The rain is pouring down. You can hear it just storming. Downpour hitting the top of the building. The roof is just getting pelted by rain. The front door opens. Mike looks outside and says oh My God, it's actually really, really pouring down. Yeah, Mike, we can hear it. It's crazy. And he leaves. Anyway, he decides to go to the corner store because he needs to buy something. He wants to buy water, get water. Cuz we don't have water blessing.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
We don't have water in this office.
Andy Cortez
And then with the kitchen about in a fridge that gives water, about a minute later, runs back and says, that was a mistake. It is bad out there. I am just drenched. Oh my God. We're looking at him like, damn, you're drenched, dude. And then he walks near his desk and goes, oh my God, I don't know where my phone is. And I said, well, I called you and spoke to you on the phone as you were walking into the studio. And he goes, no, yeah, but I had my phone then I just. I think I left it somewhere out there. I think it fell somewhere out there. And he walks to the doorway and he's looking out at the street. No, no eyeglasses, no, no, nothing to help his. His vision. And I said, do you need me to be your Legolas? What Legolas? What do your elf eyes see? And I walked out onto the street and as we're trying to see through the downpour, Mike, that's your phone in the middle of the street way over there. Oh my God, it's still pouring. He takes off back out there, picks up his phone in the middle of the street, comes back in, the man is drenched. Already went through his first clothing change of the day.
Mike
Yeah, good thing I brought three more.
Andy Cortez
How are your pants feeling?
Mike
A real wet underwear. Wet socks. Wet socks. And you don't want to start your day like that. We always talk about a good foundation, solid pair of underwear, solid pair of socks.
Andy Cortez
You don't want wet socks.
Mike
But here's the deal. Can we just highlight modern technology? That phone still alive. That phone's 10 plus. I don't know if you can call that still kicking its phone.
Andy Cortez
It is 10 generations old.
Mike
It's playing the new Borderlands test game. That's not a game.
Andy Cortez
Really impressive.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, but it's not receiving calls.
Andy Cortez
No, it is.
Mike
He's ignoring that noise.
Andy Cortez
He's, you know it is. Everybody, welcome into the kind of funny call Me today.
Mike
I have to stop this. For example, I'm listening to Roger and Bless my my dynamic duo, the Draw and the taste maker on Games Daily Today. All of a sudden, the sound stops. I'm like, why would my podcast stop? I'm listening to them. I look down, the phone's ringing. It's Andy.
Andy Cortez
Oh, he didn't know. Gotcha. Gotcha.
Mike
It wouldn't make a ringing noise. No, not.
Andy Cortez
Of course.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I walked out of KFC and I just see a very wet mic and I hear the breathing and I'm like, I don't know what he just went
Andy Cortez
through, but it was something he went through a lot. Everybody, this is the kind of Buddy Games guys for Friday, April 10, 2026. It's April, blessing.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
It is April.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
You've caught up to April.
Andy Cortez
Wow.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
These in the current month.
Andy Cortez
Just reading whatever's on there. April. I am Andy Cortez, and I am joined by Blessing Adioye junior. How you doing? Bless.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I'm doing pretty well. How are you doing?
Andy Cortez
I'm doing great. I'm excited for the weekend. I'm excited to get some more gaming in.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
A lot of gaming to be done this week.
Andy Cortez
Been setting up that Ayn Thor almost like super ready to go.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I mentioned I. I was at my desk yesterday, I just typed in Iron Thor. Ayn Thor. I don't know how to say. I want to say iron because Iron Ran.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Ayn Thor. And I was looking at it and then I. I brought up a Wolf Den video.
Andy Cortez
Ah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
They had like a 20 minute. Here's what you need to know. Here's how you set it up. And halfway through, I went, this is too much for me. And I closed it and went, I guess I'm not getting that. He was like, you need two launchers. You need to do. You need to do a lot of crazy.
Andy Cortez
Oh, yeah, Retroarch, you know, to get all the. The things going. And then I'm using Cocoon as the launch top because it's a dual screen launcher.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What if I just give it to you? If I get in a Thor.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Could I just give it to you to set up for me?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I could. I could essentially just copy everything over. Yeah. What's your rate?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
How much do I have to pay you? I'll play Deadlock.
Andy Cortez
Oh, keyboard mouse.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, I'll play.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. That is exciting. Okay. All right. I'll think about it.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
All right.
Andy Cortez
Bet. I also very, very selfishly used my Greg way yesterday or two days ago to not only talk about the top 100 game. Top 100 games. Fine. Top 100 games of the year coming up. The things I'm catching up on the backlog and trying to sell my old AY and Thor. I just used it as like an advertiser and I said, anybody? I'm gonna sell this for A really good discount. Washburn is the first one who gets the best discount on it. If he says no, then I will sell it for a good price. I just didn't want to take a bath.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
But you own old Ayn Thorough.
Andy Cortez
I bought a purple one. Translucent. Not as translucent as I wanted it to be. You know, all the transparency.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I buy it off you.
Andy Cortez
It's already sold to Disruptoid. John Fick. John Shout out to John Fick.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
John Fickle. More like.
Andy Cortez
Got it all set up and I'm very, very excited to keep on going with it. Snowback Mike. We are also joined by who is the topic of today's show because Snowback
Mike
Mike, thanks for having me.
Andy Cortez
Played Zelda Ocarina of Time. So Mike. Mike is playing Majora's mask right now, all watchable on his Twitch channel and his YouTube channel. And also he's very wet right now.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Really wet.
Mike
I'm really sad to say that I've forgotten everything about Ocarina of Time.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
How is that possible?
Mike
You didn't catch me at the right time. And you know the rules.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I know people still want us to review Dark Souls. I got a bear.
Mike
You know what I mean? That trap is ready to bust. And it's like, I open it up, here's the moment you want all the knowledge about. Three days later, foot gets in the trap, it's gone. I lost everything.
Andy Cortez
I'll tell you what I mean. I'm. I'm dealing with that too, Mike. And blessed because Barrett walks up to me every day and says, here's where at near. And I go, where is that? I bring up my game, I bring up my gameplay. I'm like, that's where we're at. So I just asked him something today that I was scared to spoil anything, so I skirted around it and I had to like, Google it off to the side so that I didn't spoil anything for him.
Barrett
I'm in the the C playthrough for
Blessing Adioye Jr.
people wondering, you played near what, a month ago? A couple months ago, when you would come in and Bear has been doing this too of like saying, oh, yeah, I hit this place in the air. But for you, it's been a couple months. It's been nine years for me since I played Nier. And so whenever you guys say something, I have to like pause and be like, I don't even remember that happening. Like, I couldn't. I could barely recap the story of deer for you. I'm overdue for a replay through well
Andy Cortez
under, you know, as we're going to eventually get to our Ocarina. Ocarina of Time remake or Ocarina of Time review. And then later on kind of remake discussion as we start playthrough battle in Nier Automata. Because back when I remembered beating playthrough A, when the game first came out, I beat played through A, I started B and went, oh, I'm just gonna play as the dude as 9s the whole way through. I. I don't know if I got time for that. So I didn't do it all the way. But I totally forgotten that you start off as one of the robots.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And there was people in chat going, andy, this was not interesting enough for you to keep going. I was like, yeah, you're right. I up. Yeah. Yeah, you're definitely right.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's crazy.
Sponsor/Ad Voice
Crazy.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. You don't immediately start off as 9s.
Mike
Yeah.
Barrett
And he's trying to help his brother.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Barrett
And 9s is like, machines can't be brothers.
Andy Cortez
Oh, man. Oh, man, what a game, dude.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I feel like we'll be able to help you out with. With Zelda Ocarina, with remembering last thing.
Mike
You know, once I pop the top, it's going to go off.
Andy Cortez
Okay. Pop the top.
Mike
Like, once I get in the. The flow state, it has been like,
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I think I played ocarina 16 years ago.
Andy Cortez
About 25 years for me.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I played it. I played it late as well.
Mike
Came out in 1998.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
On the N64. My mind is blown playing this today, thinking, wow, kids were playing this on the N64 and they were also solving all the puzzles and the dungeons. There were moments where I was head scratching those moments where I was like, there's no way anyone could solve this problem.
Andy Cortez
Primus strategy, guys.
Mike
Are you kidding? Exactly.
Andy Cortez
They went hard and I use them for mainly drawing, but a lot of it was also secret solving because I never had a 64 growing up.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Okay.
Andy Cortez
I had gotten the PS1. This was my. This is my Thea's. My Thea bought the 64 and she and my brother were primarily the ones playing it. And I was off to the side and I'd get handed the controller every now and then, but I was mainly drawing and just absorbing every single song that could ever be, you know, absorbed from that soundtrack. Because I think it's one of the best soundtracks of all time. But if you're watching live, you could be a part of our show by super chatting over on YouTube.com forward/kind of funny games. Remember, we couldn't do this without our producers on patreon.com forward slash. Kind of funny. So thank you to Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney the Psalm Twining. No more dilly dallying, everybody. Let's start with topic of the show. Snowbike. Mike reviews the Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time, a 1998 classic. One of the highest reviewed games ever.
Mike
I believe it's the top Metacritic reviewed game. When I go to Metacritic. It's number one when you go to the highest scores.
Andy Cortez
A game that just, you know, opened up so many people's imaginations and introduced a lot of people to the fantasy genre, period.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh, I mean, genre defining.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What do you want to say? I mean, especially in video games, obviously.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
But when you talk about the fantasy genre. Yes. But when you talk about action adventure in a 3D video game, I think Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time is the one that you need to point to as far as this is the game that set the tone going forward
Mike
and set the blueprint for so many games after as well. Blessing that I'm playing this now, going, oh, wow, look at all the stuff that they were doing and like, what I'm doing in the modern day of gaming and like, enjoy. A lot of that was here in this game. Yeah. And it's impressive.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I mean, I remember back in the day before, because I again, I played ocarina in like 2010, 2011, somewhere around that allegedly might have played it on keyboard. Mouse. Not mouse, actually, just keyboard. Because there's this emulator that many people know called Project 64 that I had learned about at that time and was like, hold on, you're saying I can play anything? Like any N64?
Andy Cortez
Mind blowing.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I could play anything on my laptop while I'm in college between classes. And so I was like, well, I'm gonna play Ocarina. Cause I never played Ocarina. And back before that, my friends would get into arguments about the greatest game of all time. Is it Zelda, Ocarina of Time, or is it Final Fantasy vii? Oh, that was always the back and forth. And my friend Stevie was always like, Final Fantasy 7 is the best game of all time. And I'm always like, yeah, but I hear people talking about Ocarina, though. You know, people are saying that Ocarina is the one. So I had to play Ocarina. And like, Mike, I'm really excited to hear you talk about it.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. I mean, what are your thoughts? I mean, we're talking about a game that when you look at from that, you put yourself back in your shoes as a kid. And the first time you see Mario 64, it feels like you are seeing something that is like a technology that shouldn't be allowed to exist. Mario 60. I'm sitting in my grandpa's house with my Thea's Nintendo 64. They're plugged in because they were visiting from Austin. And I'm like, dad, look at. He's running everywhere. Are you shitting me? This is unbelievable. Remember that? That's the same dude running left to right on. On my screen here. He's running all over the place. And then to get. And then your mind starts going wild and goes, what if they do this with Zelda? Because Link to the past was so special to me. And then to see the ocarina of time come out and go, oh, my God, this is one of the coolest things ever. And you're playing music on a little instrument called an ocarina. This is unbelievable. It was just one of those extremely special games that is very, very special for a lot of reasons. Snowbike, Mike, what brought you to playing this game?
Mike
Yeah, I mean, let's set the tone here. Of course, as many of you know, in my kind of funny journey and my gaming journey, I was a big N64 kid. Me and my little brother got a PS1 from grandma for Christmas one year. And when we went into blockbuster, the PS1 had just released, so there wasn't enough games on the PS1, and there was more games on the N64. So. So we asked mom. We begged mom to trade in the PS1 for an N64. Bad decision at the end of the day because it was the end of the life cycle, but it was a great decision because it was a childhood treasure that we never gave up. We still have it to this day.
Barrett
And I love.
Mike
But it's crazy that my N64 journey was none of the first party staples that everybody knows. I didn't play Mario 64. I didn't play Zelda.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Right.
Mike
I was playing, of course, Mario Kart, Mario Tennis, Mario Party, but we were playing Craig Griffey Jr. Baseball conquered bad fur day, right? Glover 64.
Andy Cortez
Glover.
Mike
Glover. I was playing everything that was not Zelda and Mario. Donkey Kong 64 had that.
Andy Cortez
Of course, Mike said that's too mainstream. I'm not a. I'm not a. Never played a normie.
Mike
Saw the cool case, the. The all gold, you know, N64 case. But, like, never played it. And as many of you know as well, we've made the joke. You know, I thought Kirby was just a Super Smash Bros. Character. And then I played Forgotten Land. Fell in love with that one.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Now, did you. Did you own rated Rumble Boxing?
Mike
Of course.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Okay. I know exactly the kind of kid you are because I had a. There was somebody in my neighborhood that was exactly like you. Where I would go over to his house. He had an N64. Had no first party games.
Mike
Exactly. And you're like, what's going on?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
He had like an MX versus ATV offroad game, though. He had Ready to Rumble Box, Carve
Mike
Madden or whatever that club.
Andy Cortez
Plus that was most kids.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
He had Star Wars Racer, had that, which was great.
Mike
Everybody snowboard kids.
Andy Cortez
You look at their snowboard kids too. Oh, yeah. You look at their collection, you go, why do you have Bomberman? But not.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, where's Mario?
Andy Cortez
Where's Mario?
Mike
So, yeah, with Zelda. And it's like I've had the funny joke of, like, I thought Zelda was Link for the longest time. Right. I thought a lot of these characters just Smash Bros characters. And then over time, I've decided to try a little more and more and step out of my comfort zone. A lot of people saw here and kind of funny. I tried a little bit of Breath of the Wild, a little bit of Tears of the Kingdom. Never stuck with them. So this is my first ever Zelda game to completion. This is my first ever time saying, I'm going to see this all the way through and do it.
Andy Cortez
Do you think you stuck with it because it was more structured and not as. Just open as the Tears and Breath of the Wild?
Mike
Yeah. More story to carry me along. It was the narrative that brought me along. Right. Like we're playing a. A game from 1998 on the N64. Right. Like, it's not the most modern of controls. It is very fun to play still. It holds up to this day. But, like, it's not like, hey, here's Breath of the Wild. I think any kid's gonna choose that over this game in a heartbeat of, like, just more fun to play. It's cool. It has different things going on, but the narrative is what brought me along where I was like, oh, I'm committed to trying this and, like, want to see it. I chose this because it is the highest rated game on Metacritic. I was like, oh, that's crazy. I've never played it. Let's give it a try, see what happens. And yeah, from the moment, go from the Deku Tree, the roots of the Deku Tree to Finding out that, just so you know, Chad, this is a snowbike. Mike, spoiler cast. I'm going to go full spoilers on this, Okay. I think I'm going to ruin this.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
It's very okay to spoil.
Mike
Yeah. Ready? I'm going to ruin this. If you're waiting for the remake, you better start.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
It's Star Wars. Episode Star wars was called Empire Strikes Back. Everybody knows.
Mike
From the roots of the deku tree to finding out that my main man Link isn't one of the forest elves, okay? And he has to go on an epic journey. He's got to go save the kingdom of Hyrule. And the dying breath of the Deu tree says, go forth.
Andy Cortez
When I was a kid, I always wondered where. Where are the parents for the Kokiri kids? Where are they at?
Mike
This kids forever dude. Because they don't go tree. Yeah. De trees. The. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Also this. This is one of those games that you grow up and then you hear people pronounce things in the game and you go, damn. There was no spoken word back then. So to me, this. I always said Kokiri. And I've heard some people go, kyrie. And it's one of those weird ones where people would say deu tree and like that.
Mike
Kiri, Mike, it's Kiri.
Andy Cortez
Definitely.
Mike
I was yelling Kyrie a lot.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah. For me, Ocarina was the one where I would. I think I would say ocarina. Ocarina.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
And then I would hear. Hear people say ocarina. I'm like, oh, interesting. Macarena.
Mike
A lot of that. Yeah. And so, like, from the moment, go, you're just involved in this incredible story, right? And you know, your girlfriend at the time hands you the first Ocarina. And I'm like, what is this little device? What is this Recorder?
Andy Cortez
Syria.
Mike
You know her?
Andy Cortez
Sorry.
Mike
And she's.
Andy Cortez
See, there's another one.
Mike
Soraya, I can't leave the forest. You got to go. And he goes off on his journey right then and there with Navi, his, of course, incredible little guide, which is a lot of fun. A lot of people were like, mike, you got a Z target. And then you can actually highlight Na' Vi to tell you what's going on in the world. Rarely ever use that.
Andy Cortez
We don't. We don't do the tut.
Mike
I don't need the tut. I don't need the tut. I'll tell you what tut. I needed Majora's mask. You need to follow the tut on that lot going on in that game. We'll talk about that another time. Off on this journey, go to Hyru Castle and immediately you get greeted with the coolest Jabroni ever. Two people. Well, one, which is because this the the opening cut scene or not the cutscene, but like the. The title menu does like a bunch of like cool like moments from the game. So they spoiled me with this Jabroni in a mask and an awesome outfit that I've seen in Smash Bros. Chic. And I was like, yo, who's that Jabroni? I want to know more about that super cool, incredible reveal. We'll get to that later on. But you get met with Impa.
Andy Cortez
Impa. Yeah.
Mike
Who is Zelda's bodyguard. Princess Zelda's bodyguard and watcher. And keeper. So cool. She's badass. The whole setup of like, you're walking in, you don't know anyone, no one knows you. But so they got a feeling like this guy, he might be the guy special. And then the dwarf shows up. Ganondorf. First time ever seeing this guy. Yeah. Imposing, big.
Andy Cortez
You remember him from Smash show, right?
Mike
Yeah, a little bit. I never really played as him. Not many people in my circle ever played as Ganondorf. You know, I mean Nintendo as well. Blessing. You know the rules.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Nintendo.
Mike
Here's $20. Unlock all the characters.
Andy Cortez
Give them all to me.
Mike
Just give them all to me.
Andy Cortez
How do I gotta watch?
Mike
I'm so sick of it. Bless.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Even in their free to play Pokemon game, they don't have my versions.
Mike
You know who got me?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What's that Kiln?
Mike
They got me good. You ready for this? I'm making padre last night, Andy. I think, hey, I'm gonna have a nice zone out mindful minute, Mike stream. We're going to make pottery. I'm like, oh, double fines. Got it. They make this incredible pottery mechanics. I'll do it. It's an open beta, comes out later this month. Right around the corner, I go to the step up to the wheel thinking, oh, I'll have all the things unlocked, all the special tools, the different pottery mechanics. No, they locked it behind level gates, which means you have to jump in to the Pottery Brawler party game to then level up to then earn what I wanted, right? So I couldn't get the straight edge tool. I couldn't get the finger press to make everything wobbly and fun. Couldn't use the sponge. Had to level up and play.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Could you swipe the card?
Mike
I. I said, hey, double fine. If you want to make 20 bucks really quick, I'll give you 20.
Andy Cortez
I got you. I got a quick 20 for you.
Mike
Call the pottery stuff for me. Great stuff, but very, very fun. Of course. Meeting Ganondorf for the first time. Princess Zelda looking through the window. Having that conversation with you of like, hey, this guy's up to no good. He wants to rule the kingdom. We gotta stop him. And then you go off on your epic quest. Was amazing. Wow.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Wow.
Andy Cortez
What else you gotta say?
Mike
I mean, the dungeons, the characters.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, let's.
Mike
Let's start just so special.
Andy Cortez
Right? I would love to start with.
Mike
And also, why are they calling it Death Mountain? You know, that's an intimidating name for a child's. Cool as hell.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah. Intimidating place.
Andy Cortez
You know, it's cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Does it have, like a volcano in. In Ocarina? I'm thinking of Breath of the Wild's Death Mountain. That is very much like.
Mike
Yeah, I guess, like at its core, when you go in there, there is lava and stuff. So.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, like, I feel like that's.
Mike
It is a volcano. Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Vibes.
Mike
It's not like active, like blowing up, but like. Yeah, there's multiple.
Barrett
It is a little bit in the adult link where you have to like, cross the way and it's blown all the, like, magma rocks at you.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I feel like if I'm coming up in a civilization and we learn about a volcano for the first time, and we were like, oh, yeah, there's a mountain there, but, like, in the center of it is fucking molten lava. That'll kill you. If you asked me for a name for that thing, I'm probably gonna call it.
Mike
That's probably.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's probably Death Mountain over there.
Andy Cortez
Mike, what was the hardest thing for you to get used to and acclimated to? Because we're talking about a very old video game that operates and works way differently than what you would expect. What took you the longest to kind of get over the hump?
Mike
Yeah, you'd be surprised. Nothing.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
I'm just a gamer.
Andy Cortez
Gamer.
Mike
Absolutely. Absorbed everything. You know what was the hardest thing for me was remembering the Ocarina melodies. I hated that I had to go to the menu because there's 12, maybe eight of them, maybe 16. Right. Because it goes like, there's the top ones that do things and then the bottom ones, which are your teleports. Right. And it's like I could never memorize the eight pattern button press that I had to do with the six pattern button press. I would go to the menu, look at it, literally get out of the menu. Forget it. By that moment Right.
Andy Cortez
You didn't do any naming, like, sort of naming devices
Mike
left up, right? No, I didn't think of that. I didn't think of that. But I did love the beats. The music was fantastic. And so, yeah, I forgot so many of these. In the modern day, if we talk about, like, a remake later on, it would be, hey, I just want to press this in the menu automatically. Play it for me.
Andy Cortez
I didn't know that's.
Mike
I didn't want. I don't want to remember. I don't remember. That was the only thing that held me up during this.
Andy Cortez
Damn, this is looking surprisingly crispy.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What would you. What were you doing here? Were these mods allegedly?
Mike
No, I was on the switch, having a great time.
Andy Cortez
Okay. Okay, sure. Real.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Chris, what were your favorite moments of the game?
Mike
Becoming best friends with the Goron King.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Okay, okay.
Mike
He named his son after you. Pretty amazing, right? Because you saved a day.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
He names his kid after you. And then the hardest part was saying goodbye to all these characters that I fell in love with. Right. The Goron King loved this jabroni. Me and him have this ultimate bromance, right? Of like, yo, something's going down in the center of this mountain. I need you to come help me and stop this. And, like, we'll do it together. We saved the day. And he's like, guess what? I have to now become a sage. Because you need six sages, possibly more, to lock Ganondorf away in the realm, in the secret realm. And so, like, the moment that me and this guy become best friends, and then he's like, oh, I've now become the Fire Sage. Here's my medallion. Goodbye. It's like, no, bro, absolutely not. We just became best friends. But then you travel back and it turns out he named his kid after you because you saved the day. I thought that was pretty cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What do you think of the time jump?
Mike
Time jump was pretty wicked. You know, my first time with the master sword.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
So that was a big deal. You know, a little underwhelming at first. I'll tell you what I think.
Andy Cortez
You mean like discovering them getting the master sword?
Mike
Yeah, when you get the master sword. At first, I don't think there was, like, a. Maybe I forgot it already. It wasn't a huge, like, moment or anything for me, of, like, I pulled it out of the stone, I think, because he goes to sleep for seven years and then wakes up as an adult, right? So it's like, I. I don't know. I don't remember the master Sword being all that epic. I was guessing my mind when you think the master sword and all the tales of all these games, I thought it would be the most epic scene I've ever seen in my life.
Andy Cortez
Gotcha. Okay.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Something about being in like the Castle Kingdom post time jump and like seeing like the zombified people walking around and
Andy Cortez
how like dark and the redead, the read like that what they're called.
Mike
Yeah, yeah, they were nasty. Jump on you and suck on you.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
There's something about this image that's still kind of like it doesn't sit well
Andy Cortez
with me and I still love like again, it's such, such a throwback to just you know, pre rendered backgrounds and.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
You know, just these weird kind of JPEG images on the screen that you're kind of walking around it. It's just such a call back to old school game development and how they, you know, figured out tricks and things like that. But the redeads were absolutely the most horrifying thing as a kid.
Mike
100% experiencing these copy hold on to you. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And the screen that they let out. Oh, the worst.
Mike
Oh, and then kind of shock you too and you couldn't move for a second. That's how they got closer. Yeah. The worst is right. Very cool moment there. Like you said, after Ganondorf has taken over for seven years and it's just destroying everything, it is really cool to come back to Hyrule Castle and just be absolutely destroyed. His own castle now is pretty badass. It's cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I want, I want to hear about your favorite dungeons.
Mike
Favorite dungeons. Great question. Bless. I liked the Water temple a lot. It was challenging and frustrating, but I enjoyed that. Right. I thought that was like a cool moment of like, hey, we went from Death Mountain because it goes Death Mountain right into the first water Temple. So it's like, oh, that was a cool like, hey, this is how it can be complicated and frustrating. Let's see what else they built. Loved the one. Probably the Shadow Temple, I think is what it's called where you use the lens of truth to find the holes on the ground and make sure you don't fall in love. The Lens of Truth. Okay, if you look at my thumbnail, the lens of Truth. Maybe two best friends golfing. Because that's the truth.
Andy Cortez
What does that mean? I don't know.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I had no idea what he's talking about.
Andy Cortez
So what was your favorite item besides the lens of truth? Are there any moments where you went, oh, I love this hook shot or I love this bookshot was cool.
Mike
Like the hook shot a lot. You like that?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I remember exactly. That's a good one.
Mike
I'm getting really good with thumbnails now. Eddie, look at. Go into my pottery one really quick. I'm learning now to put layers on top of layers.
Andy Cortez
Oh, look at that. Learning put layers on double layers on top of layers.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's how Photoshop works.
Mike
What I was doing is I just take my face, I put it on there and then just like poorly erase things and hope that it would look good. Now I'm doubling the layer that I want to use it on my face sandwiched in the middle like an Oreo.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
And then I erase the top layer so then I'm not messing it all up.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I like that.
Andy Cortez
Tell you what I mean, I told you about masks before and how to be non destructive.
Mike
They taught me some really cool stuff and I forgot.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mike
Bless. I mean, what were some other things? I like Andy. I like the reflector shield. I thought that was cool with the light. That. That was really fun. The hook shot was great. I really. When you're a kid, you have the boomerang. Yeah. Really let down. I thought I would use the boomerang all the time. So it did suck to like lose the boomerang quite quickly. That was a very underutilized weapon there. Or just like, tool. It felt like a lot of the kids stuff, the slingshot, the boomerang, the torches were cool. I liked the torches with the stick, the deku sticks that you turn into torches. But, like, it was surprising. Like the boomerang. I started doing some crazy stuff with. I was gonna save that kid that turned into a tarantula. So I was on the path of getting all the golden trees.
Andy Cortez
Oh, yeah.
Mike
And so I was whipping the boomerang and then people would be like, oh, Mike. But like, how are you gonna get that? And I'd whip the boomerang back at it and would pull it towards me. Like the hook shots, they're like, I don't know if that's how it's supposed to actually work. And I was like, don't worry about it.
Andy Cortez
Like, that must be a mod thing.
Mike
I was like, this thing is sick. Right? So, yeah, once let down, it's like, I thought adult Link would use the boomerang. He uses it in Smash Bros. Yeah. Kind of let down by that.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
He does, yeah.
Andy Cortez
I always loved, as a kid just getting the different color schemes for Link. Oh, I wish they pushed that further because, like, you know, obviously you. You use the blue Tunic to, you know, be in the water. And the red tunic is like fire or heat burn resistant, whatever the hell. But I was always hoping, as somebody who, you know, just loved the idea of costume changes because of like Mega Man X and just upgrading that stuff. I was always hoping that by the end of it, when we're fighting again, we're like in, in a. In a white or like some sort of like golden kind of.
Mike
In other Zelda games, do they mess with costumes like that?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I mean, breath of Wild and constantly.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, for sure.
Mike
But really, you can mess with the outfit like that colorways and stuff. That's cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Well, not even colorways.
Andy Cortez
It's just.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I think you're just rocking.
Andy Cortez
You're just wearing different clothes.
Barrett
But there is also a shop where you can go and dye all of the like pretty much anything that pick up that is like a armored set.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Barrett
And change the color.
Mike
Yeah, I mean, red and blue stand out. It is very cool to like change out of the green. I think the green is still the top color for me because I just like green. But I mean, blue being able to now breathe and swim underwater. Right. You learn how to dive deeper, then you get the boots that allow you to walk underwater. I thought that was super sick. Oh my God. Did the princess get eaten by her own fathers? When I was on for a while and then I was like, no, it was the God of the, you know, Jabu, Jabu, Jabu, Jabu. Which was super cool.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Mike
And then she was like, hey, we're engaged now because you have my mother's ring. And I was like, that's pretty sick. I really like that. You know what I mean? Good.
Andy Cortez
Now, as we get near to. As we get near the end of the video game, what are your thoughts regarding Ganondorf? We get that Ganondorf second phase turning into Ganon. What are your thoughts there as far as, like, how influential it's been to other stuff in gaming?
Mike
Well. Oh, the second phase. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, it was super wicked awesome. I. I thought his second phase form was very cool looking as well. I love the tennis back and forth volley. I just didn't think about that when it was finally time. Because you don't do the tennis volley for so long that when it was finally time, I'm like, am I supposed to reflect it with the shield? Am I just running in circles? What am I doing here? And then someone had to poke me and be like, you're supposed to reflect it back, Mike. Like swing away. And I, I do like that though working up that volley, going faster and faster. He's eliminating different pieces of the floorboard around you like it's goddamn fall guys. And you're trying to navigate that. And then. Yeah, it becomes Super Ganon at the end. Super cool.
Andy Cortez
I would like to ask you to rank some things. Yeah, I would like you to. I would like to ask you to rank.
Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
The best boss. The best bosses based on their looks. And the best boss fights in terms of mechanics, the ones that you enjoyed playing the most.
Mike
Okay, do we have a list of those?
Andy Cortez
We have. The first one is Queen Goma, who's the big ceiling crawler in Deku Tree.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
After that we got Dodongo.
Mike
Oh, the Dodongos.
Andy Cortez
We got Volvagia, which is also like. That was around the time I learned the word vulva. So I was like, what is that
Barrett
parasite inside Jabu.
Mike
Jabu.
Andy Cortez
Ah, of course. We got Bongo Bongo.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
See, Bongo Bongo.
Mike
Bongo Bongo was cool. That was the shadow one, right?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
The hands.
Mike
Yeah, the hands. Shadow. Yeah, Shadow Temple.
Andy Cortez
That was cool to me. The coolest one, just based on the name alone was Twin Roa. I was always just so in love with the name of that old lady.
Mike
Twins turning into the baddest lady on the planet.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
This right here is a game showdown segment. Cuz, like, if you gave me the images and the names of the bosses, I this I would not get 100%.
Andy Cortez
No, me either.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I would not get it.
Andy Cortez
Me either. Yeah, I'm just looking at the images here on A. On ZeldaDungeon.net I'll send it through to Assets.
Mike
Yeah, put it in Assets. I'll take a look and we can rank them there.
Andy Cortez
We also have Barinade, which is like that kind of jellyfish one with the kind of like a weird underwater sort of thing.
Barrett
Oh, see, Barinade was the one that I'm. I think I was thinking of for Jabu Jabu. But my favorite is Phantom Ganon.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I mean, come on.
Barrett
That one's so cool. Him popping into the paintings and then like, you have to figure out which one he's gonna pop out of. So sick.
Andy Cortez
Little.
Mike
Just quick, like, jump to Majora's mask, bro. How about the goat? The goat fight, Andy? Very Dark Souls ask.
Andy Cortez
I never played. I never played.
Mike
Oh, remember the Chariot fight in Dark Souls? We ran in the circle and the Chariot was chasing you around. Which Dark Souls one was that? You know what it is? See, The Dark Souls 2. Two was the chariot fight. Yeah, I like so much. Yeah, they got that in Zelda Majora's mask.
Andy Cortez
Oh, okay.
Mike
This guy that turns into a giant goat, chases you in a circle. Super sick.
Andy Cortez
Nice.
Mike
Really, really like that. If I'm looking at all this, I mean, of course it's Gannon. So, yeah, I mean, it's. You go, oh, shucks. Phantom Gannon into Gannon, and then Ganondorf Twin Rover. In terms of looks, Bongo Bongo for just looks and fun. Those, like, the highlights out there.
Andy Cortez
I always thought Morpho was sick as Volvagia was cool.
Mike
I mean, it was. It's impressive. The game is just good. It holds up to this day.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Did the Chic reveal. Surprise.
Mike
You blew my mind, really, When I first saw Chic.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
No idea who this person is, but you're cool. I have no backstory at all.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's amazing that you didn't know that.
Mike
I'm thinking it's Zelda's mother or Link's mother, because, like, you get the whole reveal at the Deku Tree of, like, Link, your mom dropped you off at my roots. Very Aerith.
Barrett
Like, it's not a bad guess.
Mike
Very Aerith. Like, of like, hey, back in the day, you were dropped here by your mother. She was critically injured. Like, she couldn't go on. She left you with us in the Forest Fairies. She knew that you would go far, and you're just not one of us. You got to go out there. And then I'm like, oh, who's this lady that just keeps showing up, right? She's got the cool hair coming out of the mask. I got no idea she's badass. I'm like, okay, I didn't know it was a lady. Link's a badass ass.
Andy Cortez
And growing up, I just thought it was a cool dude with, like, the sickest hair ever. I was like, I want that hair rib set off.
Mike
And it's goddamn Princess Zelda the Cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I'm shocked you didn't know. Kebabs in Chat says what's cool is that not even Smash spoils this. No, they do. Cuz if you pick Zelda in, I think, SMASH Brawl. Okay. Pretty sure her Down Beach Trans, or maybe her ultimate. One of those things transforms her into Chic.
Andy Cortez
I don't even know that.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Really?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I don't remember that.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Unless I misremembering. I mean.
Andy Cortez
No, you're. You're. I mean, it's. I'm just saying I have a bad memory, so that doesn't even, like, click.
Mike
It's crazy because I've played years of Smash bros. And people. Like, we've yelled chic before, but I didn't know who.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah. Okay. People are saying she doesn't melee. Yeah.
Mike
Her down.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
B transformed her into she. So I assumed that everybody knew this.
Mike
Oh, no. I. It was a major reveal. It was an awesome that. I mean, the game go broke, right?
Andy Cortez
Because the game came out so long ago. And like, they have this woman be this powerful character.
Mike
And I finally learned what they. The triforce is and means. I never even knew what the triforce was. People getting tattooed.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What are the three?
Andy Cortez
What are the three?
Mike
Three is wisdom, courage and strength.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Power, I believe power.
Mike
I like that. And then they're the three golden goddesses who made the world of Hyrule super sick. And then we got. Oh, you got it.
Andy Cortez
Jin and I didn't know they had names. Well, I'm blinking. Barrett knows this.
Mike
Yeah.
Barrett
Now I'm stuck on the.
Andy Cortez
Don't look at chat. Nobody look at chat. I already looked at it. Nobody look at chat. You looked at it.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Well, I. I think. Well, okay.
Andy Cortez
It's N A Y R U. Right? For one of them.
Mike
Yeah.
Barrett
I've always said.
Mike
Yeah, yeah.
Andy Cortez
Gin. Is. Is Jin not one of them Is. You're close. I was one of. It's.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
It's. You're close.
Mike
Put a D on it.
Andy Cortez
I'm gonna look it in.
Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Oh, Din. Din For.
Mike
And then the reveal that Gannon goes and. Because the. The what? The room of wisdom, or the. The sacred realm is open. Right. Or whatever. That's where the triforce was. Gannon touches it, but he's not in balance with the golden triangle. You gotta be about.
Andy Cortez
You have to be in the Golden Triangle. Yeah.
Mike
And he grabs it and it's like, no, you're not worthy because you're not in balance. Right. But we'll give you the power. But then strength and wisdom will go off to the. The people that are selected that are destined for this and who has it on their hands. It's Link and Princess Zelda. Epic.
Barrett
So cool.
Mike
Awesome. What a great.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
See, you're making me want the movie. This is the first time I'm like, ah, I kind of want that.
Mike
Unbelievable that these three will be entwined and entangled together for the rest of time, bro. Yeah. Like, it's so epic. Right? And so then he's like, he. He's. He's tracking wherever Link goes, waiting for the perfect moment. Then traps both of them, captures Princess Zelda. He's like, here's the deal. I'm fucking chopping off your Guys's hands because I'm getting this triforce and they're like, no, no, man, you're not.
Andy Cortez
No, I have light arrows. Big. So good. Yeah.
Mike
Or the Gerudo desert, man. Oh, my gosh. And all the lady assassins.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
Ganondorf is the one male born every 100 years. That's crazy, man.
Andy Cortez
The Zelda movie, some Dune.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
The Zelda movie has the opportunity to bang. And I'm scared that it's not going to. But if they lock in.
Mike
If you play this game right now like I just did and you, you see it though, you get lost in the narrative. It's hard for me. It's like a first time fan. Like, this movie isn't gonna be the coolest thing ever, bro. Like, this is gonna be a blast.
Andy Cortez
Bless. I need you to understand that. Now you know what it's like to have watched Fellowship of the Ring.
Mike
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Which is an amazing in review. Everybody go watch it. Because we're all pushing to get blessed Joey. To watch Two Towers and Return to the King next. But to watch Fellowship Ring and go. Can you imagine if they made a Zelda movie like this with the props, with the. The awesome, like, makeup for the orcs and all? Oh, my God. It would be the coolest shit ever.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Now, Mike, what do you know about the Zelda timeline?
Mike
I have my timeline as of right now as a new player into the Zelda world. I know one timeline which is my timeline that I have started. And I don't know where it falls in the real world, but I've told Barrett this of like. My timeline as of right now is as follows. It is the Ocarina of Time timeline. Link has gone out and saved Hyrule.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
He's become the hero of time. Right at the end of the story, he, Zelda and Link banish Ganondorf to the sacred Realm where he is now banished. Zelda says, hey, I feel bad I took your childhood away from you. I'm going to cast you back seven years ago and you will be a child again. Which then happens. We rewind time and we like actually rewind time where Ganon is in the castle right there. Princess Zelda's here. Link is a young man, young boy, and I'm going off on the next adventure. That's my timeline as of right now.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Love that. I'm not going to get deeper into it because the Zelda. I think at the end of the day, the Zelda timeline is kind of fucked because Nintendo doesn't take it that seriously. But I think It's a fun idea of, like, when you look into Ocarina and the story of Ocarina and the timey Wimey stuff that happens. You then look at the following games in the preceding games, and people place, like, where those games happen according to a couple of things where you talk about what you. What you did, right? Which, like, you look at that and it's all right. And Majora's Mask might come right after that because of the way you interpreted that. But if you go back and look at the events, like, there's a split that can happen. I think it's when you jump forward in time, Barrett. Is it like when you jump forward that seven years?
Barrett
No, it's the split happens when. Or I assume what you're leading to is, like, when Zelda takes. Puts Link back in time at the end of the game. That's where the split technically happens.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's where the split happens, okay, Where
Barrett
Link gets sent back and goes off where Mike is at and goes on his Majora's Mask journey. But the timeline where adult Zelda is where they don't have a Link anymore that splinters off into going into Wind Waker. And the thing, the fun thing that, like, about that stuff back in the back in the day is that, like, they did actually, like, like, flesh that out a bit in their intros, right? Like, the beginning of Wind Waker is talking about, like, oh, yeah, like, you know, we no longer had the hero of time, so then everything got up again. So, yeah, it's fun, but it's like,
Mike
yeah, so there's a timeline where Princess Zelda puts Link back in time and they've captured Ganon, and that timeline just keeps going. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Mike
Wow.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's the Wind Waker timeline.
Andy Cortez
Bless. Did you say timey Wimey? Because Roger said it like, five times on our Returnal or the Sorrows podcast. No, I never heard anybody say timey. Why me? But during the Sorrows preview, Roger kept saying, like, things are kind of weird out there. It's timey why me? Stuff. And I never heard that.
Barrett
Like, is he a big Doctor who
Andy Cortez
head, or is that where it's from? Yeah, that's right.
Mike
Oh, interesting.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Okay, I get timey. Why me? Because I listen. Like, I've listened to a lot of Marvel podcasts, and whenever they talk about mcu, the current phase, doing a bunch of timing. Why me? That's how they describe it.
Andy Cortez
I'd never heard that ever. Okay, fascinating. I thought it was just like a Roger thing.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I didn't Know it was from Dr. I'm gonna. Fun fact. I'm watching Dr. Who in a couple weeks.
Mike
Really? Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Some of my friends are super. They're big who fans.
Mike
Okay.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
And they have roped me.
Mike
If you fall in love, I got some magic cards for you.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Mike
If you fall in love with it.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
You know, I'm trying to resist. Have you heard of Super Wholock?
Mike
No.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I once dated a girl who's super who, like, very, like. No, no.
Mike
She does lock it down.
Barrett
Really, really into Supernatural. Yes. Doctor who and Sherlock.
Andy Cortez
Sherlock.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh, and there's like, a Tumblr community
Mike
and of people that like ECW Universe. So I wasn't part of that.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah. See, I. I watch a lot.
Mike
Riverdale, Arrow, Flash. Those are my things. Don't do it.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Bless.
Andy Cortez
That's right above. That's right above. Like a horse girl.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
If you ever want to know the type of girls.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That I'll be talking to. For some reason, they're all into super Gulag.
Mike
Well, it's like, it's either that or it's the Dick Wolf Productions. You're either into Law and Order, svu. Yeah. Chicago Fire, Chicago Mad, and Chicago opd. You know, that's.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Somebody save me, Andy.
Mike
To finish it up before we go into the next segment and we go to AD Break. So many awesome characters. Some fun, like, side moments. The world being so large, feeling so large, but also so small. But, like, being able to go into the different sections was really cool. Loved the little ranch. I love the ranch story.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Right.
Mike
With Malone, the girl, her father who was just being lazy, and the guy who wanted to steal the ranch from him and then does that, and then wants to work for Ganon because he doesn't want to get killed. And then you steal the horse. That was great. You know what I mean?
Andy Cortez
I wish I had my keyboard here because I would have asked you who your AVPP was, your preferred partner. Who was your favorite side character, the one that you looked at. I said, that's my dog.
Mike
The Goron King. Yeah, that's my dog. That's my dude.
Andy Cortez
Right up.
Mike
Everything for him. Also the big. The big frog from the. The water temple. He's the king of the water temple area.
Andy Cortez
Okay. I don't remember. I'm linking on him.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Favorite tune. Your favorite song in the game.
Mike
Now I'll tell you. I don't know. Maybe I wasn't hearing it. Also, you're not telling me that kids were getting through the Lost Woods. Impossible. You're telling me that you walk into a jigsaw puzzle where you walk forward, presented with three doors, another door. It's like, here's another three options. Good luck. And you got to find the perfect pattern the first time they play the song, and you're like, oh, I got this. And then, like, the second time, it was like, you should hear the song. Like, there's no song being played. This is a guessing game. And that's like.
Andy Cortez
There's no better song than the Gerudo Valley song, though.
Mike
Oh, that one's really.
Andy Cortez
What's your favorite song, Brett?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Come on.
Andy Cortez
I like this one a lot.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
One of the best soundtracks of all
Barrett
time, by the way.
Mike
One of the best soundtracks.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
This soundtrack is amazing.
Mike
Now, Majora's Mask, I feel like, plays the Link theme or, like, the Zelda theme that I know from Smash a lot more than I felt like, okay, Ocarina of Time did. And maybe I'm wrong on that, but, like, it feels more at the forefront of, like, is playing all the time, which I like a lot, you know, because that song rocks if you're just a casual fan like me. But all this, all the music. Hey, who's on the track?
Andy Cortez
Koji Condo.
Mike
Whoa. This guy's got gaa.
Andy Cortez
He's got game, dude. Game dude.
Mike
This guy.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
This Poke guy.
Mike
Back up the truck. Give him whatever he wants.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That guy's whatever.
Mike
He so much game. But, yeah, like, this side quest, right, Kyle, over at the fishing area. Fishing at the lake. Like, that's so much fun. The Bombachu bowling. Bombachu bowling? That could be its own mini game, man. Or, like, it's on, like, just making the game. Remember back in the day? And then 64, they had that Astro bowling game.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
No, Astro bowling.
Mike
Yeah, I think.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I don't remember that.
Mike
I think people will know that one. It might have been Astro bowling. Some sort of galaxy space bowling game. Everybody knew about it, but Bombachu bowling. I love Bombachu bowling.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Mike
That is so much fun. Then the girl who's like, go get the chickens. And now I'm flying the chickens. That was great. I'm riding on the chickens. Love that kid. Stuck as a golden tarantula. Sorry Big dog didn't break that curse. That's my bad. But he did get my bag up. You know what I mean? My money bag was up because of him. So that's good.
Andy Cortez
I'll tell you a way for us to get our bag up. We will keep on, you know, experiencing and re. You know, re Experiencing a lot of these ocarina moments as we get into the next segment, but we will have to hear about a word from our sponsors first.

Let's get some super Chats going here as we hop into the Super Chat segment, as well as a future conversation we'll have in a bit regarding what do we want from the Ocarina of Time, rumored remake, and what should Mike play next?
Mike
We got to kind of have a Conversation. Where do I go next?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Unless you want to just go in order. You know, just go Majora Wind Waker, Twilight. But at some point you should play Twilight. That's my favorite.
Mike
Should I play a 2D Zelda game?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I mean, have you played Link to the Past?
Andy Cortez
Link between worlds is so super sick, dude. Momo says back again. Check out the Ocarina of Rhyme mixtape. Dope and classic hip hop album set to the Ocarina of Time. No, it's been around. That's an old one. I remember that being like maybe one of the first kind of fan albums that I, that I listened to that was like Ocarina Rhyme was probably like 2010 or something like that maybe.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
So many Chat said you should play Jet Force Gemini and I co signed that.
Andy Cortez
I think you should play Near Automata.
Mike
Okay, I'll just continue to add it to the list.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I'm gaming, you play. Jeff, watch Gemini.
Mike
It's crazy because like someone was like, oh, I wonder how much Mike played. Probably played like five hours. And I know it was a joke, but it's crazy to look back and be like, I have 12 videos that are all like averaging about three hours a pop. Like, I didn't know these games were that big. Oh, they look at how long to beat these games. It's like 25 to 32 hours is what they're averaging here. I didn't know they were so big. Yeah, my mind is blown. I'd love to go back now and like rewind time with the N64 and like, look at Kiddo Mike and be like, man, these games were so big. Like at the time they felt so small. There wasn't much to them. Ready to rumble. Boxing Gauntlet Legends was large, but like doesn't feel this large. No, I'm blown away by this stuff.
Andy Cortez
William Gordon says, have Mike tell you all about his one hour fight with Dark Link dude, how he thought the answer was for Dark League to kill him.
Mike
We didn't even talk about Dark Link, bro. Yeah, you get dropped into some Dark Souls. A lot of Dark Souls vibes in this, which is like very cool of like, oh man, I could see the future of like what people took inspiration from. It was like, I could do something like that. But you drop into an empty arena, you run forward, and then when you run back, you're greeted by Shadow Link and it's like, you have to conquer yourself. I'm like, what does that mean? And there I am swiping. He's swiping back, he's jumping on top of my sword. I don't know what's going on.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Mike, have you played Shadow, Colossus or Eco?
Mike
No, but I thought. I think of you every time I think of Shadow the Colossus. I'm like, I should probably.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I feel like you'd appreciate it when you talk about. Oh, I can see the inspirations that people are taking. I feel like ICO and Shadow or two.
Andy Cortez
That I was just say, I was just looking up right now. Allegedly. Emulators for SHAD, PS4 and the shadow Classes remake. Even though I know not everybody loves the Blue Point remakes much like they didn't. You know, there's some detractors when it comes to demon souls in the Shadow the Classes remakes, but I. That's one that I never got to. That I feel like.
Mike
So there I am. Losses can be. I'm swiping there, swiping. He's hitting me every time. Then I got into the frustration mode where it's like, I'll just swing as many times as possible. And you started hitting them every now and then you're like, oh, I'm clearly doing the right thing. I wasn't doing any of the right stuff. Then I said, how do you conquer yourself? You give yourself to your other self. You know what I mean, lover? And so I give in. I let it kill me. No, that wasn't the answer.
Andy Cortez
No, that wasn't the answer.
Mike
I still to this day don't know what the answer was.
Barrett
I. I think the best.
Mike
I don't remember what I did.
Barrett
His boss. This fight is like really cool idea wise. This is something I would love to see him like very much improved in the. In the remake. But like, I think the best answer is like the huge hammer stunt him.
Mike
And then the hammer tool. The hammer was cool. Bear. Yeah. And then like that.
Barrett
And then you kind of have like a moment to strike at him. It's not a fun fight.
Mike
Oh, and then the grapple hook would stun people. I liked the grapple shot with that. Yeah. I'm throwing Deku nuts at him, trying to blind him. You know what I mean? I have no idea.
Andy Cortez
Human nut here and there. I'm Godzordon with a five dollar super chat says, here's my birthday tax. Mike loved your streams. Please play Wind Waker after Majora Majora.
Mike
Wind Waker's got a very cool art style. Different art style to it, right. It always stands out. Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Wind Waker has.
Mike
Yeah, it's got very. I mean, compared to what we're looking
Blessing Adioye Jr.
at very cartoony different. Definitely a swerve when it came to like those 3D Zeldas where the audience is like, whoa, what's going on here?
Andy Cortez
It was definitely one of those big disappointments as a kid because they had teased at E3 the what Zelda could be like on this new tech and boat. And it was like. Like a much. It was kind of what you would expect from Ocarina. Just pushed further and you're like, whoa, this is like this looks so. And then. And then it was Wind Waker. And then a lot of the Community, like. And it's weird to even think about Community because I wasn't really entrenched in that way, but I just somehow knew that people were not happy that suddenly it's super cartoony and they went the opposite direction. And everybody was like, what the.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Metal gear solid 2.
Andy Cortez
Why'd you show us the other thing?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Starting riding instead of snakes. It's like one of those situations like that.
Barrett
Yeah, but we were all wrong at the time. Cuz that art style kicks ass. And you want to talk about horrifying redead. I think Wind Waker has the most horrifying redead.
Andy Cortez
E. Yeah. And so Miguel Baron says, nothing killed me harder than Mike forgetting he had the master sword. Three episodes of his playthrough later.
Mike
I thought it. There's like a vibe to like say master sword.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Mike, I'm with you.
Mike
And like everybody hypes it up and it's like you forget that you have it and then you. Then you're telling me I got to go get the giant sword from the Goron family.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
The Goron.
Mike
And then I get this giant sword and it's like, well, I don't even remember that I got the master sword anymore. Because the giant swords way cooler looking.
Barrett
You're completely right, Mike. And I will say I think Ocarina has the biggest wet fart. Is not the. Maybe a little too strong here, but like a lot of the other Zelda games, least hype. Yeah, it's the least hype. Like, and when you get the master sword, you are building up to it. And you know, you're building up to the up to it in those other games. The way they talk about it in Link to the Past and how you get that is fucking awesome. The way you like kind of build it in both Skyward Sword and Wind Waker is also really exciting as well. Like. Yeah, I'm with you.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
The master sword wasn't the master sword for me until I played Breath of the Wild. Because I jumped from Ocarina to twilight to breath. And like, that was the first moment where I was like, oh, shit, this is the master sword. Like, you're making a big deal out of this.
Mike
Who's got the best master sword? That's what I want to know.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I got a Zelda or just.
Mike
Yeah, like the biggest. Like, hey, this is the coolest lead up. This is the greatest reveal. This is the coolest pull. And then from that point forward, you feel like you have it. Because I will tell you, if you play Ocarina of Time, which what I remember here is you get the three medallions, the three jewels to open up the sacred realm. He walks up to the pedestal, pulls the sword. Not much fanfare because then you time travel. So it doesn't feel like, oh, this is the greatest sword on the. On the planet.
Barrett
The most powerful feeling, one I would say is linked to the past. I might get shit for this. And I know people have. Have their feelings about Skyward Sword. But like Mike, to spoil an aspect of Skyward Sword for you, a lot of that game is about making the master sword for the very first time. And that shit's really cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Andy Cortez
When we're making your lightsaber, let's get real.
Mike
Will I get the master sword? Majora's mask? I don't know. I have no idea what's happening in this game.
Andy Cortez
You have no idea what's going on?
Mike
I'm putting down Annie way too many. Are you.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Are you liking Majora's mask more than Ocarina? Because there's a light in your eyes when you're talking about majority.
Mike
Majora's mask is very fun.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah.
Mike
There's a. I think it might be the pressure of like, you get three days and it might be the countdown timer, like kind of dude that movie, like, you gotta move. You know what I mean? I do like that a lot. I really do like the temples. So far that I've seen, I've completed two temples, three full three day runs. I love the side stuff going on. I was going to highlight a lot of great side stuff in Ocarina of Time. The running guy who's like, you'll never beat me. It's like, I'm never going to beat that guy because he's just moving so fast. I don't know how to beat him. But like, now I'm going to become a mailman. I'm going to solve why this kid isn't at his wedding. Majora's mascot. Something cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Hell yeah.
Andy Cortez
Well, we have a rumored remake on the way for Ocarina of Time. Do we think we get a jump button?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Well, it depends on what. What is the remake? You know, like, are we talking about something that is almost like a Blue Point style? We're making the same game, but we're just making it look a lot prettier or are we reimagining?
Andy Cortez
I would personally not love that. I think that they have an opportunity here to not push it all the way into what we expect with modern. The modern mechanics and the weird kind of crazy mechanics of Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom. I would love for them to find ways to enhance some of these dungeons that they look back at and go, how could we make this better? How could we make this moment less frustrating? What could we do to kind of maybe surprise and delight the gamers who go, oh, this is just going to be a one for one remake. Oh, actually, never mind. They're kind of extending this in a way that. And they're capitalizing on this moment that could have been more hype. They are making this Master Sword moment even more exciting and more epic. I hope that they push it further. It's not just a visual remake. I don't think it'll be just a visual remake.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Has Nintendo ever done. I guess I'm just playing leafgreen. So this might actually answer my own question of have they done something that's more than just a visual remake? Have they done something that is reimagined outside of Pokemon?
Andy Cortez
Well, Super Mario 64, you could play as all the other characters. I don't know.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh, the 3DS version, People saying Metroid for what, Zero mission. Yeah.
Barrett
Link's Awakening is also just kind of like a visual.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Visual.
Andy Cortez
Huge visual.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I see Nintendo as a company that cares a lot about, like retaining that history. What's the word I'm looking for? Preservation. That's the word I'm looking for.
Andy Cortez
So I. I think they've preserved this game plenty, though.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I agree. But I wonder if they have the desire to. I wonder if they have like a fear almost of we know how classic the original is. And as Nintendo, we respect our own legacy so much that we don't want to like, alter it in any way. I'm team. I don't even know if that's the case.
Andy Cortez
I don't even think that they would bother remaking it, really. I don't think that they would want. You know, obviously it's money. It's gonna print money.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
And I think that movie. I think the movie is the reason why you do it.
Andy Cortez
But there's a part of me that. That I think for the moviegoers who are maybe going to end up playing this for the first time, may feel the archaic nature of it and say, this is the game you were talking about. You know, I think there's. There might be a worry there. Bear, do you think that you see any sort of pushing of mechanics and do we get a jump button? Because I personally, I can't imagine a modern Zelda game coming out now and not having a jump button in this 3D sort of fashion.
Barrett
I don't know in the way that you're talking about if we'll get a full jump button like that. Like, I think of the jumps, like, swipe from both Ocarina and, like, Wind Waker and stuff like that.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. I don't know.
Barrett
I think there's other ways to restructure and kind of think about puzzle and dungeon design that doesn't need to completely change. Kind of like the original vision of Ocarina while still trying to improve on it. Right. I would say that, like, I think Ocarina has some of the weakest dungeon design in the series. And so I would love for them to look back at even like, kind of the design ethos of dungeons from Link to the past and then what they did in future titles, especially in Twilight Princess, and try to, like, figure out some more interesting puzzles to, like, kind of lay out throughout these dungeons. And I don't. I don't think you need to do any of that by. And then introduce a button to jump that doesn't feel all too, like, necessary or important for this kind of game, you know?
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
For me, I. Zelda, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are two of my favorite games of all time. Right. I love that direction for Zelda. I also miss the. I feel like Zelda has now branched out into, like, three different mainline paths where you have, like, essentially 2D Zelda with games like Link's Awakening, Link Between
Andy Cortez
Worlds, all that Jazz, you have echoes of wisdom. Echoes of wisdom.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
You have the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, and then you have a branch that's like, it's been a while since we visited, which is Ocarina Majora, Twilight.
Andy Cortez
Traditional structure.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Traditional 3D structure. I think an Ocarina remake is the opportunity to get back to that traditional 3D structure because I think a lot of people. People miss that. I think with that, though, I don't know if you need the jump button. I Think you.
Barrett
I.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Because Twilight Princess I don't even think had a jump button. If I'm remembering correctly, this Skyward Sword have a jump button. Barrett? I don't think it did.
Mike
I don't think it did either.
Barrett
Yeah, like, only for like gaps that you would jump to. Right. But like not like a traditional jump.
Andy Cortez
You would have a full rotating camera. Right. Mike, do you think that a remake
Mike
rotated camera 100 for sure on that one? Yeah. I mean for me it's like you guys would know best of like what you'd want out of this because it's still so hot and fresh to me of like, I guess my mind goes like I would make it look like Zelda, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, right? The most recent titles, the most popular of like recent community members I think would go, oh, I want more of that. Well, I would just put Ocarina of Time. I'd make it look like that and play like that in my mind.
Andy Cortez
As much as I love the art style of Breath and Tears, I would love for them to go a little bit different here.
Barrett
Yeah, I. I would be really disappointed if they did just Tears of the Kingdom, Breath of the Wild for this.
Andy Cortez
Like I agree. I would love to not see the. The cell shaded toon shaded sort of vibe. I. I think that they have an opportunity to do something really cool and even more different and maybe just hey, what if we now this is all to say like put a chiron a third lower third of us. I do not want an ultra realistic looking game. I've never wanted that from Nintendo's art style. I don't think that's where they. I think that's like going for something that you don't even necessarily need to do. But I would love something more akin to what we saw with that E3 presentation. That. That was like a tech demo.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
If you can bring up the Wii U Zelda tech demo. Because this is what I want it to look like. You know what I mean? I want like more of a darker. More again not realistic, but more maybe not. But yeah, not cel shaded. Like I think that Wii U demo is actually that's how I going back to when we talk about the GameCube demo, right? Of like, damn, people saw this and then they got wind waker. They showed us the Wii U thing and I look at this and I'm like, I want to play this. And then they never gave us this game.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, this looks fucking awesome.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
This is how I'd want the game
Mike
to look like Is that not what the Twilight Princess kind of looks like, though?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, a little bit, yes. But this is like if Twilight Princess was made for hd.
Mike
Okay, okay.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Which I guess exists also, but it's called Twilight Princess. But if it was like, made for the ground up with, like, HD graphics in mind.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Because I. I'm of the mind that, like, I will never get tired of the Nintendo esthetic. It may kind of wear on people, but I love their colorful use of, you know, just like color science and how pretty and bright and nice everything can look. But I would love to just see that with a bit more of a modern layer on top of it without pushing it to. I don't want the game to look like Lords of the Fallen or Dark Souls or something. I just. I wanted to be pushed a little bit further and look visually different than Tears and Breath of the Wild.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
My biggest desires would be, I want Hyrule Field to feel more alive. I want more foliage, more. I don't want to walk out into Hyrule Field and have it just be an empty.
Mike
What's up with those flying pineapples? I never got answers for those.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's just the wild.
Mike
Is that an alien ship? Well, it's like, weird because, like, when you're a kid, they're not there as a kid.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
They just. They terrified me, by the way.
Mike
Oh, when you're a kid. When you're an adult, they're not one of the ways. It's like there's one time where they're there and then there's another time they're not there. And I never fought one, but it was flying out.
Barrett
Oh, yeah, you just run away.
Mike
Yeah, it was cool as terrifying.
Andy Cortez
I'd love to. I'd love to have more kind of organic discoveries out in the Hyrule Field.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, sure. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
You know, like, I think there's a neat opportunity there to have, like, new side quests that aren't massive. But, you know, hey, come help me with this and that. You're like, I would love to just have it be just more than what it was. Was just a big ass hub world. Yeah, it was just a big ass hub.
Barrett
And that's where it's like, I. I do think, you know, going back to that game, you know, in the middle of replaying that series, there's a lot that you go back to and you're like, oh, man. Like, they were doing really cool stuff and linked to the past that, like, they didn't, like, follow up on here in Ocarina and. Yeah, I would love more, like, organic. Like, actually making you kind of explore that open world, which is what a lot of link to the past was, rather than just going from point A
Mike
to point B to point C. That's interesting. Yeah. Because me, it's like, I'm here for the dungeons in the story. I don't really care about Hyrule, the middle ground over there, because they didn't
Barrett
design it to exactly.
Mike
The ramp was there, but, like, yeah, there was. It felt like just a transition from portal A to portal B. I'm running over there. I'm gonna go there. Like, there were. There was three bushes and, like, a couple of rocks you could go underneath. Other than that, there wasn't anything going on. So it's never. That's not something I'm like, oh, I want that. I want to be over with the rest of the group.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
And that's my thing, right? If I'm sticking to being more faithful to it, I'm kind of like, yes, they'll keep it a hub, but, like, make it just more. Feel more alive. Like, really upgrade the visuals, plan lives, all that. All that shit.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Barrett
Maybe, like, if you had a little something. And this is like a. Not even, like a gameplay thing, but something to take from Tears in the Kingdom and Breath of the Wild, where like, you actually see people, like, going from town to town or something.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, like, stuff like that.
Andy Cortez
Like that.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
But if we're going for the reimagining, I would say, okay, then let's. Hey, if we're reimagining, let's reimagine and, like, go for it in, like, the Breath of the Wild sense. Right? Like, make it explorable. Make it a main. A part of the main course as opposed to, like, the portal between. Between areas. But I feel like that if that's what it was, I think it would have been announced earlier. You know what I mean?
Andy Cortez
I think it would be really neat if they add a new dungeon as well.
Mike
Ooh.
Andy Cortez
Just.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What's your theme? What theme?
Andy Cortez
Well, I was telling Barrett and Mike, when you become Big Link Daddy Link Man Link, you. You talk to Rauru, and he gives you the Light Medallion. And I think it'd be cool if, like, hey, you'll get this thing, but you. You got to earn this and have it just be like, I. I think it would be so cool. Similar to how in the Halo, Combat Evolve. No, what's it called? Combat. What are they called? Campaign Evolved. That they're adding new missions to that. I think this is there's a cool opportunity to add like a brand new dungeon of us. We are Nintendo. We've kicked ass at making these things in the past. How do we make a modern style dungeon that is still kind of like gonna be traditional in a sense? I think there's a really cool opportunity.
Mike
Is there an underutilized weapon or item that you'd want to see more of for that dungeon? What's kind of the gimmick? Right. Cause I think of the reflector shield that had some good time. The Lens of Truth had some good time. The boots and the, the water outfit had some good time. Right.
Barrett
Honestly, something you said, Mike, earlier that I hadn't really thought about before as well is that Ocarina is like one of the rare games where because of the time jump stuff. Yeah. There are some items that you don't get to use as Adult Link which is like, yeah, when you get a boomerang in almost any other game, you just have the boomerang for the rest of the game. So like maybe adjusting little things like that as well, where it's like, hey, you're adult link, but you still have the boomerang because that's a really fun thing and like design more puzzles and you know, enemy stuff like around that.
Mike
That's a great call. Bear. I could see you doing more kid link tools for that temple and maybe using the boomerang almost like the Riddler trophies. You could make a temple around the boomerang because yeah, the boomerang very short lived. You get that and I think you become adult Link like very shortly after. You don't use that in anyone any fun way, shape or form.
Andy Cortez
Jason, the chat says adult hate boomerangs that we do gotta kind of consider that.
Mike
Well, it's like, you know what happens is the childhood fantasy of the boomerang is that when you're a child you truly think that's coming back to me. And then when you become an adult, you know that you don't have game with the boomerang. Only about 20 people on planet Earth actually know how to throw on Tik Tok. And so when you throw it and it goes a thousand yards the other way and it never comes back, falls down, you go, guess what? That boomerang, I'm never using it again.
Andy Cortez
I'm never using this. Jim Tacy in the Twitch in the Twitch shots has more light arrow action. I feel like the light arrow has to be for that those final moments. But there's got to be other items out there.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh for sure.
Andy Cortez
What like, are we. How much are we melting? Give me a fire arrow.
Mike
You're melting. Like, I guess I'm melting a lot right now. In Major's mask, I'm melting.
Andy Cortez
We freezing with ice arrows.
Mike
Oh, what about the town teleporter? Maybe more of that. You know, some of the moves that you get, it's like that town teleporter I never used. The green spell that you get early on that will, like, teleport you, that you put down, like, a. Yeah, I very vaguely remember you put down a teleporter. You can run away and then teleport back to it. I'm never using that.
Andy Cortez
WGO says ice arrow is completely optional. Ocarina sounds like the Boomerang. Maybe. Maybe it's a dungeon that is boomerang and Ice Arrow. It's all just centered around those.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Maybe one of my biggest requests. And, like, obviously they would do this, but I want to see those cutscenes bang. Like, I. I want to. I feel like if you're taking Ocarina cutscenes and bringing them into 2026 standards, I want them to feel epic. Feel cool.
Andy Cortez
I mean, you'll get, like, yells and shit.
Mike
Yeah. But it would be cool to, like, get a cast. Some really great talent out there.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I think it will rub a lot of people the wrong way, man.
Mike
Dude, there's some great scenes there where,
Andy Cortez
like, I mean, Matt Mercer is.
Mike
You get that thing acted, man. It would be cool.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah, it'd be cool. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Mellow fellow with a $2 super chat says swap between kid and adult link with a button. Crazy.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I mean, narratively. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
It'll be like a Ghost of Yote, sort of.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
So it had to be like a post game. You beat the game, you're back out in the world now we'll let you do this.
Barrett
Well, no, because there's a whole dungeon designed around going back and forth between kid and adult link, like, in real time.
Andy Cortez
Wait, which one's that, Mike?
Barrett
Which one? It's the Gerudo one. Right. Where it's like, you have to, like, go to the Gerudo thing as an adult, and then you go back to the temple time to be a kid again. And then you go back to the Gerudo Temple to, like, navigate, like, the first third of that as a kid, and then, like, it is a frustrating, like, thing where you have to, like, go out, do the transport thing to go back to the Temple of Time and then put the sword back in through thing. I'm just recreating the whole Aaron Hansen bit where he's explaining all this and then he pops up Links of the past. You hit button, you bring up the mirror and then boom, you're in the dark world. Like, what are we doing here? So. Yeah. And. But with that being like the biggest one, it's one of those, like, I would love to see them play around a bit more with just. More than just one dungeon. Especially because you two didn't even remember. Like that was an aspect. Like, I would love for them to play around more with rather than just the Gerudo Temple. And then I think the well in Kakariko Village or whatever. Play around more with the. The time stuff I think would be fun.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What well in Kakariko?
Mike
Someone said I got stuck in the well. I'm trying to remember what happens in the well. You guys.
Andy Cortez
Triangle 0 SP with the super chat. The fact of how empty Hyrule Field is by today's standards is that Nintendo will modernize this game to some extent. Is that Nintendo? What? To what extent? I don't know though. 0xp again.
Mike
Yeah.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I think it comes down to is it a remake or is it. Are you staying faithful to the original thing or are you taking liberties and adding in new mechanics, adding in new features, making it feel like a kind of a new version of the same thing? Because if you're being faithful, I don't think you touch it that much. I think you make it look a lot prettier. Maybe you do the thing where you might have more pedestrian traffic or something going on in Hyrule Field.
Andy Cortez
But I think they're going big with this.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I mean, I think that'd be fucking awesome. I just don't. If it's coming out this year like the rumors say it is, I think we would have heard about it already.
Mike
They're going back to the HD texture pack?
Andy Cortez
No, I don't think so.
Mike
You don't think so?
Barrett
Kebabs and Chad said, yeah, they imagine that this is going to be like Luigi's Mansion 2 or that was just a 3DS game that just got like spruce up a little bit and then ported to Switch. And so I imagine they think it's just like the 3ds version.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
What makes you think they're going big with it?
Andy Cortez
I. I look at their lineup and they also look at their lineup and say we need to fill some big holes. And I think just putting out a prettier version of an old game, like. And I also don't think that they would bother remaking this unless they were Trying to reinvent it in some way.
Barrett
And especially like. Yeah. When you think about with where the emulators with 40th anniversary, like your, your big bang is really just going to be. Yeah. Like a slightly better version of the, of the game that's already on.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Guys, we're talking about Nintendo. We know how bad Nintendo is with the anniversaries. Yes, I do think that I, in fact, I think that's pizza bet. Extra pizza bet.
Andy Cortez
Pizza bet.
Mike
Let's get a pizza bet out. You believe it? Bless.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Like, well, like, I don't totally disbelieve.
Mike
I, I, they're gonna mess with perfection. They already have it down. Just make it modernly look better.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
This guy's got you make the pizza.
Mike
Why, why are we messing with perfection? You already got it. Just bring it up to the modern day with some better looks, maybe some slight touches and that's it. Don't, don't change, don't change the formula that.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
My thing is I would want them, I want them to do what Andy's talking about. I just don't think they're going to because like, again, for what we're Talking about the 40th anniversary and like all this shit, right? You would have had to have this plan like five years ago. You would have had to have started this a very long time.
Barrett
Started. Like you think this, like, just started production like a year ago or something? Like, I'm just wondering.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Like, I don't think this, I don't.
Andy Cortez
I feel like we've been hearing about this rumored remake for a long time.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
No, but it was only rumored like a month ago. Like we've been.
Andy Cortez
No, but that was the leak. That was the, that was Nathan.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That was the hate. I think saying that this is happening. Until then, it's been us being like, man, it'd be nice if they made a remake. I don't think it ever leaked. I think that was always us just being hopeful.
Andy Cortez
I don't think. I don't think every. Anything ever leaked until a month ago. I think everything until then was always a. The rumor mill. Birds chirping out there, birds tweeting.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I don't even think it was rumors unless somebody, unless somebody can find me the link or find me something of like, this is where this came from. I think it was always us being like, man, it'd make a lot of sense if you remade the game, if he remade Ocarina.
Andy Cortez
Tears of the Kingdom was, quote, complete in 2022. So we could say they have, they've had four years and I don't even think that. I don't even necessarily know this is like the core Tears team.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Like, I mean, that's my thing is I.
Andy Cortez
Well, they got so many squads over there.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
And that's where I'm coming from, where I think if this isn't the core Zelda team, how much, how bigger are we thinking that this is going to be?
Mike
Right?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Like, I would then take that and go, well, I feel like you would just do a. Like, who's making it? All right, let's pizza bet. Let's pizza bet. Let's pizza bet.
Andy Cortez
It's going to be. My bet is with the handshake, it will be more than just an art, artfully beautiful, you know, beautified version of Ocarina of Time. There will be more gameplay wise there. There will be.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Define more. Because I also think there is going to be like, when you say a new dungeon, I think that's possible.
Andy Cortez
I mean, then that's not staying faithful. Then. Like, if you're adding a new dungeon,
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I think of it. Okay, I think of it as Pokemon Leaf Green that I just played, where you're going to bring it forward in terms of looks and visuals and stuff. But like Leaf Green, it's the same game, but they have some. They have some new things in there, but it's the same game, same pathing, same solutions to things. A couple of remixed aspects here, but
Andy Cortez
that's not saying traditional then, because when
Blessing Adioye Jr.
you, the way you're talking about it makes me think that it's almost like a reimagining of Ocarina at a time.
Andy Cortez
No, I don't. I don't think that. I think they are like, they will remix some mechanics from old dungeons. There will be new. There will be a Hyrule field will have a lot different things about it. Like, it will not. When you play it, you won't go, oh, they didn't stick to the traditional version. They didn't just make everything prettier. They changed the way the inventory works. They changed the way this worked. They. They did a lot of stuff.
Barrett
Not quite Final Fantasy 7 Remake, but it's not just Link's awakening type of.
Andy Cortez
Yes, right.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Somebody says, bless, you can play Ocarina on Nintendo Switch Online. This is a remake.
Mike
I get.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Well, I'm thinking of this almost like we're doing. We're doing Zelda Ocarina on 3ds. Again. That's the way I'm looking at this. Zelda Ocarina on 3DS is a straight up remake.
Andy Cortez
I think they've done that. I don't know.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I. I think they're doubling down on that. I think they're making. I think they're going, all right, let's do that. But now it's on the Switch 2 and it looks even prettier.
Andy Cortez
Okay, that's the pizza bed.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
All right.
Andy Cortez
Bet that's the pizza bed.
Barrett
I just think, like, especially with Nate the hate, like if it was. If it was that, I don't know if the verbiage would be remake. I don't know if the wording going remake. Didn't the.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Don't they call that a remake?
Barrett
Yeah, but I, I think if, like, if that was stuff that was going around of like they're sprucing up the remake of the 3D, like the 3DS remake, I think that would be the thing that's swirling around.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Oh, I'm not even saying they're sprucing up the 3DS remake. I'm saying that it's going to be like the 3DS remake in terms of what they do to it.
Andy Cortez
It's prettier.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
But it's the Switch 2 version. That would be.
Andy Cortez
Andrew Rochester with a five dollar super chat says you said do they bring in a new dungeon? They should add the light dungeon that was cut from the original. I didn't even know that. I don't know there was a missing thing from the original that they cut. Cut content.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That'd be really cool. A really cool opportunity.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, a lot of cool opportunities here. Mike, any final words about Ocarina of Time?
Mike
I am truly blown away by this game. I cannot believe it came out in 1998 and playing in 2026 was an absolute blast. It stand test of time. This being the highest ready rated Metacritic game on the website is like truly. Yeah, this game rocks. I had an absolute blast. I'm all in for the ride. And it was so good that I'm playing now Majora's Mask. Hot off the heels of this, I am in on Zelda right now. I'm excited to see where my journey goes. If I stop at Majora's Mask and go, that's enough. Or if I continue to venture down in the well and try new things. But as of right now, Nintendo is getting me interested of like I'm in
Andy Cortez
the Zelda now kebabs with one final super chat. Asked what control did Mike use?
Mike
It's a great question. Two Joy Joy cons.
Andy Cortez
Oh, that's awesome. Plug them right into the PC Huh?
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Do you want to score it or do you not want to score it?
Mike
Score it.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Yeah. I'm not gonna make you score it. I'm like, I'm not like Greg Miller.
Mike
I mean, if we were going to do it for Greg Miller. It's a nine. It's a nine out of. I mean, it's an exceptional video game.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
You say it's a nine. You can say it's a nine.
Mike
You can just like it's a nine. Nine.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
I'd say it's a nine.
Andy Cortez
Five.
Mike
It's not five.
Andy Cortez
Nine.
Mike
Five. I like exceptional.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
That's crazy. That's a 10 out of 10. Like, get the out of here. What do you mean It's a 9.5?
Mike
It's exceptional.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
Zelda Ocarina.
Mike
I'm excited to see what they do with Chapel Roan. I was confused the whole time because I thought it was one Chapel Roanoke, the Forest Fairy, but it was multiple multiples. I would like to see a little bit difference here. I'm noticing that in Majora's mess, she has different hair colors for each area, but maybe they were doing that knock, right? And I just didn't notice. But, like, every time it felt like, oh, she's just teleporting wherever I need her to be. And if it is, oh, there are different sisters and she's. She's different people. Let's make that a little more clear.
Blessing Adioye Jr.
The Fairy Fountain music. My favorite music in Zelda, period.
Mike
Oh, yeah.
