Yeah, I am not good at it at all. I tried once. It does not work for me. All right, let's talk about a couple stories and then I want to tell the, the max story here for a second. First of all, this is a crazy story this morning. The CEO of United Healthcare, which is one of the major insurance companies in America, was walking into the investor meeting today where they like give earnings and all that, and he was just shot down and killed on the street.

[Doug Gottlieb]

Wow.

[Matt Jones]

And they say it was a targeted attack. It wasn't random violence. There was somebody that had been waiting there for him to walk in and killed him in New York City. You know, for all the thing about all New York's dangerous. It's usually like, you don't get just randomly shot in New York. So he, he was clearly targeted. That, that's weird. Like, right, Like, I mean, it could be. My initial reaction is I'm just going to guess. But when they find out who did it, I'm going to guess, just complete guess. It's somebody who had a family member get turned down for some kind of insurance. Yeah, that's the only part because who else would hate an insurance ce.

[Shannon The Dude]

Sounds like a plot out of a movie or something.

[Matt Jones]

It does. Like, it sounds like a movie. Somebody's upset that their mother doesn't get covered for something and then like, what.

[Max Duffy]

Do you think that could be one? I mean, just nature of insurance. That guy probably had a lot of enemies. It could, like you said, could be anyone that had a, you know, that felt wronged by his company. But just to be walking out early in the morning about to give a presentation.

Yes. I've been talking about this for 20 plus years. Finally it's happening. According to CNN.

Yeah. But it's exciting. It's coming back. And I'd like to thank Max and the Aussies for keeping the good name of Chi Chi's alive. Because Outback bought Chi Chi.

Many years ago. They kept, you know, the name going.

Remember when I was in Luxembourg, I saw one.

Chi Chi's is really the greatest place on Earth. I mean, it was when it was open anyway, and it's about to be again, and we had better get a location in Kentucky, because wherever that first one is, that's where we're going on a road trip.

I was going to say. You read my mind. Wherever they open the first one in America, I will take you on our summer road trip. Assuming it's already open by then. That's. That'll be where we go.

[Shannon The Dude]

Even if it's in Pennsylvania.

[Matt Jones]

We're going to run Pennsylvania, go back to. Have you ever had Chi Chi's?

No. I don't know. Oh, I'm missing out.

Oh, yes. I mean, it is happiness in your mouth. It is.

Oh, I get to get anything. Steak fajitas, the chimichangas, the fried ice cream.

You have to go back a second, Max, to answer your question. You know, now there's a Mexican restaurant on every corner, and they're all like, Chichi's knockoffs. You know, they're all like, lies Perranza or Taco Face. I mean, they're everywhere. But when we were kids, that wasn't true. I mean, there. There weren't Mexican restaurants in every town.

Tumbleweed and Chichi.

[Matt Jones]

Tumbleweed. Tumbleweed was American. Really? So Chichi's was where we felt like we were going to Mexico. Now, of course, it wasn't anything like Mexico. It was like sombreros, and it was. It was ridiculous.

Founded in Minnesota.

[Matt Jones]

Yeah. But when we. But at the time. At the time, it felt like exotic food. When you were from a small town to go to Chi Chi's was like leaving America.

[Mario]

Okay?

[Matt Jones]

And so I think those of us that age have some nostalgia for it.

[Mario]

Well, that sounds pretty good to me.

[Shannon The Dude]

Look, I'm gonna have kangaroo with you today. You're gonna have Chi Chi.

[Max Duffy]

You know, kids growing up, they put, like, their school pictures, and you can see how they grow Yeah, I had a wall of sombrero birthday pictures. We went to Choo Choo's every year, and you could just watch me get older with sombrero on.

[Matt Jones]

It was likely somewhat racist in hindsight, but they would. Basically, when you would go there, if it was your birthday, they would give you a sombrero. They would come out with the. What do you call those?

[Shannon The Dude]

Maracas.

[Matt Jones]

Maracas. And they would like.

[Shannon The Dude]

And everybody would dance and sing and. Yes.

[Matt Jones]

They would chant Jimmy Chong.

[Mario]

So these days, they would just give you sombrero, your taco, and your deportation litter.

Yeah, we're not quite as open on this stuff as. But. But for us, it was. It was a big deal back.

[Shannon The Dude]

Yes, right.

[Matt Jones]

Like, it was a. It was a big deal. So.

And I'm gonna tell you something. If I don't get the endorsement for Chi Chi's. No, you deserve. I mean, come on.

You should be at the ribbon cutting.

I know. Drew and I would go to Evansville. It's an hour drive. Where would you go?

[Matt Jones]

Lexington. The one next to where Lexington Green is?

[Doug Gottlieb]

Yeah.

There was one right there out in front. Right. You guys know there's one out there in front of Lexington Green. We go to Joseph Bath and Chi Chi's. And it was like. And then south park movie theater was across the street, and you were like, this is. This is living right here. Chi Chi's. For me, there was In. Toys R Us was across the street. Right. So you had Chi Chi's every. You guys with these Lexi connections. No, you had Chi Chi's and Jose Beth on one side.

[Doug Gottlieb]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

You had Toys R Us and in the south park movie theater right there. And that was like. That was heaven. When you were from Middlesboro, that trip to Lexington, a Blockbuster. We didn't rent movies in Lexington and take them back to Middlesborough. I mean, that was. You know, and then you go to the mall, and what they were. They had the video game store right there. And Fayetteville. I mean, Nicholsville Road. At that point, that little juncture might as well have been, you know, Christmas every day. For someone like me, it was like Times Square.

[Doug Gottlieb]

I'm trying to think, was it where the Arby's is now? Is that where it was?

[Matt Jones]

It was right there. The. The Cheechy's right at the front, right next to Nicholsville Road. Okay, so it's where that gas station is right now.

[Max Duffy]

There's a shell there.

Now there's a shell there. That's where. That's where it was right there. Yeah.

If Chi Chi's can come back. I think we have hope for everything. Anything that's been gone, I'm gonna.

Circuit City. Circuit City was great.

That's a good question. What. What. What businesses like that would you like to see? I loved Circuit City.

Yeah. You would pick the thing, and then you would go back in the back, and there'd be a guy named. Hand you a box, and there it was. Service merchandise.

There was a Roses restaurant called Lone Star in Australia where you used to be able to eat the peanuts, throw it on the ground.

[Matt Jones]

First of all, we've had that until recently. But then, Covid, they stopped letting you eat the. I love throwing the peanuts on the ground. I felt like I get to trash this place, and it's cool.

[Mario]

In Australia, I believe someone slipped on the shelves and got hurt. Therefore, they all had to close down.

[Matt Jones]

Oh, that's too bad. Yeah, Lone Star was great. Western sizzling.

[Doug Gottlieb]

Western Ponderosa.

With that. With that salad bar, I was more.

[Max Duffy]

Of a bonanza guy.

Bananza. Well, I'm just fun. All right, so let's talk about yesterday. Everywhere we go, when we eat, Drew films, like a little review. Shannon reviews the hotels. My thing is, I was like, I like gas stations. You know, I like to drive. I've been to a million gas stations. I always try to, as I said to Max, find one with panache. Yep, that's the word I use. I don't want to go to just a regular. I like panache. Yesterday, we were in some town Briggs style. No, it was like. It was Brickstown. We were in a town. We looked at it. I didn't see a gas station that I felt gave me the vibes.

[Mario]

Yeah.

[Matt Jones]

So I was like, let's just drive the next town. We get to a sign, it says, next fuel stop 60 miles away. We had 84 miles worth of gas left. According to my thing. I said, let's go.

[Max Duffy]

You got room for U turns?

[Matt Jones]

Yeah, that's exactly. Ryan started panicking.

[Doug Gottlieb]

We're in the middle of absolutely nowhere.

[Matt Jones]

And you get scared. You're always worried something bad's gonna happen.

[Doug Gottlieb]

We get stranded out there somewhere.

[Matt Jones]

Have we ever lost if we ever run our gas before?

[Max Duffy]

Did you not believe the sign that said 60 miles?

[Doug Gottlieb]

I didn't believe we were gonna have 84 miles of gas.

We did, but we pull it. But we have one choice, and it's like the Brigsdale pumping shop. So I don't know how many of you have been to Briggsdale, Colorado? You said it was just like a bump in the road. Right. One gas station, we walk in, we do the review. Mario and I walk in. It was perfectly nice, people. Shannon is you're using the bathroom with the door open, which I didn't understand.

More the merrier.

Just really excited about you.

There was a woman standing on top of the drink cooler, which was unique.

[Max Duffy]

On a ladder.

On a ladder. There was cooking sloppy joes.

Yes.

I thought it was good. There were six to eight Trump flags out front.

[Doug Gottlieb]

Yes.

The guy. The guy working behind the counter had a shirt that said, like, you show me your gun, I'll show you.

[Max Duffy]

Try this in a small town.

[Matt Jones]

Try this in a small town so you know where you are. I'm good in these places. Right, people? Well, it's not what I believe, but I've been around these people my whole life. I'm good. So we do our thing. For reasons I don't know, after we do this, Max and Mario decide to go in, start causing trouble.

[Max Duffy]

We're already back in the car.

We're back in the car. We're ready to leave.

Like, what's taking these two? So let's take.

What are Max and Mario doing? I mean, what are these two doing? Are they trying to try this in a small town? Is that what they're trying to do? Max, I'll let you take it from there.

[Mario]

Do I need my attorney present, or am I just going to speak openly about this?

[Matt Jones]

You can speak.

[Mario]

Well, first of all, me and Mario thought that you guys had just forgotten us because you just drove off. And we looked at the DJ Wagoneers halfway down the road. But I turned around at one point, and Mario was inches from this guy's face, and he was speaking in the calm tone that's almost too calm.

[Matt Jones]

Yep. He got too close to Mario's face. I think that's fair to say.

[Mario]

Like, he'd done all this. He'd done this confrontation before, and he just wanted to lay the law down a little bit. And basically he said, look, there's been a lot of trouble in this Brigdow town, which you can imagine. I mean, it's thriving metropolitan. And he said there might be 50.

[Matt Jones]

People that live there. He said, there's been a lot of.

[Mario]

Trouble, A lot of trouble in this town. And particularly they all target the gas station. And with you guys taking the video on this gas station, it's just going to give them a blueprint, which drew said. I mean, they could just walk in if they wanted to see it. They're here. This isn't a bank.

[Matt Jones]

Basically, you're giving them the blueprint on how to rob us.

[Mario]

And he said, I'm gonna give you one warning. If I see this video go out and someone comes in and robs this place in the next day or two, that ain't gonna be good for you.

[Matt Jones]

He said, there's gonna be trouble.

[Mario]

There's gonna be trouble.

[Matt Jones]

And so here's what I'm gonna ask. Mario went ahead and put the video out. Please. Nobody robbed that place. Yeah.

Just. Just. Just help us out, all right?

They seem like they might own guns.

I just. I feel like. Shannon, let's just all be good.

First of all, don't. These are nice people. They're just selling sloppy joes. It's. It's not that big a place. And I don't want Max specifically, because really, it would be his fault. I don't want him to go down.

But he gave him the blueprint, though. That's what I don't understand. I mean, isn't every gas station the same?

No.

You got the aisles, you got the chips, you got the beef jerky. You got the nerd coming. Clusters. It's all the same.

Favorite part of the video. Matt goes, oh, you're up there. You go up there often. That's the most awkward thing to say.

You know, I thought, I'm gonna say something to this woman. And then I got up there, Shannon.

Yeah. They were selling gloves that were pre dirty, which I thought was good for.

And you were like, I was working in the dirt.

It was a tiny place.

And the guy behind us at the gas pump, he got all excited, right? He wanted you guys. He said, are you guys all bloggers?

Oh, he came up to me, he goes, hey, man.

He was driving this huge piece of machinery. He's like, hey, you guys bloggers? I was like, yes, we are. He thought it was the coolest.

Yeah. But I think I may have found the perpetrator because there was one guy that was coming in that was staying away from the camera. Like he wanted to get behind it. He didn't want to get involved.

I see him since he was in like the sixth grade. He is really improved. I mean, he's now developing where he's obviously one of the best big men in the country, but he's a kid is going to get better and better and better as he gets stronger and stronger and stronger. I, I think he's got a big ceiling.

You, you have follow both those Kentucky kids that committed to Kentucky, Malachi Moreno and Jasper Johnson. You're basically your son and you've been watching them since they were little kids. And I think you were skeptical, if it's fair to say, on both of them being UK players early, but you've kind of turned on both of them in a positive way.

[Doug Gottlieb]

Yeah.

There's no doubt about it. Both of them have become major college basketball prospects because they work so hard at it. I mean, Jasper, when he was dominating as a sixth grader, but by the time he got to high school, he just became a different player. Man, he just really took off.

You think they both are Kentucky level players?

[Doug Gottlieb]

Yes, no doubt. Absolutely.

And I don't want to be disrespectful. They're better than Travis and Trent.

Do you. There are some people who are saying, Drew, maybe if Kerr is playing as poorly as he did, you give Travis Perry a run. What do you think about that? I don't know if that would have been the environment.

Yeah, I mean, Travis looked like he even struggled when he was getting in, in the mop up. Minutes early. I think Kerr's better than he showed last night. Now if we continue to see more of the same, you got to do something different. But I'm hopeful last night was just as bad as we're going to see from him because he has been better in other games. He's had great games at Arizona, he's had great games at West Virginia. He's played a lot of college basketball look better than he did last night. But if it continues, they need to make a change.

[Mario]

A good thing about having 30 odd games is you get to find out little things as you go along. He gets puts guys out there like Kirk got 21 minutes last night and it's like maybe we learn a little bit, maybe we don't give him as much. And same thing with William, same thing with everyone. I mean Jackson, Robinson last night much improved. So just little things along the way that he can tinker with the lineup. He's smart. We'll figure it out.

Let me give you one thing about the portal that was switching to football for a second. The portal actually doesn't open till next week.

Kentucky football at one one service had him as a five star at one point. Yeah, he's played some. He definitely was one of the most talented returning pieces. But there were also a lot of talk, you know he did. He didn't play a lot and there was also a lot of talk that some of the locker room issues that were talked about, he was kind of part of that. What were your thoughts about him leaving?

[Doug Gottlieb]

I thought he was going to be the next big superstar on the defensive line for Kentucky. I really did.

But he didn't play this year. Didn't.

Didn't play much and when he did play he was kind of non existent a lot of times it seemed like.

I feel no different after that loss last night.

I still feel this team is really, really good. It was an off shooting night. We didn't handle the physicality very well. But in the big stage with Gonzaga, I think they'll probably step up and play well.

I don't feel great about it. I'm just being honest with you. I mean, the same team that beat Baylor by 40 points.

[Matt Jones]

They did, but they lost to West Virginia and we're down almost the whole game.

[Shannon The Dude]

That's right.

I mean, they're not unbeatable, but again, you're going on the road. It's all the way across country. It's going to be a tough atmosphere for them.

[Mario]

I'm looking forward to the adjustments that Mark Pope makes and just see what he brings to the game. That's a little bit different from the Clemson game. Maybe a lot more threes, maybe a little bit more movement, less dribbling.

[Max Duffy]

I'm hoping because they haven't been shooting well, you know, there's going to be a night where they just shoot somebody out of the gym. I'm hoping it hits while we're in.

[Matt Jones]

That's going to happen sometimes.

But really you can only grade them off your own kind of expectations. And I thought they'd go one and two against Duke, Clemson, Gonzaga, they're one and one. Yeah, they've already surprised us with Duke. So even though I don't want to go 02 this week, at least where I thought they still kind of house money.

[Matt Jones]

I mean, we all thought we were going to lose to Duke, so we can't lose track of the fact that we beat Duke. True. I mean, I think that is. That is an important thing to remember.

[Doug Gottlieb]

And we said really, we would all be happy if they just split games this week. I think, you know, go one on one this week.

[Matt Jones]

Were you surprised to see that the playoff committee ranked Alabama ahead of Miami? 3 loss SEC team over a 2 loss ACC team? ACC people are livid about it. If Clemson beats. Excuse me, if SMU beats Clemson, Bama's in the playoff. And I would argue if Clemson beats smu, they might still be in the playoff. Do you think Bama should sneak in again for the second straight year?

[Max Duffy]

I think so. I mean, Miami's been good, but man, in that conference you just don't get many good wins. It's like they play a different sport. And I think we're going to see what we saw last year where we get a bunch of whining from the ACC and everybody else just moves on without them.

[Mario]

Unfortunately, we didn't see it in our game against Louisville, but there's a massive difference between SEC and acc, particularly in the top five or six teams. Alabama deserves to be in there now whether, whether they're a really, really good team this year, who knows. But they deserve to be in the.

[Matt Jones]

Top 12 in the projected playoff. Shannon, they have Tennessee, Ohio State, first round in Columbus. That would be a heck of a game.

[Shannon The Dude]

It's a great way to kick off the first year of a 12 team playoff.

That would be awesome. And they have Alabama at Notre Dame. I mean that would also be a.

Very cool game because of the names but you know Alabama got beat by Vandy.

So we thought the 12 team playoff would erase controversy but it's still there because there's always going to be a 13th team that doesn't make it was.

Going to erase controversy were just ridiculous. I mean there are 68 teams in the basketball tournament and there's controversy over that too. Like there's going to be always controversy. Here's what I love about the playoff. This is why the playoff anyone you hear complaining about it is just an old fuddy duddy. It made me he called them.

Oh then you use the word fuddy duddy.

Fuddy duddy is a very young word.

I'm just telling you they're a funny duddy and I believe that's a very current word. Here's why they're an old fuddy duddy. Right. I cared more about games this year that I would have never cared out about before because of this Saturday night. Before we left Sunday I was watching Iowa State, Kansas State following a game that I can guarantee you I would not have cared about one bit before this. SMU is going to play Clemson in the ACC title and I'm going to try to watch it. It's during the Kentucky game so I'll have it in the background. But I would never care if SMU was playing Clemson normally. I think it has made it to where more of college football matters than it used to.

[Doug Gottlieb]

And I think those first round players, playoff games on somebody's home field, they're.

[Matt Jones]

Going to be awesome.

Whereas there used to be a bowl game we probably didn't really pay attention to. Now this means something. It's a playoff game on their home field. We're all going to watch it.

It makes it so much better. I mean you got bowl games, players opting out. You know, half the team doesn't want to be there.

I mean the teams that don't, not in the playoff though, they're won't in the playoff in. A lot of those, A lot of those other bowl games will probably get hurt. But honestly they were headed down that path anyway. But Max, I mean you're going to get like, think about what the playoff would have been. Let's talk about what the playoff would have been in the old format. All right, who would be in? Oregon would be in for sure. Probably the winner of Texas. Georgia would be in. But then you'd have probably had what Notre Dame and Penn State. Does that make you feel good? Notre Dame, Penn State. Like this is so much better, Max. It's so much more entertaining.

[Mario]

It's so much better. And like you said, I mean the winning your conference championship now, there's so much more to that. Like yeah, obviously people are going to be happy. But you know, winning the Big 12 this year, there was six teams or nine teams I think in the final game or the final round of the year that were. That could make that championship game, which is insane. And it makes it so much more fun. Like everyone is still live now for that Big 12 spot. Like I don't know, I just, I just think it's just so much better just to see that competition and to watch a Big 12 championship game and it means something.

[Matt Jones]

I totally agree. Hey, we got another person here. Let's go. I love it. Love the playoff and that first round which will be when Kentucky plays Ohio State in basketball that weekend. That's going to be. You can have a seat right there if you want. That's going to be an awesome weekend of college basketball, of college football.

And I love. There's a little bit more of a Cinderella aspect now. If you're in the 12, you're good. But like a boys year in SMU, I mean the off chance they run through it and win it all. You never really had that opportunity before.

So they're very mad that you and I and others said that maybe Keyshawn Silver, while a very talented player, not the worst loss. Nick Roush believes it's a huge loss. Opinions. All right, so Nick Roush believes Keyshawn Silver is a big loss. I think it's a loss, but I also think UK is not crying about it because there were some off the field issues there. So these people are now saying Matt and Drew continue to spin for Vince and their boy Stoops. This is a massive loss. Nick Roush said it. They are all in the spin zone. Have we taken a call from Vince or Stoops about Keyshawn Silver?

No, I didn't comment on Keyshawn Silver, by the way.

So I looked at the numbers. Keyshawn Silver had 23 tackles this year, which was 14th on the team in tackles. He had the fifth most tackles on the defensive line. Be a dude you'd like to have return if things were great. But no, I do not believe Max. I think it's an. It's the biggest loss they've had, but I don't think it's like a breaking loss.

That is true. I remember one year in basketball, Northwestern was like 9 and 22 and I remember watching their first game, they go, they got a lot of people back. And my friend the turkey hunter goes, do they want them back? They went 9 and 22 last year.

Honestly, I haven't written down the names, but there's only a few people that I would be upset if leave from this team. I'm ready for them. Just power wash the locker room and clean it up.

Who would be a couple that you would be worried?

Wilcox. I would want back Harley Gilmore, Willie Rodriguez, some of the young guys on defense. There's some young names. You haven't seen much. There's a guy called him Sack Em Souls. He got in late in some games. If the twins from Corbin, I still hope they turn into something. Mostly a lot of the young people. Cutter, Bowling cutter, of course. And I'm naming a lot of young people Dane. I'll say Dane, but really there's not many more that I care if they go because if the culture has been that bad, you're going to have to lose a lot of People, some reports.

Tennessee and you guys, I think Tennessee is a bad matchup for us this year. Tennessee's the one that I think we play them twice. If you told me tomorrow we'd win one of the two, I'd sign up for that immediately because I think they're a tough matchup for us. What about Auburn? Auburn. Well, I mean, Auburn's tough because they're good. But I don't think from a matchup perspective, it's particular. It's any harder than anything else. They're just really good. But, I mean, obviously Auburn's gonna be hard. They're the. Maybe the best team in the country. But if you're just talking about what's the team that matches up with us in a tough way, I would worry the most about Tennessee.

I think a Cal team, I'll be honest with you, I think a Cal team will, when we play against our Alabama, will either win by 15 or they'll beat us. I mean, it's like, think about how he did. Think about the games over the years he's had with Nate Oates right?

He either won by a ton, Blew.
