What's up everybody? And welcome back to the Kind of Funny Games cast for Thursday, May 14, 2026. Of course, I'm your host, Tim Gettys. I'm joined today by Blessing. Adio. Yeah, Junior.
B
Good day, Tim.
A
Andy Cortez.
C
Good day, Tim.
A
Oh, and I love to see him. It's Snow Bike Mike.
D
You're on the set, Tim. So you know, I'm here.
A
The green is glowing. I can't believe you're here at the desk because all week I've just been seeing you taken to the streets. Every time I look at this guy, he's driving somewhere in Japan. Have you guys seen this? With his tiny little screen?
B
I'm so jealous because I don't have an Xbox at my desk and it's been a tough thing for me to find time during the day to get in some Forza. And then Mike's at his desk with his Xbox One s with a screen like a laptop screen.
D
Shout out to the X screen, man.
B
Been that's what I need.
D
I've been making time, Tim. You know, I was excited about this one. We've been talking about it for a long, long time. The much anticipated follow up to Forza Horizon 5, which has been amazing. The whole Forza Horizon series has been amazing. But like five was like, hey, we're doing something really, really big here. And yeah, to see where we are today, I'm ready for this review.
A
I have never seen you that locked in. I came up to talk to you yesterday and you were just, race it, man. I'm like, good for you.
D
They capture the competition in a fun way. You know, I teased you and Andy a couple days ago about chasing you on the leaderboards with the streets, right? They do such a good job with fortune. We'll talk about it in the review of, like, friendly competition amongst your friends where it's like, hey, at this speed trap, TIM Gettys went 162 miles an hour. And you're like, all right. But like, I can go a little bit faster than that, right? Or hey, Blessing has drove on 200 roads. It's like, well, I can drive on 250. And then Andy's busted out 500 bonus boards. Like I get 501. And so there was this fun like it always keeps you chasing the carrots and that's what they do so well
B
with this I'm realizing I gotta add Tim on Xbox. I don't think we're friends. Yeah, I didn't see.
A
I haven't seen you.
B
I've been seeing Andy.
A
I definitely see Andy and Mike.
B
Yeah, and I see Godfrey all the time. Shout out Godfrey.
C
Yeah, shout out Danny Pena and Khalif out there as well.
D
I got Stein out there. I was chasing a lot of Stein from Team Xbox so he was the one to chase for me.
A
Well, I can't wait to talk all about Forza Horizon 6. Is it as good as everybody hoped? We are about to find out. Of course, if you're watching live, be part of the show by super chatting on YouTube.com kind of funny games. What car are you planning to drive? Are you sad that you can't drive the Prius? C? I am. I definitely am. Remember, we couldn't do this without our producers on patreon.com kind of funny. So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney this psalm twining for now, let's begin with the topic of the show. It's Forza Horizon 6. Discover the breathtaking landscapes of Japan in over 550 real world cars and become a racing legend in Forza Horizon's biggest open world driving adventure yet. The developer, Playground Games, the publisher Xbox Game Studios. It is 69.99 but of course it is available day one on Xbox Game Pass. The release date is May 18, 2026. Before we get into our scores, I just kind of want to get a general vibe of how much time we've been able to spend with this game. I have a feeling I have spent the least time overall. I want to say I'm maybe four hours in to Forza Horizon 6. Bless. What about you?
B
Probably somewhere around six or seven.
A
Andy?
C
I'm around the same. Yeah. I haven't played as much as I like because I've been busy with Mina the Hollower. Yeah.
A
What about you?
D
My xbox clock says one day and then like two to three hours. So I say I'm nearing the 30 hour mark is where I'm at right now.
A
So Mike, 30 hours into Forza Horizon 6.
B
Yeah.
A
What would you give it on the kind of funny scale, Tim?
D
I'd give it a 10 out of 10. This is Hands down a better racing game. Than the one before. Somehow the team has crafted another incredible region with Japan and and I'm truly impressed. Forza Horizon 5, the whole Forza Horizon series has become a racing game all star. They have nailed the arcadey open world racing simulation that we've always wanted. And going from different regions around the world, they've crafted these open worlds to make them really fun to explore. And Forz Horizon 6 is a 10 out of 10 racing video game. I am truly impressed that they made an even better game than the one that they dropped last time with Forza Horizon 5 in Mexico. first when we came into that preview blessing, I was a little apprehensive about Japan. I didn't think I liked the region as much. I really do prefer the color palette of the Mexican Baja that we were in in the last region. But I will say Japan won me over. The region is truly beautiful. I think the verticality, I think the vistas that you go out and visit, some of the key locations in the region are, are really, really awe inspiring. They're stunning, they're fun to race on. And they crafted a world that is like exciting to just blare through every single time whenever you're racing and just driving around. So the so total package is a win. And what they've done with the racing itself has been a blast. Right. You're going to see it when you open up the game. There's a journal and there's two sides to the journal.
B
Right?
D
There's the Forza Horizon Festival. That is the racing side. You, your goal from going to rookie to legend with your wristbands and of course everything in between. That means your fun speed traps, your bonus signs to smash, your giant jumps to hit the racing that you'll experience. The well that's on the travel side, which I'll get to in a minute, is right. The mascots were fantastic. But yeah, the racing side is still killer. It's awesome, right? All the set pieces of the big races that you want to see, you, you race a gigantic mech. Of course you're going to do races where there's big aerial stunts going on with airplanes all around your car. You're going to tear through all of Japan and what they have to offer from the top of the mountain all the way down to the sea. It's really, really well done. And all the races are super, super fun. They've added things, they've taken away things, they've brought things back that have worked in previous games. I'm really impressed with the drifting Here I do love the Versus mode that you'll see where you'll get a rival and start racing there. I really enjoy what I thought was missing, which was the Goliath race. But I'm happy that those have returned at the end. So that's really cool. Like those races were special to me in Mexico. Now they're back here in Japan. But I think the wristbands, those set pieces were a lot of fun to do. They were exciting. And then on the flip side, I think discovery is a big thing that we're going to talk about here. It's Discover Japan is the tagline and Discovery is at the forefront of this region and of this game. Right. Going to talk about the mascots that you saw, Tim, regional mascot you'll smash into just like the bonus sign. But what stood out to me was this kind of mix of those vista points that I talked about. But you're going 200 miles an hour and you're flying through them and you see them, you're like, that's cool, but I'm moving too fast. This one has put a big emphasis on story and also the edutainment of it all. You know, this kind of mix of education and entertainment. Slash like, hey, let's present you with something. Let's teach you a little bit. And I think you roll your eyes hearing that at a racing game of like, no, Mike, I'm here to go 200 miles an hour. And yes, I agree we're here for the races but it is fun to slow it down. They have these, this mode called day trips where you and One of the NPCs may are going to travel around Japan in these day trip races that lasts about three to six minutes. And all it is is you in a convoy with some dope cars that you probably don't own yet. And she's going to tell you about the region, Japan's history, the car history that you're driving in and then you're going to wrap up with a fun little mini race at the end. And I thought, oh wow, what a really cool way to get me to start learning more about Japan and the car culture that they haven't done in the past yet. And we talk about it before. I always highlight MLB the show with the storylines, right? We talk about sports, games and what they had hands on history with Age of Empires. But like discovery in this, with day trips, of course, the hidden garages that you'll find and now treasure cars really make you want to explore and spend a little extra Time going a little bit slower. The treasure cards, what a treat. You're going to get a postcard with a photo of the car and a little bit of the backdrop. And now it's your goal to go out and explore and find that right? So they'll be like, hey, there's this convenience store in this region. You, here's the photo. Now you're like, slowly I'm find that right. And so I really do love the mix of like, hey, here's the die hard racing scene that we've nailed and we've done all before and now, hey, let's push discovery. Let's push a little bit more of like learning about this area and you finding awesome places that we've crafted in this world. It's a 10 out of 10 video game. I'm really impressed. I can't wait to see. I wanted to reserve my score for online multiplayer, but if you're playing this single player, you'll have a blast. I look forward to playing it with friends.
A
Bless. What are you thinking so far?
B
Yeah, I agree with everything that Mike said, right. Like it's, it's almost a boring review to do because they keep nailing it out the park, every single entry with Forza Horizon. But like I've been into this series Since Forza Horizon 3 and it only gets better and better and better. I'll pick up from one of the things Mike said, which is where we were at in the preview with Japan and our expectations. For me, it was, it was Tokyo in particular. You know, when we were doing the preview, we had a limited amount of races and we got to drive around the open world in Tokyo felt a little bit lifeless and small in the preview. I think being able to play the full game and see the full experience, right. It's not that it's not like they've changed anything based off of the preview, but I think getting the context of getting to race through Tokyo in very specific types of races where it is street race, nighttime, it's raining, you're in a very fast car and you, you are zooming through the streets of Tokyo. That's where it shines, right? It's not necessarily about the, I think it's a little bit about the exploration of Tokyo. But I, I, I do think if you look at the city as a course of Tokyo, right, Tokyo condensed down to racing paths. That's where it shines. And I had a race yesterday that had me like, man, this is the fucking coolest shit ever. Right? I finished the race and immediately I'm like, we're running that back. I'm doing this again because I'm having so much fun here. And so they continue to level up. I don't feel comfortable enough to give a final score yet, but I'll say a 10 in progress, I guess. Right. Like, I continue to keep playing the game. I'm excited for the game to get out into people's hands so that we can see those decals uploaded. Because that's my favorite part of Forza is going online and seeing, oh, this person made a spider man skin, this person made a halo skin. This person made XYZ decal for this car for me. That's what I love. And so can't wait for this get out in people's hands. And yeah, they've done it again with this one, Andy.
C
It's an easy contender. This game rules. I really enjoy the variety of it so far. I really enjoy how every, every race feels so nicely designed. The tracks that, the movements that you're going through. Nothing ever feels like I'm repeating stuff. Nothing ever feels boring. I think Forza's, I mean, what a gem that they have Forza Horizon to have this, to have this tried and true formula that they could go to and it seems like it's one of the harder things to fuck up and that's awesome because if they could just replicate this in newer regions, I'm always going to be back for fun. Everything you're doing in this game is just always this. There's a new discovery, there's a new car on the side of the road for sale. There's a new treasure defined treasure hunt car that's off hidden somewhere like Mike was mentioning and, and it tells you it's by this region and it's near the beach and you go, shit, I want to go find that now. There's always something new to look at. And yeah, I think that so much of my playing time has been multiplied by how great that they integrate your friends scores. I want to beat you all scores. I don't like that Mike had 198 miles per hour on that speed trap.
B
I.
C
How did he do it? I want to beat him. What car was he using? You know, I love that stuff. I think it's so perfectly implemented here. I, if anything, like we talk about how, how we're starting to feel like, all right, Xbox is kind of, you know, returning to like bringing the fans back, bringing back the community. I would, I would love it if it would break immersion, but I would love it if it was just our Xbox avatars. I always talk about wanting to bring back avatars. I don't really give a shit about the character I created and because I just, it was pretty limited.
A
So limited.
C
So limited. Like shout out to them for having prosthetics and I think like hearing aids. Yeah. But like no facial hair, which is like kind of facial crazy. It just felt like an oversight, honestly.
B
It was like, oh yeah, that's it's been like this for years.
C
I want, yeah. I wonder if like they're like, oh shit, we didn't unhide that option. My bad. It was hidden the whole time, so that kind of felt like useless. And I don't really, you know, when I, as I'm unlocking things, I don't really care for unlocking clothes for my driver because I just don't like the way he looks anyway, so I don't really give a damn. But all of the, the super spins, the, the wheel spins, unlocking this new thing, getting more currency and then you go, I want to upgrade that one, the closest Honda Civic to mine, which is like the 2018 that they have. And, and I want to make it as fast as possible. I love just getting in there and already last night seeing some of the uploaded designs and, and color schemes that you could do for any of these vehicles that you love. I don't know this game rules. I, I, I'm with Bless. I don't really, I haven't played enough to give it a score necessarily, but it's way the up there. I really, really like it.
D
And a quick one. Tim, we haven't talked about the best music in the series so far. Dude, they nailed the music, they nailed the region, they nailed the culture. They were like, hey, we, we're going to give you the perfect blend. And like out of all the Forza horizons you've played, this is the best radio station where it is. I'm not turning down the sound and playing my own music. It is like, oh, I'm into this and I love switching stations, finding something new, dude.
B
100% I when it comes to games like this, I feel like, I feel like the art of a licensed soundtrack is, has become a lost art.
A
You know what I mean?
B
Like it's not. I, when I think of racing games, when I think of my favorite racing games like the Burnout series or need for Speeds, those soundtracks burned my brain. And yeah, I've been listening to, I think it's Block Party radio, which is like the most hip hoppy radio they have And I'm very impressed by the selection, like recent songs that came out within the last year that I'm like, yo, you got some little sims on here. Shout out to the radio.
C
Yeah, there's a. On the, the rock station. They have Coheed and turn style. I'm like, this rules.
B
Yeah.
C
And then I'll go straight to the like, I, I don't know anything about juven bass artists, but it's like when I think of Forza, I think of drum and bass in the same way that when I think of Tony Hawk and I think of hip hop or like thrash, punk metal and like the, the soundtrack here rules and it is always supplementary. I did make a mistake though and I told Tim about this, that as soon as I was about to head into the. The Gundam, the, you know, the Gundam sort of event or whatever where you, you race a mech. It's not a Gundam, it's just a mech. I made the mistake of turning the radio off and then as soon as I got into the event I had no music and I was like, oh no. I think I, I this up. So I kind of like ruined the excitement for me. But it, much like the other events, it is a very curated. We want you to experience it with this song and with this soundtrack. So don't be like me and like accidentally turn that. I think I was trying to like turn on or look for the Little Anna, which is like their version of Siri or whatever. Think I just hit the wrong button and, and messed that up. But I mean it's just such a cool spectacle and this is one of those games that like, I love the high frame rates, I love the performance of it. I, I think the game is beautiful without all the ray tracing. This isn't something that I'm like, I need the cutting edge visual. I'm having such a great time just playing on my Xbox as I. I'm playing on my PC primarily. But the past couple nights I've just been sitting there booting up the Xbox after watching a couple episodes of the Boys because it is play anywhere and just having it on my Xbox now. And it's an awesome time.
A
Yeah. And I agree with you fully. Having said that, oh my God, the ray tracing is so beautiful. And I'm just like, I will take a slight hit in some of the performance. Not that I even need to necessarily. This game runs great. Yeah, this game runs so beautifully and I'm was cranking up the ray tracing and granted I have a beast machine, but I'M like, holy shit.
C
I mean, it's really pretty when you can.
A
Yeah, exactly. I was like, I'm going to. I'm going to slow down a bit just to, like, look at this. Because, like, it. It's constantly just vista after vista of breathtaking and such a great sense of speed. Sticking with the music real quick, I echo everything y' all are saying. Like the. I do think that this is a very, very strong soundtrack. I'm not familiar enough with all the horizons to say it's the best one, but I know that I love this. And I've been getting really into Japanese city pop in the last couple years. Talk about this a lot on KF podcast, and there's like multiple stations that are just all that, and it just hits so hard. These games always have the big kind of intro, set piece moment that kind of take you through kind of what makes this iteration unique. And going through the opening of this one, you get some of the more frozen tundra and the snowy mountain stuff. Then you get, you know, more traditional, just racing. And then, of course, you get the drifting right? And as you're doing this drifting part, it's like just Japanese city pop bump it. And I'm like, this is like such a. It's just such a good vibe that you want to be a part of. The one word I keep going back to for Forza Horizon 6 is satisfying. I feel like everything I do in the game is just so satisfying, whether it's the feel of the car, the sound of the car, how different each car feels, and you get so used to one. And then you're constantly able to switch things up because you're getting so much new shit without having to really strive. But then you also have your goals, right? You have the things that you're like, I can't wait till I get that. So you want to grind. So when you do see an icon as you're driving, you're like, you know what? I am going to slow down. I know I'm on my way to this big race, but I'm going to hit this billboard or whatever it is just because I want to check things off the list, because it'll get me closer to that next car I want or next paint color or whatever it is. And yeah, it's just like, I feel that at least what I've experienced so far, I wasn't ever upset at, like, I finished a race. And sometimes with games, I get a little too completionist. I feel like there's just in me where I'M just like, I'm going to three star this before I move on. Like, pragmata is a good example, like, doing those, like, training things. I'm like, I'm not going to move on with the story until i3 star these challenges, and then I just get hooked on that. And I find so much fun in that. With Forza, I don't feel the need to stop and go back and, like, not move on because I know there's so much out there that is going to give me the same thrill I'm looking for. And it's like a very kind of satisfying experience to not feel the need to. To be perfect, but more so feel the need to just have fun with this. And I feel like doing that allows me to get another car that handles a little bit more the way I want it to. And then I'm like, oh, well, now I'm going to go back and three star the out of what I was talking about, like, with what I have now.
D
Love it, man.
A
Can't wait to play more.
B
The game is a buffet where everything is surprisingly quality. You know, like, to the thing of you having that itch to want to complete or three star. I do like that for all these events, there's essentially two check marks. You can get the check mark for finishing the event and then the check mark for getting first place in it. And it's so funny how I can go either way as I'm playing the game where I finish an event and I'm like, okay, well, now I want to. I want to try this over here. I want to do this over here. I love the dirt racing so much in Forza Horizon. And so, like, when I'm. When I finish a dirt race, that's where I'm like, all right, now I'm going to replay it and get the first place, right? And like, when I do a street race and I'm really bad at the street races, I'm like, okay, cool, I did this. If it's a really fun one, I'll go back and try to get first place again. If I'm like, all right, on the next thing, I don't feel the need to have to stop and be like, okay, let me get frustrated and redo this thing over and over again.
D
And that's part of that is that adjusting difficulty, right? We've seen it before, but they have so much that you can turn on, turn off, and adjust to play your way, right? Whether it be the driving assist, whether it be the difficulty, it always says, hey, You've won a bunch of races. You want us to turn this up a little bit? And you're like, yeah, let's try that. Hey, you've lost a bunch of races. Do you want us to turn that down? And I love what you said, Tim, of, like, every time I finished a race, especially because I wanted to go up more in difficulty, so I tried to get better. It's like, hey, you know what? I took second on that. I'm not going to three star that. Because after every race, it hits you, hey, here's three more options of like, do you want to go do this? We'll set your GPS now, or you can back out and do whatever you want. But I love that it's always like, hey, we're going to give you something else.
A
Onto the neck. We're going to onto the neck.
D
Moving forward. I love that on the.
A
I have a question for y'.
D
All.
A
Are y' all good at Forza Horizon 6?
B
No, no, I'm okay.
C
I, I, I'll say this. I am way too good for normal, average difficulty. And then when it says you've won a bunch of races, you want to move up, I'm like, I need a middle ground between this and the next one. Because when I go to the next one, like, I'm, I'm kind of just ass at driving games as it is. So it's not, this isn't me being like, oh, the game's too hard or whatever, but, like, the one above average, I'm like, damn, dude. I'm always getting fourth or third, and the cars are just faster than mine. And it's like, give me a little bit of a, a middle ground.
B
I 100% agree with that.
D
Here's the car catalog, right? There's over 500 cars. And as Tim said, like, sometimes you take the loss and then you progress. You're going to get a better car. I noticed when I was playing, it's like, do you kind of stick with the cars early on? It's like, hey, this is my car. I'm not buying many cars. I'm, I'm getting X, Y and Z. You're gonna get a bunch more cars and you'll come back and, like, you'll be ready for that level. So I do think it is definitely the performance of the car. Also, the rewind feature is big, right? Like, I love that I've progressed over
B
rewinding, though, because I'm an over rewinder where I'm like, ah, I hit the same thing.
D
I like when you rewind so far back, they're like, there's no more rewind. You've rewind enough.
C
We ran out of DVR space.
A
There's something about the rewind though that I feel like half the time I fuck up and like it never stops where I want it to. And I feel like I'm always the wrong button to like, to be like, okay, cool, I'm ready to go back. And I end up just rewinding.
C
You probably hold it way too long
A
maybe thinking that I don't have the balance right.
D
Oh, interesting. I thought it was just sections. I thought they just always.
B
Yeah, well, like.
C
No, no, it is, but. But if you, if, if you tap once, it takes you back a section. If you tap again, it takes you back a section. But there's such a. I might be ingrained part of our brain where we're like, oh, hold it down. To hold down this rewind, I need a tap. I need you. Holding it down is telling it like multiple sections. And so suddenly you're like way the. You're like, why did I go that far back?
B
I was telling Kevin yesterday because I was playing it in the streaming room and Kevin was sitting next to me playing cribs in desert. He's over 200 hours.
A
Oh yeah. He is insane. Oh yeah.
B
But I was telling Kevin that was private information
A
here at work.
B
But I was telling G. I'm like this, It's.
D
I.
B
It's not that. It's. This game is too good for me is the thing, right? I'm playing this game and I'm like, this is such a very finely tuned, well designed racing game and everything feels so great and accurate that like, I wouldn't change anything about how this game controls. I just like, I just don't have the stuff.
D
You'll get better. And like one for me is I'm awful at drifting. Tim, I need a comprehensive course on how to learn how to drift. Like, I need you to tell me. Okay, we start to hit the handbrake here or loosen up on this break. You're going into the corner too fast. They don't really have that. It's like you just do them and I'm just swinging that ass out left. There is a full on Tokyo Drift Club Japan that you'll join and it's a fun story, six mission story. And like they don't teach you anything. They just expect you to know, which is a little disappointing. But throughout that, you'll learn about the Drift King of Japan. You'll get better cars that are clearly tuned to drift. And the moment you feel that, it's like, oh, well, I'm drifting with the wrong car. Like, I clearly can drift. I just have to have the right car for that. That needs to be tuned to this. And I'm not doing that with X, Y and Z car. That's why I feel like I'm so bad at this.
B
I. I do want to shout out that I'm very okay with not being great at Forza. Like, there's something about it where amazing. I play it differently from playing Skreemer. Where Skreemer. I am wanting to get first place every right. And I am. I think I'm great at Skreemer.
D
Right.
B
And that's a different racing game. But I think there's something about Forza where it balances being a sim racer with being an arcade racer in a way where I, I'm just here to experience. I'm not here to win necessarily.
D
I'm right.
A
I'm right there with you. But Mike, I, I feel like I either didn't hear you, you didn't answer. Are you good at Forza Horizon 6?
D
No, I'm banned. I don't. I'm not good at.
A
Because I was watching you and I was like, oh, shit, Mike got the stuff, man.
D
I. I mean, I bang into people. I enjoy banging into people. So, like, if we come into a corner, as Washburn will tell you, get upset, I'm going to T bone you. I love doing that. I am in it to win it. Like, my goal is to three star everything and like I will three star. First off, I won't leave until I three star. So yeah, my obsession is to get better. I wish I could tell you I'm good at it, Tim, but no, I'm not good at this.
B
It's.
C
It's so funny you mentioning the difficulty of. Of drifting and I, I liken it to. To having a round of golf mic. You could be playing like garbage all day and if you hit one amazing shot, the whole day becomes about that.
D
Yeah.
C
And there are times where, like I'm hitting walls constantly, but if I. There are times where I will just nail a drift. So scientifically accurate.
D
Yeah.
C
And it's like, wow, this is ecstasy. Like, this feels so good right now to be nailing this and to be. And it's a. It's a turn that goes around many corners and you have perfectly missed every corner of the barrier and you were. Oh, it's just like, wow, this is singing right now.
D
I love it.
A

D
I'm just looking at a fun one. I you know, there's so much I want to talk about. I want to talk about the estate and all of your homes. You have customizable garages in every single one of them. And the estate, of course, is a gigantic plot of land that you can build out whatever you want with. There's also car meetups that I'm very excited to see with multiplayer. I showed up to my first car meetup yesterday, there was nobody there because it's multiplayer. Yeah, it's like Mike alone and they're like, oh, shuffle through the cars. I'm like, there are no cars. Like it's you.
C
That one magic tournament, you know, stuff,
D
you know, I guess. Let's talk about the discovery with garages and your estate, right? Because the big one was the estate. This idea that you and your friends could create something of your of your own. And we've seen user generated content already in Forza games before, but now it's kind of like, hey, this is just a blank piece of land that you are in full control of, that you can upload, that other people can download, edit, play with. They can even take some of your creations and make it your own. Right. Like you could upload your creation, have other people download it. It is a very interesting tool. It is forge from Halo. It is Battlefield Portal. There are people who are going to be very good at it and then you're going to have dummies like me who who are trying to connect the road and one piece of the road is like tilted up. So all of a sudden it becomes a roadblock. Right. Like it wasn't, I would say from a novice beginner kind of toolset creator, it wasn't fun and engaging. Right. It is not a click and it keeps going. It is very much of like you're going to be very detail oriented. You're going to put down the pieces perfectly into what the creations you want. I ended up just throwing six cool life sized dinosaurs all around a mini tiny track that I created.
A
Call it a day.
D
You did it, Mike. You tried your best, but it is a big one that they. You know, I think the best part about forts is they don't make you do something you don't want to do.
C
Right.
D
There's endless opportunities for you to go out and play. The estate is very much of like, hey, you get it, you buy it, you learn the backstory of it. And if you never want to put a piece on there, you never have to, which is cool. But it will be dope to like, if I do get the itch to create something. I can already imagine, I want to make the big bowl where people drive sideways up in the dome. You know, I want to make the dome in that. I want to make a cool track, but that takes time and you got to be into It. But it is something I saw along with the garages. Right. You're going to unlock, I want to say, 8 to 12 different garages throughout the playthrough. And each one of those homes, I should say, you unlock eight homes. You. Each one of those has a garage that you can put things in, little props that'll make for fun photo ops. So it's really up to you as the user on how much you want to create on that. Did you guys try any of that?
C
No, because I was just having so much fun with the game, and I think when I tried it out during the preview, I was immediately not super into it. And that's coming from somebody who loves getting into that sort of creative portion of my brain where I love, you know, either building houses in survival games or whatever. But when I tried it out during the preview, I was like, I kind of just want to play more. And this time I didn't even try it.
A
I.
C
You know, as I'm back in Maze House, he was like the main character that introduces you to Tokyo and to Japan as a whole.
B
You.
C
You start off in her house, and then you kind of explore from out. You know, you keep on exploring and find other houses. I didn't even try to edit a base or compound or anything like that.
A
Yeah, it's like we're looking at the kind of opening moments of the game here. And like I was saying, like, the Verizon games are kind of known for these big, epic opening moments. I was a little let down by this compared to last games, and I feel like that was such a high standard of, like, being dropped out of the plane and everything. Yeah, like, this had some moments that were pretty cool. Like when the train shows up and all that. I was like, all right, cool that we're seeing here. But the. Without spoiling it, like, the thing that it kind of ends on. I. I was like, oh, what are they about to do? And it's just kind of a dud. But immediately after that, it wasn't bad. It just wasn't as good as last time, I think. I really like the kind of onboarding that this game has compared to the previous games I've played. Like, the getting to know the characters, them giving you, like, the right task to, like, have you explore a good amount of the. The area to kind of learn the different types of driving you're going to be doing, I thought was great. And you were talking about this earlier, Mike, but, like, the. The education of it all. Like, I think that it's Melded with the gameplay in such a great way. Like those, the, the day trips, I love them. I, I love that it's like kind of takes me out of just me going on my path to the next race. It is a little bit more about like learning the area and I think it's not overbearing and I, I think it's the right level of VO where they're like telling you things. But it does it seems in world but in the fun Forza Horizon world, you know. So it is kind of like I'd
B
love to live Forza Horizon world. Everything's happy.
C
The biggest, the biggest celebrities in Forza are the radio. Like you want a radio, Tyler bro.
D
Like the coolest.
C
Like that's what every kid wants to be.
D
I mean, yeah, the fun facts, right, Tim is like I'll never know about the Tokyo Tower, right. And how that used to be a broadcast tower. Every five years they paint it and it takes one full year to paint. Right.
A
We know that now.
D
Never known that unless the three little minute there on that. I will say I do think the intro is one of their weaker ones. I don't want to say it's the weakest but like yeah, coming off of five, I don't think the intro was wow. But that first wristband event was really fun. The Mousetrap Wipeout obstacle course. Yeah, that's what you'll see a lot of user generated where it is like hey, you're going up in vertical slices of like cargo containers. Dude, that shit wrong many jump. That was really fun and I'm looking forward to more of that.
A
It's.
C
It's wild to just think about like how, how I kind of take for granted the, the design of tracks and what makes a track fun to race on. And it really wasn't until this game that made me think about what is making this fun. And it's. It's constantly like hitting you with something new. And it reminds me of when I'm wowed by any sort of level design in an action rpg. And as you're acting, it was really that race Mike that I'm like, damn, this is so creative and fun and it makes me want to continue to play this game because I'm having such a good time with the variety of every turn being this new thing now you have to kind of. Now this is like a super narrow straightaway. I just love everything they've done with the track so far.
B
Yeah, it's. It's crazy the variety in this game and it feels like it grows game by game. One of the activities that I wish we got a little bit more from was the in city delivery activity where. Where you are essentially delivering a thing and you're racing another driver who's delivering to the same address. 1. I think the story setup for it is kind of weird because it is all right, hey, deliver this package to this address. And then you start. And they're like, oh, the address also ordered a thing from a different driver. And it's like, why is this happening the in. My only real beef with it is that it almost feels like a great setup for a crazy taxi mode. And as I'm playing it I'm like, this could have just been a crazy taxi mode. Like why am I not just stopping? And like why is that multiple things, getting a multiple things, you know, timer, counting down and all that stuff. And so like I wonder if that's just. They didn't want to copy it or what. But I would love to see a better take on that in the next game. But yeah, overall, like I agree with that cargo ship Bishop.
D
Oh wait. And they'll play with that, right? I think there's two ways. There's two ways. I think about that. One user generated content. It is so interesting when you bring up like building out tracks and what they did. It's like when you have just a plot of land and like how people can create and like creating in a small space. You're going to go to a rocket factory and you're going to drive within the rocket factory and like playing with that is like, oh wow. They're building a track in some of like the most unique environments so far that they've ever done. And it's really cool to see how they build that all out. It's a lot of fun.
A
And then with that Mike, you know, Horizon's kind of known for their, their follow up content, right. Of having like DLC packs and a lot of license things and just like fun out of the box ideas. Like whether it's the hot wheel stuff that we've seen a couple times or I remember with Was it Horizon 3 had the fast and Furious crossover, it being Japan. I'm like, I wonder what they're going to do. Like are we going to get like a full on like initial D, like get the music, like have all the, the fun of it. Like that could be so sick.
B
Yeah.
D
And the various regions. Right. We'll talk about all the different spots that you'll see from the mountain to the city of Tokyo. I think they've nailed Tokyo as blessing. Instead of like thinking about the racetrack within that is, but also the highway system.
B
Right.
D
The Rainbow Bridge being a highlight. And there's. It's like the Bay Bridge with the top and bottom part of it. There's multiple ways to go within it. Like, there's a lot of cool areas that you'll get to explore and that they build off of. Like, when I think of Mexico, right, coming off of the last one, I thought about the Baja. I thought about the rainforest that they added, the giant volcano. This one has very similar stuff, but also very unique stuff. Right. The coastal fishing towns that you'll be on the side of, the rice farms and stuff. And it's like, oh, these are all fun and unique places to like, rip around in.
B
Did you guys have favorite cars? Because I unlocked a Japanese taxi and I was like, this is really nice. This is neat. This is really fun for me.
C
I mean, when I, whenever I played Forza games, I always. Forza Horizon games rather. I always have my archetypes. Like, I love the, the super insane super supercars like the, the Lambos or the, or the Lotuses or McLarens or whatever. And then I love having a really awesome version of a Normie car. And then I love souping the fuck out of the smallest, dumbest looking car ever. And I love just how much faster and more powerful you can make those little. What basically just look like go karts. Yeah, in a way. But yeah, it always depends. But I think that's what's so great about the variety is I'm driving and I'm having a great time in the vehicle I'm in. And then I'll see a car on the side of the road and it's for sale, and it's a one that I don't have in my library. Yeah, let me buy it. Now I'm driving this. And now this is a new adventure. There's just always something new. And like Michael's mentioning there's always a new carrot at the end of the stick that I want to, you know, I want to chew on.
D
Yeah. Mine will always be the warthog, the UNSC Warthog. And that is the best.
A
Right?
D
Like, when you talk about dirt road racing, I'm riding in the water. It is so cool to live out that fantasy. And like Tim brought up with like, crossovers. You. You race the. What's this? What's the airplane they got in the. In Halo? I forget the name of it, but like racing Pelican. Yeah, racing the Pelican race. It's like, man, that is so.
C
That was amazing.
D
I love that they add that into the game. It's awesome.
C
Was that in three or four?
D
Four. No, it wasn't in five. I don't remember. They all blur together now. Yeah, yeah. I mean this game is fantastic. It's a ton of Fun to play. 500 cars. I wish there was. Like, it's so. It's all about the presentation. It's all about the showmanship of this game. And so now that I've kind of completed it and I want to dive into the 500 car library and I have millions of dollars to spend, I kind of just want to do like the auto buy and buy all these cars. But it's very much like you click one, you buy it. Okay. We got to show you it all and then you got to back out. Then you got to back out one more time and then buy another one. It's like, I have a lot of money. I'd like to just spend all of it right now and then I'll pick the car, do the cool showmanship stuff. So it is a little bit of a slowdown on that when it's like, hey, I do want to just add, add these to my library. Let's go.
C
I, I was kind of bummed out by some of the customization options and I'm sure it was just me being dumb because I've never been the type to get really good with using pre made decals to create stuff. But I really, really tried. I was really, really set on making the N7 sticker for my Honda Civic. Yeah. And, and I wanted, and it's like you have a bunch of shapes here to use at your disposal. But they weren't letting me scale or you know, squish or stretch any of. Because I, I see a triangle and I'm like, oh, that would be perfect for this. For this. The triangle that's at the end of the logo or whatever. Or I see a block and I want to squeeze it so I can make it be the first part of the letter N. And it's. It was kind of preventing me from doing any of that. And I'm not sure if maybe I was just doing some shit wrong. And I don't know how people are getting like pre made things into the game. I don't know if that's like some sort of upload feature.
D
I, I assume there's an upload feature in this. Okay, what I remember what we'll see here starting this week and next like blessing brought up of like the user generated content's gonna be about, it's about to go. There's definitely an upload.
B
I remember trying to learn it a long time ago, probably with like Forza Horizon 4 or something. And it was like I was trying to follow a tutorial and very quickly I was like, I don't got the stuff. It was very much go on your PC, open up Photoshop or something and then layer this thing this way. And I'm like, I don't, I, I'll let people do it for me.
C
Yeah, I remember making one of those little dumbass round cars and I bought a, or not a bot, but I downloaded a user generated Kirby skin and then it had like the Kirby eyes in the front and it was all. You were just a little pink round.
B
I mean there are some. What's his name from cars? Lightning McQueen.
C
Oh sure.
B
Yeah, there are already some lightning. Lightning McQueen in there. I want to shout out three things. One, fast travel. I don't know if this was a change in one of the recent Forzas or if it was this one, but fast travel is way easy this time around and I like that. I thought it was. I'm pretty sure at some point it used to be you had had to like find the fast travel signs and break them or some shit here. It's like if you've been somewhere you can fast travel or if you've passed an icon you can fast travel directly to it to the auto drive feature. I know y' all might look at me and be like the driving game, why would you let it drive for you? And there's something nice about just wanting to get into the races and me
A
being like we're trying to go and also be able to see in a little bit slower fashion like what's going on around you without crashing into everything.
D
I like that option.
B
Yeah. I'm like, just drive there for me. And while you drive there, I'm going to fucking hang up my clothes, make my bed real quick, hang out in the world, look around the world and just focus in on the races.
C
One weird thing though, with the auto drive it ended up doing a speed trap for me.
B
Yes.
D
That was the only thing you can,
B
you can auto drive races. Which I think is like, okay, well I don't need you to do this for me.
C
Yeah. I do wish that there was and hope that they maybe they add a bit more dynamic camera stuff similar to what you can do in GTA or Red Dead when you're on your horse. And you could like, I, I feel like the. You just do the dynamic camera and that's it. And I wish there were options to like, I want, I want to see like a. I want to see a really zoomed out shot of like my car doing some. And, and a lot of it is just like really close angles and I, I wish there was a bit more to play with there. But aside from that, I really did enjoy the auto drive feature. Going from race to race.
A
What camera angle do you guys race with?
C
The.
B
The furthest.
C
Furthest.
A
Furthest. Pulled out.
C
Okay.
D
I'm pretty standard. If I change the camera angle, I'll go hands on the wheel inside the car. Yeah, that's my two options.
A
Yeah. There's something about me where I feel like I was broken with Ridge Racer on the psp where it was a lot easier to drift in that game and play that game if it was the camera. That's like just full first person where it's like you don't see any of the car at all. And so I found myself playing like that.
C
You just feel like you're a human running.
A
Yeah, exactly.
C
A gun, like swinging.
B
I mean what broke me was GTA, like playing PS2. GTA is where I think by default
A
you're way pulled out.
B
So like that's just how I play driving games now.
A
Yeah.
B
But I did want to shout out one more thing. The end of race. The way they queue up. What do you want to do next? Is so. It's so nice this time around cuz they'll always hit you with like two to four events. Usually four events. They'll recommend a couple. But it's very easy now to. As soon as you finish a race, see. All right, what's next for me? What do I want to do? There's always a variety there. It's really, really nice.
C
I love it because it feels like I am. It feels like I'm playing the game on shuffle where I'm getting variety. And if I just. Really good. Way to put it, if I just did a city race, road road, street race, the next one that's recommended by Anna, the little AI voice that talks to you that says, good evening Nitro. And I'll look at it and it'll be like, yeah, here's a road race. It's like, yeah, let's do, let's do a road race now. And I, I helps me kind of make the game have a lot more variety because I do love switching from street race to road race to cross country. And I Love all. I love getting a taste of all of it.
A
Picto3 in the chat says I'll play this on Game Pass for two hours, then probably never play it again. I mean first off, with Game Pass you can do that. But also it's like I do feel like this is the type of game and I've been saying this, has been talking about it in, in previews, but like I really feel like whether you play for two hours or 20 hours, like you're having fun. Like this is just such a incredibly designed game that even if racing's not your thing, I feel like there's something here for you. The presentation alone makes this like a worthy endeavor to boot up and like check out. And it is just pretty damn cool. And like the gameplay is just so solid that like it. I feel like it's not for everybody, but I think it's for most people. Like there's, there's a lot of fun game here.
C
I mean I, I said it, I said it many times of like when I first played Forza Horizon 4. Being the person who does not fuck with driving games and had not played a driving game since probably need for Speed Underground 2 or something and, and playing Forza Horizon 4, going, oh shit. I'm not a big driving game fan, but I am a fan of this driving game. I'm a fan of this racing game. And the same for Forza Horizon 5 and then now 6. I think they're just such awesomely made games. I also think they're so fun if
B
you're somebody who's, who's playing every Forza Horizon every year. For me it's similar to playing a sports game, right. Even though at Forza Horizon takes more time and so there's a bit more polish there. But I'm somebody who, I love Forza Horizon. You know, again, 10 out of 10 for the last however many years they've been putting these games out. I don't know if I'm going to put in as much time as Mike's already put in.
C
Right.
B
With the 30 hours I, for me it is. I've experienced this before, but also I like seeing what's new. I like seeing the new region. I'm at the, at the moment going to keep playing, but something else is going to come along that probably pulls me away. But I think no matter how much time you want to put into it, it's fine. If this is your first virtual horizon, then we'll, we'll see. If you play only two hours, that's what I'll say.
A
Yeah, that's a good way to put it. We have Phil the Trucker saying, this game, this should be an 80 game. This game should cost at least 20 more than cruising USA from 30 years ago. 20, 26. Gamers are living nice. Hey, and with Game Pass, was it
C
really that expensive back in the day?
A
Holy cruising. Yeah, probably right.
C
Bucks.
A
That's crazy. Alex Bobco says thoughts on the 60 upgrade for early access. I think it's fucking bullshit again that it's just an option, but that brings it to $120.
D
Yeah, they've done this in the past or more. I, I don't know if that, that's how much it is, but they've done that in the past for previous Forza games as well. That is the Xbox move right now with the Xbox Game pass idea. Right. So that's how it's going to go.
A
Yeah. See what else we got. Zach says, I can't believe they haven't updated the player character models. I think they've been using the same one since Forza Horizon 3, but somehow they look worse.
B
I agree.
D
You don't see them often. I think that's the problem. Like, I always say that about Madden games of like, why aren't you updating the people in this in the crowd? And it's like, Mike, you don't see them that often. And that's the reality of this is like, you aren't gonna see, you're gonna see the backside of your car more than you see anything else in the video game.
B
I, I'll, I'll push back there. Because you see them after every single race.
D
They hop out for a couple of seconds.
B
Yeah. They're, they're waving their hand, stand on the podium, doing a little dance. Like, if I feel like at that point, just don't show them to me. Like, if that's going to be the, the, the, the thing. Right. If you're going to show them to me that much, then, yeah, let me customize.
C
If I could, if I could reallocate, if I could go back in time, reallocate funds for the development of this, I'd say whatever money and development time is going into the base building, put that into character creation.
D
Yeah.
C
You know, make me, you know, again, the car is what we care about. And this, you know, it's like the, the joke about the people making the joke about Spider man, how you, you can't walk into buildings and they're like, oh, you just want to play man instead of Spider Man. And it's like. And it's like, it's so funny. People would photoshop out Spider and it's just like. It's just Peter Parker and Miles standing there.
A
Oh, so funny.
C
But it's like, obviously you're. You're spending so much time in your car. This is a racing game. But it is bizarre that you get to unlock stuff to dress up your avatar.
D
Yeah.
C
But you don't have facial hair options. Like, it's. It's an odd. It's an odd thing, I think.
B
Yeah. My, my biggest complaint. Listen, I know, I know somebody from Xbox watches and listens put my name in the game.
D
You know, what's his name in the game?
B
Okay.
C
It's a basic word.
D
Yeah.
C
It's a noun.
B
I know you don't hear that name often in like Western society, but like very popular name in Nigeria. And so. So like, do me a solid.
C
Yeah. Somebody not even blesses there.
B
No, I do Beast. Because when Anna navigates, she's like, okay, Beast. My license plate says okay Beast.
C
So I had it as Andy as first, but then I saw Nitro. I was like, I gotta go. Nitro.
B
Nitro.
A
Pretty fucking cool. Anywhere else you want to go, Mike?
D
No. I saw GameSpot, gave it an 8 out of 10. And I do identify with what some of their critiques were. Right. When you talk about getting the legend wristband, right, this is the whole progression of Rookie to legend. And you're going to be earning wristbands as you go which will then unlock big set piece races which you saw with Forza Horizon 5, which were the Goliath races. Right. Of like, hey, you've proved your worth. Now you're going to unlock the next set of things. Right. And so every time you unlock a wristband, you'll do the big set piece and then five more icons will appear. Twelve more icons will appear. Well, when you do get to, hey, it's time to go to Legend island, right. And become a legend. It very much is a, hey, you're going to have to do everything on your map, so please be prepared of like when you get to that. I definitely see where their frustration was. I had the same feeling of like, when it was finally time I completed every race and I still need a lot more xp and it's like, oh, I need to do every mini icon on the map now. And it was, hey, that's a lot. I just wanted to get to that. But. But at the same time, to get legend status, you're doing it all. I wanted to do it all as well. So it's a give and take there but I, I definitely get where they're coming from.
B
Yeah, nice.
A
Can't wait to play more. Forz Horizon 6 coming very, very soon for everybody. Let us know what car you're going to be driving, how excited you are and yeah, where you want to see the next one because we've done Japan.
B
Dude, I again, these are just personal blessing, you know, requests but put it in Lagos, like Lagos, Nigeria. We don't get many games that take place in Africa and I feel like that would be such a fun location for a Forza Horizon game. So lobbing that I needed to hear
C
it pronounced that because I've always said it as Lagos my whole life.
B
Yeah, I think people pronounce it different ways.
C
I like that. No, that's cool. Legos now, you know you made the. That's what, it's canon now to me.
A
Yeah.
B
I said it yesterday to Kevin and he thought I was saying legos.
A
I mean I thought you're saying that too. And I was like, how would they.
C
Because they had a Lego LEGO mode. Yeah.
A

We're doing Big Trouble, Little China, one of Nick Scarpino's favorite movies of all time. You've heard him talk about it. If you either know exactly what this movie is or you have never heard of it before, and if you've heard of it, it's not the movie you think it is. We're joining Nick. We're going to talk about it. I can't wait till next time. I love you all. Goodbye.
