So by the way, good debate here on the text machine about Frank Franklin. You have a pretty good school. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
As I should.
Matt Jones
You, you have a pretty good approval rating, about 80%. 20% say you're too negative, but that's good. 80% for the, for, for this show is a positive approval.
Drew Franklin
I would love to live in dreamland with those 20 people, but Corey Price told me it has been 17 years since Louisville's had a 20 point lead against Kentucky. So forgive me if I'm a little.
Matt Jones
Out of character trying to think who, what team was that? What team was that 17 years ago? That would have been 2008. That would have been a Billy Clyde team.
Drew Franklin
So, so that's why I'm a little worked up. I'm not used to being down by 20 to move quick.
Matt Jones
Checks out. All right, let's talk about a couple other things here. First of all, I saw a stat. It's. I. I was fascinated by this 60% of Americans. 60%, Shannon. WILL @ some point be in their. In their life, be scammed for at least $11,000.
Shannon Dawson
Wow.
Matt Jones
At least $11,000. So every 60% Americans will be scammed. So I wanted to ask you. Uhhuh. There are only four of us, so it's going to be hard to figure out the percentage. What percentage of people who on this show have any. Have any of you all ever been scammed for at least a thousand dollars? I'm looking at you first, Ryan.
Ryan Lemond
Not a thousand dollars.
Matt Jones
No. Not a. No.
Drew Franklin
That you've been.
Shannon Dawson
You did buy a timeshare. That's thousands of dollars.
Ryan Lemond
I was. I was given a timeshare.
Caller
Okay.
Drew Franklin
But I think that in itself.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Timeshare. It's like I was given a scam. Yeah. So. So you would say, no, not a thousand dollars.
Ryan Lemond
I mean, we went. We talked about on the show that one guy that tried to get me to pay because I missed jury duty. I think that was like 400.
Matt Jones
But you came close on that one.
Ryan Lemond
That one, he scared me. I mean, that one really kind of scared me until he wanted me to pay over the phone immediately. Like, wait a minute.
Matt Jones
I do think ultimately it's mostly really older people that that happens to. What about you?
Ryan Lemond
No.
Drew Franklin
And I get, like three voicemails a day from spam. I don't answer my phone, and I barely check email. So they're trying, but I. I feel it's gonna be hard to penetrate this wall. I'm not paying attention to any of that stuff. There could be real concerns, people trying to reach me, and I ignore them.
Matt Jones
Shannon.
Shannon Dawson
Not that I'm aware of. Unless they just took it out of my bank account and I didn't know about it.
Matt Jones
Well, it depends on what your definition of scam is.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
But lost money in a pretty big thing. That would be what I have. But that was. I. I know it wasn't a scam, but I. I had. I had something go wrong. That was a significant amount of money. It's very frustrating.
Shannon Dawson
I've allowed somebody to bo. Never paid me back.
Matt Jones
It's more of a swindle. I don't know. Yeah. That's what I would say. Mine was more like a swindle. I don't think it was a scam. And I think borrowing money is a different is a different situation. But, but, you know, I, I, I invested in something that was the person. The person ended up being a complete and ended up going to prison.
Shannon Dawson
Seems pretty serious.
Matt Jones
Yeah, so that was, that was frustrating. One of those, that one day I'll tell that story. A pretty fascinating story. But, but yeah, not a scam, but I. 60% was a number that absolutely shocked me, Ryan. And it also tells you how we have to be very careful to protect especially our parent, like our parents and older folks, because it is amazing how successful it looks like people are at doing it.
Shannon Dawson
AI also is going to be a problem in the future too. You know, people not knowing what's real and what's not.
Matt Jones
I mean, you can have that happen if you're not careful. Sometimes I'll see something that's like, ups, please put in your information. This package is blah, blah, blah. And if you hit reply, you'll realize, oh, that's not a UPS email address. You know, that's like, but like, if you first see it, you'd go, well, I need my package, so of course I should do it.
Drew Franklin
That's the most important thing you can do is look at the at after the email. A lot of times it's gibberish, but it'll say Twitter @blah, blah, blah. Like, just make sure it's a real dot com.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, we get a lot of these as Realtors. They try to say we need to pay something for our training and licenses and stuff. And like I drew said, you just punch them who sent it to you and it's at a Gmail address or something like that, you know, or there'll.
Matt Jones
Be one letter difference in the thing. Yeah, you do have to be, you have to be careful.
Drew Franklin
Also, if someone's ever trying to collect and they want your info, say, well, if I owe you, you give me my info. What's my. Because they should know it if it's a real.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I came very close on that once. Had the someone call with the IRS and they were like, you owe X amount of money. And I was like, well, it's conceivable I could owe X amount of money. But they, but then I was reminded the IRS will never ask you for anything on the phone.
Shannon Dawson
Right.
Matt Jones
That's something to rem if you. The irs. Good tip for everyone. The IRS will never ask you for something on the phone. They will do it in. They will never ask for a payment on the phone. And actually they probably will never call you, but they certainly will not ask you for a payment. So that's always something.
Shannon Dawson
I did get an email from the Nigerian prince one time.
Matt Jones
I thought those are usually. Those are usually easier to figure out. Ryan, High school football elite eight this weekend. There are some massive matchups across the state. I think Boyle county plays Highlands. That's a big one. You usually are good at these. Are there any that you stick out for you?
Ryan Lemond
Middlesboro and Pikeville. That's the game of the one doing the night. Tonight isn't over there in Pikeville.
Matt Jones
Well, it is for me, but besides.
Ryan Lemond
That one, I haven't looked. I don't know.
Matt Jones
That's the thing you break. That's you. You're supposed to be Mr. High School. You haven't not looked?
Ryan Lemond
No, I honestly have not looked. I've been so.
Matt Jones
Well, thank you for that. Appreciate you. I think I knew that one. I think Boyle County Highlands is the one with the two highest ranked people. But there for high school football, this is a massive night as all these regional titles go on all around the state. Who's up next? Donnie. Donnie, Go ahead. Donnie.
Caller
Hey, thanks for taking my call. This team's got a bunch of issues. I mean, they're all over the board. The talent isn't that great. You've got role players who are not playing roles. You've got away. Who is not playing for uk, he's playing for NBA. He's got to attack the rim. He's got to do what he did last year, and he's not.
Matt Jones
Yeah. I mean, let me ask you a question, sir. I'm not trying to. But you say that with such confidence. He's playing for the NBA. He's not playing for Kentucky. I'm not even saying necessarily you're wrong, but how do you say that with so much confidence? I mean, do you know him? Like, how would you say that, knowing that's the case?
Caller
I'm saying that as a fan. What I saw last year, what I'm seeing this year, his game is attacking the rim. He's not even looking at the rim this year. That's how I say that. Out of confidence.
Matt Jones
Okay, but I mean, it might be. Could it be the case that. Could it be the case that. That. Could it be the case? That's what Mark Pope's telling him to do? I'm not saying it is, but do you know that that's because he's thinking about the NBA. Okay, it doesn't matter. Okay.
Caller
It doesn't matter. He's not doing what he needs to do for this Kentucky basketball team. He's not a Jump shooter, but he shoots jump shots. If you come into college, you don't have a jump shot, chances are you're not going to get one.
Matt Jones
Well, I don't disagree with you. I appreciate the call. I don't disagree with you that he's not doing what's best for the team. And I don't disagree with you that he's not playing to his strengths. That's where we agree. I think it's probably just a little bit of pet peeve of mine that when guys start to play bad that we then start to assume it's because of their character or it's because of their selfishness. Maybe they're just playing bad, you know, Maybe they're just making the. I don't. Maybe Mark Pope is saying, I need you to. You did this last year. I need you to do this this year. I don't know. But I do know. I do agree, Drew, that he's not doing the things that are his strengths.
Drew Franklin
That's a fact. And even when Frank Franklin was doing his rant a minute ago, he just left, by the way, he kept it on the results. Like, I don't know what's going on in players ears. I know that some haven't gotten better, but I'm not going to speculate on if he's thinking about the NBA because I have no idea. I have no idea what I can see with my eyeballs.
Matt Jones
I will say he doesn't look happy, Ryan. He doesn't look like the more joyful guy last year. And those things are all concerning, and I do worry about it. The guy we've seen in the last five games, we're not going to win very much if he's our best player.
Ryan Lemond
That's right. We said earlier he's got to be the guy. He's got to snap out of whatever funk he's in. Whatever's in between his ears, he's having trouble with. He's got to figure it out.
Matt Jones
You think it's the hair, Shannon?
Ryan Lemond
That's what yoga girl said. Yes.
Matt Jones
I mean, his hair cut all his hair off to look professional. Maybe we needed the hair to be long.
Shannon Dawson
That's right. I need him to look like a basketball player, not a guy that's going to do my taxes for me.
Matt Jones
I will say, oh, yeah, if he had that hair, we'd have like six guys with the same hair.
Ryan Lemond
Sorry.
Matt Jones
And it's already. I really struggle with Johnson and Aberdeen because from afar, they look exactly like from when they're dribbling it up and you only see their back One of them is number one one of them is number two. They have the same hair. They're close to the same side I really struggled rude knowing which one is in the game at a given time.
Drew Franklin
Cam Williams and Aberdeen can kind of look the same too always sometimes it's not just a scoring or his hair I think on defense he has like concrete in his shoes like that Garrison clip I mentioned this before if you go back and watch it yes Garrison is the star of that video but always feet are glued to the floor and he could have helped out and did not so it's an effort not just that the offense isn't giving him.
Matt Jones
Opportunities Let me switch gears for a second let's say we beat Vandy tomorrow what happens then like is this I mean how does this fan base process four straight wins and three straight SEC.
Ryan Lemond
Wins when they're ready to fire him and run him out of town right.
Matt Jones
Before this not just that started all of us I mean let's not this is one I ain't putting on everybody else this show all four members of this show not me that's actually true three of them no you're right you're right you have not given you you were not rate but three of the four including you Ryan said we need a change and it's time for a different coach so I got I love you but you can't they that's a.
Ryan Lemond
We well the scenario we said that was that they lost out I understand.
Matt Jones
But that but we you predicted that's.
Shannon Dawson
Why you play the season that's just.
Matt Jones
Which to be fair to Shannon it's what he said but all three of predicted not only he would be gone but that he would not win these games so again we can't they it's we so what happens then?
Ryan Lemond
Okay we A couple weeks ago we wanted him out of there but now and it won't surprise me if they go down and beat Vanderbilt tomorrow I mean the word trending up I mean that's why the Louisville game's exciting me also because Louisville's trending down and we're trending up Stoops if he pulls this off it's his best coaching job since he's been here better than the 10 win seasons if he was able to pull this off yeah I'm not going.
Matt Jones
That far I mean we we we we look that's what happened we looked pretty bad for a lot of the year and we started Zach Calada I'm I'm not saying. But it will be kind of a rise from the dead.
Drew Franklin
Oh, absolutely.
Ryan Lemond
No doubt. The turnaround will be his best coaching job.
Shannon Dawson
Imagine you beat Vandy in your scenario then you beat Louisville. You've got a seven win team who's going to a bowl game and if you win that, you got eight, you get eight.
Matt Jones
It would be amazing. I mean it would be amazing.
Shannon Dawson
It's not crazy.
Matt Jones
It is. Part of the reason I'm focusing on we Drew is everyone wrote him off. It wasn't like a few people did. Pretty much everybody if we're honest. How many of you wrote him off after the 2 and 5 start? I did a poll at whiskey fee.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And two people held up their hand that they still wanted him to be the coach. 2. So it would be Drew, a pretty miraculous turnaround if they're able to win Saturday. I don't know. I mean we're nine and a half point favorite so I'm not acting like we're definitely going to win but it would be a pretty amazing turnaround.
Drew Franklin
And this is going to sound like I'm taking credit from him but Cutter Bowley, man, it's not a one person sport. But this is in my eyes all on him. There's the complete, you know, we're flipping switches in basketball. He flipped a switch because it's not just what he's doing. You see it on the players around him. You see it on the sideline. These guys like each other. They like Stoops. And when Bowley took over it's something completely changed and he's getting better and better by, by the week.
Matt Jones
It is a huge part of it. I'll also note though, except for the Tennessee game, the defense has been really good since the Texas game. I mean and including with multiple guys out, I mean we have, I think we have five starters out this week against, against Vandy. That's my point.
Drew Franklin
A quarterback makes the locker room wake up. I mean literally everyone, the trainer, everyone gets excited because you have a quarterback.
Ryan Lemond
They've definitely not quit. They've kind of ridden around and back against the wall.
Shannon Dawson
I don't know if there's anybody better than Mark Stoops when he's been in these situations.
Matt Jones

Thanks to folks at Parrot Pizza People everybody. How's your pizza? Is it good? You guys enjoying it? Yeah. Well, good. I'm glad to see it. 859-280-2287. I got I always get Covington Catholic and Highlands confused, which I don't know, I guess just because my northern Kentucky, lumping it together. Boyle plays Covington Catholic, Highlands plays Corbin. You got Saint X and mail tonight as well. And of course, Middlesboro and Pikeville. If Middlesborough wins, just for the record, wherever they play next week, I'm gonna go. I think it's like Raceland. Where is that? Is that in.
Ryan Lemond
That's far eastern Kentucky.
Matt Jones
It's not farther eastern Kentucky than Middlesborough, so we. Well, I guess it could be.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Where is. Is it Ashland? Is Raceland up there next to Ashland?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
They played Paris, I think, tonight.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So if. I think we have to go to whoever wins that game, Paris, I can get to either. But if it's Raceland, then as. As Paul Simon once said, I'm going to Raceland. I'm going to Raceland. Ashland, Kentucky.
Drew Franklin
I'm jealous. Your team's still moving on. Mine got cheated, so I guess I'm a Middlesborough fan now. Yeah, go Jackets would be nicer. I got a hoodie.
Matt Jones
They haven't been in like in 20 years, so it would be good. Back to UK Vanity for a second. 3:30. Is it on ABC? Is that right?
Drew Franklin
Or ESPN?
Matt Jones
ESPN. So we got a nationally televised James sold out. Which they are. Yes. I mean, I. When's the last time a Kentucky Vanderbilt football game in Nashville has been sold out? I never. I mean, you know better than me.
Shannon Dawson
I don't know that for sure, but I would venture to guess that it's been a very, very long time. If it.
Matt Jones
We talked about if Vandy beats us, that sets up a game with Tennessee with them where they have a shot to make the playoff. But first they. To beat us. Do you. I mean, there's a world in which you could see that as a trap game. Do you think they see it? You're a Vandy fan.
Shannon Dawson
They absolutely do not. And this will be the only time in my life that Vanderbilt will be in the conversation for the college football playoffs.
Matt Jones
True.
Shannon Dawson
So yeah, if they're going to do it, this is the year they're going to do it. They're not going to see Kentucky as a trap game.
Ryan Lemond
There's been many games. Kentucky, Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt game down there in Tennessee where there are 60% Kentucky fans, 40% Vandy Pans. We used to pack that place.
Shannon Dawson
Dandy has been. The fans have been showing up. They just sold out like a game earlier this year against Charleston Southern. So I mean, even these little teams they're playing, they're selling out there.
Matt Jones
We have a lot of guys out on defense. They just announced now DJ Waller is out, too. I mean, we have literally, I think five of our 11 starters out are the bat. I mean, we've talked about the secondary was going to be hurt, but they've actually hung in there pretty well. A lot of these young guys. Is tomorrow the day where you really start to see that defensive issue?
Drew Franklin
I'm very worried about it. I mean, the guys have stepped up and played great, but they are just short on bodies. I mean, they're missing so many cornerbacks. I'm really watching Alex Afari. He hasn't been downgraded to you. I think he's still questionable.
Matt Jones
Well, I have a source. Oh, I have an Alex Afari source. That's pretty good.
Ryan Lemond
A good one.
Matt Jones
If you would listen to this show, you might know what it is. I'm gonna go ahead and say a very good source to Alex Safari, who told us yesterday he's playing well.
Drew Franklin
That's big because especially with how they play and him kind of being the quarterback of the defense. He's the best defensive player outside of anyone on the defensive line who's been good.
Ryan Lemond
I.
Drew Franklin
If he plays, that gives me more confidence. If he's out with five cornerbacks out, I really worry about what Pavia can do.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think. I think he's going to give it a go, which I think would do. Would help quite a bit.
Ryan Lemond
They need him because that defense is. Yeah, they're limping in the end of this game. This one could be a shootout.
Matt Jones
Do we like Diego Pavia?
Shannon Dawson
Yeah, we do.
Matt Jones
I'm great kid.
Shannon Dawson
Got good head on his shoulder. Nice confident guy.
Drew Franklin
Student, you know, could he find a classroom on campus?
Shannon Dawson
Down to earth.
Matt Jones
I'm. I have to tell you, listen, just like everybody last year Alabama game, I was fan of Diego Pavia. I thought he was fun. I'm Drew. I'm kind of over him. I'm kind of over, like, he's a lot. I think so.
Shannon Dawson
In other words, he's good. That's why. Because you hate people that are good.
Matt Jones
It's not. I mean. Yes, but that's not like. I like Johnny Manziel till the. It's. He's just.
Ryan Lemond
He's good.
Drew Franklin
He's what we needed Calzada to be. Calzada has that same personality. Just.
Shannon Dawson
Diego's already got his money, right?
Matt Jones
Yeah. By the way, does Garrett. Does Garrett get a role in MVP for. For sort of uniting the fan base with the whole Garrett video?
Ryan Lemond
Kind of united the locker room, too. They kind of rallied around that.
Drew Franklin
Kentucky wins one of these next two games and goes to a bowl game, we will be talking about the Garrett moment ten years from now. That will be one of those things that lingers with the fan base that we can reference and everybody knows what we're talking about.
Matt Jones
No, I think you're right. I just Diego Pavia. And this is now true about the Cam Scatterbo too. It's like a little bit went a long way. Like, it's just like I heard Big Cat on pardon my take say he kind of thinks Pavia, Cam Scattero and Theo Von are like the same guy.
Shannon Dawson
They kind of are.
Matt Jones
Like they're interchangeable. He feels like he just they're, they're everywhere and it's the exact same guy.
Shannon Dawson
If Andy loses tomorrow, I'm going to say that wasn't Diego. That was Theo Von out there playing quarterback.
Matt Jones
What's crazy is the Ovon is my age and they're saying like he is.
Shannon Dawson
So is Diego Papia.
Matt Jones
He may it is a senior day tomorrow.
Drew Franklin
He's going to want to show out. Last game in Nashville.
Matt Jones
Senior day, Senior citizen day tomorrow. In with with him. Who's up next?
Drew Franklin
Dennis.
Matt Jones
Dennis. Go ahead, Dennis.
Caller
Well, one of my questions y' all kind of went over was water percentage of usually it's usually the Vandy games down there is usually it's a home home game for Kentucky. But how you see that this year.
Matt Jones
I'd say 9010 Vandy this year or 85 15. I mean you got to remember when those tickets went on sale to the general public earlier this year, we stunk and they were good and then they sold out. So I'm going to think it's going to be vast majority of Andy fans maybe for the first time ever.
Caller
Yeah, I agree. One, one other thing. Yeah, I, I was, I saw the, the injury report for Louisville on social media and it was interesting that their quarterback, Miller Miles was listed as questionable.
Matt Jones
I think I could be wrong. I think he's now out. I, I, I think I saw this morning he might not be playing. So I mean, you may have a and I said appreciate the call. You may have a situation when we play Louisville, by the way, where we might be playing their backup quarterback and their top two running backs are out too. I mean, we may be playing Drew, a depleted Louisville team next week, which gives us an even better chance to pretend. I mean, if they lose to SMU this week and that means they come in on a three game losing streak, it might be odd the team that may be quitting going into that game is them and not us, which would have seemed crazy.
Drew Franklin
Three weeks this time of year. I think motivation is a big factor. That's not a Mark Stoops joke. I generally think, you know what the condition of the teams, players are looking to the portal. In some cases, we don't have a coach. Coaches are looking for the portal. That's why I like this against Florida. Louisville's getting in that territory where I wonder how much they're going to care. They still have something to play for. But if they don't have a good week this week or they're beat up.
Matt Jones
I mean, they can't have the money, they can't make the playoff. I. I don't think they can make the ACC championship. So I mean, when they play us, it's just going to be like a pride thing. And I don't know, if they lose to SMU this week, that pride may go away. Right? We might. We might see like a team that's not even there.
Ryan Lemond
And after the last loss, that quarterback blamed everybody but himself.
Matt Jones
That's kind of maybe that maybe wise hurt this game. In parentheses. We'll take a break. Be right back. It's ksr. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.

Shannon Dawson
Well, that was actually Darius Rucker singing Stone Temple Pilots, I believe.
Matt Jones
Oh, well, that's terrible.
Ryan Lemond
That's even better.
Matt Jones
Shady.
Ryan Lemond
Is that right?
Matt Jones
Better version version of that song.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, it's better.
Shannon Dawson
Stop it. You can't compare Darius record to Scott Wild.
Matt Jones
That was Darius Rucker singing Stone Temple.
Shannon Dawson
It was, I think, right, Liam?
Matt Jones
It was. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
And so many times people will see it online and Shannon, I'll get it sent to us 50 times a day. Yeah, yeah, go ahead and play it.
Matt Jones
No, that's fine. It's Shady Rays. Best protection program in the industry. Lost and broken replacements@shadyrays.com Two things we were talking about on the screen right up there. It came up a Modelo ad and I was saying to you all, Modelo is now the highest selling beer in America. Or at least it was last year. Bud Light may pass it back this year. And that got us to talking about, I don't drink beer, but I always see Bud Light, Miller Light, Coors Light, Michelob Light, Bush Light. To me, they all taste the same. But for you all that's not true.
Shannon Dawson
If you're an experienced drinker like Drew and I are, you definitely know there is a difference between those light beers. For me, if I'm going between those three Coors Light, Miller Light, Bud Light, I'm going Coors Light personally. But it's all, you know, personal taste.
Drew Franklin
They probably have 40 beers on tap. Miller Lite would be my 40th pick.
Matt Jones
You hate it.
Drew Franklin
I don't hate it. If I had to, I can get through it, but I just. It's like the one beer I will never order.
Matt Jones
Really?
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Shannon Dawson
Or endorse, apparently.
Matt Jones
Now you're not gonna. You're not gonna endorse anymore? To me as a non drinker, if I ever tasted. It all tastes awful to me. But like, I didn't. I thought they were all the same.
Shannon Dawson
You like the ciders, don't you? Don't you?
Matt Jones
I don't really like any of it, but like, if I have to drink something, I'll drink like. But I can't. I just like an angry orchard. I don't know how you, when you know Diet Coke is in the world that you would voluntarily choose that.
Shannon Dawson
I don't know how you would choose Diet Coke over beer.
Matt Jones
I would do the opposite. I certainly would.
Ryan Lemond
The best beer is Shannon the Dude brew.
Shannon Dawson
There you go. Thank you, Ryan.
Matt Jones
Us and Troy is a basketball game that probably none of you watched last night, but you do, on your way home, need to watch the end of the game. It was. It went to triple overtime. I'm not even sure how that game went to, but it was in triple overtime. Troy is up by two. They're trying to inbound the ball and they end up getting like, they can't get it in, so they throw it. USC goes and gets the ball. Guy has a shot at the buzzer. Troy Guy cannot be playing any better defense. He ends up having to double pump. He shoots a mo. Diabate shot from his waist. Although that was. That's like a normal mode diabate shot, but he shoots it double pumps and it goes in for three. And like, if you watch it. I didn't see any of the game, but you have to feel sorry for Troy. They go from Troy, Alabama to la. They're leading. There's three seconds left and they have the ball and they find a way to blow it. Ryan it was. It was brutal loss for the team from Troy.
Ryan Lemond
And the loser like that, a guy jacks one from his belly button down there like that double pump that. That hurts even more.
Matt Jones
There have been almost no power for schools getting beat this year. Like, almost none. A lot of that's in IL because, like now the discrepancy between the leagues are. I mean, but there's been almost none of the. Part of it is the good teams that are mid majors. We talked about teams aren't even scheduling them. So, like, the Belmonts of the world can't get games against good teams. But Pitt, I think, lost to a Division 3 team. Arkansas almost lost to Winthrop, but for the most part, the power schools and Sanford. But Arkansas's almost lost twice. But for most of the part, the power schools Drew have not lost to anybody. But they're playing each other and these games are good. The game last night, I think St. John's play somebody tonight. Like, there are good games out there. And next week, all the best teams are playing in these tournaments except us. Do you wish we would play in one?
Drew Franklin
If you'd asked me nine days ago, I would say yes right now. No. Let's hide. Let's get under the table with Mark Pope right now on the Troy thing.
Ryan Lemond
Isn't that.
Drew Franklin
That's what we played last year. And they go to Waffle House every game. So you're telling me they had to go to LA where there's not Waffle Homes Homes, travel all the way back.
Matt Jones
And break that tradition?
Drew Franklin
Because I really got to like that Troy team, even though they are.
Matt Jones
Then they. They lost the game.
Drew Franklin
So, yeah, basketball has been exciting.
Matt Jones
Are you glad we're not playing in one of these tournaments next week? I mean, next week there are some. The Battle for Atlanta. There are some really good brackets out there where there are like six ranked teams in a tournament. Are you glad we're not doing it now?
Ryan Lemond
No, I. I've always been for that. I've always enjoyed being sitting around your Thanksgiving vacation and watch Kentucky play in one of these Thanksgiving weekend tournaments. So I know Pope said he was going to maybe get back to that. Like, I'm sure these contracts are already made in advance, so maybe we'll get back into it a year.
Matt Jones
In a year we'll find out. All the contracts for Pope for terms of scheduling were filled through this year. Okay, so like, Cal picked the schedule through this year, but starting next year, these are games Pope agrees to. So really we'll start to see what Pope's scheduling philosophy Is really starting with next year's season. Who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Alex.
Matt Jones
Alex. Go ahead, Alex.
Caller
Hey, guys, just a comment, not. Not necessarily defending the caller in that earlier segment on OA playing for the NBA. I also don't know what's in his head or who's in his ear, but Mark Pope did have a really interesting comment in a press conference. I can't remember if it's been covered here, if you heard it after the Louisville game, but somebody asked about always struggle. And he went on a rant for a few minutes, but in his answer, he made a comparison to Tom Brady, saying, imagine if someone had told Tom Brady he can't run the ball like Mike Vick, and then Tom Brady decides to change his game and run the ball more. And that actually does sort of suggest to me that maybe somebody, I don't know, NBA scouts, whoever, maybe said he does need to prove that he can hang out on the wing and be a true shooter. So maybe.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I didn't hear that. I mean. So you're saying he said that after the Louisville game? Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Okay. Well, I did. I didn't hear that. I mean, that. I would say, though, if an NBA scout told him and he. And they may have. I think they did tell him to shoot three more threes. I'm not saying, though, that's why he's playing poorly. I assume Mark Pope is telling him to do what he needs to do, Ryan, to be good this year.
Ryan Lemond
He seems like he's forgotten what got him to this point. He forgotten that part of his game. Yeah. If you want to shoot some more three. Well, he was hit. He hit two against Michigan State. He what? Two out of four. Even though he's got an ugly shot, it's broke, but he still hit two out of four. He's forgotten that other part of his game that made him so successful.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, it's not. I don't think Drew, he's taken an irrational number of threes. I think it's just the thing that he's has done so well. He's just not as good at. I think you actually made a really good analysis of that, and we should watch this tonight. He used to catch the ball and be gone immediately. And you're right. It's like he pauses now, like you're in the NBA. You see guys do and tries to shake people, and that's really not his game. I don't think he's good enough to do that, you know?
Drew Franklin
Yeah. Go to YouTube. Type in. Oh way highlights from last year. And that is, that guy's not on the team this year, at least not right now, because it was just instant. He'd get it and boom, finishing through traffic. It's like he was the aggressor, he was the creator. And this guy's sitting around waiting for a lot to happen. Part of that is still the overall offense, but he could also get it started by doing what he did a season ago.
Matt Jones
Let's do something positive. Yesterday, UK signed and confirmed the number four women's basketball recruiting class in the country. You can give that a round of applause. I mean, it is the highest ranked UK women's basketball recruiting class ever. It includes, I think, three. Three young women ranked in the top 30 and one in the top 2010. You know, this team's young this year. Kenny Brooks, I mean, they're. They're good this season, but they're like set up Drew to be really good in the next couple years. He is quietly building a team that I think is going to be maybe starting next year. The second best program in the SEC behind South Carolina. I mean, they are set up to do that.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, it's such a tough league that he had to move to and, you know, start towards the bottom. But he did a quick job climbing. I think he's just going to continue to climb. And he did what we didn't have for a long time is he's trying to get size. You know, he's got.
Matt Jones
Oh, they're so tall.
Drew Franklin
Three right now that he calls the big three or whatever he calls them. But, you know, to win in the sec, you know, that's where most the size is in the women's game. And he came in knowing he had to compete with that.
Matt Jones
They play Louisville tomorrow, I think.
Shannon Dawson
Isn't it tomorrow?
Drew Franklin
Yeah, it's up against the Kentucky football game, right?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think. Is it dirt? It's at 2.
Caller
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Okay. On ESPN.
Drew Franklin
What?
Matt Jones
It's on the CW. Really? Along with, like the Bernie Mac show or something. It's on the cw.
Shannon Dawson
That's the lead in.
Matt Jones
Wow.
Drew Franklin
Seventh Heaven.
Matt Jones
Okay. The CW is Wow. Okay.
Shannon Dawson
So anyway, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Matt Jones
So we play Louisville. We play Louisville on the cw right in between the live tour. And so we play at 2 o' clock and then the win. I mean, that's a huge game. Both teams are ranked.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You know, we haven't talked a lot about it, but a. A big chance. I mean, Kenny Brooks's scheduling philosophy this year has been clear. Like, we ain't gonna play that mean Good teams. We're gonna kind of sit back and wait for the sec. So this is a chance early on, Ryan, for them to get a big win.
Ryan Lemond
I think we all feel like a.
Matt Jones
A game's there, right? It's. It's there. Okay.
Ryan Lemond
A Final Four is in the very near future for this women's program. Man, I don't know if it'll happen this year, but it's. It. It's coming. For the first time ever in school history, they'll make a Final Four.
Matt Jones
The men's soccer team, I don't know if anybody watched it last. Did anybody see the men's soccer game last night? Just me and Drew, I guess. It was sad. So I turned it on. It said nine minutes to go. Kentucky's one nothing ahead in the NCAA tournament at St. Louis. So I turn it on. We get St. Louis's announcers because the game is there. It's foggy, it's misty, it's rainy. The St. Louis people are like, we haven't lost at home in four years. This can't be happening. The Lord is against us. Like, I mean, they're very. They're very sad. And it looks like we're gonna win. And then with four minutes to go, this guy kicks. Kicks it to the goalie. It is in the goalie's hands. Like, it could not have been more in his chest. And we have a goalie that's like one of the top goalies in the country. Remember I kicked against him?
Ryan Lemond
That's right.
Matt Jones
Last year.
Shannon Dawson
Get anything past him?
Matt Jones
I know. So I know he's good. I couldn't kick it past even you. Even me, yeah. And it went right off his chest. He was literally let. Like he was holding a baby, and it went right off his chest and then squirted to the side and went in. It was. It was an absurd goal. And then we went to extra time, we had a guy get sent off, and we end up losing 2 to 1 in overtime.
Drew Franklin
I was already ready to celebrate. I mean, when there's four minutes left in soccer, you're one. Oh, you're feeling good. And you hate to put a season ending tournament loss on one person, but you got to make that save.
Matt Jones
I don't know how he didn't make. It was brutal.
Drew Franklin
It was.
Matt Jones
And the announcers. I hate listening to announcers of the other team when you're rooting and they're like, oh, you can't stop a Billiken at home. And I was like.
Drew Franklin
And when extra time started, they just had all the confidence.
Shannon Dawson
Are they now 02 since we brought our play by play guy on KSR?
Matt Jones
No, he won one game but he's one and two. I think we'll take a break. 8592802287 we are here at Parlor Pizzas.

Shannon Dawson
We got it.
Matt Jones
On the way home, people get mad because they say I take all the good ones by going first. So I'm gonna go last this time to give you all a chance. Shannon, which one do you want?
Shannon Dawson
We are going to Chapel Hill, N.C. big rivalry game between Duke and North Carolina. Bill Belichick may not even be there. He may be at Jordan Hudson's adult cheerleading competition. He is checked out. I am taking Duke and the six and a half points on the road.
Matt Jones
I'm good with that one. I'm good with that one. You're going to take Duke? What about you, Drew? I'm getting crazy.
Drew Franklin
Are you all ready? You want a good one?
Matt Jones
Well, it's not going to be as good as me picking the Texans to win last night.
Shannon Dawson
Took you that long? 2 hours to take a victory lap?
Matt Jones
Yes, that was a big win and that's going to pay for my weekend. But go ahead.
Drew Franklin
Buckle up, boys. We are going with The Hilltoppers at LSU. Bring it. Spreads 22 and a half. Nuss Meyers out. LSU is in shambles. They haven't scored 25 points in a game since early September and The spread is 22 and a half. Western will not win, but we just got to keep it within 22. Go Hilltoppers.
Matt Jones
Wow. You're taking Western to cover motivation season.
Drew Franklin
And LSU is a wreck. They barely scored 20 against Arkansas last week.
Matt Jones
That's a. That's a. That's it.
Kraken Advertiser
Now.
Matt Jones
That is A gutsy pick. What about you?
Shannon Dawson
What's your hockey pick tonight?
Ryan Lemond
Not for the parlay, but Michigan hockey will cover one and a half over Ohio State. Got that one.
Matt Jones
You won it last week.
Ryan Lemond
For the parlay I got Georgia tech covering the 2 1/2 over Pitt. At Georgia Tech.
Matt Jones
I like that one too. That was one I considered. Okay, so I'm good with all these. I'll top it off with a game I think is ugly. Tennessee wins by only needs to beat Florida by more than four and a half. I think they win by 20. Florida's getting the credit for having played better than than that people thought against Ole Miss. This is when you then go the counter way. So I'm going to take Tennessee to cover the four and a half again at Florida.
Shannon Dawson
This sounds like a winner to me.
Matt Jones
Tennessee hasn't beaten Florida or excuse me, Florida hasn't beaten Tennessee, I think in a long time. So. So we got. That leaves Tennessee, Duke, Western Kentucky and Georgia Tech as our KSR parlay. I feel, I feel pretty good about that one.
Shannon Dawson
Say North Carolina.
Matt Jones
North Carolina, you pick Duke.
Shannon Dawson
Yeah. Duke. I'm sorry, I don't know. Duke in North Carolina. Duke. You're right. Yes.
Drew Franklin
We just need Western.
Matt Jones
Which team do you want? Okay, yeah, just making sure who's up next.
Ryan Lemond
Rand looking at you like.
Matt Jones
Randall, go ahead, Randall.
Drew Franklin
Hey, Matt, I was.
Caller
You mentioned the other day that the ball team could go to Europe or G League to get a point guard with Low being out. What's the deadline on that?
Matt Jones
I don't know. I mean, I would have said the deadline is the start of the semester, but then we had the situation with Big Z where he came in like you know, November, so. And started. So I don't know. I. I assume from everything I've seen, you could go get a guy and they could start playing second semester, but I don't know. Which is partially why if Jalen Lowe's gonna play, I'd like to see if he could try before December so that if you needed to, you could go get somebody. But as to whether or not they're considering it, I honestly am not sure.
Caller
I've been trying to. Is really kicking their sales for leaving now.
Matt Jones
Well, I mean, it would have been nice to have Travis. I appreciate the call, but I don't think he would be the answer to our question to our issues. Right. I mean, I'd rather have Jasper Johnson playing backup point guard than Travis Perry. Travis Perry I don't think solves this team's issue, to be honest with You?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. You know, we talked a little bit about Jasper. You know, he only played like nine minutes but he did have three assists. So he is a guy that I think is come in as needed as a backup to facilitate the offense. Aberdeen's the guy. I've been disappointed on his offensive end. Great. On the defensive end. Disappointed on the offensive end.
Matt Jones
Well, he is our leading scorer though.
Ryan Lemond
We had that one big game like the game against Michigan State. I didn't think he did anything to help us offensively.
Drew Franklin
You know, our leading shot blocker is who. Since some people on the team don't know how to jump on defense. Colin Chandler leads the team in shot blocks.
Matt Jones
Huh? By the way, I need, I need TR Noah to make some shots. Yeah, I mean Trent Noah's got it. Trent Noah has got to make shots like that. This team needs that. We talked about Cam Williams and he's made a couple since then. Trent Noah needs to make them. Who's next?
Ryan Lemond
Daniel.
Matt Jones
Daniel. Go ahead, Daniel.
Drew Franklin
Hi Matt.
Caller
Just a follow up phone call. I talked to you Tuesday when I was driving up to the game and I had ended that call with asking you to please not have a stinker game. And what did I get? A stinker game. Oh, well, that's how it goes. You guys have just talked about the subject that I was going to bring up.
Matt Jones
Yes.
Caller
Why can't Jasper Johnson be our point guard?
Matt Jones
Well, I mean I think he can. I appreciate the call and I think like it'd be. He's really good but I also think he's got to be better on defense and we've got to see him be able to really facilitate and share. I mean I think he's going to get some chances right now.
Ryan Lemond
I think he is.
Matt Jones
Now I think if Jaylen Low's not playing, you're Mark Pope's going to go look, we could maybe use this. So we'll see.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, they tried the Colin Chandler experience at point guard, that didn't work out so well. So I think now the rotation is Aberdeen and then Jasper.
Matt Jones
Yeah. All right, so let's talk about the weekend ahead. K basketball played tonight against Loyola Maryland.
Shannon Dawson

“I need him to look like a basketball player, not a guy that’s going to do my taxes for me.” (Shannon Dawson, 13:11)
[13:59–17:32]
“If [Stoops] pulls this off, it’s his best coaching job since he’s been here... better than the 10-win seasons if he was able to pull this off.” (Ryan Lemond, 15:03)
“I don’t know if there’s anybody better than Mark Stoops when he’s been in these situations.” (Shannon Dawson, 17:16)

“Pretty much everybody, if we’re honest... I did a poll at Whiskey Thief, and two people held up their hand that they still wanted him to be the coach. Two. So it would be... a pretty miraculous turnaround if they’re able to win Saturday.” — Matt Jones, 16:11
On scams and skepticism:
“I get like three voicemails a day from spam... There could be real concerns, people trying to reach me, and I ignore them.” — Drew Franklin, 06:08
Caller critique on basketball player’s focus:
“He’s not doing what he needs to do for this Kentucky basketball team. He’s not a jump shooter, but he shoots jump shots... chances are you’re not going to get one.” — Caller, 11:22
On NCAA soccer heartbreak:
“It was in the goalie’s hands. Like, it could not have been more in his chest. And... it was literally like he was holding a baby, and it went right off his chest and then squirted to the side and went in. It was an absurd goal.” — Matt Jones, 38:26
This fast-paced second hour at Parlor Pizza showcases the KSR crew’s comfort mixing big-picture analysis (UK football’s wild season arc, basketball’s developmental dilemmas) with Kentucky-centric culture (high school football playoffs, local pizza, and friendly digs about beer choices). The hour highlights both UK athletic optimism (especially for the women’s basketball future) and the realistic skepticism of a fanbase unafraid to question its heroes—but just as quick to celebrate a revival.
