free and our exclusive shows, go to patreon.com kindafunny. Yo, what's up? Welcome to Gamescast Plays for Tuesday, February 3rd, 2026. I'm on your host blessing, Addie OA Jr. Alongside the founder and CEO of grasshopper manufacturer Suda51.
Greg
Hello.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
And also joining us is the community manager and interpreter for Suda 51, James Moun.
Suda51
How's it going?
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Welcome back. Welcome back.
Greg
Just some dude.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
And we also got Greg.
Host 1
Hey everybody.
Greg
I'm here to play. I'm just gonna play. I'm Just playing. Don't worry.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, Greg is here to play. The one and only Romeo is a dead man. Of course, if you're watching, we just did a gamescast all about Romeo's a dead man, but even More so about Suda51 and his career. And now we're jumping into the game. The game is out next week. February 11th I believe is the date Red's gonna hop in. Greg, have you been. Is this one that you've been looking forward to?
Host 3
Where are you at?
Greg
I haven't. Yeah. Every time we've seen the trailers for it, I've been stoked about it. It's gotten me more and more in, especially as I'm always like, oh, this is one. Yeah, I'll chase. This is one.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I want to go after now. Suda, when we were talking earlier, you mentioned 150% more blood than any of the games you put out recently. How would you say? How would you measure? I guess the craziness. The wackiness. Right. Like how out of control does this game get compared to your previous games?
Suda51
He says this game is. It's actually probably going to be hella easy to understand compared to all the stuff. It's pretty much the same exact story as a story of like Mario and Peach and like, you know, Romeo and Juliet. It's just your, you know, run of the mill basic ass love story. Really easy to get into and understand.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Beautiful.
Suda51
I'm pretty sure he's being sarcastic or we have to start worrying about him. But
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
now we're jumping into this intro cutscene here. I want to acknowledge and compliment the visuals. Gorgeous. Yeah. How did we do this here?
Host 1
Longing for hope.
Suda51
This is an actual like diorama that we actually have in the studio. We made like this whole big ass town of. Of Deadford and filmed it using that.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
This is so cool. But of course, if you're watching live, remember you can super chat in to be a part of the show over on YouTube.com kindafunnygames if you're watching the Gamescats they did before this also. I love these titles screen by the way.
Greg
Oh, thank you.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, it reminds me of Yorgos, the director behind Poor Things and his most recent game or most recent movie, Bonia. There's like a similar kind of style
Suda51
that I like playing. That was awesome.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, right? Really good.
Host 1
The current president is controlled by a fifth generation AI implanted by the Space Time King.
Greg
The Space Time King?
Suda51
What the hell is that?
Host 1
He has an AI chip in his brain. All his executive orders are decided by
Greg
the AI Wait a second. Sad A person.
Suda51
Pull over.
Greg
This is car number four.
Suda51
Car number four. I'll go check it out.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
As I was saying, if you're watching the Gamescast before this, I'll be putting pulling super chats in from that episode. We had so many come in, but I wasn't able to get to all of them.
Greg
Look at you, paying it forward.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Come on. Here we go.
Suda51
Someone's asking why I'm all wet and my hair keep getting in my eyes and I just couldn't be bothered, so I just.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, already we're getting a lot of blood. Also, while we're here, shout out to the Patreon producers, Carl Jacobs, Omega Buster and Delaney. The song 20
Greg
already. So up my alley. Let's get weird. Let's have some AI stuff. Let's talk about the end of the world. Let's bring in some undead zombies. Now we got a portal jumping motorcycle.
Voice Actor/Character
Okay, you're still alive.
Greg
Am I gonna die?
Voice Actor/Character
Romeo, listen up. You're gonna die in about 15 seconds.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Seriously?
Voice Actor/Character
Seriously. Don't worry. I made this just in case. The Dead gear life support system. Damn. Five seconds left.
Suda51
Don't move.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Okay? Yeah.
Greg
Get over here. You gotta watch this.
Suda51
Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
How's your art team able to manage all these different styles? You had the diorama. You then went to like the realistic kind of visuals, and now you're in this cartoon world. Like, how much is your art team doing for all this?
Suda51
Actually, it wasn't all just our internal art team. A lot of the animations you'll see were done by a couple studios we collaborated with. One of them is. They're called Shirokumi. They worked on one of the more recent Godzilla movies or something like that. Another one is. Another one is Kamikaze Doga, which is another studio we've worked with. We've worked with for a while. They're just. They're really good at what they do. They come up with all kinds of crazy. And yeah, they handle a lot of the actual animated sequences for us. Oh yeah, The second one that he mentioned. Yeah, they worked on the. The Ninja Batman series.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
That's co.
Suda51
And right here you're supposed to die. So don't worry about it.
Greg
Everybody knew that.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Don't worry.
Greg
Greg's on the controller. They knew you were supposed to die. I wouldn't die if I'm not supposed to die.
Suda51
A lot of times when you start a game, like, it takes too long for you to actually get in the game, be able to do anything, you know? So we Tried to keep it as short and sweet as possible so you can at least do something with the controller for the game to actually finally start.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh yeah. Gregor liked these concrete panels.
Greg
Oh yeah. This is what we saw in the trailers. I was like, oh, wait a second. This seems like totally my stuff.
Suda51
This scene right here in particular was done by one of our. Our veteran artists named Nomaru. And we also have a video director named Araki who they. They work together to put together this whole sequence.
Greg
Oh wow.
Suda51
These are actual grasshoppers.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Cloud Sheep, who is watching live, is asking if there's any plans for a physical release.
Suda51
We. We'd love to put out a physical edition. We're. We're doing what we can to. To get, you know, to make that happen in the moment. But for now, everyone please buy the. Out of the digital version that would actually help. Help us make a physical one. So. But we're. We're trying.
Greg
Oh n. Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Arum, who's watching live, wants to know, will you ever return to the somber, surreal, even spiritual tone of Moonlight Syndrome or the political thriller style of Killer seven in the.
Suda51
Yes, of course. One of these days he'll get back to it. Yeah, yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Awesome.
Suda51
For sure. Keep going. So you're. You're comfortable with the controls and everything? Like.
Greg
Oh yeah, drop. Nice.
Suda51
Nice heavy moves and the lighter moves.
Greg
Yeah, no. Easy to pick up and play. Easy to get your head wrapped around
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
the voice that says dead when you. When you finish that combat sequence. Is that the same voice from no More Heroes? Because I remember hearing like a similar sort of thing.
Suda51
It's actually a different voice. That's the. This is the voice of somebody, one of the guys in our studio. And I, I myself actually have a voice part in the game as well.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh, cool. You James or Suda51? Oh, me, me. Oh you. Oh, that's cool.
Greg
That's cool. Was it earlier already? Was it in the first cut scene? Cuz I thought I saw it sounded like you.
Suda51
I don't think it's come out. It actually. Yeah, it has come out. Well,
Greg
I got the ear, everybody.
Suda51
Don't worry.
Voice Actor/Character
A really disturbed guy claiming to be from the FBI Space Time Police showed up. According to this Kimberly fellow, Juliet is a space time drifter and has popped in and out of all sorts of different eras. Is she a singularity, A variant, A clone, or a visitor from another Earth? The towns in which she appears get space time locked and end up splitting up and disappearing.
Suda51
One difference between this game and Mario is there's no KOOPA and there's no Bowser in this game. In this game, Juliet kind of does double duty as the princess and Bowser at the same time.
Greg
Inventive.
Suda51
Basically, the only difference between this story and Mario in general.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Good to know. Good to know. I want to shout out this one that we got from Bander. SN who's watching live. Who says, hey, Suda. No More Heroes was my first M rated game ever, and I was obsessed with it. Been a fan ever since. Still listen to Philistine from No More Heroes 2.
Greg
Wow. Thanks so much.
Suda51
What kind of song was that?
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh, it was like. It was kind of like upbeat rock song. I also listen to that song a lot. I think it was one of the boss songs.
Suda51
Yeah, the. The no More Heroes 2 soundtrack actually appears to be pretty popular among. Among fans.
Greg
We've got great taste in music. I listened to the Zazen Boys out there. You said zazen Boys. I was.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I turned.
Greg
I'm like, they're good. I like them.
Suda51
I like that this guy knows what's up.
Greg
We've just.
Voice Actor/Character
Other space and time have won some intense battles. And now we discover another new Juliet. Okay, Romeo, it's time to fight.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
We have one from sky who says, if you could use only three words to describe Romeo as a dead man, what would they be?
Suda51
Romeo is a dead. And I was.
Greg
See, that's you. That's you.
Suda51
I mean, you think, okay, Oscar Wilde. Clearly we need this. This random American dude with the. The manic flur of a dope fiend to get a voiceover for that. So that's why I was chosen.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Science fiction. Okay.
Suda51
Yeah, that's way more than three words. But let's say ultra violence is one word.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Okay.
Suda51
Bloody is one word. And then science fiction.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, that has a dash, though, that. That counts.
Suda51
Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Thank you. AJB in who's Watching Live says they love Grasshopper's mix of visual mediums. They wish more studios experimented like that. Do you find it tough to create elements together? Do you find it tough to make elements and mash them together? Understand this.
Suda51
Well, to put it simply, we. We didn't originally start out planning to make it looking like this. It was going to be just a pretty straight up, you know, full Polygon 3D game? I'll be honest, I was reading some of the comments and wasn't paying attention to the first part, but we've gotten similar questions, so I'm pretty sure I can nail this one.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah.
Suda51
We came to a point where we realized if we did the whole game just in the same visual style. It was actually going to go way over budget and way over schedule and we decided, okay, we got to change some stuff around. So we came up with the idea of making some, you know, using some of the visual styles for different parts of the game.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Nice.
Suda51
Which is something we've experimented before some of our past games. And so, yeah, we. We mixed up a bunch of visual styles, making things actually cheaper and take less time to make nice. And the reason it all comes together so well in the end, he says because the director's got an excellent eye. So that's. That's thanks to him.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Greg, how's it feeling? Feeling on the stick so far?
Greg
Feeling really good. Feeling really, really good. Liking the style, liking the attacks. Loving zombies, of course, especially, you know, to go into that hold down. R1, come in. Make it all.
Suda51
Oh, you can long press the button. Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Okay.
Host 1
Yeah,
Suda51
If you use one of the L buttons, you can like hold it. You can keep your gun out.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh, L2.
Greg
Oh, okay.
Suda51
Yeah, there you go.
Greg
Okay.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
And if you want to reload on command, you aim and then press square.
Greg
Nice.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
There.
Suda51
So one particular thing about the combat and the battle here is if you use. Oh, there you go. If you use the gun, you know, you get lots of blood. But if you use the, the. The melee weapons of your sword and get up close, you get even bloodier. And you've got that gauge on the left side of the screen there called the. The blood gauge. You're actually just pulled it off a second ago. But if you get that all the way filled up, you can pull off what's called Bloody Summer, which is like Romeo's. Nice. Oh, there we go. How many you need?
Greg
Next time there's an E3 you need somebody to play on.
Suda51
Also there's that thing right there, that little glowing thing on the ground. You can blow those up too.
Greg
Yeah. I got the trophy for walking them earlier. I wasn't sure if they were good or bad.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I think they're. They're good. I think you just.
Suda51
Yeah, you can. You can just step on them too.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
That's fine. Yeah.
Greg
Let me get my upgrade material.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
That's one of the Mario things.
Greg
Yep.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah.
Greg
Nice. You see a barrel, you got to
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
know there's somebody earlier in. In chat has gone now, but they mentioned that this game reminds the of the free to play Skeleton man game that's Let it Die, which is a game that came out from Grasshopper as well. So.
Suda51
Yeah, we were. We were somewhat involved in that one too.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah. Yeah, funny. Enough. I know I mentioned I'm a big fan of no More Heroes, but Let it Die is like right under that when I. When I talk about my favorite Grasshopper games. I really loved Let It Die.
Greg
Oh, thank you so much.
Host 1
Of course.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah. Oh, that's lassy.
Greg
Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
In my time previewing the game, I noticed that there's a lot of different like glossy and different types of foods that you're picking up and foods from different cultures. What inspired bringing that stuff into the game?
Suda51
He said, I decided a while back that I'm gonna start putting food, like some kind of food in like all my games. And so for this one I decided to go with cuts curry, which.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Nice.
Suda51
It's. Yeah, you'll get into it. You'll get into it a bit more later on. But yeah, that's kind of the. That's the main food item in Rome is again. There you go.
Greg
That's nice. I'm locked in.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
He. He's locked in. Speaking of being locked in, if you're watching, you should be locked in to patreon.com kindafunny and YouTube.com kindafunnungames because over there you can get the kind of funny membership which allows you to get shows just like this one. And we're back.
Greg
It's an amazing venue to go.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, right. In old school tv.
Greg
I love it.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Again, like, I feel like every, every like visual style in this game. Moment to moment feels so distinct but also so intentional. The way that I like.
Greg
That's suda.
Suda51
That's true. Giving them.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Wow.
Greg
Thank you. I have a two part question here.
Suda51
Yeah.
Greg
What's the obsession with Juliet, of course, Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw. And then in your head, is Juliet from Lollipop Chainsaw in alternate universe of this Juliet? Because you were talking about the multiverse. Thank you.
Suda51
Oh, you mean obsession with Juliet as
Greg
in the name with this guy or not? No, no, no, not. Yeah, yeah.
Suda51
Okay, I'll be honest. Sorry, I spaced. What was the second question again?
Greg
So, so obviously already having Juliet Starling, right? For the last game. So why another Juliet here? We like that name so much. And then the second part was in your head, is Juliet Starling an alternate version Multiverse Juliet here.
Suda51
Well, to start off, he says for Lollipop Chainsaw. You know, as you mentioned, the character's name is Juliet and she's got her sidekick, whatever, Nick, her boyfriend, who's mainly just a head on a chain.
Greg
Shout out. Michael Rosenbaum, great voice actor.
Suda51
And actually, at first I meant to have the characters named Juliet and her boyfriend would be Romeo. And then Warner Brothers stepped in and said, that name sucks. Change it to Nick. And I was like, I think we can all.
Greg
Nick is a terrible name. I've never met a Nick I enjoyed.
Suda51
So anyway, I decided to. He says, I decided to name the main character Romeo to, you know, kind of give him his props. That sure, I got screwed out of giving him years ago with Lollipop Chainsaw. But conversely, when I first started writing the game, Juliet wasn't that important or big of a character. She was barely in it, like, if at all. And after, you know, going through and rewriting a couple of things and doing a couple more drafts, she just sort of naturally kind of became a bigger and bigger part of the game. And now she's, you know, clearly a pretty crucial character. But yeah, at first she was barely in it at all maybe just, I think mentioned a couple times. So this place you're in now, this is called Subspace. You enter in through the Nirvana TV and it's sort of like a corridor between, between different levels, between different parts of levels. What you have to do here is, yeah, you've got to collect the, the pieces of the, the, the space time key for what's called a Kalista Gate. And once you get all the pieces together, you can finally progress on to wherever it is you're heading towards.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
We had a super chat in from Kessel Winks who says just, just jumping in from catching up on the interview. Is there a game or moment from a game that cemented Suda51's dislike of Perry's?
Suda51
This is secret, which is why he said it really quietly. But he, he tried playing some, some games by. From software. Perry was really difficult and I just couldn't seem to get it right.
Greg
My man and my man.
Suda51
It just made me feel shitty and I gave up on it. So. But, but that's, that's, that's secret. So, you know, try to. Yeah, we won't let that between us.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
We'll cut that out of the final one.
Suda51
Right on.
Greg
Get. Nice. Okay.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Dead. He's locked in. He's locked in. Were there any gameplay changes in your previous games that you implemented here that you weren't able to do in previous ones. Out.
Suda51
Not sure if this probably answers your question, but, you know, we've been doing hack and slash action games, swords and stuff for a long time and it was, it had been a while since we did anything with guns and I've been wanting to go back to gun action for a while now and just the last couple games, you know, didn't really have a place for it. So I was happy to finally be able to go back to the use of guns in this game, if that counts.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh yeah, that counts. That counts for sure.
Suda51
Another thing is something I've been wanting to do for a while, he says is the, the crafting element. He says. I've been wanting to do a craft, some kind of crafting element in one of my games for a while, but haven't got the chance. We finally have it here. It's basically zombie farming. The zombies that you can farm and sort of craft. They're called the, the bastards. And you, you basically, you grow them, you harvest them and you equip them as various types of skills Romeo can use in battle.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Nice.
Greg
Yo, this shit's awesome. Yeah, this is awesome.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
The motion on them too is really cool.
Greg
And w.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Do you still watch wrestling nowadays? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Suda51
Recently. He says, recently I've just been watching, like, old school matches on, like, Twitter and stuff. Like, actually recent.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Okay.
Host 1
It's an annoying sound.
Host 2
Okay, let's get started.
Suda51
Somebody ordered a beer for me just now, so if I can get that anytime.
Greg
Do you want an IPA or do you want something lighter?
Suda51
Ipa.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Cool.
Greg
Greg,
Suda51
Thanks for that one. Nitrogen mustard. Appreciate it.
Greg
Jesus.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Jesus.
Host 1
This is Juliet too, right?
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
What goes into designing Romeo's character? You know, I feel like a lot of your games are known for those iconic main characters, especially somebody like Travis Touchdown. But when you're creating a new character like Romeo, how do you think about designing a character that's going to resonate with players?
Greg
Every day is like, Monday.
Suda51
One of again, one of our veteran artists, guy named Tadayuki no Maru. He. He's really great at character design and concept art and stuff. And he says basically for Romeo and with a lot of our characters, we just. I work with him. We go back and forth, say, okay, I want like this kind of element and this kind of vibe and something like this, this. And he'll draw something. I'll be like, what do you think about that? And we'll decide, okay, maybe let's tweak this this way. And just kind of going back and forth with. With the guy and.
Greg
Yeah, we thank you, Barrett.
Suda51
Oh, nothing that was actually going to happen.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Hey, you asked me deliver.
Greg
We are not your average video game commentary company.
Suda51
Also. So he doesn't get one, huh? He's. He's upset now. If you hold the stick down, you can. You can run too.
Greg
Yeah, yeah.
Suda51
Okay.
Greg
Yeah, yeah.
Suda51
You're good at games.
Voice Actor/Character
Yeah, don't.
Greg
Don't you all see I'm about to die somewhere.
Suda51
Is this the first time you've actually played this game?
Greg
Yeah, this is the first time. I wanted to hold off till release. I'm trending. Aimer 2015 student.
Suda51
He says, the first time I played this boss, when I was debugging the game, I died like 10 times. Like, what's up with you, man?
Greg
Well, you're definitely gonna see me die once at least. Oh, there we go. Thank.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
You.
Suda51
Go, go.
Host 1
Run, run.
Suda51
You might want to use Bloody Summer on the dude.
Greg
Oh, I was. I was wondering if I had to get him down first. Oh, you missed.
Suda51
Nice, Nice.
Greg
He got me. You got me.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Hey, run it back.
Greg
Run it back. We got this now. I thought I would have had some health. I didn't realize I was empty on my health when I came.
Suda51
Oh, here we go.
Greg
See, we. Well, we needed to see that for the demo. We needed to see that for the demo. What? Oh, nice. Yeah, yeah. Oh, okay. Oh, yeah,
Suda51
The. The scene with the. The raider's ass.
Greg
Yeah.
Suda51
Ice melting thing. That was actually done with practical effects. We actually shot that.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Wow.
Suda51
Easy. Or anything.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
That's cool.
Suda51
There's one thing that we actually did rip off from. Sorry, we're influenced by. From. From software. It's when you. When you save all the dudes that you just took out. Respawn.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Nice.
Suda51
Which, depending on how you look at, piss you off.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah. I mean, I imagine that helps for. If you just wanted to farm resources by killing guys and then upgrade for
Suda51
the boss if you're stuck.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I imagine that helps ruin. If you wanted to farm resources if you're stuck on a boss or something.
Suda51
Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Greg
Yeah.
Suda51
That's exactly what it was for.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Gotcha.
Suda51
I think he's probably a standing because he brought it up, but let's say this one more.
Greg
Give a chance. This is it. This is the shot. We got it.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
We got one from Meg Ener, who's watching live, who says. Earlier, Suda discussed a few ideas for an unconventionally peaceful grasshopper game. I just want to point out Frog Minutes is the world's best casual game. Yeah. What is Frog Minutes?
Host 3
Yeah.
Sponsor Voice
Wow.
Suda51
It's a game that. He says it's a game we made way back in the day for Apple. It was a. Was a mobile game and you're. You basically collect frogs in just this really super beautiful, peaceful place. It's like the most beautiful, peaceful place on earth and you're playing with frogs. That's nice. Honestly, that's pretty much the game, but.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
All right.
Suda51
It's.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I gotta look up footage.
Suda51
Still got a couple. Still got a couple fans out there. Yeah. Unfortunately, it's not officially.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh yeah.
Suda51
Downloadable anymore.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Images.
Suda51
Yeah, it's not. I guess you could say it's not on the Apple store anymore.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
All right.
Suda51
If you use. If you hit up on the. On the D pad, you can use a capsule to.
Greg
That's why I had wasted it before, so I don't want to waste it. I came in with no cap. You made the game. I'll take it from here. All right. I know what I'm doing.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I like this question from Openness. Who's watching live? If there was an anime studio that could take one of his IP and make it into an anime, what studio and IP would you choose and why is it Studio Trigger.
Suda51
Yeah, trigger kick studio. Trigger kicks ass. Yeah. But he says, I've actually made a promise with Kamikaze Doga, one of the studios that did a lot of the animation for this game. Okay. If I'm gonna make an anime game, it's gonna be Gundam and we're gonna make it together.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Nice.
Suda51
So, I mean.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, that makes sense. There's a lot of.
Suda51
See how that works out.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
And no More Heroes 2 had like, big Gundam fights.
Greg
Oh, you get. You get to get.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh, there it is.
Greg
We got there. We got there. They call me Greg. Two attempts. That's all I need. Just two with tails.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Do you try Greg
Greg
callers? They called me two pump chump. But that's. That's a story for another day.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
That's almost gonna bring us to a close. But I do want you to see the next portion of this.
Greg
Okay?
Suda51
Okay. I almost fell in love.
Voice Actor/Character
You're a sucker for pretty girls eating your blood.
Host 1
Hey, Grandpa. So this monster is also Juliet.
Greg
What the hell is going on?
Voice Actor/Character
This is probably some kind of fake.
Host 1
So transformed.
Voice Actor/Character
Or it could be a failed clone. We'll look into it back on the ship.
Suda51
This is Kimberly.
Greg
Singularity disappearance confirmed. Begin recovery operations.
Host 1
Wilco.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Metal. Ify, who writes in wants to know, is this in the same universe as any of your other games? Is there a pseudo verse?
Suda51
Yeah, he says, apparently mostly based on what the fans say, you know, there is a pseudo verse that exists all right. And immediately. But real talk. There are a handful of characters from previous games that make an appearance in this game for various reasons in different contexts. So that's something to look out for, want to watch out for.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I love that. And skyrights. And it just says, how's this game? So cool.
Greg
This game's so cool.
Suda51
Oh, wow.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Thank you.
Suda51
Says, I'm. I'm hella happy to hear that. Thanks a lot.
Greg
We.
Suda51
We really worked our asses off making this game.
Greg
So it shows.
Suda51
Super happy.
Greg
This is really cool.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
There have been multiple people that have been asking, how long is the game?
Suda51
If you're pretty. If you get pretty good at it. If you're used to games, you could probably get it done in maybe like 10 or so I hours on average, depending on, you know, how. How full on you play it and. Or how. How quickly you get through it, how good you are. Somewhere between 10 to 15 hours on average.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Okay, nice.
Suda51
So this. This song. Song here, this is an original song that we had a band called Looby Sparks do for us.
Greg
Judd Nelson. What? Who's John Nelson in the game?
Suda51
I saw the list of. Of, you know, the voice actor auditions.
Greg
Yeah.
Suda51
And I'm like, I don't need to hear the files. Just. Yeah. In the game. Trust me. Trust me on this. As the only American in the studio, I know what I'm talking about. But you walked out.
Greg
Just hand up.
Suda51
He's like, oh, so he really is popular. I quit you, dude.
Greg
Sky in the chat, Judd Nelson, Right?
Suda51
So as far as I'm concerned, we got Jud Nelson and Larry Cedar. And Larry. I was just super stoked up
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
also, what an opening credit sequence. Thank you.
Suda51
This is our video director. Araki made this. He's got. He's got some pretty. Some pretty good sense for this kind of.
Greg
Oh, man.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah.
Greg
I love how weird you are. I love it. God. These are games with style.
Suda51
Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Come on.
Greg
Yeah, come on.
Host 3
Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah.
Greg
I see. Wanted to stick around for it. That was great.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah, I. I still want to stick around for just the very, like, the start of this next part. Again. I love how weird this is.
Greg
Yeah. It looks like the old ones where it'd be like mtv.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Greg
Video premiere.
Suda51
Apart from the typography, that was also justice without her sword.
Greg
That's you.
Suda51
It's embarrassing as. But that. That is me quoting Oscar Wilde beginning of every chapter,
Greg
Flashing FBI on the. Oh, my God. Suda.
Suda51
Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
So this is your. Your hub area that you come back to.
Greg
Oh, my God.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah. Can you talk about how you landed on this, I guess this segment, right? Like, this pixel art style for the hub area.
Suda51
Can. Can I be real here for a second?
Greg
He says, yeah,
Suda51
actually, the. To be honest, the parts that took place inside the ship, like, you know, the parts are now all, you know, pixel art. They cost something, like, all together, like, Something like, I guess around $3 million.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh, wow.
Suda51
Maybe 2, 3 million. And we were like, yeah, no,
Greg
we're good on that. We're not doing that.
Suda51
We have the rest of a game to make and, you know, we, like, you know, feeding our kids and stuff. So we talked to a guy named Hattori of. Of Hattori Graphics, who's really good at this kind of pixel stuff, and he. He basically got the whole thing done for us for, like. For about like a tenth of how much of it cost. And it came out like it. So it was. It was perfect. It looks cool. We were able to save time and money, and my kids can still go to school and wear.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
And this is kind of an upgrade menu, right?
Greg
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
So you press R2. It'll accelerate you.
Greg
Yeah, so.
Suda51
Go that way. So That's a waste.
Greg
So I'm trying to match up the amount. The same thing.
Suda51
Well, you kind of, you're a tough guy.
Greg
You play what you want to do. Level my man to the.
Suda51
You, you grab this. The power of different. That's what basically what he's saying.
Greg
Oh yeah, it's real easy, huh?
Suda51
Go this way and go this way.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
You want, you want to max. Yeah. Correct me if I'm wrong. Right? But if like going over, going over a sword upgrade my like sword.
Greg
Nice, Nice.
Suda51
There we go. Okay, I'm just gonna.
Greg
Okay, there we go.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
And we come out of it. That's what your stats are. Okay, you can like after this, if I keep playing, I can come back and like rewind and redo it, right?
Suda51
Yeah. When you, when you build up enough power to do it. Okay. Yeah, looks like you can do it again. Oh. Or nothing.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Oh yeah, no, I can like go back and like. Yeah, I just hit restart.
Suda51
Okay, sorry. He said if you go back to the place with the exclamation mark.
Greg
Yeah, yeah.
Suda51
Then you'll go on the next. There's like a new, a new thing you can do. That's Romeo's mom. Definitely not ripped off from a relatively well known comedic actress.
Greg
But you can't sue. It's not that close.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Katsu Curry, can you tell us a bit about the amount of things that you can do in this spaceship area?
Suda51
Well, there's, there's lots of stuff you can do here. One of them is what you're doing exactly right now. You go to, you go to his mom and she makes curry for you. This is actually pretty hard, so don't feel. But the mom makes curry for you. And depending on how well the curry is fried, once you put it and stuff, it acts as, it acts as different kinds of buffs for Nice.
Greg
Okay.
Suda51
And this is Romeo's little sister, Luna. And this is where you can do the, the crafting stuff. Harvesting zombies. Well, technically bastard harvesting.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah.
Greg
Okay, fine.
Suda51
When you take out a zombie, one of the, the rotters, the bad guys, sometimes they'll drop like a seed and you can pick those seeds up and bring them to Luna and she can like check them out and tell you, you know, how rare they are, how good they are. And yeah, you use them to plant the bastards. Oh, you've got one more too. You're using the. Plant the bastards here and then come back later.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
I think the tutorial, it's only one at a time.
Greg
What the hell
Suda51
Works out.
Greg
Yeah, there we go. Yeah.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Now you can bust that out when you're in combat. Oh you also name it here particular about tools.
Suda51
Jeffrey grew up well. Yeah, that's also. That also varies from. From bastard to bastard too. It says grew up well or has bad manners or just all kinds of random ass descriptions.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Awesome. Well, I just wanted to hop in into this area and for a little bit because I as soon as I got to the this hub area in my playthrough, I was like, oh, this is awesome. Like I absolutely adore how you guys went about all this, but I think we're out of time there, you know. So thank you guys so much for joining us once again for this episode of Gamescast plays. Again. If you're watching, if you're listening, what. What should people know about Romeo as a dead man? Why should people buy the game just February 11th coming out.
Greg
Odds on there.
Suda51
I'll do mother Tosagoni hi. Toria is. He says, well, for all the fans out there, if you guys really care about Grasshopper and video games in general, if you buy this game, since we're self publishing it, we'll make a shitload of money off it. So please make sure you buy as many copies as you can. And if you're, if you're a fan of Kind of Funny, then you're definitely going to like this game and say so. If not, then I believe dude said that they were offering. Nope, we complete.
Greg
Dude didn't say with this. Nope, nope, nope.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
It'll be out of Greg's pocket.
Greg
No, I didn't say that.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Making it happen.
Suda51
We're going back to Japan tomorrow, try to sue us. Remember, think of it this way. If you buy the PS5 version and then you buy the Xbox version and then you buy the Steam version, you can have three versions of the game. Like what? You know you can't beat that deal, right?
Greg
A lot of people in the chat were calling for that fourth version, the Switch version. That could be your fourth one. Yeah. When you get back to Japan, hit the port button, have it ready for February 11th. It'll be great.
Suda51
But honestly though, we are, we are trying, we're doing what we can.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Sure.
Suda51
To get the Switch 2 version out there, get the package version out there and everything. We can't promise any dates or timelines or anything yet, but we really are doing what we can to get this done. So. Hell yeah, please wait for it. Please wait for the, you know, wait for the Switch and possible other versions, but at the same time, absolutely don't wait and buy it. Right away. We need the money.
Greg
Ps 5.
Suda51
I'm gonna, I'm gonna try to localize this, I guess, because it's, it's gonna make it sound like the game is buggy, as it's not. But one reason that we'd like you all to buy multiple versions is to help us give you the best gaming experience possible, because each version has its own different bugs. Sometimes, like the PS5 version has its own bugs. The Xbox versions have their bugs. The Steam versions have their bugs. Few and far between. Almost no bugs. Totally not a buggy game at all.
Greg
Sure.
Suda51
But if. Yeah, the more, the more people we get playing, the more versions, the more bug reports we can get and the more we can fix those bugs. So again, try to buy as many
Greg
versions as you can, help everybody out,
Suda51
report the shit out of those bugs. You might even want to buy the same version like two or three times, unless you want to clear it. Like.
Greg
That's a great point. I like that.
Suda51
He says, just, just to make this clear, we, we. We did properly debug the game. We paid, we paid good money to have the game debug.
Greg
Walk back to your own show. Walk back. But VGC's already writing the article right now.
Suda51
But I mean, you know, bugs happen.
Greg
Yeah.
Suda51
Also, he's had a whole half beer and so he said he's getting kind of.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
He can't be held liable for what happened here.
Suda51
I remember being 11 years old too.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Again, Suda51, thank you so much for joining me, James. Also, thank you so much for joining us as well and helping us translate.
Suda51
Thanks for having us, man.
Greg
Thanks so much.
Blessing Addie OA Jr.
Yeah. So of course this has been gamescast plays where each and every week we get together and play the new and upcoming games that are out or after this. We had kind of funny podcast with a very special guest. So you want to tune into that until next time. It's been our pleasure to serve you.

Suda’s Cameos:
Romeo is a Dead Man stands as a wild, ambitious Suda51 title, featuring stylistic excess, experimental mechanics, and meta-humor, all discussed in-depth with its creator. From the game’s love-lorn bloodbath of a story to its quick, crunchy action and varied art, the episode celebrates creativity and industry struggle, all wrapped in classic Grasshopper weirdness.
