Nmlsconsumeraccess.Org welcome to hour two of Kentucky Sports Radio presented by Stockton Mortgage. Now here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Welcome back. Hour number two, Kentucky Sports Radio 859-280-2287 Text Machine 772-7745254 Somebody wrote me and said this is the first time Ford in Louisville Ryan has been closed since 9 11.
Ryan Lemond
Wow.
Matt Jones
Is that in that amazing?
Ryan Lemond
It is amazing.
Matt Jones
I mean that's. I mean it's still. It's still coming down like right now. Shannon, I guess you can't see it, right?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Matt Jones
In that building with no.
Shannon The Dude
No windows, no anything.
Ryan Lemond
I think the snow is gonna stop, but then the temperature just drops the next couple days.
Matt Jones
Well, it's still snowing right now.
Shannon The Dude
So should I just take up permanent residence at 4th Street Live?
Matt Jones
You may have to stay another night. Yeah, I mean I. What? All right, so now I'm worried about the restaurant thing because if Ford is closed and no one is writing me saying they know of a restaurant open.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Matt Jones
So do you think that woman has more vegetables?
Shannon The Dude
I was going to ask you. You know, usually when you make vegetable soup, you make a huge pot. Maybe there's some leftovers you can warm up.
Matt Jones
She gave me the excess the first time. So. So. So I don't really know exactly what I'm going to do, but, you know, that's. All right, quickly. Is another guy that should have been on my shooter list.
Ryan Lemond
Yes. Yeah. Well, there's been some great ones over the years, but this guy may top every single one of them.
Matt Jones
He got a chance. All right, so a couple things here. Let's start with. On the post game show, did you HEAR Ryan, Hal McCoy call in?
Ryan Lemond
I heard every second of it, and I can't wait to talk to you about this.
Matt Jones
All right, so, you know, I saw Shannon at OVW Saturday, and I told him about it. It's such a me thing to have. It is.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah.
Matt Jones
First of all, I blame Bob in Jamestown.
Ryan Lemond
No, no, no. There's no blaming Bob.
Matt Jones
It's Bob in Jamestown. No, it's because normally, like, it was the fact that he said it that made me give that reaction.
Shannon The Dude
The Bob's waiting on the line. If you want to, like, hash it out with him right now, go ahead.
Matt Jones
And put Bob on. But Bob. Don't start talking yet.
Shannon The Dude
Just.
Matt Jones
Just go ahead and put Bob on. Okay, so Bob comes on and he says, there's all kinds of celebrities at the game. And I ask him what celebrities? And he says, richie Farmer. Who? Shannon's at every game. Right?
Shannon The Dude
Okay.
Ryan Lemond
He's still a celebrity.
Matt Jones
He is, but he's at every game. And then he says, Hal McCoy. Now, freely admit I didn't know who Hal McCoy was. And so I said, who's Hal McCoy? And Shannon, he goes, he's a writer for the Dayton newspaper.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, it doesn't scream celebrity.
Matt Jones
Exactly. And it was. The second person Bob said was Hal McCoy. So I'm like, how McCoy? And you know what I mean, those of you haven't heard it. You know what I do in that circumstance? Like, I'm like, how McCoy? And then the fact it was Bob and Jamestown, I was like, bob, what are you talking about? Fast forward to the show. We learn that he has covered the Reds for 50 some years. And then I read on Wikipedia that he had a stroke in, like 2004, went blind, and kept covering the team. Now, you know me, Ryan, at that point, I think that's an awesome story.
Ryan Lemond
That'S a great story in it.
Matt Jones
That's a great story in and of itself. So I was like, okay, that's a great story. So even though I don't know that he's the second biggest celebrity, that's still a great story. So I'm like, that's cool. And then 10 minutes later, Billy goes. Hal McCoy is on the phone. You know, are you kidding me? Like you're kidding me, kidding me. And apparently he was sitting in the car listening during the conversation because his friend took it. Now, with that said, it set up one of the cooler moments we've had on this show in a long time.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
Get to talk to the guy, Shannon. He created the term big red machine.
Shannon The Dude
How about that? I never knew where that came from.
Matt Jones
I had no idea. What a cool thing. He's in the baseball. He's in the hall of Fame. Like, he's in the hall of fame. He still. Still covers the team. 55 years covering the team. All right. That's awesome. So then I get his phone number. I'm going to try to meet him at a game this year at a Reds game. So it ends up being very cool. But of course, stupid me sticks my foot in my mouth going, how McCoy and how McCoy is listening to the show. So I am going to apologize to Hal McCoy, although I think Hal and I are good because we had a good conversation. But I was mostly mad at Bob for just doing.
Ryan Lemond
No, no, no, no, no. Not Bob's fault.
Matt Jones
I. So Bob is on the phone. So, Bob, you. Yeah, I want to blame you. I mean, I don't know that there's a way to blame you, but I do feel like it's your fault, Bob, that. That happened. Matt, I know all kinds of people. Anyway, see, here we go. Shannon, this is what gets me. He comes in. I know all kinds of people.
Shannon The Dude
He knows how.
Matt Jones
Anyway, anyway, you remember that Twilight zone episode? You know what I mean? Like, I'm giving him a chance to have, like, a. Like something cool happened that he set up. And, Shannon, he's talking about the Twilight zone. We're out right in the middle of a winter storm, and this is what you need, Matt. MREs. Have you ever had one? I'm not meal ready to eat vehicles. Our army army meals in my house. Isn't that what that is? Oh, they're delicious. They. Yeah, they're meals ready to eat. They are delicious. They're what you need. Anyway, if you. You remember Sally Denton's book Bluegrass Conspiracy? I mean. Yes, yes. Okay, well, all that 40 years later. Now, Ben Bradlee, one of the characters in that book, his niece is. Has written a book. So see, this is what I'm saying. I appreciate the call. This is what I'm saying. Like, this is why the how McCoy thing happens. You know, we just beat Florida. I bring him on to talk about how McCoy and he's talking about MREs and Sally. You know what I mean? Shannon? Like, you see, this is why that happened.
Shannon The Dude
Bob just has a way of just getting you riled up. And I think that's why you took it out on Hal McCoy.
Matt Jones
I think that's what happened how McCoy. I just didn't know who Hal McCoy was, but he did create. So I do thank Bob for that. Ryan. He did create a cool moment on the show.
Ryan Lemond
I was listening. And I now know what you feel like when I say something that I don't know who the Supreme Court justice is or whatever and you're a little embarrassed.
Matt Jones
You say you don't know who John Roberts is. He's not listening at that moment, Shan.
Shannon The Dude
He might be. You never know who's listening.
Ryan Lemond
That's what was so cool about it, that when all this thing about how McCoy, next thing you know, he's on the line because how McCoy's a big deal and he was on the show. And then that led to a segment that I think was, like you said, one of the best segments you've had on the post a long time.
Matt Jones
Like, I didn't know who he was. That's my fault. But I'm a recent Reds fan. I mean, I was a Braves fan for many, many years. I didn't watch the Reds or listen to him. How I didn't know who he was. All right, let's talk about Cal Perry for just a second. And I. And the guy who doesn't like it, sorry. Loses to Tennessee by. Was the final score. Was it 83 points? Is that how much they lost by Shannon?
Shannon The Dude
Something like that.
Matt Jones
Points maybe something he does the Postgate press conference. And of course, in classic Cal style. I mean you all. It was the greatest hits. You could have listened. You could have heard of every. You've heard everything he's ever said. But he then said his biggest regret was he didn't do the shoot around because it was noon their time. And he didn't think that was. He let. And he said he regretted it. So everyone around the country is like, what? You didn't have a shoot around on the road against the number one team in America? Like, maybe Shannon, you should do that.
Shannon The Dude
You would think so. Especially on the road.
Matt Jones
On the road. Maybe then someone uncovers he did the same thing two years ago against Tennessee.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
The exact same thing. And he gave the exact same post game remarks saying, I don't know why I didn't have a shoot around. It was two years ago. Does anybody remember what that game was? That was the I've got to go home and see my dog's game. It was the SEC tournament in Tampa. That was the I gotta go home and see my dogs.
Shannon The Dude
He's checked out at that point. Is he already checked out at Arkansas, though?
Matt Jones
That's my question. He's only 14 games in the season. Is he already done? Like he was wearing a tablecloth as a jacket like Ryan. What did you think of that? Is he. I mean, is he just already. Is it. Is it over?
Ryan Lemond
It's embarrassing. It's coaching malpractice. That you don't prepare your team to go on the road and play the number one team in the country on their home floor. That's just coaching malpractice. That's just not doing your job.
Matt Jones
And it was something about the back to back of us playing and then them switching over to that and then.
Ryan Lemond
Seeing Tennessee just run them off the floor.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. Mark Pope, who scheduled practice early in the morning to get ready for that game and show us the detail that he goes into versus couch.
Matt Jones
Practice. Practice. Mark Pope on Thursday, or excuse me, on Wednesday and Thursday, changed the time of practice so their bodies would be used to. To the game time on Saturday, Cal was like, we got waffles to eat. No reason to go shoot around. That's crazy. It's absolutely crazy.
Ryan Lemond
That's where his assistant coaches need to step up and like, tell him, you got to do this.
Matt Jones
Coaches, a lot of them are probably.
Ryan Lemond
Still in bed and they're so. They. They're afraid of him. They're afraid to say anything to him.
Matt Jones
Of course they are. I. We scored Shannon more points in both halves than they scored in the game.
Shannon The Dude
That is insane. Unbelievable.
Matt Jones
Points in the first and second half than they scored in the game.
Ryan Lemond
That's crazy. What a stat.
Matt Jones
Unbelievable. So, I mean, I'm not trying to look, I'm trying to pick on the guy, but that was outside of our win against Georgia. The biggest story in college basketball Saturday was that were those comments. And he did it two years ago against the same team.
Ryan Lemond
Didn't learn his lesson the first time, did he?
Matt Jones
Absolutely crazy. All right, who's next?
Shannon The Dude
Let's go to Deanna.
Matt Jones
Deanna, how are you? Deanna. Hi. I am good. I'm never been on the show before. I usually express my thoughts to myself in the car. Well, no, I want your thoughts, Deanna. Oh, I don't know. I talk a lot. But anyways, I'll keep it short. You know, I said I live in Ohio now and I get so irritated because the crowd will be like dead quiet and then they want to go off on why the guys have had a bad game. You know, the guys are going to have a good game or they're going to have a bad game. But I think what helps determine what type of game and what type of energy they bring based is based on the crowd. If we're up and down pretty. So two things. One, the crowd was awesome. The other thing is I think you have to be very careful when judging the crowd because. And I listen the crowd in years past has been a major issue. But I don't think we can hear on TV as loud as the crowd is in person. I just don't think we can hear. I think the way ESPN does their, does their microphones because back when we'd had games on cbs, Ryan, you could hear it, you could hear it more.
Ryan Lemond
So.
Matt Jones
And I just don't think they, for whatever reason, I just don't think it translates as well when it's on ESPN, the SEC Network, etc. I do get that. But when they go, have you ever seen them go on a run, 160 and everything and the crowd not like just be quiet. Saturday, when the fans get wild, the players get wild, the baskets fall. Yeah, but it's also, it's sort of like saying a comedian, if the crowd's laughing, it's better for the comedian. And that's true. But it's also the comedian's job to make the crowd laugh. Right. So it's a two way street. The crowd can be expected to scream when we're getting crushed. True. But I feel like our energy does affect theirs. Sure, I get that. I think I'm more jealous because I never get to make it to the games anymore. So I have to be an inspiration down there and then you, you can get that crowd going. Let's get you to a game. Nice. Thanks for listening. I appreciate it. Thank you. Have a good day. Start the new year in a brand new home from Bluegrass Home center. Don't wait. It's KSR. Welcome back. It is Kentucky Sports Radio, 859-280-2287. Text Machine, 772-774-5254. One person writes. Matt, were you upset that your guy Ron DeSantis was at the game? Well, no, not at all. I mean, he's the governor of Florida. We're playing Florida. So, I mean, if Andy Beshear were to go to the game at Florida, he should, you know, so if he wants. So now, I mean, I would. I was okay with it. I said, you know, he was sitting right next to UK bench Shannon. I don't know if I would have put him right there.
Shannon The Dude
You got really good seats. Yeah, well, it's what happens when you're the governor, though.
Matt Jones
You probably get pretty good seats. So. No, I mean, we should be, you know, we should be happy when, when people come to games. Now, that doesn't mean I'm a fan of his, but, like, he's the governor of Florida playing Florida. Now, here's my problem, though, with him, and this is now also, apparently, Ryan, a problem I now have with Andy Beshear. Why do these governors have to put their name on their jacket?
Shannon The Dude
Okay, that's your problem.
Matt Jones
That's my problem. All right? They all wear jackets that say their name on the front. So. So Ron DeSantis jacket, if you look at the game, it says, Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida. Why? Why are you doing that? All right, so then I made fun of it on the post game show. And then yesterday during his snow report, Andy Beshear had a pullover on that said Andy Beshear, governor of Kentucky. Why are they doing that, Shannon? Why?
Shannon The Dude
Just so everybody knows who they are, I guess.
Matt Jones
I don't need. Of course, why we don't. Nobody else does that. Like, why are you putting your name on your jacket?
Shannon The Dude
Reminds me of like a high school Letterman jacket or something. Has your name on it.
Matt Jones
You're the governor. Like, clearly, if I'm watching TV and Andy's given the snow report and the governor seals behind him, I don't need him to have a jacket on that says I'm the governor. Don't you think that's light? And these, like, DeSantis did it, and then Bashir did, so they're both doing it.
Shannon The Dude
It's kind of like their jersey, you know?
Matt Jones
But why don't you think that's a little lame? Like, if you walk around with something that says your name on it in, like, a monogram, isn't that weird?
Ryan Lemond
Do you think all the governors got together? They got their own private little club, and they got these private little jackets they can go to?
Matt Jones
I mean, I know Trump does that, but he's his own level of weird. But you don't see. I mean, do you just. Maybe I'm wrong, but does Joe Biden and George Bush. Did they walk around with shirts that said my name? Like, you know their name? Because that's who they are.
Shannon The Dude
I'm not sure. I doubt they did, but it feels like, yeah, I've seen a couple of governors that. And they all have that.
Matt Jones
Chris Christie did it. We made fun of it many years ago. Then someone made me a jacket that said, matt Jones, radio host.
Shannon The Dude
You didn't wear it.
Matt Jones
But I thought Chris Christie was the only one. But is this just a thing? When you become governor, do they just send you something with your name on it?
Ryan Lemond
Yep. You get in the governor's club, so you get a free jacket with your name on it.
Matt Jones
I don't know. I don't know why it bothers me so much, Shane, but why? Like, no one else in life walks around with their name on their shirt.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, well, they're not a governor.
Matt Jones
I mean, I'll say the same thing to Craig. If I see Craig walk around, says, Craig Greenberg, Mayor of.
Shannon The Dude
I'll bet you he's got one.
Ryan Lemond
I bet he does, too.
Matt Jones
Well, don't wear it.
Shannon The Dude
He's your friend. You tell him.
Matt Jones
I just don't like it. I don't know what it is. And here I went on to say it this. And then Bashir does it the next day, exact same thing.
Shannon The Dude
All right, I lost my call screener here. I can't. Stupid thing.
Matt Jones
What do you mean you lost?
Shannon The Dude
Like, I was connected to the computer and it just disconnected.
Matt Jones
You can just put somebody on.
Shannon The Dude
I can't. I can't even see who's on. I don't even know.
Matt Jones
Who cares. We'll just.
Shannon The Dude
I can't. I. I got to be able to click the thing. I don't have an actual phone here anymore.
Matt Jones
Oh, so you have no way of clicking on the phone?
Shannon The Dude
No. No, I don't.
Matt Jones
Huh. Well, that's good. Glad to see.
Shannon The Dude
Hang on. I got it now. Let's go. Let's Go, Joe.
Matt Jones
Joe. Go ahead, Joe. Hey, how you guys doing? You know, the whole Caliperi thing and not prepping for the number one team in the nation.
Ryan Lemond
I'm glad y'all addressed it, but I.
Matt Jones
Want to be happy about where Kentucky.
Ryan Lemond
Is culture wise, because I think that's the most important thing.
Matt Jones
You got Jackson Robinson showing up at the end of the game to get more shots up after they just won a huge game.
Ryan Lemond
Like, that's insane.
Matt Jones
You got Tennessee players sleeping in, not.
Ryan Lemond
Showing up for a walk around or.
Matt Jones
A non scheduled walk around. No, you're. Listen, Jackson Robinson. People don't know. When the game was over and Pope was still doing his postgame press conference, Jackson Robinson came out and was shooting with an assistant coach on the floor.
Ryan Lemond
Yes, sir.
Matt Jones
And part of the reason he was doing it, they said later, is, you know, they don't get a ton of chances to shoot on that floor. They practice in a different gym. So he wanted to. To shoot. But you're exactly right. This team, the prep they put in, you know, we talked about back when they used the different balls for the Champions Classic, and then, you know, they scheduled their practices around an early morning game. The level of preparation this group does. You're exactly right, sir. I mean, it's. It's kind of what's. What you should do, but it's also awesome. 100%. Couldn't be happier about where we're at.
Ryan Lemond
With our coach and glad to leave.
Matt Jones
Whatever we left in the rearview mirror.
Shannon The Dude
So go Big Blue.
Matt Jones
Appreciate the call. A lot of people. Ryan stayed after the game for that post game press conference. I mean, he, you know, he. I can always tell when they have a big crowd for the post game because we get two waves at the bar. We get the immediately wave and then the after post press conference wave. And they had, I mean, they had that entire side of the lower arena full for that.
Ryan Lemond
You know, Cal started it and it became an event.
Matt Jones
No, Rick started it all. Did.
Ryan Lemond
I don't remember Rick doing that with the crowd.
Matt Jones
Yeah, Rick did. Rick did it with. With K. Wood. Right. I think I'm right about that.
Ryan Lemond
You may be right about it. Yeah.
Matt Jones
I think Rick's. I think Rick started it. Now, there may have been a period of time that it stopped. I don't know. But I, I am. I would bet somebody can tell me on the text machine if I'm right. But I'm pretty sure Rick started that. But go ahead.
Ryan Lemond
And then it became more of an event with Cal. It's even more so now. With Pope, man, people coming around after the game. They want us to be a part of that. And like you said, you got to see Jackson Robinson shoot around. You got to see Kobe Braya walk around carrying a baby. I mean, you got.
Matt Jones
How did he end up with a baby? He was just walking around. Shannon with a baby. Was that somebody.
Ryan Lemond
And I don't know if this is true. Somebody said they thought it was some. A member of his family.
Matt Jones
No, because someone wrote online and said, that's my baby.
Ryan Lemond
Okay.
Matt Jones
Tagged me in a picture that said, that's my baby.
Ryan Lemond
So what, he just hand the baby off to Kobe Bray to walk around?
Matt Jones
Ask you a question. Why do people say they didn't want to hand strangers baby? People are always trying to.
Shannon The Dude
They're like, this thing's been crying all day. You take care of it for a few minutes. Give me a break.
Matt Jones
Like, I like people. I'll take pictures with anybody. I'll take pictures with you. You know, I mean, I have people. Sometimes she'll be like, here, take a picture with my wife. And I think that's kind of, like, an odd thing to say, but I'll do it right. But when people want to hand me babies, why do they want to do that?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. You don't even know the baby wants the picture.
Matt Jones
I'm sure it doesn't even. You think the baby knows.
Shannon The Dude
Baby doesn't care.
Matt Jones
But also, like, I am proven to not know how to hold a baby, right? So, like, they just had to. Somebody just walk up to Kobe Brayan, say, here, Kobe, take my baby.
Ryan Lemond
I don't know. I'd like to know how that all played out.
Matt Jones
It's just. Is that not a strange thing to do? It is my baby.
Shannon The Dude
It's a big responsibility, too. If you drop the baby.
Matt Jones
If I. If I drop it, you ain't gonna be happy with me.
Shannon The Dude
No.
Ryan Lemond
He walked the length of the court with it, too. It's not like he just held it for a minute. He walked around with it.
Matt Jones
Yeah. And so clearly, he was fine with it. I just. I'll take Shane. I just want to be. I'll take a picture with your baby, but don't hand it to me.
Shannon The Dude
You hold it.
Matt Jones
I don't. I don't know if I don't want to drop it, and, like, I don't know where I'm supposed to go with it. So just, like, you hold it, and then I'll get in the picture. But Kobe Brayer was walking around like he was.
Shannon The Dude
He was burping it, and he was Changing his diaper mother. Yeah.
Matt Jones
I wonder if he was like, being that if he was the adoptee or adopted the Godfather. Yeah. So it just goes to show, this is a very family atmosphere as a team. We'll take a break. Barry backs ksr. TJ Smith, personal injury attorney. Call tj. He'll make him pay.
Shannon The Dude
Now more of Kentucky Sports Radio, presented by Stockton Morgan. Here's Matt Jones.
Matt Jones
Still snowing, Shannon, is it up? Well, yeah, I mean, we got. It's. It's tapered down a little bit, but it's still coming down. Maybe we'll never get over this. I'm not sure. So, see, people are sending me pictures. I guess the presidents do it too. And it looks like Craig one time had it on there.
Ryan Lemond
He did do it one time.
Matt Jones
Not doing it right now, but he. That somebody sent me a picture with him. I did. So they must just give it out, right? Like, they must just. You just get in and they put your. The presidential seal, I think I like. Right? Like, I'd like to see Bashir with like the seal of Kentucky on it. I just don't think he needs, like, monogrammed. I'm Andy Bashir. Look at me.
Shannon The Dude
Maybe that seals on the back. I don't know. I haven't seen the entire jacket.
Matt Jones
The seals I like. Yeah, because, because, because, you know, the president of the United States seal or the Kentucky seal I like, but the name, it just looks like something you'd get, you know, with Myrtle beach or something. WWE Raw starts tonight on Netflix. Shannon, I know no one cares but me and you. Yeah, but it's a new era. Monday Night Raw live on Netflix. They're bringing apparently everyone back tonight. So, like the Rock, Austin Hogan, everyone's on it tonight. Are you gonna watch?
Shannon The Dude
Yeah. You got a Netflix login I can use? I don't have Netflix, but I will find a way to watch Netflix. I don't know.
Matt Jones
When did you get rid of it?
Shannon The Dude
I don't know if I ever had it or. I was probably using my buddies login.
Matt Jones
Well, you watched Wrestlers clearly.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, that's right. Yeah, Yeah, I had my. My friends login.
Matt Jones
So you've never had Netflix?
Shannon The Dude
No.
Matt Jones
Ever?
Shannon The Dude
No. Really don't need it. Unless Wrestlers has a season two watch.
Matt Jones
Like, I know you watch Tiger King and some of that stuff because we talked about Squid Game. Like, how do you watch it?
Shannon The Dude
We don't need to talk about that. Just, just, just accepted the fact that I'm not stealing anything. It's there.
Matt Jones
What do you mean it's there?
Shannon The Dude
It's just. It's just on my tv. It's there.
Matt Jones
So Louisville Media Box is what you're talking about.
Shannon The Dude
You said that, not me.
Matt Jones
I like how you were once one of the. You were once the biggest advocate for this, and now you act like it's a secret society.
Shannon The Dude
It kind of is. Yeah. Local Media Box has it, so. Yeah.
Matt Jones
So you are going to watch?
Shannon The Dude
I will be watching. I'm looking forward to it. I don't know if they'll change, you know, the. The rating on it now that it's on Netflix, but, you know, I don't know, for the last, what, 32 years it's been on USA.
Matt Jones
Yeah. It'd be interesting to see if it changes the popularity. Like, you know, now it's on all over the world, but at the same time, not. It's not on regular television. So there'll be a lot of people who won't be able to watch it. Maybe for the first time ever.
Shannon The Dude
Netflix is stepping up their game with the Tyson fight. They had the NFL game on Christmas and now RAW every Monday night.
Matt Jones
Let me also give a shout out to SH Here we had our ov for those of you stuck in your house, the OVW Rumble was Saturday night. Shannon was really good.
Shannon The Dude
That was awesome.
Matt Jones
Objectively. It was really good. They put on a heck of a show. And Ryan. It ended in the ring. I don't want to give a spoiler for people who might want to watch, but it ended in the ring with two former WWE legends and Shannon the dude.
Shannon The Dude
In other words, three of them left three legends in the ring as we went off the air.
Matt Jones
I want you to think about, if you see the picture, two guys who wrestled in WWE for, like, probably 20 years, one of which was a. Was the champ and Shannon, the dude standing in the center of the ring.
Ryan Lemond
As it should be, should be the three guys that, you know. Three champions together. Yeah. Three champions together.
Matt Jones
Unbelievable. So, yeah, it's like. I think it's like eight or ten bucks if you want to. Want to watch it. Shannon is ridiculous, I have to say. I mean, he's abs. Shannon is absolutely.
Shannon The Dude
It was fun.
Matt Jones
Who's up?
Shannon The Dude
Randy.
Matt Jones
Randy. Go ahead, Randy.
Shannon The Dude
That's you. That's you, Randy.
Matt Jones
I will tell you, Saturday's crowd was phenomenal. I sat in section 22 roar, and it was just the most electric atmosphere that I think I can probably remember since maybe the Kansas game. And we lost. Even the Gonzaga game, and lost. But the crowd was great. And, you know, you look at our next. Let's see we got Alabama on a Saturday and the game was 11 o'clock. I said first time I've ever been to a game in refereeing at 11 o'clock. You know, play late games like that before, but never at 11 in the morning. And it was just a great win. Yeah. Let's talk about. I appreciate the call. Let's talk about our Saturday home games. Alright. So we play Saturday, January 18th against Alabama. We play Saturday, February 1st against Arkansas. These are just the games that rupp. Then we play February 8th against South Carolina. That game is at home. Our Tennessee game this year is actually during the week, unfortunately. Then we've got on the 22nd of February that's a road game at Alabama and then the 29th is Auburn or excuse me, March 1st is Auburn. So we will have Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn at home on a Saturday. The Tennessee game is during the week. But that Alabama, Arkansas and Auburn Saturday, Ryan. I mean think about how awesome they're going to be. It's going to be like that Florida game except maybe even more intense. Yeah.
Ryan Lemond
No disrespect to the caller called earlier about the crowd. It ruptured. She didn't think it was energetically went on the 16 to nothing run. I had those people tell me at KS Bar it was as good a crowd they've ever seen. The way they were reacting to the game on Saturday. Yeah, those that, that juggernaut of games coming up on Saturday. Don't you expect the crowd the exact.
Matt Jones
Same Saturday home games left this year. Three of them are going to be against top two of them are against top five teams. One of them is Arkansas with Cal and then one of them will be South Carolina, which isn't quite the same but still cool. Let. Let's talk about the next few games. All right. So they play at Georgia tomorrow night. That's tomorrow night. Like it's not far away at Georgia. Georgia is probably one of the three or four worst teams in the conference. They got run out of the gym in their first game. This is one of those games, Ryan, that you need to, you need to win. You could still lose it on the road, but you need to win this one. This is a road game that I think Kentucky needs to go steal.
Ryan Lemond
And as of right now, I just checked with Tom Leach. There's no travel issues with Kentucky. They're still scheduled. You know they're. Their, their flight is still scheduled on to be on time. No issues. So I was kind of worried about that. Yeah. Trying to fly out today.
Matt Jones
Yeah. Boy it's hard to see how people fly out right now.
Ryan Lemond
I agree, man. That's why I was worried about it.
Matt Jones
But I mean, maybe in Lexington it's not as bad as. I just don't see how anybody can fly out Louisville right now. But. But I guess so. The women's team, by the way, still in Nashville, they haven't been able to come home yet. And then the neck. And then Saturday is at Mississippi State. Now, Ryan, that's a hard game. Mississippi State's ranked set, like 18th or something. That's a game. That's a game. Honestly, I think Kentucky could lose. Mississippi State's physical, like, that's a losable game. Which is why I think Tuesday is so important. I think if you win Tuesday, if you win Saturday, that's even better. But you really. I think Tuesday is a big game for them tomorrow. Because I think that at Mississippi State, game on a Saturday night at 8:30. That place is going to be wild. This game, Tuesday's big.
Ryan Lemond
I, I think Mississippi State is really sneaky good. Like maybe even one of the dark horses in the conference. We talk about all the powerhouses, but this Mississippi State team is really, really good. And like you said, they play away. That causes Kentucky problems.
Matt Jones
And they're very well coached.
Ryan Lemond
Very well.
Matt Jones
Very well coached. It's a guy. What is his name? Chris Jans. Is that right?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, he's a. Shannon.
Matt Jones
The Dentist.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, the Dentist. He's a crisp beard disciple.
Matt Jones
Why do they call him the Dentist?
Shannon The Dude
Because playing his team is like going to the Dentist. How stupid that is, the word. Like, of all the nicknames, the Dentist. Could you imagine? You want to be called the Dentist?
Matt Jones
Why do you hate that one?
Shannon The Dude
So it's stupid. The Dentist.
Matt Jones
Who do you think gave him that name? Who do you think was like, we're going to call you the Dentist?
Shannon The Dude
I don't know.
Matt Jones
I want some coach to be like, call me the plumber.
Shannon The Dude
Son of a plumber.
Matt Jones
Unclog your team.
Shannon The Dude
You don't want to unclog your team. You want to clog your team.
Matt Jones
Well, then it's the opposite, I guess. This is a pretty terrible.
Shannon The Dude
It is awful.
Matt Jones
It is. It's a pretty terrible.
Shannon The Dude
I don't mind going to the Dentist.
Matt Jones
But we need Georgia. I mean, that's tomorrow night. It's right here. And we need to get the victory they've got. By the way, Georgia's got a dude. I think, Ryan, they got a dude as a top 10 projected pick. Did you know that?
Ryan Lemond
Didn't. Didn't know that.
Matt Jones
They have a freshman. I don't know his name, but he's. He's good. And he's projected top 10 in the draft, so. And I, I think he's a big guy, so just something to watch. Who's next?
Shannon The Dude
Let's go to Curtis.
Matt Jones
Curtis, go ahead, Curtis. Yeah. Hi, guys. This is my first time calling. I was at the game on Saturday and I, I like spot. It was the loudest crowd that, that, that I've seen in a long time. I've. I've went to nine games at. @ what? And they, they have never lost when I've been there. Nine and. Oh, well, we need to get you there for Arkansas on February 1st, so. The loudest crowd. Well, I appreciate it. I hope you had a good time, sir. Oh, yeah, I did. I got to meet. Meet Travis Ford and, and I got an autograph from. Well, that's. I mean, listen, Mark and I. I appreciate the call. Mark Pope's gonna be one of those people I think everybody's gonna like. He's got to be signing more autographs, Ryan, than anybody. I mean, I feel like he stays after game and signs for everyone.
Ryan Lemond
He's so gracious, too. You know, he makes conversation with you while, you know, he's asking about you and you're trying to get his autograph. That just don't make him. He's a special guy.
Matt Jones
He does do that. Like when I went to meet him, we, you know, we talked for probably an hour and probably 45 minutes of it. He was just talking, asking me about me, which, you know, not a lot of coaches would do that. You know what I mean? They usually will talk about them or there. And he, he's the opposite. He's just a genuinely very good guy. Stockton Mortgage. Tell me about it.
Ryan Lemond
Stockton Mortgage. You know, if you're thinking about buying a house this spring or summer, now's the time to go ahead and get that pre approval letter. Might as well go ahead and get started. You know, the interest rates are still a little high, but in the Even, even not much inventory. But there's a couple reports have come out already that think 2025, the housing markets going to turn around and me as a realtor, I sure hope so. So go to Stockton Mortgage. Stockton do MLS 8259. Equal housing lender.
Matt Jones
I was right about Patino starting the post game.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, I've been seeing a lot of those pictures and things.
Matt Jones
I remember that like it was a big thing. Especially early. There'd be like 10 or 11. There'd be like 10,000 people stay in.
Ryan Lemond
In those early years, counting Calum Pope or they. They. They usually got one side full, but looks like that one picture Patino, man. Half the lower bowl was full.
Matt Jones
Yeah. That first year he had. He had everybody there. All right, we'll take a break. Come back. Final segment, Kentucky sports Radio. That's right. Ice, ice, baby. That's where we got all over the place here today. 859280, 2287 Sex Machine. 772-7745254. They call Chris Jans the Dentist Shannon because he grinds out victories.
Shannon The Dude
Still a terrible name. Like of all. The Dentist.
Matt Jones
The Dentist. Stop it. I one piece of good news. Kentucky got a football commitment from the number two ranked defensive lineman in the Portal. That's pretty good, right?
Ryan Lemond
Yeah. That kind of came out of nowhere.
Matt Jones
Washington State.
Ryan Lemond
David State.
Matt Jones
What's his name? Gusta. Gust. I can't read my own handwriting. David something. But I'm not gonna act like I watch Washington State play. I think they play on the cw, which is not a station I watch for football a lot. But he's number two ranked in the Portal. We need defensive linemen. So, Ryan, I'll take it.
Ryan Lemond
Absolutely. Like, we've talked about a position of needs to get the edge rusher from usc and you get this guy from Washington State, you got to think that's going to fill the Keyshawn Silver, Dion Walker void that they left.
Matt Jones
I mean, we hope so. It's going to be so hard with this football team. Like, I mean, it's going to be like the basketball team this year. We're not going to know who any of these guys are. Are like any of them.
Ryan Lemond
I think it's going to be that just continue to be that way, man. They have to go to the Portal to stay competitive. So you got to get guys we've never heard of.
Matt Jones
We knew a lot of these dudes.
Ryan Lemond
Coming in on the defensive line. Yeah.
Matt Jones
And even, like, we knew our receivers and we knew our offensive line, we knew most of our guys last. This is going to be a completely new team.
Ryan Lemond
Yeah, it is completely new.
Matt Jones
So, you know, that's the way it goes. Who's next?
Shannon The Dude
Chase.
Matt Jones
Chase. Go ahead, Chase. Hey, I was just annoyed that you cut off Bob at Jamestown. I mean, he was. Especially when he had a point about the Bluegrass conspiracy. What was his point or something? Wait a minute. What was his point? The topic was Hal McCoy and he switched it. It was something about Sally Din. I think he got it from AOL or Something. Because I saw. I looked it up and there was something. Yeah, it was something about Aaron Chandler. Brought a new book out or something that details your father. Like, Shannon, we can't have this show turn into where Bob's mind is every day. Right?
Shannon The Dude
It's all over the place.
Matt Jones
Because it's all over the place. I mean, that should have been Bob's moment in the sun. He brought up how McCoy. How McCoy ends up on the show, and instead he's talking about the bluegrass conspiracy and whatever. Like, you understand, I can't just. Every time we have him on, just wherever his mind happens to be that day, sir. Well, he's my favorite caller, so.
Shannon The Dude
All right, next one of us.
Matt Jones
Do we think Bob has a huge fan club in the listening audience?
Shannon The Dude
You know, as long as you can affect one life, that's all that matters.
Ryan Lemond
I'm telling you, he had his one moment where he could kind of gloat a little bit about the Hal McCoy thing, and he went to, you know, Sally Denton and the bluegrass conspiracy. MREs.
Matt Jones
I really am worried that nothing's open.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, it's like it's not.
Matt Jones
But what you would. Nothing.
Shannon The Dude
Your neighbor's kitchen's probably open.
Matt Jones
I can't go knock on her door.
Shannon The Dude
Oh, okay.
Matt Jones
Do you have more soup?
Shannon The Dude
What do you care?
Ryan Lemond
At least you're in an area where you can walk up and down the street and hopefully this is over.
Matt Jones
I'm going to put my jacket on my toboggan and I'm gonna walk up and down the street and go. Are. Do any of you have anything? Are any of you open? This subway over here was open till late. And between me and you, Shannon, Subway might be the last thing on earth I would ever want to eat.
Shannon The Dude
Former KSR food. Bracket winner.
Ryan Lemond
That's right.
Matt Jones
I know. Which was which was when the bracket should have been retired was the fact that you're all pallets. Pick.
Ryan Lemond
Subway got a hell of a draw that year.
Matt Jones
Who's next?
Shannon The Dude
Kelly.
Matt Jones
Kelly. Go ahead, Kelly. In 2005, in Montgomery county, over 500 people were arrested for her cock sighting. Mount Sterling used to be the super bowl of cock fighting. You're telling me there were 500 people arrested at once? 500 people. Google it. 2005, the Montgomery county jail can't be big enough to hold 500 people, could it? Well, that they were subsided. Excuse me. They were all subsided. Over 500 people. There is an arena here in the county. It has stadium seating. It has a cafeteria.
Shannon The Dude
What are they serving?
Matt Jones
Chicken. Say this every time, though. But if there is an arena, they're serving chicken. That's a good line. No, if there's an arena with a cafeteria where they do it, then why don't they. Like, how does that operate? The police have to. Well, here's what happened. It was raided. It was raided by the Kentucky State Police. And the Kentucky State Police did not inform the local sheriff's office exactly what was going on. So it is assumed that the sheriff and everybody sort of knew what was going on out there. But they. There's. There's no way you could have people in an arena in a county like Montgomery county and the. I appreciate the call. And then. But the police not know.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah, right.
Matt Jones
I mean, they must have just. Well, again, I don't know if it was 20 years ago. I'm not sure. I just. I will say this. When it comes to the state of Kentucky, I'm not saying I know everything. I don't. But I've learned a lot over the years from this show, from the travels for the book. Like, I feel like I know as much about this county as almost. Or is this state is almost anybody outside of a handful of people. The one thing that continues to shock me is how much cockfighting is going on. It's the one thing, Shannon.
Shannon The Dude
Yeah.
Matt Jones
That when I read about in this state, I go, wow, I didn't realize there was this much cockfighting happening.
Shannon The Dude
We love our cockfighting in Kentucky.
Ryan Lemond
He's right. It was in 2005 more. More than 500 people were cited in an April raid. An alleged cock operation.
Matt Jones
People.
Ryan Lemond
Yep.
Matt Jones
500 people.
Ryan Lemond
Most of them pled guilty.
Shannon The Dude
It's like historic Davis Arena. Everybody getting arrested.
Matt Jones
No, that's bigger than historic Davis Arena. That's a hundred more people than historic Davis Arena. Wow. That's insane. Hey, bbn, are you exercising more? Well, if you're being healthier and saving more money, you also might tweak an injury court. Physical therapy can help get you back to where you're back on the exercise circuit court. Physical therapy has been around for more than 30 years. Whether you're a chronic resolution breaker or someone who is serious about making a lifestyle change towards better health, court can help you be pain free and on your way to achieving your goals. To begin care today, go to court dot com. That's K O R t dot com. So. So tomorrow we'll do the show. I don't know where we'll be. Chances are I'll probably still be here in Louisville. So I don't know if the bar will be open I'm not sure, but we will have the show. And then Thursday and Friday, we're giving away money from Country Road Spirits at the bar during the semifinal games. And some of you will have a chance to win $2,000. We'll talk more about that as we go. Ryan, stay safe.
Ryan Lemond
Shannon, you do, man.
Matt Jones
All of you that are out, that have to be out. Everybody be careful. Cats beat Florida. It's been an awesome weekend. See you tomorrow. It's Kentucky sports.
Shannon The Dude
Bring Matt some food.
