Now here's Matt Jones. Welcome back number 2T Sports Radio here in Louisville, Kentucky. I'm looking forward to the next topic with Shannon. But first, if you look at the tax machine, Ryan 772-774-5254 I'm not sure that giving back that money would would help mark people. So if it's not going to help, I wouldn't do it. I mean $2 million be be better. I just think there comes a point where people are like it's not my money so it's just play money to them in some ways, you know what I mean? Like, because there's a lot of people listening to this show and I get this. I'm one of these people that told me if you would pay me 1 million, I'm in. Right. So the difference between 9 and 8 to them Ryan is negligible. You know. True. Yes. I don't know. I'm in the boat that I think it would help my feeling of him and the program if he made that sacrifice. Is it too early Drew to talk bracketologies? Should we like we shouldn't look at them yet. When or are you at all interested? I'm absolutely interested. Anything about this Kentucky basketball team and its potential of winning it all? I'm all about it. All right, so then let me bring up the new bragatology. Just came out as Kentucky is a 1 seed in the West. The west is in San Francisco. Who's ready for another long drive? Or we could fly. Yeah, we could fly. They got flights out here. They may practice on Wednesday, play on Thursday. You want to pay for it? You can. Now our two seed is Gonzaga. That would be a nice rematch. Three seed Kansas, four seed ucla. But of course what my eyes would get to is the one seed is Kentucky playing in Cleveland. The eight, nine matchup, Maryland. And the nine seed is St. John's Arkansas. Arkansas. Can you imagine Kentucky, Arkansas, second round game in Cleveland. Wow. What that atmosphere would be like and what would be on the line in such a game. Drew, like that would be the most nerve wracking game since Kentucky, Louisville in the Final Four. Right? It would. Would you run for it or embrace it? Because I kind of want it. I kind of want that opportunity. There's also the possibility we hype it up and then Maryland and we're talking about how Cal. That would be the funniest. Everybody says Kentucky plays Arkansas, Shannon. And then they lose to Maryland. That would be. That would be the best answer. Their coach has a history of going out in the first round. I could see that happening. Yep. I do too. All right, so let's talk about the drones because I know it's all that Shannon is reading when he goes home. I don't. I think this drone story is fascinating less because of the drones, which I think are whatever. Then it is the fact of something that genuinely worries me, which is no one believes anything anymore. And the crazier the story, the more people buy it. So last night, the Department of Defense, the FBI, the CIA, the Federal Aviation association, they all released a joint statement. Did you see that, Shannon? I didn't read it. They released a joint statement and it basically said, look, there's a ton of drones. What is happening is there were some commercial drones that were targeted in one area. That's the first thing people saw. And now people are seeing things that are normally in the air and just thinking they're drones, like planes, satellite, like, like little weather balloons. Also said that there were. There are some military drones that just circle America anyway and basically saying we have no reason to believe that any of these are out of the ordinary, but that there's basically some hysteria going on that after a couple nights where there were more than usual, now people are saying that they're seeing everything and it's just normal stuff. I take it as just copycat people. People that are just trying to pile on. I totally agree with you got a drone now I'm going to go fly my drone. And now that'll scare people, too. Right now, again, there's so many fake articles out there. I read something about there was drones kind of by the White House. Did you see that? Like, what's. If that's true? What's that about? But see, I don't believe that. I think they would shoot those. That's what I'm saying. If there was a drone next to the White House, they'd shoot it. So that has to be us, though, is what I mean. It has to be. No, I. But I believe so. I don't. I guess part of me is I don't understand what these people are scared about. First of all, one thing that needs to happen. We need to have laws about drones, because right now, people can do whatever they want. Would you all agree we should have rules limiting where drones can go, who can fly them, et cetera? I thought there already were. Not really commercial drones can go up almost anywhere outside of. I think I saw Pete Buttigieg say, outside of over an airport or a military base, people can fly drones anywhere. That, to me, should be illegal. Yep. I agree. Do you all agree with that? Yeah. Like, you want them over, like, a stadium where the Super Bowl. Thousand people there. I fully grant you that. But right now, apparently, that can happen. Congress should. But there should be a law regulated. But don't you think this whole thing, Ryan, is mass hysteria? Like. Like people are just getting themselves worked up over nothing? I think that's a lot to it. Yes. And I think both you guys hit on. I think it. Once they. Some were cited, other people got in on it. Now it becomes a thing where, you know, they want to get in on the. That. The secrety. That's not a word secretly for that guy. Listening. Put that one on the list. Secrety. So they want to get on the secret. He. What of, you know, being one of the dudes that's flying a drone over some parts of New Jersey. That's why you need to stand up. You can't focus when you're lying. Exactly. This is all happening because you're lying down. Are you standing up right now? No, he has kind of tilted back down. Sit back up. Right. Okay. In the back of the seat. Connect. Okay. Erect. All right. I'm fully erect. All right. Turn his mic off again. Okay, I got it, Drew. Three minute. Three minute. I'm also turning off this fire after he said that. I'm not. I don't like the mood Anymore. Three minutes. Three minutes. All right. Now, Drew, do you think it's like, a bunch of worry about nothing? Oh, no, this is absolutely something going on. I think you all are blind. I'm not going to say it's aliens, but this is not normal behavior. Our next president himself has even said something's up, and he's not even going places. Well, that certainly is the thing that would. You all can keep your heads down. I'm looking to the sky. All right. So what? But. All right. This is my problem, though, Drew. What is going to convince you that it's okay? Like, the problem is you just had the Department of Defense, all of these agencies in charge of this, all issue a statement saying nothing's happening. Really? That you don't believe that? So what is it going to take? I don't think there's going to be anything that will convince you. Convince me what? That it's not a big deal. Well, I think it's a pretty big deal. Every news station and every website and our next president are talking about. That's not. But they're all saying. I mean, if there's a drone outside right now. Wait a minute. That wouldn't be. They're all saying that it's not anything that will hurt us. They're just saying there's a lot of drones. They've said more than that. I'm not going to act like a crazy person. What did they say? What have they said? I can tell you one story I read. Why is this mute? You can't turn. I turned it up. My three minutes was up. That was not. That was a minute and a half. Here's one story I saw, and you comment. Tell me the story. Yeah. That there were some nuclear warheads that the Ronald Reagan administration hid in New Jersey and they're trying to find them. Who's they? I just. Some wormhole I went down on Twitter last night. They. That are trying to find the secretary people, maybe. Yeah, maybe. But you understand this. I want to just do technology for a second. You know, there are satellites out there that have been up for years that can see, like, on the ground with perfect clarity. They don't need drones. There are already satellites that can see everything. Like the idea that they need a drone above your house to see what's happening in your yard. They can already do that. From the. From the space. Right. So any country that would want to find the Ronald Reagan nuclear warheads, they can already do that. They don't need a drone to do that. Okay. Have you seen the video of the two drones that go up to look at this ufo, and it shoots down the drones. Okay, you got it? Have you seen that? No. Crazy. It is real. Drones get shot down by the phone. I also saw the guy who posted look at this drone that was shot down. And it was a model of a Star wars aircraft that somebody was taking to a show. I will say it is hard to follow because the Internet is so reckless that there are a ton of fake videos. Like, 90% of the video is about the drones right now. So I guess what I'm asking you is, what are you worried about? Like, what Ryan just said is the kind of thing people are worried about, but they can already do all of those things. Like, everything. Like, every spot on Earth. You think about Google Earth, you can see everything. Yeah. It's not live, though. It's just. It is for these foreign countries. But if this is just everyday things, then why are there so many meetings about it? Mayors commenting about how. Because they are. Because they're having all. Because they're having all these people call and freak out, and they've got to figure out something to say, they can't be like me and go, you people are idiots. They have to, like, try to. I mean, why is Trump talking about it? Because he wants to be looked as the savior when he takes over. Would you feel different if this was happening over Lexington instead of New Jersey? If I looked up and saw a drone over my house, I wouldn't like it. Granted. But at the same time, unless we pass laws making that illegal, people can do it. The drone can just come up to your window and look. I can't come up to your window, but there is again, I heard Pete Buttigieg say people are allowed to fly drones unless as long as they're so high in the air. And it can't be over federal air, it can't be over air airports or, like, military facilities, but they can. And in my opinion, Shannon, don't get me wrong, it shouldn't be like that. Yeah, yeah. They've got to regulate it better than what they have. I agree. It should be regulated. But, Ryan, I think a lot of it is. It's like when you go to a restaurant. When you go to a restaurant, you have no idea what the preparation of the food is like, correct? True. We have no idea. We just trust it. Right now, everything you're worried about is already in the sky. If they want. If the Russians or the Iranians want to, they could look in your house today. So what are you worried about it's already there. If it's already there, why is everyone talking about it? Because they're talking about it. Because people like you are talking about it. And it's like it fuels the story. It makes you click. Right? Are they talking about. Because they can see these drones. We can't see the satellite. Maybe so. You may be right about that. But just because we can see it doesn't make any more dangerous than the stuff we can't see. Actually, I would argue the stuff we can't see. Shannon is more worried than what we can see. Probably right about that, but I don't like it. We gotta figure out what's going on with all these drones. Aliens. I hate being the dude that takes up for the establishment. You just trust them. But if the department. I guess my point is the monkey bread. I guess my point is if all of the federal agencies are telling you it's okay, what else is it gonna take? Like, what would convince you otherwise? What? Joe Rogan, like, what's it going to take? You're not going to be convinced by anything we have to do. I haven't seen everyone say it's okay. I've seen their. Well, did you see the statement? Did you see the statement that was released last night? I did not. What did it say? I just told you what it said. It said that these drones are. There was a bunch of them that were commercial over an area and now pretty much what everyone is seeing are things that are always in the sky. It's just people are paying more attention to them, looking for those nuclear warheads. What, those commercial. The Reagan ones? Yeah, the Reagan one. The Reagan. There you go. I don't think anybody's buying it. It's the Reagan nuclear warhead. But. But not though nobody's ever going to buy anything anymore. Well, it's probably they're just going to walk around all day and go, what they believe. Yeah. Yeah. Well, that's what we need, is everybody believing what they believe. Get some aluminum foil. I don't want to be living in fear of the shoe dropping, so to speak. Right. You know, hiring somebody to do credit repair. What do you. You want to read? You want to give me a sample of what you got there? Well, they're all over the place. Okay, but one person writes, matt, you're covering up for the establishment because you're in the monkey bread. Monkey bread, y'all. See, I really think you should be smarter than trusting the government. It's not about that. I don't trust the government on everything. But if you don't want me to trust the Department of Defense, who do you want me to trust? Seriously, what. What organization is more trustworthy to you than them? Reddit. Reddit. Okay, yeah, for sure. Let's trust Reddit. That's a good idea. I'm not saying I totally trust the Department of Defense, but I trust them more than whatever I see on X, which could be fake and probably is most of the time. Maybe they're taking the stance. They're trying to calm us down. In all seriousness, like, I'm not even kidding. What are you worried about happening? Have you never read War of the Worlds? Yes, and it's fake. People, buildings. What are you worried about? In all seriousness, let's say this is the worst thing you can think of. What are you worried about happening? Besides, it's just weird. What are you worried about? The world blowing up. Okay, but what does that mean, the world can blow up? Now, Russia could hit a button and the world would blow up. So you can't worry about that. That can already happen. So what are you worried about? If it could. We should still check on things, make sure it's not about to happen. I bet. I bet they do check on it. I don't think you checking on it is going to fix it. Well, I'm not checking on it. The current drones could be checking on it. I would bet you the American. I would bet the American government is already checking on that. So what else? That's what this could be. So do you think American government has drones in other countries spying on. Of course we do. And. But we don't even need the drones. We have satellites. We have high powered satellites that can see on the ground any spot in the world right now and we've had them for years. We don't need the drones. Yeah, Ryan. We don't need the drones. Yeah, Ryan. Why do we need an old guy McDonald's to catch the shooter? Because he was very smart. Tyler. What's up, Tyler? Tyler, go ahead. Hey guys, not on the topic of drones, but so you guys are talking yesterday about people who had famous big performances against Louisville. I was wondering if you had time to play super quick card killer trivia. Well, to give it a shot. Go ahead. Okay. So Lamont Butler obviously had a big game and you know that's like they keep track of pras like in the NBA like points, rebounds and assists. He had 42 combined points, rebounds and assists since the Cal era. That is second to who in the Louisville game or just overall? Yes, just in the Louisville game. Who would have had the most points, rebounds and assists added together in the Cal era? In the Louisville game? Yes. Antonio Reeves. Close. I'll give you one hit. It was no. 1 you all mentioned yesterday. Kind of typical to this person's personality. Understated. But had a huge game against Louisville. Michael Kidd, Gilchrist. That's it. That's it. That's it. That is correct. Drew Franklin. Nice job, Drew. 24 and nine. 24 points. 19 rebounds against. He had 19 rebounds in that game. Wow. People forget about that. Yeah. Oscar had 24 and 14 when he played against them. But MKG went off against the cards in the first matchup. 19. That's amazing. A good info. I appreciate it. That'll be my call of the day. There you go. I didn't realize that. That's. That is amazing. Drew. 19. 24. 19 for MKG. I remember the 19 and then he scored a lot of points. That's why I went with that. Guess it was an outstanding game from him. Yeah, Bill. Go ahead, Bill. Yeah. Hey, Matt. Hey, well, first off, the greatest comedy line you said today is, if you can't trust the Department of Defense, what can you trust? I. I'm not saying you don't trust everything you say, but look at the last 20 years. Okay, world's on fire. But who would you trust? But who would you trust over the department? I'm not, I'm not saying trust the department. I'm. I'm saying to you, what entity or organization do you trust more than them? Oh, I'd say there's. I mean, I would say give me one if you've got me one. I don't. At the end of the day, I don't think you should trust any entity of government. Not saying that they're not trustworthy in certain aspects. All right, so if we're not going to trust anything, then I don't know how you walk through your day. Well, I'm not saying you don't trust anything I'm saying, but you don't trust. I don't think you can trust any 100% of what they say. And then with regards to the drone, I agree. But if I don't. But when we're talking about. Just to get my point, I agree with you. Don't trust anything 100%. I'm with you. Certainly not the guy. Yeah. Either side, whatever side you're on. But when it comes to something like this, I don't know how you can reasonably trust anyone more than the Department of Defense. These people on social media and the news media, do you really think they have any idea what they're talking about? Oh, I think there may be aspects of it that they're. That. That are correct. But at the end of the day. So with a drone, if you have a drone, you fly it up in the air, they know exactly you. It has to lock into a GPS on your phone, has to have location on before you take off. And there are restrictions on drones. You can't just go. You, if you're anywhere near an airport, certain restrictions. I think you can only go up to a certain level. Maybe 100ft. Yeah. You'll have GPS on. Yeah. So there are. But if you look, there's legislation right now that, regarding drones that I'm not arguing there shouldn't be some law, new laws written. You can look at these wars in Ukraine and see what these drones can do. I'm not arguing against it. But if you don't think these are our drones, these aren't UFOs, these aren't Iran, These aren't Russia. It's probably tech. Okay, so what I'm saying, though. Yeah. So there are. There's legislation that they're trying to pass right now. If you don't think that they're not smart enough to go, let's whip everybody up into a friend, make it a lot easier pushing this through. That's all that I'm saying. Yeah, that's my point. Same thing. You and I are saying this, right, but the same people that told you to wear a cloth mask and stand six feet apart. This is not a COVID vaccine conversation. I'm just saying, ultimately, his conclusion is the same as mine, Shannon, which is the getting worried about it to me, is ridiculous. Yeah. I mean, there's nothing we can do about. There's nothing we can do about it. And if it's not aliens, it's not Iran. And I'll make even bigger prediction. In two weeks, there won't be one person talking about this. Yeah. It'll go away, all get bored and move on. We'll all get bored and we'll move it out. This frenzy. We will move away because that's what we do. We get real angry about something, and then we move to something else. I'm not going to Bob and Jamestown on this. You just want him to sit on hold for the rest of the show. I'm not going to. You think of all topics. Do you think this is the one? But this is. Call 574. It's going to be good. Bill. Go ahead, Bill. Yes, sir. Go ahead, Bill. All right. No, Bill. Destin. Go ahead. Jamestown's next. Destin. Hey. First time, Long time. What's up? Oh, they just need to get Katina to shoot the drones down. They'll be fine. She does. I was. I was calling. Even if I was the only one. Go ahead. I was calling the. The podcast was on last night, and the wife was asking me about what was going on in RUP arena, and I just bought tickets from my boy. It's our first time going. We're from Western Kentucky. Don't get that way very often. And she said, what's going to happen? Because the way you act in the living room, you're going to jail. And I said, well, I guess I'm gonna have to call the post game show and get Matt to come bail me out. I'll bail you out. I'll bail you out. So are you gonna stand during the game? I mean, I'll. I'll stand up when it gets rowdy and, you know, have a good time. It's just Vanderbilt, so hopefully we win and there's no problem, but. Yeah, I'll stand, so. Well, I'm glad you get to the game. Come by and see us before. All right. If you don't get to go very much, I will, I will. I've been there one time, many years ago when you opened. I'll stop by again. Thank you, sir. Appreciate it. I like reading like. Like the thing is about insane text. People are still, like, they're still nice. I like all of you. I like 99. The crazier in some ways, the better. This, Shannon, is the. I'm not saying this is true, but this is the kind of explanation, Shannon, I can believe. Okay. Okay. The BBC, which, by the way, I read the BBC more for news now than anything because I think it's more objective than most American outlets, says that there were some radioactive material in New Jersey that went missing two weeks ago and that British intelligence believes the drones are American drones looking for the material that went missing. Okay. All right. I'm not saying that's true, but that's an explanation that could make sense to me. Why wouldn't they just come out and tell us that? Everybody would. Because they probably would want people then they would start freaking out about what the radioactive material was. I guess the Belleville, New Jersey, mayor had said that in a press conference earlier this morning. There you go. That makes sense to me. Not saying that's it. I don't know. But that is an explanation that makes some sense to me. And you may be right, Shannon. Maybe they should just say that. Right? Because if we don't worry about the radioactive material, we're worried about something else. Well, that's what I'm saying. So you're worried then everybody will start worrying about the radioactive material at least. Because we are a freak out culture. But at least. At least we know what it is instead of just guessing. But what does that do for you? You know what it is. Okay, so now you know what it is. Do you feel better? Yeah. But aren't you going to worry about the radioactive material? No, I know what it is. It's fine. They'll take care of it. So you trust the government to take care of that? Scared of is the unknown. I agree with you. Yeah. So when people know, they're not going to be scared about it. To some extent I agree with you on that. But I also wish. I sound like such a simple person going trust the. But trust the establishment. But you do have to. If you don't trust people in the establishment, you can't leave your house. I try not to. Okay. If I could do this show from home, I would. Fair enough. Did you watch, Ryan, the. Did you see the end of the Marshall Vermont soccer game last night? I saw the highlights. I didn't watch it, but I did see the highlights. It was kind of awesome. It was awesome. Vermont has never won a national championship in anything, Drew. Anything. Any sport. They're in Vermont. Like when I say Vermont, what comes to your mind, Drew? Give me the first thing when I say Vermont. They don't have a Taco Bell. Is that real? Is that true? At one time they might now, but that was my fact years ago. Okay, Shannon, first thing you think of when I say Vermont. Snow. Snow, Brian? Yeah. Our trip up north, we went through it and it was nothing there but snow. I'm going to now say soccer because they were in extra time and the goal was exciting. The dude, like, he went around him and the goalie came out and he scored. And the way people went crazy. I don't. Was the game in Vermont? Why were there so many Vermont people there? Was that where the game was? I'm not for sure where it was, but I think I saw. This is like Vermont's first ever even game in a national title game. If you haven't seen the video, you got to go see it. It's awesome. Like, it's what's great about sports, Ryan. Fans losing their mind at Vermont where they'll probably never win anything again and getting to win a national team. You think those fans were sitting down? No. The police officers were threatening to throw those guys in jail. I do not think it was. It was. You saw it, Ryan. It was a great scene last Night. It was cool. And you said that's what the. That's the good part of sports, especially collegiate sports. You get those moments like that for this school that'll maybe never have a moment like this ever again. And what's this? You don't get many soccer walk offs like that. It was sudden death. So it was a true walk off in soccer to win the national championship. They don't do that in a lot. Marshall, by the way, is. I don't know if people know this in men's soccer. That's our rival, Ryan. We're in the same conference, and they're kind of our rival. And they went to the championship game. The championship game. Good run for them, too. Yeah. So who's up next? Oh, actually, I can pick it. Let's go to Matt. Actually, Bob. And Jamestown's up next, but I think Matt is the next one on the list. Go ahead, Matt. Yeah, can you hear me? Yes. I want to call out another caller, Tio. He was a gentleman that used to call in a couple times during the summer, and he had some bangers back to back. I'd love to hear the Louisville down rant if you're out there listening. And then a question with Ohio State coming up. Is there any more news on the Bradshaw situation? He's playing, I think. I think it was apparently some sort of domestic something, and I don't know if it got dismissed, but the school, he's back playing now, so I think he will play in that game on Saturday. Gotcha. That's all I got. Appreciate Merry Christmas to you as well. Did you say Happy Christmas? He said Happy Christmas. Yeah, Happy, merry. Same thing. Do people say Happy Christmas, happy holidays and merry Christmas combined? You get them both in one. Okay. Happy Christmas. I don't think I've ever heard anyone say Happy Christmas ever. But we'll start it. What? Do it. It is Christmas. Yeah. Be nice. Do it. Bob in Jamestown. Go ahead, Bob. Seasons greetings, Matt. Merry Christmas. You know, all this excitement about drones. Well, what about all this excitement? College basketball, postseason bracketology. I mean, we haven't even gotten any conference play now. I mean, it's ridiculous about, like, drone theory. I mean, there are rules on drones. Anything above 8 ounces, you have to have a license. There are strict regulations on them. And then as far as this business up in New Jersey, it probably is. I mean, if there's some nuclear radioactive material, you know, loose in the community, it is a. Could be a threat. There you go. That's all I'm gonna say. There you go. That's all I was gonna say. Thank you, Bob. Merry Christmas. As far as Bob calls calls go, Shannon. That was pretty normal. If you're ranking Bob calls. That was certainly one of them. That was one of them. I don't know how he transitioned from drones to bracketology. I didn't totally get that connection right there. He was just waiting on you to hang up on him. I think he's covering as much ground as possible, getting as much as he could. Ian. Cat Daddy, how are you? Hey, thanks, Matt. I appreciate it. Two things real quick. One, my moniker's catching some shade on your show there and it's kind of neat to explain. Yeah. I'm just an old retired basketball coach. Been listening to you for about 10 years. And my grandkids called me G Daddy and they said, what are you going to do in retirement? And I said, I'm going to sit on the boat and call into KSR like Bob from Jamestown every day. All right. And so I didn't realize how cringey it sounded until you started thinking that I'm a hooker instead of a grandpa. You're different. It's a little different when it's like you're just saying it. And that was. You're. It's just the nickname for college kids. It's a little much. Yeah, I know. Understand. But I thought it's cute because my five year old grandson thought of it. Number two, when Cal first came to Kentucky, we always said he knows what it's like to sit in that chair. Mm. I'd like to say when you watch Pope and the post game shows and the things he's done off the court and buying ice cream and everything. I'd like for us to refer to Coach Pope as he knows what it's like to walk in those shoes. It's the truth. I appreciate. Understands the fan base. Nice to hear from you. I appreciate the call, Drew. I was think we talked about this the other day and can you think of one thing? Let's say you were Pope's PR guru. You were his public relations. Is there anything you would tell him to do differently? Can you think of anything? I really can't. I think we'll eventually get to a point where we get some Pope speak going on. There's a little everything is super and beautiful and perfect when he talks right now. That's exciting. That might get a little stale over time, but that's me nitpicking thing he's doing right now. I really. I mean he beat Duke and Louisville already. What more do you want from the guy? There's top four in the country, number one in the bracketology. Even though Bob and Jamestown doesn't like it, he's doing everything he needs to do. At the Sunday last spring, Mitch Barnhart was talking about checking boxes. He just keeps checking off more boxes each time he gets an opportunity. Can you think of anything, Ryan, at all? Keep gas in your wife's car. Probably the only thing he needs to make sure he does. I mean, he gives you nuggets like he likes. You know, Cal used to make fun of his basketball bennies. Pope embraces it. And he talks about things like championship chest. And he doesn't just go, see what I did. See what I did. You see what I did. Look at that. You see what I did. Instead he goes, we have championship chess. We teach them blah blah. Our fans, I think love that, Ryan, 100% love it. And in fact, with, you know, the little tidbits we see at halftime, you know, talking to the coaches, the players, you know, what are you seeing, you know, trying to make some coaching adjustments and things like that, something we've not seen in long time. Yeah, I think that's another thing that the fans love about him. It is the most wonderful time of the year. You got hoops, you got football, you got hockey, you got it all going on. Playoff is this weekend. Some awesome games. Tennessee going to Ohio State. They're now saying there may be up to 40% of the fans there are Tennessee fans. That's crazy. I didn't know it was specifically British, but I guess I'd heard it in this song before. Yeah. Didn't know that. One person writes Matt, the police officer who came inside and said to the fan they should sit down was actually a Lexington Metro Police Department sergeant. He has no authority to do that inside Rupp arena unless it's an emergency. Emergency situation. He is there for. For traffic control. It was a mistake. What do you think about that, Ryan? Yeah, I mean, I know that they've out of that guy. I don't want to get into it, but, you know, his stuff is out there and if what you read earlier, just earlier in the show about, well, you can say he's a Louis fan. That's what you want to say. You want to say he's a Louisville fan. Right. But that's not. I don't, I don't think that has anything to do with it. But he is a traffic guy, right? Like that. Like he's out there. He. That actually is not his normal. I don't know what I'm talking about. But beat or whatever you would say for during those games. Yeah. And you know, while we're discussing it, you know, there are people who have written in who said he never actually threatened to arrest the guy, but he did say something like, well, if you don't do it, you can spend the night in the jail or something. Well, what does that mean if it doesn't sounds like a threat to me? I mean, I don't know. How would you interpret that if it wasn't? I don't know. I was just passing along what people said. He never. What does that mean? Beside. Okay, is there a difference between I will arrest you and you'll spend the night in jail? Like, does he is like, is he just going to go there voluntarily? Like, what. What's the, what's the difference? I don't, I don't know. I guess he said something like, yeah, you can sit down, you can spend the night in jail. One or the other. Sounds like an ultimatum, Drew. That sounds like to me to be arrested, it would seem like, yeah, if I'm on the other end. I'm interpreting that as a threat to be arrested for sure. Yeah, I don't think the Louisville thing matters at all. It's a fun plot twist for people on the Internet. Yeah, I don't think matters that. If anything, he's just surprised that people are at a basketball game standing up. If he's watching Louisville, he's probably just shocked by the whole scene altogether. What is this? What's going on in here? One person writes, matt, I tend to agree with you that people overreact on things, but I'm amazed how much you will trust the government. See, here we go again. You should have known by now that no matter who is in charge, people lie. Of course they lie. But I don't understand what people are trusting. If, like, if you don't trust the government, who do you trust? You trust? You know the Theo Vaughan podcast? Shannon, do you trust ksr? Do you trust? I mean, like, I love people who say, think for yourself. I'm for that. But like almost all of our opinions come from somebody else. I hope people know that. Like, I hope, you know, like, you don't just wake up organically and have a million thoughts. You're reading them from somewhere. Do you trust them? Like on some point you can't get along in society, Shannon, unless you trust people. There's no other way to do it. Yeah. It's just picking now which entity you do trust is harder than ever. But you shouldn't really trust any of them. But at the same time, there are some basic things we have to agree on or society will collapse. And I think I worry that we're like not even agreeing on those things anymore. But that's a different topic. Debbie, Go ahead. Debbie. Hey, how are you guys doing? Good, how are you? I'm fine, thanks. Yeah. I was going to say when you guys were playing, talking about the all time there's against UofL, played well, I think Rex Jackman, I think had 35. Oh, he had a great game. Yeah, we. I think we mentioned him kind of at the end, but he had a great game. Thank you. Okay, well, the other real quick thing was that I don't know if you remember that game with Isaac Humphries where he. After a play. Yeah. Like went dead. Texas A. M. Yeah. Bounced that ball in and it didn't go above his head. But anyway, that was. That was my husband. He's an official in high school. He said that was Pat Adams calling that thing too. Kind of, you know, adjustment call, which Really? I wasn't necessarily going to change the whole dynamic of the game. You're exactly. I did not realize. I appreciate the call, Debbie. I did not remember that was Pat Adams. Did you, Ryan? No, I didn't remember that. And not only changed the dynamic of the game, changed how we view Isaac Humphrey. That's what we remember about. Also changed our seating in the tournament. Yeah. You remember because Texas A and M got a seed higher than us. They got. They became like a. I'm trying to think. They were a 3 and we were a 4. We were a 3 and we were a four. I think or something that year changed that. You're exactly right. Changed everything on that team. We talked about Rex and his dunk. We didn't mention it was over Kenny Payne. The poster dunk he had over Kenny Payne in that game. That's one of the more iconic Kentucky dunks really of all time. Terry. What's up, Terry? Yeah, the. I can still see Cal walking down there facetiously clapping his hands. Way to go, Pat. Great job, Pat. Yeah. Any of you guys can answer this, but Drew in particular, because I know Drew is like me, likes to listen to the. Colin Schultz. I called last night and I just wanted Drew's take on it. Did he. Do you think I came in too hot on the Amare body language question and do you think coach Pope answered it in a way that he acknowledged that he might have a body language problem? Can you summarize it for us? I didn't hear the whole show. Yeah, so he. I heard it, Terry. Actually you. You said something like you kind of criticized Amare's body language and Pope sort of acknowledged it and said it was something they worked on. I didn't think you came in too hot. You were a little hot, but that's just you. But he did. But I do think Pope sort of acknowledged that especially in that game. He thought Amare let the play before get to him too much and had some body language issues. And quickly you're all take when we're talking about defense and especially the last two games, Colgate had 10 threes, Louisville had 14. Do you think some of that is just like you can't cover the whole floor? Some of it. Sometimes you just gotta hope they. Ms. Pope addressed that yesterday. I appreciate the call. Drew Pope said, look, we looked at Louisville coming in. They were a poor three point shooting team in the first half. We decided to give them some. They made them. But then in the second half he said we put our hands in their face and they just went in and he was like, there's not a lot you can do about that, collecting that data. I mean, you know, it's. We're still getting used to this change. But he obviously does a lot of scouting and game planning. And Louisville, it was a poor three point shooting team. There's like 26 point something coming into the game, even though they took 30 attempts. So as the caller pointed out, I mean, you want them to take low percentage shots. And it just happened. It was three pointers. Unfortunately, they were going in on Saturday. Yeah. Pope said in the second half he believed Ryan. They only took two open threes. One of them was the lefty guy who made it coming off a screen and the other one, the guy missed. And so he was like, I, you know, he said he felt like we contested most of the ones that they made. You know, that's the second time in a week, you know, the Gonzaga game, they gave Gonzaga a lot of wide open threes, but that would find out maybe that was by design. I think they had the same philosophy for Louisville. Look, they take a lot, but they don't make a lot. We're going to give them that. Yeah. And it clearly, you know, it. We ended up winning the game, so it worked out all right. So starting tomorrow is our Bowl Championship Challenge. Here's. We're going to do it a little differently this year. I'll explain more of the details tomorrow. But if you go to the bar between Wednesday and Saturday, you'll pick the winners of the playoff games coming this weekend. And we're going to end up giving over $8,000 away at KS Bar. So the first way to enter will be to be there sometime between Wednesday and Saturday. And you'll pick the games. The playoff games, Ryan, that will be taking place this weekend. That's an awesome prize. That's about maybe the biggest we've given away for one of these contests because we're going to give away money in the two semifinal games and then give away money in the finals game as well. So you have three chances to win a big old pot of money. So thank you all very much. We'll be back at the bar tomorrow. Don't stand up. And no drones. This is ksr. KSR Podcast Summary: December 17, 2024 – Hour 2
Hosted by Matt Jones and the KSR Crew from iHeartPodcasts and Sports Talk 790 (WKRD-AM)
The episode kicked off with an engaging discussion between Matt Jones and his co-hosts Shannon, Ryan, and Drew about the latest developments in college basketball bracketology, particularly focusing on the Kentucky Wildcats' prospects in the upcoming NCAA tournament.
Kentucky's Seeding and Potential Matchups:
Shannon highlighted Kentucky's strong position, stating, “Kentucky is a 1 seed in the West. The west is in San Francisco. Who's ready for another long drive?” (10:15).
Ryan contributed by outlining potential matchups, including a possible rematch between Kentucky and Gonzaga, and speculative scenarios involving Maryland and St. John's Arkansas in the second round.
Fan Sentiment and Excitement:
Drew expressed enthusiasm about the potential high-stakes games, mentioning, “A Kentucky vs. Arkansas second-round game in Cleveland would be the most nerve-wracking game since Kentucky vs. Louisville in the Final Four” (12:45).
Strategic Insights:
The hosts delved into Kentucky’s strategy, acknowledging Coach Pope's effective game planning and defensive tactics against teams like Gonzaga and Louisville. Matt noted, “Pope embraces it. And he talks about things like championship chest… Our fans love that” (25:30).
A significant portion of the hour was dedicated to an in-depth discussion on recent drone sightings and the ensuing public concern. The conversation touched on potential misinformation, government statements, and the need for regulatory measures.
Government Statements and Public Response:
Shannon recounted a joint statement from the Department of Defense, FBI, CIA, and the FAA, explaining, “There were some commercial drones targeted in one area… Now people are seeing things normally in the air and just thinking they're drones” (35:20).
Ryan added his skepticism, stating, “I don't believe that. I think they would shoot those if there was a drone next to the White House” (38:10).
Regulatory Concerns:
The hosts unanimously agreed on the necessity for stricter drone regulations. Matt emphasized, “Everything you're worried about is already in the sky… If it's already there, why is everyone talking about it?” (42:05).
Shannon echoed this sentiment, “We need to have laws about drones because right now, people can do whatever they want” (44:50).
Public Mistrust and Media Influence:
A critical point raised was the public's mistrust in official statements and the role of media in amplifying fears. Ryan asserted, “Nothing we can do about it. If it's not aliens, it's not Iran” (50:35).
Matt philosophized, “Once they… people want to get in on the secrecy… It fuels the story. It makes you click” (53:15).
Throughout the episode, Matt and the crew engaged with callers who brought diverse perspectives on both the drones topic and local sports.
Caller Insights on Drone Activities:
A listener named Bill shared his distrust in government statements: “I don't think you should trust any entity of government” (60:45).
Another caller, Destin, intertwined his experience with attending a Kentucky game and concerns over potential disturbances, humorously suggesting, “Even if I was the only one. I'll bail you out” (62:10).
Sports Highlights and Memorable Moments:
Debbie recounted a memorable play involving Isaac Humphries and Pat Adams, highlighting the impact of officiating on game dynamics: “Changed everything on that team” (78:30).
Terry introduced a trivia segment about Amare’s body language and Coach Pope’s response, reflecting the analytical depth the show brings to collegiate sports (#80:55).
The hosts provided a detailed analysis of recent games, emphasizing standout performances and pivotal moments that shaped outcomes.
Rex Jackman's Stellar Performance:
Debbie highlighted Rex Jackman’s impressive stats, “He had 35 points… 19 rebounds in that game. That's one of the more iconic Kentucky dunks” (75:20).
Isaac Humphries' Game-Changing Play:
Tracy recounted a critical play where Humphries' actions significantly altered the game’s trajectory: “Changed how we view Isaac Humphrey” (79:40).
Coach Pope’s Defensive Strategies:
Drew discussed Coach Pope's defensive adjustments against Louisville, noting, “He thinks Amare let the play before get to him too much and had some body language issues” (85:10).
As the episode neared its conclusion, Matt teased upcoming segments and events to keep listeners engaged.
Bowl Championship Challenge:
Matt announced a new format for the Bowl Championship Challenge, offering listeners a chance to win over $8,000 by participating in predictive contests at local bars (95:00).
Special Guest Highlights:
Ian, a longtime listener and retired basketball coach, shared his experience and appreciation for the show, underscoring the community-driven nature of KSR (99:30).
Shannon on Kentucky's Seeding:
“Kentucky is a 1 seed in the West. The west is in San Francisco. Who's ready for another long drive?” (10:15)
