Table tennis nevertheless emerged as an enjoyable sports title, respected for its smart AI and. And simplistic but addicting gameplay. It's also the first Rockstar game to be developed on the Rockstar Advanced Game Engine Rage, which would go on to be used in GTA 4 and subsequent titles.

I go, yeah, but in gta, I can also just drive and have just as much, if not more fun. Like, I don't need to just have a solo racing game. And maybe that's sort of the thought process here where it's like, yeah, but driving is also incredibly fun and great in GTA games.

Yeah, we had emulation over here and I'll just start playing random ass nes games or NC 64 games or whatever. And I, I think GTA might have been one of them. But like at that point, like it's it. If I played it, it would have been like a negligible amount, right? It would have been like, I probably played like 10 minutes and went, I'm good. I don't need to play any more of this. But 19 makes. I, I makes sense. It's one of those things where, I don't know, I look at Midnight Club too, or I, I look at some of these other games.

Table tennis being below. This is insane. I will say I, I did play these first two because my way, way back in the day, my Buddy had a PS1 and we had these like. And I'm talking like, this is a post GTA 3 San Andreas World, all that stuff. Right? But we were just kind of fascinated to go back and they did kind of find like that formula in terms of like getting missions, driving around, getting into shootouts and stuff like that. It was just literally just top down. I don't remember anything of like the story. I remember the gameplay being kind of like weird, but it was something that they found that, you know, would be the, the basis for what we know them for today.

I hated the movement in this game. And also it made me realize how much I just don't like top down. Like, we think of top down now with like the isometric sort of angle where we think about old Zelda games order. But this, this just legitimately being top down, where it's just a person's torso with the hands that kind of pop out, like even that. Like, as much as I love Hotline Miami, like, it being top down is the reason why I don't love as much as I should. And I just didn't really vibe with this aesthetic.

I mean, it was weird if it was, you know, I think you were just controlling your character based on the direction. Like so up would be like, if you need to turn right, you would hit up. If you're like driving left and you need to turn right, you would hit up. You know what I mean?

But I know Revolver is not fondly looked at by a lot of people. Just kind of in one of those ages where I wasn't gaming as much as I. As I could afford.

You know, this might have been a. An Addison joint. This might have been one that I went to Addison's house and he was like, yo, let me show you this game, Red Dead Revolver. I watched him play it once and I was like, okay, I'm good. But then later on he had Red Dead Redemption. And that was the one where I was like, oh, this is actually pretty cool.

Liberty City Stories was a technical revelation when it came out. Proving that you could take something as huge as GTA 3's open world experience, impact it down so it could work on a portable device.

Well, it did get ported to the consoles later and I. Did PS2 ever come to PC? Because this looks like it. This screenshot looks like a PC.

Chinatown War's approach to the series people to the series staple wanted level. Requiring the player to destroy a certain number of police vehicles to lower the level was also novel and frankly, a little. A little missed. I'm laughing because, like, I know how much Greg loves this game. So when I get to the part about the detailed drug dealing system, it doesn't make sense in my head, but it's hilarious. All right, at number 11, we got the Warriors.

I'm gonna say it's the shit. I think this is an overall good list, even though parts of it I would just do differently. But, like, when I go through this, I can't get mad at it. I think Rockstar, it's almost. It's the same way that I think we talk about the MCU a lot of the times where it's like your games are in tears. You have the Tier one Rockstar games, which are those top three that we have listed there, right? Oh, I would also put San Andreas in that, but whatever. You got the tier two, you got the tier three, and we kind of all know where those games land in that ecosystem. And I think this list gets a lot of that right. I think when I. When I go beyond the number, I think 12 on the list, I feel like they might have hit randomizer and went, fuck it, we didn't even play these games. Rank these however you want. Nobody cares where Midnight Club Los Angeles or red dead revolver versus GTA 1 is like, I feel like there was no rhyme or reason there.
