Greg Miller
What's up, everybody? Welcome to the kind of Funny games cast for Tuesday, April 1st. No fooling 2025. I'm one of your hosts, Greg Miller, alongside the trio you love to hate. The Jabroni boys themselves, Snowbike Mike, Nick Scarpino and Andy Cortez.
Nick Scarpino
I don't think that's what the tagline is Gray, isn't it?
Andy Cortez
To hate.
Nick Scarpino
I don't see that on the posters anymore.
Greg Miller
I'm just saying, like it could be right now. It probably is. Why? Where is the fan art?
Nick Scarpino
The trio you love to love.
Greg Miller
You love to love your favorite trio's favorite trio. You love to hate each other though, right?
Snowbike Mike
Well, that's. Andy loves to hate us.
Greg Miller
Andy hates both.
Snowbike Mike
We love him a lot.
Nick Scarpino
We love him so hard.
Greg Miller
Andy hates both of you.
Snowbike Mike
It's great.
Greg Miller
And Mike is mad at Andy right now because of unaccounted for hours. Nick's mad at everybody for making him play Pokemon. Chris an is coming up on Friday. He's going to be furious. To be in the same room.
Nick Scarpino
Is not going to be happy about this Friday day. I. I give Chris like two hours into War Zone before he's just like, well, I made a terrible mistake.
Andy Cortez
What's going to be worse is Chris Anka being here. And the War Zone server is not working.
Snowbike Mike
Just a meltdown. Well, it. It launches Thursday.
Andy Cortez
So Friday, hopefully.
Greg Miller
Let me talk to you about Monster.
Snowbike Mike
Hunter Wild talk to you.
Greg Miller
Let's get out there.
Nick Scarpino
I mean, honestly, if that happens, we go, oops, it doesn't work. And we take Chris Anka out to dinner and just repay him for all the hours and hours we have given him.
Greg Miller
Is he staying over or is he going right back?
Nick Scarpino
I think he's going right back. I think we. I think we, we got him a room, but I think he's like, well, just in case. I think he's. I think his flight's like super early in the morning.
Greg Miller
It's in housekeeping. But let's do that. Let's give him the pitch of what's happening on Friday.
Snowbike Mike
Ladies and gentlemen, and mbs, of course, we're excited to return to Verdansk this Friday. Verdansk returns after 1200 days away. Three years since these boys hot drop towered hos launched in 2020. Yeah, it's been five years since it first started. Three years since we could last play it. And so we're going to do a big marathon stream on Friday to get the boys back together. And guess what? All four of us will be live in the Studio together. Chris an is coming up. Andy has given us a full day of nothing but Call of Duty action. And me and Nick, we're just excited to be back. Oh, that's not good. There we go.
Greg Miller
Not good.
Snowbike Mike
We got some tuna costumes. We got costumes. We got a cool backdrop.
Nick Scarpino
We're so excited about this. Andy, we're so excited for you.
Greg Miller
Andy, how excited are you?
Andy Cortez
I. So the way that they pitched this to me was like they called me into the room and it felt like the way they're pitching it to me was we're leaving the company. That's how much desperation they had. And like, like they close the door and like, all right, Andy, you know, hear us out.
Nick Scarpino
Hear us out.
Andy Cortez
They said Chris Anka wants to come up here. Hey, look, I'm excited to hop back into Verdansk before I cut my teeth. That's why I discovered that, like, holy shit, I'm crazy at this video game.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Nick Scarpino
Let me explain something to you, Greg, please. A lot of people don't think I'm a good negotiator. Mostly because I'm terrible. Mostly because anytime anyone wants to do anything with us, I want them to like us. So I just give them. That's why Tim does all the negotiations here for the business deals. But what. What I'll say is this. Me and Mike. This is a master class. We sold Chris on Andy and Andy on Chris.
Snowbike Mike
We did.
Nick Scarpino
We told.
Greg Miller
We told Chris.
Snowbike Mike
You got my so back this Friday. We're returning big marathon stream on Friday just to celebrate the end of the week and of course, to celebrate a big day for all of us being back together. It's gonna be great. Now, have we leveled up any of the weapons to be in the meta? Are we prepared for this? Absolutely not.
Nick Scarpino
I checked and we were so far off.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah. So far off.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Oh, man. Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah. This is like. If you want to get ready, you.
Greg Miller
Should be grinding like crazy, right?
Snowbike Mike
No, no, no.
Andy Cortez
Chris has sworn off of it.
Snowbike Mike
Oh, yeah.
Greg Miller
Because of you guys.
Andy Cortez
No.
Snowbike Mike
Well, probably because of me.
Greg Miller
Two thirds of us.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Two thirds of us. Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah, yeah. There's a lot of ranked gameplay with me and Nick. We talked about triangle offenses, we talked about communication. We talked about who's watch, watching what windows, and maybe Chris looked at it. It's like you guys aren't doing anything. I'm out.
Nick Scarpino
Chris is like, watch that window. I'm like, I'll watch this window. We just get distracted.
Andy Cortez
And pick something up and it's over.
Snowbike Mike
I'm excited because they're bringing back the OG helicopter. And that's where I really thrive.
Greg Miller
Sure.
Snowbike Mike
You know, the team hot drops into a building. We need all four guns to be shooting at enemy combatants. No, there's Mike a thousand meters away, flying the opposite direction.
Andy Cortez
The sound effect of your teammate going down. Where are you? Why the are you waiting?
Nick Scarpino
You see his pink crazy gulag is back.
Snowbike Mike
I'm excited for the gulag fights.
Greg Miller
We'll see all of this Friday as part of our big stream to celebrate the return of Verdansk. Of course. Twitch TV kind of funny games YouTube.com kind of funny games or is this one of those you're gonna go so long early on Twitch, I think we'll.

You just want to hang out in that streaming room. Mike tells me all the time. Andy doesn't want to go to this event. He doesn't want to do this. He just wants to hang out with me. Just wants to hang out with me during gdc. I believe you got to go play Den of Wolves. Yes.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah, sure did.
Greg Miller
Of course. Den of Wolves is developed and publisher by 10 Chambers. Release date not announced yet. Steam description reads Den of Wolves is a co op Heist. FPS from the creators of Payday, the Heist, Payday 2 and GTFO. In this techno thriller, you and your friends operate as criminals for hire in the conflicts between rival corporations in Midway City. Gather your crew, design the plan, gear up and execute the heist. Of course, GTFO one of those games that has had a community around it for quite some time, right? 10 Chambers has had a lot from that Metacritic of 78, but the game's been around a long time and got a lot of buzz at the game Awards when they announced Den of Wolves the first time around. Excited to hear. Andy, what did you get to play? What did you think of it? Are the Jabroni Boys, the group, the trio I love to hate going to drop in it?
Andy Cortez
Well, GTFO is a game that I've always wanted to stream with Greg. You need to figure out a day where all of us play with crap.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Andy Cortez
Because it's, it's just great content.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Andy Cortez
GTFO is similar to Payday where it's just a team versus the computer.
Greg Miller
Sure. Okay.
Andy Cortez
And the enemies are PvE. You know, the enemies are like based on movement. So like if you, you know, gross ass alien is like, you know, on the ground and then it'll suddenly like start kind of breathing and you know, they're like, stop moving. Stop fucking moving. Who fucking move while you. God damn it. And it all just goes to hell. Right? It's like a game. We played it a lot during the pandemic and we had a great time with it. But this is their follow up Den of Wolves. And I remember the first time we were shown it, I was like, oh shit, that's from the GTFO devs. That's awesome. That game rocks. And my initial worry was, oh, this is going to be another extraction shooter amongst all of the extraction shooters where you and your squad will go against the computer. But there's other squads and around, you know, the server and it, you know, that requires a player base. And you know, we were there when we try to play the cycle Frontier.
Nick Scarpino
You know, we had Some great times.
Andy Cortez
We had some. We had some great times. And that game got shut down. Right. And like that's always a story with these. And then I was so delighted to find out that that's not what this game is. This is just. This is a follow up to a GTFO and what Payday would have been. This is a. Another co op game where you are just against the AI. You're just playing against the PC or against the. The NPC computer. And you are. You're doing a heist but in a very cyberpunk style world. And I think it's a really cool story where they essentially have built a gigantic mega city because AI went crazy. And AI people were able to get into all sorts of financial systems and all that stuff with AI but thank.
Greg Miller
God this is a different reality future.
Andy Cortez
But we. But in this real. They built a city that all of the security is based on like bio networks now.
Greg Miller
Sure.
Andy Cortez
Where AI cannot get into. So that requires criminals to then go. That criminals got to kind of wisen up to that. And we are the criminals. We're not good guys. We are just. We're trying to just heist. We're trying to heist. And the cool thing about these bio networks is that not only are you breaking into places to try to very similar to G to Payday where you have to get the bags and you put them out and you couldn't, you know, get them all in that little spot or whatever, but you also will enact this sort of procedure, this mechanic called the dive. And the dive is pretty much inception going into the person, whoever's owning this place, whoever is, you know, the leader of whatever spot that we're in. We dive into their subconscious and have to kind of like do a thing to then get to continue the heist essentially. Right.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Andy Cortez
And it's very, very cool in the way that it's done. But visually the game is awesome. The gunplay feels freaking great. The AI feels awesome as well. The amount of times that I was getting cornered and like that. And this is a, a look into what the dive is. And the dive can be a multitude of things. Right here we're seeing this weird sort of trippy running around floating structures. But the dive can also be. I wrote a bunch of the stuff they were mentioning right here that the dive can also be like a snowy mountaintop because that has to do with that person's subconscious. Or it could be a totally different like, you know, place in Japan or whatever. Like it's the. The subconscious will always Kind of feel and look different. And then when you pop out of the dive, you have to make sure that you're in cover. Where you go into the dive. That's another cool thing where you have to get the COVID because the AI will go shoot you as you are doing the dive procedure. And then you may not be alive, I guess, when you come back. I was too goated, so I never died. When I died, how did you get to play for. I died a lot. Quite. Played for about maybe an hour to an hour and a half. We played two different missions. One was a bit sort of smaller, and then this larger heist had a lot more different areas of entry and a lot more places to evacuate from. And similar to a payday when. When we would play back in the day, Mike, we. There are different levels of success where you'll know how many bags of loot that you can take from this place.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Andy Cortez
And you could succeed by only taking five, but if you grab all 20 or whatever, you know that. That obviously heightens the difficulty. And the AI will be really responsive and pissed off if you are not. If you're allowing them to kind of.
Greg Miller
Were you seeing that in your playthroughs?
Andy Cortez
Oh, yeah. The amount of times that, like, we would feel safe for a little bit and then the reinforcements would start to pop up.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Andy Cortez
And they were deadlier and deadlier and they were scarier and scarier. And some of them were. I. Some of them were kind of like cloaked at some point and you would have to shoot them so their. Their cloaking device goes off. Everything felt really cool and intense as hell. Like, I was very. I felt nervous just playing against this enemy AI because I wanted to succeed and I wanted to have a successful. A successful heist, essentially. But, yeah, I was just super encouraged by what I got to play. It was a lot of fun. I want to play a lot more with. When this game eventually drops, I want.
Greg Miller
To let Mike off.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah. We got a lot of questions.
Greg Miller
I want to say thank you to 10 Chambers, the developer themselves. In the YouTube chat right now, they say. They do say in all caps. We formally invite both Andy and Greg to stream GTFO with us. We should do that crossover content. Thank you for supporting us and congrats on the game. Sounding great, Mike. Go get them, Andy.
Snowbike Mike
Let's dive into it. I want to know all about this game. I have a lot of questions. Let's start from the beginning. What does the setup look like? Do we have loadouts? Do we choose what entry points? Do we go into. You bring up this heist, right? So it's like, I think of, of course, payday. What is the look of the starting of this match?
Andy Cortez
So you. They did a pretty cool job of setting the scene for feeling kind of like a campaign where, okay, you are kind of walking through zones and you're hearing the news, you know, the news on the tv talking about like, oh, a real up thing happened last night, so whatever, whatever corporation. And. And you sort of get like, okay, we're getting story here as well. We're learning about corporations. We're hearing about the thing that we just did on the news, which is kind of neat, you know. And I think depending on how successful you are or not, you'll. All of that sort of news will be kind of procedural and how they. They deliver the news to you. But that's all just like set dressing, right? But you're kind of walking towards whatever this next big heist is going to be. And you start off with a loadout very similar to. Reminds me a lot more of GTFO where the loadout will show you. You could start off with kind of primary weapon or secondary weapon. And it's either going to be like an AR or the dm. The DMR is the one that I went with. I love a single shot dmr and that's the one that they all kind of recommended because it sounded great. And once I got in there, the feedback and the sound design of just those single shot headshots felt so cool to. To execute. And. And then you choose gadgetry and one of the gadgets that we kept on kind of defaulting to because it was so sick. It's in the. The footage that we just saw. You throw out like a little shield and you can shoot through it, but enemies can't shoot through you. Now those shields can be damaged. Those shields will need a cooldown in order to get back. But you also have to retrieve your shield. If you throw it down and you're kind of like using this space for cover. And you know, we're at this vault right now getting this. We're moving to the next one over here. You got to make sure to pick that up or else you're not going to have it on you. So there was also that sort of tangible feel to this isn't just a cooldown item that you have infinite of. And I liked knowing that. Oh shit, I forgot my shield over there. God damn it. I'm going to have to hopefully go retrieve it or not die here. And have to pop off and hit all my headshots or whatever.
Snowbike Mike
I got some more.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, what's up?
Greg Miller
Well, I have a question. Stop right there, because I want you to get into the game, but Nick Scarpino, is this doing anything for you? Of course.
Nick Scarpino
Well, as you know, Greg, I'm traumatized from last time I played a game like this, which was Payday with Ron Funches, where he made fun of me relentlessly for three hours.
Andy Cortez
Hours.
Greg Miller
Wait, wait, wait. He made fun of you for not paying attention?
Snowbike Mike
For breaking from the plan?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, that was a great not.
Snowbike Mike
Ron punches.
Andy Cortez
His fault.
Nick Scarpino
We had to. We had to break. Looking at me the wrong way, dude.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, that was a great moment.
Greg Miller
It's a shocker that Chris Inc. Is not excited for Friday.
Nick Scarpino
He's cautiously optimistic. No, I mean, this looks awesome. This looks like a lot of fun. We're definitely gonna have some laughs playing this and just getting into it. And I mean, as long as the shooting mechanic feels good, you know, I'm in for this.
Greg Miller
It.
Andy Cortez
I think the reason why I loved it a lot more was because the. We got right into the action of it, right into the thick of it. You can be sneaking around earlier on. There will be sneaky sort of situations where you're always kind of masked in a. Greg. You know, when you throw out a chaff grenade in Metal Gear Solid, you.
Greg Miller
Know, cameras can't see. They're like.
Andy Cortez
You're kind of. You're kind of being cloaked in the beginning of these sneaking missions. And you can go up and try to like knife dudes or. But if you get spotted, then things will kind of go off. So there is some sneaking involved. I enjoyed a lot more of that section as opposed to what Payday was offering. In addition to the really big. When things go off, it just feels awesome. And the enemies are fun to shoot. And you're also just not, you know, shooting up Jill and accounting, you know.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah. Like, it was a crazy time back.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, it was a crazy. Mistakes were made. It was a crazy time. But I. Something about this lawlessness in this world. I. I love the believability of this area, that they're kind of of this world, that there are no electronic security systems. It's all bio network stuff. And that's how we are essentially going into somebody's subconscious. And just like Inception, we are planting a memory. We are planting something. The. I will say the section. Those sections. The only reason why I'm not 1 million percent sold on them. I love them just in concept, but they were parkour kind of challenges and you had to get to the end of it in order to succeed the dive. I was hoping for more and maybe this is something they'll implement because this game's going to launch into early access. It's not going to be.
Greg Miller
We don't have a date, right?
Andy Cortez
No date, yeah. But I hope it's something that they'll implement and hopefully the devs are listening, obviously, because the parkour was cool. I wanted also more of like a destiny sort of implementation where you are running and you're trying to get to the end of whatever this dive is, but three things pop up and you gotta shoot them all, like timed and stuff. I. I hope that there's more raid.
Greg Miller
Mechanics, I hope that there's more raid.
Andy Cortez
Mechanic stuff kind of implemented to kind of add to the excitement of it all. But the. Just the kind of the rhythm of sneaking and then eventually when things pop off the level of coordination that you. That our squad needed, it just felt way more intense than any of the other PvE experiences I've had. You know, me and Mike, we know that Rainbow six Extraction got, you know, it got, it got.
Snowbike Mike
I deserved good medicine, deserved a higher.
Andy Cortez
Score for you, Mike, but this felt a lot more, I would say intense than Rainbow six Extraction. And I enjoyed that game. I played a lot of. A lot of hours of it. This felt like something I really want to sink my teeth into because the setting was also a lot more enjoyable. Visually stunning as hell. It is cyberpunk looking. It is futuristic. It's really, really sick. All the gadgetry was a lot of fun.
Greg Miller
I have two questions and off the bat, one's for 10 chambers in the chat, since they're just there answering our audience's questions, which is amazing. Thank you so much. To confirm, somebody asked, will there be. Is only PC? Is it coming to consoles? Ten Chambers responded. We have a console release in mind, but got to make the game good on PC first. They said they are confirming, making sure it feels good on controllers. My question for 10 chambers is, how big is the team? And then back to you, Andy.
Andy Cortez
Is the team at 10 chambers? Yeah, they started off at 10 and they are now a little bit above 100.
Greg Miller
Oh, shit. Okay, cool.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Greg Miller
And then my question for you is, did they talk about or did you see or like how many of these inception things Maps are Inception and maps in general? Like, how are we. Are we grinding out the same things over and over again to do the whole matter of it, or is it there's a Lot of different content for it to go. Is it. Is it a narrative that's stretched together?
Andy Cortez
I think that they mentioned that there would be like two. Like the Promise District is the first big area. It's got luxury and slums. And I think that they're going for. They're aiming for four mission types as espionage. There's corporate sabotage, assassinations, and prototype theft.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Andy Cortez
And the prototype theft is like where you're going in to steal technology from a corporation to then sell it to the highest bidder or whatever the hell. Right. I don't remember what their plan was for the launch of Early Access. I think they said it was like one or two big sort of map encounters. But aside from that, I don't quite remember what the.
Greg Miller
Checking. I was wondering what your. What the specifics were because again, what we're seeing looks awesome. I guess because then the third question I get, and this is selfish. I'm sorry, am I gonna vibe? Because it feels like everything you're saying, I feel like I'm gonna vibe. Is it getting. So it's not getting nerdy of like this attachment and that and then the bullet drops and then this and like. No. Right?
Andy Cortez
No. You are buying pretty straightforward weapons at the start of a match. And I gotta assume that has to deal with how successful your last heists were. Right. And you buy whatever weapons you want. And then you could have reminded me a lot of the gadgetry. Kind of reminded me of the division too. When we really with that where. Yeah, we. The not only the shield was an option where you could shoot through it.
Greg Miller
It got up and abruptly left. And I was like, he's about to sneeze or something. He's got an important phone call now just coming back from Starbucks. The bucks drop. The bucks drop.
Snowbike Mike
Important.
Greg Miller
So Mike's gonna crush this chocolate croissant.
Nick Scarpino
In the middle of the show.
Greg Miller
Great.
Andy Cortez
Not only those. Those shields were there, but there's also a little mini turret that you could throw down that saved us quite a bit in a lot of moments where I went down at one point and you could only crawl so far before you can get resid. So I crawled as far as I could, but I was right around a corner. So I was kind of like trying to be a third eye for them being like, there's two more dudes, there's three more dudes, there's two more dudes, you know? And I was trying to call those out, but one of Vlad was on our squad and he threw down a turret to. And there was A shield in front of me as well. And the turret was taking dudes out as he was resin me.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Andy Cortez
It's just like, man, it had such a. It reminded me of like the best times of our division gameplay. And again, the gameplay. I missed the division so much and I want to eventually go back to that world and have those co op experiences. This is the closest I felt to.
Greg Miller
That in a long time, right there in the chat. 10 Chamber says for early access, we're aiming for one district, the Promise district, and that district will have a variety of missions that form a storyline. My question then comes back to you then of like, what does progression look like? What am I coming out of a match with, and what am I doing with it?
Andy Cortez
I have to assume it's very similar to the Payday like, structure, where you are either leveling up weapons, leveling up like, or unlocking more gear to then buy later on. When we're talking about like the utility functionality, or you're getting either the turret or shields and things like that. I didn't get a whole lot of glimpse of that because we were just like so focused on making sure that this mission went well for sure. And then we really, really royally up at the end of the mission. Because one cool thing, Mike, if you remember, in gtfo and Nick played GTFO with us as well, there were moments.
Greg Miller
Thanks for inviting me, guys.
Andy Cortez
There were moments in GTFO that really weren't in Payday. I don't know, I guess Payday definitely had a lot of this, but it reminds me a lot more GTFO where we've hit this sort of checkpoint in the mission. We all have to gather in this circle and all of us have to be there to upload the next thing to unlock the next part of the mission. Right. So there's the. In gtfo, I distinctly remember there being moments where two of those circles were up and you could have to go to each one, or you could have all four go to one circle and the other four go to another circle and everybody sort of wait there and kind of progress. This progression bar, whether it be a hacking thing or your device breaking into a safe, I love moments like that where it's like, oh, do we split up the team right here or do we go all of us sort of separate in this moment? And I. I really sort of enjoy the strategy there. So, yeah, those are the things that kind of reminded me a lot of my GTFO experiences where it's like, we can get this done a lot faster if we split up, but that's way riskier. And I lost my shield over there and I'm low on ammo right now. You know, like, there are a lot of things that happen to you that you might feel like you'll have to change plans on the fly. Now when you're going into these safes to try to find the key to open up the grand safe, these safes will have little health packs and ammo pickups and. And one of our extraction options was like, do we break the big wall window to then escape out of here at the end? Do we do that at the start or do we wait to do that at the end? Like, I just love that sort of that push and pull of strategy.
Greg Miller
Sounds cool.
Andy Cortez
So, yeah, it really was a lot of fun. The. And they also mentioned a documentary they're working on called do the Game. And it's a. An eight episode series that they want to showcase just like how grueling game development can be and the, you know, moments of honesty, of arguments and like that. Like, it kind of reminds me of watching some of those. The Last of Us Document or the Corey Barlog God of War documentary. You know, they're working on a series that they're like, in talks to shop it out, which I think is like genius because it reminds me of. It reminds me of welcome to Wrexham. Like, let's have a documentary about our soccer team.
Nick Scarpino
Yeah, yeah.
Andy Cortez
And then suddenly people are going to get really, really into the soccer team. Yeah, like this one of those. This is a documentary about this video game. What if people get really, really into the video game as well? You know, it's kind of like how.
Nick Scarpino
Tim wasn't into getting married until he started watching the Real Housewives.
Andy Cortez
Exactly, exactly. Finally somebody said, don't shop it around.
Greg Miller
Just put it up on. Kind of funny, you know, we'll buy.
Nick Scarpino
For like Netflix or kind of, hey, man.
Greg Miller
Put us both on the map.
Nick Scarpino
Well, let's put it this way, we can't afford it, but we'll help you start a bidding war with Netflix. Exactly, exactly.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, they mentioned. I also wanted to go through some of the other examples of what these dives are because I think the, the dive has the most potential, in my opinion, to set itself apart from other games like this.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And I think a lot of it just has to do with the variety and the differentiation of. We are in this obviously cyberpunk world, but now we are diving into this person's mind to plant a memory of some sort or to plant an idea.
Greg Miller
Yeah, the dive sounds super cool and super interesting. Just like the Kinda Funny membership. If you didn't know, you could pick up a Kinda funny membership on patreon.com kinda funny YouTube.com kinda funnygames, Apple or Spotify of course. Greg Miller
And we're back.
Snowbike Mike
He said, don't forget. Mike. We got a call, but I was like, call who? I'm trying to talk to Andy.
Greg Miller
You won't get back to Andy. Don't worry about it.
Nick Scarpino
Oh, I thought he said call an audible.
Andy Cortez
See? Calling.
Greg Miller
Hello? Is this Alfredo Diaz?
Andy Cortez
Oh, God, yes, this is.
Greg Miller
Hey, this is. Yeah, this is great. Hey, man, how you doing? I've talked to you in a long time.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, man, doing good.
Greg Miller
You're live on Twitch and YouTube right now. It's on the kind of funny games cast we're talking about Den of Wolves. It might be a game you're interested in, but that's not why I'm calling. I'm not sure if you're aware, but I have the Stars in the bank briefcase, which means I can cash in my Stars in the bank briefcase and take three stars from Tim if I can beat him in a trivia game, which we all know I can. And I'm doing this tomorrow during the Nintendo Switch to direct. And Tim's already upset about that information, but I wanted to call you. I'm going right now. I already called Curran. I'm calling you. I'm calling all of his best friends. And I think tomorrow when I take those stars from him during his most holy of holy days, he's gonna be pretty devastated. So I wanted to make sure you were on call to pick him up and, like, give him a call and say, hey, this is.
Andy Cortez
This has gotta be like a Joke, right?
Greg Miller
I mean, there's no. I never joke when it comes to stars in the bank, sir.
Andy Cortez
Greg, you can't do this to him.
Greg Miller
I mean, it's been. I've called my shot. The briefcase. When I won the briefcase, Fredo, I was told I could cash in whenever I want to, and I want to cash it in now.
Andy Cortez
Greg, you can cash in whenever you want, but, I mean, this is kind of like. This is below the belt. This is putting the man six foot under. You can't do this to Tim.
Greg Miller
It's called cruel and unusual punishment. It's what he deserves for, you know, getting the easy questions. Andy, does he get the easy questions?
Andy Cortez
He does.
Greg Miller
Thank you very much.
Andy Cortez
I got a question about Call of Duty, right? But then I feel like we need to, like, take a step back and look at the questions and see if it's really validated.
Greg Miller
They're easy or not.
Andy Cortez
But, like, on the holiest of days for this man, you. It's gonna ruin him forever.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Nothing left.
Greg Miller
I mean, that's the point, Alfredo.
Andy Cortez
That's the hope.
Greg Miller
That's the point. That's the hope. That's the desire. All right? We're sick of losing to him on this, so we're crushing his soul. All right, so listen, this wasn't. Fredo standup hour. I was calling, trying to be nice, telling you to get ready to pick up your loser friend.
Andy Cortez
All right, well, I'm telling you. Jesus.
Snowbike Mike
Oh, wow. Just hang up on him. Is.
Greg Miller
And that's the thing. Nick knows better than anybody, right, with these former rooster teeth folks, right? They've all got this free time. They're all fucking fired. Just living in cardboard boxes. They can just talk and talk and talk and talk. Can we get back to Den of Wolves? That's all we're trying to do right now. Thank you, Ten Chambers, for giving away so many GTFO codes in the YouTube channel. You're fantastic. I like having a developer here. I'm sorry, but I'm. I'm tilted, as the kids would say.
Snowbike Mike
You're going a little tilted. And I want to talk about intensity. I want to talk about intensity and most importantly, ambiance as well, because I think the ambiance can lead in and build into the intensity. Okay? So for gtfo, I think the ambiance, the setting, the nature of the game built and kind of ramped up that intensity to the next level, right? Of, like, you're strictly in the dark. You roll up on a scary alien you've never seen before, and you freak Out, Right. This is more of a cyberpunk setting. Right? Something we've seen before. Nothing like it's not in the dark and stuff. How did that setting go? Did. Was there ambiance? Because when I think of this team, I think of some really cool, awesome, atmospheric stuff that you. You don't see in many other games.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, the. There were similar things being implemented in here that I experienced that I remember from gtfo. There's an enemy in gtfo, Greg, that obviously I already told you about. The ones that are asleep and once they start breathing, that's when you know, you gotta. It's like a red light, green light situation. But there are other enemies. Mike, if. If Mike and Nick remember that send out tendrils of, like, hot. Of like, not tentacles, but they were just like, tendrils and they're out there and they. They retract and go out every. I don't know how many, but you have to know that, like, if they. You can't run away while that's happening because you're making noise at that point. But when those tendrils go out, you have to avoid them and not get. Get touched by them because in that. That's them being aware of, like, oh, somebody's here in the room or whatever. And they implement that sort of same mechanic with some of the guards in this game where that's like their kind of like their. Their AI awareness level or whatever. And they will. You'll see those things go out and you're like, oh, I gotta back up, back up, like. And you'll see it kind of extending towards you, like, oh, my God, I don't want to run to then, you know, make somebody aware that I'm here and make noise, but I have to move fast enough so that I don't get touched by this in that moment. So the intensity is absolutely there. Atmospherics and just the. The. The ambiance of, like, how awesome the cyberpunk lighting is and everything. All of that totally, like, fits great and looks amazing. This is running on Unity 6. I was pretty blown away by that because, like, Unity's got it and they've had it for a while now. But this looks really awesome and very, very impressive visually.
Nick Scarpino
Creed in the chat says Greg would actually do very well in gtfo. He usually sticks to the objective pretty well.
Greg Miller
He has a laughing squirt a lot. I do, though. I'm usually the one who gets complimented for staying on objective.
Snowbike Mike
That's why I think. I think Greg would dig this game in GTFO. Because it isn't 10 Chambers PvP. It's a PvE setting where you and the team work to overcome things. Battling against the AI. And we saw Helldivers with massive success. Right now, it's like there is a audience for these PvE cooperative titles. Because when I think intensity, me and Nick go to. We like that question mark, that unknown of another team, right? There's this, hey, the AI is just. The AI will always stick to the path or will usually do AI like things. What we always found the intensity was. Is like the AI adds to that, but it's really the other team coming after us. Does the AI really bring an intensity? Is it bullet, maybe? Like you only can take a couple of hits. Is it. There's so many. It overwhelms you. How do you build that intensity when there isn't somebody on the other side of the keyboard doing something totally different?
Andy Cortez
Getting. Getting swarmed from a lot of different shooting angles was what was incredible.
Nick Scarpino
No, you knowing this one, you just.
Greg Miller
Couldn'T play with the rest of these guys. They can't follow an objective when it's written right on their.
Nick Scarpino
No, I'm going to stop you right there. I'm going to stop right there.
Snowbike Mike
Stop right now.
Nick Scarpino
Hit the brakes.
Alfredo Diaz
Hit the brakes.
Nick Scarpino
Greg is actually good at. At. At running through objectives. What he's not good at is leading a team and waiting for the people who may not be as good at video games as him.
Snowbike Mike
I thought he was coming after us.
Nick Scarpino
No, he is coming after us, but I'm defending us because he's desperately trying.
Greg Miller
To turn it on me. He knows the target is on him right now. From Chris.
Snowbike Mike
Wait a second now, Chris.
Nick Scarpino
Careful for the juries, you know, to look at right now.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
The jury's to look at.
Greg Miller
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I'd like to show you.
Nick Scarpino
I'd like to roll out this TV for the jury's edification. I played Diablo with Greg for a while.
Snowbike Mike
He's played Diablo.
Andy Cortez
Did you.
Greg Miller
How long did you play Diablo?
Nick Scarpino
Played for a solid three or four hours. We did play a couple sessions and I distinctly remember being like, I don't know where we're going. I don't know what we're doing. I have no idea how to play this game. And after 15 minutes of Greg dadding me, he's like, you know what, Nick? And this is what he said. This was his verbatim.
Snowbike Mike
Tell him what he says.
Nick Scarpino
I already have a small child at home. Okay? I don't need to deal with one at work. And he left my ass behind. And then all of a sudden I'm just the ghost now.
Snowbike Mike
Let me just throw something out there, you know, Not a good leader maybe to come to Greg's defense because I'm on both sides, you know, Greg isn't the team leader. He's the wild card of the group.
Nick Scarpino
Exactly.
Snowbike Mike
He's the guy who's gonna, he's gonna drink a bunch of Coca Colas and all of a sudden he's either with the team or he's against. That's why he's on the squad.
Nick Scarpino
Remember we tried to get a play war zone. He just hold up in a bathroom. I was like, Greg, it's the Steve thing.
Snowbike Mike
We need all four of us. So it's like, you know, we were.
Greg Miller
All Rhea, Ripley, my main man Greg.
Snowbike Mike
He'S not the team leader. It falls on us.
Greg Miller
You know what I mean?
Snowbike Mike
We're the team leaders. And like I look at Andy, he's our team leader. I always say every time we play.
Andy Cortez
No, that's not true at all.
Snowbike Mike
That's not true every time we play.
Andy Cortez
I don't even know what we're talking.
Snowbike Mike
We're talking about intensity against the AI. There are these games where me and Nick in particular like the intensity of when you add the PvP element, there's the unknown of what the other players. When you're playing against the AI, there's sometimes this like mindless feel of it's not hard enough or they're not bringing enough pressure and usually just comes down. Well, they just overwhelm me with a thousand of them.
Nick Scarpino
For me it feels, it feels, you start to, you start to feel like it's pre programmed. And I think that is always something that takes me out of an experience like this where I would. That's why I look for experiences more like a war zone where yes, it's the same game and it's the same basic concept every single time and more for more often than not you're getting this a similar experience but every once in a while something crazy will happen because some player will just go completely gonzo. Do you feel like there's opportunities for that in here with the, with the AI?
Andy Cortez
I mean, I think there's enough unpredictable moments that can happen just based on our experience with GTFO and how difficult that was. That was, that was always their version of like, hey, you've played a lot of other PvE games, this one's really hard and you have to be on your P's and Q's. You have to like, you have to mind them.
Nick Scarpino
You got to mind both.
Andy Cortez
You have to mind your.
Greg Miller
Ladies and gentlemen, the jury, you have to mind your P's and the cues.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, you. Your P's and you cross your Q's. You have to. You have to be on your. Or else things will go haywire and then you will eventually lose. Now, I can't solve your problem if you'd rather die to other players or you'd rather die to the cpu. That's more of a personal preference deal or whatever. But I still find a lot of excitement in trying to overcome a really, really tough challenge Interesting. Especially when two of your dudes are down and you're trying to go for that res, but you're being surrounded from all areas. Like, I really love the intensity there. And that's. I think it all comes down to player preference because I. I also love the excitement of running into another team in. In. In the cycle or.
Nick Scarpino
What was that? What was the one we went to? It was like medieval, where you jump in.
Andy Cortez
Oh, dark and dark.
Snowbike Mike
Dark.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Nick Scarpino
That was insane.
Andy Cortez
And that shit's always fun, but I. You know, when me and Mike previewed arc raiders way back in the day, we had a lot of fun for those few sessions. And the immediate thought I have to go to is, like, well, when will. When will that feeling lose its luster? Right? And like, that's always a way to kind of look at it from, you know, the glass half empty.
Nick Scarpino
Well, it's also the opposite where it's when in order to have that experience, you need other players on the other side. Yeah. What happens if you don't get those?
Andy Cortez
Of course, of course.
Nick Scarpino
That's always. That was the problem with the cycle is I think we cooled on it, and then I think it just died fast because of the player base just.
Andy Cortez
Just.
Nick Scarpino
Just evaporated.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
So that's. That's the thing that you need for those games to have those emergent gameplay experiences. For me, I just love the difficulty that we experience in this game and having your bag against the wall and trying to clutch up and. Man, we thought we were gonna get all of the bags of loot. We only have six so far. Can we even get these last six right here? Because the enemy has just, like, wisened up and started bringing new sort of enemy types into the. Into the fold.
Nick Scarpino
Consideration. That's what I was looking for.
Andy Cortez
Ah, the jury's consideration for your consideration. Yeah, we got there.
Greg Miller
We got there.
Snowbike Mike
We made it work.
Greg Miller
Andy, this is a fantastic preview.
Andy Cortez
Thank you.
Nick Scarpino
You did A good job today.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah, you bring us. Yeah, bring us.
Andy Cortez
Check the slack.
Snowbike Mike
Check the slack.
Greg Miller
I'm checking the slack.
Snowbike Mike
Double check the slack. But also cross referencing. I just always, yeah, cross reference if. With the cow.
Nick Scarpino
I just always assume that if it's like, hey, there's.
Snowbike Mike
I think there's a mic Pokemon Day by ourselves, you know, and we got.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, let me look at, let me look at Monday, March 3rd. Anybody, anybody else get a invite to play Den of wolves here in SF. And the next one, three minutes later, March 17, you down to go. And I tagged Mike and Blessing. It's decimate GTFO and that game kicks ass.
Snowbike Mike
Please cross reference the calendar now. March 17, what were we doing?
Andy Cortez
I mean, you could just respond, judge, cross reference it.
Greg Miller
Your honor, I'm not going to do that. Instead, I'm going to. I mean, we can easily flip this back at Andy.
Snowbike Mike
We're flipping it.
Greg Miller
We've talked, talked about this on content before. We've never mentioned the project. Yeah, but there was a redacted thing of would you guys want to go to Sweden with me? And then there was a three way. March 10th was the last thing where we finally got Andy to respond. You pinged him on the thread. You, on March 7, you go, ping Andy Corinth. And he goes, when would this be? And he said it three days later on the 10th. I immediately respond, two hours later, end of April, March 10, 11, 19am that's the end of the conversation.
Andy Cortez
You never see them.
Nick Scarpino
They don't know what.
Snowbike Mike
I get it. I get it. I don't.
Nick Scarpino
I'm not supposed to be on Discord.
Andy Cortez
I don't even know what's happening, notifications wise. But I like halfway through watching Aliens or Predators the other night, I see a Slack saying, make sure you watch Predators. I'm like, oh, man, I'm glad I'm watching it because I definitely didn't see that. A lot of threads. It's a lot of things. Which threads do you pull any buttons?
Nick Scarpino
Maybe we need more channels in Slack. Maybe we should start with channels.
Greg Miller
I mean, the channel would be better than the thread, right?
Alfredo Diaz
Let's.
Andy Cortez
Here's what we do.
Nick Scarpino
We start a channel called hey, Andy.
Andy Cortez
And it's just, I will see it is Andy. I will quit. I will quit.
Greg Miller
We somehow go in and make it like, it's like front page of sl.
Nick Scarpino
Every notification is from, hey, what are you doing?
Greg Miller
Andy, what's going on?
Andy Cortez
I think I, I think this game has so much promise. I think it's a lot of fun and I'm gonna have a blast. I think if you are the type of person who, because there's. There's so many audiences that haven't really been fed good for certain genres. Right. And I think of like, there's an audience for people that go, man, I just want a couch co op game to play with like friends and family or whatever. And I recommended Greg Towerborn the other day. Yeah, this is the type of game that. It's like me and my friends, man, we hop into Warzone, we get our asses whooped, we hop into call, like, like, I, I just want to play a game with friends online that are. That's just like a coordinated. This is it. This is the division experience I've been looking for for quite some time. Because it has all those makings and trappings of what I loved about, you know, stealthing and then going, all right, there's two enemies there. We both have the headshot at the same time. We both. And that was also in GTFO of like, we're shooting on. On go. Ready? It's gonna be 3, 2, 1, go. But and having that synchronization, having that level of just like needing to team up with your squad and have a good strategy. I love that. And this is going to be one of those experiences.
Snowbike Mike
I'm putting a GTFO stream next week on the calendar.
Greg Miller
I'm not here next week.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah, well, we're gonna play without you.
Greg Miller
No, I want to play with everyone.
Andy Cortez
Come on, we gotta do one with. We. We also gotta do one for. Well, I don't know when this game. I don't think this game will come out in early access this year. Oh, yeah. Just based on like where they think. I don't know, maybe. Who knows? But I think it would be a great Halloween type spooky stream because it's a scary game. Like the enemies are horrifying in this game that starts. No, no, no.
Greg Miller
I, I assume that from tendrils.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. But you know, Mike, I'm just thinking, you know, obviously that's a long time for now, but we got Nuzlocke, we got Call of Duty, we got.
Snowbike Mike
We're gonna put on the books. We'll make it.
Andy Cortez
Put it on the books.
Greg Miller
Yeah, I appreciate that.
Andy Cortez
Put it on the books.
Greg Miller
And I appreciate your time, Nick. Hey, thanks for having me come over to the gamescast. Enough.
Nick Scarpino
I would love to do this anytime. You guys have anything that I can talk about?
Greg Miller
Ladies, gentlemen and enbies, we hope you enjoyed this preview of Den of Wolves coming hopefully soon. But GTFO sounds amazing too. So Andy sold me at two games today, so I gotta go get both these and be ready to go and get out there.
Andy Cortez
Dude, you would. It's like Alien man. It's so dark and it's like just foggy everywhere in the light.
Nick Scarpino
You played it with us.
Andy Cortez
No, he didn't.
Greg Miller
Oh, never. It's fun. I mean, I'm excited. Let's do it. Of course, this is what we do here on the kind of Funny games cast. Each and every day we come to you with the biggest previews, reviews and topics we need to talk about in video games. If you like that, consider picking up a kind of funny membership. Of course, that membership gets you all of our shows ad free and a daily podcast from me, Greg Miller, in a series we call Greg Way. Most importantly though, keep this small business's 11 person dream alive. Keeping dreams alive is a big deal for us and that's why we're broadcasting all day long. As always, me and Mike are about to go play Monster Hunter all day.
Snowbike Mike
What level am I? I don't. I don't know. We're gonna play.
Greg Miller
I would immediately leave Zach behind. Just go play. Of course. Tomorrow is the big, big, big, big day though. Stars in the bank gets cashed in and as I take on Tim Gettys, which by the way reminds me, there was super chats, none of them were actually about Den of Wolves. People were chatting away in there, which is great. Kyle says, greg, I can't believe you fold early stream for Stars in the Bank. How far our heroes fall.
Andy Cortez
Dead.
Greg Miller
Kyle, I'm sick of all this build up, okay? It's time to unleash the beast. Let's get it out of the way at 5:45 so that all day long, every time Tim goes, oh my God, I get to go. You fucking suck. Look at all these stars. All right, that's what I want. I don't want to keep talking about the briefcase. I've talked about the briefcase. It's time for me to get my stars and shove them down Tim's throat.
Nick Scarpino
Well, I was gonna ask you a question.
Greg Miller
I know what I was. I thought it'd be funny. What's your question?
Nick Scarpino
I just. It's less of a question. I'm just happy that this is happening.
Greg Miller
Thank you.
Nick Scarpino
Because may I say that I think throughout the years, and I don't want to be overly critical of your management style and your leadership style here, I don't think you've been hard enough on Tim.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Nick Scarpino
And I think this is a really good step forward.
Andy Cortez
This is like the Elon Musk meme of like. Everybody's being really tough on Elon Musk. But we can be tougher. Really mean. We can be meaner.
Nick Scarpino
I'm glad this happened.
Greg Miller
Me too. Of course, on top of Stars in the bank, it's the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal event. We'll be live at 5:45. That way we can be live at 6:00. When it pops off, come watch along with us or watch our reactions later. Remember, as soon as it ends, if you're watching on your own and didn't want us talking over it, I understand. Come on by for the kind of Funny Games cast post show with Cat Bailey as we run through everything that happened, what we thought of it, so on and so forth. And then after that, we'll be kind of Funny Games daily. Paris and Gary talking about Nintendo Switch 2 and whatever else has happened, although I doubt much. And then after that, Nuzlocke, we're nuzzing all day. Big streams.
Snowbike Mike
We got gyms coming up. We got the Elite four coming up.
Nick Scarpino
Three more gins. We got the Elite four. We got to grind a little bit. We're going to have some fun.
Greg Miller
It's on great for now. It's time to finally go back to Monster Hunter. So until next time, it's been our pleasure to serve.
