I'm one of your hosts, Greg Miller. Alongside Christmas in March. Joey Noel. Hello.
B
It's here.
A
It's finally.
B
You can experience this game along with us.
A
I love that so many of you have been jumping into Procopia. My feeds are filled with people in there. You've started convincing your friends to buy switches and play it. Lots of money's being wasted and we love this.
B
I'm so sorry.
A
I'm still trying to talk myself out of going to the Nintendo store today.
B
Why?
A
Because I should play more video games at my desk. I'll have to leave even earlier to go to the Nintendo store. But they got the Dittos. They got the Dittos.
B
Oh. Cause all the ones that are different.
A
Pokemon go get a squirtle. Ditto.
B
The Alolan Vulpix one is so cute.
A
Sure. Of course. Pokemon Pocopia is out today. You can catch our review over on the kind of funny games cast from Monday. But the streaming embargo is up because it's out and everybody can play it and do it. So Joey and I thought we would jump into our games maybe after the ad break. Jump into Joey, see how we're vibing, go from there. No promises, but before I even go, we have to make a lot of things clear. All right. A lot of so like 35 plus hours played of this game for me. I love this game. As I was talking about on Games Daily today with Mikey, I have to settle in that Pocopia is a marathon and not a sprint.
B
Yeah.
A
You are in the first biome with me. We're gonna do spoiler free. Obviously I can't control if somebody says something but like spoiler free. My island. This first area still looks like trash. It's messed up. It's still totally screwed up. I'll walk you through what's going on on it. But I don't want to be judged for having a messy area.
B
Okay.
A
Okay. Is this Christine?
B
No. My opening area is so disastrous. Nobody has a house.
A
Okay.
B
No house.
A
Okay. Okay.
B
Just beds everywhere.
A
So right now you are just. We are just buried, burrowed into a wall over here. Well, first off, hey. Sup? This is my ditto. Named him Ben because we started it with Benny. Of course, every Ben character eventually kind of starts to look like me.
B
And.
A
And so when I found. Hey. That I had a nerdy outfit I was able to locate, I was like, well, clearly I start rocking that. I do have several other ones, of course. As you play this game and you go and start unlocking different areas and different. They're collectible based. You find notes and you get different outfits based on that. So I've collected quite a few. But I do try to stay in the nerdy outfit. Cause I feel like it's the most me, if you will. I got this chair that kind of looks like a mizzou tiger's chair.
B
I was wondering, I was like, did
A
you see how it is decorated or find it like that, how it is?
B
I can't feel like it needs to be in your house. Notice you don't have a bed.
A
No, why would I? This falls into the Animal Crossing thing. You know, in Animal Crossing I made it very normal. And then I saw people doing exciting things and I was like, huh. And they used to give me shit because I had a bathroom. Like, why did you build a bathroom?
B
I don't know.
A
It's a house. I'm like, so why are there so
B
many bathroom things in the game if you don't want me to make a bathroom?
A
So Animal Cross. Sorry For Pocopia. Right. Like you gotta make the Pokemon happy. And you have to put the Pokemon places to make them happy.
B
So.
A
So yeah, I just drilled into this wall at one point.
B
That's so interesting.
A
And I was like, let's just make a big space that I can. You have to put down three pieces of furniture for a Pokemon to come live in the house you build. So I did that. If you're thinking houses, like to build them, all you need is this foundation level around the floor and a door. So you do this little bit and slam a door on it. They count that as a house. Doesn't even need a ceiling. You'll see in maybe some of my other places. I just have the foundations in that so that I could.
B
Kept telling me that, but I was like, I could not like wrap my head around.
A
Wrap what I was talking about.
B
Yeah.
A
So then you do that. You throw down three pieces of furniture. You can put them in there and they're happy enough to live there. And then you can start doing their own things.
B
Which is nice when you're like resource light at the beginning.
A
Of course yeah, yeah. But this is the first section of the game for Pokemon Pocopia. We come.
B
So interesting to see where everybody else, like, is building and doing.
A
Yeah, so. Because the maps are the same, so exactly. Yeah. Every starts with the same biomes. Right. And then we tear it apart. When you start up Pocopia, you will start off in this cave where you meet Professor Taylor Handgrowth over there that we just saw waving at us. His stuff's over here. He gives you a little rundown of like, I don't know what's going on, but nobody's here. What do we do? And then you come out and start your journey into this world. And again, as Joey's saying, off to the races on what you kind of want to do with it from there. So you can see what I have done. I do have my first gigantic house here ready to go. So I'm pretty stoked.
B
Ooh, you saved it for us.
A
I did save that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, of course timber's here, you know. There you go. Dinner. The Leafs house, all done. You got to check it out. It's super awesome. Here comes the big reveal. Drum roll, please. Not me neither.
B
Oh, this is cute.
A
Yeah, I'll put some stairs in front of it. Obviously before this, on this wood platform, I had a very similar. I just tossed in a foundation and we're able to go. But now I have this beautiful house that again, I'll have to put some stuff inside of so that I can tell. Hey, Pokemon, why don't you come live here and be happy? But you see.
B
Ooh, this is like a multi room kind of thing.
A
Right? Like they.
B
Ooh. And upstairs, I haven't built one of these yet.
A
And that's the thing. What I was. I don't know how many people I can put in this house, but I'm pretty sure I can put a lot.
B
Yeah.
A
Which is nice. And then it gets.
B
How many do you have in yours?
A
Wasn't it four or five? I think it's four or five over there. Right. So, yeah. But I'll talk. Let's see. I don't know if I plan. I got a bed. Well, you make fun of me, but again, I'm just tossing the bed down. Make these Pokemon happy. All right. I have a chair with me. Got some stuff. Got a table. Okay. I think I'll be okay over here. Toss down the plain chest, douchebag. There we go.
B
Yeah.
A
Once you get the little, little jingle jangle there, you're like, okay, cool, I can do this. Then we can Pull out and see who we got. I went upstairs. Nice to have two levels.
B
I know.
A
Very, very peculiar. Very interesting even. I'm sure you know the people who are gonna create, create, create out there. The psychos, the people I'll be like watching and Instagram favorite.
B
I know the people that use those, like side walls.
A
Yep, yep, yep.
B
Within the rooms. I'm always just so impressed.
A
I only put four people in this house. Oh, so, yeah, like, that's so interesting.
B
Charizard.
A
I knew that. Sorry. Number one Pokemon fan, Ben's been running today. We've been doing a lot of playset stuff where Ben is playing pickopia with Legos.
B
Oh, fine.
A
So Charmander is there today. Jen built Charmander a volcano to live in, so.
B
Oh, that's so cool.
A
I got Charmander on the mind. Got my boy Squirtle over there.
B
Is he into this or is it like a little too slow? It's not really a ton of engaging gameplay, I guess.
A
My son is amazing and for even being a four year old, understands concepts bigger such as what an embargo is and that daddy needs to play this game without him. So it was like we had a good couple nights there with it. Like Friday was the first day with it, right? And it was like, perfect. Here, come play this. And we did it. And then it was like, I think we played a bit on Saturday. Or maybe it was like he woke up Saturday and I'd already moved on. And I was like, listen, like, it's a. I gotta review this, I gotta keep moving. And he was like, oh, okay. And so he hasn't been, Let me see it, let me do it, let me. Blah, blah, blah. And also the fact that, you know, during the week video games are usually a treat. So it's like he hasn't had that much. He hasn't actually played that many games at home to really be like, oh, wait, why am I not playing Procopia? So we'll see now that the gloves are off if he wants to be in it more or if he's just like, oh, cool, out of sight, gone. Yeah, yeah.
B
Because I guess it wouldn't be. It's doing chores. So I don't know if that's like a fun thing.
A
I mean, this is the fun thing, right? Of getting, of running around. Let's go get them. Let's put down the habitats and get Pokemon to appear. He was obviously super stoked that Eevee was going to come. You know, that Eevee would eventually show up and how to get her to go do that. Yes. You have to be smelting. I'm gonna grab all this out of there.
B
You have the big smelter.
A
Ah, yeah. Well, come on now.
B
Have you decided that this is, like, your main hub for building and storing things or what?
A
Yes, but it won't be permanent, I don't think. Maybe it will be. I'm eventually gonna build something for all of this. Okay. I feel like, you know, there's such a utilitarian part of Pocopia where you start, and it is about unlocking the next thing and doing the next thing. You know what I mean?
B
So.
A
So it's about shoving them and getting the Pokemon Centers up and running. So Pokemon center has to be here, correct?
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. I just wanna make sure. Yeah, that was already here. And obviously, when you get to the other levels, they're gonna be there, too. Poke Mart. I was able to put where I wanted and everything else, but it was like, all right, well, if I'm right here and I'm doing it, I'm gonna build this here. But, yeah, now I've kind of settled on. This is where I built all my initial Pokemon habitats. And so you still see lots of people are here.
B
Lots of.
A
I made these little leaf huts just to shove people in. So now it really is that idea of, like, okay, if we're going to make this into a town, and I'm going to make more houses like this, more cot. This is going to be the vibe for this place. Cottages. Right. Then it really does come down to, all right, let's get everybody out of these things over there to where they need to be, Bulldoze all of this, maybe have some flowers, fix all the
B
pathways and stuff like that.
A
Exactly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But it's like, this is what I'm talking about, you know, today on Games Daily of the Marathon bit, where it's like, okay, I love this game. And I have now beaten it in quotes, you know, in credits of roll. We reviewed it. I have to move on to other reviews, even though I just want to sit here and pour time and time and time into it. So my thought really is going to be that I'm going to now take it biome by biome and just sit. So it'll be like everlasting gobstopper here of let's get section number one to where I'm like, you know what? I'm happy with that. And then move on to the next thing. But again with them, like, you know, next week dropping the first activity of Pre exclusive Pokemon. I wonder how active it's going to be to get me back in and get me off where I normally am. So it's not just in Biome one, right? Because if you were to click, I mean, minor spoilers for names, I guess, but it's out there already, right? Like you have all your homes that you can then jump to, right? So the four biomes they give you in the game and then your area, that is your playground, which of course I need to. So yeah, there's a lot going on and I need to slow play it. And that's just not who I am, you know, that I'm the binge player. So it's like, I really think step number one is going to be, let's get all the Pokemon into homes, let's get homes built and let's figure that out what that's gonna look like. Cause again, I like the idea of coming in over here we have the ocean, right? The wide open ocean of like, okay,
B
wide open spaces, room.
A
Make big mistakes where you can kind of come in and the town comes here and you come up here and it just opens up into Pokemon Center. I probably even like that. You know, I want this to be dead on straight, kind of like Washington Monument, like the mall kind of thing. So I would imagine that I'm gonna go here and just go straight through and smash out to the water on that side. But again, I'm talking about a lot of time, a lot of effort, a lot of it's like, I don't need to do it all right now. I don't need to do it all right now.
B
Jo, I know you could.
A
I could, I could ignore everything and do this all right now.
B
There's so much space too, because there's like the other two sides and back.
A
Or do you want everybody, Ladies, gentlemen and nb. Yeah, like, so one of the things I've talked about about this game is how many games in one I think it is, but then also how large it is. So again, as I just showed you, right, we're in Withered wasteland. You see the map over there on the left when you look over here again, now there's four versions, all different, different biomes, right? But even that said, like, come with me, all right, Just go with me on a walk.
B
We're going on a tour.
A
This is again where we set up base camp. We had a great time or whatever. Then, you know, I did my Minecraft Y ways and smashed through this wall over here. And then you just open up and it's like another even better town where it's like, oh, shit. And they already had the thing up here, so I can get electricity going, like. And it's like, oh, no. You know what I mean? Like, I. Oh, no. Like, this is what I thought was the. It's kind of like a Futurama when Fry stays in Bender's apartment and then Bender opens the closet, but it turns out that's the real apartment.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
So it's like, oh, no. Where it's like, I have all this stuff over here to play with on this side. Or, you know, you jump over there, I think. I don't know if I'm so unfamiliar with this side even. Right. Because I'm on the other side. I'm going to fix this water.
B
Oh, yeah, you gotta do this.
A
Well, I did it, but I don't know what it's. Then we got, you know, you're mining into this section over here.
B
Oh, I haven't knocked down that gate yet.
A
Oh, yeah, I could do it.
B
They didn't have the right.
A
I don't have the food. I guess it'd be right there.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, this cuts over here and you go. But, like, this is the thing where it's like. I feel like there's. There is so much of this game that is unexplored. And it's so crazy to think about the hundreds of hours of content that are here. We talked about Jordan. Talked to Jordan on the review of, like, it was 130 hours. 120 hours. He put up his thing today. It's 130 hours. Like, it's crazy to look at that number and realize, again, you're gonna have so much more if you like this stuff and you wanna commit to this stuff. Like, I think there's so much more here than Animal Crossing. And that's not me knocking Animal Crossing. I love Animal Crossing. But when we're sitting here talking about, like, what you're really about to get into, like, even this again, I've played so many. I missed this. I didn't do any of this. I didn't come through here. Right.
B
That's crazy.
A
The story in this thing. So good. So good.
B
I haven't finished it yet.
A
I told you already. I cried. Yeah, yeah. You were here for it. Jesus Christ. The ending of it. So amazing. So now I texted Jen yesterday or slacked or whatever, and I was like, I'm crying at the end of Pokemon Pokopi. She's like, oh, my God, what happened? And I wrote like, listen, I don't want. I. Can I give you the. I'll tell you when we're together tonight. Because I won't do it justice. Made her cry. Telling her, oh, my gosh. You know what I mean? Granted, we're big softies or whatever, but, like, this game is so fucking cool and so fucking special and there's so much to do. Go get him. Ditto.
B
Yeah, I need to go back and read a lot of these things. Cause oftentimes I'm like, on a mission and I see one, and I'm just like, get out of here. I think it's so interesting, too, because so much of this world also reminds me of Donkey Kong Bonanza in terms of, like, you can just endlessly pound and get through.
A
Oh, sure, sure, sure, sure.
B
There's no real limit. I mean, there are limits, but not really in terms of, like, what you can't go through.
A
Yeah.
B
To, like, tunnel through everything. Which was like, the thing that got me stuck on Bonanza of, like, when you. What do you mean? There's endless gold and I. Yeah.
A
This is right. Right.
B
This is gonna break my brain for me.
A
Yeah. Yeah. The ability of what this game is and how it works. Powered up cut. Right. That doesn't transfer. Again, have to be punch so much stuff. I've done it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then powers up leafage. It's just one of those. My casually carrying the food I need.
B
Yeah.
A
Again, I wish I could carry more stuff. You can carry a lot, but I wish I had access to everything. There's a few different things that, like, not quality of life. Cause I think it's all good in the hood, but like, just little stuff like that. That I would love to know.
B
Yeah. I would love if all the boxes were connected.
A
Yeah. That's my biggest one, I think. Cause it's just annoying of like, okay, where did I leave? And again, back to what I'm talking about with. All right, cool. I'm gonna commit to this area. That means I'm gonna go to all those other ones and bring everything to me of like, okay, cool. Let's get this set up the way I want it to be. Where it's actually just focused on this world.
B
Yeah. That's what I'm doing right now. But I have my home base set up in another, not this world.
A
So did you keep one home base or did you move all over the place?
B
I had home bases everywhere. And then it was driving me nuts that I couldn't figure out where anything was. It was like, I know that I have a pencil cup somewhere. And where did I put the step stool? And so I went through and moved a bunch of my stuff yesterday just because I couldn't take it anymore.
A
I can't take it anymore.
B
Yeah. There was one thing where I was trying to get my habitats all done, and I was like, I can't find it. You were like, do the. Oh, I want you to show me the printer thing. Because I couldn't figure it out.
A
Oh, sure. Let me do this real quick.
B
Yeah. And so then I was like, forget it. I'm done. I'm bringing all my stuff together. Had enough? Yep. Not doing this again. But, yeah, it's been very fun.
A
In a waterfall here. One of the powers you will unlock.
B
Perfect.
A
Now I got the water going back over. Oh, I got it.
B
Oh, you gotta get out.
A
It's one of those. You know, I thought this was fixed a long time ago.
B
All the little things where you're like, I would assume that this is how it's set up. Really? It's not.
A
Oh, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right, right. So I actually just did this myself. Right. Because I need the water up. I'm trying to break it down. That's not.
B
Oh, you need to bring the.
A
Yep. Bring the water up. All the way around.
B
Down.
A
I was going to say I always have sand. Again, something I meant to call it in the review that I don't think. I actually think for as big as it is, being able to stack 99 or whatever is so nice in terms of like, oh, cool. Okay. You can put this all where you need it to be.
B
Yeah. I feel like even though I was upgrading my stuff, like my backpack and stuff pretty often, I was surprised at how often I didn't have to deal with.
A
Yeah.
B
Loading and loading.
A
Yeah, totally, totally.
B
But because they all. Yeah. Having four pages of inventory is also very generous at, like, the max upgrade level. Why does this hate you?
A
No, I mean, it's doing it right.
B
What is your. So is your next plane of attack to, like, get your town set up? Are you trying to. And that. Because I feel like mine is. I want to get all of the habitat set up.
A
Yeah.
B
That's my plan of attack, personally.
A
My town is my setup. Yeah. Like, I. But that's the thing is I. I know how this is going to go, is that I'm going to get distracted. And that's what's been the best part and worst part of reviewing it. Right. Is just like, what about this little shiny thing there? What about that? Just getting pulled from one direction to the other to the other to the other, where it's like, I really do want to fill out the Pokedex. I really do want to build out that town. So inevitably, I know I'm going to come over here and then get into, all right, where am I putting all these Pokemon? I should be working again. When you throw open your Pokedex itself and look into your habitats, right? It shows you what. What habitats you found. And then, yeah, if you've registered a Pokemon off of it.
B
So you see, I love that the green circles tell you if they're done right off.
A
The green one tells you you're done. And then you click on this one, right? And it's like, okay, I still need to go over there and get that one grayed out guy that nobody can tell you who he is. Same thing here, right? Where it's like, okay, you got to go build these and make that so it's clear that I could go do so much more work with it and get out there and then really fill out, of course, the overall Pokedex here.
B
It's crazy. Oh, you have so many more than I do.
A
Yeah, well, I think it's. Cause, you know, I'm so. I'm like a little psychotic about when I see the. Oh, I should run over there and go, yeah. Ooh, hold on. Yeah, and then there's a mystery gift out. I forgot how to do mystery gifts. You go in here, right into this. Where's the one we did for the online thing when we were trying that out?
B
No, no, I think you have to
A
go to the poker center. You're right. We'll do that. And I'll show you the thing. There's a ditto mat back mat or format or whatever to go get they were talking about today in the article. So anyways, yeah, my idea is to really, really double down on making this look nice. And I say just this section. Really focus on this, and then probably go to that other section. Unless I figure out, like, okay, cool. That section's already got cool shit going on, which I love. So it's like, okay, cool. Now I need to figure out, where am I putting this? Where is my actual workspace? How do I want to hide all that stuff?
B
Yeah,
A
I wonder, too. I don't think I ever turned my review server off. That's going to be a problem for me. And we won't go into how to do that on camera. That would. That would get me in trouble, I'm sure.
B
Can you not just check mystery gifts
A
with that I think. But I think it's pinging the review kind of servers or whatever, right? Yeah, yeah. So I gotta go do that. But if you are playing everybody mystery gift, go there and get it how you want it. Okay, let's show you inside the Pokecenter. Eventually, when you open the Pokemon center here, you have a whole bunch of different things. First off, new items every day from whoever's here. You have to have somebody who can work the cash register. You come in here, you might say, well, what do you trade for currency and all this stuff? I think it's very cute.
B
I like it too.
A
You don't have currency in the game. Instead you just trade items. So you come in here and you need 2,000 points, basically. So you come in and go, okay, well, what could I trade you for points? And you see that one of my barrels here is 300 piece of twine's 10. What I usually use is honey. Oh, 100 a pop. And I don't know about you, but I'm swimming in honey. You build all the habitats. You get so much honey. You can take honey to Vespiquen, right, And trade her three jars of honey per item she has every day. She has exclusive items. You get there or whatever, but you can only do that certain amount for a day. So there'd be so many days. I had like 40 jars of honey in there or whatever here.
B
They just get put in a box over here.
A
Of course, you can come here and heal your Pokemon like you would with Nurse Joy. Of course, you are a Pokemon. So you rest and fill in all the bars you're using for cut, for punch, for smash or whatever. Because if you notice, yeah, your PP is refilled, peep, beep. But you see that bar above rock smash down there in the lower right. But one of the things I think is cool is this. So you have this 3D printer here, right? In games like Animal Crossing, you might go visit somebody's island or see something and think that's really cool. And then you have to wait for the store to have that item. With this one, you can go in here and take photos of things you liked. For instance, I like this stained glass window. So I took a photo of that, right? You come in now with the photo you've taken. And when you're using your camera, it tells you what your stained glass window upper. It shows you what you're doing.
B
Oh, got it, got it, got it.
A
So then you take it. Then you come over here and you use poke metal. You go, okay, 3D printer, print me one off of this. Says, oh, yes, and gives you the item. That is fucking awesome.
B
That's incredible.
A
If you want to talk about, like, really a. Hey, what are we doing here? To be different than a million of the other animal crossing, cozy game, Sims, whatever. Like, that's such a nice way now, you know, poke metal, there might sound like a, you know, a hefty price. It's not. You're swimming in it.
B
Where do you get it?
A
The mines. The mines have it.
B
Yeah.
A
Why can I not remember the poke metal? They have gold, they have silver, they have the mysterious blocks that I don't even know what you. Oh, the sparkly blocks. Yeah.
B
Those are so fun. That's the house that I want to live in. I want to build it out of the sparkly block.
A
I'd seen it earlier. I think a lot of chats are coming through. We're not having a chance. Please keep asking the same questions. If I don't get to it, people are asking about, like, what's. Is there a post game? The post game is the game and it's continuing to make habitats for Pokemon and fix up your towns because you're
B
not catching everybody and building all the habitats before.
A
Yeah. Unless you're crazy. Yeah, you could do that. I don't know what Jordan Miller did that cycle, but, yeah, you can go and do that. That's the post game. But as I said on KFG today, no spoilers. I think they set up the post game so well. It's not changing, but they give you context for why you'd still do it. I was like, oh, that's very nice. I like that. I like that. Of course, we're talking about what you're doing in this game. You build the habitats to get the Pokemon to pop out, to be there to then have, you know, various different reasons to be here. We've talked about it before. We should do one. You know, Drifloon will take me to the dream island that I can go plunder for resources. When you are doing stuff you want, like, obviously fire Pokemon, right. Like our friend Charmander. Because of course, you can come here and say, hey, Charmander, you know. Oh, yeah, I was gonna say, hold on. I have squishy clay. I need you to make bricks so I can leave the squishy clay with Charmander, who will breathe fire on it. Make me 20 bricks that I can then use for other stuff. It's the same thing for. Yeah. When you go and put up these environments, like you saw me reveal the house over there. Yesterday I brought over like seven different Pokemon to build that house. And some of them had very specific reasons to be there. That's why it's, you know, you want a diverse selection of Pokemon here to go do it, let alone keep them happy to raise the level, which is a different part of the game, but we'll get there in a second because I'm still trying to tell you the number of games that are in it. So obviously making the Pokemon appear. So you collect the Pokemon, using them to go do stuff over there and build out. Then you have the Pokemon center PC here, right, where you jump in and you have your challenges where you go, okay, do all sorts of stuff, which is as simple as collect sticks, gather twine. These are the dailies. But then you come down here, right, and it's like, okay, go collect, you know, find Pokemon, build stuff, etc. Etc. Etc. That gives you the points that you see up there in the top, right, that you can then go to the shop. You have daily items here that are here only. I got to get that pop art here. I'll tell you that right now. That ain't getting by me. That looks great. Pop art bed. I have yada yada yada, round pillar recipe. I try to buy all the recipes just so I have them, and I can always craft them if I want to. Super chat. Not able to catch this live, but I wanted to ask Greg his top five page. Oh, favorite. Oh, if my top five Pokemons have changed after this list, I will die for ditto now. I love fucking ditto. I thought he was a creep before. A big old weirdo. I love this little guy so goddamn much. So much right now. Also, you know, doing this one and starting leaf green. New respect for Squirtle, you know, I've always respected him as an og, but I was never an OG player, so it's like, I don't know, know much about it. Anyways, here's the rest of the stuff that goes on. Yes, there's a lot of stuff for building. I was gonna say I might still have one here. You also have these that are permanent upgrades to your pp so you can have more. There's also item inventory upgrades and stuff like that. You also see, like, there's stuff that's locked behind levels. I'll show you when we get out of here. And of course, the here, come here. Buy a big cottage or leaf house. All the different building sets that I have. City House, I think is my favorite, but it's like I want to keep, I'm gonna keep. I want to keep the biome separate.
B
You know, I accidentally built some leaf stuff in. Not the leaf place.
A
Oh no. What are you gonna do?
B
I'm leaving it there.
A
Maybe at some point. I ain't got time for this.
B
Maybe at some point I'll do the move relocation thing. I haven't done that at all.
A
Yeah, yeah, me neither. And I'm sure that's gonna annoy me.
B
Why?
A
I just wish I could pick it up and move it. Like I get it. Like. But Animal Crossing kind of did a nice thing. Remember where it was like, oh, you've rolled credits now you can just.
B
You.
A
It's. You can paint and do stuff on the floors and whatever. Like, I like that a little bit.
B
I also, I guess I haven't tried bringing Pokemon from other biomes to live in different ones.
A
Yeah, I haven't either. They followed me over, right? And I was like, okay, cool. You can do that.
B
You see, I would like to have all my faves together maybe, Maybe.
A
So you see, environment level up there, five is like the story based one where like Tangrow wants you to get that before you really go on or Tangrow thing. But you know, you can move on at your whim whenever you want to and run it. So you see how the Pokemon are feeling today, what they're doing. Obviously the idea is that I'm supposed to go up to them and ask them, how are you doing? What? Here we go, over here. I say, hey, Odyx, what's up man? I just changed my outfit. Before, before you came here, I was still a sailor. And I was like, I don't want to be a sailor. It was just whatever. You ask them what their comfort level is, they want a decoration, right? And so then I take a decoration to their house and that makes them happy and it goes up and then the environment level goes up. You know, when we first started doing this and even, you know, like I was telling you before, you know, it's. The story is really get them to five or whatever for like, you know what Tangrowth wants for a major quest. But then on the daily items, there's usually one locked behind level 20. You're like, God damn. All right, so there's a lot strap in. There's a lot to do in this game. Right? Like I need to go do. Yeah, I'm taking the shot that I have the decoration in here. I often do have a decoration.
B
I know. I feel like you always end up with like something on one of the pages. What are you doing with all your CDs?
A
I hate that I don't have a CDC. I give them to DJ Rotom.
B
He can only have five.
A
I know, I know. So then, as you can see, I'm just sitting on a beach hanging out here. Like, I don't know what to do with this. I would have. I usually have a wreath on me, but not today.
B
So not today. Tragic.
A
We'll be back. We'll make him happy. Mil with a Y says, is there storage in this game, like Animal Crossing? There's storage in it in this game, like Animal Crossing with the chests. Storage, like your home where you can just go in and drop shit. No, there is not that.
B
But you can also just drop shit on the ground.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I'll switch it up. I'm gonna give them.
B
It's so interesting to see what the. What things you have that I don't have yet.
A
Oh, yeah. Again, I feel like it was. I know how much. I actually don't know how much interior decorating is gonna speak to me in this game.
B
That's never my thing for Animal Crossing or, like any sim game.
A
Yeah. With the Animal Crossing update in the hotel rooms, it did inspire me to be like, oh, this is fun. And so I went and did Happy Home and started really screwing around with all that. But then, of course, I knew that this was going to come. And then here we are. So. But with the amount of houses, I really don't know if I'm going to get into the weeds of doing it. I'm way more interested in making the outside of everything look good.
B
I agree. And there's not, like a ton of furniture that I'm, like, in love with.
A
Yeah.
B
So obviously there's, like, a lot to play if your stuff is locked behind level 20.
A
Yeah.
B
So I'm hoping that that's a part of it, that they'll keep expanding and I imagine they will with, like, the events and stuff that they have planned, but I don't. Yeah. Feel particularly inspired. And there's not like a huge range, especially compared to how many you have to set up.
A
Yeah. As you play the game, you dig out very Animal Crossing esque fossils and artifacts that you have to come show the professor here. He'll then tell you what human artifacts you found. Mystic Water.
B
Can we go see your Pokemart when you're done?
A
You can. I'm gonna tell you, I'm disappointed. I still don't have anybody working there.
B
Oh.
A
And it's one of Those of, like, I threw that down, thinking that was going to be a big, like, oh, I'm gonna do this, and it'll all populate. Like the Pokemon center did, and it didn't. And I'm like, oh. And it was in the middle of the review, I asked Midler, like, what's going on? He's like, well, you have to have somebody who has the merchant or trade skill. And I was like, I get that. And I don't know if it was this smart. It might have been the other one. But one of the people I had had the cash register on there. So I don't understand. But I think it's just, I need more Pokemon. I need somebody. But it's. We'll run in there. But it's just barren. There was nothing in there, which is a bummer. But again, then when I found out it wasn't what I needed. Cause I was looking for a very specific item.
B
Yeah.
A
And he's like, that's not even where you get that. I'm like, oh, okay. Okay, okay. Yeah. I mean, I haven't even moved the table from the habitat. You know, I'm just.
B
You're just throwing stuff down.
A
Throwing stuff down. But I think. Yeah, it's still. Yeah. Nobody's in here. He's there, but he's not. Like, there's nothing going on. Right. I think he's just trapped here.
B
Interesting. That's so weird. Guess we'll find out.
A
I know. Well, we'll have to wait and see how it goes. Yeah.
B
I assume it would just have the counter with, like, items like.
A
Yeah, that's what it's supposed to be. Yeah. When I was talking to me like, this one over here doesn't have electricity. I was like, oh, maybe that's part of it. But again, one of the other ones, I put electricity over by, and it didn't do it.
B
Yeah.
A
I was like, huh, huh. But again, it was like, I don't have time to worry about that. It's a review.
B
Yeah. The electricity thing is what makes my biomes, like, truly a disaster. Just poles everywhere.
A
Yeah. Yeah. So, like, they have electricity. Did I have it? Oh, it was the other one we saw over there. Let's jump to the second biome. We'll go to Bleach Beach. You can see it. I find the electricity so ugly. Yeah. It's not like I was hoping we would get a. Oh, here you go. This is how it's gonna beam wirelessly or put the wires underground. It's like, nope. You just have These, these giant fucking
B
poles and they're not even cute.
A
No, I agree 100%. I would like to see them fix that. There's a bit of the rustic charm to it because of course, what the fuck do Pokemon know about running electricity? Like, I get that, but it's like, yeah, that's very much the human in the world we just came from. I'm very much like, I don't care. Like Bleak beach story wise, you have to go and get. Oh, Pokemon. There's Pokemon in that trash can. Everybody. Let's go find him. Who are you?
B
Are you. Who are you? How many different Pokemon are in the game?
A
Who knows? Yeah, I don't know.
B
I have no idea.
A
You know, I. I already had, you know, trubbish, so I guess I don't know what I was expecting here coming out of the trash, but there it is.
B
Yeah.
A
What was the trash then, Adam in the decks. Now you look at specialties here of recycling and litter and stuff that they can do for you, right? Of like you can hand them stuff. Do I have. I thought I might even have waste paper on me.
B
Looks like a.
A
No, no. Shit. Oh, no, there I do. I have 22. Ooh,
B
You have a cubone yet?
A
No, I saw what I need to get him, but I haven't done it yet. Make some paper.
B
Missing link says it's crazy how many systems are in the game. So much more complex than I thought it would be.
A
100%. Which is why during that Pokemon presents me and Tim reacted to. I was like, this might be the game's worst show. And I was already playing at that point. I couldn't say it. I was like, this might be the game's worst showing of like, this made it look. And I understand different audiences, but it made it look like such a kids game where it's just like, wow. I don't know. I would look at that and be like, I'm not playing that. But I understand that. I've been up to date on everything everywhere. As you saw when I came here, I unlocked challenges just because I don't fully. They tried to explain the very beginning, but I think it is that every PC has its own thing. But I think in terms of challenges, but I think they're tracking things you do outside of just your. It's very like it wants you to go check in everywhere here. You'll see I have everybody. I'm still short these two guys, so I need to make more Pokemon habitats.
B
Well, scroll over to them because you don't need or you don't need specific ones. I think. I think if you have anybody with those two.
A
Oh, yeah, yeah, I know.
B
Oh, do you not have anybody?
A
I don't have anybody with those specialties on this world.
B
Oh, interesting.
A
In this biome.
B
Could you bring the other ones over maybe?
A
But again, it's that thing where it's like I have other centers open. So it's just like. I haven't worried about it this one very much. I don't know if it'll impress you, but I've worried about refixing all the roads here. That is all the bridges were fucked up here. And I was like, I hate this. I need to.
B
I hate that. Just hitting it once breaks it. And there's no way to fix it without taking it out and putting it back in. That's just annoying to me personally. But.
A
Oh, we got another ability to review. Oh, there's a new person. Lots happening in my world, everybody. I love this fucking game. Just if that hasn't been clear. I love this fucking game so much.
B
I'm so interested in what the multiplayer's gonna be too.
A
Yeah, we can try it.
B
We could.
A
We could do that chat if you want to boot up yours too.
B
We probably can't because we probably both have to be out of the review.
A
I can pop it out and fix the server thing real quick just so nobody sees what I'm doing. And see, here's another one I don't fully get. Right that. I'm sorry, what was that? These ones build with furniture. Did you notice that?
B
Yeah.
A
What's up with that? Why doesn't all the other houses. I do.
B
I think it's. Is it not based on size?
A
But the big one I just built. Right? Nothing is, I guess. Who back here? New Pokemon.
B
Who are you? Iroque is the way to undo that thing.
A
It's in that document I sent you. I think it's the exact same way and we just enter in a different word.
B
Okay.
A
But I don't even remember what the
B
same way I was like, I couldn't tell you.
A
You hold some buttons, if memory serves.
B
Yes. Complicated.
A
Why you gotta go make a song? Dean says, Greg, have you played much more Firered or Leafgreen or has that been on the side because of Procopi and other reviews. Sorry if I missed any. No, you have not missed anyone else ask me that question. I have seen it on the subreddit and the Patreon Greg way questions. I've seen it too. No, sadly. I played Leafgreen with Tim on launch day, and then was right back to playing as much Bookopia as possible for review. And now I am on to Crimson Desert for reviews. So, sadly, this is the job. It's an amazing job that I love. Thank you for giving it to me. But, no, I have not had time to get back to that. I still want to. Loved it, but I imagine at this point, I'd probably. I would say I'd probably restart it. I probably understand where I'm at in terms of doing it, so I'd want to do it. Oh, here we got a quiz. Ooh, let's raise our friendships here. Here it goes. What's Zubat's most favorite thing? Hard stuff or nice breezes? He flies. Kevin yells sonar from the other room. I would agree with hard stuff or nice breezes is the question, though I'm gonna say nice breezes. He flies. That's right. I guess you can tell these things. I guess you can't. I guess you can tell these things, huh? Yeah, I can. Here's your prize for doing such a good job. What did I get? And our friendship went up. I got a carrot. Love a good carrot. It was breeze.
B
Yeah.
A
Oh, he could see through it. You're thinking too hard. I appreciate that answer. I understand. You're saying, who we got? Boom. I'm getting this Pokedex filled out, folks. It's happening. Tut tut. Oh, he. He likes the tutorial. Blaster Goblin says. I have yet to hear someone explain exactly what you do in this game. Is it Animal Crossing? Does it have quests? What the hell is this game? Did you just walk in? I've been explaining the whole thing. Blaster Goblin, what do you mean you don't understand? There's a storyline here of you coming and then making. Trying to bring Pokemon back to the world. And, of course, the professor thinks that if you help bring the Pokemon back, so the world and the Pokemon help rebuild the world, the humans who are missing will come back. Where are the humans? You'll have to play to find out.
B
Yes, there are quests. There are, like, individual Pokemon quests. There are, like, world or Biome quests. And then there are some, like, bigger things that kind of are just general, big game things, which I have not finished yet.
A
Marel says there's a story, question mark. There is a story, and it made me cross cry. I just love Ditto so much now.
B
I know I was really hard on the, like, character style, but it's grown on me.
A
Yeah, me too. I was watching people react to it. I was like, oh, I remember this feeling that way. I forgot why we originally came here. We came here to complain about the power levels.
B
Oh yeah.
A
See these things like I just. I don't. Look at that. That's ugly. It's like, you know, it's like the sunset here, which I never noticed until Jen called out, like, the sunset's so ugly. San Francisco. The sunset.
B
Oh God.
A
Because of the thousands of power lines. And I'm like. As soon as she did that, I was like, why did you make me see that? Yeah, I've lived here for a decade plus. I've never noticed that from living in the sunset. And you've now ruined it. Where every time I look down the road I just see line, line, line, line, line.
B
What gameplay is better? Pocopia or Dreamlight Valley?
A
Great question, Cheryl.
B
We can answer there different. I think that there are. I mean Dreamlight Valley has a much wider array of items and stuff like that. I think it's more fun there. I don't love the quests as much as I like them in here, I think because with the expansions all coming together, sometimes the story feels like a little bit more broken up and it's hard to catch up on everything. But the like cooking and the crafting and stuff I think might be Dreamlight Valley. Just because they have so many more options for things you can make and buy. And this is pretty limited. So a little, a little bit of column A, a little bit of column
A
B. Joey, do you want to show your island or do you want to do some multiplayer stuff?

Yeah. Sometimes with the passwords, you just go in blind and you hope that you press the right buttons in the right way. Evan G. Says, oh, that's not the right person. Sorry. EVAN G. Ken Jr. Have either of you played the DQ Builder series?
A
I have. Shockingly, I have. And I've talked about it and the Vita, yada, yada. I don't remember it well, but I remember playing it, enjoying enough of it, blah, blah. And somebody asked the other day if I had ever played it. It was like not condescending, but kind of condescending. And I was like, I'm just gonna Google it. It turns out, yeah, there's a gamescast review that's me, Tim and Colin. And I was like, oh, so we, we did cover this enough that like, I played it.
B
Played it.
A
Well, it's because it's one of those funny things, right? Where. Why is this just a black screen? No, let's do a sling. Right?
B
You have to turn it off.
A
There it is. No, I already did that. I already did that. I was at a black screen rebooting Pokecopia. There was a. This is such a deep cut that nobody would know. Tim and I did a gig at GameStop Managers Expo and Nick and Colin were there too. But it was that one of the things Tim and I did specifically because like one year we ran their livestream or whatever and another year we.
B
You did like breakout rooms.
A
Yeah, and me and Tim did the breakout room. Maybe it was the same year. It doesn't matter. We did a breakout room for Square Enix. And so what it was is that like six times over two days. So like six. It's 12 total. We would do the presentation and talk about all their games and there was like a script and a presentation and one of them was this rant I did every time about Dragon Quest Builders coming to Vita. And so like before, I knew Dragon Quest as like a player now. Cause I play it and enjoy it. Like the Dragon Quest song I knew from Dragon Quest Builders being pumped into this one thing while I told Gamestop,
B
ooh, somebody else is there.
A
GameStop managers non stop is like outrageous of what was happening.
B
That's such a funny connection.
A
Who we gonna get?
B
Someone good? Someone wet. Oh, someone wet. They're in the water.
A
You're right. No, I understand. It's just a funny way to say it.
B
I Don't consider Marilla wet, but I don't actually know anything about Pokemon.
A
So you're living in the water. You gotta be wet. You know water. Fair tip.
B
I guess so.
A
The oil filled tail functions as a buoy, so it's fine even in rivers and strong cards.
B
All right.
A
You want to try multiplayer Joe?
B
Yeah.
A
Do you want to. What do you want to do? You want come to my island? You want to go do a thing over there? You want to. What are we doing?
B
I'll come to your. Let's see what coming to your island looks like.
A
We're coming to America actually. Oh no, I can do it. We're coming to America. Well, I want to. Now I want to get my free ditto rug too. Before I forget.
B
Also so interested cuz I got Merill. What feels like really early. So I wonder if they spawn in specific ways. Obviously by the biomes and the habitats. But I wonder if it's RNG for who spawns first. Okay. Yeah. Loading in. I think this is one of my. Oh no, I think the third biome is my favorite. I like aspects of the fourth one, but I really hate other aspects of it. Oo, I have a lucky day. That's exciting. Okay. Sorry. I'm also getting my rug.
A
No, you did the right thing. Folks at home, if you want to come join, there'll be two extra spots. So as long as you let Joey get in first, which with the delay should be easy enough. As long as Joey is ready when I do it. Come on and join us. Come hang out with us.
B
Visit a friend online.
A
The code. Yeah, Inviting others to visit your world. You can invite other players in your town of show of Oz. Other players can also help you develop your town. Okay. How do you want to connect online? Connect? We could have done local, but it's more fun for you to jump in. If you want to come jump in. Display the link code. Yes. Players. Yes. Spectator mode I'm not worried about, but I can't touch it. So here we go. Here comes your code, Joe. I hope it works online for the first time.
B
I'm interested in what I would be able to do if it's like animal crossing.
A
There you go. MM9W53.
B
Like can I harvest stuff? Can I use my ditto powers?
A
Yeah.
B
On your island. How does this work?
A
I'm more interested right now. You know he's coming to visit. Great. So closing the connection kicks you out. Like if I hit B, what's going to happen? Okay. Okay. Great. Great.
B
I'm on my Way to Bleak Beach. Somebody earlier asked if you're more drawn to play this or leaf green when you have spare time. There she is. It's me. Hello. I like that I get to run around like the kids in weapons.
A
Finally get to use all these little emojis.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
That's a great question.
B
Ooh, I can order stuff from your shops.
A
Oh, that's cool. That's real good. I feel like I'm more drawn to play this because I've already sunk so much time in it. There's so much still to do. Leafgreen I like, but I've also played several Pokemon. It's at this point, so it's like. It's a fun throwback to what it is now. But, I mean, I'd rather play wind and waves. And I also always could double back and do Scarlet and fill out my decks and yada, yada, yada. There's a million things I could go do.
B
There's also something to be said about, like, the zeitgeist of the new game.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
B
Which is just a little bit more fun, especially as everybody's discovering stuff and playing, and I'm sure people are unlocking cool things that I didn't know existed.
A
Yeah. Now, can you get into your bag?
B
No.
A
Interesting. Bringing multiplayer over is just hanging. We're just running around. Huh.
B
Well, that's not as fun.
A
That's not as much fun.
B
I guess I can talk to your Pokemon, but I don't know. That doesn't really do anything. Oh, invite Pokemon you meet while visiting other players towns, and they might come and visit your town once one day. I guess if you had Pokemon that I really wanted, I could come invite them. I also don't remember who I have and who I don't have. I don't think I have you. Come hang out with me next time.
A
Hold on. Jo, come take a photo of me. Oh, that's better.
B
I don't know how to change my experience.
A
Yeah. I don't know how you do it in your.
B
Maybe that. Perfect.
A
There we go. We're killing it. We crushed it, everybody.
B
Good timing. Okay, well, that's not as exciting.
A
Yeah. This kind of sucks, though. It's like. I mean, I thought we were gonna get to keep building and doing stuff. Let's try doing a Cloud Island. Set one of those up bit a little long time ago.
B
O. Okay, here.
A
What happens if I close the connection? Yeah. Yes.
B
Close the connection.
A
The host is about to close connection. Please finish whatever you might be doing.
B
But I Can't even do anything, you
A
know, running around seeing things.
B
Yeah.
A
All right, cool. And then the same thing for you. Everybody. I'm going to open this up. You can. I have a kind of funny island that we named that I've never done anything on. If you come and join us, feel free to come and join us.
B
Yeah.
A
Get ready to joke. They play a cloud island.
B
I'm still getting kicked out.
A
Oh, you're still getting kicked out. I'll wait because I don't know what it's going to see do right away.
B
Okay.
A
Coming to America.
B
Well, that's not what I want to do.
A
You got to go to the PC, remember? It's okay. It should be on your Pokedex. I agree.
B
Sometimes I just forget there's so many buttons.
A
Yeah, 100%. All right. Go to a previously visited CL Island. There you go. Kind of funny. Owner Ben. Okay. And we have three visitors. You are the other. Would you like to change the setting? No. To part with the current settings. Confirm the address link. PC here we go to the cloud and let's see what this is all about. Duke says, would you recommend this game as a good reason to get a Switch 2? Buying a system for any one game is silly. That's a lot of money for anything. However, I adore my Switch 2. I've only been playing my Switch 2 this year. As you all know. It's been a joke slash, a real thing. I love this fucking thing. So I think you are eventually going to get a switch 2. I'm always worried it might cost more money as the world continues to be the world. So I would definitely say, oh, this Pokedex. Oh, oh, oh, oh.
B
That's kind of fun.
A
Okay. Oh, yes. Ditto. Thank you. Let me go in here and then Joe and share the eyelid. There you go. 9x, l, p, n, g, y. Nine.
B
Love it.
A
Everybody feel free to join us. If you're here, you're eventually gonna get one. It might be more money. And I think I would never buy a system with the exception when I bought an SNES just for Mario World to buy just one game. This game's fucking awesome. So, like, yes, I think you are well within reason to buy this and start your Switch world, your Switch journey with it. Hold on. Shops on cloud items. You can also buy items from Clouds PC. Though purchase items can't be brought back to your world. You'll still remember any recipe you learned.
B
Oh, interesting.
A
So you can craft those items even if you. Okay. Seems kind of foolish.
B
Yeah. Especially if you have any Interest in wind and waves. Is that what it's called?
A
Yep.
B
Or like something down the line that you know you're going to buy one.
A
It's always the juggling act. Right. Of like, well, what if they, you know, a special better battery this, that the other X, Y. Like, I get all that.
B
Or like, I'll always be sad that I didn't buy the Animal Crossing Switch one.
A
I was just. We already had it.
B
I know. I was like, it's not a responsible thing to buy.
A
I was so close multiple times.
B
I know.
A
I'm glad I didn't.
B
I got kicked out again. Or through. Can you bring it back? It also might have timed out because I forgot to press confer.
A
Dude, the amount of times this game, like, are you really, really sure? I'm like, yeah, do the thing I asked you to do.
B
Whoopsies.
A
There you go. 9xl.png, y9p, n, g y9. Mark. And guys, that's not the.
B
Oh, you. That's the address. Not the link code, though.
A
All right, you ready?
B
Yeah.
A
X5D. F52. Sorry, everybody. We're learning together.
B
X5D. F5.2, F5 2. I was like, why are there not enough spaces?
A
Markengast says, Greg, as you played Resident Evil 9 on the Switch, are you gonna try other games like Monster Hunter Stories 3 and Pragmata on the Switch? Baxter's coming. They beat you already. Joey, great question. Monster Hunter Stories. I did play the demo on switch 2. If I pick that back up, I would play here, but I don't think I'm going to like the demo. I was like, okay, this isn't exactly what I'm looking for. And I'm so into this. And then the other games that are coming are coming so quickly that I just don't think I have time for that JRPG in my life.
B
And then that's nice that it doesn't give you like a loading screen for multiplayer.
A
Yeah. Because no game should. Animal Crossing. As much as we love no other multiplayer game does that. Animal Crossing. You know what I mean?
B
As much as we love the scenic view of the islands, it's a major game.
A
Turn off. Sucks. Don't do that. And so then Pragmata. One of the things about Animal Crossing in the re. I'm sorry. The things about Resident Evil were that we went and got to do demos of that. Oh, sorry, you're taking a photo. Hold on, let me get a. Yeah, let me do a celebrate pose there for you.
B
I'm making Biome or I'm making yeah,
A
we gotta get this Pokedex, you know.
B
Yeah.
A
Anyways, we had previews with Resident Evil where Bless like, yo, this looked awesome. Pragmata, am I wrong? Did Bless play it on Switch and he wasn't impressed with it. So I'm more hesitant then to be like, yeah, I'm gonna do that there. That feels like maybe one. I do either on my PlayStation or on my. Is it Xbox? Play anywhere. I still do that, so whatever. Yeah, I don't. I'm still. Well, I don't know what I'll do for Pragmatic, but I am open to it if it runs well. Sure. Are you gonna shadow Twixter? Twix? Shadow Trickster? Are you gonna play mixtape on Switch? Absolutely. The fuck not. That trailer did not look good on Switch. That's a bad sign. Solid performance says more. Okay.
B
Feeble Feeder says. I've seen comparisons to Minecraft. Is there any combat?
A
No, no. No combat, which I like personally. That's not what I'm looking for out of it.
B
Yeah, definitely not survival.
A
I know Pokemon's battling, so, like, you can make an argument for it being there, but that's not.
B
Yeah. You know, just let me live my island life and not be scared of getting blown up by a creeper or.
A
Yeah.
B
Killed by a skeleton. No, thank you.
A
Do I have. Okay. I do have all my habitats here. Very experience.
B
Well, let's see. I want to catch something. Flowers.
A
Kristoff says. Why are you. Why are any of you playing third party games on Swish? Well, I again, just played Resident Evil on Switch and it was awesome. And it was so nice to take it back and forth from the bedroom to the TV to the office to wherever I was playing. That was great. Granted, yes, I could do that with my Rog Ally as well, but as you know, sometimes things aren't optimized for the Rog Ally. And so you have a problem.
B
Yeah, I haven't really played too much on my Switch. They have in tiny bookshop.
A
Oh, yeah, I played that on PC. Is this your life from here on out, Joe?
B
Like, yeah, it's definitely the thing that I'm picking up, like, every night.
A
Yeah.
B
I think at least until. Well, I still have to finish the game. But at this point I'm like, not even really focused on that as much as catching everything. And right now it's putting together all the habitats and trying to source all the items because some of them are very specific. And there's a couple of things that I've only been able to find, like one place. So if you can't remember where that is, especially like early in the game when I wasn't really paying attention.
A
Sure. You know, you didn't even understand.
B
Yeah. Like, why would I need to remember where this, like, very specific mirror is?
A
Yeah.
B
Yeah. So now I'm kind of trying to double back and find those things and just keeping them in a little chest so I can finish all of those. I think that's kind of some of my fun. And then once I have those, then I have at least the ability to catch all the Pokemon. And then I start worrying about moving people out of habitats. I have a lot of work ahead of me.
A
That's all.
B
I know.
A
We all do. We all do. It's going to be. Yeah, this is going to be a game worth checking in. Like in six months, what have we all done? What are you doing? Let alone, again, the excitement of them supporting it with events. I really did not expect them to be like, oh, we're doing these limited run, you know, limited time Pokemon events where you can go get the certain Pokemon out of like, damn, that's really cool.
B
Yeah. I assumed we were going to get as much support as we got for Animal Crossing, which was not much.
A
Yeah.
B
Though I guess like the first year they did.
A
Yeah. It's like you had like the events of it. But even though those didn't feel like a lot.
B
I don't know. No.
A
Who wanted Bunny Day? Nobody wanted Bunny Day.
B
Oh, eggs everywhere.
A
He's probably back, isn't he? I haven't checked in. I know winter's over.
B
Oh, that's actually a reason for me not to log in.
A
Tcjsmiles says. How's the soundtrack? Very chill. It has that. I think there's more vibes here. But in that first world, it was very minecrafty. And it was me falling asleep at times too. And I'm just like, damn, this is putting me down. Because it is just a. Let's go Chillaxgate.
B
I always play mine on mute. Cause I'm usually watching something.
A
And you never played it on tv, right? You played it the whole way.
B
Yeah. I never dock my switch.
A
Which we thank you for since we used your dock.
B
It's kind of funny, but it's fine. You guys bought me a new charger so that I could leave everything here and I'll take it. That's all I really need.
A
J Free says, will this fill the animal Crossing shaped hole while I wait? Yes, 100% for sure.
B
I don't. It'll be interesting to see how Long it takes to like, do everything. The like 100% completionist run.
A
Yeah.
B
Because I will say there's, like, not that much. Like, there is an end game for this in a way that, like, what,
A
having all the habitats.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah. Okay, I see. Like, well, I guess if they keep adding Pokemon.
B
Yeah.
A
That would be like the, you know, that. And then you could always decorate, change some stuff. I don't know.
B
Yeah. I was like. I guess there's. It's the same thing with Animal Crossing where, like, you get to a point where there's not a whole lot else to do unless you decide you want to, like, redecorate or something. But I think that there's a long ways until I have to worry about
A
that because there's just something. Right. And again, it'll be interesting to see if they've, you know, learned that lesson from Animal Crossing.
B
Yeah.
A
Like, oh, well, people will stay here forever if we give them more and more stuff.
B
Yeah.
A
I wonder about. Yeah. Dlc. What else?
B
And it seems like it would be not that hard to like, keep new items coming in.
A
Yeah.
B
On the store and stuff like that too. This area is like, much bigger than I thought it would be.
A
I don't know why this island thing. Yeah. I think it's outrageously big. But again, I, I, you know, it's interesting of. What are you doing? You know, Mike was asking me this today on the show of like, well, what do we do here? I guess. Yeah. Like, if I discover people over here, I'll fill out my Pokedex, even though they won't be in my world. Which is interesting. Right. Cause that'd be an easy, easy way to. If we were all committed to really going through and nailing this.
B
Yeah.
A
Get your Pokemon that way.
B
I wonder if one person finds it if it unlocks for everybody on this airwave.
A
I would think so. Right. Right. Oh, but there is the Cloud Pokedex.
B
So it's only for.
A
I guess they are a lot unlock here.
B
That is a bummer. Well, I guess. Going to say it would be fun to just come here and like mine, but I guess that's what the Dream Islands are for.
A
Yeah. Yeah.
B
Something I always forget about. Do you go to the Dream Islands a lot for stuff or no?
A
A lot. No. But again, I think that's such a specific. Okay. I need, like, now that I'm into, I want to go create this stuff. So if you didn't know everybody. These dolls here you can collect in game, but you can get them here, obviously. Obviously too. You can't take it with you. But you put this down, and then you can call Drifloon, who will then take you to a dream island based on one of these. It will tell you what resources are over there before you go. So you could lay down all five of these, for instance, go up, be like, well, I'm really looking for iron ore. Find one that says iron ore. Then you could go off, get the iron ore, come back, deposit it, and then all day long go back and forth for no fear or anything like that. So it's this, like, way. Yeah. To go off and really get what you need and want out of your building thing. And since I haven't been building like that, I haven't had to worry about it.
B
I'm gonna have to do that for gold and poke metal. This weekend, I feel like is gonna be my go to. I'm also not one that has, like, a vision for, like, building out an island like this from scratch.
A
Yeah.
B
So I don't know that this would be, to me, a ton other than. Yeah. Using it to catch Pokemon.
A
Lunchbox in the chat says Pokemon Pocopia is 100 bucks here in Canada. Would you count it as a worthwhile purchase at that price? Mileage varies for each and every one of you on what you value, what you make, yada, yada, yada. And all that stuff. For me, Greg Miller, if I did not work here, even I would say yes. I think again, we're talking about I'm 35 hours in plus now, credits rolled, and all I want to do is play this. And there is so much more to do. I think when we talk about games and where you're going to burn out and get blah, blah, blah, like, there's a lot of different conversations there, and everybody's different. And I'm not trying to take away from that. I just can't foresee a world where I don't easily put 100 hours into this. That's coming back. Obviously you know how hectic our schedules are for playing other games, like, coming back and whatever. But, like, yeah, like, I'm gonna be here. I'm gonna be playing this game. So it really is.
B
This is like, for sure my persistent game.
A
Yeah. Always keep it on your switch. Be ready to go. But again, if that's not you for some reason, if that's not what you want to do, I get it.
B
And it's also, like, how big of a Pokemon fan are you? Like, if you're kind of meh on it, then might not find it as enjoyable. But as someone who doesn't really care about Pokemon and has never played, like, a mainline game, I have a lot of fun with it. Pokemon.
A
Ooh.
B
And it does make me excited to play Wind and Waves, which I think I'm gonna play.
A
Have you ever done a regular Pokemon? No.
B
Mm.
A
Mm.
B
Only. Only Snap.
A
Hell yeah, Joe.
B
But. Well. And I think the aesthetic of it is, like, very fun and way more my vibe than any of the recent ones that have come out.
A
Sure, sure, sure, sure.
B
Give me all the island goodness
A
you
B
got me with Animal Crossing, you know?
A
Yep. Well, I was asking Tim the other day, like, on the stream, like, why is everything island themed? You know what I mean? Like, come on. It's like, have you ever been to Hawaii? I'm like, no. He's like, that's why
B
you've never been to Hawaii.
A
Never been to Hawaii, man. We talked about it a lot, but
B
we have so many direct flights from sn.
A
I know it's easy to do, I just never did it.
B
Gotta add it to the fam. Vacation list, you know?
A
Instead, Ben picked New York. We're going to New York.
B
You gave him, like. Did you give him carte blanche? Yeah, he picked New York.
A
Picked New York. That's when you're taking care of new break.
B
No, I know. I just didn't know that that was Ben motivated.
A
Oh, yeah, Ben. We're like, where do you want to go for spring break, Ben? And, like, you know, let him pick it. He's like, new York. I want to see the Ghostbusters Firehouse in Spider Man. We're like, all right, let's go.
B
That's gonna be so fun.
A
Yeah. It's gonna be crazy. I've never gone to New York for fun. I've gone for work, obviously, a bunch. And, like, I've had fun, but I've never gone with, like, wake up, have a cup of co. What are we doing? Where are we going? We start putting all the museums down and, like, making Ben making. But, like, we. I think this started when we were watching Home Alone for obviously Lost in New York for Christmas. And it was like, what if we did that? And it was like we started making, like, the Google Maps list of all the places to go and things. Joey, I swear to God.
B
What?
A
It's like clockwork that whenever I get to the final corner, I run out of pieces. You know what I mean? Like, what the hell? How does that happen?
B
It's a gift that you have.
A
I know, man.
B
That'll be fun. New York's so fun.
A
Yeah. April, that should be a good time. I still gotta hit up Asian M. I wanna get a tour for him. I've been obviously of Marvel hq, all that jazz. I'll have a great time. Jen, not so much. No, I'm kidding. I'll be with you. He'll have a great time.
B
Oh, he will. And I think Katie's gonna be gone, so I think it'll be Wesley too. I'll just get to be buds. That's so funny that he wants to go. Like, am I surprised that your son wants to go to the Ghostbusters house? No, not at all. But I do think it's funny that it.
A
Here we go.
B
It was a defining thing.
A
We're jumping rope as a group. Everybody, let's lock in. Well, that was fun.
B
Not super coordinated screen capture there.
A
Oh, I got four piles of stardust. Nice.
B
Ooh, have you figured out what to do with that?
A
I want to say I remember recipe coming up, but I don't.
B
Okay. Because I have some of it, but I have not. I didn't know if it was like a get there.
A
Sure, sure, sure.
B
Kind of thing. Endgame Ultra.
A
Now, I will point out that this games cast play is just turned into a stream. I will acknowledge this is the editorial product. We're supposed to keep talking, but we're just having a great time. You know what I mean? It's been a long time. Time. Joey and I have not been able to play this together. We have not been able to play with you, the audience. We have people from the audience playing with this right now. So I don't want to. I don't want a lot of people giving me crap about it. All right? I'm just having a good time.
B
Listen, we put it up on the feeds. We did a really good job at the beginning, if I do say so myself. And then eventually when we get to the multiplayer part, maybe that's when we
A
drifted off of it. We just started playing, having fun. Ooh, can we do this? We can do that. We can jump rope together. All right. All right. Yeah, sure.
B
I want to. Maybe I'll go down here
A
jumps04 says this will be Greg's most played game of the year easily. Yeah, probably. I think this will be the one I come back to over and over again with Skate on the Wayne. We'll see how long that's all around, whatever. But like, you think you're gonna put
B
more hours into this than gta?
A
Yeah, I think, yes. Based on how much time we have with it. Right where it's like, if it was. Okay, cool. You know, GTA is coming out next month. Then maybe there's a different conversation there.
B
Yeah.
A
But right now with like, okay, it's just us like this. And this will be with me on every flight now you figure like.
B
Yeah, Yeah. Did anybody pick this up for fantasy critic? I'm sure someone did, right?
A
Yes. But I could not tell you off. Tomahuh. Who has IT. Chat? You can check. Tim did Nick Nitro even off the clock.
B
Tim getting some points.
A
Well, he might have done it earlier than that. I can't remember. I don't.
B
Oh, like, if he.
A
Yeah. I don't think it was, like, at the last minute he came through and got it. Oh, yeah. Because he was actually. Nick was answering solar. So did anyone draft this? So I think it might have been at the draft. Yeah, yeah.
B
Oh, Pokemon.
A
Which, you know, good for him. We did not know at this point if this was gonna work out.
B
Yeah. Because that was before even nobody played it.
A
Yeah. Yeah. It was just a weird trailer. I don't wanna stop, but we should start whining now.
B
I know.
A
I gotta go play other things too. I gotta talk myself out of going to fucking Nintendo Store. And I'm not going to. I'm going. It's a losing battle, but I'm like, I gotta start looking at timetables for what I'm doing. I think they got a new meta knight amiibo out to the store.
B
Oh, man. They gotta add to Ben's collection.
A
I can't believe how many times I go to the Nintendo Store.
B
It's crazy.
A
When it opened, it was like, oh, that's a cool thing to have in San Francisco. And I'm like, there. I'm there all the time.
B
Is that like a common weekend excursion for the Millers?
A
Yeah, common enough. Where it's like, yeah, we're gonna go over there and see what's up. Anyone? Union Square. So nice. There's just so much going on.
B
It is nice. Nice to see some of the city coming back.
A
Yep. For sure. For sure.
B
I know. I guess.
A
Yeah.
B
I've only been the one time, but I don't really. Yeah, I don't really. I'm not on that side of the city that often.
A
Yeah, that's. I mean, that's the one part about it where it's like. It's really. Yeah, I'm going there for that.
B
Yeah.
A
And then any.
B
Not a lot else to do over there.
A
I thought about it where I was like, well, we will be down there for GDC next week. So maybe I can play it out that way. I'm not gonna make it. There'll be other things going on too.
B
Yeah, that is exciting for gdc. Oh, feel like it always sneaks up on me.

Podcast: Kinda Funny Gamescast
Date: March 5, 2026
Hosts: Greg Miller & Joey Noel
In this Gamescast Plays episode, Greg Miller and Joey Noel dive deep into Pokémon Pocopia, Nintendo's latest cozy, creative life sim that blends Pokémon collection, Animal Crossing-style town building, and Minecraft-inspired exploration. Having both sunk dozens of hours into the new release, they compare approaches, spotlight favorite features, unpack the surprising narrative, and experiment with multiplayer. This episode is a hands-on, spoiler-lite tour and reflection, peppered with advice for newcomers and plenty of anecdotes illustrating the game’s depth, emotional impact, and long-term draw.
On the game’s emotional weight – Greg:
“I cried. Jesus Christ, the ending…so amazing…Made [Jen] cry telling her.” (13:40)
On creative freedom – Greg:
“My island…still looks like trash. I don’t want to be judged for having a messy area.” (01:42)
On 3D printing items – Greg:
“You take a photo…and the 3D printer gives you the item. That is fucking awesome.” (23:11)
On value for money – Greg:
“If I didn’t work here, I’d still say yes. All I want to do is play this. There is so much more to do.” (68:49)
On multiplayer discovery – Joey & Greg:
“That’s not as fun…Just running around.” (53:08)
“Let’s try doing a Cloud Island…” (54:06)
On continuing to play – Joey:
“This is for sure my persistent game…I pick it up every night.” (69:47)
Pokémon Pocopia is an instant classic for the cozy/construction sim genre, with depth and heart beyond initial impressions. An easy recommendation for Switch owners craving community, creativity, and Pokémon charm—just be ready to lose track of time (and maybe cry a little).
