I'm your host, Tim Gettys, and I'm joined today by the master of the grid, Snow bike Mike.
Snowbike Mike
Tim. I'm the. I'm the grid master. Tim, you're done with the grid forever.
Tim Gettys
How does that feel?
Snowbike Mike
It hurts a little bit. You know, like when you master the grid and you start teleporting people to different sides to then add on to their abilities. Right. Like, let me tell you what, Tim. Okay, you put that double cast on my girl Lulu, or oh, snap, you bring Yuna over there to get the double cast too. Watch out. But the double cast only works for dark spells, so that was pretty messed up because my girl, she'd be healing a lot until.
Tim Gettys
Oh, yeah. Until we got. You got to use zombie all the time for that Jack stuff, right?
Snowbike Mike
Gosh. Zombie. Holy. Right? Is that the final one that we needed? Holy. Holy.
Tim Gettys
Was holy.
Snowbike Mike
Dominant, Tim. And so I mastered the grid. I was exploring the grid. I got lost on the grid. There was moments where I was like, I'm adding up numbers, and I'm like, okay, Lulu needs six more levels to get double cast, which then would put her here. But then I need her up here. Okay, Yuna needs to come over to here, but she's behind, and I need her desperately to get holy before I go to there. And then I'm adding it all up and I'm like, I need 20 levels, but I'm at the end of the game, I'm not going to grind, right? Because, like, I'm dominating. And so I'm having this back and forth and I'm like, oh, snap, I'm going to grind. Then I played five hours of side content, so I did grind. I'm all over the place.
Tim Gettys
You had the full Final Fantasy 10 experience. I love that because for me, it did hit that point when we. We got to on top of sin at the end of the game, right? And I was severely Underleveled. And I had to go back after that. I was so frustrated. Dying, dying, dying. Having to watch that cut scene. It was, you know, great music, all that, but frustrating after a certain point. And I was like, you know what? I'm gonna go back out, get as many of the legendary weapons as I can, grind as much as I possibly can. And I remember for hours grinding on top of. Of sin. And what's so funny, Mike, is I remember I was playing this is Back in the Day on a CRT tv, all right? Like, there was no widescreen in sight at this point. And I'm playing, like, three feet away from my TV because the PS2 chord wasn't that long. And I remember thinking, like, man, I am just doing the most mindless. I'm just cycling at my. Getting the experience. Gotta get it over and over, hoping for one of the damn. What. What were those? The big guys, The. The piranha plants, the.
Snowbike Mike
Oh, yeah, I think those are the Marlboros.
Tim Gettys
Big, big dudes on top of sin there that gave the most experience. I remember hoping to get them. And then every time you do, because it's random. Random encounters. I remember thinking, I wish I could just do this portably. Can you imagine Final Fantasy 10 in the palm of your hands? And here we are in 2025. That shit'll run on a toaster, let.
Snowbike Mike
Me tell you what is everywhere. You can do that. Crazy, man. Well, Behemoth.
Tim Gettys
Thank you so much, Andy Sorrow. That is what it was like.
Snowbike Mike
Everyone has said, tim, you look fantastic today. Your sweatshirt is very nice. I know that you got that out of country. I did.
Tim Gettys
I bought it in Vancouver. Yes, up in Canada. Out of Lululemon. Not a Vancouver spot. I don't know where Lululemon's from, but, you know. Yeah, no, I'm sure. Funny thing is, by the way, only bought it because my friends were there and they're all buying. They're big Lululemon guys. They were buying stuff and I saw them. Oh, I like the color. I like the. The kind of cut of it because if you notice it, like, has these, like, little arm lines on it. I don't know, like, the vibes of it.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
I was like, it. I'll get it. And they were all like, dude, it's cheaper here because it's Canada. Like, all the costs are different and, like, the. The way tax works and all this stuff. And I was like, all right, cool. And it turns out, no. Didn't help at all.
Snowbike Mike
I don't think so.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. Yeah. When I finally got there, see, I'm just like you morons. Like nothing was changed. I spent way too much on this. But it was worth it for all the compliments.
Snowbike Mike
Hey, you got a lot of compliments. Your hair looks nice today.
Tim Gettys
Thank you.
Snowbike Mike
You look nice today. We're back together. Nick is back in the office. Yeah, I miss Nick a lot. You know what I mean? So I'm happy that the whole crew is back. Greg's back after his fantastic little trip to Chicago. Yeah, great meet and greets as well. And Tim, you know we're going to talk about Final Fantasy 10.
Tim Gettys
Yes, we are.
Snowbike Mike
And I'm going to give you my all audience out there and I'm going to need you to help me, you know, help me explain some of the lore, maybe remind me some of the moments. But Tim, unfortunately, I've moved on. Okay? There's a new blonde man in my life and his name is Dante.
Tim Gettys
Dante.
Snowbike Mike
And he's the coolest dude I've ever met. Okay, Tim, if you rewind the clock, 2004, 2005, whatever the era is. If you gave me Final Fantasy 10 in the Devil May Cry 3, Dante's Awakening, I'd be a different man. Okay? I would be a different Jabroni. I probably would be you.
Tim Gettys
Tim, this is crazy. I. I can't believe that you. Living my best life in 2025. Like, what. What is it that's making you you? Is it Chris Anka? He's a good influence.
Snowbike Mike
Chris Anka is a great influence. Steam sales are a great influence. That's what's happening. I took a chance on Final Fantasy 10 because it was on sale for $9. Then I kick on Steam this week. They're having a sale to go to go hand inand with the anime, of course. So you get the whole franchise for like 20 bucks. So I'm like, all right, well, I'll buy that. Knowing that I've never played them. I'm bad at it. Like, let's see what happens. And I kicked it on last night and wow. Devil May Cry three is a banger.
Tim Gettys
Yes, it is. Yes, it is. And a lot of people are going to be like, oh, why'd you start with three, Mike? You got to start. And like, the thing is, you got to know, Mike, three is the one that is, I think, the earliest. That's the most playable today.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
1. I love the setting the most. I think that the. The story of it is very interesting and intriguing, but the sheer fun of Dante and three, it being a Prequel. I'm usually a really sort of guy through and through, but for Snowbike Mike, starting with three is absolutely the right call. And that opening shot.
Snowbike Mike
Whoa. Wow. He's holding on to the pizza. He's. He's fighting demons. He's got the scary guy coming in. Great stuff.
Tim Gettys
It's great stuff. But we're not talking about DMC3 today. That's a different day. Mike.
Snowbike Mike
We also got to talk about that. Don't tell me Half Life 2 disappointed me. We'll talk about that.
Tim Gettys
Really?
Snowbike Mike
Time. Yeah, maybe it was the time away. It was the non stop. It was. You know what it really was, Tim? It was the non stop action. Half Life 2 has an incredible opening. It goes from 0 to 100 real quick. They add in some really cool stuff with the. The grav gun. They add vehicles. Raven Home is awesome. Don't get me wrong. I love that little horror scene of it all. But after that it's just like non stop cranked up to 11 and I just needed it to slow down at some times and just have me and Gordon Freeman kind of explore the world, see some things. So I didn't love it. But the ending, I was like, oh snap, I'm back. They got me with the ending. I'm back. I'm back.
Tim Gettys
Hell yeah.
Snowbike Mike
So a lot of games talk about.
Tim Gettys
Again, only one game we're talking about today and That's Final Fantasy 10. This is our second part of Snow Bike Mike's review of Final Fantasy 10 in 2025. It's time to get into it. The topic of the show.
Snowbike Mike
Tim, let's pick up where we left off because here I was talking about how much I loved this game. I talked about some of the things I didn't love. You know, not being able to skip cutcenes is tough. You know, some outrageous camera angles, uncertain characters. Some outrageous camera angles that I'll never forget now. You know what I mean? Sometimes maybe Temple being a little too wacky. Hot Donna got a lot of them.
Tim Gettys
She got angles.
Snowbike Mike
Lulu got a lot of them.
Tim Gettys
Dude, Lulu's little. Her, like what is the rest motion.
Snowbike Mike
Where she's just kind of like, we.
Tim Gettys
Don'T need all of that.
Snowbike Mike
We finish every single fight with Lulu and she's just giving you a little bit of a bump on that. You're like, all right. But like, really what it came down to is I fell in love with this game. And through and through as I talk about it, I am still in love with this game. I finished the game. It, it hit me emotionally, I didn't think it would. It, it changed something inside of me, Tim.
Tim Gettys
And that makes me so happy to hear because, you know, I, I, I love the things I love wholeheartedly with, with every ounce of my being. And people often are like, oh Tim, Tim's so hyperbolic. Or Tim says like everything's the best thing of all time or whatever. And it's just like when I love something that much, hey man, everything could be the best thing of all time if it's that good.
Snowbike Mike
You know, I feel like me and.
Tim Gettys
You relate on that. And I knew that this end was going to wreck you and it did. And being able to see that was so special to me. Like I, I, I highly recommend all of you watch the vods of Mike's journey because like seeing him experience this stuff has been amazing. But the last hour of this game, watching you, you play through, realizing all the big reveals and what you. You're being asked to do, you know, and having to deal with it all, it was powerful stuff. Powerful stuff.
Snowbike Mike
It's funny, Tim, because we're going to pick up where we left off. And here I was thinking I knew it all. Of course, we stopped a wedding last time on the last episode, we talked about and Yuna said, no, no, Seymour, I'm not doing that. And took a jump, a leap of faith. And I thought to myself, there's no way we can climb much higher than that. I know the sacrifice now. I know that she's gonna have to give up herself for that final aeon. Tim. I'm so wrong. Because it was a lot more game left, and there was a lot more twists and turns that I wasn't ready for. So let's pick up where I left you. Because we were in bevelle and we did stop a wedding. And then after that, we went down to go check on Yuna because she made the giant jump, which leads us into the bevel temple, which is the big one. Moving walkway of hell.
Tim Gettys
God, I remember hating this.
Snowbike Mike
Tim. I again, I will circle back. If you were 12 years old playing this game back in 2000, whatever. I cannot believe that you solved these puzzles. Got the destruction skills. Because it is nuts, is n to get on the moving walkway. Watch the green arrows go right, left, center, forward. And you're panicking, trying to get them. Then you're going down a level, up a level, you fall off a level. Then they bring you back up to the beginning. You are so lost.
Tim Gettys
Yep.
Snowbike Mike
In this. And I had to bring up someone's YouTube video and watch them and go step for step with them. Because that was difficult. Tim.
Tim Gettys
Andy Sorrow says us kids had the prima official players guide you gotta have. And if y'all don't know about them, players guides, man. Dude. The Final Fantasy 10 1. I still own it to this day. It's one of the few ones I kept with me. It's like that thick. It's like a freaking bible of a book.
Snowbike Mike
And so we complete that temple, Tim. I'm happy to say that I navigated it. I went up, left, right, center, all the places. And of course, we got the reveal of Yuna speaking with the little ghost child. As I talked about before, I said, who's this little ghost child? Why is he following me around? What's his deal? And we found out that he speaks. And he was telling you into the details of what these aons really are, right? And I thought, oh, snap. I didn't know what was going on. I didn't know that they were giving themselves up to become these incredible aeons. And that's where we get the goat. I like to call him Baja Moots, but I know that's incorrect, but. Baja. Yeah, he's the guy. He's the guy. Whoa. Unlock the dragon, man. Yeah. And so that was a big moment of, like, these human souls being imprisoned by, I think, Yevon rituals, right? And, like, crazy stuff there. When now you're starting to piece together different things, like, what's happening here. I'm not getting it. But I got this cool dragon, so who cares? Yeah. And then, of course, Seymour comes right afterwards, and he's like, you're going to jail, homie. I'm taking over. And, Tim, that's when you get the mega reveal. We go to trial, okay? We have a Master Ronzo, we have Master Micah, we have Seymour, and we learn about Spira, the spiral. Okay, Tim. And what a reveal of. I already have been to the Farplanes. I know that something's up with my main man, Arin, right? Like, I'm. I'm looking at him, he's looking at me, and I'm like, why won't you go in there? Why are you screaming past that guy? You know what I mean? So, like, what's your deal? And sure enough, we get the ultimate reveal. That a lot of people in Spira, they're unpassed and they're running things, and they want them to stay the same. They want to stay in the spiral. Yeah, okay. The spiral of destruction. Sin keeps in, sin takes. We want sin to continue to come and take. And we're just fine with that because we got the power. And right now, your mind is exploding. You're taking on so much. Like, what do you mean that guy's unpassed? What do you mean? Everybody out here is ruling this. And Seymour, he's smiling, going, yeah, I love all this. I want sin. I want this. And then the Ronzo's like, hold up a second. You're like, okay, well, help me. And he's like, I gotta go. I'm leaving. And the Master Ronzo just leaves. He's like, you know what? This isn't my stuff. I'm out of here. And I was like, okay, you don't want to save us? We got thrown into jail. Okay, I love.
Tim Gettys
I love this so much, Mike, because, like, I. Bits of what you're saying I'm like, oh, yeah, I remember that clearly. The Master Ronzo don't remember that at all.
Snowbike Mike
The Master Ronzo was not happy learning that Maester Micah was unpassed and ruling the thing. And he was like, I gotta go. I gotta work some stuff out within me right now. And so we got to jail. This is when you get the split. You have your swimming team, and then you got Yuna and her squad, right? And so some wild stuff will happen there where a giant dragon chases us. If you remember, we fought a dragon up on top, and then that dragon somehow got sent into the depths of the water, chased me into these different chambers. Now I'm supposed to, like, stop and find chests inside of this chase sequence, but I just ran for my life. And because it's undead, you heal, it dies.
Tim Gettys
The best thing ever, right?
Snowbike Mike
That is a cool mechanic.
Tim Gettys
So freaking cool, dude. Casting zombie on someone and then casting a heel on them to damage them. That's how it works, right?
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
That sick.
Snowbike Mike
Or you get zombie cast on you and then they heal you.
Tim Gettys
Boom.
Snowbike Mike
Take damage.
Tim Gettys
It's brilliant, dude.
Snowbike Mike
It's.
Tim Gettys
It's such a cool, cool thing. And also some. I said this last time, but, like, now that you're done with the game, I'm sure you've had to have a lot more challenging fights. The necessity to use slow on enemies and use haste on yourself to change the turn order. Like, there was some strategy. I remember being a kid being like, oh, man, I thought I was good at Pokemon. Then you play this stuff and you're like, I'm playing 40 chess, man. No one's smarter than me.
Snowbike Mike
That turn chart will go down as one of my favorite gameplay mechanics of looking up at the top, right? Knowing who's up next, how I can affect it with certain moves. How do I need to make sure that I'm on this turn chart more than you are? How do I need to make sure that we do X, Y, and Z before you even get a turn? Because trust me.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
There's a man who I'm gonna meet later on in this playthrough. And it's all about getting your turns in before.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Because he's going to dominate you, Daddy. I'm sorry. And so we make it out of the jail cell, and of course, what happens? Seymour rolls up, and Seymour now is taking control of Bevel. He's like, I'm running this thing. It's going down. And we start running. But you know what happens? Kamari says, no, no, we fight right now, one on One. And everybody's running, and Kamari stays. And we look back and we're like, we're not leaving our dude. I get chills thinking about that, because we're like, we're not leaving our Guardian of Guardians.
Tim Gettys
You know what I mean? Like, he's unusual, Right hand Man.
Snowbike Mike
Why is he missing that horn? Tim, we're going to learn out here in just a little bit, man. And so we go back, okay? We go back to fight Seymour once again. And it's not the same Seymour anymore, ladies and gentlemen. This guy has turned into the ultimate death monster and has a scary scorpion as a shield that is healing him while he takes damage. So he's in this endless cycle of I'm just healing myself, and you got to overcome that stuff. But I got Baja Moot, okay? I call people, come forth Baja. And this man blasts Seymour. I mean, you couldn't heal enough when I was damaging you.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Awesome moment.
Tim Gettys
Definitely. Definitely.
Snowbike Mike
Oh, my God. Have you seen. Have you seen his character design lately? Do you think about that? Because it's crazy how Seymour evolves.
Tim Gettys
Oh, yeah. Oh, he somehow gets deeper. You know what I mean? But, yeah, this is classic Final Fantasy bad guy stuff. This is. This is very much. All right. We had Sephiroth, and he. He had his kind of permutations through the game.
Snowbike Mike
Yes.
Tim Gettys
What are we going to do for our boy Seymour?
Snowbike Mike
How do we make Seymour even cooler? From the chest tattoos, the wicked blue hair, the deepest of deep V's, the ultimate washboard abs. How do we make him cooler? Oh, we just make sure that man is the ultimate Aon. And he becomes that. And then, Tim, we get to the scene, we break out of jail, we leave Bevel. And this is where we stop at a lake. Or I like to call. It's probably a pond, but we're going to call it a lake.
Tim Gettys
Nothing. It's Lake at Lake Makalania. Right? Am I right?
Snowbike Mike
Well, it just looks. It just looks small, so I called upon, but it's. It's definitely a lake. And we have our moment, Tim, where Yuna and Titus really come together. They get on the same page. They share the same feelings of, you know, the rose tinted glasses of what it looks like. Where will we go? Do I have the strength to do this? And the line is said, Tim. And the only line that matters, and I'll always love it. Stay with me until the end, please. Not until the end.
Tim Gettys
Always, dude. That's what love is, baby. That is what love is all about.
Snowbike Mike
These two fell in love. They took the time they got on the same page, they started talking. He understood the sacrifice that she was going to make. She was scared, but she knew she had to do it for all of Spira, everyone involved. She had to go do it for. And he was like, I'm right there with you. We're gonna find a way, right? And Ricky Riku is gonna really. She's gonna scream. How do we not do this right? Because I don't want this to happen.
Tim Gettys
My cousin.
Snowbike Mike
We all know that we don't want her to sacrifice, but we know a sacrifice at this moment has to be made. And everybody's kind of somber about it, but we have this beautiful love scene with these two come together underwater.
Tim Gettys
They're underwater. Make it out. Has anything ever been hotter? I don't think so. Barrett, when you get a chance, I just sent Assets 2 pictures. If you bring up the. The blue one first. This is one of my favorite video game moments of all time.
Snowbike Mike
Oh, Tim. When they switch the graphics up on you and you go to this CG cutscenes, this game steals the moment every single time. It's unbelievable.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. This is Oreoto artwork. Orioto did all of our games cast art for many, many years. But in my. My theater at home, I have five pieces of art up that represent some of my favorite games. I have Super Mario World, Prince of Persia, Sands of Time, metal gear Solid 2, Smash Brothers, and then I have this from Final Fantasy 2. And it's just like such a. Such a beautiful moment. He also has an amazing Yuna Summoner dance one, too, if you can bring that up there. It's the second one. I don't have this up anywhere because it doesn't fit the color scheme. But maybe. Maybe for you, Mike, maybe you need to get this for. It's the background of your stream.
Snowbike Mike
Look at this, Tim.
Tim Gettys
Beautiful, beautiful stuff.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
This moment, man, it so it hit for you.
Snowbike Mike
Oh, Tim, I didn't get to watch your reaction. No. Yeah, this one. This one isn't like a tear jerker. This is one of those of like. Oh, it's real, right? Like, the love is real. We've watched this since day one, right? When Waka brought Titus up to the top of the mountain peak with the. On the village over back at the island, and she licked eyes with them, it was like, oh, yeah, these two have some. There's a little spark here.
Tim Gettys
Oh, yeah.
Snowbike Mike
And that spark right there became a flame straight up. Dude became a smoldering.
Tim Gettys
I mean, him being this blitzball guy that could breathe underwater and her being this like top tier religious summoner. And like, man, dude, it's the classic, you know, it's the. The studious girl and the jock boy finding love together. Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
And so it was a special moment because we're at a somber place right now of Seymour has taken Bevel, the capital of Spira. Right. We are down on our luck. But we know one thing. We have one guiding light. And that's taking us north because we must get to Mount Gagazette and go to Zanarkand.
Tim Gettys
So you don't even have the airship yet?
Snowbike Mike
We have the airship, yes. Okay. Okay. Before the wedding you get the airship. But after this you are on foot here because you arrive at what, Tim? One place you will never forget in your life. The common. And of course, my dude, every video game deer from soft software. You should have this guy. The old man who tells all the tales about the lore is everywhere in this video game. And he's the best to just sit there and say, yes sir, tell me. And he tells you about the commands and how this area is the battle stage for the final battle. Whenever someone would take on sin with the final aeon, this is where it would go down. And you're like, oh, that's crazy. We're on sacred ground right now. This is going to be a special spot. And I was thinking to us, I was like, be prepared, Mike. This is where the final battle will be. The calm lands is where it's gonna be.
Tim Gettys
Where it's going down. The end of the game is here.
Snowbike Mike
And the final battle was here. Tim. For many of you, if you don't know the final battle is that damn lady on the chocobo who teaches you how to ride chocobos. Because that lady choke. That lady will change your life. Tim.
Tim Gettys
Dude, don't you need to. If I remember correctly, for Titus, his weapon, you need to beat the race and have your time be 000.
Snowbike Mike
Correct. And Tim, let me tell you about that race. Because of course I did, Tim. I battled. I almost thanked you to say this is the hardest part of the video game.
Tim Gettys
I'm so proud of you.
Snowbike Mike
This game. This lady should be in every final fantasy moving forward. And if those seagulls aren't in the chocobo races, then you're not playing a real game. Because this is difficult. It's frustrating. It's ridiculous because it all hinges on the balloons. So how you start, of course is she wants to teach you how to ride a chocobo. Will be your first time. Really kind of Riding a chocobo. Since the beginning of the game, you've kind of gone away from the choke. Well, technically, all the chocobos almost went extinct when seeing wiped out the entire chocobo. So I did forget about that, just so you know. And so it's your first time riding a choke bowl in quite some time. She says, hey, I'll let you ride my chocobo, but you have to complete the trainings. And so the first one is like, run forward, dodge these balls. And you're kind of running back and forth in this, like, grid, like, area. Then the ending is like, you have to race me. And it's going to be pure luck because the balloons will take time off of your time. And if you get hit by a seagull, it will add time and stop you. And the balloons, every single race are put in different spots. So sometimes she'll beat you to the first six balloons, which means you're now down, like, 20 seconds to her. And then the balloons will then go into this insane open field where seagulls will come three to six at a time. And they are almost impossible to dodge. It is an insane idea to try to dodge with the D pad. The chocobo will rip you whichever way it wants. And then, of course, of course, the course, it's PS2. So there's a bunch of invisible walls, and the course isn't quite laid out right, where you're like, I should be able to get this balloon. But the chocobo says, no, that's an invisible wall. It goes the wrong way. So you're just frustrated as all hell, but everybody in the chat's like, you gotta get ultimate weapon and you have to commit to greatness. And I'm like, fine, I'll commit to greatness. And I battled this lady. It took me about 20, 20 tries, and I finally did it.
Tim Gettys
So, again, this has been. It's been 20 years since I played through this game. Oh, man, look at this, Tim. Dude. The seagulls, though, like you mentioned, I forgot about those guys. But where.
Snowbike Mike
Where the seagulls are gonna come right now. Get ready. Here they come. And so you drop that, dude.
Tim Gettys
Oh, my God. And so she's giving me ptsd. Looking at.
Snowbike Mike
This is the hardest mini game in a video game that I've ever played because these damn seagulls are absolutely insane. There's a point here at that turn that you just saw, if you're watching on YouTube, where the seagulls come at you from a blind angle because they're coming from up above. So you have no idea what's happening. And yeah, then you get into this. You're not dodging any of those seagulls. It's the. It's the final little circle. You can't dodge them.
Tim Gettys
So ridiculous. So I forgot a lot of this. So remind me about where I'm wrong here in the game. Your squad's max HP and max damage is 9,999, right? But then, yes, when you get the ultimate weapon and that unlocks it, then you could do nine. What was it? 999,000.
Snowbike Mike
Tim, take it up. Unlimited. Unlimited. You can limit break. It is right, Tim.
Tim Gettys
Oh, my God. That was the coolest freaking in the world. These damage numbers are like, how is this possible?
Snowbike Mike
You. If you were playing this right, you would get all the weapons for everyone. Because it just changes the game.
Tim Gettys
It does.
Snowbike Mike
And so for me, for everybody out there, we'll tell the story. I got Titus and I got Yuna, which Yuna will be massive for me with Holy. Right? Like Holy. And her doing more than just 9,000 damage is a big shift there. If I didn't have that, I probably might. I would have had a lot more trouble with this video game. And so I worked my ass off to get both of them. Of course, in the commands, it's this beautiful giant piece of earth that is just empty and barren. And so once you unlock the Chocobo, you can ride around. And so underneath, there's a little hidden spot. Up above, there's a hidden spot, and then there's a cave where you go and see a man who turns this video game into Pokemon. Gotta catch them all. Because he's like, I'm opening. I'm opening up an arena, and I want you to catch one of every Pokemon, AKA monsters. And if you go above and beyond for me, you catch 10 of every single one.
Tim Gettys
So it's Pokemon, but then it also becomes Kingdom Hearts because it's Pokemon of you got to catch them. But then it becomes like the Coliseum in Kingdom Hearts. It's like all the optional bosses. Oh, my God.
Snowbike Mike
So you have to buy weapons from him that aren't your weapons that have the special stats on them. This one just has the capture stat that you, of course, want. And so now you have to plan out who's on the team, who has the weapons, who's putting the final hit on them. And so for me, we went forward and I unlocked a bunch of people in Zanarkand, or Mount Gag, is that you need for the ultimate weapon. But catch is you don't get to unlock that before until you do the commands. So then I had to go back to the com lands, unlock all 10 items there and then put them in there. Insane. Yeah, so much fun. So dumb. But adding more stuff for you to go out and play. Which I really loved because I'll speak to it. Now the next part after the commands is a decision. You can go down into the gorge and you're gonna find an extra secret aeon and a good story beat or you can head up to Mount Gagazette.
Tim Gettys

Snowbike Mike
So Tim, as I said, you leave the calm lands and you have a choice. You can go down into this gorge or you can go make your climb to Mount Gagazette and onward to Zanarkin.
Tim Gettys
So you're telling me that there is a. A hidden Aon down there? Like don't. Don't tell me. Don't tell me what it is yet. Cuz I'm trying to. I'm trying to figure out. It's been a long time and I played many final fantasies since. So the. The icon slash Aon slash just summons whatever you want to call these. I get mixed up in my mind. So In Fall Fantasy 10 we have Valfor is your first one the bird aka the coups. Yeah yeah, Not Phoenix, but like Phoenix. Then we have ifrit. Yep.
Snowbike Mike
AKA Roger.
Tim Gettys
Come to me if reit. Then we have Ixion.
Snowbike Mike
AKA LeBron James the goat.
Tim Gettys
Shiva.
Snowbike Mike
Oh, man. Shinra. Praise me.
Tim Gettys
And then we have. Okay. Bahamut. Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Huh? Bahamut. Shout out.
Tim Gettys
Is that all five? Is that all of them? I think of like the standards.
Snowbike Mike
That's five.
Tim Gettys
And then the bonus ones.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
Anima, which is the like demony tuna or fish looking one.
Snowbike Mike
Chat. Put it in the chat. So I know.
Tim Gettys
Anima.
Snowbike Mike
Anime. Wait, what did I call it?
Tim Gettys
Oh, Andy.
Snowbike Mike
Oh my God. What a story behind that.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, we talked about that one last time.
Snowbike Mike
Talk about that in a second.
Tim Gettys
But we already did. I'm pretty sure.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah, with Seymour's mother.
Tim Gettys
I don't know if we got there.
Snowbike Mike
See, let's just talk about it now. I don't know where we get it because. Yeah, right now what I was going to say is, Tim, I was really lucky during my Final Fantasy 10 playthrough because of course I streamed it. I had the best friend audience from this community come and join me. And I called in my Guardians shout out right there to Krabby Patty.
Tim Gettys
Hell yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Who took me through the grid, Jerry. Who? Like, you know, sometimes you get a thousand messages and like you gotta sometimes hone in on one person where you're like, I'm putting my faith in you.
Tim Gettys
I trust you with the why.
Snowbike Mike
I put a lot of faith in you. And a lot of the guardians. And they were like, mike, just so you know, there's ultimate weapons that you could unlock. And there are special secret aeons, right? There are three secret aeons that you can go unlock that you don't need to have before this. Right? And so you alluded to, of course, Seymour's mother, AKA Anima, which I called Andy. We would. So I would say summon him and we go, Andy. Ma. Andy. Andy. And he would come out and you saw, of course, Anima earlier in the game, thanks to Seymour. And what a monster, right? Like that is the ultimate summon right there. He can wink the eye and murder people. He takes you into the underworld, breaks the chain. And what a cool story of Seymour's mother sacrificing herself to try to give her son a better life because he had lost his father. She didn't think that she was a good enough mother, right? And so she was just trying to give him something because remind you, right? Seymour, two different sides as well, right? He's guado and human, I believe. So he's got two sides to him too. And so she was just trying his best. Trying her best. And the, the hands across the neck of the mummy of her. And then underneath. So cool. Right?
Tim Gettys
Good shit.
Snowbike Mike
And so you can summon oblivion, which is the ultimate move, which takes them into the underworld. They break the chain, the ultimate one, two punch. And then you blow up on the top side. That move saved me so many times. It was so cool. Tim. So you have Andy Ma.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. So there's Andy Ma, then there's the Magus sisters, the three bugs, the Splash.
Snowbike Mike
Sisters, as I call that. Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and of course the distant cousin Boogie Cousins. Those three girls are gonna be coming in a lot because they saved me through this playthrough when they go to praise the triangle on their ultimate move. And we just put whatever monster in the middle with so much damage and then we come out of it. And the coolest part with those ones is you, you can tell them what to do, but you don't tell them what to do. It's like, keep doing what you're doing. Help your friends attack or do whatever you want to do. And so like, it's very cool. The big ladybug will heal, but can do damage. You have the lady in the middle, which will summon the fire talons. As the praying mantis, she'll put a reflect on her teammates. Or the wasp one, which will lightning bolt onto them. Or they'll shoot the little, you know, little butt pellets, which is super fun. And yeah, those three spoilers for the end, which we'll get to because we don't have much time, but I'm going to tell you all the stories is they won the game for me. And so though that summon right there will have always.
Tim Gettys
I love that you got all the summons. So, okay, so then that just leaves Yojimbo. He's the one with Massimoon the big sword, right?
Snowbike Mike
And he's got the. He's got the dog.
Tim Gettys
Oh, my God.
Snowbike Mike
That's right.
Tim Gettys
So he's the one that you get here.
Snowbike Mike
So you go into the gorge and you learn a special life lesson about Lulu, because she's been on a pilgrimage before. Her High Summoner didn't make it all the way. And this is where that High Summoner ended right here.
Tim Gettys
Oh, man, I forgot that.
Snowbike Mike
It was a very cool moment of like, Wait, you're telling me Lulu's already done this? And like they have a moment where they talk to each other, she apologizes and she's like, it's time to move on. And I was like, oh, this is awesome. Yeah. Is this the best game ever made? Can we just have that conversation was so cool. Of, like, the issue is, is the other two? Well, I guess. I guess Andy Ma, AKA Anima, does give you a good story about Seymour. The. The. The Bug sisters. I don't think they have, like, an insane story, but, like, this one was cool. Like, I get that. And I'm like, oh, my God, are you telling me all these secret aeons will have, like, incredible stories about that? Because, like, getting more Lulu lore is crazy Chapu and her. Her trying to move on. Like, what's next for me?
Tim Gettys
Right?
Snowbike Mike
And then, of course, yeah, finding out that she's been on one before. She had a high summoner, and they failed. They died. And it's like, oh, that's crazy stuff right there. And so, yeah, that is in the gorge. Then you go up and so now, Tim, just a quick moment on that Aeon. That Aeon's crazy, okay? Because he does what he wants. And you got to pay him money. You got to pay him Gil. And then the chat's like, you got to pay him by 2, Mike. So it's 1, then 2, 2 into 4, 4 into 8, 8 into 16. And you just got to keep going up by 2. Or you say all that and give him every single dollar you got.
Tim Gettys
No. I wonder what Mike did.
Snowbike Mike
There was a moment in my game where I needed him to get me past somebody, and I. I gave him $126,000. I said, do it. And he busts open that sword, and it's on. Because if not, you get the dog that does a little uppercut. You get him to throw out the little knives, or you get the blade. The blade is so sick. So a fun, wild Aeon to have a very.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Talk about just a wild card. No idea.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah. I don't think anybody would use him much because, like, you don't really understand what's happening. It feels very luck, based on that, to get the sword. I got it twice out of my playthrough, and I used him a couple of times. So I tried my best on that one. So. Oh, Tim, get ready for an epic moment. Because we arrive at the, you know, the summit, but it's not the top of Mount Gagazette. And we are met by the Ronzos. And we finally get the moment. We get the backstory for Kamari because we know that there was two Ronzos way back at Killica Islands who were checking on our Ronzo. They were teasing him. They were uppercutting Him. And he held his ground. He knew better. And sure as we arrived at Mount Gagazette, home of the Ronzos. And they said, holt, we're gonna have a conversation. And Yuna told the high priest there, she's like, we have to do this. And he's like, we don't let many people come by here. We're not letting that. She's like, we have to do this for Spira. We have to stop this right now. We are going to go out and kill Sin. I'm gonna complete the ultimate sacrifice, and we're gonna do this. And they go back and forth and he says, fine, let him through. And that is where Kamari faces his two bullies. And we learn what happened to Kamari, because those two bullies broke his horn back in the day and kicked him off the mountaintop. And that's where he meets Aaron. He also meets Lord Braska. And that's where he gets sent to go find Yuna and be her guardian for chills.
Tim Gettys
Come on, man.
Snowbike Mike
Come on. Crazy storytelling dude.
Tim Gettys
He was my least favorite character in the game. And I think all things considered, he still probably is. But I love that they saved him for the end. You know what I mean? Save all these story reveals. And it's like, oh man, you're making even the guy I don't care about hit hard.
Snowbike Mike
The best story about Kamari is right, Tim? And so you learn so much about him. He goes on the two on one fight against these two. And the coolest part about Kamari is he has that absorb power. So you're always doing the Lancelot absorb power to try to learn new moves. These two Ronzos are teaching you new moves, but they're bullying you. Cuz one will run through you. But it's a one on two fight. Nobody else is involved in this. He's got to stand up for himself. And then you defeat the two of them and it's like, this is so. And then they give him respects. They dap him up. And you're like, oh. And they're like, welcome to Mount Gagazette. The final step before you go to Zanarkand and get the final summon. Go forth. And Tim, once you reach the peak, you learn something horrifying because Seymour arrives one more time. And Seymour lets you know, oh, all the Ronzo's back there killed him.
Tim Gettys
Done. They're done extinct.
Snowbike Mike
I have wiped them out. And we're gonna fight one more time because I cannot let you get to the final summon. I want to be Sin. And you're like, Seymour, you don't gotta be.
Tim Gettys
Chill, bro.
Snowbike Mike
Chill, Seymour, chill. And so you fight him one more time. And that fight is crazy because now he's turned into some sort of crazy floating crab creature. He's got arms. He's got a big floating body. It's crazy how he looks.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
And of course, he's got the heel mechanic again. We got to work the team. I'm battling for my life. Incredible stuff. And then, Tim, just when you thought this story couldn't get any better, we arrive in Zanarkand.
Tim Gettys
Dude. And, like, come on.
Snowbike Mike
And the reveal is insane.
Tim Gettys
How did it hit? Because to you, Zanarkand is this, like, technologically advanced land. Like, this is where the game started, the Blitzball Arena. Like, all this stuff. And then you see the ruins.
Snowbike Mike
The ruins, Tim. And we find out that Zanarkand is just a dream. All of these people have been putting forth the faith to create this dream world. And that's when it's. You start doing this. Oh, my God. What? And you're like, if that's a dream world and my main man Titus has been living in the dream world, does that mean he's a dream? And then all of a sudden, you start to unravel. You go, oh, no. The ultimate sacrifice. Is it. Yeah, it's Titus. What are you talking about? The dream can't be real. And you get this insane sequence of seeing all the bodies on the wall, all pushing towards Zanarkin, but it's in ruins. But in your mind, it was this insane, technically advanced city. You're like, what's happening? It's like, no. Bevelle and Zanarkin went to war a long time ago, and Bevelle used Machina to destroy Zanarkand. And this is what's left. It's just these ruins. And all of us spirits hold together the dream of what is an Arin. And your mind is just going a thousand miles a minute, thinking about what is, what could be. But also, we have to go for the final summon. And so you get the ultimate. You love the title sequence. I know. Tim. Of we have the fireplace, we have the story, all the weapons are there. And we sit there, right? And it's like, oh, my gosh, this is crazy, Tim.
Tim Gettys
It's so powerful. You know, what amazing imagery. One last time of the crew all sitting together. Like, not all of them know what's about to go down, but they know they're going to do it together. Mike.
Snowbike Mike
And then the box changes because now we're in Zanarkand. This beautiful dark sky box with the twinkling lights. We go through all of the different ruins and we arrive at the end and we find out, oh no, the final aeon isn't there. It's gone. And you're like, what do you mean? The whole goal was to get here, to make the sand, to make the sacrifice, to fight the one and only Sin. We have to be done. They're like, no, you're looking for Unalesca. You're like, who the hell's Unalesca? Let me tell you what, Tim. Unalesca is the baddest of baddies. Here I am, I'm. I'm looking up statues to Lulu. I'm about to buy a statue of Lulu. I'm like, do they make Donna statues? Forget all that. I gotta go buy a statue. Yeah, this lady is the baddest. And she looks at us, she's like, you can make the sacrifice right now. You die to me. You defeat me or you die. And you're like, what? And you go into the ultimate fight. With you.
Tim Gettys
There's so many great fights towards the end.
Snowbike Mike
So many great fights. And so, yeah, Unalesca, she tempts us with glory. But we know we got to be better. We got to defeat her. So we defeat Unalesca. And I mean, Tim, there's so much more. Because now we're not done. Now we know we have to go back to Bevelle, where the final fight will be. We're going to use the hymn to summon. And so we get on the ship with our boy Sid. We say, put out the call, tell everybody to start the hymn. And he's like, what do you mean? And it's like, start the hymn. And you hear the hymn build. And you're like, oh my God, bro. We're summoning Sin and we're gonna fight.
Tim Gettys
How crazy is it? The twists.
Snowbike Mike
This is insane. And it's like, okay, Sin has arrived and it's time for the fight, right? And we got Sid flying the jet. We. We can't figure out how to get inside of Sin. But now we're fighting for our life. Chop off both of its arms, the two big fins. Well, we still can't get inside of it. Sid's like, no, we're busting in on that one, right? And so then we bust on top of it. And he's like, we can't do it. I gotta repair the guns. Like we're not prepared. And Tina says one of the all time greatest lines as a blitz baller. If you got the ball, you gotta go forward. And you're like, what? What? What do you mean? So we jump on this thing and we bust through. And now we're inside of sin. And it's like, what do you mean we're inside of sin? Of course, because we learned about who you, Yevin. It's not our dad. Our dad might be sin, but there's somebody pulling the strings. And it's you, Yevon. Because you Yevin wanted this. And you're like, what? How do we keep adding on to this religion? Where did you Yevin come from? And so now we know we got to get after you, Yevon. And so sin inside of sin. Big battles inside of sin, inside of sin will make you, will give you the make or break moment of like, are you ready for this? Because those battles leading up to just fight jacked as your dad are tough as can be. Tough as nails. There's moments where you'll, you'll die. You met that one jabroni. There's one monster who you kill but then self destructs and kills everybody. You're like, well, what's up with that? You're like, that sucks. You know what I mean? And so then you have to restart because the saves, that was crazy. And so make it through there. You fight jacked. And man, oh man, what a issues. Oh my gosh, Tim. We didn't even have the moment of when Titus is on the jet plane and he takes una sphere of her last words that he found and chucks it and goes, you won't need this anymore. And she's like, no. And it's like, oh my God, I forgot about her last words. Words. Hearing those up at Zanarkin and then him throwing that away going, you won't need this because the goal is simple. She's not making that sacrifice. Ricky and Titus will do anything in their power to make sure that doesn't happen, man. And oh gosh, incredible stuff. And so we meet dad. We have a real moment, right, dad? Thanks ain for getting us here. We say, what up, dad? Dad, clearly, you know, dad has tried his best. He wants to be a better man. Okay? He didn't leave us in the right place. Now he's a little bit better and he wants to atone for that. And we get the best line.
Tim Gettys
Yes, we do.
Snowbike Mike
Hey, dad? Yeah. I hate you. And he, you know, you know, it's.
Tim Gettys
That like that line delivery, like has stuck with me since six or seven years old. Like, that is a moment, man. It's so Good.
Snowbike Mike
But you feel it inside. You're like, oh, you, dad. Like, that's tough, man. I love you. It's just two bros trying to say they love each other, but they got some history.
Tim Gettys
Yeah, okay.
Snowbike Mike
And we weren't able to work it out.
Tim Gettys
Well, they weren't, man.
Snowbike Mike
Right? And, like, we learned about how Jecht became, like, got to this world. How him and Auron teamed up with Lord Broska. Like, what an insane story.
Tim Gettys
Great stuff.
Snowbike Mike
Make a game for 20 years. Here's the game. Make the game of those three jabronis getting jacked out of jail, saying, you're coming with me, bro. Bro. And we're going on this journey. Let me see a father grow and become a better dad here. And so he says, just so you know, once this begins, there's no going back. You have to stop me.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
And he takes a step back and a.k.a.
Tim Gettys
Hey, gamer, this is where you're going to need to grind. There's no going back after this.
Snowbike Mike
Check yourself because you're about to grind here. And he takes the step off just like Yuna. And he. Tina's like, no. And it's like, oh, shit, what happens? And somehow the soundtrack to this game has been phenomenal. It has been some of the best music in video games I've ever heard. Some of the best music in general around. And they say all that. We're gonna give you face melting metal.
Tim Gettys
Metal, baby.
Snowbike Mike
We are going to rip this off right now. And he comes out, he's this giant monster. Looks like almost the genie from Aladdin, right? He's like the evil genie. And you start to fight. And he is doing everything in his power. He's got two totems behind him that are spinning that will heal him. He has a big sword swipe that'll stop you. He's putting you into stone and petrifying you. He's doing everything to slow you down. And you really, at this moment, you have to look at yourself and say, have I grinded enough? Do I have the right weapons? Do I have a plan? And I got my butt whooped the first night. I got slapped around. And I was like, what do I gotta do? And me and the guardians out there, we knew that I could get to Phase two. But the question is, is what do we need? And so we broke it down. We said, I need Yuna, I need Titus, I need Arn. Each one of these people are going to do a very special task on this, right? Yuna is going to start off. She's going to put the Bubble protection on all of us. Titus is then going to put haste on everybody, and he's also gonna, you know, give a little cheer. Okay? Then Yuna's gonna go to Holy Damage. She's gonna be the damaged person. Titus, guess what, big dog? You're just gonna heal. That girl can't go down. I need you to heal, Aaron. I need you to perform all the breaks, okay? Metal break, mental break, power break, armor break. I don't care what break it is. Restroom break. Break him. Okay. Break them off.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Okay. And so we said, don't use a summon in phase one. Get to phase two. You can do it. And so I got reflect, I got protection on, I got haste on. We're in this motion of I hit him, he hits me, I do a heel, we go in the cycle, which is where you want to be, right? I'm in the eye of the storm, and I get to phase two. And this is where things can get real tricky here if you're not prepared. Because if he does the ultimate ject bomb on you, where he's the giant blitzball, summons a ball and drops it on you, and that does even more damage, it's over. So what do I do? I call upon the splash sisters. Okay. The bug twins. I call in the threesome, and they come in. They put them in the triangle, right? And my first attempt, Tim, I swear to God. We come out of the triangle. We're up right now. I'm like, yes. This is gonna be my win. What happens? Ladybug0MP. Which means she just takes a break. All fight long. Wiped, rinse and repeat, throw it all the way back. I give back to the girls. We do the ultimate. She's got 200 MP. Everybody's got MP. And I'm like, let's pop off. She's doing damage. She's doing damage. The Hornet girls doing damage. We're sharing damage. We're healing each other. Hey, if somebody goes down, we got a revive, which is super cool, right? Those girls mop the floor with Daddy Jack. It was awesome, Tim. And it's like, what a moment. And there you are thinking, I've. I've done it. I've climbed the mountaintop. And they're like, oh, you thought this was done. It's you yevin time.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
And what is you yevin?
Tim Gettys
Oh, man. Nothing like you could ever expect.
Snowbike Mike
You couldn't expect. You think what you come off of object and Seymour and the world, you're like, what could you yevin be? No, you yevin's Just this weird floating scarab thing. But he's summoning your other summons, and you have to call forth your aeons one by one and say, you got to set him free, Tim.
Tim Gettys
Oh, my God. What a brutal end to this story.
Snowbike Mike
Tim.
Tim Gettys
The whole concept of sacrifice, where the whole time you know what you're doing. We have to sacrifice Yuna. And here it is. Nope, we're going to flip that. But on top of that, we're still going to make you kill all your homies.
Snowbike Mike
You summon them one by one. And so now I'm going down the list. I bring out coups. I say coos. Thank you so much. I didn't use you at all, but I love you. Okay, I. I bring out Lego. I say legoat. You had a couple of moments. You're the goat. I love you. Shinra didn't really mess with you enough. I should have. You're the baddie. You're out there, right? I call forth everybody. And then who do I call forth at the end? Roger. Because Roger, AKA Ifrit, got me through so many battles and won battles that he should not have won. And this is when it's setting intel.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Like, at first, you. Like, I don't understand. But when you call four, six of them, and they go, you start to feel it. And there I was. I was attached to Roger. I was like, I don't want to let Roger go.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
It's like you have to set free the spirits. It's time to say goodbye. And so you start to say goodbye to each and every one of them. You defeat you, Yavin Tim. And we have defeated sin. But at what price, Tim? And so now we stand there.
Tim Gettys
Oh, my God.
Snowbike Mike
And everyone sees it. Sin is destroyed. Spira is saved. It's this beautiful moment of everybody looks up and you get callbacks. There's the captain of the Chocobo army, right? You get the callbacks to Bevel. Everybody sees it. Shout out to that one, Shalinda. Shalinda is now running bevel. I don't know if you remember, but Master Micah dies. Seymour leaves. And we. We see a moment of, like, Shalinda's, like, everybody's in disarray. I guess I'm just like, hell, yeah, you're leading every now. Good for you. And so everybody has this moment. And there he goes. Aaron starts to fade. He starts to pass.
Tim Gettys
He starts turning in.
Snowbike Mike
Because it's time for the dream to be done, right? We cannot be dreaming anymore. And Aaron starts to go.
Tim Gettys
Song kicks in. Badass as God, man. This. This is a amazing kickoff to one of my favorite video games.
Snowbike Mike
Real Tim.
Tim Gettys
Look at this.
Snowbike Mike
And there you are sitting there, and what happens. Titus steps up, says, hey, guys, this is my last time too. And everybody, unless you're Yuna, not quite sure what's happening.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Everybody kind of gives them a look like, I don't know what you're talking about. Going to this beautiful CG cut scene. Here it is. He walks towards her, is like, I gotta go. I'm getting. I'm getting chills because it hurts her.
Tim Gettys
Shaking her head like that, man.
Snowbike Mike
He walks through her, and it's like, what? Oh, my God. No, Tim.
Tim Gettys
But then it's the backwards hug as he walks through.
Snowbike Mike
It's like, dude, it's the Titanic moment.
Tim Gettys
It is, man. It is. I need to distract myself from thinking too hard about it because I will start to cry. This hits so freaking hard. The music of this, the. The end right here. I use the music in my vows. I love this stuff. It is powerful freaking. And you think, okay, I get what's happening. This is sad. This is emotional. Mike, what did it do to you? When he jumps off this airship, he starts seeing everybody. He sees R, and he sees Braska. He sees his dad. High five. As he just goes into the ether.
Snowbike Mike
Dude. Oh, my God, man. What a moment. Of course, as we watch it live here on YouTube. If you're watching, if you're listening, you know the moment, we're looking at it. Here comes the high five. And it's just, like, so perfect. This is up there with, like, listening to simple and clean for the first time. We're like, oh, this is so much. This is hitting me on a different level. I was not prepared for.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Like, it is a battle to get to this moment. And you are exhausted after fighting, jacked after the summons. Like, you were at a state where you're like, I need a break. Right? Like, I need. I need a lot of water. I need to go take a walk. But this happens so fast that it's like, oh, no, we have to hit you with something. And he goes. And you're like, oh, my God. He had to say goodbye because it was the ultimate sacrifice.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
And then we get this beautiful scene of Yuna. She's in bevel, bringing everybody back. Great speech. No, that Spira has to move forward.
Tim Gettys
Oh, my God. In the speech, she says something like. Like, the loved. The loved ones we've saved, the loved ones we've lost, and the dreams that have faded. God.
Snowbike Mike
And so that's the End of Final Fantasy 10 kind of people were like.
Tim Gettys
Mike, get the whistle.
Snowbike Mike
She whistled, Tim. She whistled on the beach. And I was like, I screamed out loud. I said, just do the whistleback, someone, please, please. And there was no whistle back. But you watch the credits and you get the end game.
Tim Gettys
You get the post credit scene.
Snowbike Mike
And it is Titus and he has awoken and he starts to swim up. And I, in my world, in my Snowbike Mike mind, will end that by him getting to the surface and hearing the whistle. That's how.
Tim Gettys
That's what you want.
Snowbike Mike
That's how my end goes.
Tim Gettys
I'm right there with you. For years after this, I would think about it, I'd go on forums, I would look, I'm like, what happens next? I need to know, is there a canon answer?
Snowbike Mike
Like, he hears a whistle, right?
Tim Gettys
He has to hear the whistle too. What an experience though, man. I. I'm so happy that it hit you as hard as I. I would hope that it would.
Snowbike Mike
I gave myself to it, Tim. It was one of those of. I think we all talk about it, we always laugh, right? Snow Mike, Mike, the dude bro shooter guy, he's playing dumb fall guys. He's playing schedule one with his buddies. He's not playing those games. And I told you, in 2024, I'm gonna step out of my box. I'm gonna try different games. And I've been exposed to a lot of great games. I've tried things, but this was truly the one where it's like, I'm really gonna sit here and play a jrpg. I'm gonna play a turn based game all the way through, right?
Tim Gettys
Don't get more turn based.
Snowbike Mike
I've played a lot of turn based games in my day. But like, this is the epitome of if you think of a turn based jrpg, this is what it felt like, this is what it looked like. And I said, I'm gonna do it. And the first stream, I was hooked. I was like, this story is gonna be something I'm in. And I had support. Like I said, Krabby Patty took me through the grid. I had all the best friends watching and like hearing their memories, their moments that they love them. Being excited fueled me to keep going also. I mean, the carrot at the end of the stick. Every single time I stopped playing, there was more I needed to know, right? I needed to go to that next spot. I needed to know what was going on. I needed to know if we were ever going to see dad again. We're going to Defeat Dad. And it was perfect, Tim. It was so much fun. I loved this game. I cannot believe that I walk away going. I loved this Final Fantasy experience. And for you, Tim, I want you to know that I, later that night, watched almost all of the Final Fantasy trailers for all the other games.
Tim Gettys
I love that for you.
Snowbike Mike
8. 9.
Tim Gettys
Amazing.
Snowbike Mike
12, 13. We watched some 14. Of course, 14's a little wacky because it's the other mode. There's a lot of them. 15, 16. We watched them all. And Tim, there are some winners in there. Oh, yeah. There are some trailers that are like, okay, let's play that. Like, that looks really cool.
Tim Gettys
What pulled you the most?
Snowbike Mike
13 pulled me the most. You know, 13 is my number one right now because Lightning has very good music. They show off a lot of cool mech summons. They seem to have a cool crew. Number the. Who's the guy with the sword blades? They got guns.
Tim Gettys
Oh, that's eight.
Snowbike Mike
Okay. Eight. Fantastic eight was number two.
Tim Gettys
Ben stars really good.
Snowbike Mike
Number three is ten. Two. Because of the music, the girls. You instantly know the music is fantastic. And then after that, I think it's 12. But 12 turns into star Wars. There's a trailer that is just like, oh, they make it seem so grand, this epic scale. And it is like a Phantom Menace Star wars level trailer. We're like, oh, they're just making Star Wars. Like, that's crazy.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. I don't think you'd like. I don't think you'd like 12 that much. I could be wrong. I do think 13 is more your vibe. 13 is. It's a bit more linear. Like, 10 got a lot of hate back in the day, but I think that overall the battle system is very engaging and cool.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
Doesn't always hit, but, like, I think overall 13 is. Is in the overhated category more than anything. But I. If you're appealed to Lightning, I think there might be something there for you. But the hard thing is The Final Fantasy 102 conundrum. Do you play or do you not? You know, because I feel like it's the type of thing where you don't. I don't want to spoil the experience for you. I don't want anyone to spoil it for you either. It's not 10. It's simply not 10.
Snowbike Mike
But I love Spice Girls. I love the girl band. I like these girls fighting together. Right. Maybe. I don't know, maybe a little bit more of this. Like, here's what I want from him.
Tim Gettys
Right?
Snowbike Mike
Yeah, I. I love the girls getting together, going out there and fighting. Right. I want little pieces of story. Right. Maybe we find Titus's bracelet somewhere. You know what I mean?
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Maybe Lulu makes an appearance. Maybe.
Tim Gettys
Maybe that's the thing.
Snowbike Mike
Maybe walk. Is there.
Tim Gettys
I don't know.
Snowbike Mike
I don't know what to say.
Tim Gettys
Is 10 is a perfect, perfect end. You could just move on with your life and have it end the way you want.
Snowbike Mike
Wild, really?
Tim Gettys
But. But 10 2, it's like if you. If you want more, it gives you more. I love the battle system. I don't think the game is perfect by any means. They make some pretty wild story choices and I think they stretch some things in ways that are like, I guess that works within the world, but I'm not quite sure. And I think the biggest problem is you need to do a lot, if not all of the side stuff to get good ending and like.
Snowbike Mike
Tim, take me back.
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
You finished 10?
Tim Gettys
Yeah.
Snowbike Mike
They announced 10 2. Because I know you've been into this and you've been. You track stuff like that. What was your initial thought and feeling? Were you okay with this? Did you want something different, like a brasca and orange story? Like, what was the General reaction to 102 when the first reveal into. Of course, as you said, the game.
Tim Gettys
Well, I've told the story many times on shows, but I don't think it's ever been more appropriate to say than right now. Final Fantasy 10 changed my life in terms of how much I care about video games, RPGs, Final Fantasy as the series, all this stuff. But like, Final Fantasy 10 is a game I think about in some way, like often, like almost weekly. You know what I mean? Something will happen. I think about it. And because of that, when they announced 102 can be the first sequel in Final Fantasy history, I was so excited that my Final Fantasy was going to get the sequel. And I was so stoked. This must have been, what, 2003 or so? I didn't have a computer at home.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
So at. At school, in middle school, there was like the shitty little computer lab. And I remember sneaking in because we weren't allowed to do this. And at whatever. I think it was TGS or something, they put out the first trailer. But this is back in the day. I'm looking at video game magazines. I saw two screenshots of Final Fantasy 10. That's it.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
And they weren't even like that enticing. It was just like, oh, here's just an area. Like, we didn't even get reveals of exactly what was going on.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
This Trailer comes out. I'm reading about it. They're giving me the breakdown. I'm like, I need to fucking see this shit. I found some, like, illegal ass way to download it. Downloaded the trailer. Took three days for it to finally get there. I could click play on this thing. It was porn. It was Final Fantasy porn.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
And it was like, someone dressed as Riku, barely. They're just for a while, and then they weren't. That's how porn works.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah, of course.
Tim Gettys
And there was just so much of that mosaic blur going on.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
And I was like, this is a problem. Like, this is very unfortunate. I then tried again, and I got the right trailer, and I saw it changed my life because it was 2003. Charlie's Angels, full throttle popping off. All right. I was all about this. I love the Spice Girls. I love Girl Power. I'm all in. Riku was like, one of my faves from Final Fantasy 10, so getting more of her. She's a lead in this one. Let's fucking go, dude. Yuna having the guns now. The summoner is now like, she's a baddie with guns, dude. I. I was all about it. I was obsessed with 10.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
Obsessed lead into that. Could not have been more excited for a game at that point.
Snowbike Mike
No.
Tim Gettys
Oh, yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Jazzed up.
Tim Gettys
So jazzed. And then it came out, and I was so into it, and I loved it. And I. To this day, I love it. But it's not. The things that you love the most about 10.
Snowbike Mike
Yeah.
Tim Gettys
I think are gonna let you down in 10 2. Having said that.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
There are many moments that I'm like, I think 102 is absolutely worth it. If you're on this high, just think of it as a alternate universe. Like, if you want more, here's more. But something might upset you. I'll say. I love that I always say this to people. Death Note is one of, if not my favorite anime. Right. There's a moment that happens, I think, in, like, episode 26, that to me, I'm like, that's the end of the show. Oh, the show ends there. There's 11 more episodes after that, and I really like those 11 episodes. I'd recommend anyone that watches Death Note to watch all of them, but just think of it as, like, an alternate ending. You know what I mean?
Snowbike Mike
Don't think. Okay.
Tim Gettys
Anyway, I want to get to some super chats before we. We'll get out of here. We'll let Lightning run these.
Snowbike Mike
Okay. Let's hit some of them.
Tim Gettys
Yeah. Double A says Mike did You watch the post credit scene. Your stream cut off right when the credits.
Snowbike Mike
I did, I did. I re recorded it. I should have put it up, but I did. And of course that's where in my mind he hears the whistle.
Tim Gettys
Yes, yes.
Snowbike Mike
Beautiful.
Tim Gettys
Bobby Joe says, Mike, I really enjoyed your playthrough. Loved watching the whole journey. Have you thought about playing the sequel?
Snowbike Mike
Thank you, Bobby Joe. Yes, I will take some time away. Maybe a month or two. But not too much time though. Yeah.
Tim Gettys
Because they do follow up on.
Snowbike Mike
Oh really?
Tim Gettys
Oh yeah.
Snowbike Mike
Okay then. Yeah, I'll probably play it sooner than later then. But right now, like I said, I'm playing Devil May Cry. I'm getting lost. I'm gonna learn how to type. Tim, as you know, in middle school we had the opportunity to go out to typing class, but I would go to speech therapy because I couldn't say my R's right. And so I. I never got to learn how to type. And to this day, as you see me on my desk. Yeah, I type with one fingers like this. I peck. I'm the exact same story.
Tim Gettys
I didn't realize that about you.
Snowbike Mike
I have downloaded Typing of the Dead, which is the fun typing game. And I'll learn how.
Tim Gettys
That's how you can learn. So I got something special boy Mike.
Snowbike Mike
I love it.
Tim Gettys
That's fantastic. And then we have Guitar Hero Ace saying, I got my wisdom teeth out today and my face feels like Aerith at the end of disc one. But thanks kind of funny for keeping the hype through the recovery. P.S. obligatory Titus laugh comment in context. It's powerful stuff, man.
Snowbike Mike
I don't know what to say. If you understand and you get it, it's awesome. It's awesome.
Tim Gettys
Mark says, glad we love the game, Mike. 10 was my entry to Final Fantasy will always be special. Can we get a Titus laugh from you and Tim for the end of the journey?
Snowbike Mike
I got it. So good. It's so good. Everyone when they join together, it's even better.
Tim Gettys
C.J. splits on Mike. What? Final Fantasy is next. 9, 12, 15. I think you got to do 10.
Snowbike Mike
102 for sure. 102 is a guarantee. I will. At least I'm going to give it the good college try. Yeah, but what is next? I bet you it's probably 1315 with the boy band I'm interested in. And maybe eight or nine. Eight or nine? I don't know which one. I can't remember. But I have some options if I'll throw a dart and try one.
Tim Gettys
I love it.
Snowbike Mike
Right?
Tim Gettys
It's still for nine. Thousand says my you have in two hit combo zombie strike plus life. Come on.
Snowbike Mike
What a crazy situation. What a wild one.
Tim Gettys
And then final thing here From Topher saying X2 has three endings. The bad, the good and the perfect. The good ending's easy to get. Gives you what you want. You need 100 on all the sides to get the perfect ending.
Snowbike Mike
Okay.
Tim Gettys
So yeah, obviously you'll have the guardians out there helping you through it all. There's one thing I'll say and I want to tell everyone in the chat right now. I'm gonna hold you to this because if you me on this, I'll be really upset. No matter what happens. No matter what happens. This man beats 10 2. Doesn't beat 10 2. I'm not so sure. There's two things I need from you. One, when he gets to the thousand word scene, I need you to to text me. Figure it out. I need to watch that shit live.
Snowbike Mike
I love that stuff.
Tim Gettys
Two, he beats this game. You do not tell him what happens in the freaking post dumbass novel whatever the fuck thing the play. I don't even remember what the hell it was you. We do not talk about that in this house. That is. That did not happen and it never will happen.
Snowbike Mike
Okay?
Tim Gettys
Okay.
Snowbike Mike
Damn, it's exciting.
Tim Gettys
Chad agrees with me and I appreciate this.
Snowbike Mike
Thank you.
Tim Gettys
No more. We don't do that part three bullshit. We just don't do it the audio drama. We don't do it the audio drama. I don't even want him to know.
Snowbike Mike
It's crazy.
Tim Gettys
It'll upset him.
Snowbike Mike
What a game. What a game.
Tim Gettys
Let us know in the comments below what you think of Final Fantasy 10 and how excited you are to see Mike give 102 a shot at some point. He has many things to do. He has demons to hunt.
Snowbike Mike
Devil may cry. This game is nuts. Tim. Thank you to everybody that came on this journey with me. Thank you to Tim and the kind of funny crew and most importantly our audience who allowed me to take over a kind of funny games cast. Fill in a day and take over and just kind of talk about Final Fantasy. What a great time. Fell in love with it. I'm so happy to see a lot of the characters grow. I wish I fell in love more with Ricky AKA Riku. I just did not make that connection like I needed to. Like I liked the off camera stuff but fighting I never got. Oh yeah. Not my jam walker way to grow. You know what I mean? Still mad at you but I'm happy that you grew and got outside of the island. And he needed that.
Tim Gettys
He did.
Snowbike Mike
And that's it. That's it. Great time.
Tim Gettys
Yep. Till next time, everyone. Love you all. Goodbye.
