like very true. That's a six hour game that I played. Right. Like it is mechanically. It's not really doing that much.
A
Right.
B
Like there's no voice acting in it and I, we, me and Mike got to go to Double find the studio and they have like really cool shit in there. But it's not like a, like I've been to studios that are way fan.
A
Oh yeah, yeah.
B
Like Double Fine. I don't think is. I think they can kind of swim under the radar is what My concern.
A
With it all is that when you start cutting like this and okay, we canceled Perfect, Dark and ever wild, etc. To get to this, to get closer to 30%, we're making the things. We're making the hardware more expensive, whatever. That's all well and good. What about next time, next year when Fable does underperform or Gears does underperform, or da, da, da, you know what I mean? And it's like, all right, cool. Make cuts again. And then it's like, well, fuck all right. Well, I mean, like, clearly I. You know, we know, like, this is me prognosticating in a horrible fucking future. I hate. But like to sit there and be like, well, I know Double Fine is never going to make a game that double. That gets 30%. And I know that every game needs to. But stick with me for the argument. But I. So, but. But like, I'm to the point of. It's like them and it's Compulsion versus Bethesda, which does have the. You have to wait and you have to do this. But if we exploit the IP and give it to other studios, like, I know they can do it. I feel like that's when you're like, you start cutting.
B
I don't. I just don't think it's between those. Right.
A
I think. I hope not. I hope not.
B
Like, Xbox owns so many studios now that, like, if we look at a list and this would be a terrible list to do. So I never want to do this right. But, like, who we sentenced to death.
A
I could, if I needed to close studio.
B
I feel like you could probably make a. Of like, I. I was gonna say Call of Duty support studios, but I guess not even those. Right. Because you what It. It is such a balancing act of who's doing what and what is like, where can he cut costs in ways that people won't notice. Double Fine, I think has the thing of cool. They put out Keeper. So many people don't know even that Keeper even exists. But also they can give you another psychonauts 3 and that's something that's in the game of the year conversations and something that I'm sure will sell fine and might not hit that 30%, but I also don't think it'll cost as much as a Fable or Forza or any of that other shit that Microsoft even cares that much.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
B
But also this is. This is me speaking on my ass.
A
Bringing us some super chats. Before we transition to some other part of the show. Motorworld hype super chats and says Blessing is cooking right now. I've been under similar mandates and it is not great to say the least. I'm concerned about the effect the Xbox situation will have on the games industry as a whole. Programmer Sid says Microsoft reported over $100 billion in the last fiscal year and somehow that's not good enough.
B
Oh, man.
A
Ding ding, ding ye. Foxy Steve says. Foxy Steve says. This feels like Microsoft's setting margins purposely high as a scapegoat to lay off workers in closed studios. I mean, ding, ding, ding. Yeah, exactly right. All this corporate maneuvering bullshit again to explain it to your shareholders. Here's why we laid all these people. They weren't making the accountability margin. You have to bring up that it's 30%. You don't have to bring up that the industry standard is way lower than that. Yeah, in a good time.
B
Especially like, damn, like Xbox isn't even making that the like average there right of where we're talking about like what, 17 to 23, like Xbox, I guess in 2023 here that they mentioned that they reference. They're coming in between 10 and 20.
A
Yeah.
B
And now the number's 30.
A
Yeah. Toast says thank you for the Keeper spoilers. I had no plans to play that game before the spoiler cast. It's been a great experience.
B
Oh, nice.
A
If you play Keeper this weekend, remember, of course, the second half of the Keeper review is a spoiler cast where I left because I haven't played it and the gentlemen all ran through what they did. And I like that a lot. Guitar Hero Arrow says with each passing day, the Activision buyout makes the Xbox One design and reveal look even more like a genius move by comparison.
B
I want to bring in one from Mango Syndrome.
A
Please do.
B
Most journals hyped the Activision buyout. Now this. I don't. I guess maybe I'm reading different journals than you are, but I don't recall, I guess from the. At least on the journalist side of the games media stuff. People hyping up the Activision buyout. Yeah, I guess I remember people having discussions on like, if there's pros, maybe the pro is Bobby Kotick getting out of here.
A
But yeah, I don't know.
B
I feel like people make shit up in regards to that shit.
A
I mean we talked about it for so fucking long and I don't know who you're reading. I don't know if you're considering us or whatever.
B
Like not that I'm saying nobody's doing it because I definitely saw people on Twitter doing it, but I don't think I saw games journalists doing that.
A
There's so many. There's a lot of birthday taxes. We'll get to those later. This is Fallout stuff. We'll end on here. Onimus prime says, as an Xbox fan, it bums me out how Microsoft messed this up. Since 2015, Xbox has been putting themselves in a space to compete with PlayStation again, delivering exclusives. That changed after Activision Blizzard King. Exclusives matter. We shall see.
B
We shall see.
A
Play outer Worlds on your PlayStation this week when it comes out. There's one that IGN had an attitude of just get this done. Which we definitely had by the end of it.
B
Yeah, I think there was that tiredness. I mean people. People are also referencing things that aren't journals. I guess people are talking.
A
You're talking specifically about a Rebecca Valentine and Jason Schreier.
B
Yeah, I'm talking about like people who know what they're talking about type. You know what I mean? I'm talking about people who are like actually like, I guess in the know of the industry. I don't think we're hyping it up that much. I think if you're just talking about YouTubers and you're talking about. Yeah, people just talking on personality.
A
It's like us, whatever the X cast was. I forget the breakdown if people were. I mean I've. I remember there being a lot of. I remember, hey, we like Phil Spencer but this in Xbox. But this could be bad, but it could be good. We don't know.
B
I. I remember my stance being. Corporate consolidation is very scary. And I don't think I like this. And that's in. And I think that's a whole different thing, right. Of like who you go to to hear what opinions. But if you're just talking about the Internet. Yeah, the Internet's gonna hype shit up because the Internet's stupid.
A
Okay. People are calling out podcast Unlocked was for it. I never listened.
B
So I don't know.
A
Yeah, again, this is. We're not saying this didn't happen.
B
We're just saying Mike in chat still Mike.
A
Mike says Mike was hyped. How do you feel now, Mike?
B
Well, Mike, you're in it.
A

Number three on the Roper Report 3D deadly boys. Never forget. Happy retirement. Kirby Air Riders Roundup we're gonna go from Josh Colson over at the Gamer Kirby Air Riders direct includes first looks at Story mode. Even more Amiibo.
B
Come on.
A
We were all like what else could they say for an hour? Road trip was just one of the new details about Kirby Air Riders that Sakurai managed to fill an hour with. The veteran game developer also confirmed the return of Top Ride. Top Ride is a top down mode that was part of the original Kirby Air Ride and it is now confirmed to be coming back in the sequel. Air Riders will also have a stadium mode, the most exciting part of which will be its Versus Boss feature. Saddle up your cart. Sorry Sakurai machine and take on one giant robot version of King De de Robo Da da da doesn't need a machine. He can transform into a giant car, after which he will proceed to blast poor little Kirby with a giant laser. Yes, Day to Day is a Decepticon Now I'm starting to think this game might have everything.
B
I should have proofread this a bit more. I could have pared that down and.
A
I'm still not done. Towards the end of today's direct, Sakurai took us on a deep dive into the upcoming games cosmetics. Its machines have a lot of customization options so that they can. You can make them your own, as do the characters themselves. I was skeptical when a section titled Headwear began, but as soon as Sakurai gave Waddle Dee a top knot, I had to stop myself from closing the stream and heading directly to our Kirby Air Riders pre order guide. Kirby and Waddle Amiibo were revealed as part of the initial Air Riders Direct, and three more characters were confirmed to be joining them during this one Meta Knight Kingdede and Chief Kawasaki will all be getting Amiibo with matching machines and all of the riders can be removed from the machines and placed into different ones. It's going to cost you if you want all five though the direct close to reveal that Demos for Air Riders Demos for Air Riders will be running starting November 8th, ahead of the game's full launch on November 20th.
B
Here's the thing, Greg, you know I'll stand by the fact that when it comes to the Xbox acquisition, I don't remember ever being in strong support of it.
A
Yeah.
B
What I do remember though is saying that this game doesn't need to cost $70.
A
What do you feel now though? Look at all these amiibos.
B
I've not watched the full direct, but I've seen so much stuff come out of it where I'm like, maybe this.
A
Deserves to be $30.
B
Maybe this is a full price game because apparently this has a story mode.
A
Has so many different downloads. You got modes? How many modes you want? We got them. We got the modes on you.
B
Dang. I. I want to read this next one from Sakurai.
A
Sure.
B
Because this is less about the details of the Direct and more so about one of his quotes coming out of it. Essentially saying that like Kirby Air writers, after this is done. Yeah, this is from Chris Scolion at Video Games Chronicle. While concluding an hour long Kirby Air Riders Direct, which broke down the game in great detail, Sakurai explained that its existence was made possible because fans wanted to see it happen, and that the resulting game is the completed work. In this day and age, creating a game and bringing it to life takes a surprising amount of effort, he said. But I think that's reflected in the final product, so I hope you enjoy it. I do believe the passionate support from fans was a big reason why this game was made. You have to spend time and money to make games, so those Wishes aren't always granted. Knowing that I'm grateful both for the support shown to the previous game and that thanks to that support and the efforts of a great many people, we were able to make this game a reality. He then added, quote, just so you know, we're not planning any dlc. Everything is here. Also, I'm not planning on making this an ongoing series. I've thrown everything I have into this game from the start. So I hope you don't miss this opportunity. End quote. Good for him.
A
Good for him. I like all that. Is this gonna sell?
B
You know what? I think it'll do what it needs to. I don't think it's. I mean, it's not gonna be in the list of top 15 best selling Switch 2 games that love to nerd out about, but I think they know that. And also I think they know the power of Nintendo ip. Especially when you get into Sakurai. Like, I know sac. I know mainstream doesn't understand. Yeah.
A
But we do.
B
Developers are.
A
We do.
B
And I also think that Sakurai is so, like, passionate about making his games like a all encompassing. I'm gonna throw everything I have into this thing. I think that'll shine through. I think that'll actually reach people. The $70, I think is gonna be the biggest hurdle for this game to get over as far as people being like, oh, you want to buy a third kart racer this year for $70? And it's a weird one to two button game that like, is Kirby based. I think that's gonna be a big sell for people. But I think they all know that. And I also think. I think this game is gonna do fine. It's the main. It's like a Nintendo highlight of the year, you know?
A
Yeah, I know. I mean, they're making it a big deal. I mean, two giant directs for it. Obviously it's just one for me that like, I just. Okay. And I mean, not every game's for everybody. I get for sure, sure. Yeah. Okay, Good for you.
B
I can't wait to try it out. Honestly, I played the demo and I enjoyed what I played at the demo, but reading about so much more of the stuff that they're adding here, I'm like, yo, this looks fucking.
A
So you're in now? You're in.
B
I'm in.
A
Yeah. You're gonna do the amphithe. Okay, well, good for you. I'm looking forward to your review. You're reviewing it now.
B
Oh, cool. I feel like Tim should.
A
Yeah, I bet you probably have to fight Tim for You know what I mean? Number four. Speaking of prices, Assassin's Creed shadows on switch two is $80. This is Chris Gullion at VGC.
B
I forgot this story was in here.
A
Following months of speculation, Ubisoft has finally confirmed that Assassin's Creed Shadows is coming to Nintendo Switch 2. The Switch 2 version of the game will be released on December 2nd and will include touchscreen support, making it easier for players to navigate menus, maps, and their hideout. The Switch 2 version will include all the content updates that have been introduced since the game was released on other platforms, with the exception of the Claws of Awaji expansion, which won't be released. Won't be added to the Switch 2 until early next year. According to Ubisoft, the Switch 2 version will cost 79.99 and both physical.
B
Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on. There's been an update to the story coming from the same VGC article. Update? This came at 17:36 o' clock BST time.
A
I don't know what the fuck fake time that is.
B
An earlier version of the story included an 80 price point supplied by Ubisoft, which appears to be an error. VGC is seeking clarification. So Ubisoft.
A
All I'm saying is Jordan Midler wrote this article. This wouldn't have this. We wouldn't have this problem.
B
But it wasn't. It was Ubisoft, though.
A
I'm just saying, if Jordan Midler wrote this article at VGC instead of Chris Sculling, we wouldn't have this.
B
Like, other people or other sites were citing it as $80 too, because, well.
A
They'Re citing VGC because the VGC news is where you go get all your news.
B
Well, yeah, but VGC is starting Ubisoft because they.
A
Ubisoft said, listen, listen, listen, listen, listen. I'm just saying, Jordan Midler is so large that he wouldn't have gotten wrong. You're right. It would have taken him so much slower to write the article with his huge fingers.
B
Like, oh, shit.
A
By the time you would have done it, Ubisoft would have updated. It would have been fine. Don't worry about it.
B
People are saying the Amazon Pre order is 60. Okay, that's better because, dude, I was getting ready.
A
Oh, man, you're going to tear him apart. You're all about that.
B
I was making jokes about this with Roger, so I was gonna recycle some of those jokes here.
A
Roger, just gassing you up out there, getting more mad.
B
I was like, it felt like, you know, comedians will go to like a small comedy club to like, you know, practice their material before they go onto the big stage. I was doing that with Roger.
A
I like that. I like, you know.
B
And like, not now. I can't use those jokes anymore. So you'll never hear them. Guys.
A
Fuck, that sucks.
B
Sorry.
A
Cool that it's come to Switch, I guess.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah, it's the usual. Usual Switch or Nintendo problem? We have third party support. Games are a year old. Like, who fucking cares?
B
Touchscreen.
A
Yeah, I know. I like that. So it'll make it easy. It's like, was it hard? Was I having a hard time?
B
Roger made the good point during my tie five that, like, obviously that's going to be a mobile feature. Like, they're planning on porting this to mobile properly. That's probably why it has the touchscreen stuff.
A
Interesting. Okay, I'll take it. Let's move on to story number five. See if this one gets debunked in the middle of reading it. Elden Ring for Nintendo Switch 2 just got hit with another delay. This is Austin Manchester at Polygon. Nintendo Switch 2 players looking forward to venturing through the lands between are going to have to wait a bit longer. From software announced on Thursday that Elden Ring Tarnished edition is being delayed from its 2025 release window to sometime next year. The studio notes that while development on the Nintendo Switch 2 port continues wholeheartedly towards release, FromSoftware has decided to move the launch to 2026 to allow time for performance adjustments, according to a post on X from the Elden Ring account. We apologize to players looking forward to the game and thank you for your patience and support.
B
Interesting.
A
Yeah. What it was Gamescom where there was like, hey, this thing runs like dog. And everybody dogpiled it and then it was packs where people were like, hey, it runs better. Yeah.
B
I think I might have been one of those people. I played it at PAX and I was like, you know, it doesn't run the best, but it's not.
A
I'm not offended by this.
B
I'm not offended by how it runs because it's literally Elden Ring on a Switch.
A
Yeah.
B
Hearing that, they're gonna polish it more. Hell yeah. Like, get this thing to where it can actually run in a way where I'm like, hey, guys, recommendable. You guys should play it on Switch too. You got to get to that place. If Final Fantasy 7 Remake can run that well on Switch to if. What's the other. If Cyberpunk 2077 can run that well on Switch to we can get Elden Ring there.
A
Okay. Are people bummed out or. A lot of people. I mean, like, I know people are looking forward to.
B
I'm sure, from bummed out because now they got to release it the same year as Duskbloods. They're probably.
A
They push that back, too.
B
Oh, I hope not.
A
There you go. Are you. You. You stoked for Dust Bloods?
B
Yeah.
A
Okay.
B
Yeah. After Night Rain. Yeah, I was gonna say, because, like, night. I think before Night Rain, I was kind of like, I don't want a multiplayer from soft thing. And then Night Rain came out. You know, that was actually pretty good. It was like, it's. It's on paper. Okay. But like, in action, when you play that game, it's like, oh, well, there's actually a lot of fun to be had here. I think Dust Bloods might align with that. The main thing I'm worried about is it being another online game from Fromsoft, but also being exclusive to the Switch. Switch to like, that's going to be. That's a meeting of companies that are behind the curve of online.
A
You're like, none of you have gotten it right. None of you have.
B
None of you have nailed this yet.
A
We're bringing it all together. I don't know about.
B
I don't trust Nintendo and I don't trust from when it comes to online, but I'm sure it'll be fun. I trust them when it comes to gameplay.
A
Okay, fair enough. Whenever that game comes out, you know that it's going to be big news. But blessings say I was sick of all the big news and I wanted something smaller. Where should I go?
B
You go to our last news story, the WE News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.

Number six, the Wii News from Polygon. Steam has a new calendar feature. Let's see some images. Kevin. Steam is rolling out a new tool to help users wade through the sea of endless new releases announced Tuesday. The personal calendar will display a snapshot of games that have recently released and those coming in the near future.
B
I love this. I. I saw this yesterday, clicked into my calendar and it's really cool. Yeah, it shows your wish lists and, like, organizes them and then also just games that you're probably interested in. But you can turn all that stuff off easy.
A
Okay.
B
And it's a. I. I've been asking for an automated calendar for so long just from like, any platform that wants to do it. Like, whether it is like these, like, backlog.com, which I think backlog has a version of it steam doing it natively in their thing. Chef's kid.
A
Where do I see the calendar? That's still.
B
That's the tough thing is I haven't. I. I opened it on my browser through the link on Polygon. I didn't check to see. I didn't check to see how you do it on the.
A
On my wish list options. No, no. Uncle Leo. Recommendations. Oh, here it is.
B
You found it.
A
Yeah. Under recommendations. My personal calendar. Oh. Release the last month. Release the and less.
B
What's coming up for you? What's Steam telling you? That you got to play.
A
Well, let's go. Upcoming.
B
Okay, okay, okay.
A
It's telling me Isla, the Frosty Glide Ninja guiding for because it has no idea who the I am Bloodlines, which I already own. But it whatever RV there yet because you guys are always playing it. I probably wish listed Dispatch is on here. Katamari Bounty Star, which I just can't get hyped for.
B
Really.
A
Every time I see Bounty Star, I'm like, that's not me.
B
I want to try that one out.
A
Radio Light.
B
Oh, I I. What I like about this is that it has three sections. So the first section is released in the last month.
A
Yeah.
B
The second section is released in the last seven days. And then the third section is like the upcoming thing. This is organized perfectly. Whoever worked on this page, I think nailed it as far as what it needs to.
A
It's recommended a game I've never heard of and I'm. They might have nailed it. Radio Light. And that's like a radio and the like a light bulb. Light.
B
Radio light.
A
Ashwood Creek, 1985. A child disappears without a trace. A local policeman. Policeman is drawn to the national park, seeking the truth. Mysterious radio signals beckon him further and further. Investigate, survive, and face the unknown in Radio Light. In 80s thriller by Solo Dev Kristoff. Nest or no Nestle.
B
Huh.
A
This calendar is walking sim. Huh?
B
Oh, this looks cool.
A
This looks fucking rat.
B
Yeah. You know, I feel like it's been a minute since a good walking sim.
A
Yeah. Oh, that was scary. Got a little like fire watchy kind of thing.
B
Unless like you take. I guess dead take.
A
What is this? I'm buying it. When's that out? Is this.
B
Like.
A
Oh, it's out right now. Okay.
B
Is it like horror or is it.
A
I mean, that's what it said it looks like over there. Yeah. It's an 80s thriller. Seemed a compatibility unknown, but I don't worry about it.
B
This calendar is how I'm learning that Hotel Barcelona came out earlier this Month.
A
See, that's how you gotta do.
B
That's crazy.
A
And hold on, I'm agreeing.
B
Hold on. Now I'm looking at the buying radio.
A
Like just like that. Thank you Steam for your cool calendar.
B
Hold up. I'm looking at a game coming out October, oh 22nd called Hyper Beat. This looks rad. Embark as a night in order. As a night night in an order chasing their potential. Featuring an original soundtrack, precision rhythm gameplay, character customization and a story following an ensemble cast. I'm looking at it and it looks like an old like PS2 enhanced. Enhanced in enhanced studios games game. You know what I mean?
A
Oh sure. Hell yeah. Yeah, yeah.
B
This looks cool, huh?
A
Good job, Steam. Everyone go check this out. Like I said, if you're on your Steam, you can go to the store where I was. Right? Is that what I did? Yeah, store. Then for me it was recommendations, carrot and then explore my calendar. Yeah, that's pretty red all right. I like this a lot. Oh, and you can hide your wish listed games too.
B
Yes. Oh.
A
As I said, and I know I'm the first to say in a long time, Steam. Pretty cool.
B
Pretty cool.
A
I said that on last week's Gamescast.
B
Why can't we have this on the PlayStation Store?
A
Oh, I'd break from games radar. Crafton says it will be an AI first company. Kraft and CEO Kim Changhan says the company quote, will expand the growth opportunities of each member through the AI first strategy, expand creative attempts centered on player experience and lead AI innovation in the game industry as a whole. End quote.
B
That's the, that's the Wii News version of it. If you go and read the full article, you know, if you're, if you, if you heard that and you're like, man, they're saying that with their full chest. Like that. Read the whole, read the whole thing. Because yeah, they're even worse. It's even worse. Like they're saying it with their full chest. Hey, AI is the mandate. AI first. That's what we're doing.
A
If you even thought there was going to be a good crafting game coming up anytime soon, that is. See you later. That we have left.
B
The hi Fi Rush soundtrack is going to be all a. Oof.
A
Kingdom to come. Deliverance 2's final story DLC is out November 11th. Pokemon the trading car and the card. Nope. The TCG. What is it?
B
Pokemon TC Pocket.
A
Yeah, yeah, but I'm saying the card game Pokemon TCG Pocket Mega Rising expansion launches October 30th. Bluey's quest for the Gold pen has Been announced for Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, mobile and PC.
B
You see this one?
A
No, I did not. Kevin, can I get a trailer for Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen? Thank you very much. Neopets Minis. Nope. Mega Mini Games Collection launches 3-26-26 on PlayStation 5, Switch and PC.
B
This is my Bluey's Quest for the Gold Pen.
A
I appreciate that.
B
I was a big Neopets kid.
A
Sonic Rumble launches November 5th on mobile and PC. And Sonic Racing. Cross Worlds has surpassed 1 million copies. Joker is now out as DLC. We are looking at his Bluey drawing at her kitchen table. As you'd expect. Here comes Bandit. Oh, are we gonna do it with the blue? We're gonna do it in the page. We're gonna be characters in the page. A new Bluey adventure game. Original story from the show's creator, Louie's Quest for the Gold Pen. Pre order now. Oh, that's all we got. All right. Well, I'm telling you. Oh, and it's all on the Mac or preorder. Okay.
B
It's on everything.
A
I wonder how mobile it'll be.
B
I mean.
A
Yeah, but I will. I'll put it on my wish list. So.
B
I know. I mean, you.
A
Red Reclaimer says, I didn't know Bluey was a girl. She is ago.
B
It looks like. Yeah, it's gonna be like a 2D on the page.
A
I would like that. You know, I've been bummed out. Nick tunes Dice of Destiny.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
You know what I mean?
B
Yeah.
A
Like, and it's like a. It looks like a kid's version of an arpg. Right. And I booted it up for Ben, and I'm like, you can be a Ninja Turtle. You can be spongebob. And he wasn't having it. He wanted to go back to playing skate. He wanted to go back to playing Spider Man. And I was like, damn, I'm interested. Knowing this game. I want to play this one, Ben. I gotta do it when he goes to bed. Escape from Duck off has sold 1 million copies.
B
Insane.
A
You were talking about that the other day.
B
Yeah. When it sold a 500,000.
A
Yeah. They sent you a code. They were so excited to see you talk about it.
B
Yeah, I haven't booted up yet, but it looks cool.
A
And then possibly the biggest news of the day, the Rhythm Cross roguelite action game Rataton has surpassed cumulative sales of 100,000 copies during its Steam early access period. A major update is scheduled for October 30th.
B
Yeah.
A
And you know your boy Greg Miller will be there. There Once again for the spiritual successor to pat upon.
B
You've been playing Raditzon?
A
I did. I did that one big fight of it. Early access is always that thing.
B
Yeah.
A
Of how much am I committed to it? And, yeah. So I did. Yeah. Six hours on a flight or whatever. And it was like. Started off being like, oh, I wish it was just pat upon. And then by the end, I was like, I get it. I get what we're doing, and this is cool. But it was more of that. It's review season. There's a million things to play, and what is going to keep me going?
B
It's on my wish list. I saw, like, one trailer of it that looked really cool, and I was like, oh, this might be a me type of game.
A
So. Yeah. And then your final news. WE news. But it could be big news. But I think we heard. It's just we news. We do have your fallout day 2025. Everything announced, we are reading from Michael kripes report@ign.com I'm gonna just read the big bullet points. If there's something we need to dive into. Let it go. Also, we got to talk about this. I know. This is how it works. I understand this. But I'm being served the ad here on the thing for the movie Regretting you.
B
Yeah.
A
It stars McKenna Grace, who is now an adult, but I still think of her as Phoebe Spangler, the little ghostbuster. So I do not like seeing her in this intimate embrace with this man. I just wanted.
B
I didn't know where you're going with that.
A
Okay. She is a child. I know she is not. But she's. She will always be a child.
B
That's like me. Whenever I see. Maybe from Arrested Development.
A
Fair enough.
B
Yeah. Because she's in everything. She's in so many things now.
A
And I see her kids be growing up. I understand kids are growing up, but it's just. I feel like Ghostbusters afterlife was like. Like last year. And I realized, of course, even that said it was four years ago, it's not that long.
B
I mean, listen, Arrested development was like, 20 years ago.
A
Anyways, Fallout Day report from IGN goes like this. Celebrating 10 years of Fallout 4 with an Anniversary Edition and Nintendo Switch 2. It's coming. So Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition is going to come to Nintendo Switch 2. It'll be bundled with all the DLCs. Of course, it's also coming to. Oh, Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition has a November 10th release date. Platforms remain unclear for now, but Bethesda at least confirms Fallout 4 will be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026. So there's a anniversary edition coming. You assumed everything else on November 10 and then later on. Okay, cool. Obsidian Entertainment shows up to celebrate Fallout New Vegas and reveal a new bundle. The Fallout New Vegas 15th Anniversary Edition Bundle is available to pre order right now from the gear store. You get. You get your big Victor statue. It's not even a remaster. It's just the ultimate edition. That sucks.
B
That super sucks. I mean, it's cool, but like, yeah, I want to remaster. If we're gonna celebrate New Vegas, let's celebrate New Vegas.
A
Fallout comes to the real world. There's like Halloween horror night stuff. Fallout shelter celebrates its 10 year anniversary. Fallout 76 heads into its next year with Burning Springs. I previewed this, of course. This is Walter Goggins coming to Fallout 76. They put a date on it. We said, okay, here we go. No, IGN doesn't have a date for it. I thought I saw in there. Didn't chat. Didn't. There was a date on the 76 expansion. It's not in the article yet.
B
Brian wins. So nothing.
A
December 2 says Mr. Hawks is when you can play the new Fallout 76 expansion, which I played and enjoyed. And I will also come back for.
B
For. Yeah, but what are we doing? The show's coming out in December. You gotta have a skew.
A
This is what they have out in December.
B
The Fallout 76 expansion.
A
Yeah. If you don't think that the Fallout 76 either before. I'm sorry. Fallout season two episodes either start before or end with this trailer. Probably of it's me the ghoul and I'm in fall 76. Come play with me right now. Blah blah. And they'll probably do some kind of wait. Is fall 76 free to play? I know there's a. Do you have to buy Fallout 76 anymore? Listen, I know on game pass.
B
I was gonna say every game is free to play for $300, something dollars a year on Xbox. Game pass. Correct. Also.
A
No. Oh, I love. I love the. Okay, you have to pay.
B
Here's the thing.
A
Yeah.
B
Your. Your. Your cousin's partner watches the Fallout TV show season two for the first time. They're like, wow, I want to play as a video game game. You can point them to Fallout 76.
A
That's what they're gonna try to do.
B
Yuck.
A
I'm.
B
Hey, remaster a game. Dang it.
A
What about Fallout 4 Anniversary Edition?
B
Let's move on.
A
Which they've already played, obviously. After last year.
B
You can get this on Switch too. Honestly, that's not bad. Like, hey, if you have a sleeve.
A
Here, if you have a title, it would be. It is. Here's what we got to say, that I'm at least thankful that there's something new in 76 tied to the show for the show. It was such a gaffe last time around of season one and everybody wants to play Fallout. It felt like everybody's like, oh, we didn't expect this.
B
Yeah.
A
And so like Fallout Forest top of Steam charts. I went and played a bunch of 76 and fell in love with what it is. Like there was all this, like, yes. All that said when they were like, at the end of season one. Spoilers for the end of season one, season two, we're going to New Vegas. The fact that nobody went ring a ding, ding. Stop everything we're doing. But I don't. Why are we doing the Elder Scrolls Remastered Remaster Fallout New Vegas right fucking now. Right now.
B
No shade to Oblivion. Oblivion remaster? They remastered that for no reason. New Vegas was right fucking there. Not saying that you shouldn't get to the Oblivion remaster, but yeah, you're right.
A
Like, at the very least, Fallout 3 remaster Bastard should be launching us alongside this as well.
B
Yeah.
A
So that there is. And again, like, I'm not the smartest man in the room, but sell it. What? Sell. Would they sell oblivion for 70? I imagine they did. And I know game pass, whatever, but like, what, what, what, what, what, what, what? Like, you need 30. You got to have your employee profit in Investment margin up 30% and nobody's like, you know what? We should do the game that everybody thinks is the best Fallout New Vegas. Why don't we remaster that now and at the very least do Fallout 3 remaster to put out. Because people bought these games. They already went on this up.
B
Dude, I'd be so down for a Fallout 3 remaster.
A
And you know it's coming and I can't wait. But why? You know, and I'm gonna turn on New Vegas or no. 76 and I'm gonna go play 76 and do the. The bounties. I enjoyed what I put. But I'm not gonna be.
B
I'm happy for you.
A
I'm not gonna. I. I'm not gonna be. I'm not gonna fall down another 100 hour hole for this thing.
B
Yeah.
A
I'm gonna boot it up. Remember my character's way op. Do the thing I needed. Or maybe I will just keep playing outer worlds too.
B
I don't even want to talk about Fallout 76. Because I know it's. It's good now, right? That's good. Okay. Yeah, I know it's good now, but.
A
It ain't it for you.
B
That's not what I'm. That's not the kind of.
A
That's it for WE news, everybody. We did it.
B
This is a big we news.
A
It was a big WE news, but we had a lot of fun here. Here. Let's check in on the old super chats before we get out of here. Admiral Redbird. Red Beard. Greg, can you explain how you and Tim reviewed Pokemon? Did they send you two codes or did you all share? No, my, as usual bullying tactic worked and we got two codes. Let me tell you, if you had. If we had one code and we shared it, that'd be a violation of rules and we'd be.
B
Yeah, Nintendo doesn't like that.
A
No way. Josh G. Says I'll spend $40 on the chief Kawasaki Amiibo.
B
You know, the chef.
A
Great googly moogly.
B
That's his catchphrase. Yeah, Kirby, right back at you.
A
Alvarado. CN Says gaming adjacent ICE is moving in force to San Francisco. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, just in time for gdc. Yes, we are aware that ICE is invading San Francisco.
B
Fuck ice.
A
Many protests. Fuck ice. Into the ground, of course. Yeah. There's a lot of stuff going on out here. And it's just shocking that ICE just keeps coming to these blue states and blue cities. I digress. But you know, it's out of control. Bring in the National Guard. Why not? Why not just bulldoze half the fucking White House too? And add a giant ballroom we don't need?
B
I hate when I walk outside and it's a war zone. In daily. In daily.
A
Oh, my God. It's the worst out there. You know what I mean? Yeah, it's the. It's a bad Christian's. Ruiz says. Greg, which is better? Star. Well, he missed the spell. Starfield. Which is an insult or Outer Worlds 2? You'll have to find out in the review we're doing right after this. Gary says. Greg, where's your sweater from? Xbox is dead by 2030. This sweater is from Homage. Homage. Homage. It's Homage. But if you're aren't familiar with the word starts with an H. They have a bunch of amazing stuff. Oh, yeah. Admiral Redbeard says two more dollars for bullying. You're welcome. Thank you. I will bully any of these big corporations. Send us extra codes. Inner jet stream. Super chatted and said sending love from one of the UPS drivers. You entertain every day. Y' all have change my life for the better and I can't thank you enough. We're happy to be there for you on your ride. Stay hydrated and depending on where you are, stay warm or stay cold. You know what I mean? Opulent pasta in the chat Live says I liked Stella's comment on their replay of Outer Worlds one, that Starfield was sterile and Outer Worlds had more flavor. We'll see what Stella thinks of Outer World 2 because of course she is joining us for this review alongside Paris Lily. It's a jam packed cast, man. Starfield, remember that one?
B
Yeah. That's crazy.
A
Expansions are coming soon.
B
I did him out this week.
A
We had a news article about it, didn't we? Where they're like, it's the procedural generation that killed it. Oh, that didn't make that. Okay, whatever. Alex J. Sandoval's.
B
We knew that didn't make anything.
A
Console soldiers should direct their. You talked about it positively at the actual corporation and execs laying people off, not people who talk and speculate and have no impact on business decisions. Thank you. Phil of the Trucker says Activision bill is due. But Microsoft started buying studios after Sony started paying studios to keep games off of Xbox. Well, for the record, PlayStation's always been fucking paying people to keep games off of Xbox.
B
You went, never mind.
A
There's a lot I'm jumping through now to do some stuff here. Omega Buster says, Greg, now that you're a PC gamer, just wanted to send you a weekly reminder to shower. That's good, that's good, that's good. And it was, you know, funny too, the other day. It was on stream. It was on stream. Maybe it wasn't. Maybe it was a private conversation. But I'm going to blow it up. Where Andy was lamenting that he can't show his Steam store when he wants to do stuff because there's always some fucking erotic bullshit fiction thing because of how Steam works. And I think about all the time when I like what is happening on the store and I go there and it's like number three in top sellers is fucking, you know, Dominatrix.
B
I, you know, I try to help him out because I was like, I've never seen that shit. But I. After the show I was kind of thinking about. I was like, is. I was like, is that his algorithm? Is that like a. Yeah, an indie thing. Where. Where are you going?
A
Kel Ren says you can turn that off, but why would we want to?
B
All right. I'm in Top sellers.
A
Why would anyone want to disable that? Crosser98 Birthday tax been lurking since 2012. Thanks for getting me into podcasts. No problem. Thank you for hanging out. Brody Odie says Birthday tax. It's my birthday today. Is that how it works? I'm too afraid to ask. Thanks for everything you all do. October rules. Happy Birthday, Brody odie. Happy birthday, Crosser98. Mr. Hawk celebrating Fallout Day says on this day in 2077, nuclear bombs decimated human civilization across the planet, setting off a chain reaction that would eventually lead to a ghoulified Nick and Andy hosting kfao. Happy Fallout Day. Happy Fallout Day to you too, Delco. Scooch says. Lol, Greg. I'm delivering right now. And when I read that out of context in the middle of the show, I thought you were having a baby.
B
That's what I thought.
A
And now that I've read the other UPS driver, when I'm like, oh, cool, cool, cool. That's so cool. We get to be with you through your workday like that. I like that a lot. Like, I'm on the new releases looking.
B
At the top sellers I'm not seeing.
A
Here's the thing is, I do think, and I'm gonna ask everybody to put down your arms for two seconds.
B
Seconds.
A
Just hear out my entire argument before you flip the fuck out. I do think it's based on your search history. And I say that as someone. When I did the Skill up thing and I wanted to make fun of PC gamers, I was like, there's 1,800 games with erotic in the title, so I get served a lot of it. Hey, you googled erotic once. What do you think of that? You want to see this titty? And I'm like, you know what? I do. But yeah, see, let's. Because look down here. New and trending Fresh Women Season 2.
B
Jesus.
A
Two seasons bunkered with Femboy. Sleepover Rewake. Jason coming of age. Like, I again, like, wow. I did it to myself. I did it to my fucking self. I had to make fun of PC gamer. That's at the bottom of my thing. New and trending and Escape from Duck Off. Everything else. Fucking perverted as shit.
B
Yeah, I'm just getting these extraction shooters is all I'm getting.
A
But Bunkered with Femboy? No. You know what? I'm gonna play Arc Raiders 1. Here's another thing I' call out just for you and me that I think is interesting. We like getting into the sausage of how video games are made right here on my Steam page. The banner ad is Dismatch now available?
B
Yeah.
A
Do you find it interesting that they're clearly using a key art image from like before they changed characters around like blonde Blazer is blonde. She's not blonde in this. And also this never. This never happens in the game unless.
B
There'S some episodes, if there's a flash forward.
A
But I don't think that's what's going to happen. I just think it's interesting that that's clearly not what the most updated assets are. But I digress. Everybody, we've got to go review The Outer Worlds 2. With myself, Blessing, Andy, Paris, Lily and Stella Chung, of course. This has been the one, the only, the kind of funny games Daily show. I fucked all that up. Of course. Remember, it's the nerdy news you need to know about each and every weekday. It kicks off a live programming day that's usually followed by the Gamescast Today, followed by In Review on top of that, and then of course all sorts of manner of fun show that you can get into a big day of content here. I'm excited to finally talk about the Outer worlds too. Remember, if you're excited to hear about it, I'd be excited if you went and got a kind offunny membership. YouTube.com kindafunnygames patreon.com Kinda funny. Twitter, Apple, Spotify, of course you could go to Twitch, you could do Amazon prime, sub all that stuff. Keep the lights and mics on. Ala Kachamp says not enough femboys in outer world two for Greg. 7.5. Y' all be funny. And I like that that we got to go do this review. Until next time. What are you thinking about over there? You're thinking real hard on that.
B
I'm like, is there? No. Cuz I was, I was going through.
A
The Femboys are in Outer World.
B
I was like, is there a femboy? Because I feel like we're at the place where we can. We can put femboys in video games. You know what I mean?
A
Sure, yeah. We put anybody in a video game. Yeah, I mean you'll be surprised.
B
I don't know if I've played an RPG yet that's had a femboy.
A

Episode Date: October 23, 2025 | Hosts: Greg Miller & Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Today’s episode of Kinda Funny Games Daily is steeped in “spooky Xbox news.” Greg and Blessing dive into bombshell reporting from Bloomberg about Microsoft’s new profit margin targets for Xbox, the fallout of those expectations, and spectacular shifts in Xbox leadership philosophy—particularly Sarah Bond’s claim that exclusive games are “antiquated.” The gang also touches on major Nintendo headlines (Kirby Air Riders Direct), new tools for gamers from Steam, and rounds up the latest industry news including release delays and new game reveals.

Greg (about Xbox’s new focus):
“It’s all well and good—what about next year when Fable does underperform or Gears does underperform... All right, cool, make cuts again… I know Double Fine is never going to make a game that gets 30%. I feel like that’s when you start cutting.” ([29:41])
Blessing (on exclusives):
“I think exclusives are antiquated for Xbox … because you can't do that on your own platform. … You got to put them anywhere they might find that [margin].” ([20:03])
On Microsoft’s Direction:
“We’ve seen basically schizophrenia from Microsoft… They can’t make up their mind on what they’re going to do... because somebody’s fucking yanking the reins of them every time.” – Greg ([15:14])
On corporate greed:
“This is the problem... just fucking corporate greed. Nothing is good enough... They don’t care about the product. They care about the profit margin.” – Greg ([17:04])
Listener “Programmer Sid” via super chat:
“Microsoft reported over $100 billion in the last fiscal year and somehow that's not good enough.” ([31:50])
The episode is classic Kinda Funny: informal, candid, and sometimes irreverent, but deeply insightful. Greg and Blessing bring humor and strong perspective, balancing laments on industry corporatization with excitement over new announcements. Listener interaction via super chats adds real-time community pulse to the analysis.
This episode unpacks seismic changes at Xbox, triggered by a newly imposed, aggressive profit mandate from Microsoft corporate. The hosts connect the dots between this mandate, studio closures, the push away from exclusive titles, and Xbox’s broader strategic confusion. Important context is provided for Xbox fans worried about the future, all while keeping up with the latest Nintendo news and releases, and offering sharp commentary on industry trends.
Final Recommendation:
If you care about the future of Xbox, game studios facing the squeeze, or the evolving business landscape of games, this is a must-listen (or a must-read summary!).
