If you're watching live, you can be part of the show by super chatting on YouTube.com kind of funny games. Remember, we couldn't do this without your support. Shout out to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney. This psalm twining. We already got a super chat coming in hot here from JBC saying friendly reminder that blessed Roger on crack Pragmata is game of the Year. I again, I would not go that far. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions. I don't agree with those opinions, but it sounds like you don't either. Mr. JBC. Let's begin with the topic of the show. A little game of the year. Check in. We do these quarterly, it would seem, Greg.
Greg Miller
That's right.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
We check in whenever the hell we want. It's May. It feels like a good time. There's been a lot of game reviews we've been doing the last couple of weeks. This is probably the most the teams had to divide and conquer a bunch of different video games that we've ever had because of how stacked April and May have been. So I kind of want to do a check in. We have a lot of games here that we've put down on our potential contender lists. But in terms of order of conversation, I want to start with two questions. One, how many games are y' all confident are going to end up on your top 10 at the end of the year? And is there a game that any of you feel is going to be your game of the year already? Yeah. The answer could be no. My answer is no.
Greg Miller
I feel like I have several Games that I imagine will net out in the top 10.
Bless Andy
I had.
Greg Miller
I, you know, I didn't. I thought about the number one slot but when you get into it, yeah, there's several games that I feel like. I don't think my top 10 is like locked, but I feel like I have a good amount. And then what was do I think I know definitively what game of the
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
year will be Your game of the year. Like is that on the list yet?
Greg Miller
Maybe, yeah. When we talk about it. Maybe.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, I guess I'm there too. I'm going to maybe for, for my number one but I definitely have five that I'm like I would be shocked if these don't make my. My top 10 at the end of the year. What about you Andy?
Bless Andy
I don't think I've played my goatee yet and if I have maybe I feel like ah, you know, every. All these games are awesome but I haven't played anything that feels like truly generational one of those, you know. And I'm just again thinking back to the Tears of the Kingdoms, the Elden Rings, things like that. But I think based off of yesterday or the preview we did a couple days ago for Mina the Hollower, if that game continues on with its consistency and how great it is, I think that would be the highest on my list so far. And then Cyrus is probably right below it. But I would say I've played probably about five games that'll be a contender so far.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Jesus Christ.
Bless Andy
Oh Mina was two days ago. Yesterday was Forza.
Greg Miller
I know, right?
Bless Andy
Dang. Yeah.
Mike
Flying through the week.
Bless Andy
Flying through the week, Mike. Yeah.
Mike
Right now I have about 15 games on my top 10. I had to eliminate some for today's conversation as of right now.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Eliminate some?
Mike
Yeah, I had to take some off man. It's been a banger year for me and I even have non 2026 games that I could slide in here to make it a top 20 already.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Mike
Because I've just been gaming Tim, but your boy Snowbug Mike right now has about three that I feel will be locked in to to my top 10. But then there's a couple of really good standouts in here that are at my 4 through 10 spot that could easily have a conversation because there are some really good games that have already dropped.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Who is most confident in a game at the highest on their list right now? Because that's where I want to start. It'll be me. Resident Evil 9. I. I am very like Resident Evil 9 is my game of the year. So far and the further we get from it because I do feel that was probably the first big game of the year that I loved. I think Mario Tennis was before that, but that's not making my list. And then there was a couple other
Bless Andy
like, you get back to that story mode. It really opens up.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I ended up finishing. Oh yeah, I made it all the way through.
Bless Andy
You were in your pandemic and I was.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I was in my. My own personal pandemic. But no Resident Evil 9. Like the. The further I get away from it, the more I'm trying to just enamored with what it pulled off. Like, obviously I'm always a sucker for the nostalgia stories of like finishing the story or going back to old characters and how long it's been since we've had New Leon storyline. Like, obviously it hasn't been long since we've played as Leon because of these remakes. But to see his story continued and for it to be as awesome as it was and pay off on just so much fan stuff, like, yeah, I'm here for that. Returning to Raccoon City, all of that is like the type of stuff that really gets me going. But it's the gray stuff to me that really puts this as my okay, this is game of the year contender for me. Where it is true modern survival horror. Like this is. It is scary as hell. It is the type of game that if we're doing a grown sleepover little slumber party, you know what I mean, with people be like, let's put this on. Let's play the gray section. Just because it's that group scare mentality. Like it's so good. And then also the locations of the. The Care center, among others, but specifically the Care Center. I'm just so blown away by like I never thought I would get a Resident Evil location that lives up to Spencer Mansion or the police department, but they definitely pulled it off here. And so shout out to Capcom. They'll probably have multiple games on my top 10 at the end of the year. But Resident Evil 9 right now is the one to beat for me.
Mike
Yeah, follow that up because Resident Evil 9 for me, it's number one on my list.
Greg Miller
Wow, I didn't see that coming.
Mike
I loved Resident Evil 9. I echo everything that Tim says. But I think they nailed that dual story, right? Being able to jump between the power fantasy of Leon with all the fun one liners, those epic moments of him grabbing the chainsaw, getting chased by a chainsaw. Like you'll never forget that in the Doctor's office. So much fun. And then being Grace and feeling like, man, this is true fear. And they even kept up the fear factor late into the game, which I always harp on. Right. There's that moment in a lot of these Resident Evil games where it's like, that's the peak that we could go to. And then it's just down from there. They found a way to bring that back up in the second half and I really loved that.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Right.
Mike
The level design. We touch on Capcom and that Resident Evil team masters that level design. Figuring your way through the maze, unlocking new routes, going, oh, wow, this is exciting. Going back to old places and in Raccoon City that like, you're like, oh, we're going back here. And it's feeling just like it did in Resident Evil 2 and the remake. It's like, oh, this is awesome stuff. And so, yeah, Resident Evil 9 for me is number one. It will be very hard to beat. And I'm excited to see what other games capture me like that.
Greg Miller
That's great. I mean, we love Resident Evil 9. I did not expect that from you, especially off the 10 out of 10 from Forza yesterday. So I'm excited to hear about that, I'm sure. But yeah, like, for me, Resident Evil 9 is on. Is a contender like that. That's one of those games I know will be in my top 10. If I was a betting man, I would bet in the. The higher numbers, the five to ten, somewhere in there. Not because I didn't love the shit out of it. We had a great time here talking about it. I enjoyed it. Switch to version was so good. But yeah, it's like I'm. I knew that from you. I'm still shocked. I'm floored, Andy, by Mike over here. You can't put Mike in a box.
Bless Andy
Well, guess where it's on for me, Number two, Greg. Like, what do you mean? Yeah,
Greg Miller
You gotta be like, I'm sorry, Andy. It's number two for you.
Bless Andy
Number two. Thanks for. Thanks for doing the show.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Good.
Bless Andy
It's crazy.
Greg Miller
I'm already floored. Once again. You can't be Florida on the floor.
Bless Andy
Yeah, dude. I mean, I think Resident Evil 9 Requiem is. It's one of those that as. As Tim mentioning playing those. Those nostalgic strings. Right. There's a way to not do it. Well, yeah. In the same way that mixtape being this nostalgic sort of trip down, you can do that and not execute well. Like you could try to go back and just make players go and do the. The Member berries thing and say, remember all these old things that you did back when you were a kid? And it could come across as really cheesy or really forced or cliche or just not good.
Greg Miller
Good.
Bless Andy
This game managed to avoid all of that. For me as somebody who doesn't even with Resident Evil in that way that still has played enough of it to know why those things matter and enjoying the out of the out of the journey with me and bless and like popping off at certain super hype moments with awesome reveals and crazy cameos and holy. Like this. This game blew me away. This is my favorite Resident Evil game ever. I had an awesome time with this one. And yeah, I'm shocked that it is. It was that high for me by the end of the journey that it. I feel like it just was so consistent throughout. I never felt the massive dips that I felt with other Resident Evil games where I kind of start to lose. Start to lose me a little bit. I think this game is like the most consistent throughout.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I. I love Resident Evil. I have for a long time. But whenever the most recent games have come out and the we know DLC is coming, right, like they. The modern games been doing DLC for and I'm never excited for it and I'm always like, by the time it comes, I might get around to it, I might not. Like, I haven't done all of the. The. The eight DLCs. I think I did all of the seven ones, but I'm never like looking forward to it playing. I can't wait for whatever they have for re9. Like not the Leon, but like the actual story stuff. Like I. That. That's a day one for me that is like priority. And I think that's because of how much I loved nine and the direction they took it with the two different characters and in terms of like the. The set pieces and stuff. Like I keep thinking about the skyscraper with the. The glass, you know, and I'm like, that's just such a cool thing that I haven't experienced in a video game before. And it's so. I just really shout out to Capcom for bringing it all together in a way that is. Made it better than just the parts, but also pushing it forward in very, very interesting ways from an action and horse perspective.
Greg Miller
Oh yeah. I need to know though, Andy, what's your number one?
Bless Andy
Soros.
Greg Miller
Ah, okay.
Bless Andy
I. Sorrows is just so solid throughout and I enjoyed all of my time with it.
Greg Miller
Is this because the main character looks so much like you?
Bless Andy
Yeah, yeah. I mean that a Bit of it. A bit of it, yeah. A little bit shorter than me, but still I do. I just really enjoyed the mystery throughout. And this, when it comes down to it, this has like two to three of my favorite boss fights ever. And it is just, it is the, it is art direction. The video game, like it is just so stunning to explore and, and every new area you're going to has something really awesome visually about it. But I just love the gameplay of it. It is, you know, housemark. Even more refined than they were with Returnal in my opinion. And yeah, man, it's just, it's such a solid experience. It's so fun throughout and I loved challenging myself and you know, trying to get the true ending and all that stuff. This game, Soros, is a must play in my opinion. It needs to be played by anybody who has a PlayStation. It rocks.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, I'm loving it. I'm still very early in it. I haven't had too many hours to like sit and play and I think that's really to the detriment of my experience because just kind of playing for an hour here, two hours there. I really feel like I need a weekend with this game to lock in and then kind of keep following up night after night to check it out because I feel like I. I'm getting out of the rhythm. Too much of it, but beautiful. So amazing when it uses the, the dual sense. I, I love that Housemark is like the kind of golden standard when it comes to like making that thing fucking rip. And yeah, it just feels so damn good to play and like the. I just got to the first boss and it's like, this is cool as hell. I love the systems of the shooting and all that. Like third person shooters like this aren't my preferred way to play these type of games. Like I'm way more of the Hades style, you know what I mean? But I, I'm loving it. Can't wait to keep playing.
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Where do we want to go from here, Greg? Let's give this View Talk bit.
Greg Miller
I mean, I think mine's pretty obvious. Starfield Terror. I'm kidding. But for real, Skate season three. I'm kidding. It's. It's so here. I put two to the floor right now. If I had a vote and cast it right now. Mixtape. Of course we are still in the afterglow of mixtape. And when I mean in the afterglow, I mean every day I think about, should I just play mixtape right now? Should I do it again? The fact that I am still Listening to the soundtrack in my car every day.
Mike
He's singing it. When it comes to the work.
Andy Cortez
Yes.
Greg Miller
Today's hero, you know what I mean? Like when I sing it, I see it like, you know, it's one of those kind of games of like I. The song hits and I think it's Stacey Rockford and I think of what they were up to and I think a little Rockford and I fucking like. I love mixtape and it's one of those games that really, really, really, really touched me. But of course when we're talking about game of the year, I start to get in my head about what I'm doing and what I'm saying. And so right now I would do it, you know, 10 out of 10, yada yada yada. We love mixtape so much here. But then there's that conversation that I feel like I have had before at IG and a million times when I'd come out swinging in stumping for the walking dead, of course, where it's like ok, cool, these are great games. I'm not, this isn't the argument. I'm not doing the CHUD argument of is it a game or is it a fucking interactive movie? It's that idea though of like Watto like subscribe, share. There's too many white women in games is what I'm saying. What's the game for the boys? God, Watto would be a Great Grifter on YouTube. That should be a show start where I just parody everybody.
Mike
Vtube you and his wa.
Greg Miller
This and this and this journalist these mix packages, they get a 10 out of 10 mix the water.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I had to explain Greg Miller's water to somebody recently and like I was like, yeah, know he's waddo but like he's in a Jedi robe. Like there's something that's just really how
Greg Miller
you put a big man in his mo. Anyways, it is the idea of how much I love mixtape and what a masterpiece of an experience that is, but I do then at all times have it knocking on the door there. Pokemon Pickopia. A game that is such a game, you know what I mean? Of like what do you want to do with the hours you're sinking in tonight? Do you want to go out and make the biomes? Do you want to go out and just craft your world? Do you want like to stack them up and like talk about hey, here's a three hour tight experience, right, that I can give to anybody and say hey, go do this whatever and enjoy this. And then here's Pokemon Book Opia, a game that will take over your life if you let it. I'm not even sure if Joey stopped playing. You know what I mean, in terms of what you can do and how much you can go get in all the things. And again, you know, we talk about, like, mixtape I saw go through. You know that mixtape is Greg bait. Of course it is. Right. But to Pokemon Pocopia, the Minecraft Dragon Quest Builders, whatever clone, you want to throw it out to get to the end of that and cry like I cried at a Pokemon Pocopia game at the kitchen table in the office. Because the ending touched me as well. So much like, I think as we get some distance from mixtape and I settle into what we're doing and we get there, I wouldn't be shocked again if we were casting ballots in a month that I would say, okay, Pokemon Pocopia might with the amount of gameplay, the amount of hours and the amount of things I did in it resonate more in terms of what I think game of the year is and what defined my 2026. But I think a big part of that will be do I come back at some point to Pokemon Popia. Reviewed it, loved it. But then go look at your Gamescast feed and you see us all rolling to the next review. The next review. And there's so many things that have happened that I haven't doubled back. You know, some people ask me what's
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
going on in Pocopo, keeping up with the event.
Greg Miller
What did you see us do it last on a stream? Because that was last year I played it. And that's not because I. I'd love to still be playing. I would love to have that amount of time. But those hundreds of hours I don't have, they go to Starfield. And so that's where you have to get in the skate. You know what I mean? That Nike event wrapped up on ROM Island. It was sad to see it go. Now we got this creator event.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
I love that you're teasing. Season four having more lighting. Come on, guys.
Mike
Because I have it as number three on my list.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Mike
Oh, yeah. I mean, as you guys know, with me and Andy, I love survival crafting games. Right. In the mix of adding Pokemon to that. Right. You heard me sing the praises of Pal World. And the dream of an idea of Pokemon game like this and having the systems in place, the crafting, the fun of, like Pokemon in this cute, just whimsical world was really special to me. I find myself continuing to better my Starting area, trying to add new houses. Who are the housemates that I want to put in each house? And giggle and laugh. Right. Like, they nailed Pocopia and I was a big doubter heading into this of like, there's no way it could be this good. And it exceeded expectations. This is a fantastic game. I cannot believe it's this good as it is. So, yeah, for me it's number three. I love this game.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Bless Andy
I haven't fallen off of a game harder than this game. Yeah, I really thought there's no way this won't be a top three for me because I love survival crafting games and I think some of it has to do with the fact that it is on Switch and I love survival crafting games with keyboard mouse and that's how I love doing building and things like that. And I, I did fall off of it pretty quickly. But mixtape is one that. It will definitely be in my top 10, probably in the lower half by the end of the year. But I always, when I, when I'm kind of making my top 10, I try to have one or two games that aren't the most typical type of like, of course Andy would have that in his top 10. And usually every year there's a game like Ghost Runner or, you know, one of these games that is, you know, a bit less conventional. But I think mixtape will easily be in my top 10 because again, like I mentioned with Resident Evil Requiem, it, you know, them saying it's. It's Greg bait of a game or whatever. I. It's not generally a game that I would gravitate towards, but when it's executed that well, it, you know, they could have dropped the ball. They could have put out mixtape and it not be a super fun experience with these characters that I really grew to care and love. They could have put out a game with bad writing. Like we've seen a lot of these games get released that maybe try to pull at your nostalgic heartstrings and then you play and you go, ah. It's just. It's just not doing a whole lot for me. Missed the mark. This didn't miss the mark. It. It hit in every way it needed to. For me, as somebody who I knew one or two of those 20 songs or whatever, it was like this wasn't me like only falling in love with the soundtrack. I didn't. I knew one or two of them that I had heard a couple times. The. The soundtrack isn't like, you know, it's not like it's playing Backstreet Boys or, you know, Boys to Men or some. It was a bunch of songs I'd never heard of. So it wasn't that. That GRA that pulled me towards it. It was just the heartwarming story with these characters that are so, like, I. I think lovingly written. They're so funny and quirky and witty and. And I really enjoyed the. The, you know, the story and the dialogue there.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, Mixtape obviously is high on my list. I. I don't know, I only wanted to be like, is there anything that I. I. Right now is my number one where res goes. But I don't know where mixtape would fall. It's been a. A very, very great year for me. Like, oh yeah. When I look at the games and like, I look at some of the games on my list, Screamer, Pragmata replaced mixtape RE9. I'm like, I don't really know how I order them and I think that's kind of cool. Like. And plus, so many more to come. But yeah, mixtape is incredibly special. It's the type of game that I'm going to recommend to people for the rest of my life. It is so damn good. So special and just like Greg, I keep listening to the music, I keep looking for excuses to replay chapters and yeah, geez. Best friend is coming up from la. She. I told the story on the review, but she is a music supervisor and her husband plays drums. Like he played drums on the. The Boys, the Amazon show season one and two. And like, he's a professional drummer. So like, they're super into music and he loves video games. She doesn't really. I'm like, y' all are going to be obsessed with this. They booted it up and they're obsessed with it and they're coming over this weekend, so I think we might play together, but very excited for that.
Greg Miller
You said something interesting there, that it's been a really great year for you for games. I want to know from the chat, you know, obviously, if you want to. Super chat, great. But if you want to just shout out anything. Has it been a good year for you? Like, I feel. I feel like it's been a. I. I think this year is just bang, banger, banger. For games. For games. Has it been a good year for you? Because I feel like I saw some comment of in an article I was reading the other day and it might have been a Forza review, might have been a mixtape review, but they were like after a slow start and I was like, really? Like, I feel like it's just been game after game after game and like when we look through and talk about these lists and stuff like for me like on things that are in contention but I need to actually finish. Right. Replaced. I'm enjoying so much but I'm still Chapter four Forza. I didn't expect to. And then really connected with it. Enjoyed my, you know, two nights with it. It's like I need to get back to these things, let alone get into pragmata. Let alone like there's so many things that are. I need to catch up on in the backlog just for this year let alone than what's coming.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
This is just. There's so much like I. I feel like there's.
Mike
I mean I.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
It's silly to say like there's not like incredible bangers. I don't think that there's been any unanimous. Everybody agrees this is the game of the year. Like not everybody but like I know you mean, you know the Elden Rings and Tears of the Kingdoms and things like that. Like we haven't had that. But I think we're getting a ton of seven to nine. Right. Like and I don't think like all these games, like especially Mike's list. It's like not all of them are for all of us. I. I'm very interested in what kind of funny Game of the year is
Jordan Midler
going to look like.
Mike
I mean, yeah, we're talking about Mugenic Slay the Spire two replaced Marathon Vampire Crawlers. Kill Him. That came out and just was so much fun. Right. That not many people will even play or give a chance to. Right. And so yeah, I have a list of 15 games we go through. But Mugenics is a highlight that at the beginning of the year did sweep a lot of people off at the feet. Right. I think when you talk about the big Bangers, it's Resident Evil and it's Popcopia of like if you asked everybody, the standard would probably be those two rising to the top. But Eugenics Slay the Spire 2 coming out in early access, being a banger. I apologize past Mike for never putting you on to Slay the Spire one. We should have been all over that with how much I love Magic the Gathering and card games, deck builders. Especially after Andy put us all onto inscription. Thank you for that and that change. Like honestly, slay the Spire 2 is amazing. You should be all over this game.
Bless Andy
So good.
Mike
Awesome. But Marathon gets a lot of hate, a lot of especially coming off of High Guard. But at the end of the day, Marathon is A very good extraction shooter. Bungie has their hands all over that. And it's like if you like a Bungee product, you're going to like marathon. I know extraction shooters aren't for everyone and they are punishing and super difficult. But like, when you get into it and you find the flow with your crew or just solo, that game is awesome and it's really, really well done. We talked about Forza yesterday. Forza is my number two right now, Tim. 10 out of 10 game. That game is going to rise to the top.
Bless Andy
Right?
Mike
Where will we be in January? God, I hope everybody remembers this game. I hope everybody gives it a try. I don't know if it will make it to our top 10. But like Forza.
Bless Andy
Oh, Forza's, I think, sure bet sports
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
is making our top 10.
Mike
We will see. We'll see.
Unidentified Guest
Forza Horizon 5 made our top 10.
Mike
It made it like. Yeah, we'll see. I. I hope that everybody remembers that one because it's a banger year is what I'm getting at. We're gonna have even more games and I think games like that in the middle. Mike, I pushed.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I think that that's why Forza is. I think a slam dunk for our list is I don't think there's that many games that all of us agree on being in the top 10. I think that this year already is more spread out than other years normally are. So I feel like by the end of the year where Andy has sorrows versus where someone else that has source on the list might be very different.
Bless Andy
You know, Fortunes is the top five for me. Like I. I have loved the mics
Greg Miller
by the end of the year. You think?
Mike
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Thinking of gta, Wolverine, First Light, Fable.
Bless Andy
I think so. Well, I mean Fables like the. If I. If Phantom Blade Zero. If I could wave the magical game development one and make it like. And make a game be my game of the year. I want Fable to be the best. I want that experience to be the coolest video gaming like fantasy role playing experience ever. That's the one that I'm hoping the most for. Not that it's like. Not that I am like expecting the most. I don't want to say that like this game needs to be the best game ever.
Greg Miller
I want it and there is that potential.
Mike
Yes.
Greg Miller
You see it and it's like, can you capitalize on. Can you live up to the hype?
Bless Andy
I would like I would be the most happiest gamer ever if Fable could be my game of the year because I know that it would deliver on everything that I would want it to for fantasy. But yeah, I think. I think by the end of the year Forza still be top five. Yeah, because control somebody shots that shit. Oh God damn. Maybe not silksong DLC as well. Ah, fuck me. God damn dust Bloods.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Forza I think is it's going to be in my 10, it won't be my five. Where will it be on your list, do you think? Let us know in the comments below. And everyone else, here's some ads. Damn. Andy. Hey, Pragmata.
Bless Andy
Pragmata. You get to play a data. It's true, Daddy.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Where you think it ends up on your list at the end.
Bless Andy
Damn. Well, I mean, I would have said top 10 right now easily. Right? But when Greg, you know, sort of rolls off control resonant and Wolverine and Fable, hopefully it still makes a top 10 because I really enjoyed my time with it. I. I just enjoyed the. The shooting mechanics so much. And I loved doing the. The score chasing with all the challenges and trying to, you know, be really completionist about it in a way that I didn't really expect. And for a game that I felt was really overly cheesy and kind of like not great near the beginning, man, I warmed up to it like crazy and I just was not expecting it. And I still felt the hater in me try to talk at certain moments. And I still would because everywhere, because, you know, you can't. You leave Hugh up to his own devices, he's still going to hit you with a. Well, that's a great. That's a great thing right there. And It's. He's just, like, so odd, but, man, it'll. It'll. It'll hit you in the feels, man. And it. I think it's. This is going to, you know, come off as, you know, everybody's going to roast me for this. But I think it's one of the strongest endings, narratively of the year. And it reminds me. It reminds me, Greg, of my time with Dragon Age Veil Guard.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Bless Andy
A game that I was like, man, it's about a seven. You know, I'm having a lot of fun with it, but story's not doing a whole lot for me. And then the characters start really resonating with you. And then by the end of it, the finale was so damn strong, I was like, okay, they really crushed this. Pragmata really crushed the ending for me. And I just was not expecting them to kind of knock it out of the park where. Because a lot of the time I was like, ah, that's the line you went with. Why did you go with that? Yeah, but I. I think it's a. I think it's a super awesome game that I'm stoked to see Capcom having success with, because I would love to get a sequel for it.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, man, that sequel is going to be so good. Mat is definitely going to be on my top 10. I really loved it. And you see so much potential in the gameplay. And if they were to expand it, I think that they. They would knock it out of the park, and I expect they will, based on how well this is doing.
Bless Andy
Resonate even stronger, like, as a father for, you know.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's why everyone else doesn't like it. Yeah, look at all of us. We're all dads now.
Bless Andy
You'll like it, Mike.
Mike
I got two. I got two kids.
Bless Andy
I love it. Yeah, love them.
Mike
Number one on my. I would like to get to. To play. I have four big ones right now. It goes Pragmata, it goes Mouse, PI for Hire, which I've dipped my toes into. It goes Crimson Desert and then Sorrows, Right? And they all, at any moment could be like, I really want to play this right now. And then the next day, it could be like, that one's number four. And I'll get to listen. So those are my four. Like, man, I got to make time and get to that. But it's tough, right? There's so many. I got 20 games already that I had to cut those off of.
Greg Miller
So, yeah, for me, Pragmat is number one on the next thing you know what I mean, it sits there on the rog. I see it, I see it on the razor blade six. Like, it's ready to go. It's just. I need that multiple day. Okay. I'm not moving to a review the next night. I'm not moving on to this thing over there.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I'm really interested in 2026. Greg Miller's take on Pragmatic. I don't know. I have no idea from a game
Greg Miller
player, story wise, both.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I mean, just.
Greg Miller
I know I like from what I mean.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Like, do you like it enough to beat it? You know what I mean? Is it actually gonna be something that you finish? Like, I don't know.
Bless Andy
Like, I think it's short enough. Like, I, I think it is a pretty condensed experience and it's. It, it has momentum and it's so gamified to where, like, it, it doesn't try to hide. It's how the game is built out. It doesn't try to hide its game design.
Mike
Okay.
Bless Andy
Where whenever you go back to your little, you know, hub base area that you've been building out slowly and you can open up where you want to go next and you go, oh, I didn't get the red room in that space that's only 80% complete. They are just straight up like, no, this is still a video game. So go have fun and do video game things and unlock more things to enjoy the game more. But I think it's like a really condensed, super like efficient experience. Yeah. Mike bringing up games that he wants to get to before the end of the year. One game that I aside from Crimson Desert because I love all the work that they've been putting into it and, you know, not only them, but the community when it comes to mobs and things like that. And so that's a game I do want to get back to. But Esoteric Ebb is a game that is like Disco Elysium. It's very crpg. They call it like a Disco Elysium. Like, and everybody's like, okay, but it's like a crpg. Like Disco Elysium wasn't for us to do that. But it's a fantasy type game that really intrigued me when I booted it up. I played about maybe the first hour or so and it looks nothing like. It looks more like. It's just like top down. But it's so interesting the way it is structured in that all of the stats that you're used to, you know, strength, dexterity, intelligence, all those things based on how you build out your character. They are all characters inside of your own mind. And so you may come across an npc. And up next is strength. And strength will be like, you should beat this dude's ass, man. And then intelligence will be like, ugh, I don't know if we can. I. I think we could beat their ass. And then whatever the next stat might like. All of these like stats are all their own characters and they act that way based on how your character is built out. It is so smart. And I totally understand why this game came out and was very under the radar. I didn't like. I don't think it sold a whole bunch or anything, but everybody who played it was like, holy. This is a really awesome CRPG experience. And it's not long. Apparently it's about 23 to 25 hours, which I was worried about as we're trying to get to games for our top 100. I was like, Disco Lesy Mysterion, right? Amia. But I know that's like a 40 to 50 hour experience. This is not quite that. But it's just really creative and smart the way it's sort of designed.
Greg Miller
Are you interested at all for in zero praise for Dead Spies? I know that's imminent right now and I know a lot of people are looking at that.
Bless Andy
Of course, being from Zaum, I would say not initially. I mean, I love the art style, but I also look at that game and go, okay, but like the main team who basically made Disco Leagues was not really there anymore just because of all the turmoil they went through. I was just more immediately intrigued by the art style and the dialogue of. Yeah, I was. It's really smartly written.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Okay, I want to talk about Screamer. Very high in my list. Another one that I. There's so many of these games that when I'm talking about them, I'm like, it's number two on my list. You know what I mean?
Mike
I don't know.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I don't know where they go. But Screamer is so damn good. It is arcade racing at its best. There's never been a racer quite like it in terms of how it controls. Left stick is steering, right stick is drifting. And it's all wrapped in the most anime story of all time. It's dope as shit. Love the characters, the voice acting is incredible. Troy Baker as the bad guy, Alex Lee as the main character, or at least one of the main characters. And one of my favorite things about it is it's this like world event where every team is from a different place in the world and they speak in their native language and it just adds so much to the experience and just the overall style of it all. And the story's awesome. And I was like actually engaged with wanting to know what's going on. There's such a great system where when you play through the games, there's like main chapters and then in between the main chapters. Each of the different groups has its own storyline that you can follow, but it's all optional. And each beat is just a different race that gets more character dynamics between two of the characters or romance things that are happening. And it's just so unique. And this is another one like pragmata that like, damn, for how good this was. I hope we get a sequel because I think that they can just tighten things up with just a little bit more time, a little bit more budget.
Greg Miller
Sure.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
And this could be like a big mainstream hit. This one I think obviously find a little flying a little bit under the radar, but it's hidden, it's connecting with the people that are playing it.
Greg Miller
And it, I think by the end of the year this is in your top five.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
It's in my top ten for sure. I, I, I can see it there, I can see it there. But again, there's just a lot of splitting it around because we have mixtape and then we also have replaced and I love replace so much.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
But mixtape and replaced are two things for me where I'm like, they are, it's so story based. I love those games more for the story than for the gameplay. Where do I value all that stuff? When I'm talking about Game of the Year year, I think it's a tougher conversation that's come from somebody who. Artful Escape was my number one the year that Ratchet and Clank came out. But we'll have to see how it all shakes out. But yeah, replaced since it's up here now. I know it was on a couple of our at least potential lists here, but it's very, very high for me. I, I feel that the, the story was a tough one to, to do. Right. Because we've seen this type of story so many times and they pulled it off flawlessly. By the end of it, I'm like, damn, I can't believe that I got a cyberpunk AI story that was actually interesting.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Because it just feels so trite. But they, they really, really nailed it. Obviously the visual style, this is amazing. And it just being a slow burn the entire time, gameplay wise, I'm obsessed with this one.
Greg Miller
Yeah. A game I've been waiting for forever. And I think the fact that I haven't rolled credits on to me at least speaks to how much I'm enjoying it. And what I mean is that it needs my full, undivided, energized attention. When I get to the end of the day and I'm zonked out from chasing this puppy and a kid and all you idiots, I. You know, that's when I'm turning on Forza and I'm just smashing into billboards and I'm not having to read or not having to pay attention or remember what's happening. I'm browning out, nodding off on the couch, playing like I need replaced to have that quality time.
Mike
Yeah. I currently have replaced in my top 10. I really enjoyed that experience. I think it's a solid, good game and I'm really happy that I played through it and got to have that conversation with you, Tim. Right. I mean, I don't know if it will finish in my top 10, but as of right now, it is definitely in the top 10.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
And yes. Are you reacting to it? Do you think you're going to get back to finish?
Bless Andy
Oh, I absolutely will. Yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Awesome.
Bless Andy
This is not one that I'm like, I'll try to get to it now. This is like, I will absolutely play replaced destination. Especially knowing that everybody is really vibing with the story.
Mike
Yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Really cool stuff. One thing I'm kind of surprised about a little bit is the lack of tomodachi life.
Greg Miller
Oh, really?
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah. I don't know. I missed. I missed the conversation. I think that was like, right at the tail end.
Greg Miller
Oh, review. I think I gave it a 7.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
5. Okay.
Greg Miller
It's like, it's. It's a cute little distraction. It's. What do I call it? A mile wide inch deep. You know what I mean? Like tomodachi. Tomodachi life has a whole bunch of really cool shit going on it and fun stuff. But it's as I called it, a parlor trick. And once you see how the magician does it, you're like, okay, well, I could keep making people and I could keep making them become friends and do this, but I know what's going to happen with it. I know how it's going to go.
Bless Andy
Yeah. Once I. But I played about six hours of this game and I really have fun with the character creator. And it is. There's just so much fun and creativity to be had with it. But what. But in those six or seven hours, I already saw a repeat cutscene.
Greg Miller
Exactly.
Bless Andy
Like maybe once or twice. And I was like, oh man. Like, yeah. You know, Greg had mentioned that during the review that there are going to be some pretty quick repeats that you start to see. And that that kind of bums me out because I. I do wish that this game had just a lot more variety in those moments. And maybe it's just bad luck on my part by not knowing. Okay, gotcha.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Bless Andy
Yeah, I was. I was pretty bummed out by that. It did seem like, hey, you've seen what we have to offer here and. And I kind of wish that. That it's one of the. That it was one of those games similar to stick with me. Hades 2 When you're 100 hours in going, man, I'm still getting new dialogue. Yeah, I was hoping this would be one that 20 hours in. I mean I'm getting all these. Still getting new things and new little experiences.
Greg Miller
How it goes.
Bless Andy
Yeah, yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
When we were just talking about replace, it made me think about something like with this list in the question of like how good of a year this has been for me, I feel like we might not have had so many top six game of the year nominee contenders, but we've had so many games that I'm like, I can't wait to nominate this for this category or that category, whatever. Like, there's just so much amazing stuff here. But they might not necessarily be that top six, you know.
Greg Miller
Sure. Lots of smileys out there for you.
Bless Andy
Oh God, yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Oh, for sure.
Bless Andy
Tyros, art direction. I will. I will fight people if that does not. If that. It does not end up on like a. Even like Keely's game. Oh my God. I'll be so pissed off, Tim.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I feel like it has to.
Bless Andy
This will. This will be Final Fantasy 16 not nominated for Game of the Year. Mainly because we just want to hear the soundtrack.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, we got a bunch of super chats. Some of them are good, some of them will freedom see mellow fellow says, ladies and gentlemen, who cares if it's early access? Slay the Spire to suck the easiest near hundred hours out of my life. How many hours you win, Mike?
Mike
Probably about 30. Yeah, I mean, I find myself continuing to bang my head against the wall trying to complete my first ever run. I've now unlocking characters and trying new builds, but it is addicting. It is so much fun. I cannot believe I never played Slay the Spire one. Every time I think of Slayer Spider one, I imagine risk of rain gameplay. That's what I thought Slay the Spire was. But now that I'm fully into it. It was like when we got put on the monster train to me and blessing thanks to Greg and it's like, oh, these games are so me and it's perfect. I get in bed, I've had a long day. I grabbed that Xbox Rog Ally I lay and I just play this game and I just. I always lose and I just smile. I go, you're going to get it, Mike.
Bless Andy
Yeah.
Mike
And so it's a blast. This a must play game if you like car deck building, Rogue lights. Yeah.
Bless Andy
It says I'm at 72 hours. That's no way. That's not true. It's got to be like 30 or 40 or something. But I'm. I love this video game.
Greg Miller
I time just flew by.
Bless Andy
It's weird that I haven't really. I guess it's so. It's been such a consistent experience for me that I haven't really given it the flowers that it deserves. But it's also. It's slay the spire and it, it. It's gotten plenty of flowers from everybody else. But it's an awesome one for sure.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Gondor's Condor says if anything, Mouse PI has been my game of the year. Many major launches are not quite my thing like Resident Evil and Pecopia. Others I haven't got the chance yet. Like Soros and Mixtape.
Greg Miller
Hell yeah. Mouse PI for hire again. A game I enjoyed like you know the review obviously wasn't this is a 9 but it is the idea that we're talking about right? Of like that's 7 to 9. There's so many games this year that I can really get in there and fill and scratch that itch.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah. Stick sticks animation says Birthday tax. Happy birthday. Spending my birthday making cartoons and watching kind of funny. Bopopia is my game of the year with Re 9 close second. But I can't wait to start mixtape. Love you guys. Love you co op64. We have to get on the show by the way. We have to figure that out. I don't know what that looks like but yeah, we got to do it. Requiem Forza Horizon 6 and Mixtape. What a year. I agree. Bam says with Andy Bless and Mike playing retro not released this year. Games. What's Yalls? Retro video game that y' all play this year for each of you. I mean I replay old games all the time. Ironically, a game that I play every year is Star Fox 64.
Greg Miller
Ah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
This might be the first year I don't. You know. Yeah Mike, I know you're on Terror now. Is Twilight Princess next?
Mike
Uh, yeah, Twilight Princess will be next. I have a top five already of old games this year. Fire Emblem. Of course. I rounded out the holiday break into January with I played Tekken 8 campaign which stunned me. That was so amazing. As someone who likes fighting games, not big into it. I've played all the Mortal Kombat, all the injustice campaigns and they're always a blast to go on to something that is a Tekken, maybe a Street Fighter one day. But like be wowed this much by Tekken or what a great time. I loved that. Of course the three big Zeldas, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask and Wind Waker have been an incredible experience for me and they'll be high on my just list of games that I love and enjoy. You know, I, I can't wait. I'm, I don't know, 40 through wind waker right now and having the time of my life. This game rocks.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Holy cow. Loyal Freak says Prank Matt is probably my game of the year so far. It just nudged Re 9 out of that top spot. But oh boy, does lego Batman and 007 look good. And if Wolverine hits like I expected to, it could easily be my game of the year. Such a great year for games. Blarkey says no one's played their game of the year. It's GTA 6. Kebab says who? Of the Game of the Year panel will not have GTA 6 at number one. I don't think many of us are going to have it at number one.
Mike
Maybe I'm a Mike and Roger guy, so I'll. I would say if this hits like it's supposed to, it'll probably be number one for me. It is interesting because I, I didn't love GTA 5's campaign. I didn't like the three protagonists. So like if we were to rewind time, I might be high on GTA 5, but maybe there is a game that's over that and so we'll see what happens. But I'm a rock star guy. Like I think.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, you know what, I take it back. I do think there's the potential of Bless Mike, Rog and maybe someone else, but that's. That's a pretty good sizable chunk of
Greg Miller
I could do it. I love gca, right? And this actually leads to an interesting question. That was almost today's Greg Way, but I'm going to promote to a gamescast. I think I've been on the schedule for like SGF week, but we could always move it up But Nova wrote in on patreon.com kindafunny just like you can when you create a free account, and said hey Greg, at the risk of sounding like a hater, what's the appeal of gta? It's become one of those ubiquitous things in gaming and nobody really talks about what makes GTA such a juggernaut, other than it sold more copies than human beings on the planet, cost more than grains of sand on the beach to be developed, and has made more money than atoms in the universe. What is the game that warrants all of this? I'd love to hear it from you, but more than that, I would really like to hear it as a panel on the Gamescast, so don't talk now. But I loved that question enough and I was like that's a great suggestion. So I tossed it up for SGF week. But maybe it gets promoted before then.
Mike
Cool.
Bless Andy
I I do think it's there's a discussion to be had about early Access games that will be hitting 1.0 this year. One in particular a game that I've been playing for a couple of years now that will finally hit 1.0 this year called Witchfire, which is a first person shooter roguelite single player experience. It is freaking gorgeous looking. It is. So the amount of like weapon variety that there is, the amount of awesome like boss fights and these weird sort of emergent gameplay moments that and, and secrets. It's very like the way the world is built out is very kind of like soulsy in that you can walk into the area and if you have that medallion now that opens up this new thing that you didn't really know but you would have known if you talked to that NPC who mentioned it or whatever. I I it's so impressive and so much fun and has been fun for the last like year and a half to two years but it's finally hitting 1.0 this year and this is one that I that for anybody who's into first person shooters or roguelites, this game is going to be a huge hit I think for for the development team. I'm blanking on who works on this, but they worked on Painkiller back in the day I believe. But it's awesome. It's so much fun.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Ben R. Says Titanium Court's my game of the year but a lot of contenders Mio Karn, Slay the Spire 2 still need to play mixtape don't sleep on awesome indies God Tim missed the
Bless Andy
whole Karen sort of Karen, Karen,
Greg Miller
Karen, Karen.
Bless Andy
Like I would say like, because here's the thing, Mike and Greg had misspelled it Karen.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Bless Andy
And then so Greg was saying Karen, and I was like, no, it's pronounced Karen. And they're like, andy, you're also saying Karen. I'm like, no, I'm saying Karen.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Y' all are tripping.
Bless Andy
There's a whole thing.
Mike
Yeah. And that's how bad a couple of times.
Unidentified Guest
You did actually say Karen, though.
Bless Andy
I did not. No, I said Karen.
Greg Miller
Karen.
Unidentified Guest
Anyways, Titanium Core. Also my game of the year still.
Greg Miller
Oh, yeah.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Oh, my God. My freaking computer.
Greg Miller
No, got a freaking computer, y'.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
All.
Bless Andy
Now, here's the thing, Mike.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yep.
Mike
Are you ready to finally admit it?
Bless Andy
There's a lot.
Mike
I wasn't afraid to put it on my list already.
Bless Andy
There's a lot of rumors out there. There's a lot of rumors about Valve getting a bunch of consoles being shipped to Valve, them getting shipments of consoles. We don't know what they are, though, Mike, but we know what they are. If the Steam Machine drops this year, is it a day and date launch for deadlock 1.0? Come on, dog. It has to bear.
Mike
What year did I put Deadlock as my number one?
Bless Andy
2024, I think.
Mike
Wasn't afraid to put it up there. I'm still waiting on you.
Bless Andy
You're ahead of the curve. You're a trailblazer.
Unidentified Guest
I was really crossing my fingers. I remember that year because I knew it was going to be on your list. I was like, please, no one else vote for it.
Greg Miller
Because there were no.
Unidentified Guest
There were no official assets for that
Bless Andy
game for me to build a thing for the wall.
Mike
Game is good.
Greg Miller
Game is good, everybody.
Mike
Good, y'.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
All.
Bless Andy
I mean, if.
Mike
Get ready.
Bless Andy
If this is the year, oh, my gosh, I'll be so excited. And maybe it drops day and day with Half Life 3 as well, guys.
Greg Miller
Wow.
Bless Andy
What do you think?
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
What do you think?
Greg Miller
That's what I predicted with my fantasy critic, so I better.
Bless Andy
Damn.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Tricky Kappa says mine might be Tomodachi Life. It's got me drawing and being creative again in a way I didn't expect, which feels needed as I navigate a layoff of that.
Bless Andy
I love that, but I don't love that, But I. I totally agree. I think it's, like, such an awesome playground for creativity.
Greg Miller
That's the thing about it, right? It's as much as you want to put into tomodachi, if you want to sit there and create like you saw the cat run by and make the shirts and do the thing and, you know, really craft the Stuff for your characters to interact with.
Bless Andy
Another one that I have that I specifically put on my Fantasy Critic team many, many months ago is a game from the devs that made Ghostrunner called Valor Mortis. Valor Mortis is a first person souls. Like got some shooting, shooting elements, got some melee, got a Perry takes place in like the Napoleonic era, but everybody's like zombies and, and monsters and. And they put out a recent kind of like gameplay video for it about a month or two ago for. I'm blanking on the actual showcase. I think it's like the new Game plus showcase or it's one of those game show I think. Okay. And holy cow man. I mean I played the demo for this and I played the preview of it as well before they put out the demo. It was, it played phenomenally. It looks awesome. It's fun, it's freaky as shit. The enemies are gross and weird, kind of like bloodborne looking things. But it, it played exactly how you would want a first person souls game to play. It's awesome. And this is one that I hope really, really hits. Because I loved Ghost Runner then Ghost Runner 2 was not made by the same team.
Mike
How close to Remnant of the Ashes are we talking? I know it's not third person and co op, but like that is the souls like shooter experience. What are we talking here?
Bless Andy
So I would say that you are dealing with a lot more melee than you are dealing with like actual shooting.
Mike
Okay.
Bless Andy
You know you do have a, you have a long range weapon in your left hand that you could use to kind of shoot at certain weak points on enemies. But it, it's definitely a lot more melee focused.
Mike
Okay.
Bless Andy
You see that big telegraph move coming, you know it's going to be Perry, Perry and then you want to dodge back because it's going to hit you with some. It's like really, really fun. Telegraph sick. Key art, dude. It's awesome as hell. Like it's a really, really solid demo that they put out several months ago during Steam Next Fest and I'm hoping that it hits this year and is awesome. And this is not like an early access thing. They're just dropping. It's a full campaign.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Wow.
Bless Andy
Yeah.
Mike
Really quick since he brought it up, you know, he brought a fantasy critic and I had to look really quick. Just make sure we acknowledge the returning champ now in first place.
Bless Andy
Wow.
Mike
Big Forza scoring right now. I'm back baby. Oh, and I'm gonna be making some trades with some people. Get ready.
Bless Andy
Speaking of big risk you took by taking forza So I did.
Mike
I was number one pick over gta. That's a big risk. That's a big conversation.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
The biggest slam dunk of all time. Mike is getting sore.
Mike
It's like taking Darko over Carmelo.
Bless Andy
So brave.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Bam writes in, says Horizon 6. Does it have a chance? Since 5 didn't get nominated? I imagine they're talking about for the game awards because Forza Horizon 5 came out after the cutoff in November for, for that year. I think Forza Horizon 6 makes the.
Mike
Oh, man, let's have a real. Let's get really real.
Greg Miller
Let's get real with it because I
Mike
don't know, I think we all doubt it. Go. Yeah, it should be on there.
Greg Miller
I did not.
Mike
Thank you, Greg, because I know you're like me. It's like I'm very doubtful of this. I think come December people will forget and people will acknowledge five other games over Forza and it will once again go, man. Forza was one of the best games out there. Just a perfect, polished product. And here we are again announcing five games and that's not on the list.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
I think it has a higher chance than not to be in the top, I think. I think there's just so much going for it. It's coming out in May. Like I do think, like that's people are going to forget. Like that's such a weird argument where it's like these people look back, it's going to forget.
Greg Miller
It's just the normal. I think I'm with Mike, they racing
Mike
games up like that.
Greg Miller
And that's what I think the big. Remember what a big deal it was when Forza Horizon 5 won IGN Game of the Year. Because usually, yeah, racing games are just overlooked, I think. And so, yeah, I just feel like when you bring all the outlets together, there's going to be so many people who just understandably are like, I don't like driving on a race. I don't do the thing.
Unidentified Guest
And to clarify, I don't think it was ineligible for game awards that year. It came in at like the very beginning of November, whereas I think typically cutoff dates for like nominations is not that early. It's so close. But to what Greg's saying, like, you have the, the people who are really passionate at all of these outlets and then when they have to come together as like a full organization, it's. It's a little tough to kind of sell to a lot of other people who are not as into that genre to like kind of vote for something like that into the Top six.
Bless Andy
I think IGN giving it game of the year, though, I'm right with you. Changes things.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, I think that the six and it's Japan and it's after five winning IGN's game there. It's like, yeah, I think that that narrative is going to shift a bit.
Bless Andy
As popular as Forza Horizon 5 was then coming out on PlayStation and selling 4 to 5 million extra copies, I know that's not the case here because it's not on PlayStation, but I feel like all of that stuff has just led up to like the big coming out party. This is Forza's year.
Greg Miller
I'm ready. I'm going to say it's not going to. It will not be on the.
Bless Andy
It'll be in the tops or whatever top.
Mike
Let's rewind to 2021 when this game out, Tim.
Bless Andy
Right.
Mike
And let's talk about what did make the list. It takes two, Psychonauts 2, Death Loop, Resident Evil Village, Metroid Dread and Ratchet, Ratchet and Clank, Rift Apart. That's a list where you go, oh, Fortune should have made that. Right. Like there's a couple games there that. What would you go over? I would have gone over Psychonauts 2. I would have gone over It Takes Two Metro.
Greg Miller
Yeah, we love Death. We love Death Loop.
Mike
But like and Jet this year, what I'm trying to get at is that is much weaker than what I think we're going to get this year. When we look at the list of Greg that already mentioned, it's like this year there's going to be six very strong titles and Forza being one of the strongest titles of the year, at the end of it all probably will not shake out one of those six.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, we'll see.
Greg Miller
We will, Tim.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
We will. I don't know what the hell's going on. Maybe it's because you guys are just keep super chatting, which I appreciate, but it keeps refreshing my shit and I can't freaking move back. There was one that I want to get to, Duro says, which wins like
Greg Miller
a hiccup, but it was also an hiccup. You know what I mean?
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Duro says which wins Game of the year, 99% story, 1% game versus 1% story, 99% game. If both are 10 out of 10, discuss immediately. Thanks. I love my favorite. I. I think the best thing about this is like they literally defined it here that these are equal. Right? These are both 10 out of 10 and they are an exact flip of each other. The X factor of what the game is Though is I think the difference and who is the one playing it? Like I don't think that there is an answer here of one is better than the other. If the story is that damn good and is that engaging as an interactive thing then cool. But the gameplay and the story 1% thing, it's like there's been so many examples of that in the past like, like them both being 10 out of 10. It's like they both deserve to be there and I feel like then it just comes down to the tastes of the yeah.
Unidentified Guest
What means more to you?
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Yeah, and I don't even think it's like I think that can change. Like there's so many games where the story means more to me or the gameplay means more to me but if all is equal, it's like I don't know.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Bless Andy
So I. I reject your answer. Your question.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Do you agree with what I'm saying?
Bless Andy
Yeah, no for sure. Yeah. I think it is such a case by case thing.
Greg Miller
Listen, we can answer that question or we could do something more interesting chat omglx says Jordan Midler from VGC News is talking somewhere on the Internet about something infamous related happening. So we are full stopping this show until the chat tells me where he's fucking talking about it. Yes, don't worry, I'm already over here what's apping him but I have no fucking idea what time it is in Scottsdale Dale, Arizona wherever the fuck he's from. So tell me where, tell me where it's happening. What is happening Chat what are you talking about? OMGLX this morning. No, no one has slacked me anything today. You've all been very rude. Why won't you be your I'm on vgc. I don't see it. Where would I see something twisted Voxel Sony could be revisiting Ape Escape and other classic PlayStation IPs. This claim VGC journalist Jordan Miller has once again hinted via Reddit that Sony may be revisiting older PlayStation franchises including Ape Escape, following comments he made during. Okay, well this is.
Unidentified Guest
I assume that's where this is coming from.
Greg Miller
I appreciate that Barry. Great job. Doing what? OMG Alex can't.
Bless Andy
It's like Greg yesterday wheel wheeling over to me in his chair and going hey man, go ahead and keep working. I've just been having a conversation with myself on slack with you. I was like oh.
Greg Miller
He opened it up and there was like I like asked the question and answer it asked another question. Like I just figured.
Bless Andy
I mean I looked at the window startup Tim and Slack is set to open up. Yeah, just wasn't open. What's going on there, Mike?
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Going on Slack. Slacking. Well, this has been a great episode of the Kind of Funny Games cast. Mike, you have a million games here. Is there any shout outs you want to give? Like, do you want to talk about any of these?
Mike
No, I felt like I. I hit all of them right there for sure. I mean, like I said, when you get into 4 through 10, mugenics slay the spire 2 super meat boy 3 that I had a blast with Marathon deserves a lot of love. Escape IT Simulator 2. Play that with your friends, you will smile and have a good time. Vampire crawlers out there and you'll be hearing more of Heroes of Might and Magic. The old. The olden age for me soon enough because I've been playing it.
Bless Andy
I don't know, we just were naming games you played because, like, I played a lot of games.
Mike
Those are my top 10.
Bless Andy
That's okay.
Mike
I spent time thinking about my top 10 so far. I had. Like I said, I played 20 games this year.
Unidentified Guest
Go play the OG or, you know, Super Meat Boy Mikey.
Bless Andy
Oh, God.
Mike
Calling him.
Greg Miller
It's infamous news. There could be infamous news in the
Mike
hills late at all either.
Greg Miller
I don't. You said what time? What is it in Scotsman?
Bless Andy
About 10.
Mike
Yeah, it's only nine to 10. It's not late. Yeah, he should be up.
Greg Miller
He. I mean, he better wake up. You look over there and your goddamn hero Greg Miller's calling you. Answer the phone. Make up Jordan Midler, you subtle bitch. How you doing? Very well.
Jordan Midler
How are you?
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
What.
Jordan Midler
What could this possibly be about?
Greg Miller
Yeah, what could it be about? What are you. Where are you talking? It's on Reddit. Where are you talking about infamous? What do you know?
Bless Andy
Big phone?
Jordan Midler
When I was talking was.
Greg Miller
You're on the. You're live. You're live on the show. Where are you talking? You're live on the gamescast.
Jordan Midler
This is the games live in the show. Because you've got this big excited voice on. And I was talking on vgc, the video game podcast. And what I know is that I was told at least at some point, that an infamous project is in development somewhere at PlayStation. Now, you may notice that this is not reported as a story on ggc because it's not something I can stand up with two sources. But, you know, you hear things on the wind.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Jordan Midler
And I feel like my wind has a pretty good tracker.
Greg Miller
Whoa. When are we gonna hear about it?
Jordan Midler
I have absolutely no idea. When I was told about it. I fully assumed the person was referring to a remake of 1 and 2. I don't know that. That wasn't told to me directly, but very much implied. But, yeah, that's. I mean, obviously, Sony, they could just bend it off. It might have been something that started and never got any legs or anything like that, but that's at least what I've been told.
Greg Miller
Okay, well, thank you. Thank you. What time is it in Scotland?
Jordan Midler
It is 23 minutes past 8.
Greg Miller
That's early or late. I hope you're okay.
Jordan Midler
You texting me was the first I'd heard that. This is broken containment, so.
Greg Miller
Yeah. Well, good. I will now get ready for more calls. I'm sure you'll get called from other shows, too. I'm sure that happens a lot.
Jordan Midler
Only answer for you, obviously.
Greg Miller
All right, I love you so much.
Bless Andy
I'll talk to you soon, Jordan.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Love you.
Jordan Midler
See you soon. Bye.
Greg Miller
Bye. Bye. Andy. Change the thumb. Thumbnail.
Mike
We got.
Greg Miller
We got.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
You know what I mean?
Greg Miller
This is. We've gone live again for another episode. Games Daily before. We should probably do that right now. We should probably do that right now to stress to PlayStation that this would be really cool if they did this.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
Oh, let us know in the comments below what your game of the year so far is. What you expect your game of the year will be.
Greg Miller
I'll tell you right now, if they're putting out infamous again, we got a new number one, everybody.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
It'll set the world on fire again. Just like it did the first time, right?
Greg Miller
It did.
Timothy Snow Bike Mike
It did, everyone. All right, love you all. We're about to stream. Goodbye.
This episode is a comprehensive mid-year "Game of the Year" (GOTY) check-in. The hosts – Tim Gettys, Greg Miller, Blessing Adeoye (Bless), and Andy Cortez – discuss their current picks for GOTY contenders, surprising standouts, and the state of gaming in 2026 so far. They break down their personal top tens, debate the likelihood of various anticipated games breaking in, and share what has resonated most with them individually and as a panel.
The conversation is candid, energetic, and peppered with jokes, classic Kinda Funny banter, and passion for gaming.
“I kind of want to do a check in. We have a lot of games here on the potential contender lists...But I definitely have five that I’d be shocked if they don’t make my top 10 by the end of the year.”

The Kinda Funny crew is impressed with 2026 — not for a single once-in-a-decade megahit, but for an unusually full roster of excellent mid-tier to top-tier games. Resident Evil 9, Sorrows, Mixtape, Pokémon Popcopia, Forza, and others are serious contenders, representing widely differing genres. The panel’s excitement is palpable, and the "second half" of the year promises even fiercer competition.
