Welcome to Kind of Funny Games daily for Friday, March 13, 2026. I want your host, Blessing Ado. Yeah. Junior. Joining me is PC gamers Midas Whitaker. Midas, how's it going, man?
Midas Whitaker
Good, man. Thank you so much for having me back in the UK Is back in the building.
Blessing Ado
Yeah. Welcome back. Of course. Last time you were here, it was you and Jordan Midler.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
A couple years ago.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. It was a UK takeover.
Blessing Ado
Yes. So it's nice to have you back in the building. How you been?
Midas Whitaker
I'm good. I'm good over for gdc, just like everyone else, checking out some games, talking to some people, meeting some dope people. But obviously the highlight is being here.
Blessing Ado
Yes, of course. It always is. Right? Like, I love it because we're so out of the way. And so for the people that really want to show up, they gotta, like, commit to the Uber ride. You gotta commit to going a bit further out from where GDC is happening or to make it to us. But of course, we're honored that you want to come. Come through, hang out, have a good time. Of course. Talk some news.
Midas Whitaker
Oh, I love it. I feel like I'm actually seeing real SF where when you're just around a convention center, it's not really real. I want to see that gritty. I want to see the streets.
Blessing Ado
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. We brought you to the streets, for sure. How's your GDC been going?
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, it's been really cool. I've been on the floor talking to people, getting people's hot takes on video games, and some of them are bizarre. Stella, who was on yesterday.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, she.
Midas Whitaker
Her. Her hot take had me laughing in stitches. So it's all about. It's all about death stranding and Kojima being obsessed with feet.
Blessing Ado
Okay, well, yeah, that makes. There's a scene in Death Stranding where I was like, yeah, I see what's going on here. And you know what? I'm not gonna think too hard about it. I'm not gonna think too hard about it. But what was like, did she give any specifics? Was it. Is it the same thing I'm thinking about?
Midas Whitaker
So I'll be honest.
Blessing Ado
There's one scene.
Midas Whitaker
At first, she couldn't really think of anything. So I would say my hot take is. And please don't burn me down the whole Internet for this.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
But I was saying I don't really like Death Stranding. I was like, I don't want to play as a FedEx driver. I'm like, that's just not fun. To me. And then it made me think, is Kojima as genius as I've always felt or. Or does he just make games that just don't make sense to me? And then she was like, oh, actually hers is that he's obsessed with feet and he's got a foot fetish. So yeah, we went down this foot fetish rabbit hole.
Blessing Ado
Interesting, interesting. Now for people who don't know you, right, of course I've earnestly known you as Mr. Midas. But you recently, I don't know if it's too recently, but you joined PC Gamer. Like how's that journey been?
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, it's been dope. So yeah, my background, I've been a video game presenter for the past 10 years. Done stuff with like Baftas, done GRM daily, loads of cool stuff. And yeah, I joined PC Gamer almost two years ago now.
Blessing Ado
So it has been almost two years.
Midas Whitaker
It's almost two years in August and I've done some mad stuff like I've hosted out in Japan.
Blessing Ado
Wow.
Midas Whitaker
I'm obviously in GDC interviewing people on the streets making some really cool videos and yeah, man, it's just such a great team. I feel like PC game has really doubled down on video.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
In the last couple years because I
Blessing Ado
see you on the social a lot.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, yeah. So I'm doing long form ones. I'm working on a gaming documentary about video game music. Yeah, yeah, there's some dope stuff.
Blessing Ado
Really excited. I really want to see the documentary. I love video game music. Also, Paris is in the chat shouting you out, saying my man Midas is
Midas Whitaker
going on Mr. Lily.
Blessing Ado
Hell yeah, man. Well, let's get into it. Of course. Remember, if you're watching live, you can be a part of the show by super chatting in over on YouTube.com/kind of funny games. We couldn't do this without a producer. Producers over on Patreon. So shout out to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney the Psalm twining for now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some News. We have six stories today, Baker's Dozen, starting with our number one. Sony has been hit with a $2.67 billion lawsuit over alleged monopoly in digital game sales. I'm really reading from Austin, Manchester at Polygon. A tribunal in the UK is hearing a class action lawsuit against Sony for monopolizing digital game sales via its PlayStation Store, the BBC has reported. First filed in 2022 by Consumer Rights advocate Alex Neal, the Lawsuit argues that PlayStation owners have faced excessive and Unfair charges and via Sony's closed ecosystem. As it stands now, the only storefront available on PlayStation consoles is Sony's.
Midas Whitaker
Quote.
Blessing Ado
The result is that Sony can and does set the retail prices of all such content itself without facing any retail competition for digital content. The lawsuit's representative, Robert Palmer Casey said, quote, it allows it to mean to obtain monopoly profits from digital distribution, setting retail prices at what it refers to as its target margin of an excessive and unfair 30% above the level of the digital wholesale prices, end quote. The Lawsuit is seeking 2 billion pounds, that is $2.67 billion on behalf of an estimated 12.2 million users, which would equate to 162 pounds, about $216 per person. UK PlayStation users who have purchased a game from PlayStation Store over roughly the past decade are eligible. Sony argued that adding third party storefronts would pose a security risk, but did not specify how. It also argued that the sale of digital games helps to subsidize lower low margin hardware sales. The BBC noted the tribunal is expected to take about 10 weeks. Whatever the decision is, Sony's peers at Xbox and Nintendo will surely be paying attention as their platforms aren't too dissimilar from Sony's. Minus your people, man,
Midas Whitaker
it would have to be the UK on a madness again. But this kind of reminds me of what Apple. That same thing that happened with Apple is like if we're not opening up the storefront to everyone, the UK is just on smoke. They're like, pay your users.
Blessing Ado
Yep.
Midas Whitaker
I don't even know. It's insane. It's a lot of money.
Blessing Ado
It's a whole lot of money. And this is one of those things that's above my head as far as like what you are allowed to get away with when it comes to monopoly in the digital space. Right. When it is, all right, we are PlayStation. We're a closed platform, therefore we have our specific store on our closed platform because we want to funnel everybody through. Obviously. Because you want to make all the money off of sales. Exactly. You get that 30% off of every sale in that store. That's a lot of money that you bring in. Right. And then you also mentioned like the quote unquote security risk, which to some extent I might believe a little bit, but mostly I'm like, but it's not really that though.
Midas Whitaker
It's not that at all.
Blessing Ado
You can figure that out if you wanted to figure that out.
Midas Whitaker
Right. It's literally this is our store and we don't want anybody else selling on it.
Blessing Ado
Yes, See now this is fascinating, the part that I want to talk about because, like, there are ripple effects that this can very well have. The end of this article mentions that Sony's peers, Xbox and Nintendo will surely be paying attention. Xbox, it might be getting off scot free because the next generation of Xbox is going to be a PC. They talked about this this week. You're going to be able to likely buy Steam games, buy other, other PC store games and play it on your Xbox. So they don't got to worry about this. Nintendo very much will have to worry about this.
Midas Whitaker
And Nintendo probably end up paying the most because they charge more than anyone.
Blessing Ado
Yes.
Midas Whitaker
When it comes to their games.
Blessing Ado
And I couldn't, weirdly enough, I could imagine PlayStation, even though they wouldn't. They obviously would not want to do this. I could see it being the Apple thing of like, all right, maybe we find ways to. At least if you wanted to buy microtransactions without having to go to the PlayStation store, like, well, that Epic or whoever, whatever, other 30 third party vendors, like do that, like find ways in which you can do that. I could not see Nintendo opening up even a little bit as far as that. Like, I feel like that would be catastrophic on the Nintendo side.
Midas Whitaker
But it's also weird because it also changes the architecture of what a console is anyway. Like, I would never think to myself, I'm gonna go on my PS5 and open the Steam store. I'd love that as a PC gamer, but it's not something that I really see happening. So they probably just pay out. Just.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, well, like if I feel like if they do that, then they have to figure out a way to change it. And that's the interesting thing is like, I don't. What does that even look like? Like, would it be a thing of developers, probably bigger developers that have the means to do this, being able to find their own launchers and going, all right, you can buy Call of Duty, but you're going instead of going directly to the PlayStation Store. Like you can do that. Most people will likely do that. But here's an option. Like, as Activision, we have created a place that you can go to to buy Call of Duty and play it on PlayStation without actually having to get it off the PlayStation Store. That sounds insane. But like if this goes through, changes like that might need to happen in order to make this. In order to make this whole thing
Midas Whitaker
work well also, as well, is anybody actually really going to do that? Because Ubisoft has got a launcher, right? Yeah, they've Got a launcher. And I don't think anyone buys from it. It's like I want to. Everyone goes to where they want to play. I'm going to Steam, I'm going to PlayStation, I'm going to Microsoft. That's where my games are. So the only real way I can see someone like PlayStation who are really protective of their ecosystem is to maybe allow a Gog or someone else to come that they know is not really good.
Blessing Ado
Have to be storefronts that people have some kind of familiarity with. Or it would have to be, let's say, if Activision did it, just as an example. Right. Because they're the biggest. They're the company that has the most money, like the develop, the developer, publisher that has the means. Right. It would have to be a thing of like, all right, and we'll sell for lower than the PlayStation Store like we are. If the, if you're buying the new Call of duty on the PlayStation Store for $70, like a few months after launch, we're going to put up a sale so you can buy it over here for $60. Right. Get that, get those margins lower so you can then prep people to like, understand, oh, you can come here if you want to buy, buy this game. I don't know how, like there's a whole slippery slope we can go down as far as could other developers follow suit or what, or whatever. Right. That like, I think would take a lot of steps to get there. The other thing though is that if PlayStation loses this, I very much expect console prices to go up very rapidly. Yes. Like even more than they are right now. Because as they mentioned, and I believe them here actually when they say that having the, having a singular storefront for a PlayStation store, making that 30% off of these purchases is what allows them to sell console hardware at a lower margin. And we've talked about this for decades. Yeah. Like that's how this works for these companies. And so if they're not making all that money or if they're scared of losing that, like, well, all we got to do now is just put up the. Jack up the prices of the PlayStation 5. Jack up the prices of PS Plus. The thing, the places that we can turn those levers, they will find those.
Midas Whitaker
How can we live in a world that the PS5 is going to go up again? Like I remember getting consoles and they were always cheaper. You get them more expensive at launch and then the prices go down. If this goes through and the price goes up again, that's insane. But even more, I want to know who's getting all of this money? Who's getting this $2.6 billion? Are they, are they sending it back to the consumers?
Blessing Ado
Yeah, class action. So yeah, if they say what if you are, if you bought PlayStation games in the last 10 years, I think somewhere in this article they break down like with these class action lawsuits is whoever, whoever signs up, you know, you get your money, you get your $30 each or whatever, however much money they decide to give out.
Midas Whitaker
Yes. Insane.
Blessing Ado
You ever, have you ever been a part of a class action lawsuit? You ever get that check from Facebook that one time?
Midas Whitaker
No, I get those who have you had an accident and get out all the time in the UK if you got an accident and we can give you some money. But now never been part of one, but I might get part of this one because I buy so much PlayStation games.
Blessing Ado
I mean listen, $2.67 billion, that's a lot of money to go around, you know what I mean? Like we might get a buck or two. But yeah, that's a wild one. We definitely got to keep an eye on that. I want to bring in some super chats. Of course people have things to say. Just like irk the imp who writes in and says to me, the main issue with console digital stores is there is no way for a user to buy a digital PS5 games from another storefront and redeem it.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Ado
I mean that's the weird thing. Like this lawsuit would allow that to possibly open up like the potential of that to open up. Will that actually happen though, is the next question. Will people actually take the initiative to go now I'm going to create a competitor, the PlayStation Store on the PlayStation. Like that just. That doesn't sound feasible unless like you are an already super popular developer with one of the biggest games in the world and you want to go, oh, we'll just do this ourselves, we'll just sell it ourselves. That way we don't have to pay the 30% to PlayStation also as well,
Midas Whitaker
it also has that whole fact of say for example, someone buys a game on a Digital on PlayStation's digital storefront and then they have issues it doesn't load or they want to refund it and stuff. Is Sony going to take up that and be like, oh yeah, we'll refund people or we'll deal with all of that issue?
Blessing Ado
Probably not. Yeah, that's a really interesting question. I want to bring in another one from Omega Buster Triple six writes in and says, I think it's more about payment. So if you Download from the PlayStation Store in game purchases are required to be through Sony payment system. Third parties want to use their own payments payment systems, even if you Download via the PlayStation Store. And yeah, that's more to the Apple thing, right? The whole Apple versus Epic thing of, hey, we, we have all of the. Like you look at Fortnite and you look at the amount of money they make through digital purchases. In fact, all their money is made through those, like cosmetic sales battle pass, Right? Those microtransactions. You want to get more of that, like piece of the pie, right? You want to get a greater percentage of that. You don't want to keep having to pay Sony 30% because that's a lot of money.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, everyone just wants their direct cash right to their pocket. They're like, I don't want to pay anybody. A third party pay them extra. I just want all the money.
Blessing Ado
Yeah. And then we'll do one more from Cam 4748, writes in and says, always happy to see these big companies lose money like this. If they fire people when they're making money and fire people when they lose money, then effort. Let these MAGA corps lose all the money. Listen, strong opinion, but also like, I get the frustration, right? Like we look around and the video games industry oftentimes feels like it's on fire. When you're seeing studio closures, when you're seeing these layoffs, when you talk about Blue point on the PlayStation side or like whoever it may be, there's a frustration there. So, yeah, I, I told. I totally feel it now. Before we move on, Kevin, I want to acknowledge, because chat keeps going off about rewinding on YouTube. I don't know if there was a button pushed, but people are very frustrated about it. What is that? I think Chad is saying they YouTube. Is it that you can't rewind on the live stream? I think usually on YouTube you're able to like scroll through the video chat. What. What's happening? Why are you so mad? Because they're only talking about the rewind and it's throwing me off. Yeah, you can't rewind. Can we change that after the fact? Well, after the fact, it's just a vod, right? So that works. But yeah, no, I mean, like right now. Oh, I see. See if you can chat. We're trying to help you. Looking at the back end. I'm not seeing an option for rewind. Now. Here's what I'll say. YouTube, funny enough, you can rewind on Twitch, which is a new feature on Twitch. And Twitch is. Twitch is stunning on YouTube right now. Twitch is like, damn, that's crazy. You can't rewind. Damn, that sucks.
Midas Whitaker
Twitch is like, you ain't about that life.
Blessing Ado
Yeah. Twitch is like, damn, like it smells like broke over there. That's crazy. And so if you want to rewind, maybe head over to Twitch, but of course this will go up as a VOD later and you can scroll through there. But I don't think that was on purpose from our side. In fact, I know that wasn't on purpose from our side. I think maybe there was just a check that got like a box that got checked or something. Yeah, I. I don't know. I'll keep looking to it. Once I have a definitive answer, like if it won't be able to, I will let you know. Okay, perfect. Thank you so much, Kevin. While we're here, speaking of YouTube, Samson over on YouTube writes in with a super chat and says early birthday tax since I can't watch it live. Thanks to Kind of funny and chat for being a Daily highlight turning 32 with an MTG draft in 6 Pokemon pre releases for a cardboard filled birthday weekend. And Happy Birthday.
Midas Whitaker
Happy birthday to you.
Blessing Ado
Hell yeah. All right, let's move on to story number two. Legacy games media site Video Gamer has been removed from Google after pivoting to AI generated articles. This is Jack Coleman at the Gamer. Video Gamer is a games media site originally founded in 2004 by two university friends, Adam McKinn and Tom Ori. In the volatile games media business, two decades are enough for something to be considered legacy, and until recently the Video Gamer brand was rallying around a string of original interviews and excellent reporting. Then the site was acquired by Clickout Media, a Maltese company with ties to gambling and cryptocurrency. And before long, many of the editors responsible for video gamers recent uptick were gone. Shortly after, the rest of the staff was ejected in a bold pivot towards a site completely occupied by AI generated articles and fake editors. Video Gamer then posted an AI generated review of Resident Evil Requiem, with the obvious problem being that a review posted at Embargo Time has no content for a limited language model to steal. So the resulting review was a nonsensical string of words that included all of the pre release information the model could scrape, including pre order bonuses. The debacle was useful in that it prompted review aggregator Metacritic to release a statement where the company committed to removing any AI generated reviews and and blacklist outlets that submitted them. The editor profiles Populating Video gamer, which include ChatGPT generated profile pictures and fake social media profiles, are a deliberate attempt to mislead Google as the search engine prioritizes articles written by real people who are experts in the respective subject. This is probably what caused Google to completely de index Video Gamer, which no longer populates on the search engine when searched for. It's a sad end for a brand that's been around for so long. Video Gamers co founder Tom Ori, most recently editorial director at Eurogamer, wrote, quote, I remember making Video Gamer Pro G back then. Sat in the tiniest bedroom in a university house chair in Brighton. It was my entire life for a very long time. I hope people remember it for what it meant to people and not the abomination it is today. And quote, a really sad story.
Midas Whitaker
Really, really sad. I actually saw this when this was all going up. It was going all up on Blue sky and people were like, what is this review? And it's just insane. It's just the AI thing. I just feel like it just doesn't end. Like game journalism is such a, such a great craft and people work so hard to be able to write amazing reviews with their opinions. Really, you know how much time you spend on a game and really kind of putting your passion into the words of what it feels like right now just to turn into a. A chat GPT article.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
And I'd say the only positive spin on this, which is also part of a negative spin that Google would be like, all right, no, we're not, we're not having.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, we're gonna de index this. We're not servicing your content anymore.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, because it also as well stops other people to be like, oh yeah, let's just do that big. All of the big wigs. Like, oh yeah, let's. Let's just fire a half of the team and just get AI to do these reviews for them. So on that respect, it's good.
Blessing Ado
But dude, I feel like I am, I am aging a bit more rapidly recently with all the AI stuff. Like, I looked in the mirror the other day and saw like some bald spots forming and I was like, oh God, here we go.
Midas Whitaker
Like before, down two grays before I
Blessing Ado
came in, dude, I got like my first, like, my first like actual gray. Like, you know, I shave and so you don't see it, but like, I do. They're starting to come in a little bit and I'm like, oh shit. You know, And I'm blaming AI.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, me and you both.
Blessing Ado
Like, I have to talk about the shit every day and I'm tired of it, but it keeps being relevant and I, you know, this one's a heartbreaker because one, you have a site, video gamer.com which meant something to people.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
And over time degraded and was filled with this AI bullshit to the point where now it's like, now it's out of here. When we talk about this, of course you're coming, you're coming in from PC Gamer. Like, how does this make you feel as somebody who is working in games media? Right. Like me and you're both content creators and when you're. We're seeing an effort from businesses and corporations to go just replace them with AI. Like how does that make you feel?
Midas Whitaker
Honestly, it's scary. Like you, you're working super hard and you don't even know tomorrow if you're going to have a job because every. Everything's getting replaced with. One of the questions during GDC that I've been asking everyone is, does AI have a place in game development? Like, how does it have a place in there? And we always look at it on, on that scale, like people losing their job on the dev side. But to think journalists are going to start getting replaced with AI articles. It's just, it's just insane. Yeah, really, it's really, it's really heartbreaking. And yeah, it's a scary time. It's really a scary time working in, in, in games media. But over at peace again. We've got a really dope team so hopefully that our work kind of speaks for ourselves. It's like kind of funny. Got one of the best communities ever and people come because they want to hear what you got to say. When I finish Requiem, the first thing I came is I want to listen to what you guys have got to say about the game. So hopefully that will always kind of outshine all of this. But it's, it's a scary time, man. What about you?
Blessing Ado
Yeah, I mean, same, right. I think I feel blessed to be at a place where kind of funny can never be replaced by AI because of what you're saying. People are here for the personalities. They want to hear Greg be Greg. They don't want to hear, like nobody would want to hear two fake people having this conversation that me and you are having right now.
Midas Whitaker
Exactly.
Blessing Ado
And so like, I feel good from that respect. I feel worried about everybody around me, you know what I mean? I feel worried for the writers out there. I feel worried for the like, even the quality of the content because that's the thing Is like, you know, I think you can make the case of oh, but if I replace this, like, you people might not notice, right? Or whatever. And like I think for some things that might be true, but I think there's genuinely so much content that is made better because hearts and souls are put into it. And the more complex the stuff, the more human, the, the more human touch is required for it. Right. When I look at video games, I don't, in fact not even that. I don't think I know that an AI cannot make clear, obscure, even though they might have used AI assets. But it's different from the point you
Midas Whitaker
don't want to go down that road.
Blessing Ado
You know, placeholders, a whole different thing. Right. But like I know an AI couldn't make something with that much heart. I know an AI couldn't make a Tears of the Kingdom, right? Or a, like any of my favorite games, a G, A gta, San Andreas. I don't know why that's the example, but one of my favorite games, I just pulled it out of bag. I know that like we can't, that it can't get there and I don't want it to get there.
Midas Whitaker
It just can't give passion. And that's the thing, the reason why we love video games, the reason why we love this stuff is because the passionate. We're so passionate. Anywhere you meet a gamer, I can sit down and speak to a gamer about any game. Like I'll just say, oh, what's your top five games? Oh, Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games. And then you just go down a rabbit hole of the. That passion. And AI can't do that. It's not going to be able to give that passion. And yeah, it's just, it's a scary time. Like I'm really glad that Google found this out though, because it could, it could have gone in reverse if this was like pushed to the top. Every company is going to be like, oh yeah, we can just, just get AI.
Blessing Ado
It's like, oh, we get. Those are. If this was the opposite way and video gamer was able to find a way to game the system and go, I'll just make all these articles and they're able to just keep pumping stuff out and Google rewarded that. That would cause like such a ripple effect across the industry, I think. And so like, yeah, this is a really good thing to nip in the bud, but also a very sad thing for video gamer. A site that was once something that people cared about.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, yeah, really sad for video Gamer.
Blessing Ado
Let's round out. I was going to say let's run out. We have a lot of stories left, but I guess before we get to the break, let's do one more story. So, number three. Amid reports of a secret DLC for the Witcher 3 CD Projekt rules out further content for Cyberpunk 2077. This is from Wesley Yinpool at IGN. CD Projekt has insisted it has no plans for further Cyberpunk 2077 DLCs or expansions. Amid reports the developer plans a secret DLC for the Witcher 3. The Polish studio responded to one fan on social media who cheekily asked the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account when the game will get secret new DLC. Quote, we have no plans for additional DLCs or expansions. If anything changes, we will inform you all. Was CD Projekt's response. Not a surprising story at all, but just an interesting update to get to. To get from CD Projekt of like, hey, we're done. There's no secret dlc. Like, you'll get Cyberpunk. Whenever we put out the sequel post
Midas Whitaker
Witcher blessing, this breaks my heart. Yeah, I love the Witcher. I put like 600 hours into wild Hunt. Like, it's one of my top games. And I. I kind of knew it wasn't going to happen, but I lied to myself.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
Looked in front of the mirror, I was like, we're getting more. We're getting more dlc. So this really upsets me.
Blessing Ado
Well, this doesn't discount the Witcher dlc. Yeah, this discounts the Cyberpunk dlc.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. So I was. I'm like, we're going to get that. And I was like, oh, yeah, we'll get Cyberpunk as well. We'll get both. Yeah, we're going to get both. And this makes me wonder if we're even gonna get a Witcher.
Blessing Ado
Really?
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. Yeah, that's what. That's what it's done to me. It's made me think, yeah, the Witcher one, we're not gonna get any more. Although, to be honest with you, I still need to finish Phantom Pain. I haven't finished the dlc, so I need to jump back in that. So I'm asking for more dlc and I ain't even finished Phantom Pain yet.
Blessing Ado
Yeah. Wait, no. Phantom Pain is mgs. I forget what. Phantom Liberty.
Midas Whitaker
Phantom Liberty with. With Idris.
Blessing Ado
Idris Elba.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
Let me tell you, that was. That was that good right there. Phantom Liberty. That was fire. Like, that's What I'm talking about when I, like when we're talking about a video game DLC and like, that coupled with the whole Cyberpunk 2.0 thing. Oh, man. When I tell you that made Cyberpunk skyrocket to be one of my favorite RPGs, just period, so good. Idris Elba kills it as his character, right?
Midas Whitaker
Like England in the house again.
Blessing Ado
Come on. Intercept was one of my favorite actors, and so, like, it was lovely seeing him in the game. But, yeah, Cyberpunk just has the. The sauce. And I wish, like, the thing that. That makes this bum me out a little bit is that I feel like if we had launched with a way better version of Cyberpunk, more of the time and effort could have just been made, just could have been put into making content. Right? I feel like we could have gotten a lot more than. Than Phantom Liberty. Granted, Phantom Liberty was a lot. That was a big dlc, but they spent so much of their time fixing, fixing, fixing, fixing, and now we're at the place where it's like, damn, we're there. We made the game amazing. You guys fixed most, maybe not all, but most of the complaints. And I wish we could have been here earlier because now you're telling us you're done, and it's like, damn, this is where I want you to start cooking. This is where it starts. But hopefully Cyberpunk 2 takes in a lot of the lessons and a lot of the systems and mechanics that they were able to find out or they were able to figure out for 2077 and give. Give us the content that we deserve. That's my hope.
Midas Whitaker
I don't think I've seen a game be able to reverse any more than that. Like, the beginning launch of Cyberpunk 2077 was a duster house. It was insane. And the game's so good now. And that multiplayer mode that we. We always wanted, I'm so upset that it wasn't there because just going through Night City with a friend, that would be so cool.
Blessing Ado
And they announced it. That's the thing is, like, they canceled it after the game launched the way it did. And it's like, brother, if you. If you figured that out now, like, that, that shit would be fire.
Midas Whitaker
Exactly.
Blessing Ado
At least you would hope it'd be fire. You know, multiplayer expansions, hit and miss sometimes. But, like, I've been playing Yote Legends and we're still back, so, yeah, I would have loved that.
Midas Whitaker
But also, as well, it might be a good thing. Maybe they were like, actually, this ain't working. Let's just put the brakes on it and put it for Cyberpunk too.
Blessing Ado
Sure, sure. That could very well be the case. And I think they have a million projects they're working on now. And I know they're very open about talking about it. I forget. Is one of those projects a cyberpunk multiplayer thing that might be a chat question if you guys want to look that up for me. Because I feel like that's still on the table somewhere. At least I hope it's still on the table because I'm curious to see what that would look like.
Midas Whitaker
So I know they're doing the Witcher remake.
Blessing Ado
Remake. Yes. They're doing the new Witcher.
Midas Whitaker
The new Witcher. Witcher 4 for. I think as work started on Cyberpunk 277.2.
Blessing Ado
I think that's probably in like pre. Pre production.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, Yeah.
Blessing Ado
I think people are just saying it. Pretty sure it got canceled. Okay. Yeah. So I don't think. For some reason I thought they announced a new one. They announced another one, but maybe, maybe not. I kind of hope they do though. I want to see what that would look like.
Midas Whitaker
We need to row a night city together. Bless.
Blessing Ado
Dude, I just want. Actually, here's the thing. I'm gonna say it and I know how impossible it sounds. I know how dumb and impossible this sounds. Everybody, as I'm saying this, I just want a Cyberpunk 2077 GTA online style game. And I know that we're never gonna get that. I know that's like. What are you talking about? Like, that's so much work. That's all these things. Right? But like, that would probably be my perfect video game.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
If we got that, you would never see me again.
Midas Whitaker
Like legitimately, you say you just create a RP server for Cyberpunk Online.
Blessing Ado
Dude, I'll be rping. I like the way that I would. You would see me get into the character in a way you've never seen it before. I would take voice acting classes.
Midas Whitaker
Who would your character be?
Blessing Ado
Oh man, that's such a good question. I've not even thought about that part. I mean, I'd be a dude from the streets. Right. Because out of the three main character. Character types that they had, I definitely chose the street kid.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
So definitely be that.
Midas Whitaker
I tried Corporal once, but yeah. It just wasn't me. Street Kid just. Yeah, right.
Blessing Ado
Yeah. Corporal feels. It feels kind of dirty. I don't know. And who's the other person was from the outskirts, right? No, I'd definitely be a street kid. I think if they let me lean into this direction, I'd be a street racer. If I could be a street racer in the world of Cyberpunk 2077 and just like, you know, hustling dudes, all this stuff, right? Like, that's, that's the life that I'd want to live.
Midas Whitaker
I'd open like a Jamaican food truck.
Blessing Ado
Hell yeah.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
Hell yeah.
Midas Whitaker
Play blazing dancehall music. Like, that's what I'll be doing.
Blessing Ado
Dude, I'm jerk chicken. All of it. Like, come on. I'm all about that. I love that. Actually. That's. Actually, that's really great. Midas. We're gonna move on to story number four. Midas Whitaker
There's a world where legends race across city skylines.
Blessing Ado
Romance blossoms in glittering ballrooms. And there's magic around every corner. It's a world known to many as Great Britain. You've seen the action on screen. Now visit the real star of the show. Visit Great Britain. To discover more go to tripadvisor.com Great Britain and we're back. The more I think about it because like if I'm gonna be a street racer is then I think I then want to like spec into being like a hacker and I like cheat during races or like hack other people's cars. I'm creating My own game at this point. Right. Like, I don't think all these features would be there, but like as I'm racing, I want to be like, you know, type on my keyboard and you see a car explode. It'd be like. It'd be like what I wanted Watch Dogs 1 to be before we realized that like Watch Dogs 1 was just a regular video game. While we're here, I want to shout out some super chats. Lands writes in with a birthday tax, says they're turning 29 today. Happy birthday.
Midas Whitaker
Happy birthday.
Blessing Ado
And then sky writes in and says I can rewind on other streams but not kf. And then banner S then says, thank you for acknowledging our rewind plight. Bless the rewind. I've been informed by Kevin has been fixed. Kevin and Barrett were on it. They figured out whatever the issue was. And so chat this all fixed. I've never seen chat so like up in arms where every single time I looked up it was just a sea of messages being like, like rewind. Like I can't. Like I can't do this. At least we fix it now.
Midas Whitaker
Have you heard of Craig David before?
Blessing Ado
Craig David?
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
No.
Midas Whitaker
So he's a singer from the UK and he's got a song called Re Rewind. So I just thought everyone was just like trying to do a little banter because I'm here from the uk. Thought they was all talking about Craig
Blessing Ado
David or so all the Craig David fans were in chat. Hi to see somebody from the UK. Let's move on to story number four. Silent Hill 2 remake passes 5 million copies sold. So Konami is hosting a big old sale on the PlayStation Store. This is Connor McCarr at Eurogamer. The Silent Hill 2 remake created, created by Bloober team in partnership with Konami, has just surpassed 5 million sales worldwide. A big feat from for the once niche horror franchise. Released in late October 2024. The game brought us back into James Sunderland's wonderful green jacket and decrepit Pontiac Ventura. I'm gonna jump forward a little bit in this article and say to celebrate the passing of this impressive milestone, Konami is hosting a spring sale for a variety of Silent Hill titles on the PlayStation Store. Really what I'm here for is the 5 million copies for Silent Hill 2. That's really cool.
Midas Whitaker
It means we're no longer gonna be getting just Konami pachinko machines. Yeah, all of the great games they can see, they sell in. They're doing well. Let's get them back.
Blessing Ado
Exactly right. Like 5 million sales for a brand new AAA video game like that's nothing to sneeze as sneeze at that is. That is something that's meaningful as far as the decision of Konami to get back into the business in the greater way. And yeah, you 100% hit the nail, right? Like, I think they're going to keep doing the puching machines, but they're also going to make video games too.
Midas Whitaker
Also as well. With like Silent Hill isn't. It's popular, but it's not like a super mainstream game like a Metal Gear Solid.
Blessing Ado
So for Resident Evil even.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. So for it to sell that well, like and for a remake that's really, really good, it's huge.
Blessing Ado
Makes me think that we're gonna. I mean we're already getting multiple new Silent Hill games, but I think they're gonna keep turning out more. Especially we're seeing these numbers. Makes me really interested to see how. Oh, what's the new one called?
Midas Whitaker
That's coming out with like the first person he kind of want. It's got a black protagonist, right?
Blessing Ado
Yes. Silent Hill, Maine. But I'm so curious to see how that does. In fact, I'm curious on how Silent Hill F did.
Midas Whitaker
Silent Hill F, like Ellie from PC game on the team. She loved it. She was obsessed with it. And any person who speaks about it, just say to them, says it's like one of their favorite Silent Hills.
Blessing Ado
Damn. Townfall is what that was called, by the way. Silent Hill Townfall. I might give that one a shot. I'm like, not much of a Silent Hill person. Like, I booted up F a little bit to see like, all right, how does it play? And I did a stream of it and was like, all right, this is cool. But I didn't like fall into it. Yeah, Townfall has me curious. It's. It's incredible what having a black protagonist will do for me wanting to play a video game more. Because I'm like, I want to know this guy's story. I want to know what's going on here. Why are you in Maine? Like, let's figure this out.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. It was giving me like some deathloop energy when I first saw it.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Story number five. Original founders of Boss Fight Entertainment have relaunched their studio. This is from Diego Arguello at game developer. The original founders of Boss Fight Entertainment, a studio that was acquired and later shut down by Netflix, are launching the company as Boss Fight. Announced yesterday. The new studio is headquartered in Dallas, Texas. Leadership includes CEO David Rippey, Chief Product Officer Bill Jackson and COO Scott Winsett. Quote this is about bringing back the team that built Boss Fight, ruby said in the announcement. Quote We've created and scaled games side by side for well over a decade. Reuniting that leadership team under the Boss Fight name and returning to the principles that have guided us from the beginning is something we're incredibly excited about, end quote. Netflix acquired Boss Fight Entertainment Back in 2020, two months after the streaming giant acquired Oxenfree developer Night School Studio and Finnish studio Next Games and or the latter of which cost $72 million. Three years later and after launching Squid game Unleashed, which hit number one in 26 countries, Netflix shut down the studio in October of last year. At the time, Rippy described the situation as rough. Now Boss Fight is currently working on an unannounced title for PC and mobile platforms. Quote we intend to maintain a small, lean, core team focused on creativity and execution while leveraging trusted partners to help us scale team size as needed, winset said. That model allows us to stay agile while building games with the production quality players expect. This whole Netflix gaming situation been very interesting to see, right? As Netflix tried to get into video games in a bigger way, acquired a bunch of studios have now retreated. It's cool to see at least one of these studios rise from the ashes and go, no, we're gonna, we're gonna continue to live, we're gonna restart the studio, we're gonna keep making games. That's really good news.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, it's really dope to hear, especially when we're just talking about studios closing all of the time. Like, I haven't specifically heard of Boss Fight, but really excited to see what they're coming up with. The Netflix gaming thing is so bizarre. I was on Netflix when I was in the UK before I came up and I was scanning through and I was like, wait, you can play Overcooked on Netflix?
Blessing Ado
Oh, you can play a lot of things.
Midas Whitaker
Insane. I've never even. How does it even work?
Blessing Ado
Play immortality on Netflix?
Midas Whitaker
Are you playing it with your. Are you linking up a controller? Are you using a remote?
Blessing Ado
Like the games that I've played on Netflix, I played on my phone because they had an exploding kittens game on there and I love exploding kittens. And so I just played on my phone and then I know there are other mobile games that I was just like, you know, playing like a regular phone mobile game for more like bigger screen games. I actually don't know how that stuff works. Right. Like, are you playing overcooked on your phone? Like somebody Says Lego party is there. Yeah, I'd imagine that there's, there's gotta be some way to sync up a controller via Bluetooth or wi fi, but chat, let us know if you have any. Somebody says you can connect controller to smartphones. It has a thing.
Midas Whitaker
It kind of has a wider discussion as well about how difficult it is to really be in this gaming field. Like Google trying it with Stadia and what Amazon tried to do. Like, it's not, it's not, it's not for the weak. Not everyone can come into this gaming space and really dominate.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, I know, we see it happen. Like you mentioned. Right. But a lot of the big dogs think that they can get into video games and then they try to get into the video games and it's like, oh, shit, all right, never mind. Like, especially right now, we're, we're in a such a weird moment in the games industry where we've talked about a lot in the last couple years. The business has matured so much in a way where the graph was going up for so long. Right. The chart, that line was going up for so long as far as the amount of money the games industry is bringing in.
Midas Whitaker
That pandemic hype.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, that pandemic height, right. But like, I think somewhere in there that line started to even out. And even when that evens out a little bit, shareholders, investors, they're like, oh shit, never mind. I'm going to take all the money that I was putting here, AI. Let's put this into AI instead. Like, that is the move. And now we're seeing a lot of companies look at that evening of the line and go, well, like I, I was trying to jump in while the line was going up. And so Amazon is like, oh, never mind. Netflix is like, damn, never mind. Like, we thought we were going to make a lot more money from this. And so these bigger companies that thought that this was going to be a, a cash cow are realizing, ah, there's not, there's actually not that much money to be made here, at least as much as we thought we were going to. So. And they realized that it's harder to make video games than you think. And video games take longer than you think they take and require bigger teams. Like, video games industry is such a massive operation as far as the amount of different skills and talents and money that needs to make things happen. And people underrate that. People underestimate what that is. But Midas, as I mentioned, video games, big, big industry, big, huge. But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I needed to know about. Where would I go?
Midas Whitaker
You go to our last news story, the WE News channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Blessing Ado
I love the delivery on that one. Also, I want to do a. You're wrong because of course at the end of the show I want to do a self. You're wrong because Silent Hill Townfall doesn't take place in Maine. It takes place in Scotland.
Commercial Narrator
Ah.
Blessing Ado
Which I forgot. I totally mixed those up.
Midas Whitaker
And so UK again.
Blessing Ado
Hey, UK's in the building.
Midas Whitaker
We're in the building. Takeover.
Blessing Ado
Come on. Story number six is we news from Remedy Control Ultimate Edition and Alan Wake 2 will support the new PSSR. Really exciting Octopath series has sold over 7 million copies. We gotta go. Launches April 14th on PC. Have you seen this game? No, Kevin. Okay. Kevin has it. It's a new. We'll say friend like because we don't like the term friend slop. So we'll say friend like. I peeped the trailer a little bit and I just really liked the presentation here and I wanted to bring up the. The. The video up on screen. The trailer up on screen so people can see it. The Steam description reads, we Gotta Go is a co op horror comedy that'll scare the crap out of you. Literally. Team up to reach the only bathroom in a haunted mansion before your bowels betray you, scavenge your items, fend off ghosts and fight through cursed halls together in a desperate hunt for sweet relief.
Midas Whitaker
This looks so cool. Really, really cool. Some of these friend games I don't really jump into, but I could. Yeah, this looks hilarious.
Blessing Ado
This is like the concept of, oh, we just need to use the bathroom and we're fucking fighting through a horror like mansion so we can get to the bathroom is fucking hilarious to me. Like this is one that I think the guys need to play on stream for a party mode or something.
Midas Whitaker
An octopath selling like that. You know Octopath zero I'm obsessed with.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
Been playing on a Steam deck. It's so good.
Blessing Ado
You got to talk to Greg about that. Greg. That was his game of the year.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. Yeah. No, I loved it.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, more for you. Deep Rock Galactic Rogue Core launches Steam early access on May 20th. Another game that I want to bring up the trailer for Calx I believe, or CAL X. I don't know how they want this to be pronounced, but it's C. A L X is the title of this game. The Steam description reads, Flow across the warp. Corrupt corrupted planet Cyro Master Movement as the seeker, double jump, dash, levitate and grapple through atmospheric ruins, scan, solve puzzles and engage in measured combat in waves of stillness and frenzy. This game looks really cool to me. I love the art style here. Like it reminds me of a few games that we've seen recently. Reminds me a little bit of like Chance of Sennaar if you ever. If you've checked that one out. As far as like the art style, I know there's some other games too that this might be reminiscent of, but. Looks really cool.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, it looks different from what I was expecting. I wasn't expecting that type of combat when we first saw the visual. I thought it was going to be like a journey. Yeah, kind of thing. But yeah, combat looks cool. It's giving me arcadey returnal vibes with the shooting and stuff like that. Platforming looks fun. So yeah, I'll definitely check out. This is definitely a Steam deck one for me.
Blessing Ado
Oh, hell yeah. Too many sh. Also mentioned Sable. Sable is the other game I was thinking of as far as art style and then another game. If we can bring up a trailer for this one as well. Yerba Buena launches May 26 on Xbox, PS5 and PC. The Steam description reads, Dive into a surreal 1970s game world and save San Francisco from a sinister threat. Play as Barb and use the oscillator to capture and reapply the physical traits of objects to solve mind bending environmental platforming puzzles. I saw this one pop up on Social and saw the name Yerba Buena and was like, oh, that'd be funny if it took place in like the San Francisco neighborhood. Yerba Buena. And then I read the thing and I was like, oh, it does. That's fucking neat. Which is really fun timing because I makes me wonder if they made this announcement right now because of gdc. GDC is happening at Yerba Buena right now. So all the developers and like the games industry is there either way. Good timing for this announcement.
Midas Whitaker
Also, shout out to the NPC with the Afro. The Afro was looking real good.
Blessing Ado
And just shout out to the art style in general. Like these three games that we're talking about here, I think all have very distinct, really cool styles to them and I love looking at this and this is one for me as somebody who lives in the Bay Area, I want to check out, I want to see what they, what they do here with San Francisco. Like they have like a weird, like abstracted version of the city, like jumping through the Golden Gate Bridge. Just a lot, a lot going on. I mess with it. You know, originally the San Francisco area was called Yerba Buena. Oh, really? I didn't realize that. That's cool. More we news for you. Marvel Maximum Collection launches March 27th on Xbox, PS5, Switch and PC. Dave the Diver DLC in the Jungle launches June 18th. Surgeon Studios third game, Fixed Force, is now available in early access on Steam and Epic. Where Wins are meets chapter two expansion launches April 2nd or April 2nd. April 2nd.
Midas Whitaker
April 2nd.
Blessing Ado
I forgot to put the second in there. And then the Smurfs are joining sonic rumble on March 16th. And that is it.
Midas Whitaker
Did you ever check out the Where
Blessing Ado
Wins Meet a little bit, but, like, very quickly was just like, I. This is not for me. You know, neat in concept, right? Like this big open world action RPG that's free to play. I love that we're getting more and more of those, but yeah, wherewith me. And I was like, this seems like it's about to be way too big for me to try and dive into. Did you check it out?
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, I tried. I was the same. I jumped in it for a minute and I was like, oh, this looks really cool because I had so many friends. Like, oh, you need to try it. You need to try it. And I was like, this is giving me real gotcha vibes instantly. I was just like, yeah, I'm not gonna get lost in this world.
Blessing Ado
That's the thing. Like, I spent enough time playing Genshin Impact where, like, I saw the heights of it and then very quickly was like, I think Genshin Impact kind of ruined the genre a little bit, where I just saw too much of what the gotcha stuff was, and I wasn't getting enough substance out of, like, the writing and story where I was like, I don't think I ever want to play another one of these again. So, yeah, where winds meet. I was like, I've been here before and I ain't going back. I do not want to go back. While we're here, let's hang out in the super Chat section. We got time to answer some super Chats, so right in. Let us know what you want us to talk about. We'll start with Killian, who says birthday soon. Got a bonus at work. Was able to get a PS5 Pro with a disc drive for under $600. Works perfect. Always shop local slash mom pop.
Midas Whitaker
That is a great combination. Birthday.
Blessing Ado
Getting a bonus.
Midas Whitaker
A bonus?
Blessing Ado
Yeah. Again, a PS5 Pro. It sounds like you're just telling us all the good things that happen. Hey, first of all, good for you. Like, happy for you. Happy. Have an early happy birthday from me. Enjoy your PS5 with a disc drive like let us know what physical games you're playing on that thing and share that karma.
Midas Whitaker
I need some of that goodness as well.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, right. Mr. Ny to Cali says get ready for Microsoft to have same class action project Helix and then merging Xbox coding into Microsoft Store AKA the Xbox app is there is their plan to cut out Steam and reclaim the 30% fee and simplified dev time? Yeah, I'm very interested. I think. I think Steam will be on there and I don't. I forget if they've actually said it but I feel like we've seen images either leaked or whatever, but I'm pretty, pretty sure we've seen images of Steam on an Xbox thing. So like at least they have ways in which you can Circumvent the store. PlayStation doesn't have any way where you can do that. Nintendo doesn't have anyway. So I think Xbox might be able to get away with it.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, I don't think they've officially shown Steam there. I think it is like leaks. But it will just make sense for them because they're going to get all of those PC gamers who want a. Before the Steam machine comes out and want to be able to have Steam in the front room. Like makes sense.
Blessing Ado
Yeah. Let's bring another one from Clawmaster for FGC folks who are aware of the Ludovic situation, but he is being released today. He was. Oh, it's this one. He's. He was detained by ICE and the FGC has been raising money, spreading the word and fighting the good fight. He's coming home today. That's really good news. Did you see this one?
Midas Whitaker
No, I didn't even see it.
Blessing Ado
This was in the last few weeks where Ludovic was detained by ICE and the fighting game community. He's like a big fighting game guy.
Midas Whitaker
Right.
Blessing Ado
Fighting community rallied behind him. Right. Was calling for his release and all that stuff. So this is really, really cool.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. That's insane. And the FGC community are like. There's such a close. Such a dope community. So that's great to hear. Yeah.
Blessing Ado
We'll do another one from. Oh actually no, we caught up to the. Because the last one I have here is about the whole rewind dilemma. So we caught up to that one. We had some time to just chill.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah.
Blessing Ado
Minus what games you been playing recently.
Midas Whitaker
Oh so I just finished Requiem and I'm obsessed proper. I'm like, I don't. So bless. Yeah, I don't do first person Horror. So Resident Evil Village. Not for me. When I played gracie sections. All third person. Leon back. Resident Evil 2 remake is my favorite Resident Evil game. This might now be my second favorite Resident Evil game. Wow. Really enjoyed it. As soon as I finished it, I went straight back in for a next playthrough. And I don't really do that with resi games just because I don't have time.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
I was like, nah. Jumping straight back in.
Blessing Ado
Wow. Dude. Resident Evil Requiem is special. Absolutely adored that one. Right. And like I still. I think I still have it as my favorite Resident Evil game. But like I might. It might be the recency like hype of coming off of it, but for the heights I. I remember having with re2. Right. Like for me that was just such a special one. And the fact that I'm like looking at Requiem and having it at that height for me is huge.
Midas Whitaker
And Leon's just so badass in it. Like just rolling up in the porch.
Blessing Ado
The one liners.
Midas Whitaker
The Requiem.
Blessing Ado
Karate chopping. Infected.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. So yeah, that's that. On a plane ride over, it's like 10 and a half hours from the UK. I just wanted something comfort food wise. So I jumped back into Persona 5. Royal Persona 5 is one of my favorite favorite games.
Blessing Ado
Taste right there. Huh? That's taste right there.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, exactly. Come on. I don't have swag for no reason. Yeah, yeah. So I jumped back on that on the plane, was playing that on the Steam deck. Like I said, just wrapping up Octopath Travelers 0 and then I said, I said it to you when I saw you out. I am itching for crimson desert.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. I played the preview of it and the combat is just insane. Now a proper. It's weird because it's more. It more reminds me of a fighting game, how it plays than it does like a witcher.
Blessing Ado
Yeah. I'm excited. Like I feel like all the trailers we've seen and things I've heard about like the combat specifically has me excited to get into it and check that out.
Midas Whitaker
What about else you, what you've been playing?
Blessing Ado
Oh man, I've been playing a lot of Pokemon.
Midas Whitaker
Pokemon.
Blessing Ado
I'm playing redacted. I have like legit like two different games that are under embargo that I can't talk about that I've been like trying to get through. I. Trying to think of something I can talk about. Oh, go see OT Legends. Like come on. Like I. I've been so happy like every time, every time I jump into it because it's been Living up to exactly what I want it to be. Right? Like, they continue to kill it. Sucker Punch knows what they're doing with a multiplayer gear game. The missions are really fun. The different classes are really cool. We were streaming it yesterday, me and Roger, and like, I lost track of time so quickly because we were having such a good time that I forgot that I was even hosting the thing. And like, Roger was like, have you thrown to ads? And I'm like, oh, shit, yeah, let's go to ads. And like, we came back and I was like, shit, we don't have much time left because we're just so into this experience. And so I'm hoping that with all the games coming out, I'm able to. I'm able to continue to create space for Ghost of Yote Legends because it's one I really want to level up in and be ready for the raid. And then between all that, like, I have two games that are staring at me, and I kind of want to boot up both of them. And I know I'm not going to have the time. Esoteric Ebb and Slate Spire 2. Yeah, like, those are the two right now where I'm like, those seem like real, real blessed games right there that I know I'd fall in love with, but I'm also trying to. I. I can't play a million things at the same time. So I'm like, okay, let me. Maybe I should save those for when I know I'm going to have the time to really devote to those.
Midas Whitaker
So I really want to jump into Slay the Spire too. But I know how much you love Ghost of Tsushima Legends.
Blessing Ado
Yeah.
Midas Whitaker
Would you rate Yotei Legends better? Where would you.
Blessing Ado
Ooh. Than Tsushima Legends? I have not played enough to really say so, but, like, already I think I get the vibes out of. Of. Yes, already. I would say the hub area. I was kind of skeptical at first because when you hop into it, like, Ghost of Tsushima Legends had just a menu that would. You would navigate, you know, apply your gear and then go into the mission or whatever. Here it is. All right. You have an area that you can run around, hang out, like in a lobby with friends. Ian. Roger, we're playing the coin game where you have to, like, flick. Flick the coin.
Midas Whitaker
Oh, do you know what? I don't like mini games in games. That coin game is 1010. Love it.
Blessing Ado
So good, right?
Midas Whitaker
1010.
Blessing Ado
Me and Roger were playing it yesterday and like, if y'. All. If you check out any moment from the let's play the games cast plays that we did for Ghost. Yot Legends. Go to the very end where me and Roger play our rematch of the Coin game, because Roger has a moment where he pops the fuck off where both me and him were both like, yo, this is fucking crazy. And so I love that they added that in a multiplayer thing. They also, like, upgraded the. The. What do they call it? Bamboo Strike. And so it's fun to see that there. But the missions themselves, I think, are also very fun and very well laid out. So you have four of the bosses that are these fantastical versions of like the main game, like Yote 6 characters. And so you can go after the Oni, the Spider and a couple others, and you can do it in any order. Right. And so there's like, I think I want to say 16 missions overall and each divided into four missions between the different things. And so, yeah, you can hop in and just like kind of mix and match or like go back and forth between the bosses you want to tackle. So I like that I need to. I need to hop into the survival mode to see what's up with that. But, yeah, I think overall, I'd say it's at the very least as good. Probably better than Tsushima Legends.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah. Because I put a lot of time into Tsushima Legends, but I haven't even heard much people talking about Yotei Legends. Yeah, I didn't even know it was out.
Blessing Ado
I think it's just too many. I don't think this is the right time to release it. Yeah, I think they should have waited to release this for when it was a bit more free. Like, Marathon just came out. Yeah, I mean, like, all these games. Procopia. Like, I think people are just stretched way too thin right now with video games. Crimson Desert is on the horizon. Right. Like, you know, this is. This is one that I'd be curious to see. Even if it gets reviews. I know. I think somebody has in their fantasy critic. I think Mike has it on his famous critic list. I think it's risky because people are so stressed in right now. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets like five media reviews. Right. And, like, just not enough attention to it. But we'll see. Midas. Let's hop into kind offunny.com you're wrong where you write in. Let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong so we can correct it for those watching later on YouTube and listening later on podcast services around the globe. Let's see here. Let's See here, people are saying that it's Sir Idris Elba, but they misspelled Jetpo. You misspelled Idris? It's both an I. They're spelling Idris Elbow with an E. We don't do that here.
Midas Whitaker
Wait, when did he become a Sir?
Blessing Ado
That's a really good question.
Midas Whitaker
I didn't. Yeah, I didn't know that.
Blessing Ado
Let's see. Sal from Gamatsu. That's the homie says, hey, bless.
Midas Whitaker
You're not.
Blessing Ado
You're not exactly wrong as. You're as. You're just reading an article. But Silent Hill 2 didn't sell 5 million copies. It surpassed 5 million players. Konami were reporting sales combined shipments plus digital up until 2.5 million units. But since the game was made available via PlayStation plus game catalog this past October, they changed up the reporting to players since it now includes users redeeming the game via a PlayStation plus subscription. That is a fantastic wrong. Thank you so much for that. Usually I'm good at like distinguishing the sales versus players, but yeah, I missed it there. So thanks so much for that, Sal.
Midas Whitaker
And shout out to Kevin. Just showed Idris was knighted this year.
Blessing Ado
Oh, congrats to Idris.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, shout out Idris.
Blessing Ado
Hell yeah. Let's see. Yeah, people talking about the rewind. We fixed the rewind debacle. And then people are writing about the Sony lawsuit. Right. So these might be a little bit editorializing, but I'll bring in. Let's bring in the one from these pitches. Love Sosa, who says the lawsuit against Sony has to do with third party sellers not being allowed to sell digital game codes. Not about having third party storefronts on the console. Nintendo, Xbox and Steam allow other stores, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, et cetera, to sell codes for games on those storefronts. PlayStation does not allow this. Interesting.
Midas Whitaker
That makes a lot more sense.
Blessing Ado
That makes a lot of sense.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, that makes a lot more sense because I was like, PlayStation are not going to open up this their store to have other people come and sell their games.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, yeah, no, that would have been like. That would change everything. Yeah, essentially. And so.
Midas Whitaker
And everything's changed enough Bliss. I can just about keep up with what's happening.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, yeah. Usually I feel like chat. We would have had super chats about that. But all the super chats we're doing, we're about to rewind as we're talking about that. So.
Midas Whitaker
Listen, anybody who complained about rewind, please go and check out Craig David Rewind. That's no plug. Yeah, it's Not a sponsor, but it's an incredible UK song. I'm gonna play it for you after.
Blessing Ado
Okay. I want to hear that. We had a lot more content, a lot more videos, a lot more fun stuff happening right here on the kind of funny channel. So stay tuned through the rest of the day because right after this, a full. The full kind of funny crew. We're talking about our time at GDC and the games that we got to check out this week. And so you want to tune in for that. And then afterwards, we got some fun special guests in the building, so tune in for the whole day. Until next time, of course. Ivan Blessing Midas, thanks so much for joining me on this show. Where can people find you?
Midas Whitaker
Oh, thank you so much for having me. I'm at Mr. Midas Games on all social blue sky Instagram. You can check out my content over@PC gamer.com I do loads of videos over there. I've actually done a really dope video all about Metal Gear Solid and why it's such an important franchise. So that's in my blue sky. So, yeah, just check out. Come check me out. Doing dope stuff. And I'm almost. I'm always watching. Kind of funny. Anyway, so I'll just chat to everyone in the chat.
Blessing Ado
Hell yeah.
Midas Whitaker
And I need some food recommendations for sf.
Blessing Ado
Oh, man. Hot boys. That's the one that's in Oakland, so you're gonna have to go across the bridge. But, like, that's the one I always recommend to people. If you like a hot chicken sandwich, it's the best I've ever had.
Midas Whitaker
Is Oakland the hood?
Blessing Ado
Yes, but it's fun.
Midas Whitaker
Yeah, it's cool. I'm not scared of the hood. I just wanted to know.
Blessing Ado
Yeah, no, Oakland. Yeah, but, like, it's. It's good, though. I'm in Oakland all the time. It's the hood. Maybe a little bit. But, like, you know, it's all good. It's all good. You know what I mean? Here's the thing. Duro in chat says read skies. You're wrong. And they say it in all. All caps. Duro skies. You're wrong. It's something that I already, already corrected. Townfall takes place in a city, in a town in Scotland. Duro, I need you to time yourself out, all right? Don't all caps me unless you're sure about a thing, because you just wasted my time.
Midas Whitaker
Everyone's on smoke today. What's. What's happening with Chat, I usually.
Blessing Ado
So I think the rewind just threw everybody off and it threw me off. I'm not gonna lie. I was off my game today, but I'll get better. Midas, thanks again for joining us. Of course. Everybody enjoy gamescast after this and then the stream after that. But till next time, game D.
