Welcome back. Hour number two Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Thank you very much, sir. 772-774-5525. There we go. Yeah. Yeah. Billy was here. He led the last one at KY Sports Radio here at the KS Bar and Grill. Come on out and see us. We've been learning more about Ryan's life. It's, you know, we, we should, we should talk more so, so that we know Ryan's got involved in all kinds of stuff.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I got some things moving and shaking. That's why 2025 is going to be a big year, I think in my house.
Matt Jones
So what do you want to say or no?
Ryan Lemond
Well, I don't mind to say.
Matt Jones
Okay. I mean you don't have to say.
Ryan Lemond
But I actually enjoyed it. I've been door dashing. I've been the door dasher that brings you your orders.
Matt Jones
You've been doordashing since like, October. When were you gonna tell us this?
Ryan Lemond
You know, I figured sooner or later somebody would say something to you, but it's actually, it's a lot of fun. I enjoy it. You pick up some extra money, but I enjoyed it.
Matt Jones
So you're doing it. You, you, you were explaining. You've got like, a lot of big things that happened in 2024 you have to take care of.
Ryan Lemond
Yes. A lot of bills.
Matt Jones
And so you've picked up that. That as an extra job. I did not know. How. How's that go? Like, I don't. I've never known anybody that does that. Do you like what. What's it like?
Ryan Lemond
Well, you have to. You got an app and you sign in, making it see if they need dashers.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
Called dashers. And if they need a dasher, you sign in and then boom, you start getting orders in your area. Like, I've got three areas. Georgetown, Lexington, South Lexington. Those are my three areas.
Matt Jones
Do you. Do you enjoy it?
Ryan Lemond
I enjoy it. It's actually fun. I delivered to Jagger Burton one day, went to Cane's. He ordered Cane's, by the way.
Matt Jones
I mean, you went to Jagger Burton. What was that like?
Ryan Lemond
It was fun. It was like, hey, what are you doing? Hey, how you doing?
Matt Jones
So, so do you. So do people tip you?
Ryan Lemond
Well, sometimes. Sometimes you get zero. Sometimes I get a really good tip. But I got really mad the other day. I got zero. You got zero on like a 45. $. 45 minutes it took me to fulfill his order.
Matt Jones
Gave you zero.
Drew Franklin
Did almost an hour worth of work.
Ryan Lemond
And got zero tips.
Matt Jones
But you get something from doordash, right?
Ryan Lemond
You get a little every order you get something from doordash, but you make most your money on the tips.
Matt Jones
Well, I hope if someone listening gets you, I hope they give you a big tip. I would give you a big tip. I get you. I give pretty good. What I understand is how doordash the tips they suggest to you. You know, they suggest amounts.
Ryan Lemond
Do they see. I don't see it on your.
Matt Jones
But they widely vary the amounts they'll suggest. They'll suggest like $2, and then another time they'll suggest like $8. And then they'll suggest. And I never know how they decide what they're going to suggest or. You know what I mean?
Drew Franklin
Although it's just a percentage, isn't just like.
Matt Jones
No. Sometimes I feel like it has something to do with also how far they go. Because. Because I think there's a. I think. I think it's a difference with how far they go. But, you know, your name is gonna pop up on people's thing. It also has your picture.
Drew Franklin
Brian is arriving with your order.
Ryan Lemond
Does this. But I don't know what.
Drew Franklin
That's yesterday. And I'm actually very mad that it was Trent.
Matt Jones
So can I request you?
Ryan Lemond
I don't think you can. I think it's, you know, they. I get the order depending on where I'm located at the time. So if I'm, like, in Georgetown, I'm not going to get an order for you in Lexington.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I kind of wish that I had learned this with just you at my front door. That would have been a great surprise.
Ryan Lemond
That would have been a good surprise. I delivered.
Drew Franklin
Drew F. You should not be embarrassed or ashamed as someone who. You serve food, lots of people doordash. There's absolutely nothing wrong with you. Doordash. And make a little extra money.
Ryan Lemond
Actually, I enjoy it. It's kind of fun. I'm gonna do it this afternoon.
Matt Jones
But, you know, I mean, you're like, you. What you're dealing with what a lot of people do, which is that, I mean, you. I. I know what you make on this show. And for people who don't know, you do make a good amount of money on this show. But, like, things happen in life.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, amen. Yeah. I had a hospital visit. I've got attorney bills. I've got a credit card bill. I mean, it's. It's kind of. It got out of hand. So I'm going to do some things to kind of chip away at that.
Matt Jones
I'm proud of you.
Ryan Lemond
Well, thank you.
Matt Jones
If I end up getting you, I will tip you big. But I do have a question, because I think. Feel like I know you pretty well. Have you reached into a bag and gotten a fry out at some point?
Ryan Lemond
No, because they actually. They put a sticker on it. They. They fold the bag over and put a doordash sticker on it to keep you from opening the bag.
Matt Jones
And you've never, like, thought it smelled good.
Ryan Lemond
Oh, it definitely smells good. You go by city barbecue, and you pick up a bunch of barbecue. Like, whoa, that smells really good.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
Wait for someone to DoorDash KS Bar and Ryan's their delivery guy. That'll be it.
Matt Jones
That would be a good.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I did learn something. You know, there's a door dash store down here on.
Matt Jones
It's where that Walgreens is, right?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Over here in front of the old Campbell.
Matt Jones
I'll tell you something about that store real Quick. So, so sometimes I get up early in the morning, I go grab breakfast and I will sit in a parking lot and plan the show. Yeah, okay. Sometimes. And today I was doing that right across the street from that, from that place. And there were, there were.
Ryan Lemond
Brian Lane just gave you a tip.
Matt Jones
Ryan Lane in the house. How are you? There were, there were eight unmarked police cars that all came pulling out at once. The moment they pulled out on Harrodsburg Road, they turned their lights on and went racing down the road. Eight of them and they were white like SUVs. And they came one after another right from that Home Depot. You know where the Home Depot is? I don't know what's over there, but I'm just going to tell you something's over there at that Home Depot. Now they weren't like they weren't investigating the Home Depot cuz they went flying down Harrodsburg Road towards like out of town. But there were eight of them and they came one after another after another. And then the moment they would pull in Harrodsburg, they turned their lights on. Eight of them at like 9:30 in the morning.
Ryan Lemond
It was obviously a raider. They're getting ready to race.
Matt Jones
But what is over there next to the Home Depot where there would be, where they all would be. Why would they all be over there?
Drew Franklin
Might have been the more they just parked being a big parking lot. Wait for their signal.
Matt Jones
Wait for the signal.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. Probably have need a big area.
Matt Jones
It was wild. There literally were like. It was. Sounds like again eight of them. All right, speaking of, I asked everybody the numbers that they, that they thought we needed to win. The average number seems to be either six or seven, but there are a bunch of sevens. So I think five, like you may be the one person that says five, Ryan. I think six and six or seven is going to be the number for Stoops next year.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I said six, but I could be talked into five if they had some like a really good game to get. Texas, Georgia, like you know, some of those powerhouse teams, you play them well.
Matt Jones
All right, so let's talk just a second about snow. All right. They're saying it could be anywhere from 3 inches to over a foot on Sunday. The, the models, which by the way, I saw a model that I wanted to post and I was worried Mark Weinberg would come stab me.
Ryan Lemond
Be careful.
Matt Jones
So I did not post it, but I saw a model basically like our state is, is, is ground zero. And like it looks like no matter what happens, a third of our state is getting drenched. A third of our states getting very little, and a third's getting ice, which may be worse than the snow. And, like, it seems to keep shifting. Who's getting what? As of right now, it looks like that you're gonna have the. The people to the north of us getting the snow, us maybe getting the ice, and people to the south of us kind of right in the middle somewhere. But it could shift, apparently. Like, it could go. It might be the south of us gets the hard part. We get the. Like, it's. We don't know. But it seems like Sunday, and it's all day Sunday. It looks like it's what's happening.
Ryan Lemond
I keep hearing them talk about it. This that's coming in. You may have seen this. It could get down to a low of 4 degrees.
Matt Jones
They said it. They said it could be as low as zero on Sunday night with. With negative 15 wind chill, which we haven't seen apparently in Lexington in like a decade.
Drew Franklin
I.
Ryan Lemond
Then I think this is just the beginning. I think the whole month of January could be nasty wintery stuff. Most of the.
Matt Jones
Was that in Farmer. Farmers Almanac.
Ryan Lemond
Almanac. Yeah.
Matt Jones
So, I mean, this is like. This is crazy stuff. So how are you going to prepare?
Drew Franklin
I'm gonna doordash. I'm gonna clean off.
Matt Jones
Oh, you know, this is your wheelhouse. Seriously. And let me say snow is probably when you would get your biggest tips. Do you have a car that can navigate that?
Ryan Lemond
I do not.
Matt Jones
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
Can I borrow yours?
Matt Jones
No. Although you. Wait a minute. Yeah, you. That car can do it.
Ryan Lemond
I don't know if I trust it going out in deep snow.
Matt Jones
Okay, well. Well, either way.
Drew Franklin
Super Bowl.
Matt Jones
Are you going to, like, go to the grocery store, Drew, and get prepared?
Ryan Lemond
Get your milk and bread.
Matt Jones
I was.
Drew Franklin
I already have a grocery trip today because I need one. But I. The whole trip's changed. It is now a preparation change.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So. So apparently tonight, all the weather people say they'll have a better idea tonight, which I guess would be true every day. They'll have a better idea than the day before. But. But we'll find out.
Drew Franklin
Will that affect Monday morning? It's already a big show, you know, with you kind of a fringe employee here. You know, Iran and I are gonna have to dig our way to KS Bar and do it.
Matt Jones
That's true. I mean, I can walk if I have to. To KS Bar. You all better be here. I'll tell you that on Monday.
Ryan Lemond
You better be here Monday.
Matt Jones
I'll be here Monday. The question is Tuesday. That's that? That's the question. Who's up next? Free Bird, Freebird, how are you?
Caller
Hey guys, Happy New Year. I've got an off the wall question and I don't even know if it's a possibility. With the strong as these super conferences are in football, especially sec, is there any possible way where it would be discussed if Kentucky moved to another conference or possibly would go independent like Notre Dame? No, I didn't think so.
Matt Jones
Kentucky will never leave the SEC because it'd be like saying hey would you leave your job making 5 million a year to make 1 million a year at a less prestigious company? No one's going to do that, right? I mean that's, that's what Kentucky's. Kentucky's not leaving the sec. Kentucky's not going independent. You know the SEC at some point I'm sure will grow larger but there's a couple school, you know I always say Vandy and Mississippi State should send a thank you note for the rest of their lives to heaven for the fact that they're in the sec. Kentucky's because their basketball tradition is a little different. But we will never leave the sec. No.
Caller
So then we've got to have bukus of money because you know, we can't keep up with the traditional power.
Matt Jones
See, I don't think it's the money. It's interesting you say that and I appreciate the call because I had this conversation with someone who I think is very, very, very smart nationally about college football and we were talking about the future. This was their take. I'd be interested to see if you agree this, this is a person all of you know respected nationally who said the problem for the Kentucky's of the world used to be tradition facilities. That's not really a problem anymore. Then the problem was nil money. With the new settlement that's coming basically all the schools are going to have the same amount of money. Pretty much. Some schools will be able to go over the top a little bit but for the most part everybody's going to have money. So they said they don't even think it's money anymore. Now it's just tradition and placing guys in the NFL. And the premise this person was telling me was Kentucky will have a better chance of being competitive in the SEC if they get the right coach in the right system and all that now than has ever been the case before. And that they said that's true of every school. That now the money which has always been the great divide is not going to be as weird as it sounds if everybody has money, then the money isn't a problem. Ryan, does that make sense?
Ryan Lemond
Makes total sense, yeah. So I'm going to ask you this. So, like, at a school like Kentucky where basketball maybe gets the most notoriety, do they get a little more money?
Matt Jones
No, they have to just take it from football. But a lot of people believe that the amount of money it takes to be good at basketball, that isn't like, this is what I'm being told. At least Kentucky will, out of its official 22 million, give a little bit more to basketball than other schools. But most of the basketball in IL money is still going to come from donors and like, it won't have a huge effect.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
For all these schools. Almost all the money's coming from. From football to football anyway.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. A lot of it is just going to be. You talk about tradition and stuff. At least Stoops gave us a little bit of a bump from what Kentucky football was because I think a lot of this is going to be logo recognition with these kids. And just knowing the school, NFL will be a big part of it. You mentioned that. But at least Kentucky's had some, some recent success, a little bit known nationally. They're not a powerhouse, but better than they were going into this era, I think.
Matt Jones
I still think it's going to be really hard to compete for Kentucky, but I think some. You know, you used to hear me talk about the barrier to Kentucky. We didn't produce a lot of local talent, right? Well, we still don't. But local talent is not the big thing anymore because you're getting transfers. Like, I mean, think about our last three or four years. Most of our best players came from somewhere else, right?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
You know, I don't know. I mean, we'll see what. When we're watching the national championship game, I'll be fascinated, Ryan, whenever who's playing it to see how many of the starting lineup for each teams started at that school. That'll be interesting to see. I don't know what the answer will be, but it'll be interesting.
Ryan Lemond
Samuel's guys, they actually recruited and how.
Matt Jones
Many of them did they actually recruit and develop and how many of them did they bring in at some point? I don't know what the answer will be, but we'll. We'll see. DraftKings tonight. Let's do our Draft Kings special segment tonight. You got Georgia and Notre dame. It's at 4:00. From the Sugar bowl, go to DraftKings.com that's bet to back to bet five. Get $200 back to the $200 bonus. Use my promo code. KSR. Who do you like today? Georgia. Notre Dame.
Ryan Lemond
It is still one point.
Matt Jones
Is.
Ryan Lemond
It was a one point spread.
Drew Franklin
I saw one and a half at one point.
Ryan Lemond
I mean, I know we've got Gunner Stockton as the quarterback, but I'm still going.
Matt Jones
Georgia, you're going. It is Notre Dame by one.
Ryan Lemond
I'm taking Georgia.
Drew Franklin
Going with the Irish. I parlayed all four games. Three for three. I need the Irish to cash my tickets. So we'll go with Notre Dame.
Matt Jones
Georgia's winning sec, Big Ten going to be the last two team. Four teams left. I think that's going to be the case most of the years in this playoff system. I think Georgia gets a victory and sets up what should be two really good playoff games in the semifinal.
Ryan Lemond
I think so, too. Notre Dame did look good and then they dismantled Indiana. But I think that's because Indiana really wasn't that good.
Matt Jones
I think Georgia's just going to have a lot better players when you get to that point. We will take a break and be right back here at KS Bars, Kentucky Sports Radio. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio here live at the KS Bar and Grill. Come on out, have lunch. We have lunch specials all day tonight. You can also watch the games here 4 and 7 Saturday we will open at 9 for the football game. Open early, serve breakfast or basically basketball game, which is at 11:00am against Florida. One person writes. Matt, I want to say something. I want you to read this for Ryan. So this will be my ksr, the Kentucky braided tweet of the day. I'm proud of Ryan. Being transparent about real life is commendable. That's why I love him. If I get him on door dash, he'll get the biggest tip that's ever happened in life. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
All right. Well, I'll be working this afternoon, sir, if you want to try to order here in Lexington, I feel like they.
Matt Jones
Should let you pick. Yeah, like I would select you.
Drew Franklin
Well, you can type special request. Maybe the driver will get it. And I'll just type, will you go find Ryan?
Matt Jones
Will you go find Ryan?
Ryan Lemond
One thing I did learn, like, if you do it here in the Lexus area, you get a lot of college kids. They don't tip.
Matt Jones
Oh, ask the people that serve at this restaurant. They know that. The college kids, y'all. I like college. Like you guys are good kids. But you know what? You don't tip your servers, tip your drivers. Like, you'll, you'll want you'll wish you did it later in life. It all life comes full circle at some point. I don't mean to bring the mood down, but the story in Laurel county is awful. Yeah, I mean, like, have you. Have you heard about this, Drew? So they police were. Were serving a warrant. Now, I could be wrong about this, and please correct me if I am, but it was for a stolen weed eater. Is that what we're talking about?
Ryan Lemond
That was part of it. I don't know if that was the only thing, but it was definitely part of it.
Matt Jones
Was it. Was there more? Because that might be important.
Ryan Lemond
I don't know. Actually, I don't know.
Matt Jones
Well, either way, I. At least part of it was a stolen weed eater. Served it. Served it to the wrong house, had the number wrong on the house, bust in and ended up killing a guy who was just at his house, who was worried that people were busting in, got a gun, and then, you know, he ends up getting killed. Just a terrible, terrible story. And, you know, I. There are some. Some. I don't want to say things that aren't official, but there are some things that suggest maybe the reason it was served was because the weed eaters was somebody that's in a position of power. Otherwise, because it doesn't feel like you should be busting into people's houses for weed eaters. Now, maybe there's something we don't know, Right? Like there might be something. I want to be clear about that sometimes what you read in the initial, like, reports may or may not be true. We saw that with the. The guy in New Orleans initially, people said he crossed the border illegally. Turned out he was American citizen. Like, sometimes you get, like, it's wr. Wrong. But to me, you don't go busting people's house for a weed eater in the middle of the night. To me. Am I wrong?
Ryan Lemond
No, you're right.
Drew Franklin
That 1150.
Matt Jones
That's why there's 1150 at night. You can't come do that during the day.
Ryan Lemond
And if I'm in my house and somebody bangs in my door busting my 1150, if. If I've got a gun, I'm protect. Trying to protect myself, too. You don't know what's coming at you, but he.
Matt Jones
The guy ends up getting killed.
Ryan Lemond
Then he got killed.
Matt Jones
He got. It's. I mean, it's awful, right?
Drew Franklin
Man at home by himself.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Drew Franklin
Probably asleep at that.
Ryan Lemond
Probably asleep.
Matt Jones
Again, I want to be clear. I'm open to hearing something that can convince me the other way. I'm not Being definitive on this. But if the facts are that it was a stolen Weed eater. Look, do mistakes happen with warrants? Yes. Is it. Should they not? Yes. People make mistakes. I get that, but what do you. I don't care if it's the guy who stole the Weed Eater. What are you doing busted in their house at midnight for a stolen weed eater?
Ryan Lemond
If it's weed eater only, don't you just wait till the next morning is ring the door, ring the doorbell. Excuse me, sir.
Matt Jones
Now again, Maybe there's something else.
Ryan Lemond
That's the rumor there was something else.
Matt Jones
But even if there is something else, it doesn't help the guy who was shot. That's still awful, no matter what. I mean, you gotta get. Apparently the address was repeated. They have tape five times in the conversation. The address was repeated incorrectly over and over.
Ryan Lemond
Was it.
Drew Franklin
There were two houses away.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And it was like 495 and 515. It wasn't even. Like. It wasn't one of those, like, 5, 19, 591 or whatever. Like, I don't know. It's terrible stories in Laurel county and, you know, I mean, there's not much else you can say except it's terrible. Who's up next? Sean? Sean. What's up, Sean?
Caller
Hey, guys. Good morning. Three quick ones. I don't know what the number is for. For the football, five or six. I'm not sure where the sixth game comes from, but even let's say they win first three and they're going ready to start the conference play, I'm calling this the Red October for stoops that if they get run out of the field during Georgia, Texas and Tennessee, I don't care how good they look the first four games, those three games are going to be critical.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I actually completely disagree with why. All right, so to me, okay, Georgia, Texas and Tennessee are the three hardest games we play. Why are you. I mean, let's. Just to use your example, let's say we were to go nine and three and then we get run off the field. Georgia, Texas and Tennessee. You'd still be mad about that.
Caller
I just. That's. That's the question mark of the effort and the leadership. That that's what I'm going to be watching for. Are those kids laying down? I mean, if they're out there, you know, busting their teeth and filling up buckets. Okay, good. That's fine. But I'm just saying there's a chance right there that all the good effort and all the good coaching that they do previous to the October it could all be for. Not if they go out there and they. And they.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I mean, I feel like they played Georgia, Texas and Tennessee. They were. Those were three of their better performances this year, honestly. I mean, you know, Georgia, we lost by one. They were competitive in the game at Tennessee. I don't know that they were competitive at Texas, but I didn't feel like open there. Yeah, I didn't feel like they laid down. The problem for me was South Carolina. The problem for me was Louisville. Problem for me was Vandy. You know, and I appreciate the call. They do have those three games right in a row. But look, they'll beat the three stinky teams. They've got to find three more wins. Vandy on the road, I guess is one. Maybe Ole Miss at home trying to.
Ryan Lemond
Get it at Auburn.
Matt Jones
Pulling up set at Auburn, at South Carolina, at Louisville. But Ryan, it ain't easy to find any of them.
Ryan Lemond
You just saying that again just emphasizes how crazy tough this schedule is. Next year your home games are Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, and I guess you get Florida home. Florida, yeah.
Matt Jones
So maybe that's one you hope to get.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Drew Franklin
I'm going to come off as sky is falling, guy. But week one against Toledo, I'm not looking past and I'm being dead serious.
Matt Jones
They beat Pitt.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
And I mean Kentucky should win, but that might be a game. We're in the fourth quarter, we're like.
Ryan Lemond
Oh my goodness, Chip, train them next year too.
Matt Jones
Look, I don't even think about what happens if you lose to Toledo in the first game.
Drew Franklin
They are good.
Matt Jones
Like, I mean, but you're right, that's a. That's a game. That's not a gimme, gimme.
Drew Franklin
You don't think Chip wants to come in here and run yards?
Matt Jones
No doubt. We'll take a break. Be right back. KSR, welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio. 859-280-2287. Thank you very much. Text machine is 772-7745254. One person writes on the text machine. Matt, I had a memory when you were talking about the weed eater. Am I right? That Caliperi once took a weed eater. That was a story once. You remember that?
Ryan Lemond
He borrowed it.
Matt Jones
He borrowed it and wouldn't give it back or something like that.
Ryan Lemond
He said he forgot to give it back. Yeah, and the guy didn't. The guy ended up saying something publicly about it. How do we find out about it?
Matt Jones
I don't remember how we found out. Maybe his wife said something about it or Something I don't remember. But I do remember that being a story worth.
Drew Franklin
I can remember Cal talking about it in a press conference because he was very cow. He's like. I don't even know what a weed eater is. Why would I take one? Ellen took it. But I'm trying to think of how.
Matt Jones
That'S a weed eater. Never heard of such a thing. Yeah.
Drew Franklin
I think I wrote it in like a Zillow listing.
Matt Jones
That's what it was. Yes. That's what it was.
Drew Franklin
They were like down the street is a guy.
Matt Jones
Yes. You should get my weed eater. Yes. That's exact memory. That's exactly. Exactly right. One person writes, Matt on New Year's Eve. I watched Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper. I remember you used to enjoy that. I did. I watched some of it this year. They did. They do entertain me. Those two guys getting drunk. They let them drink again.
Ryan Lemond
They didn't seem they got as drunk this year as they normally do.
Matt Jones
I think the people around them were enough. Did you see Ray Fines doing that monologue? You need to look that up.
Drew Franklin
I didn't see that. I caught a lot of the highlights.
Matt Jones
Ray finds. Did like that. I'm demure. I'm whatever. You need to see that. That's good. Anyway. 1. He said this person writes. Would you guys want to be in Times Square on New Year's Eve? It looks awful to me. It looks like the worst thing I've ever seen. Why would you want to do that? First part of why. I don't understand why you'd want to do it. Is Nothing is happening. You're just standing there like you're just standing there in the rain. In the cold. Just standing there with your Planet Fitness hat on. Like what's the point?
Ryan Lemond
And you. Most people wear adult diapers because they. There are no bathrooms down there.
Matt Jones
What do you mean? Most people wear adult diapers?
Ryan Lemond
That's kind of the thing. It's known you wear adult diapers.
Matt Jones
Says who?
Drew Franklin
I saw an interview yesterday. Someone had already admit to peeing their pants. And it was like noon.
Matt Jones
I'm going.
Drew Franklin
They're like.
Matt Jones
You have to challenge you on something. I understand that there might be some people or that where you think most people in that crowd are wearing adult diapers.
Ryan Lemond
I think it's kind of understood because there's no.
Matt Jones
I don't think that's true.
Ryan Lemond
Stand down there for five.
Matt Jones
What are you basing that on?
Ryan Lemond
And there's reports.
Matt Jones
What reports?
Ryan Lemond
I think. I think the Google machine will back.
Matt Jones
So you're telling me that There are stories.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
From legitimate news agencies.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
That say most people are wearing adult diapers.
Ryan Lemond
Yes.
Matt Jones
I don't think that's Times Square. I don't.
Drew Franklin
First Google result is the New York Times.
Matt Jones
Okay, but what does it say, though? I want to know what it says.
Drew Franklin
Talking about how a table at Applebee's is $1,000 and people are wearing diapers to line up at the front of Times Square.
Matt Jones
What people? How many? Does it say how many people? But does it say how many people in the area?
Drew Franklin
I don't think they counted.
Matt Jones
But he said most people are wearing adult diapers.
Drew Franklin
Watched the video. Everyone in those front rows were admitting it. They weren't hiding it. They were like, I've already peed twice. I got here at 7am they're there.
Ryan Lemond
All day, and there's no bathrooms. There's no porta Potties, and the businesses down there do not open the doors to let you use the bathroom.
Matt Jones
All right. You two just grow with. Most people are wearing adult diapers. So you're just telling me those people voluntarily all stand there to go stand around a bunch of people with adult diapers and just.
Ryan Lemond
They're just peeing all over themselves.
Drew Franklin
You gotta think about that. They lined up at 5am for an event that's almost an entire day away and they can't move.
Matt Jones
Yeah, I don't.
Drew Franklin
I mean, you gotta. You gotta pee somewhere.
Matt Jones
All right. I can't.
Ryan Lemond
I gotta pee in a cup. Pour it on the ground. I'm gonna pee on myself.
Matt Jones
All right. I know you guys are. People are trying to eat here first.
Drew Franklin
We're just telling you about the news.
Matt Jones
All right. Yesterday, I did something I've never done in my entire life.
Ryan Lemond
What was that?
Matt Jones
I went to an ihop. Oh. I'd never been to an IHOP before.
Ryan Lemond
Fresh and fruity.
Matt Jones
Yeah. So I got off the exit, it was in right outside of Columbus, and I was like, where are you gonna eat? And, you know, there were a few. But last stuff was closed. A lot of people close on New Year's Day, so a lot of stuff was closed. And I said, you know what? Never been to an ihop. Don't know what it's like, sure. Why not go in there?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Not my thing. Like, but I. But I went and I feel like I've experienced it. And it was, you know, they got like, pancakes that are. You know, they had Oreo pancakes. Who is eating Oreo pancakes?
Ryan Lemond
Me. You're yum. Yeah.
Matt Jones
It's gotta be awful for you, isn't it?
Ryan Lemond
Probably that's why I'm gonna eat it. So did you go the breakfast route or the lunch route?
Matt Jones
It was like 11 o'clock. You could get either. I got a waffle. Wasn't great.
Drew Franklin
But they are the house of Pancakes.
Matt Jones
I know, but I. I thought if you do pancakes, you can do waffles. Like you could do the same thing. I wasn't it, but I did go and I was thinking to myself that may be the last major chain of restaurants that I can think of that I have never been in.
Ryan Lemond
Really?
Matt Jones
Can you think of a major chain of restaurants where there are multiple locations all over the country and you've never been in any of them? I'd never been in an ihop, but I think I've been to every other chain of food around. Is there one that you could think of? You haven't?
Ryan Lemond
No, I don't think so. Because we stopped. Didn't we stop at a Whataburger and we were on the way in to Los Angeles that one year.
Matt Jones
Yeah, but that stuff out there, I mean stuff regional that you could. That you've never been to that you think you just never have found yourself in.
Ryan Lemond
I've never been to a Sir Pizza.
Matt Jones
Right here. It's right there.
Ryan Lemond
Never. Never.
Matt Jones
I mean, it's right there. You've never thought like it's right there. Let me try it.
Ryan Lemond
Nope. Never. Have never. Not one time.
Matt Jones
Well, maybe one day they'll bring you one.
Ryan Lemond
What's the other like the cousin to Waffle House? It's waffle something. I don't think I've been to a Huddle House.
Matt Jones
You know, our partner at KS Bar owns like seven of them. Yes. And you've never, if you've ever tried to thought about anyone.
Ryan Lemond
We go to Western Kentucky. Let's go to one of his huddle houses.
Matt Jones
All right. Well, there you go. Who's up next? You. None for you, I'm sure.
Drew Franklin
Actually, I don't know that I've been to an ihop, but I think I've hit most. I'm a big restaurant guy. I try to try everything.
Matt Jones
Yeah, well, you can skip maybe Jack.
Drew Franklin
In the Box, even though that's regional. I don't know that I've been to one of those.
Matt Jones
What's next?
Ryan Lemond
Jerry?
Matt Jones
Jerry. Go ahead, Jerry.
Caller
Hey, Matt. Talk about next year for football. It. You know, the more you read these like wait. Truly predictions that are looking at the transfer class and stuff, they're not real person Kentucky. And you look at schedule like you say you look at schedule next year probably the only teams are going to be not going to be better this year. The next they were this year are Tennessee and Ole Miss. Everybody else is probably going to be at least as good, if not better.
Matt Jones
I agree with you, Jerry. I mean, the transfer class doesn't look great. But then Jerry, I would say to you, they've been, they praised our transfer class last year and it didn't do anything. So I, I sometimes wonder with the transfers if they even really know.
Caller
Well and the other thing is, you know, like we're saying is that, you know, they did, they didn't change any of the offensive coaching. My gut feeling is that we're going to be marginally better if not the same on offense and defense back should be worse because you've lost all these good players. So I, I, you know, it sounded like three and nine, Matt.
Matt Jones
I mean, I, I, it's, I mean that's certainly plausible. I, I, you know, I appreciate the call. It's certainly plausible. There's a world in which we come back next year and we're the same and maybe the same makes you go three and nine this year. I mean that's, that, that is plausible. And Stoops won't survive that if it is. But there comes a point, I will say one thing. I do think the people that every single piece of football news, their response is fire. Stoops, what are, what are you even trying to accomplish right now? Like, he's coming back. So, like now that he's coming back, we need to hope he does well. And if he doesn't do well, then I'll be one of the people leading the way next year going, we need a change. But I made the analogy online and this is my analogy. We right now with football are where we were with Cal after St. Peters. All right? After St. Peter's we were like, oh, is this going in the right direction? And there was a lot of troubling signs and there were some people who wanted to change. But I was of the belief after St. Peter's look, this goes had a lot of success here. Let's give him a chance to turn it around. It didn't work out. A lot of the troubling stuff we saw after St. Peter's ended up being what ended his time here at Kentucky. That might be what happens with Stoops. We'll see. But I kind of feel like there are people who act like we are where we were after Oakland. I don't think we're there. He's had one really bad year I think it's more St. Peter's Ryan, where it's like the signs are there. You better change. Cal didn't change. We'll see if Stoops can.
Ryan Lemond
So what do you think to the people that give you the argument? Well, even the year before, two years ago, it was disappointing. They just kind of saved it by beating Louisville at the end of the year.
Matt Jones
Fair point. But what was the year before St. Peter's anybody remember we went 9 and 16 and missed the tournament. Right.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
I mean, we were. We were worse, much worse the year before St. Peter's so, you know, look, whether you think he should be gone or not, he's gonna be here. So I don't really know what we accomplished by just saying, should have fired him. Okay, fine. But, Drew, he's here, so we might as well hope it works.
Drew Franklin
Yeah. And I think I said this about Cal last year. I'm going into next year. This is the last year. Even if he has an amazing year. I just feel like we're kind of at the end, whatever he does. And I don't think it's going to be a good year. But when they kick it off next September against Toledo, I'm going to be following that whole season as if it's the last. Whether he's winning games or losing, I just think it's kind of a.
Matt Jones
But you're going to be pulling for him to win?
Drew Franklin
Yes, I'll be pulling for. To win. Just like I was for Cal last year. But I watched last season. I said this on the radio before they played a game. This feels like the last ride. And I feel that was stoops. Whatever it looks like, I feel like.
Matt Jones
This is the last wave. Whether that wave is one year or two or three, I think remains to be seen. But I do think we are nearing the end. And the question, Ryan, is just how's the end going to go?
Ryan Lemond
So you've talked to him. Do you feel like he's got that fire back a little bit? That maybe he'll be able to turn it around?
Matt Jones
All right, so let me give the case if you want to feel. Look, the case for being pessimistic is obvious, right? We stunk last year. The guys from the Portal are from Mac schools. Is that going to work? Our quarterback? We don't know about them. The case for being negative is obvious if you want to have a case for being positive. And again, let's compare it to Cal. If you were to talk to Cal After St. Peter's he didn't think anything was wrong. He thought, I'm doing it the right way. I know what to do. Everybody shut up. We got. It was a weird loss. That's the way it goes. Mark Stoops, in my opinion, knows he screwed up now. I'm speaking for him now, but he's going to come in here at some point and speak for himself, and then he'll get to say it or not. If Mark Stoops goes into next year the way Cal went into the post St. Peter's year and does the same stuff, then we're gonna lose and he will be gone. If he changes the culture, if he changes the way this program is run back to the way it was before, maybe he has a shot. We'll see.
Ryan Lemond
So what's your feeling? Has he been. Has he got the mindset he's gonna.
Matt Jones
I think he has the mentality, but sometimes you can have the mentality and you may or may not succeed. You know, we lost. We lost most of our. I mean, we're starting over next year.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Like, not just the transfer. We had a ton of dudes graduate. Like, a ton of dudes graduate. Like, we're starting over. How many starters are returning from last year? Like, think about it. Look at the offensive offense. How many dudes are going to start that started last year? Anybody?
Ryan Lemond
Wilcox just. He started that one or two games.
Matt Jones
But he didn't start.
Drew Franklin
He wasn't even a starter. He started it.
Matt Jones
So Wilcox. All right. How many dudes on defense are going to start that started last year?
Drew Franklin
A cornerback. Hardaway, you, some of your safeties.
Ryan Lemond
Jordan Lovett, Ty Brown.
Matt Jones
Jordan Lovett. I mean, he just got in trouble. I mean, I. I don't know.
Drew Franklin
I think we're going back to also running the damn ball. Y'all get ready. One, there's not many receivers on this roster right now, and I do think he got a good get out in Nebraska with Dowdell to put with Wilcox. Redid the line. I think Stoops is gonna hand it off the whole year. Go back to what they used to.
Matt Jones
Do with the root. When the relief valve on your water heater fails, pouring gallons of water in your basement, you need to call servpro. What if you have an electric shortage in your office? What if you have a musty odor that indicates you might have a mold problem? ServPro. Go to ServPro1,800, ServPro. S e r v p r o dot com. Make it like it never even happened with ServPro. Hope you don't need them. But if you do, call servpro franchises, independently owned and operated. We'll take a break. Come back. Final segment KSR welcome back. It is final segment KSR 859-280-2287 here at the KS Bar and Grill. Come on out and thank you very much and join us. Have, have lunch and or dinner here this evening. Ryan, we, we, I had a couple people right here. One person writes, I think Ryan would be the best doordash driver. But my question is, does he talk to people? Do you have you make conversation when.
Ryan Lemond
You walk up to the door, 98% of the time they, you just leave it at their door. You know, they leave you instructions.
Matt Jones
Would you enjoy talking to people?
Ryan Lemond
Probably not, no. I want to get in, get out.
Matt Jones
But you're friendly, though. I feel like you'd want to have a conversation.
Ryan Lemond
I talked to the people at the restaurants. When I pick up the food, you know, hey, have a good day, Merry Christmas, happy holidays.
Matt Jones
What's the place that what's the place that you tend to pick up from the most?
Ryan Lemond
Well, this door dash store is a lot pizza places. Papa John's Pizza. That's a lot.
Matt Jones
By the way, can I give a restaurant that I think people should go to in Lexington more than they go to.
Drew Franklin
Oh, let's hear it. Big restaurant guy.
Matt Jones
So I was looking, there's this guy, he has a million followers. He's like a food guy on TikTok. His name is like, I don't know, Food Head or something. I mean, it is something like that. I'm not, I'm literally his name's like Food Head or Food Face or something. But he's like national, but he lives in Kentucky. And he seems like a nice fella. I don't know how he got a big following because he just seems like a regular guy being like, hey, I like food. Right? And he ranked his five best restaurants in Kentucky in 2024.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
Like, all over the state. And a lot of them were like, in small towns. I think the winner was, well, I can't remember, but there was one in Hodginville. There was one in E Town, but he had one in Lexington on it, number two. And I've been there. And every time I go, there's like no one there, which makes me wonder how it stays in business. But it's really good. It's called Hola Havana and it's out off Richmond Road, like, close to Man O War. It's in like one of those little shopping centers. You know where it is right Mario, I've been there a bunch. I've been there, like, on Friday night, and I'd be, like, the only person there. And I've wondered, like, it's Cuban food, and it's really, really good. And I'm like, how come? And this dude ranked it the number two restaurant in the whole state.
Ryan Lemond
Really?
Matt Jones
And I was like, finally. I thought I was the only person that ever went to this place. And I was like, how does nobody go here? Hola. Havana out off Richmond Road.
Ryan Lemond
You know, I've lived in this town for 28 years and didn't know this place.
Matt Jones
Like, right. If you were going down Richmond Road before you get to man of War, you know, you. You The f. The last left before you get to man of War, you go down there. There's like a shopping center right there. And there might be, like, a Kmart to the right. Kroger.
Ryan Lemond
A Kroger there.
Matt Jones
That's. It's in that. It's in that shopping center to the left.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
Where there's, like a Subway and maybe an ice cream place or something like that.
Drew Franklin
Yes, the old movie tavern back there.
Matt Jones
So anyway, really, I don't know what made me want to say that, but that dude picked it. Number two. It was the only restaurant he had in Lexington on his list.
Ryan Lemond
I want to see the other restaurants, the top five, and we can try to hit them at one point.
Matt Jones
Yeah.
Drew Franklin
What's the one in Louisville? That's it. Because I was always mad we didn't have.
Matt Jones
There's a ton of them. Havana Rumba.
Drew Franklin
So this is, I think, just right there.
Matt Jones
Did you know Louisville again? I don't know why I've been getting off on this, but did you know Louisville has the second largest Cuban community. Third largest Cuban community in America behind Miami and New York?
Ryan Lemond
What's the connection?
Matt Jones
I don't know, but there's. But we. We. We apparently have an absolutely massive Cuban community in Louisville. And there's a lot. And now that I think about, there's a lot of Cuban restaurants in Louisville. Maybe that's why there's several locations that.
Drew Franklin
Havana, the one you mentioned here in Lexington, is only a few years old, but I've heard great reviews from it, too, so.
Matt Jones
All right, who's next? Rick. Rick. Go ahead, Rick.
Caller
How you doing today, Matt?
Matt Jones
Good.
Caller
I was calling you about the football. I mean, I keep one here in the. You know, the 25, 30 million dollars for the nil 22 that the university is gonna. 22 million. But the. The players can get ni. Money from anywhere else too. Correct.
Matt Jones
They can. But now the NCAA can say it's got to be real nil and not pay to play. At least they can enforce it. Well, they do. We'll wait and see. See.
Caller
Well, I, I keep on, you know, I, I got upset when Stoops made the remark about pony up. I'm sure everybody else did.
Matt Jones
We got just 20 seconds. Real quick.
Caller
The, the point I'm trying to make is I, I can't. I'm hearing that Texas, you know, I'm at money is, is over $700 million.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Well, you're, that's not true. It's not $700 million. Their endowment is that much, but that's not their nil. I appreciate the call. Nil will still be an issue, but it's going to be better.
