Today's stories include Nintendo Switch 2 pre orders have been delayed. My review of the excellent Devil May Cry Netflix show and marathon might be ready for a big reveal. We'll have all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily. What's up? And welcome to Kind of Funny Games daily for Friday, April 4, 2025. Of course. I'm your host, Tim Gettys, and I'm joined by Blessing Adoh Jr. Good, Tim. Good day to you too. It's good to be back at the desk in San Francisco.
Tim Gettys
Oh my goodness. Good week, I should say.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
What a week. Oh my God.
Tim Gettys
Bad week in some ways, but good, good mostly, I would say.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, it's, it's rough. Obviously there's a lot of bad. We're going to talk about a lot of that. But a lot of good. And I will just say like a lot of good in terms of friendship, in terms of companionship and fun. Me, you and Raj in New York had a great time, fantastic time. The last couple days, very busy. My voice is gone a little bit. I don't know how that happened, but.
Tim Gettys
You don't know how that. We talked to so many people. We talked non stop.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
We talked for the last three days. I asking so many questions, didn't get many answers. That's classic Nintendo. I wanted to address something at the top of the show real quick. I don't want to go too deep or too long. But just a couple things because now officially we can embargo are up. We can say whatever we want to say about this stuff. Obviously I wanted to be here for the live reaction to the Nintendo Direct 2. I tried my best to make that happen. When I found out the times were overlapping, I was very upset. Upset to the point that I was like, hey, can we not be there in the in person thing? And can we just record our reactions? It's in a hotel. And they were like, no, you have to be there. And then I was like, okay, but can I record my reaction at the theater? Can we just put A camera under there and me, Raj and bless react and edit it and put it up later. And they're like, let me see. And they tried to see. And then they said no. And I'm not kidding you, I then begged them to allow us to do it. I have an email that in all caps, I said, please let us do this. It is very important to me. And they said, sorry. So I just want to let you all know, I fought the fight. I care more than you do, but I really, really, really appreciate that so many of you care. I am sorry that you will let down in any way, but we did the what we think is the right call. We got to go hands on with this thing. That was very important that me and you specifically got to hold this thing and be able to tell you guys our experience seeing it in action, seeing the screen itself, feeling the buttons, like having hands on experience with the, the mouse control and the new joy cons and, and all of that stuff. So just putting that all out there. And also we couldn't say anything beforehand. You know, Nintendo is secretive. This is the most secretive they've ever been. They're like, you can't even hint that you're going on a trip, that you're going to be in New York, that all. That you're going to be there at all. So obviously we wanted to tell y'all way more information than we were able to. So just setting the record straight there, letting you know all that stuff. So please, if you, if you see people saying stuff, let them know that's where things are at. That makes sense.
Tim Gettys
I think that makes perfect sense. And this is what I'll say is that I had the time of my life this week.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Me too.
Tim Gettys
I think for me and you. And like, you've been in the industry for decades. You've been in the industry for a very long time. At this point.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, I mean, at this point, I made my second decade. It's early, but I'm there.
Tim Gettys
Yes. And like, for me, right, Like, I started my first podcast like 10 years ago, but like, oh my God, no.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I'm over halfway through the second one.
Tim Gettys
Oh, you're getting old. You're getting old.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Like, sorry, sorry to cut your eyes in the beard.
Tim Gettys
I can see the grave.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Oh, no, no, no. I was in the middle point. Let bless have his moments. Let me have some happiness. We should have stayed just so this would end. You know what I mean?
Tim Gettys
How did we come back?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I don't know why we could still be in New York and eating Those amazing bagels, man. Roger was right.
Tim Gettys
Oh, man. You ever had a New York launch bagel? This was good.
Greg Miller
Don't get so twisted. I'm just here to hand this prop back over. Now that I am, Mr. Six stars in the till. Put it up, Barrett. Put up the little graphic you use.
Tim Gettys
What do you mean?
Greg Miller
I cashed it in. You all saw it at the start of the switch to direct. I cashed this in. You weren't here. So as CEO, I gave myself a competitor the three stars. That's how it works.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
It can't possibly work that way.
Tim Gettys
Who asked the questions?
Greg Miller
There were no questions. No one showed up. You didn't show up. Roger didn't show up. Tim didn't show up. So by default, I went there to see.
Tim Gettys
I don't think.
Greg Miller
Go ahead and move three of team Orange's stars over to team Blue.
Tim Gettys
I, I don't think those are the rules. As the commissioner and host of game showdown, I, I. This is where I draw the line. I cannot let this slide. I let a lot slide this season. I let a lot slide here. I've let a whole lot slide. I'm not.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
It's not been nice to me. Bless.
Tim Gettys
Listen, no, we're not doing this.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
The.
Tim Gettys
The stars. The bank still belongs to you. You are still Mr. Stars in the bank. You're welcome. And you can cash this in just at a later time or right now.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
If you want to.
Tim Gettys
But no, the thing that you get this over with, the thing that you did the other day does not count for this now. Not doing that.
Greg Miller
You want to do it right now?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, please.
Greg Miller
Do you have questions ready and everything?
Tim Gettys
I mean, I got. You ready?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
If you want to catch it in right now, you can do it.
Greg Miller
Blessing. You guys wait for me now.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
All right.
Greg Miller
I would like to officially announce that the Tim Getty's Farewell Tour rolls on. Everyone. Your shirts are still available at kind of funny.com store, I believe. I don't know. I don't check. And what I need you to know is that this is a big. This is big news. This is a big change for the farewell, too, all right? Because of course, we. We called Curran, we called Alfredo, we tried to call Little High School, but it didn't work.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Oh, my God.
Greg Miller
This is groundbreaking. Because now that they've given us more time, I have great news for everybody. The Tim Gettys Farewell Tour is making its official first stop in Chicago, Illinois, when you come to see me at Benedictine University on Thursday, April 10th. That's right. Kind of funny.com Chicago Come get your tickets. If you come to the meet and greet, you can get your photo with the stars in the bank briefcase. I'll bring it. All right. And I'm also gonna bring some paper and a pen and anything you want to write that's hate mail to Tim, you go ahead and do it and I will put it inside the briefcase. And then once I'm back, until I cash in, I will come out and I will read that hate mail to Tim live on the air. And it can be as dirty and crass as you want it to be. I don't care. So that's a big deal. Everybody get your tour shirts. Don't worry about the date, and I'll see you in Chicago, all right. Where you can get a photo with Mr. Stars in the bank and the briefcase itself. Kind of funny.com Chicago Jesus Christ. It could happen at any time, Tim.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I just want it to be over.
Greg Miller
Well, you should have come to work. I can't believe you turned your back on the fans, on the best friends, on the supporters, on the streams. They all wanted to see what you thought of it. Where was Diddy?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
What? Okay, well, now that that's over blessed.
Tim Gettys
What'S funny is that on it, there was one of those games, cats that went up where we were talking about Donke Kong and I think I said something about Diddy and I think I. I saw you make a face and I didn't realize what you were reacting to until after we recorded. I was like, oh, yeah, we can't. We have to put the Kong after Diddy for now.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
It needs the Kong.
Tim Gettys
You got to put the Kong after Diddy from now on.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
All right, reset moment. Back to it.
Tim Gettys
Back to it. I've worked at kind of funny for about close to five and a half years now, if you can believe it or not. Right. And in that time, I've not gotten to experience a Nintendo console launch. I don't think I've ever. And I'm also not going to experience a console launch where I'm part of a preview event and gotten my hands on with it.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, right. And for me, PlayStation and Xbox didn't have them because the pandemic.
Tim Gettys
Because the pandemic. And I'm. I mean, my first console was the Nintendo 64. Like that. My earliest memories were playing Mario 64 and going from that to now. This last week being at the Nintendo Switch to preview event was really cool because that's going to influence our coverage going forward.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Right.
Tim Gettys
Like, we can now talk with Authority. We can now talk having been. Been able to play Don Kong Bonanza or been able to play Metroid Prime 4 and all these things, which is very important for our coverage, but even more so just for me as a personal, like, achievement kind of thing. Dude, I got to be one of the first people to get hands on. On the Nintendo Switch too. And that's just so special to me.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And so it is.
Tim Gettys
I don't know, I just. I just love the fact that, like, I've been able to achieve that and shout out to you, Tim. Shout out to the audience. Shout out to. Just kind of funny in general for the fact that, like, we're at a place where we can make that happen.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I mean, dude, I am so proud of you. I didn't. It was an honor to be there with you and Raj covering it all. We absolutely crushed it. I feel like I'm tearing up right now not trying to do this on a freaking Friday. Is it Friday? No. Honestly, man, that was special. That was real special. And seeing Roger want to go above and beyond. I might full on cry. Seeing Roger go above and beyond, wanting to edit the videos and, like, make sure that all the footage we got was, like, on top of our excellent conversations. Check out all the games, cast, and videos that we posted on. On kind of Funny games the last couple days. Because me and you were crushing it in those conversations. We played the games all day, went back to the hotel. Like, we worked our asses off the last couple days, and I'm so freaking proud of it. We got to talk to so many amazing people at Nintendo. So many amazing people, like the Jason Schreiers of the world, you know, all of them. All the homies. And something that was so incredible to me was the amount of people there giving me shit about stars in the bank. The amount of people that matter. The amount of people coming up to me and be like, wait, what's. What's happening here? You know what I mean? I'm just like, God, like, this is. It's insane that the dumb shit we do has this much. I don't want to say influence, but people know about it.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, People see it. People are in on the bits. Yeah. People that we know in the industry that you know in the industry are like, oh, wow, you're not there. Who's going to cash in on the stars of the bank, right? Like, how's that going to. How's that going to happen? I don't know. Just a lot of cool shit happening and. Yeah, like, I just a very special week and also like, you know, I posted my Instagram post of the pictures that we took there and the amount of my friends that were like damn, you look so happy just being there. I'm like, dude, I was happy. We all were playing the Nintendo Switch too.
Blessing Adoh Jr.

Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Just undefeatable. I mean you can't stop me.
Tim Gettys
He had his day though.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah.
Tim Gettys

Blessing Adoh Jr.
That's a great question. That is a great, great question. But we haven't met him yet, I'll tell you that.

Wow.

I don't even.
Tim Gettys
I got plans. You don't. You don't got to know about them.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
The stream is going to be big after this. It is finally time to return to Verdansk Today, the map that started it all returns and so did the Jabroni boys, along with Chris Anka who will be in studio. Come watch the boys play Warzone starting at noon. Barrett, Courtney, what's up?

Today we're brought to you By Lost Skies Monaco 2 and Rocket Rocket Money. But we'll tell you all about that later. Today we're brought to you by. Wait, no, I read that again. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. Time for some news. We have six stories today. Dozen Story number one Nintendo delays switched to preorders because of Trump tariffs. This comes from Kiff Less Wing at cnbc. Nintendo said on Friday that preorders for the company's hotly anticipated switch to game console would be delayed following President Donald Trump's announcement this week of sweeping new tariffs. Pre orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the US will not start April 9, 2025, in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions, a Nintendo representative told cnbc. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025 is unchanged. The delay marks one of the most significant immediate responses from a major company regarding their concerns about President Trump's tariffs and their impact on business and consumer spending. Most electronics companies manufacture in Asia, home to some of the steepest hikes. Nintendo Switch 1 consoles were made in China and Vietnam, Reuters reported in. Reuters.
Tim Gettys
Reuters, Reuters.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
In 2019, Vietnam was hit with a 46% tariff, and China is now at 54%. Nintendo hasn't said where its new consoles will be made. Nintendo also didn't say if it would raise the price of the console, which was announced earlier this week to be 450. In the United States, IPC, a trade group focused on electronics manufacturing, estimated on Friday the game console price could rise by 50% due to the tariffs announced this week. Nintendo revealed the new console the same day that Trump unveiled new tariffs.
Tim Gettys
Wow.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Fuck.
Tim Gettys
Wow. A $700. Nintendo Switch 2, you think $750? Like, seemingly we can probably get there in terms of what they decide on the new price here. They decide on the new price, which seems likely that they're gonna decide on a new price. Of course. This all sucks, Tim. And, like, I can draw the line or I can. I can excuse racism. I can excuse xenophobia and transphobia and being a shit person and fucking sexual assault. I was gonna say allegations, but convictions, Tim. I can excuse all that. I draw the line at raising the price of the Nintendo Switch, too, because of terrorists. What the fuck are we doing, Tim? What the are we doing?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
We're here, man. We're here, you know, and it sucks. And what sucks is we're here. But where is here? What does here even look like? The amount of confusion going on, the amount of just, like, the fact that, like, this is all just happening. The world just needs to deal with it. Yeah, the world. Nintendo's trying to launch their next console ads. They don't even know. Like, they put all this up the same day these. The tariff announcements are made inside. All right, cool. Well, this is going to shift plans. What's this going to look like? Who knows? When's this going to end? I don't know. Does the system end up hitting June 5th? Does any of this matter? We're just talking about the video game side of this when there's so much more going on.
Tim Gettys
That's the. That's the tough part of it for me where, you know, I open this up with humor, right? Because, like, honestly, I look at this and I'm like, damn, this fucking sucks. But also, I look at the world and I go, damn, shit fucking sucks. And it's hard for me to care as much about the video game side of things because, like, it. This is the small piece of the pie compared to everything else that's going on in the world.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Right.
Tim Gettys
And so like, we're obviously video game commentators, so we got to talk about this. Right. But like really, for me, the conversation. I don't really know where to go beyond this conversation of like, yeah, it looks like the Switch 2 is probably going to hike in price to up to 700 or 750. That's going to suck for a lot of people. Maybe even software ends up going up as well, right? To a hundred dollars and we'll see what that ends up being. But yeah, like, this is the thing that we've been talking about forever in terms of what will happen if Donald Trump becomes president. What's going to happen to the economy of Donald Trump if like the, I Forget the project 2025. Right. All that shit goes into play. What's going to happen to the country and what's going to happen throughout the world? It's happening. And so like beyond this, we're going to have to wait and see. On. All right, where does Nintendo land on this thing?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I mean, the whole. Keep your politics out of my video games, like right now. Keep your fucking politics out of the video games. Keep your politics out of all this shit. This is the politics at play in video games and it is not good. Not a single person is going to be happy about this news. Am I wrong? Like, is there anybody that's like, yeah, this is what I wanted from this.
Barrett Courtney
It's going to revitalize the economy, Tim.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
It's. This is so freaking bad, man. And like, look, we're talking about Nintendo here. This is a very like to. I mean we are on a video game show. So just to like bring it back to the video game conversation, I think we cannot make it any more clear the video games matter less than so many more things going on here. Right? Yeah. But to talk about the video games, it's like Nintendo's going through it right now. Just because they are the ones launching a new console. They are the ones, dude. So much going into this. Guess what. Yeah. Horrible luck.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Follow up to the most successful Nintendo console they've ever had. Like what? The most successful. One of the most successful iterations of a game franchise they've ever had. With Mario Kart getting a follow up. Like there's so much potential here for record breaking things for Nintendo, but then also just for a whole audience of gamers to be able to jump into a 4K generation of, of gaming and all that. That's so exciting. And it's just mired with all of this nonsense. But guess what? Like Nintendo's just the focus of this right now because it's all happening at the same time. This is going to affect everyone. PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Steam, Deck, all of it. It's all going to be affected on the hardware and software side. And it's not like, oh man, we're gonna have to wait and see. It's like, oh, it's happening now and it's only going to continue happening. And that's very scary because at a certain point there things are going to break and people will stop buying these games. Well, that will not be able to buy the games. And just real quick, last thing I want to say here is we're talking about a Nintendo Switch, a Nintendo console launch. What's probably going to happen here, no matter what goes on here, this thing's going to come out with tariff boost prices of like hundreds more than we expected. It's still going to sell out because it's a brand new Nintendo console. But what happens next? What happens when the limited supply that they're able to produce and apparently they've been able to produce more than previous console generations, so what does that look like? I still do think it sells out, but after that I don't think they can maintain that level.
Tim Gettys
The numbers are not going to get there. No, right, like there's a conversation to be had, I guess in this. It's tough to have this conversation now, not knowing what the price is going to be yet, also just not knowing where the world is going to be as far as how long do these prices hold, how long do these tariffs hold, right? Like how all this shit goes down. But I do wonder how much this could spell doom for this generation of Nintendo. Like are we going back to the pattern of like, all right, one fire generation, one trash generation, right? Like are we going to be talking about being back, I'm not going to say back to the Wii U days because like the marketing for the Switch to outside of price has been very, very, very good. But when people are looking at, oh, this thing is, let's say $650, all right, we're talking about a $650 piece of hardware and $80 games. Who the fuck, who wants to do that, right? Like, who the fuck is going to be able to keep up with that? You're not going to see the same software sales, right? The software sales that we talk about month to month for the Nintendo, talking about Animal Crossing hitting 50 million, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe hitting 70 million. All this, you're not going to see those numbers not at these prices. And when you're not seeing those numbers, what does that do to, to Nintendo as far as what they, what they can do, what they have to do? The changes that you had to make, what projects do we see canceled, what layoffs do we see happen from the company? Right. Like this is going to have a trickle down effect on Nintendo in a way where what could have been the follow up, like you're saying to Nintendo's most, I would say successful console generation of all time. What could have been like an effortless. All right, cool alley oop to the Switch to just run it back again? Nah man, this shit's about to be tough. This is about to be a weird generation because yeah, like people aren't going to want to spend this much money to, to buy, to buy video games. It's getting out of hand.
Barrett Courtney
Sorry, Barrett, you popped up and yeah, it's just like it. Nintendo is very, A lot of people are mad at them this week, even before this news this morning, right, because of their prices. Like, I don't know if you saw the like treehouse streams where just everybody in chat is spamming like lower the price, lower the price. And they're being definitely looked at by a lot of people who don't want to look at the world beyond video games as like kind of the bad guys. But yeah, like you guys were saying, it's just like the, of course, the week this happens, they have to be the first ones to do this. And this does spell a lot of bad things to come, not just in the video game industry, but in all industry and in all of our wallets. And I think like focusing anger on Nintendo, which I have weirdly still seen this morning, is being mad at a symptom and not the root cause. And I just hope that people can kind of take a moment to step back and be like, yeah, corporations are going to be corporations and they're going to try to jump prices up and stuff. But you know, shout out to Neo Aoshi in the chat who put in a link that reminded me that like they were trying to get around some stuff and they were trying to anticipate for tariffs. I don't think they anticipated for how high these tariffs were going to be. And they were also trying to move production from China, which they knew were going to have like the most amount of tariffs to Vietnam to try to cut that off a little bit. Right. And it ended up being insane for even Vietnam as well. So it's just, it's, it's about to Be real bad.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, yeah. And I mean to your point, it's like the, the people that are pointing fingers at Nintendo right now, like they don't get it because. And it's also, it doesn't matter. Like I'm not, I'm not trying to point fingers. Let me take back what I just said. It's not going to matter in a couple weeks when it's everybody and when the prices of PlayStations even currently are going to go up and Xboxes are going to go up and all that. Like there's probably supplies of stuff that are already made and things are already in stores in America and stuff. And it's not going to affect it. It's going to hit a crossover point where the line will be crossed if we continue going this way, which I don't think there's going back from where the pointing, blame and Nintendo. None of that's going to matter because it's everybody. It's going to be industry. Yeah, yeah. So it's like none of that is to matter like to the, to what you're talking about, about the Nintendo generational thing. Like obviously it does really suck. I, I really do think though that that is like again to the point I just made least of the concerns just because it's going to affect everything at the very least, like on the software side, like there are, I mean, I guess Mario Kart is, I mean, absolutely huge and Donkey Kong. But the majority of games we're talking about this year are cross gen. Right. At least games that are imminent are cross gen or that we were like hyped for from Nintendo. So like they can still put those out, but even those. Are those going to get insane price?
Tim Gettys
I mean, we'll see. Like this is going to be a wait and see thing as far as. Yeah, we're talking about 80 games. Do. Yeah. Do we see those even go up over time? Right. By the time we're, we're talking about game prices next year, are we talking about. Oh man, you thought Mario Kart 8 for 80 or Mario Kart World for $80 is bad, man, 3D Mario is now 90, GTA 6 is now 100. Right. We're talking about even more expensive software. We'll see. Like, I think it'll, it'll be in a fascinating wait and see to see how companies try to adjust and how companies try to spread prices out to figure out how to make up for these prizes jumping up. But yeah, like shit is going to get bad. And yeah, to your point. Yeah, like the Nintendo Thing is not just going to be Nintendo affected. Right. But like I don't think it's good for anybody. Like we're going to see this shit go down for everybody. And already like there's been that post pandemic even though I guess we're still in a pandemic. Right. But like the post pandemic dip of we're already not seeing the same amount of people play video games during that hike and that's only going to get worse now.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And also we're seeing consoles get price increases as opposed to price cuts already. Yeah, right. And there are examples of that of.
Tim Gettys
The opposite in Japan back in August.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah. But we are also seeing increases in ways. So Greg, you're popping in here.
Greg Miller
Yeah. Well I'm coming in this way to be serious, not be crazy.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Right?
Greg Miller
Yeah. You know I'm watching on a delay through YouTube so blessing might have made my point, but I wanted to come in on this because you were like, you know, are we going to see that trickle down the price increase to cross gen games and everything else? And the answer is yes.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Right.
Greg Miller
Like that the idea, you've already set the stage and the point right, of like everybody's about to sell fewer things because the cost of goods is going up on these big things. So yeah, what already exists is going to go up as well because they're trying to make up for that. But this is then my Greg way as you talked about in the thing, right. Is 16 minutes of me literally screaming in the car and ranting and raving and kind trying to rationalize through all of this and what we're talking about but how bad this is going to get. And like I think what's interesting and I propose in there is I think you know, Matt Piscatella when he was on talked about games being a mature market now right after Covid and as many people who are going to come into games have come into games and we've plateaued. I don't think you're gonna see that change. Obviously I am interested to see if there's a Covid like effect where it is the people who once we could go back outside went away from games and did other stuff. I wonder if you're gonna see people come back inside because of this in play. Animal Crossing and War Zone and Fortnite and the stuff they already own or already get free to play, not invest in the ecosystem in terms of buying new hardware. But if it is that hey, games are now, we said 80, now they're actually 85 90. Hey, there's this new thing. New PlayStations cost us money. Like, there's so many ramifications off this ripple. And to your point, yeah, like Nintendo's the carry canary in the coal mine. Like, this is the start of this actually affecting it. Which is hilarious because yesterday, of course, when Andy and I were talking about tariffs on games daily, people in the chat were like, hey, stick to games. Keep politics out of this. And it's like, politics have come to you. They have come to you. As we've been saying for quite some time that they would and they would. This is what happened. But here we are.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, yeah, I think. I mean, to that point, you're going to see, I think the problems that we already have compound until I think the Map Piscatello conversation of. In the conversation that I've seen games industry biz and plenty of other folks have. As far as how many people have. How many of the gaming audience are playing games that are older than 6 years old or whatever, right? Like, I think that's gonna balloon even more as far as. All right, I'm not able to afford new hardware. And guess what, a lot of people coming up who are interested in video games, they are way more interested in PC gaming now more than ever. And like, when we're talking about a company, I'm going on a track, but stick with me, right? When we're talking about a company like Riot, who put out Valorant, that is free to play but also very scalable, and you can play it on a shit piece of hardware. You can play it on an advanced piece of hardware, right? Like, I think those are the games they're going to thrive, right? The free to play. Hey, I can play this on my like, toaster PC and cool. I can spend more money for skins or whatever, right? But like, hey, at least out of all the games, this is the thing that I have access to because either I'm playing this or I am spending $700 on my Nintendo Switch 2 and $80 to play a Donkey Kong.
Greg Miller
And I think, you know, this is another one I put in the Greg way, right? Of like, it'll be interesting. I think us to kind of funny have always been very bullish on the Xbox strategy. But what does this do to them where suddenly it is that, okay, well, there is an entry point to play the latest Xbox exclusive and it's $10 and you can play it on your phone.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
No, but it won't be. Well, yeah, I mean, that, that's. That is the other thing too. Is like these tariffs are not only going to affect the things the tariffs affect, they're then going to affect everything else at a. We need to then make more money. Like Game Pass is going to increase its price like they have to or else the games won't be made. Like that was already a thing of like these games budgets are ballooning and they need to be able to make the money back. And so all of this is going to be a negative effect on gaming as a whole. And I don't think there's any way around it. Go for it.
Greg Miller
Greg De Joser in the chat says, sucks to be in the US it does. But just remember, sadly this will affect all of you as well. Maybe again, maybe not in prices, the tariffs don't happen, your games are cheaper, yada yada. Remember how many games the US does buy. And so, and I'm not doing me wrong, this isn't me being proud or swinging back at you. I'm just trying to wake you up to the reality of like when all this happens and people stop buying new games and then these companies stop funding as many new games and these studios then have to lay people off, then close these studios and like the ripples on this are insane on what we're about to get into if we lock down and commit chorus. And like Tim said, I imagine it's too late to turn back. But again, this administration never knows what the fuck they're doing. So I could easily say, oh, we didn't see that. You know, well Biden set up this infrastructure we didn't think about and so that, that. So we'll do this and room.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, any. Oh, I want to get some super chats about this and let's see. Thank you very much, Greg. Let's go.
Barrett Courtney
Another question I have for you. Just as you look at some super chats. Do we think we see a collapse in this industry?
Tim Gettys
I mean I think it would define how you. I think it depends on how you define collapse. I think you might see in other dark times in the industry, but I think it's the thing where you always see shit in waves, right? Like there are good times and then there are bad times. Right now we are on our way. Well, I mean we've already kind of.
Barrett Courtney
We'Ve already been in a terrible time.
Tim Gettys
For the last five years and I'm saying we're gonna get worse. Like you are gonna see this get worse before it gets better. And I'm very fascinated. Like one of the questions I asked, I forget if I asked Adam Boys. This actually was like, what does. I think I did. What does a healthy video games industry look like? And like one of the things that he talked about was the fact that like, yeah, like you have to see, you see things adjust, right? You see things change, right? Like economy changes, the way people interact with video games changes, trends change, all this shit and things need to adjust to it. Yeah, like things are changing right now and things are getting fucking worse right now because of the terrorists, because of the mix of bad economy, bad politics going on and shit just getting expensive in terms of video games becoming more complex, more expensive to make all this shit we're gonna get out of that, we're gonna get to the other side, but is gonna get bad before it gets.
Barrett Courtney
So let me rephrase. Like maybe not collapse. I don't. Do we think we ever bounce back from this with the ramifications that we're about to go through? My thing the same level that I.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Honestly feel like it's almost a moot point because I don't think it's about video games. It's like, I think that what you're asking we can just apply to life.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And I think that the answer is it's either going, we're either going to be okay and video games will be okay, or we're just, we're fucked and there's no coming back from this. And if that's the case, yeah, video games are fucked. But like I do think that they're pretty, pretty tied together. Like I think that video games are going to continue in whatever way that they can. But whatever way they can. To your point, for the last couple years, like, we're already collapsing. Like we're already in that shout out.
Barrett Courtney
To the board game industry that is all absolutely collapsing before our eyes in the next like couple of weeks.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Oh shit. Yeah. I mean again, that's the point, right? It's. It is not. The video games are just one aspect but. And we can talk about them and I think we can use that information to reflect everything else. You even talk about PC gaming and all that or like. Yeah, the more people are playing on PC, it's like PC parts.
Tim Gettys
Oh for sure.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
You know what I mean? Like literally anything. And so we have.
Tim Gettys
But I think again, it's like, I think it's an adjustment, right. I think you're going to see companies maybe do the right thing of. All right, we got to scale towards worse PCs. Like we got to make sure we can scale towards the things that people actually have. That way we can make those games. Like the sucky thing is this might mean, and again the way that this is going to affect everything because I want to say this might mean you invest even more in mobile gaming because people are going to have more access to that.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
But even then, aka98 says looking past the obvious doomerism 1 second slash third order effect I'm anticipating is a huge rise in mobile gaming as so many people need smartphones, even smartphones, their prices are going to balloon.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, but the fact is that people will always need smartphones. Right? And like maybe you aren't getting the high end smartphone, maybe you're getting the mid end smartphone. But I think on the software side, if you're a game developer, you might have to start making that your target because a lot of people are going to own those. Like I, I, there's going to be so there's gonna be so many dominoes. That's the thing is we just saw so many dominoes get created before our eyes of the dudes coming out in the last day. Right. And like is going to have to, people are gonna have to adjust. Developers are going to have to adjust. And I'm not saying that's a good thing. I'm not saying that's like a, oh man, you just got to get with it. No, I'm saying that that is what's going to happen because otherwise the people who don't are going to go away.
Barrett Courtney
And this isn't one for you to answer in the moment but I guess my question just is how do you adjust when people completely stop buying because they, they're just at the point that they can't afford shit anymore free to play.
Tim Gettys
Like that's the thing that I'm saying is like, and I'm not saying I like that. I, to be clear, I am, I hate all of this shit.
Barrett Courtney
I'm not saying, I'm not saying like, oh, like free to and stuff. Like I, I think that is a very, very, very small band aid on a wound that is going to kill the industry faster than yes.
Tim Gettys
And I'm saying, and I'm saying that is a path. Right. I don't think, again, I don't think all paths are going to be a thing of like oh yeah, just go free to play. That's going to fix everything. I am saying you cannot keep putting out games for 80 on the most expensive platforms and expect to hit the same sales. So you're going to have to do other shit. And like you're, you're gonna find that A lot of those pass though are gonna still gonna lead to destruction. I don't, I don't. I'm not somebody who has the answers on this.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah. Okay. There's a lot of super chats. I want to try to get to them. So we got Bear King away saying we just need to go back to playing our backlog of games. I mean. Yeah. Like I do think in the, the sheer entertainment side of this there's answers. Right. Like us, we'll have games to play. We. We will be fine as gamers. But we're talking about the business of it all and the future of games and like that. That's scary. Elijah says China already had tariffs on the US as well, so this isn't unprecedented. Foreign policy gets super messy. It definitely sucks though. Love you guys. Yeah, exactly. But like to Greg's point, like the bulk of gaming is in America in terms of sales for, for games like this. Like obviously the bulk of gaming is worldwide and Asia specifically has huge audience but it their focus.
Tim Gettys
America is a very big piece of.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
The pie in terms of like full price game.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Purchases like what we're talking about here.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Demon Hacker says, do you think this will be historical? Like the crash of 83? I mean. I, I don't know. I, I think in, you know, Barrett was like bringing up like the crash, whatever. It's going to be a completely different crash than what we saw in 83. Completely different for completely different reasons. I, I don't know if better, worse, I don't know. Whatever. I don't think it's comparable to the 83 situation at all. Yeah.
Barrett Courtney
And in terms of, you know, we keep talking about the, the whole picture of like the thing that we've lived through at least was 2008. Like this is going to be different, probably worse than that, but like it's.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Supposed to be way worse than that. Yeah.
Barrett Courtney
Oh yeah. But it's. It like it's hard to say right now. It's all scary and sucks.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
James Peter says the main thing we need to know is cost of living is going to skyrocket. It sucks. Love you guys. Keep up the great work. Yeah, that's the thing is it's like again, the video games are like, no matter what way you look at it, the smallest piece of this pie when and the cost of everything's going to go up and people are going to have to be spend more on other things and then being asked to spend more on video games and they're not going to be able to.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Bander senses Great's point about Trump going back on tariffs is a great point. Nintendo's pushing the pre order to see how the cards settle one way or another. Live to die says you may not F with politics, but politics will F with you. That's a Philip DeFranco quote. Eric Eden says content creators will be hurt by less money in pockets. Has kind of funny had business conversations yet. We love you guys. Hope this helps a little. I mean, we're having the conversation now, right? Like, that's the thing is it's like it's all intrinsically tied together of a healthy gaming industry means a healthy gaming audience means healthy gaming content creators. Like, it's all hand in hand. Otherwise it's us having these conversations every day and that sucks. And we've been having these type of conversations, change the exact nouns we're talking about or whatever, but we've been having this for years now and it sucks. I love talking about my time I had with you in New York playing Nintendo Switch 2 games and our experiences with mouse mode and all of that stuff. I hate talking about people getting laid off. Oh, you know, but guess what? Unfortunately that's kind of where we're at. And like, hopefully we push through it and hopefully people kind of like stick to it all and like, to the points being made of like, maybe this results in changes being made. At a certain point, the people around Trump, enough of them are going to go, yo, this is affecting us and something will have to change. That's at a point that I don't understand that level. You know what I mean? I don't understand the solution here. Is there one or is the world just fucked? Wes?
Tim Gettys
I mean, yeah, I mean, yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
George Corona the third says, Just curious how y'all think GTA 6 now factors into all of this. Still the biggest launch ever. If it's over $100 now. I mean, we've been talking a lot about this in New York and stuff, but like, I think before all the switch numbers, the $80 Mario Kart, I still was thinking we're going to get $100 GTA 6. Once we got that $80, I was like, we're a hundred percent getting a hundred dollar GTA 6 now. It's like, oh, I think it's. It could potentially be more depending on how this all shakes out. I still think that GTA 6 is likely to be the biggest entertainment launch ever. But there's so many factors that can get in the way of that that we might not even be talking about entertainment launches and that sounds doomer as but like, I don't know, man. I don't have any reason to think otherwise.
Tim Gettys
I mean, I'm still in such a wait and see mode of like, all right, let's see what the next few weeks look like in terms of if. If shit gets reverted or like, I don't know, there's so many things that could happen before we get to GTA 6. But already like based off of the. Yeah, based off of Nintendo being like Mario Kart 8 is going to be. Or not 8. Mario Kart World is going to be $80. Oh yeah, I'm with you. Like from there. I'm like, oh yeah, GTA 6 is going to be expensive as fuck.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
New Mateo says please encourage everyone to call their senators. We only need one flip for Congress to take back tariff power. That sounds like some real action item stuff.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.

Devil May Cry on Netflix is out now the entire season 18 episodes of the latest from Adi Shankar and Alex Larson, the writer of this franchise. They've worked collaborated on a bunch of different projects. Adi Shankar also executive produced the Castlevania series on Netflix. This is part of his Adi Shankar animation series of things. He has his bootleg universe that's been going on for a long time. You know, directing Dread3D which is absolutely amazing. One of my favorite movies of the last decade. Bodied the the rap battle movie.
Tim Gettys
Does he. Is he not doing MGS or is that somebody else?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
No, that. That's. Oh man. He has three names. Jordan Voight Robinson.
Tim Gettys
You're right, that is Jordan Void Roberts.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah. Anyways, Adi Shankar. Awesome. We've had him on the show many, many times. Obviously, Devil May Cry, very near and dear to my heart. This is something that I've been. Oh, and recently he put out that. The Ubisoft one as well. Yes, that.
Tim Gettys
What was it called?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Captain Laser Hawk.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, Captain Laser Hawk. A blood. What was the Far Cry Dragon. Yeah, it wasn't like a Blood Dragon series.
Barrett Courtney
I think so. Yeah, that sounds right.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I. I haven't had time to watch that full series. I've seen clips, and I'm like, I need to get to this, because this is very.
Tim Gettys
My Captain Laser Hawk, a Blood Dragon remix is what it is.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
There we go. There we go. But Devil May Cry is a franchise I do really love, so I've been looking forward to this. And I was very upset because, you know, sometimes my life is too many good things at once, and it gets stressful. We're in New York and I'm like, oh, Devil May Cry is coming out. I'm playing the Nintendo Switch too, but I want to watched Devil May Cry. Then I was like, wait a minute. I have a long flight. I watched the entire season yesterday. Oh, yeah. The entire season. And. Oh, man. It's good, y'all.
Tim Gettys
You tell me. I've only seen. I saw. I watched the first episode, so Devil.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
May Cry on Netflix, I'm gonna give it a 9 out of 10. Wow. I think it is amazing. And I think that without spoilers, episode six is what really kicks it up into. Oh, and before then, I'm not saying like, oh, it doesn't get good till then. I'd probably give it like eight up until then. But it contextualizes the entire season in a way that kind of blew me away. It's an amazing episode of tv.
Tim Gettys
How many episodes is it overall?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Eight.
Barrett Courtney
Okay.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Ends in a way that I'm like, I want season two. Now, as a Devil May Cry fan, I think it does an amazing job of taking all of what we're familiar with, but giving it a new style. Obviously. Very inspired by the early 2000s. The soundtrack on this thing is fantastic. And I use that. That word in all caps because it has Crazy Town's Butterfly. It has. Oh, my God. I'm blanking on the answer now. Limp Bizkits. Rolling. It's the theme song.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. All right.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And that energy is kept up throughout the ENT series. But in addition to that, you know how important this is to me. It features a lot of Devil May Cry music, actual music from the video games. You gotta love that, right? It's not canon to the games. Which I think was a very, very wise call. This is them trying to tell a new story, taking all the characters and worlds that we know, but, like, kind of, I think, making it make more sense and being a little bit more accessible to a new audience while not alienating the audience that Devil May Cry rightfully already has, because it is a very fun world and story that they have building there. But I think that this was clearly made by people that care about the world and the characters and the game. So many scenes of this, so many action scenes feel like playing the game, and that is such a compliment. On top of Devil May Cry, love, there's just so much Capcom love. I don't even want to get into a lot of the, like, little hidden things they have here. Some of the costumes designs of some of the main characters, even, like, just look at them. Just look. Look deep at them and try to be like, where did I see that before? Because you definitely have seen it somewhere. And it might not be where you expect stuff left and right in this to. To just kind of find joy in story. Simple but fun. And I think there's a surprising amount of depth to it in terms of the protagonists. It is not just Dante's story. It is Dante and Lady getting kind of equal screen time. And I think they do a really good job throughout the season of. Of making both of their characters matter and having, like, a really nice conversation back and forth between the similarities between them and then the differences between them while telling their own stories, but also a shared story as well. Yeah, I think this is just a major success. This is definitely another win for video games being adapted to movies or tv. And that's great. I love that stuff. And again, like, when you have people that are passionate and really care about translating video games to other mediums, that's when the magic happens. And I would say there's some magic happening here.
Tim Gettys
That's awesome. Yeah, I've only. I've only seen the first episode. I'm somebody who. I. I like Devil May Cry, but I'm not necessarily Devil May Cry person, if you know what I mean. Like, I played the. Was it DMC6? Was the last one? Was five. Played DMC5, most of it. I actually never. I played, like, 70 of that game, and I was there for the vibes and the combat. I think I did the same things with Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3 and DMC Devil May Cry, actually. So, yeah, I played more Devil May Cry than I think I even realized opening up. But I'M somebody who's like a fan of that style of game. And there's something that I think episode one does where as I'm watching I'm like, man, I should, I should boot back up Devil mcry. Like, there's something about this world that really works that is just like, dude, just give a dude a sword and some guns. Ebony and ivory. It's just like, you know, let me slash up some demons. And I, I appreciate it. The, the story premise reminded me of you, Hakusho as well. Just as far as like, there's a demon world. Demons are coming through. You gotta stop them. The portal, if it open, like, not that if it opens too much, but like certain demons can't come through because they're too big to make it through the deep. Make it through the portal. As I'm getting these, these world set up details, I'm like, man, actually I might with this because this reminds me a lot of the, that I loved before, like yu Hakusho.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
So I, I am definitely booting up. So definitely cry this weekend. You're right. Like, it puts you in that mood of like, oh man, I gotta get back to this. I want to, to play this and yeah, awesome. I hope you stick with it because I, I think you're gonna really vibe with it. Like some of the, I don't even want to hint at it, but some of the story beats that. They get to. I'm like, wow, this is very, very smart. And I expect that Alex Larson is a very, very, very smart writer. And I've loved every project I've seen that he's been a part of. And this is no exception because it's, it's the perfect example of one of my favorite things, which is highbrow, lowbrow. You know what I mean? It's a freaking cool guy saying dumb one liners, killing demons while Limb Bizkit plays. Right? But we can add some depth to that and it doesn't need to be the deepest thing ever. But sometimes the simplicity with just a little bit of like, like a, like.
Tim Gettys
A good vibe, a good style, a good like aura to it. Like I think it does aura so well. As far as. Yeah, you're right. Story, simple care. Even Dante. Like once, once Dante starts talking, I was like, oh, he read like he's like a Peter Parker type character.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And it's Johnny Young Bosch, man. One of the goats. Like it's, it's the, like the second Black Ranger Lelouch Code Geass Nero in the Devil May Cry games. Like legendary. Legendary. Yeah. I, I really loved my time with it. I did not expect to watch it all in a day. You know what I mean? I, I, I'm not typically a binger like that, but when I watched four episodes on the plane and then I got home and I'm like, I'm finishing this thing. Like, like that's how into it I was. I don't think that it's, it's perfect. I, the animation isn't always what I want to see from it. Like sometimes there's that, that like 3D CG looking stuff and like it stands out and it doesn't look too good, but like that really doesn't get in the way. I'd say overall they worked within their means with the animation and I, I think that this is not an example of style over substance. I think the style and substance perfectly match and that's awesome for a Devil May Cry anime.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah.
Barrett Courtney
I just want to shout out, you know, I, I know Kevin Conroy was in this.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yes. And he kills it.
Barrett Courtney
Oh my God, here I, and it's like, like that alone. I'm like, I'm not a huge DMC guy, but like, I kind of want to check that out for him and then also shout out the, the homie kfbf. Ryan Colt Levy was also in this somewhere as well.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Great, great voice cast. Really, really fun characters. They introduce as well. And man, if you're a Devil May Cry fan, when the credit song hits, it's gonna hit you. It's one of those things where I never skip intros. I'm an intro boy. I like it. Essentially, if a show is a bad intro, I'm just not gonna watch the show. But I always watch the intro. I very rarely watch the entire credits. I watch the credits every single time. But I'm a devil McGrath. Sicko in that way. But anyway, Adi Shankar, you crushed it. I'm proud of you. This is awesome. It lived up to all of the hype over the last couple years. So your season here's hoping for season two, baby. Moving on to story number three. Bungie's Marathon finally emerges from the shadows to tease something. This comes from Wesleyan Poole at ign. Remember Marathon? It's Destiny developer Bungie's next game. And it looks like we're finally about to see more about it. Marathon is a PvP focused extraction shooter set on the mysterious planet of Tau Ceti. Four players inhabit the bodies of runners, cybernetic mercenaries who have been designed to survive the planet's Harsh environments, Exploring the lost colony that once inhabited the planet's surface. It's been quite a while since we've heard of Marathon. In October, Bungie released a lengthy development update video that shed light on Marathon's mechanics, but stressed how early in development the game was. Player character models were at that point still coming together, while enemy models were still in early state. Now, though, half a year later, it looks like Bungie's finally ready to reveal what they've been working on. A tweet from the official Marathon accounts revealed a typically cryptic image and accompanying garbled signal noise. As fans have noticed, there is some. I don't know how to say this, ASCII as the.
Tim Gettys
I don't know.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
You know, I've read it a million times. You know what the hell it is. Footage from the debut Marathon trailer given this is Bungie we're talking about. A developer known for its mysterious teasers. Oh my God, that's right. The I Love Beast stuff was them for Halo 2 back in the day. Hidden clues and Easter eggs. There's probably much more here to discover, and fans are already working to find out what it all means. Either way, it very much looks like it's finally happening for Marathon after what's been a troubled development.
Tim Gettys
A rain shadow is saying ascii Aski.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I would have never, never thought that. You know, you're right though. I believe you, everybody.
Tim Gettys
It was nice to see like Marathon Takeover, not just the Marathon page, but then like I believe the PlayStation page, like the official PlayStation accounts also changed their banners and like the PlayStation blog as well. So like they're trying to build up to something. I hope we get there as far as getting hype up because I can't imagine any other PlayStation game right now that has, I guess like more people against it. Because I don't want to say there's not hype for Marathon because I do think that that Bungie has a separate audience that is excited for whatever they put out. But coming off of Concord and coming off of just general vibes, people are not into the ongoing multiplayer strategy that PlayStation's been trying to attempt. And so I'm very fascinated to see whatever this is. Once we get a trailer or a drop or whatever, is it going to move people? Is it going to turn people?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Ryan W. In the chat saying, Grub is saying next week okay for this tease. So, hey, okay, a lot of answers to your questions, at least initially. I think we might know next week because I. I do think with. With Concord, it was interesting a game that we're going to talk about for the rest of our lives. Because the debut for that thing, right, like the real debut, like the, the when we saw the gameplay and all that stuff, I, I feel like the overwhelming sentiment was like, oh my God, what the are you doing? Like they're talking about, oh, there's going to be these videos every week and here's the game. And like the way they deep dived into it, the impression was like, oh, this isn't going to work. And then people got hands on it and it was like, this game's surprisingly not bad.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
You know, like even going as far as saying it's a good game, it's a fun game. And then it came out into a world that wasn't just looking for.
Tim Gettys
That wasn't looking for it wasn't looking to pay $40 for it. Like it just did not hit on that level that it needed to whatsoever.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And so I think next week is going to be that moment moment for Marathon potentially. If this right where we're gonna get that first look, I think the way they present this game is going to be incredibly important because we all look back at Concord and what they should have done. We said it a million times. We've now talked to people behind the scenes on this. Like they should have done something more similar to what Apex Legends did. I've let people play the game and let that lead the conversation. It doesn't need to be a shadow drop or any of that stuff. But like, like that Concord needs to be a thing. Word of mouth's not the right word.
Tim Gettys
But like it has to come from, I think the mouths of the community and the mouths of people that are looking forward to playing a game as opposed to us seeing it end a state of play or a PlayStation showcase and being like, oh, okay, this is not what. Not that Concord ended. I forget where Concord was.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
But like it started a state of play.
Tim Gettys
Did it start the state of play?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, it was the state of play essentially.
Tim Gettys
That can't be how you present this thing. Like you gotta I them teasing it outside of any word of an upcoming state of play gives me more confidence already than Concord. This needs to be its own thing. It needs to have its own beat. And yeah, like I, like you said, right. I think for me, the biggest complaint, the biggest fault with Concord was that they showed and they didn't let people tell. And when you just show a multiplayer game and go, oh yeah, you'll have different heroes and they'll have abilities and it'll be this, it'll be that, right? We watch it and we go all right, cool. Like I don't know really what to make of this. Also the characters look generic, but if you get this into the hands of people, hopefully you have the, I don't know, the Bungie creators of the world. Or like you have the IGN previewers of the world be like yo, this is something that you should check out. I hope that's what they do this time around.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, me too, me too. Story number four Miyazaki promises that the Switch 2 exclusive Duskbloods won't distract from software from single player games. This comes from Jordan Midler at VGC Hidetaki Miyazaki has said that the recently announced Switch to exclusive Dust bloods doesn't mean FromSoftware is moving away from what they're known for. The Dust Bloods, a brand new multiplayer focused game from software, was announced during Wednesday's Nintendo Switch to Direct. But now speaking as part of the Nintendo Creators Voice series, Miyazaki explained how the Dust Bloods came to be and his interest in the PvP? Ve genre. He revealed that the Dust Blood started as an original Switch Switch game before Nintendo approached them about Switch 2. QUOTE I've always found the PvPVe structure very interesting. It allows for a broad range of game design ideas while also letting us leverage our experience of designing challenging enemy encounters. However, he was quick to reassure fans that FROM isn't moving away from the style of game that made it the development giant it is today. Quote As a side note, please allow me to address one thing. As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn't mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer focused direction with titles going forward. The Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was also announced and we still intend to develop single player focused games such as this that embrace our more traditional style. The game will also have over a dozen characters to play, as characters will be customizable. He also explained that the rat creature seen at the end of the trailer will function similarly to the Fire Keepers in Dark Souls. They remain in the hub area, providing the player with advice and guidance. I suppose you could say we're trying to do something a little Nintendo esque. In the spirit of partnership, we tried something cute for a change. Although I will say this character is actually an elderly gentleman. He's gonna be a weird little freak.
Barrett Courtney
With like an old man voice. Fuck yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Fuck yeah.
Tim Gettys
They're like we gotta do something. Nintendo. Yeah, let's let's have a character like an animal rat with wings. A rat with wings and it's a freak. It's an ugly gentleman. Why not Miyazaki man Never change. I man, I am. I have such mixed thoughts about the Dust Bloods because at the end of the day I am very excited about believe Miyazaki when he's talking about well one, the fact that he's directing this game. Insane. Right. But I believe him when he's talking about oh, there's interesting ideas to explore PvPVE Souls games and. And Bloodborne and Elden Ring. I've already had elements of that. And so for him to be like all right, let's go a bit harder with that stuff and make. Make an experience that is revolved around it I think does make a lot of sense and I think can be very good.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Right.
Tim Gettys
I expect it to be another Elden Ring Night Reign situation if not a bit more interesting with the fact that it's a more. It's a unique world. Right. This isn't based off of a pre existing ip. However, man, I wish that like in that reveal trailer that we got the idea of a switch to like full fledged single player from software thing. Single player in the loose sense. Obviously there's multiplayer in it. But that would have been such a damn like you got him. And I'm still like damn like you got it. But I. I don't know, it's just. It's just a weird thing to balance.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
For me, you know? God, I wish we had so much more time to talk about all this stuff and the beauty is here. Kind of funny. We'll have endless conversations about so many of these things. But it is wild to me how great that Nintendo Direct was and how great the experience of playing the games was at the event we were at.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
But the more we started getting information from the Internet, the stuff that we weren't told or weren't getting hands on with, it was like what? Like I will never forget and we'll talk about this later. But Dan Riker popping in the elevator being like Mario Kart's $80 and we.
Tim Gettys
Were like, we're like what?
Barrett Courtney
And then he ran away often and.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Then there was later it was just like, whoa, whoa. Blood Dust. Blood Dust. Blood is a multiplayer game.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. It's funny because I think Roger was the one that said it and I was like, ah, they probably mean multiplayer. Like all of the games have multiplayer. And then you look like. I started looking at Twitter. I was like, oh no, it is multiplayer multiplayer.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And so it's. It's interesting, right? Like they're just like, kind of like this like, oh, h. Monkey paw stuff. And again, we'll talk a lot more about this in the future. I. My takeaway from this is if it's multiplayer. I am really bummed out. It's exclusive specifically to Nintendo Switch. Yeah, it just. That seems like a very, very poor call.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, I, I agree with that. I agree with that. I will say this looks awesome though. This looks awesome.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Story number five, Astrobot movie could be on its way as Sony's absolutely considering an adaptation. This comes from Rachel Fidus at Game Rant. Piggybacking on the huge success of video game adaptations over recent years, which include the Last of Us and Amazon's Fallout. Sony's now looking to broaden its video game horizons even more with an astrobot movie or TV series. In an interview with Variety PlayStation producers, lead aside quiz Kizzleback, Kizzlebash revealed that the company is absolutely considering a movie or TV series adaptation of the beloved video game title Astrobot. When asked about how PlayStation Productions decides which game should get adaptation treatment, he explained that Astrobot picked up numerous awards last year, including Game award for Game of the Year and the DICE Award for game of the Year at the DICE Awards. So it was built up to an audience of enthusiasts. For us. It's okay. We've got established. Have. It's okay. We've established one of our. Sorry, let me say this again, Ross. It's okay. We've established one of our franchises as a great game. It's starting to get a built in audience. It's winning awards. Those are very early indicators for us to want to try and grow that franchise and grow that ip. God, that makes me excited.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, dude.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
You know what I mean? Just over the movie. TV suicide. Sure, cool, cool. Whatever. Grow into the franchise. Let's go more Astrobot. I think what people have seen in Hollywood is that video game adaptations, if done right, can actually be very popular and they scale very well. That's been a big sea change that I've seen in the last five or six years since we really started to come and deliver some great content. Because of that, there's a confidence level the film industry seeing for one. They're seeing that some of the great creative ideas of stories are coming from video games. And the first one I think of is Astro.
Tim Gettys
Well, you didn't love the narrative. You didn't. You didn't love the character development of Astrobot.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Astrobot has sold 1.5 million units as of all. But you get this stuff. Initial thoughts?
Tim Gettys
My. Here's the thing, Tim, because you had opinions last year, in a couple years prior.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
About the design of Astrobot. And as time has gone on, I think I've come around. No to your side.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
No.
Tim Gettys
I'm not as extreme as Tim about it. I don't think Astrobot is ugly. I don't think Astrobot is like, oh, I don't want to. But it's. It's.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I've never said that either, by the way.
Tim Gettys
Yes, you have. I think you said he's ugly.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
No, he's. It's just. It's uninspired. It's generic as hell. That's it.
Barrett Courtney
If I ever find the clip.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
If I ever. That that is me being like, oh, I know. But I'm just want to clear like my thoughts on Astrobot is that it's uninspired and generic. And that is so sad for the most inspired 3D platformer I've played that.
Tim Gettys
Wasn'T made in terms of gameplay. Right. Like, that's the thing is they nailed everything with Astrobot except for maybe like, like, I don't know, a little bit of. A little bit of a pizzazz. You know what I mean? Like, get some better villains in there. I don't want this green alien guy. Now, I say that to say that an Astrobot movie or TV show or an adaptation, I am not as excited about it. Unless they do the thing where they have all. They have all the different PlayStation characters represented as Astrobots. If this is just Astrobot and it's like a minion thing and they're just chilling, just the robots in the fucking boss bosses that we got in the game, that's just gonna be whack, man. It's just gonna be whack.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
So here's my thing. You're absolutely right. Yeah. But what's interesting here is they could go the PlayStation route of like having all the other guys and that'd be really cool. And yeah, but I'd say this. That would be even like the cherry on top to what I'm about to say. I don't know that they go this direction, but yeah, they. Oh, Astrobots are in real life and it's a fucking Garfield movie. That's gonna fucking suck. But I do think they have an opportunity if they're not trying to have this be a billion dollar franchise. If they just put out this movie like with an understanding of like trying to hit a specific level of audience. It could be Cool to make a movie about these little guys inside a PlayStation 5, you know, and like kind of like go through the GPU and go through all the different areas and like make it like an adventure within a PlayStation. And like, I know people like, it's just a commercial for PlayStation. Yeah. Guys, sorry. It is what it is. But they can make that good. Because guess what? They did that in video game form. I think they can do that in movie form of like have it kind of teach audiences about how this thing works and stuff. And I think it could be interesting that way. And I think it could be very visually entertaining. And I think obviously we know the music is awesome. Like that could be a very fun experience. That can easily just take the plot of Astrobot and. Or Playroom even.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And just like adapt that. I think they could make that work. It's going to take very talented people, but like, I think they got that.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. I think the. My main worry with that is of course PlayStation. Very popular brand. Everybody knows what PlayStation is. But is it so powerful that you can make a movie about the PlayStation console itself? Like, can you make a PlayStation a character in that way?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I mean, I think, I think we're there. I think you can only do that.
Tim Gettys
With something like it's funny watching the studio, the Apple TV plus show last week because like this gives me hints of the. Of the first episode of that where it is like, what kind of ip, what kind of brand makes sense? Like, what kind of brain do people have that connection with? Right. And I think Barbie is such a good example of like, all right, there's a character there. There's a like generational, like many generations of grew up Barbie, all this shit. Right? PlayStation. Does PlayStation have that? Can you show a normie a PlayStation? And like they get goosebumps because they're thinking about their childhood. You know what I mean?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I think so. I mean, I think. Plays Yes. I mean, I know the answer is yes because it happened to us.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
You know, I think around the generations of PlayStation. Yeah.
Tim Gettys
I guess I'm thinking of your pitch as like just a PlayStation 5, but if you were to go through a PlayStation inside the PlayStation 1 and then the 2 and then the like and then. But you would still have to put the IP in there. I have to get to a PlayStation 2 and I have to see Ratchet.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yes. And look, and I think that like that that could work and that's probably what it would be. But it could even be okay. I, I could see it as a Wreck It Ralph. Type situation. And maybe we are going through different playstations and things like that. But I do think even just like the console boot up sounds and like, think a bit more of Astro's playroom as opposed to Astro Bot, where Astro's playroom, like, all the little guys were in there.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
But like, they weren't the. Rescuing them wasn't the focus. They were just kind of around and like little homages or little bits and.
Tim Gettys
And bops.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I can see that happening. And like, I think that's all you really need. Give. Give people moments to pop off, but have a really heartfelt story about cute little guys, you know what I mean? And find some. Like, maybe they get redesigned here. Maybe they fix the problem.
Tim Gettys
Maybe they make. They would have to.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
God damn it, too.
Tim Gettys
I mean, they would, right? They did it to Mario. They're going to do it to Astrobot.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
You're right.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
You're right, man. If they redesigned Astrobot, bless, that would be huge. Crazy. But if I wanted to know some really small news, where would I look?
Tim Gettys
You would go to our last news story, the WE News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Thank you very much. Here's some WE news for you from Noble. According to Inside Insider Gaming, Eidos is pitching a new Deus X game to external partners and publishers. The game's different to the 2024 canceled game. Publishers believe Deus Ex is too niche at this point or aren't willing to take on the financial risk.
Tim Gettys
I'm tired of y'all. All right? Stop. Deus Ex. I'm sick of it, all right? This franchise means so much to people, including me. Just make a new Deus Ex or just leave it alone or give it to somebody who would make a good one.
Barrett Courtney
Same with Titanfall. Leave it alone.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Leave it alone.
Barrett Courtney
You guys were gone. But there are more. There are more rumors sparking up that Titanfall is coming next year.
Tim Gettys
Next year's crazy.
Barrett Courtney
I know. It's fucking insane.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
From Mario 64 Switch. Two game sizes have been revealed via the Japan Eshop. Mario kart world is 23.4 gigabytes. Jesus Christ, man. That game's gonna be big.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
If you want to hear our thoughts on it, stay tuned to the Gamescast. Donkey Kong Bonanza is 10 gigs. GameCube. Nintendo Classics are 3.5 gigs. Super Mario Party Jamboree is 7.7. On the Switch 1, it was 5.3. But that makes sense because there's a lot of new content that we got to see. Yeah. Did you. You know that there was a whole bunch of other Mario Party stuff that we could have played and we didn't.
Tim Gettys
Wait, really?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I was watching a bunch of like, IGN videos. I'm like, oh, man. Yeah. We could have played a bunch of Mouse Mode stuff.
Tim Gettys
That's so funny.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
We missed out.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Kirby. And the forgotten land is 5.7 on the Switch 2. Whoa. It's 5.8 on the Switch 1.
Tim Gettys
Interesting.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And that's interesting cuz that also has a whole new world.
Tim Gettys
A whole new world.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And like, I got to Play.
Tim Gettys
And it's 4K, right? Like, aren't these. Aren't all these games higher resolution?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah. Enzo sold 1 million copies in its first early access week.
Tim Gettys
We've been seeing Enzo stuff pop up on social media. I've been seeing it everywhere. This is going to be big.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. Do you know what Enzo is?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I don't.
Tim Gettys
Oh, my God. We don't have time right now, but basically it's. It's a new Sims. Essentially, it's a Sims game, but it's really realistic.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Okay.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Scary.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. No, it's. It is scary.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Path of Exile 2 Dawn of the Hunt launches today with a new huntress character class and free cosmetics through Twitch Drops. Very cool. I know we are running long, but I want to get to the super chats we have today. Dr. Joel87 says Dread3D was directed by Pete Travis, not Adi Shankar. My bad. Audi was a producer on that. And that's all we have for your. Wrong. Let me delete these guys. Cool. Let's go through the chats. We haven't got to. Nin. Nin says, can someone help get the ad version of grading the Nintendo Switch to direct Gamescast on Spotify? Appreciate all the Switch 2 coverage this week. I'll have to look into that. Phil Silva says bless. How does it feel to know you started the Stars in the bank madness? FYI, my shirt is ordered. Tim, I don't know if I should thank you.
Tim Gettys
We're still selling the shirts.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Tim Gettys
It's past April 2nd.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
The date doesn't matter.
Barrett Courtney
The date was really like the beginning. Everything before that date was just Preamble, Y'all, the tour has begun.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
God, I hate this so much. Golden Spider says it's not as if. And I wasn't aware of the tariffs until today. Everyone has known they'd be coming. And despite that, they announced the price. They could have said, we will not be announcing the price at this moment, but they did not. It is very interesting that they did that. My theory on it is that 450 is the price that they wanted it to be. So getting it out there now, it's like, then if. If things get horrible and it has to be $800, Nintendo will be able to be like, we wanted it to be this, but now it has to be this. You know what I mean?
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Because 450 is an entirely reasonable price for the system. And in my opinion, anybody that is. It doesn't seem like people are upset about. It doesn't seem like rational people are upset about the price of the console. The price of the games is fucking obnoxious.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
And like, that is a problem. An $80 Mario Kart. What the fuck are we talking about? But Yeah, I think 450 from Nintendo is. That's just where they're like, they're kind of just putting their flag down. You know what I mean?
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
New Mateo says for love, that's all. All that is holy. Call your senators. Golden Spider says. So I really doubt Nintendo will be raising the price responding to what he already said. We'll see. Diddly says Vietnam told Trump they want to do 0% tariff with the United States of America. New Mateo says when he sells pardons for 2 million a pop, it's one thing, but going after switch 2 is too far. It's all a fucking disaster.
Tim Gettys
Too far.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Engaged Family Gaming says, which she was not alone. These terrorists basically shut down the entire board game industry. Like Barrett was saying earlier, Greg Bot says tariffs suck. But you guys should check out the Rivals BP Krakoa trailer and the crazy Emma Frost skin vid. And again, thick thighs save lives.
Tim Gettys
I think we. I think they did that yesterday.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Have you seen it?
Tim Gettys
No, not yet.
Barrett Courtney
It's crazy.
Tim Gettys
I've seen people reacting to it.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Check it out. Yeah, check it out.
Tim Gettys
You bring it up as we go.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Falcon says tariffs are also going to destroy Tabletop games. New Mateo says the people who want to only blame Nintendo are the same who won't call their senators.
Tim Gettys
Martinez in chat just says she's beautiful. I need to bring this up.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
A lot of questions. Filter. Franco has been saying, you may not mess with politics, but politics mess with you. Jake Collado says, what are your thoughts on NSO style game pass in the near future due to the backlash of the increased prices? I don't expect to compromise on prices. Nah. I mean, the closest thing we have is the nso. Like, you're only getting old games. They're going to sell new games because they need to game Pass isn't a way to make money. Like, it's not going to help the industry. It's only going to hurt themselves.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, I know a girl that looks exactly like this.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
That's amazing. I'm pretty sure Del Walker designed her.
Tim Gettys
Oh, really?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yeah, I can see it, brother.
Tim Gettys
That's my.
Greg Miller
That's my guy right there.
Tim Gettys
That's my guy. I love Del Walker. I see what you're up to.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
A lot of people quoting Philip DeFranco there. And then Jeff Cradock says, not defending tariffs. But we as gamers have been lucky and this was inevitable. The original NES cost our parents $587 after inflation. Games were 100. I don't ever want to hear the word inflation. I know I shouldn't be joking in a serious time, but I just hate the inflation talk. It's just like. It's like we know we get it. Things aren't the way that they used to be though. We need to talk about how they are now in comparison to how they are now with the things going on with how they're going on now. I don't give a fuck about Gone with the Wind. Don't ever say it to me again.
Tim Gettys
Gone with the Wind.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Don't ask about it. Calvin Perez. Six years ago I was in a room with Microsoft lobbyists telling government officials that laws would make their kids Xbox more expensive. Of politics ruined everything. Always has been. Kebab says, please don't apologize, Tim. We need these conversations. I appreciate you understanding there. Kebabs Omega Buster says, my birthday. Super chat for this Sunday. Thanks for the great times. Kf. Happy birthday.
Tim Gettys
Birthday.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Bogan Knight says shout out to Tim and blessing Rod for the great Switch coverage. Thanks for all you do. Thank you so much for watching and supporting it. Arjun Roy says, has anybody ever seen corporations reduce prices on luxuries or necessities after inflation periods? My groceries tripled in price during COVID and never went down. Same happened in the 90s. No, and that's the problem. It's like, yeah, this is just going to reset the new level that we're at here, right?
Tim Gettys
Oh yeah.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Not good. Not good. Melodic quest says RIP Kevin Conroy. Absolutely watch Devil May Cry to support him. It. I think every episode ends with the dedication to him. Gabriel Canada says Trump's the most expensive DLC in history. El Capitan says, what would you prefer? Prices go up for the switch 2 by 50 and games go up another 10 to 20 or have the switch to 700 in the game stay at 80? Jesus Christ, man.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, this is just.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
No, man, it's all bad. William Gordon says Nintendo's website where you register your interest to Pre order under FAQ now says first batch of invites will go out May 8th. So it seems like they're anticipating a month delay regardless of the tariff stuff, which I'm clearly is affecting all this stuff. This is, I think, easily Nintendo's worst rollout of information about console stuff that they've ever had. Like the facts. How did we have. We were there playing the goddamn system. How did we have so many people walking around talking about $90 games when that wasn't true?

It was a very confusing day. Yeah, like, it was a very confusing one of just like the amount of joy that we talked about the beginning of this episode and us not having the time to sit and look at the Internet and the Internet was seen like they were. Everybody was in a fray of meltdown. What is happening? Like, what are the facts? What are the. Being there and being like, hey, I'm having a great time, but also, I don't know if I should be. I don't know whether to be excited or whether to be scared about what's going on with this thing. Very weird mix of emotions. I have confirmed though, that Del Walker did not in fact design that character.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Oh, he did not.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, apparently he did a tweet that I think made people think that he was implying it, but he's saying, I did not make her. I'm saying I'm inspired to do the same with the character.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
It definitely read as if it was. But anyway, either way, supported either I support all of that.
Tim Gettys
No, I'm gonna play his next game.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
All right, cool. We just got a couple more here. Street Shadow says the Marathon ARG still going on too. It's a huge coordination involving twitch, Discord, Sony, etc. Supposedly the full reveal might be next week. It's exciting. Portland Kevin says Astro Cart, Astro party, PS All Stars reboot. Hey, I'm here for it. I think, I hope that their word is true and that they actually care about this little bot. And then shay's lay says GameFly is more valuable than ever now. Yeah.
Tim Gettys
Is GameFly still around?
Blessing Adoh Jr.
I guess so.
Tim Gettys
All right, Bet.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Dude.
Tim Gettys
I remember going to Family Video, just renting. That's how I played until dawn because I went to Family Video and I was like, I'm knocking this out in a night and a half. And I did that.
Blessing Adoh Jr.
Yes. Well, thank you all for a little super sized episode of Games Daily Today. We appreciate you. We still have a full day of awesome stuff. Of course, gamescast coming up, talking about all of our hands on impressions for Nintendo Switch 2. And then after that, the marathon stream begins with Chris Anka, who I think is in the building. That is very exciting. I mean, right now we know he will be later. But anyway, till next time, it's been our pleasure to serve.
