Sorry, my hand slips.
Greg Miller
We gotta get in here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We gotta get to the show.
Tim Gettys
A different part of the computer was like freezing up and I freaked out. My. My thumb. I'm sorry.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's okay. It's okay. List. It happens. All right. Some of us, we go premature.
Greg Miller
What show is this?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They never got to hear sometimes, you know, premature. It happens. It happens. You get excited. You get excited.
Greg Miller
What a horny week it's been.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, it's about to get hornier. Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games daily for Thursday, February 13, 2025. I'm one of your host blessing Adio Ye Junior. And I'm joined by Tim Ma Buggin Yetis.
Greg Miller
Listen, I've had a great 24 hours and it's going to get even better because Cobra Kai's out now. The finale, the end of it all and. Wait.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The end of it all?
Greg Miller
Oh, it's over.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like the series finale.
Greg Miller
Series finale is upon us. I'm very, very excited. I'm gonna go home and I'm binging it, watching all of it. All five episodes. Back to back to back to back to back.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's a lot of episodes. I love that for you.
Greg Miller
I can't freaking wait for tonight. But last night was great too. Last night was one of my favorite types of nights.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah, yeah, tell me about it.
Greg Miller
One of those nights that I get all comfy in my bed, G falls asleep and I pull out my phone and I'm like, what am I gonna look at right now? What nasty stuff I'm not going to look at right now? And I think back to, oh, wow, we had a. We had a game showcase earlier today.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yep.
Greg Miller
You know what? I want to rewatch a bunch of trailers. And that to me is the side of a good showcase.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh yeah.
Greg Miller
You know, reminds me of the Xbox showcase that we had the last two big Xbox showcases. Whether it was the developer direct or the big Xbox showcase last May. June. Want to say June, right. That when we get one of those Nintendo directs that like, oh, man, Metroid Prime 4 is here. Like, I want to watch this stuff. Yesterday, the amount of trailers that I wanted to pull up, Shinobi, Art of Vengeance, Lost Soul aside, Split Fiction, Midnight Walk, Darwin's Paradox, it was like, there.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Are a lot of good games.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And there's a conversation to be had. It's funny because this was a conversation I want to had. I wanted to have like, as we got into the show because the headline I have currently is, where were these games during the. During. Where are these announcements? I should say during the PlayStation State of Play yesterday because we're going to talk about Astro and we're also going to talk about Twisted Metal. But like, I think I had a realization yesterday after the show of where I'm at with game showcases and like, kind of a thing that I think makes me dread game showcases, even though I love game showcases and it's been a tough thing to kind of separate of why I get the feeling of both. And I'm excited for game showcase showcases because I like games. I like seeing new trailers. I like seeing, you know, the stuff that I'm waiting for, the stuff that.
Greg Miller
I don't know about the Tides of Annihilation.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Tides of Annihilation. Darwin, was it Darwin's.
Greg Miller
Darwin's Paradox.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Paradox, which I keep wanting to call Darwin Project because the other game. But like seeing games or seeing new trailers for new games that are going to excite me for me alone, makes me excited and gives me that feeling of hype that we all love. I think on the other hand, the thing that gives me dread is I think the idea of critiquing showcases and like, I know that's kind of part of what we do is kind of funny.
Greg Miller
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But like, I think there is an element of it that has gotten out of hand where I, I. It's hard for me to critique showcases anymore.
Greg Miller
I don't think it is. I think you do a great job.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Thank you.
Greg Miller
I mean, I think that the thing is, like, what you need to realize is when all of us are sitting at a table and all of our thoughts are kind of in line, or there's like outliers or people didn't like this or that and like, we express it the way that we do. I think you're reacting to just people's reactions, the critiques of your critiques, which your critiques are great.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Thank you. But it's also, I think it's also the thing of even removed from the audience. Right. Like, I finished watching a showcase and it's different from when I play a video game and I have all these thoughts and analysis and like, I want to dive deep into the mechanics or the story or whatever. With a, with showcases, each of them are so different in terms of what they want to do and what they want to bring to the table. I think the only time I'm coming out of a showcase with a clear thought of, oh, this is trash, is usually with the Capcom thing where they don't even try. Like, they don't even want to try. And that's the thing is it's hard for me to even critique something where it's like, you didn't even want to. You didn't want to give me a state of play. You didn't want to give me a place that you showcase. Right. And I'm watching a state of play, and I'm like, okay, well, you don't want to give me a PlayStation showcase. I'm watching an Xbox showcase. And I'm like, okay, you're giving me a very specific is the showcases are so different across the board as far as what everybody wants to bring to the table. And at the end of the day, it's all just straight marketing in a way where I'm like, I don't know, man. They're not making this for, for me to go, this was perfect. They're making it just to advertise games.
Greg Miller
Yeah. But like, I feel like that's really dumbing down, like, the artistry of it and the production that they put into it. They're making content like they're trying to entertain. If it was literally just marketing, they would just put out the trailers and back to back trailers and that's it. They wouldn't have developers talking. They wouldn't have any of the motion graphs, graphics, and all the fancy stuff and like the promotion even for the showcases, like, I. I feel where you're coming from. I just think that, like, we are in such a lucky spot that Capcom are the ones that we look at now. And like, oh, man, it's going to be bad. Because there was a long time where the assumption for most showcases was they were going to be that level of or filled with just utter nonsense. Everyone's gotten better across the board. There's just more games to talk about. There's more announcements, more hype. There's just literally just more. And I think with that, there's also way more showcases, which makes all of them. Even if they're not bad or even if they're, uh, they're great, but they're not quite amazing, everything starts to feel a little samey because we do this shit every fucking five seconds. And guess what? Animusha hits a lot less hard when we just heard it talked about a week ago in a lesser way. Yeah, bear with Topcom.
Tim Gettys
I think the other thing that I think is just the exhaustion that I feel similarly to. To you. Bless. And the point that you brought up, Tim, is like, less so people's critiques of our critiques or our positivity. It's more so. Like, I. I feel like there's this lack of separation of understanding what makes a good showcase and what a showcase has that is for you personally, that I think, like, a lot of people get upset about when they don't see the one game that they wanted to see at a state of play, which is, you know, whatever. But then it's immediately like, l showcase 0 out of 10. It was mid kind of thing. And I think that's like part of the exhaustion for myself is like, yesterday was fun and it was. It was a nice time. And we. I feel like a lot of us have at least like five games that we're all at least excited about, you know. Yeah, it would have been cool to see Wolverine or something like that, but not every fucking state of play is going to be like that.
Greg Miller
We got a major PlayStation Studios announcement that none of us expected or predicted.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And the thing for me is the rest of this year looks so fucking great and we don't even know the half of it. Nintendo. We're still waiting on Nintendo Reveal this.
Greg Miller
The most exciting thing to at least the two of us coming off of.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like the Xbox developer Underscore Direct. And now this state of play. I'm in a place where I'm looking toward the rest of the year and I'm like, yo, we're eating. At least I'm eating. I'm excited for the games of this year. I'm. I'm at a very high place of like, yo, I'm. I'm pretty much set. I'm going to play Ninja Gaien for later this year, right? Like Doom Dark Age coming out. Metal Gear got a release game. We're going to play that, right? And like there's a list of games that we got yesterday and again at the developer direct south of Midnight. It's looking like a great year for video games, at least for me in my taste.
Tim Gettys
The last thing I wanted to say, I just noticed your shirt and it's fucking rad.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh yeah, Yasu got me. This is of course Persona 4. Oh yeah, of course.
Greg Miller
Before we move on to the rigmarole and stuff, I saw this right before we went live that Sifu tweeted out that there was actually a rematch. Little teaser in Sifu. In the museum there's a soccer ball.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No way. Really? Oh, that's cool. Good for them. Good for them. I love this. Yeah, a little cheeky.
Greg Miller
It's a little cheeky.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Nobody would have put this together.
Greg Miller
Put it together. But like, I like. That's fine.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I love that.
Greg Miller
God, I love Sifu.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.

Which one? America mcu.
Greg Miller
Exact same as the showcases. I swear to God.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want. I don't want to. I don't see your thing. I want to ask you where you're at, Captain America, because I actually don't feel fully know.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I don't want to spoil it at the same time.
Greg Miller
Okay, cool. Yeah, we'll wait for. Man, wait for members later, man.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I will. I was at the theater. I watched that with y'all. Oh, what a movie. What a movie. And I don't mean that in a good way. I told me that in a good way.
Greg Miller
God, what a hater. I can't wait to hear why you would say that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.

It's time for some news. We have six stories today.
Tim Gettys
Ah, I blew it again. Blew the smoke too early.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, it's all good.
Greg Miller
That felt good.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I didn't know that felt right. Yeah, Yeah.
Tim Gettys
A baker's dozen.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Thank you. Thank you. Appreciate. Barry. Story number one. I can't talk today.
Greg Miller
It happens. You know what I mean? It's a Thursday.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Let me drink some water. Hold on, I'm.
Greg Miller
Drink that water. Yeah, water break.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Switch around. Swallow it. All right, let's get into story number one. Astrobot has five new levels and special bots begin rolling out today. This is from the PlayStation Blog. To start the year on a good note, we are delighted to announce that new Astrobot content is coming starting today. You might have noticed that a yet unreleased level of Astrobot was featured at the PlayStation XP tournament final in London on January 18th. Tim, did you notice that?
Greg Miller
I did not notice that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I didn't notice it.
Greg Miller
Which is a little weird that nobody in our spheres, like, blue, skied about this, tweeted about it, like. Yeah, how did nobody know?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, you don't think. Do you think Jeff Grubb missed the PlayStation XP tournament?
Greg Miller
I mean, well, that's the thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, nobody was watching the PlayStation XP tournament.
Greg Miller
Somebody that was there must have been like, oh, shit, there's a new Astrobot level. Like, go on Reddit. You know what I mean? Like, I'm surprised that we're learning about this, that it was public, very public.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They specifically teased it and it somehow went over everybody's hands. Nobody saw it, but whatever.
Greg Miller
We're here now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That very level, along with four additional ones, will be coming your way inside the brand new Vicious Void Galaxy starting today. As before, this new update is completely free of charge and a gift from us to you, the Astrobot community. These five levels will appear on a weekly basis as follows. On February 13th, you're getting TikTok shock. On February 20th, you're getting thrust or bust. On February 27th, you're getting cockadoodle doom. On February. On March 6th, you're getting hard to bear. On March 13th, you're getting armored Hardcore. Later this summer we'll get Stop.
Greg Miller
Real quick. Wait. Oh, no, no.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Later this summer. Later this summer, we're getting Bust a Nut and Doggy Style Mayhem. No, that's crazy. I made those up. I mean, those last year I made up. Tim didn't realize I made those up. For the record.
Greg Miller
I want you to know right now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Huh?
Greg Miller
That I have it on my screen. I just have. Busted. I didn't see Doggy Style. I do think that's the one that would have took it too far for me. I thought this was real.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's hilarious.
Greg Miller
Even if it isn't. Why is this the horniest week in recorded history? Why are they naming the levels these things?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What's. What's horny about Thrust or Bust?
Greg Miller
I don't know, but Cock a doodle. Do the word hardcore being here.
Tim Gettys
Hardcore is. That's a lot.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Armored Hardcore. Sounds like somebody made porn out of out of Armored Core.
Greg Miller
The Rust.
Tim Gettys
Thruster Bust.
Greg Miller
Jiminy crickets.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Listen. March 6, we're getting hard to bear. Let me tell you, Tim, I've been there. Yeah, I've been there.
Greg Miller
Yes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Note all astrobot updates from February 13th to March 13th will be available every Thursday at 6:00am Pacific Time. Unlike our last update, Winter Wonder, which was a walk through the Christmas park, this new update features harder levels to test your jumping skills. Each level comes with a brand new special bot to rescue and once that's done, can be replayed in Time Attack Mode with online rankings. But hold on, we still have More news alongside these five new levels, we're pleased to say that owners of the PS5 Pro will be able to enjoy an improved version of Astrobot featuring a constant best resolution while still running at 60 frames per second.
Greg Miller
I hate how nothing that statement is. Yeah, like, for a game that didn't even have graphic settings, you know what I mean? Like, you couldn't go into the options and change frame rate or resolution or whatever. Why? You're just being like, oh, yeah, if you have PS5 Pro, you're gonna get best resolution.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Does that mean, like, you can play in, what, 4K60?
Greg Miller
It'll be, like, at a constant best resolution. So I guess whatever the closest to 4k can get, if not 4k.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
See, I thought that was gonna be the part where you would most as Tim Getty's a fidelity man.
Greg Miller
Well, my thing is, I. I was already so happy with the performance of Astrobot. Like, I had zero qualms about that at all. I just think that it's a little like, what the to. These words are just so vague. Like, to have this couple sentences to be talking about the new PS5 Pro features, and they just saw. Yeah, constant best resolution. What does that mean? It sounds good. Like, I'm like, all right, cool. I like best. I like best better than anything you see.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Astrobots pores, you know?
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want to see all the details. The wetness. Tim, how do you feel about this announcement? It's funny because before the state of play, we kept predicting of, like, what could we see there? And obviously we had to talk about Astrobot content. Is it the end of Astrobot content? Are we going to see more? And I think after that state of play, we're like, okay, it's probably the end crazy to be here now, and we're getting five new levels.
Greg Miller
It's weird because after the state of play yesterday, in our breakdown, like, going over everything, I was saying that, like, it's good that it seems like PlayStation is finally starting to use State of Place the way that we've always kind of hoped that they would, which is like, yo, Monster Hunter Wilds is a big game coming out very soon. Talk about it, like, actually promote the things that are actually right now happening. And then also give a hint at, like, the near future, potentially far future, all of that. And I feel like they always do weird jobs in terms of, like, how they handle that information. This is a perfect example, though, of the other side of just, like, provide the ongoing updates for things people care about. And it's a dance for sure there's a balance to it because what you don't want is to come off like a lot of the Ubisoft showcases where they're just updated, giving you updates on every single project they have, even if it's not exciting stuff at all. But a bunch of new Astrobot levels is very intriguing news to a lot of people. Maybe not the biggest audience PlayStation has but. But a audience that wants more and wants to cheer loudly about it. Like it just seems like kind of a miss to not even. I. I feel like that is big enough news that they could have even hyped up the state of play with it. Like, hey, you're gonna get 40 plus minutes of some weird creative. Not weird creative. Creative worldwide game experiences. And I'll look at a new Astrobot update.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Greg Miller
That I think would get even more eyes on your marketing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. It's fascinating of how they handle this. We'll talk about it with Twisted Metal as well. Right. And I know that'll be maybe a different conversation because of Peacock and it's TV show and all these things. But it is very fascinating to see how they navigate State of play versus the announcements that follow. Because I think the weird thing is this coming the day after State of play makes us feel like they must have considered it and for some reason just said, no, this doesn't fit. And I want to understand the reason why it didn't fit in the state of play.
Greg Miller
I don't know why it didn't fit in the state of play when them going through their like really kind of awkward game catalog and PS+ classic section.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Greg Miller
I was saying yesterday, I think that was very poorly produced. Like it. It was a little bit hard to follow what they were even saying just with how they showed it and all that. That section could have easily had an update on a game everybody fucking loves.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Now a question about this DLC for you, Tim, is how long do we keep getting Astrobot DLC for? They ever stop with astronaut dlc?
Greg Miller
It is. Here's the thing that I love. This feels passion fueled.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Like this feels like. I mean you met these people, right. So you. And the way you've even talked about it, it's like. And it's clear playing the game, they love this game, they love making games, they love creative ideas. And I feel like as long as they have those, they're just going to keep pushing out. The question then becomes when do they have to stop and move on to the next thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Thing.
Greg Miller
I don't think that we should Expect more. But I wouldn't be surprised if we do continue to get big more drops. And also each one of these levels has a new bot to rescue, which.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Is exciting, super exciting. When one thing I want to layer on top of that, right, like having been to Team Asobi, the studio is one of the things we, me and Roger got to see while we were there is their process in making levels. And one of the level designers, like literally like he, he had us watching over his desk, right. And like showed us him essentially like forming new areas in a level and like kind of showed how easy is probably not the right word, but I guess streamlined everything is in like how much they've improved everything since even Astrobot, Astrobot Rescue mission and then also Astro's playroom, like they've taken those tools and really streamlined. So I do wonder if this is a thing of, hey, dude, like I had some time in my free time. I'm just going to tinker around, make some new levels. Oh man, this feels like it's building towards something. I think I can get this into a stage where we can push it as an update. Yeah, let's do that. Like, that's free content for our players. That's goodwill. That's something that's going to be exciting for them and it's going to. I think a lot of people just fall in love with Team Asobi that much more. But it is that wild thing of. I would have expected, I guess that cut off of. All right, boom, we're done. We're moving on to the next thing. But like, I don't know. I. This is a thing I think we should shout out of. Wow, this is so cool. But also a thing that just bewilders me as far as. All right, but like, when are you going to start? When are we going to get the next thing right? Like, are you going to start working on the next thing or should we expect more Astrobot content in the next year?
Greg Miller
Astrobot won Game of the Year at Game Awards.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yep.
Greg Miller
Why wouldn't they say game award winning Astrobot has a new update.
Tim Gettys
Kind of funniest game of the year.
Greg Miller
Yeah, that too.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Put on the box.
Greg Miller
But like, you know what I mean? It's like there's just like there's such. For a marketing event. There's such good marketing right there. But whatever. That aside, I'm excited for this. Very excited for this. I think this is kind of like a dream scenario for people like the three of us of like, hey, weekly drops of a game we Love just with little bite sized things to jump in and do. Hell yeah. That sounds like a great time. Are we going to get backed up and forget that they drop three weeks and then have three to play? Sure. That's a good time too.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. I want to bring in some super chats from the audience. El Capitan 22 writes in and says, yeah, I don't get the hate for this state of play, but plenty of games for me here and I still have a backlog. Like, why should I care if the games are third party or first party? I'm buying them.
Greg Miller
Yeah, it's bizarre stuff. Yeah, it really is.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think it is. It's based on expectations. Right. And like, I think we're so in the trenches of watching every showcase and watching every state of play that I think we have built up sort of the rule set in our heads of what we expect to see from these things. We've been saying for years of, you're not going to see this thing at a state of play. You're going to see it at a PlayStation showcase and Vice versa. Right. I think we have that built. When I, When I go on Blue sky or probably more so Twitter in the last day and seeing people tweet about being upset about it, I do see people being like, where's the first party? Where is the next God of War? Where? And I'm like, y'all, that was never going to be here. Like, that's not.
Greg Miller
We have answers to all those questions.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, we have.
Greg Miller
Not here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Not here. And honestly, like a housemark game. Being here, honestly is a surprise in a way where I'm almost like, damn, maybe you could have held that for a PlayStation showcase. I'm not mad at you showing it here because I, I love seeing it. And also this gets to be the star of the show here versus if you put in the showcase, maybe God of War ends up being the star of the show and this gets overshadowed a bit. But like, I think, yeah, like, I don't know, I. I think people just have that built up expectations of wanting the world out of a state of Play. Wanting a PlayStation 2018 E3 press conference when that's not what these things are.
Greg Miller
No. And I think I said this yesterday, but reflecting on it even more, I. I stand by it even more. I can't believe what wasn't there yesterday that we know is going to happen. We're going to get another Resident Evil announcement. It's imminent. Wasn't there Ghost of Yotei? Wasn't there Fair Games marathon. They weren't there. But like I guarantee to some extent, maybe guarantees a little strong. We're going to hear about all of those this year. Yeah, at some point for sure.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So CJ splits and writes in and says shout out to Housemark for improving Roguelite elements that were kind of lacking in returnal NPCs clear NPCs clear progression at each run. Etc. Let's go.
Greg Miller
Every single thing they said makes me go, oh, I'm gonna like this more than Returnal personally. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean honestly, this being essentially a spiritual successor to Returnal and like them them seemingly just putting more into it, I'm like, I'm probably right there with you. Even though Returnal, it is a tall ass for me of how much I love Returnal when it came out. But also take me back. But also this seems like it's just gonna be more of that but also improve. So there's a good chance that I'm right there with you if I will like this more than return on. But we will see when that final game comes out. For now, let's move on to story number two. PlayStation says it's planning to release more family games like Astrobot this is Andy Robinson at Video Games Chronicle. PlayStation says it's planning to release more family games in the future following the success of Game of the Year platformer Astrobot. Speaking during an earnings call on Thursday, Sony President Hiroki Totoki highlighted the the the team Asobi platformer's recent award success and said that it validated its intention to expand its family offerings in the future. Quote at the Game Awards 2024, our first party title, Astrobot won four categories including Game of the Year and Best Family Game, the most of any title, he said. In addition to in addition, the live service game Helldivers 2, which was released in February last year, won Best Ongoing Game and best Multiplayer Game awards. The fact that titles in genres are planning to expand in the future, including titles for families and live service games, have received these awards, is a major stride towards building a broad title portfolio. End quote. A lot of corporate speak there. Yeah, but I kind of, I'm kind of digging a little bit what they're saying.
Greg Miller
Here's my thing. I'm digging it. I'll believe it when I see it. I don't. I don't believe it. I really, really. Yeah, I don't think that Astrobot is selling the way that it needs to in order for them to put their money where their mouth is on this. Sure. Awards are Great. Obviously they're going to flaunt them and talk about them and all that, but I just don't see them committing to this the way that it sounds. And you look back at even just the last five years of PlayStation and how much they have supported some of these things. Them jumping back into Ratchet and Clank at all to this day shocks me. It felt like the 2016 remake that was coinciding with the movie was going to be the end of that franchise. And when Rift Apart was shown, it was like, holy. I was mind blown. And the game ended up being amazing. But then we saw the actual numbers of that. It's like, all right, well, it didn't seem like it was up to snuff for what even that type of game needed to be. So you add that with Sack Boy's Big Adventure and I say even just where a lot of the other more family friendly kind of IP and characters that Sony either played with before, like Crash Bandicoot, things like that, or straight up Own like a Jak and Daxter, I don't see them going back to that. I don't know. I. I am definitely coming off on this pretty negative, but that's just because I don't want to be wrong. Barry's brother and then Mac is actually another great example. Like they've been doing this and it hasn't worked. Yeah, until Astrobot see.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And the, the. I think the place where I'll push back is. I think they've. They've been doing this isn't, has and it hasn't worked until Astrobot. And I think Astrobot working is going to open that up for it to work more. Because I think, I don't think as a first party you can rest on the laurels of mature content. And we've talked about this before as far as why do they push Horizon so hard while Horizon is an IP that isn't as violent as a God of war or a last bless. And it's also a popular ip, at least. You want to talk about the first game, Horizon zero Dawn, that sold gangbusters. And Horizon Forbidden west did well as well. Right. Like that is an IP that is popular enough, but then also family friendly enough that we can find different things to do with it, whether it's a multiplayer thing or a Lego thing. Right. But go for it.
Greg Miller
From all accounts, the Lego game sold abysmally.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And to jump off of that, I think that's because Horizon was the wrong IP to put into a Lego game.
Tim Gettys
The kids love Horizon Everybody loves Horizon. Plus that's. We all love Horizon.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's the problem. Like at a certain point there is a ship of Theseus. That happens of the fans who love Horizon. Why do they love Horizon? Is that going to translate into them liking a Horizon LEGO game?
Greg Miller
Right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like for me, I love Horizon. I know Jada Garcia and Greg Miller love Horizon Zero. I think a lot of us actually love Horizon the world in the game. But like, do we care about a Horizon LEGO game? That's something that I think you are making to appeal to kids. But like, do kids like Horizon? I don't think so. I think the kids are liking Astrobot, right? Like, I think the more you're able to pursue IP that feels a bit more catered to family audiences, that then opens you up to do more with that ip. And so like, for example, I would never make a Horizon racing game like that does. Like a Horizon kart racer.
Greg Miller
Specifically, I should say Forza Horizon.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
God damn it. Let's get to it, Tim.
Tim Gettys
You can go home for the rest of the week. You've done your job.
Greg Miller
Thank you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I would never make a Horizon Cart Racer. I'll never make a Horizon 2D platformer. Maybe if you put it in Lego you can get away with those things, but I don't think that makes sense. What I do think makes sense is maybe you can make a PlayStation racer with Astrobot as like the characters, right? You can make an Astrot racer, you can make an Astrot or a Sackboy thing, right? Or an Astrobot 2D platformer. And like you can adapt those things into kids shows. Like I think having more family directed content and IP opens that opens that door up to like so many different things as far as like, yeah, movies, tv, like all that just for different audiences.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I absolutely agree with you every single thing you're saying. I just want to know what that translates to with what they're saying to their actual output. Like really what do you think we see next? Like what, what do we see that's in the realm of what they're talking about here?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's a really good question.
Greg Miller
It's hard for me to kind of.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, I like that question a lot. I mean, the unfortunate thing is my brain immediately goes to partnerships. And I say unfortunate because I think there is an identification of we. We expect the best of the best from PlayStation Studios. Right? First party PlayStation Studios. But to your point, the reality is that guess what? Naughty Dog is working on. Intergalactic Gorilla is working on probably the next Horizon thing, right? Sucker Punch is working on Ghost of Yote. Like those studios are taken up with projects already that are on the more mature leaning side. So, so if I'm PlayStation, I am looking at the studio that made Sackboy a big adventure. I'm looking at Sumo Digital and being like, yo, all right, what can you do with either Sackboy or another one of our family friendly ips that maybe we already have? Maybe I'm looking at a, a studio that we're not a third party studio that we're not thinking of that and make something new for us.
Tim Gettys
What's the team that made Crash 4 and then became a Call of Duty studio and then Less for Bob were they. They're the ones that survived. Right. And like kind of like bought themselves out get toys for bob, maybe have them do a Jack and Dexter reboot or some.
Greg Miller
You know, honestly, like, yeah, like something like that would be great. I just still my, my problem is looking at this, it's like, all right, cool. Are we talking about sales success or specifically here award success? And I don't think that giving Sumo Digital or even, even Toys for Bob Jack and Daxter is going to get them awards. You know what I mean?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I feel that. But I think you're talking.
Greg Miller
We'Re talking about Astrobot, which is like an impossible pinnacle peak to kind of like go against. It also didn't sell 10 million.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But can you, and this is going to sound very corporate of me, can you get Astrobot there? As far as you know, we have the, obviously the critical success you have, the 1.5 million sales in whatever period of time that was, what more can you extract from it? Right? If I'm putting on my CEO cap, like can I get an Astrobot cartoon going? Can I get Astrobot toys and stores? Can I get, I don't know, like, can I put Astrobot in theaters and make like a fun little like minion style movie out of it, right? Like what can I do to Astro for Astrobot to like get it to that place of cool? Now this IP is making the returns even if just the game isn't. How do I turn this into Sonic the Hedgehog? Yeah, basically is what I'm saying.
Greg Miller
I mean that's it, that's. That's the million dollar question, right? Like, I don't know. Yeah, we'll see. I'm hopeful. I love kid games. Love them, love them. Maybe my favorite genre, like it's not even a genre. The, like the Nintendo Fanboy. Exactly. Who would, who would thought so. It's like, yeah, I want more of this. I just. I don't. I don't believe.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. And I will say the tough thing for me with this analogy with Astrobot specifically is that I also don't necessarily see Astrobot as the IP of put this in theaters. Like, unless you do really go all the way and go, hey, hey, we're making a Minions movie. But it's Astrobot. Like, I think that's really the. The way.
Greg Miller
Give the people what they want.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Nobody wants that, right? I might watch it. I'll watch it.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I'll watch it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'll definitely watch it.
Greg Miller
I saw Gran Turismo.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You did see Gran Turismo. But I do think you can find other IPS to do that with or create IPS that are based more on, like, character stuff. Right. Like a Crash Bandicoot or a Ratchet and Clank. I guess you literally have Ratchet and Clank that you can do that with. Yeah, and they did.
Greg Miller
Yeah, they did.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, they did.
Greg Miller
I think it's worth funniest game of the year.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think it's worth chasing.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
All right. Do it for the kids.
Greg Miller
Do it for the kids. The big, beautiful kids.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.

I want to bring in some super chats. We're actually move on to story number three side of Fry says Astrobot Brawler. Call it SMASH Robot.
Greg Miller
I mean, I can't be mad at you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I like Smash a lot.
Greg Miller
I love it. Intend it. It's 2025.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And also this project, Gummy Bears. I'm gonna keep talking about Gummy Bears until we see that.
Greg Miller
Yes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because I can't wait.
Greg Miller
I like that. Gummy Bears is to you what SEGA Super Game is to me. Like, it just brings you endless joy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We're gonna make a smash. But it's be a MOBA, man. Let's see. Engaged family gaming rights. Then it says, I can confirm. Parents are always on the lookout for games that are a reasonable alternative to more violent alternatives. Yeah, I don't know. Engaged family gaming sounds biased to me too.
Greg Miller
You got a family agenda out there.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Pushing this family agenda. CJ Splits says it could be that they just want younger users. And then also they say there's a new portal ad out with Astrobot in it.
Greg Miller
I. Wolfhard.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
With Finn Wolfhard. Yeah. Which is.
Tim Gettys
The kids love him.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, they probably do, right? Stranger things.
Tim Gettys
Ghostbusters. All the kids love.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
He's not the one that was in Naked Brothers Band, right?
Greg Miller
No.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't know who I'm thinking of.
Greg Miller
You're thinking of something Wolf.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You're right. There's a different Wolf.
Greg Miller
And there's brothers. There's Wolf brothers.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There are Wolf brothers.
Greg Miller
And he was Light Yagami in. Yes, in the death.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes, he was, but I don't think.
Greg Miller
The Alchemy was his last name.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, like, the Wolfhard isn't part of the brothers, right?
Greg Miller
No, no, no.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay.
Greg Miller
Yeah, they. He. He. Wolves harder than the other.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, they're.
Tim Gettys
They are the Wolf. Nat Wolf and Alex Wolf.
Greg Miller
Yes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, those two are brothers, but, like.
Greg Miller
They'Re not related to Wolf. Hard. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I love the world we live in. That's a lot. I hate the world we live in, but, hey, sometimes it's entertaining. Story number three. Season two of Twisted Metal is coming season summer 2025.
Greg Miller
Yes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
PlayStation tweeted out this morning. Back on the road again. Season two of Twisted Metal is coming summer 2025 in the US on the. On the bear. If you want to bring up the trailer, I've already.
Greg Miller
I've not seen it yet. I would love to watch it. I would love to watch.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Barrett. Sorry I didn't prep for a live reaction, but. Oh, there we go. He's on it. The name's John Doe. Until a year ago, my life on the road was pretty routine. We fell in love. We picked up a Clown. She's in what, broken 99. Yeah.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
She's also.
Greg Miller
Joy ride is over.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The tournament is here. I'll need to end every last driver that gets in my way. No pressure or anything.
Greg Miller
Madison from she Hulk.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No way. Oh. I am Calypso and I invite you to compete.
Greg Miller
Axel. Dude.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I can't believe.
Tim Gettys
This is gonna be the best thing Anthony Mackie stars in this year.
Greg Miller
Barrett, please bring up a picture of Axel from Twisted Metal.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Does he, like. Is he like this?
Greg Miller
Yes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And his fist.
Greg Miller
Man with arms and giant wheels. They teased him at the end of season one and we're seeing him now. We're getting to the tournament. Plus.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, Tim, I'm so happy for you.
Greg Miller
Yeah, dude, I'm telling you, that show is so enjoyable. Like, it. I would never say it's great or whatever. It's so enjoyable. And I can't wait to see how they handle this, man. Like, it is going to be. But the. The finale, like last season, it's. It started off, like, pretty damn bad, I'm gonna be honest. But pretty quickly it was like, all right, cool. You get the world. You understand the kind of. The comedy that they're. They're going with, and, like, what you need to, like, invest in of just like this. This is where we're at very Cobra Kai, if I'm being honest. Like, you just gotta. You gotta understand this is the world they're in. They care about cars and combat a whole bunch. Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Y.
Greg Miller
And once we started getting more and more characters and seeing how they're all kind of linked, it was like, all right, there's some heart here. Like, a surprising amount of heart. And, like, every actor in it seems like they really want to be a part of it, which is always good. And I mean, if he was a writer on it and, like, crushed it, like, totally crushed it. Like, people that are like, oh, Borderlands 4 is going to be good. Yeah. Going to be as good as this, which I think is good in terms of comedy writing. Okay. But then get to the finale and it was like, oh, we actually get to see what Twisted Metal is, which is like a giant arena with a bunch of cars with different special abilities, like, fighting together. And it was hype. And they're using, like, the homing missiles and from the games and they're all color coded correctly. I was like, this is great. But then they teased at the end of it, like, the tournament, it's about to begin. So that's what we're getting here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's pretty sick. I'm a big fan of tournaments. Like tournaments and TV shows.
Greg Miller
That's the whole thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Right?
Greg Miller
So yeah, cool.
Tim Gettys
I'm Every good anime has a tournament.
Greg Miller
Arc and it's always the best part. Or at least the most hype part.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Dude. Yu Hakusho Dark Tournament changed my life. I watch it once every couple years.
Greg Miller
Good.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's. It's so good. It's so incredible. But I'm happy for you.
Greg Miller
And also Madison from Patty Gutenheim, I think her name is from she Hulk. Happy to see her again. Love her. She's funny as hell.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Calypso was in the first season.
Greg Miller
Just teased at the very end.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Gotcha.
Greg Miller
Yeah, it looks perfect though.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's awesome.
Greg Miller
Yeah. And like if that's what perfect looks like, that's where we're at with this.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay, I I can't lie watching this trailer. I'm like this. I can't believe this is a real thing.
Greg Miller
Me neither. I like, I can't.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I know these characters look like they're in cosplay, like loose cosplay in a.
Greg Miller
Way where I'm like, they play into that though.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Like they know. Even in the world, like they know how stupid it is. Like it's. I'm telling you, man, there's a vibe to it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Hell yeah. One day I might put it on. See what happens. For now, let's move on to story number four, Avowed review roundup for you. Right now, Avowed is sitting on Open Critic at an 80 and a Metacritic at at an 81. We're gonna pull from Travis Northup at IGN who says who gave it a 7 out of 10 and says Avowed is a perfectly competent RPG that showcases Obsidian's writing and world building chops, but has little else to distinguish itself among swords and sorcery adventures. Sean Prescott at PC Gamer gave it an 82 out of 100 and says bigger than it first appears, Avowed is an engrossing and gorgeous action RPG set in one of the most engaging fantasy worlds going, though it lacks complex systems of its beloved of its most beloved contemporaries. Alessandro Barbosa at Gamespot gave it a 6 out of 10 and says a Val's impactful and satisfying combat is undone by widely unbalanced upgrade system and an uninteresting story that wastes its potential. And then lastly, Robert Pero Gamer gave it a four out of five and says what a VAL lacks in gloss, it makes up for with charm, depth and a playful heart. It's one of this year's most pleasant surprises. A lot of up and down.
Greg Miller
It's interesting, right. I feel like this is. It's kind of not common to see this much division between the scores ranging kind of from that, like, six all the way up to the five area. Right. Like, like. All right, cool. So I. I think that that's pretty telling that this game might be for you. Like, if you are into this type of thing, there might be eight to nine there for you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. And I think that assessment of it is super accurate. I. I played about eight to nine hours of out during the. During the review period. Of course, we're doing our review after this episode of episode of khd. Greg has played through it, Paris has played through it. I forget if Andy played all the way through it. I think he might have Bear. Did you run that one?
Tim Gettys
What?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The avowed review.
Tim Gettys
I did.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Did Andy play all the way through Avowed?
Tim Gettys
No, but he put in, like, at least, like, he was a significant chunk into it. He was like, at least 30 hours.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, okay. There you go. So it's those three talking about it. And so if you want our full impressions, go to that video. But, like, off of my eight hours, my. I put the controller down with the idea of. I think this game is what you expect from an Obsidian rpg. The writing is deep. The world building, I think is. Is great. The RPG RPG systems are there. I think for a lot of people it might just be whether or not you're invested in the world or not. And for me, it was a thing of man. I love Obsidian. I'm going to wait for outer worlds to though, like, Outer Worlds 2 is way more my vibe. As far as I'm a space boy. I'm a sci fi boy. I like a lot of the, like, tone and goofiness of something like outer worlds. Avowed feels very traditional fantasy world and fantasy RPG in a way that, again, I respect. They throw a lot of jargon at you at the beginning. They throw a lot of, like. I don't even want to get into, like, a lot of, like, glossary terms which shout out to this game.
Greg Miller
This glossary.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There's a glossary, but it also does kind of like the active time lore thing. Not in such a, you know, expanded out way that Final Fantasy 16 does. But during dialogue, there's a button you can press to, like, pause dialogue after a certain point and read up on a bunch of terms that they really do just throw at you in the beginning hours of the game. Just because they're like, yo, this is the world that's established for us. Believe it's already. It's already based in. Is it Path of Exile chat? Let me know which one.
Tim Gettys
Pillars of Eternity.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Pillars of Eternity. Thank you, Poe. Poe. So close. It's. It's based in that world. So I think it's the idea of. Of, hey, this is already established and we're building a narrative in it. And they throw you in and they have a lot of fascinating stuff going on in that first, like, in my first 10 hours of playing. So I think if you're somebody that is looking forward to a vow, if you're somebody that watches the trailers and you're like, that's a world I want to invest in. I think you're going to have a good time. Combat's also very fun.
Greg Miller
Are you planning on going back to it or is that more time permitting?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't think I'm going to go back to it. Yeah. I think I really. In the. After the first eight or nine hours, I really do understand what it is, and it's just not for me. Yeah, right. Like, I think even though I say the combat's fun, it's also one of those ones where it's fun for. I think the kind of combat it is, which is like, melee. Like, you play. You played Skyrim? No. No. Okay.
Greg Miller
I did. I did play the first. I did the preview for this game, though.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, okay.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So, like, you know what the combat's like, right? It is like a lot of melee. It is. You got the shield. I do like some of the magic stuff they have, and, like, you're building on kind of those abilities. They have guns in this game too, which I like a lot. But yeah, there's something. I think there is something about those combat scenarios that doesn't necessarily hit as strongly for me, and I think I just don't prefer, like, first person melee. Yeah, first person melee isn't. Isn't really my jam. And I think the way they. The way they do it, there's kind of like a balance of I got my. My magic meter, I'm throwing this thing, I'm busting out my sword, I'm, you know, pairing with my shield. That all sounds fantastic. For some reason, as I'm going through the motions, for me, I'm like, all right, cool. I feel like I've been here, done that before in a way that doesn't feel like I need to see this thing all the way through. But I think a lot of people are going to really like this game. I think it's good. Yeah, let's Move on to story number five. Overwatch 2 is adding a CS Go style mode and bringing back loot boxes. This is Quentin Kenimer at The Verge. Overwatch 2 is getting quite the shakeup in 2025 as it faces growing competition from other online shooters. It starts with the Season 15 update that's coming on February 18th that will tease a new hero and introduce an in game perk system for existing ones. Plus the return of the 6v6 competitive queues Blizzard tested late last year. There's also the return of loot boxes. And then in April, a counter strike like mode, two new characters and a revamped rank queue that lets you ban heroes and vote on maps.
Greg Miller
A counter strike like mode in Overwatch, like this reeks of desperation to me. In a weird way. There's no way that works, right? That's not what anybody wants. That's playing Overwatch, right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I feel like you're doing a bit and I can't. No, no, no.
Greg Miller
Bit like being serious.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, you're being serious. I feel like Indy Cortez might like it. That's the only thing like, but I.
Greg Miller
I, that's the thing is like I, I don't know, like I feel like he likes Valorant, you know what I mean? Which is like a game made to be that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think there, I, I don't know if I'd use the word desperation, but I think there is a hint of we got to do something. Yeah, we got to do something. Like Overwatch 2 in its years of being out, I don't think has done enough to like really, I think pull in the audience in a major way. And like there's Overwatch, I think is had the convenient thing of being able to rest on its laurels of we're the only player in town of this kind of game. Marvel Rivals coming out, I think really has done a lot for. We should actually we got to do something right? Like we gotta like lock in and make sure we're retaining audience. And I'm not saying that this is a direct response to Marvel Rivals because I'm sure this update has been in the works for a minute, but I do think that maybe Marvel Rivals being announced last year and those betas hitting and all this stuff, right? Like, I think that lights a fire under you in a way where it is. All right, what, what is the genre moving towards? Like, what are people looking for in a first person shooter nowadays? Can we have our cake and eat it too by having a Valorant style mode? And then also you know being Overwatch at the same time, can we use the Overwatch systems that are already there and create a Valorant style thing that's going to be exciting in a different way that than Valorant or Counter Strike is. I think they're just experimenting right now.
Greg Miller
Those are questions I just want to.
Tim Gettys
Highlight Jessica Cogswell got to go to Blizzard with a few other people to check out a lot of these updates and at least from her thread I haven't seen anybody else. Like I think Haim went to this. Yeah and then a couple others like Alyssa Mercante and stuff. But at least from this thread from Jessica it seems very positive of what they've gotten to play and from like directly from this thread I think at one point she does say like we finally have a true Overwatch 2.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh so like. Well that's the thing is as I go through this article there's a lot they added here so they continue on saying sorry real quick.
Greg Miller
I just want to say like the to the the loot boxes and stuff coming back. Yeah that sounds like oh cool. Let's give the people what they want. Like let's give the let's like try to make this more authentically Overwatch to compete with Marvel rivals. I'm just more talking about the Counter Strike bit that that to me sounds like there's no way in hell this works.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean yeah, I'm with you of I don't I I need hands on it because I reading it on paper. I'm with you that I don't understand how this works because Overwatch is a completely different type of game than a Counter Strike or a Valorant is. But like I don't know. I could if if they find out a way to contextualize Overwatch's like that feel those mechanics into a. You know, I assume it is a thing actually no I think they they get into it here later like some of the rules of it. Reintroducing loot boxes may be a polarizing move as games that implement them have received backlash over the years for their pred pre nature. Blizzard removed them from Overwatch a few years ago in favor of an in game shop when it restructured its monetization model. After going free to play, the company will responsibly publicize drop rates and is guaranteeing that you'll receive an item of rare or rare rarity or better in each box plus a guaranteed epic after opening 5 and a legendary after opening 20. We're not sure whether you'll still be able to purchase cosmetics directly from a rotating in game shop, but you can earn Loot boxes as part of weekly and event rewards and you can get up to three guaranteed legendary Loot boxes in each seasonal battle Pass Stadium is arguably the biggest change announced in Overwatch 2 so far. The new gameplay mode is a best of seven romp between two teams of five that's akin to Counter Strike, Go or Valorant. You'll earn currency each round with rotating maps and objectives alternating between Control, Clash and Push. The cash goes towards upgrading upgrades for your hero that are unique to the mode, whether you're unlocking an ability or upgrading it with enhanced potency or transformative effects that buff your offense and team utility. You can even choose between first person or third person POVs. It's getting its own ranked queue too and launches with 14 heroes to start with. More plan to be added in future updates alongside a steady rollout of new maps. Season 16 will also introduce Freya, a high mobility character who can dash horizontally and jump vertically while wielding a dual mode crossbow that enables both rapid fire shooting and precision sniping. You'll be able to play her for a bit during a trial weekend in season 15. Blizzard is also teasing a new character for season 18 named Aqua, appropriately named for his water based abilities. As for the new Perk system, it promises to enhance all of the game's heroes with two unique upgrades per match. Your first upgrade is a minor one that lets you choose one of two slight boosts, perhaps a slightly stronger passive or a reduced cooldown for a core ability. The second upgrade offers a more substantial playstyle shift designed to help turn the tides of battle. Torbjorn can choose between a strong a stronger level three turret or the ability to mount it on a wall for example. So a lot there the just cogs the the just thing of saying that it finally feels like Overwatch 2. Reading through all this kind of feels apt. I'm shocked by how much they're adding with with all these updates and again.
Greg Miller
Bringing back old stuff to make it feel more Overwatch. Like classic Overwatch. And yeah it's so funny because like yeah looking at that like that's not counter strike at all. Like maybe it's like cool just like the money and all that stuff but like in terms of the vibes, in terms of what CS go kind of like makes you think about gameplay wise. It's like all right cool, that just looks like a different Overwatch mode, but I still don't have full faith that it's gonna like light The World on Fire or anything, but they're trying. They're trying things.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They're doing. They're doing things. They're. They're moving things around. I think that's necessary to do. I think for a game that's been out as long as Overwatch, like, that game launched in 2016, it is 2025. It's about. It's gonna be 10 years of Overwatch soon, which I feel like is gonna make me grow, like, gray hair just thinking about it. But, like, it's been around for a long time. I think Overwatch 2 didn't do enough to shake things up that game for me. When. When we got Overwatch 2, it felt like too much of the same. I know they brought the player count down to 5v5 instead of 6v6. I needed some more than that.
Greg Miller
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They added the new modes. They added, like, some new maps. But I think for me as a player, and I think for a lot of players, people are looking for something more substantial. And, you know, over time, they canceled some of the content that they had promised for Overwatch 2. Some of the single player stuff that we're looking forward to. So I think you need things like this to shake it up. I'm with you as far as. Is this new mode going to hit? Right. Like, that sounds like a big swing. It reminds me of when Apex added Apex Arenas as a mode. And I liked Arenas a lot, but, like, they added it in a, what, maybe a year or two later they took it out.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Which saddened me. But I think you need swings like that. You got to figure out if you can get something like this, like this to stick, because then if it does, you just opened up a whole new revenue model. Possibly.
Greg Miller
Is it possible for them to get your crew that used to play Overwatch that now plays Marvel Rivals back to.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, man. Let me tell you, I was in the group chat. Hold on. I'm not gonna read any of their texts because I don't have their permission, but I was in the group chat and, like, the vibe was. The vibe was mainly like, damn, like, why are you doing this now? Like, you should have done. You should have done this, like, a while ago. I. It seems like they're on the. They're on the idea of pro these changes, but, like, it does feel a little too late. I think it's gonna be hard to pull them off of Marvel Rivals right now.
Greg Miller
That's rough, man.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I think. I mean, I think there's gonna be a. A Monday where right after this comes out. We definitely got to try out the new mode. We definitely got to see what it's about. And, like, if it's good.
Greg Miller
Hey, all right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You're gonna. You'll have us. I think. I think it might come down in timing.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think you got to give people a little bit more time with Marvel Rivals, because it's still on fire right now. And as soon as that fire feels like it's starting to fade a little bit, boom, launch this, and maybe you might get some conversion back.
Greg Miller
I mean, it feels like Marvel Rivals has just made all the right moves and just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Bigger, gigantic.
Greg Miller
So big.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So big. Tim, what if I wanted something small, Say, the tiniest news I needed to know about? Where would I go?
Greg Miller
You go to our last story, the WE News Channel, where we cover all the small news items that you need to know about.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Story number six. It's we news. Crytek is laying off 15% of its workforce in pausing production on crisis. Super sad news.
Greg Miller
Jesus, though, like, that's not good. No, like, pausing production.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Greg Miller
That means more than 15 are gonna let go. Probably.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. From MLB. MLB meets Pokemon Go. Tim, all MLB ballparks will feature official club branded pokestops and gyms so trainers can play Pokemon Go from wherever they're sitting in the ballpark. Trainers will also be able to check out newly. Newly created official routes at the ballparks.
Tim Gettys
Could this possibly convince you, Tim, to have us as a company go to more baseball games?
Greg Miller
No. I wish. I wish there was something here that was, like, at all enticing to me. It's just like, okay, cool. So I can do the exact same thing I do everywhere, but I have to pay money to get into an arena to do it. Like, I don't know about that, but I will say that I personally feel happy about this because my Pokemon Go, like, route that I walk starts at the ballpark.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, nice.
Greg Miller
So I'll be able to get whatever benefits this gives me, and I'll get them. By the way, I am inching towards 50. Bless.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Greg Miller
I am so damn close. I have three of these little left to get.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Hell yeah.
Tim Gettys
Earn that bomber jacket, Tim.
Greg Miller
I'm getting it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
PlayStation 5 shipments have surpassed 75 billion units. Mecha Break open beta test is happening on February 23rd. Diablo 4's next expansion has been delayed to 2026. Glover is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, PS4, PS5 and Switch on February 27th. Finally, we did it.
Tim Gettys
Glover, the ultimate cousin game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It really Is lost in random. The Eternal Dice launches in summer 2025 on Xbox Series X and S PS5 Switch and on PC. And that is it for We News. Let's hop into some super chats before we get out of here. Gondor's Condor says yay mlb. Something to distract from. Something to distract from the never ending pain of being a Pirates fan. Love that. Sorry. As I was reading that, another super chat came in out of frame and I'll read that one. Lionel Richie. Whoa. Writes in and says there needs to be a discussion on how Grand Theft Auto 6 is harming games discourse. I'm so sick of people online assuming other franchises are trash.
Tim Gettys
Well, thank you for writing in. Lionel Richie.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. I didn't know he's a fan of the show. He's like, apparently Lionel Richie hates Grand Theft Auto. Yeah, I don't know. I don't think that's on gta. I think that's more so on video game fans being normal and yeah, tough ask sometimes.
Greg Miller
Definitely.
Tim Gettys
I think that's less on GTA 6 and more just on the Internet culture today and how it's warping an entire generation of people.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Oh, Sterling. Matthew Oliver writes in. Said they forgot to pay their birthday tax, so we appreciate that. Golden Spider says, as an Overwatch psycho, I am more optimistic than not about these changes. Rivals never hit for my crew.
Greg Miller
Here's the thing. At the end of the day, like with all video game stuff, if the fans of the game are getting things that they like, that's all that really matters. I'm sitting here talking about this from a business perspective and from an industry perspective of just like, is this going to hit and make Overwatch the hit it used to be? No, I don't think it will. That is irrelevant to people enjoying the game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. You know, yeah. The hit that it used to be, I think is a tough one because I don't even know if that could ever happen, no matter what.
Greg Miller
I think that they could have. But I think that in this new era, I don't know anymore.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think you would have to. I think it would have to actually make Overwatch 3 and tear it all down and like rebuild from the ground up. All new heroes, all new. Like all new universe, all new levels, all new. You don't even have to do new modes. I think just brand new heroes. Right. Like refresh it in the way that when you go From Street Fighter 4 to Street Fighter 5, it's a brand new game. That might have been a bad example because Street Fighter 5 wasn't good.
Greg Miller
Two to three.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Two to three, right? Like, you got to strip it all down and recreate it. It can't just be a big update. It has to be a new game. I think that said, yeah, like, I think Overwatch, no matter what, Overwatch has a built in audience. Overwatch has probably hundreds of thousands of people playing it at any given moment. So, like, I don't even think you need to do much to like, shake that up. I think it really is about, like, how do we. I don't know, how do. How do we just get more people in? Like, what are. What is the update we can give to, like, give longevity over the course of like, maybe a few years? It doesn't necessarily have to be a, hey, here's a new game mode and we're back to 10 or, you know, a million concurrents playing this at the same time. And you know, the new. The new Valorant mode is now the biggest thing ever. I don't think they need that. I think they just need to, like, yeah, get people back in and give them something to enjoy for the next year that they can obsess over hopefully. And maybe it grows into a new thing. Let's see. Golden Spider says calling the overage to stuff. Counter strike. Counter strike. Like, it's very misleading. It's only counter strike, like, in that you gain currency and can use it to buy perks that can give you new abilities for the next round.
Greg Miller
Yeah, that's what it looked like. Like, the moment I saw. It's like, all right, cool. Well, this just seems like another A mode as opposed to a counter strike.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Christopher Burnett says, we got the GTA trailer we never knew. We need. We needed or wanted in Mind's Eye. And I'm here for it. Summer can't get here soon enough. I saw some. I saw one person on Blue sky that was hyped for Mind's Eye and I was like, good for you.
Greg Miller
Good for you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Good for you.
Greg Miller
There's just something about it that just feels really inauthentic and like, I don't know why. Because it looks fine. It looks cool even. Like, why. Why are we looking at that game and not hyped for it? There's something about it though, that, like, I'm not.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's like, it's like Detroit Become Human meets Grand Theft Auto. But if you made it like a move, like a movie game, like a game that exists in a movie. You know what I mean? It doesn't feel like a real game, I guess.
Greg Miller
That's. Yeah, it does have movie game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's like, I'm not gonna play that. Yeah, that's not a real thing.
Greg Miller
What if it's good? I don't know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What if it's good? I mean, it could be. Yeah, but like, is it gonna be?
Greg Miller
I don't know. I don't think so.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Demon hacker says Calypso. I think he will be magic. Calypso magic. Or is this a reference?
Greg Miller
Yeah. Calypso grants your wishes in twisted metal.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Is he like.
Greg Miller
Wait, what?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How?
Greg Miller
Greg is not here. He's in Vegas.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What is happening? Did Barrett accidentally press another button?
Tim Gettys
No. Greg wanted me to scare you.
Greg Miller
Okay, okay.
Tim Gettys
He's in chat, hanging out right now.
Greg Miller
God damn.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because like, Christ.
Greg Miller
Real talk. I had to have a moment of like looking around and the plastic up there made a weird little like wrinkle for a second and I was like, is he up there?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I really was waiting for him to pop up on the screen. I was like, I know you're for a factor in Vegas. There's no way you're still.
Tim Gettys
He's been talking a lot in the chat and so we've been going back and forth until I brought up the song just to scary. I did bring up Discord just in case he was prepared. But yeah, we. We decided to get your ass, Tim.
Greg Miller
Great.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Christopher Burnett actually wrote in earlier. He had an earlier super chat where he wrote in, says, am I crazy for being in the minority who's very excited for Benzy's new game Mind's Eye, who played a big part in shaping GTA as we know it and has partnered with IO, makers of the Hitman games.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I mean it's. It's funny because like I. I didn't say this yesterday during the reaction, but like it reminded me the way that the game looks. Remind that old game agent that ended up not coming out. Oh, oh, yeah, like that. The agent. Can you bear real quick, can you just bring up the agent trailer if it's still around?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Was it a trailer? I thought it was just like a logo.
Greg Miller
No, we got like a. A little there. If I remember a gas station. And there was a gas station prominently featured in Mind's Eye.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wait, Bear, bring up. Bring. Now I. Now I need to see it. Cuz I don't remember this.
Tim Gettys
I don't see anything for. Because that was a Rockstar game, right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, yeah, it was like a rock star.
Greg Miller
It was out of PlayStation 3.
Tim Gettys
That was just a logo.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
See, that's what I thought. But I want to See this gas station?
Greg Miller
Am I wrong?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. I mean, Lemon Bendy says, yeah, I only remember a logo cracks and Chat.
Greg Miller
Says, I thought it was eight days APs. Right. I'm thinking of eight days I was about to say.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I was like, did we? I got really excited because I thought I just somehow missed the agent gameplay.
Tim Gettys
The thing with Mind's Eye reminds me a lot of what was the single player campaign Remedy was brought on to do for like Crossfire X Cross. That's the vibe. That's the same level of like. None of this feels right. Like, yes, you just listed off on a bunch of names and all this stuff, but there's just something that comes that's coming together that just feels off and weird.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want.
Greg Miller
I'm saying this to Assets.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
This is what I want. Greg Miller says, I know you're watching. I want a one on one interview with the guy who's like leading this effort. I want a one on one interview with a Mind's Eye guy. Get me in this room with him.
Greg Miller
Get me this man.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Get me this man. I want to talk to him and ask him questions.
Greg Miller
So I want you all to watch this real quick. This 8 days E3 2006 PS3 demo. OK, so it was a hotel, it wasn't a gas station. But this is exactly what I was thinking. And tell me this doesn't remind you of what we watched yesterday in Mind's Eye. This scene right here of them driving and it's about to cut to gameplay in a second or quote unquote gameplay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You could have told me that there's like a lower reservation.
Greg Miller
Go, go back. Go to the left. Go to the left a little bit. Yeah, hold on. Actually, just. Just stay. He's gonna like pop out of the car right here. Yeah, that's mine's.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
All right, you know, I see what you're saying. I do see it.
Greg Miller
We're finally getting mine's our eight days. Many years later.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Who's making this again?
Greg Miller
This was supposed to be sce London.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, this is a. This is a place. Yeah.
Tim Gettys
This is gonna be, I. I assume what turned into London studio.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Huh? Oh, so this would have been like a successor to the London studio. Oh, he like slid over the car.
Greg Miller
I gotta be real though.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. This looks like a London studio.
Greg Miller
20 years I've thought this was Agent in my mind. Every time we've talked about Agent, I've thought about this.
Tim Gettys
No, we've never seen Agent.
Greg Miller
That's crazy.
Tim Gettys
Besides that logo man.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So, yeah, I want to talk To Benzies. Is that their name? I want to talk to this person and like, I have so many questions about Everywhere. I got questions about Mind's Eye. I got questions on why is IO Interactive publishing your game on your platform. But I guess it'll be Everywhere. Yeah, no pun intended.
Greg Miller
But it's still confusing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's very confusing. I want to talk to them also.
Greg Miller
Chris, get to the bottom of this.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Christopher Burnett, do you work for the Everywhere people? Because read the super chat. He's. Am I crazy for being the minority who's very excited for Benzi's new game Mind's Eye, who played a big part of shaping GTA as we know it and has partnered with IO, makers of the Hitman games.
Greg Miller
I like this. I like that. This sounds good. This sounds like me talking about Final Fantasy 6. It's the guy from Marvel versus Capcom. And it's.
Tim Gettys
It's really just the end with the.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, IO makers of the hit.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, that is definitely like. That sentence is very PR speak.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think that might bring us to the. Oh, no. We got some more super chats in. Oh, but we're. We're running late in the show. I'm just gonna read one more. I'm gonna read one more. One more. Aaron Lyon writes in and says, catching up and to the point about Astro Astrobot selling. Well, I think family games are the games with long sales tales that are supposed to. I never know how to say this word. Boy, it's like B U O Y. Buoy. Yeah. That are supposed to buoy the company between blockbusters. You can't cheat Nintendo level growth.
Greg Miller
I mean, that's true. But like, I. I don't think Astro Bot has that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wow.
Greg Miller
I mean, I think.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think it does, though.
Greg Miller
I hope it does.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's like that is a. That is a PlayStation pack in game right there. Which is kind of crazy because they already do have Astrobot packed in with PlayStation. So it'd be kind of weird to pack it. Pack into Astrobots, but fuck it, do it like that is a game you should be selling with every PlayStation.
Greg Miller
They literally did that with the PlayStation 5. And Astrobot only sold what it did so far.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, give us some time. Yeah, give it some time.
Greg Miller
Let's give it time. Let's give it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
If I.
Greg Miller
How many more years?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
If I'm buying a PlayStation for. If I had a child, if I had a son. If I'm buying a PlayStation right now, I'm getting asked about with it.
Greg Miller
Of course.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's. That's the.
Greg Miller
I would hope this go buy Astro. Every single person buy Astrobot. Prove me wrong.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Spider man actually is that game. Never mind. I'm buying. I'm buying a Spider Man. But then I'm also buying a master.
Greg Miller
Good. You're a good dad slash uncle. I forgot the narrative here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think in this narrative, I'm a dad. I'm a father. Me and Roger had a conversation about this, about me being a father. We'll. I'll talk to you later about it.
Tim Gettys
You never know, you know, Tim. You just never know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know. You never know.
Tim Gettys
You never know.
Greg Miller
You never know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know. Who has a kid out there Bare like again, me and you, we go to ceremony.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We see a little child. Yeah. And he looks like Barrett. Yeah. He has a Persona 4 shirt on. Like, are we telling Barrett the truth that there's a mini him out there? Or are we letting him live live his free life?
Tim Gettys
I'm telling living ignorance.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Living ignorance.
Greg Miller
I'm telling him, why would you do.
Tim Gettys
That to me too?
Greg Miller
You need to know. You just need to know.
