This episode's brought to you by Aura Frames and Shady Rays. But we'll tell you about that later. What's up? And welcome back to the Kinda Funny Gamescast for Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2025, the second one of the day. Earlier today we reviewed Luminous, Arise and Possessors. You can check that out. But today we're talking all about the PlayStation State of Play Japan that we just watched. If you want to watch our live react, you can check that out as well. But we're about to break down everything that we just saw. Of course. I'm Tim Geddes. I'm joined by Blessing at AO Junior.
D
Good day, Tim Snowbike, Mike.
B
Hello, Tim and Andy Cortez.
C
Hey, Tim.
B
Hello to you all. Very excited to get into this. Of course. This is the games cast. Each and every weekday we get together to talk about video games. Whether it's reviews, previews or just big topics. Sometimes it's us reacting to whatever we just saw. And that's what we're doing today. If you love that, please support us with the Kind of Funny membership on Patreon, YouTube, Spotify or Apple podcast to get all of our shows and a daily exclusive. Greg Way that today was done by Roger. So you can check that out. We are an 11 person business all about live talk shows. We've done a lot today. We've done games daily, we did a gamescast, we did a stream, we did the reaction. Here we are doing this. If you're a kind of funny member, you get Greg's or Rogers Greg Way. Thank you to our Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney the Psalm Twining. For now, start with the topic of the show. The first ever PlayStation State of Play Japan is in the books Blessing. What did you think?
D
I really enjoyed that. I think we all went into it with lowered expectations just because this was a new thing, right? New brand within the state of plays. A brand with a specific focus on a specific region. And the way they talked about it going in for the PlayStation Blog, all the words I read made me go all right, let me not think the world of this thing. Did it deliver the world? No. But for me I think it delivered a certain flavor.
E
Right.
D
Like focusing in on that certain niche. I think really gave this presentation character. More character than I feel like we usually get from PlayStation. The fact that Barrett, if you can remind me the name of the host or at least some of the roles that he did, Yuki Kaji Kaji, who's
C
the voice of Aaron Yeager in Attack on Titan and the voice of Shoto Todoroki in My Hero Academia, I think
D
he really centered it. I really like them having a host that is somebody who is all right, here's a personality that some of our audience might be familiar with that is going to interview people that is going to lead in between segments and do all that stuff. I think that gave it a really solid base and also I think the games they talked about here were a good mixture. I think on the indie side, really like seeing Motion Wreck. That game looks really cool. That's the 2D like low bit lo fi platformer where you can rewind time. And then also closing off with Marvel Token Fighting Souls Night Rain, the Forsaken Hollows. For me, I got a lot that I really enjoyed out of this. I had a good time, Mike Tim,
E
I had a fine time. It was a nice time. It felt very targeted for a certain audience and I like that they had a different theme and vibe to it. I think they really nailed the the flow of the show. On the interview side. They kept it short, sweet, just a couple of questions and answers and it really got in and out. We never felt like it dragged ever. This as a presentation felt like a lot of games I already knew about a Nice little. Hey, let me just remind you of the inconvenience of the world that you might have not keeping on your list. I continue to see Dragon Quest 7 reimagined and I say there's a world where I play that right? There's a world where I dump everything and play Octopath Traveler because I know I want to experience that. I just never have the time nor do I. But I got treated to some cool looking horror games from Broken Lore, Unfollow and Ascend, which I really like. Fatal Frame 2, the remake of that. I'm excited to play that. So this was a nice. Hey, here's some games that you might have forgot about Mike. But this was probably a really good one of like hey, we are targeting an audience here. We want to set the stage for what could be the future. And I think they did a good job at that.
C
Andy I enjoyed my time. I like these even if there's stuff that maybe doesn't necessarily speak to me. I think we had a lot of laughs and a lot of fun on this reaction. I I think that it was like totally fine. Mediocre for the most part until we really kind of got hit with Marvel to on Fighting Souls and getting those updates there along with Elden Ring Night, Ring Forsaken Halls which is like oh, was not expecting that. Especially after the recent reports of it'll be out before March of the fiscal year and thinking like okay, we'll probably get a notification about this or trailer in February of next year. So awesome surprise there. Tim. Don't forget about Damon and baby. Yeah, that's. That'll be after Family Guy on Fox. Tim, what'd you think?
B
I. I'm kind of in line with you guys. I think that this was very good. I think more than anything I'm impressed that I think it served its purpose very well. Like in terms of achieving its goal. They nailed it. Like this was very much to sell the Japanese audience. On upgrading to a PlayStation 5 from the PlayStation 4. I was surprised at how many times we heard the words PS4 throughout that entire presentation. Then yeah, them ending it kind of like reminding people why the PS5 has value, why you'd want to jump in now explaining the PlayStation portal. We could look at that and be like why are they doing this? They made it very clear especially offering a discounted Japan only PlayStation 5. It's pretty. There's a strong argument to upgrade or buy one for the first time based on the games that they showed that audience. Right. Having said that, 99% of these. Not for me. A lot of these we have heard about. I do think we did get a lot of release dates, though, that we didn't know before. And I always talk about presentations, answering the questions that we have. And I think that they answered a ton of them here and yeah, some just like updates on things that we. We've heard about. Like, that's cool. Obviously the bigger heavy hitters, Marvel and Elden, Ring Night Rain, it's like they got some big ones. I don't think that they really brought it with the Marvel side. I would have liked to have seen a new character, like, you know, or at least more stuff there. But elder Ring Night Rain, that is bigger than this thing could have had. Right. But I also think that's a good example of where this is. So I. I support this and I haven't even talked about the presentation. Loved it. I feel like this, the interview, the having a person that is. We can like latch onto and kind of like walk us through and not have the interviews go too long. Like, all that stuff is awesome. I want to see more of this. I think that this has a really nice home alongside PlayStation's other marketing beats. And maybe this could be a place that some of the less interesting to me, games that we see in some of the other state of plays can kind of like fall into this, you know, because they are speaking to an audience with a lot of the. The games that I couldn't even write down because I don't know how to spell them. You know what I mean? The type of stuff that clearly, literally, not for me.
D
So, yeah, I want to shout out, like to get back to the host stuff.
C
Right.
D
Like, I think they found a really good tone here that I appreciate where there's character to it. I feel like there's been past PlayStation State of Plays, many of them that have felt dry. Like, dry would be the word I'd use for them. Even though there is quality in the production and the graphic packages and stuff they use, there is still a level of. All right, cool. I'm just looking at shapes between. Between games or, you know, Sean Benson or whoever will come in between games and like, tell us a little bit of things, then go away. I. The host they had here, I thought did a really good job of kind of balancing the. All right, we still don't want to go full goofy here with PlayStation because, you know, I think that's just something they stray away from. I wish they leaned into it more, but there was. There was a certain level of charm that I think the host brought here that like had me. I, I think allowed me to have more fun than if these were just trailers after trailers because.
B
Absolutely.
D
Yeah. If they, if it was just that, I think I'd be here like, oh yeah. Okay. That was boring as hell. But I think he did a great job. I think they stringed along nicely.
B
Andy, I want to kind of start at the end a little bit here. You pop the off for your boy Artorious.
E
Mm.
C
That. You nailed it.
B
Yeah, yeah. Tell me more.
C
He's the Abyss Walker, Tim. Oh, well, it's just, it's just awesome seeing added old bosses that, you know, much of what Elden Ring Night reign is, is the, the final eight bosses you set out to go defeat or were all brand new things. But many bosses along the way would be bosses that you've seen throughout the Dark Souls series and throughout Elden Ring. And we were always wondering who's going to be the next to show up in, you know, whatever the following DLC will be. And you know, I was always hoping to see Artorias and there's a handful of others that you would want to see. Just a feeling like, all right, who would lend itself best to a multiplayer type boss fight. So really awesome to see Artorias there, especially just to see him. You know, this is a. That It's a Dark Souls 1 title. So it's like I'm excited to see how he looks in this full kind of more modernized engine. But yeah, new world to explore in sort of this new ghost haunted snowy area in the forsaken Hollows, which looks really, really awesome. And yeah, one of the. The first boss that you ever took on which was like this three headed dog that then splits up, splits out into like just three separate like wolves or whatever. Looks to just be a field boss now. Or maybe they're just putting them in a different section and you know, that's kind of what happens in souls games, Tim, where you beat an early boss and then later on they're just demoted to just normal dude. And it's kind of fascinating to see that. But yeah, we also got new looks at Nightfarers, which is kind of more than I could have asked for for this dlc. Like this is super exciting to get not only a new area to explore, new mini bosses and new nightfares. Very, very exciting stuff.
B
I mean, is this, let me ask like, are you, I don't even want to ask. Is this gonna bring you back? Are you out of Elden Ring Night Rain and are you only out because there's no new content?
C
Um, I. There's just too much to play.
D
The.
C
The amount of times that I've wanted to go back to, to play with other friends or whatever, it's always like there's something else more important and I already beat it. So, like, you know when they were dropping all the Ever Dark bosses, which were just a way to kind of tide players over until the big content drop, but the Ever Darks were like, all right, that new bot, that boss, that it's getting an Ever Dark version, which isn't just a tougher boss. It isn't just like, hey, we're giving it more health and higher damage, but we're adding new phases to the boss fights or whatever. And that was, I think, really, really smart for a lot of the player base to keep players engaged there. But yeah, I mean, mainly fell out just because there was too much stuff to play.
B
So December 4th, just around the corner. Is this like priority one for you?
C
Oh, yeah. Like, I mean, brand new from software content is. It's crazy. Like, I. I can't believe that it's this soon again, especially after the reports that it would definitely land before the fiscal year ends in March. And I just did not assume that we'd be. I thought we'd get a. If we did get a trailer, maybe like the date of February or something, but that's pretty nuts that it's this soon.
B
My.
E
Yeah, I fell off eldering after we completed Night Rain. It didn't hit for me on the live service side that I wanted to. I know we really talked about that of it. Their approach wasn't, hey, we don't want this to be a live service as I wanted it to. Right. I wanted it to keep me all springing into summer long. I wanted to stay in this universe. It very much felt like when we completed all eight or ten of the bosses, I didn't have much to go back to unless I wanted to learn a new character. And so, yeah, anytime you get new fromsoftware content, like Andy said, I'm jumping right in to have some fun. I can't wait to see what they've added. The new zone. Hell yeah.
D
Right?
E
Like, I can't wait to see the new zone. The new pressures that they put on us, the decision making with Andy and Bless whenever we played with our friends of like, hey, how much time do we have? Can we push to that volcano and get it done? Can we push into the main castle and get that boss done? Now adding A new zone that clearly will be the hotspot. It's like, okay, how do you keep that pressure on me of like, hey, you got this, but you don't have this. Keep moving. So, yeah, this is a. This will be high on my list of go for sure. Like, for me, Elden Ring Night Reign, I've said it before, is one of my favorite FromSoftware titles ever.
C
Right.
E
Like the idea of bringing in multiplayer and having you experience a fromsoft title with your friends and like, that kind of push the high lows. I loved this. So, yeah, anytime that we can jump back in, I'm all about it. I'm excited to see who's the new character. Will I vibe with that character? Right? It's great.
C
I mean, yeah, getting a new glimpse at what that boss is like. There's. There's something so special to me that, like, it's like one of your favorite directors putting out a new movie or something. You're like, oh, we're going to get a glimpse at what a new FromSoftware boss is. What are they going to do with it? How are they going to fuck with us? How is the music going to sound? How.
B
What.
C
What are the patterns going to be? Like, it's something that's like just so exciting. And to see that glimpse of like those eight Valkyrie women or whatever across the screen, like, what the hell are they going to be doing with us? Super, super exciting.
B
Blessed. Do you share this excitement?
D
Oh, yeah, 1,000%. Like, this will be the thing that brings you back and hopefully brings you to actually finish the game. Like, that was one of the things that. To the unfortunate thing that Andy brought up as far as there being other games to get to and more important stuff that you want to focus on. Right. Like, I spent so many hours playing Elden Ring Night Rain and then I got to the last couple of bosses and I just went. Went to death Straining two and other games. Right. DK Bonanza and decided to shift my time there. And so it's always been on the back burner and I've been waiting for the time to get back. And DLC coming back means that Andy and Mike will be playing and other people I know we're playing and this is the perfect shot for me to get in there and play more of that game. And so yeah, everything that Andy and Mike mentioned as far as new. New from software content, new bosses, all that shit excites me, especially a new class that really excites me.
C
It was the type of game Tim that whenever friends were trying to get through the experience, I hey, let's do this. Let me run. Let me help run you through it or whatever. And like, I know that the, the player time count may also count on steam from like the past betas or whatever, but I'm at 112 hours in night rain and that ain't shit compared to a lot of the hardcore players. But 112 hours in a game that has an end. This isn't war zone where you're hopping into new matches and always like playing against new things. You are fighting a finite amount of enemies and once you beat them all, you know, I, I tech, I kept on wanting to play. I kept on going like, hey, who else hasn't? Let's do this. I want to play a bit more. So, yeah, this is just super, super
B
exciting chat saying the DLC is 15. I. I'm just gonna assume that that is true. Any thoughts on that?
E
That's a solid, great price. That's depending on how much they add, of course. But I do think $15 is an easy. Hey, if you had a good time, get back into it. Hey, if you had a friend drop off and you got to kind of sell It to them, $15 is that price range where I don't think. You really think twice on it. You don't really hem and haw over the 15 there. So I think that's a solid price. We'll see how much they add, but I think that's right, right in line.
C
I, I agree. Especially when we talk about not being nickeled and dimed in a, in an industry that loves doing that when it comes to cosmetics and when it comes to, you know, teaming up with. Now you're getting my hero academia skins and now you're getting cowboy bebop and overwatching. Like, for them to keep this experience as pure as it can be shows like, I shouldn't be surprised by this, but it shows just like a lot of restraint for a game that blew the up.
E
Like, no microtransactions. Yeah, they could have had me in the studio and I, I'm different from it.
C
There's no story.
E
It's like I would have been like, we're releasing a new boss every week or every other day. Like, let's go get the store in there. Let's sell everything that we could have. Because this game had that trajectory. It easily could have done that. And yeah, they held back on that. So good for them. But yeah, impressive.
B
Plus, I want to stay with you and move on to what I would consider the second biggest thing I hear, which was Marvel to con fighting souls. December 5th through 7th, we're getting a little play test. No breaks. How you feeling?
D
Oh, I'm feeling so good about it. Yeah. No, you know, one of the things I was wondering about was characters, because during the last beta test, we had about, I believe, about six playable characters. And here they're adding in Ghost Rider and Spider man as the highlights of the trailer. And, you know, them being playable for the next big beta test. Very excited about that. The characters look awesome. I don't know how much you've been paying attention, Tim to Marvel ton, but it's 4v4, which is a lot. It's a lot. But also it's like you have one central character. You can switch characters or whatever, but like, it is essentially one health bar that you're working with as you're playing through this game. And so you could play as one character, you could, like, switch between characters, do all that stuff. But, like, this is. This is a game that is very chaotic and has a lot going into it and it still works. Like, I think that was, for me, my main takeaway when I was playing the first beta that they did was, oh, I'm still following along with everything. Everything still presents really well. Like, they showed off a couple of new locations here, including X Mansion. And, you know, the beta that I. That I played earlier, visually, the game looks insane. Like, the game looks so good. And so hearing them talk about some of the new locations really excites me because knowing how well some of the other locations looked, I'm looking at X Mansion and I'm like, let's freaking go. Like, they're going to, you know, fill this thing with detail. They're going to fill this thing with color. They're going to make sure that it pops off the screen. And so that I'm excited for. And yeah, like, you know, the fact that we're getting a beta test so soon, I like the cadence so far. I hope that it is like this as far as us getting regular play tests for this thing until it comes out. And yeah, I'm just super excited about this game. The hub area as well. You know, Mike mentioned it during the live reaction, but he loves the hub areas. I can take him or leave him, but with every new fighting game, it seems like every fighting game is committed.
E
Yeah, we're making a hub.
D
Every major fighting game. I forget if Mortal Kombat has one, but every other one has a hub that you're hanging out in, you know, going up to arcade machines, playing with other people. And I do think they're getting better and better as these games go. And so I'm excited to check out that and see how that works out here. They had it in the last thing, but them reaffirming it here has me curious.
B
Has there been any talk about a story campaign of any sort?
D
No, but that was one of the things that interested me in the interview because they talked about with Ghost Rider, they have Robbie Reyes as the. As the playable character and they mentioned that they wanted to do that version because of the story and they kind of left it at that. I'm very fascinated to see what they
B
mean because there was also. There was a scene following that of it looked kind of like an arena and it was like orange smoke and it was like, yeah, the orange side, whatever. Is that just kind of gameplay Orange side vs. Blue side or is that.
D
That's gameplay. Okay. Yeah, there's always like an orange side, blue side sort of thing going on.
E
Do we have a MCU update, Tim, on Ghost Rider?
B
What do you mean?
E
Like a reason why they would do that? To maybe tie in with the films universe. Of course, as we know, like I
B
think that's kind of the MCU tie in stuff is kind of over. Like that phase is done now. Cuz like you know, now that Marvel literally bought every bought box and bought stuff, it's like we're back to X Men, you know what I mean? Like it's all X Men all the time at this point. But Ghost Rider's been in Agents of SHIELD and like MCU adjacent, if not officially MCU at this point stuff.
D
So Robbie, who's other Ghost Rider, Johnny Blaze. What, what's. Do they have very different relationships to the wider mcu, MCU or not mcu, sorry, Marvel Universe characters outside of them. Because I wonder if that's them maybe talking about character intros and how they talk to each other and how they team up with each other and stuff.
B
Yeah, definitely. And they're, they're very different characters and one of them ends up being a lot more cosmic. There's the cosmic Ghost Rider, which is pretty cool.
D
Is there a reason you think they would go Robbie Reyes as far as maybe types of characters they're including?
B
I'm not the guy to ask like Ghost Riders, not my thing. But I think Johnny Blaze is a sick ass name. And Robbie Reyes has cool ass hair.
E
Yeah, he's got great hair.
C
Johnny Blaz and Johnny Storm, they got beef probably they should. They're fire dudes.
B
Sick ass names.
C
Yeah, yeah. Somebody has to like, take the, like, only I could do fire.
B
Yeah, you could do the skull thing, John. But Andy, I know you are not the fighting game guy at all. Is there anything about this that makes you go, maybe this is the one?
C
No, I mean, I'm stoked to see it played on. On a very high level at an Evo or something like that because I think it is so visually appealing. The. I. I love how despite how detailed everything is, it isn't like noisy, too noisy to look at. I. I'll give it a shot. Just like I did with 2xko when those betas were happening. And you know, I will definitely still be playing this and give it a shot, but I'm not in any way thinking that I. I'm gonna stick with this, especially when there's just. There's always going to be a shitload of games and next year is looking to be even more packed.
E
Yeah.
C
And yeah, this will be one that I definitely want to try out anyway.
D
Tim, Marvel versus Capcom too is one of your favorite games of all time. How's this speaking to you?
B
I mean, it speaks to me definitely, but I mean, again, I'm not good at this at all. And the chat is correcting me that Cosmic Ghost Rider is actually Punisher. I love comic books.
C
Oh, wow.
D
That's crazy.
B
You know, I'm interested but like, I need a story mode. Like that's the thing is like I like, I love Marvel versus Capcom because it introduced me to the world of Marvel in such a real way, like in the 90s and just the little opening and like the, the story bits, right. The little tiny things that you would get of the character interactions. That was just text based essentially like that my imagination filled in all the gaps. Now that I am way, way more versed in in Marvel storytelling and all that stuff and just fighting games, just inherently just playing them doesn't bring me the joy that like video games back then did like that arcade kind of thrill. I need a Mortal Kombat modern Mortal Kombat style campaign to like keep me going. An injustice type thing. Right.
D
So I. So for ARC System Works, I wouldn't be surprised if you had some sort of story mode or campaign mode because they've had adjacent things in both Dragon Ball Fighters and even Guilty Gear Strive has like story stuff in it. But it's like very much almost like visual novelty where you'll go in, read a bunch of stuff and then like, I forget if they even have fights in there, I think it might just be reading. Dragon Ball Fighters had its own story stuff, but even that I remember jumping in being like, okay, I don't really care about what's going on here. And I jumped out and just played competitive. This being Marvel, I don't think you're going to get a like a tekken 8 or a mortal Kombat style thing. But I could see. And this might be the meeting in the middle, right. I could see it being a comic book style. They put the pages on the screen and maybe they have special animations to it and have fights in between it being Arc system works, that's almost the furthest I'd imagine they go with it. But it maybe it could be cool.
B
Yeah, I'm interested, but I just don't think that this is going to be something that actually I can tell you for sure this is not going to like make me a fighting game guy.
D
Oh, for sure.
B
Let's move on. Let's start at the top and see where we're interested. Dragon Warrior 7 reimagine coming February 5, 2026, which I think the release date was new information, but maybe not. Mike, you said that in another world.
E
Yeah, it continues to call to me, right. Like there, there's something interesting to me about Dragon Quest. I would love to play it. I like the Chibi art style here. I like the Chibi giant heads as well. And there's something that's like one day I would sit down and play these games for sure. I don't know if it will be February 5, but it is always high on the list of you could see snow.
B
Mike.
E
Mike. Playing this game one day. Day.
D
I. I love the art style. Except for when you have characters that are. Look like they're supposed to be grown ass characters. You know what I mean? Like there was the one dude who's standing and he looks like he's the sword warrior and he, he looks goofy to me. I don't like it.
B
I just really appreciate that there's a vision for the remake art style. I don't like it at all personally. But like I like that it's not. Hey, just everything has to be HD2D or everything's just kind of up red stuff. Like this is going back to the drawing books, right?
D
Like on that scene that was just playing the three characters to the right. Like the three younger looking characters I'm okay with. Is this motherfucker with the beard. The beard that I don't, I don't Vibe with. I don't, I don't like how he looks.
B
But I'm, I'm thrilled for people that are Dragon Quest people because I know that this is a big one for them and it's been remade before and people really like that. But this very much seems to be what they're, what the people are asking for besides just a new one. Then next up we had Incon in
E
conbini, a 90s slice of life story about a girl taking over I think her mother, grandmother's convenience store.
C
Yeah, convenience means convenience store.
E
Thank you. And so yeah, you'll have a little fun one. It gives lake vibes if you remember that of like it is a sim style where you'll be running the convenience store but it will also have a story involved. I think it's going to tug on your heartstrings. We've played it before at some GDC mixers. It is a lot of fun to stock the shelves. There are kooky fun characters that will stop by the store and talk with you. And so yeah, if you're imagining a lake style game where you, the postal service delivery, you picked it up for your dad and you, you know, you had that kind of moment, this is what you're going to get. And so yeah, I'm high on this.
C
It was at the Xbox, right?
E
Yeah, I was going to say it might be a game game. Pass game as well.
B
Then we had Kof Kofi Coffee Talk, Tokyo, April 2026. Not too much here, but I think that April date was new as well. Like before it was just 2026.
E
I've never played a coffee talk. I've been a barista in my day. Yeah, back in the day I've been a barista. I've slang some coffee before.
D
You want to play this one?
E
Probably really bad for me.
D
Yeah.
E
What, what is this? Has anyone ever played a coffee talk? I have not. Is it me making coffee? Is it doing cool.
C
I'm so familiar with it.
E
Foam designs or is it just we're just chatting the whole time.
D
It's definitely a Greg Miller joint. Like I'm like I'm 99.99% sure that Greg would talk about.
E
I hear nothing but positive stuff when it comes to the story and the emotions. But I don't know what the game is.
D
Yeah, you know, let's see here about this game. Coffee talk is a game about listening to people's problems and helping them by serving up a warm drink out of the ingredients you have in stock.
E
Oh, I'm Fantastic at that.
D
Yeah. So there you go. You have to be barista and help.
E
I'm going to be great at this.
B
Then we had a back to back of Broken Lore. These are first person horror games that I'm unfamiliar with, but they both looked very, very scary. Cool, good and interesting. So we had Broken Lore Unfollow and then Broken Lore Ascend. So Unfollows coming January 16th and Ascend in summer 2026. Unfollow is about the horrors of social media, which is interesting. And then Ascend is about somebody like trying to become YouTube famous by doing like risky climbs and stuff. Both very novel concepts that like. Yeah, like you combine those with the. The look of the game, like they might be cooking here.
C
It kind of feels like what Silent Hill was trying to do with. What was that one with the mo. With the social media one.
E
Yeah, media One.
C
When they. When they were trying to like hit different stories and have their own little beats. I mean, hey, similar to what Kojima's doing with his horror sort of franchise. The one od. Yeah. Oh dear. The Jordan Peele one led. And then, you know, he's going to work on other little episodes that are all kind of insular. They're all kind of like, you know, this isn't a sequel by any means. It's just a completely different story. Fascinating.
B
Yeah. Keep your eyes on this one. Somebody remember to tell me if this is good or not.
D
I'm going to forget about January 16th.
E
In fact, I think me and Roger are going to play on Follow. If I'm going to be honest with you, I'd like to stream that.
D
Yeah, yeah, let us know like 10 days before so we can request codes.
B
And Then Fatal Frame 2 Crimson Butterfly remake coming March 12, 2026. It looks, I think, surprisingly good. Like this is way more effort than I would have ever expected them putting into a Fatal Frame remake. But that excites me. This is a very scary game and it's the first game to ever give me nightmares. Maybe the only game to ever actually give me nightmares. Yeah. And I don't know if I played it today if that would be the case. But yeah, this was terrifying, man. And it was like my. Some of my first exposure to Japanese horror, which is a very different thing. Like, and 2003, this is like, you know, right in the ring and grudge and like all that stuff. So yeah, this one hit Man, I'm staying away.
E
I'll be playing this 100. Oh yeah. We're riding the high office. Silent Hill F you can turn this thing on right now, I'm ready.
B
And then Dynasty Warriors Origins, visions of the four heroes coming January 22nd.
E
Dude, Dynasty wars is so back, Tim. Like, we willed it into existence and now it's back and it's going to be here to stay. It's not going anywhere. More dlc, always exciting. More gameplay, more characters that we all look at and go, who the hell's that? But it's somebody important and it's always going to be someone fun to fight in the game. I'm all about it. This game will be an underrated gem of 2025. I think if people jumped on and played it, they'll tell you, I had a good time. I think a lot of people will just skip this one because it's been such a packed year. But it was nice. I. I really enjoyed Dynasty Warriors Origins this year.
B
Yeah, I think it was blessed said that I'm sure somebody's, like, popping off for this. When the guy caught up, maybe it was Andy, but someone in the chat was like, that's me. Like, I'm the one popping off. So it's, like, cool to think that, like, yeah, like, those people are out there. And they were in our chat. Next up, we had Gran Turismo 7, the power pack. I was a little unclear like this. This obviously was a bit harder of a showcase to kind of like, take all the information in. And The Gran Turismo 7 stuff was hard because it was a lot of subtitles. Then they're talking about stuff that I just don't understand, so. But it seems cool. I love how much they're supporting the game. They're saying that this is the biggest update they've had. They announced that last time, but now there's even more stuff. So cool.
D
Game just looks so good. Every time I see gameplay between Gran Turismo, I want to play it and then I go home and I don't download it.
E
I got a wheel here. I'll set you up, man. We can get you racing anytime you want.
D
Dude, I'm down. Haim has a wheel, too. No, Iam does have a wheel, dude. There was a time where I'm sure I've talked about this before. I try to set it up with my PlayStation VR 2. So I, like. I dragged his big old wheel to my room, set up the PSVR2, and then I hit play on the game. And then the game, the wheel didn't work right. So I immediately veered left as soon as they counted down from three. And I felt it in real life. And so like I almost fell out my chair. Like I veered, like, oh shit. I felt like I got into a real car crash and I took off the VR.
E
Remember when I got my PPL this year?
C
You're what?
E
My ppl?
C
Oh yes.
E
You can sell your soul for a whole week and just play Gran Turismo. It's a good time.
D
It sounds fun. It sounds like a fun time. I thought you said PP out.
E
Just get ready, Tim. Get ready, Tim. One day.
B

D
So my team, my volleyball team, we're tied at number one with one other team.
C
Wow.
E
When will you play them?
D
Oh, that's a really good. Let's see.
E
See now you gotta be looking at the schedule and going, when are we gonna play them?
D
I don't even think we play. I don't see them in this. We don't play them in the tournament,
E
then we'll see them in the big finals.
C
Oh, wait, wait.
D
No, I'm reading it wrong.
C
I'll see you in February. Super Bowl.
D
We play them next week.
E
Oh, wow. Big matchup.
D
I'm out next week. I'm not gonna be at that game.
E
You're the heart and soul.
C
Oh, man. You got a cat? Plants, dude.
E
Oh man.
C
You know when like people in like big sports, whenever they have children, sometimes they're like, nah, man, I can't, I can't be there. Can't abandon the team.
E
Yeah.
C
Can't abandon the team. This child will not remember this. Anyway, before the season started, I made
D
plans to go to a concert for an artist who's like one of my favorite rappers right now, Little Sims. And she's showing up. She's from the uk. She's not gonna.
E
Sims is showing up.
D
You know, you gotta do it. I gotta do it.
C
Mike's favorite game, Little Sims.
B
You love Little Sims. You also love cool little puzzle platformers. Motion rack. Coming spring 2026.
D
Yeah, dude. Something about, something about just this trailer did it for me.
E
You know what I mean?
D
Like just seeing the gameplay, I'm like, this looks like it's gonna be special.
B
I like that they showed it here. It felt.
E
Yeah.
B
Placed in a good way. Like I wouldn't expect to see a game that looks like this these days from a Japan focused showcase.
E
Yeah.
D
You know what I mean, Going into this we wouldn't have expected exactly.
B
But it looks, it looks very cool.
C
There's, there's something so fascinating about devs choosing to be like to play really either fast and loose or to get really creative with color schemes. The fact that this game is just white little pixels on a black screen and every once in a while there's some splash of colors here and there and I feel like if this game were full on color, I'd be less interested in it. Like there's this art design there's something about just like how striking the art style is that like I feel like if they would have fully rendered out this game with all sorts of that, I'd be like, yeah, it looks kind of whatever. But I'm way more into it. The fact that it looks the way it does with just here are these color blocks in a black and white world.
E
Oh, look, you're recording what you do and then you're playing it. That's it.
D
Now I'm learning in real time.
E
That's cool.
D
This game came out October 27th on Steam.
B
Oh wow.
D
So it must be upcoming on PlayStation and so you can play it. I could. I could play it right now.
E
Yeah.
D
It's so for those listening. Right. Motion Wreck is recording based puzzle action game built around the concept of recording and playback. Use the ability to. Got to guide Wreck. Is Wreck the name of the character to guide Wreck? This the civilization recording robot through a devastated world. I'm all, I love this type of shit, dude.
C
I'm busy with Metroid prime remastered. I got that Double jump, Tim Whoever like double jump. So many high clips. I can get to the top of the shelves.
B
Going back. Think about all the places you can go.
C
My mom put the hot Cheetos up there on top. I gotta get it.
B
Next up we had Wandering Sword. This takes place in ancient China. It's coming 5-28-26. I am interested as. As well as you guys are. Didn't say that right. But you know what I'm saying. Where it's like this isn't made by square, but it very much looks like it's made by square.
D
Yeah.
C
You know this is kind of developer, I believe, right? Chinese developer.
B
Pretty sure makes sense. Yeah.
C
Yeah. This is one that looks like a lot of the other project. Octopath Traveler Games. 2.5 D HD 2D. HD 2D. Right.
B
Tilt shifts with pixel art. But like with, you know, kind of just a lot focus on feel, lighting and depth of field.
C
Yeah, I mean it's very, very pretty.
D
So this, the studio is the Swordman studio which is headquartered in Shanghai, China. You nailed it.
C
Also already out on Steam if you want to check it out.
B
Interesting.
C
Came out two years ago. Oh, we went to go watch a movie last night. Tim went to go watch the Running Man.
B
Can't say much about it.
C
I know. But I saw a movie poster for the Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Anaconda. And that's all it took for me to have nightmares about snakes. I was at my aunt's house. Snakes all over the yard.
E
No way. Really?
C
In the dreams? Yeah.
B
Oh, I thought like, every spree view as a kid.
C
No, no, just in the dream, kind of like just walk to the front door. Oh, my God. There's snakes all over the place. Oh, and also the bloodborne. The bloodborne bundles of snakes were there.
D
Oh, I hate that. Yeah, I see. That would get me. Yeah.
C
Balls of snakes all from.
D
From a movie poster. Yeah.
B
Then we had AI the somoniminium Files. This is the one that completely broke my.
D
You said that the way British people say looming.
E
This is when. This is the moment.
D
Can someone please tell me what this game is, please?
E
Every game just kind of flashed in front of me so quickly, and I got so lost. Yeah. It was giving Digimon vibes. That's why. And so I just didn't understand what was going on.
C
Yeah, it's. I don't really know much about this franchise, but I know the homie Jace Baldrige is always, like, tooting its horn, but it seems just like. It seems like a weird one that I don't. I don't know if I'd want to see how deep it could go, you know? Like, I don't want to get on the dark Web.
D
Yeah, no, I know exactly what you're talking about. You know what I mean? It's like, put on a list. Yeah, what's that one?
C
Game Fucking Romper.
D
Yes. Yeah, exactly.
C
Yes.
D
It's like Danganronpa. You see it on the store. You're like, oh, that seems like a perfectly normal game. And then, like, you start to, like, look around the community that plays it, and you're like, what's going on over here?
C
Yeah, I. You know, I'm not. Never mind.
B
Then we saw Tokyo Extreme racer come in February 26. 26. Looks awesome. Now we know what this is. Yeah, it is what it is. Very cool. Catamari dlc. Hell, yeah.
C
Oh, right.
E
Roll up.
D
Is this a new katamari game that came out, or is this, like a remake of an old katamari game that came out? Okay.
C
I mean, well, luckily it wasn't the last bandai Namco title. Like, we saw this, and I was like, oh, Night Rain.
B
Nope, nope.
C
Very, very different.
B
Pac Man World Repack. Got a Sonic DLC available today. Your Pac man in Sonic's world Rolling
C
around plus was very confused about this question.
D
I look at the. You can't show this to me. Because I look at this and I'm like, oh, what Sonic game is this? I want to play this. And then they tell me, It's Pac Man. I'm like, well, what the are we doing then? I ain't playing a Pac man game. Also, Chad, do we have any report
C
on if Bless can just jump into this dlc or does he have to play the entirety of the other.
D
Yeah, do I have to play the entire Pac man game to play this dlc or can I just play the deal? Because he really just wants Sonic, though.
E
Yeah, he looks really cute.
D
And I'm not talking shit about Pac Man. I just don't want to play, like, the 3D Pac man games, you know?
B
This is good though, then.
D
Like, why weren't more kids in. In middle school talking about it?
E
I was playing Glover.
B
It's way better than Glover.
C
What about Blasto?
D
What about Rocket Robot on Wheels?
B
Way better than all of those games, if I'm being honest. It's a 7.5.
D
Wait, what are you trying to say about Rocket Robot on wheels?
B
It's a 6.5.
D
You know what?
C
Fair. 7.5. That's. I mean, that's kind of close to Metroid Dread. I fucking hate you.
B
Oh, my God, the thoughts I just had Digimon time, strangers. Did some DLC put the snakes in your house. We saw Omnimon with. With in black. That's kind of cool, but I don't understand the context, and I never will ignost your Rojas. I'm sorry. Yeah, this is the first DLC coming.
C
Mike, you going into this?
E
I had to put the mons. Down, Unfortunately, I had to put down both my Mons. Pokemon and Digimon. If I was to return to one of them, it would be Digimon, though. But I don't know if I will. So unfortunately, I don't think I'll be getting to this one.
D
What are the chances this gets nominated for Best RPG at the Game Awards?
B
Hi.
C
Damn, pretty high.
B
But I also think RPG means a lot of things. So we do have outer worlds. We do have Kingdom Come Deliverance. Like, there are things I think could kind of maybe edge this one out.
D
I'm gonna give it a 25 chance.
B
Yeah.
C
Yeah.
D
I think there's just too many. Too many good RPGs.
B
Yeah.
D
Clear up skier.
B
Oh, yeah, you're right. Jesus. Super Robot Wars Y has Kamen Rider. I think that's the news.
C
And Big O.
D
Big O.
B
Big O. Yeah.
C
Oscar Robinson. Okay. Big oh.
B
Monster Hunter Wilds is getting Free Title Update 4 on November 16th. So five days from now.
C
Here's the thing about Big O. Always hated the art style.
E
About the Big O. Oh, no, not The Big O.
C
The Big O is Oscar Robertson.
E
Yeah, but like some could say, what now? It's Russell Westbrook.
B
It's an organism.
E
Stole the Triple W. That's what I thought.
B
It's a no.
E
That.
C
Oh, I see.
E
That's your oath. And also Joker could be Big O
C
is the little Death. But here's the problem with the Big O More. The Big O was always like the show I had to struggle through in order to watch Outlaw Star. And Outlaw Star was really like the really cool Toonami show. Big O is just kind of lame.
D
I'm glad you picked up what I was putting down.
C
We're doing four different shows.
B
I never in my life thought I'd stay lepatit More out of my mouth.
D
It's a beautiful way to put it though. The French are cooking when they talk about the little petite.
C
More.
D
The French are cooking with that one.
C
Le what?
B
The Little Death.
C
The Little Death.
B
What they call orgasms.
C
Yeah.
D
What really romantic.
B
Never grave. Oh no. Sonic racing. Cross worlds. Spongebob coming November 20, 2025 never grave. The Witch and the Curse coming March 5, 2026.
C
Oh, this is the Hollow Knight.
B
Like.
C
Nah, it was disconcerting. No, it was a incongruous. Incongruous.
B
Yeah, yeah.
C
No thank you.
B
No, thank you. Entropy Effect X coming is a blaze blue one. Is the blaze blue One is coming February 12, 2026. Looks sick as.
C
I still don't know if this is like a whole new standalone. Oh yeah, that's right. That's what this game was. Producers, they're growing, they are expanding faster than we could have imagined. I still don't know. Tim, do you have like a press release? I don't know if this is like just DLC or if it's like a. The Definitive Edition or something. But this game looks so rad visually and a lot of cool special effects and awesome particles and all sorts of cool slashes. But it's a very neat looking, pretty side scrolling Metroidvania.
D
See, I feel like the Internet doesn't know either because fucking game Informer calls it. They call it a new rendition of Blazblue Entropy Effect. What does that mean?
B
It's roguelike Rendition Venture.
C
Is it like Persona 5 Royal? Yeah, that's why I'm technically like, it's different.
D
Maybe.
C
Yeah.
B
Remix of Roguelite gameplay infused with the DNA of blast blue.
D
Well, no, that's explaining the first.
C
That's the whole like entropy effect. Yeah.
D
But like. So the game originally came out, it's just blaze blue entry Entropy effect. And now this is Entropy Effect. X. So we're trying to figure out what the X is. The X is extra video game.
C
Yeah. Xfinity. It looks awesome though. God damn. Art style is fantastic.
B
Yeah. Then next up we had.
C
Tim just gave up.
B
What else do I have to say about it? It looks fucking cool. You.
D
I didn't want to try it.
C
Give up on the research.
B
I just read a whole goddamn PS blog and they. They don't know what they're. They just keep saying sea of possibility. They say se of possibility.
D
Nobody knows what this game is.
B
We have Damon and the dog, right?
D
No.
B
Dam.
D
Wow. I can't tell.
E
David and baby.
D
I can't tell if you like think lowly of babies or highly of dogs.
B
David and baby. This one's crazy. There's like a lot of game in this. It looks like 10 genres in one.
E
Yeah.
B
It's like one second it's kind of Mario 64, then all of a sudden it's near Automata and you're like, I guess.
D
Yeah. I can't wait for it. I don't even know why I can't wait for it. Yeah, it just looks fun.
C
I. I think the. In certain sequences, the art style looks so like, pretty to look at. And other ones, I'm like, I don't like that game. But I like the game in the last level. Yeah, I think it's got a really cool kind of to it though.
D
Doesn't seem like the kind of game where you should be buying real looking guns. You know, like in the menus we were just in. He's buying fucking shotguns.
C
Yeah, that's a Tommy gun.
D
Yeah.
C
From the Mask.
D
That's a gun for Call of Duty.
B
Another one we had. This is one I had struggled to write down, but it's from the creators of Disgaea. It's Kyoro Ran something or other. I don't know. And then we had Fate Trigger after that.
C
Oh, this was when we were seeing these games. This is where I was like, huh? You're showing me the logo of the game, but you're not saying like the word. So I'm having trouble kind of figuring out what the word is. And the next trailer had two subtitles on it. That's what was going on. Yeah. Fate Trigger. Is that what looked like Fortnite anime, third person sort, you know, base building shooting game, which I thought was. Oh yeah, those things. Damn it. About to break the tv. But the third person shooter is one that I could have sworn that Mike, when you're setting up like Twitch Streams and stuff.
E
Yeah.
C
It was all. I could have sworn there was like
E
I saw Tim the Tap man play.
C
There was an anime third person shooter that was always a twitch bounty 100 that was kind of like Valorant ish or whatever. And I thought this was it. But I think this is a totally different game. But either way it looks so generic and not.
D
I. I hate how many games we're getting that like everything. I feel like a lot of games are starting to look the same. Like a lot of games are starting to like, I think try to be everything all at once. I want to be a Fortnite in an anime and like XYZ thing now. Now we get like multiple games game trailers a year that are different games. But I look at them and I'm like, is this not just this other thing?
B
We had Octopath Traveler 0 demo today. The save data can continue on the game. Comes out on December 4th. Looks freaking awesome. I love that Square continues to put out these demos that the save file carries over. That's amazing.
E
Yeah, that's the big shout out right there. Yep.
B
Then we had Marvel Token. We already talked about that in Elden Ring and then we ended with the whole PlayStation 5 reminder situation. PS5 Digital Edition is on sale in Japan only. It looks to be about 360American dollars. But obviously that's different for them.
C
Thank you to the person in Twitch. Ad says Strenova was the game I was thinking of. Thank you.
B
And there was a lot here and I got a little lost. But they reminded us about the Pulse elevate speakers. But then they also talked about a PlayStation monitor. Have we heard about that before?
E
I thought we have that.
C
Yeah.
E
Yeah. I thought we had.
C
Well, I. It's not a tv.
D
Yeah.
C
I thought it was just like the Sony branded thing that is PlayStation.
E
I thought we saw the monitor and the speakers together during.
C
Did we introducing a new gaming monitor?
E
Oh yeah.
C
This is a new. This is new because this isn't the
E
Sony Zero time on it.
C
Then it's not the Sony gaming brand which was in.
B
In Zone.
C
In Zone. Yeah.
B
Yeah. I like this little like controller holder thing. Kind of sick.
C
Yeah, that is kind of neat.
E
It's a charger.
C
It's cute.
B
Interesting. Interesting.
D
All right.
C
Interesting, interesting.
B
Kebabs writes in and says love the show's personality. Keep this man. I agree. Coba says Kiefer coming back in the party in Dragon Quest 7 is a pretty big deal. I'm very happy for you. Unironically Kiefer Yeah, that's his name.
D
I hate that he's called Kiefer. Also, like shout out to Kiefer's. I don't.
E
I like the name.
D
Who's the guy? Topher. It's like another Topher.
B
You know what I mean?
D
Like, you know, the Topher TikTok.
C
But Topher is short for Christopher. What's Keefer short for? No, Christopher.
D
Kiefer.
C
I don't know. Yeah.
E
Really? I never knew that. Oh, my God.
B
I didn't know that either.
D
Wait, really? Really?
B
So Topher Grace is Christopher?
D
You would think so.
C
Yeah, I would think so. But I know a lot of Christophers that are called Topher. I don't know.
D
Crazy. That's nuts. To look at Christopher and be like, I'm going with the top.
C
His full name is
B
Chris is right there.
D
Chris is right there. You got to stand out, you know,
C
you got to have a good like, stand out. I'm gonna call you.
D
You're not gonna stand out calling yourself Chris Grace.
C
You know, toe for Grace is Jonathan.
D
Is Nathan short for Jonathan.
B
Now I'm just Nathaniel.
D
Oh, you're right. Okay.
C
There used to be a pitcher named Joe. Nathan. You're like like first name Joe. Last name.
D
Oh, okay. That makes sense.
C
Yeah.
B
That is one thing. Donation.
D
Yeah, I thought it was one way. I thought it was one name.
B
Holy crap. We are falling apart here. Everybody. Thank you so much for hanging out with us all day long for this fun filled day of street here at Kind of funny. We'll be back tomorrow. Remember, it's Mario Galaxy trailer day, everybody.
D
Let's go.
B
So Games Daily will be bless and I breaking down the entire trailer. Everything that we we think about it. But also our reaction to the Super Mario Galaxy movie trailer will not be live because then we'll get claimed. So we're going to record it separately and it will be posted as a vod. I'll explain this all again tomorrow. If you're watching Games Daily, just Show up at 10am Twitch, YouTube, you know what to do. Love you all. Goodbye.

“A lot here and I got a little lost, but they reminded us about the Pulse elevate speakers. But then they also talked about a PlayStation monitor. Have we heard about that before?” — Tim (49:50)
The team had a good time with the State of Play Japan, appreciating its targeted approach and clear messaging for its region. PlayStation’s embrace of a charismatic host, the showcase of varied titles (from the colossal Elden Ring and Marvel announcements to indie darlings like Motion Wreck), and the hardware push for Japanese PS4 users mark this event as a distinct chapter in Sony’s marketing. Not everything resonated with the US-based panel, but they praise the show’s personality and pace, hoping it becomes a regular fixture for unique, local flavor in PlayStation’s global messaging.
