What's going on, Podcast family. My name is Michael Chernow, and this is the Creatures of Habit podcast. Our habits will make us or they will break us. I've lived on both sides of the tracks and have experienced some of the best and the worst that habits have in store. The decisions we make on a consistent basis truly define who we are as human beings. This episode will be a solo episode where traditionally I interview guests. This is a solo episode where I share with you guys experiences that I've had things that are relevant in my life today that I think could potentially be interesting for you to hear, things that I simply just want to share or quotes or activities that I've done over the last few weeks that have inspired me. Alcohol is poison. It is poison. Doesn't matter if you're an alcoholic or not. Alcohol is poison. And when you drink wreaks havoc on your body. Now, I'm sober. I'm in recovery. I'm obviously biased, but there's not a single doctor on the planet that would tell you drinking alcohol on a regular basis is good for you or actually the exact opposite isn't actually hurting you in a bad way. I haven't had a sip of alcohol in over 20 years. I'm 44, and I feel like I'm 25. Do I think it has to do with my lack of alcohol consumption? Hells yes, it does. I'm not telling you to go sober. I'm not telling you to get, you know, to stop drinking altogether. I'm just telling you that if you. You are in a place in life where you feel a little funky about what's happening, you don't feel inspired, you're kind of lacking motivation, you're not in the shape that you want to be in, you're not able to commit, or things are going really, really well, but you just, like, you know, hate being hungover. It doesn't allow you to be with your friends and family the way you'd like to be. I just would. Would challenge you to take alcohol out of your life for 90 days, just 90 days. Three months. Stop drinking for three months. Whether you're, you know, whether you drink a few days a week or you drink every weekend hard or you're. I mean, if you're, if you're, if you've got a real alcohol problem, I highly recommend you taking alcohol out of your life first for at least 90 days to see what it's like. But for just any average person who doesn't have an alcohol problem, I would just challenge you to take it out for 90 days and see what happens. And if the thought of not drinking for 90 days scares you or you feel uncomfortable about that, or it makes you. You're not just like, okay, I could try that. Then you gotta think about why that is. Why would not drinking for 90 days make you uncomfortable? Do you have a problem? Do you use alcohol to socially lubricate? Do you feel like it makes you a better person? Because it shouldn't. I know drinking is fun. Trust me, I know drinking is fun. But I have so much fun in my life without alcohol. And I don't make decisions today that I regret because I was under the influence of alcohol. I haven't had a hangover in God knows how long. Alcohol truly is poison, just like all the other drugs. And the fact that it's legal makes it socially acceptable. But alcohol really kills a lot of people. A lot of people. And if it's not killing you, it's certainly not helping you specifically biologically. But the clarity that one gets without having alcohol in their system for a extended period of time is remarkable.
