Excludes Massachusetts Deadlock like Last of Us mobile game might have been in the works and Battlefield 6 is the franchise's biggest launch. Love all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily.

I'm Blessingoa Jr joining me is Master.
Blessing
Of hype, Snowback Mike.
Mike
Big Bless. What up homie? Happy Thursday to you. Great to see you Happy Pokemon Day.
Blessing
Pokemon day. Is that really today? Today on a Thursday?
Mike
I bought it last night, played it.
Blessing
Whoa. Yeah, what you think?
Mike
It's a long first hour. You know, this game desperately needs voice acting. I'm sick of reading and I'm being real.
Blessing
Okay, here's the.
Mike
Here's the deal.
Blessing
Sick of reading.
Mike
I'm being real. Real. Bless. This game has some heavy cinematics at the beginning that look like a movie. And it's just a little jar jarring when you're watching it and you're like, I'm in the world of Pokemon. And then they hit you with a bunch of subtitles on the bottom and you're like, here's.
Blessing
Okay, here's my. Here's my thing.
Mike
You're right.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
You're right that I think.
Blessing
I think Pokemon should have voice acting, but not because I'm sick of reading, because how much reading is in Pokemon? Let's be real.
Mike
Okay, well, you're giving me one line in the middle.
Blessing
Like, the fucking line I'll meet you.
Mike
In the middle of.
Blessing
Like, yes, we need voice acting. But, like, it's not like it's fucking Disco Elysium here playing. It's Pokemon.
Mike
Well, get it. I mean, it's definitely for the children to help them, of course, learn to read and get better at reading. Right?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I mean, I don't think it's for that.
Mike
I think it's a. I mean, I think at this point, it's not for that, but, like, I think at the beginning it was a little bit, right? They're basic sentences. They make you stretch a little bit if you were a child. And it's like, that's nice. That's great. But, like, we are too far gone into, like, how much we're putting into the art style, the character design, the world design, to just not make this, like the Pokemon anime, the Pokemon movies that the children have seen, like, we gotta go AAA budget on this. We gotta go big and beyond. I don't know why we're up there already and not doing.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
See.
Blessing
And that's where I meet with you, where I totally agree of. Pokemon should have more. It should have more, you know, flashiness. It should have more flair. It should have more production in terms of the look, the sound, the feel. They have the charm. Yeah, obviously they got the charm. They got the stuff. They got the Pokemon. But yeah, like, I. I felt that way for. About Pokemon the entire switch generation, right?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And I this.
Blessing
And I say switch generation because I didn't own a DS or a 3DS and so I kind of took a break after the Game Boy advance games. Hopped back in when we got to switch and I'm like, oh, we're still here. Like Pokemon. Everything else has evolved. Pun intended. Pokemon. You got to get with the times. We got to catch up a little bit. So I agree with you there.
Mike
So now let's go on to the rest of Pokemon. Okay. Now we're in the city. Bless. They've trapped these Pokemon in wild zones, which is one city block. And all they give them is just basic road roadway to live in. And that's not okay. Okay. Let these Pokemon be free, man. It's up that.
Blessing
Well, you're in a city, right?
Mike
They're like, we blocked off a block and I just.
Blessing
What do you. You want what? You want them to knock down like the downtown area?
Mike
I miss going on Route 101 from Pewter Town up to Lavender Town and getting lost. You want a different video game city block.
Blessing
You know, you want a different. You're playing Pokemon Zeta A. The whole premise of this game is that you're in Paris, basically. You know, you're in a city. You are in a city. What do you want out of these people?
Mike
I just. I want them to be free. I want these Pokemon out. You know what I mean?
Blessing
Yeah. Have you heard, have you played Pokemon Sword?
Mike
And then what's up with me running around?
Blessing
What do you mean?
Mike
There's this weird new one where we're. We're real time casting the abilities of my Pokemon. So like the building up a bar, but I as the trainer am running in circles for no reason as of right now. Right. They taught me a dodge roll. They got me running in circles and. And the other trainer, the AI is like in between the two Pokemon getting fire blasted and water spouted on. And I'm over in the corner like, why are you moving? Like none of this is happening to us. I think, why do I have to move? I should be the Pokemon moving. Like Totodile. Why. Why do I got to move?
Blessing
Well, cuz you don't play in Pokemon. You don't play as the Pokemon. You play as the trainer. But also I think, I think what you're asking for is more late game stuff where it is going to be when you're doing the pokey raids or whatever. Like when you're. I forget what they're called. I haven't, I haven't given that deep into Pokemon Z to A yet. But I'm pretty sure once you're doing like the big Pokemon battles or after like the big old Pokemon, the raid stuff, then you're going to have to do the dodge roll and actually like maintain your, the health of your actual trainer. But like you're early in a Pokemon game. Like, yeah, shit's going to be simple.
Mike
It's a long hour. The long first hour. Very long.
Blessing
You're not enjoying it so far?
Mike
No, I'm. I'm in.
Blessing
This is a long first hour.
Mike
It's a long first hour. Very long first hour. Never forget Pal World. Remember that. Never forget Power World was so good.
Blessing
I can't wait to play Pokemon Z Day. It's. I am not going to get to it for a bit though, which saddens me because I do love a Pokemon game, but it's that weird thing too where I know I'm going to play it, I'm going to really like it, but I'm going to have that inner disappointment that this wasn't something more. I think I identify a lot with Tim when it comes to Pokemon, that we love Pokemon so much that we just have high expectations for what Pokemon should be. And so I'm going to go into it and be like, man, I love this shit. Tim described it as feeling like playing the anime in the sense that like it is real time.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
You're.
Blessing
You're yelling squirtle. Use water gun or whatever, right? And it's all. It feels natural, it feels real time, it feels like the anime, which is all I've ever wanted. But the problem is that anime also looks really good. You know what I mean?
Mike
I.
Blessing
There's a flare, there's a flashiness to all that that the games haven't been.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Able to attain yet for me.
Blessing
But I'm looking forward to it. Enough about Pokemon.
Mike
Tell me more.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)

Super chats as we go. Go housekeeping for you. We're an 11 person business all about live talk shows. So today after kfgd you're gonna get gamescast which is Greg Miller apologizing to PC gamers.
Blessing
That's the headline.
Mike
That's a big moment.
Blessing
I don't know if I trust that.
Mike
Yeah, I wouldn't trust that. I wouldn't trust that.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And so I'm curious on what that's gonna be, but you're gonna have to tune into that to find out. Then after Gamescast is in review, it is the official Pixar in review re rank. And then after that is the stream. It is an Nvidia GeForce now sponsored stream.
Blessing
Do you know we're playing or is that a surprise?
Mike
I believe Andy and Greg are gonna surprise you, but a very special one with GeForce now getting to show off that awesome stuff. Yeah, very cool.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And then of course, today's Greg Way. We'll be coming at you from the one and only Greg Miller.
Blessing
Thank you.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
To our Patreon producers.
Blessing
Might be a part.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Okay, okay.
Blessing
His Greg Way might be embargoed is what he's saying.
Mike
Oh, wow. Okay.
Blessing
He's checking in on it. He doesn't know. Did you already record it? Did you know it was embargoed when you recorded it?
Mike
Let's talk about yesterday's Greg Way though, before he gets in here.
Blessing
I like this Halloween shirt you got going on.
Greg Miller
Thank you very much. Homage, everybody. Yeah, this is something. I floated an idea to the Greg Way audience not too long ago of like, hey, sometimes I want to talk about stuff, but it's. It would be embargoed. Would you be down for me to record a Greg Way that has to go up later or whatever. And they were all like, yeah, of course. But this one's not. Is. This isn't like a review embargo. So I think it's going to be okay, but I need to check with pr.
Blessing
Okay.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah, okay.
Greg Miller
You got to slack me. I don't mean to. As I come in, a million things happen. I know they happen for you.
Blessing
I know you're busy.
Greg Miller
This isn't.
Blessing
I'm not sure what it. What it really is is that I essentially build KHD from top to bottom. And so by the time when I get. Yeah, I hear you, that's the first thing I do.
Greg Miller
I just feel like I'm letting you down. But so many times I come in and then immediately I'm direct. You saw me get.
Blessing
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Tim pulls me into a meeting.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
It's freaking Tim. Oh, we're gonna lay somebody off.
Mike
Like, all right.
Greg Miller
You know what I mean?
Mike
Get him. Buy us donuts.
Blessing
It's finally time to roger him.
Greg Miller
You know what I mean? But Mike, we have to have a meeting.
Blessing
Later.
Mike
All right, sounds good.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Thank you to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega, Buster and Delaney. The song Twining for now. Let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report it's time for some news.
Blessing
We have six stories today. Baker's do.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Starting with our number one. Quantic Dream has revealed its first ever free to play multiplayer game, Spellcasters Chronicles. This is Ed Nightingale at Eurogamer. Quantic Dream, the studio behind narrative games like Heavy Rain and Detroit Become Human, has revealed its first ever multiplayer game. Earlier today, studio founder David Cage shared a blog post on forthcoming projects mentioning it was working on a new multiplayer game alongside continued development of Star Wars Eclipse. Now the studio has revealed Spellcasters Chronicles, a free to play team based multiplayer game of 3v3 third person arena battles. Check out gameplay in the teaser. Currently playing by Kevin, players will take on the role of the titular spellcasters, mages of distinct archetypes split between support tank or damage dealer. Further, the strategic deck build system will allow players to select from over 50 spells and summons. Plus there are summitable Titans too. Quote we're honored and excited to introduce Spellcasters Chronicles to players today. Developed in our Paris and Montreal studios, said Cage. Quote Stepping into a new genre with a fresh artistic approach has been both a challenge and a source source of growth, allowing us to evolve as a team. We now look forward to shaping the game further with players feedback and to perfecting this journey together. End quote A closed beta for the game will take place on PC by the end of 2025, with signups now open before then. The game will be shown at TwitchCon this weekend, which will also be streamed on the Twitch Land channel. Mike oh, I got. There's.
Blessing
There's quite a bit to talk about.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing
Is there a place you want to start?
Mike
I mean I'm. I am riding the high of League of Legends world right now, so I am deep into the MOBA scene. I am enjoying my MOBA high for a little bit. So we could talk about kind of the MOBA esque vibe of this 3v3. Kind of giving Dota slash league vibes. Arma vibes for those who know. All random, all middle. One lane. 3v3.
Blessing
Oh okay.
Mike
Well I guess 3v3 and this one.
Blessing
I mean Arma.
Mike
Yeah, it's a game mode within League of Legends. All random heroes, all middle. So it's just one lane.
Blessing
Wait, does three lane is ARMA the acronym?
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing
Say the words again.
Mike
All random, all middle. Arma A R A M You know what? I'm getting going right now. Give me a little time, Jeff. Give me a little time.
Blessing
Jesus Christ.
Mike
Let's talk about this. A multiplayer coming from Quantic Dream. I don't think anyone would have predicted here, especially with the catalog of games before this, waiting on Star Wars Eclipse. Knowing the baggage that this team has from all the news stories that we have covered over the past couple of years, I don't think anyone's looking at this going, I saw this coming.
Blessing
No, but Quantic Dream is such a. Interesting, strange studio. Cuz I look at this trailer. Mike, does this look good to you?
Mike
This is kind. No, I mean I think, I think.
Blessing
It looks good, if I'm being honest.
Mike
Yeah, there's, there's things I can be like, yeah, this looks good. Then there's moments where I'm like, this could be a multiplayer game that comes and goes very quickly because I've seen a million of these now.
Blessing
Yeah.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I think that's the thing is I.
Blessing
I, I worry less about the quality of the game. At least it's hard to tell from just a reveal trailer.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Right.
Blessing
I look at this and I'm like, all right, I like the art style.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Okay.
Blessing
I can see that this looks like something I'd actually want to play once or twice. I worry about I guess more of the, the ecosystem that we're in as far as mobile games and you know what we talk about all the time when you're putting out a live service and multiplayer game, what is, what does the competition look like?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And right now the competition is fierce.
Blessing
When you're putting out one of these.
Mike
Smite 2 Pokemon Unite. What's the one that Andrew Rene and Carrie Fathoms used to play all the time? Paragon into predecessor or something weird that he still plays. There's just so many of these bless and it is hard to stand out and most importantly, it is hard to get people to drop the games that they already love and have been invested in to play something new. And so you have to be really something new, fresh, fun to get over the hump of the first week of sponsored streams. People being excited for something new. Once that wears off by day eight, do you still have the staying power?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I look at this and I mean.
Blessing
You played way more Deadlock than I have. Right. You're, you and Andy are obsessed with Deadlock. I look at this and it strikes me as Deadlock with like a Marvel rival style type art style.
Mike
Oh.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Which I think, and I think there.
Blessing
Is like a market for that. I do think that there is, or at least not even a market. I think there is appeal in that. I think there, there will be people that look at this and go, no, that fits exactly what I want that like, I think there's, I'm not mad at the idea. I'm fascinated by it. Coming from Quantic Dream as a studio, of course, Quantic Dream, you know them from games like Heavy Rain. You know them from games like Beyond Two Souls and Detroit Become Human in Fahrenheit. Right. And like I, I'm, I'm in a weird place where Quantic Dream, historically kind of a divisive studio. David Cage, not a, not a loved figure in video games in general.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Right.
Blessing
A lot of people, they hate on David Cage. I'm not really a fan of David Cage and his work. I think his stuff can be cringy and off, off, off the mark. I do have, however, I do really like the Quantic Dream games.
Mike
Okay.
Blessing
Which is like weird to say because I, I, I think the writing gets weird because of the David Cage aspect. But what I like about them, and this might go back to the Blue Point conversation a little bit, is that up until now they've specialized in a certain kind of game and I think they've been able to corner that market and make somewhat quality versions of, of those. I am talking about that cinematic. Choose your own adventure game that feels like you're playing a movie. Of course we get those with things like the Telltale games or we get them with like, you know, you have Dispatch coming up and there's examples of, of those. Quanta Dream did it with a very specific like art style and a very specific, I think, way of doing it that felt really fresh and really different and really quality.
Mike
Yes.
Blessing
Like when you play Detroit, Become human and you finish chapter and you see.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
The butterfly effect of.
Blessing
Oh, if I made this choice over.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Here, that would have led to this thing over here.
Blessing
I think there is a fun in that and they're able to find the fun in that. Even though there are so many aspects of it that were goofy when it came to the writing and the plot.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And all that shit.
Blessing
I found those games really fun to play and I honestly would like to see more of that from the studio. I don't get, I don't know if Star Wars Eclipse is or was going to be that. This obviously is definitely not that, but.
Mike
This is as far from what you are describing as you can pick right here.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah.
Blessing
And it makes me wonder, are we in another place where a studio is kind of like Sacrificing their identity to chase after a bag in the wrong place. Like, are we looking, are we looking toward this mobile type thing to be like, okay, we want to make more money, but then you're gonna make less money than if you just kept doing the thing that you were doing.
Mike
Probably a little bit of yes and no. Right. Like, they bring up there was another part of the team and another studio that probably had time. Right. We just talked about, yeah, sucker punch, you and I and being, hey, this studio, we're a one game track. That's what we're going to stick with. Other studios you and I talked about, they have enough size to be able to have different projects on the go, be able to think about it, ideate and, you know, develop certain things. And here we are. And maybe, I mean, if you remember Ninja Theory, the people who made Hellblade made Bleeding Edge a couple years back.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah.
Mike
And so these are one of those teams where it's like, hey, somebody has an idea similar to, I think about Obsidian with grounded rights. And maybe there's a ground swell within the studio that says, we're having fun playing this, or, hey, we got something here. Let's show more of the team and maybe more people start to build on that. And they go, yo, let's do this. You guys are working on Star Wars. Where you at? Do you really need us? And the team goes, hey, maybe we can put this out sooner, help get some cash flow is going on, like you say, chasing the bag. That will help this and maybe sustain it. Or it dies in six months and we look back and go, maybe we should have kept the team on something else.
Blessing
Yeah, where are you at with Star Wars Eclipse?
Mike
I mean, anything Star Wars I'm very excited for what is Star Wars Eclipse. I still haven't seen enough to look at you and be like, yeah, bless, I'm all in on Star Wars Eclipse. Right. I think we saw a bunch of people banging drums and a, a crazy Star wars song. The last.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
How long ago was that?
Blessing
That feels like it was five years ago or something like that. And we've not heard of Peep since.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Here we go. It was announced in 2021 and so that's four years ago.
Blessing
Yeah, we've not heard.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I, I don't believe we've heard a peep of it since.
Blessing
I'm even trying to, like, I'm trying.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
To click into articles to see if there's any sort of. Okay, here we go. On the Quantic Dream website, they, they talk about it being okay. Here we go. Star Wars Eclipse is an intricately branching action adventure game that can be experienced in many ways and put the destinies of multiple play playable characters in your hands. Created in collaboration with Quantic Dream and Lucasfilm games set in the High Republic era, yada. Choices have consequences. Every decision you make can have dramatic repercussions on your journey, alter your relationships, the locations you visit, the battles you fight, and even the fate of the characters themselves.
Blessing
That's fascinating because that does sound like a Quantic Dream game.
Mike
I was just saying. Except for that.
Blessing
Except for the action part.
Mike
The action is a little nice right there because usually you're kind of keeping it pretty basic on the gameplay. When I think of Detroit Become Human, there wasn't too much action. But yeah, I think you have to have action in the Star wars game with that IP and then on top of that layering in your narrative decisions, matter type style that Quantic Dream is known for. And when you read that, that's the vibe I'm getting for. So yeah, I mean, I'm expecting a Quantic Dream Star wars game, maybe a little more heavy on the action, but still a lot of decisions, a lot of narrative branching paths that can go left, right, or center depending on what I do. Yeah, that's what I'm hoping for.
Blessing
Do we. Do you think we actually see this game?
Mike
Yeah, I think so.
Blessing
When do you think it pops up again, like a trailer or something?
Mike
If it's been four plus years and now you have another team working on another project, my mind would go to maybe two more years from now. I think they're banking on the other projects maybe getting them some cash flow and some help to maybe buy them some time in a perfect world. Bless. I'd like to see this next summer with some sort of announcement at like a game awards with a fun trailer. But I couldn't tell you. Bless.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Detroit Become Human came out in what, 2018.
Blessing
It's been a minute since we got.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
An aquatic dream thing.
Blessing
Right.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And obviously take your time, you know.
Blessing
Work on, work on your game. Perfect.
Mike
It you brought about quality, you brought about the level that they bring. You think of Star Wars. Yeah, that's an extra layer that you got to get even higher up on for sure.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah. But also that's just such a long.
Blessing
Wait for a new thing and makes me worry as far as what that funding looks like because we're talking about Quantum Dream, not also not being under. Under PlayStation is the wrong way to put it because they're never owned by PlayStation but I guess being published by PlayStation is the thing. Quantic Dream's last three big games were all published under PlayStation. And you still. You had that safety net a little bit there.
Mike
So I go for a smaller game.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
You got Lucasfilm.
Blessing
Yeah, that's true. That's why you. That's why you make something in the interim.
Mike
Well, you got to do that.
Blessing
But yeah, I do wonder what that looks like under Lucasfilm.
Mike
Right.
Blessing
I do wonder what that looks like.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Especially if it's most platform.
Blessing
There's a lot of questions as far as what this looks like differently from the previous things. Like you said, as long as they bring the quality, then I think you might have something. But you all.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
With the Star wars thing.
Blessing
I guess not always. I was gonna say with a Star wars thing, you got to bring the writing. But the last trilogy of movies, I proved that incorrect. But at the very least, I want a well written Star wars thing. I want it to be good.
Mike
I think we all want that blood. I. I know we all want that. I don't think anyone's going, I don't want that. You know, they want that for sure.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah.
Mike
Let's go back to this. Spellcasters Chronicles.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah.
Blessing
That's a terrible name.
Mike
Yeah. Bad name.
Blessing
Terrible name.
Mike
Really bad name. You know it?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yes.
Blessing
If I think it's gonna make it.
Mike
I think Spell Break back in the day reminds me of Spell.
Blessing
Spell Break was the first thing I thought of when I saw this.
Mike
Right. Yes. Spellcasters Chronicles. Not if you remember when Overwatch was big and then there was Battleborn. Battleborn and TwitchCon 2015 that I went to. We had Battleborn come out and that died immediately. That was from Gearbox.
Blessing
Yeah.
Mike
Yeah. This is giving that kind of vibes right here. Like you said, it's got a really cool art style. Bless the 3v3. Looks like all one lane type vibe with a moba. It will be interesting to see because you did bring up Marvel Rivals and I think the problem with that is Marvel Rivals has Marvel the IP everyone knows.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah.
Mike
And is a Overwatch clone. Right. Or Overwatch S game where it is a team arena. But you know, you're pushing the payload. You understand what's going on. Mobas. Not many. I think the general wider audience have really dove in on MOBAs. They got the PC side. You probably have a better chance with Dota and League of Legends being so prominent. Switch. You had Pokemon Unite. I don't think that set the world ablaze of new people finding MOBAs. Right. You had games like Heroes of The Storm from Blizzard tried to get new players into MOBAs and get them excited on the console side. I mean you've had games like Smite around for so long and I just don't see the general audience flocking to that. It's very tough to get people into this kind of style of gameplay, which is tough.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Let's hop into super chats here to see what people are saying about it. Of course. Naveed K. Right thing with a birthday tax. Thank you for everything you so much Naveed and happy birthday Evan Curtis also with a birthday text turned 30 today. I am thankful for KFCD to keep me engaged in the hobby as I get older and busier game daily. Happy birthday Evan. Let's see here. 0sp says multiplayer game out of nowhere. Qu Dream not doing well or something.
Mike
I think they just. I think passion project could be a. We need an influx of cash. But I can promise you inside that studio there is a good number of people who believe in this project that want to see this come out and enjoy playing it. That's why we're here.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And then we got a lot of.
Blessing
People talking about Pokemon. So let's shift gears and go back.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
To the Pokemon conversation. Mike Curzer writes in and says the lack of voice acting is very noticeable. But I'll say the gameplay with battles and catching is quite fun. Most fun I've had with Pokemon in ages.
Mike
You'll feel it right away when you start it.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yang Fam also says Mike is 100% correct. No VA throws off the immersion and makes it unbearable.
Blessing
And I, I mean I agree with that.
Mike
I'm.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I'm totally, I'm totally with the voice acting.
Mike
I think every Pokemon fan is.
Blessing
Every Pokemon fan I think would like.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Voice acting at this point.
Blessing
My only, my only rebuttal was to the point where you talked about so much reading, which I'm like Pokemon does I. There's. You're reading obviously. Because everything has reading. Well, I'm first grade reading.
Mike
My problem is I'm voice acting it.
Blessing
Oh, cuz you're playing it on stream.
Mike
Cuz I'm. I'm trying to entertain. So I got to put a little spin on that thing.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Gotcha.
Mike
Okay. And I feel that I just don't love doing that.
Blessing
You got to do what I do, which is assume everybody can read the same speed that you do.
Mike
There's moments where I go dead silent. I'm like, I'm sure they're reading this too. And I quickly click it. I'm like did I give them enough time to read it.
Blessing
Who knows? I for sure am just like, guys, you got to read it yourselves. I'm not voice acting this entire game on stream.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I'm sorry. Kyle Le Buff says in 2025, with the revenue they have from these games, not having voice acting is unacceptable.
Blessing
I.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
There's.
Blessing
There's definitely a bigger conversation here about why doesn't Pokemon have voice acting in a lot of things. And I wonder. My speculation station would be just pure peer development time.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Thank you.
Blessing
My, my thing would be I wonder if it's just we got to get a Pokemon game out every year, a Pokemon game. And so we're not going to bring in extra layers to the process that are going to delay something. We're not going to take our time. We are also talking about a. I forget if the budget was announced or leaked or whatever, but earlier this week I saw people talking about the budget of this game compared to the budgets of other things.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Right?
Blessing
Like this game doesn't have a. It doesn't have the kind of budget you usually see for AAA things. And I think that's part of the business magic of Pokemon is that they're able to put out something for $30 million budget and maybe probably sell more than a PlayStation first party game. They're able to keep that shit tight.
Mike
Well, make it like an audible book then. Have one guy read it. Just. He'll make up his voice.
Blessing
No, I'd rather have no voice acting than terrible.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Let's see, let's see what else we got here. See you Vods. And then your name gets cut off my thing. I'm sorry. They say why do other Pokemon games like Snap and Detective Pikachu have voiceover but not the mainline ones? Big fan, by the way. Great quest, great questions here.
Mike
Smaller game.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I also think there's, there's certain genres.
Blessing
That you got to have voice acting for. Like a Detective Pikachu. I Not that you should that you don't have to have voice acting for an RPG, but Al, honestly, a lot of GRPGs just don't have voice acting. Like I'm playing when I played Metaphor Refantasio. There's a lot of voice acting in that game, but there are large segments of the most triple A JRPG you can play that don't have voice acting to them because that just takes a lot of time.
Mike
Digimon's got voice acting.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
There you go.
Blessing
You look at me like that was a dunk on Pokemon.
Mike
Digimon. Digimon.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Got it.
Blessing
Why don't Pokemon Got it.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Danesta says, have y' all heard about Rogue Jack 21? It's a blackjack inspired deck builder. Looks very much inspired by Balatro.
Mike
Haven't heard of it. A lot of these coming out right now.
Blessing
A lot of them.
Mike
There's a slot machine one, there's a dice breaker one. They got a bunch of them.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah. Guitar Hero Arrow says, remember in 2021 when it leaked that they were targeting 2027 for Eclipse's release and Quantic were tripping over themselves to deny the reporting?
Mike
Okay, well, There you go. 2027, still a ways off. And 2026 would be a great time. Summer 2026.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
You know, video games show that video.
Blessing
Games, they always come out on schedule the year that they say at the beginning of the video game development cycle on track, they're always able to hit.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
That, especially internally when they announce it or when they don't announce it. Manie Bagel Boy Sanchez says. Mikey, thank you for the giveaway last night. Today I saw my family. Today I saw a family in need. And I paid that money forward since I would have bought the game anyway. Just know your money went to. To someone in need. Thank you.
Mike
Pokemon to someone.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Oh, that's super nice.
Mike
There you go.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
That's beautiful. And then one last one from Danny to you says birthday tax. Got a Costco pizza. A day off and Yote and Pokemon. A great weekend ahead. Happy birthday, Danny T. Let's move on to story number two, but before we do, I want to tell you about patreon.com kind of funny and YouTube.com kind of funny games where you can go and get the kind of funny membership which allows you to get shows ad free.
Blessing
Speaking of ads, let us tell you about our sponsors.
Mike
There's just one month left until the launch of Solo Leveling Arise Overdrive, the action RPG based on the popular Solo leveling franchise. I adore solo leveling. I've seen every episode and this game cannot come at a more perfect time as I patiently wait for the next season. And being able to experience this world solo or with up to three of my friends for some co op raids is right up my alley. Andy, if you're listening, we'll be playing this soon. In the game, players will work their way up as Sung Jinu, an E rank nobody that no one wants in a raiding party clawing their way up to becoming the powerful monarch of Shadow. If you're at TwitchCon this weekend, you can play an exclusive demo at the PC gaming stations located at the Solo leveling Arise Overdrive booth attendees will also be able to experience additional activities at the booth, including a themed photo booth for fans viewing events from home. Head to the official solo Leveling Arise Overdrive Twitch channel which will be live streaming from the booth. And we're back with story number two. Sony traveled to China to discuss mobile adaptation of the Last of Us with Tencent. This is Sandy Barker at Push Square. Sony allegedly traveled to Shenzhen, China in July 2024 to discuss the prospect of a mobile adaptation of the Last of Us with Tencent subsidiary Aurora Studios. The same team behind sued Horizon ripoff Light of Multirom. The game post has been sharing fascinating new details from fresh court filings submitted earlier today, and it's the first time we've gotten an insight into PS Mobile's efforts. The division, fronted by former Zynga exec Olivier Courtemanche, which has yet to ship a product. According to a testimony from Courtemanche. Sony met with Aurora Studios at GDC in 2024, where it was pitched on the previously reported Horizon spinoff for mobile. It's alleged this would later become Light of Multirom, but originally was intended to depict Aloy in an Asian setting with robotic creatures inspired by Chinese legends. Sony promptly rejected the project in April 2024, a month after GDC, but it would later travel to China in July 2024 to meet with Aurora Studios again. What's fascinating about this is that Courtemanche and his team believed they were visiting Shenzhen to see a mobile adaptation of the Last of Us, but were simply presented with a version of Horizon instead. Courtemanche is quoted as saying, quote I recall the slide featured a female character with costume design resembling Horizon's mix of travel, clothing and metal armor, and a robot sl animal hybrid resembling a Horizon robotic animal. Now that I've reviewed the promotional materials released for Light of Motorom, I believe that these images contained assets from the Light of Motorom game. I was confused by the slide given that we had rejected a potential Horizon collaboration and thought we were there to discuss the Last of Us, among other opportunities.
Blessing
End quote.
Mike
It's a long flight for that one. Long flight.
Blessing
It, it gives like, I don't know, like you go like you're going on a first date and then they like, you know, they pull the rug and all of a sudden you're just watching like I don't know, five, five Nights at Freddy's Lore instead and you thought you're gonna watch. I don't know.
Mike
Got him. Yeah, got him. They were like, hey, we made this look really good. Like no, we don't want that actually. Like, no, we made it look really good.
Blessing
We said no to this.
Mike
Yeah, you got an interesting situation here of course as they brought up no mobile games yet. Right. So we were in a mobile moment here with PlayStation Studios and Sony of like there will be something eventually. They're clearly finding out what it is and surprising it's not Horizon. If you watch the 8 minute long trailer on the team's Horizon esque game right there, it's looks pretty dope. And I'm like oh wow. I'm surprised they chose not, but I guess Horizon is burned them in the past. But they don't trust Horizon enough to do the be the first one.
Blessing
I don't think it's that. I think it's. I think it's more so we already told you no. Like I think it's like hey, we fudgeing said no.
Mike
Well why are we coming in thinking let's see the last of us on mobile and what is the last of us on mobile really going to look like?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I Mean why they said this is 2024. So I wonder.
Mike
Yeah.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
The Sony promptly rejected the project. April 2024.
Blessing
I wonder if it's coming off of last was online being canceled and Sony kind of wanting to fill that void. Like we had the idea of doing Elastos Online thing. So let's try to continue to chase that.
Mike
I just. I'm not a mobile gamer and I don't have mobile gamers in my life. There's a lot of mobile games out there that we hear all of these corporations really speak to of like there's a mobile audience. We want to activate that mobile audience. And I stand there every single time twiddling my thumb going, I don't know what that looks like. My mom plays Candy Crush. I've downloaded Monopoly once. But I see that we're putting Resident Evils on phones. But you're talking about something different. You are looking at something different, it feels like than just saying I put Spider Man 2 on your iPhone. Yeah. I mean I just don't see it because I don't have anything. I don't have anyone in my life going, this is the best mobile game I've ever played.
Blessing
Let me tell you about Magic the Gathering Arena. Let me tell you, Mike, this is a fascinating one because I PlayStation, they've been. They've had this mobile division for what feels like forever now. I want to say it's been four or five years. I remember talking about this since early on in psl.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Love you. Right.
Blessing
Like this feels like a. A thing that they've been chasing that they've just made zero progress on for the last four or five years.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing
So I'm surprised we're still in this place where we've not really seen much out of it. I honestly, I do think Horizon is a better fit for mobile than last list. I don't know what a lot.
Mike
I mean, you point looks good.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Why the motor?
Mike
I'm watching this trailer. This is an 8 minute long trailer they got going on here.
Blessing
I could. I could see that easier.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And I think part of that is.
Blessing
Just we talk a lot about what a Horizon multiplayer thing or live service thing can be. We bring up what you call it Monster Hunter all the time as far as making a Horizon game and Monster Hunter, like they put Horizon in Genshin. That was like the thing that originally got me to start playing Genshin Impact is that they put her. They put Aloy in that game. So I was like, oh man, I want to unlock aloy. And then 20 hours later I was like, finally unlock Aloy. I'm not playing this anymore. But I could see the connective tissue. It's. It's, you know, has a brighter palette to it. I think there's a lot going on as far as what you can do with weaponry and the different types of robots and creating new characters and creating stuff that I think appeals to more of the mobile side of things. Not that Last of Us doesn't have that shit, but I think people. People just take Last of Us a bit more seriously.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing
In a way where I'm like, what does. What does the mobile version of this look like?
Mike
The Last of Us? The feelings that it invokes when I think of the Last of Us is not something I want to, like, experience. I don't want a mobile on the go life right now, Mike.
Blessing
The last thing I want is to log into Last of Us every single day.
Mike
That's true.
Blessing
You know what I mean? Like, Horizon is a world, and give or take what you feel about Horizon. Right. So many people love Horizon. I really like Horizon. That's a world that I could log into. That's a world that I can be like, all right, let me get in, do my dailies, hunt down this thing. Take these parts.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
All right, cool.
Blessing
I'll log in tomorrow with Last of Us. Do I want to do that every. I want to wake up every single day to this up world, this dark up world where there's clickers and I.
Mike
Gotta be quiet and Joel's gotta check in with you. Like, ah, man, we just lost Maggie down the road.
Blessing
Oh, not Maggie.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Down the road.
Blessing
Oh, man.
Mike
Tomorrow. It's been down the road. You gotta go save him. Yeah. I don't know, but I will say, like, if you're a mobile gamer out there and you want to put me on, I'm definitely. I'm open to trying. I definitely don't have the best cell phone. Am I supposed to have, like, the greatest cell phone?
Blessing
What do you mean you don't have the best?
Mike
This iPhone is definitely old at this point.
Blessing
What is that?
Mike
I don't know, like a 9 or a 10.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I asked that.
Mike
Like, I know. I got a while. Look at my cool loop.
Blessing
Aren't they on 15?
Mike
Yeah. You know, it's been a long time.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
IPhone.
Mike
A long time.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Hold on, iPhone 9 release date. I'm getting to the bottom of this iPhone. Do they.
Blessing
They don't think they made an iPhone 9.
Mike
Okay, well, I'm somewhere in that area. I'm somewhere in that. How can I tell they're on 17. Stop it. I got.
Blessing
I need you to go into your settings.
Mike
Oh, I'm a 12. It says 12.
Blessing
Oh, okay.
Sponsor Voice 2
Okay.
Mike
12 Pro Max. Is this thing capable of running some good stuff?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
IPhone 12. That's from. Oh, that's from 2020. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Mike
That feels like a lifetime ago.
Blessing
I mean, yes, 2020 does feel like a lifetime.
Mike
IPhone talk feels like a lifetime ago.
Blessing
Chat, can you still play games on that thing? Let us know. I feel like that should be fine.
Mike
Ok.
Blessing
Does it run slow?
Mike
No, I'm sure just go to Instagram, TikTok and Twitter. So not.
Blessing
How often do you go to the app store?
Mike
Never.
Blessing
Oh, I was going to say they.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Tell you in the app store, don't they?
Blessing
Of like you need this version or later.
Mike
I never look at it.
Blessing
Okay.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah. People in chat are saying you're fine.
Mike
Okay. You can play Balacho. You'll be fine.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Story number three, Sony.
Mike
Good luck in your mobile endeavors wherever you land or give up.
Blessing
Like what are we doing here? You don't need the mobile.
Mike
I mean Microsoft and Xbox purchased the Candy Crush team King Mike and it's like, what are you doing with that? What's the plan here?
Blessing
They purchased the Candy Crush team. Is PlayStation going to purchase the Candy Crush? Are they going to purchase a comp?
Mike
I mean that's Zynga. Oh no. What happened to Zynga? They have the head of Zynga.
Blessing
Well, yeah, this is the head of Zynga's probably, but are they gonna buy Zynga themselves? No.
Mike
Go buy plants versus zombies.
Blessing
Well, blesses two console gamer thinking is what somebody says in chat. No, I just understand the fact that they just don't got this.
Mike
I'm opening my heart. Thank you.
Blessing
PlayStation is in Microsoft. They don't have endless resources and PlayStation is very good when they lock in and focus on the thing that's working for them. Just do what works.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
All right.
Blessing
Like we've been through this with PlayStation. They make a Vita. Ah, we don't have the resources to.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Make games for this. Let's not.
Blessing
Let's not put out games to the Vita. All right, cool. The Vita goes away. Oh, let's make VR. All right, cool. We got PSVR too. And let's make zero games except for a horizon. Oh man. Looks like we're not making VR games anymore. This is what PlayStation does.
Mike
Didn't really think that one through. Right.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Let's make.
Blessing
What was the. Was it Play link or Play? What was the one where it was like with Phones. I mean this was their original mobile push where you're playing games with Hidden agenda was one of the games.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Oh, okay.
Blessing
They made like three of those.
Mike
Use your phone as a controller essentially. Ah, that's smart because everybody's got a phone.
Blessing
Everybody's got. I mean everybody's got a phone, but does everybody does. Do people want to play fucking Last of Us on their phone?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I don't know. That's you. Was also another game. Yeah. Story number three, a manga based on the life of Smash Bros. Creator Masahiro Sakurai is out next month. This is Chris Scolion at vgc. A manga book based on the life of Sakurai is set to be released next month in Japan. The book's title roughly translates to. Roughly translates as Masahiro Sakurai Making the world more Fun with games. And promises to tell the behind the scenes story of the birth of games that entertained the world. Kirby and Smash Bros. As reported by Famitsu. The book's six chapters are as follows.
Blessing
Chapter one, Young Sakurai and Games.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Chapter two, the Birth of Kirby. Chapter three, the Beginning of Super Smash Bros. Chapter Four, the Founding of Sora Inc. Five, the Legacy. And finally Chapter six, A Beacon for the Future. The book, which was supervised by Sakurai himself, will also include various other written sections about Sakurai and the games industry, including a timeline of Sakurai's life and an article about working as a game developer. The 160 page book will be released in Japan on November 18th at a price of 1,430 yen. That's about $9.45. There are currently no plans. Sorry, there are currently no. They mistyped this. There are currently no plans.
Blessing
Oh, I see.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
No known plans for an official English translation. Cool.
Mike
Yeah, that's very cute.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
That's really cute.
Mike
Yeah, that's nice.
Blessing
Shout out Sakurai.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
You love Kat, you love Smash Bros.
Blessing
I also love the art of the.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Manga cover of Sakurai sitting at his computer with a GameCube controller. Is that a switch Control controller. It looks like a switch controller, yeah. I absolutely adore this and so shout.
Blessing
Out to this, this.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I'm gonna use this to transition into the next story which is a sadder story.
Blessing
But what I'm gonna say is that I appreciate us giving legends flowers while they're still here. Give me a. Sakurai is somebody that is beloved, has made incredible games, is super creative and I think has given such positivity and such good stuff to the games industry. And so yeah, like we should, we should shout people out while they're still still here.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Which transitions me to story number four.
Blessing
Is a sad one.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Dead or Alive Creator Tomonobu Itagaki Passes Away I'm reading from Amber V at Automaton. Itagaki, known for his work on on Koei Tecmo's Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive series, has passed away at the age of 58. The news was announced through a message posted by a loved one to his personal Facebook account on October 16. Following his tenures at Koei Tecmo Games and Valhalla Game Studios. And Itagaki founded his own company, itaGaki Games, in January 2021, where he was reportedly working on developing new IPs for PC and consoles.
Blessing
Obviously, you absolutely hate to hear news like this. You know, rest in peace, Rest in power. Tomonobu Itagaki, of course, Ninja Gaiden, very iconic for the games industry, Dead or alive, iconic for the games industry and iconic for fighting games in general.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
It sucks that you hear this news.
Blessing
On the like, on the precipice of a new Ninja Gaiden game being about to come out, right? Like seeing his legacy live so long. When you're talking about Ninja Gaiden being here since what nes, you know, being such a classic video game series, being.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Able to stay so long, that is.
Blessing
That's power right there as far as.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
What you're able to bring to the table in video games. And so rest in peace.
Mike
Rest in peace.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Final news story. Story number five. Battlefield 6 has sold over 7 million units in three days, making it the biggest franchise launch ever, says EA. This is Alessio Palumbo at WCCF Tech. Following Alenia analytics report that Battlefield 6 has sold more than six and a half million units, publisher EA has now confirmed that the game has indeed sold more than 7 million copies just in the first three days. This means Battlefield 6 is officially the biggest franchise launch ever. Over 172 million matches were played online during the first weekend and and players accumulated over 15 million hours of streaming. As as previously reported, the game also registered the most concurrent players in Battlefield history.
Blessing
Congratulations.
Mike
Wow.
Blessing
They did it.
Mike
They did.
Blessing
Can you believe they did it? I kind of can't.
Mike
You know, I made the joke on a little fun Tik Tok I I've made. But like, it feels truly like it's been 10 years since battlefield has really been up and been the one. Right? And now I'm excluding two games that came in between them. Yeah, Battlefield 1 in 2042. Yeah. Right. But like, it is nice to see Battlefield really get the love it deserves and have people excited to play it, right? This is very, very good. The game is good. The game is super fun to play. It's awesome to see people buy. People buy in and want to play it right? And so it has nothing but up right now. I will say now you have a big challenge. You got to keep this audience, right? You got to keep the player base. You got to keep them satisfied, excited. How do you continue to build off of. That's right. Is the rumored Battle Royale somewhere near? What's the map layout? What's the map plan? Right. You only have nine maps right now. How do I keep you, the player, engaged and in the ecosystem? Because right now people are loving this and that's what I want you to say throughout the rest of the year. That's my goal.
Blessing
I can't, I can't imagine being a developer and like being like, guys, we did it. We sold 7 million. And then listen to Mike be like, all right, what are you giving me next?
Mike
What you have to do. We talked about this with Halo. We celebrated Halo. We all stood up on our chairs. We were like, this rocks, man. Halo's so back. And then two months later, you're like, mike, I'm so bored of playing. Yeah, I'm playing Halo on streets all day and I'm so bored. Right? And so it's like to this team, you did exactly what you planned to do. We've seen this for the past two months. Since the betas, people have been going crazy for Battlefield. They love Battlefield, they want more Battlefield. Now it is your job to figure out how to keep them there.
Blessing
So I got two.
Mike
Not many games nail this.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I got two questions for you.
Mike
Lay it on me.
Blessing
One, what did Battlefield 6 do right? What did they get right? That, that that led to this?
Mike
They launched with minimal bugs and issues. That was a big factor there.
Blessing
Okay.
Mike
They also, I think, in my personal opinion, sized down the maps. They really identified what they wanted to be known for. I always say my favorite word in gaming was Levolution. You don't see Levolution happening in these maps. Right? There's the all out destruction that they're being known for. Right?
Blessing
Love that.
Mike
There's no one giant thing being changed on the map forever. Right? They really focused in and I think the maps are smaller now to keep people more engaged. When you played 2042 and you played that first Florida map and it was way too big and you got bored running from left to right, side to side to go from different Points to points to points. And so now I think they really focused in on, like, make it a little bit smaller, keep it tighter, keep the gun play happening at all times so people are always in it. And that's, you know, my two big takeaways. Minimal bugs, no crashing. And hey, we've reduced the size of these maps to keep people more engaged instead of getting them bored.
Blessing
Keep that shit tight.
Mike
That's what you got to do.
Blessing
Second question for you.
Mike
Lay it on me.
Blessing
The Call of Duty factor. What does this do as far as, like, when the Call of duty Black Ops 7.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Are we on 7?
Blessing
I'm Call of Duty, Black Ops 7 comes out. Do you think that this is more now becoming a more head to head battle like we would talk about back in the day with Battlefield 3 versus Call of Duty? Is should Battlefield be. Should Call of Duty be scared of Battlefield or should Battlefield be scared of Call of Duty? Like, do we see Call of Duty coming out and then sucking up the player base that we're seeing coming to.
Mike
Battlefield now start, because everyone's going to get on me. First off, as the players, you should be very happy that you have two great shooters coming at you. We celebrate that now on the opposite side.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Right.
Mike
Battlefield has a very long road and two big tasks. I say two because it's not just Call of Duty. At the end of the month, we're getting Arc Raiders, which is an Extraction shooter that everybody and their mother have somehow found out about and is excited to play.
Blessing
Yeah, right.
Mike
We went from Escape from Tarkov being too difficult and not enough people playing that and they don't want to play that to now. Extraction shooters seem to be all the rage and people are interested in trying it. Right. And that's at the end of the month. Then following that is Call of duty Black Ops 7, which we all know we're on the hamster wheel. As much as people want to dog on Call of Duty, as much as people say, I'm leaving Call of Duty in the bustle in the past, we go back.
Blessing
Yeah.
Mike
No matter what, you will go back. And so for Battlefield, you have to find ways to keep players engaged and excited. From modes to maps, it doesn't matter because you have two big uphill battles to fight that is going to start clawing at your audience. And by December 1st to January 1st, we will really start to see the rocky road of like, all these games and their player bases and where their players go. Because no matter what, on October 30th, you're going to take a player hit because people are going to arc Raiders and then whatever call of duty's date is November, we'll just call it 14th for fun. I don't know it off the top of my head. Players are going to go, right? And so your goal over these next three months is to withstand that. Or if you're EA and you've gotten 7 million units sold, you say, mike, none of that matters. We made a bunch of money.
Blessing
We're happy you nailed November 14th, by the way.
Mike
Oh, thank you.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Just shot that from the hip, Mike.
Blessing
Battlefield 6 is doing huge numbers, but.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
They can can it maintain those huge numbers?
Blessing
We'll have to wait and see. But if I wanted something smaller, say.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
The tiniest news, I need to know, where would I go?
Mike
Bless you. Go to our last story, the WE News Channel where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Story number six is WE News, starting off with one from the Verge. Microsoft is reportedly moving Surface production out of China. The report claims Microsoft has already shifted some of its existing server production outside outside China and is pushing to also produce more Xbox consoles outside of the country. This next one is from Noble via VGC. McDonald's Japan is selling Street Fighter themed burgers based on Ryu Ken and Chun Li.
Blessing
Really exciting.
Mike
That's pretty cool.
Blessing
I love that.
Mike
That's pretty cool.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Two Point Museum Cross Vampire Survivors Free update is now available from VGC. WWE 2K25 gets John Cena themed farewell tour DLC today, which also adds Brock Lesnar. Okay, Splinter Cell Death Watch has been renewed for a second season and then.
Blessing
One final one from vgc, two US.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Senators have voiced their concerns about the upcoming acquisition of EA by a group of private investors, including Saudi Arabia's Sovereign wealth Public investment fund. United States Senators Richard Blumenthal and Elizabeth Warren have now questioned the deal, warning of potential security risks and foreign influence over the Saudi funded acquisition. In a letter to Secretary of the Treasury Scott Besant, who also serves as Chair of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, the two senators urged the committee to apply search searching scrutiny to this unprecedented foreign. Sorry, Unprecedented proposed foreign privatization of a major American technology and entertainment company.
Mike
Okay.
Blessing
I know there's a lot there.
Mike
Hey, but remember after the Microsoft deal, right? Was it the head of the FTC came out and was like told y' all wasn't happy with this. So this is definitely something to keep an eye on. I'm sure we'll talk more about that as it goes.
Blessing
I. I would like to see, I guess scrutiny applied to this In I guess, a similar way. But given the people that are going, given the people that are making this purchase, I think this will go through just fine.
Mike
Sadly.
Blessing
Very sadly. And that is it for Wedus.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Let's hop into super chats, see what y' all are talking about here. Falcon4196 says shout out to Mike for keeping an iPhone for five years.
Mike
I'm doing my best. I even dropped this in an abandoned ghost tunnel and I can't hear out of the. The earpiece, so I have to take all my calls speakerphone if I want to be able to hear it. I definitely got it waterlogged because I was swimming in the lake and so all the sound only comes out of one of the bottom speakers. But you know what? I'm holding on.
Blessing
Have you thought about getting a new phone?
Mike
Yeah, I think about it all the time. But then I think, man, I got to go to Verizon and that's like an hour to two hour long process just to get a new phone. And I hate that process. And I'm always the first one through the door. Mind you, bless. Every time I get a new cell phone, I'm bright and early. I'm first one waiting at Verizon. And the best part of Verizon is everybody knows it's so fucking slow that there is somehow five other people with me trying to pull the mic because nobody wants to do this. And sure, I go in there and we just DMV me. We slow this. I'm like, I want the new iPhone. I want to transfer this. Plug it in, let's go swipe the card, let's get it. And somehow typing in, what's your passcode? What's your email? What are we doing for lunch today? It's like, get it moving.
Blessing
I feel like you can. Can't you like, buy the phone? Just buy the phone and then do it all yourself at home?
Mike
I don't know. I don't. I'm so ingrained in the Verizon ecosystem that that's how my life goes. Now, as a rebuttal, how much of the process is long because you don't remember your password? No, I know the passwords. I know everything. I'm dialed in. I'm fucking locked in. I'm locked in. But I might just go buy a new one.
Blessing
I think you just do it.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Just.
Mike
You know what? Take this.
Blessing
Here's what I'll say because, like, take the first half of the day off work. Just. Just commit to. Just commit to.
Mike
No, I'm I'm being serious. Mike's getting a new phone, but the phone's fine.
Blessing
I mean, you don't have to give a reason for why you're out. But like this mark off, my mic is out from 10 to 2.
Mike
Well, I got to meet. I might not be around, so I might have a lot of free time. Greg.
Blessing
Yeah, like, because honestly, last time I got a new phone, it was on accident, honestly. Because, like, my charging port stopped working.
Mike
Okay.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And so big problem I went to during my lunch.
Blessing
I was like, well, let me just stop by the phone store real quick to see if they can like fix it real quick. And they're like, you don't have insurance?
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And I was like, I'm pretty sure.
Blessing
I do have insurance. It was the whole thing. But they're like, you just want to get a new phone, you have an upgrade anyway. I was like, yeah, just upgrade that.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing
And so it was like, it turned into like an hour lunch.
Mike
But now the problem is, is it also a mic problem? Because you know me, I love to f. Learn your backstory, ask how your day's going. Roger talked about it on the Call of Duty experience when all of a sudden we at the hotel registration and I've taken 17 minutes to log into my hotel room. Cuz I'm asking the guy what's his favorite locations to eat at.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah. What's his mama for sure. Yeah, you're doing too much conversation.
Blessing
Here's the other thing is making a stream. Mike gets a new phone.
Mike
Oh yeah, we gotta sit there and watch.
Blessing
Actually, don't do that.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
We can't make everything content.
Blessing
Just get a new phone. It's a fun time.
Mike
I'm an IRL guy.
Blessing
You get the new phone Smell. You get the new phone.
Mike
I want that new phone because it's orange and I want to put that green case on it, make it the master Chief phone.
Blessing
There you go.
Mike
I see you Stein out there.
Blessing
You're gonna, you're gonna turn on the phone and they're gonna be like, everything is AI Now. That's the other thing that they don't tell you when you get a new phone nowadays. They're gonna be like, oh, let us tell you, I don't know what the iPhone is, but for. For me by Galaxy, they're like, let's tell you about Gemini. And I'm like, do I have to? And they're like, yes, you do. It's the only way to use this phone now. All right, cool.
Mike
Oh, man.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Let's see here. Nolan Weather Says Mike. Digimon or Pokemon?
Mike
I mean Pokemon, because I know it and I love it. But I am really enjoying Digimon. I'm nine hours in. I would encourage you to check out Digimon if you're a digital monster.
Blessing
That's good.
Mike
I like that. Yeah.
Blessing
Trevor says please have Mike film his.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Experience getting a new phone. Resolute says a very small percentage, big picture. But COD is getting all of the Halo comp scene coming over with the final Halo event being next weekend.
Mike
That's gonna be exciting.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
That's true.
Blessing
There's the Halo community. Then shift over to.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
To cod.
Blessing
Is it like, is there overlap?
Mike
I mean, yeah, I think there's no. A lot of overlap in all of these. You know what I mean? That's. That's the matches. Everybody will jump to what's new.
Blessing
Right.
Mike
Like I. Sometimes I think we get a little bogged down and forget that like we're all on goldfish mines here where after a month you usually get bored of a game and you're ready for the next one. Especially when it comes to first person shooters and the same multiplayer maps over and over again. So it is usually like by month one to three you're already ready for the next thing. And we just live in this cycle all the time.
Blessing
I need more games. What are the other games that are like Halo as far as movement and like the flow of it. Because Halo I. I'm so bad at Call of Duty and Battlefield, like those more traditional military shooters don't work on me. But Halo I, Halo Infinite, I was locked the in. I felt like I was killing it in that game.
Mike
There's not many comparisons to Halo because the team arena style is kind of slowly like not many themes in there. Like it's that and Call of Duty. You have the Marvel Rivals approach, which is a hero based shoot. Overwatch, which I love. The Search and destroy games like Valerant and Counter Strike. So like you're not getting many team arena ones. X, Defiant, kind of died, came and went. If you remember that.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I did. I don't know if you heard, but.
Blessing
Split Split Gate 2 is making shooters great again. So I mean, yeah, if only, if only it was still out.
Mike
They came out with a tick tock recently where they were doing the Maui Wowie trend.
Blessing
Oh, I love that.
Mike
Onto something. You just hang around and the Maui Wowie song plays.
Blessing
Yeah.
Mike
And then someone wrote like, you don't gotta come back.
Blessing
I mean, no joke though. Like Splitgate would have been one of the. We played split gate 2 in like pre access beta, whatever.
Mike
It was like Gate was very good.
Blessing
Splitgate is a very fun game. I really like Split Gate. Too bad. Too bad that had to come and go like that. Yes, but yeah, like that type of game. What happened to Unreal Tournament? Do we still do that?
Mike
No, we don't do Unreal Turn.
Blessing
We don't do Unreal Tournament anymore.
Mike
Didn't they have Unreal champions recently? But like when I say recently, it's like, like the past seven years.
Blessing
Because the last one I played was.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Unreal Tournament 3 on my PlayStation 3. And that felt like a ghost town by the time I played it.
Blessing
But I need something like that.
Mike
You don't get those.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Damn.
Blessing
I mean, I do like Overwatch. I do like Apex as well, but.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
I need something that's more traditional.
Blessing
I'm trying to get. I'm trying to like have the announcer be like headshot, you know, I mean, I try. I played so much Call of Duty.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
And I'm just not.
Blessing
It's not that I don't like Call of Duty, it's just that I'm bad at Call of Duty.
Mike
Slow down.
Blessing
I want something that I'm good at. Oh, no, the catches.
Mike
With Call of Duty, when you say you're bad, all you have to do is slow down a little.
Blessing
But that's not what I'm looking for.
Mike
Because everyone is just blind firing and running around corners. And if you just slow down like half a second, you usually catch.
Blessing
Cuz that's why I like Halo. That's why I like Halo is I get the grappling hook and I don't have to slow down. I just swing around, shotgun you and.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Then punch you in your.
Mike
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Oh, I love that somebody says the finals.
Mike
The finals.
Blessing
Is it like that? Is it. Is it more arena pacing?
Mike
Yeah, it's arena pacing. Yeah. I. I think you might like the finals. I actually, you know what? Bless. I take it back. You would love the finals.
Blessing
You think I would love the finals?
Mike
You would love the finals. If you grabbed the squad and actually tried for like a couple of nights, you would probably really love the finals.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Okay. Yeah, thank you for that.
Mike
That's a great pull.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
James here says birthday tax. At this time of year, I like to reflect on those le. On those less fortunate, like Jesus. Like little Snowbike Ike and little Snowbank Spike. Despite what Mike tells Sarah Bond, they've not seen a scent of child support. Let them eat and play Xbox.
Mike
Thank you so much.
Blessing
Is that their names?
Mike
They're playing a lot of Xbox. Yeah. Little Mike and Susie are so. I'm so proud of them. You've seen me. We've been on a college tour, me and the kids, you know, we're going out to different college campuses. I'm showing them Stanford, of course, UC Santa Cruz. We're going to head down to Santa Barbara. The kids are very excited about the next generation, the next journey.
Blessing
Wow.
Mike
And I'm really proud of them. Great grades, too.
Blessing
Great grades.
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.
Blessing
Three kind of grades.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
4.2, 4.2, 4.2 a 4.2.
Mike
That's when you go above and beyond. You get extra credit.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Oh, I like that. An A plus plus. Kyle LaBeouf says Mike Low key, skipping his weakness for horse racing. Gotcha. Mobile games.
Mike
Yeah, I guess I don't really think of like Genshin, the horse racing game that I played was like on PC, so I don't think of that on my phone.
Blessing
But I think that's what mobile games are nowadays. Yeah, Genshin and like that.
Mike
Yeah. But like, I don't. I've never played Genshin and the horse racing game was like I played like three nights and I got addicted to it for a minute.
Blessing
Yeah.
Mike
Like, I don't know, I just don't look for those experiences on my phone.
Blessing
I guess I have a feeling that if you streamed Genshin you would get really into it.
Mike
Infinity Nikki.
Blessing
Oh, yeah, that was the dress up one.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Yeah, the dress up one which was really popular. I don't know if it still is. I imagine it still is. And that is it for super chats. Let's hop into kind of funny.com you're wrong where you write in. Let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong so we can correct it. For those watching later on YouTube and listening later on podcast services around the globe. Let's see here. Kebab says I'm not going to correct what arma stands for because I don't think Mike deserves to know to know what it actually is. After mangle it that badly for blessings Eyes only. It stands for armed assault. But the developer dropped that and went for the Latin word for war. Oh, wait, so is it not. Is it a rom? Is it not a ROM Arma or is a game?
Mike
When I think of armor, I think of it. I think of the mod that was day Z was an arma mod.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Okay, I think kebabs is wrong here. I think kebabs is talking.
Mike
Kebabs isn't thinking about Aram. Yeah, all random.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
All middle kebabs. Yeah, we're talking about all random, all middle. Let's see. Kebabs also writes in and says bless is correct. The PlayStation mobile linking line of games is called Play Link. Thank you for that.
Mike
Got it.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Eric says while probably just a joke for Mike, Sony couldn't purchase Zynga unless they do so from take two. There you go.
Mike
But he wants to make a mobile play.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
See, let's see, let's see. We're gonna stop there. We're getting messy in these super chats.
Blessing
Guys.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
A request for super chats.
Blessing
I know, I know. I want context. Try to keep it tight. Like if you can keep it tight. And then a link for. Yeah, for the year wrongs. Sorry, what I say super chats. Yeah, keep it tight in the year wrongs. Because now that I'm sitting here reading paragraphs and I'm like, well, I gotta.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Read it before I say something I.
Blessing
Don'T want to say.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
You know what I mean? Because there's some also people in here trolling and we don't like that. We don't like that. All right, we're gonna end the show there. Mike, thank you so much for hanging out with me on this episode.
Mike
Thanks for nice Thursday. You got me going. Greg Miller's gonna apologize to PC gamers next. That's crazy to say.
Blessing
We're gonna be there for it, me and you. We're gonna witness it all.
Mike
We're gonna witness it.
Host (possibly Tim Gettys)
Of course, each and every week, they run you through the nerdy news you.
Blessing
Need to know about live on YouTube.

This episode of Kinda Funny Games Daily dives into the surprising pivot by Quantic Dream—the studio behind narrative-heavy hits like Detroit: Become Human and the much-anticipated Star Wars Eclipse—announcing a new multiplayer MOBA-like project, Spellcasters Chronicles. The hosts, Blessing and Snowbike Mike, explore their reactions to Quantic Dream’s genre shift, the state of Star Wars Eclipse, and what it means for the studio’s identity. The show also covers Sony’s foiled attempts to secure a Last of Us mobile adaptation, recent industry news, and the hosts’ lively debate about the state (and future) of major franchises like Pokémon, Battlefield, and more.
Opening Banter:
Discussions include:
Announcement Reaction:
Quantic Dream, known for narrative adventures, unveils its first-ever free-to-play multiplayer MOBA, Spellcasters Chronicles, described as a 3v3 arena battler with deck-building elements.
Blessing’s skepticism:
Both hosts note the genre’s crowdedness and the challenge of gaining (and keeping) player attention amid giants like League, Dota, and Marvel Rivals.
On Studio Identity:
Blessing wonders if Quantic Dream is sacrificing its strengths for a risky trend:
Mike suggests this is likely a side project, to help with cashflow and staff morale, drawing parallels to games like Bleeding Edge (Ninja Theory) and Obsidian’s Grounded.
The team reviews what’s known (not much) about Star Wars Eclipse, announced back in 2021.
Blessing reads the official description promising “intricately branching action adventure” with multiple playable characters and strong consequence-driven narratives.
Discussions center on how Eclipse may blend Quantic Dream’s narrative strengths with more mainstream action gameplay, and what financial or publishing pressures they might be facing post-PlayStation partnership.
Forecast: The earliest realistic re-reveal for Eclipse is guessed as Summer 2026.
On Quantic Dream and the MOBA pivot:
“Multiplayer coming from Quantic Dream. No one would have predicted here…”
— Mike, 13:31
Voice acting in Pokémon:
“Every Pokémon fan I think would like voice acting at this point.”
— Blessing, 25:42
On studio identity crises:
“Are we in another place where a studio is sacrificing their identity to chase after a bag in the wrong place?”
— Blessing, 17:46
On PlayStation’s mobile struggles:
“PlayStation is very good when they lock in and focus on the thing that's working for them. Just do what works.”
— Blessing, 40:46
Battlefield 6’s revival:
“It feels truly like it’s been ten years since Battlefield has really been up and been the one.”
— Mike, 45:50
The hosts keep a lively, irreverent, and passionate tone throughout—offering genuine industry insight while riffing on news, fan questions, and each other’s quirks (“I’m so ingrained in the Verizon ecosystem” – Mike, 54:34). They balance optimism for new releases with healthy skepticism about publisher moves and maintain a community-focused, conversational energy.
The episode rounds off with quick-fire fan responses, playful debates about mobile gaming and shooter nostalgia, and shoutouts to gaming legends and industry milestones.
“Until next time, Game Daily.”
