Hour number two here in Windsor, Colorado headed to Vail tonight. They still haven't approved our house yet. I don't know. They may not be an issue. Yeah, well, hopefully we'll get it here soon. Are you worried they're not going to let us in?
Doug Gottlieb
Yes.
Shannon The Dude
I bet they get hotels.
Doug Gottlieb
They got a lot of hotels.
Matt Jones
I mean we'll find something. I mean we're not going to know.
Doug Gottlieb
Are we going to Vail during skiing season?
Matt Jones
This is apparently skiing season, so this could in theater theory. Be a busy time.
Shannon The Dude
Can any of you guys ski? No, no, no, I've never attempted.
Max Duffy
I'll. I'll say no, but I don't know.
Shannon The Dude
I can kind of see.
Matt Jones
Are you good at it?
Shannon The Dude
No, but I can stay up on my feet.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I am not good at it at all. I tried once. It does not work for me. All right, let's talk about a couple stories and then I want to tell the, the max story here for a second. First of all, this is a crazy story this morning. The CEO of United Healthcare, which is one of the major insurance companies in America, was walking into the investor meeting today where they like give earnings and all that, and he was just shot down and killed on the street.
Doug Gottlieb
Wow.
Matt Jones
And they say it was a targeted attack. It wasn't random violence. There was somebody that had been waiting there for him to walk in and killed him in New York City. You know, for all the thing about all New York's dangerous. It's usually like, you don't get just randomly shot in New York. So he, he was clearly targeted. That, that's weird. Like, right, Like, I mean, it could be. My initial reaction is I'm just going to guess. But when they find out who did it, I'm going to guess, just complete guess. It's somebody who had a family member get turned down for some kind of insurance. Yeah, that's the only part because who else would hate an insurance ce.
Shannon The Dude
Sounds like a plot out of a movie or something.
Matt Jones
It does. Like, it sounds like a movie. Somebody's upset that their mother doesn't get covered for something and then like, what.
Max Duffy
Do you think that could be one? I mean, just nature of insurance. That guy probably had a lot of enemies. It could, like you said, could be anyone that had a, you know, that felt wronged by his company. But just to be walking out early in the morning about to give a presentation.
Matt Jones
Times Square Hilton, which if you've ever been to is a very well trafficked hotel.
Max Duffy
That's where our hello card is. Right in front of us.
Matt Jones
Yes, it's right in Front street From NBC and 30 Rock and all that.
Max Duffy
It's one of the busiest areas in town right now with Christmas going on.
Matt Jones
It is scary, man. So that's a, that's a crazy story. Now a more happy story, at least for Shannon. They're bringing Chi Chi's back.
Shannon The Dude
Yes. I've been talking about this for 20 plus years. Finally it's happening. According to CNN.
Matt Jones
Yes. You kept citing random websites yesterday.
Shannon The Dude
I thought Business Insider was A business.
Matt Jones
That'S actually a real website.
Shannon The Dude
Calm.
Matt Jones
It was like restaurants. Face.com.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. But it's exciting. It's coming back. And I'd like to thank Max and the Aussies for keeping the good name of Chi Chi's alive. Because Outback bought Chi Chi.
Matt Jones
It was Outback.
Shannon The Dude
Many years ago. They kept, you know, the name going.
Matt Jones
Remember when I was in Luxembourg, I saw one.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And I actually ate there for you.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I think Luxembourg may have been what kept it going.
Shannon The Dude
Chi Chi's is really the greatest place on Earth. I mean, it was when it was open anyway, and it's about to be again, and we had better get a location in Kentucky, because wherever that first one is, that's where we're going on a road trip.
Matt Jones
I was going to say. You read my mind. Wherever they open the first one in America, I will take you on our summer road trip. Assuming it's already open by then. That's. That'll be where we go.
Shannon The Dude
Even if it's in Pennsylvania.
Matt Jones
We're going to run Pennsylvania, go back to. Have you ever had Chi Chi's?
Mario
No. I don't know. Oh, I'm missing out.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, yes. I mean, it is happiness in your mouth. It is.
Matt Jones
What do you mean, happiness in your mouth?
Shannon The Dude
What do you mean? What's the order?
Mario
What's your order?
Shannon The Dude
Oh, I get to get anything. Steak fajitas, the chimichangas, the fried ice cream.
Matt Jones
You have to go back a second, Max, to answer your question. You know, now there's a Mexican restaurant on every corner, and they're all like, Chichi's knockoffs. You know, they're all like, lies Perranza or Taco Face. I mean, they're everywhere. But when we were kids, that wasn't true. I mean, there. There weren't Mexican restaurants in every town.
Shannon The Dude
Tumbleweed and Chichi.
Matt Jones
Tumbleweed. Tumbleweed was American. Really? So Chichi's was where we felt like we were going to Mexico. Now, of course, it wasn't anything like Mexico. It was like sombreros, and it was. It was ridiculous.
Max Duffy
Founded in Minnesota.
Matt Jones
Yeah. But when we. But at the time. At the time, it felt like exotic food. When you were from a small town to go to Chi Chi's was like leaving America.
Mario
Okay?
Matt Jones
And so I think those of us that age have some nostalgia for it.
Mario
Well, that sounds pretty good to me.
Shannon The Dude
Look, I'm gonna have kangaroo with you today. You're gonna have Chi Chi.
Max Duffy
You know, kids growing up, they put, like, their school pictures, and you can see how they grow Yeah, I had a wall of sombrero birthday pictures. We went to Choo Choo's every year, and you could just watch me get older with sombrero on.
Matt Jones
It was likely somewhat racist in hindsight, but they would. Basically, when you would go there, if it was your birthday, they would give you a sombrero. They would come out with the. What do you call those?
Shannon The Dude
Maracas.
Matt Jones
Maracas. And they would like.
Shannon The Dude
And everybody would dance and sing and. Yes.
Matt Jones
They would chant Jimmy Chong.
Mario
So these days, they would just give you sombrero, your taco, and your deportation litter.
Matt Jones
Yeah, we're not quite as open on this stuff as. But. But for us, it was. It was a big deal back.
Shannon The Dude
Yes, right.
Matt Jones
Like, it was a. It was a big deal. So.
Shannon The Dude
And I'm gonna tell you something. If I don't get the endorsement for Chi Chi's. No, you deserve. I mean, come on.
Max Duffy
You should be at the ribbon cutting.
Doug Gottlieb
I know. Drew and I would go to Evansville. It's an hour drive. Where would you go?
Matt Jones
Lexington. The one next to where Lexington Green is?
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
There was one right there out in front. Right. You guys know there's one out there in front of Lexington Green. We go to Joseph Bath and Chi Chi's. And it was like. And then south park movie theater was across the street, and you were like, this is. This is living right here. Chi Chi's. For me, there was In. Toys R Us was across the street. Right. So you had Chi Chi's every. You guys with these Lexi connections. No, you had Chi Chi's and Jose Beth on one side.
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You had Toys R Us and in the south park movie theater right there. And that was like. That was heaven. When you were from Middlesboro, that trip to Lexington, a Blockbuster. We didn't rent movies in Lexington and take them back to Middlesborough. I mean, that was. You know, and then you go to the mall, and what they were. They had the video game store right there. And Fayetteville. I mean, Nicholsville Road. At that point, that little juncture might as well have been, you know, Christmas every day. For someone like me, it was like Times Square.
Doug Gottlieb
I'm trying to think, was it where the Arby's is now? Is that where it was?
Matt Jones
It was right there. The. The Cheechy's right at the front, right next to Nicholsville Road. Okay, so it's where that gas station is right now.
Max Duffy
There's a shell there.
Matt Jones
Now there's a shell there. That's where. That's where it was right there. Yeah.
Max Duffy
If Chi Chi's can come back. I think we have hope for everything. Anything that's been gone, I'm gonna.
Matt Jones
I'm with you. Bring it. Bring it all back. Kodak. Whatever you want, just bring it.
Shannon The Dude
Circuit City. Circuit City was great.
Matt Jones
That's a good question. What. What. What businesses like that would you like to see? I loved Circuit City.
Shannon The Dude
I did, too.
Matt Jones
Service merchandise. I've talked about service.
Shannon The Dude
The state of the art.
Matt Jones
Yeah. You would pick the thing, and then you would go back in the back, and there'd be a guy named. Hand you a box, and there it was. Service merchandise.
Mario
There was a Roses restaurant called Lone Star in Australia where you used to be able to eat the peanuts, throw it on the ground.
Matt Jones
First of all, we've had that until recently. But then, Covid, they stopped letting you eat the. I love throwing the peanuts on the ground. I felt like I get to trash this place, and it's cool.
Mario
In Australia, I believe someone slipped on the shelves and got hurt. Therefore, they all had to close down.
Matt Jones
Oh, that's too bad. Yeah, Lone Star was great. Western sizzling.
Doug Gottlieb
Western Ponderosa.
Matt Jones
With that. With that salad bar, I was more.
Max Duffy
Of a bonanza guy.
Matt Jones
Bananza. Well, I'm just fun. All right, so let's talk about yesterday. Everywhere we go, when we eat, Drew films, like a little review. Shannon reviews the hotels. My thing is, I was like, I like gas stations. You know, I like to drive. I've been to a million gas stations. I always try to, as I said to Max, find one with panache. Yep, that's the word I use. I don't want to go to just a regular. I like panache. Yesterday, we were in some town Briggs style. No, it was like. It was Brickstown. We were in a town. We looked at it. I didn't see a gas station that I felt gave me the vibes.
Mario
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So I was like, let's just drive the next town. We get to a sign, it says, next fuel stop 60 miles away. We had 84 miles worth of gas left. According to my thing. I said, let's go.
Max Duffy
You got room for U turns?
Matt Jones
Yeah, that's exactly. Ryan started panicking.
Doug Gottlieb
We're in the middle of absolutely nowhere.
Matt Jones
And you get scared. You're always worried something bad's gonna happen.
Doug Gottlieb
We get stranded out there somewhere.
Matt Jones
Have we ever lost if we ever run our gas before?
Max Duffy
Did you not believe the sign that said 60 miles?
Doug Gottlieb
I didn't believe we were gonna have 84 miles of gas.
Matt Jones
We did, but we pull it. But we have one choice, and it's like the Brigsdale pumping shop. So I don't know how many of you have been to Briggsdale, Colorado? You said it was just like a bump in the road. Right. One gas station, we walk in, we do the review. Mario and I walk in. It was perfectly nice, people. Shannon is you're using the bathroom with the door open, which I didn't understand.
Shannon The Dude
More the merrier.
Matt Jones
Come on in.
Max Duffy
Just really excited about you.
Matt Jones
There was a woman standing on top of the drink cooler, which was unique.
Max Duffy
On a ladder.
Matt Jones
On a ladder. There was cooking sloppy joes.
Doug Gottlieb
Yes.
Matt Jones
I thought it was good. There were six to eight Trump flags out front.
Doug Gottlieb
Yes.
Matt Jones
The guy. The guy working behind the counter had a shirt that said, like, you show me your gun, I'll show you.
Max Duffy
Try this in a small town.
Matt Jones
Try this in a small town so you know where you are. I'm good in these places. Right, people? Well, it's not what I believe, but I've been around these people my whole life. I'm good. So we do our thing. For reasons I don't know, after we do this, Max and Mario decide to go in, start causing trouble.
Max Duffy
We're already back in the car.
Matt Jones
We're back in the car. We're ready to leave.
Shannon The Dude
Like, what's taking these two? So let's take.
Matt Jones
What are Max and Mario doing? I mean, what are these two doing? Are they trying to try this in a small town? Is that what they're trying to do? Max, I'll let you take it from there.
Mario
Do I need my attorney present, or am I just going to speak openly about this?
Matt Jones
You can speak.
Mario
Well, first of all, me and Mario thought that you guys had just forgotten us because you just drove off. And we looked at the DJ Wagoneers halfway down the road. But I turned around at one point, and Mario was inches from this guy's face, and he was speaking in the calm tone that's almost too calm.
Matt Jones
Yep. He got too close to Mario's face. I think that's fair to say.
Mario
Like, he'd done all this. He'd done this confrontation before, and he just wanted to lay the law down a little bit. And basically he said, look, there's been a lot of trouble in this Brigdow town, which you can imagine. I mean, it's thriving metropolitan. And he said there might be 50.
Matt Jones
People that live there. He said, there's been a lot of.
Mario
Trouble, A lot of trouble in this town. And particularly they all target the gas station. And with you guys taking the video on this gas station, it's just going to give them a blueprint, which drew said. I mean, they could just walk in if they wanted to see it. They're here. This isn't a bank.
Matt Jones
Basically, you're giving them the blueprint on how to rob us.
Mario
And he said, I'm gonna give you one warning. If I see this video go out and someone comes in and robs this place in the next day or two, that ain't gonna be good for you.
Matt Jones
He said, there's gonna be trouble.
Mario
There's gonna be trouble.
Matt Jones
And so here's what I'm gonna ask. Mario went ahead and put the video out. Please. Nobody robbed that place. Yeah.
Doug Gottlieb
Do us a solid.
Matt Jones
Just. Just. Just help us out, all right?
Max Duffy
They seem like they might own guns.
Matt Jones
I just. I feel like. Shannon, let's just all be good.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, right. Why would you want to rob that?
Matt Jones
First of all, don't. These are nice people. They're just selling sloppy joes. It's. It's not that big a place. And I don't want Max specifically, because really, it would be his fault. I don't want him to go down.
Shannon The Dude
But he gave him the blueprint, though. That's what I don't understand. I mean, isn't every gas station the same?
Mario
No.
Shannon The Dude
You got the aisles, you got the chips, you got the beef jerky. You got the nerd coming. Clusters. It's all the same.
Mario
Yeah.
Max Duffy
The woman on the cooler.
Mario
The woman on the cooler was my.
Shannon The Dude
Favorite part of the video. Matt goes, oh, you're up there. You go up there often. That's the most awkward thing to say.
Matt Jones
Mad.
Max Duffy
They thought we were osho walking in to check.
Matt Jones
You know, I thought, I'm gonna say something to this woman. And then I got up there, Shannon.
Shannon The Dude
And then. Nothing to say.
Matt Jones
I just said, do you go up there often? Which Good.
Mario
Pick up live.
Matt Jones
I wasn't trying to pick her up, but if I was, that wouldn't have been what you said. So you go up on top of the drink. Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
She clearly did not want any part of the video either.
Mario
Those gloves that they'd been used.
Matt Jones
Yeah. They were selling gloves that were pre dirty, which I thought was good for.
Shannon The Dude
They're called distressed.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Your wife goes, where were you?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And you were like, I was working in the dirt.
Shannon The Dude
See, look at all.
Matt Jones
You can just buy the dirty gloves, and you would already have an excuse.
Max Duffy
This place was so small. And they're talking about the blueprint getting out. Like, they're like, daniel ocean's coming in. This is the bellagio of Colorado. We're Gonna give away all the secrets of where the lasers and security cameras are.
Matt Jones
It was a tiny place.
Doug Gottlieb
And the guy behind us at the gas pump, he got all excited, right? He wanted you guys. He said, are you guys all bloggers?
Max Duffy
Oh, he came up to me, he goes, hey, man.
Matt Jones
Hey.
Max Duffy
He was driving this huge piece of machinery. He's like, hey, you guys bloggers? I was like, yes, we are. He thought it was the coolest.
Mario
Yeah. But I think I may have found the perpetrator because there was one guy that was coming in that was staying away from the camera. Like he wanted to get behind it. He didn't want to get involved.
Max Duffy
So that might be the suspect.
Matt Jones
That might be the suspect. So do us a favor. Be nice if you happen to be in Briggsdale, Colorado, which probably none of you will today. But if you are, go in, say hi to him. Buy some dirty gloves.
Mario
Get closer to $5.
Max Duffy
It'll rob them.
Matt Jones
Club Blue and his official partner of UK athletics. Big announcement. Ryan today.
Doug Gottlieb
What is it?
Matt Jones
They are releasing their new UK Nil bourbon from Bespoken spirits. White label is Kentucky's high rye barrel aged bourbon whiskey. Blue label is a small batch Kentucky straight high rye bourbon. The proceeds go to nil. It is being released today. It is at KS Bar for the next three weeks. The first place it'll be. But you also can buy, I believe it will be at Liquor Barn. Every purchase goes to Kentucky Nil. You can buy one today and support Club Blue. You can find more. It's called Club Blue bourbon and we have it starting today at KS Bar. I've had it.
Shannon The Dude
It's really good.
Doug Gottlieb
We were at the tasting help pick out the flavor.
Max Duffy
We decided which would be the Club Blue Bourbon.
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Wait a minute. So it's your alls.
Max Duffy
Well, I mean there are other people there, but Ron and I were a part of the panel.
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And so you picked the flavor.
Doug Gottlieb
We all sampled group of us.
Matt Jones
So if it's not good, can people blame you?
Max Duffy
It's good. That's why we did.
Doug Gottlieb
It's really good. Yeah.
Matt Jones
All right. Well, we have it at ksbar. We'll be the salt the exclusive partner through Christmas and then. But you can buy it retail at at Liquor Bar.
Max Duffy
It's good stuff. Cool label too. Yeah.
Matt Jones
We will take a break and be right back. This is Kentucky sports radio.
Ryan Lemond
Black Friday football on prime is back. This week the Raiders and the Chiefs.
Matt Jones
Into the end zone. Unbelievable.
Ryan Lemond
Catch an old school rivalry for a new game day. Firing downfield car stream for free only on crime Great move. Black Friday football. Raiders vs. Chiefs. Kickoff at 3pm Eastern. Pregame at 1:30pm Friday only on prime restrictions apply. See Amazon.com watch Black Friday football for details.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. All right, Ryan, thank you. 859-280-2287. Nice crowd. We got eight folks here at our house.
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Still nothing from the people who own it, so hopefully we can get out of here unscathed. This has been a very deviant part of the trip here between.
Mario
I was worried about you releasing our dress.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, I did. I didn't just tweet it out. Some. Some restaurants people say they wish would come back. Max and Irma's.
Doug Gottlieb
Oh, yeah, Max and Irma.
Max Duffy
Good stuff.
Matt Jones
Daryl's.
Max Duffy
Oh, Darrell's was over by that cheat.
Doug Gottlieb
It was right across the street from the Chi Chi's there. In Lexington?
Matt Jones
Yes. Morrison's Cafeteria also in there. Wasn't that in there too, was it?
Shannon The Dude
Part.
Matt Jones
I think it was in Lexington Green as well. Morrison's Cafeteria.
Max Duffy
Well, staying in Lexington Green, can Tony Romans come back?
Matt Jones
Tony Romas. Where you used to work?
Max Duffy
That's when I started at KSR. I was carrying ribs to tables when I wasn't blogging.
Matt Jones
772-7745254. If you have some of those. Shannon, Circuit City still exist? It's just an online only store.
Shannon The Dude
Really? I had no idea.
Matt Jones
No idea about that either. Did you know there was an online circus?
Shannon The Dude
No, but now I kind of want to go just buy something random just to support Circuit City so they don't go completely under.
Matt Jones
One person writes. Matt, you talking about Lexington Green back then gives me flashbacks to my childhood. That was the best. When you were that age. What was the name of the Chinese place? The first Chinese place in Lexington.
Doug Gottlieb
See, it must be before I got there because I don't remember the.
Matt Jones
Come on. What is it? It was a chain. It was a chain. It was on Nicholsville Road. Yeah, it was down there close to Southland. Oh, somebody's gonna tell me this. Who Dance. That's it.
Mario
Who Dance.
Matt Jones
That's a chain too, right? Who Nan's. That was like the. That was like the chichis of Chinese restaurant. Who Nan's. That's exactly right. My mom always would want to go to who names.
Max Duffy
I didn't get to do the Hunan's experience, but certainly a lot of Chi Chi's and Daryl's.
Matt Jones
I do kind of like just mentioning places we used to reminisce when we were a kid.
Shannon The Dude
Nostalgia.
Matt Jones
The nostalgia part. Who's next. Got Daniel up next. Daniel, Go ahead, Daniel. Daniel. All right. No Daniel. Who's next?
Doug Gottlieb
Let's try John.
Matt Jones
John. Go ahead, John. Surprisingly, I find myself a Blue Devil fan today. Are you rooting for Duke against Auburn tonight? I think so. I think we need something to, you know, to make our victory a little more solid. Well, we'll still play Auburn later in the year, so, I mean, we're going to play. Same with North Carolina. Alabama. Well, actually, we don't play North Carolina, so we kind of want Alabama to beat North Carolina. With Auburn, if they beat Duke, we'll still have a chance to beat them as well. Yeah, true, but.
Caller
I'm not sure.
Matt Jones
Have y'all seen Malachi Moreno play? He's coming to Louisville play, saying, actually, I don't think I'm gonna ride out there. Is he. Is he a Ryan? What do you think of. Yeah, what do you Appreciate the call. What do you think of Malachi Moreno? You've seen him. I know a number.
Doug Gottlieb
I see him since he was in like the sixth grade. He is really improved. I mean, he's now developing where he's obviously one of the best big men in the country, but he's a kid is going to get better and better and better as he gets stronger and stronger and stronger. I, I think he's got a big ceiling.
Matt Jones
You, you have follow both those Kentucky kids that committed to Kentucky, Malachi Moreno and Jasper Johnson. You're basically your son and you've been watching them since they were little kids. And I think you were skeptical, if it's fair to say, on both of them being UK players early, but you've kind of turned on both of them in a positive way.
Doug Gottlieb
100%.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Doug Gottlieb
There's no doubt about it. Both of them have become major college basketball prospects because they work so hard at it. I mean, Jasper, when he was dominating as a sixth grader, but by the time he got to high school, he just became a different player. Man, he just really took off.
Matt Jones
You think they both are Kentucky level players?
Doug Gottlieb
Yes, no doubt. Absolutely.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Doug Gottlieb
And I don't want to be disrespectful. They're better than Travis and Trent.
Matt Jones
Is that right?
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Why?
Doug Gottlieb
They just can have more skills.
Matt Jones
Do you. There are some people who are saying, Drew, maybe if Kerr is playing as poorly as he did, you give Travis Perry a run. What do you think about that? I don't know if that would have been the environment.
Max Duffy
Yeah, I mean, Travis looked like he even struggled when he was getting in, in the mop up. Minutes early. I think Kerr's better than he showed last night. Now if we continue to see more of the same, you got to do something different. But I'm hopeful last night was just as bad as we're going to see from him because he has been better in other games. He's had great games at Arizona, he's had great games at West Virginia. He's played a lot of college basketball look better than he did last night. But if it continues, they need to make a change.
Mario
A good thing about having 30 odd games is you get to find out little things as you go along. He gets puts guys out there like Kirk got 21 minutes last night and it's like maybe we learn a little bit, maybe we don't give him as much. And same thing with William, same thing with everyone. I mean Jackson, Robinson last night much improved. So just little things along the way that he can tinker with the lineup. He's smart. We'll figure it out.
Matt Jones
Let me give you one thing about the portal that was switching to football for a second. The portal actually doesn't open till next week.
Mario
Just for the. Yep.
Matt Jones
The ninth. The. So when you see people say they're entering the portal, they really haven't done anything yet. They lost Keyshawn Silver yesterday. Kentucky football at one one service had him as a five star at one point. Yeah, he's played some. He definitely was one of the most talented returning pieces. But there were also a lot of talk, you know he did. He didn't play a lot and there was also a lot of talk that some of the locker room issues that were talked about, he was kind of part of that. What were your thoughts about him leaving?
Doug Gottlieb
I thought he was going to be the next big superstar on the defensive line for Kentucky. I really did.
Matt Jones
But he didn't play this year. Didn't.
Doug Gottlieb
Didn't play much and when he did play he was kind of non existent a lot of times it seemed like.
Mario
So yeah, with the commits, the amount of commits we had today, there's going to be more guys in the next week that put up a graphic saying with that being said, I'm. I'm in the portal.
Matt Jones
So you call those the. With that being said, I hate that saying so much.
Mario
Every. And my kicker from Murray messaged me and sent me his graphic and I said can we get rid of the.
Matt Jones
With that being said, I love Kentucky, I love bbn. You all are great. It's been an amazing experience. But with that being said, I'm Tracy, you don't like the. With that being said, I don't.
Mario
It's like you're getting broken up with from your girlfriend and she tells you you're great and you're awesome and I enjoy the time, but I'm a try on my other options.
Max Duffy
Those graphics always use the wrong part of the wrong version of the word apart. They always say, thank you for letting me be a part of this. I say 99 times out of 100, they use the wrong vers of that.
Matt Jones
A part.
Max Duffy
Yeah.
Matt Jones
And they put it together.
Max Duffy
Yes.
Matt Jones
And you don't like that.
Max Duffy
Look at any graph.
Matt Jones
What an interesting thing for you to.
Max Duffy
Focus on a little pet peeve of these graphics. They use the wrong.
Matt Jones
My man is grammar Nazi.
Max Duffy
Three English 101s, man. You know, I look for this stuff.
Shannon The Dude
But he is leaving. So they are.
Matt Jones
I mean, you pass. You pass it. The third time.
Max Duffy
I'm basically a professor.
Matt Jones
It just.
Max Duffy
It sticks out to me.
Shannon The Dude
I just want somebody to say, I'm leaving, and not even say anything good about where. Obviously, it wasn't that great.
Mario
You would have stayed 100% agree.
Shannon The Dude
We don't need. We don't need. Yeah.
Matt Jones
Yeah. It couldn't have been excellent or you wouldn't. You'd be here. Yeah. We also lost our backup long snapper thoughts.
Mario
Who cares?
Matt Jones
Whoa.
Mario
Who cares?
Matt Jones
All right, there you go. We'll take a break and be right back.
Doug Gottlieb
Wow.
Matt Jones
Good creep. Welcome back. It is Kentucky sports radio. People love writing in old chains, old restaurants. In Lexington, dshea's, that was a staple.
Doug Gottlieb
Especially when I first moved here in the late 90s. Right there at the corner of Main Street.
Matt Jones
Right there. When you ate at dshea's, you felt like it was a thing.
Doug Gottlieb
Absolutely.
Matt Jones
I think my 21st birthday party, the one my parents put on, I think was at dshea's.
Max Duffy
After a big KSR meeting with all the interns and new hires, we went over to dshea.
Matt Jones
Our first big ksr, let's have a state of the program meeting was in deshez. I really felt like I was like, spend. I felt like I was opening the bank account when I took us all to Deshea's the one time. Yes.
Doug Gottlieb
That second floor was where Bravo Patino's restaurant was, right above deshae's. That was a place to be me disc jockey. Oh, that's a good one.
Max Duffy
I worked at Sam Goody.
Matt Jones
So there's that rap song. We get the CD from Sam Goody now they don't even have any of those things.
Shannon The Dude
I think F. Was it fye?
Max Duffy
Yep.
Shannon The Dude
There's another one that's still open.
Matt Jones
Is it?
Shannon The Dude
But they don't. They sell records and stuff now. So it's almost like it's a. Like a record store from the 70s.
Matt Jones
Traditional thing.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, yeah.
Matt Jones
PO folks. I don't remember that.
Doug Gottlieb
I remember that either.
Matt Jones
What is PO folks?
Doug Gottlieb
It's a restaurant.
Matt Jones
Happy Roots. Kenny Rogers Roasters. Are those still around? They had a whole Seinfeld episode.
Doug Gottlieb
There used to be one on Richmond Road.
Matt Jones
I remember Jerry's.
Doug Gottlieb
Jerry.
Shannon The Dude
Jerry.
Doug Gottlieb
There's still one open in I think Paris. Paris, Kentucky.
Matt Jones
I think it's like the last one there is. Period. Yes. So there you go. A lot of good.
Doug Gottlieb
Did you have a Jerry's in Middlesboro?
Matt Jones
Oh, yes. We ate at Jerry's a lot.
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Our friend Dewey like Jerry. So we would go to Jerry's.
Mario
Dewey seems like he's a big Jerry.
Matt Jones
You would have loved Dewey. Dewey. Dewey was MAGA before it was cool. Dewey was the first. How I knew Rush Limbaugh existed. Dewey would come in ranting about Bill Clinton and Jennifer Flowers in 1992. Before that was a thing. So I rest in peace to Dewey. Who's up next? Daniel is up next. Daniel. Go ahead, Daniel.
Caller
Yes. Good afternoon or good morning. Actually, I just add one restaurant to your list and that's G.D. ritzies. I don't know if you remember that or not.
Doug Gottlieb
Great hamburgers, great burgers.
Max Duffy
I think it's still in Evansville.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't. I don't know that one. That was an Evansville thing.
Max Duffy
Like a little diner with the shoestring.
Doug Gottlieb
They had one in Lexington, right? Yeah, yeah.
Caller
It was on Harrodsburg Road, Broadway area. The question I have for you is what kind of vehicle are you guys driving on this road trip?
Matt Jones
And we have a Jeep Wagoneer. We have a Jeep Wagoneer and it's big. It's. I think it's been a successful car. Knock on wood. So far. Don't you agree?
Max Duffy
That was my biggest concern of the whole trip. And as soon as we got to your house and saw the car, it was a relief. Everything fits pretty.
Matt Jones
The Jeep Wagoneer has been. Has been very good so far. Knock on wood. We still got a long way to go.
Max Duffy
D.J. wagoneer.
Caller
Very good. Thank you.
Matt Jones
Appreciate. Appreciate the call. Do you feel good or bad about the game Saturday against Gonzaga?
Doug Gottlieb
I feel no different after that loss last night.
Matt Jones
No different at all.
Doug Gottlieb
I still feel this team is really, really good. It was an off shooting night. We didn't handle the physicality very well. But in the big stage with Gonzaga, I think they'll probably step up and play well.
Shannon The Dude
I don't feel great about it. I'm just being honest with you. I mean, the same team that beat Baylor by 40 points.
Matt Jones
They did, but they lost to West Virginia and we're down almost the whole game.
Shannon The Dude
That's right.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
I mean, they're not unbeatable, but again, you're going on the road. It's all the way across country. It's going to be a tough atmosphere for them.
Mario
I'm looking forward to the adjustments that Mark Pope makes and just see what he brings to the game. That's a little bit different from the Clemson game. Maybe a lot more threes, maybe a little bit more movement, less dribbling.
Max Duffy
I'm hoping because they haven't been shooting well, you know, there's going to be a night where they just shoot somebody out of the gym. I'm hoping it hits while we're in.
Matt Jones
That's going to happen sometimes.
Max Duffy
But really you can only grade them off your own kind of expectations. And I thought they'd go one and two against Duke, Clemson, Gonzaga, they're one and one. Yeah, they've already surprised us with Duke. So even though I don't want to go 02 this week, at least where I thought they still kind of house money.
Matt Jones
I mean, we all thought we were going to lose to Duke, so we can't lose track of the fact that we beat Duke. True. I mean, I think that is. That is an important thing to remember.
Doug Gottlieb
And we said really, we would all be happy if they just split games this week. I think, you know, go one on one this week.
Matt Jones
Were you surprised to see that the playoff committee ranked Alabama ahead of Miami? 3 loss SEC team over a 2 loss ACC team? ACC people are livid about it. If Clemson beats. Excuse me, if SMU beats Clemson, Bama's in the playoff. And I would argue if Clemson beats smu, they might still be in the playoff. Do you think Bama should sneak in again for the second straight year?
Max Duffy
I think so. I mean, Miami's been good, but man, in that conference you just don't get many good wins. It's like they play a different sport. And I think we're going to see what we saw last year where we get a bunch of whining from the ACC and everybody else just moves on without them.
Mario
Unfortunately, we didn't see it in our game against Louisville, but there's a massive difference between SEC and acc, particularly in the top five or six teams. Alabama deserves to be in there now whether, whether they're a really, really good team this year, who knows. But they deserve to be in the.
Matt Jones
Top 12 in the projected playoff. Shannon, they have Tennessee, Ohio State, first round in Columbus. That would be a heck of a game.
Shannon The Dude
It's a great way to kick off the first year of a 12 team playoff.
Matt Jones
That would be awesome. And they have Alabama at Notre Dame. I mean that would also be a.
Shannon The Dude
Very cool game because of the names but you know Alabama got beat by Vandy.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Shannon The Dude
Got smoked by Oklahoma.
Matt Jones
They did.
Shannon The Dude
I know they're Alabama. I know they're the brand of college football but.
Matt Jones
But who's Miami's best win is their win to start the season against Florida. Otherwise they're, they really don't have any wins. And they lost to Georgia Tech, played.
Mario
A bunch of close games like be cow by three.
Shannon The Dude
So we thought the 12 team playoff would erase controversy but it's still there because there's always going to be a 13th team that doesn't make it was.
Matt Jones
Going to erase controversy were just ridiculous. I mean there are 68 teams in the basketball tournament and there's controversy over that too. Like there's going to be always controversy. Here's what I love about the playoff. This is why the playoff anyone you hear complaining about it is just an old fuddy duddy. It made me he called them.
Shannon The Dude
Oh then you use the word fuddy duddy.
Matt Jones
Fuddy duddy is a very young word.
Shannon The Dude
You whippersnappers are funny duddy.
Matt Jones
I'm just telling you they're a funny duddy and I believe that's a very current word. Here's why they're an old fuddy duddy. Right. I cared more about games this year that I would have never cared out about before because of this Saturday night. Before we left Sunday I was watching Iowa State, Kansas State following a game that I can guarantee you I would not have cared about one bit before this. SMU is going to play Clemson in the ACC title and I'm going to try to watch it. It's during the Kentucky game so I'll have it in the background. But I would never care if SMU was playing Clemson normally. I think it has made it to where more of college football matters than it used to.
Doug Gottlieb
And I think those first round players, playoff games on somebody's home field, they're.
Matt Jones
Going to be awesome.
Doug Gottlieb
They're going to be awesome.
Matt Jones
They're going to be awesome.
Doug Gottlieb
Whereas there used to be a bowl game we probably didn't really pay attention to. Now this means something. It's a playoff game on their home field. We're all going to watch it.
Shannon The Dude
It makes it so much better. I mean you got bowl games, players opting out. You know, half the team doesn't want to be there.
Matt Jones
I mean the teams that don't, not in the playoff though, they're won't in the playoff in. A lot of those, A lot of those other bowl games will probably get hurt. But honestly they were headed down that path anyway. But Max, I mean you're going to get like, think about what the playoff would have been. Let's talk about what the playoff would have been in the old format. All right, who would be in? Oregon would be in for sure. Probably the winner of Texas. Georgia would be in. But then you'd have probably had what Notre Dame and Penn State. Does that make you feel good? Notre Dame, Penn State. Like this is so much better, Max. It's so much more entertaining.
Mario
It's so much better. And like you said, I mean the winning your conference championship now, there's so much more to that. Like yeah, obviously people are going to be happy. But you know, winning the Big 12 this year, there was six teams or nine teams I think in the final game or the final round of the year that were. That could make that championship game, which is insane. And it makes it so much more fun. Like everyone is still live now for that Big 12 spot. Like I don't know, I just, I just think it's just so much better just to see that competition and to watch a Big 12 championship game and it means something.
Matt Jones
I totally agree. Hey, we got another person here. Let's go. I love it. Love the playoff and that first round which will be when Kentucky plays Ohio State in basketball that weekend. That's going to be. You can have a seat right there if you want. That's going to be an awesome weekend of college basketball, of college football.
Max Duffy
And I love. There's a little bit more of a Cinderella aspect now. If you're in the 12, you're good. But like a boys year in SMU, I mean the off chance they run through it and win it all. You never really had that opportunity before.
Matt Jones
Totally agree. UK Federal Credit Union. Not since 1937 have you had a time to not be able to go there. That's a double negative. But that's okay. Welcome back. Final statement KSR BBN. You wouldn't want to buy tickets, a big game and then not go. So why would you pay for your health benefits and not use them? Court Physical Therapy wants to let you know if you meet your deductible this year you can get physical therapy at no cost. Max. You can help those aches and pains go away. It's court.com physical therapy 70 locations near you. Kort.com I have a message here that I want to say. Drew.
Max Duffy
Okay.
Matt Jones
This is to on Twitter Tyler and Ben because we keep getting, we, we keep getting this. We talked about this the other day. When people get angry at the coach, it becomes they, it's like they are incapable of channeling that anger at the coach. They have to channel it at other people too, which includes us. So they're very mad that you and I and others said that maybe Keyshawn Silver, while a very talented player, not the worst loss. Nick Roush believes it's a huge loss. By the way, perfectly reasonable for Nick to say that. You know what that's called in America?
Shannon The Dude
An opinion.
Matt Jones
Different opinions. And you know what? Different opinions are allowed. Did you know that?
Shannon The Dude
Yes.
Matt Jones
So when Nick put out that Vince might go to Louisville, you all were there when he called and told me that. And I then the next day found out he wasn't. But I'm not going to tell Nick not to report that. Nick had Louisville sources. You all were there when we called. What did I say to him? If you believe in it, I know you're not making it up. Go with it. Different opinion. Right When Vincented up staying a lot of people online go KSR started the rumor. KSR into the rumor. Actually we had different. What?
Shannon The Dude
Opinions.
Matt Jones
Opinions. All right, so Nick Roush believes Keyshawn Silver is a big loss. I think it's a loss, but I also think UK is not crying about it because there were some off the field issues there. So these people are now saying Matt and Drew continue to spin for Vince and their boy Stoops. This is a massive loss. Nick Roush said it. They are all in the spin zone. Have we taken a call from Vince or Stoops about Keyshawn Silver?
Max Duffy
No, I didn't comment on Keyshawn Silver, by the way.
Matt Jones
Well, you are wrong.
Max Duffy
I said nothing about Keyshawn Silver.
Matt Jones
So I looked at the numbers. Keyshawn Silver had 23 tackles this year, which was 14th on the team in tackles. He had the fifth most tackles on the defensive line. Be a dude you'd like to have return if things were great. But no, I do not believe Max. I think it's an. It's the biggest loss they've had, but I don't think it's like a breaking loss.
Mario
It is, but you got to have some turnover. I mean, we just went four and eight.
Matt Jones
There's.
Mario
There was going to be some people lead whether we wanted them to or not. And we probably more so want them to, to be honest. I mean, you can't just keep the same guys and go, oh well, we're going to be fine. Like there's going to be some turnover.
Matt Jones
That is true. I remember one year in basketball, Northwestern was like 9 and 22 and I remember watching their first game, they go, they got a lot of people back. And my friend the turkey hunter goes, do they want them back? They went 9 and 22 last year.
Max Duffy
Honestly, I haven't written down the names, but there's only a few people that I would be upset if leave from this team. I'm ready for them. Just power wash the locker room and clean it up.
Matt Jones
Who would be a couple that you would be worried?
Max Duffy
Wilcox. I would want back Harley Gilmore, Willie Rodriguez, some of the young guys on defense. There's some young names. You haven't seen much. There's a guy called him Sack Em Souls. He got in late in some games. If the twins from Corbin, I still hope they turn into something. Mostly a lot of the young people. Cutter, Bowling cutter, of course. And I'm naming a lot of young people Dane. I'll say Dane, but really there's not many more that I care if they go because if the culture has been that bad, you're going to have to lose a lot of People, some reports.
Matt Jones
Out there about Dane. Do you want to. You think maybe considering coming back more than he was a week ago? Do you want to. Do you want to comment on that or do you want to pull events? No comment. I don't want to put you in the tough spot.
Doug Gottlieb
Yes.
Mario
Press him.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. Don't let him off. Hey, what are you chicken?
Mario
Chicken?
Doug Gottlieb
Yes.
Matt Jones
Yes. It's more likely than a week ago. Yes.
Shannon The Dude
Okay.
Matt Jones
Wow, that's some scoop, though, right?
Doug Gottlieb
I'm just messing with you. I'm not saying it one way.
Matt Jones
Oh, so back to no.
Mario
Chicken, Chicken, chicken.
Shannon The Dude
Do you. Do you know something that you're not saying?
Doug Gottlieb
I like he did when he committed. I try to stay out of it, man. That's their family decision.
Shannon The Dude
But for somebody who tries to stay out of it, you seem to know a whole lot.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Doug Gottlieb
God.
Matt Jones
Binky, up next. Binky, how are you? Binky.
Caller
Hey, Matt. Remember I called yesterday and said something about, you know, the worst dinner would be with you? You did say that. The joke, right?
Matt Jones
I mean, I did at the time, but if you say so, I believe you.
Caller
Yeah, well, if you go back and listen to it. I was telling you that. I was just kidding. Anyway, I got a couple of things. First off, let me ask you guys. And I'm fixing to hang up after this and listen to see what y'all say. What teams, what SEC teams do you think we will take hits from this year in basketball?
Matt Jones
Tennessee and you guys, I think Tennessee is a bad matchup for us this year. Tennessee's the one that I think we play them twice. If you told me tomorrow we'd win one of the two, I'd sign up for that immediately because I think they're a tough matchup for us. What about Auburn? Auburn. Well, I mean, Auburn's tough because they're good. But I don't think from a matchup perspective, it's particular. It's any harder than anything else. They're just really good. But, I mean, obviously Auburn's gonna be hard. They're the. Maybe the best team in the country. But if you're just talking about what's the team that matches up with us in a tough way, I would worry the most about Tennessee.
Caller
Any other. Any other sec.
Matt Jones
I think a Cal team, I'll be honest with you, I think a Cal team will, when we play against our Alabama, will either win by 15 or they'll beat us. I mean, it's like, think about how he did. Think about the games over the years he's had with Nate Oates right?
Doug Gottlieb
Yeah.
Matt Jones
He either won by a ton, Blew.
Doug Gottlieb
Him out of the gym last year.
Matt Jones
Or they would lose. Or they'd lose a close game. I think that'll be one of those.
Caller
Hey, one other thing I wanted to ask. Who is the music aficionado here on your crew there?
Matt Jones
Shannon is the one who knows music the most. Is.
Caller
Does he know music or does he sing music or both? Because I'd like to challenge him.
Matt Jones
He doesn't think you know music.
Shannon The Dude
I don't care what he thinks.
Caller
No, no, no, no, no. I'm asking if you're a singer, do you do karaoke?
Shannon The Dude
I mean, occasionally, yeah. Do you. You want to go karaoke, bro?
Caller
No, no, kid.
Matt Jones
No.
Caller
Karaoke are for people who don't know how to play the guitar.
Matt Jones
Comes and apologizes about yesterday and now he's going after you.
Shannon The Dude
I'll expect an apology tomorrow, Binky.
Matt Jones
All right. Appreciate the call. No, it's. Shannon's a good singer. Can you play. You can play guitar a little bit.
Shannon The Dude
A little bit, yeah. I'm not a great guitar player.
Matt Jones
Who brought a guitar here today?
Doug Gottlieb
A UK that is court from Memorial Coliseum.
Matt Jones
Yeah, he has a guitar made out of a court from Memorial Coliseum. So that's a very cool.
Shannon The Dude
Cool bunch of autographs on there.
Mario
Can I back up, Bing, in one point about not going to dinner with you? I just wouldn't want to do it. I agree with him. You'd be down low on the list because you'd want to go to Skyline Chile.
Shannon The Dude
Well, Skyline's great. Don't put a bad name on Skyline.
Matt Jones
Skyline is very good. Let's be. Let's be honest. It's very good.
Max Duffy
I'm ready for some Australian meat pies here in a little bit.
Mario
Oh, yeah.
Matt Jones
Yes, we will have it. So. All right, we'll go into the rest of the week. Signing date. Looks like Kentucky's going to keep their whole class except the ones they've. Except for the couple guys decommitted the other day. I think that's a little bit of a win because when I saw those first two go, I was worried, oh, are seven or eight of them going to run out of here? They were able to keep. We hadn't lost the running back. I think it would be very successful. The running back does hurt.
Max Duffy
Yeah. They didn't scatter. That's good for on down the road. But they have immediate problems they need to address, so they still need to get a lot of additions. If Mark Stoops has any chance, it's.
Matt Jones
Going to end up being like the 27th, 28th ranked class, probably 11th or 12th in the SEC.
Mario
Max, not too bad. I mean, yeah, expecting a mass exodus. Honestly, with how we went this season and to retain most of them is pretty good. Again. We're going to have a lot of graphics put out this week of us asking guys to move on and then hopefully we hit the pool. Really, really good.
Matt Jones
You call those with that sense. I think when you see a. With that said, you need to tag Max Duffy and say with that said, because I don't think it's just going to be.
Mario
Then I'll put a tweet out saying, with that being said, I'm leaving Twitter.
Matt Jones
Hey, thank you all very much for showing up here both last night. Go ahead. Both last night in Fort Collins and then today in Windsor. It was very cool. We will be in Vail tomorrow. I'll send out where we are. We know we at least have two people there tomorrow who live there. So that's good. Thank you all very much. We'll see you later. Enjoy the night. This has been best night of college basketball maybe of the year. Tonight in the matchups, this has been Kentucky Sports Radio.
