I don't know if there could have been a hotter cold open than that. Yeah, like, I mean you're. These stories seem scintillating. You know what I mean?
A
I mean, listen, JRPG 3.0. I've been asking for it for that sounds wild.
B
I don't know what 2.0 is.
A
I mean, I don't know if he knows. We'll get to the story later.
B
Love it.
A
Because I got so many questions about when 1.0 transitions to 2.0.
B
Right.
D
It reminds me. It reminded me of when, you know, people started talking about, like, web three.
A
And I'm like, what, the run Web three?
B
Internet two. Yeah. Yeah. Exciting.
A
Golly.
B
How are you doing this morning? Bless.
A
I'm doing good. I'm tired.
B
Yeah.
A
At a late night last night, me and the homies went to get hot pot.
B
Oh, okay.
A
It was great. It was at a spot in Oakland called Mumu Pot, I believe is what it was called. Fire. Absolutely great.
B
And then after you eat that, you're like, I got quite the trek back.
A
Oh, my God.
G
Dude.
A
We got out at, like, 10pm and I left my stuff at their place because we were like, oh, when we finish hot pot, we'll have time to go back and play Magic the Gathering or whatever. And then we get back, and I'm like, guys, I got work tomorrow. I got to go. I, like, I don't live here. Like, I got to go somewhere. And so just got back super late last night. Didn't wake up early this morning to go to the gym. And so everything's kind of starting slow for me this morning, but I'm getting there. How are you doing?
B
I see your shirt and it says hot boys. And all I can think about is how. Is how we them boys.
A
We them boys. I saw you tweet that the other day.
B
We them boys.
A
Was that last night?
B
Yeah.
A
What happened?
B
Cowboys are losing 210 against the Philadelphia Eagles. Couldn't be. Things couldn't be worse in my life.
A
Wow.
B
Close to ending it all. Wow.
A
And. But we them boys.
B
217 happens. I'm like, oh, okay. But they're going to do the. They're going to do the Dallas Cowboys thing. 21:14. Suddenly I'm like, oh, don't do this. Don't do it. Don't get my hopes up. 21 21.
A
No shot.
B
And they are grasping defeat from the clutches of victory. Blessing the. Oh, my God. The amount of. It was just an. Cowboys win. 21:24. Wow. Wow. Freedom, boys. Wow. Come on, man. Dude, Congratulations. And it was. Boys, it's a season saver.
A
Yeah.
B
Like, or else if you lose this, you do not make the playoffs.
A
Wow.
B
Still a good chance. They don't. But, like, really, really needed this one. And it was. Oh, my gosh, boys, we didn't.
A
Boys, congratulations.
B
Started off the stream. Just play, you know, put on Wiz Khalifa. We didn't, boys. And just had a Great time.

Yeah, yeah, I've been watching it. I also want to make a reco for you. Bless. I know you love hanging out with friends in a living room. I do, you know, be doing activities together.
A
Yeah, we're.
B
I'm not being sponsored to say this. Had a sponsored stream on Friday where we played demo Dungeons and Dragons dude.
A
Do you know I was kind of jealous that I wasn't on that stream. I know I just needed to ask and somebody probably would have hopped off to let me on, but I didn't realize it until the very last moment that it was a DND style thing. And I'm pretty sure I played demo in like VR where it's like the.
B
That was like the versus mode or whatever.
A
I played like the PSVR2, like whatever they launched with. Yeah, yeah.
B
So that was more of like a 1v1 or 2v2 type thing. So this is like just straight up campaign. And again we were sponsored on Friday. We're not sponsored to say this anymore, but the. Yeah, you see you could still play in VR if you want with the meta quest and like go around the little table and like throw the dice or whatever. But it's essentially baby's Baldur's Gate 3.
A
That's cool.
B
Where for anybody who has wanted to hop into a situation like that, like obviously nowhere near as deep as Baldur's Gate 3 in good ways and in bad ways because I feel like balls Gate three can be really intimidating when it comes to inventory management and suddenly you have a shitload of all sorts of stuff you don't know what to do with. And the mechanics go insanely deep when it comes to like the battle system. Like, yeah, the battle system and what your moves are and what you should upgrade here. And it's just like, it's a lot more simple and you're just little, little like toys on a. You're just little figurines on a tabletop game or whatever. And I've had a blast with it. I want to play more of it because it was really, really cool to see the strategies and like hopping in and you know, they're flanking us from back here. Oh my God, Nick, we need you to. Nick's our, our little mage halfling or whatever. At one point Nick's like coming in to save the day and all he did was he accidentally turned himself into a rat and then got lit on fire. Like it was just like, it was a blast. A lot of fun, a lot of laughs. Okay, good game.
A
I'll put that on the list to play with the homies. And we ever stream it again, let me know because I want to hop on a stream of that. That's.
B
Yeah, I really want to do more of it, like sometime soon. I. I was hoping to continue the campaign from Friday, but Nick's out this week, so maybe we have you hop in.
A
Of course, if you're a kind of funny member, you can get today's Greg way. It is 15 minutes covering the new Simu Liu movie, in your dreams and why you got to watch it. Thank you to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delini the Psalm Twining. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some new. Yeah, seven stories today, Starting with our number one Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake release update. This comes from Mike Straw at Insider Gaming. The Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake is coming sooner than some might think. As first mentioned on the latest episode of Insider Gaming Weekly, a video game podcast, Insider Gaming has learned when the remake of the 2003 action adventure game is set to release. Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson has regularly reported that Ubisoft's plans called for the Prince of Persia remake to release prior to the Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake and as a published, that remains the case. According to sources close to the game, the Prince of Persia Sands of Time remake is scheduled to release in in mid January 2026. In addition to the release Plan. Sources believe it's likely that the next look at the game will come at the game awards on December 11, 2025. That's also where the official date could be revealed.
B
Okay.
A
Interesting stuff.
B
Okay. It's not gone forever. This wasn't a game doomed for eternity that eventually just never sees a release.
A
You know, Ubisoft's in there. Like, they'll forget about it.
B
Yeah.
A
They don't talk about Beyond Good Evil 2 anymore.
B
Okay. This is fascinating. This is for all the Prince of Persia fans out there. We'll see. You know, when we first got that initial, this the second tease of, like, hey, we're still working on Reveal. Yeah. Like the.
A
Hey, we're not. It's not Ubisoft.
B
Oh.
A
It was like a very specific Ubisoft studio in some country chat. Remind me where it was. But they were working on it. I don't know if you remember the timeline of this where they announced it.
B
People were like, ew, the art style.
A
Yeah. People were like, this kind of looks like butt. And then they're like, oh, never mind. We're delaying it because it was supposed to come out. I'm going to throw out like, a 2023.
B
It was 2022 where they were like.
A
Oh, it's coming out in, like, January.
B
Yeah.
A
And we're like, all right, cool. And then they delete it forever because they made this shit again from scratch. I was gonna say India. I think it was Ubisoft India.
B
Blessing.
D
Let me blow your mind. You said 2023, right?
A
Yeah.
D
It was supposed to come out January 2020.
H
Wow.
A
No shock. No shock. Wow. It had a release date. January 21, 2021.
D
What does the 21st look like in 2026? Let's see.
A
Where were you in January 21, 2021?
B
At home. Like all of us.
A
Yeah, I was at home. Yeah.
B
Yeah.
A
I think I was trying to grow a beard.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
D
The 21st is a. Is a Wednesday for 2026. So maybe they release it the. You know, five years later, we're finally back.
B
Same week, I think I had just purchased we Fit Adventure.
A
Ring Fit.
B
Ring Fit Adventure. Yeah, my bad. Ring Fit event. Forgot what it was called. Still somewhere in the closet over there. I'm not sure where it's at.
A
Do you think. Do you ever think about how much time has passed since, like, 2020?
B
Yes. Yeah. I just got a notification that I hit 5 years uploading to YouTube.
A
Is this the original game you're showing, by the way?
D
Yeah, this is the.
A
This is the.
B
This is the 2020. This is a 2020 reveal. This is the remake.
A
You're lying. You're playing PlayStation 2 footage right now.
B
Discover a classic tale.
A
Don't fuck with.
B
Yeah, this was the remake. Yeah. Yeah. People were not happy with the art style. People were not stoked about this sort of stylized look at.
A
Whoa.
B
Some of these. I don't remember it looking this bad.
A
Yeah, I don't remember it looking this bad either.
B
I, I remember get, you know, hearing all of the Scuttlebutt and hearing all the, the anger online about the look of it and thinking, all right, you guys are, relax, it wasn't that bad. But looking at this, there's some shocking shots.
A
This looks like early PS3.
B
Yeah.
A
Like this looks like it was announced at the same showcase as Resistance 2.
B
Yeah. And it's also one of those things that charted one I call out quite a bit, but it feels like it's more and more relevant with how budgets have kind of constrained a lot of development timelines. But it looks like a, like a PS3 remaster. Like, yeah, hey, we're bringing this game back. But you know, at 4K, it's running in 4K now and it's still the same video game. You remember, we're just kind of.
A
We didn't even touch textures.
B
Yeah. We're just maybe uploading. But yeah, there was some shocking shots in that.
A
Yeah, no, that, that looks way worse than I remember looking at the time.
B
Yeah, yeah, that was.
A
Yeah.
B
Pretty bad.
A
Barry, if you can play the latest trailer again, because now what are your. First of all, is this something that you're interested in?
B
Only from the. All right, what, what's all the Scuttlebutt about? Yeah, because I, I was never a big Prince of Persia fan. I was. These weren't games that I was really trying to play back in the day. And I know how. I know how everybody feels about Sands of Time and it's one of people's favorites, like video games of all time. Tim always talks about it, but we first saw this. The first thing I pointed out and a lot of people pointed out was, oh, realistic look. They're not doing this stylized thing anymore.
A
They're changing it. Notice how crisp this trailer looks. I know we're just looking at a candle in a pre rendered fucking animation.
B
Yeah.
A
But like, it feels intentional as far as, hey, let's re reveal it, put 2026 on it and just make a candle look really, really good so they know that it's not going to look like the way we showed them. Last time.
B
I also want to call this out, and this is something that needs to get called out, because I really, really applaud the subtle logo change too often nowadays. Bless. Whenever there's a. An older logo that's a little too much going on, a little too old in its style. Yeah. And then you always see the crazy overcorrection of, we need to make this, like, just basic, bold font, like, you know, like, we're gonna modernize the hell out of this. But I love how, like, they still keep the spirit while kind of making the logo look less like a 2005 logo. I love that. Congratulations to Ubisoft.
A
I want to see the old logo again, because I look at this, and for me, it is. I like the. The font, but this is the.
B
This is the old Prince of Persia logo.
A
Okay. You know what?
B
That's, like, the old style they look. But I love that they went with a little bit more simple of a look with, like, keeping the spirit of it.
A
You know, I was gonna hate on it, but you're right. Like, I think they did. They did do a good job.
B
Thank you so much.
A
My biggest question is, if we see this at game awards, will gameplay live up to the expectation, what do they have to do to make us go, ha, thank God? Does it have to look like a modern game? They've been working on this for four years.
B
I think has to look similar to what we've seen them do. With what. Barrett, what was the recent Assassin's Creed game?
A
Shadows.
D
That was the one.
A
Mirage.
B
Mirage, Mirage. It has to be similar to that in terms of visuals. It has to be going for realism still. While, you know, this is just such a weird one, because I feel like any other studio, at any other point, even a studio like Ubisoft would have given up on this. It. It's such a. A bizarre thing that you spend, you know, four to five years going. We got to go back to the drawing board, especially for Prince of Persia, which is.
A
I know Prince of Persia. Like you mentioned Sands of Time.
B
It's popular.
A
Some people's favorite game. Right. Like, it's of that level. But I feel like the IP name, the brand name of Prince of Persia, you're not in modern times. You're not stacking it up against, like, an Assassin's Creed or Farker or whatever. But I do think the thing I will applaud is that I think right now Ubisoft is in a place where they should be looking at some of those dormant IP and revisiting them to see if they can hit like, I think a Prince of Persia is a worthy enough thing to go, all right, let's give it a shot to see if people with it and buy it because maybe this is a thing we can make more of. I would say the same about Splinter Cell. Hey, let's make a new Splinter Cell. See if people buy it and like it. Because if so, that creates another lane where it's not just Assassin's Creed after Assassin's Creed game.
D
And in a similar vein with the Splinter self, like, they've stuck with that weirdly enough, even with all the, the troubles that. Is it supposed to be a remake, right, of one of the other ones? Like, they've stuck with it and now there's a new director that just came on and like all this stuff. Like, there's been so much behind the scenes drama of that game, but they're, they're not like, all right, fuck it. Like, let's throw up our hands. Which is.
A
Yeah, I don't even know if that's a remake. I think that might be a.
D
Just a new one, a reboot.
A
I have no idea what that's supposed to be.
B
I don't know.
D
Roger knows. Yeah, he's not here. But in a similar vein though, of like, it feels very unubiest out for them to hold on to both of these projects for as long as they have.
B
And, and I think we'd be in a different spot right now if, or, or, or a different sort of line of thinking if Prince of Persia Lost Crown comes out to, to massive sales, where they go, damn, we really need to get this one right in order to, you know, think about how successful that version, that game is. Man, if we could pull this one off, this would do gangbusters. And I, it's, it's kind of just a weird one for me where I, I feel like in any other multiverse, Ubisoft would have given up on this and just said, nope, not worth it. The juice is not worth the squeeze. People don't love this art style either. Just go forward with it and try to make it as good as possible, or it's going to take. How long to redo everything? Four or five? No, never mind.
A
I'm surprised that part of the conversations from Ubisoft for like, such a corporate entity wasn't, hey, we're making a solar cell. We're making it cheap. Like, give it to Ubisoft India. Like, have them, like, give them only a certain amount of budget and be like, yo, get it out the door. For the fact that they were like, oh, shit. All right. People really want this to look good.
B
You know our Prince of Persia, right?
A
Yeah, sorry. Prince of Persia, Sands of Time remake. Yeah. The fact that I would think that you would make that cheap as Ubisoft, not as me. I'm like, make a. Make an expensive Prince of Persia for people.
B
Right.
A
But the fact that they went back to the drawing board, did all that stuff. I'm so fascinated by how this thing looks once it's revealed, because that's gonna be very telling as far as the lengths they went to like, make this thing a worthy. I don't even know if AAA is the word, but like, you know, a. Something that surpasses what we saw originally.
B
It's gotta look good. It's gotta. To me, it has to be similar to the way the larger Internet and industry feels about Snake Eater remake.
A
Yeah.
B
It has to capture the spirit of what the original is, gameplay wise, but it has to look really good visually and impressive and go, oh, shit. This is the. This is the definitive way to play in 2025. Sands of Time. I no longer have to worry about finding ways to play the old version or whatever. Now it's. Now I can see this inglorious 4k and have it up res and all that jazz.
A
I want to keep on with the Ubisoft conversation. With story number two. Ubisoft hasn't exploded. This is Joshua Wolens at PC Gamer. Last week, Ubisoft delayed its quarterly financial report and called a temporary halt to trading in its stocks. The Internet immediately did what it does best, descend into wild and frenzied speculation. To be fair, it did all seem quite portentous. You know that one? Yeah, portentous. And in a world where Saudi Arabia bought EA and Microsoft bought Activision, the. The theories that Ubisoft had itself been acquired or undergone some kind of enormous financial calamity didn't feel totally out there. But staying down, folks, Ubisoft's delayed financial report took place earlier today. And it turns out all the hullabaloo was per company big boss Yves Gamont. For perhaps the most boring reason imaginable, quote, we appointed a new panel of auditors. That was approved at the annual general meeting last July, end quote. In essence, UB's new numbers guy decided that revenues from one of his partnerships from the fiscal year before this one needed to be recognized in a different way. The long and short of this process is that the new way of recognizing those revenues meant the company suddenly overshot a covenant on how much net debt to core profit it's meant to maintain, and it had to quickly fork over 286 million euros to pay off some outstanding loans and get. Get the ratio back down. Which is, I'm sure you will concur, very boring and not at all as apocalyptic as online profits were forecasting last week. So if Ubisoft hasn't. Hasn't suddenly become someone else's property or vanished into a financial black hole, did anything actually interesting come out of its delayed financial report? Well, we did learn that UB is pretty chuffed with how Assassin's Creed Shadows has gone.
B
Chuffed is good.
A
Chuffed is good. It sounds bad. It's a good word. The company's earnings report said that the latest AC plus the rest of the brand's catalog have been overperforming against expectations. Though it's keeping stum.
B
Stum.
A
Stum.
B
Stum.
A
Stum is keeping stum about specific sales numbers.
B
Stum means. It's a British slang term for silent or quiet.
A
Okay, they're keeping quiet.
B
And they're also proper chuffeda can we.
A
Talk about the British?
B
They're proper chuff.
A
Why not just say they're keeping quiet? I mean. What do you mean they're keeping stum?
B
Keeping stum. They're stuff. Stumped. You're adding ours.
A
Portentous.
B
Okay, well, that's not a British term.
A
Yo, what are y' all doing over there?
B
That's not.
A
Eat your. Your beans and bread and use regular words.
B
Portends is not a British word. That's like a British slang term. Portends just means that, like it. It's showing that something in the future may happen.
A
Man, we're gonna get on the tube and have a conversation about this one. The presentation accompanying the report notes Ubisoft's lineup of upcoming games. You've got DLC for Avatar, Rainbow Six Mobile. The division resurgence.
B
Resurgence. I'll hear the British goes with these words.
A
They're resurging over there. Freaking. Another mobile thing, which is the division resurgence and the remake of Prince of Persia, the Sands of Time. But included on that list is a blank box marked unannounced title. That could be anything. But for my money, I'd guess we might soon be laying eyes on the Assassin's Creed 4 Black Flag remake that everyone knows is coming. But Ubi refuses to let anyone speak about. A lot going on at ubis. They're proper chuffed about it.
B
Yeah, I guess this wasn't as interesting as we all thought it'd be. We were you Know at one point when we were last week when I was hosting and you were in the second chair, you mentioned you brought up the genius idea, which would have been really, really bad in hindsight, but you brought up we should react to this.
A
We should do a live reaction. Turns out it was at 3am so it would have been a. Nobody was going to wake up for that. But like in a different world, this could have gone a different way. I'm still kind of shocked about the overperforming part.
B
Why is that?
A
I guess it doesn't feel like the conversation feels like it moved on. But I wonder if that's just a. Maybe that's how Assassin's Creed always is. But maybe because it's usually in the fall, we don't feel that as strongly because like we move on from things I think fashion the fall, another game comes out. Christmas is here. It's a new year. All right. Who's talking about Assassin's Creed in January? You know, I feel like that by that time it's like everything's moved on. But because it released in February, March, like the conversation moved on as it usually does. But I guess because it's a game that came out this year, I feel like it should still be in the conversation.
D
I also wonder like what they. What they're in especially because what's the term that they're using? They're. They're being scum about their actual numbers. Like what their expectations were for Shadows in particular. Like the first big AC to come out since Valhalla. Because Mirage was originally DLC that was gonna. That turned into its own game and they didn't really advertise it like as this big entry. Right. Valhalla was I think the best selling in game in the series. So I wonder why they. I don't know like it. The way they talk about it sounds like they had like lower expectations for Shadows rather compared to Valhalla. And I wonder why that is.
B
Is we possibly the same year of yote like it. Does that have anything to do with it?
D
Do you think that execs all. Something that just popped in my brain is do you think execs. Some execs may be too online with some of the.
A
Yeah.
D
Oh we hate that a black man is in this video game type of very online nonsense.
H
Yeah.
A
Maybe they saw Star Wars Outlaws how that did as well and they're like great point. Oh man, everything. You know, maybe the type of games we're making right now aren't Avatar. I thought it did. Outlaws.
B
Outlaws did not do great.
A
Yeah. As far as I recall, Outlaws did not do well.
B
Not only just from.
A
I don't know if they ever said that though. I don't know if I'm saying this based off a conversation.
D
I know it like reviewed like kind of like whatever, but I feel like there was more people out there actually playing it though.
A
This from the people in the streets that I'd be talking to. Sometimes I've heard that Star Wars Outlaws said not. It did not do well. But that was also.
B
I'm. I mean, I'm pretty sure you're not wrong. Like I'm.
A
But I can't remember if they have, if they've actually come out and said that.
B
Yeah, it's. I, I, I. You're definitely not wrong about Star Wars Outlaw sales. It didn't just underperform critically. It also was financially.
A
Star wars outlaw. Oh, that's A.I. i'm not going to read the A.I.
B
One.
A
Star Wars Outlaw sales. Star Wars Outlaws has not met sales expectations. Well, this is just a Reddit post. This is from tweettown.com I know. Tweet Town. Here we go. Star Wars Outlaws missed Ubisoft's expectations again despite content update. This was, this is back in this February. But yeah, I guess we'll go, we'll run with, with the truth that Star wars allies didn't perform. I don't know, maybe there's some trending thing there. I also just don't know Ubisoft as a whole.
B
Right.
A
Like, I feel like they're in such a weird place as far as their overall output. And so even if, I guess I look at Assassin's Creed and even if Assassin's Creed meets its sales expectation, I would be surprised if like Ubisoft's overall output overperforms or like meets those expectations just based off of them not having that many releases.
B
Yeah, I, I'm with you. I think that if we think about Ubisoft struggling, it doesn't necessarily mean that Assassin's Creed Shadows can't still over over perform. Yeah, you know, I think when we think about the Ubisoft in the past, there's always a lot of different games that they are putting out and they have a larger library to sort of point to and say this is a success, that was a win, that was a win. They one kind of underperformed. But that's fine because we've had three other games that have really kind of overperformed and it's just, it's a different era for Ubisoft. Now, when I don't know what the sales and success numbers have been for Rainbow six Siege X, I don't know if that's something that can maybe kind of bolster up this lineup of. Of games and maybe that's something they can kind of say. Yeah, we can always rely on the consistency there. I don't really know what their consistent output can be. And I guess maybe we just answered that question for me. Maybe it is Shadows. Yeah. Maybe it is ac.
A
And I guess again, like to Bear's point, right? If you say, hey, we're going to sell five copies and you sell eight copies, you. You over perform like it's all based off of what their own projections were. Curious to see if Prince of Persia Pains of Time overperforms. I'm also curious to see, like, what was the last word we had. What was the last we heard of Hexi. Remember Assassin's Creed Hexi, Right, the witch one. They get the witch trials one, right? Where's that in the lineup? When are we seeing that? Is that 2020?
B
That's got to be next. I'm assuming next year.
D
Well, I don't know. The way, like, the Black Flag rumors have been ramping up, it feels like Black Flag is.
A
Yeah, Black Flag would be next year.
B
Yeah.
D
Because they also, like, it was four years in between Valhalla or five years almost in between Valhalla and Shadows. So I imagine if Hexi is their. What they see as their next big one, I could see it being a.
B
Couple, four years between. That's crazy, dude.
D
Yeah.
A
And then they also canceled the Civil War one. I need to see. I need a. This is what we need to do. I want to do a heist with you. Okay.
B
Okay.
A
I want to sneak into the Ubisoft offices because I just want to see what. What was the proposed time Bless walks in the mustache, Bonjour, Sake Bleu. Starts thinking, whatever French it. Andy shows up as Vero. I just want to see whatever calendar they have. Like, hey, this was our proposed plan. Because, like, I don't understand. Yeah, where Black Flag, Hexi, the Civil War one that they were. They were like, ah, we can't have black people killing Nazis. The people will freak out. Like, what. When was all this going to happen in regular content.
B
All in. What was the Infinite Infinity? It's Assassin's Creed Infinity Thunder, Mifflin Infinity. You want Kevin Feige to show up on the. To show the board and say, like, here's our release. Yes.
A
Oh, dude, that might fix Ubisoft. Ubisoft needs Kevin Feige to come out on stage and be like, here are the next 10 years leading up to Assassin's Creed Infinity War. That would go so hard.
B
And one of them is like Assassin's Creed Hex. He goes, but we didn't think that name quite fit. Yeah, and then it puts his finger up and it changes to like the witch trial.
A
Which trial?
B
Crazy dude.
A
Dude.
B
Oh man. Take me back to like Peak Marvel.
A
Peak Marvel Time.
B
MCU is maybe the happiest I've ever been in my honestly same.
A

We're back with a surprise. Tim Geddes. He's here.
H
I'm here everybody.
A
Story number three. Tim, I want to talk to you about this game called Wild Blue.
H
Wild Blue Skies is the name of this game which is really exciting. It is a star FOX 64 like which the world needs way more of. We also just need more Star Fox, period. And if we're gonna get more Star Fox, I'd rather it be Star Fox 64. Okay, but the thing about Wild Blue Skies is it's by Chuhai Labs. I was trying to figure out like when this happened and I couldn't put my finger on it just from youtubing. This was one of the games that they announced at in the last year. I want to say we were watching some showcase and the trailer came up for this and it was like announcing like the people working on it and it was like a really wacky out there trailer that had less to do with the game and more to do with the people that worked there. And we all really dug the vibe of it. Do you remember what I'm talking about?
A
It was like, like low key, so.
H
Extra, like so over the top. And then they were talking about, yeah, we're doing this game anyways. I got to play it finally and it is very exciting. We've seen a lot of games try to mimic the star Fox 64 style, right? And I don't think that any so far have fully achieved it. This one, I will say for my, I don't know, hour or so that I've got to play the game is the closest we've gotten so far. In fact, I think that in some ways it just is. Star Fox 64. The first level of this, I am almost shocked is not just a one to one recreation of Corneria from Star Fox 64. Slightly different look, slightly different sounds, but like the beat to beat what happens. Like every set piece, it is all exactly the same. And that's a good thing because I think that that's them putting their foot down and being like, hey, y' all have just been asking for Star Fox 64. Here it is. Then the next couple levels I played, including this one, Hurricane, were different, were brand new, but still had that kind of vibe of Star Fox 64. And you might ask Andy, what is the vibe of Star Fox 64? What is it that makes that game so special? Obviously it's your companions. It's you and three others AI flying around you and they're all chattering non stop, right? But it's the personality of these different characters. You're this little dog. You got a kangaroo, you just got a bunch of animal friends and they're all talking to you. And the character archetypes you would expect. One of them is a little fuck up and he needs your help.
B
More anthropomorphic animals.
H
We just need them. We just need them. So yeah, it's, it's kind of what you would expect. But every level ends with the boss fight and the more like all range mode type thing you got going on, it's just star fox 64 and that is the highest compliment I can give because Star Fox 64 is one of my favorite games of all time. But it looks great. I love the cell shy cell shaded art style that it has going. It makes the kind of like hitboxes very clear. It makes attacks very clear. You know what you're trying to dodge and what you're trying to like go through it. It seems very, very, very promising. I played it on my Steam. Dec absolutely loved it, thought it looked great things. I think it sounds great in terms of sound design and all of that. I will say. And this is such a Tim Gettys thing. The soundtrack is a bit of a letdown to me in terms of quality. Like if you're going to take an N64 type game and then make it look this good, I think it also needs to sound that good too. And I don't think that it does. And I think that's a unique thing to Star Fox because Star Fox Assault was like one of the first games to actually use an orchestra. So I already have an understanding of like Star Fox deserves real shit.
A
Yeah.
H
But the style and like tone is so nailed here and the gameplay is perfect. I am really, really excited for them to keep working on this and put it out. I think it's going to. This is going to be one of those indie games that I think kind of is a step above. Like I think that people are going to be talking about this once it comes out because of how much it is nailing the thing it's trying to emulate. And yeah, I always say like when PlayStation All Stars battle Royale came out, I'm like, you tried to copy Smash Brothers but you, you tried too hard to make it different. Just fucking copy Smash Brothers. They're just copying star fox 64 and I think that they know that people from the original Star Fox team are working on this, who also worked on Mario 64 and 1080 snowboarding like damn, they got the pedigree and yeah, this is. It's really cool. Can we bear, can you do me a favor? Can you go back to the beginning of this trailer and can we listen to it with audio for a second?
B
I would love to see.
A
Hang on. We'll get through this.
B
Yeah.
A
This is very Star Fox.
F
I can't see past my nose.
B
I wish the characters were the 3D models.
A
Yeah, looks like.
B
Yeah.
A
All right.
H
You can pause it there, but you get it right. And then when you get to the boss, the bosses sound exactly like they should. And when you take them down, they're like, you'll never defeat our boss. Like, it's. It's again, just star Fox 64 with a different coat of paint. And it's a coat of paint that I'm. I'm super intrigued by. So the homie Tom Davis is working on this. So that's how we knew about it. Excited about that. But yeah. Keep your eyes out on Wild Blues.
A
Do they have like a release date or anything?
H
I don't think so.
A
It looks like they. So they just renamed it to Wild Blue Skies.
H
It was just Wild Blue before.
A
And on their Steam page. I'm not seeing a release date. Yeah, but you can add it.
H
Wish list. This one. I think it's going to be worth it.
A
Oh, yeah.
H
Goodbye.
A
Thank you so much, Tim.
B
Thank you, Tim.
A
If we. If somebody out there were to ever make a kind of funny video game, I feel like that would be the type of game I would love that each of us voice like a character. I feel like we could do that.
B
What can I be?
I
The.
B
Can I be like a frog or a chameleon?
A
Only if I can be a hedgehog. Okay.
B
This is a blue hedgehog.
A
Let's move on to story number four. Persona and Metaphor Refantasio creator says he wants to create JRPG 3.0 this is George Young at GamesRadar speaking at Korean Gaming Conference G Star 2025 Metaphor Refantasio and Modern Persona Director Katsura Hashino says that the JRPG genre is entering its third iteration. He calls JRPG 3.0 during a talk called When Experience Becomes Designing Lasting Impressions through Art and Structure with art director Shiginori Sojima, Hashino discusses where he sees the future of the jrpg. Future of the JRPG as a genre. During the talk, which was reported by 4gamer, Hoshino discusses how the genre has evolved through the ages. He separates JRPGs into three eras. JRPG 1.0 is the style of JRPGs of the past. JRPG 2.0 represents games of the present, and JRPG 3.0 embodies the JRPGs yet to come. I still don't know. I need the line, when did we start? When did we enter 2.0 is what I want to know. It's the current ones, but, like, when did the current start?
B
Yeah, currently.
A
Was it 3D? Was it like PS3? Like, what?
D
It's just the one that came out right now.
B
Everything else is 1 point.
A
I know what 2.0 is. 1.0 as translated by games are a plus. Hashino says JRPG 1.0 includes the true classics. He says the genre split into its second iteration with its current style, which feels higher quality due to how much more responsive they are to the player.
B
I need Kevin Feige to show up on.
A
So, like, okay, well, we'll come back to it because I want to break that down because that might tell us something. However, the most interesting part of Hashino's speech was his description of the next generation of JRPGs. He isn't sure what JRPG 3.0, as he calls it, will look like, but he hopes his next game will be part of this new iteration on the genre. According to the article, he believes, quote, there will be a greater dimension to these games and they'll change the genre structure and presentation at a fundamental level. End quote. All right.
B
A fourth dimension.
A
A fourth dimension. So he says second iteration, current style feels higher quality due to more being more responsive. So like Persona. Is that what we're saying?
D
It's. What does he mean by responsive, though?
A
Or could it be Mario and Luigi?
D
Yeah.
A
Does Mario and Lou. Is that the split?
B
Was it Mario RPG with, like the.
A
Like, the real time?
B
Like.
A
Yeah, I think that was Mario and Luigi.
D
Or is it just more like Paper Mario?
A
I think might have been Paper Mario, you know? No, it was Mario and Luigi. I don't think Paper Mario. Fuck. I don't remember chat. Which Mario RPG had, like, the parries and shit in the jumping.
B
I thought it was Paper Mario.
D
I thought they both did.
A
All of them had it like the.
B
First one, you know.
A
Oh, so it was Super Nintendo. I think Chad is saying they all did. Okay, so Mario rpg. I don't think that's what he's saying, though. Do you think?
B
Well, because he's saying, like, that's when you. When the player is feeling more active and more a part of the battle.
A
Okay, let's do this. Forget what he's saying. Where would we say JRPG 2.0 started? I'll go first. Final Fantasy 7. Is that what you're gonna say?
B
Yep.
A
Yeah.
B
A third. You know, all the different dimensions. You know, you had like different forms of the characters art wise where it's like here's a little baby that they look like on the. When they're in the overworld.
A
Yeah.
B
Here's like how they look in battle scenes or whatever. Maybe they just. Maybe he's talking about production.
A
Like you also had like the Limit Break system and like. Like system wise they were doing things in Final Fantasy 7 that are really.
D
Cool but like do do does any of those systems which are great systems. And you know I'm talking about Final Fantasy, I'm talking about Persona Expedition 33, Mario RPG, whatever. Are any of these things that like fundamentally change what a turn based RPG is that would turn it into a 2.0? Because I get what you're saying, Andy, of like yeah, Final Fantasy 7 being the like a big step up production wise. But it. Are we talking about presentation value or see fundamentals of what an RPG is which I personally there's been a lot of great pushes and innovations. I don't know where like a clear 2.0. Oh, these ones are now like a fundamental like complete change and evolution of what one point.
A
I think of the impact. I know there's a different thing. Right. But I think of the impact of Final Fantasy 7 and how that changed. I think the culture around JRPGs, especially in the West. But like if we're.
B
That's where I'm at with it.
A
I don't know if I can point to a singular JRPG I guess for as a 2.0. This shifted thing things mechanically in such a strong way. I feel like it's all been kind of iterative. Not in a bad way, but iterative as far as like, you know, the JRPGs have slowly gotten.
B
They've been like kind of nominal in how they all. Right now this new one has this system that like isn't completely change in the game, but it's a little bit. And we also got to figure out like what. When we think about just what a JRPG is, it's a Japanese role playing game and our mind immediately goes turn based combat because that's what they were called back in the day. And I've just still never quite loved that. We're still sticking to like it has to be turn based to be a jrpg.
A
I. I still stick to that. But it's also like the thing of.
D
So is Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth not a JRPG?
A
No. I mean Like I, I think you can make the argument because of like you can slow down time and pick.
B
From menus And I think 100 is. I think, I think you could like make that argument. Maybe that's like.
A
I don't think Final Fantasy 16 is a JRPG.
B
I think it's two point. I think Final Fantasy Rebirth and remake are like 2.9. You know when like a game's about to update and like. And you see like, wow, we're getting close to the next big sort of a next big number thing. I think we need to stop saying.
D
JRPG and just say turn, base and active rpg.
A
That's what I've been saying. Yeah. Cuz literally like mind RPG from Japan.
B
And like Final Fantasy.
A
Just so you know, you're literally just from. You've come around, you've come around to agreeing with me, Barrett. Cuz I've been saying this for years. For game awards, stop with the best rpg. Make it best turn based RPG and best action rpg.
D
I'm not there with you on that.
A
I mean that sounds like what you're saying. It sounds like.
D
I think it's a different. No, I think that's what we just. I just don't like the differentiator that we constantly use of best jrpg just meaning turn based, which is like just. I don't think that's what that definition should be.
A
Do you think, what does JRPG mean to you then? Would you call Elden Ring a jrpg?
D
Yeah. Because it's from, it's an RPG from Japan, man.
A
Absolutely not.
D
I think it's a weird differentiator.
A
I think that's a weird like Elden Ring probably has more in common with like Fallout than it does with like yeah. Turn based rpg.
B
When, if, if I'm, you know, you know it when you see it sort of thing. Elden Ring I don't look at as a jrpg.
A
Yeah.
B
Even though it is a Japanese game with RPG mechanics.
A
I mean I'm down, I'm down, but.
B
I just hate the genre name anyway. Like I'm just like we're, you know when we're talking about what best RPG was for the game awards and in my mind Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is the most RPG of all of those games because it is a role playing game and you are making choices that is dictating the rest of the game and you are, you are role playing as a character. But then. Well, those other games are turn based. So they're RPGs.
D
Yeah, well, because that's what that's I feel like another place where the. That genre started was more stats and stuff and strategy.
A
RPGs are like, Chad, I know Kingdom.
B
Come is not JRPG. I'm talking about just RPG.
A
I think RPGs are such a vast and wide genre because like. And I think this is a good problem to have because they, they contain a level of depth and a level of variety that is very rich for what RPGs are. I think JRPG and Western RPG and CRPG, like those terms can be useful, but I think they're so outdated now that they. I don't think they make sense to use them in a formal way. I think turn based and action RPG are a bit more clear cut and a bit more. They make sense for comparing to each other. I would rather compare Baldur's Gate and Clear Obscure and Final Fantasy 7, you know what I mean? To each other. As opposed to comparing those to a Elden Ring and a Fallout and a.
B
Breath of the Wild.
A
Even though I'm sure I'm getting to another thing there. Right. But like, I think the mechanical similarities and differences matter more if we're trying to treat this in a formal way.
B
I have another game to bring up. Talking about like the diff where we're at 2.0 in the line. Yeah. In the timeline. I think games like the, the Tails games, when they are, you know, random encounters. But then when you get into a random encounter, like you're in a kind of a real time battle that is no longer turn based. But it's not like you're just out there battling in this open world. It's always like, all right, now you're in this encounter and you got to beat that encounter and you get. There's all your XP because you beat it.
A
Yeah.
B
And you keep on exploring and then it's like, all right, time for another encounter. Like, I feel like that is another evolution of what the genre is. I'm also thinking about, I'm thinking about Kingdom Hearts Vagrant Story as another kind of of, you know, it's, it's, it's real time, but you get into these sort of turn based encounters with enemies.
A
So Prague RPG now that we've all solved 2.0.
B
Yeah, we nailed it.
A
Now that we saw. Let's talk about 3.0, because I read this and this is me being a little toxic guy, you know.
B
Me being.
A
A little, a little gossip here. I think he, I think he saw Expedition 33 and was like, they're about to get to 3.0. I got to get to 3.0 before they do. But I don't know what 3.0 means. I don't know what 10.0 means. 3.0. 3.0 is like where the video game industry fucking breaks. Once we get to 3.0, it's like getting the Ring and Lord of the Rings. I feel like he's just talking about.
D
Eras of great RPGs.
A
Like, I don't know.
D
I don't see his.
A
I think we're already in 3.0.
B
Damn. Yeah.
A
I think Persona 5 kickstarted 3.0. That's what I'll say.
B
Wow.
D
Okay, sure.
A
I think we're here.
B
Yeah, I like that.
A
I think he's talking about 4.0 or 3 and a half. Because I think, like, when I think of Persona and metaphor and Expedition 33. We're in a new era, brother.
D
Just to bring it back to the JRPG conversation for a second, I think.
B
Everybody'S golf hot shots was 3.0.
A
Would you describe this third base their stats? Yeah, there's a story. There's that one girl that is trying to date you or whatever that.
D
Would you describe Avatar the Last Airbender as an anime?
A
I've been playing with those Avatar magic cards. Great time. It's a great time. We shall. You guys should get into magic play with me. But like, when you play Avatar as magic. Thanks for answering my question. It's turn based. That's a jrpg. The magic.
B
I don't want to hear about your avatar cards because there's just been a distinct ignoring of my text messages. Maybe my phone's not going through, but I keep on texting Blessing and Mike asking if they want to play Elden Ring Night Rain to like so we could finish the game with the busy weekend.
A
It was a busy weekend. I was in Oakland all weekend playing magic. Avatar cards are like cracking, brother. You ever like play a card and then you earth bend to land?
B
Oh, oh.
A
You ever like air bend a card out of here? You ever fire bend when you're attacking and then you get all the fire mana? Oh, man. Let me tell you, if you. If you aren't playing Magic the Gathering, y' all gotta get on that.
B
Can somebody bring up the graphic from like 2018 or 2019 when we introduced Kind of Funny Games 4.0? Like, it's a new era. You know what I mean?
A
Bear, bring up the. We're kind of funny. It's been a hell of a four years. Bring up the image of Sakurai sitting next to like, like a Fucking squad of, like, legendary game developers. That meeting, they're probably talking about JRPG 3.0. It's like him. It's fucking Yoko Taro wearing the mask, right?
B
Of course.
A
Toby Fox with a dog emoji over his head. Like, they're the ones who are gonna invent 3.0 story number five. It's a very sad story. There's a quote here. I'm at a loss. This is from Hideo Kojima, who's paying tribute to late actor Udo Kier. This is Andy Robinson at Video Games Chronicle. I didn't mean to transition to that so strongly.
B
It's okay. There's no other way to do it.
A
There's no other way to do it. German actor Udo Kier, known by video game players for his role as the psychic villain Yuri in the Command and Conquer Red Alert series, has died at age 81. Kier, who appeared in movies such as Blade in Ace Ventura, Pet Detective, also had roles in video games Call of duty, World War II, and Martha is Dead. Kira was due to appear in Kojima's horror game OD and appeared in the Xbox published games teaser trailer. Reflecting on Kira's passing, Kojima wrote on social media that he was at a loss for words. Quote, it all happened far too suddenly. Because of the strike. We weren't able to shoot OD for a long time and we were forced to reschedule to next year. Even during that time, Udo and I exchanged emails frequently. We stayed in close contact. We met in Milan at the end of September. He told me how. How much he was looking forward to the shoot starting up again next year. He was full of energy then too, making me laugh with his usual Udoisms. I still can't believe this. Udo wasn't just an actor. He was truly an icon of his time. He. We've lost a great icon. There will never be another like him. Udo, rest in peace. I will never forget you. End quote.
B
Damn. I just had to Google who he was in Ace Ventura and I'm like, oh, my God. How did I not remember that? He's the guy at the, at the, at the, like, kind of very fancy ball that had to, you know, that was like, and who's your friend? To Courtney Cox. And he's like this kind of like, uppity dude. And then Ace Ventura kind of like sneaks in through the Little Batman, which.
A
I told you I've not seen. Ace Ventura.
B
That's not shocking.
A
Okay.
B
I think. I think you are of the age where you Were definitely too young.
A
I could see that. Yeah. It was like very much pick and choose between Jim Carrey movies. That was Jim Carrey. Yeah.
B
Okay.
A
It was very much picking Jews.
B
I love life because I was really, really young for Ace Ventura. But then, like, I kept on, you know, watching it over the years in my youth.
A
Very sad news. Of course, I wanted to read the excerpt from Kojima. Just as somebody who was working with them and also obviously was a fan of his work, wanted to get that account in there. But it's always sad news when a beloved actor passes away. I saw other people talking about this as it happened over the weekend and talking about, like, how much they love the work he was in. And for somebody who has, obviously is a movie actor and has been in, you know, bigger projects like Blade and Ace Ventura, but then also somebody who has been in Command and Conquer and like, was set to appear in od. Super sad news always. But yeah, like was a. Was a wild one to. I forget if I woke up to this, if I saw it yesterday, but a wild one to see circulating online. Rest in peace.
B
Rest in peace.
A
Story number six. This is a quote from Charlie Cox. Any credit I get, I get. I need to give to him. That's Charlie Cox praising the motion capture actor for a game awards nod. This is Jordan Midler at Video Games Chronicle. Actor Charlie Cox has said that while he's thrilled for his Game Awards nomination, any credit given to him for his role and Clare obscure exhibition 33 must be shared with another actor. The nominations for the 2025 Game Awards were announced last week, with Clare Obscure earning the most nominations of any game in the history of the show. Actors nominated for best performance include Ben Starr, Charlie Cox, and Jennifer English For Clare Obscure Expedition 33, Erika Ishii For Gosa Yote, Konatsu Kato for Silent Hill F and Troy Baker for Indiana Jones. Now, Cox has said that any credit for the role should be shared with Maxense Carzel, who performed the motion capture of Cox's character. Speaking as part of a panel, Cox paid tribute to Carzel. Quote, I'm thrilled for this nomination. I've said this before, and I think it's important to say there's an amazing French actor by the name of Maxence Carzol Carzole. I committed to the Carzole, but I'm. I feel like I'm pronouncing probably Carzo. I don't know who did almost all the motion capture for that role. Any nomination or any credit I get, I really have to give to him, I believe the performance of that character is really down to him. End quote.
B
I love this.
A
That's a great nod, right? Like shout out to the person who did the motion capture video. I feel like, obviously, game awards, you're speaking to the biggest audience, and so I feel like they have to kind of condense down what they do for, like, categories and all that shit. But in this day and age in video games, performance artists, like the motion capture folks definitely deserve a shout out. Definitely deserve a nod here.
B
So 100%, because you're not only. You're getting great line deliveries from Charlie Cox and that is a big percentage of the performance, but you're getting. There's so much nuance in the eyes and the. The. The way the body's reacting in certain moments. And I. I think back to all of those tiny little things in the. In the facial capture performance that really, really sold all of it to me as the. As the player.
A
Yeah. I would. I would like to see, like a category that is best motion capture or something that is best. Maybe even motion captures. Motion capture artists credited more so they can be recognized in best performance. Like, I don't know what this.
B
Maybe it's like a dual sort of.
A
Yeah.
B
Nomination.
A
If it's a character, then both people get nominated.
B
Right.
A
For that character.
B
Yeah.
A
That'd be pretty sick.
B
That would be really neat to see. All right. You're getting, you know, either Jennifer English motion captured and did the voice for Shadow Heart about Baldur's Gate 3 or whatever.
A
Yeah.
B
But for this role, it is motion capture. Whoever person. And the voice actor. Whoever person. I think that would be really neat to see recognized in the future.
D
But then would that be on the industry, like. Or remembering to like.
A
No, both or.
B
No. I think the p. I think that's the game Awards to say, like, oh, this person's being. That is.
A
I think you're more. You're more nominating the character.
B
Yeah. You're not. You're nominating the character and the person who voiced or whatever. But then I think it's up to the game awards. In that moment ago, this person was also involved in. Who are the credits. Yeah, I think that'd be really awesome.
A
Story number seven is a required viewing the messages Rockstar saw before firing 34 union members. It's a video that went up on YouTube from People Make Games. Who. I checked out this YouTube channel as I was watching this channel, as I was watching this video. I heard of People Makes games. I've watched some of the videos a While ago. But like they're out here doing some real ass journalism.
B
Yeah, really cool stuff. I watched this video this morning.
A
Really cool stuff. I'll read a little bit from Mark Warren to set this up. This is from Rock Paper Shotgun. A new report claims the firing of 34 developers by Rockstar Games for alleged gross misconduct followed a Discord discussion which cited emails about changes to the company's internal slack policies. Rockstar have been accused of union busting by the Independent Workers Union of Great Britain over the firings, with the union having filed legal claims against the company. This new report from People Make Games cites an anonymous Rockstar insider as having passed on messages from the private Discord server. Rockstar developers and IWGB staff were using to organize with the insider gaming, with the insider claiming they believe these messages contributed to the firings. Highly recommend the people watch the video. It's a 16 minute video interviewing folks that are out here protesting that are. We're part of this whole situation at Rockstar and breaking down the situation.
B
Yeah, a lot better for the viewer.
A
Exactly.
B
Because I think it is. It has been kind of hard to parse what is real and what all the facts are. But I think that this video does a great job as well as the last one they put out a couple weeks ago, telling you here what the updates are and here is what's actually happening.
A
Yeah, it warmed my heart to see too because like, you know, video games media hasn't had the best go in the last decade. When you see closures, when you see acquisitions, when you see people get laid off and all this shit. And so I'm always scared and terrified about like the death of gaming journalism and like actual journalism and stuff. And so to see an outlet out here on the streets, like you know, at the protests, interviewing people, talking to people, showing what it looks like to be down there, I think it's very important and super cool. It warmed my heart seeing the video.
B
Yep.
A
Andy, people make games on YouTube is where people can find that and they're doing big things out there. But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I needed to know about, where would I go?
B
You'd go to our last story, the Wii News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to.
A
Know about story number eight. We knew, starting from Eurogamer, any future Hollow Knight games after Silksong would exist alongside the others as standalone entries. Says Team Cherry. Mihoyo has announced Vara Spira no Varsa Pyra, its next major open world game currently in Development On Unreal Engine 5 they uploaded like a 30 something minute YouTube video. As always game looks ridiculous when it's coming from. They say Mihoyo but I feel like they're called Hoyoverse now. I don't know the difference difference anymore.
B
I. I do want to kind of be on your side here because I definitely read it in my mind as Varospira as well.
A
Yeah, Varsal Pura is what it's called. David Grivel is rejoining Ubisoft Toronto as game director on Splinter Cell remake. He announced that on LinkedIn Skate Story is coming to PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium on its release on December 8th. Power World Home Sweet Home Update including Ultra kill collaboration launches December 19th. Everybody's collab with anybody. And then our last we knew story comes from WECT Digital Studio Presents and kind of funny best friend Scott Pelis. Scott sat down with comedian and musician Reggie Watts and used a certain video as a springboard to talk about creativity in the Internet age and all the modern tools slash platforms that millions of people have access to. Barry, if you can roll a clip from that, well I'm going to play.
I
A video for you. And this is from a group called Kinda Funny and this is one of their creators and his vibes and music style kind of remind me of you. So I'm just gonna play.
H
Okay.
I
Real quick and get your thoughts on it.
D
Okay.
I
So they are a video game outlet and he's working on this.
B
Why has Reggie Watts seen this?
I
Putting together their top 10 type of.
B
List and 1, 2, 3, 4. We all love gaming. Time to get a high score. Next is Reggie. I'm sorry, many great games. Time to build this list.
A
Him bobbing his head like a little bit. He's feeling it. Reggie Watson's feeling it.
B
He's feeling it. Dude, if your list is bad, really, does he get to the Michael Fassbender part? I'm a 12 year Games on Power Rep rewards member an old photo to showcase him.
I
Because I felt like, you know, that, that style, I feel like it's only possible, possible in this Internet age of like stuff that's like, you don't want to say purposefully bad, but purposefully off.
B
Yeah, I thought it was great. What do you mean about this?
I
And that's where the humor comes from. I love that we're in that age.
A
Totally. Well yeah, yeah, it's, it's great. It's like we have so many examples of, you know, people emulating the awkwardness of, you know, things, you know, or you know, that's so fun.
B
That's such a great fun fact.
A
Just some examples, samples of it. So some people are doing like meta versions. There's like three layers of meta on top of, you know what they do.
H
But.
A
But yeah, I mean, they know what that was. That was like fantastic. You gotta hit a Reggie. He obviously knows where he's coming from.
B
Huge.
A
That's huge. Knows who you're speaking to. Like, I get it. You know, shout out to.
B
Thank God, Scott. Wow.
A
Scott emailed that to us this morning and was like, yeah, I talked to Reggie Watson. I showed me in this video. So we had to make sure to get that front of you.
B
What an honor.
A
Crazy.
B
Thank you so much.
A
And that is it for we news. Let's hop into super chats real quick before we get out of here. Ricky the platypus writes in and says, I'm a Fortnite sicko. When do we hear about Greg's event Last week or did I miss it? You know, that's a good question.
B
Greg's event.
A
I don't know what. What he's talking about.
D
Oh, he posts.
A
Did great post about it. I'm gonna look@instagram.com look@instagram.com because I. I have no idea what you're talking.
B
Oh, yes, people. Yeah, people. Oh, you know I've been posting about it.
H
Yeah, yeah.
A
Oh, you know what? He posted those really high quality photos. I don't know when Greg can talk about it.
B
Yeah, we don't know. But there was an event that everybody went to and publicly posted stuff.
A
They did publicly post.
B
Sancho post did take a picture with.
D
A very interesting car.
A
There you go.
B
Oh, right.
A
There you go.
B
Right, right, right.
A
The Portland Kevin says I'll buy the Sands of Time in the hope that we get the whole trilogy. It would also be nice to get the 2008 game at least ported to current gen in 2032. This is what I want to do. Oh, we played through all the Prince of Persia.
B
Okay, rank them up.
A
We play them all and rank them 2032. We're committing to it.
B
KDG.
A
I know you got nothing going on in 2030, dude.
B
Mark it down.
A
Izzy Tricky writes in and says my hate watching for the Cowboys failed, so take my money. But at least The Patriots are 10 and 2.
B
I guess we didn't, boys.
A
I mean, my volleyball team is 4 0, but wow. You don't hear me bragging about wow. Oh, damn, you don't hear me bragging.
H
Wow.
D
They got one of those ones without you though.
A
Yeah. But, like, I know at least they got it. I know you went to that concert. I did go to that concert. It was a great concert. And when I got the text that they won, I was so relieved.
B
Yeah.
A
I was like, if they lose while I'm not there, I'm feel so shitty.
B
But what does that do for your MVP considerations, where they go?
D
Well, they definitely knocks it down a bit.
A
Yeah, it definitely knocks it down. But, like, I'm gonna. We don't have a game this week because of Thanksgiving week. I'm returning next week with a fury.
B
Okay.
A
I'm gonna be jumping over that net.
B
All right.
A
I'll be jumping over exciting. Kubara Kid writes in and says, I might do like a thing where, like, what if I treat our final game as a kind of funny meetup and I tell people, hey, show up, everybody. Sit in the stands.
B
I love it.
A
You're all invited. I don't know if that's allowed. We'll see. Because usually it's like, you can bring a friend, but I've not tried bringing 40 people.
B
An audience.
A
Yeah, an audience. They'll be fine with it. Cool. Bar Kid writes in and says, I've always considered Monster Hunter a jrpg. And to that I say, you're foolish.
D
It's an RPG from Japan.
A
Then Words, then. Who cares about these genres?
B
Everything's a JRPG if it's from Japan. Yeah.
A
You know what I mean? The fucking. If the lead developer of Oblivion happened to be born in Japan, all of a sudden Oblivion's a jrpg.
B
If there's a skill tree, it's an rpg, Apparently. Now, turn based rpg.
A
Everything has RPG elements.
B
Yeah.
A
Let's see here. Gad Nuke Bo Dubs says, why not differentiate by calling it JRPG and jarpg? Japanese action role playing.
B
This.
D
This cut turn based RPG and action RPG and art.
A
I feel like. It's just. I feel like the more we. We like, keep the Japan and Western in these names, the weirder it gets. Yeah. Specifically the Japan. I feel like. Like it's just an action rpg, brother. We can't just keep adding J to everything because it was made in Japan. They're the fucking birth of the industry. They fucking carry the shit on their back.
B
If anything.
H
We're.
A
We're. Everything else deserves a W. Yeah. At the beginning of it.
B
You're so right.
A
Well, we can call those RPGs.
B
You're so right.
D
God, the world revolves around us. Bless you.
A
Yeah. We're so fucking selfish.
B
That's an. That's an orpg. I was made in Ohio.
A
The CRPG was made in California. Avenus says, who wins in a thumb war? A hole or B hole?
D
Find out.
A
You get it? You get at thumb Wars?
B
I could try.
A
Let's do that as the handshake instead of. Instead of the handshake at the end of the episode, we'll have a thumb war. Super oh my glob 89 says best Nintendo for me. One Ocarina. This is off of Friday's gamecast, I guess. One Ocarina Metroid Prime 3. Super Smash Melee.
B
4.
A
Pokemon Crystal 5. Wind Waker.
B
I heard there wasn't a Mega man game on that whole list.
A
It was a Mega man game.
B
Oh, okay.
D
X wasn't on there.
A
Oh, insane.
B
That's crazy.
A
Feel the surge says birthday tax. Turned 30 yesterday. Thanks for y'.
B
All.
A
Thanks for all y' all do. And have a great Thanksgiving.
B
Happy birthday.
A
Happy birthday. Feel the surge. One of these days I will have the party poppers and we're gonna have an actual birthday celebration for these birthday taxes.
B
Jalapeno poppers.
A
And then lastly, Sergio writes in and says recently had this JRPG argument with a friend. Elden Ring by definition is a JRPG since it's a Japanese rpg. JRPG does not specifically denote turn based. It doesn't matter then. Then genres don't matter. Call of Duty is a western RPG because it has leveling.
B
Yeah.
A
And it was made in the West.
B
And I can customize my guns. And I'm role playing as somebody who likes to use a certain gun.
A
I'm role playing as a war criminal.
B
Uav.
A
You're doing terrible things in that video game. Drop the bottom and bust out the dogs while you're at it. Crazy. That's a crazy role playing game if.
B
You think about it.
A
Let's hop into codify.com wrong where you write in. Let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong. Correct. People watching later on YouTube and listening later on podcast services around the globe. These are all from? Oh, these aren't all.
B
There's only two at the bottom.
A
Yeah, yeah. Wild one says sharing since Tim couldn't remember specifically while Blue Skies was announced during Humble Game Showcase 2025 on March 12th.
B
Nice.
A
And then last one is from Sal from Gamatsu. He said, since you're reading my Varsa Pra article, cough cough. Where's the sourcing Blast figure? I'd clarify for you that Hoyoverse Slash Cognisphere is the name of that Mihoyo publishes under outside of China. Thank you so much for that, Sal.
B
So it's part of. Oh, I see. Okay. A larger conglomerate.
A
And that was from Gamatsu, where I pulled the Mihoyo News from. That's a good call. My bad, Sal. We're still homies.
B
What did you say it initially was?
A
I just didn't have it. I just added in like a sentence in wedus. But I think that sentence I did pull from Komatsu.
B
Oh, okay. Got you. Got you.
A
And that is it from kind offunny.com you're wrong. And that is it for kind of Fun and Games Daily. Each and every week, they run you through the nerdy news you need to know about live on YouTube, Twitch and on podcast services around the globe. Of course, if you love what we do, support us on Patreon with the kind of funny membership or YouTube to get all of our shows ad free and get a daily exclusive show. Enjoy the games Cast Next all about Kingdom Come, Deliverance 2, Mike's review of it and KFP after that, and the stream after that. But until next time. 1, 2, 3, 4. I declare a thumb war. 5, 6, 7, 8. Try to keep your thumb straight. 1, 2, 3. Come on.
H
Come on.
A
I'm different, all right? They're not built like me. They don't build people like me.
G
Monster Energy. Everybody knows White Monster Zero Ultra. That's the og it kicked off this whole zero sugar energy drink thing, but Ultra is a whole lineup now. You've got Strawberry Dreams, Blue Hawaiian Sunrise and Vice Guava. And they all bring the Monster Energy punch.
A
So if you've been living in the.
G
White can branch out. Ultra's got a flavor for every vibe, and every single one is Zero Sugar.
