Adrian is stuck in Thailand in a. Well, he's not stuck in Thailand, he is in Thailand, but he's stuck in a. In a. He's kind of gone on an eco retreat, which I was wondering whether we'd see him in a straight jacket or something, but just a normal T shirt. But he's there. And we bring you the latest on Mykonos, on Road to Pro, on Stig and Heels, new video and yeah, that's about it, really, for this one. Enjoy it.
B
Catastrophic equipment failure.
A
Going for the boogaloo double just to get the landing.
B
Had a couple of strings and it was extremely dangerous. Guys, I found the trap and it is gold for Ellie Aldridge and gold for Great Britain.
A
Absolutely. Absolutely. Adrian.
B
Dude, bro. Have a look at what I'm living in. Look at that. That's a. Just a hole. That's just a hole to the wild.
A
So, viewers, Adrian has gone to. What would you describe it as? Is it a retreat?
B
Torture, mate. I've gone to the other people. Well, I've gone to do a permaculture course and.
A
Which is what?
B
Which is like learning how to sort of live in harmony with the land and. Yeah, just like reduce, reduce, recycle and try and live a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle. Anyway, the state of me, number one, I look disgusting. I smell disgusting. The most funniest part is that every day you have to do what's called Aseva, which is a day time of service. And at the very start of the week, I said, guys, listen, on the Wednesday I need to make some money record. And guess what I'm missing out on? Shoveling the. Out of the composting toilet.
A
Yes. I'm glad, so glad we could facilitate that for you.
B
But let me just tell you some of the things I've been doing because I've been writing list. I've been pooing in a bucket. Number one, I've been washing with a bucket. Number two, I've been. No different buckets. There's a lot of buckets around here. Vegetarian diet, which I'm kind of slightly enjoying. But the funny thing about vegetarian food is you don't need to poop so much. I feel like the body loves it. Opposed to the other stuff I eat that says get out of me. I've been making compost. I'm a compost expert. I've been picking up cow, I've been feeding chickens and ducks and yeah, right now I'm have escaped the. Dude, there's no AC. It's about 35 degrees. It's brutally hot and everyone's having a good time.
A
Oh, mate,
B
so funny that you're doing this.
A
I love it.
B
The first day when you sit down here, you know, there's a lot of people from different walks of life and it's a, a real blending of diversity. You know, they ask you to sit down and say, hey, why are you interested in this? Why have you come? And I was straight up, I said this wasn't my idea, but I'm here, but I'm here to enjoy. And I, I honestly, I must admit, I have enjoyed. It's maybe realize that this is a lifestyle that you have to be very dedicated to and I'm not that person. I do think that some of it is practical, but the composting toilet stuff is interesting, let's put it that way. Very interesting.
A
And do you think you'll be continuing this lifestyle in Mykonos? Will you be teaching ways to compost in Greece?
B
No, the composting stuff is cool as actually, but absolutely not. I don't think any of you guys want to know or would like to smell me the way I am right now. So I'll definitely come wash. And the thing is, you can't even. Here's the thing, when you go to the shower, you can't just use normal soaps. You've got to use soaps that are good for the environment. And soaps that are good for the environment aren't great at cleaning. Let's be honest. That's why hippies always smelled. You know, there's always a distinct, distinct waft of some, you know, like a plant or something. Oh, we, we made this with the eucalyptus. Oh, awesome. I just want to be clean. But anyway, yeah, Mykonos around the corner. Dude, I had a good look this morning at the weather forecast. I'm a little bit worried. Looking good? No, it's looking terrible. It's looking very sweaty.
A
And that's not why we'll be running the world Championships of sandcastles.
B
Yeah, well, it might be. It might be just a one class event with all everyone sonic fives at
A
the same card playing card structures.
B
It's gonna have to be something that everyone can do. But yeah, it's. And the only reason I, I mentioned that as I was speaking to Baby Shark this morning and he's obviously in our Dominican replay with Leo and Lorenzo Bike and Kite Fest, which also is no wind. And all three of those boys are very, very worried about the conditions. And Baby Shark even said to me, look, if it doesn't really the wind doesn't look like. Forecast doesn't come. He's not going to go purely for the fact that he doesn't want to spend the money if it's. If he doesn't have to have to do it. Doesn't.
A
None of us do.
B
Very, very interesting. So I'm hoping that the weather forecast kicks in. Even up to the last few days, it's still blowing from the south, which is not the direction they want. They obviously want the Maltini which blows from the north. So.
A
Hang on, agent, agent, just quick, quick staff portrait meeting.
B
Sure.
A
What are we going to do if it's not windy? Have we paid for the accommodation? We're going to work in cash. No, we're paying in cash there.
B
No. Well, we've got things to do. You and I have got some heavy recording schedules to do with the boys, so we do have some work to do.
A
Yeah, but if they're not there, we can't do it.
B
I think they'll come.
A
You think the big dogs will be there?
B
Yeah, I think the big dogs will go, yeah. Yeah, for sure. In, in the spot. Just a little bit of update from Mykonos last week I actually had made a little bit of mistake. So final 24th spot which is a wild card. Baptiste Bordeaux said it's not fair that they give it to him. So they're going to do a write off between George Quintus, Philippus Tomontanus, Maxime Gullis and Baptiste Bordolis. So the winner will get that spot, but they must fly into the Greek flag. So even though Baptiste is French, he's been in Greece all his life. So there will be a Greek rider in the men's fleet, which is super cool and actually a real testament to Baptiste. You know, he could just say I want it, but I love the fact that he's said, hey man, let's, let's ride offer. I think that's, I think that's admirable.
A
Very, very. I look forward to seeing which of those three has the best sandcastle.
B
Yeah, yeah. At this rate. At this rate, Yeah. I mean, what are they going to do? What if it see there is some wins, like 15 to 20, 15 to 25. What.
A
I mean, what would they do from the south though?
B
No, the wind does swing to the north at multimi starting. I can only see up to the 17th at the moment. You know, my forecast over the next few days, it will come a bit more clear, but there is only a six day window and they need, well, they need two full days of good win to get this done if it's light when they might need three days. So we're really, really, really cutting into the schedule here. And I'm sure the, the GKA and the local organizers are fretting over that and looking. But what are they going to do? Do you think we're going to see the foil kites go out there in, in marginal conditions? And if so, who's that going to favor?
A
Yeah, it would come to that, wouldn't it? I guess it's going to favor Jamie Overbeak and Finn Flugel.
B
Hugo.
A
Hugo Wigglesworth. Yeah. Who else is great on foil kites, Luca?
B
Jason. There's a, there's a bunch of guys who use it for training now. It's, it's become a. You know, it's almost like those guys. I think Jason was saying to us when we were in Japan, he's like,
A
anyone using them in the women's.
B
Don't know. But Jason was saying, I, I have a 7, 8, 9, and then after that I just use 4 kite. So it is becoming a very important part of the quiver for a lot of those guys. And you see it in, you see it in Blue Lagoon. You see it everywhere now on the ladies side, I don't know. That's.
A
Oh, well.
B
Giselle Polito.
A
True. And she is a four kite whisperer from all our racing. Yeah. Now, Adrian, did you sit down and watch Heel and Stig's Patagonia video? Or have you been too, too deep in. In the compost?
B
Yes and yes. I've only seen up the first half. I've just seen when they got to that glacier and when the shot comes up, when that glacier's on it, it's like, whoa, it's crazy. Beautiful shot. You in the mold of, you know, some hidden line. Yeah, yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's beautifully shot. And, and this is sort of very much in the way Stig likes to shoot stuff.
A
You know, Stig is always Andy Troy. Yeah, he's outdone himself here.
B
Very, very high quality. And that's sort of, it's sort of the same sort of qualities as in, in the nationals as well. Sort of that same high level production. Yeah, just beautifully shot. It is really sick.
A
Yeah. And it looked very cold, but, yeah, a good watch, I thought. Adventurous, mighty adventurous.
B
That's big from you. You're not normally a big, big watcher of that.
A
I don't tend to watch kite videos, Adrian. I mean, I tend to make them. But on this special, I Made a special. Special departure from usual routine because our good friend Heal had gone on. Gone on holiday with his friend Stig and. Yeah, go and watch it.
B
It's worth.
A
It's worth watching, guys. Worth watching.
B
What did you think of Nash House? Forget about the whole Nash House. Let's just go to the most important part. Did you see Stig jumping off the top of misty cliffs?
A
Yeah. Did you see Matisse's little face?
B
Yeah. I like when he says to me, only if you feel comfortable. Only feel. Now, I've never seen a guy launch a kite and pull down that hard that the. The, you know, the, the floats were on his knees. That's how hard he was trying to get that kite in the air, mate. Stiggers. It's very impressive that actually, if you listen to the interview that Stig says when he pulls that first heli loop. Did you see how crazy he gets thrown around the rotation and like he's getting all thrown away. That's because he was flying merry go round. Yeah, because he's flying backwards. No, because the kite's going backwards. So when he went to do the loop, it sunk further into the power zone and the kite was almost facing down and it sort of flicked him out of like a look. It's the type of shit that would scare most people to death. But Stick is just. And he's. As he said, I've jumped off a million things and done a million loops and just his experience and there's not. I think he might be the only guy in the industry who would do that.
A
I agree. On that day, doing that. He's the only guy in the. Do that and do it with. And you watch it and you'd have confidence that he'd be able to do it. I think there'd be some idiots who would try it. But we're sticking like. Yeah, yeah, he's. He's gonna stick it.
C
I don't know if the camera does justice, but that is high.
B
How high is it?
C
400 meters or something? 380 meters. So by the time he takes off, you'll probably be a good 350 meters above sea level.
B
It feels like there's absolutely no window.
C
It's coming from all places because there's occasional pop. There's a lot of breath, like nothing. You can see my hair dead still. But up there it should be pretty strong.
D
The wind is fine,
B
I think so
E
Normal Monday at the office.
D
What are we doing tomorrow? If this is the start of the week?
B
Table Mountain.
D
Table Mountain. Be careful what you're saying we think it's best to pump the kite after I change so it doesn't touch the ground or any rocks or can get potentially damaged.
B
Check this like a million times.
A
Yeah, million one
B
here in Medirena
E
aboard Sketchy winds. We're gonna try and lunge from somewhere else before. Yeah. Jumping 400 meters. So let's do that. Only if you feel it.
A
Right.
B
Yeah. I mean, stickers. You know, he's been a podium finisher at the cold Hawaii and he's. And the king of the air. He never really warmed to. Or let's say it this way, maybe the technicality got away from him in the competition so he stepped out of it. But, man, he's managed to keep himself relevant. And that's really tough in the industry. Right. To keep yourself relevant and keep yourself in the industry. And that's tough. I mean, pretty rare to, to be able to keep yourself at that level. And he's done a great job in, in, you know, if you ever get a chance to meet Stick. He's a very calculated guy. I mean, what he's doing is pure calculation. It's not, it's not risk to him.
A
No, no, Indeed, indeed. Well, good on those two. And here's to more adventure videos like that because. Yeah, that was glossy.
B
Nice change, actually, from the old three or four minute release that most people put out.
A
Yeah, indeed.
B
Hey, here's some big news. Aaron and Cat are having a baby.
A
I know, I saw that. Aaron Hadlow, the greatest kiteboarder ever to have lived. And Cat is procreate.
B
Give her credit.
A
And Cat, who doesn't like to have straps on her board, the love is strong enough for Aaron to overlook that, to put that to one side, put their differences aside and, and yeah, we're going to be blessed with a little hat, though. Mini Hadlow. We wish, we wish them well.
B
Yeah. I kind of hope it's a little girl so we can, we can do, you know, little Jacobs versus little Hadlow in a bit of freestyle comp in the future.
A
Yes, yes.
B
Look, it's, it's an awesome time because, you know, in most sports people have babies and move on and, you know, people have kids and still compete. And I'm sure there's people out there who have kids that competed, but for us, the sport is so young. We're sort of getting to that sort of. I know there was the older generation, you know, the, the people before, but this, this Aaron Hadlow and Kevin and this is the age where we're sort of seeing the families, you know, we're seeing these young guys. And obviously Kevin competed with his kids. Jesse's had kids, so it's super cool. I don't think I'll be covering the sport when those. When those kids come to fruition. But how cool would that be?
A
That.
B
So do I. I. How cool would that be when we've got, like, you know, you know, the next Jesse, you know, Jesse Richmond's kids? I think it's Aaron's kids, Mark's kids. I think that'd be super cool. And, you know, it's an amazing story for the commentators or people who can tell the stories. That kite. Yeah. Get.
A
Not old enough for this to happen. Yeah.
B
You. You imagine the pressure on Headlow's kid. Can he. Can. Can. It's like. It's like being Pele's kid. You're doomed. It's like being Michael Jordan's kid or Magic's kid. You're absolutely doomed. You cannot ever perform to your father's level. I don't think a son's ever outperformed his champion father. It's almost impossible.
A
I imagine my son will struggle with the same.
B
But in tennis or kiteboarding or both.
A
I was thinking, or creation, maybe, in ability to write. Come up with funny nicknames for people.
B
Drop. Give me a few. Give us a few of your latest creation.
A
When it comes to nicknames, well, we've obviously got the legendary Steezy Pete. I came up with that. And then I came up with Steezy Wonder for Tom Bridge. I came up with that. I came up with both of those.
B
Everything starts with Stacy.
A
Not all of them. And then, actually there's some people in Falmouth in Cornwall, where I've been living, and they make a. A special fish soup I often have for lunch. And it's a traditional French soup called a Bulla base agent. And it's two. Two blokes that make it. So I've nicknamed them the Bulla Babes.
B
There you go. The Bull of Babes. Yeah.
A
Which is, I think you'll agree, is quite a departure from the Steezy, sort of.
B
Well, we've got other nicknames, like that nickname we have for Keena, you know, shit for brains. No, we love you. We love you, Keena. I see Keener's stuck in Dahab at the moment. I don't know what's happened to him. I might have to reach out to him, find out what he's. What he's doing. Baby shark jumps off that pole and gets, you know, 70 million views three and a half million likes, whatever it is. Those other numpties try to jump off at 200 likes, no views. Keena jumps off it on fire, gets a million views. Keener, yeah, he climbed up there and they lit him on fire and he jumped off into the sea and just dunked in and. Yeah, so go and check. I don't know if it's on Kenya's media or on lighting yourself on fire. And doing has been done for years. I don't know if it's been done in kiteboarding, actually, but check out Keener's media or Tamed media, one of those.
A
Keena is a videographer that we frequent to. To hire to film our kite boarding.
B
I think he's building a bit of a name for himself. He's the next generation of creators under us. A couple generations under me, one under you, three under me.
A
Excellent. I say bring them on.
B
Hey, did you see Mikaela Soul out there training? Have you seen any of Mika's posts?
A
Yeah. Epic, isn't it?
B
Did you notice what she was writing?
A
I don't know if I did see the kite.
B
Yeah, she was. She's on the D Lab Rebel, which is a distinct change for her because she has been riding that 23 Evo D Lab Evo for a long time. And really, really a job with that kite. So interesting to see her going to the Rebel, ripping the osmosis, looking great, putting the rotations with board offs.
A
Yeah, I mean, the osmosis was sick.
B
Yeah.
A
I mean, it has to be the first female osmosis. I think that's osmosis with a board. Yeah. So you chuck the board up. Well, you let go of the board, you rotate and catch the board on the other side of you with the same hand.
B
Don't think I've seen any other females doing that. So I'm gonna say it's. I don't. I wouldn't get away from these. It's a world first. It's a world first. It's making me crazy. Too many world firsts. But yeah, look. And it's in. It looks like it's in lighter winds. Looks like it's not crazy wins. But, you know, looking at the conditions, if they do try to push on, look, I think. I don't think they're going to send the ladies out if they can't run the men. I mean, if it's 20 to 25 knots, the GK might say, you guys have got to go.
A
Yeah, you gotta.
B
You gotta write it. You know, we're here, there's a lot of money being spent on the local side. Let's get this done.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they could. We could foresee that, couldn't we?
B
But for the girls, I think if it's 20 to 25, I think the girls can get away. I mean, we're talking about this, mate. Holy shit. I wake up the morning, it might be a bloody ripping forecast come through. But, yeah, that's going to. That's going to favor, you know, ladies on bigger kites and. But I think the men are going to struggle. I think the men are going to struggle on. On just a normal lei. I think we'll see a lot of Sonics out there for that, for that, for that setup, if that's what's going to happen. But interesting to hear Baby Shark saying that if it's not going to be super windy. He doesn't mind me saying this. He might not even turn up just because of the financial constraint. And he's not the first person. Actually. A lot of people I've been speaking to, I've been struggling to find accommodation, if so trying to deal with the price and trying to justify, you know, trying, you know, a lot of people want to go early there, but they're finding it so expensive, they're almost just turning up just to compete and get out of there. So I'm hoping that. Yeah, I'd love to see this a regular spot, but, you know, maybe that's something they need to. Maybe need something they need to look into in the future by subsidizing combination or something. I don't know. Or renting a school out or something to see everyone can doss down the old, old, old. Sleep on the floor in a school
A
situation, you know, sure, surely in the school hall. Why not the gymnasium mats?
B
Bring your yoga mat. Stretch in the morning, sleep at night.
A
Lovely, Lovely little stretch.
B
Just garros for breakfast, girls for dinner.
A
Sounds like we should open this and charge them. Let's profiteer off this.
B
Tell you what, if you want to make some money, Mykonos is the spot. That's for sure. Mykonos is the spot.
A
So we've got to actually cut this podcast short because we're having a phone call with Wu about an interesting project that we're looking to shoot in Mykonos involving some new technology. And what else can we say about it? What can we legally say?
B
Well, we could probably say the writer. We can probably say the writer.
A
We're wanting Jet Bradshaw to come and do it, and we're very much wanting to Build upon what we managed to do with him last year, which is where we put him on a slingshot. Fuel.
B
If you ever want someone to bring energy to a project, jets, the man, you know, he just comes down and he, he just delivers every time. And if you haven't seen that, check it out. It is absolutely crazy.
A
I mean, pinned on our Instagram.
B
Yeah. Oh, yeah, it's on the Instagram. The amount of adrenaline coming off this kid, it's infectious to all of us. Number one. And there's, by the way, there's on this Lorenzo and these and Jeremy on the beach and they're like, I ain't doing that. I'm not going out on that. That's how crazy it was. You actually had, you know, the world champion and the previous world champion saying, I don't want to go in the water. I'm not going out. So, yeah, real testament to the type of that jets prepared to do.
A
I haven't been on YouTube since putting that Road to Prayer episode one up. Just logging in now. Should we have a look at the comments
B
while you look at that? Have you been keeping up to date on your fantasy streak?
A
Oh, blimey. I haven't been doing mine. Damn it.
B
I know, I know. It's. I've kind of slipped the ball here. We'll be recording next week the Fantasy Mykonos podcast with Rolly. And I know that German's been on every single day and he's gonna have all the cards. He's gonna beat me. He did say to me before, after we recorded that update show, he said, adrian, you're not going to beat me. It's impossible. I'm too dedicated to this. And at the time I said, you're dreaming. But he's right. The second the competition started, I realized I'm going to lose. I know, guys, there has been a few little technical blips on that fantasy, but stuff that we are working on. So just keep this Christians coming in? Yeah, some people.
A
Are those from me?
B
Well, it's, it's just coming through on, on. On the social media side or through the, through the customer service. But it's stuff we're working on. The main point system is working perfectly well. Get out there, trade up, do some training. Make sure you train your riders. If you've lost some power, you want to strengthen, you can train those riders against other people. Keep your streaks alive. If you can do a seven day streak, you get a free rare card. It's, it's, it's all there. Just keep checking in every single day. And the system's going to map. The more you check in, the more power you're going to have, the more you're going to kick your mate's ass, you know, form your own little clubs and enjoy it because we've got some great prizes for the end of the year. It's only a single year prize. This time we're not doing an Evently prize because just. I was just getting slightly out of control.
A
It was too hectic. It was too hectic. Guys, we gotta go. But episode two of Road to Pro season one is coming or tomorrow. We're recording this on Wednesday, but it's Thursday. When you're listening to this, it'll be out on Thursday. Enjoy episode two. Lots of you enjoyed episode one. Kind of weird releasing something that, you know, our core audience have already seen. It's kind of strange to put that online, but that's what we're doing. So episode two is out. We got to go right now. We got a meeting right now. Goodbye. Thank you to us, as always. Bye.
