Today's stories include Switch. Two dummy units appear at ski.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I know a dummy. His name's Tim Geddes. Am I right, everybody?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Size of the bank is oblivion Remake happening. And another PC handheld has entered the mix. We'll have all this and more because this is Kinda Funny Games Daily. Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kinda Funny Games daily for Wednesday, January 8, 2025. 5. I'm one of your host, Blessing Adioa Jr. Joining me is Mr. Stars in the bank himself, Greg Miller.
Greg Miller
I like how you refused that hand. You wanted to hit it with your diamond hand. I appreciate that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
End up smacking you in the face on accident, you know?
Greg Miller
How are you, Blessing? Three days into the new year, I'm doing fun.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm doing pretty good. I don't know what it is about. I think it's coming off a break where I keep going to sleep super late.
Greg Miller
Ah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And now I'm like, waking up is a struggle.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And now, like I do the thing where, where I commit to being like, all right, my alarm goes, my eyes are open, right. I'm not going back to sleep. But what I did.
Greg Miller
This sound like it was like slam poetry for a second. My alarm goes, my eyes are open.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
To me, my loved one. But no, I wake up and I'm like, I'm not letting myself go back to sleep. I ended up opening up Magic arena on my phone.
Greg Miller
There you go.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And just playing a few matches.
Greg Miller
There you go. And the best part of waking up.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And in my head I'm like, oh, a match of Magic arena. That'll last three minutes. These not last three minutes. These last more like 10 to 15. Yeah, but I'm here, you know, I'm a little cold, but I'm here.
Greg Miller
It is cold. I don't know why.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's getting colder and colder in this office.
Greg Miller
It's wintertime, you know, it happens.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But wintertime in SF is not like wintertime.
Greg Miller
It's actually getting warmer in SF right now. So. Yeah, it's nice actually.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
One thing that does bring you joy though is when you talk to us about how much Ben is falling in love with Sonic.
Greg Miller
Oh, my God. My son loves my heart. Sonic Prime. We. We did Sonic Boom for a little. We did Sonic prime and he told me all about it. And then we did some Sonic Boom and then we went back to Sonic.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Sonic Boom, the cartoon.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay, good.
Greg Miller
Yeah. You're not the game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The game sucks.
Greg Miller
Yeah. His first game is going to be apparently Sonic 2, because Sonic 1 is not on the Nintendo Switch Online thing. Sonic 2 is interesting. Obviously I remember that I could play. I can be Kid Tails, you know what I mean? I could play.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Have you thought about like a 3D sonic?
Greg Miller
I haven't. And that's where you would have to enter the mix and tell me what you think a good 3D Sonic for a 3 year old would be.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean probably Sonic Generations, I'm thinking for like the most approachable one.
Greg Miller
Yeah, you. We would need approachable and forgiving. Because even. Even looking at Sonic 2, right, like I know it's going to be he's going to die a lot. You know what I mean? That can be frustrating. Like you know the latest Mario wonder, right? Like that is so good in terms of like, you know, he is when he dies and he comes back as the balloon and I can get him or whatever. Like we can go through and play those levels very easily. I know going back to any era is going to be more punishing than going forward.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And that's the thing, right?
Greg Miller
Like I'm Sonic Mania have accessibility options that would have made it like don't.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Remember honestly, like Sonic Mania I'm sure will be easier than Sonic 2, right? Like Sonic 2 is still an old game. Like it's a 2D.
Greg Miller
Like I remember Sonic 2.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Like Sonic Mania I gotta imagine is probably more forgiving and like more poppy. Like I think it's more colorful. I think it'd be more interesting for a three year old. But if I'm thinking of something that is like 3D. I got my nephews when I bought them a switch for Christmas a few years ago. I gave them my copy of Sonic Forces and Sonic Forces considered like bad to okay. But they really liked it as kids. Like they liked it and also as like one of their first video games. They don't know what a bad video game is at that point. So like maybe Sonic Forces, but I think at this point I'll just get them Sonic Generations. I think that's like that. And that also, you know, if he's starting his life right here as a Sonic fan and he's from the best place, I mean start from the best place, but then also started from a place of learning the history. He's going to get all the classic levels, right? He's going to like go through the history of all these Sonic games. And so like that's a. That's a great foot to start off on.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Has you seen the movie yet? Any of the movies?
Greg Miller
No, no, no, no, he has not. No. We're just in the cartoon world right now. I'm trying to. I don't. I would need to rewatch Sonic the Hedgehog with the eyes of. Is this okay for Ben? You know what I mean? Like, I haven't. I saw it in theaters and obviously, or maybe at home, I forget. But I've seen Sonic the Hedgehog and I enjoyed Sonic the Hedgehog.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How deep will you let this wall go?
Greg Miller
As deep as he wants to go. I'm here to support. All right. He doesn't have to only like Ghostbusters and Superman. He can go like anything he wants to like, and I'll be there. I'll support. And again, the. This is cool for me as somebody who was the Sega kid growing up, like, you know what I mean? Like, I was ride or die Sonic through the Saturn. So, like, I. I have my Sonic history. I just like felt burned because Sega did me so badly that I've never come back to it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Have you considered the possible future of Ben becoming the amalgamation of all of our different tastes? That kind of funny because he's going to be around all of us throughout his adult, I'll say adolescence. But I guess growing up right, like, sure. Obviously he's going to get the Superman and Ghostbusters from you. And he's already gotten, I think, the Ghostbusters from you. Of course he's gotten. He's starting to get the Sonic from me and Tim, even though I know we didn't introduce him. But we're going to double down.
Greg Miller
You're going to double on it?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, for sure.
Greg Miller
Exactly.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm sure he's going to like, you.
Tim Geddes
Know, he's into sports, he's into skateboarding.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's true. He'll talk. He'll end up buying his first souls game at 13 and fall in love, I'm sure.
Greg Miller
Downloaded Elden Ring again last night.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Greg Miller
Started it up and I was like, I just can't deal with this.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How many times did you story? Yeah, One inspired download.
Greg Miller
I'm looking for an adventure. There are so many game. This is always the hard part of the new year and why I think so many, you know, double A mid games do so well at the beginning of the year is that I'm ready. I'm ready for a vow. I'm ready for Monster Hunter Wilds. Let's go. But since they're not here, you're like, well, what do I want to do? And I'm like, I want a new adventure. So I went through and started so many things last night trying to Find something to scratch the itch.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm in a. I'm in a similar place. I've also made my gaming what's a Bear? My gaming New Year's resolution is to play more indie stuff and, like, be more like Discovery based. As far as the game games I played. Right. Last year, one of the things I both loved and hated was the fact that I got into, like, super meaty games last year. And so I played, you know, 100 hours of Persona 3. I played 100 hours of metaphori fantasio. I played, like, over 100 hours of Tekken. And I. I played fewer games, but I played a lot more of those. Fear.
Greg Miller
I felt the same way with Diablo and Starfield DLC and all that and Fallout 76 DLC. Like, it was that thing where I played a ton. I played so in Helldivers, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I put so many hours.
Greg Miller
So many hours on the board, but it's like, oh, I didn't feel like I got around the. The bases exactly.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I want to be. I want to follow in the shoes of footsteps of Roger.
Greg Miller
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I want to be a tastemaker. And so I'm like, I want to play more indie stuff. I want to play more games that are a bit fresher and new and different. Like, I kind of missed that last year. And so I was.
Greg Miller
You say all that now and then the big titles will get here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, exactly. Because Saskree Shadows comes out. I just play that. But, like, right, I last night picked up the Steam deck, and I was like, you know What? Citizen Sleeper 2 is coming out. What if I played Citizen Sleeper 1?
Greg Miller
I was on Xbox Game Pass. I went. I'm like, andy's always talking about Citizen Sleep. Right. Clicked in. I watched the trailer. I'm like, I would not enjoy this. Goodbye.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And he was also. He was pitching me hard yesterday on it. He was like, oh, dude, you know, it's cool. Has this cool premise. And I'm like, okay, cool. What's the gameplay? He's like, oh, it's reading. And I'm like, do you move a character? And he's like, no. I'm like, is there voice acting? And he's like, all right, we'll see.
Tim Geddes
But I'm just really surprising that, like, of all people, like, I know the vibe of that game is very his shit, but, like, the game of that game is very not his shit. So when I'm hearing other people talk about it, and then I learned that Andy was really into it, I was like, huh? Didn't expect that of you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I definitely want to try it because it's. I mean, honestly, the more I hear it described, the more I'm like, this sounds like all the reasons I love Disco Elysium would lead me to loving this game. Yeah, we'll see.
Greg Miller
We will see.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We'll also see about video game news, specifically things about the Switch too, which we'll get to later because remember, this is kind of Funny Games daily. Greg Miller
It is all about how we do two daily video game shows and how we plan them.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, that's fun. That's fun. Of course, Patreon to get that. Or anywhere you can get the kind of funny membership to get that. Thank you to our Patreon producers, Delaney Twining and Carl Jacobs. Today we're brought to you by Rocket Money, but we'll tell you about that later. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have six stories today, a Becker dozen, starting with our number one. Switch two. Leaks turn into deluge as dummy units are shown at ces. This is Tom Phillips at Eurogamer and Super Chat. I believe this is courtesy of Greg Miller. Do these leaks dampen your hype for switch 2? Which I think is a very good question and one that I want to talk about. Accurate models of Nintendo's underwrapped Switch 2 have been shown off at the CES 2025 trade show in Las Vegas by accessories manufacturer Genkai. French website Numerama went hands on with one of these models and was told by Genkai representatives that it was based on access to the actual Switch 2, which it expected to launch in April this year.
Greg Miller
April.
Tim Geddes
I don't mean to derail this.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's Genkai, is it Genki?
Greg Miller
I always said Genki, but I'm. You all know, I don't know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm freestyling.
Tim Geddes
Let us know.
Greg Miller
Listen, Nintendo's about to close them up for good, so who cares?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Incredibly, the report states that access to an actual switch 2 unit via the black market is also now possible, quote, if you put up the money, end quote. Nintendo is still to announce Switch 2, but at this point it feels like there's little left to learn about how the next generation handheld will look. Still, these latest images and video of the Switch 2 dummy unit that Genkai is showing off or Genki is showing off gives us our best view yet of the hardware. Separately, yet another accessories manufacturer has begun advertising its own add ons via Amazon. In Japan, images of a Switch to a console cover from third party company Lazero offer yet another look at what the handheld is expected to look like. There's even more than this happening, right? Like why? As I was scrolling doing the morning roundup of news, I was on VGC and they had an article about how the Switch 2 logo might have leaked. It seems like every day the leaks just get.
Greg Miller
Come on, Nintendo, right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Does this dampen your hype?
Greg Miller
Yeah, just, just do, do the presentation. I mean like it, yes and no. It's like this is just such a shitty way for this information to leak out slowly but surely in the C button and this and the logo and it's like, oh come on, let's get, just pull the trigger. Announce the direct. Do the direct. Like just do. What are you waiting for?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I feel like it has to happen soon. Yeah, I feel like, especially with these leaks happening, not that like Nintendo is going to move the world to be like, oh, we got a stage presentation, we got to do it tomorrow. But I think if the plans are like early February, you might look at these and be like, we might have to move up.
Greg Miller
The problem is Nintendo so rigid that I bet they wouldn't. And honestly they're not wrong. We are all looking at all this, devouring all this information. So you know, oh my God, this sucks. I wish I could just see blah, blah, but it's like the, the millions and millions of people and millions that they want to sell this to doesn't. They don't know, they don't care. You know what I mean, and does any of this matter until you see the games? Until we know what's going on now, when do those start leaking? There are too many goddamn holes in the ship right now. Like, it's. It's pouring out. What do we. We got? But it's. Nobody.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
See, I.
Greg Miller
Nobody really cares. But I care. I don't want to know anything. Because I look at this, I'm like, it looks like the switch. I want them to be like, look. And it's this much bigger and it's this. The screens, this better quality. And it's. You're wirelessly casting and it's all stuff.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I. I think that's my thing is with the console leaks, with the hardware leaks. This doesn't dampen my hype more. So for the fact that this is all, I think, what we all expect, right? Like, oh, it's just a switch too.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You look at it and you. And it looks like a switch. Obviously, we've heard the things about the magnetic joy cons, but I'm not sitting here like, oh, magnets going crazy.
Greg Miller
How do they work?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, I'm not sitting here like.
Tim Geddes
Oh, it's because, like, the magnet rumor was, like, has been around for a while, and like, now that it's like, some of these things are more substantial and all this stuff, it makes me more excited just because I'm excited to hear Nintendo explain what the. All this is.
Greg Miller
Sure.
Tim Geddes
Right.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's like.
Tim Geddes
And because it's specifically Nintendo, I want them to bring back the couch, you know, Like, I want them to get weird with it and have fun with it. And so I'm getting more excited, honestly.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And that's my thing is the information is being presented in such a, like, weird, but also, like, I don't know, kind of a boring way of. Oh, yeah. We have CES mockups of the Switch 2 from a company that's an accessories company that apparently has, like, seen the switch 2 and all this stuff. Like, I look at this and I'm like, ah, where's height? Yeah, like, where's the gusto? And then Kendall, when they announced this thing, when they actually finally reveal it, they're gonna bring the gusto. Like, we might get the couch. We're gonna get the personality.
Greg Miller
My thing is, apparently we're getting Sabrina Carpenter.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I hope he gets Sabrina Carpenter.
Greg Miller
If Pharrell shows up, though, I'll be his beats.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It'll be his Beats.
Greg Miller
He's going to fine with that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's the games. If the games start leaking, which I hope they don't. I don't think I don't. I mean anything stuff.
Greg Miller
And it's third party Nintendo usually pretty good about their leaks.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'll just say Greg Barrett, like Nintendo game leaks, I feel like we don't get those as often.
Greg Miller
As often as other stuff. Yeah. Hacked the same way usually.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like I think if I saw like if a new Ocarina 3D or something like that leaked, I would be a bit more surprised. Granted we do get things like I know Jeff Grubb has been Talking about these 3D Zelda remasters for years. At this point he's making it up. Exactly. But like even those it's like, all right, who cares, right? Like, okay, cool, we're going to get 3D Zelda remasters. If I would be surprised if these launch games for the Switch launch like first party, especially first party launch year games for the Switch to leaked. And if they do, I think that is where I'm like, oh man, now this is taking down some of the high.
Greg Miller
It would be Amazon. Right. It's going to be something stupid like that somebody accidentally posted.
Tim Geddes
I wouldn't even see it being that because like hardware leaking at this point I, I get because you know, they're sending maybe dev kits out to you know, third party studios or what have you. They're sending you know, mockup images to third party like retailers and all this stuff. So this side of it I get. I don't think Nintendo really has to play ball with like even like an Amazon or anything until these things are announced. Right, sure.
Greg Miller
So I'm just ready again, this builds into the. I'm anxious for these games. I'm anxious for this announcement. April for the Switch. God, that sounds awesome. You know, come on.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean if it's April, they gotta announce it like this.
Greg Miller
Yes. I mean, well, I mean this has been again like how many people part of it. I don't remember the rumors fake. There was. There's been conversation as far back as like, oh, they were ready to do this. But then they're, they're delaying to get away from the US election. And then it's like so now are you delaying to get away from the inauguration? Like where are we at? Like what are we, what are we waiting for now? I mean things aren't going to get better here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's the thing.
Greg Miller
We need something in this hellscape to fudgeing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Look forward to like every month there is a generational event that you're going to read about in history books 100 years from now, you just got to.
Tim Geddes
Reveal it, I would guess. I don't know, getting away from the election, stuff like that, I don't know. But I would say it's maybe even more realistic. And again, this is just a gut feeling, like maybe they've been waiting on this and sitting on this because we've known Nintendo sit on things before, like Zelda. Like what if, like if it's launching with 3D Mario, maybe it's more so on the 3D Mario and making sure that is ready to go for sure.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean that I feel like that's.
Tim Geddes
More likely than like, oh, we delayed it because the election, you know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, I think talking about the announcement, right. I think the announcement is more so the thing that people think got delayed because of the election. But like, I, I think the rumor that we had, I think a bit over a year ago is that the Switch 2 was going to come out in 2024, like late 2024, and then ended up internally getting delayed to 2025. And I believe the reasoning that we got out of the rumors and reports was that they wanted to make sure that like the launch slate was like pristine. They wanted to make sure that everything was good and like they were going to delay the hardware just to make sure that like they could have the best launch possible and that stuff is ready. There have been other rumors and reports. Again, man, it's. It sucks to like be working off of just pure speculation on the Internet. But this is where we're at with the Switch 2. I believe there are other reports of people saying that like devs are working on Switch 2 games. Were kind of frustrated that it wasn't announced yet because like that thing was probably supposed to be out by now and like all this stuff. Right. And so all that said, I'm. I'm expecting like, I'm expecting imminent announcement. I, I would be surprised if we're talking April, which huge, like biggest grain of salt out of this news story of the April thing. If we're talking April, this you gotta announce, you gotta show off this thing or announce it or do something with it in the next two weeks.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Now if we're talking past April, like, maybe we can get further into it. Maybe we're talking February.
Greg Miller
I don't want to wait for this. February. Everybody's like, oh, there's usually a February direct. I'm like, yeah, but I don't want to wait that long.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't want to wait that long.
Greg Miller
Let's go.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I, I think it's Soon. It's got to happen.
Greg Miller
It better be soon.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want to bring in some super chats. Of course, you asked the question, does this dampen your hype? Greg CJ Split writes in and says, do you? Well, actually, no. This isn't about the hype. Foxy Steve writes, we had a lot.
Greg Miller
Of super chats before we ever even got there.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Thank you for the support.
Greg Miller
On Patreon or YouTube.com Foxy Steve writes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
In and says, my hype isn't gone since we still don't know the features and software lineup, which is what excites me. Noah Alm writes in and says, I'm still excited. The Switch 2 is the first console where I don't care about the hardware at all. I just want to see what the games are. And I think that's another thing for me is I don't really care about these leaks as much. I know this is story number one. I know we get hyped about the Switch too.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I like, in theory, I'll devour anything, but I see these leaks and I'm like, all right, cool. Like this.
Greg Miller
I just want to know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I just want to know.
Tim Geddes
Someone sent in chat. I don't know if we covered this yesterday or not. Nintendo has updated their Twitter header.
Greg Miller
I just went there. Yeah. Nintendo and Luigi pointing at nothing. This is the chat.
Tim Geddes
Yeah, nothing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, what are they porting at? Here's the thing. To add context. This was their Twitter header before. I think they'd switched it to something else. And this is them switching it back me. The revealing Barrett. The Barrett 2 with magnets. I want to bring in some. Some more super chats. Kebabs writes in. This is unrelated, but Kebabs writes in and says, I suggest getting sonic origins has 1, 2, CD3 and K. So it's like the classic collection of Sonic games.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Ian Aronoff writes in and says, happy K of 10, guys. Thanks for all you do. My mom recently passed away, so your podcasts are a bright light in a dark tunnel. I've been with KF since day one. Thanks for all that you do. Thank you so much for listening, Ian.
Greg Miller
Yeah, Ian, we're sorry to hear about your mother. That's super sad. But we're happy to be here for you, like we are each and every day.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And then DJ Kento writes in and says, just a thought, Tails can't die in Sonic 2, so if Ben played Tails, it'd be more forgiving. Also, I have Sonic animation cells from the 90s for you.
Greg Miller
You don't have to do that. DJ Kit Die. Thank you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And then I'll come circling back around to this one from C.J. splitson, who writes in and says, do you think the Switch 2 will end up being more expensive than the PS5 and Xbox Series X? I'm guessing 400. $450 for Switch 2 and PS5 and X will be around 400 by 2026.
Greg Miller
Well, it's 2025, so no, I don't think the Switch is going to come out More expensive than PS5 and Xbox.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Series X. I say no shot. How much was the Switch one with that launch? Was that 300?
Greg Miller
That's what I want to say, but I have no memory.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think at Most, at most 400 for Switch.
Greg Miller
399, you think on this one.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I think even like how much.
Greg Miller
Was the oled at launch?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
350. Oh, how much was the OLED? A good question. See, that might have been like 350, but I'm standing by. Oh, here we go. Launched 350 and then OLED came out. 350.
Greg Miller
Still 350 now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I'm going to say switch to 350. I think maybe you can get a.
Greg Miller
I think three hundred and ninety nine. I think three hundred and ninety Nine. I do. Because I think if you're doing three hundred and fifty for the switch OLED, this is the latest, greatest. Even better. Not the screen, of course, I don't expect the screen to be oled, but.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I hope that like that price would have come down by now. Right. Because Switch OLED came out three years.
Greg Miller
Ago, four years ago, right around when it was. When it was Ben was born. So. Yeah, a little over three.
Tim Geddes
Yeah, I think 350. Especially because, like the tech that they're going to put inside that thing is new tech compared to Nintendo. But in terms of like, what the actual hardware is inside, I doubt it's going to be that pricey.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So in streets are saying, like, this ain't going to have the OLED screen in it.
Greg Miller
No.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
For the Switch to.
Greg Miller
No, no. I think that's casting with this button.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, you might cast Serena Carpenter's cast arena carpenter.
Greg Miller
399. Take it to the bank.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Let's move on to story number two. Virtuous is making an unannounced Unreal Engine 5 remake. This is Tom Ivan at Video Games Chronicle Super Chat. Question for you. What do you want the remake to be? Virtuous is working on an unannounced remake built with Unreal Engine 5 for Xbox Series X, S, PS5 and PC. That's according to the LinkedIn profile of a technical art director at Virtuous in Shanghai, China. While the identity of the project remains a mystery, it's reignited speculation that a remake of 2006 is the Elder Scrolls 6 Oblivion. No, the Elder Scrolls 4. Toss the coin with Roman numerals. The Elder Scrolls Oblivion could be in development at virtual virtuous. In July 2023, a Reddit user said to be a former Virtuous employee claimed that the studio is working on a remake of Oblivion. They said that the title would make use of a pairing system that would run the game on Both Unreal Engine 5 and the Oblivion Engine. Quote, for instance, new graphics are rendered in the Unreal Engine 5 project, but most of the gameplay, physics, etc. Are still done on the Oblivion engine, they claimed. And later that year, Elite Court, a leaked court document revealed a roadmap of planned Bethesda games from 2020, which included an Oblivion remaster. Greg, do you think this is Oblivion?
Greg Miller
Yeah. Where there's smokes, there's fire, we always say around here, right? At least Tim does. And I think it would make a lot of sense. You know, you are Microsoft. You have Bethesda under your wing now. You want to make use of their ip, especially for not even a new generation. Like two new generations, Right. Since Oblivion was hot in the streets, think it would make a lot of sense to come out and do this and have it be supported. I. This is another one last night, like, I'm talking about where I was like, what do I want to play? And I like, hovered over Oblivion. I've talked. Well, I've talked about, like, right before we went on break, I was like, maybe I'm gonna restart Skyrim. I was like, yeah, you know, I've been there, done there, kind of feel where I'm like, I never did Oblivion, I never played Oblivion. So maybe I do that. Hopping around a million things or whatever. But, like, the idea of a. If they were like, hey, we're dropping a remake of it, it looks modern, I'd be all over that. Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, I'm with you. Where there's smoke, there's fire, right? Of like, you're telling me that there are reports already of them working on something in Unreal Engine 5, and it's coming to PS5 and a PC and Xbox, and, like, enough of it lines up with the employee from Virtuous, and I'm not. I'm. I think over the years I've leaned Less and less on, like. Like LinkedIn as a source of news because it's so unreliable and, like, talking to people in the industry, it's like, there's so many reasons why job posting might come up. There's so many reasons why, like, XYZ thing could end up being, you know, placed on a profile or whatever. This just lines up so cleanly and just makes so much sense. And, you know, we're talking about Virtuous, which I believe is also working on MGS3 Delta. Right. Like, they're the developer on that. Like, if this is their identity as a studio, that could be a really good identity.
Greg Miller
Step aside. Yeah, you're on ice doing whatever the hell you're doing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, honestly, like, if bluepoint. Here's my thing, if Blue Point is making the shift to working on original content and they're. They're getting out of the Strictly Remake game. Yeah, we need somebody to step in.
Greg Miller
Yeah, we do.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And at Virtuous, if they knock it out the park with the Metal Gear Solid Delta remake and then their next project is an Oblivion remake, that's a pretty good. Like, that's a pretty good resume as a developer.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So I kind of hope it's true. But also, yeah, it seems like something like.
Greg Miller
Did you ever play Oblivion?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No.
Greg Miller
Yeah, right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. My first Elder Scrolls thing was Skyrim. My first thing was Fallout three.
Greg Miller
Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Exactly.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. But I mean, if it's not this, what do you think it could be?
Greg Miller
Who knows, right? That's the thing. If it's not this and you're still third party, like, again, if you're. If it's a Microsoft thing you're leaning into, it could be a million things, right. In terms of you look through Game Pass at all these classic games, and like, again, I think you toss out if you're looking for a game to capitalize on all this, right? Like, there's been so many rumors of it, but, like, where is Fallout 3 Remastered? Right? Where is Fallout New Vegas Remastered? Like, there's. These games exist on Game Pass and they're there, but. And they obviously saw quite the uptick in Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 with Fallout Season 1. But again, if I'm Phil and I spent all this money on Bethesda and I have all this stuff now, it's like, that's great. I want something lined up with Fallout season two. Like, let's get a new game. Let's get a $70 game out there that we can say, hey, you loved that. Buy this or get game Pass and get it, you know, for 10 bucks a month or whatever.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Has Oblivion ever been on a PlayStation console? Would this be the first time?
Greg Miller
I believe maybe.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm thinking Morrowind, because Morrowind was original Xbox.
Greg Miller
Right? We're a bit outside of our world.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Tim Geddes
Oblivion was PS3, so I think it was.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay, gotcha.
Tim Geddes
It came later.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I was gonna say it wasn't hot. Yeah. Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Gotcha. Either way, right? Like, I. This would also be a slam dunk of a decision, because should I play Oblivion? I mean, you might. You might be able to get a remake, you know, just wait.
Greg Miller
How long do I gotta wait?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Probably like two years, I imagine. Here's the thing.
Tim Geddes
Here's my rebuttal to you, Greg. What do you always say?
Greg Miller
Old game's old.
Tim Geddes
Thank you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wow.
Tim Geddes
You're gonna start up Oblivion.
Greg Miller
There's not enough Western RPGs, though. I was Googling last night for Western RPGs. I'm like, I played it out.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Is a month away.
Greg Miller
I agree. Right now.
Tim Geddes
Now I'm telling you to hold off, because if you try another Western RPG right now before a vow, then you're gonna be.
Greg Miller
I don't know if I am. I think I'm that guy now.
Tim Geddes
I don't think you are.
Greg Miller
Fallout Starfield. What's the other one? Dragon Age. Now this. Like, this is what I'm craving. Non stop. I am an endless pit of. And this honestly. And I love you. And let's be friends. Let's not fight.
Tim Geddes
Let's not fight you because you refuse to continue. Metaphor. Refantazio.
Greg Miller
Because I don't like JRPGs. I don't like turn based combat. Let's stop. No, Barrett. I don't want to do a bit. I don't want to do a bit.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want you to be my friend.
Greg Miller
And talk this out with me, because it breaks my heart of. Just like it does.
Tim Geddes
It breaks my heart.
Greg Miller
Persona 5. Metaphor Octopath 2. Sea of Stars. These are games I play and I enjoy for 10, 11 hours. But then it's the idea of doing more of the turn based combo. I'm like, I just don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. What do I want to do? I want to grab a sword or a gun and wander off into the distance and fight this thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm. I'm a believer of eras, right? Like, because I. When I first started listening to Greg Miller on podcast, like, you were that guy.
Greg Miller
Persona 4.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Persona 4.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You're like the person who I'm Pretty sure convinced me to play Persona 4 from listening to be on and all that stuff. But like, I think you're just out of that era. Doesn't mean you're not going to be in that era again. Yeah, 10 years from now you might pick up metaphor Fantasio and go, man.
Greg Miller
And that's my whole thing, you know what I mean? Especially as we, you know, go to our game of the year on Monday or whatever. Like, metaphor is fantastic. Like, you know what I mean? This is very much like strictly talking as a, you know, this is where it's the weird influencer reviewer kind of critic, whatever it is. Like, I recognize how great metaphor is. Like, don't.
Tim Geddes
I'm not talking personally for.
Greg Miller
I just cannot sit there and be like, I want to do this that long. And I think it's also the whole thing of like, there's this core element of me too bear that you know so well from trying to get me on my hero that like anime just doesn't work for me either.
Tim Geddes
So the story would be so your shit though.
Greg Miller
The storytelling and visuals, like I'm. This is gorgeous. This is beautiful. The voice acting. Great metaphor. We're just talking about. It's like I just also don't connect with this kind of you giving me the story this way. Like, I would much rather go play any other Western RPG or like that. So it's just. I wish I wasn't in this era. I wish I wasn't this guy. You know what I mean? But it's just like, I'm like, I. Every time I do it, I'm like. But I could be like, last night I was, I. I did the thing, I got there on the tile and I stopped myself. I was like, Greg, you cannot jump back in kingdom of re reckoning. Like, I love that game, right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Let's just go beat the shit up.
Tim Geddes
I know what to call this era, right? This is your dad era. You're playing dad ass video games because you're Western RPGs.
Greg Miller
Dad has videos.
Tim Geddes
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Huh. Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I would say nowadays, yeah, but I.
Greg Miller
Was always this guy. You know what I mean?
Tim Geddes
Like now you're fully embracing it because you're a dad.
Greg Miller
But also I'm feasting. This is one of those reasons I'm like fucking Xbox. You don't. Don't worry. Don't worry little guy. You don't need to be one or two. You just keep giving me. You're giving me a vowed. You're also going to give me fucking outer worlds too. Let's Fucking go, Phil. You're giving me an Oblivion remake. Let's fucking go. You're doing the goddamn thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, I'm going to throw two games.
Greg Miller
You need from me. How do I support you?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm going to. I'm going to throw two. Two games at you. Balers Gate 3. I know you didn't CRPG again.
Greg Miller
It's the.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's the combat turning it to easy.
Greg Miller
But then I'm. If I'm. Then I'm gonna be like bored. I feel like. Right. Like I feel. It's just that it's. This is so much the gameplay mechanics of these genres that I just can't get over the hump with.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Interesting. Okay.
Greg Miller
And again, Baldur's Gate is another one where. And this is similar to last night where I was like I shouldn't restart this. I shouldn't start this because like theoretically, knock on wood. You said we're a month away from avowed. Like code's not that far away. So I really don't need to enter into a 40 hour, 50 hour, 60 hour RPG on that. I'm not going to finish or roll credits or move away from. I was like, do I just jump back into 76 and do something there? I was like, no. I don't even feel I'm fallouted out in the same way. I Diablo out. I diablo'd myself. I OD'd on Diablo last year. I OD'd on. I didn't satiated the urge for Fallout. I'll let that build until we either get remake, remaster, whatever or the next season drops and I'm like I really need to go.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
My other one is Witcher 3.
Greg Miller
Witcher 3 is there and it's on the thing. The only problem with Witcher 3 is just the. But they did the PS5 update so it is the whole thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's there feels like it and it.
Greg Miller
Is just the idea of like that is. I don't want Witcher 3's next playthrough to be the original Witcher 3 playthrough which was I did 30 hours and I was like, I never got out of act one. I just, I. I had all the question marks and I was just side questing and having a great time.
Tim Geddes
You would want to commit.
Greg Miller
Yeah. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
All right. Well, I'm looking out for you. I'm. I'm curious on. Great. For Greg on this journey, someone in.
Tim Geddes
Chat I think brought up Kingdom Hearts, which is a terrible recommendation.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, that's the opposite of what Greg Miller is describing here. But yeah, I feel like there is a. This is what I want from Chat because I know Chat keeps throwing out games. I want a Western RPG that's like 10 to 15 hours long.
Greg Miller
I thought about redoing another Outer Worlds playthrough.
Tim Geddes
Yeah, that was.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That was my first. Because honestly, that was the first thought I had too.
Greg Miller
Yeah. And that I think that honestly has maybe not the best chance because I was. I booted up a Link's awakening last night. I'm sure I was like, let's get somewhere different, do an adventure somewhere. And it was just like Outer Worlds again. Like, I don't know, maybe I would be the right fit. Maybe that would be the right thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because you. I remember you. Outer Worlds wasn't like you didn't like it that much.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I was. I didn't think it lived up to its promise of where it was trying to do when I reviewed it. I don't even know if we weren't even giving scores then. But yeah, I didn't have a. I didn't have a positive. I didn't think it was bad, but I have a positive. Like, oh, yeah. But I'm excited for two because I want to see what they did. But then there's DLC for one. And maybe again, playing through this with lowered expectations, maybe I feel like it'd.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Be tee you up good, maybe for a valid, similar kind of same developer.
Greg Miller
No, you know what? I'll do it. I'll cloud download it right now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And also, I mean, or not that we can move on, but hero time.
Greg Miller
Let's be honest, Greg. You just want to play Assassin's Creed Shadows. I will be honest with you. I don't like when. When that comes here. I'm going to be excited. I'm going to jump in, I'm going to do the thing. I want a vowed. Bring me pictures of a vowed. I want a vowed. Like, this is the preview. I cannot shake a vowed from my brain. And again, I don't think it's a 10 out of 10. I don't think it's going to be. But it is. Let's get fucking nerdy. I'm going to make a nerdy ass character with a nerdy ass backstory and a nerdy ass race or whatever. I'm not going to put the mushrooms on my face because that creeps me out. But I'm going to go in there and I'm going to have different dialogue options and maybe I kill this guy. Maybe I don't. Maybe I do this. Maybe do that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What if you explored DLC options? Outer worlds had DLC packs.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And like, I think the DLC was solid. Good.
Greg Miller
We're going to download it to the PlayStation 5. Okay.
Tim Geddes
It's just funny when Greg was saying at the very beginning of all this that he's ready for like an adventure, I thought he was alluding to like he's ready to get into shadows. So that's. It's surprising to hear. But I get it, Greg. I get it. Let me tell you, I was listening to a bunch of Game of the Year podcasts this last week and the way a lot of people were talking about Prince of Persia, I was like, I want to play Prince of Persia. Like that sounds so good. And then I looked at, you know, my schedule for the rest of the year. I was like, now I gotta continue Jack X Combat Racing.
Greg Miller
Hey man, you did this to yourself.
Tim Geddes
I did this to myself. And let me tell you, Jack X Combat Racing just keeps going. It doesn't stop.
Greg Miller
Outer world's downloading to the PlayStation at home.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, we did everybody. We found it.
Greg Miller
I'm looking at the add ons here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We found it for him. Let me find something for you. The audience called patreon.com kind of funny. And you.
Greg Miller
But I got a roll. I can't just jump into who I was before.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It doesn't matter for dlc.
Greg Miller
It matters to me. Ah, wasn't even that long. Maybe I could get them all done.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Ah, well, I mean, yeah, you. I mean honestly, you could beat the game in probably 15, 20 hours if you wanted to. But I'll say, you know, screw it. Just I just. Hop in man. Dlc water's warm.
Greg Miller
Also Obsidian, if you're listening, just send me a vowed Easy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I guess there's that too. There's that too. Patreon.com kind of funny YouTube.com kind of funny games where you can get the Kind of Funny membership which allows you to get shows ad free. And speaking of ads, let us tell you about our sponsors.

Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And we're back and I have some super chats for you. But even before we get into the super chats, Greg, we just had like a gaming therapy session with you.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And because you express your desires and needs in video games, I'm going to express you to you guys some.
Greg Miller
We listen and we don't judge.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Again, I'm at the top of this. I mentioned that I. I'm trying to be more explorative with my gaming.
Greg Miller
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm trying to. I'm trying to play less of like the super long, demanding games that I'm putting 100 hours into. And I'm trying to find like, I don't know, more smaller, more quicker stuff. Neat stuff, preferably indie. Even though Chat bear. Greg, if you guys have any suggestions as far as like the must plays of recently or things that I should look out for, let me know. I'm looking. I'm trying to find things that I. Barrett, you'll understand this. A few days ago I was listening to the Undertale soundtrack and like, I just had like the internal feeling of like, man, it's rare that a game makes me feel like this. Like, why hasn't there been more undertales since undertale? And thinking about it more really quick.
Tim Geddes
I just love that Greg's mind went.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
To Wonder Boy and like, thinking about it more, I was like, no, it's not that there's not been more undertales. I think I've just not been playing them, like, because obviously, you know, it's not like I'm not out here playing. I, like I've loved Immortality, which I would put in that camp. I loved Inscription, which I'll put in that camp. But I know there's more out there.
Greg Miller
Have you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Did you.
Tim Geddes
Did you ever try Pentiment?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, I. Not really. I think I booted up and immediately was like, I'm not in the mood for this.
Tim Geddes
It is a lot of reading. But I think that vibe and the way that story is told, you would really dig if you gave it a shot.
Greg Miller
In Stars in Time. Have you played this?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I started that one as well.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I started last night. I was like hot turn based on it. Yeah. Not really what I want.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And like here's my thing, right. I'm not looking for an undertale. Like.
Greg Miller
Sure.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm looking for something with like that amount of heart.
Tim Geddes
Small, nice indie game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Small, nice indie game that I'll play for five hours and might make me cry.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I know there's been a lot of conversation about this and I don't know where you left off and I don't know if we talked about it. Content Gator Mashed Potato. Great name. Super Chats. It says mouthwashing. It's incredible. I'm halfway through hours long. Is it not working or.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, I'm not half. I guess I'm an hour Steam deck.
Greg Miller
It or do you need.
Tim Geddes
Yeah, you are halfway through it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay. I am. No, it's not that it's not working. It's just that I started it on stream and I was a little bit tired and so I think I played about an hour and to stop playing it. I want to get back to it because it did get interesting.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I am interested in it. That is my next game that I'm gonna finish.
Greg Miller
Can I steam deck it?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Tim Geddes
One that I really enjoyed from a couple of years ago was a game called Eyelets. It was on my top 10 a couple years ago. Bless. And it is Metroidvania where the entire kind of loop about it is that your bring it like you're kind of the map is all separated and you're pulling it all back together. So the kind of like Metroidvania thing that like when you can find new routes is when you put like two chunks of a map back together. It's really fun and cute. But this also leads me to maybe you testing out a game for me because I have not played a game people have been telling me to play, which is Crypt Custodian is one that people have been talking about all year. Same developer. It just came out back in August and I have not had the time to actually play it. But I do want to check it out because I really loved Eyelets and so this. This seems like a fun time.
Greg Miller
That's cool.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
This looks really cool. Yeah. Shout out to the super chats that have come in. Right. Mellow fellow writes in and says, play Undertale Yellow. Bless. Thank me later. I've heard of Undertale Yellow. Looks really cool. Definitely want to check it out at some point. Y'all sing right in. It says Bless play Micah in the Witch's Mountain, which I've never heard of, but I'll check that out. That sounds really cool. Fly Flying Penguin says Bless should play the Trails of Cold Steel games. I know Cameron Hawkins when I hear it.
Greg Miller
I always love it when we like lay out exactly what we want. So he's like, well, here's something not.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That'S definitely like another again time consuming game that's going to take me forever to get through. All right, let's move on to story number three. Lenovo Legion Go S is the first authorized third party SteamOS handheld this is Tom Ivan at VGC. Lenovo has revealed Legion Go S the first officially licensed third party Steam OS handheld. The portable gaming PC boasts an 8 inch screen with VRR support infused controllers with adjustable trigger switches and hall effect joysticks. One of several new Lenovo Legion gaming devices announced at CES on Tuesday, the Go S will launch in May 2025. With a starting price of $499.99, this new handheld combines the powerhouse features of the Lenovo Legion Go S with the flexibility and console like experience of Steam os, Valve's operating system that is optimized for gaming, according to Lenovo. Featuring cloud saves that mean a seamless transition between PC gaming and handheld remote play that streams games to the device from a PC, full Steam store and Steam library access, the Lenovo Legion Go S powered by Steam OS is a big step forward in freedom of choice for gamers who are looking for an OS that is optimized for handheld gaming. End quote. Greg, does this do anything for you?
Greg Miller
Yes and no. I mean, yes. So does it do anything? Yes. Steamos moving to all these different handhelds, or starting to theoretically move to all these different PC handhelds is exciting. It's great. The SteamOS is amazing. When I play my Steam deck, I'm constantly wowed at the integration between the Steam and everything else. Like I'm getting mouthwashing right now knowing it'll be ready to go. But that's amazing. Yeah, it's more the fact of like I am, you know how much I love handheld gaming.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yep.
Greg Miller
You know, much I love remote play. You know how much. I mean I'm so many hours on all of these. I'm now. Com. I'm just so lost. I'm such a babe in the woods of. Well, what's the best one to do anymore. What? Okay, so this is the S. Like, so is it less powerful than the. But it's doing the Steam. But it's like, it's got a good price point. But how is it like, the amount of times I turn on a game on Steam deck and it's SteamOS, but it just doesn't work, right? Because it's the Steam and they want me to go. And I don't. I don't know what to do when I go in here and I just go, xbox. Make the fucking handheld. Just make a fucking handheld.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, the. The one problem I have with all this, and I don't think it's a problem in the wrong line in the long run in terms of what all this is, right? But it's the fact that I have a Steam deck. Like, well, I don't, for me, personally, right? Like, I don't need to buy a Legion. I don't need to buy any of those other things. I know they. It's not like Rog Ally is like, hey, if you have a Steam Deck, you should also buy a Rog Ally. Like, I know that's not Rog Ally. I know that's not. Because Roger Corney, I don't know. That's not like, what the pitch is and what, like, the marketing is of this. But I'm like you, where I see more of these things get announced immediately, I'm like, oh, man, there's a lot of PC handhelds. And I think from I guess our pundit perspective, right? Like, I look at it, I'm like, oh, can all these handhelds coexist? But I'm also like, well, A bunch of PCs coexist, fine, right? Like that. I think that's just what this side of the tech world is, is, hey, people have options. It's not like Lenovo is going to try and sell 10 million units, you know, to the same market that's buying a bunch of Steam decks and a bunch of Rog allies and all these other things. But, yeah, I am like you, where I'm like, all right, I'm a bit lost in all this. But I think the thing that does stand out to me in the story is the fact that Steam is going hard with steamos.
Greg Miller
Hell yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Other people to, like, use that as the basis of their platform.
Greg Miller
Because that seems like the good thing. Because I could then run the other OS on this one. That can then get me the. My Microsoft PC games easier. Yeah, like, that's the. That's the workaround. Because I still can't get my game past games through Steam Deck OS without going to desktop mode and installing and all these weird things.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I don't know, maybe, I don't know. I see my thing is I look at almost like more like Android operating system.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like hey you, these. The people that are making these hardware don't have to worry about the Lenovo OS and like having to figure all that shit out and having it be a headache for me and you where me and you have Steam libraries and like the most. The easiest way for us to, you know, have that PC experience on a handheld device is to just figure out how to get Steam on it, right? Like make Steam, like let me boot up my device and have it go directly into Steam in the way that Steam Deck does and have that experience. So now I'm in a place where for my. I know right now I love the Steam Deck and like I'm ride or die for my Steam Deck once the Steam Deck feels old to me now it isn't just automatically Steam Deck too, right? Like I have options as far as. Okay, okay, I could get like the latest and greatest Steam Deck. Or maybe I should look into the Lenovo Legion, right? Because maybe hardware wise it might have its benefits or maybe I look into other handhelds that hopefully in the future are going to feature SteamOS and like I think bust that part of it wide open as far as. Oh shit, like I have my Steam library easily accessible through all these different things. That's the exciting part for me.
Greg Miller
And did I dream this? Are they talking about Xbox doing the same thing?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, like Xbox, like the Xbox operating system on other handhelds.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't know if you dream that. I feel like I also read something similar, but I can't. I don't know for sure.
Greg Miller
Is that one of the Phil did like 19 interviews that were all over the place talking about like what their plans were for the future and mentioning the handheld image. I mean like that would make the sense of how do you get game pass PC onto these machines natively, right? Or just how it pops up and goes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's definitely, I think a kind of funny dot com. You're wrong. If people can write anything's an Xbox.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I know that. Yeah, I'm aware of that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's a new story today, says Millsy. Maybe I was in another.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, get that into your wrong if anybody watching has that.
Greg Miller
Because that's my whole thing is I just want somebody, somebody to make it so simple, be done with it. Just here it is. And I want and I. So even this one, it's just like you say you're not in the market for it. I'm not either. Right. Like I have a Steam Deck, but I don't have a Steam Deck oled. And so like the OLED isn't enough for me to pull the trigger on it. But if somebody's gonna come out and say, well no, this will do everything the Steam deck does, it's only 500, it's got OLED, which I don't know if it does, and X, Y and Z there we'd go.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. And I also do want to shout out that like if that is a new story from today, more likely we're going to talk about it on gamescast after this because the gamescast is going to be Andy and Tim talking about all the news from CES because like there's just so much tech stuff that all is like really cool.
Greg Miller
There it is. And Andy 16 hours ago Microsoft is combining the best of Xbox and Windows together for handhelds.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh yeah, drop that.
Greg Miller
Let me just give you a little bit of the thing here. Tom Warren Verge XBOX Xbox chief Phil Spencer has been dropping hints about Xbox Handheld for months. But what about Windows Handheld Gaming PCs? Justin Ronald, Microsoft's VP of Next Generation, tells the Verge that we should expect to see Windows handheld gaming experience change within this calendar year. Yeah, then we can go from there. It was a roundtable. That's why I'm seeing it. Got it. Cool.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Next news story. Story number four. Stellar Blade Dev has given all of its staff a PS5 Pro and $3,400 bonus. This is Wesley Yinpool at IGN. Shift up, the South Korean company behind PS5 exclusive action game Stellar Blade, has gifted all of its staff at PS5 Pro, as well as a cash bonus of 5 million won, around $3,400. As spotted by VGC, South Korean publication Naver reported that the eye catching bonuses were designed to encourage the company's staff. As of the third quarter of last year, 311 people were working at Shift Up. Shift up had an impressive 2024. The Sony Interactive Entertainment published Stellar Blade launched exclusively on PS5 in April and sold more than 1 million copies in two months. In July, Shift up raised 435 billion won, around $320 million in its first day of trade after an initial public offering. Greg Yesterday on the show I made the bold proclamation of in 2025. We are leaving Black Mythical Kong in 2024. This is what I'll say to this news story. Stellar Blade. You get to stay. You get to stay. Come on, Stellar Blade. We're bringing Stellar Blade with us into 2025.
Tim Geddes
Two quick thoughts I have here. It's like I between like how like the kind of heads of the Black Myth devs have like kind of been about everything ever since the game awards. And then like we haven't heard anything from Stellar Blade devs and like the first thing we hear is like, hey, we're like taking care of our employees and someone else and someone in chat was like, why is this a news story? It's because we've had so many stories in the last two years of devs getting laid off of, you know, profit margins not being big enough for people at the very tippy top. It is nice to have a story every once in a while where actual employees are being taken care of by their employers. So yes, let's celebrate that when we can, because more often than not we're hearing the opposite of it.
Greg Miller
And that's why I demand equal time. IGN needs to write an article about me. Kind of funny giving you all Xbox controllers that I got for free from Xbox notebooks and water bottles. They were great water bottles.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Bottles.
Greg Miller
Everybody's using them.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I do like the water bottles. Story number five, Tencent designated as a Chinese military company by the US What.
Greg Miller
A fucking world we live in.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
This is Matt Kim.
Greg Miller
Can we just play video games and be happy?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The U.S. department of Defense has classified Tencent, a major investor in several big video game companies, as a Chinese military company. The report from Bloomberg states that Tencent, alongside battery maker Catl, have been added to a list that classifies them as Chinese military companies. The designation itself does not carry any legal consequences such as sanctions, but inclusion on the list is not ideal for companies looking to conduct business. Not ideal looking to conduct business in the United States. As a result, while there is no immediate impact to what this designation means for Tencent, this is still a company that owns Riot Games and has heavy investments in a variety of other game companies, including Epic Games, Larian Studios, and from software. There are also reports that say Tencent is in negotiations with investing with investing more into companies like Ubisoft. Tencent has told Bloomberg that this designation is clearly a mistake and both Tencent and Catl will be pushing to remove their names from the Department of Defense's list.
Greg Miller
Previously Chinese phone said this through an automated drone Terminator.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Previously Chinese phone manufacturer Xiaomi was added to the same list in 2021 and then removed from it a few months later, in a statement to the Verge, Tencent's Danny Marty says that the designation quote has no impact on our business, but will still be working to remove themselves from the classification. Greg?
Greg Miller
Ok, we'll see if it gets removed. You know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, this is one where it's like, I mean, I don't have anything to add to this. Listen, for as little as I know about video games, I know even less about Chinese military.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But yeah, like, I don't know, for me, this is in the same vein as what's been going on with like TikTok and shit. Of like.
Greg Miller
Yep. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Hey, you know, the US Government right now is trying to limit like international specific countries from like being in a place of power and like being able to manipulate the US public.
Greg Miller
I guess only the US government gets.
Tim Geddes
To manipulate the people and that's where like the xenophobia of it all kind of comes in. Yeah, like I was going to bring up TikTok as well. Bless of. Just like, it just feels like, oh, this company is doing really well and is generating a lot of money. I, we want that money for our economy and that. It, it, it just. I know it's not the exact same thing with 10 cent, but there's something there.
Greg Miller
I was going to say we should be careful. People are calling out a bunch of different stuff that 10 cent is up about. So. And I've known since the start of 10 cent IT and their infiltration into games, people have been so worried about them and their influence and we're not, we're painting with a broad brush because what we do know is that we're very upset with America. And so it's way easier to talk about our fucking President elect talking about wanting to invade Greenland, take back the Panama Canal and invade Canada. So we have our own problems. So we're not throwing that out. We're not saying that. 10 cents. Good. We're just saying.
Tim Geddes
I'm just saying from the, like, from the angle of the United States of America in particular and our government, it just, it, it, it feels like a weird thing. That's all I'm saying.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Greg.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That might end up being big news in the long run if they stay designated as a Chinese military company or not. But if I wanted something smaller, say the tiniest news I need to know about, where would I go?
Greg Miller
You'd go to our last story, the WE News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Story number six, WE News Splash Damage is canceling their Transformers game. They posted Today quote Today we have some very difficult news to share. Which is funny to read like over this like music. That's so happy. We have some very difficult news to share. The decision has been made to end development of Transformers Reactivate. This means we'll be scaling down to refocus our efforts on other projects. Unfortunately, despite every effort, a number of roles across the studio are now potentially at risk of redundancy. End quote. Which is very sad.
Greg Miller
Very Sad.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Monster Under Wild's second beta is set for February 6th to the 9th and February 13th through the 16th.
Greg Miller
That's exciting. Yeah, I can't wait for more Monster Hunter. Is my progress gonna carry over?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, that's my thing is I would check it out but I'm like, well if I'm gonna boot it up from the beginning again when the game comes out.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wayfinder is coming to Xbox Series on January 28th. The EVO 2025 announcement show will take place next Tuesday, January 14th at 5pm Pacific Time. And Tiny Terry's Turbo Trip is coming to PS5 Twitch on February 13th.
Tim Geddes
Apparently that might be another game if you haven't played it. Blessed that you might actually really dig.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I somebody was talking about I think.
Tim Geddes
Roger really loved it and I know like the Giant Bomb crew really loved it. I know some of the people from Min Max really loved it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So yeah, I might check that one out. And that's it for wieners. We got a lot more super chats for you both for me and for Greg. I forget if I read this one. I think I did read this one.
Greg Miller
What I do is I favorite the ones I read. I hit the little heart that way. I know little breadcrumbs.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I will reiterate. Yelsing said I should play Mika in the Witch's Mountain. Alex J. Sandoval writes in and says greg, maybe fuck around in two worlds for a bit. Two worlds two. It's not a good game, but it might scratch the itch while keeping your appetite sharp for a vowed you kind.
Greg Miller
Of sold me there.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I appreciate where you're at.
Greg Miller
I appreciate what you're up to. But yeah, I don't know about that one.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Azar124 says blast. You should play mini shoot adventures if you haven't yet. I believe Andy talked about it once. It's really good short 2D Zelda kind of game. I'm going to upset a lot of people when I say this. I as much as like of course I adore Zelda.
Tim Geddes
Don't do it Bliss.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And like I know I Acknowledge Metroid. Right. Metroidvanias and Zelda likes as like genres. Don't they. Don't light me up. I can play games. Those genres that I fucking love.
Tim Geddes
Say something else.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay, well, I wasn't.
Tim Geddes
What the Zelda sucks that you're not as into 2D Zeldas.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. I mean, I'm not though. Like. And that's my thing is sometimes there are games in those genres that do speak to me. But as far as Metroidvanias. Right. It is like a rarer case of an Ori. I absolutely love a. Well, Metroid dread. Absolutely love. Right. Guacamelee. I guess more likely for a Metroidvanias in my love. But for his 2D, Zelda likes, you know, Death's Door, I really dug. But I remember, like, even that year that it came out, I don't think I was as hot on it as like Barrett and Andy and other people were.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But that's just me putting that out for my taste of your recommendation.
Greg Miller
I appreciate that. No, this is.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We listen and we don't listen and we don't judge. We're being honest here. Zeke Speak writes in and says, for me, I want to be able to play game pass games natively, but I want the clean Steam interface over Windows. From what I've read, it's. It's either or until that changes Steam deck all the way.
Greg Miller
Fair enough. Agreed.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Mikey Mog writes in and says, bless. Have you played Neva? I started never. I didn't feel the need to finish it.
Greg Miller
Yeah, me too. I had a lovely afternoon with it or whatever and I put it down and never thought about it again and moved on with my life.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Mario sand says, did Greg end up playing Phantom Liberty? I'm watching through Edgerunners right now, and it got me playing Cyberpunk and I'm absolutely loving it.
Greg Miller
I did. I reviewed it back in the day. I was low on it compared to everybody else. I enjoyed it fine, but I didn't think it was revolutionary or whatever. But I think, you know, it was a similar thing to what I'm talking about with Outer Worlds, where I jumped in with my character that I hadn't played with in however long. Right. So it was like, oh, maybe playing through and having it with who I was already and then leading off to it would do it. But I've also restarted Cyberpunk before, where after we did, I think the. I reviewed it and then you, like, followed up with impressions or something. Yeah. And you. And you were talking about, like, being the samurai. I Was like, damn, that's pretty cool. I went and started building a character that way and stuff, which was enjoyable. But again, cyberpunk's the one I'm. I feel like I'm done with. And I never loved Night City. I never connected with that world. Like I don't have the cyberpunk need vision, I don't want to live in that world kind of thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We got another one from Maximus Polyglot who writes in and says, Greg, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Evil West, Greedfall, Any of those do it for you?
Greg Miller
Been there for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Have tried Greedfall before in Evil West. I think I downloaded and tried long, long ago kind of thing. So none of those were hitting what I needed.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Did I already ask you the Outer Wilds thing? I think I did.
Greg Miller
No, no.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Flying Penguins writes in and says, has Greg played Outer Wilds? If not why I have, I have.
Greg Miller
Played in quotes Outer Wilds, which was when it was the big hit, however many years ago that was jumped in and did multiple hours of it. And it's just the, the time loop. And again the setting world wasn't where I wanted to spend time or whatever. Respect what it is and understand it's super cool or whatever. But like the slow discovery of what was going on and all that jazz, like that's not what I want.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
One day I need to be locked in a room and play Outer Wilds.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because I have that seems like it'd.
Greg Miller
Be a blessed game. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Everything, everything about Outer Wilds on paper speaks to me like it is 1000% a blessed game. The same things I love about the Forgotten City, the same things I love about puzzle games and like solving things yourselves and like Immersive Sims, all of that is in Outer Wilds. But I have started that game maybe four different times and I played like a decent chunk like each of those times. Starting from the beginning.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And for whatever reason, like I'm not. It's been not been able to get like it's claws into me and like I'm not being able to be play all the way through it. I think if I get to the ending of that game, I might fall in love and it might be my favorite game of all time. Or I'll be like, you motherfucker's wasted my time. But I've heard so many people talk about Outer Wilds and say that it's one of the best games they've ever played. So it should work for me. I don't know why it hasn't worked for me yet, but one of these days I am going to lock myself in a room and be like, yo, all right, I'm just playing through this game. I'm not stopping. I'm not allowing myself to play anything else. Greg, let's hop into kind of funny.com you're wrong. Rewrite in. Let us know what we got wrong as we got it wrong so we can correct it. For those watching later on YouTube and listening later on podcast services around the globe, Steve Jr. 1128 writes in and says more info on the Monster Hunter Wilds beta. Just a heads up, it's the same beta from November and doesn't include any of the performance or gameplay improvements they've been working on. They've said previously that if they did another one, it'd just be for people that missed the first or just want to play it again. There will be a new Monster man and then more people writing about the beta.
Greg Miller
The beta.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The beta Hero of Time says it is pronounced Genki Genki Yankee Like Spider Man's friend. Exactly. Okay, so G E N K I Genki and then this is one from yesterday, but I'll let it Sid is awesome, says this isn't so much a year wrong as just some information for Tim and bless My time at Sane Rock is actually so popular they kickstarted the sequel. My time at everShine hoping for $200,000, ended up reaching that goal in half an hour and went on to raise almost $3 million. It's actually a really great game. My time at Evershine was actually one of the first games officially announced for the Switch 2.
Greg Miller
Interesting.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There you go.
Greg Miller
Can I drop one? Super chat we didn't get to go for it. Engaged Family Gaming says super late but I'm well equipped to give advice on kids games. 3D games are hard until fine motor skills to move in a 3D space develop. I would hold off on 3D until you are more confident in his skill. I will let you know because of course my DNA mixed with Jen's DNA. Ben is a video game savant. Wow.
Tim Geddes
He's a gamer.
Greg Miller
We were playing Justice League Cosmic Chaos, which is a Diablo like over there and he's got it. He knows it. He's got it. Mario Wonder, he's got it. Which I know isn't 3D to your point, but he again, I wouldn't talk. I don't think toss him into like an adult Sonic game where you're 3D around is the move yet, but he is Way further advanced games and stuff too.
Tim Geddes
Like he was playing Hot Wheels or something at one point.
Greg Miller
Hot Wheels in Forza, he loves and he. Yeah, during when we were in the middle of kind of funny day, we did plant him at my desk and let him go. And he knows how to do everything of reset himself to the track, like go and race. And he also still the best way to communicate any button to him is through Forza. So I'm like, hit R2 or hit L2, all right. But hit gas in Forza, he's like, got it. You know what I mean?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What if I. What if I played Outer Wilds this week? What if that's the solution? That. What if that is the. Yeah, Bear. It's like, don't do this.
Tim Geddes
You're just gonna. You're gonna play it for another hour. You're gonna be like, okay, bye.
Greg Miller
What if you play Outer Worlds again with me and then we just have a gamescast review that we do an updated review.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't feel like replaying a game though.
Greg Miller
That's fair. I understand. Respect that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I loved it the first time, you know. Outer Worlds, Goddamn. I cannot wait for Outer Worlds too.
Greg Miller
Are you still in the high pipe for a vowed.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's just the setting.
Greg Miller
Got it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.

Kinda Funny Games Daily: Video Games News Podcast
Episode: The Switch 2 Leaks Keep Coming - Kinda Funny Games Daily 01.08.25
Release Date: January 8, 2025
Hosts: Greg “GameOverGreggy” Miller, Tim Gettys, and Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Timestamp: [00:00 - 15:15]
The episode kicks off with a deep dive into the latest leaks surrounding Nintendo's highly anticipated Switch 2. Hosts discuss the emergence of dummy units showcased by accessories manufacturer Genkai at CES 2025 and the availability of these units on the black market.
Greg Miller expresses frustration over the gradual information leaks:
"It's just a shitty way for this information to leak out slowly but surely... Oh come on, let's get, just pull the trigger. Announce the direct." ([10:39])
Blessing Adeoye Jr. counters by maintaining that the leaks haven't dampened his excitement:
"This doesn't dampen my hype more. For the fact that this is all, I think, what we all expect, right? It's just a switch too." ([11:53])
Listeners shared their thoughts through Super Chats, with C.J. Splitson asking whether the leaks diminish hype for the Switch 2. The hosts concluded that while leaks are frustrating, the core excitement remains intact, focusing on the upcoming features and game lineup rather than the hardware specifics.

The conversation shifts to rumors that Virtuous, a development studio based in Shanghai, is working on an unannounced remake of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion using Unreal Engine 5. This speculation is fueled by a LinkedIn profile of a Virtuous technical art director and a leaked court document outlining Bethesda's plans.
Greg Miller connects the dots, suggesting:
"At least Tim does. And I think it would make a lot of sense... Intel would make use of their IP, especially for not even a new generation. Like two new generations." ([22:21])
Blessing Adeoye Jr. emphasizes the credibility of the leaks despite general skepticism about LinkedIn as a news source:
"This just lines up so cleanly and just makes so much sense." ([23:06])
The hosts speculate on potential game releases, including Oblivion Remaster, and discuss their personal gaming histories with the Elder Scrolls series. The segment ends with Greg expressing eagerness for a possible announcement, while Tim Geddes voices concern over Greg's gaming preferences diverging from typical Western RPGs.
Timestamp: [26:00 - 43:40]
The podcast covers Lenovo's reveal of the Legion Go S, the first officially licensed third-party SteamOS handheld gaming PC, announced at CES 2025.
Blessing Adeoye Jr. outlines the device’s specifications and features:
"The portable gaming PC boasts an 8-inch screen with VRR support infused controllers with adjustable trigger switches and hall effect joysticks." ([39:00])
Greg Miller shares his mixed feelings about the proliferation of PC handhelds:
"You know how much I love handheld gaming... What do I do when I have so many options?" ([40:07])
The hosts discuss the impact of multiple SteamOS-based handhelds on the gaming market, debating whether these devices can coexist and how they compare to existing options like the Steam Deck. A significant portion of the discussion revolves around the seamless integration of Steam libraries and the potential for cross-device gameplay experiences.

Wesley Yinpool at IGN reports that Shift Up, the South Korean studio behind the PS5 exclusive Stellar Blade, has rewarded its entire staff with PS5 Pro consoles and a €5 million (approximately $3,400) cash bonus. This gesture comes after the game's successful launch and Shift Up's impressive IPO performance.
Greg Miller humorously reacts:
"Stellar Blade. You get to stay. Come on, Stellar Blade. We're bringing Stellar Blade with us into 2025." ([46:46])
Tim Geddes commends the company for valuing its employees amidst industry layoffs:
"It's nice to have a story every once in a while where actual employees are being taken care of by their employers." ([47:31])
The hosts celebrate the positive news, contrasting it with the frequent reports of studio layoffs and emphasizing the rarity of such generous rewards in the gaming industry.
Timestamp: [50:55 - 54:44]
The podcast addresses a significant geopolitical development where the U.S. Department of Defense has classified Tencent, a major investor in several global video game companies, as a Chinese military company. This designation, while not immediately imposing legal consequences, poses potential challenges for Tencent's business operations in the U.S.
Blessing Adeoye Jr. draws parallels to previous cases:
"Previously Chinese phone manufacturer Xiaomi was added to the same list in 2021 and then removed from it a few months later." ([48:55])
Tim Geddes reflects on the broader implications of such classifications:
"It just feels like, oh, this company is doing really well and is generating a lot of money. I, we want that money for our economy and that..." ([50:13])
The discussion highlights concerns about U.S. government actions targeting Chinese companies, comparing the Tencent situation to the exclusion of TikTok from certain platforms. The hosts express uncertainty about the long-term impact on Tencent and its affiliated game studios.
Timestamp: [54:44 - 60:19]
Wesley Yinpool at IGN reports that Splash Damage has canceled its upcoming game Transformers Reactivate, citing a strategic shift to focus on other projects. This announcement comes amid industry pressures and the challenging landscape for mid-sized studios.
Blessing Adeoye Jr. mourns the loss:
"Which is very sad." ([51:47])
Greg Miller laments the cancellation:
"Stellar Blade. You get to stay. You get to stay. Come on, Stellar Blade. We're bringing Stellar Blade with us into 2025." ([46:46])
The hosts discuss the broader trend of game cancellations and layoffs, appreciating the positive news from Shift Up as a rare exception. They also touch upon upcoming game releases and beta tests, encouraging listeners to stay engaged with the latest developments.
Throughout the episode, the hosts engage with listener Super Chats, offering personalized game recommendations and sharing their own gaming struggles and preferences. A significant portion of the conversation revolves around Greg Miller's difficulties with Western RPGs, his desire for more action-oriented games, and discussions about potential game choices like Outer Worlds and Prince of Persia.
DJ Kento suggests:
"Tails can't die in Sonic 2, so if Ben played Tails, it'd be more forgiving." ([19:15])
Maximus Polyglot asks about Greg's experience with games like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Evil West, and Greedfall:
"Greg, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Evil West, Greedfall, Any of those do it for you?" ([55:48])
Blessing Adeoye Jr. shares her own gaming journey, emphasizing her transition to more indie and emotionally resonant games:
"I'm trying to play more indie stuff... I want a Western RPG that's like 10 to 15 hours long." ([34:31])
These interactions provide a personal touch to the podcast, allowing listeners to relate to the hosts' gaming experiences and preferences.
In this episode of Kinda Funny Games Daily, the hosts comprehensively cover significant news in the gaming industry, from hardware leaks and studio developments to geopolitical impacts on game companies. Their balanced mix of news analysis, personal anecdotes, and listener engagement offers a thorough overview for both regular listeners and newcomers seeking detailed insights into the latest happenings in the gaming world.
