Foreign what's up? And welcome to the Kind of Funny Games cast for Thursday, July 31, 2025. Of course, I'm your host, Tim Gettys. I'm joined today by Blessing Adio Ye.
Blessing Adio Ye
Jr. Good day, Tim.
Tim Gettys
Greg Miller. Hello. And Andy Cortez.
Greg Miller
Hello.
Tim Gettys
We just watched the Nintendo Direct Partner showcase. We're about to break down everything we just saw, saw all of the big announcements or just announcements that they, they made. And remember, we're gonna have a good time, everybody. You feeling good? Bless.
Blessing Adio Ye
I'm feeling good, Tim. You feeling good, Tim?
Tim Gettys
I'm feeling pretty good.
Blessing Adio Ye
That's good. Greg, you feeling good?
Andy Cortez
I'm feeling really good, Andy.
Greg Miller
I'm feeling great, actually.
Tim Gettys

Greg Miller
You will be, you will be stunned at the results.
Tim Gettys
Stunned everybody. This is one of those upset moments in Kind of Funny history.
Greg Miller
This is one of those that like gets written down in the Wikipedia of like notable events like controversy. Yeah. Yes, exactly.
Tim Gettys
It's definitely an episode of your view that you don't want to miss for a ton of reasons that it was.
Blessing Adio Ye
Like, it was a great episode.
Tim Gettys
One of the best episodes I think we've ever done in the show. One of those rare like, oh, we're all, we're all feeling something right now. Some of us more than others. I'm not gonna say names, but I think you know who I'm talking about.
Andy Cortez
I just love hanging out with my friends. I don't know why I Gotta be single that all the time.
Tim Gettys
Remember the question you asked about Nick? Yeah, yeah.
Andy Cortez
Never forget. It was funny because I had the thing where I was like, oh man, I haven't heard a lot about. I haven't. I usually get so much feedback and I was like, all right, it's not up yet. It was pre recorded and now I haven't been able to look at anything because we've been staying off everything for this year. Nintendo Direct.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. So everybody, Greg asked me a question about Nick that I don't want to spoil here.
Andy Cortez
You won't believe your ears.
Tim Gettys
You will not believe.
Andy Cortez
Now you act like it came out of left field. Nick. No, Nick started the whole.
Tim Gettys
Obviously it's always Nick's fault to begin.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Okay.
Tim Gettys
After this, we're doing kind of funny games daily that's going to cover Monster Hunter Wild's soft sales. Then Mike's going to be streaming Battlefield 6 exclusively on Twitch. He's down at the event right now. So get your. Your first look at Mike playing some Battlefield.
Blessing Adio Ye
Hell yeah.
Andy Cortez
Very exciting.
Tim Gettys
Hell yeah. If you're a kind of funny member, today's Greg Way is talking about if you can separate the art from the artist. Thank you to our Patreon producers, Kyle Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney. The Som Twining. Today we're brought to you by Mood Factor and the Kind of Funny Survey. But we also have one thing that we need to deal with before we get into the Nintendo Direct. Boys, I have something I need to show you. Hello, Kind of funny best friends. This is Mike and Roger. And we gotta get real about kinda funny.
Mike Howard
On Monday, July 28, two consenting adults entered into a partnership. Snowbike Mike Howard and Roger Pokorny were trying to trade video games on their Fantasy Critic League. And we were stopped by our crooked commissioner blessing. Adio y Junior.
Tim Gettys
This dirty commissioner tried to hold us back from what would be a totally fair and reasonable trade.
Mike Howard
I, Roger Py wanted to give Snow Bike Mike Ninja Gaiden four in return for his video game Crimson Dawn.
Blessing Adio Ye
It's not even Crimson Dawn.
Greg Miller
It's not even Crimson Dawn.
Blessing Adio Ye
Is there another?
Tim Gettys
This trade was deemed totally fair and legal by a majority of votes within.
Blessing Adio Ye
It's not.
Tim Gettys
What a fantasy critic draft. I feel like this sounds like a fair trade. Yes, I am okay with that.
Andy Cortez
Andy approved in the chat. Trades should be enabled and you should enable the trades and let them trade.
Greg Miller
Hey, Rog, it's me, Barrett. After much consideration. And that's not my voice.
Blessing Adio Ye
Don't ignore this.
Greg Miller
Good night's Rest. I've decided to vote yes on fantasy critics trade.
Tim Gettys
Don't believe that. Blessing.
Mike Howard
By the end of the week, there will be hell to pay at.
Blessing Adio Ye
Kind of funny.
Tim Gettys
Yes, that's right. Everything blessing Adiohe Jr. Loves and cherishes on his desk will be gone.
Mike Howard
That means no Dragon Ball Z figures.
Andy Cortez
That means no shirtless Miles Morales toys.
Mike Howard
And that means no sonic plushies. They're all going in the fucking trash.
Tim Gettys
Now you may be saying to yourself, Mike and Roger, a clean desk is not really that awful of a situation to be in. No, it gets worse. Because if Blessing Adioye Jr does not adhere to our demands, I. I promise to God that we will feel it in his throat.
Mike Howard
Blessing Eddie. Oh ye junior you have until the end of this week to make this trade. This has been sponsored by the Snowbike Mike and Roger Porny partnership. 2025.
Blessing Adio Ye
When do they even have time to make this? Like I've seen the schedule. I. I did not see them coming to the studio together to do. Also. Was that my actual plushie that I was holding to the dumpster?
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
When. When did that happen?
Andy Cortez
Don't leave early. Why are you leaving early?
Blessing Adio Ye
I leave it like 3:30.
Tim Gettys
So obviously bless a lot for you to consider. A lot.
Blessing Adio Ye
There's nothing for me to consider. I've said this repeatedly.
Greg Miller
Yes.
Blessing Adio Ye
It is out of my hands. I just need a yes vote from every single person.
Tim Gettys
You got it.
Greg Miller
You got him right there.
Blessing Adio Ye
I mean if that was. That wasn't even my voice. It sounded like a hack of a.
Barrett Courtney
Voice actor who can't even try to do another voice.
Greg Miller
No.
Tim Gettys
All.
Greg Miller
I mean, everybody said yes.
Blessing Adio Ye
And I mean if everybody says yes, then I'll make.
Andy Cortez
Everybody said yes. You just saw it happen.
Blessing Adio Ye
I mean it sounds like Barry didn't say yes though.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, this is how Bear likes to be though. He likes to play both sides of the fence. Can we run it back? It sounded just like Barrett.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, I'm not sure that looks also.
Barrett Courtney
I'm not a fucking fence. If anything we know about me.
Blessing Adio Ye
I've also seen a lot of confusion because yes. On kfgd, when they first brought this to our attention, I approved of the trade, but that was before it was made. I was made aware of the fact that by the settings set at the beginning of the season, trades are not allowed. That is out of my hands. Listen, we decided on these rules. I decided on these rules at the beginning of the year. And so I'm not just going to go and break the rules for two Players that want to just break the rules. That's not what it's about. If I do that and something goes wrong because there are obvious shenanigans going on here. I don't know what the shenanigans are, but there are shenan. Shenanigans going on.
Andy Cortez
There are two consenting adults. If shit goes south, unanimously backed by consenting adults.
Blessing Adio Ye
If goes wrong, it comes back on me. And so that's why you need a yes from everybody, including Barrett.
Tim Gettys
Give him Crimson Dawn.
Greg Miller
Everybody said yes. Yeah.
Barrett Courtney
Nope.
Greg Miller
I don't like it.
Andy Cortez
Bear, what did they promise you to get you to say yes on that voicemail?
Barrett Courtney
Absolutely nothing.
Tim Gettys
Huh?
Greg Miller
I mean, it just. It sounds.
Blessing Adio Ye
It wasn't even a voicemail.
Barrett Courtney
He called me while I was on vacation. Took time away from my family that I hadn't seen in 12 years.
Andy Cortez
It sounds like you're talking about the video. You. Yeah, the voice.
Greg Miller
When you heard, let him know. I was kind of shocked to hear that. That Barrett approved of it there.
Andy Cortez
It's great to see him do the right thing because he's standing in the way of the content. He's staying in the way of the league.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
Progress.
Andy Cortez
Progress, I would say, because I don't.
Barrett Courtney
Trust Roger and Mike.
Tim Gettys
Wow.
Blessing Adio Ye
Wow.
Andy Cortez
Now he just wants to get rid of Crimson Dawn.
Blessing Adio Ye
This video should be about Barrett. The blame should be to bear.
Tim Gettys
We're shifting to Barrett now.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, it's totally fine. Listen, Barrett is the only person who hasn't approved.
Tim Gettys
I have.
Blessing Adio Ye
I've approved on my end. I'm pro. When they said it was a fair.
Barrett Courtney
And legal trade that already started ringing the alarm bell.
Andy Cortez
That's because, like, Mike just does not know how to sell anything.
Barrett Courtney
It was Roger who said that. And also, Mike wasn't great at selling it either. I don't trust them. I up to something.
Greg Miller
We already heard him say yes, though. Everybody said yes. So I heard.
Barrett Courtney
Or Cortez say yes.
Blessing Adio Ye
We'll figure this out.
Tim Gettys
We'll get to the bottom. We'll get to the bottom of this somehow, some way. Topic of the show. Tom. Nintendo Direct partner showcase. It just happened. Wow. We saw it. 27 minutes.
Blessing Adio Ye
Wow.
Andy Cortez
We saw it.
Tim Gettys
I want to get Yalls opinion on this. Andy, let's start with you. Yeah.
Greg Miller
A little bit of a stinker. Not even some third party games that. That I would have cared to see. Even if you throw Elden Ring in the mix, I would have been like, oh, wow. This gets me excited. Even though it's something we've known for a long time and we've seen it already and I. Aside from this, you know, the legend of Elliot or whatever the hell.
Tim Gettys
The very, very.
Andy Cortez
That's it. As you nailed it. Yeah.
Greg Miller
Really?
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Greg Miller
Wow.
Andy Cortez
The Adventures of Elliot the Millennium Tales.
Greg Miller
There's no legend yet.
Andy Cortez
First one.
Greg Miller
We haven't put him in history yet. Aside from that little surprise, you know, not much else to be excited about for me at least for my tastes and, and with what I care about. Surprised that Kronos knew Dawn is. Is gonna be there. I think that was, that was still a surprise for me. But I think there's just been like, you know, nothing from Xbox, no notable kind of big announcements. I just don't. I don't see why you do one like this.
Blessing Adio Ye
Right.
Andy Cortez
Got them out there.
Blessing Adio Ye
They got them out there. Too late. Xbox has got them yesterday.
Greg Miller
Damn dev kids.
Blessing Adio Ye
If I started cooking, I put a.
Greg Miller
Score on it, I give it like a five or something like that, you know.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah, you gotta get meaner with the scores. That didn't sound like a five.
Andy Cortez
Give me that.
Blessing Adio Ye
Sound like a 3.5.
Greg Miller
Well, I mean Elliot brought it up to a five.
Blessing Adio Ye
That's fair. Okay, I'll accept it was about a three before that.
Tim Gettys
I'll accept mediocre because the amount of.
Greg Miller
Times I've seen that square art style and go, ah, but it's never the genre I want. It's never. It's always a turn base that I'm not super into. But finally it's one of these amazing art. These 2.5 HD or whatever you want to call it, awesome looking art styles in a real time action rpg. Awesome. I'm in.
Tim Gettys
Greg.
Andy Cortez
Hello, Timothy. How are you?
Tim Gettys
I'm good. How are you? Good.
Andy Cortez
I enjoyed hanging out with you guys. It did not deliver on Moonlighter 2, which of course I really wanted.
Tim Gettys
I.
Andy Cortez
When we. When I gave the call of like seven minutes left and we all went, oh, that's not good. Oh shit. Blah blah, blah. I was along for the ride there of like, yeah, this is fucking rough. Can they put anything at the end that would make it more enjoyable or notable? I think, you know, this is the classic this could have been an email thing and I hate doing that because every presentation could have been an email, whatever, blah blah. Ending there with that Elliot game, of course bringing like we're talking about an action RPG to that HD2D style that we all love so much. Fuck yeah. And then again, even though we've done a podcast in this month of me being like, I gotta stop trying to make turn based RPGs work for me. I did love Octopath 1 and I did love Octopath 2. So I'm excited for an Octopath 0. Making a character, building a town. That's all awesome. The excitement of it coming this year, that's great. In December. Oh, awesome. Cool. Good holiday break game there. But yeah, overall I'm right there with Andy. I think this is probably a five. Mediocre. Maybe those last two bring it up to a five. Five getting us closer to that. Okay. But overall, like, not a lot to get super hyped about here. We were missing, I think a few tent poles in there again, even to come out and have Hyrule warriors but not give you a date. Yeah, that's a weird choice. Like to do that and not have something new to say there other than promoting it. Yeah, we're go through it. I know game by game. So there's excitement in there with Katamari, you know, Monster Hunter stories. Not my jam. Even though I've played them and appreciate them. But I know people be stoked for that. But then a middle section where you're kind of like, all right, all right, all right.
Tim Gettys
Bless.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah, this is a. This is a tough one to I think talk about as far as scoring and critiquing. Just because going into this, at the beginning of our reaction, I mentioned I was meh, right. I was like, okay, sorry. My excitement for this, I'm like. And that's mainly because they announced it as a partner showcase. And I think it'd be easy for me to take my what I want as far as an actual Nintendo direct. Telling me when I'm going to get Metroid prime and when I'm going to get all these Nintendo First Kirby Air Riders and the Nintendo first party games that we're waiting for. And like, there's a little bit of me that's like, man, I wish that was that. But it's not that. Right. This is a Nintendo partner showcase. And so what do we expect here? We expect third party announcements. We expect them, you know, doing whatever deals, whatever, like marketing obligations that they have to talk about the games they're getting on their platform. Those get done here. And so going into this or coming out of this, I feel the same way that I felt going into this where I'm kind of like, yeah, like it's the. It is. I guess it could have been an email thing. But also this wasn't a bad presentation by any means. Like there wasn't any parts of this where I was like, fuck, we're wasting time or man this is.
Greg Miller
This game looks terrible spending 12 minutes on this thing.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
Like it was a well put together thing. Right. And like all these games look fine to good to great to exciting. I'm with you guys and I'm also excited for Elliot and also like the Octopath Traveler Zero looks really cool. Elliot. I think I'm really excited for for the fact that I really love the 2D HD art style and I'm somebody who played Live Alive and absolutely adored Live Alive. But most of the time when I hop into like an Octopath or some of the other two DHD games, it can be hit or miss on if I'm in the mood for a turn based rpg.
Andy Cortez
Sure.
Blessing Adio Ye
And this being real time like action combat is really exciting for me because I with those types of games and so seeing this art style with that kind of combat and like seeing the puzzle solving stuff of you have your fairy and you can move it around and then teleport to it to navigate around. I think there's so much promise promising coming out of that. But I look at the rest of these announcements and I'm like, oh cool. Like Cronus. The new dawn is coming to Switch. Oh dope. Chilling by fire looks neat. Persona 3 reload. That's exciting for the people that haven't played it right. I think this did a great job of filling out the fall. As far as what that third party site looks like, we still have questions. Where's Hades 2? Where's Elden Ring? All that stuff. But overall I'm not mad at it, even though I'm not like excited by this whatsoever. So I think I'm right there with you guys. As far as A five.
Andy Cortez
Oh yeah.
Tim Gettys
Timothy, this is a major disappointment for me. More as what I truly believe Nintendo needs. And I say that obviously as a huge Nintendo fan, but also as somebody that wants there to be more Nintendo fans and wants to people that would never look at the Nintendo Switch. I want them to look at the Switch too. Because I want the Switch 2 to find that success and to be able to get more opportunities to have great games coming to it. Whether it's third party or first party. We knew we weren't going to get the first party stuff from this unless it was partnership, collaboration, things like Hyrule warriors there. But even then like before we reacted, I was saying all the things that I was expecting to be here and I knew we weren't going to get all of them. I don't think we got a single One of them. We actually. We didn't get a single one of them.
Barrett Courtney
You called out Zelda.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, but we need a release date. Yeah. This is stupid. Like, we've seen. We know too much about this game to not have a release date at this point. And like, I stand on that. Like, seeing it's cool, the game looks great, I'm very, very excited for it. But that is not enough for this. And I feel like there's so many questions that we need answered. And I can't believe that for how many years we predicted Switch to stuff and heard rumors about Switch 2 and how delayed the Switch 2 release actually felt and everything that we've heard of, like, it could have been earlier. I look at this and I'm like, could it have? I don't think so. Like this I'm surprised beyond belief that we're not getting Xbox announcements. There's no Forza, there's no.
Blessing Adio Ye
Are you surprised? Because I feel like that's one of the things that ruins this for me is that we talk about news every single day and we know what's up when it comes to this shit. Right? So, like when we talk about Xbox announcements at this thing, I'm like, there's no way we're getting Xbox.
Tim Gettys
But I know that. But I'm surprised that that's the reality we're in. Like, I'm talking about thinking from a year ago of where Nintendo should be right now with their Switch to with this new console. This is unacceptable. Like, this is not they. I've been saying forever, like, this is their chance to for the first time since the Super Nintendo, be a place people want to play or can play third party games. And they're not proven that. Like, I think that that is not good for the. The health and viability of the Switch to. To soar the way that it can.
Blessing Adio Ye
And I.
Tim Gettys
And we can get there over time. But for this to be the first partner showcase, that's a bummer, man. Like, I feel like there's so much. And again, it's not like I'm expecting the world from things. I'm expecting release dates for coming this year that they've already announced. Right. Like Final Fantasy 7 Remake. How is that not here? Having said all that, it's like there's good games here and I think that legitimately Octopath Traveler Zero coming this year. That's fantastic. That team just is pumping out modern classics in the JRPG space and I would not have expected that, let alone it be this soon. So that's a major win. Elliot looks awesome. A different genre for that art style I think is going to go a long way. It does bum me out that Final Fantasy Tactics isn't in that art style. Like you look at Tactics, look at those final two games and you're like ah, we could have had it so good. I'm hyped for the dumb little things like Pac Man World, but like those are should be like secret delights of a partner showcase one month into this new console's launch. Not one of my favorite things that I saw.
Greg Miller
Yes.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, it's. It's rough for me because I think that overall like when I get that it's a partner showcase, we've had great partner showcases and I think that the first one out the gate should be better than this. I don't think that my expectations are out of whack again because there are things that I need to know that I still don't know. So score. I don't know. I feel like in terms of time and place it's a three bad. But because of octopath and stuff that does bring it up for me quite a bit. And I'd probably end at a 5.5. I struggle to call this okay, but I do think that I want to give them the credit for having genuine surprises of a big third party title that is going to be consequential in the conversation.
Greg Miller
So you're so right about the Pac man point. There have been so many showcases and you know, any one of these presentations that we watch where we come away with at least three to four holy shit type stuff and the Pac man, you know, adventure, whatever the hell the game is is like oh. Plus they also had this which was really surprising. That's really, really neat. Plants versus zombies re planted or whatever.
Tim Gettys
What a wow.
Greg Miller
What a cool surprise. Not only do we have all these awesome things, but then these other secret delights.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah.
Greg Miller
And like this.
Andy Cortez
This one's missing tent pole.
Greg Miller
Yeah, there are no tent poles. And to have these be the ones that we sort of focus on as the major wins is a real big bummer. Especially from a presentation like this.
Tim Gettys

Tim Gettys
Let's go game by game. Starting off with monster hunter stories three twisted reflection. Coming to switch to 2026. What do we think? Good.
Andy Cortez
Again, I've played one and two casually, briefly. Never sunk any real amount of time into them, but enough to be like, oh, this is a really quality turn based rpg. I love that you're doing something different with Monster Hunter. Obviously, as a person who loves Monster Hunter Wilds, Monster Hunter, now, Monster Hunter Freedom, you name it. Those games are usually so light on story. To get one that is like, no, no, we're going to commit and give you this anime esque tale of what's going on and what's going with the monsters and this and that. It's a nice change of pace and it's cool to see them expand out the franchise. And I know it's got a bunch of fans, especially on the switch, so I think this is a great opening of dropping this in there and being like, hey, you probably thought this might happen. It's actually happening now, so why not?
Tim Gettys
Are these games normally multi plat?
Andy Cortez
So correct me if I'm wrong. Chat. I believe both 1 and 2 started as exclusives to Switch and then got ported everywhere else. But I'm not 1000% correct, sure on that, but I think that is how it went.
Tim Gettys
Bless. About Monster jumping into this one.
Blessing Adio Ye
No, no. After. After trying to hop into Monster Hunter Wilds.
Andy Cortez
I'm correct.
Blessing Adio Ye
That was the, the last, my last shot.
Andy Cortez
Well, here's the thing though, and I mean I'm not trying to sell you on it.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
But I mean it's not that kind of game.
Tim Gettys
Right.
Andy Cortez
Monster trying to jump into Monster Hunter and be like, what the. I'm what Dual blades is that like this is a story, right? This is a. Yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
And I'm just not. I'm also not bought into the world in a big way. Like if somebody came to me and was like, yo, the Monster Hunter story and lore, you got to get into this shit. Then I'd be like, okay, maybe I, maybe I check it out. I will say this looks cool. I mentioned during the thing the art style reminds me of Tales of Arise, which is another game that I wish I had more time to like check out and play. It looks cool. But yeah, it's not really my jam for sure.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. And especially for a third one, I think they're playing to a very specific audience for what they want out of that, which is great.
Tim Gettys
It does look good, though. The quality of it. It's like. All right, cool. Good. Good for you. You guys are working with at least some type of technology on the Switch too.
Greg Miller
Yeah, yeah. Super sharp art style. And this is one that I might give a shot if there weren't a lot of other things I was already interested in then.
Tim Gettys
Next up, Once Upon a Katamari coming to Nintendo Switch 1 on October 24, 2025. I am not a Katamari guy.
Greg Miller
What?
Tim Gettys
Y' all seem so hyped on this though. Greg, tell me.
Andy Cortez
I love Katamari. Katamari, of course. For me, such a PlayStation 2 point in time that, you know, I mean, for me, jumping in and trying to. And really discovering how wide the video game world is and how many goofy ass things you can have going on there. What I get excited for is that it's a new one, right? I think we've talked so many times about Katamari's come back and done this and it's a collection. It's on the iPhone, it's the. It's whatever. I want a new Katamari and to get that here, to have competitive modes, just to have it be goofy and fun, I'm all about. So, yeah, I'm. I'm excited to see this. There's a bunch of stuff going on in the press release that's interesting, right? The first new entry in Katamari Damacy series in 14 years, right? To help the prince protect the things, players must roll a katamari, of course, collecting items as they go. It's coming October 24th to PlayStation 5, Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch in standard and deluxe editions. As an added bonus, players who have saved data from either Katamari Damacy Reroll or We love Katamari Reroll plus Royal Revi Revere can unlock a playable young king once the game launches. So you're doing a bunch to reward the fans who have been there for a long time, but customizing the character, having a party mode in there, let alone just the. Let's roll around and pick things up and get bigger and bigger as we try to help the King of the Cosmos. Yeah, it's a goofy game, Tim. Yeah, goofy people.
Blessing Adio Ye
Do you ever. You never played it?
Tim Gettys
I rented it from Blockbuster once and I just didn't vibe with it. I think the music's fun and quirky, but it's like. It's just not my type of thing. It's. See, I know looking at it, you're like, this could be.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah, it looks like it's Him. It's not though.
Tim Gettys
It' not like I I. And am I wrong?
Blessing Adio Ye
I mean I've not played enough of it to even tell you. I think it's a similar.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
Because I, I played it a little bit on PlayStation Vita. Like funny enough. Like that was the only version of Katamore Katamari that I really played.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
And like even then I. I like it so much conceptually and I like the energy of it, I think more than I actually like playing it. Like I love that it exists. But like will I. Will I pick this one up, play and do all this?
Tim Gettys
I.
Blessing Adio Ye
Who knows? Maybe not. Probably not if I'm being real.
Andy Cortez
It's just that if it doesn't sound interesting, you Tim to finally get your ball big enough to pick up a pencil.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
I mean like there's always that thing when you walk up to an item and you roll into Am I. Have I made the ball big enough now you pick it up.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yes.
Andy Cortez
It like unlocks a whole new area of things you can pick up that you've seen you roll around. Like that's the goofiness of it. I could see you enjoying a demo of it. I could. I think honestly it'll be a great stream if we get the stream team together and we do like, hey, all four of us should play. That sounds like a lot of fun.
Greg Miller
It sounds like just a funny parlance, man. If you can't get your ball big enough to pick.
Andy Cortez
If that doesn't sound fun, which I totally understand. Yeah. Not going to be for you the.
Tim Gettys
Next time we had Just Dance 2026 Edition coming October 14th to the Nintendo Switch 1 tried and true has to be here. Co op party mode. Is that new? Blessed.
Blessing Adio Ye
I can. I cannot tell you.
Andy Cortez
They advertised it which made me think that's why I jotted it down there as a new thing for you. I can hit up the press release though and let you know.
Tim Gettys
And then dragon ball sparking zero coming to switch one and two November 14th. This is great. This is the type of shit that I want to see. The complaints I was having, I want to see the ports of the third party games. I want the support of the Switch 2 and for people to know it's a place that they can play third party games and this was a great one last year. So I'm sure that there's going to be a big audience of people that didn't have access to this before that now do because of Nintendo.
Blessing Adio Ye
I think this is a great inclusion for the Switch 2 library and it Seems the big feature that they're adding here is the motion control stuff, which for people who are fans of the series, right. Like that's a good throwback to like what they did with the Wii. Cuz they also had the motion control stuff on the Wii. And that was if, as far as I understand and remember, something that people really vibed with, right. Of like, all right, charge up the Kamehameha by doing the Kamehameha pose. Like people, the people who play dbz, they want to like embody the character. You know what I mean? They. It's in the same way where Greg, if you're playing a switch wrestling game and if you wanted to do like the. Yeah, like they're like, oh, do like the John Cena motion to do the attitude adjustment in order to make the move more powerful.
Tim Gettys
Right.
Blessing Adio Ye
Like that sounds kind of fun. Like that sounds kind of dope. And so I love that. I hope they implement it well.
Greg Miller
That's why I went out to a game stop way back in the day to buy the PlayStation Move controllers because I just had to play a golf game with the PlayStation. I just had it. I needed it, had to do it.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. How. How did it feel? Feel good?
Greg Miller
I felt great. Yeah. Immediately like stop using them.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, that happens. It wasn't a good investment. Then we got VR, then you were all about it, of course. Dusting them off. Ready to go.
Tim Gettys
Plants versus zombies replanted. Coming to switch one and two local co op and versus modes. October 23rd, Brandon Bishop super chats in saying yes, I will be purchasing Plants versus Zombies for the seventh time. I will not be taking questions.
Andy Cortez
That's the, you know, for a game that is as good as this, that is totally acceptable. I think, you know, the domination of what the late O's. Before we turn to the 2010s and how plants versus zombies became such a fucking thing. Thing you talk about again what the App Store was for games back then to get a quote unquote real game that then got ported everywhere. Of course EA buying Pop Cap at some point in there to then have this license and have all this stuff. It's cool to see it back and be simple. Garden Warfare was Garden Warfare. It wasn't what I wanted, more Plants versus Zombie. But they also did a bunch of Plants versus Zombie. Do we need more Plants versus Zombie? Here you go. It's nice that they're doing more with it, obviously hd, whatever. But like adding in this local co op, this local. This pvp. Awesome. Cool. You're doing something More with it. It'll be fun to go in there and kick the tires on it.
Tim Gettys
This is a Hell, yeah. Right? Amazing game. Looks like it should for a remaster like this, the new mode, it's like, this seems like the right level of love and care for these games, and I'm happy that we're still talking about them. So, yeah, good for them.
Greg Miller
Tim, There's a. There's a part of me that just has been hung up on a. Some news you gave me yesterday during our rage boundaries review. Is that on Switch? It's locked to 30 and. Which is, you know, just weird off the rip. Right. Usually you may want to leave that unlocked so that when the Switch 2 version plays it, it, you know, it can. You know, it can just like, use horsepower to. To get all the way there. That's still just so, so shocking to me. And in a way that when we see the Monster Hunter game at the beginning of this showcase look the way it does, and then maybe Dragon Ball Z a little bit less. So I'm just still so shocked that we're kind of experiencing that. And. And I just.
Blessing Adio Ye
That was the thing I felt like I experienced a little bit at the. When we went to the Nintendo preview in me and Tim in New York and Roger, right where I went, I played Cyberpunk 2077 and it looked way better than I ever would have thought on the Switch too. Where I'm like, the frame rate might not have been there all the way.
Greg Miller
But I think it's locked at 30. But still, like.
Blessing Adio Ye
But still visually, I'm like, oh, shit. They. I would play this game this way. Like, this genuinely feels like a great way to play the game. And then I went over, I played Street Fighter and I was like, oh, I. I would have thought Street Fighter would look better than this. Like, I don't know what's up with that as far as maybe it is like, hey, it's on the developers to optimize and figure out how to get the most juice out of the machine kind of thing.
Greg Miller
How the fuck does radio not run at 60, like, even on the Social? I don't know. It's crazy.
Tim Gettys
It is crazy, everybody. God. Yeah. I mean, honestly, I. I don't mean to come off like such a hater. I just am legitimately disappointed after looking forward to the Switch two for so long and for what it's going to do. And so far, I. When it counts the Nintendo games, like, they've delivered for me. But when we were in New York and we saw that the direct and all the letters and numbers they're talking about of HDR and 4K120 frames per second, it's like, oh shit. And then to already be here, it's like, oh man. And it again like to bless his point, it's like it is optimization and when they the devs do optimize the results show like it does work. It is possible. But I am, I'm a little concerned at how many letdowns there have been in the one in the first month of this console.
Andy Cortez
So do you think that matters though? Outside of this room and the people listening and even to the people listening.
Tim Gettys
I mean, I think, I think over time it, yes, because I think it sways the conversation. It's it. If everyone's just saying, ah, the Switch 2 is just like the Switch 1, it's not the right place to play these games. And if that's the tenor of the overall conversation, every time a game comes out, that's the lens that's going to be looked at. Every time something's announced, it's going to be looked at as like I don't.
Andy Cortez
Want to play it, you know.
Blessing Adio Ye
But do you think that that matters as much in the grand scheme of Nintendo and Switch? Right. Like we say this for the Switch one of people buy Nintendo consoles to play Nintendo games. I, I went into the Switch too with that mentality as well.
Tim Gettys
Right.
Blessing Adio Ye
Of like it's cool that we're seeing Elden ring and Persona 3 reload in these other games, but I don't see them being anywhere close to the main event of this thing. I mean, yes, and I don't, and I also don't think that's going to keep it from being maybe one of the best selling consoles again.
Tim Gettys
I mean, I'm right there with you. With everything you said, I expected more. I expected this to change that and I think that they had an opportunity to do that. Why did they not put more dev kits out there? Why? Like I understand the fact that they didn't, but why? It makes no sense to me and I feel like it can't be understated.
Barrett Courtney
They had to, they had to stop all the leaks.
Tim Gettys
Well, cool. Here we are now. You know, it's like this is like not the right. It wasn't worth it. It just simply wasn't worth it. Like I firmly stand on the fact that there are, there's a giant contingent of Nintendo gamers that just play Nintendo, just buy a Nintendo Switch. They don't buy other systems. They want to play Final Fantasy. They want to play these third party games and they will, they will buy them. And I just feel like that that statement and message should be supported by Nintendo early on in this thing. And I do still think they'll get there. I do still think that next year we'll start seeing these showcases and there will be a lot more third party games that are at announce. It's multi Planets everywhere. I just think we should be there now. And it's disappointing to me that we're.
Greg Miller
Not waiting for a little Night Rain announcement.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah, but you want Night rain for switch.
Greg Miller
30 frames per second.
Andy Cortez
You got to get Elden Ring out. You got to get to what's the dust?
Tim Gettys
Blood. Right.
Andy Cortez
Like I don't even want to step on those with it. Yeah, I do think, Tim, it's not as dark as it may seem to you right now. I'm fucking Adventures of Elliot, baby. I'm ready to dive into this guy with his little red hat. What's going on?
Greg Miller
I'm so bummed out that I don't bring my Switch like Greg does because.
Andy Cortez
I. I told Ben today as we were walking on. We're taking the Switch. You don't get Pokemon this afternoon. Sir, you got to come with me.
Greg Miller
You stay in your room.
Blessing Adio Ye
The one thing I'm really interested in as far as the talking point, right is like the amount of people that have just a Switch 2 that want to play third party games that might not and probably don't have other consoles. What demographic of people do you think that is or how many, how many of those people are out there?
Tim Gettys
I think a lot, A lot.
Blessing Adio Ye
But like in my, in my mind this is me just projecting, right. Like I would assume most of those people are kids or most of those people are a younger audience. I would be surprised for like if you're a gamer, adult, if you care about video games and like you're in the shit and you just own a Switch. I would ask why do you just own a Switch?
Tim Gettys
I think that, I mean and I not.
Blessing Adio Ye
Not on like a you can't afford it kind of thing. I understand that. But more so like why didn't you buy a Steam Deck? Or why don't you buy a PlayStation instead of a Switch?
Greg Miller
I think of the. Honestly, I think of the recipes to a real one. The Etika audience, hardcore Nintendo lifers that go nowhere else. This is where they exist. I think of our, one of our friends we've collaborated in the past Shofu where it's like that's where they live. And that's where they exist.
Tim Gettys
There's a culture, the Nintendo YouTube culture is different than other video game ecosystems. And I think that a lot of that is there are people that grew up with Nintendo and that's video games to them. And I, I don't think it is just the kids, kids as well. Like there obviously is that a big audience of that. But I'm talking anecdotally like my groups of friends and like the way that they. I know so many people that just have switches. Like literally. Gia's best friend's husband is a hardcore gamer, but just on the switch. And so every time I hang out with him, I'm talking to him, he's like, oh, what are the hot games? And like I'm telling him like all these big games, he's like, I'm not. I can't play that because it's on the, it's not on the Switch. And I'm like, but meanwhile, he loves Hades, you know what I mean? Like, he's playing all these games that when they're, when the, the big hit game of the year type games that aren't just the New Mario or New Zelda, they're playing them there. And I just can't believe that it seems as bad as it does right now. Greg, you were, you were counter pointing.
Andy Cortez
Me there, not counterpointing. I just think like they're moving forward on that and it is this dev business and I don't think it's. I think that's such a new wave of Nintendo that I don't think you lose the battle, you lose the war, you lose this fall, it's all over. I think the fact that you see a Borderlands 4 on here, you know, you see that montage of games going on there. A lot of things we're talking about today are of course on other platforms as well. Like, but I think, you know, I'm going to play Elliot on the Switch, right? Because I want it to be going with me. And as much as I love my Rog, I'm having a love affair with my Switch as well right now, my Switch 2, and it's smaller and more compact and I like it more in terms of a device. Right. Like, I don't think, I think as we continue to go and now these games are lining up on the same level, you'll see it. I still do think you're going to have that idea of like we look at Outlaws and it's like, well, Outlaws in this presentation does not look nearly as good as Outlaws looked on my PlayStation 5 and that's always going to be that trade off. And I think that's still going to be the Switch 2's reputation, but it will be that ability to have it with you.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, I mean I'm right there with you. I don't expect it to look as good. Like I think it needs to run. It just needs to be a playable game. And like if you don't know the difference or aren't, not even. Don't know if you're just not.
Andy Cortez
You don't care.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, you don't care. You're not, you're. You're choosing not to buy the PS5. You're choosing to be here. So like I, I'm not arguing that these games need to be the best and I'm actually arguing the opposite. Of course it just. This can't be the A we situation. This needs to be a. It can't be a lesser version. It needs to. I mean it's still. It would be lesser. Sorry, sorry, sorry. I mean lesser in the sense of like it won't be as good but like it can't be bad.
Blessing Adio Ye
It can't be something that you cannot baseline play. Like I, to the point of like the example you give of your friends. Right. Like I remember went on, I went on a hinge date like a couple years ago with a girl who I was, we were talking about game. She was like, yeah, I really want to play this Hogwarts legacy game. And I was like, oh, that's cool. And she was like, yeah, I want to play on. Get it on Switch. And in my mind I had to like shift the. Oh yes, you are somebody who only has a switch, right, that like is going to buy maybe two or three games in a year and like it is going to be the most mainstream of thing. But also it's hard for me to transition that into. When we're talking about the games that we're talking about as far as like the Elden Ring might not be a great example because Elden Ring is a mainstream. Like people fucking buy and play that shit. But when we're talking about a lot of these games that are third party that are coming to the platform that may or may not run in the way that you want or may not make their way over. Right? Like, I don't know, I have to ask the question of, well, how many people are showing up to the Switch for this versus like if you really wanted to play this game, could you get it on a PC or could you Play it on a different platform. Like, would you also be in the market of people who have the Switch as a secondary platform as opposed to like your main one thing that you get?
Tim Gettys
Yeah, I'm just thinking about games like Forza Horizon 5.
Blessing Adio Ye
Sure. That I think, that I think makes sense.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. And there's a ton of that. And Final Fantasy 7 is going to dominate sales on this console. Like that is. There's going to be so many people that are playing that game for the first time that have been wanting to play that game. I just, I. I just wish that we were in a better place. And I say this as like, I know it feels early to me, it feels late. I've been waiting for this for decades at this point. And it seemed like we were finally gonna get to that point. That from the jump they got this. They nailed it with the Switch one in terms of being the best Nintendo console ever. But there was a big flaw and it was third party. And that was because of power. They solved the power problem. They didn't solve the third party problem fully. I'm not saying they're it up. They're clearly doing a good job. But for this to be the first direct. I'm going in circles here. You get my point?
Greg Miller
Yeah. Just a very late start.
Tim Gettys
EA FC 26 coming September 26, 2025 for Nintendo Switch 1 and Switch to.
Andy Cortez
Yay.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
Would you ever play this year? Like, is there any novelty to it being portable that excites you?
Blessing Adio Ye
No, like if it ran good enough for me, I view it the same way that, you know, Roger has been playing.
Andy Cortez
Can we wwe.
Greg Miller
Okay.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah. I was like, is that right there? I guess Roxanne. Roxanne was playing it on the show show this week. Roger's been playing WWE 2K25 on the Switch too. And I look at that, I'm like, yeah, dude, I. I love the idea of, you know, I'm just chilling or if I happen to have my switch on the plane with me or whatever, I can boot up just like one match of WWE and it doesn't have to be a thing of. That's where I'm doing my like building my like career mode or that's like get a match. I just want to hop into a match and have fun. Right. I would view EAFC as that same thing. The thing I'm fascinated to see is for years and years and years and years now, the Switch version of FIFA slash EAFC has just been the same game ported over and over and over again. I know to that people would hear that and go, well, isn't that what sports games always are? And it's. No, it's. This is on a. This is in a worse way where they don't do anything to the FIFA game. They just copy and paste it year to year. And it got to the point where IGN wouldn't write a new article for the review, they would just copy and paste the review from the previous year because EA wasn't doing anything to change the game. I would hope, and I expect that EAFC 26 is a step forward. And I think if you're making that jump forward, then, like, hopefully, fingers crossed, you make it a. Well, a good enough version that, like, is actually good for people and that people can actually play as their main thing. Who knows? We'll see when we get there. But I hope this is a good enough version because if it is, yeah, like, I'm down to have this as a secondary match. Have fun. And then if I want to play online and build my ultimate team or whatever, I can do that on my PlayStation.
Tim Gettys
Hi. Oh, look like you're gonna say something.
Andy Cortez
I mean, I can, I think, you know, Roger is the one who dove in the most so far with 2K25 WWE, right? And he came back and says, it's running at 60, it looks great, blah, blah, blah. Like, that's why it's on my switch too. I still, I've only like scratched the surface this year in 2k25. I don't even. I started on my PlayStation or just played it here when we were. No, it was the island stuff. So I've done it, but it's like got caught up in other reviews. Like, I think my best chance of doing any serious time is going to be on the switch too. If it's competent, if it works.
Tim Gettys
Right.
Andy Cortez
Again, I want those kind of games on the go with me. I think so many of my 2k 24 hours for WWE were sunk on the portal that this is just. We'll cut it out, you know, get rid of any latency, have it ready to go. And so you see the same thing here with EAFC 26 and in a second with Madden 26, right? Where, as you know, the Vita guy back in the day and how much I loved Vita, it was always so fucking heartbreaking that third parties weren't supporting the Vita the way PlayStation wanted them to support it. Which is a whole problem. I know. But like, it was that idea of, like, cool, the Madden game is gonna tie into the Madden game. My Madden PS3 game will tie into my Madden PS Vita game. It did not. Right. The V, you were a year behind every year. There wasn't connectivity for a long time. There's a whole bunch of fucking problems with it. Where it sucked to have that here where it's like alright, it's just full blown mad. And it's another one of like I could easily see if I'm committed to Madden that year playing it on my Switch. So it's with me everywhere I go.
Tim Gettys
Richard Buck in the chat says Nintendo developed the WWE port themselves. We'll see how much effort sports games that. Can I get a source on that? That's very interesting and I, I, I'm surprised to hear that. And I wonder why WWE of all things.
Andy Cortez
But probably because they know how big it could be. Like right? That's. I feel like that's the same thing here where EA mistreated the Vita users. Right. And that's a bridge too far. I was gonna say DS users too but that would've been a completely different thing. Vita users for sure because they knew the install base was so fucking small. Why does this matter? Don't put your time into this actually trying to make it work the way we'd like it to work because it doesn't benefit us to only sell a fraction of the units here. Right. Whereas you would hope here with nintendo and with 2K. 2K understands how big WWE is. They understand the audience that is kids who play it like Mad Men. They understand that the Switch is gonna be there eventually. If I would imagine Nintendo jumps in to prove hey, look how good these kind of games can run. Let's get NBA on it. Let's get this going. Let's get the micro. I love that jazz.
Greg Miller
Can you imagine Roman Reigns like for the announcement was doing that. Then it went.
Tim Gettys
Then we got pac man world 2 repack coming to switch 1 and 2 on September 26th. I was talking about this earlier but like this is nifty. This is a cool little fun surprise for me. Like this. I put this in the category of the 3D platformers from the PS2 generation that were not that bad. Like obviously it's not Mario, but this is a good time and you know, It's a nice 7 out of 10 swimming in sevens type thing. So I'm happy it's happening. I don't know that I'm actually gonna play through the whole thing, but I'm definitely gonna play some of it just for that nostalgia hit. And it looks good.
Blessing Adio Ye
Oh yeah.
Tim Gettys
See Tactics fully voiced. New difficulty modes coming September 30, 2025 to switch 1 and 2. I don't think there was any new information there. I think we already knew the release date. But yeah, like we were saying, I'm not in love with the art style, actually a little let down by it. But this game's incredible voice acting goes a long way.
Greg Miller
It really looks like when you are allegedly playing like a ROM or an emulator, allegedly. And you can up. You could scale up the pixel graphics and it smooths things out. Like, it's. It's just. Oh, man. I just.
Blessing Adio Ye
It looks like somebody put their thumb on it and like, smudged it around.
Greg Miller
Yeah, it just looks like artifact artificial upscaling. It just kind of loses the. The spirit.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. And then you see this. You're like, this looks incredible. Persona 3 Reload coming October 23rd, 2025 on Switch 2. This is what I'm talking about.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
I expected these type of announcements from a partner showcase a month in Switch 2. And I love that this is here. I think that this is evidence that we're going to see way more Persona games. That, to me, is the expectation. And Metaphor Fantasio is probably not too far away.
Barrett Courtney
I mean, of the modern ones, like, the. Like Persona 4 and 5 are already on Switch, and Persona 3 Portable also came. So of the modern ones outside of rumored Persona 1 and 2 remakes. Right. Like, they're pretty much already there. I would expect Metaphor next year if we're going to get this in October.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, right.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, it's exciting.
Tim Gettys
Baron, I know you just played through this, but would you be interested in giving this one a shot at all?
Barrett Courtney
Maybe not. Not right now. I'd probably give it a little bit of time because, yeah, this what came out last year. Right. So I'd probably. I'd probably wait on it, but whenever I am ready to like, do another playthrough and get my heart broken again, like, it will be the Switch version. Like, I love having that available handheld. And that's like, true for me for like the other Persona games now as well. Like, if I'm ever in the mood to replay them, like, I've got that Switch handheld version. Right. So, yeah, I'm gonna go back to.
Greg Miller
Some hater shit right now. This looks so much better than Metaphor did.
Barrett Courtney
That's. That's insane.
Tim Gettys
That's an art style.
Greg Miller
So much better than Metaphor refund.
Barrett Courtney
Like, it's a different engine. So I understand, like, technically, like, prettier in terms of just the cleanness, but.
Greg Miller
But I Look deep fried Metaphor Fantasia. Look deep fried dude.
Andy Cortez
Crazy.
Greg Miller
It looks deep fried.
Barrett Courtney
I I think the.
Blessing Adio Ye
I understand what you're saying. I don't agree fully but I cuz I also like I didn't love I. I wasn't in love with metaphors like art style as much. I still think out of all the Persona 5 is still the one that looks the best out of all these games in my opinion. But I don't know.
Barrett Courtney
Persona 3 reload just looks too clean to me.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yes. Persona 3 there's something about.
Tim Gettys
And that's.
Barrett Courtney
It's because it was the first game they did in Unreal I think cuz Persona that's its own engine and metaphor.
Greg Miller
So yeah Ali Khan. These games always look grimy as deep fries.
Tim Gettys
Hilarious. Great way to put it. High High Rule Warriors. Age of imprisonment looks awesome. Coming this winter. There's no release date. Last time we had a 2025. Now they're saying winter. I thought this was going to be December. I still think it's December. I just wish I knew that it was December. But we know that we're going to be getting a Nintendo direct at some point soon because they're need that answer questions about first party stuff and I feel like that's probably where we'll get the release date for this and Metroid Prime 4 and an update on Kirby Air Riders if it's still this year or not. Which to me I think that's the biggest question mark of like I could see it go either way of Zachariah fucking got it done and hitting it or why would they say that was 2025?
Barrett Courtney
Clearly I could see like either this being December and Air Riders being January or the opposite depending on what's going on in their back end.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
We playing this?
Greg Miller
Oh yeah.
Tim Gettys
Like real talk. I feel like this is going to be the most played Hyrule warriors game so far. And I think that it's looks interesting. I think the fact that it is canon story which the last one was two but this just looks rad and it being switched to it's going to actually run decently. Like I can guarantee I'm going to play this one more than I've played any of the others. I do not think I'm going to see it all the way through unless it fully captures me. But I. I think that's probably going to be true for most of us. This is going to be the first.
Greg Miller
Time I actually boot up. Like I've had zero interest in the other ones just because they've always Felt like little side offerings. Even though that's not true. I know that's just me projecting on that. But this is the one that has interested in me the most for sure.
Blessing Adio Ye
That a Dynasty warriors game came out this year.
Tim Gettys
Origins.
Blessing Adio Ye
Dynasty. Was it called Origins? Yeah. And like, it feels like it came when. I know Dynasty warriors games are for Dynasty warriors fans. And so like, it's not even like a slide or anything. But it's crazy to me that. Yeah, we've had. We had the one before this that was based off the story of Breath of the Wild, and we also had the Persona 5 game that was a bit musou leaning. Persona 5 strike strikers.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
And like, it's crazy that they made these games that are spin offs of some of my favorite games ever. Like both in my top 10. And for some reason, my brain just does not click with them.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, same.
Blessing Adio Ye
And I will try. I will boot this up. I will try this one out because it looks really cool. And I want to know what's up with the story. I'm with Tim.
Greg Miller
That I don't play soccer in that one. In that.
Blessing Adio Ye
In Strikers. No. I wish they did. Oh, my God. If they made a Persona 5.
Andy Cortez
Tim. I've been trying to close the loop on it. I can't find anything about WWE 2K25 being developed by Nintendo. It says visual concepts in 2K everywhere. So I don't know, maybe they gave him advice, but I can't find anything. Any reporting on that.
Tim Gettys
Gotcha. I'm gonna talk this out live, Greg. Okay, you down for that, everybody?
Andy Cortez
We'll have a conversation.
Tim Gettys
We're having a fun little scheduling conversation. Yeah. Great show. But just timing wise, we're trying to figure some things out because in 30 minutes, Mike's gonna be streaming Battlefield.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
Correct.
Andy Cortez
Mike can start Streaming Battlefield in 30 minutes.
Tim Gettys
Yes. So trying to figure this out. A potential option here. We don't do games daily today. This was the news. We're talking about this. There's one news story that I think we should cover, which is the Marvel Token Fighting Souls Extreme Fighting Edition.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yes.
Tim Gettys
What's the name of the game? I don't know.
Blessing Adio Ye
More. Marvel Token Fighting Souls. Yeah. Yeah.
Tim Gettys
So maybe that's a shorter thing. We could just do a reaction to that piece of content. Love that. What do you think?
Blessing Adio Ye
As like a show? As like a separate thing?
Tim Gettys
As a separate thing, we finish this episode and then.
Blessing Adio Ye
But also I can hold that for tomorrow. I don't think you are dying.
Tim Gettys
But I'm saying instead of doing an episode of Games Daily. Today we do just our reaction to that. I'm down just because I feel like timing wise that might make sense.
Andy Cortez
And you put up the game's daily feeds. Is that the thing or just the gamescast feed?
Tim Gettys
Okay.
Barrett Courtney
If that's just fully reaction content, I don't know if that's going to be good for audio feeds.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. Maybe just video then just for that. Just try and deal with the day, deal with the time. We could just save it for tomorrow. Just go 30 more minutes on this one.
Andy Cortez
I mean that's the thing is I still think, I mean you. You got what, 10 things to go.
Tim Gettys
Let's just do that.
Andy Cortez
I would say it's probably not doing Games Daily.
Tim Gettys
Everybody.
Andy Cortez
This is the news of the day, everybody. You saw it. I saw Mike and chat. So get ready, Mike. You're still going live around noon?
Tim Gettys
Yeah. Back to the content. Anything more to say about Hyrule Warriors? What?
Andy Cortez
I'm just not a mistake also. Sure. I didn't do that.
Tim Gettys
My boy Rauru though, I'm excited to see him back and decide to get more of him. He's a sexy little goat man.
Greg Miller
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
And we got a mech at the end and according to Barry was a different mech than the mech.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, this is looking more like a humanoid.
Blessing Adio Ye
Like the.
Barrett Courtney
The mech that you get in Tears of the Kingdom is like this weird like chunky but also lanky looking thing. This looks more humanoid like a person. I'm like, maybe they're bringing Link Soul back into the past.
Blessing Adio Ye
Whoa.
Tim Gettys
Well, because that is the interesting thing. There's no link in this. Right?
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, because he's. This is Zelda traveling back in time in Tears of the Kingdom.
Blessing Adio Ye
So which I want we gotta. Not here. But there's a conversation to be had of like the next mainline Zelda game is gonna start Zelda. Right. Like they've been putting Zelda in the star and roll now.
Barrett Courtney
But I feel like they're doing that for the spin offs for a reason.
Blessing Adio Ye
But I feel like you're built. I feel like you do the income to then build into a main line. Like Zelda is the star here. I could save it maybe.
Tim Gettys
I'm just.
Barrett Courtney
I feel like they're doing like the more spit like this and echoes of wisdom is like we're testing. Not testing the waters but like trying to satiate the people who have been asking for a Zelda led game forever. Because in their minds it's link. Just like in their minds for a main Mario game. It's Mario.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah, but then there was.
Tim Gettys
Now it's Donkey Kong.
Blessing Adio Ye
Now it's Donkey Kong. And then there was a peach one that people didn't like as much.
Tim Gettys
Madden NFL 2026 coming August 14th again, very cool.
Andy Cortez
I, you know, I sit there and I, you know, I'm not interested in Madden this year just because my football ups and downs or whatever. But I love the fact that it is a full fledged Madden on the switch. Looks like it runs really well. Yeah, great. That's what I would want.
Greg Miller
What if the Bears get really good?
Andy Cortez
No, no, no, no, please. No, no, no. It has nothing to do with the fact that Bears have ate shit and sucked my entire. I was thinking about this last night doing dishes. Oh yeah, they remember when just fucking Walter Payton's ghost was batting in field goal so we could go to the Super Bowl. We got crushed by the Colts and I'll never forget it.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Rex is our quarterback. What a season that was. But no, it's not that. No. All I've ever known my entire life is the Bears being bad. It's just the way my life's played out.
Greg Miller
Peyton Manning really took a deal.
Tim Gettys
Fuck.
Andy Cortez
God damn, that sucked.
Tim Gettys
Chilling by the fire coming out later today on the switch two go outside.
Greg Miller
Dorks.
Tim Gettys
This again back on my hater. Something about this rub me the wrong way.
Blessing Adio Ye
What?
Tim Gettys
Like this rub me the wrong way because it looks like a VR shovelware game.
Blessing Adio Ye
But what's wrong with that?
Tim Gettys
I don't know. This is where I had hope.
Andy Cortez
This is where I had hoped that I would get Moonlighter today. Where I was like, oh man, it is a lot of big publishers and oh, we're doing this weird indie thing. We got a shot, we got a shot that maybe we're going to get Moonlighter today.
Blessing Adio Ye
I'm just saying, dude, this game just came out five years too late. If this came out beginning of pandemic, it'd be in the same conversation as that jump rope game that Nintendo put out for no reason. Like this would have been a hit.
Greg Miller
You need that avatar of, you know, Mark Zuckerberg looking all weird, popping up in the like, it's. I don't disagree with you, Tim. I think it was. I think it's an odd choice to have this here and I don't really know if this is like the, the right audience. I just don't know. Feels weird.
Blessing Adio Ye
It's 1,000% here. Just because they have the camera functionality.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, 100%. Yeah, that's what they want to get. Then I'd probably Do a cease. You know, again, it's good to see indie representation or whoever this is. Come on, do it. I'll ask you this, Timothy Eddies, and I will ask everyone. Tim, how much would you pay for chilling by the fire?
Tim Gettys
How much would I pay for.
Andy Cortez
How much would you pay for this?
Tim Gettys
I mean, me personally.
Andy Cortez
No, you are. You're pricing it to be on the store right now.
Tim Gettys
I mean, that's the problem, is that I, like. I get that there's some people that like cozy games.
Andy Cortez
Filibuster.
Barrett Courtney
$5.
Blessing Adio Ye
Thank you, Barrett.
Greg Miller
Maybe.
Tim Gettys
Okay, 5 is the answer. That just sounds like they're not 10.
Blessing Adio Ye
On the high end, but $5 on the highest.
Greg Miller
I'd go 750.
Andy Cortez
14.99. Chilling by the fire over there on your Nintendo.
Blessing Adio Ye
That's rough.
Greg Miller
What's the skill tree?
Tim Gettys
Look?
Andy Cortez
Thanks a lot, Obama.
Blessing Adio Ye
I mean, there are levels. Let's see.
Tim Gettys
It's.
Barrett Courtney
It like, this feels like a mechanic that they try to stretch out into a game. And that's why I came out five years.
Greg Miller
But I'll say if you rewind, like, five seconds, you don't need that many campfires. Why are there multiple campfires?
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, like, everybody has their own campfire. Like, what the are we doing?
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
That is weird. That is kind of weird.
Andy Cortez
You all say this, but I think we should start holding our meetings. If somebody can't be here, we shouldn't do it in Discord. We should do it in chilling by the fire.
Blessing Adio Ye
We can't.
Tim Gettys
Brian.
Greg Miller
I told you I was bringing the campfire. Why'd you all bring your own?
Blessing Adio Ye
I would have loved being, like, dev room. Because I feel like with the whole everybody has their own campfire thing, I feel like you're losing the point of it, and you kind of miss out on the interaction between.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Blessing Adio Ye
Like, if you're gonna do that, it should be a sip and paint game where you have, like, your fake wine or whatever. I guess in your Nintendo game, it could be soda. And then you're just painting things with friends. You have your own canvas. Oh, your camera's still showing. But then, like, you can, like, turn your canvas around to show your friends what you're painting. And it's like, it's so nice, you know, I feel like there's other things we can do with this format that could, like, really go hard.
Greg Miller
Dick.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah. Because you're. When you're.
Tim Gettys
It's.
Blessing Adio Ye
You're given the option to draw on a video game. You're gonna draw a dick.
Greg Miller
Oh, okay. Okay, okay.
Tim Gettys
Apex Legends coming To the Switch one.
Andy Cortez
That's what it said in the thing over here. Chad. Let me know if that's a typo in their own Apex.
Greg Miller
Been on Switch. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
I'm just telling you what the. The press release they had from Nintendo said.
Blessing Adio Ye
Plus, I mean, yeah, I mean it's cool. This is one of those ones where it's a. You're checking out the checklist of like games that you port and so now.
Andy Cortez
I see where I fucked up. Sorry. It is on me. It starts at the top headed to Switch two. If you log into your Nintendo Switch system today. Sorry, my apologies.
Blessing Adio Ye
Gotcha. Hope it runs better. I assume it's gonna run better. So that's exciting for the Switch audience.
Greg Miller
The footage they mentioned that they said like better visuals, smoother.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, it looked definitely better.
Blessing Adio Ye
For sure. Yeah. But beyond that, I don't have much thought here except Andy and Mike should play with me.
Tim Gettys
Hela coming to the Switch 2 in 2026. See the world through the eyes of a tiny yet brave mouse in a handcrafted world inspired by Scandinavian folklore. As Andy was saying, we got to see this at the Xbox GDC showcase earlier this year and it looks great. Like such a fun little adventure. There are a lot of mouse games, but I like that this one has.
Andy Cortez
A unique visual style and you play with your friends. Another game we could have our meetings in. I just want to play more games in the office and we have to have meetings.
Tim Gettys
We should play games.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I want to tinker with it. You know, I'll probably. This one looks gorgeous. Not on Switch. I mean, let me take that back. Even right now, what we're seeing from the direct looks gorgeous. So I can only imagine what it's going to look like on PC, Xbox, PlayStation. So I'd probably go play this kind of game there to see if I'm into it.
Barrett Courtney
Also, they only uploaded this in 1080p, so. Okay. It's hard to get like even on my screen it looks really like the bit rate isn't great. So maybe it looks better.
Tim Gettys
Maybe Star Wars Outlaws come to switch to September 4, 2025 where he knew about that. But I think that's good. What you woofing about?
Barrett Courtney
Just the visual quality of this game. On the Switch, there seem to have.
Greg Miller
Been be some rough shots where things are looking real noisy because it's just doing its best to try to exist. It's doing its best to like keep up the frame rate so that they kind of lower the resolution in some.
Barrett Courtney
Spots, play it on a other system. If you really want to.
Greg Miller
I really want to give it. Give it another shot with what they've kind of fixed. Done to. Yeah. Rewire it.
Andy Cortez
Re.
Greg Miller
Rework it in a way replant it. Plants versus Zombies. Was that the next one?
Tim Gettys
No, we already talked about. Next up is Kronos the New dawn coming September 5th. Switch to. For pre orders on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series. Players can choose between two editions. Standard for 60. And on Switch 2, it's 60 as well. Cool.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Again, this is kind of what you're talking about, right? Tim of like, hey, these are the games that you can get right away on the Switch 2. I think it's nice to have parity. There's. Again, it's a game that for me, I don't know, it's interesting to talk about what I'll play on Switch versus what I'll play everywhere else because the portability convenience of Kronos doesn't appeal to me. This is. I want it in the basement, giant tv, all lights off, headset on. You know what I mean? Like, that's the experience I want. Not me on an airplane or on a bus playing it or something. So, like, it's cool that it's there for the folks you're talking about that only have a Switch to. It's cool that it's there to drive home this point that, hey, guess what? Bigger games are going to come to the Switch day and day. Awesome. But not where I'd play it.
Tim Gettys
Kobe Super Chat. The biggest surprise was Chronos getting a release date here, but not at its preview events. Pretty cool though.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
The marketing beat for you.
Greg Miller
Yeah. I think seeing this for sure maybe gives me the most hope for what? You know, those dev kids are out there. This is kind of the. The one that gives me the most hope for maybe the next partner showcase.
Blessing Adio Ye
Do you think this means Silent Hill 2 is not far behind? Coming to Switch to the Blueberry team, right?
Greg Miller
I don't see why not. Yeah, I don't see why not. Honestly, I think that's something that could happen. Maybe you. Wait, when is Kronos again? Okay, maybe. Maybe November. Silent Hills. Like I was thinking like Halloween time.
Blessing Adio Ye
Oh, that'd be sick.
Tim Gettys
Kiwami 2, November 13th. Coming to switch 2.
Andy Cortez
Yay. People love Yakuza. Roger does. And I mean, Roger, if you're listening in, what was the one that was at launch? They had a one of the zero. Like zero was. And I know that didn't run well. Roger wasn't happy with that. You hope for Better stuff here with Kiwami 2 Kwame 1 also going to come out to Switch 2. It's already out on Switch 1, their newest Switch to edition apparently on November 13th as well. Apparently there's a bundle.
Blessing Adio Ye
Midway through this trailer, I had the foolish thought of what if I picked up and try to play Yakuza again. I gotta stop.
Andy Cortez
How many times you tried this?
Blessing Adio Ye
It's been like five times. I'll be trying to play.
Greg Miller
This could be the one.
Andy Cortez
That's my.
Greg Miller
Oh wow.
Andy Cortez
Eating my bobos.
Greg Miller
Thanks for the bobo, Nick. God, these. These damn bobos are so good.
Tim Gettys
So good. Then we got a little montage. Borderlands 4 coming October 3rd romancing saga 2 Revenge of the Seven coming later today. Hello Kitty Island Adventures Wheat Flower Wonderland coming in. The DLC is coming Fall 2025 Shinobi Art of Vengeance coming August 29th demo available today, which is very, very exciting.
Barrett Courtney
I have a question for Andy Cortez to preview this game.
Tim Gettys
Yes.
Barrett Courtney
What makes you so excited? Just because you realize the embargo was a couple of days ago. What has you so excited about Shinobi Art of Engines?
Greg Miller
The art style is awesome as hell. And it's mainly the combat and the way the combat progressed in a way that I think when I first got my hands on the sticks and got to play this the I was bummed that I think just out of habit I try to do the Prince of Persia Lost Crown thing where if I attack with a normal attack, I expect just a straightforward strike and if I hit up an attack, I expect something to knock him up and down attack. I want it, you know, I want that directionality and immediately this game doesn't have that. I was like, ah man. It might just be kind of your standard 2D metroidvania with an awesome art style, granted. But the way that you progress and continue to unlock moves that all work with the combos. There were a couple of like PlayStation trophies that I was popping because you can juggle these enemies in the sky or not in the sky, but just like if you. You hit him a couple times and knock him up into the air, then hit him and knock him back down, throw the shuriken and that continues the combo. Then we knock him back up, throw another shirk in that continues it. It just felt so good. The. The audio. The audio and audio design was so damn good. The chunkiness and crunchiness of all the attacks was freaking awesome and the ultimate moves were great and boss fights were a freaking blast. I enjoyed this more because I enjoyed what I played of this more than what I. The several hours I played of Rage Boundaries because I just think they're going. Even though they're both 2D side scrolling, you know, ninja games, they are going for something very different design wise. Where Ninja Gaiden Ragebound I think feels a lot more like the way we spoke of it as an act, as a. A rhythm game. And I think Shinobi Art of Vengeance feels more what I would expect from a Metroidvania with all of the different moves you can do. And again, Ninja gotten Ragebound is a lot more. You know, the normal enemies die in one hit and then the chunkier enemies may require a certain ability. This one just. There's a lot more free form to what you're doing and yeah, I just. I really, really dug it. I was. I walked away from that preview going like, oh, I didn't. I expected to be way higher on Rage Bound and was not necessarily. But this one seems like it's going to be really, really awesome.
Tim Gettys
I can't wait. It looks. I can't believe I'm getting both Ninja Guiding Rage Bound and this. It looks so good. I don't think I've ever seen a game that I see a screenshot of and I'm like, I'm not sure about this art style. And you see it in motion. Like this is the best thing I've ever seen in my goddamn life and a lot.
Greg Miller
And again it's. It's the hand drawn nature of it. It's not using a puppet tool with a single singular drawn character. And you just see the arm kind of way. You know, like I think of Nidhogg the way, you know, that's a very, very different art style. But they move like they are built as just like a puppet rig or whatever. But this every character and everything is all 2D hand animated. So you are seeing the frame by frame, hand, hand animated motions and attacks and it feels awesome. I. There were some sound design issues with like a random thing being way louder than it should have been and I think those are just weird kind of bugs. But when you are fighting and performing combos, it's just. It's satisfying. It looks good, it sounds good.
Andy Cortez
It's.
Greg Miller
I think it's gonna be a banger.
Tim Gettys
Hell yeah. Barrett, real quick, can you bring that trailer up again and go to the end? Because I saw something that I think might interest bless for the dlc.
Barrett Courtney
Oh, the DLC stuff?
Tim Gettys
Yeah. SEGA Villain Stage Downloadable Content SEGA Villain.
Blessing Adio Ye
Stage Take this shadow.
Tim Gettys
Like what's this gonna be interesting. Interesting.
Blessing Adio Ye
Gonna be them characters from Yakuza.
Greg Miller
Yeah, dude. The upgrades in this game were just so much more compelling to me than they were in Ninja Garden, Ragebound. The stuff that you are. The special moves are L1 plus face buttons. So you could put a water Type Perry on L1X and you could put the fire range thing on L1 circle. But if you get a cooler upgrade, you can replace the fire one on L1 circle with something else. It just, it had a lot more personality to it with the moves that you were using. It was awesome.
Tim Gettys
Hell yeah. NBA Bounce was next up. Bounce rise from rookie to pro in this arcade style basketball game coming September 26th.
Greg Miller
I'm excited for this. I mean not, not really, but like I want to check it out.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah, I have friends that, that are working on this one and like when they're describing it, I was like, oh, that's really neat. I never thought about the fact that like an M A kids game, like a genuine children's game getting the NBA license is kind of bizarre, different and weird. And I with it, like, that's really cool.
Greg Miller
I love basketball games. And you will, you know, if you've ever watched any of our content where we speak or where we talk about 2k basketball games and just how not into them I've been for several years now. I've just been kind of wanting a. Any sort of basketball thing that isn't the 2K experience. And yeah, I'm excited to try this one out. This seems like it could be cute and fun. Get a little, you know, 3v3 squad party mode going or something.
Andy Cortez
We all miss jam, right? So like why not? We do not do this. You got some party effects. Okay.
Tim Gettys
And then the final one in the montage. Greg. Good night Universe.
Andy Cortez
Good night Night Universe. This went up, we looked at it. First person baby or something said, that's a great game. That's something I'm going to want to know more about. But then I got the press release about it and I was like, God damn it, why'd they fucking shove this in the montage like this? Developer Night Stream and publisher Skybound Games have announced via today's Nintendo Direct that Good night Universe, the spiritual successor to BAFTA winning before your eyes in winner of the 2024 Tribeca Games Award, will be available on November 11 for Switch Switch to PlayStation, Xbox, PC on camera compatible platforms. Goodnight Universe uses innovative camera as a controller mode that debuted in before your eyes but now in new and inventive ways as you step into the role of Isaac, a six month old baby developing a mysterious psychic power. That's all. Awesome. That sounded incredible. I fucking loved before your eyes. So I'm all about this game already, Timothy. Here's where it gets you. The leading cast includes Lewis Pullman Thunderbolts and Top Gun Maverick as the main character, Isaac.
Tim Gettys
Whoa. Not named Bob.
Andy Cortez
That's crazy.
Tim Gettys
Oh yeah, yeah.
Andy Cortez
There's a bunch of other people from Reno, 911, the Daily Show, Matt. They got Bo Bridges from Matlock and Homeland. What the Timothy Simons from Veep. And nobody wants this. Like I don't know why I thought you were talking all about this.
Tim Gettys
Let's go.
Andy Cortez
Hell yeah, let's go. I. I missed that this was the spiritual successor to before your eyes. I'm all about it. I can't wait.
Tim Gettys
That's cool.
Greg Miller
You think Bill Pullman plays video games?
Tim Gettys
No. Really I don't.
Andy Cortez
Do you? Bill Pullman, his dad, President of the United States, Lewis Pullman. Ah, Lewis Pullman.
Greg Miller
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
He's played a game here, there, okay.
Tim Gettys
Here and there. And then the final two. The Adventures of Elliot the Millennium Tales.
Greg Miller
Let me play it.
Blessing Adio Ye
Give it to.
Tim Gettys
A brand new action RPG from the creators of Traveler and bravely default. The Adventures of Elliot Millennium Tales combines captivating HD 2D visuals and action adventure gameplay to create a top down journey in a wide open world woven across time and space. Coming to switch to 2026, an exclusive demo is available now. Andy has it in his hands. Hell yeah. I don't like shout out to Philip B.
Greg Miller
One thing with Amelia Bedelia. One thing I don't like is it looks like when someone does a parody logo and you know, just puts, you know, if a person's name was Elliot but they wanted to be the metaphor refantazio logo. That's what it reminds me of. I just don't like how the, the word Elliot is kind of like in that slanted form. But everything else about this game beside.
Andy Cortez
From this dude's stupid ass hat outfit's no good. My lady.
Greg Miller
Stupid ass hat.
Andy Cortez
My lady.
Greg Miller
This is kind of what I've been wanting from a lot of these different games or have been wanting other devs to take a swing at this style of game because we've seen Square put out a lot of these amazing looking video games that are just never quite my jam because of the style that they're in because of them being turn based style games. And I'm always like, all right, well if Square's not gonna do it, can somebody else do it? I really Want a top down Zelda style game or just a top down action rpg? Give me a dodge. I'll give me a. And this is like, oh, shit, they're doing it. Finally. This is exciting.
Tim Gettys
Yes.
Andy Cortez
Awesome. Can't fucking wait. Like, what an art style. I love a good action rpg. I hate the red hat. I hate the fedoras. In the chat, Chris says, dude, don't diss fedoras. Chris, we take your fedora off. We need you to sit down for a second and just listen. We're coming to you as your friend.
Greg Miller
All right?
Andy Cortez
We're coming to you as your friend. Chris, take off the fedora.
Greg Miller
Take it off.
Andy Cortez
You got to get rid of the fedoras, man. I understand that you're like, oh, it's my thing. It's not a good thing.
Greg Miller
Your friends laugh at you for the.
Andy Cortez
It's not a good thing. Chris, if you have them.
Greg Miller
The one friend.
Andy Cortez
It's not a good. Exactly. And he might be wearing fedora, too. Now you turn to him and you say, we shouldn't be wearing the fedoras. The fedoras are not a look. We are not 1920 gangsters. So that means it's only one other thing, and it's not a good thing. Don't wear the fedora. Okay. I wish somebody had told me about jean shorts back in the day. They didn't. I'm telling you, don't wear the fedora or jean shorts.
Tim Gettys
Octopath Traveler 0 was announced. That's kind of crazy.
Andy Cortez
Fuck yeah. I mean, especially on the heels of this, where it started. Like, oh, is it octopath? No, it's the Adventures of Elliot the Millennium Tales. How could I not know that? Okay, cool. This looks awesome. Action rpg. Cool, cool, cool. And then to roll right into octopath traveler 0. And again, for me to be a fan and be like, oh, we're creating a character for the first time. Dope. Okay, cool. We're creating a town, a homestead. All right. Neat. That sounds rad as hell. I'm all about this. Let's go.
Blessing Adio Ye
Yeah. You genuinely could have started this off with either Octopath or.
Andy Cortez
Yep, that's what I was thinking to Elliot.
Blessing Adio Ye
And, like, you know, have them be the start in the end of it because these were the two most exciting announcements here. And, like, Octopath Traveler, again, it's one of those game series that's avoided me as far as, like, I've wanted to get into Octopath, but it's always like, the thing of place and time and move of Course, but like these games continue to look gorgeous. I think this one is interesting as far as like you know it, introducing it. Of all right, you're playing as this character. Name it. The default name is zero, which is fucking cool. And then like I'm very curious about what they got going on at the 1. I'm curious about this town building shit because it is giving Dark Cloud a little bit, which I'm all the way into. But then I'm also fascinated by what they had going on with the ending shot of like all those characters standing in a row.
Andy Cortez
Well, you're still recruiting. You're still recruiting a team. I believe the press Release said there's 30 recruitable characters.
Blessing Adio Ye
Oh, that's really cool.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, yeah. So that's always a big part of October.
Barrett Courtney
Fans on the Internet were quick to kind of see that a lot of elements of this game are inspired by the mobile gacha game.
Tim Gettys
Oh, interesting.
Barrett Courtney
But taking out the mobile Gotcha element and recontextualizing things, it seems that there might be characters from that mobile game in this.
Andy Cortez
Can I give you some here?
Tim Gettys
Yeah, give it to me. Give it to me.
Andy Cortez
Jumping into their rundown of what's already happening. Right. Well, the game features returning core elements from the series and for the first time in the series history, players will be able to customize their own protagonist and rebuild their hometown after it was destroyed. The story builds upon the mobile game Octopath Traveler champions of the continent, adding new story content where players rebuild their town and reinterpreted story. Reinterpreted story beats unfold throughout. Fans familiar with the series can enjoy the return. Blah, blah, blah. So it sounds like, yeah, it's pulling stuff from that game for sure.
Greg Miller
Everybody knows I'm a big turn based fan. Turn base.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, we do know that. Yeah.
Greg Miller
Played 15 hours of metaphor. We found Tazio, really enjoyed that.
Barrett Courtney
I was proud of you for that actually.
Greg Miller
Great, solid game, solid all the way through. But the I would say Octopath is one of those because of its art style. Like I already mentioned and talked about how much I really enjoy the visuals of it. Octopath is one that I've always wanted to give a solid go. And legitimately the town building stuff mixed with create a character and having feeling like you have more player agency, that could be the, the, you know, variables that gets me in there. Dude.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. 30 recruitable party members.
Tim Gettys
December 4th. Coming to switch one and switch two. But Gamespot reports the full post from Square Enix reads it's not possible to upgrade from the Switch version to the Switch 2 version. Once purchased, there are no plans for an option to upgrade to the switch 2 version. So please make sure you purchase the correct version.
Greg Miller
Warn people ahead of time.
Andy Cortez
GameSpot's got this big article about it's like, all right, well I get it but like just buy the right version. Finish it before you buy your Switch too.
Tim Gettys
Let's get to the chats. GR says this direct was nowhere near as bad as people say. Take it for what it is and not all the crazy predictions people make. I give it a 6.5 out of 10. We got some new IP so I'm.
Blessing Adio Ye
Just laughing of like oh y' all are too harsh on it and then they give it one point.
Andy Cortez
Still not it's sniffing it good.
Tim Gettys
I I don't I so this was an early super chat, so I don't think that this is reacting to us. I think it's reacting to the the Internet. Ty Wilkins says the Adventure of Elliot A Millennials Tale in Philadelphia. All honesty though, this looks like an interesting and very pretty Zelda. Like yeah, it looks awesome.
Greg Miller
Yeah dude, this is cool so far. I'm running around. You running around as a stupid ass hat.
Tim Gettys
Rance Cox says, I can't remember who's on Games Daily after this, so I want to say it now. Tim, I'm proud of you for bringing the book today. I did bring the book today.
Andy Cortez
Tim brought the book today. Of course you knew if you follow me on Instagram, you saw my stories.
Tim Gettys
What book?
Andy Cortez
The Expanse. Me and Tim are going to read the first book of the Expanse series.
Greg Miller
Oh no way.
Andy Cortez
We like the game. The game trailer looks so good.
Tim Gettys
I promised I was going to read chapter I didn't realize it was as.
Andy Cortez
Big as I didn't realize it was as big as the new James Bible or whatever the the thing.
Blessing Adio Ye
It's the King James Bible become Jimmy. Or the new international version.
Tim Gettys
Opponent's prime says 6 out of 10. More like Nintendo Portner Showcase. Am I right? That's the problem. It wasn't. It needed more. I needed more ports. Some okay stuff. But at this point why not just push me announcements like these ports to Nintendo today instead of wasting money on a video package.
Greg Miller
Yeah, like give me a reason to bust open that app, you know?
Tim Gettys
Kebab says I'm looking for my brother Elliot.
Andy Cortez
Elliot.
Blessing Adio Ye
I think there's like big battlefield news coming in.
Andy Cortez
It sounds like from chat 1010 25. Looks like release day there open beta.
Tim Gettys
Mike's about to stream it in just.
Andy Cortez
A few Mike will be streaming here and it will be on Twitch because of the way it works. So Twitch TV is kind of funny games we will probably have to cut or not probably we have to cut before it goes up.
Tim Gettys
Cheesehead Troy says. Tim had me so hyped thinking the Switch 2 was going to be a third party monster and the showcase was a huge let down. The Switch 2 is just not worth it.
Blessing Adio Ye
Up with you Tim.
Andy Cortez
Send him money.
Blessing Adio Ye
Your fault.
Andy Cortez
You did this.
Tim Gettys
You already refer to everything else I said earlier in the show, C.J. splitzen says. A bit off topic, but Tim Twisted metal has a 92% rotten tomato score. Yeah, show's out now. Can't wait to watch this. What do you mean already?
Barrett Courtney
It feels like it came out of nowhere a little bit.
Tim Gettys
I'm hyped to man let's go Axle baby. Kobe aren't says biggest surprise was no we already read that one Nimble Trent says, Honestly never thought we'd get another octopath so stoked for that. It's that and Elliot why Final Fantasy Tactics isn't using the HD2D style is upsetting. We agree, we agree. Foxy Steve says, I thought this was a six, had some neat ports and the new Square Enix games look really cool. I think we'll see more at the next main direct. Jose de Luna says, have you guys talked about how easily the switch to screen scratches? I treated it perfectly in full scratches in one week. Yeah, Barrett had issues with that also.
Greg Miller
I'm a cat.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah I was completely fine for a few days and then just took it out of the dock normally and it was just like five scratches. Like I just thrown it across the room. It was tough. I got a protective case for it and it hid most of the scratches. There's one tiny one that it's like not super noticeable but I know it's there. It makes that's the worst kind for you.
Tim Gettys
Penguin Corn says winter starts on December 21st. Hyrule warriors is 2026. Yeah maybe Ty Wilkin says that's your link standing calling it maybe. Alex Motor says has anyone else received an email from Nintendo the last 24 hours it was focused on preferences on digital slash physical slash key card for purchasing games.
Barrett Courtney
I did not know really quick someone else in the chat earlier Tim said that maybe the link stand in is possibly the hero of Legends that we see with like the red orange hair and that could be cool.
Tim Gettys
Wait, that could be really cool because.
Barrett Courtney
We get his outfit in tears.
Greg Miller
The kingdom huh?
Barrett Courtney
Think about it.
Tim Gettys
Are we beating this game? Barrett Is it?
Andy Cortez
Maybe.
Blessing Adio Ye
Maybe.
Tim Gettys
Alex J. Sandoval says if you need to kill a couple minutes before Mike takes over, maybe watch the Battlefield 6 multiplayer trailer. There's a surprise in it for Andy and Greg. We're not going to have time to do that, but I'm interested in what the surprise is. Cognitive clip says Shinobi art style similar to bow path of the Teal Lotus. Yeah, that's true. Jessica Hinkle says, Greg, I formally request for you to wear jean shorts and fedoras for all of October and played the character just to make a point.
Andy Cortez
At first I hated it. Then I kind of came around. What am I doing?
Greg Miller
It could be a good idea.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. Andy, how long did Hong Lu take you? Three hours from me.
Greg Miller
Hong Lu in Wuchong. Are you talking about the. The monster beast or are you talking about Hong Lan? Because Hong on is the one that should take you the longest.
Blessing Adio Ye
Hang on.
Greg Miller
But I would say like maybe two hours, something like that.
Tim Gettys
Trevor says, not Nintendo related, but Battlefield multiplayer looks great. Can't wait. So I like the Battlefield hype is beginning here because Mike himself, the Snowbike Mike, is about to play for your viewing pleasure. If you're watching on Twitch, stay where you are. If you're watching on YouTube, make the jump over, refresh if you need to. If things go wonky because we are switching over to a different feed, we would be great.
Andy Cortez
Well, it's just Twitch.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah, it's just a Twitch only. But we might, depending on Twitch, backend stuff. We might upload that VOD to YouTube for later for, you know, people who can't watch live to see what Battlefield 6 is all about. Through the eyes of Snowbike Mike, love is a Battlefield.
Tim Gettys
Thank you for hanging out with us. Enjoy, Mike. Enjoy the battlefield. Enjoy yourself. Goodbye.
