Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Today's stories include Subnautica 2 devs versus Krafton continues. Overwatch 2's director wants to get back to story and our first look at a new Resident Evil game. We'll have all this and more because this is Kind of Funny Games Daily. Yo, what's up? Welcome to Kind of Funny Games daily for Friday, July 11, 2025. I'm one of your host blessing, Addie Oyea Jr. Joining me is the the nitro rifle, Andy Cortez.
Andy Cortez
Warren Bless. I'm doing a Dune Awakening survey.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, like you're filling out the survey.
Andy Cortez
Some feedback.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Wow. Like what kind of feedback are you giving?
Andy Cortez
They're asking what kind of player are you? Are you more of a. Do you lean more PvE? Do you like PvP? Are you into the immersion of the world building or do you prefer whatever, you know. So I just, I just want to get to the point where they ask like, what should we add? And I want monsters and aliens.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, dude, do they have monsters and aliens? They do in universe.
Andy Cortez
So again, they're taking liberties with this because it's an alternate history, alternate timeline sort of thing. But Nick was telling me they got something called like tiger white tigers or. Well, I guess those are real. But like they have some sort of.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Tigers in cheetahs in there.
Andy Cortez
In the Dune universe, a big cat, if you will.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like a big alien cat situation.
Andy Cortez
I don't know if it's an alien necessarily because again, this all comes from Earth, you know, like, okay, Dune is based on Earth.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Like expanding out over the course of centuries.
Andy Cortez
Laser lazer, tiger. Yeah. So they have like big ass cats. I just want to fight monsters.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I got questions.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, tell me.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And like, because like you say Dune is, you know, it's from Earth, we expanded out over millennium.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I guess so.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So was it like a Noah's Ark situation where we brought the tigers with us or did we like take the DNA and then plant the DNA like a seed in the alien soil and then watered it and it grew into a tiger?
Andy Cortez
That's a great question because I didn't even know Dune was in the, in our universe until I'm talking to a random man.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I just thought it was in our universe.
Andy Cortez
Well, I just thought it was just like a. I don't know, like some random alien story. Like I didn't. So. So let me tell you. So I'm talking with an npc and then an NPC goes, oh yeah. And in, you know, in ancient Greece or something, I was like, oh, word. Like I didn't know we were doing that here. I didn't know you knew about Greece.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Interesting.
Andy Cortez
You know what I mean?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay. Yeah, no, that would shock me.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, like, I, you know, if. If one of the Dune guys says, yeah, one time in New Jersey or something, I'd be like, whoa, that's crazy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Interesting.
Kevin Coelho
Takes takes place 20,000 years after present time and 10,000 years after they have this, like, giant, basically a AI robot, like, uprising that they quell.
Andy Cortez
And that's why they don't have tech. Yeah, that's why they don't have computers.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, because they're afraid of the tech. They're afraid of the AI.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, ptsd.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Listen, we're barely towards that future right now. So, like, what universe do you think Star wars is in? Do you think it's in our universe or a different one that starts.
Kevin Coelho
That starts out.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's in the past. Right.
Andy Cortez
Galaxy far, far away, but it's like, long, long ago? It's not. No, no, it's not in the past. They're telling it from a point way in the future, but it's still the past.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
No, I don't think.
Kevin Coelho
I don't think that's right, Andy.
Andy Cortez
No, I believe so.
Kevin Coelho
I don't think so. I think it is in the past in a galaxy far, far away. Still in our universe, though.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I don't think it's in our universe, but just like so far away and so long ago that it's just like it never reached us.
Andy Cortez
They're not going to reference Wyoming. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What if he did? What if Luke Skywalker is like, I had a vision of a McDonald's.
Kevin Coelho
I think in Star wars lore, like, they can't.
Andy Cortez
They can't. They.
Kevin Coelho
They have trouble leaving the galaxy. They have a galaxy that's big and like a two thirds of it, I think, is mapped, and then one third is, like, unknown space.
Andy Cortez
But, like, you could be making all this up. I wouldn't know.
Kevin Coelho
I think some of the more recent CGI shows have talked about, like, leaving that galaxy and, like, you talking about.
Andy Cortez
Like, the animated Clone War stuff.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's.
Kevin Coelho
What's that one blue guy that everyone really likes?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Guys, come on, help me out.
Kevin Coelho
Star Wars.
Andy Cortez
He left Jake Sully.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The millions would be going to TJ Maxx. Thank you, Chat.
Kevin Coelho
Thank you for knowing what I'm talking about. Thrawn. Somehow, like, they accidentally left the their galaxy and were, like, locked out for a while and trying to find their way back.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's crazy how cool sci fi is when other people are telling me about sci fi. I mean, that's why there's. The movies are never as cool as, like, what people tell me.
Kevin Coelho
Well, think about, like, in a short amount of time, we could give you, like, the story that has taken place over the last 30 or 50 years when it comes to Dune, you know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, Yeah. I need more anthology series because I think that's what Black Mirror does. Well, is that they're like, yo, let's skip all of, like, the boring shit. Let's skip all of, like, the bill. Like, building this shit up. Let's just get straight to the sugar. Let's show you where technology goes.
Kevin Coelho
Talked about Thrawn, and now here's our Thrawn boy. What's up?
Andy Cortez
You guys have questions?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, yeah. Star Wars.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Does it take place in our universe?
Andy Cortez
Takes place in a galaxy far, far away.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But in our universe, though, right? Like, when they tell. When we see the opening scroll, that's like.
Andy Cortez
Are they telling that from the future?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's like when they're saying, long, long ago. Are they saying long, long ago from 2025, I think.
Andy Cortez
I think that's the implication. Like, it's somewhere so far out in space.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, is that text talking about this so far?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, that's talking.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because Andy thinks it's some person.
Andy Cortez
Oh. But the past also, if something's over far distance, things are happening way long ago anyway. Like, when we see a star explode, it really exploded, like, a thousand years ago or something.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Honestly, when we get into, like, the colliding of time and space, it gets really wacky to me where I really. Because don't people age faster in space? Isn't that a thing?
Andy Cortez
Well, there's time dilation and, like, interstellar.
Kevin Coelho
If you're going.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I still. Well, don't tell me. I've not seen it yet. I've been saving it. I've been saving. I'm going to watch it less. I'm going to watch it soon.
Andy Cortez
So the thing was, Barrett, it's a very. Okay, from my perspective, that mic's not live.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What? Mike, you got.
Andy Cortez
Oh, from my. Oh, thank God. The mic wasn't live because he said it's. Intercell is a very okay movie. When the. So whenever I see. In a. A long time ago in the galaxy far, far away, in my perspective, it's an old grandfather telling his kids this tale, and this is, like, way in the future.
Kevin Coelho
Oh, bless.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I just want to be clear.
Kevin Coelho
That is.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's you, man.
Andy Cortez
That's like you inferring that's like, not.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
How do they.
Andy Cortez
How do they got future ships and lightsabers and we don. Even have flying cars here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because everything sucks here, Andy. Far, far away. Progress further. Their big bang happened earlier, so they're further along now.
Kevin Coelho
Now you're mixing up universes and galaxies.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I feel like that works, right? Because. Because, like, no, the Big Bang. Here's my theory. We're talking about science, right? Because of course, I didn't. I didn't come up with a big bang, but, like, hear me out. You didn't hear me out. I was under the assumption, was there one big bang or are there multiple big bangs happening?
Andy Cortez
Do we.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Can we even theorize one big.
Kevin Coelho
No, we can't theorize it. We can't theory.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So there was one big Bang, and.
Andy Cortez
Then it's like the big bangs theory.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You know, that's fair.
Kevin Coelho
Bless. Bless. There is a theory that technically all our world or our universe is inside a black hole. And so the idea could be that all the other black holes also have universes inside them. That's where shit gets crazy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I saw, like, a tweet today, and you know when it's on Twitter, that means it's real. That said Earth is in a void. Like, scientists recently discovered that in hearing about this. Yeah. That Earth is in a void.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. And I've honestly. Do you think we're in space prison? Like, someone out there is, like, put us in space person?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Probably.
Andy Cortez
I think I've assumed that for a while.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
One of the Scientologists are. Right. Yeah. You think if the aliens. If they had, like, a jury that judged planets and they're judging Earth, there's no way we're not in prison.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
They look at us and they're like, yo, we got to do something about these guys. They're fucking dangerous.
Andy Cortez
Anyway, someone said in chat earlier, which is why I came out here, they said they're pretty sure Camino is outside of the Star wars galaxy. No, it's in the Star wars galaxy. It just got erased from the database. And then Thrawn is from outside of their kind of galaxy. I forget what he's called Thrawn reminds me of.
Kevin Coelho
Outside of their galaxy or.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, like, outside of the galactic, like, realm and shit. Like, he's from wild space. They don't like.
Kevin Coelho
Okay, so that's what I was explaining earlier. Two thirds of space in the Star wars galaxy has been explored, and there's one third that has not.
Andy Cortez
I was all, Matthew, like that. That's crazy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Science focused dot com, which is A spin off of BBC. Earth may be trapped inside a giant void in space, says scientists good. This is written by Ezzy Pearson. This is story number one on khtv.
Andy Cortez
Just Earth?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think that's a good question. Is it not just our galaxy?
Andy Cortez
Is it not the milky. Is it just a milk.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It must be the. Because the image they show is the Milky Way.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, that's crazy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Here we go. Yeah, no, it starts off Earth and the rest of the Milky Way could be floating in a billion light year wide cosmic void, according to new research. Yeah, this from two days ago.
Kevin Coelho
There's a lot of big voids in the seeable universe. So I mean, it's not crazy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Is that a good thing? Like, should we be. Should we feel safe in the void? Or should I feel.
Andy Cortez
No, I feel like I think we're being punished.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I like that.
Kevin Coelho
That's the galactic map from Star Wars. You see the dark side there? That's wild space.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
All right, baby.
Andy Cortez
The stir. The survey asked me if I like said imperial testing stations or dungeons, and I like those a lot.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I forgot that this spun off of your Dune Awakening survey.
Kevin Coelho
To go back to Dune.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm pretty sure that's not a crazy hop.
Kevin Coelho
In Dune, there are no aliens, except for maybe the worm. And there are theories that the worm is created by man.
Andy Cortez
There you go.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
What about the little rat?
Andy Cortez
Guys, I need. I need monsters.
Kevin Coelho
Well, that's, that's animals that have come with us as we travel.
Andy Cortez
I need aliens to shoot. It's just always dudes with guns or dudes run at you with knives. Dan Ranney says, anyone know why there's no KF podcast? I mean, have you not listened to the last 10 minutes of this episode? It's pretty much just.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, we're giving it to you. All right, let's get into the show. Barry, thank you so much for coming through. Kevin, thank you so much for the context around the rules of Dune and maybe some of the rules of Star Wars. I'm still kind of fuzzy on some of it. For now, let's begin with what is and forever will be the Roper Report. It's time for some news. We have five stories today. Baker's Dozer, starting with our number one. This is a follow up of yesterday's khd. But first two news stories here. The back and forth. It's a he said, she said situation.
Andy Cortez
Getting messy.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Getting real messy. Did you listen to yesterday's episode or have you caught up with.
Andy Cortez
I. I was like caught up before the episode and I listened to most of it yesterday.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So I. The IGN's article here does a great job of catching us up very briefly before we get into it. But yeah, this is a two parter for these. The first two stories we have a statement from Krafton and then we have the statement from the leads of Subnautica 2. So hopping into story number one. This is from IGN, Rebecca Valentine, Subnautica 2 publisher Krafton blames leads for delay in statement. It reads like this. The ongoing drama around Subnautica 2's delay and its team's upheaval continues with the company Krafton issuing a lengthy public statement today accusing the studio's leaders of having abandoned responsibilities on the game, alleging they focused on personal projects to rather than fulfilling their contracted roles and suggesting the game's delay is their fault. I'm going to pause there. So to give you context, if you didn't listen to yesterday's episode, right. Trying to find the name of the studio here.
Andy Cortez
Unknown Worlds.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Thank you. Unknown Worlds. They are the developers of Subnautica 1. They were acquired by Krafton to then make Subnautica 2. The game was supposed to come out in early Access sometime this year with a stipulation in their contract with Krafton that if they were to hit certain financial goals by the end of the year, they will get a $250 million bonus, which is a crazy number, by the way. We didn't linger on that yesterday.
Andy Cortez
That seems like an oversight.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That seems like a typo. Right? Like you added one too many zeros. Yeah, but yeah, they're supposed to get a $250 million bonus if they're able to hit certain financial goals. In the last couple of weeks, the leads of the studio who are working on Subnautica 2 were ousted by the company like of nowhere, kind of mysteriously like, oh, you're gone, we're replacing you with a different studio head. And Crafton delayed the game to next year. The implication there is that seemingly they're doing that to then not allow them to hit those financial goals so that they can keep the $250 million for themselves. And I have to pay that out.
Andy Cortez
Which happens so much in sports. Blessing the amount of times that there are players that, that are so close to a contract, little benefit that where there's something in their contract that says if they play this many games or if they have this many snaps, if they're like in so many plays or whatever, there are sometimes where owners or coaches will be like, we're not going to put you in. And it's like, oh, that's so fucked up because you're close to that $80,000 bonus or whatever. This happens so much in sports, it's ridiculous.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So hopping into the statement, the full statement, this one coming from crafton to our 12 million fellow sub nuts, first and foremost, we sincerely thank you for your continued support, passion and unwavering dedication to Subnautica. We wish to provide clarity on the recent leadership changes at Unknown Worlds, a creative studio under Krafton. Crafton deeply values Subnautica's unique creativity and immersive world building. To provide fans with even better gaming experiences, we acquired Unknown Worlds. Fully committed to supporting Subnautica's future success. We collaborated closely with the studio's leadership who, who were central to the creation of the original Subnautica. To foster the optimal environment for a successful Subnautica 2. Specifically, in addition to the initial $500 million purchase price, we allocated approximately 90% of the up to $250 million. Sorry, yeah, $250 million. Even when I say it, it doesn't sound real crazy. $250 million earnout compensation to the three former executives with the expectation that they would demonstrate leadership and active involvement in the development of Subnautica 2. However, regrettably, the former leadership abandoned the responsibilities entrusted to them. Subnautica 2 was originally planned for an early access launch in early 2024, but the timeline has since been significantly delayed. Krafton made multiple requests to Charlie and Max to resume their roles as Game Director and Technical Director respectively, but both declined to do so. In particular, following the failure of Moonbreaker, Crafton asked Charlie to devote himself to the development of Subnautica 2. However, instead of participating in the game development, he chose to focus on a personal film project. Crafton believes that the absence of core leadership has resulted in repeated confusion in direction and significant delays in the overall project schedule. The current early access version also falls short in terms of content and volume. We are deeply disappointed by the former leadership's conduct, and above all, we feel a profound sense of betrayal by their failure to honor the trust placed in them by our fans. To uphold our commitment to provide you with the best possible gaming experience, we made the difficult yet necessary decision to change the executive leadership, they continue. Additionally, Crafton has committed to fair and equitable compensation for all remaining Unknown World employees who who have continuously and tirelessly contributed to Subnautica 2's development. We believe that the dedication and effort of this team are at the very heart of Subnautica's ongoing evolution, and we reaffirm our commitment to provide the rewards they were promised. So that's the he said from Crafton. Let's bring in story number two. The leads are suing. This is from directly from Charlie Cleveland on Twitter. Hello everyone. It continues to be an explosive and surreal time for Subnautica team and community. None of this is what we wanted, but we truly appreciate the amazing support we've gotten from everyone. It means a lot to us, especially now. As I wrote last week, we know in our souls that the game is ready for early access. That's just how we roll and we'd like nothing more than for you to play it. Game devs live for this, but it's not currently under our control. We've now filed a lawsuit against Crafton. The details should eventually become at least mostly public. You all deserve to you all deserve the full story. Suing a multibillion dollar company in a painful, public and possibly protracted way was certainly not on my bucket list, but this needs to be made right. Subnautica has been my life's work and I would never willingly abandon it or the amazing team that has poured their hearts into it. As for the earnout the idea that Max, Ted and I wanted to keep it all for ourselves is totally untrue. I'm in this industry because I love it. Not for riches. Historically, we've always shared our profits with the team and did the same when we sold the studio. You can be damn sure we'll continue to continue with the earnout slash bonus as well. They deserve it for all their incredible work trying to get this great game into your hands. Stay tuned, Charlie. So those are both sides of the story as of late yesterday, Jason Schreier.
Andy Cortez
Tweeted or Blue sky or whatever about an hour ago and said update. The lawsuit against Crafton is for breach of contract. The complaint is under seal. So no new info there yet.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It was also a pretty good tweet from or sorry, Blue sky post from Jason Schreier where he mentioned that, you know, I think a lot of people are missing the fact that like a big part of the story is the fact that the employees of Unknown Worlds. Unknown Worlds, Right.
Andy Cortez
I keep messing up Unknown World.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I keep forgetting the studio name.
Andy Cortez
Well, because they also own player unknowns. Battlegrounds.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes. Yeah. But Unknown Worlds, the Subnautica studio, the bulk of developers there were expecting gigantic bonuses, right? So like let's say 80 people work there, right? Like they were all expecting six figures, seven figure bonuses by the end of the year.
Andy Cortez
That's. Yeah, that should be life changing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Life changing bonuses.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. This is. Wow. I. We're in a weird spot with it because when this happens with Craft, when this happens with the founders and even before Crafton puts out their statement, I'm like, oh wow, Crafton. This is all awful. Are we saying it right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't know. Crafting.
Andy Cortez
Crafting.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Craft, yeah, crafting, like the whole thing.
Andy Cortez
It obviously it's, it's. It stinks like this. This, there's a stink in this story. This feels so shady. This obviously feels really wrong. You read this as an outsider and you go, these people, these employees would have all been subjected to a 250 million dollar bonus had they released in 2025 and hit certain marks. But the game's getting delayed. This seems so, it seems so cut and dry. This seems so obvious about what's happening here. And in the back of my mind I'm like, but there's got to be more to it, right?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And regardless of whatever happens with these founders, it's all about for me at least these 80 to 90 or however many people working at Unknown Worlds to get what they are due and get what they are owed.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes.
Andy Cortez
Like that it's insane that we're. We're at that point right now. And I think Krafton being, you know, the head of the executives who don't ultimately give a shit about what their employees are getting or what people are. What money are making, because they want the money for themselves, because that's how executives work. And it's all about, how can I get the most for the smallest amount of input, you know?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And I think their line of thinking is, well, what an easy opportunity for us to just delay the game. Because maybe, yes, maybe the founders are fucking up. I'm not going to. I'm not going to act like maybe the. The founders were totally okay and doing like a perfect job. Maybe they did up. But delaying the game when it seems like everybody knows that the game doesn't need to be delayed and you're only doing it for monetization purposes, then that's like. That's a big knife in the back right there.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. I feel like that's one that obviously I'm not like, gone in and seen what other people who work at the studio are saying or even if they are saying things right. But, like, you would think that many people at the studio, enough people would probably know to be like, oh, no, we could have shipped this. Like, this is in a shippable state for early access.
Andy Cortez
For early access. Of course. I mean, we've seen a bunch of disasters in early access. But it. It seemed like every statement that was said so far, at least to me, seemed like, hey, this is totally viable for early access and we're going to be fine doing this. And you are only making this call so that none of us get this payout. What do you think it. What do you think ultimately happens with this lawsuit? Where do you think the founders are going with this? Do you think the founders are in any way coming back? And in part of my mind, I'm like, wow, what an awesome marketing opportunity this may. This could have been like. Or like, if. If any studio wanted to fake any of this drama, it would be so lucrative.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, yeah.
Andy Cortez
Just be like, we were going to boycott y', all, but now we're back because you all are, like, doing the developers, right? Like, I. I'm in such a weird spot with this because you just want these developers so to get what they're owed.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I think. I hope. I hope the developers get what they're owed. When I say the developers, I don't even mean just like the leads. I mean like the adp. No, that's what I mean, Unknown Worlds, right. In that last part of their statement, the Crafton, the publisher, right. Like they say that they're committed to fair and equitable compensation for, for all remaining Unknown World employees who have continuously and tirelessly contributed to Subnautica 2's development. That to me says that they're going to own up to what people were told they were going to get. At least to some extent. Are they going to get as much? Maybe not. I don't know. That's a tough thing to parse out. Especially if Krafton made this move, presumably to try and avoid paying out that much money. But maybe if it is a thing where they said also in their statement that 90% of the money was allocated toward the leads. If you can still take that 10%, if you can take that $25 million and divvy that up between 80 developers, you can still make that sing in a way where I'm like, listen, I'm still getting my six figures bonus here out of that 25 million across our company. That's still life changing money.
Andy Cortez
Right.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So I hope that that happens. Now, are the leads going to come back to Unknown Worlds and like work on Subnautica? I don't think so. I think this taints everything. I think once you start suing the publisher, I think that relationship is done. And also I think both parties wouldn't want to do it unless, unless the leads, I think the only way they work on Subnautica to, or work on Subnautica again is if they were to just buy out Unknown Worlds. Like if they had enough money to buy out the studio from Crafton and like if everybody at the studio has a great relationship and everybody who works there like wants to work for these leads and like there's a cry, there's a plea from the studio to be like, no, reunite us with these leads. Like this isn't going to work without them. Then maybe there's a, maybe there's a possible outcome where, yeah, they buy it out and all and like they're able to have a split from Crafton. But I think in no universe, zero universe is like Cleveland and like the other leads that were ousted end up coming back and working under Crafton. I think that relationship is absolutely done.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I, I mean it's, man, it's, it's such a fascinating one. This is one that's going to be like, we need a, a book and a movie made.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, this is all the entire Jason Schreier book.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There's an entire novel.
Andy Cortez
There's Just so much shadiness. And again, like, I just keep going back to like, man, this, it's. This story stinks of like, you know, there's some shady happening all around this. And I, you know, again, at the end of the day, I still believe that the founders could have up. And if they were messing up enough to be ousted, then they deserve to be ousted. But to use that as, it really just seems like they're using that as the opportunity as an as and as an excuse to say, well, hey, hey, the founders are messing up. Now we don't got to do this. Bonus.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, it feels. Honestly, from Crafton, if I were to do my speculation thing, right, like speculation station. Speculation station. Right. I would look at this. I think from Crafton, it was like probably a fine print situation of. In this paragraph, they say we don't.
Andy Cortez
Work on personal films.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Well, no, like, kind of. Right. They say in this paragraph we allocated approximately 90% of the top. Or, sorry, 90% of the. Up to a $250 million payout to the three former executives with the expectation that they would demonstrate leadership and active involvement in. In the development of Subnautica too. If those, if the executive leaders there of Unknown Worlds implied or even spent their time. Yeah. Working on a personal film, doing other things, I could easily see Crafton being like, oh, this is perfect. Like, you don't have to give them that money because like in the fight we, hey, you guys aren't demonstrating active involvement. We expected full time from you. You guys are putting in part time hours, right? Like, that could be enough for them to go, all right, get rid of them. We don't have to give them the 250mil. Like, the game's not ready.
Andy Cortez
And it's like, well, no, what it is. Whether the founders are here or not, the game is ready.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. And that's the thing is I think the game not being ready is more of a scapegoat for them. Looking at the founders and being like, oh, well, they weren't active involvement. We're going to delay it and make that the real excuse. Or make that like the scapegoat excuse. But the real thing we're doing here is beefing with the leaders.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. I mean, Jason Char's post here perfectly encapsulates what I was thinking as I'm reading all of this, where he says, as a little paraphrase quote, joke tweet saying the dev team totally up because the founders were gone, but now that the founders are gone, they're gonna kill it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
And that's exactly what's happening here. It's so shady. It's so messed up. And it is the, it is the giants clashing up there and the people at the bottom will be the ones subject to the punishment, which, which really, really sucks. And I hope that whatever happens with this lawsuit, whatever it is, I just want the public pressure to be on Crafton to have these employees get what they're due because based on just, you know, again, I don't know exactly how true a lot of these statements are, but it just seems like a lot of developers are still kind of not even sure what's happening. They're not really being informed. They're reading these press releases saying, oh, they will still be, you know, the dev team will still be helped out and they will still be gifted or whatever the hell. And it seems like a lot of devs are like, well, we don't know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, like if I'm a dev at Unknown Worlds, right. I'm probably not saying right now, like, I'm, I'm just at work doing my thing, just praying to God I'm like, well, I thought I was gonna get this bonus, but like all this shit's happening and I'm scared to say, but like you're. Yeah, probably just hoping. Yeah, I hope I see this money someday.
Andy Cortez
Put the pressure on. We're not buying this unless these devs get these bonuses.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Andy, we talk a lot about Subnautica in the last couple of days. I want to switch over to a conversation about Overwatch, but. But before we do, I want to switch over to a conversation about patreon.com kindafunny and YouTube.com kinda funnygames where you can get the kinda funny membership which allows you to get shows ad free. Speaking of ads, let us tell you about our sponsors.

Which of the following are your main motivations to play Dune Awakening? I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go leveling up. I love the progression. And I'll go customization because, man, my house is looking real good right now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
When I was watching Nick just build my house over the course of a few hours stream, I was like, wow, this.
Andy Cortez
It's fun.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's kind of cool. He's kind of cooking. Also, don't act like you didn't hit me with an African proper proverb during the ad break.
Andy Cortez
I was trying to think of what the saying was. And I don't know what piece of media I saw it in, but the proverb is, when elephants fight, it is the grass that suffers.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Which is beautiful. Like, I suppress a great way to picture this, right? Talking about the leads and the in the publisher. And then everybody else is like, I hope I get this bonus. Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Like, I hope I got whatever y' all are doing up there, you know, please allow us to, you know, get our due story.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Actually, before we move on to story number three, we have a couple of super chats. Peter Duke writes in and says, blessing Overture.
Andy Cortez
Yes.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
One day.
Andy Cortez
Blessing Overture. Overture.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I was thinking about it because I'm like, I'm not actively. Actively playing anything right now. But also like Don Kong Bonanza.
Andy Cortez
There has never been a better time to hop into lies of p. What's.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
The release date of.
Andy Cortez
And we're excited for you to play today on Xbox Series S. I don't know why I went with that, but.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
See, that comes out. Yeah. Don Kong Bonanza comes out in like six days. Can I beat Overture Six days?
Andy Cortez
Yeah, you can.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I don't want to get interrupted. You know What I mean?
Andy Cortez
15 hours.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh, is it really? Yeah, because then I have to get there at least 30 hours.
Andy Cortez
Getting there. I mean, you drop this difficulty down like the easiest one. Get there. Chapter five. Easy. It's so fast. Give these chapters so fast.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'll think about it. Sky Forceland says, if Star wars is in our universe, give me a miniseries where Force users are on Earth. I kind of with that.
Kevin Coelho
It's they're so far away though, guys. They can't get here.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's true. I'm sure. Like you don't even have many.
Andy Cortez
By the time they get here they're dead because of the time.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because they like, when you think about it, right, like, cool, they got lightsabers and but like we got the Internet, you know, like there's certain things like haven't reached there and like certain things didn't reach back. You know, we're so far away. So here we don't have the Force. I think they have. Then over there they don't have. I think they have the Internet, you know, they don't. They don't have bbls in the Star wars universe, but we got them here. So yeah, you give and take. Which one do you want? Force or bbls?
Andy Cortez
Pros and Cons Pros and Cons Story.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Number three Overwatch Hue Director says Blizzard wants to get back to story content after fans feel it drop the ball with PvE this is Michael Kripe at IGN. Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller has addressed criticisms that Blizzard Entertainment dropped the ball when it comes to things like story content, PvE and animated shorts. The face of Blizzard's popular Hero Shooter opened up about the team's struggle during an interview with with content creator J3 and Overwatch 2 voice actor Connor McCloud. Although the multiplayer title is largely known for its team based gameplay, Keller recognizes that some story content will need to come back for Overwatch 2 to be firing on all cylinders. Quote One of the things that we hear our players talk about a lot you see online, it feels like Overwatch has dropped the ball when it comes to story and lore, keller said in response to a question from McLeod. Well, you kind of see that we used to put few more of the big animated shorts out than we do nowadays. Overwatch animated shorts are a sore spot for fans. Blizzard originally built excitement with a series of high quality cinematics from 2016 to 2023, with each highlighting abilities for characters like Reinhardt, Hanzo, Genji, May, Bastion and more, while also showing how many of his 43 playable characters fit into the larger story. What began as somewhat frequent lore drops eventually started to fizzle out around the release of Overwatch 2 in 2022. It's been nearly two years since fans received a 3D animated cinematic. Frustrations with the lack of animated shorts reached a boiling point when Blizzard announced it would be scrapping its PvE Hero ambitions in summer 2023, with a long promised story driven mode canceled and animated Shorts release releases crawling to a halt. Blizzard had to start from scratch. Although it's been years without a significant update, Color says the Overwatch 2 team hasn't completely left Story behind, quote, to speak frankly about it. We did have a big plan to go after Story in the game. That was the PvE side of of it with the campaign and everything like that. That didn't work out. So it was kind of a bit of a reset moment for us when it happened, when that happened, and we would like to get back to it. I think one of the best parts of Overwatch is the universe and the characters that are there. That's definitely a goal of ours to get back to it. There's been a bit of a step backwards and we had to take an order there's been a bit of a step backwards that we had to take in order for us to be able to start moving forward on it again. End quote. One idea many fans, including McLeod, would love to see is an Overwatch TV series. Keller says he's not opposed to the idea, going as far as to say, we'd love to do that. It's unclear how, when or if Color in the Overwatch 2 team will be able to enter another golden age. One thing is clear. Color knows Over Overwatch fans want more story content. Quote. I think for us to say that Overwatch 2 is firing on all cylinders, we need to have some of that come back, Keller said. Andy, you're an Overwatch fan. You're a big Overwatch fan. I'm. I'm also a big Overwatch fan, but I'm kind of lapsed a bit.
Andy Cortez
Oh, it's been.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's been some years.
Andy Cortez
I'm definitely lapsed as well.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
But, you know, I. When you bring up Connor McLeod, I'm like, who is that? And I look up the character, I go, that's. I haven't seen that character in game, nor have I seen maybe the. The character Prior. Like, that's how long it's been because he plays a character named Hazard, and Hazard is this kind of, like, tank purple. A lot of, like, purple spikes. And I don't even know what the dude does.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay.
Andy Cortez
And that's. That's how lapsed I am.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's wild.
Andy Cortez
It's been a long time, dude.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I'm so ignorant because I read that. Assumed. I totally assumed it was Agent 47 or not Agent 47. Soldier. Doesn't sound right. Agent 47.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Soldier 76.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Yeah. It's been a. It's been a while. I. I know that Overwatch 2 and the failure that was Overwatch 2's story mode and trying to. And really putting PvP on the, you know, on the back burner. A lot of that led to less focus on. On what they were already doing. Right. And so, like, the PvP game really, really hurt because of that. When you go into development and you're focusing so much on what these PvE story modes and little snippets are going to be like. Remember, we reacted to that one Overwatch Direct live during the pandemic, picking it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Apart and being like, oh, man, okay, this could be cool. And we're like, they're theorizing and speculating. We're like, super hyped for it.
Andy Cortez
They talked about different classes and different abilities, and a lot of that, I feel, is still being utilized in Overwatch arena in the Arenas mode, which is a. The third person mode that has you kind of round by round.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Stadium.
Andy Cortez
Stadium. Stadium. You're right. It. Arenas is a Apex.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I miss Apex.
Andy Cortez
Arenas has your character being customized and changing little like RPG abilities to where you go, oh, maybe I want Zarya's shields that she's shooting out to last longer. Maybe I want to be able to shoot two or three now. Or maybe, you know, it lets you customize in a way. And I think that a lot of those systems and mechanics are maybe kind of left over from what they were doing, where, you know, it's like, oh, you can have Reinhardt do three shield strikes or a hammer strikes, or you can have him charge this many times with a small cooldown.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I.
Andy Cortez
What really, really got lost was the story and lore. And that's why so many people really still love this universe. That was just so much potential.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Everybody, whenever you talk about Overwatch lore and story, it's like the number one term you hear is like, man, they dropped that. They dropped the bag bad.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
That's like if there was a shit list of like, top 10 biggest dropped balls, dude.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
In video games.
Barrett Courtney
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Drop balls Workshop for. They definitely dropped.
Andy Cortez
That's a real big shit list. Drop balls.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Dropped balls in the. But yeah, I think. I think not capitalizing on the Overwatch like, lore and characters in like, a bigger way is like the biggest because the cinematics were so awesome and those are just like animated, you know, three, three to five minute things. But, like, that fueled us. You know what I mean? That fueled us.
Andy Cortez
They were so high quality. We're thinking back to the days where every discussion that I was having about overalls when it was just an obsession of mine, was like, holy crap. Can you imagine a Netflix animated show? Can you. Like, back when, like, you know, streaming was at. Not quite as large as it is now, when there wasn't like, a million streaming service, it was like, oh, my God, if Netflix did some sort of animated show, that would be so amazing. And it really does feel like whenever we talk about the Overwatch world, that is the. That is a massive part of it, because I've. I think Overwatch is based on what a lot of people have been telling me. Overwatch is in a really good state with gameplay and with Community and kind of feeling like, oh, things are feeling awesome again. Right? The. The sort of move back to 6v6 and all of that. It feels like, you know, they're starting to get momentum back. Oh, yes and no.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Okay.
Andy Cortez
I know that the 6v6 thing was still, like, being tested a whole lot, but it. Based on what everybody's been mentioning, it feels like Overwatch is finally kind of, like, taking the turn for the better.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Interesting.
Andy Cortez
I'm sure Chad will kind of. Yeah. Hero Bands and comp is amazing. That's another massive thing.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. 66 is a permanent mode. Yeah. Permanent game mode.
Andy Cortez
And they're taking cues from League of Legends and all these other competitive games where now you can ban heroes, which is, like, massive, because whenever somebody's way too meta and way too op, you ban that dude immediately at the start of a match. And now that team can't play. So, like, all of those things, they're finally taking these cues from a lot of these other competitive games. And it really feels like there's a real nice upward swing of momentum. The lore stuff would be amazing to get back to.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, I'm. Dude, the fact that. Can you believe Overwatch 1 came out nine years ago? It's been that long.
Andy Cortez
And I tell you, it's real high on my 100 top 100.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
I mean, I think it's real high online and, like, it's been that long, and they never were able to take full advantage of that. Like, that breaks my heart because I. Like, we're in an era where everything is getting adapted. Every video game possible. We got a fucking split fiction movie coming with Sydney Sweeney, and we can't get a fucking Overwatch movie.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Like, what is going on?
Andy Cortez
It's so. It's so ripe. It's so perfect. And we've already. We're not even talking for. For nobody. For people in the chat who have not watched any of these cinematics I'm not talking. Oh, it's cool to see this video game character brought to life in an animation and just the novelty of how cool that is. I'm talking like these are Pixar level at when they were at the top of their game. These are like amazing storytelling wise.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
And I think Overwatch, even in the video game, the characters had such personality and charm and like I think we could have a whole podcast talking about how much Overwatch changed the game. Like, you know, hanging out in the. I'll call it the pre game area and like mercy talking to another character or Lucio doing his thing and like the amount of different like, like, you know, vibrant like designs and colors and like how they would talk and the character and like the animated. Animated kind of like energy of it. There's so much going here and like I'm like, this could have been a Pixar movie. You know what I mean? Like this could have been something along those lines.
Andy Cortez
We should be.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It still could probably.
Andy Cortez
We should be looking like right now in an alternate universe timeline, you and me on this show. We're talking about how Part 3 is in development right now.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Oh my God.
Andy Cortez
The movie part, you know, like the, the final part in the trilogy is in development. Oh my God, these, these shirts are so amazing. I would say the Overwatch 2 short is one of those that I showed to Tim and he was like, oh man, I watch that shit. I don't even give a damn about Overwatch. But at the end of this, it is like full Avengers style, like, you know, on your left type style. Goosebumps, you know, like the hype that they bring is amazing. Yeah, I would love to see them get back to more of that lore.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Story number four. Capcom shares a first look at Resident Evil Survival Unit, a mobile strategy game. This is Jordan Midler at Video Games Chronicle. Capcom has shared the first look at Resident Evil Survival Unit. The strategy game, which is coming to mobile later this year, will star Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield and Jill Valentine. Resident Evil Survival Unit is being developed by Joy City, who did 3 on 3, freestyle rebound and Aniplex, who did Demon slayer, the Hinokami Chronicles 2. Both developers will work in close collaboration with Capcom. Set in a parallel universe, the game presents an original storyline that builds upon the Resident Evil world while diverging from the original series, according to Capcom. Quote, players will enjoy a deep, immersive strategy experience that blends real time decision making with the thrill of survival, end quote. The game will also feature base building mechanics and Appearances from other Resident Evil favorites, like the weapons vendor. There needs to be a term. I need like help with a term or phrase to describe the phenomenon of companies biggest IPs just being, I guess, adapted so much that like, you have more bad entries than good entries. You know what I mean? Because like, maybe that's a bad Jurassic Park. Yeah. But I feel like for video games, right? Like, I feel like Resident Evil, even though Resident Evil, I'll put it like this.
Andy Cortez
Has massive amounts of bangers.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yes. I'll put it like this, right? Capcom, they're a banger factory. They put out bangers for days. Even when they put out a miss, it's still pretty dope. You know what I mean? Like, they can put out Exo Primal and I can still be like, hey, but that shit's kind of fire though, you know? Like, it underwhelmed. It kind of came and went. Right. But like, that was kind of cool. They could put out Kunitsugami and it had to be a thing of like. No, but like, it's still kind of a cult classic.
Andy Cortez
It's actually a really good video game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's actually a really good video game. But then when it comes to Resident Evil, like, obviously the mainline and Resident Evil games nowadays are great, but then they have like these side Pro Reverse, right? This Resident Evil mobile strategy game, like any Resident Evil multiplayer game in the last decade and a half, that's like utterly like, not to Capcom standards. I. I feel like there's a word for. Because I like, I look at like Sonic the Hedgehog is kind of the same way with less quality mainline entries. But you get what I mean. Pokemon, like Pokemon has gotten so good and so popular then now, like, its popularity is kind of tainted.
Andy Cortez
What would the bad ones be in Pokemon?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Scarlet. I guess Pokemon doesn't have like that many bad ones. But I feel like as Pokemon, like even. What was the one before Scarlet? Pokemon Legends. Arceus. I know people liked it, but that was like a damn. This kind of runs like kind of.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, but I wouldn't say that. I think you're inviting some demons into your. Into your bedroom. If you're talking about, you know that negatively about Pokemon. I mean, I would watch your ass.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
You're right.
Andy Cortez
I would be careful right there. Because a lot. Because I think Sword. I think Scarlet and you know, Violet and Arceus were, you know, just victims of bad hardware and rushed timelines. But I think at their core, they're still good video games. I think Resident Evil is in a different. Maybe we just Call it like you're getting Raccoon City. You're getting the, you're getting. No, never mind. That's, that's probably too dirty. I was going to say Cap.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Capcom. Capcom.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Yeah. But you're definitely right. There are a lot of IP that get punished by like, I, these are very degrees.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Maybe, maybe this is me, this, maybe this is my point falling apart a bit. But like, I even look at Horizon like zero dawn, which isn't like, it's not like Horizons had like terrible entries, But I think PlayStation looks at Horizon is like, all right, this is the popular one that like sold million, sold.
Andy Cortez
Millions of VR and Lego.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So yeah, let's put it in VR, let's put it in lego, let's make a multiplayer thing. And like people are underwhelmed by all this.
Andy Cortez
Yeah. Like, the multiplayer games can be.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
So when you're so popular that you're forced to have spin offs that suck, like, that's the point I'm making.
Andy Cortez
Okay. Okay.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
When you're so popular that like you have other games released in your franchise that start taking down the entire quality of it.
Andy Cortez
YouTube comments. I would love, I would love for the best suggestions because I, you know, I look at my, I look at myself. Blessing. I'm kind of like a marketing genius, you know.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
You know, I have, you know, great puns, great wordplay, but I'm kind of blanking right now. I would love to come up with it. I would love to help you come up with this term.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
It's like, you know, if I'm looking at wrestling, because I've been watching a lot of wrestling a lot in the last year. You know what I mean? There's like the story of Roman Reigns. Actually this is kind of backwards because Roman Reigns started off as like, people hated him and then got better. Maybe Jey uso, where Jey uso was like really fun to watch and people love Jey uso, but then they put the championship belt on him and people turned on him.
Andy Cortez
I feel like you get exposed when you're, when you're getting too much face time.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
There's too much face time.
Andy Cortez
Over saturation, over franchise cap cucked, overexposed. Raccoon shitty.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Raccoon shitty is good. I mean, I, I, I guarantee Dundancy is pretty fun.
Andy Cortez
I guarantee you there's a lot of other IP that are like this, but Resident Evil, I definitely think you're right in that this is one that I think of the most. Like, if this were a kind of beauty question.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Or if this was some sort of game showdown question. You're like contestants. What's an ip that was so good. They inevitably started making a bunch of.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
Like products based on it.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah.
Andy Cortez
I would say Resident Evil.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Resident Evil would be one of those.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Resident Evil. I'll have to think hard about some of these. These other ones.
Andy Cortez
Yeah.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Because, like, then you had to imply that it was good to start with. So I want to say Sonic. Which Sonic? The first three Sonics, I think, are objectively, like, those are great games. And then you kind of tank a little bit and then stay that way for decades. Yeah, we'll think on this. Mad Rocks. In chat earlier, I said, you know, I was watching a lot of wrestling. It said a lot of wrestling. You know, quote a lot of wrestling. Just WWE off Mad Ross. That's like me. I can say, like, I've been playing a lot of video games. They're all Nintendo games. It's still in video games. Also, they're watching.
Andy Cortez
Been watching a lot of basketball. Oh, but you haven't been watching the Australian League.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's the biggest thing. What am I supposed to do, Andy? Resident Evil Survival Unit doesn't feel like one of them big Resident Evil.
Andy Cortez
It sure doesn't. Bless.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
But if I wanted something small just like it, say the tiniest news I wanted to know about, where would I go?
Andy Cortez
You'd go to our last story, the Wii News Channel, where we cover all the small news items you need to know about.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Last story is we news. Helldivers 2 control group war bond launches July 17th and Earthian console release has been delayed to September. And that is it for WE Sweet. The Wii WE News day. Let's hop into kind of funny dot com. You're wrong. Cabaz writes in and says for clarity, a long, long time ago. Sorry, a long time ago. In a galaxy far, far away. It's meant to be like the fairy tale Once upon a time. A similar vague phrase that implies the following story could have happened. Kebabs. That's not what we're asking. No, that's not what we're asking. Kebabs. I appreciate it, but no, thank you.
Andy Cortez
Super chat here from Dennis Dimambro says I'm a few days late for my birthday tax and kind of funny, stopped working. I really hate that this is mandatory. Thank you, Dennis, for your 10. Super chat.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Happy birthday.
Andy Cortez
Happy belated birthday. Hope you had a lovely birthday.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Luke writes in and says, crafton can kick rocks. I sadly unwished it. Unwish listed Subnautica 2 and ignored all their games listed on Steam. The worst part was that many of those games looked great. Vote with your wallet people.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, Subnautica too, man. I mean it was me. And when me and Mike did our games cast, we did a blind ranking of games that are coming out for the rest of 2025. This is before the delay happened. And you know, I gave Barrett a list of like 40 games that are coming out and he only was random. He random in a randomized order, gave us 10 and Subnautica 2 popped up and I was like, man, I'm really looking forward to this game. And now I'm like, fuck that. Like things better be made right or else, you know, I'll go play something else because a lot of other shit to play.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Yeah. Also people in chat pointing out that I said we we news. It's pretty funny. Guitar Hero Arrow says read the intro combo. There is a Legends comic where Han crashes on earth and Indiana Jones later discovers the wreck. Chewie is the genesis of Bigfoot. Don't they have Christmas in Star Wars? Was there a Star Wars Christmas special?
Andy Cortez
They have a Jesu Cristo. That's crazy. I didn't know that. Five dollar super chat from Alex with no message. Just a five dollar super chat. Thank you. Thanks for supporting us. Keeping the lights and the mics on.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Snug says those are some huge balls to drop. But if I wanted small balls to drop where I go in, why don't.
Andy Cortez
We revere the big D?
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Andy. JB Benefit Bonifacio. Thank you. I just like fucking struck into that one. I hope that more people get exposed to new jobs as a result of Yote's Watanabe mode. I hope so too. New job is and J Dilla are like my two go to's for like I just need music to put on in the background that should chill me out. Goats rip both of them.
Andy Cortez
Samson L with a five dollar super chat. And I'm glad I wasn't just talking out of my ass because Samson L is a. I met Samson L on an Overwatch League event. Took a photo with me. He was a fan of blanking on the name of the team but they were green and blue and I was a Dallas Fuel fan. We burned blue and he says Overwatch 2 is the best it's ever been. Now I'm a laps fan but enjoying it again. Oh yeah, he says also Andy, we met at the LA Valley in homesand yeah, I remember that.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Who was that?
Andy Cortez
Blue and green team chat. Let me know. Vancouver Titans that's who they were.
Blessing Adeoye Jr.
Titans.
Andy Cortez
Yeah, I love that.

Kinda Funny Gamescast: Why You Should Play Animal Crossing in 2025
Release Date: July 11, 2025
In the latest episode of the Kinda Funny Gamescast, titled "Why You Should Play Animal Crossing in 2025," hosts Blessing Adeoye Jr., Andy Cortez, and Kevin Coelho dive deep into some of the most pressing topics in the gaming world. From the turbulent developments surrounding Subnautica 2, ongoing disputes with Krafton, to the evolving landscape of Overwatch 2, and a sneak peek into a new Resident Evil game, this episode offers a comprehensive analysis for avid gamers and enthusiasts alike.
The episode opens with a heated discussion about the recent turmoil between Krafton and the developers of Subnautica 2, Unknown Worlds.
Blessing Adeoye Jr. sets the stage by referencing an IGN article:
“[...] Krafton issuing a lengthy public statement today accusing the studio's leaders of having abandoned responsibilities on the game, alleging they focused on personal projects rather than fulfilling their contracted roles.” (12:49)
Andy Cortez draws parallels to sports contracts, highlighting the potential misuse of contractual clauses to deny substantial bonuses:
“This happens so much in sports. Blessing the amount of times that there are players that, that are so close to a contract... sometimes owners... will be like, we're not going to put you in.” (14:15)
The hosts dissect Krafton’s statement, pointing out the skepticism surrounding the alleged $250 million bonus intended for the studio’s executives, which was reportedly jeopardized due to leadership issues and delays in the game's release.
Kevin Coelho provides additional context:
“Takes place 20,000 years after present time and 10,000 years after they have this, like, giant, basically an AI robot uprising that they quell.” (08:34)
Charlie Cleveland, one of the ousted leads, took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction, announcing a lawsuit against Krafton for breach of contract:
“Subnautica has been my life's work and I would never willingly abandon it...” (18:34)
The discussion underscores the possible exploitation by Krafton to withhold bonuses by citing project delays, drawing a stark image of corporate greed affecting passionate developers. The hosts empathize with the Unknown Worlds team, advocating for fair compensation and justice.
Transitioning from corporate disputes, the conversation shifts to Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch 2.
Blessing Adeoye Jr. introduces the issue:
“Overwatch is in a really good state with gameplay and with Community... the lore stuff would be amazing to get back to.” (39:28)
Kevin Coelho summarizes a recent IGN report:
“Overwatch 2 game director Aaron Keller has addressed criticisms that Blizzard Entertainment dropped the ball when it comes to things like story content, PvE, and animated shorts.” (32:15)
Keller's acknowledgment of the shortcomings in story-driven content leads to a broader discussion on the importance of narrative in enhancing a game's universe. The hosts reminisce about the engaging animated shorts that once fueled the game's popularity and express disappointment over their decline.
Andy Cortez emphasizes the lost potential:
“They were so high quality... It could have been a Pixar movie.” (41:51)
The conversation reflects a collective yearning for Blizzard to reinvigorate Overwatch 2's storytelling elements, suggesting that without a strong narrative, even the best gameplay mechanics can lose their luster.
Shifting gears, the hosts delve into Capcom's latest project, Resident Evil Survival Unit, a mobile strategy game.
Blessing Adeoye Jr. presents the news:
“Capcom has shared the first look at Resident Evil Survival Unit... Set in a parallel universe, the game presents an original storyline that builds upon the Resident Evil world while diverging from the original series.” (42:28)
The game features beloved characters like Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine, promising a blend of real-time decision-making and survival thrill. Developed in collaboration with Joy City and Aniplex, the mobile adaptation aims to expand the Resident Evil universe beyond traditional platforms.
However, the hosts express mixed feelings about the proliferation of spin-offs:
“When you're so popular that you're forced to have spin-offs that suck... That's the point I'm making.” (46:31)
They debate the fine line between expanding an IP and diluting its quality, using Resident Evil as a prime example of how extensive franchising can lead to inconsistent game experiences.
The episode is peppered with interactive segments where Blessing and Andy engage with their audience through Super Chats. Notable contributions include:

As the episode draws to a close, the hosts pivot to future content, teasing an upcoming stream:

They outline their plans to feature Gia Geddes in a collaborative session to build and customize her island, emphasizing the communal and creative aspects of Animal Crossing.
