It's your boy Snowbike Mike taking over the hosting duty because today I have the two dudes who have gone the distance, they've done the marathon, they've played Resident Evil 9. And I'm gonna call it blessing one sitting. Okay. It might be two. You didn't go.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
By definition. It was not Wednesday.
Mike
You know what? It was close enough to one sitting. I was really proud of y' all for what you did.
Andy Cortez
We battled through it, and so I'm
Mike
gonna sit around and hang out with Andy, and we're going to talk about their resident evil 9 review/marathon experience and how they're feeling. Blessing, it's Wednesday.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It is.
Mike
How are you feeling?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm feeling good. I was forced to take Monday and Tuesday off.
Mike
Yep.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Didn't like it. I really like coming into work. You know, I like being around the crew. But anyway, I'm doing my best mic impression.
Mike
We do really bad following up days off. So, like, we had to make sure that Monday and Tuesday were days off because. Yeah, what happens is you come into work, you're feeling good on a Monday, and then Tuesday, like, ooh, maybe I'm not feeling too good. That was a long marathon stream. And as I guess, what, your next day off, March 19, and you're like, oh, my God. Diet.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I'm feeling good. I took a lot of naps in the last couple of days. I thought I was going to. Here's the thing. I. I laid out my schedule where I was like, oh, man, I'll do so many chores. I'm going to clean out the closet. I'm going to clean the microwave. I'm going to do XYZ thing. I had a list of chores that I. Yeah. That I was going to do, and then I only did, like, half of them. I took. I took a whole lot of naps, so maybe I was tired from marathon stream.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
Andy Cortez, you're the king of naps. You like staying in the green. No sleep. Dead on you. How are you feeling?
Andy Cortez
I feel really good. Yeah, I feel great.
Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
I was refreshed. Afterwards, I got home after that marathon stream. I, before I left, merged those videos. Prep that YouTube bottom. Did everybody go watch that again?
Mike
You kicked ass.
Andy Cortez
Appreciate you.
Mike
Great job.
Andy Cortez
And then. And then I booted up the game as soon as I got home, played more Resident Evil 9.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, I wanted to. And then I realized that I forgot to, like, request the game. I was like, I want to play more Resident Evil. And I was like, I don't have Resident Evil night. We played off of Andy's copy.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And so now maybe I gotta look at that store.
Andy Cortez
Pretty neat. Seeing all them challenges, I'm like, oh, shoot. Oh, this is why people replay these games.
Mike
New game plus. Yeah, back in already with the wristband points. Upgrade those weapons.
Andy Cortez
Pretty neat.
Mike
There you go.
Andy Cortez
New weapons to unlock. From the start it's like, whoa, a freaking. I don't want to spoil anything. That's a knife that like, it's a really good knife. Okay. Like, don't get excited. I'm not talking like it's not like a Capcom branded knife. It's not like it's just like a.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They give you a kitchen knife.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, it's just like this thing's really durable. It's not going to break in a couple swings.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay.
Andy Cortez
Pretty cool.
Mike
We're going to talk about all that and more because today's kind of Funny games cast is talking about both of yours experience with the marathon stream with Resident Evil 9 and your review so far, your impressions, your thoughts. I know sometimes when we do the marathon streams it's a little bit different than just letting Blessing have his time to play and soak in a game. It's a little different than Andy on the late night reviewing a game for work. So we're going to talk about all that and more. Of course, if you want to be part of the show, don't forget you can super chat right now throughout today's gamescast over on YouTube.com kind of funny games with your thoughts, opinions About Resident Evil 9, some of your favorite spooky moments, sharing it with these guys throughout that weekend. And of course we couldn't do this without you. So thank you to our Patreon producers over on patreon.com kind of funny. So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney the Psalm Twin.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wow, thank you guys.
Mike
Let's jump into topic of the show
Andy Cortez
boys.
Mike
I'm going to let you pick it. Would you like to do a review first or do you want to talk about your experience and the fun that you had?
Andy Cortez
I mean, I'd rather.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I just want to talk about the game. I want to review the game.
Mike
Let's talk about the game.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, we can save the shenanigans for after the.
Mike
Well, yeah, I mean the shenanigans are. You didn't order food and I'm really disappointed in both of you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Why do I have to order food? Actually no, we went to McDonald's. We went to McDonald's on day two.
Mike
I ordered a lot of pizza.
Andy Cortez
Day one added Roger.
Mike
Anything? You know, Roger always says no, Mike, we can't leave I'm like, we can leave. Roger, like, put it on the phone. Let's go have some fun. Andy. And bless her in the car, driving.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Mike
Andy ordered a moment, laughing, having fun.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Andy ordered what looked like a Looney Tunes. Like, you know how, how when like a chef will serve something up and they'll take off the lid and it's just like smoking and fumes coming off of the food. He ordered 10 cookies.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And a McDonald tote.
Andy Cortez
So good.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And yeah, we revealed it. And when I tell you this thing didn't look real, it looked like a render. That's how perfect these cookies looked.
Andy Cortez
We showed Blessing's wallet as well.
Mike
Showed his wallet. Stanza wallet. We all know about how to get used. How do you have that in your back pocket right now? We're at work. Throw it in your desk.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You got to keep it on me.
Mike
You don't got to go awkward ass.
Andy Cortez
Your tailbone and your back are screaming right now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, it's fine. It's fine.
Andy Cortez
Makes me taller.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Makes me a little taller now. I didn't get to actually see this specific scene up close because the. The computer we run it off of was like a bit of ways away. Is this the table from re7?
Andy Cortez
It sure is.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
You guys sat at this a number
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
of times throughout the stream.
Mike
Yeah. You looked great. You went into night vision mode. We'll talk about all that. Let's talk about your review. Then let's talk about Resident Evil 9. Andy and bless. What is your thoughts, opinions and review of RE9? Bless and kick us off.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Resident Evil Requiem is, I think my favorite Resident Evil game. It's tough. It's up there, I would say favorite because I think it's the most consistent, it's the most exciting. I think it condenses the best of a lot of the different worlds of Resident Evil, whether it be the more slower puzzle solve y like actual survival horror experience that you get playing as Grace or whether it be the more campy. I almost want to say upbeat, but that's not the right word for it. But I guess more action focused, action heavy experience of playing as a character like Leon, who's been around in the series for decades at this point. Right. But in this game is a seasoned veteran. I think being able to balance those two things in one game led to an experience that is very well paced out when you shift between the two. I have a few problems with pacing, which honestly is kind of tough to talk about in the context of me and Andy passing the controller back and Forth. Because I think the only section where I was like, man, this feels like it's dragging was the longer, like, Leon section. And I don't want to get heavily into spoilers. Maybe we can do a spoiler section later in the episode. But there's like a part later in the game where I was like, man, I'm not as excited about what's going on here versus what was going on before when I was playing as Grace. But aside from that, like, if I'm sticking on the things that I really enjoy about the game, I think the. The scary elements, hella scary. There are big fucked up babies. There are. There's a big spider that I didn't like. Right. Like, I think the. The amount of stuff they brought as far as that was really good. I had a moment where I think I realized that Resident Evil for me is akin to Fast and Furious as far as it being a franchise that knows what it is, doesn't take itself super duper seriously when it's nailing its set pieces. It's so exciting. And also it has such a history of things to pull from that'll get you hyped when they bring back a certain character or where they bring back. I mean, I say certain characters. There are multiple characters that they might bring back that make me go, oh, shit, that person's here. In a way that makes it feel like when Fast and Furious does the same thing. And I think if I'm comparing this Fast and Furious right now with Resident Evil, I think we're in the fast five, fast six era of it. You know, I think we're in a territory where it is damn like y' all are really firing on all cylinders. You guys have the formula, you have the characters, you have the set pieces, you have the things that have me locked in, into what's happening on screen moment to moment. And so there's so much more I can say, but I'll. I'll leave it at. I really, really, really enjoyed this game. If I'm giving it a score, a number.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. On the scale, I'll give it a 9 out of 10.
Mike
Okay. Amazing out of bless right there. I like that we're going to talk more about what you like and you don't like Bless in just a moment. But, Andy, it's your turn, dude.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I'm. I'm with Bless. This game is a 9 out of 10 for me. This is a game that, you know, leading up to it, when Roger walks up to me and, you know, and he's like you excited for the stream? And it's like, yeah, I am. But also no, because I wasn't going to, I wasn't planning on playing this game as it was, you know, I'm not the scary gamer. I dread these video games. Whenever I'm into them. They have to be super actiony in order for me to kind of stomach it and not be too scared. As documented in the many parts of the game where you have to be kind of stealthy and sneak around it. I just had all the flashbacks of my childhood of just staying in the safe room and just being like, I don't want to go out there. Like, I just hate it. I, these games make me feel like garbage. Resident Evil 2 for as amazing as as it is, made me feel like the whole time that was just pure dread non stop. That was a game that I was so done to be or so happy to be done with. And Resident Evil Requiem I think is such a greatest hits of all of what Capcom does so well with this franchise. I think that I think I enjoyed it more because I was with Blessing in the similar way to when we talked about how the Mortal Kombat movie really popped off for us. Because me bless and Tim at Tim's place. I forget who else is there. Maybe it was just us three. But the, those really hype moments, you know, getting super stoked with your friends. There are so many moments like that in Resident Evil Requiem. I enjoy the action. The game looked freaking phenomenal. It's, it's so many moments. The game is such a technical powerhouse. It, Capcom and the RE engine just continuing to showcase why they are so good at what they do. And I, I really enjoyed a lot of the puzzle design. I think it was really well paced. I, I could point at some nitpicks and say I would have done this a little bit shorter. I would have, you know, maybe extended this sequence or whatever. But I don't know, man. I think they, they, this really feels like the lessons learned of a lot of the most recent Resident Evil games. And I really enjoyed my time with it. Yeah, this is, this is a 9 out of 10. Amazing for me. I'm so happy I played it. I, I, I come away from this thinking like, oh, this is gonna be probably really high in our top 10 now. Like just thinking about how I, I will be contributing to that as well. You know, I, I just had a freaking blast of this video game and it was awesome experiencing it with the chat and for, with people that maybe can't always afford to buy the new game or maybe just don't love playing scary games. A really cool experience, A shared experience with the community was awesome as well. So that gets you some added points. But I just think they, they crushed it on a. On a design level.
Mike
That's great. You bring up really quick the super chat. Kristoff says. Hey, you guys made my weekend with the stream. Thanks so much.
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah. Oh, nice. Thank you for watching.
Mike
I want to.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want to piggyback off of Andy's review. I want to shout out three things. Firstly, this is to what Andy was talking about with this game. Visually, I. This game visually looks insane and I, I think a big part of that is that we were playing off of PC and like the stream that we did was sponsored by Nvidia the first six hours and so we're working off of all those bells and whistles. But I, from what I've read online as well, sounds like on console, the game looks phenomenal too.
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
If you're playing on like PS5 Pro.
Andy Cortez
PS5 Pro for sure.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. And like just from our experience playing on that couch, I'm blown away by how high the fidelity is on this video game. I think that's something that Capcom should be very proud of themselves for with the RE engine and how they've been able to push it game after game. So that was our first and foremost, shout out. Secondly, I want to shout out Grace as a protagonist. I know there are plenty of people out there.
Andy Cortez
Give it up for Grace.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Come on. Give it up for Grace.
Mike
Wow.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Give it up for Grace. Okay.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
No, I love her Grace. So great.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What's up?
Mike
What made her so great? Talk to me.
Andy Cortez
She wasn't Ethan Winters.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
She was not Ethan Winters. And I was going to start off by saying there's a lot of Resident
Mike
Evil characters besides Ethan Winters.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I was going to start start off by saying I know there are Ethan Winters enjoyers out there. I don't want to continue to yuck your yum because I knew. I know we do it every time. Y' all get mad every time. We just didn't like Ethan Winters and I think with a good reason. But yeah, I. Grace for a character. You talk about how there's so many Resident Evil characters. I think there's always a balance between Badass who is Leon or Chris Redfield or. I forget if I even played Jill Valentine. Valentine.
Mike
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But then you have like the characters that are more in a place of fearfulness. Right. Whether it be an Ethan Winters in Resident Evil 7 or whether it be Grace in this game. And I think Grace in this game showed, I think, just a lot more personality. I liked how much she was stuttering and stammering in her words. I think that actually did for me increase the investment I had in her character. Just as far as, damn, this is somebody who's really going through it. Damn, this is somebody with a backstory that we care about from the get go because they're showing us, oh, this is what happened with her mom. This is her investment in the story. This is why you should care about this character. But then they also show us things throughout the story as far as like, oh, now she has this connection with this other character that she wants to take care of and all these things. And I think that growth in her character, especially when you see her character progression throughout the game and towards the end of the game, it's like, damn, this is somebody who I really want to root for. And also I just really like the depiction of her character moment to moment. For me, I was like, damn, damn. This is somebody who I, who I want to root for. This is somebody who I like more so than Ethan Winters. But shout out to Grace. And then the other thing I wanted to shout out is the length of the game. I know Resident Evil games are not known to be long, right. Especially the last few. But I think being able to finish this game in one stream, quote unquote, one sitting. It wasn't one sitting, but to look at our game clock and it to say, I think 13 hours, 11. Did it say 11 hours? Just doesn't seem right, which definitely is not right. But I think even regardless, if I
Andy Cortez
think Tim also had a similar thing where he said it said I finished it in this time, which is definitely not right either.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I, I.
Andy Cortez
And then I kind of brought up the point that, you know, Mike, it's when they talk about three hours of an NFL game, but 12 minutes of it is actually playing football. And I feel like maybe they're not counting when you're paused or maybe you're not not counting when you're not moving or when it's not detecting when we
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
reload too and then you die, I'm sure it reverts back to whatever time.
Andy Cortez
It's interesting for sure.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But even regardless, when I even think about if I was to play that game again, if I was to play it by myself or even for the first time by myself, I think I'll probably get through it in 10 hours, maybe 15 between the 10 to 15 hour range. I would probably lean toward the 10 hour, 10 hours. And I think for a AAA game that felt so concise and so paced out well and like I want to see more of that. I'm not saying that that makes my review number go higher or anything like that. I'm just saying I like the fact that that can be a thing in aaa and I think that makes me want to replay it more. Like the idea of getting home and being like, damn, that was a fun time with Andy. I would boot up the game and replay it right now. That is because of the length and I think that there should be something learned there. Especially when we're talking about this game selling 5 million copies. Right. It being such a concise game, I think that's important.
Mike
So some shout outs that you want
Andy Cortez
to give, I mean, yeah, shout out to the, I think the something about Leon's character this time around and I, I, it probably is the same actor from Resident Evil 4 Remake. It just, I don't know there I was way more impressed this time around and maybe, you know, a lot of it is a lot of one liners and I know that's something you could kind of make fun of and just say like God damn. But I doubt there were some like genuinely good real moments and some great line deliveries from the voice actor. I thought just, I thought the voice acting was top notch all around. I was really impressed by it. And what else do I want to show? I mean I, if we want to talk, you know, things to kind of nitpick, I was, I feel like the, the restrictions, you know, we talk about sometimes games and friction can be great. That can like, you can create magic with Dragon's Dogma too and like the way the fast travel worked and then forcing you to kind of, you know, play the game as is as it's designed. I feel like Grace's inventory stuff was a little too restrictive. Yeah, like I, I, I think there were, you know, maybe give us two extra slots or something like that.
Mike
Big enough. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
It wasn't the worst thing in the world, but it was like so close to being perfect. And then on the flip side of that, it's like Leon's inventory system didn't even matter. Like you, we never needed more than we had, you know, we always had. I was never worrying about slotting stuff. Every once in a while you'd hit that auto thing or whatever and it just more felt like you're going through the motions in a way. Like you're kind of like, hey, remember this? Remember Leon's old kind of inventory system. We still brought that back, and it's nice to see and it's cool to play with, but I. I'd never. There weren't any. Ever mo. Any moments where I was going, like, oh, man, I. I want to pick up this thing. But Leon, you know, like. So it sounds like I'm kind of complaining about Graces and not. And complaining about Leon's for the opposite reason. But I just felt like there was a bit of an imbalance there. And, yeah, I would say those are the main things. Barrett. I don't know if you have quick access to it, but can. If you have the gamescast game tip theme song.
Mike
Cause it's a gamescast game tip. If you need help, don't feel ashamed. It's a gamescast game tip. We're gonna help you out with the game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
God. That's a jam. That's a jam right there.
Andy Cortez
Welcome to gamescast game tip, everybody. Don't destroy your coins. Got a lot of.
Mike
See, the giant cabinet was like, I want your coins, boys.
Andy Cortez
We didn't see it in time.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We didn't get there until later.
Andy Cortez
We didn't see it in time.
Mike
Giant roulette table in the room.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We about to walk past.
Andy Cortez
Look, here's.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They had zombies in that room. Look, here's the thing.
Andy Cortez
Quiet room.
Mike
There was no zombies in that.
Andy Cortez
You know, if I. You know, if I were playing that section, I would have looked at every pixel, and it would have taken us seven hours in that. Blessing plays the gray sections like it's an action movie.
Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
He's running through everything somehow. Bless had a dodge rod. I didn't know how.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, he was so cartwheeling in between
Andy Cortez
zombies and so maybe we ran by that area to upgrade things, and then at one point found something, and we're like, what can we get rid of? And Bless is like, destroy the coins. We got, like, plenty in our. In our storage, so we did that, but, you know, we didn't.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We were collecting so many.
Mike
Yeah, there's a lot.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
At the start of game, it's like
Mike
there wasn't any extra coins, too. It's like it was just the perfect amount of coins somehow to unlock all four. And if you maybe used them or maybe you deleted them, like, in your. You won't have enough somehow.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
In the first two hours of the game, we found every single coin and didn't find the thing to spend the coins on, so it felt like, oh, they're just going to throw coins at you. We can just we need space in our inventory.
Mike
We're going to get showered in coins like Mario.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, exactly. So, like, just get rid of some coins. We don't need these things. Turns out we need.
Mike
I enjoyed watching you guys just so. It was pure panic. It was a marathon stream, so it was a lot going on. But, yeah, I was wondering if, like, do they notice that there's a giant cabinet that's a storefront here in front of them? As I watched you guys just run amok in that first area, I know
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
we're saving the marathon stream portions for. We'll talk about everything. Talk about it, man. I've never wanted to grab the controller out of somebody's hand so fast as when I'm watching Andy play Grace's segments where, like. Like, when I tell you, like, I'm so. One of the things I noticed early on was chat being like, damn blessings playing this game. Crazy. Because when I started Grace's segment legit, like, I went through. I went through certain parts of, I'll say the West Wing and, like, was just running through, right?
Andy Cortez
And my goal was missing the store.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Missing the store. But, like, my point, my. I've played these games before, so I know what I'm doing, right? I'm like, I'm just gonna unlock the map so that I can see, like, I want to see the full picture and then ma. Like, where I'm gonna go. And so, like, I'm doing all these things. I'm, like, downloading the. The paths. I'm doing all these things, right? And, like, I hand over the. The controller to Andy at some point to play. And when I tell you, like, watching, just tiptoe around these places again, retread the same areas, and then realizing that I'm like, oh, I have to be Google Maps.
Andy Cortez
You got to be my maps.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I got to be. I got to be the maps. Because there are so many things.
Andy Cortez
Or put a fucking radar up. Resident Evil.
Mike
There's a giant map button. It pauses the game. You can bring it up whenever you want.
Andy Cortez
I do too much.
Mike
That's why they don't.
Andy Cortez
That's why they're mad at me.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I don't. But I don't think you're doing it, too.
Andy Cortez
That's exactly. I just keep on losing where I'm at, Mike. You know, that's my favorite part about it. Take a right, Take a right, and then. Then a left.
Mike
You talk about level design, Andy, all the time. You. And Bless now, especially with Dark Souls. But, like, I. Over the past couple of years, now playing all these Resident Evil games, Capcom is masters at level design. They have dialed in the escape room horror maze, like to a T where it is always fun to get a little nibble of the cheese. Oh, there's a locked door. How am I gonna get that wristband? Oh, here it is. I gotta get this. Okay, now I gotta go back over there. Oh, they gave me a key. Where does this key go? All the way over there. I'm not going that way anytime soon.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes.
Mike
Ah, I'm going that way now. Like, so much fun.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I love that stuff because it is. They are. It almost feels like they're making an escape room for game designers where they. If you notice the thing, then you know that you can get this like you. You start to put the pieces together if you've been here before. And for me it felt so satisfying for like the gray sections that feel like this is true survival horror escape room ass shit. And I love that stuff. I want to talk about like the longer Leon section because I actually have more questions for you because I let you play most of that section.
Mike
Well, let's talk about the longer Leon section right after a word from our sponsors. We're going to go a little bit deeper into the game. We're going to avoid spoilers, but this is going to start to tread into the back half of the game, a little bit of the later part. So now is your warning of like, when you come back, be prepared. We're probably going to talk about near the end of the game, the back half of the game with some things, but we'll try our best not to spoil it for you. See you in a moment.

Mike
Welcome back, everyone. I'm very excited because we have. We still have so much to talk.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I want to acknowledge one thing from chat. Tell me because people keep mentioning how I was spamming the healing and I can't.
Andy Cortez
Heals are on point left.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I can't stress this enough. It was Andy's controller. There's something about that button that was like so easy to press. Like, I don't know what kind of
Mike
on the R1 button.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It was R1.
Mike
It was a very interesting spot for the healing of like when you are getting attacked, you have the injector piece now. So it's just a simple R1 press. I totally get it. Bless the button that's used maybe not for healing most of the time in video games.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There was one time where like I accidentally banged the mic stand with the controller and they healed. I'm like, I can't. I can't do anything.
Andy Cortez
But there was also like a you wanting to melee and going, oh, I'm healing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, that happened a million times.
Andy Cortez
That happened a lot. It happened a lot. I also did not know that Grace had a cover system See people in chat, talking. Did they ever use Grace's cover system? We saw somebody say that in chat. We walked up to a wall to try to activate this lean. Never saw it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It never worked for it.
Andy Cortez
And so yeah, thought maybe they were trolling us. I don't know. So we just.
Mike
She has a soft lean that you
Andy Cortez
shoot her anyway, you know, and kind
Mike
of look around corners. Kind of position yourself really useful with the baby and the. The tall lady running around. It's like just kind of an opportunity to be like, am I supposed to go this way or do I have to wrap all the way around right now? That's what you want to do?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean I don't feel like really we really needed it. Me.
Mike
You guys did great.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There were some gamers.
Mike
Come on. Gamers.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I watch. Aside from all the healing, like I feel like we, we.
Andy Cortez
I wasn't even on keyboard mask. Can you imagine? My game would have been over.
Mike
Like Andy brought up the inventory system and kind of feeling like I'm always full with grace. Right. And that is kind of the point to not be overwhelmed with grace but to have a lot of things. Cuz that's where you're doing most of the crafting. Right. In most Resident Evil games you'll have the crafting system. This time they went to the blood where you would suck up blood with the blood injector and then craft systems. What you guys think of that?
Andy Cortez
I didn't love it. I think I. It felt like an additive thing that they could have accomplished the crafting system without that part of it.
Mike
Did you notice no blue or red herb. Right? It was just gray.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, just green.
Mike
So like minimal. You had the gunpowder stuff like that, but it was like a scratch like in other Resident Evil games where you really piling it all together. It seemed very streamlined and minimal, which was nice to me.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I think my. I kept going back and forth on it. I think I've landed to where I like the system. I just want them to tweak a bit. Tweak it a bit. One of the main things I didn't like is that it's the same icon for where there's any item, you know, or any like thing that you can pick up off a body.
Andy Cortez
Hated that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And so like if you're in a fast paced moment, you kill a zombie and it's like, oh man. Okay. Hopefully they have some heels on step.
Mike
He's got a key or something.
Andy Cortez
The amount of times I told bless. What is that blood? Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, it's more Blood.
Andy Cortez
And then the one time I didn't check it was after killing a big enemy and then somebody saying, oh, you didn't pick up that thing from them. And I was like, I thought it was a stupid blood. After telling Blessing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Every time to check the thing and it just being a puddle of blood
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
or whatever, the blood icon should be red.
Andy Cortez
It should have been a different shape or different, you know, thing to sort of to denote that, hey, if you don't need blood, don't look at this. Ignore this icon or whatever.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
100.
Andy Cortez
That was one thing that did kind of bother me. But, yeah, as far as the. It's not that I didn't mind the crafting. Like, I like crafting stuff in games. I didn't. I don't think we utilized it nearly as much as we needed to. It was just the idea of, like, you know, the lore is goofy anyway, but it was just the idea of like, getting like, how does blood doing this?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I'm just gonna suck up the blood from the floor. Oh, they. Oh, they just have buckets of blood everywhere.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Which I believe.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I do believe that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But, like, it's. It was just kind of funny also
Mike
to see it was just a new, interesting system right there. It was fun, too. Maybe in, like, the. The early to middle part of the game. Like, right when you got out of the early part and you started to understand it, you would start to notice, like, buckets of blood are everywhere or, like, certain areas. I got to circle back there really quick. I got to top this off because I want to make sure I can get a new EpiPen for the heels. I want to make sure I can get. God forbid I need four more bullets to my pistol because I'm fighting for every gunshot I've ever had.
Andy Cortez
Game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, the Requiem. I mean, shout out to the Requiem gun.
Mike
The greatest.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I love that.
Mike
I noticed that you guys held off on using it a little bit more than I wanted to, but you. You were. You were taking some shots with it, which I like.
Andy Cortez
I'm.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm a. I. I can serve things.
Mike
I noticed that it's like you used
Andy Cortez
it twice against an enemy and missed both shots.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Which is why I conserve it, which is why I'm like, I'm gonna put this over here for when I actually need it.
Mike
I noticed myself early in the game was like, I have to conserve this shot. Like, this is so important. And then I was like, no, you. This is clearly here for you to use it. Use it. Right? So it was like, how can I take out two to three enemies at once? How can I back up one of the larger enemies? Give myself a little bit of play to get out of there. But it was fun. Watching you guys decide when and when not to shoot that gun is pretty great.
Andy Cortez
That was one thing I wish that I had realized while playing it was I looked at the. The challenges list, which is like, I just love that meta game sort of aspect of it. And one of the challenges was, like, get a collab, like, kill two or more enemies with one child. Oh, I didn't realize that the Requiem actually did that because I. For me, it was just try to hit the head, you know? And I do. I would like to go back and experiment with just, like, shooting in the knee. I hated. As much as I love an RE4, shoot the knee of the dude and then swipe at him with the knife to conserve the bullets. The idea, like swiping them while they're on the ground just was not super intuitive. It didn't ever feel good. It didn't feel like they ever wanted you to do that. I kind of wish they didn't let you because it was so unsatisfying. I wish it was. I wish you were just, like, not allowed to swipe it at enemies or whatever. And maybe it's just the Last of Us, where your. Your shiv is just your get out of jail free card, you know? Yeah. But the fact that it did let you swipe at enemies and you rarely ever did so with, you know, with any actors.
Mike
Yeah, Leon was like, oh, I'm swiping with this ax. Yeah, he's stronger. He gets the craz Crazy Fatality cutscene, which we got to talk about as well. Those were pretty bad.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
But like, yeah, it never felt good as Grace. It felt like, oh, there's a Leon thing right here. Did appreciate the purple syringe in the back of the neck that would blow him up.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Mike
That added to a nice stealth gameplay there. I liked that a lot.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I thought that would come in more as they started to reveal more about the infected and, like, how you deal with certain types of Infected. I thought it would be a thing of, like, okay, whenever we see these guys, we got to inject them with the thing. I feel like we didn't do that as much. And I don't know if that was just like our happenstance of maybe not having enough of those things versus when we think.
Mike
All those crab heads. I think I honestly would use those to blow up the heads.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
Because of the crab heads exploded and bled on other zombies. They would be bad. So your goal was like, to take out their head.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I just feel like we never had the injection and saw the crab heads at the same time.
Andy Cortez
I would get just. Well, I would. I would get frustrated. There was two moments where, oh, this is where they want us to creep up behind. Zombie turns around. It's like I'm. I'm crouched and I'm barely touching this left stick. And Zombie turns around and notices me. And that happened twice. And I was like, all right. Well, I don't know if this even works, honestly. Yeah, I did like the, you know, I. You would either shoot the zombie in the head, then you could go to push them, or there was the option to. If you don't want to push them, then you can inject them. I never got to the injection thing because the one time it popped up, I was just like, in a panic. And I just did. What I normally would do is just the sort of pushing mechanic. But once you push them, I would like, you know, essentially pushing them on the ground is just a nice way to shoot them in the head because the swiping just is so. 50. 50.
Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And it's mainly just a moment to kind of run away is it was what it kind of felt like. You're not really like, grace, step on them. You know, use your. Hit him with this. That jar on the ground. I get.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I wonder, like, we should have tried that in third person to see what it looked like.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because I wonder if that was the thing where they, like, figured out the mechanic in third person and had to just be like, oh, in first person
Andy Cortez
you're just not reaching without aim or something.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Because I'm sure in third person you're just like, yeah, we'd probably be able to see it better. Mike, you call them crab heads.
Mike
Yeah. So, I mean, that's a Half life reference is why I'm calling them.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay.
Mike
Because of the blister. They look like that, but the blister heads. Yeah. Let's talk about the monsters. Right. So a couple of fun things from the preview and into this that people have talked about is like, the zombies this time around, kind of doing their daily tasks like you saw with the maid cleaning up the windows. They're speaking a little bit, but not like crazy amounts, but they're speaking small sentences. They're doing their normal activities. You saw the crab head, which is the double infected right there. And what that can lead to. What did you guys think of some of the zombie movements, lifestyle and the, the enemies on screen.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I, I, I love the Infected. I like the different types this time around. It was actually so fun when we came back in for like day two of it. We were hanging out in the gallery where you can unlock the different models for different characters and enemies. And it was fun just to go through and be like, oh, yeah, this thing over here. I wish we saw this guy more. But, oh, yeah, like you had the, the, I guess I don't want to say all of them, but I like the variety of them. You know, I like going in and being like, you have the tiers of. All right, here's your basic tier. Infected. Here's a riff on that. Here's one that'll maybe like, if they grab you, it's going to be trouble for this reason. Here's another one. That is the big enemy of it. And when we get into the east wing and you see the big enemy, when I tell you, that is such a good Resident Evil moment. Copyright Resident Evil moment that was our biggest jump scare. That was definitely our biggest one. I guess my biggest one might have been the Spider, but that was like a prolonged, like, you know, 15 minute long. Oh, I hate it.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I hate it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But yeah, I really like the Infected this time around. I, One of the things I want to point out too, I feel like Resident Evils have a thing where the Infected are. When they first introduce the Infected in the game, they feel smarter than they get later on in the game. Because when we first start to see them as Leon, remember, like, when they had the chainsaw and like they would like slither on the ground with the chainsaw and it's like, whoa. And then we never see that again. Like, I, I feel like that happens in these games a little bit where I'm like, early on, it's like, damn, these guys. These guys go crazy. And then they just become regular, like very quickly on, but still like, not, not really a big complaint. Just a thing that I noticed.
Mike
Interesting. Yeah, I mean, there's a couple of them that shoot guns at you, right? And then, oh, yeah, the chainsaw. There's only like a couple of chainsaw parts, right? So you don't get to see the, the, I took it as like the zombie is incapable of lifting this up because it's bent down all over and so it's just kind of riding it, you know what? Yeah, yeah, the chainsaw. It's taking it for a ride. It's not taking the chainsaw.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, somebody just say, you do see that again. So I think we might just.
Mike
Yeah, and so. Yeah, that's an interesting one. I'm glad that you like the zombies. I think the zombies here were like the perfect Resident Evil zombies. I like that they kind of talk just a little bit. I like that they did. Oh, turn the light off. Turn the light on. Yeah, I like that they still almost were human esque but also clearly zombies. I thought that was good.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, you could hear that. You could, you could get the vibe of the human behind the zombie where they would, they would apologize to you as they're like trying to kill you. You know, like you could feel the human is still somewhere there trying to fight through. And like I, I think that's great personalization. I think, you know, when I, I think when we were watching that sort of review or when we were watching that reveal, I made the comparison to how the last of us part two added.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Eric, where are you, Eric?
Andy Cortez
Like, you know, adding just somebody's name makes it feel a little bit more personal and I think, I think that was awesome for this because they really, really went a lot harder on every one of these dudes. Like their whole job is their life.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, we're making fun of that. Of like damn. Like you're a zombie and all you're talking about is you're still talking about work. Yeah. You're talking about work like you ain't got a family. Like you don't have like dreams and passions.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, you're the cook, you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I really enjoyed that.
Mike
Let's get a little bit deeper here into the, you know, I don't want to call the spoilery side of things. So right now if you don't want to be spoiled like the fully spoiled, you can step away. We're going to try to keep it as spoiler free as possible. But we are going to talk a little bit about the later sections here. Kind of the middle section in particular that Bless wants to address. I do want to talk about and hear your guys thoughts on that. It has been clearly shown now but like, yeah, here's your warning starting now Outer Raccoon City. What did you think of it, Bless?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, this is one, one I want to talk about because I again I let, I played parts of this. Right. But I think I let Andy play probably the bulk of it and I. Part of that too for me was just that I was not as engaged during that part and it might have been me just being tired during the stream because that was later on in the night. But I'm curious for Andy, like, you know, playing as Leon for that extended period of time, right. We get the wristband that is like now you rack up kills to get points to buy more guns. I'm like, oh, this is a different game now.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And like, for me, I think I was way more invested in the Grace stuff because that felt a bit more, I guess, just overall interesting to me. That was the playstyle that I identify with more because of the horror and because of the methodical, all right, gotta dodge this, I gotta solve this puzzle, I gotta run away, I gotta do this thing. And I kind of like the Leon segments as kind of like intermissions between getting back to Grace. But then, yeah, you have that longer segment where it is, all right, out of Raccoon City, you are playing as Leon for an extended period of time. Like Andy. How did that hit for you?
Andy Cortez
God, the memes have been so great of just Grace gameplay. And it's just a video of a horror movie. A woman, like, running through hallways, terrified, and then Leon gameplay. It's just John Wick in the club. Yeah, I, I think, you know, when it comes to gameplay, a lot of those parts can be a little, they can be extended more than you might feel like they are. And I think a lot of that just comes down to me not navigating. Well, me trying to concentrate while trying to stream, while trying to entertain while also sleepy and all that extends the play time. I think that area was just longer because I'm, I'm already like, not great at navigating when I'm playing games and when I'm streaming them, multiply that times a million, you know, like, it just gets worse. Right. And that's why, you know, all those frustrations could be looked at. It's like, no, I, I, I think if you were to just play this off stream, it would have probably gone a lot smoother. But the exploration of those zones, I thought was pretty neat. I thought, you know, there were a lot of unlockables. Having this kind of open ish zone was pretty neat. The reveal, story wise, I wish we did more in the dilapidated mansion, but I understand why you wouldn't because it's kind of just gone at this point. Yeah, but the rpd. Yeah, or rpd, but the, the overall sort of city layout, having this kind of almost Metroidvania, you gotta find the thing to unlock the thing that gets you to the next part of the map was pretty neat. I enjoyed a lot of that spot. A lot of that comes down to it being Leon action gameplay with all the one liners that are just cheesy as hell to make you smile because it's, it's. He's just a badass. You know, I, I really enjoyed that section for me, but I think a lot of that was us just kind of being tired. Like, I, I noticed the energy waning because it was late at night and we'd be on camera already for about 12 hours or whatever. And then once I handed you the controller, you perked up because you're like, all right, now I gotta play.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, and I'm awake.
Andy Cortez
And then we started like, okay, that's, that's where, you know, maybe when you're just kind of watching somebody play, you just started to kind of like zone out a little bit and tired. But I really enjoyed those sections.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Mike
Yeah. I didn't love it. I thought it, I thought it lasted a little too long there. Blessed for me personally, I mean, the mortar encounter, it just, it felt like this was the filler. It felt a little different of like coming hot off of like, here is the horror section of this to. This is the video game. Video game section of it, Right. Kill as many gibronis as you can get. A bunch of points. I had so many points. I upgraded every single gun there was. Have bought everything possible. Right. So like, I didn't love it, right. But I, I found my enjoyment in it. But I was very excited to be like, let's get out of this part. Let's get back on track. And then they immediately pick you up by going on the motorcycle. And it was like the coolest moment ever. Yeah. That's the thing is they, they quickly turned me around.
Andy Cortez
For me, it was more of like, I, well, I'm upgrading these guns and I want to use these guns. So I'm glad you're giving me things to shoot at. I think the navigation and the sort of layout could have been, you know, a little bit easier to understand, but it wasn't the, the worst thing in the world. I just, I liked having a lot of more, a lot more targets to shoot at and then figuring out that I could use the mortar to kill the guys. Like, I, I could definitely. I see the complaints of it. Like, hey, maybe about 15 shorter, you know.
Mike
Yeah. Maybe one out of the three legs. Let's cut.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
You know what I mean? Like, oh, the three part section, it's like, okay, maybe maybe two, maybe two and a half. You know what I mean? Just felt kind of long.
Andy Cortez
Break it up with a Little grace.
Mike
But they did have some cool moments when you're on the side of the skyscraper with the glass windows and you're shooting panels.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That was cool.
Mike
That was kind of.
Andy Cortez
That's the part I was most jealous of not playing. Yeah. I really want. I want to replay that one.
Mike
Could have been a little longer. That's like when you watch the first Resident Evil movie and they have the cool laser sequence. That was like. That was like, oh, we. If we extended this with gameplay wise and I could, like, shoot more glass, that would be fun.
Andy Cortez
An awesome set piece. That was. That's the. That's the highlight of the whole city for me. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I feel like I. I almost would have preferred if they kept the action set pieces to, like, Leon.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But if we're gonna hang out in an area and do the. All right, now, grab the thing Metroidvania style. Like, let that be more of a. A grace thing, because that feels like more. That feels like. I don't know. There's something about. Maybe it's the environment. Maybe there's. There's something about being in Raccoon City for that time period that made me look around and be like, man, this looks brown. This reminds me of, like a PS3 era kind of environment of, like, everything is just dirt and brown. And like, maybe I. You know, I think part of that too is I really like the interior design that they have in these games, especially this one. The mansion is cool, where we go towards, like, the very end of the game. Super cool. But outside just wasn't speaking to me as much.
Mike
Of course. Yeah. Hit by a nuclear bomb, so there's dust and all that. The cobwebs. I did think that RPD looked great, though. Like, dilapidated police station still looked very good.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That was so good.
Mike
But, yeah, it was. It was very pretty. Gray in tone on all of that. That. That section is right. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But, like, again, I didn't. It's not one that I'd say I disliked or hated or anything. I think it's just that coming off of the gray stuff, I felt like that was so strong. And even Leon getting his wristband of accumulate the points. That's where I come back to the fast and furious thing of. Okay, now I just can't take this seriously. This is hilarious, but also makes it fun, right? This has now turned into an arcade experience in a way that I respect
Andy Cortez
for the re6 heads out there. I really enjoyed it.
Sponsor Announcer
There you go.
Mike
You enjoyed that. Good, good, good. What else, boys, do you want to talk about? I mean, I kind of want to guide you towards the ending in the decision, since we're in the spoiler area, but what else are we missing?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, the villain characters. Okay, so cool. Gideon, that's my guy. What's up with him?
Mike
Big Z.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What's up. What's up with Big V and Big Z?
Mike
Big V and Big Z man.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
I will say, Victor, Gideon was very good at the. Very good at the beginning and all the way throughout. But, like, he was intimidating, he was scary. He had some great moments.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I like that they brought him back around because I. I think when I look at past Resident Evil, especially Resident Evil Village, I thought when Gideon. Now there were in spoilers, right? I thought when Gideon was gone, I thought he was gone, you know, because we did that with Lady Dimitrisque. We did that with, like, a lot of the main stuff there. I thought it was going to be now Zemo is the thing and we're going to reveal him to be Wesker now. He's the ultimate villain of this game. The fact that they brought Victor back around and they're like, no, this is the final boss. Love that. But also got way more questions about Zeno.
Mike
I like that. It's just a choke out. You know what I mean? Just get a hold.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Oh, no. Yeah.
Mike
This guy's eight feet tall. So tall.
Andy Cortez
Was he so tall? Are you just at a normal, like, science lab when you're that tall? You just got to be in the. In the NBA at that point.
Mike
How about the final decisions? You guys went back and forth.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I like the final decision.
Mike
Did you like having a decision at the end of it all?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, at first, I wasn't into it. When they first presented the decision, I was like, no, just tell me the story. Just tell me the story. After we went back and watched both of them, it's very clear that they're like, no, there is a right decision. And that's. That one I'm fine with because it is. I like the subversion of, hey, you're gonna have to make a decision here, but the decision that you think is the right one actually isn't the right one if you're paying attention.
Mike
Yeah, right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, what's the. Spencer had regrets and what he was. What he was doing, you got to see that as grace. And so now when you're making the thing of, you know, do we keep Elpis? Wpis? Elpis, Right. Like, what was your interpretation of that story? I actually do like how they did that. In retrospect, now that we're looking back at it.
Andy Cortez
Still a bit thrown off by the timeline. Like I was still had questions by the end of it. Okay. It's like, you know, if they were all clones of Grace.
Mike
Oh, but I think we determined they weren't.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, but you flashback and you were Chloe pre Grace existing. I was like, so who the. So Grace was just never a clone. It kind of just read to me like they were just doing the, like the. Hey, you're not Rey. You're not a Jedi at all. You're not a Skywalker, you're not a whatever, you know, I mean, you're just a normal ass girl. I don't know. I was kind of just kind of used by the timeline.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The whole clone thing. Yeah. Feels unsatisfied in a way that I wonder if there's dlc. Because between that and between Zemo, like between that and Xeno not being revealed to be a Wesker clone explicitly. Like maybe that's just a.
Andy Cortez
That's a big if, you know?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, but like, maybe it's part 10.
Andy Cortez
I think 10 is going to be.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But he doesn't make it through though, right?
Andy Cortez
There's clones of him, you know, like, oh, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, we're fighting an army of Westers, you think?
Andy Cortez
I think we will just have like the big. You know, I. I think he will likely be the big bad, you know. Oh my God. All of Chris Redfield's dudes having the fur around their collar.
Mike
But then at the end, end when the wolf pack was there. That was so cool.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
Post credit scene.
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mike
Cuz like Chris shows up with his crew, but then there's an even e more evil crew that shows up and they're like, we're here in the hold, let's get it. And you're like, oh, what are they getting?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What are they getting?
Mike
Did I say Chloe?
Andy Cortez
I meant. You did.
Mike
Don't worry about it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wait, is that not her name?
Andy Cortez
It's who?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, Grace is the main character.
Mike
I believe that's. Grace is the flashback that you're thinking of. You could. You said it was Chloe's flashback. I believe. That's great.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I think we're saying Chloe because it was like 1990 and like the
Mike
little orphan girl at the beginning.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mike
I took that as. That's Grace. That's what I thought it was.
Andy Cortez
No, but it existed prior to her even living.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because then she was.
Andy Cortez
She's not old enough to be.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, because then Grace would be like 36 years old.
Andy Cortez
The orphan is Chloe. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Nailed it.
Mike
Who the hell is Chloe?
Andy Cortez
That's what. That. That's part of the confusion that I was having. Yeah, I didn't know who it was either, Mike, until we see.
Mike
Chloe's the little girl that you save.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, Chloe's a clone of the little girl. I'm pretty sure. Unless.
Mike
But now there's two.
Andy Cortez
The little girl's a clone of Chloe.
Mike
Okay.
Andy Cortez
Because in that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because that's Emily.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, Emily is a clone. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry. In that flashback, I didn't. We didn't know who it was either, Mike, until. Yeah, in that flashback, homeboy. What's his name? The guy who created the T virus. Spencer. Like you just see someone go, chloe, and your character turns around.
Mike
That's so crazy you say that because I took it as.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's Grace.
Mike
Grace. Because Grace as a child, we all thought that was found by Wesker and then given to the mother who then raised Grace.
Andy Cortez
Found by Spencer.
Mike
Yes.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, we all thought that. In that flashback we were like, oh yeah, look at this. We were just shown what Wesker just showed us. All these clones. Yeah, we are the main. You know, we're the main source of. Of all the clones or whatever. And the flashback starts and we're like, oh, we're playing as Grace's little girl or whatever. We're in the orphanage and then we're looking at the timelines and we're like, wait, and the chat's telling us, no, Chloe was born or Grace was born several years later.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, because Grace is like in her 20s. Yeah. As we're playing, the game takes place in 2026 and the calendars says 1990. I think that was just a way to. For us to be revealed that Grace isn't the original. Yeah, Chloe's the original. These are clones.
Andy Cortez
And then Grace is just a.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Grace is just a normal ass person.
Andy Cortez
A normal ass person.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Even though Grace looks a lot like these clones for some reason. But that doesn't matter because she's.
Andy Cortez
No white hair, though. No platinum blonde hair or. No, no, you're right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, no silver hair. No silver hair.
Andy Cortez
Grace has got the platinum blonde hair.
Mike
You guys have only confused me more, so I'll go watch a little. You've only confused me.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Grace is regular schmegular. That's all you need to know. Yeah, she's regular.
Mike
So you're telling me the mother had a normal child?
Andy Cortez
Grace never had any. No, no, no, no. Spencer found this.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Great.
Andy Cortez
Spencer gave her to. Gave Grace to. What's her.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Alyssa.
Mike
Alyssa where did Spencer find Grace?
Andy Cortez
That's a good question. In the garbage dump. Maybe he kidnapped her.
Mike
I don't know. Is. You gotta. You got out of the scary orphanage, you climbed up into the mother's nest. They found the little girl, gave her to Spencer. He then had the little girl. But then that wouldn't explain him holding it like this.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
When the baby was 4ft tall.
Andy Cortez
And the thought is that he gave Grace Elpis to be like, I don't want you to ever like get hurt in the future. So she gets bit by a couple zambos.
Mike
She never turns.
Andy Cortez
She already has the Elpus.
Mike
She's got the Elpus?
Andy Cortez
Yeah. And we thought she was the source of it all.
Mike
When did he give it to Grace? Because Grace wasn't in there.
Andy Cortez
When's a little baby.
Mike
So he did have Grace as a baby.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like he had her, but like, he didn't have her have her. But he had her.
Andy Cortez
He was in that cut scene.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
When he had the little baby.
Mike
We're all over the place.
Andy Cortez
You're all over the battlefield.
Mike
You only got me so much further down. You've lost me even more.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Remember the ending cutscene before you go and make decision where it is. Alyssa interviewing Spencer. She has Grace.
Mike
Exactly. And I thought that baby was the baby from the underground tunnel in the orphanage. Yes, that's where we're getting confused. Or I'm getting confused. Yeah. Yeah. But that orphanage sequence. How scary, wasn't it? Oh my God. It was pretty awesome, wasn't it?
Andy Cortez
It was pretty awesome. It was pretty freaky. Pretty freaky deaky for sure. I would say my favorite sequence of all of them. My favorite sequence of all the gray stuff. It's so hard to beat that intro. I think that is such a tone setter. The like with. With the child or whatever. The. The big monster lady. Oh, yes. The girl called it the girl. The girl.
Commercial Announcer
The girl.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The girl.
Andy Cortez
The that. I think that sequence is just like, which one? Kind of pitch perfect. Just sneaking around and encountering in but not the base. Encountering the girl for the first time is like, oh yeah. So damn good as a tone setter and figuring out what. What this world is and what the rules are. And then indeed that's noticing the zombies being like, turn off the lights. Because they are kind of programmed to know that, you know, hey, the girl doesn't like the lights around here. Like, man, that was the demo.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That was the demo they kept showing for like a full year. Right. Where me. Me and Tim played it during gamescom. I Played it again at Nintendo in New York. Like, they, they had such, like, confidence in just that section and obviously, like, they're right about it because we came, Me and Tim came back and we're like, yo, this could be this one of the greatest games ever, right?
Andy Cortez
Terr. Terrifying.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Just such an excellent section of the game. And I'm with you that I think, you know, that's definitely up there for my favorite sections. I mean, the stuff with the. The big babies, big baby headshot in
Andy Cortez
the baby with the. With the record was awesome. But fighting the baby as Leon in that. Those tight corridors, the little attic was awesome as hell. The way that. That playground and the way that those. The level evolved because the baby's destroying this. Let me break through this wall and it's going to create a new section for Leon to walk through, knock down this wall. There's a ladder that Leon can now access. All of that stuff was just so brilliantly designed that it is so. It's not noticeable to the naked eye of what's happening and why this shit's so genius, but it is. And they're fun as hell, dude.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Even the way the baby, like, will stuff itself in the door was the thing that caught my eye of like, damn, yeah. This thing is so excellently animated. And then. Yeah, like, when you actually kill it and to see it deflate in the blood or whatever it is squirting out of it.
Andy Cortez
Oh, my God. I still want. I still want Leon to have a little dodge roll. Not a dodge roll, but just a.
Mike
Yeah, he doesn't have that.
Andy Cortez
Give me a little side, you know, Like, I still. I still kind of get frustrated at just the. The way it looks visually in those final boss moments where Victor, you know, puts purple electricity on the ground and I, as Leon, had to kind of just turn slowly and jog away. And it's like, yeah, dude, I've seen you do the most crazy of all time. Like, you shouldn't be just jogging. Like, you're kind of just, you know, getting to your car because you need to get. You're late for work or whatever. It's just there's that. It's kind of like a. Something's. Something doesn't match up here. I need you to be a little bit more active and, you know, give them a little dodge, you know, to
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
shout out some more of my favorite parts.
Mike
Yeah, I know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
We mentioned the motorcycle chase was so fun. Definitely one of my favorite. Just like zombies dogs looked great. Zombie dogs. That's one of the ones where I Was mentioning as we're going through the character model thing, like, to see the zombie dogs, I'm like, man, I wish. I wish we saw more of you.
Mike
Unlimited ammo was nice too, because you're just spraying.
Andy Cortez
They could have had an awesome zombie dog moment in rpd. I wish they would have done that. I wish they. I wish they would have had a moment of like the call back to the zombie dogs and RPD crashing through the window. Like, yeah, look.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Look at him. Look at him.
Andy Cortez
Jesus, baby. I wish they weren't just. I wish those moments weren't just saved for that highway chase because, yeah, it does kind of bum me up. We didn't.
Mike
Well, the rpd, they. They had. They had the jabroni for that one. Mr. X, he had his mom. That was his.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And that was. That was definitely another one I wanted to shout out.
Mike
His entrance was big time.
Andy Cortez
That's an explosive. Like.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Holy. This is amazing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's what I mean when I say fast and furious. Yeah. Where I'm like, this is the equivalent of Han showing up again.
Mike
Everybody had their moment, right? Like, for me, I was like, man, we're really gonna go without any liquors in here. Like, and they brought back the liquors gonna show up. And then of course, they. They had them. They. Everyone showed up for this is right. It was like the Avengers, dude.
Andy Cortez
The visuals of. Of being in this ultra high tech ARC facility, opening a door and it's just wood finished, dude. Oh, God damn. Art direction.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Art direction. Environment design is so good and it feels effortless. Like you're.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
When you open up the door and you have like, the damn. This looks like a different building. And you walk through and then you get into the elevator and we're back to the, like, the sleek looking environment. Like, they're.
Mike
They.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They just know what they're doing here.
Mike
And Westworld up in this thing. Yeah, I was Westworld.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, dude, for sure.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And the engine is just. The game looks so good as you're doing all that. The lighting looks incredible.
Andy Cortez
Shout out to Jessica Hinkle with a 50 super chat says you guys did such a great job with the stream. Being able to focus is rough when you have these jabroni. Starting shenanigans about dreams and gym shorts. But you guys nailed the balance of it. It was so fun. Love the reactions, love the game. Thank you, Jessica, for your very, very generous super chat called producing. Yeah.
Mike
Mike and Roger had a job that was to make sure they went the distance. Jazz. So we had to slow them down. We Had a job.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. The final day, it was kind of perfect the way it all netted out. By the end of it, because we wanted to. We knew how long we had on the stream. I was like, I think we're gonna beat this. Pretty soon everybody in chat is telling us you, you're gonna have like that and more. So, you know, going to McDonald's, getting some. It was perfect cookies.
Mike
Roger was on the. Roger was on the slack the whole time telling them, speed up, slow down, try to get some time in here. And the guys nailed it. That's what I.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Is there such thing as a blind Resident Evil Speedrun? Because Whenever Resident Evil 10 comes out, like, put me up against somebody because. Try to run it. Yeah, just run it. Like you've not played this game before. Like, how fast can you beat this Resident Evil game? Yeah, because I feel like. I feel like I got it in me.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because let me tell you, I was seeing the Matrix's grace, man. I was seeing the Matrix.
Mike
You were. You were seeing something blitz. I was watching. He's making the first perfect situation blitz that we could call back to you and the chef inside the kitchen. Oh, yeah, you clearly are supposed to. You slowly push that giant pile of meat forward 40ft. You immediately push it. Once he sees you go, ah, I don't know what's going on now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's it. It's called entertaining the audience. It's called entertainment.
Mike
That's exactly.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I came back, I pushed the car, I zoomed.
Mike
That's one of those. I'm like John Madden, you want the telest. I'm like, here's the moment. You're supposed to eat this blessing now. And the message you came back. It's like, oh, man. I thought I was. Had the push down and everyone was like, he pushed out of the way for you. Out of the way now it's like, yeah, that's great.
Andy Cortez
Kobe aren't with a 20 super chat says, started my third playthrough of the game. The longer Leon section felt long on first run. But after my speedrun, I realized that it's well paced. It feels long because of how open it is compared to how enclosed the clinic is. Thank you for your 20 super chat.
Mike
Will you go back and have a second run? Now that we're talking about speed runs, you talk about second runs. Will you two go back?
Andy Cortez
No, I. No, I. I want to go back to the levels and just play them on keyboard mouse. Because I love a third person shooter and I just love aiming and you know Hidden shots. And I want to see what it's like to actually hit somebody in the knee, because that's something we just didn't even try to do once.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm such a headshotter.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
Shooting their legs off was awesome, man. Especially with the crab people. It's like, if you shot their legs off, they'd fall over. You get on top of them. They did a really good job with that. Or some of the brutality in this game.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
Holy cow. Shooting thing in the hat in the head and their mouth ripping off was like, wow, this is crazy stuff.
Andy Cortez
Super gross.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I don't know if I'll go back if it was like, if we played on my save. I don't know if they have a level select, but if they did, I mess around with that stuff.
Andy Cortez
They don't. No, no.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Damn.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. That is kind of a bummer that. That was one thing I was kind of bummed out to see.
Mike
What did you think about New Game plus, though? You don't start with all of your guns, but you're able to buy all the guns and new guns off the bat. What do you think about that?
Andy Cortez
Really cool. I mean, it's so enticing to. To want to go back, because it initially my thought was I want to just download the mods to just get everything for free. And then seeing that the ch. How the challenges are laid out and how you're getting the currency for looking at all the 3D models. So doing that and then getting currency to then go, oh, I can buy this thing. And so the grace thing that I unlocked was a. An unbreakable shiv that she has the whole time. Oh, that's cool. And that's a neat little thing to have. And maybe I could worry about crafting ammo and. And other. And the grenades or whatever the hell, instead of, like, wanting to craft shivs and things like that.
Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
I don't know. I think it's. It's brilliant. And it obviously makes a lot of sense that people always replay these games. People love going back for challenges.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And it's. It's kind of just. Well, it's perfectly designed for that. For the Speedrunner in mind, again, it makes you.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It makes me wonder why we don't see more direct Resident Evil clones. I know obviously they exist, whether it be something like Kronos or Dead Space or even, like, last was.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I feel like, like, Resident Evil has it on, like, such a. Hey, again, shorter experience, 10 to 15 hours. Our players love replaying These games and obviously, whether it be critical reception, whether it be sales reception.
Mike
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like we're killing it on all fronts and our, like a lot of it comes down to, hey, we got the stuff. As far as making a solid big horror escape room. I'd love to see more AAA developers like try that. I think they have a formula here that obviously like is carried by Resident Evil as well. Just being an IP and characters that people love and all this stuff. But man, like this is such a, as I'm playing this game, I'm like, man, this is such a game. This is such a refined, well designed, like they got a formula here that just works. It makes me, it makes me have that feeling of I can't wait for the next one. But also I wonder like, what do you guys want out of Resident Evil?
Commercial Announcer
10?
Mike
Great question. Bless. Yeah. What do you want? What do you want next?
Andy Cortez
I want more of ten or more of nine. I, I, I want these really slowies or slowy. These really slow scary moments with the cheese and the silly action. Like I think that balance is so awesome to me. I know some people either they want to separate church and state. I totally understand that because I'm not a core RE fan. I, you know, I, my first one that I ever played was re6, I believe. Like the first complete one. You know, know, I'm not talking about the times that I rented re2 and like never beat it as a kid or whatever. But yeah, I, I don't know. I, I love this balance. I love the, the, the entertainment factor is so high with this sort of format, you know, like you want to
Mike
play maybe three, two or four. Where are you at on the timeline on how many games you've played here?
Andy Cortez
I want to, it makes me want to go back and beat four.
Mike
Okay.
Andy Cortez
Because I gave up on four. I thought I was way further into it than I was, but I think I stopped around halfway through just because I kind of fell out of love with what was going on. And I know it's like, you know, one of the highest rated games of all time, but this definitely made me want to go back and beat four because of just how much fun I had in those Leon sections. Just super fun. Super three.
Mike
Maybe one night three.
Andy Cortez
Three being super short and having a
Mike
dodge is like, it's more on the action side.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
Valentine, she's.
Andy Cortez
It's all about you're doggy from enemies.
Mike
Yeah. Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm excited to see what they do with it because I obviously they set things up toward the end Here I would imagine that Chris Redfield is the playable action Y character. Which makes me wonder, do we not play as Leon in the next one? Because I still want them to have that balance to Andy's point. I want it to be. I want, I still want to have that grace, like slow, methodical. I want to feel terror, you know what I mean? And like obviously there's, we. There are two different resident evils out there that they've been able to pull into one. You have the action game, then you have the scary survival horror game.
Andy Cortez
Are they gonna make you feel meek enough? Do they? Yeah, we're gonna.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How do they do that? Do they?
Andy Cortez
We're gonna make you scared. Here's a four foot woman you're gonna play. Or here's Ethan Winters. Like that's how they make you feel. Scared and defenseless in a lot of these moments. I think they would have to. If you are gonna play as, you know, as Leon Kennedy, you'd have to be like old man Leon Kennedy.
Mike
Yeah, old.
Andy Cortez
Fragile. Thirty years from now.
Mike
Fragile.
Andy Cortez
Just old as hell. Like, like. Or maybe he's just, I don't know, some, you know, maybe there were side effects from the, you know, the, the elpis or whatever.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, yeah. I'm so curious to see how they, if they even try to strike that balance or if they're just like, screw it, we're going full action here. But like, I feel like that's what went wrong the last time they did that.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because isn't that where we got Re5 and Re6 that people didn't love?
Mike
Yeah, like you went back to horror with seven.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
And then eight. Eight was a blend. Eight had a blend. It was a little more, I would call it more on the action side, but it was a blend.
Andy Cortez
I don't think the world was ready for five or six. You know, I think that's what it was. No, what it comes down to is like, you know, there's the main things that are different between the gameplay of six and the Leon action. Gameplay parts are we have come so far when it comes to mechanics and things feeling good in video games and the action of shooting an enemy like RE4 kind of nailed that action part of it. It. And then they said, what if we add co op? What if we make it? You know, I think that you could still do a very heavy action video game like we saw with re4 remake. I think they, if they want to do that, they would have to go like another full ass re4 remake style video game. If it's going to be 10 if it's only going to be Leon.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Or if you're swapping perspective with Chris Redfield or whatever the hell. Or get a. Get what's your face.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What is Ethan Winter's daughter's name?
Andy Cortez
Scary looking though.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Ethan Winter's daughter?
Andy Cortez
I think so, yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, is she? I thought she was just maybe I'm
Andy Cortez
thinking of his wife. His wife is scary looking.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's probably true.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But I feel like his daughter we. They were teasing something in the post credits of Village. I forget what. It's been long enough now. But isn't there like DLC for that as well?
Mike
Oh, roses.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because it could be Rose and Chris Redfield being playable for Resident Evil 10. What about Claire? I'm scared back. Claire Redfield. Which one? Which one was she? It's been. I've not played Re 1 from 2. Oh, Claire.
Andy Cortez
Claire and Leon are the stars of 2.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes, yes, yes.
Andy Cortez
Ah, yes, yes, yes. Of course.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What if I told you I never played the second playthrough of two people
Andy Cortez
wanted me to and I was like no, you. You're getting one playthrough and I'm scared. I'm not going back to.

Resident Evil 9: Requiem is described as a “greatest hits” entry for Capcom, excelling at both horror and bombastic action, technically stunning, concise, and supremely replayable. Grace stands out as a fantastic new protagonist, the dual-character structure is well-executed, and the set pieces and lore continue to deliver. If you want to know why this is Blessing’s new favorite Resident Evil, or why Andy now wants to go back and finish the old games, this episode is an essential listen.
