This is Doug Gottlieb from All Ball with Doug Gottlieb. Listen, I'm gonna get serious for a minute and talk about something personal. The hate in our country is getting out of control. In fact, it's at an all time high and people are facing just too much hate. A lot of people don't think it's a problem, I can tell you. I've experienced it firsthand. You know, living outside of the country in Russia when my teammates found out I was Jewish and at the time, granted this is 25 years ago, I couldn't get into the country of Dubai. They just treated me differently. I knew what they were saying in Russian because I could speak it, but they didn't know I understood that they were talking behind my back. Look, there's lots of examples of it, but it's going to take all of us to stop this sort of hate because we're all on the same team in this country. So let's take a break from our hate so our team can regroup and regain our momentum. We need to take a time out against hate. Visit standuptolhate.org to help and join me in calling for time out against hate by following the at what's up with Hate? Or posting the Blue Square emoji standup to allhate.org that's the place to go if you want to help.

Avision Auto Glass text machine is 772-774-5254. In this edition sponsored by the TJ Smith Law Office. If you call TJ he'll make them pay. We've got me, Ryan and Drew. Shannon's back in Louisville. We are joined for one good post trip show with Max Duffy. Guys, we got on plane yesterday morning. It was. It was early in the morning. We woke up and it was dark in Cincinnati. But we are back ready to rock.
Drew Franklin
I don't even know what day it is when my alarm went off. I'm like, why is my alarm going off? What is? I really. I had no idea what day it was.
Matt Jones
Not used to your alarms going off?
Drew Franklin
No, no. You know, we got to sleep in a little bit. It kind of felt like we were sleeping in.
Matt Jones
We got up earlier every day on this trip because we were on the different coast.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I don't think we slept in one day, Drew. I'm not sure what he's talking about.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I don't remember sleeping in either.
Drew Franklin
But we wake up at 8:00. That's 11:00 here. Felt like we were sleeping in, but.
Matt Jones
We did the shows every day, so that means we got up in time to do the same show you're doing now. Yeah, but earlier.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, but out there, like, we got to sleep in.
Shannon The Dude
I did not feel like I was.
Matt Jones
I don't understand that logic of when the show started at 8 and at times at 7, it fell earlier. But you know what? Drew, let him cook. He's. He's fine.
Shannon The Dude
I'm glad he got well rested from the trip. I need a little bit longer. My back feels like I've been powerbombed through a table. But between the years, I'm excited to be back and looking forward to the week.
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's a long flight from Seattle, but it was. There was a cat on the plane, Max. I hate that. I don't understand how people just get to bring their cats and they just gets to meow the entire flight. I don't know when we decided that was okay, but I guess we do. Last time I sort of complained about that, people got mad, so I won't. I will, however, complain about Mario, who takes more space on an airplane than anyone for a guy that little. He just. He had the middle seat yesterday. He decides. Elbow. He's Charles Oakley boxing out for a rebound, sitting on the seat, elbows out. But you know what? I still. I still like him, and it was fine.
Shannon The Dude
I was in the middle row, middle seat in the back row with the seat that doesn't recline between two people. And I don't know if there is a hell. I think that's it. I think I found actual hell.
Mario
I heard that Mario took up a lot of space. I slept during the whole thing, and I must have been hilarious to watch, because I was doing one of those moments where, like, you sleep until your chin hits the front of your chest, and then you bob back up, and then for the next 10 minutes, you're asleep, and then you hit forward. I must have woken up 600 times.
Matt Jones
Well, we're all here, and that's good after an excellent trip. Thank all of you. By the way, we're here at ksbar. You can come see us. Got some folks already here today. Tomorrow, by the way, not only is it wings day, it's a Kentucky game, so Love to have you then as well. We are. We are here. It was an awesome trip, culminating in the big win by Kentucky against Gonzaga. You know, Ryan, I was thinking about the game on the flight because I forgot my headphones. And you have a lot of time to yourself in that. That's the worst. And it was such a awesome game. I mean, the whole. We love the trip, but let's just focus for a second on the game. I mean, that game. Down 16, tie for the biggest comeback from a halftime deficit. Big plays down the stretch. I went back and watched the television broadcast and so many big plays by Robinson and Carr. Those were the big ones, but other guys contributing. It was just an awesome victory.
Drew Franklin
It was an awesome game. It was, you know, two powerhouse teams, big shot after big shot. I mean, Kentucky would make a big shot. Gonzaga going the other end, they would make a big shot. I mean, it was fun to watch. I don't know how Kentucky won that game. I mean, I thought they were done early in the game. You don't have your point guard. Lamont Butler, your backup point guard, gets hurt in the second half. You got Jackson Robinson out there running the point. But yet they did. They've made the big play they had to do to come back and win that game.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, that's easy to forget, Max. I mean, we didn't have Lamont Butler. And you. I bring that to you because I want to read you a text from the text machine. One person writes. Matt, I think it's amazing that an Australian who I didn't think would know the first thing about basketball was breaking down the games. I'm excited to hear what he thinks about the basketball game with more technical knowledge. Why does the Aussie know these things?
Mario
Yeah, look, it might be hard to believe, but we've got, in Australia, electricity, we've got running water, our TVs, work, full Internet, housing, clothing. Just all the. All the regular things. Just like you guys, I mean, I think.
Drew Franklin
And basketball, we do have.
Mario
We do have gyms, hoops. The basketballs can be inflated. We've got air back home, so. No, we. We play a little bit of basketball back home. I mean, the Australian team's pretty good. There's probably 15 guys in the NBA, so it was. It was good fun being on the basketball.
Matt Jones
Back to Butler for a second. You know, I don't. I would be surprised if he plays tomorrow night, too. I do expect to see him for the Louisville game, but to go out there and win without him, I think is really an amazing testament I thought at halftime, I remember thinking, well, I tell you, if they don't have him, they're not going to beat too many good teams. But then it just took him a half to prove me wrong.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I mean, anytime you beat a top 10 team like that, it's a good win, but it was really satisfying. And how they did it coming back from down 16 at the half, making adjustments, doing out your point guard and then doing it without your backup point guard, they didn't shoot well from three. Everything was against them really, and they still managed to win that game. And it just makes you wonder how good can they be when they're back to healthy, when the threes are going in and they can start a game hot and not go down early.
Matt Jones
It is four games in a row though, where we haven't made threes. I mean, we're now at 26% in the last four games. I mean, does that worry you at all?
Drew Franklin
I mean, it does.
Matt Jones
I mean, but they still been good those games. But does that worry you?
Drew Franklin
I guess you gotta worry just a little because we know Kobe Bray is a better shooter than hitting the side of the backboard and throwing up an air ball in a second.
Matt Jones
That's one of the worst shots I've ever seen.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, and that's when I thought, oh, it's just not Kentucky's night. So I do think they're a much better shooting team than that. But you know, Max hit on this. I think we saw on this trip the emergence of Jackson Robinson second half, the Clemson game. Something clicked with that guy. Played great second half and then he kind of took over there in the second half against Gonzaga.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he was great. Just if you go over the guys a little bit, Jackson Robinson and Andrew Carr, I think have separated themselves as the two best players on the team. I mean, away is still very good, but I think, you know, we've now seen a couple. I feel like Oway was not quite ready for that moment against Gonzaga. I didn't feel like he wanted to shoot. He missed an open one. But I also just. It just didn't feel like he wanted to shoot as much. Whereas Robinson and Car look like they feel completely comfortable. Amare feels comfortable. I still think sometimes maybe he should be a little less comfortable. But he hit a big hook shot. That was a big shot in the game that he hit. I think that was in overtime. That gave us a six point lead. You know, Brea, I think also still looks a little shaky at the end of game. So I think this team has found its two guys down the stretch. Max. I think it's going to be Robinson and Carr that get the big shots, and then Butler, when he's not hurt.
Mario
I was going to say, you could probably add Butler to that group when he comes back, because I think he's pretty important. And in the Clemson game. In the Clemson game, he looked like he might have been the only one that could actually take someone off the dribble. So he did. He. He looked pretty good to me. Outside of the players. It was just the fact that we might have multiple ways to win a basketball game, which is really important. I mean, if you're not having a good shooting night, you can't just go, well, we can't make threes. Or, you know, if you can't beat guys off the dribble, you say, well, we can't beat guys off dribble. He found a way to come up with something in the second half with the zone, switching up the defenses that stifled them. And it's good to know that you've got a coach and a team that can win multiple ways.
Matt Jones
And it culminated a great trip. I mean, like, we've had. We had such a good time seeing everybody. We had such a good time in all of our stuff. So every time we do these kind of trips, Drew, I try to, like, say, okay, what. You know, what are the moments that I'll remember the most? Right, sure. So I was thinking about this this morning, and I'll give you a couple. For me, number one was how many people who showed up in Fort Collins, Colorado, to watch that game.
Drew Franklin
That was awesome.
Matt Jones
I mean, we say, we're gonna have a watch party. I thought we'd get eight or ten people. Probably 40 to 50 people show up. The restaurant was not ready. To be fair, we tried to call them in advance and say, hey, there may be some people go there. And they just blew us off. They were like, you could come, but nobody's. It'll be fine. And then all of a sudden, 50 people just show up in Fort Collins at this restaurant. They didn't even offer to bar, buy Mario's meal. Who's the one that. Who's the one that picked the restaurant? But nevertheless, having that kind of crowd to watch, even though we lost the game, was pretty amazing.
Drew Franklin
It was awesome. They just kept coming and kept coming and kept coming, and they start sharing their stories. You know, I went to Lafayette High School. You know, I'm from Pikeville. And they did get to kind of reconnect with some fans out There.
Matt Jones
I think the second thing on the trip was the emergence Max of Mario as just. It's just a. An amazing character. First of all, never found a human being in my life who literally could have. You know how they'll say there are like drugs and things that like, you can't have them touch your body because you might die. If alcohol gets in Mario's vicinity, he's hammered whether he drinks it or not. If you throw in Vail, Colorado, where we hand him a menu at a Mexican restaurant and he asks why the menus are in Spanish when they're actually in English. And then he has says, why are there no tacos? And it was because he had it upside down and asked what the socats were. Those were.
Shannon The Dude
Those are true stories.
Matt Jones
Those are both true stories. But then my favorite moment and the one I want to share is actually Saturday night. All right, I want, I want you all to think about. We have the game. Awesome victory, right? We do the post game show. If you haven't listened to it yet, by the way, one of our most listened to post game shows ever, was it really podcast, not. Not live because it was so late, but on podcast we got up to the number six episode in America. I can't remember any KSR episode getting that during the NFL season ever. When it. There's a massive bar, Kentucky fans, it's like a club in there. It's music. So when it's over, I mean, you have to remember we had driven from eastern Oregon to Seattle in the morning through an ice storm, gotten there, been there 30 minutes, just went on the air for the pregame show immediately went to the game immediately go on the air of the post game show. Our bodies time clock say it's four in the morning. It's actually one in the morning. And as we walk out, I actually leave the bar a few minutes early. You know, Drew, just because I'm a little mentally exhausted, right? And I just, I'm standing outside and I don't know if Mario is like. I don't know if he sees me and he thinks I'm sad or whatever, but he decides he's gonna cheer me up. And let me just say this was really nice. This is not like anything but nice. But he comes up and he goes. And I could, I mean, I can tell he's hammered immediately because we take it lemon drop shots the entire post game show. And he comes up and he puts his arm around me and he goes, bro, bro, you man, bro. Don't you be tell. Don't you let people tell you you're not the man. Of course, no one had told me I wasn't the man. Like, he actually gets me almost paranoid. Like, what are people saying? Why does he feel like he needs to cheer me up? I'm okay. He was like, you got talent. You got talent. And he goes, I'm here to take us to the next level. Yep. And I was like, really? And he's like, yeah, I'm taking us to. We're going to the next level.
Drew Franklin
National, bro. National, bro.
Matt Jones
National. He's like, you got national talent. We're going to the next level. I was like, oh, okay. Well, at this point, all the other guys walked out. And, you know, he said that. So we're walking to our car. He said that to me a couple. A couple times now. What about the other guy? Guys, right? Try to take the focus off me. What about them? Oh, they're great, too. It was Drew Franklin. You funny. You funny, dude. That's a funny guy. My God, that's good. That's good, Mario. And then he goes. I go, what about Shannon? He's like, shannon's sassy.
Ryan Lemond
He's a sassy one, but you gotta.
Matt Jones
Have sassy, but you need that. You need a sassy one. Yeah. Said, what about Ryan living? And he goes, he's a little inconsistent.
Drew Franklin
Needs to be more consistent.
Matt Jones
He needs to be more consistent. And we all bust out laughing. We're like, what do you mean? He was like, he needs to be more consistent. He's goofy. He's great. Just got to be more consistent. And then Max is aggity mod. And Max is like. He was like, ryan Lemon's keeping us from going to the next level. And he was like, yeah, he's inconsistent. If Ryan would get more consistent, then we're headed to the next level. And he probably. So then we get. He talks for 20 straight minutes. He did not take a breath for 20 minutes. Just, Matt, you're talented. Drew, you're funny.
Shannon The Dude
Don't forget, you're emotional, but good emotion.
Matt Jones
Yeah. He also said, matt, your emotions.
Shannon The Dude
But in a good way.
Matt Jones
He was like, but in a good way. Your emotions come out. That's good. And then Max would go, well, what about Rod? He'd be like, he's just inconsistent. He's just inconsistent. So we've decided he probably said the inconsistent 150 times. So, Ryan, we know you're inconsistent. I hope you've been working on your consistency, because we need to hit the next level, and your consistency is going to be huge.
Drew Franklin
I think at one point he called me the old head. The old head. The old head on the show.
Matt Jones
He said, ryan's the old head. And then Max would go, but he's inconsistent. I mean, so I gotta tell you, I don't know that there'll ever be a time that I don't look at you and think inconsistent.
Drew Franklin
That 30 minute walk from the bar to our car will be one of those. It'll go down in KSR radio history of Mario 4 in the morning.
Matt Jones
Mario breaking us all down.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Matt Jones
At Max. I loved it.
Mario
See, so trips like this, like you talk about teams going on the road and galvanizing together and, you know, becoming a better team. Well, we just found the emerging leader. Like, he was able to give straight feedback. He gave it straight to our face. He told us what we needed to hear.
Matt Jones
He's Kirk Crease.
Mario
We got to go to the next level. And I just could not. And you know, when things get pointed out to you too, you start realizing little things. Like, I hadn't even thought about it that way. But now I just see Ryan's inconsistency.
Drew Franklin
Yeah.
Mario
Popping up everywhere. I mean, from then on, it was just inconsistent behavior after inconsistent behavior.
Drew Franklin
We've been at dinner, I felt like I wasn't being consistent enough. I work on it.
Matt Jones
So by the way, as we do this show in the coming days, just see if you see if rides get more consistent and we'll see how the leadership of Mario is working. 859-280-2287. We are now still ranked fifth in the country behind Duke. Was that a mistake? We'll talk about it next.

Welcome back.
Matt Jones
Thank you, Sports Radio. It's hard for me to set this up, just to just remember this song. This is called Blood Solution. Pollution. Pollution, Pollution, Pollution.
Ryan Lemond
Blood pollution.
Matt Jones
Oh, I thought it was solution. We were in a. We were at a karaoke bar in Oregon. A guy got up and sang this just like this. And it was one of my favorite moments of all time. Max, you had something.
Mario
Yeah. So for the people listening, you wouldn't have been able to see this. But you know, we just made a point of it and we go to the break and what happens? Matt has to tell Ryan. You got to put the mic closer to your mouth. I mean, the inconsistencies are just everywhere.
Drew Franklin
I totally agree with that.
Matt Jones
You got to get that mic to.
Drew Franklin
Take us to the next level. Go be national.
Matt Jones
The tax machine is 772-774-5254. So Kentucky's fifth in the country. When you consider they lost a game that would normally be positive, however, you can't help but be a little annoyed that Duke is fourth with us being fifth. Duke beat Auburn, however, the number one team in the country this week. And Louisville was actually leading in the second half. But Duke came back and won. We have only one loss. They have two, and we beat them. Does it annoy you at all that we're. I thought fifth was about right for Kentucky, but I didn't like Duke being a hit.
Shannon The Dude
That's really stupid. I mean, if only there were like a head to head matchup that could.
Matt Jones
Prove who's better at this stage.
Shannon The Dude
But if you're asking if I'm annoyed, I've thought that poll's been dumb for several years now that we watched a little closer. When you see guys completely forget to put a vote in some weeks and things like that happen, I mean, it's. It's fun to have the ranking, the little number next to your school on the scoreboard when you're watching a game. But other than that, that poll has been meaningless to me for a while. It is stupid, though, that Duke's ahead of them.
Mario
Doesn't make any sense, honestly. But who cares? I mean, some. Brian, like Drew said, we've got plenty of time to keep working our way up.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you are being very generous. It still annoys me, like, if you're good. I mean, if you're gonna have a poll, at least make it some. I mean, if we had the same record. I get it. They beat Auburn. That's a great win. But they were at home. We played on the road. We've won neutral court games against them and Gonzaga. They have beaten what? Auburn. And they lost to Kansas. Lost to us. Who did they beat? They beat like Arizona, which was a good win on the road, but I still feel like we should be ahead of them. Yeah, they have.
Drew Franklin
They have two losses, right? Kentucky's got one loss and they.
Matt Jones
But now they have probably played a harder schedule.
Mario
Maybe so, but.
Drew Franklin
But still, you know, they did two good wins they got last week. If you count Louisville being a good win.
Matt Jones
I don't count Louisville.
Drew Franklin
Yeah, like these guys said, these polls, they're just nothing for us to talk about. You know, it doesn't Mean really anything to the end of the year.
Matt Jones
You don't even think it's worth talking about? It doesn't even bother you at all.
Drew Franklin
They're only in made up for us to talk about, for fans to talk about. It really doesn't matter. It doesn't mean anything.
Matt Jones
Well, in that respect, nothing means anything. I mean, polls or don't. I mean, we're all just dust in the wind here. You're like being a philosopher now. Why are you wearing a turtleneck?
Drew Franklin
It's a Nike three quarter zip.
Matt Jones
Okay, well, it annoys me. It may not annoy you all, but it annoys me to put Duke ahead of us. I don't mind Tennessee. I don't. Auburn, Iowa State. There's a couple teams that are even behind us that it wouldn't bother me if they were ahead. But when you beat a team, heads up on a neutral floor. Duke, you drew, you should be ahead of them. You just should.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, and Duke was ninth or 10th before the week, so I mean they moved up several places. You could have just left them one spot behind Kentucky since they have the game that they played.
Matt Jones
All right, so do you think we finished the non conference now with just one loss? I mean, we still basically we play Colgate, Louisville, Brown and Ohio State. I mean of those, Ohio State may be the hardest, but they've been bad this year. Although they are going to get Aaron Bradshaw back for the game. I mean, if we finish the non conference 12 and 1, is that not like a huge success?
Mario
Massive success. Absolutely massive. Louisville. Louisville is going to be. I don't know why this cape falls in life.
Drew Franklin
Got to be more consistent.
Shannon The Dude
Come on, Max.
Mario
I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Mario. Well, Louisville's much better though. But I think we're going to be able to handle them. But Louisville is much better, which is going to make the game a little bit more entertaining than it's been in previous years.
Matt Jones
Louisville is much better, but they cannot shoot. Like if you score 75 points, you beat them. They cannot shoot. They're actually pretty good defensively, but they are one of the worst shooting teams I've ever. I've ever seen. I feel like we match up pretty well against them, although they are physical, so they'll try to beat us up a little.
Shannon The Dude
I think Kentucky's the better team right now, but I mean, anytime it's a rivalry game, you never know. So as excited as I am about the win against Gonzaga, I won't be lying if there's a little bit of nervousness Looking ahead to that.
Matt Jones
Oh, you are nervous.
Shannon The Dude
Not nervous like they could lose, but just anytime you're playing Louisville and since they just got us a football, you just don't, you don't want to drop.
Matt Jones
I'm always nervous for the game. But if just objectively, I mean, they've lost one of their two best players due to injury. They, they actually played well against Duke, but the moment they started missing shots, they just fell apart. I think duke went on an 18 oh run in that game. I mean, are you, are you nervous about it?
Drew Franklin
No. I think this Kentucky team's much better than we even gave him credit for. I thought they'd have three losses going into conference play. They're only going to have one. They're going to win the rest of these games. They're. They're a really good basketball team. They showed me something this week. Even the loss down in Clemson, they showed me some fight and some grit and some toughness.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean the Clemson loss, we said before we left on the trip, the Clemson loss doesn't hurt you if you beat Gonzaga. You'd almost. If you told me we're going to go one and one, I'd rather get the game against Gonzaga than the game against Clemson.
Mario
Yeah. And we learn a lot about this team against Clemson, I think with it with a good road matchup. But the good thing about only having, well, hopefully one loss leading into conference play is that conference play is going to be a gauntlet. There's so many good SEC teams. So to get away with only one loss non conference is massive.
Matt Jones
Right now the SEC has five teams in the top 10. They have nine teams in the top 25. They have 12 teams projected in the NCAA tournament. Just to give you a sense of that, if the, if the SEC were to get 12 in, it would be the most teams a conference has ever gotten in in the history of the NCAA tournament. I saw Chris Spatola. You may remember him. He's the Brooklyn. They go hard. That guy, I heard him on the TikTok. He was doing a little interview. He said he thinks the SEC this year may be the best league in the history of college basketball.
Drew Franklin
Could be.
Matt Jones
I want you to think about that. The best league in the history of college basketball. So we're going to pick up a bunch of losses, but we're also going to have a strength of schedule that's going to be like unbelievable going into the tournament. We'll take a break. Take your calls. 859-280-2287. Brooklyn. We go hard.
Ryan Lemond
We go hard. Brooklyn. They go hard.
Max Duffy
TJ Smith, personal injury attorney.
Matt Jones
Call TJ he'll make him pay.
Ryan Lemond
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
That was a great moment in UK basketball. Was that Jacob Toppin Shannon? Is that who was going hard? According to Sapitola. That was awesome on a dunk. I loved it. We have some breaking news.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, hang on. Caught me off guard.
Matt Jones
The owner of one of the major cock fighting venues in eastern Kentucky.
Drew Franklin
Oh.
Matt Jones
Will spend eight months in home detention. Robert Baker of the Whitesburg Chicken Pit has pleaded guilty to commit animal fighting. Conspiracy to commit animal fighting. He will be required to spend eight months in home detention, play $85,000 to the government, and shut down the Whitesburg Chicken Pit, believed to be the largest cockfighting arena in eastern Kentucky. First of all, he should have never named it the Whitesburg Chicken Pit. He. I mean, I think that gave police an indication, Drew, of what might be going on. He should have called it like Whitesburg Building. I just don't think when you call it a chicken pit, people be like, what's he mean by that?
Shannon The Dude
I would have had a cover up, maybe a skating rink in there to throw him off my trail.
Matt Jones
You would have put a skating rink in.
Shannon The Dude
Okay, but man, Kentucky, we are just cracking down on all this.
Matt Jones
We are. A couple years ago, this would never happen if Matt Bevitt was governor. He said if he was governor, he would just let the cockfighting go.
Shannon The Dude
He was going to change the state bird to a cock fighter.
Mario
I guess I got to find something else to do this weekend, man. But the really nice thing about that, though is, and we saw this in Seattle, is now those chickens get to go on and pursue other careers. Like being a psychic.
Matt Jones
That's right. In Seattle, they have a chicken psychic. We didn't end up getting to go, but I wanted to get my fortune read. So there you go. Eastern Kentucky, you never know what's going. You never know the headline that's going to come out of Weitzberg, but they are stopping that crime. I want to go to the phones, but we do have to talk for just a minute about Luigi. The whole country is talking about Luigi, the guy who, who allegedly shot the insurance person. First of all, on a serious note, it's amazing to me that anyone is still cheering this person on. But it goes to show how weird America is sometimes that let people would be cheering on a person who literally murdered someone in cold blood.
Drew Franklin
Shot him in the back.
Matt Jones
Shot him in the back. But he has now been caught the way he was caught, though. I mean, next to Eric C. Khan in the Hardee's in Honduras. This is up there. He had. He had hidden for five days from the NYPD, police, the FBI. They catch him in Altoona, Pennsylvania, at a McDonald's because he stopped in to get breakfast. And one of the workers at McDonald's spotted him and called the police. Few amazing things to me about this story, Drew. Let's start with the person that worked at McDonald's. Would you have recognized him based just on that picture of him pulling down to flirt with the girl in the mask? Like, if you're in Altoona, Pennsylvania, you can't assume he's going to be there. Like, that's just a town in Pennsylvania. Kind of amazing that they recognized him, right?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. He should have done something with those eyebrows before coming as someone with some pretty big eyebrows. Those things are monsters. And that the person even said that's what gave it away.
Matt Jones
Oh, did, did they? I didn't realize that.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, the eyebrows got.
Matt Jones
So you think you should have gotten an eyebrow wax.
Shannon The Dude
And only the two images we had online that were released to spot him at a McDonald's and to be confident enough to call it in. That's pretty crazy.
Matt Jones
That's kind of amazing.
Ryan Lemond
That person needs to stop working at McDonald's and be a detective.
Matt Jones
Be a detective.
Shannon The Dude
I agree to your point about the people rooting for the guy. They have flooded that McDonald's with one star reviews and saying their employees are rats and snitches.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, of course they should have tried to catch him. Like, I don't get. Now it's come out. Of course he was rich himself. So like, everybody, especially people, people on my side of the aisle, acted like a fool about this stuff. Like, they acted like a fool about him. Like acting like he was some sort of hero. It made. It genuinely made me mad the way people on the left were acting. But now they're switching their tune because it turns out he was like a Joe Rogan guy and he liked like right wing stuff. So now they're like so ridiculous, all of them. But anyway, so he gets caught. He had on him, Max, a paper bag with his gun and a manifesto of why he had killed the guy. Here's a little secret. What are you doing? You've basically now given the police and the prosecutors premeditated murder. Like you basically. I mean, he was probably gonna get charged with that anyway. But now they can prove you did it on purpose because they have him writing, why he was gonna do it. Unbelievable. He was carrying it around. He had it with him at McDonald's.
Mario
Was he just getting a sausage McMuffin before he turned himself in? Like, what. Why did he. Why did he not go through the drive thru?
Matt Jones
I have the exact same question. So he clearly was not the criminal mastermind that we thought he was because he got caught in Altoona with all of the stuff on him. Right.
Drew Franklin
I don't. When I saw that, was he going to mail the manifesto into a newspaper or a TV station or something? Like, why was he carrying around hand wrote it?
Matt Jones
I thought I was the last person in America that hand wrote anything. I mean, I'm gonna hand write my final exam tonight and then try to cut tight. Like, I didn't know people hand wrote anything and.
Shannon The Dude
Well, did you see his YouTube video that went up?
Matt Jones
I've not seen his YouTube.
Shannon The Dude
Hours after his arrest, he had a scheduled video that went up and it says, like, if you're watching this, I've been arrested. And it says something about more to come. And it says December 11th at the end. So it. People are speculating what kind of plan he might have or what he could possibly be doing.
Matt Jones
I think he's just going to be an idiot. I think the fact that he got caught at McDonald's makes me think he is not. Like, everybody likes to give these people superhuman powers. I think he's just. I think he's just an idiot. I just can't believe. I mean, I understand there are women that think he's hot and I get like, remember that was like that with the Menendez brothers?
Drew Franklin
Oh, yeah.
Matt Jones
Many years ago. Still, though, he murdered a guy like. Like, I don't care what. Of course, health care costs too much. But he murdered a guy, Ryan. Like, it's unbelievable to me.
Drew Franklin
That guy was still somebody's husband, somebody's dad, somebody's brother, you know, that's what's the sad part about it was kudos. Like we said, the person at McDonald's to recognize somebody like that in Altoona, Pennsylvania, like, if he walked in here, lect you think anybody would recognize him here?
Matt Jones
I wouldn't, no. Now the fact he is named Luigi, that is funny. Okay? And we of course have a Mario on staff. So I think that the Luigi part. Did you see that? You know, when Luigi wears like a thing on his hat that's green and says l. You know, I mean, if you watched Mario and Luigi, Amazon sold a hundred thousand toboggans. Luigi toboggans yesterday.
Shannon The Dude
I didn't See that?
Drew Franklin
I did not see that.
Matt Jones
100,000. If you want living proof that we as Americans are the most ridiculous people on earth. 100,000. Luigi Toboggans.
Shannon The Dude
Yesterday I saw Macy's.com sold out of the jacket he was wearing in the surveillance. And I mean, you can't. That jacket is now completely sold out across the.
Matt Jones
Unbelievable. Who's up first?
Ryan Lemond
Let's go to Adam.
Matt Jones
Adam. Go ahead, Adam. Hey, guys, wanted to call. I called in after the Duke game, gave you all a scenario of over. Under 24 and a half wins. I think everybody took 25 and 6. So I wanted to give you another scenario. The first third of our SEC schedule is a top 10 Florida team at home. Yes. At Georgia. At top 25 Mississippi State. Yes.
Drew Franklin
Top 25 A&M at home, top 10.
Matt Jones
Alabama at home and at Vandy. So of those six games, over three and a half wins. That's a great question. I'm going to say over. I mean, we do have a very hard SEC schedule. Let's. I mean, but. But I don't know that you could have an easy SEC schedule because I don't think anybody's bad. Except maybe South Carolina. Like, I don't think there's going to be. The problem is we could probably do that for every little thing. But let me. Let's go through the first. Like he just did. The first part of the sec, we play Florida at home. Florida's ranked number nine. We go to Georgia on the road. That may be in theory one of the easier road games we have, but they're all right this year as well. Then we go to Mississippi State. They're ranked. Host A and M at home. They're ranked. Host Alabama, they're ranked. Go to Vandy, then go to Tennessee, their number one. Then Arkansas at home. There might be some stuff with that. Go to Ole Miss. So I have to get to February 8th when we host South Carolina to find a game that's at home against an unranked team. And then after that, Tennessee at home at Texas, Vandy at home at Alabama at number 13, Oklahoma, Auburn number two at home, LSU at home. Finish at Missouri. We actually. The two. Two of the three or four easiest games are at the end. And by the way, Missouri just beat number one Kansas. I mean, this schedule is unbelievable. There's like two games in here that are easy. Maybe Vandy at home and like LSU at home. Everything else. You could lose any of these games. Ryan, like this, the SEC is going to be crazy.
Drew Franklin
Talk about the, you know, the Collar was talking about the first six games. February is brutal. That month of February is brutal for Kentucky. And like Shannon's going to tell you, Vandy's nine and one right now. You mentioned Missouri, the beat number one Kansas. There's a lot of tough teams in the conference, not just the ranked teams.
Matt Jones
So I don't know, I honestly don't know how you, I don't know how you say that this. We could lose a lot, a lot of games, Drew.
Shannon The Dude
And in those that run of like the first eight or nine games, the unranked opponent is Arkansas, maybe the biggest game on the schedule. It's a bunch of ranked teams. And then John Calipari come to Lexington.
Matt Jones
Yeah, and I think that John Calipari game is going to be a little difficult. They'll be a little tough as well.
Shannon The Dude
Just might be a lot of attention.
Matt Jones

Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. They just announced that Creed is coming to Rupp Arena. You like Creed, Ryan?
Drew Franklin
I do like Creed.
Matt Jones
Yes, you do like Creed?
Drew Franklin
I like Creed.
Matt Jones
Oh, you all right there, Shannon?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, we were having some issues here so that the commercials just started automatically playing.
Matt Jones
All right, we'll tell them to stop. Do you like Creed?
Drew Franklin
I like Creed. Yeah, I don't Mind going to that concert?
Matt Jones
Yeah, I think.
Ryan Lemond
I'm not really much of a fan.
Matt Jones
They kind of creep kind of sucks.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You're going.
Shannon The Dude
Can't wait.
Drew Franklin
Really.
Shannon The Dude
Creed gets so much hate. When Hire came out, that was one of the best songs of all time.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Here's what happened. Like, the Tick Tock Gen Z crowd made Creed cool again, you know, like they should.
Matt Jones
Is that right? Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, yeah. Creed came back thanks to Tick Tock and Gen Z. Wow.
Matt Jones
I didn't know that.
Mario
It's kind of cool to sing in that voice. Walking around the house sometimes, like, you just sound a lot cooler when you sing like that.
Matt Jones
Do you do that? Do you walk around singing? Good.
Mario
You just sounded cooler.
Matt Jones
That's true. I did, actually. I think. I think you're right.
Shannon The Dude
I think we got one step closer to going national.
Matt Jones
859-280-22-287. One person writes. Matt, I'm not surprised that America has fallen for Luigi. We fall for stupid things all the time. I mean, that's true, but, like, this is a little different. This is a mert. Like, this isn't just somebody who did an amazing dance. This is someone that actually. And it turns out, like, he's from this rich Baltimore family. Like this old money, you know, I do. I do like that. It turns out. Because I was so annoyed at the people on my side, I was celebrating him that I'm glad that now he's everything they don't like. Because it was stupid for you to celebrate him from the beginning. I didn't like that. And I'm normally a person who will laugh at things, but come on, you don't celebrate people who murder on the streets of New York.
Shannon The Dude
Shooting somebody in the back, in the.
Matt Jones
Back at 6:45 in the morning.
Shannon The Dude
We can all agree the health care industry needs a lot of correcting, but that's an extreme measure. Taking their own hands.
Matt Jones
And do people not think they're just gonna. They'll just replace that guy with someone else who will do the same things? Like, you didn't accomplish anything.
Drew Franklin
It's definitely premeditated. Like, he had a. Drove a bike, got into a car, went on a bus. Like he had it all planned out what he was gonna do.
Matt Jones
Well, I think him running and getting on a bike was probably more just being scared because, I mean, I don't think. I don't think that would have been the smartest getaway plan was to go get on a bike in Central park.
Mario
And then going to McDonald's wasn't the smartest McDonald's, Pennsylvania.
Shannon The Dude
Not that far away.
Matt Jones
Yeah, you're not even that far away, dude. But who's up next?
Ryan Lemond
Let's go to Richard.
Matt Jones
Richard. What's up, Richard?
Drew Franklin
Well, I'm tickled with the team. I think they're doing a good job. My question is how long were the two guards be out? And that old. That old one three one reminded me of the 75 team when they had all we had, the bigs and the guards that can shoot, which play the similar style ball. Yeah, just let me know how.
Matt Jones
Thank you, Richard. Man, he's loud. Like, he does not have a problem keeping the mic close to his.
Drew Franklin
He's very consistent.
Matt Jones
He is. He is very consistently loud. I think that's. That's true. The 13 1, probably the turning point in the game, right? I mean, like when we went to 131, started in a straight one three one, then it sort of would morph where it would start as a 13 1. Then when they made, I think Pope said the third pass, it would switch to man to man. Really confused by Gonzaga the whole time.
Mario
Yeah, it was probably maybe seven possessions or something. I thought even before that, though, just our. We started going underneath screens and just letting them shoot if he wanted to. Just daring him to shoot, which I thought was good. Again, it's good to be able to win multiple ways. Like that's going to be important and that's kind of gone away from the last few years where it's just we do what we do and if we're better than them, we're going to win. Now it's like, all right, if they're on top of us, this. We can make these adjustments and play, which is going to be important because SEC basketball is going to be really important.
Matt Jones
That was very keen on Cal's view always was we play the way we play, make people adjust to us. It looks like Pope will adjust to the opponent.
Drew Franklin
There won't be an instant where they're going to make adjustments at halftime. You know, coming out, putting that one three one zone on he. Maybe he knew something from Plank Gonzaga in the past. Maybe when he was at byu.
Matt Jones
You know, he said in the post game, I asked him about it, Drew, and he said, well, when you're getting your butt kicked, you might as well try something else. Which I like that viewpoint, honestly.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, I love, you know, everyone listening, love the second half adjustments. If I can be a little picky next time in one of these big games, let's just come out with a little more fire. Because against Duke and against Gonzaga, if we're all being honest, five or ten minutes in, I don't think anyone expected a win. Kentucky looked like two different teams at the start and finish of each game.
Matt Jones
The number one player in America, AJ DiBonsa.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, he's.
Matt Jones
He just committed to BYU. We were just in Provo, Utah. You're the number one player in America. I'm sure you got a lot of money, but he could have gotten a lot of money anywhere. Why. Why go to byu?
Drew Franklin
We were on campus. We saw how friendly everybody was. Maybe they were all very friendly.
Mario
Very, very friendly.
Matt Jones
It is pretty not fog that day.
Shannon The Dude
He's from Massachusetts, and for his senior year, he transferred to a Utah school. So, I mean, he's. Seems the Cougs are taking good care of him.
Matt Jones
I will say this about byu, and this is not to make fun. I find collectively Mormon people to be the nicest people on earth. Totally. That's not me being. That's not me exaggerating. They're the nice people on earth. I will say, though, there is a sense of. If you ever saw that movie Pleasantville, Love that movie. That when you walk on BYU's campus, everybody's just smiling like, hey, hey. Everyone, like, everybody has a smile that's like way over the top. But they were also very nice. Literally. Have you ever been anywhere where people just come up to you and invite you to go to dance? That's what they did there, Mario. People just walked up and were like, would you like to go to the 80s bebop winter ball? It's a Winter ball is Saturday. And, like, everyone was so happy. Maybe that's what happened with AJ DeBonsa. He showed up on campus and he was like, well, the Winter Ball is Saturday. I could go.
Mario
You couldn't pay me enough money to have to walk around that campus more than one day a year. I mean, there's bodies in their backyards. I know it for sure. Their smile was too weird. And if we learn anything from this trip, what you want in life is some honest feedback. You don't need smiles, niceties, you know, telling you you're doing really good. You need honest feedback so you can grow and get better. Isn't that right, Ryan?
Drew Franklin
Well, we enjoyed the BYU bookstore, bought.
Matt Jones
A couple Christmas presents, and Ryan continued his. I'll buy my son a Christmas present if it's on the discount rack.
Drew Franklin
Yes.
Matt Jones
That's where he bought all of his Christmas presents the entire time. I liked it, though. I enjoyed byu. I'm just surprised that the number one player in America that that's where they'd want to go. I'll tell you another thing I was surprised about. I had no idea about the geography of eastern Oregon and eastern Washington. That's a part of like many of you out there. Unless you've been there. I didn't realize, like, it's like a forest. Well, it's not like a forest. It is a forest. There's no place in America, except maybe like Vermont that has that. I guess I just never thought about that part of the country. Huge forest up and down and windy and like freezing. Snow capped. I mean, I'd never, I guess I'd never been out there. That's a completely different part of the country.
Drew Franklin
It is. And we saw first, you know, the flatlands in Nebraska, then the mountains in Colorado.
Matt Jones
But those are Rocky Mountains. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
The hills of eastern Oregon and eastern Washington. It's, it is different.
Ryan Lemond
The Oregon basketball floor is all trees.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, I, when I think of Oregon and Washington, I think of Seattle, Portland. I think of like the rocks on the ocean. Most of it is trees. Like, go from, you know, Portland and Seattle, go east. And you're like, man, this is a lot of blank space. It's a lot of trees and it's a lot of forest. And I guess I just drew. Never thought about it. Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
And you get a little Mount Rainier. We drove around that. It's just like, it's hard. You don't, you don't really see forests and mountains like that.
Matt Jones
Except that area, that area is beautiful, but it's also very different than anywhere else I'd been in the US we will take a break and come back. We gotta talk about some football. A lot going on. This is ksr.

KSR Podcast Episode Summary: December 10, 2024 – Hour 1
Hosted by Matt Jones and the KSR crew from iHeartPodcasts and Sports Talk 790 (WKRD-AM), this episode of Kentucky Sports Radio delivers a comprehensive blend of sports analysis, personal anecdotes, and listener interactions. Below is a detailed summary highlighting the key discussions, insights, and memorable moments from the hour.
Kentucky vs. Gonzaga Game Recap After returning from a significant trip to Seattle, Matt Jones opened the show with reflections on Kentucky's impressive victory against Gonzaga.
Comeback Victory: Matt emphasized Kentucky’s ability to overcome a 16-point halftime deficit, marking one of their biggest comebacks. "It was down 16, one of the biggest comebacks from a halftime deficit," Matt noted [07:14].
Key Performances: Drew Franklin highlighted the standout performances of Jackson Robinson and Andrew Carr, stating, "Jackson Robinson and Andrew Carr have separated themselves as the two best players on the team," [09:22]. Shannon added, "They did it coming back from down 16 at the half, making adjustments," reinforcing the team’s resilience [09:03].
